Hijo del Vikingo to confront Penta on next week’s AAA Rey de Reyes week 3

Vikingo wants to move on, and has selected his next target.

During week 2 of AAA Rey de Reyes, Dorian Roldan was seen talking on the phone with his mother while Vikingo threw a fit in the background, upset that he could never challenge for the AAA Mega title again while Dominik Mysterio was champion. He blamed Mini Vikingo for his loss in the main event of last week’s program. Roldan told him to let it go and focus on something else: Penta’s Intercontinental title. Later, it was confirmed that Vikingo would call out Penta next week.

Also scheduled for week 3 of Rey de Reyes is El Fiscal facing off against Abismo Negro again. The two have feuded for some time over the Abismo Negro name, with Fiscal being the son of the original Abismo Negro. The two met recently with Abismo winning by DQ, and later participated in a Rey de Reyes qualifier but ended up brawling to the back.

A four-way match will also take place for the AAA Cruiserweight title. Laredo Kid will defend against Jack Cartwheel, TJ Perkins, and Dragon Lee.

AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 winner crowned

El Grande Americano has won the 2026 AAA Rey de Reyes tournament.

In the second match of the night, El Grade Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) faced off against the Original El Grade Americano, La Parka, and Santos Escobar in a four-way match to decide this year’s Rey de Reyes winner.

While the majority of the match featured spots amongst the four men, the latter half of it featured interference from the Los Americanos stable as well as El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.

Toward the final moments of the match, El Grande Americano II and Original El Grande brawled to the backstage area, leaving Escobar and La Parka alone in the ring. However, Rayo and Bravo Americano came to Grande Americano II’s rescue when they handcuffed Original Americano in the crowd.

AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. also interfered, wearing Escobar’s old mask and attacking him with a steel chair, leaving the spot open for Americano II to capitalize. Grande Americano II followed it up by landing a running headbutt on Escobar and pinning him to reign victorious.

As soon as Kaiser’s Americano won the match, the crowd erupted in cheers. Tonight’s victory has earned Grande Americano II a shot at the AAA Mega Championship.

Penta to kick off AAA Rey de Reyes 2026

An appearance by WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta will be kicking off AAA Rey de Reyes 2026.

It was already known that Penta would be in Puebla, Mexico for the event and presenting the Rey de Reyes winner with their ceremonial sword. It’s now been announced that Penta will be opening the broadcast as well.

The event is taking place this Saturday and will see La Parka, Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable), El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser), and Santos Escobar face off to determine the Rey de Reyes tournament winner. Along with the sword, the winner receives a future AAA Mega Championship shot.

Dominik Mysterio is the current AAA Mega Champion and has a title defense against El Hijo del Vikingo at Rey de Reyes. If Vikingo loses, he cannot challenge for the title again while Dominik is champion.

Until recently, Dominik had been a double champion, holding both the AAA Mega Championship and WWE Intercontinental title. Penta dethroned him for the latter belt on the March 2 episode of Raw.

Rey de Reyes is being broadcast as a multi-week special, airing on Fox Latin America in Mexico, Central America, and South America (except for Brazil). It will air on YouTube for viewers outside of those regions. The lineup for week one this Saturday includes the Rey de Reyes final, Dominik vs. Vikingo, and an open challenge by AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer.

Rey de Reyes qualifier part of next week’s AAA on Fox lineup

A Rey de Reyes qualifying match is set for next week’s AAA on Fox.

It was announced that Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.. will face Omos, Ethan Page, and Piminela Escarlata in a four-way qualifying match on next week’s show. The winner will advance to the finals at Rey de Reyes where they will meet La Parka and the Original El Grande Americano, who have already qualified.

Wagner has been embroiled in a feud with Santos Escobar in recent weeks. After Wagner picked up a victory on Saturday, Santos Escobar appeared on screen and said he would face Wagner in his own time and wasn’t in Mexico. That was later revealed to be a ruse when Escobar jumped Wagner in the parking lot.

Another match set for next week is Dragon Lee facing Jack Cartwheel. Lee was last seen on AAA television losing a Rey de Reyes qualifier, with El Grande Americano earning the victory over Lee, Octagon Jr., and Rey Fenix.

Mega title match official for AAA Rey de Reyes

The Mega title match for Rey de Reyes is official.

During Saturday’s AAA on Fox show, Dominik Mysterio appeared via video, interrupting El Hijo del Vikingo, Omos, and Dorian Roldan in the ring. He called the new incarnation of El Ojo cowards and confirmed his title match against Vikingo would take place at Rey de Reyes. He told Vikingo that he doesn’t belong, he is the king of the luchadores, and said he would embarrass him in Puebla on March 14.

On the premiere episode of AAA on Fox, Vikingo defeated El Grande Americano to become the new number one contender for the Mega title. It was Mysterio that defeated Vikingo back at Worlds Collide on September 12 to win the title for the first time.

Saturday’s show also saw the first person qualify for the Rey de Reyes tournament finals. La Parka defeated Jack Cartwheel, Apollo Crews, and Aerostar to advance to the finals. Whoever wins the four-way match will win the tournament, wield the ceremonial sword, and earn a future Mega Heavyweight title match.

AAA Guerra de Titanes notes: Rey de Reyes date & location official, Penta, El Grande Americano

Notes from Saturday’s Guerra de Titanes.

Prior to the main event of Saturday’s show in Guadalajara, AAA confirmed that Rey de Reyes would be held in Puebla in March. Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reported earlier this week that the show would be taking place on March 14 at the Auditorio GNP Seguros.

Rey Mysterio & Rey Fenix emerged victorious in the main event, defeating El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio thanks to help from Penta, who prevented Americano from using a foreign object. Penta instead put the object under his own mask to attack Dominik. Fenix took out Americano and Rey ended up pinning his own son following the 619.

After the match Americano attempted to help Dominik, who responded by pushing Americano and storming away with his championships. As Americano stood in the ring unsure of what had just transpired, Rey Mysterio extended his hand. Americano ended up accepting the handshake and left, showing respect to the WWE Hall of Famer.

The show closed with Rey Fenix’s son and Canelo Alvarez’s son entering the ring and doing Penta’s dance with the rest of the babyfaces to close out the show.
