Wrestling Observer Live: AEW Full Gear review
On the Sunday edition of Wrestling Observer Live, my main focus is Saturday’s AEW Full Gear — a show that had it all and then some.
MJF retained the AEW World title after a show-long injury angle played out that also included Adam Cole nearly defending the title on his friend’s behalf. I give my thoughts on the injury, the angle, and the match itself.
I also delve into the Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Page Texas Death match and how it might have been the most brutal match in many years in professional wrestling.
Both of the company’s women’s titles changed hands. I discuss how both new AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm and new TBS Champion Julia Hart have elevated their game in recent weeks.
Plus, Ronda Rousey made her surprise debut in Ring of Honor Friday, we got more details about the Continental Classic tournament and new Triple Crown championships, notes from the media scrum, and more.

I am back for another Sunday edition of Wrestling Observer Live, recapping all the top stories from the week.
WWE announced a new TV deal for NXT with The CW starting next October. Will this help viewership in the long run for the black and gold brand?
Vince McMahon sold off a large amount of TKO stock, indicating that he is taking an even lesser role In the new company. Could this be leading to him being out altogether?
I also give my thoughts on Saturday’s AEW Collision including the presentation of the House of Black, Hangman Page’s great promo, and Sting wrestling in the main event. I also discuss the new Continental Classic tournament and how it will help with hopefully some meaningful matches heading into 2024.
Plus, I recap WWE SmackDown, given an early preview of next Saturday’s AEW Full Gear, and an even earlier look at January’s Wrestle Kingdom card.
