AEW Dynamite live results: Parking lot fight

Dynamite opened with Jurassc Express in the ring for their match against FTR.

The Young Bucks entered and hit the referee with superkicks. The announcers pushed that the Bucks have a new edge to them since Hangman Page turned on them and speculated as to how much they might be fined for their actons.

The Bucks made their way to the back and threw a stack of bills at Tony Khan, paying their fine in advance.

The Bucks crossed paths with FTR as the AEW Tag champs prepared to enter for the opener. FTR mocked Matt and Nick.

**********

FTR (w/Tully Blanchard) defeated Jurassic Express

Excellent action in this opener and a finish straight out of a Demolition match in 1988.

Jungle Boy and Dax kicked things off and traded hip tosses. Luchasaurus and Cash entered. Cash tried to distract the referee. Luchasaurus overcame the distraction. Jurassic Express hit some tandem offense. Jungle Boy hit a senton off Luchasaurus’s back.

Cash and Jungle Boy ended up the legal men. Cash cut Jungle Boy off with a powerslam. FTR isolated Jungle Boy and worked him over.

Luchasaurus got a hot tag and ran wild with pump kicks. He connected with a standing moonsault for a near fall. Jungle Boy blind tagged in. Luchasaurus hit a tail whip on Dax and Jungle Boy covered for a two count.

FTR gave Jungle Boy about a million different near falls off a variety of cradles. Jungle Boy hit a high cross. Dax rolled through and held the tights but Jungle Boy reversed into another two count.

Jungle Boy and Dax traded strikes as Cash and Luchasaurus brawled to the floor. Jungle Boy got yet another near fall after an inside cradle.

Cash launched Luchasaurus over the barricade. Jungle Boy hit a tope suicida to Cash.

For the finish, Jungle Boy tried a sunset flip near the ropes. Cash and Blanchard flipped Dax over, reversing the cradle. Dax pinned Jungle Boy.

**********

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur previewed the rest of the show.

**********

To the back —

Alex Marvez approached a fallen Matt Hardy. Hardy was laid out selling his left knee. Private Party said they were about to talk strategy for their match with Hager and Jericho when they found Matt.

Jericho and Hager entered. They mocked Hardy and Jericho was carrying Floyd the baseball bat. The clear implication was that it was Jericho who attacked Hardy.

**********

Kenny Omega joined the commentary desk for the next match.

Schiavone said that Omega had been offered a chance to make the match a tag match but he refused. Omega said he’s a singles competitor now.

Hangman Page defeated Frankie Kazarian

This was another good match.

They opened with a striking exchange. They had a loud chop battle. Hangman hit a springboard clothesline and a plancha. Page was firmly in control before an ad break.

Kazarian worked Page over during the commercials, including hitting his leg slice in the ropes. Kazarian fought for a fisherman’s suplex forever but Page kept blocking. Kazarian finally hit the move for a two count.

Kazarian grabbed a front facelock. They traded clotheslines. Page blocked a swing DDT and hit a fall-away slam and a standing shooting star for a near fall.

Kazarian blocked a springboard clothesline and hit a slingshot DDT for a two count. Each guy fought for a backslide. Kazarian reversed a backslide attempt into an unprettier for a two count.

Page hit a sliding lariat and a DVD for a two count. Page teased a Buckshot. Kazarian countered into a slingshot cutter for a two count.

Kazarian tried a springboard attack. Page blocked and hit a Liger bomb for a two count. Kazarian avoided another Buckshot attempt. Kazarian avoided a moonsault off the apron and hit a right hand. Page hit a clothesline on the floor.

Kazarian climbed back inside. Page was on the apron. They traded strikes. Kazarian tried another leg slice in the ropes but Page blocked, shoved Kazarian off and hit a Buckshot Lariat for the pin.

**********

Omega left the commentary desk without congratulating his former partner. Page drank a beer in the ring after his win.

**********

A video package played hyping the parking lot fight.

**********

MJF (w/Wardlow) defeated Shawn Dean

Dean had his left arm taped up. MJF used a thumb to the eye and a Salt of the Earth to win in seconds as Dean immediately tapped out.

**********

Wardlow continued beating down Dean after the match.

MJF cut a promo. He said he’s an honest man, unlike that cheater Jon Moxley. MJF demanded that Justin Roberts introduce him as the undefeated, undisputed, uncrowned champion of AEW.

MJF said to get any attention on Dynamite you have to be in a stable. He said there’s a new faction every week. He’s not wrong.

MJF said whether he picks a group to be a part of or not it doesn’t matter because he’s better than you and you know it.

**********

Taz broke down the offense of Ricky Starks.

**********

Eddie Kingston was in the ring with Penta and Fenix. Butcher and Blade paced around the ring while Kingston cut a promo.

Kingston said he never lost the Casino Battle Royale. He said his group isn’t a faction or a stable, they’re a family. He said after they fight, some families go to dinner. He said his family celebrates with violence.

Butcher and Blade pulled Griff Garrison and another jobber out of the crowd and beat them up.

Kingston told Blade it was time for him to get his house in order.

And the segment ended.

Kingston is a gifted promo. The inside baseball stuff about Blade and his wife is awful.

**********

Private Party entered.

The announcers used Private Party’s entrance time to announce that Jon Moxley and Lance Archer will be on opposite sides of a six-man tag next week and will be picking their partners tonight.

**********

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager defeated Private Party

This was more formulaic than the tag team opener but a good match. Much like the FTR match this was a case where the established veterans gave the young guys a ton before coming away with the win. Kassidy got at least two near falls on Jericho and Jericho bumped all over for him.

Quen and Kassidy hit tandem dives to start the match off hot.

Quen got cut off and worked over during a break. Hager hit some of his lumbering offense. Kassidy got a hot tag and Private Party hit Silly String on Hager for a near fall.

Jericho got a tag. Kassidy ducked a Judas Effect and hit a springboard cutter for a two count. Quen and Hager brawled to the floor after a double clothesline over the top.

Kassidy went for a senton atomico but Jericho moved out of the way. Jericho hit the Judas Effect for the pin.

**********

Jericho put Kassidy in the Walls after the match. Quen made the save and hit a Pele kick, sending Jericho packing.

**********

They announced Scorpio Sky vs. Ben Carter, Anna Jay vs. Brandi Rhodes, plus Matt Sydal vs. Shawn Spears for Late Night Dynamite, airing Tuesday after Inside the NBA on TNT.

**********

NWA World Women’s Championship: Thunder Rosa defeated Ivelisse to retain the title

This was a back and forth match with very little flow to it. Just move, move, move, move, move.

Rosa’s offense looked good, Ivelisse’s did not.

They showed Hikaru Shida in the crowd watching the match.

Rosa hit a jumping clothesline and a meteora in the corner. Ivelisse hit a tiger driver.  Rosa used a crossface. Rosa blocked a springboard attack and hit a DVD.

Rosa used a tombstone for the pin.

**********

Diamante ran in after the match and attacked Rosa. Shida jumped the rail to make the save, then left the ring to Rosa to take a bow.

**********

Miro was bench pressing. He asked Kip Sabian to let him get in the ring and devour somebody.

Sabian said Miro has to throw him a bachelor party first. Miro promised the best bachelor party ever. Sabian and Miro fist bumped Penelope Ford.

**********

Jake Roberts and Lance Archer entered for a promo.

Archer pulled someone out of the crowd and beat him up.

Jake cut a creepy promo about being in bed with the Tasmanian devil.

Taz entered. Taz said he and Jake made a deal that Ricky Starks and Brian Cage will be Archer’s partners next week provided Cage gets the first shot at Archer when Archer wins Moxley’s title.

Moxley entered but got jumped by Cage and Starks. Will Hobbs made the save for Moxley with a steel chair.

Moxley put Hobbs over strongly on the mic. Moxley called on Darby Allin who he knew was watching at home to join his team next week.

Really good promo from Moxley. Hobbs looked great.

***********

Archer, Cage & Starks vs. Moxley, Hobbs & Allin, Mr. Brodie Lee vs. Orange Cassidy for the TNT title, Hikaru Shida & Thunder Rosa vs. Diamante & Ivelisse, plus a Chris Jericho promo were announced for next week’s Dynamite.

The main event is next.

**********

Parking lot fight: Best Friends defeated Santana & Ortiz

These guys beat the hell out of each other in a brutal, violent main event.

They hit each other with car hoods, a police baton, a sledgehammer, a door, a dustpan, a baseball bat, a board and a pipe.

Santana took two sentons while trapped under the hood of a car and bled. Taylor took a suplex and a splash on the roof of a car. Taylor suplexed Ortiz on a guardrail.

Ortiz hit Trent with a low blow and a powerbomb on a car roof as Santana and Ortiz doubled up on Trent. Trent got launched into the back window of a car and came up with his back all cut up.

Taylor fired back with a bat before taking a backdrop on a trashcan before he was cut off.

Santana teased a pipe shot to Taylor. Orange Cassidy jumped out of a car trunk and hit an Orange Punch with a chain. Taylor hit a piledriver on the hood of a car on Santana.

Trent hit a crunchie on Ortiz through a plywood board and pinned him in the bed of a pickup truck.

**********

Sue showed up in her van and drove the winning team away to close the show. Sue flipped the bird as she drove off.

AEW announces signing of Will Hobbs

For Will Hobbs, what a difference a battle royal can make.

The eight-year pro was an entrant into the 21-man Casino Battle Royale at AEW’s All Out without a single win in the company over seven matches dating back to July. Then, he put in an impressive performance and was one of the final six men in the match along with Brian Cage, Lance Archer, Eddie Kingston, The Butcher and Matt Sydal.

After two subsequent quick wins on Dark over Sean Legacy and Jessy Sorenson, Hobbs is officially under contract as announced by the company Wednesday. Per usual, terms were not disclosed.

An All Pro Wrestling (California) trainee, Hobbs had a past tryout at the WWE Performance Center and has worked with familiar names on the indies like MLW’s Jacob Fatu and Alexander Hammerstone, NJPW’s Jeff Cobb, Impact Wrestling’s Trey Miguel, ROH’s Brody King, and others.

The 6’1″, 252-pounder tweeted, “Been through hell and back. Dreams do come true. BELIEVE IN #WILLPOWER.”

AEW Dark results: Dark Order vs. Private Party & Gunn Club

Excalibur and Taz were joined by Veda Scott on commentary for this week’s 11-match edition of Dark.

Brandi Rhodes (w/ Dustin Rhodes) defeated Red Velvet

Brandi came out with her new action figure. There was a comedy spot at the beginning where Brandi kept saying that the much smaller Velvet looked just like Brandy’s action figure which Velvet responded to with a dropkick.

After some sloppy wrestling, Anna Jay came out on the entrance ramp. The announcers had earlier discussed her ongoing issues with Brandi. The distraction allowed Velvet to drop Brandi with a DDT. She went for a lariat, but Brandi cut her off with a spear and locked on a sleeper hold for the submission victory. Brandi still showed no signs of becoming a serviceable pro wrestler.

The Butcher & The Blade (w/ Eddie Kingston) defeated Daniel Garcia & Kevin Blackwood

This was Garcia and Blackwood’s first AEW appearances after teaming together frequently in Beyond Wrestling. Garcia is in his early 20s and has great talent, and Blackwood looked good here as well.

The two came out firing strikes, but their offense was cut off when Butcher and Blade countered stereo planchas. They isolated Garcia with frequent tags and power moves as Kingston coached from the outside. Taz and Scott spent the entire heat segment arguing about nothing on commentary.

Eventually, Garcia reached Blackwood for the hot tag, but Garcia got overconfident and blind tagged himself in where he was met with the Full Death for the pin.

Penelope Ford (w/ Kip Sabian) defeated Dani Jordyn

Jordyn has been impressive in her Dark opportunities. She comes out with a “burn book” which is a binder full of bullying material as her gimmick is that she’s a high school mean girl. The two wrestled back and forth as Taz openly mentioned that he can’t tell who is supposed to be the heel in this match and got called “awfully misogynistic” by Excalibur in two separate instances.

The double-knee gutbuster got two for Ford before Sabian showed Ford her page in Jordyn’s binder. Ford got livid and tore the page up even though we didn’t see what the page said. She bulldogged Jordyn into the corner and hit a missile dropkick and a bridging fisherman’s suplex for the pinfall.

FTW Champion Brian Cage defeated Megabyte Ronnie

Ricky Starks joined on commentary and did a nice job putting over Cage as well as showing charisma. This was also Ronnie’s debut match. He’s got a good look with a sculpted physique and plenty of size to go along with an interesting gimmick as a legitimate competitive eater. Cage came out with his FTW championship.

Cage hit some power moves before Ronnie eventually fought back with a spinebuster. Ronnie pulled out a hot dog and took a bite as he dropped an elbow which just made Cage mad. He hit a powerbomb, a tiger feint kick, and the Drill Claw for the quick win.

Santana & Ortiz defeated Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison

Santana & Ortiz are the fifth-ranked tag team in AEW and have a big match with Best Friends coming up on this week’s Dynamite. Santana started off against Pillman, who hit a slap early on which Santana responded to with a much harder slap. Garrison made a blind tag, but was chopped hard in the corner and dropped with a thrust kick. Ortiz tagged in, but there was a bit of miscommunication before he hit a gutwrench suplex to maintain his team’s advantage.

Garrison attempted a couple stop-and-start hot tags, but was cut off every time. Eventually, he hit a rolling elbow which bought enough time for the tag. Pillman hit a springboard clothesline as Santana hit a tope to Garrison on the outside. Ortiz fought out of a suplex and the two hit their powerbomb/knee strike combination finisher for the three count.

Will Hobbs defeated Jessy Sorenson

Sorenson is a former Impact and WWE developmental wrestler while Hobbs was coming off a a strong performance in the All Out Casino Battle Royale and his first win on last week’s Dark. Sorenson threw strikes at the bell, but Hobbs hit a spinebuster and the Oklahoma Stampede for the squash victory that went about a minute.

Diamanté & Ivelisse defeated Skyler Moore & Raché Chanel

Ivelisse & Diamanté won the the Deadly Draw women’s tag tournament, and the former challenges Thunder Rosa for the NWA Women’s title on this week’s Dynamite. Chanel was also a participant in that tournament. She and Diamanté wrestled really awkwardly at the bell, and I don’t think it was Diamanté’s fault.

Ivelisse tagged in and wore down Chanel with strikes and holds. At one point, Ivelisse attempted a simple butterfly suplex and Chanel just barely made it all the way over. Diamanté tagged in and hit a nasty corner dropkick and a clothesline for two.

Chanel eventually escaped and made the tag to Moore, who hit a hurricanrana and a front slam before Diamanté broke up the pin. Chanel was knocked off the apron, and Ivelisse hit a kick to the face to get her team the win. This was really rough at times.

Colt Cabana (w/ Dark Order) defeated QT Marshall (w/ Allie)

Cabana was joined by just Evil Uno at first, but the rest of the Dark Order came out and spectated from the ramp to ensure that Cabana knew that he needed to win this match.

He and Marshall chain wrestled before Cabana sent Marshall to the outside with a tijeras. Grayson stormed to the ring to berate Cabana for not showing aggressiveness, and Marshall took advantage with an uppercut.

Marshall climbed to the top rope, but Five and Ten distracted him which allowed Cabana to regain the advantage. Cabana applied a nerve hold, which Marshall punched his way out of, but Cabana cut him off with a drop toehold. Marshall eventually fought back with a shoulderblock, an atomic drop, and a diving forearm.

Marshall went for the Diamond Cutter, but hit a backbreaker/flatliner combination instead. Cabana hit the Boom Boom elbow strike and attempted the Flying Apple, but Marshall caught him in the corner. Uno distracted the referee and Grayson hit Marshall with a knee, followed by Cabana hitting a discus clothesline (Mr. Brodie Lee’s finisher) for the win.

Brandon Cutler vs. Peter Avalon (w/ Leva Bates) went to a double countout

These two are the former tag team called the Initiative, and neither has ever won a match in AEW. This was a rare Dark grudge match with Avalon playing the heel. They couldn’t contain their hatred and attacked each other before the bell. There was fast-paced action at the start as Cutler hit a springboard forearm and a tope suicida and they brawled outside.

Avalon was rolled inside but hit a tope of his own right away, followed by a springboard crossbody and a uranage. Avalon went outside and took Bates’ book, but Bates grabbed it back and Cutler took advantage of the distraction with an Emerald Frosion. Avalon fought back with a Tiger Driver and split-legged moonsault, both of which got two.

As Avalon argued with the official, Cutler hit a springboard elbow drop for a near fall. He forced Avalon to the top rope, but both men spilled to the floor after a striking battle. They continued to fight on the outside as the official counted. Once the referee hit the eight count, they both fought to beat the count, but neither made it in and both remain winless.

This match was really exciting and one of the better Dark matches in a long time. I figured that we wouldn’t get a winner as they continue to tease that neither has ever won, but even with the lack of a winner, the action was quick and it felt like there were real stakes — a rarity on Dark.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent?) defeated Maxx Stardom & Dontae Smiley

This was both Stardom and Smiley’s AEW debut. The match itself was very one-sided as Chuckie and Trent showed lots of aggression ahead of their match with Santana & Ortiz. Stardom made a comeback with a cazadora bulldog, but Best Friends cut them off with a spear on the outside. Back in, they hit a Soul Food/half-and-half suplex combination followed by two straight piledrivers for the quick win.

Dark Order (Stu Grayson, Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, & John Silver) defeated Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) & The Gunn Club (Billy & Austin Gunn)

Billy and Reynolds started off. After some quick combination offense from Private Party and the Gunns, Reynolds fought his way to his corner where the Dark Order isolated Austin. Austin eventually did the same and tagged in Quen, but Evil Uno cut him off by grabbing his leg as he attempted a dive.

Dark Order continued to beat down Quen in a long heat segment. Quen attempted a comeback with a double hurricanrana on Silver and Reynolds, but he couldn’t make it back for the tag. He eventually flipped out of a suplex and made it to Billy for the hot tag. Billy hit a cobra clutch slam for two, but Uno got in the way of the Fameasser. We then got a parade of moves, capped off by Billy hitting the Fameasser.

Before Billy could make a cover, Uno came in with a pump kick. Austin tagged in and hit a lariat, but was overwhelmed by the Dark Order’s numbers advantage. Grayson and Uno hit the Fatality to finish him off. With the extended heat segment and the parade of moves, this felt like a house show main event.

Final Thoughts:

After a couple breezy, compact episodes of Dark, AEW disappointingly returned to the long, drawn out format from previous weeks. Many of the matches were poorly worked and/or had no engaging story behind them. The commentary was back to being awful as well; Scott is a legitimately excellent wrestling commentator but she is just completely overwhelmed by Taz’s overbearing “is he playing a character or is he shooting?” presence.

If you see one thing from this show, make it Cutler vs. Avalon. The one overarching storyline that Dark has is an enjoyable one, and it led to a very good back-and-forth match while setting the stage for a rematch down the line.

Jon Moxley, Lance Archer segments announced for AEW Dynamite

Jon Moxley and Lance Archer segments have been announced for Dynamite on Wednesday.

AEW announced in two separateposts that the two will be appearing on Dynamite. Jon Moxley is slated to make an appearance, while Archer (joined by Jake Roberts) will be doing an interview.

At All Out, Archer last eliminated Eddie Kingston to win the Casino Battle Royal, which gives him the chance to face Moxley for the title. The two are scheduled to meet on the October 14 edition of Dynamite, which will be the one year anniversary show.

Also announced for this week’s Dynamite include Best Friends vs. Santana and Ortiz in a parking lot fight, Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. Private Party, Thunder Rosa vs. Ivelisse for the NWA Women’s title, Hangman Page vs. Frankie Kazarian, and FTR will face Jurassic Express in a non-title match. If Jurassic Express win, they get a future title match.

Additionally, MJF will be in singles action, and both Miro and Kip Sabian will make an appearance.

Kip Sabian & Miro to speak on AEW Dynamite

Miro and Kip Sabian will appear this Wednesday on Dynamite.

AEW confirmed the new segment this afternoon. This follows what happened last week, when Sabian introduced the former Rusev as his best man for his upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford.

After Sabian teased a couple of other people as a potential best man, including Brian Pillman Jr., he introduced Miro who came out and cut a promo talking about another company’s imaginary brass ring. He reinforced that he was not just Sabian’s best man, he was THE best man.

This was Miro’s first pro wrestling appearance since being released from WWE in April of this year as part of wide-ranging WWE cutbacks.

Also announced for this week’s Dynamite include Best Friends vs. Santana and Ortiz in a parking lot fight, Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. Private Party, Hangman Page vs. Frankie Kazarian, and MJF will be in singles action.

Other highlights from the episode included:

Brandon Cutler tried to talk to The Young Bucks but they were in no mood. Matt and Nick said that they have been spending too much time worrying about the jobbers on their show instead of taking care of themselves and that is going to change.

Alex Reynolds and John Silver had a dance-off against TH2. TH2 were declared the winners. Orange Cassidy rejected another invitation to join Dark Order.

Michael Nakazawa was left out of the Casino Battle Royale and decided to take it out on Matt Sydal by oiling the top turnbuckle.

Reynolds and Silver tried to frame Stu Grayson for vandalizing a bathroom but failed.

Colt Cabana was looking for a doctor to fix his face. He ran into Chris Daniels, Dustin Rhodes and Luther but none of them were real doctors.

Daniels did a commercial for vodka to appeal to the 50-plus demo.

Cutler approached Hangman Page and told him that Matt and Nick wanted nothing to do with him. Page told him to do his job and go tell The Bucks that he’s sorry.

Matt Hardy introduced his youngest child to The Bucks. Matt and Nick were concerned that Hardy seemed too normal.

Sydal found out about Nakazawa and chased him through the backstage.

Page asked Cutler to get Matt and Nick some cakes. The cake delivery person turned out to be a competitive eater and ate the cakes before Page could get them to The Bucks.

AEW staying in Jacksonville through early November

Even with fans in limited attendance at events in various states across the U.S., AEW won’t be going on the road for Dynamite anytime soon as they unveiled a new ticket package Monday for those attending shows in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Dynamite Season Pass gives fans the opportunity to buy a discounted ticket package for the next seven shows starting on September 23rd and running through November 3rd.

AEW has been at the Daily’s Place since the pandemic began with the exception of a set of March/April tapings in Norcross, GA, when the venue wasn’t available. Alternating between live and taped shows, they reverted back to weekly live Dynamites when they began selling 10-15% of the venue in late-August.

AEW’s last live event before the pandemic began was Wednesday, March 11th in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Last week, AEW announced that dates for October/November in St. Louis, MO; Milwaukee, WI: Rochester, NY; and Houston, TX have been rescheduled to June and July of 2021.

This week’s AEW Dynamite to air in normal Wednesday time slot

The Wednesday Night Wars are set to resume this Wednesday.

AEW this evening confirmed that they will be airing Dynamite in its normal time slot. NXT will also return to its normal time slot after moving to Tuesdays for the last two weeks.

Dynamite was originally scheduled for a late one hour edition on midnight Thursday if a NBA game was scheduled. However, with the Denver Nuggets defeating the Los Angeles Clippers today, forcing a game seven on Tuesday, Dynamite will air in its normal timeslot.

Both NXT and AEW have had their schedules change in recent weeks, causing the two shows to air on different nights. NXT has aired for the last two weeks on Tuesdays due to potential NHL coverage on the USA Network. AEW has held shows on different nights of the week on TNT due to NBA playoffs.

Last week’s Dynamite scored 1,016,000 viewers, its highest number since last fall. Tuesday’s NXT rating had 838,000 viewers, up from its normal Wednesday numbers.

Peter Avalon vs. Brandon Cutler headlines 11-match AEW Dark lineup

After never recording a win as a team, The Initiative (Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler) finally blew up two weeks ago after their latest defeat.

On this Tuesday’s AEW Dark, the two will square off in the main event of Dark as part of an 11-match lineup with Leva Bates remaining in Avalon’s corner.

In other notable matches, Brandi Rhodes will be in a singles match for the first time since July of 2019 when she faces Red Velvet.

Other matches include:

  • In an eight-man tag, the Dark Order (John Silver/Alex Reynolds/Evil Uno/Stu Grayson) will face Private Party and the Gunn Club (Billy and Austin).
  • Another Dark Order member, Colt Cabana, will be in action against QT Marshall (w/Allie).
  • Inaugural Women’s Tag Team Cup winners Diamante and Ivelisse will team up yet again to face Skyler Moore and Rache Chanel.
  • FTW Champion Brian Cage will face the debuting Megabyte Ronnie, a Grapplers Anonymous (Buffalo, NY) trained wrestler.
  • In an all Buffalo affair, The Butcher & The Blade (w/Eddie Kingston) will face Daniel Garcia and Kevin Blackwood. Butcher (Andy Williams), Garcia and Blackwood are also Grapplers Anonymous trainees as is Puf, the man that first appeared from the back during Kip Sabian’s best man announcement last Wednesday.
  • Two feuding teams will look to get momentum heading into Dynamite as Best Friends will face Maxx Stardom and Dontae Smiley while rivals Santana and Ortiz will take on Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison.
  • Will Hobbs will look for his second straight win when he faces former Impact and NXT talent Jessy Sorensen.
  • Penelope Ford (w/Sabian) will face Dani Jordyn.

Dark debuts Tuesday at 7 PM Eastern on AEW’s YouTube channel.

AEW reschedules multiple Dynamite tapings for next summer

AEW has rescheduled several dates for next summer.

The company announced today they are moving several dates that were previously scheduled for the fall. These dates, which were originally announced for this spring, were moved following the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.

The new dates for these shows are as follows:

  • The October 7 show at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, MO will now take place on June 23, 2021.
  • The October 28 show at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been moved to July 14, 2021.
  • The November 4 show at the University of Houston’s Feritta Center in Houston, Texas has been rescheduled to June 30, 2021.
  • The November 11 show at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY has been moved to June 16, 2021.

AEW has mostly run shows at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, they began allowing fans into the arena at a reduced capacity.

AEW notes: Status of one-hour Dynamite, Thunder Rosa contract

On the Wednesday edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified the status of AEW Dynamite for next week and specifically the one-hour show that is scheduled to air after the NBA playoffs Wednesday night.

As announced by AEW on Dynamite, if the Los Angeles Lakers/Houston Rockets NBA playoff series ends in six games, Dynamite will air on Wednesday in its usual time slot. However, if the series goes to seven games, Dynamite will air at 8 PM Eastern on Thursday. Game six is scheduled for Monday night.

However, AEW had planned to air a one hour Dynamite following the playoff game and the post show that Meltzer said is scheduled to be taped today. If Dynamite can air on Wednesday as planned, that one hour show would air on Tuesday, September 22nd instead. The time slot wasn’t given, but Meltzer said that none of the announced matches would be on that one hour show.

Other notes:

  • Bryan Alvarez said Thunder Rosa has a per-date deal with AEW and next week’s Dynamite match with Ivelisse will be for her NWA Women’s World title.
  • Promos and appearances by AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Lance Archer and Jake Roberts will be part of next week’s two-hour Dynamite.

AEW Dynamite video highlights: ‘The Best Man’ Miro debuts

“The Best Man” Miro (formerly known as Rusev in WWE) made his debut on last night’s AEW Dynamite.

Mr. Brodie Lee retained the TNT Championship in the show’s main event. Lee defeated Dustin Rhodes. After the match, Lee and The Dark Order left Rhodes and QT Marshall laying in the ring.

Matt Hardy delivered a promo and vowed that once medically cleared, he would go after his first championship in AEW. Hardy thanked the fans for their love and support since All Out and promised that his pro wrestling journey is not over.

Hardy said that he took a scary fall and was grateful for the amazing outpouring of love and support from the fans. After testing, he said, he is expected to make a full recovery.

He said that while he may be the dumbest man alive, he’s also the luckiest, pointing to his wife Reby in the crowd, who was with their youngest son. He ended up apologizing to fans for the match at All Out and guessed that maybe it was for the best his feud with Sammy Guevara was over, because if it had continued, someone may have gotten seriously hurt.

Hardy promised that once he’s cleared, he will get ranked and get his first AEW title.

At All Out last weekend, Matt Hardy fell off a ladder during his Broken Rules match against Sammy Guevara and laded on the concrete, hitting his head. He was briefly knocked out as the match was stopped and Hardy was checked on.

According to Tony Khan in a media scrum following All Out, AEW’s doctor Michael Sampson cleared Hardy, who attacked Guevara and finished the match after Hardy pushed Guevara off a scaffold and onto a nearby platform.

Moxley vs. Archer World title match set for AEW anniversary show

After earning an AEW World Title match all All Out, Lance Archer now knows when he will be getting his opportunity.

Archer will face current champion Jon Moxley at the company’s anniversary show, scheduled for the Wednesday, October 14th edition of Dynamite.

Archer earned the shot when he won the Casino Battle Royale at Saturday’s pay-per-view. This will be his second opportunity at AEW gold as he lost to Cody in the finals for the inaugural TNT Championship at May’s Double or Nothing.

Conversely, Moxley will be looking for the sixth defense of the title he won in February over inaugural champion Chris Jericho. He was last in action at All Out, handing MJF his first AEW loss.

AEW Dynamite officially debuted on Wednesday. October 2, 2019 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, headlined by Jericho, Santana and Ortiz vs. The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Jake Hager made a surprise appearance and formed The Inner Circle with Jericho, Santana, Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara to close the show.
