WWE NXT wrestler Charlie Dempsey is stepping back into the Bloodsport ring during WrestleMania week.

Both are Bloodsport regulars, with Dempsey having competed in five Bloodsport matches so far and Thatcher’s history with the event dating back to 2018.

Bloodsport is being promoted by Game Changer Wrestling and will be held at Horseshoe Las Vegas. The show will be broadcast live on Triller TV+. So far, Dempsey vs. Thatcher and Pete Dunne vs. Masashi Takeda have been announced. Here are all of the confirmed participants:

WWE scout Gabe Sapolsky praises ‘one of the most improved talents I’ve ever seen’

WWE talent scout Gabe Sapolsky had high praise for indie wrestler Allie Katch after watching her compete this past weekend.

On Sunday, Katch was in action against WWE ID Women’s Champion Laynie Luck for Women’s Wrestling Revolution in Massachusetts. Sapolsky was at the show and called Katch vs. Luck one of the best indie bouts he’s seen since starting in his current role with WWE.

Sapolsky also noted that Katch is one of the most improved wrestlers he’s ever seen.

“Much respect to Allie Katch,” he tweeted. “Incredible WWE ID match vs. Laynie Luck at WWR yesterday. One of the most improved talents I’ve ever seen.”

The 32-year-old Katch is an indie mainstay and regularly competes for Game Changer Wrestling, where she suffered a setback in January 2025 when she broke her leg at the promotion’s Hammerstein Ballroom show. Katch ended up having to spend most of the year out of action following that injury.

Luck, who retained her WWE ID title in Sunday’s match, called on WWE to sign Katch to the program despite her loss.

Sapolsky, the former ROH booker who founded the original Evolve indie promotion, works for WWE as a domestic talent scout and creative consultant. He’s involved with the WWE ID program and weekly WWE Evolve show.

Indie wrestlers Notorious Mimi, Valentina Rossi, Fallyn Gray, and Airica Demia are the latest names to be signed to WWE ID deals.

Two WWE stars set for Netflix MLB opening night appearance

Fans tuning into opening night of the Major League Baseball season will see an appearance by WWE World Tag Team Champions The Usos.

The 2026 MLB season begins this Wednesday when the San Francisco Giants host the New York Yankees. It will be broadcast on Netflix as the first MLB game to ever air live on the platform, and that presents an opportunity for Netflix to highlight some of its other programming. It’s been confirmed that Jimmy & Jey Uso will be appearing on the coverage as special guests.

Our Bryan Alvarez first reported over the weekend that WWE was sending some of its talent to the Giants vs. Yankees game to do cross-promotion.

Since WWE began its relationship with Netflix, we’ve seen WWE wrestlers make similar appearances like Seth Rollins and CM Punk joining Netflix’s NFL coverage and Rollins being part of the broadcast team for a Netflix skyscraping special.

Netflix is the broadcast home of WWE Raw in the United States and also hosts much of WWE’s archival catalogue. Internationally, it carries a wider array of WWE content including PLEs. Those PLEs do not air on Netflix in the U.S. due to WWE’s deal with ESPN.

WWE is currently in the biggest promotional stretch of its year with WrestleMania 42 now less than a month away. On Raw tonight (March 23), The Usos have a match against Logan Paul & Austin Theory.

The Rock stars in new trailer for live-action ‘Moana’ movie

Disney has released a new trailer for its live-action “Moana” film, which co-stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and is set to release this summer.

Johnson’s role in the original animated “Moana” is one of the most memorable performances of his acting career. He voiced Maui in both “Moana” and “Moana 2” and is now back playing the character in physical form.

The live-action adaptation is scheduled to hit theaters on July 10. Along with acting in the movie, Johnson is an executive producer with others from his Seven Bucks Productions company.

Here is Disney’s official description:

  • In ‘Moana,’ Disney’s live action reimagining of the beloved Oscar-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
  • The film is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (‘Hamilton’); produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films ‘Moana’ and ‘Moana 2.’ ‘Moana’ features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, and an original score composed by Mancina. Audiences can experience the brilliant cinematic sights, sounds and songs of ‘Moana’ exclusively in theaters on July 10, 2026.

Johnson earned high praise for his acting work in “The Smashing Machine” last year, earning a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of MMA legend Mark Kerr. There was even Oscar buzz, though Johnson ultimately did not end up being nominated.

Following his work on “The Smashing Machine,” Johnson is attached to upcoming projects from directors Martin Scorsese and Benny Safdie. He is also starring in the third and final movie of the rebooted “Jumanji” franchise.

It doesn’t look like Johnson will play any kind of significant role at WrestleMania 42 this year, though he’s teased potentially showing up in 2027 when WrestleMania is held in Saudi Arabia.

Kevin Nash: Brock Lesnar is the ‘most giving’ wrestler on the planet

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash is a big fan of how Brock Lesnar handles his business.

It was confirmed last week that Lesnar will face off against Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. To help build interest for the match, WWE ran an angle where Femi laid Lesnar out and posed with his foot on top of the fallen Lesnar. Nash reacted to the segment on his Kliq This podcast, praising Lesnar for how giving he is.

“Brock, who’s the most giving motherf***er on the planet,” Nash said. “He’s just not a f***ing mark. There’s nothing about that guy that’s a f***ing mark. I guess when you’re one of the baddest motherf***ers on earth, [you have nothing to prove].”

Femi was a two-time NXT Champion and joined the WWE main roster at the start of this year. He defeated Rusev on Raw a couple weeks back, and Nash would now like to see Femi squash a smaller opponent on the road to WrestleMania to help get his move set over even more.

“Either way it’s going to f***ing sell, though,” Nash said. “If I’m Brock Lesnar and I have to make somebody to make them worthy of a WrestleMania match and I’m probably going to get a $2.5-3 million payday out of it, I’m pretty sure I’m making somebody.”

WWE’s build to the Lesnar vs. Femi match began back in January at the Royal Rumble, where they had a face-off as a teaser to see how fans would react.

There are rumors that Lesnar could be planning to retire from the ring soon, with SummerSlam in Minneapolis this August considered as a possible destination for his last match.

‘Kill Tony’ comedy show added to WWE WrestleMania 42 weekend

WWE and Tony Hinchcliffe are teaming up for another WrestleMania weekend comedy show.

The company announced today that “Kill Tony: WrestleMania” will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 18 following night one of WrestleMania 42. It’s being held at Dolby Live in Vegas and will include appearances by Hinchcliffe, current WWE stars and legends, other comedians, and surprise guests.

Tickets for the comedy show are going on sale tomorrow (March 24) at 10 a.m. Pacific. A pre-sale begins today at that same time.

The start time for the comedy show is 9 p.m. Pacific (midnight Eastern), and WWE notes that there will be plenty of time for fans to get there after the first night of Mania.

“KILL TONY: WrestleMania will begin after the conclusion of WrestleMania Saturday, allowing ample time for fans to get from Allegiant Stadium to Dolby Live,” WWE wrote.

Hinchliffe hosts the “Kill Tony” podcast, where aspiring comedians are chosen at random and get the chance to perform in front of established comedy veterans and have their set critiqued. The 41-year-old Hinchcliffe is a wrestling fan and has developed a relationship with WWE, which included him hosting The Roast of WrestleMania in Vegas last year. He was supposed to host a similar comedy show surrounding SummerSlam 2025, but that ended up being canceled.

Though the Roast of WrestleMania did not air anywhere and was not supposed to be filmed, audio of the show got out. It drew controversy for remarks that were made about Charlotte Flair.

Dolby Live is also set to host the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, April 17. Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, Demolition, and basketball legend Dennis Rodman have been confirmed for the class so far.

DDT star Kazusada Higuchi retiring due to medical issue

Kazusada Higuchi, one of the best wrestlers on the DDT roster, has been forced to cut his in-ring career short.

DDT Pro Wrestling announced today that the 37-year-old Higuchi is retiring from the ring after a medical check-up found an issue with his neck. A retirement ceremony will be held at DDT’s event at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on April 5, but Higuchi will not be able to have one final match due to the condition his neck is in.

The announcement from DDT said:

  • During a regular health check-up conducted by the promotion, a subluxation of the first and second cervical vertebrae was detected, and a doctor determined that ‘continuing to participate in contact sports would be dangerous.’ In light of this, Higuchi, his doctor, and the promotion carefully reviewed and discussed the possibility of him continuing his career, but unfortunately, we have reached the conclusion that he must retire.

Higuchi spoke at a press conference and said that, while he isn’t experiencing any noticeable symptoms, his neck has “reached its limit.” He is disappointed that he cannot wrestle anymore but is grateful that this issue was detected early and he can leave the ring on his own two feet.

“While I can no longer compete in the ring, I believe life goes on, so I intend to take a new step forward and continue to do my best,” he said. “Thank you all so much for the past 12 years.”

A cervical disc herniation previously caused Higuchi to miss several months in 2024-2025. He returned from that injury in March of last year. In 2025, he won the King of DDT tournament and had a reign as KO-D Openweight Champion.

Before starting his career as a pro wrestler in 2014, Higuchi competed in sumo wrestling.

Tom Brady WWE WrestleMania 42 status update

An appearance by NFL legend Tom Brady sounds possible for WWE WrestleMania 42, but there’s been no deal agreed to yet.

Brady and Logan Paul have been going back and forth the past few weeks to help promote the Fanatics Flag Football Classic that took place over the weekend. In the process, Brady took repeated shots at WWE, calling pro wrestling “cute and scripted.” That led to multiple WWE wrestlers joining in and responding to Brady.

There have been rumors that this is all leading to Brady appearing in some form at WrestleMania 42. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE and Brady are in negotiations but nothing has been agreed to yet.

“From what I have been told, they are in negotiations with Tom Brady — but there is absolutely not a deal at this point for Tom Brady,” Meltzer said. “So it could happen. Obviously, Logan Paul and Tom Brady are working. I mean, everyone knows they’re working the angle, I think people have seen that coming in. But there could be something in some form at WrestleMania, it would not be a surprise.

“And what they did in the football game was clearly to build it. Just as all the talk of, you know, Tom Brady cutting down pro wrestlers and the wrestlers all responding — that is all storyline. That is not like Tom Brady’s a d**k and he doesn’t respect pro wrestling.”

WrestleVotes first reported earlier this month that WWE and Brady had discussed a possible Mania appearance, and there were departments in WWE working on things like logos, speciality merchandise, and branding for Brady.

A WrestleMania role would make sense for Brady given that he is part-owner of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. Allegiant Stadium in Vegas, where the Raiders play their home games, is hosting the event on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. It’s the second straight year that WrestleMania has been held at the stadium.

NJPW announces title matches for Sakura Genesis 2026

Coming out of the New Japan Cup finals, NJPW has revealed most of the card for Sakura Genesis 2026.

United Empire’s Callum Newman was crowned the New Japan Cup winner this past weekend. With that victory, he now heads to the main event of Sakura Genesis on April 4 for an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Yota Tsuji. It will be the second title defense of Tsuji’s reign. He already holds a victory over United Empire member Jake Lee.

In total, four championship bouts are part of the announced Sakura Genesis lineup. The IWGP Tag Team titles will be on the line when TMDK’s Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa challenge Oskar & Yuto-Ice. This is a rematch from the main event of New Year Dash 2026, where Oskar & Yuto-Ice retained over Sabre & Oiwa.

Konosuke Takeshita will make another defense of the NJPW World Television Championship, this time against Shota Umino. Takeshita won the belt from El Phantasmo last month and successfully defended against Yujiro Takahashi at the New Japan Cup finals.

Former WWE wrestler Ted DiBiase Jr. found not guilty in welfare scandal

Ted DiBiase Jr.’s legal battle is now over with him being found not guilty on all 13 charges he was facing.

On Friday, a Mississippi jury returned “not guilty” verdicts on every charge DiBiase was accused of, which included embezzlement, conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering. The case stemmed from a welfare fraud scandal where the DiBiase family and others — including NFL legend Brett Favre — were accused of inappropriately receiving millions of dollars in government funds.

The charges against DiBiase could have seen him sentenced to more than 160 years in federal prison if he were convicted on all counts.

After the verdict was delivered, an emotional DiBiase spoke to media outside the courthouse. He also was seen hugging his brother Brett, who previously pleaded guilty in the scandal.

“They got it right. And I give all the glory to God. I give all the credit to my lord and savior, to [my legal team]. I think they did an amazing job of portraying the truth,” DiBiase said. “Seven years of being slandered and made to be something that is completely false has about torn my family apart, but we’re strong. And I’ve had so many friends and so much family that have come around us. And I’m proud that we’ve walked through this. And I’m so thankful that it’s over.”

At the center of the scandal was a Mississippi official named John Davis who was close friends with DiBiase.

“The welfare scandal came to light in 2020 when the former director of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, John Davis, was indicted on fraud and embezzlement charges alongside several others, including Ted DiBiase Jr.’s brother former pro-wrestler Brett DiBiase,” WFTV News in Mississippi wrote.

“Federal indictments accuse Davis of directing the federal dollars to two nonprofits, which then awarded ‘sham contracts’ to various people and organizations, including several companies owned by DiBiase, for social services that were never provided.”

DiBiase is a former Tag Team Champion for WWE and is best known in wrestling for being part of The Legacy with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. He last wrestled for the company in 2013.

NJPW looking to introduce more multi-year contracts

To help entice wrestlers into staying around longer, NJPW is looking into changing the way it structures its contracts.

NJPW contracts, for the most part, have traditionally been recurring one-year deals that expire around the start of each calendar year. Company president Hiroshi Tanahshi told Pro Wrestling Today that altering that structure is a priority for NJPW, along with raising pay and improving the promotion as a whole.

“I strongly feel that we must create a ‘barrier’ to prevent top talent from being poached by other promotions — such as by introducing multi-year contracts — and maintain the quality that makes New Japan Pro-Wrestling great,” Tanahashi said.

NJPW has experienced some departures recently with The Dogs (David Finlay, Gabe Kidd & Clark Connors) joining AEW and EVIL & Hiromu Takahashi likely heading to WWE. The company also lost Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay to AEW in recent years, though the working relationship between NJPW and AEW does allow for occasional returns.

Tanahashi noted that the guaranteed money being offered by overseas promotions like WWE and AEW is very high. With the current state of the Japanese economy, it’s difficult to compete with those offers. He believes the best way to boost NJPW’s standing is to focus on putting on great shows, increase the company’s exposure in advertising activities, and raise revenue over time. He is encouraging NJPW’s rising stars to raise their profile through making more media appearances and participating in other ways to promote themselves and NJPW as a whole.

In December 2023, Tanahashi was named president of NJPW. He is now solely focused on that executive position after retiring from the ring at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in a match against his long-time rival Okada.

WWE files to trademark five new names

WWE made a slate of trademark filings this week that appear to be new NXT names for up-and-coming prospects.

On March 19, WWE applied to trademark the following names: Anya Rune, Gianna Capri, Veronica Haven, Jacari Ball, and Max Abrams. The goods and services section of each application includes the standard language WWE uses when trademarking wrestler names:

  • Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

It’s not known if these names are for brand-new signees or existing Performance Center prospects who have yet to get their NXT names. The company recently announced four new PC additions, including indie wrestler Rayne Leverkusen (real name Rayne Lea).

The impending debut of WWE LFG season three likely means that some existing Performance Center wrestlers will be getting new names. Bayley Humphrey was given the name Myka Lockwood earlier this month after WWE trademarked that moniker. Season three of LFG arrives on A&E on April 26.

NJPW reveals full New Japan Cup finals card, Takeshita title defense set

With the finals now set, NJPW has revealed the full card for the last night of New Japan Cup 2026.

The tournament will conclude in Niigata on Saturday with Callum Newman and Yuya Uemura facing off in the finals. In addition to being crowned the New Japan Cup winner, the victor earns an IWGP Heavyweight Championship shot against Yota Tsuji at Sakura Genesis on April 4.

It was already known that Konosuke Takeshita would be in action on Saturday. NJPW has now confirmed that he’ll be defending his NJPW World Television Championship against a mystery opponent. It’s the first title defense for Takeshita since he defeated El Phantasmo last month to become champion.

“The NJPW World TV title will be on the line when Konosuke Takeshita makes his first defense,” NJPW wrote. “After winning the title in overtime at New Beginning USA in Trenton New Jersey, who will step up to the plate and face the Alpha?”

Saturday’s event is being held in Niigata and will air live on New Japan World starting at 2 a.m. Eastern time. Here is the complete lineup:

WWE pays tribute to ‘pop culture icon’ Chuck Norris after his death

WWE has shared a tribute to actor Chuck Norris following his passing at 86 years old.

Norris’ death was announced by his family on Friday, who called the passing “sudden” and said they wanted to keep the circumstances private. He had been hospitalized in Hawaii earlier this week due to an undisclosed medical emergency. Norris was a martial artist whose fame extended into film and television, where he was best known for his long-running series “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

His presence was also felt in pro wrestling with Norris serving as the special guest enforcer for the main event of WWF Survivor Series 1994. The Undertaker defeated Yokozuna in a casket match — and Norris got physically involved in the bout by dropping Jeff Jarrett with a kick.

In the company’s tribute, WWE called Norris a pop culture icon and extended its condolences to his family, friends, and fans:

  • WWE is saddened to learn that legendary Hollywood actor and pop culture icon Chuck Norris has passed away.
  • A legend in the television and film industry with iconic projects such as Walker Texas Ranger, The Way of the Dragon, and many more, Norris became one of the most recognizable stars in Hollywood with his martial arts background playing a key role in his films and shows.
  • Norris made an iconic appearance at Survivor Series 1994, where he served as the special enforcer for The Undertaker’s Casket Match against Yokozuna.
  • During the match, Norris delivered a devastating roundhouse kick to Jeff Jarrett, helping The Undertaker win.
  • WWE extends its condolences to Norris’ family, friends, and fans.

Norris’ fame only grew later in life when, in the 2000s era of the internet, jokes about how tough he was became a popular meme and were shared around the world.

“While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him,” his family announced. “The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends.”

Norris also made a pro wrestling appearance when he attended an episode of WCW Nitro in 1999.

Tag Team titles to be defended on WWE Raw

WWE has raised the stakes for one of the matches scheduled for Raw next Monday.

On WWE’s website, it’s listed that Logan Paul & Austin Theory will challenge The Usos for the World Tag Team titles on the March 23 episode of Raw. The matchup had already been announced for the show but was not listed as being for the titles until now.

“Paul Heyman has made it clear to Austin Theory and Logan Paul that they need to take down The Usos,” WWE.com wrote. “Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso will put the World Tag Team Title on the line against Theory and Paul, Monday on Raw at 8 ET/5 PT on Netflix.”

If The Vision were to win the belts, this would be Paul’s first Tag Team title reign in WWE. He previously had a run as United States Champion in 2023-2024. Theory is a former WWE Tag Team Champion with Grayson Waller.

The Usos’ current reign began when they won the belts from AJ Styles & Dragon Lee at the end of December 2025. Their only televised defense so far has been a victory over Akira Tozawa & Otis.

TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts is hosting Monday’s Raw. It’s one of only four Raw episodes remaining before WrestleMania 42. Brock Lesnar is slated to make an appearance, which comes one week after he was laid out by his WrestleMania opponent Oba Femi.

WWE Raw (Monday, March 23) —

  • World Tag Team Champions The Usos defend against Logan Paul & Austin Theory
  • Brock Lesnar reacts to being taken out by Oba Femi
