Independent promotion announces next show will be last ‘for the foreseeable future’

Deadlock Pro Wrestling’s next show may be its last.

The independent promotion announced Saturday on social media that aside from a show in Japan in 2026, their 4th Anniversary event on December 12 in Cary, North Carolina will be their last for “the foreseeable future.”

“It has been an absolute pleasure to produce DPW events these past 4 years,” their statement on social media read. “Thank you to all the fans, wrestlers, & everyone behind-the-scenes that made all this possible. We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished & we are excited to celebrate with a great anniversary event in December! Thank you for everything.”

It was additionally announced that the show will become a fundraiser event to help families in the area.

“All tickets to the event will be $1 (plus Eventbrite fees/tax) to allow anyone who has ever wanted to attend a DPW event the ability to do so,” they wrote. “There will be an option to donate on Eventbrite & we will be collecting donations at the event. All the money from the gate & donations from the December 12th event will be donated to a local North Carolina food bank, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. DEADLOCK itself will match the gate & donations up to $10,000. The Eventbrite page will go up later this week.”

Based out of North Carolina, the promotion opened back in 2021. Talent that have competed in their shows include Colby Corino, Tom Lawlor, Mike Bailey, Jake Something, Emi Sakura, Konosuke Takeshita, the Grizzled Young Veterans, the Motor City Machine Guns, Mustafa Ali, and Roderick Strong.

New tag team walk out prior to AEW Collision

According to a new report, potential new AEW tag team Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize walked out prior to a planned tag team match at AEW Collision.

PWInsider first reported that Newell and Alize were in Houston and scheduled to lose to Tay Melo and Anna Jay. According to the report, the two “balked” after being scheduled to lose for a second week in a row and left an hour before bell time, replaced by Hyan and Maya World on the show.

According to the report, AEW was appreciative of Hyan and World stepping in as last minute replacements who “gained points internally.” It was also said that Alize and Newell were not believed to be under AEW contract.

Bryan Alvarez has additionally confirmed PWInsider’s report, citing that there were issues last week as well and people were surprised that they were brought back this week.

Fightful reported that while they didn’t expect to win the match, they wanted more time than was scheduled, which was three minutes. They were told that the times had been set and couldn’t be changed.

Alize wrote on social media on Saturday that both she and Newell had a lot to say. Both have re-tweeted messages of support from fans in the hours since Collision took place.

The team, who are also a couple in real life, made their debut on the October 29 edition of Collision losing to Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne. Newell previously competed in WWE and NXT under the name Tegan Nox before being released last year. Alize competed in Ring of Honor before it was purchased by Tony Khan.

Rikishi opens up following recent emergency surgery

Rikishi has opened up about his recent emergency surgery.

On his podcast, the former Intercontinental Champion, 60, didn’t share specific details regarding what led him to the hospital, but did say he spent six hours under the knife.

“I’m not gonna go into details about everything about what happened, and so forth,” he said. “It was an emergency type of surgery, and I’m gonna leave it at that. It took about six hours…I woke up feeling great, you know what I mean, I feel like a new person.”

Rikishi recommended people check in with their doctors, saying he was one of those people who didn’t do that. He later explained that his ailment was caught “just in time,” and is enjoying a new perspective in life.

“I woke up, you know, feeling a different way when I got wheeled back to the room…meaning just grateful,” he said. “There’s so much to life than to be able to be upset at each other…life, to me, is not so bad after all when you give it another chance to live.”

PWInsider reported last month that the former WWE star and father of The Usos & Solo Sikoa had undergone emergency surgery, without any additional details as to what happened. He co-owns the Knokx Pro Wrestling Academy, which recently was the subject of controversy after the Raja Jackson/Syko Stu incident earlier this summer.

AEW Full Gear notes: Tailgate Brawl, Casino Gauntlet match

Some notes ahead of AEW Full Gear.

During Saturday’s Collision, JetSpeed were interviewed after interfering in FTR’s match, leading to a surprise win by the Bang Bang Gang. After saying they weren’t done with FTR, both men expressed interest in participating in the Casino Gauntlet match at Full Gear, which will take place on November 22 in Newark, New Jersey. The winner of the match will be crowned the first-ever AEW National Champion.

Also on Collision, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens were interviewed. Both made it clear that they no longer wanted to team with one another, saying The Acclaimed were done. Bowens announced that his first step forward will be at the Full Gear Tailgate Brawl in two weeks. However, Lexi Nair made note that Khan has seen that whenever the two are together, ratings and merchandise go up, so if they plan on being at the Tailgate Brawl, it would have to be together.

After hearing that news, Bowens said he wanted the match canceled, with Caster agreeing. It wasn’t clear what match the two would be taking part in.

Team advantages decided for AEW Blood & Guts

The advantages in the men’s and women’s Blood & Guts matches have been determined.

After Jamie Hayter defeated Skye Blue to even the odds on Saturday, Harley Cameron faced Thekla in a match to determine the advantage of the women’s Blood and Guts match. Although competitive, Cameron missed a swanton bomb towards the end of the match, allowing Thekla to connect with a spear to win the advantage for her team heading into Wednesday.

In the main event of Collision, Jon Moxley faced off against Roderick Strong in a match to determine the advantage for the men’s match. Towards the end, Moxley attempted to get back into the ring but was held back by someone under the ring, grabbing Moxley by the leg. This distraction led to Moxley being counted out, giving the win and advantage to Strong’s team.

After the match, PAC went to investigate under the ring and found two things: a taser and Darby Allin.  PAC sold the taser as Allin used it to exit the ringside area, closing out the show.

Two wrestling legends to appear at AEW Blood & Guts

Two legends will appear at Blood & Guts this Wednesday.

It was announced during AEW Collision on Saturday that Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat and Ric Flair would be in attendance this Wednesday in Greensboro, North Carolina. Both wrestlers have a well renowned history with the city, a longtime wrestling hotbed dating back to the days of the Mid-Atlantic territory.

Ric Flair has appeared on AEW television before, with his energy drink being associated with the promotion at one point. Back in May, he appeared on an episode of Collision to pay tribute to former Four Horsemen member Steve ‘Mongo’ McMichael.

Steamboat has also previously appeared on AEW television in an angle with Ricky Starks, where Starks attacked Steamboat with a strap that ultimately led to a strap match between Starks and Bryan Danielson.

The updated lineup for Dynamite:

  • Ricky Steamboat & Ric Flair to appear

WWE SmackDown star suspended in storyline following attack

Drew McIntyre has apparently gone too far.

The end of Friday’s SmackDown had Cody Rhodes wrestling Aleister Black in the main event. Towards the end of the match, McIntyre resurfaced and laid out Cody with the claymore kick. It soon turned into a two-on-one assault until Damian Priest ran down to the ring to even the odds. Nick Aldis came out among the chaos and declared he had it with McIntyre, suspending him effective immediately.

SmackDown closed with McIntyre arguing with Aldis, repeatedly stating that his back was against the wall. After the show ended, WWE’s social media posted further footage of McIntyre arguing with Aldis backstage, ultimately being forced to leave the building.

McIntyre likely has sore feelings about last weekend’s edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he faced Cody in a match where the WWE title could change hands via count out or disqualification. McIntyre introduced the WWE title into the match in an attempt to use it, but was unable to. The finish had Cody deciding to use the title to his benefit by planting McIntyre with a DDT on top of the title while the referee was laid out, then finished him off with crossroads for the win.

Prior to their match, McIntyre was set to face Jacob Fatu in a number one contendership match. When Fatu wound up being jumped backstage, Cody blamed McIntyre and offered to put up the WWE title right then and there. However, he lost via disqualification after he struck McIntyre with the title. Last Friday, McIntyre refused to sign their contract for Saturday Night’s Main Event until Cody agreed to the stipulations that benefitted him, with Cody agreeing.

Chelsea Green wins Women’s United States title on WWE SmackDown

A new Women’s United States Champion has been crowned.

Chelsea Green is now the first-ever two time Women’s United States Champion, defeating Giulia on Friday in shocking fashion. After just over a minute of action, Kiana James helped Giulia at ringside by giving Green an elbow. Alba Fyre at ringside responded with a superkick. Giulia took out Fyre, but the distraction allowed Green to roll up the now former champion, putting her feet on the ropes for the surprise win.

After the match, Green celebrated with her tag team partner Ethan Page at ringside. He lifted her in the air as she held both of her championships.

Green has seen momentum in recent weeks, continuing her partnership with NXT’s Page that began earlier in the year. Last weekend at AAA’s Day of the Dead television taping, they defeated Mr. Iguana and La Hiedra to win the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles. Green now joins Page as a double champion, as he also holds the NXT North American title.

On Tuesday, the two were celebrating their Mixed Tag Team title win when Joe Hendry and Thea Hail interrupted, making it clear they wanted the first shot at the titles at Gold Rush. The show ended with the two getting pies thrown in their faces.

NXT star forms alliance with Nia Jax on WWE SmackDown

Lash Legend appears to have moved to the main roster.

Nia Jax was wrestling Charlotte Flair on Friday when Lash appeared in the stands, attacking Alexa Bliss at ringside. Legend bearhugged Bliss as Jax scored the win, hitting the annihilator. After the match the two celebrated Jax’s win, cementing their alliance.

Backstage, Nia Jax said she recalled Bliss & Flair telling her that she needed a friend, and now confirmed that she had one, mocking Bliss & Flair’s tentative relationship. Lash said that the two were going to the top, and tonight was just the beginning.

WrestleVotes is reporting that with Legend’s appearance on Friday, she’s officially moved to the main roster.

Legend, who held NCAA records in college basketball and formerly played in the WNBA, signed with WWE in 2020 and started appearing on NXT television the following year. Most notably, she was part of the Meta Four stable with Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, and Jakara Jackson. After the stable broke up earlier this year, Legend branched out as a singles wrestler, recently feuding with Jaida Parker. Her most recent NXT match was on October 28, losing to Kendal Grey in a match that was for the EVOLVE Women’s title.

WWE submits new filing for previous trademark

WWE is reviving an old trademark it previously abandoned.

On November 6, WWE filed a trademark for the term ‘Tribal Heir’. It was previously trademarked in late 2023, but had been abandoned until recently.

When WWE first used the trademark, it was designated for Solo Sikoa, who was named Tribal Heir by Roman Reigns after Jimmy Uso thought it would go to him. After Reigns lost the WWE title at WrestleMania 40 and disappeared from television, Sikoa took things a step further and declared himself the Tribal Chief. When Reigns returned the two feuded, culminating in a match for the right to be named Tribal Chief on the first episode of Raw on Netflix early this year. Reigns emerged victorious, solidifying himself as the one true Tribal Chief.

The filing could also be related to Jey Uso, who in recent weeks has been listening more to Roman Reigns, something that Jimmy Uso doesn’t seem to be a fan of. Jey also seems to be at a crossroads after losing the World Heavyweight Championship match to CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event last weekend.

Omos on AJ Styles’ upcoming retirement: ‘He’s truly the Phenomenal One’

Omos has nothing put praise for his former tag team partner.

In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Omos said that while it is sad AJ Styles is planning on retiring next year, he’s one of the greats, and is happy he’ll now have more time to spend with his family.

“He’s one of the greats. He’s wrestled for over twenty five years at this point. It’s sad that someone as great as him is going to be hanging up the boots, but still, I’m happy because knowing him personally, I know that he’s also a family man. He has a beautiful family, and I also know that he’s getting to spend time with his kids,” he said.

“He’s been successful in every company he’s ever wrestled, from Ring of Honor, New Japan, TNA, WWE. He’s done it all, he’s done everything man. He’s truly the Phenomenal One. That moniker is not just a moniker just for nothing. It means something. He’s done it at the highest level for twenty five years and still continues to do so,” he further added.

Omos’ first major storyline in WWE was teaming with Styles, and at one point the duo won the Raw Tag Team titles together. Omos eventually turned against Styles and aligned with MVP. In the years since, Omos has only made sporadic appearances on WWE-aligned programming. In the last year, he took part in a tour for Pro Wrestling NOAH and also appeared at AAA Triplemania, competing in a battle royal.

Title matches and challenges made for WWE NXT Gold Rush

Title matches and challenges were made for NXT Gold Rush.

Kelani Jordan cemented her heel turn on this week’s NXT, saying she was going to embrace being selfish and wouldn’t defend the title all the time. If that makes her a traitor, then so be it. She then said she knew Lei Ying Lee had called her out, but she is choosing instead to not defend her title at Gold Rush. Later backstage, Jordan told Ava that she isn’t the GM of TNA and can’t make her defend the title.

After defeating Tyra Mae Steel later in the night, Santino Marella appeared and announced Jordan would, in fact, defend the title in a triple threat match against Jordynne Grace and Lei Ying Lee later this month.

Blake Monroe noted last week that she was due to defend the North American title at Gold Rush. Meeting with Ava this week, the General Manager of NXT told Monroe that she would be defending the title against Sol Ruca if she is able to get medically cleared ahead of time. Monroe didn’t seem happy about that, but left after hearing from her “significant other” that will interview her next week.

The end of the show saw new AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Ethan Page and Chelsea Green celebrate their title win from over the weekend. Page proclaimed that they would defend the titles against anyone. Green said she wished “Joe” was here, but Page told her not to say his full name. After preparing weapons, they went ahead and said his name, thinking he was in their celebratory cake. But Hendry instead appeared on the ramp and said he wanted to go after the Mixed Tag Team titles. He revealed his tag team partner who in fact was in the cake: Thea Hail.

It was also confirmed that the finals of the tournament to crown a new Women’s Speed Champion would take place at Gold Rush. Zaria won her qualifying match on Tuesday, defeating Wren Sinclair. She will face the winner between Skylar Raye and Falllon Henley, which takes place next week.

Here is the updated lineup for NXT Gold Rush:

WWE NXT Gold Rush (November 11 & 18)

  • Three-way for TNA Knockouts title: Kelani Jordan defends against Lei Ying Lee and Jordynne Grace
  • NXT Women’s North American title: Blake Monroe defends against Sol Ruca (if Ruca is cleared)
  • AAA Mixed Tag Team titles: Ethan Page & Chelsea Green defend against Joe Hendry & Thea Hail (challenge issued)
  • Speed Women’s Championship: Zaria vs. Winner between Skylar Rae and Fallon Henley

First competitor advances in women’s WWE Speed Championship tournament

The first competitor in a four-woman tournament to crown a new Women’s WWE Speed Champion has advanced.

Zaria was able to defeat Wren Sinclair on NXT to advance to the finals, which will take place at NXT Gold Rush later this month. At the 40 second mark, Zaria hit a spear then finished Sinclair with the Zone of Destruction (F5) for the win.

After the match, Zaria’s tag team partner Sol Ruca applauded Zaria’s win. With the victory, Zaria will face the winner between Fallon Henley and Skylar Raye, with their match set for next week’s NXT.

Sol Ruca vacated her Speed Championship after suffering a leg injury last month on SmackDown, where she and Zaria failed to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles from Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. When she was scheduled to defend the Women’s North American title at Halloween Havoc, Ruca allowed Zaria to wrestle in her place. This proved to be costly, as Blake Monroe pinned Zaria to win the title.

When Ruca decided to vacate the Speed title, she chose to do so over the option of having Zaria defend the title for her, causing a source of friction between the two.

AEW no longer has training ring in Florida following Nashville move

AEW has moved their storage.

Bryan Alvarez is reporting that AEW recently moved all of their storage items from Florida over to Nashville. But the move also involved taking a ring wrestlers used to train as part of their recovery process.

“AEW got rid of their Florida storage until and moved everything to Nashville, so there is no longer a training ring in Florida,” he wrote. “This is notable because that’s where the wrestlers would go to work out and try to get cleared. Not sure what the plan is now.”

AEW has seen a rash of injuries in 2025 where some of their top stars are now out of action. Will Ospreay underwent neck surgery following Forbidden Door, where he was written off after being attacked by the Death Riders. In addition, Swerve Strickland underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Despite this, there have been recent returns. Hook returned to action in August after suffering a concussion. And after being sidelined for over a year, Eddie Kingston made his return at All Out, defeating Big Bill. In the time since then, he and Hook have started teaming together, earning a win over The Frat House during the AEW WrestleDream pre-show.
