Jelly Roll vs. Kit Wilson, Women’s US title match set for next WWE SmackDown

Jelly Roll will be in action next week.

The music star demanded and got a match for next week’s SmackDown in Pittsburgh against Kit Wilson after Wilson laid out Jelly Roll following during a slam poetry read-off. The Bella Twins will also be in action, and the Women’s United States title will be on the line.

Jelly Roll answered Kit Wilson’s callout and immediately demanded a fight. Wilson rejected the offer and instead proposed a slam poetry read-off, which was designed to insult Jelly Roll’s weight loss among other issues. After Jelly Roll fired off with some comebacks involving Wilson’s mother, Wilson retaliated by laying out Jelly Roll and striking him with a diving elbow. Later in the show, Jelly Roll recovered enough to walk up to Nick Aldis demand a match, which he got for next week.

The Bella Twins and Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss will meet after the latter team interfered in the twin’s WWE Tag Team title match against champions Lash Legend & Nia Jax, causing a DQ. The three teams brawled after the match but much like last week, the segment ended with Jax and Legend standing tall.

Giulia will defend the United States title against Tiffany Stratton, indicating on this week’s show that she was upset that Stratton had embarrassed her the previous week. The segment also hinted at dissension between Kiana James and Giulia.

Chelsea Green wins Women’s United States title on WWE SmackDown

A new Women’s United States Champion has been crowned.

Chelsea Green is now the first-ever two time Women’s United States Champion, defeating Giulia on Friday in shocking fashion. After just over a minute of action, Kiana James helped Giulia at ringside by giving Green an elbow. Alba Fyre at ringside responded with a superkick. Giulia took out Fyre, but the distraction allowed Green to roll up the now former champion, putting her feet on the ropes for the surprise win.

After the match, Green celebrated with her tag team partner Ethan Page at ringside. He lifted her in the air as she held both of her championships.

Green has seen momentum in recent weeks, continuing her partnership with NXT’s Page that began earlier in the year. Last weekend at AAA’s Day of the Dead television taping, they defeated Mr. Iguana and La Hiedra to win the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles. Green now joins Page as a double champion, as he also holds the NXT North American title.

On Tuesday, the two were celebrating their Mixed Tag Team title win when Joe Hendry and Thea Hail interrupted, making it clear they wanted the first shot at the titles at Gold Rush. The show ended with the two getting pies thrown in their faces.

Future United States title challenger crowned on WWE SmackDown

The following are spoilers for tonight’s WWE SmackDown, currently airing live on Netflix and at 8 PM on USA in the U.S.

In less than ten seconds on WWE SmackDown, the next challenger for reigning WWE Women’s United States Champion Giulia was crowned.

Michin earned a future shot at the champion with the super quick victory over Kiana James who ran at Michin with a loaded purse. Michin rolled her up to get the quick pin and then was beaten down by James and Giulia who was at ringside. The segment ended with Giulia surfboarding Michin’s arms and driving her face-first into the ringside steps.

It was James’ first televised match on SmackDown and her first match since mid-July when she lost to Michin on Main Event.

As noted on commentary, the 36-year-old Michin has never held a title during her time in WWE while Giulia has held the gold for over two months with one title defense to her name.

While a date has yet to be announced for the match as of this writing, it will be their first ever time squaring off.

Chelsea Green crowned first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion

Chelsea Green has made history.

Green defeated Michin at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event to become the first-ever Women’s United States Champion. The finish had Michin dropkick Piper Niven off the apron. Green, who was on the top turnbuckle, used the distraction to roll over Michin and connect with the unprettier for the win.

After the match, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis awarded the title to Green as she celebrated her title win with Niven.

WWE introduced the title last month, serving as a secondary women’s title to the SmackDown brand. Michin defeated Lash Legend and Piper Niven in the first round, then defeated Tiffany Stratton in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Green defeated Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in the opening round and Bayley in the semifinals.

A similar tournament is currently being held on the Raw brand to crown the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. On Monday’s Raw, Lyra Valkyria advanced out of the first round by defeating Ivy Nile and Zelina Vega.

Chelsea Green advances to WWE Women’s US title tournament semifinals

Chelsea Green is moving on in the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament.

Green won a three-way on Friday night’s WWE SmackDown episode to advance in the tournament to crown the first-ever Women’s United States Champion.

After a Jade Cargill injury angle provided a distraction, Green defeated Blair Davenport and Bianca Belair in the triple threat quarterfinals matchup. Green will face Bayley in the United States title tournament at a later date after Bayley advanced on last week’s SmackDown.

The Cargill injury angle played out as she was shown backstage on the hood of a car, seemingly hit by a mystery assailant. After the tournament bout, Belair jumped into an ambulance to accompany Cargill to a hospital in storyline.

Cargill was set for action in the tournament on next week’s episode, but WWE announced that a mystery wrestler will take Cargill’s place.

The remaining quarterfinals matches in the tournament are a mystery replacement for Cargill vs. Michin vs. Piper Niven, plus Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Elektra Lopez.

WWE reveals bracket for Women’s United States title tournament

The brackets for the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament have been revealed.

Triple H on social media shared a photo of the brackets shortly before SmackDown on Friday. The first-ever champion will be crowned at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14. The first tournament bout took place on SmackDown, with Bayley defeating B-Fab and Candice LeRae in a three-way match.

Bayley will now advance to the semifinals, where she will face the winner of a match between Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green, and Blair Davenport. The other side of the bracket has Jade Cargill taking on Michin and Piper Niven, while the fourth and final match of the opening round has Naomi taking on Tiffany Stratton and Elektra Lopez.

WWE unveiled the new championship on last week’s SmackDown. It is unknown if WWE plans to follow through with a Women’s Intercontinental title for Raw. A Women’s North American title was recently established in NXT, with Kelani Jordan becoming the first champion earlier this year.

WWE introduces Women’s United States Championship

There is a new title in WWE.

On Friday’s SmackDown, general manager Nick Aldis introduced the WWE Women’s United States Championship in a vignette, declaring the belt’s introduction another opportunity for WWE’s women’s division to showcase its talent and ruthlessness as they continue to “shatter glass ceilings.”

In the vignette, Aldis said that the title will not be handed out, but one competitor will seize the opportunity and become the inaugural Women’s United States Champion.

Further details as to how the first champion will be decided have yet to be revealed.

Michael Cole and Corey Graves spoke on commentary about the prestige of the men’s US title and how Hall of Famers from Harley Race to John Cena have held it, and how the new title will provide an opportunity for a current women’s star to elevate their career.

Our full report from Friday’s SmackDown in Buffalo is available here.
