WWE WrestleMania 41 card updates

In the newly released edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer gave an update on where things currently stand with the WrestleMania 41 card.

Meltzer confirms that there are currently seven matches slated for each night, including a War Raiders vs. New Day match for the World Tag Team titles on night one that has yet to be publicly announced. Another tag title bout — WWE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits vs. Motor City Machine Guns — could potentially be added to either night or could take place on the SmackDown before WrestleMania.

A new opponent for Randy Orton has not been made official yet after Kevin Owens had to withdraw from the show due to needing neck surgery. Orton is still listed for the card internally.

WrestleMania is taking place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and is now just over a week away. Here is what the card currently looks like (unconfirmed if this is the match order):

Night one (Saturday, April 19) —

  • Main event: Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Seth Rollins
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
  • Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano (Chad Gable)
  • United States Champion LA Knight defends against Jacob Fatu
  • Jade Cargill vs. Naomi
  • World Tag Team Champions The War Raiders (Ivar & Erik) defend against New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) — likely to have a stipulation added after their most recent match ended in a DQ
  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso

Night two (Sunday, April 20) —

  • Main event: Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against John Cena
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez defend against TBD (challengers will be decided in a gauntlet match on SmackDown this Friday)
  • AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul
  • Randy Orton vs. ?
  • Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker defends against Penta, Finn Balor, and Dominik Mysterio in a four-way match
  • Women’s World Champion IYO SKY defends against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley in a triple threat match

“Peacock was listing both shows from 4 p.m. Eastern to 1 a.m. Eastern,” Meltzer wrote. “Now that includes a three-hour pre-game show which means six hours for the rest. If the post-show is one hour, that would mean a five hour show. It’s pretty clear they will be going well over four hours for the wrestling show.”

Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest official for WWE WrestleMania 41

A long-expected WrestleMania 41 match has now been officially booked.

On social media this afternoon, WWE confirmed that Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest will take place at WrestleMania. The announcement comes in advance of a face-to-face confrontation between Mcintyre and Priest that’s set for SmackDown this Friday night.

WWE has not announced which night of WrestleMania the match will be happening on. The two-night event is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20.

This is technically a rematch from WrestleMania 40, where Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and quickly defeated McIntyre to win the World Heavyweight Championship. McIntyre had retained the title against Seth Rollins right before Priest’s cash-in.

Their issues picked up earlier this year when Priest eliminated McIntyre in the Royal Rumble. A recent episode of SmackDown saw Priest chokeslam McIntyre onto a car windshield. Since legitimately getting glass in his eye during that spot, McIntyre has been wearing an eye patch.

With this addition, there are now 12 matches officially announced for WrestleMania 41.

WrestleMania 41 night one (Saturday, April 19) —

  • Triple threat match: Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk (w/ Paul Heyman) vs. Seth Rollins
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso

WrestleMania 41 night two (Sunday, April 20) —

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against John Cena
  • Triple threat match: Women’s World Champion IYO SKY defends against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley

Night to be announced —

  • United States Champion LA Knight defends against Jacob Fatu
  • Four-way match: Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker defends against Penta, Finn Balor, and Dominik Mysterio
  • Jade Cargill vs. Naomi
  • AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul
  • Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez defend against TBD
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest

Triple H says it has been ‘amazing’ to see John Cena’s heel run

Triple H is amazed to see the new John Cena.

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the host asked Triple H about his thoughts on entering the Hall of Fame. Triple H explained the story about being inducted without his knowledge, only finding out during a WWE town hall meeting when Shawn Micheals and The Undertaker showed up to make the announcement.

“To have it be done that way by two guys, one is my best friend and The Undertaker is one of the biggest legends and one of the guys I respect the most in this industry, it’s very meaningful.”

Triple H also talked about Cena’s heel turn that took place back at Elimination Chamber, attacking his WrestleMania 41 opponent Cody Rhodes, saying Cena has been working hard at getting people to hate him after years of being the company’s top babyface.

“But the challenge on this is he’s in his retirement run…and he came back and turned into a bad guy. In our business, he turned heel. It’s amazing to see that transformation of John from like the most beloved character in WWE to just Darth Vader. They hate him, and he’s working very hard to make them hate him.”

He also talked about working with The Rock, both as an opponent and later as a creative mind.

“What’s cool about it is all these years later, that was like 1996 [when they first met], he and I are still collaborating on things and working together behind the scenes to make WWE as great as it can be. It’s in his blood, it’s in his DNA.”

Triple H will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next Friday as part of WrestleMania 41 weekend, with the two WrestleMania shows taking place Saturday and Sunday.

Ric Flair still under AEW contract, ‘would absolutely’ be at WrestleMania if he could

Despite not appearing for the company since March 2024, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is still under an AEW contract and won’t be involved in the John Cena storyline as he approaches breaking Flair’s World title record leading into WWE WrestleMania 41.

During a Tuesday appearance on Busted Open Radio where he addressed last Friday’s newsworthy Charlotte Flair/Tiffany Stratton promo segment, Flair said he still works for AEW, something that had flown under the radar even though he had casually mentioned it in interviews over the last year.

Dave Meltzer confirmed the news with both Flair and AEW.

“I work for another company. I’m sure I’d be more than welcome (at WrestleMania). It’s competition. (AEW) opens up more opportunities for guys to work. If I wasn’t working with Tony (Khan), I would be absolutely be there. You couldn’t keep me out of the building,” he said.

He didn’t specify and was not asked if WWE had approached him to be involved. His current deal is not considered to be a restrictive contract even though Flair said it was “very difficult for him to participate in activities while I’m working for Tony (Khan),” putting over the AEW head as “the greatest guy in the world.”

Flair was mentioned by name during one of the recent promo segments between Cena and Cody Rhodes as part of the build to their WrestleMania match. He was also referenced during the aforementioned Charlotte/Stratton segment.

In July 2024, it was reported that Flair was done with AEW as there were no creative plans for him with his energy drink company’s sponsorship wrapping up. Khan had said at one point that the sponsorship was “essentially paying” for Flair to appear on TV. In a November 2023 appearance on Wrestling Observer Radio a month after he made his on-screen debut, Flair said it was a two-year deal.

“I’m not mad about it by any means. Every time (WWE) talks about the title record, my name gets mentioned. It keeps me relevant. It’s cool,” he said.

While he thinks Rhodes should retain the undisputed WWE title against Cena later this month, Flair said if Cena breaks the unofficial record and becomes a 17-time World champion, he’s absolutely ok with that.

“I’m extremely happy for John. I wish I could be there and shake his hand. I actually wanted Charlotte to break the record, but if he breaks it, more power to him. I cannot say enough good things about John Cena,” Flair said, later discussing some of the various title changes he had in his career that weren’t recognized that put his actual record at more than 20.

Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano added to WWE WrestleMania 41

El Grande Americano will make his WrestleMania debut against Rey Mysterio.

The new match for WrestleMania 41 was announced during Monday’s Raw following a six-man tag team match. Americano, Brutus Creed, and Julius Creed defeated Mysterio’s LWO teammates Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro on Raw.

Americano used a steel plate in his mask to hit headbutts on Mysterio, who was ringside for the contest, and Lee, leading to the win for American Made.

Later, Mysterio demanded a WrestleMania match against Americano, with Raw GM Adam Pearce agreeing to the contest.

Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced in a social media post on Monday that Bron Breakker will put his IC title on the line in Las Vegas against Penta, Finn Balor, and Dominik Mysterio in a four-way match.

The announcement was followed up on Monday’s WWE Raw with a backstage interaction between The Judgment Day’s Balor and Mysterio, continuing to tease dissension between the supposed allies as they go after Breakker’s title at WrestleMania.

Women’s World title match at WWE WrestleMania 41 now a three-way

As expected, the Women’s World title match at WWE WrestleMania will indeed be a triple threat bout.

WWE Raw general manager Adam Pearce announced in Raw’s opening segment that IYO SKY will defend her Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 41 against Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley.

Belair earned the World title shot by winning the women’s Elimination Chamber match at the EC PLE in March, while Ripley forced her way into the title picture by simply declaring for the match.

A SKY vs. Ripley title match on last week’s Raw with Belair as guest referee was meant to settle the matter, but the bout ended in a no contest, so Pearce made the originally scheduled SKY vs. Belair match a triple threat also involving Ripley.

Damian Priest challenges Drew McIntyre for WWE WrestleMania 41

Another WWE WrestleMania 41 bout came one step closer to fruition on Friday’s SmackDown.

Damian Priest issued a challenge to Drew McIntyre for WrestleMania 41 in a vignette on Friday’s episode, although the match has yet to be made official for the April 19 and April 20 two-night event.

McIntyre vs. Priest has been heavily teased since this year’s Royal Rumble match where Priest eliminated McIntyre from the contest.

In an angle on last week’s SmackDown in London, Priest slammed McIntyre on a car windshield backstage, with McIntyre claiming that he legitimately got glass in his eye from the angle. McIntyre wore an eye patch for his backstage promo segment on this week’s SmackDown episode.

Priest and McIntyre in a face-to-face segment has also been announced for next week’s SmackDown.

Earlier in Friday’s show, Knight scored a victory over Fatu’s Bloodline teammate Tama Tonga in singles competition in a tune-up bout ahead of WrestleMania.

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis made the Naomi vs. Cargill bout official for WrestleMania on Friday’s SmackDown after a pull-apart between the two.

Naomi defeated B-Fab in singles competition on Friday’s show, then attempted to call Cargill out for a confrontation. Cargill attacked unexpectedly instead, and the two competitors were pulled apart. Aldis then made the WrestleMania bout official.

In storyline, Naomi attacked Cargill last November, forcing her to relinquish her spot as Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bianca Belair. Naomi then assumed Cargill’s title. Cargill returned at Elimination Chamber in March, revealing Naomi as her attacker.

Several new additions to the WrestleMania 41 card were made during Friday’s show, including a United States title bout.

AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul official for WWE WrestleMania 41

With WrestleMania fast approaching, WWE has made a new match official for the show.

AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul is now confirmed for the WrestleMania 41 card. WWE posted a video with general manager Adam Pearce announcing the match after a confrontation between Styles and Paul took place on Monday’s episode of Raw in London.

The feud between Styles and Paul has been progressing since Paul eliminated Styles from the 2025 Royal Rumble. Styles challenged Paul to face him in London during their confrontation today, but Paul said he does not fight for free and suggested WrestleMania as the right venue for their match. Things turned physical when Paul went for a cheap shot. Styles was initially able to fight him off until Paul used a low blow and laid Styles out with the Paulverizer.

This will be Styles’ ninth time competing at WrestleMania. For Paul, it’s his fourth WrestleMania match.

We are now less than three weeks away from WrestleMania, which will be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20. Here is everything that has been confirmed for the show so far:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against John Cena
  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
  • Women’s World Champion IYO SKY defends against Bianca Belair
  • Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins (will main event night one)
  • Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens
  • AJ Styles vs. Logan Paul

CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reign ‘closing out’ WWE WrestleMania 41

CM Punk is getting his WWE WrestleMania 41 main event.

The main event of SmackDown saw Punk, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns sign their contract for WrestleMania 41 next month. After everyone made their entrance, Paul Heyman revealed to CM Punk that his dream was finally coming true as the triple threat match would be “closing out” WrestleMania.

An irate Rollins lashed out upon hearing the news, saying that Punk didn’t deserve it. As Punk was thanking the fans, Reigns cut him off and said that Punk should thank and acknowledge him instead. Punk got down on one knee and thanked Reigns and said that because of him, he’ll headline the main event of WrestleMania.

Punk, however, then revealed something that Reigns didn’t like: headlining WrestleMania was not the favor Heyman owed him.

After Reigns got involved in the steel cage match between Rollins and Punk on a recent edition of Raw, all three men met on last week’s SmackDown. It ended up becoming a pull-apart brawl, with the three-way match for WrestleMania soon becoming official.

The current lineup for WrestleMania 41:

WWE WrestleMania 41, Saturday, April 19 & Sunday, April 20 —

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against John Cena
  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
  • Women’s World Champion IYO SKY defends against Bianca Belair
  • Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins (set to close one night)
  • Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins official for WWE WrestleMania 41

A triple threat match featuring three of WWE’s biggest stars is official for WrestleMania 41.

Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins has officially been added to the WrestleMania 41 event set for Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 in Las Vegas.

The match was officially announced late Friday in a social media post from WWE’s chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Reigns, Punk, and Rollins closed this week’s SmackDown show with a brawl breaking out among the three. Punk eliminated Reigns from the Royal Rumble in February after teaming with Reigns in a WarGames match at Survivor Series this past November.

Rollins and Punk have been embroiled in a rivalry on Raw that included Punk defeating Rollins on the Netflix premiere episode in January, then Rollins beating Punk in a cage match on Raw earlier this month after Reigns interfered to attack Punk.

Six bouts are official for the two-night WrestleMania 41 event. The shows will stream live on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix internationally.

The current lineup:

WWE WrestleMania 41, Saturday, April 19 & Sunday, April 20 —

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against John Cena
  • World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Jey Uso
  • WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defends against Charlotte Flair
