Laredo Kid off TNA Sacrifice due to travel issues

TNA Wrestling has had to change up one of the matches planned for tonight’s Sacrifice event.

TNA announced this afternoon that, while Crazzy Steve vs. Laredo Kid for the Digital Media Championship was planned for the Sacrifice pre-show, that will no longer be happening. Laredo Kid is off Sacrifice due to travel issues. In his place, Joe Hendry will challenge for Crazzy Steve’s title.

“Laredo Kid is unable to compete at Sacrifice due to travel issues,” TNA announced. “He was meant to challenge Crazzy Steve for the Digital Media Championship on Countdown to Sacrifice, however Santino Marella has put the longest reigning Digital Media Champion, Joe Hendry, in his place against Crazzy Steve.”

Crazzy Steve has been Digital Media Champion since defeating Tommy Dreamer for the title this January.

Countdown to Sacrifice begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time and streams live for free on TNA+ and TNA’s YouTube channel. Mike Bailey & Trent Seven vs. The Rascalz is also set for the pre-show.

The Sacrifice main card begins at 8 p.m. Eastern. It will air on TNA+ and TNA’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service.

TNA Sacrifice bout changed, new match set for pre-show

TNA has announced a change to the main card for Friday’s Sacrifice event, plus a new match for the Countdown to Sacrifice pre-show.

On the main card, Mustafa Ali will now team with Grizzled Young Veterans against Motor City Machine Guns & KUSHIDA.

That match was originally announced as Ali teaming with John Skyler & Jason Hotch, and Chris Sabin & KUSHIDA teaming with Kevin Knight, but Ali swapped out his partners during a segment on Thursday’s Impact episode, then an injury angle was done following Ali vs. Knight on Impact. Alex Shelley then stepped in as the injury replacement for Knight.

In the new match for the Countdown show, Speedball Mountain (Mike Bailey & Trent Seven) will continue their rivalry with Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz in tag team action.

Tag Team title match added to TNA Sacrifice

A Tag Team title match is the latest addition to the card for TNA Wrestling’s Sacrifice special.

Sacrifice is taking place from Windsor, Ontario, Canada next Friday (March 8). The show will air live on TNA+ and for subscribers to TNA’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service.

It was announced today that TNA Tag Team Champions ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) will defend their titles against Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers at Sacrifice. The match was made official after Myers pinned Bey on this week’s Impact.

The main event of Thursday’s Impact episode was The System (Moose, Edwards & Myers) defeating Eric Young, Austin & Bey. Young is challenging Moose for the TNA World Championship at Sacrifice.

Austin & Bey are two-time TNA Tag Team Champions. Their current reign with the titles began at Bound for Glory last October.

Recently, ABC retained their belts against The Grizzled Young Veterans in a best-of-three series. The series ended with ABC winning 2-1 after Austin & Bey defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans at No Surrender.

Edwards & Myers picked up a victory over KUSHIDA & Kevin Knight on the No Surrender pre-show.

Four new matches official for TNA Sacrifice

Four new matches are official for TNA Sacrifice on Friday, March 8.

After potential top contenders Tasha Steelz & Xia Brookside went to a double countout on Thursday’s Impact, Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace announced that she would defend her title against both competitors at Sacrifice in a triple threat bout.

Nic Nemeth will also return to a TNA ring at Sacrifice against Steve Maclin. MAcin defeated Mike Bailey on Thursday’s Impact, then called Nemeth out. Nemeth responded with a video saying that while he was off winning the IWGP Global Championship in NJPW, he was challenging Maclin to a match. The bout was later made official on Impact.

A trios match has also been added to the Sacrifice card. New X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali will team with John Skyler & Jason Hotch against Chris Sabin, KUSHIDA & Kevin Knight at the event after the trio crashed Ali’s title celebration ceremony on Impact.

Also set for the show is Josh Alexander vs. new TNA signee Alex Hammerstone in a rematch from January’s Hard to Kill show. We covered Hammerstone’s signing here.

Already announced for Sacrifice, TNA World Champion Moose will defend his title against Eric Young after Young earned the number one contender’s spot with a win over Frankie Kazarian at No Surrender.

The updated card for Sacrifice, which airs Friday, March 8 on TNA Plus:

  • TNA World Champion Moose defends against Eric Young
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace defends against Tasha Steelz & Xia Brookside in a triple threat

Alex Hammerstone signs with TNA, will face Josh Alexander at Sacrifice

Former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone has signed with TNA Wrestling.

TNA announced during Thursday’s Impact episode that Hammerstone has signed with the company and will face Josh Alexander at Sacrifice on Friday, March 8 in a Hard to Kill rematch.

Hammerstone announced last October that he had requested his release from MLW, but later returned to the promotion in November. He later revealed that his contract with the company expired at the end of 2023 and that he planned to hit free agency as 2024 began, posting a video on social media on January 1 issuing an open challenge.

TNA’s Josh Alexander accepted the open challenge and the two met at Hard to Kill in January, with Alexander scoring a victory in the first meeting. A rematch between the two has now been announced for the TNA Plus Sacrifice special on Friday, March 8.

Aside from his one TNA match this year, Hammerstone has also wrestled for GCW and a variety of independent promotions as a free agent.

There is no word from TNA as to whether Hammerstone’s deal makes him exclusive to the company.

Five matches are currently set for Sacrifice. The current lineup:

TNA Sacrifice, Friday, March 8 on TNA Plus —

  • TNA World Champion Moose defends against Eric Young
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace defends against Xia Brookside & Tasha Steelz in a triple threat
