Bayley vs. Tiffany Stratton announced for WWE SmackDown

A grudge match between Bayley and Tiffany Stratton will go down on SmackDown this Friday night.

WWE announced the matchup this afternoon in a video posted by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Last week, Bayley returned to WWE programming for the first time since losing the WWE Women’s Championship to Nia Jax at SummerSlam. Stratton — who holds the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase — distracted Bayley during that match.

Bayley then made her return on last Friday’s SmackDown from Berlin, helping Michin even the odds after Stratton got involved in a Jax vs. Michin street fight for the WWE Women’s Championship. Jax still retained her title despite Bayley chasing Stratton away.

Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is the venue for SmackDown this Friday. It’s the last episode of the show that will air on Fox before SmackDown moves to USA Network starting on September 13.

The updated card is listed below:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, September 6) —

  • Cody Rhodes responds to Solo Sikoa’s Undisputed WWE Championship challenge
  • Eight-man tag match: Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa & Jacob Fatu)
  • Bayley vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Giovanni Vinci returns

Opening segment, new match announced for WWE SmackDown

On the road to SummerSlam, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will kick off SmackDown tonight.

WWE has officially confirmed that Rhodes will defend his title against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 3. Tonight, Rhodes will address Sikoa in the opening segment of SmackDown.

“We’re kicking things off here in Omaha, Nebraska with the American Nightmare — the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes,” SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced. “I don’t know what he wants to talk about specifically, but I’ll bet that WWE title match with Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam is one of the things on the agenda. As for the rest? Well, we’ll find out together.”

To set up the SummerSlam title bout, Sikoa pinned Rhodes in a six-man tag match in the main event of Money in the Bank. Last week’s SmackDown ended with The Bloodline putting Randy Orton through the announce table after he tried to save Rhodes from a beatdown. Sikoa forced Rhodes to watch on as Orton was laid out.

WWE has also announced that Tiffany Stratton vs. Michin will take place on SmackDown tonight. Stratton, who holds the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase, was in Nia Jax’s corner when Jax defeated Michin last Friday. Jax is challenging Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

Here’s the updated SmackDown lineup for tonight:

WWE SmackDown (Friday, July 19) —

  • Contract signing for United States Champion Logan Paul vs. LA Knight at SummerSlam
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade
  • Michin vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes kicks off the episode

The 2024 women’s Money in the Bank ladder match winner will make her first appearance with the briefcase on Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

WWE announced during Monday’s Raw that Tiffany Stratton will appear on the Friday, July 12 SmackDown, six days after Stratton won the women’s ladder match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Toronto, guaranteeing Stratton a World title shot for up to one year.

Stratton has been aligned with Nia Jax in storyline in recent weeks on SmackDown, with Jax set to challenge Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam by virtue of winning the Queen of the Ring tournament.

Jax will also be in action on Friday’s SmackDown as she faces Michin in one-on-one competition.

A tag team bout with Baron Corbin & Apollo Crews teaming against Angel & Berto (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo) is also set for Friday’s show.

The updated lineup for the Friday, July 12 WWE SmackDown:

Tiffany Stratton wins women’s WWE Money in the Bank ladder match

Tiffany Stratton is the new Ms. Money in the Bank.

The 25-year-old Stratton got to experience one of the biggest moments of her young career on Saturday when she won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. As the briefcase holder, Stratton can cash in for a shot at either the WWE Women’s Championship or Women’s World Championship at any point in the next year.

Chelsea Green, IYO SKY, Naomi, Lyra Valkyria, and Zoey Stark were the other competitors in the ladder match. In her home country of Canada, Green was the crowd favorite. She was about to capture the briefcase at the end of the match until Stratton pushed Green’s ladder over and she fell through two tables that were set up on the outside. Stratton then grabbed the Money in the Bank briefcase to win the match.

If Stratton successfully cashes in, it will be her first title reign on the main roster. She held the NXT Women’s Championship once prior to being called up. Stratton is a member of the SmackDown women’s division, which WWE Women’s title holder Bayley is the current champion of.

After winning Money in the Bank, Stratton appeared in a backstage segment with Trish Stratus, who was the host of tonight’s event.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque tweeted out a photo with Stratton and congratulated her on her victory:

Tiffany Stratton says Jade Cargill Instagram post was an ‘honest mistake’

For the first time, Tiffany Stratton has addressed a since-deleted Instagram post that drew backlash from fans.

Stratton briefly shared a post to her Instagram stories this May that included video of her giving Jade Cargill a forearm strike during a match and knocking her off the apron. It also showed a close-up of Bianca Belair’s reaction to the forearm strike. Over the video, someone put in an audio clip of a person saying “Black b*tch.” The video was reposted by Stratton but not made by her. She included several crying while laughing emojis while sharing the post.

While speaking with Adrian Hernandez ahead of Money in the Bank, Stratton was asked if the post was a situation where she didn’t hear the audio and just clicked repost without listening to it.

“Yup, it was an honest mistake,” Stratton responded. “I didn’t hear the audio, and I had it up for maybe 20 seconds and I deleted it instantly as soon as I heard the audio. It was an honest mistake.”

Stratton will be one of the participants in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match this Saturday. IYO SKY, Chelsea Green, Lyra Valkyria, Naomi, and Zoey Stark are also set to compete in the match.

LA Knight, Tiffany Stratton, Naomi qualify for WWE Money in the Bank

Three more wrestlers qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder matches set for July 6 on Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

LA Knight defeated Logan Paul & Santos Escobar in a triple threat qualifying match on Friday to earn the fifth spot in the six-person men’s Money in the Bank ladder match field at next Saturday’s MITB pay-per-view. Knight pinned Paul with a roll-up after hitting Escobar with BFT to secure the victory.

In the first women’s qualifying bout on Friday’s episode, Tiffany Stratton defeated Jade Cargill & Candice LeRae in a triple threat. Stratton pinned LeRae with the PME after Indi Hartwell interfered on LeRae’s behalf and took out Cargill on the floor.

In the second women’s qualifier on Friday, Naomi defeated Hartwell & Blair Davenport after Cargill got retribution on Hartwell, interfering in the match to lead to Naomi’s victory.

Five of six spots are secured in both the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank ladder matches set for next Saturday, with the final spots to be decided on Monday’s Raw.

Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus vs. Ilja Dragunov will decide the final men’s participant in a qualifier on Monday’s Raw, while Zoey Stark vs. Ivy Nile vs. Dakota Kai will determine the final women’s qualifier.

The current lineup for WWE Money in the Bank on Saturday, July 6 in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena:

  • World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest defends against Seth Rollins — If Priest retains, Rollins can’t challenge for the title ever again as long as Priest holds it. If Rollins wins, Priest leaves The Judgment Day
  • Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn defends against Bron Breakker
  • Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton & Kevin Owens vs. The Bloodline
  • Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match: Jey Uso vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. Chad Gable vs. LA Knight vs. TBD
  • Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match: IYO SKY vs. Chelsea Green vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi vs. TBD

WWE star Tiffany Stratton signs with Paradigm Talent Agency

In addition to being one of WWE’s top young stars, Tiffany Stratton is looking to build her brand outside of the ring.

It was announced via The Hollywood Reporter today that the 25-year-old Stratton has signed with Paradigm Talent Agency for representation in all areas. Paradigm “will work to build Stratton’s business across books, graphic novels, acting, brand partnerships, speaking engagements, and more.”

“Paradigm is betting that her stock will only rise as wrestling is poised for greater exposure thanks to a $5 billion, 10-year deal with Netflix starting in January 2025,” The Hollywood Reporter wrote. “Paradigm hopes to model Stratton’s career on trajectories flown by Dwayne Johnson, John Cena and Dave Bautista, all whom originated on WWE and who became some of the most bankable names in Hollywood.”

Netflix’s deal with WWE is for Raw to air on the platform. Stratton is currently a member of the SmackDown roster.

Stratton was called up to the WWE main roster this February. In NXT, she was a one-time Women’s Champion.

Last month’s Backlash event in France saw Stratton compete for the WWE Women’s Championship. Bayley retained against Naomi and Stratton in a triple threat match. Stratton then took part in WWE’s Queen of the Ring tournament, losing to Bianca Belair in the second round.

Paradigm is one of the biggest agencies in Hollywood, trailing WME (William Morris Endeavor), CAA (Creative Artists Agency), and UTA (United Talent Agency).

Tiffany Stratton & LA Knight advance in WWE King & Queen of the Ring tournaments

Two more have advanced in the King & Queen of the Ring tournaments.

LA Knight defeated Santos Escobar on Saturday at a WWE house show in Chattanooga, Tennessee to advance to the quarterfinals of the King of the Ring tournament. On the same show, Tiffany Stratton defeated Michin to make it to the next round of the Queen of the Ring tournament. As a result, Knight will now face Tama Tonga on the next WWE SmackDown, while Stratton will face Bianca Belair.

Two more tournament matches will take place at Sunday’s house show in Macon, Georgia to determine quarterfinal matches on the Raw side. Kofi Kingston will battle Rey Mysterio with the winner facing Gunther on the next episode of Raw, while a match between Shayna Baszler and Zelina Vega will determine IYO SKY’s opponent.

The finals of both tournaments will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 25 at the Jeddah Super Dome.

Eight-woman tag match added to WWE SmackDown

An eight-woman tag match is set to take place on the final SmackDown before Backlash.

Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill will team up against Tiffany Stratton & three members of Damage CTRL on tonight’s SmackDown in Lyon, France. The announcement of the match was made during this afternoon’s Backlash kickoff fan event.

At Backlash, Bayley is defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi and Stratton in a triple threat match. That was made official after Stratton interrupted a title bout between Bayley and Naomi on SmackDown two weeks ago.

Belair & Cargill are challenging Damage CTRL’s Asuka & Kairi Sane for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at Backlash. The premium live event streams live on Peacock starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday (May 4).

WWE has also announced that Paul Heyman will be Kevin Owens & Randy Orton’s guest for their RKO Show segment on SmackDown tonight. Owens & Orton vs. Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga is happening at Backlash.

Tiffany Stratton & Ludwig Kaiser reflect on their first WWE Royal Rumble matches

WWE real-life couple Tiffany Stratton and Ludwig Kaiser both attended the premiere of Bianca Belair and Montez Ford’s Love & WWE Hulu reality TV show just a day after making their respective debuts in the women’s and men’s Royal Rumble matches.

Stratton, the former NXT Women’s Champion, has been officially called up and added to the SmackDown roster as of Friday. She entered the Rumble at no. 29 and lasted just under seven minutes, eliminating Roxanne Perez.

“It was a crazy day as you can tell by my voice, It’s gone, but I was so nervous all day. When I went out there, all the nerves went away and I just did what I knew and it was amazing. It was everything that I could ask for,” she said.

In the men’s Rumble, Kaiser entered at number 12 and made history as the first-ever German to compete in that match.

“Obviously, (it was) a great experience, especially an event like the prestigious Royal Rumble. Looking back at the history of it, how many great legends have all participated throughout history…for myself yesterday, I actually got to write some history. I was the very first German ever in the Royal Rumble which is an amazing privilege and honor to me and 2024 has really started off great for me. We’re both determined to make this our year,” he said.

Naomi, Tiffany Stratton join WWE SmackDown roster

Naomi and Tiffany Stratton have officially joined the WWE SmackDown roster.

Both Naomi and Stratton were announced as signing with the SmackDown brand in a backstage segment on Friday’s episode. WWE also confirmed on social media that Elektra Lopez has also joined the brand after her debut with Legado Del Fantasma on last week’s episode.

Stratton later made her SmackDown in-ring debut on Friday’s episode with a win over Michin.

Naomi returned to WWE at Royal Rumble after walking out of the company due to creative differences in May 2022. Stratton also appeared in the women’s Rumble match last Saturday.

Another entrant in this year’s women’s Rumble also made an appearance on SmackDown — Jade Cargill.

Cargill was shown negotiating with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis in a backstage segment on Friday’s show that also featured Raw GM Adam Pearce. Cargill made her WWE in-ring debut in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

NXT’s Bron Breakker was also featured in a different backstage segment with Aldis and Pearce, with each GM vying to sign Breakker to their brand. Pearce was successful in convincing Breakker to appear on Raw Monday to negotiate further before signing a contract that Aldis had presented him.

Fallon Henley defeats Tiffany Stratton in WWE NXT ranch hand stipulation match

Tiffany Stratton must serve as Fallon Henley’s ranch hand for a day following the results of WWE NXT New Year’s Evil.

Henley defeated Stratton on Tuesday’s New Year’s Evil special episode of NXT in a ranch hand or servant for a day stipulation match, and Stratton will now do Henley’s bidding on the ranch.

The Stratton vs. Henley feud kicked off in October at Halloween Havoc when Henley dressed as Stratton for a Halloween costume battle royal, then mocked Stratton in a backstage promo segment.

The issues between the two continued in the lead-up to NXT Deadline in November when Stratton defeated Henley in an Iron Survivor Challenge qualifying match. Henley would still end up qualifying for the Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline after winning a last chance four-way.

Henley was also victorious in a follow-up singles bout on the December 19 NXT episode, leading to a backstage promo from Stratton where she proposed the servant for a day stipulation bout.

Stratton is a former NXT Women’s Champion, while Henley once held the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles with Kiana James.
