Sareee to defend IWGP Women’s title on next Ring of Honor TV show

After making her Ring of Honor debut Thursday, Sareee will put the IWGP Women’s title on the line against Alex Windsor as part of next week’s ROH on HonorClub TV show.

Sareee teamed with Windsor in a victory over Billie Starkz and Diamante. Afterward in a backstage promo, Windsor said she wanted a shot at the title, bringing up her past challenge of former champion Syuri as a reason. She also referenced a previous Sareee comment of “Who is she?” as something that bothered her.

The two have never been on opposite sides of the ring.

Sareee will be looking for the third defense of the title she won this past June at Stardom’s The Conversion event. It will be Windsor’s second attempt to win the title.

IWGP Women’s Title match added to NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo

A new match has been added to the lineup for NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo.

Mayu Iwatani will defend her IWGP Women’s Championship against Mina Shirakawa on the February 23 show, which will be night one of the two-night event. The news was announced at Stardom’s show in Osaka on Sunday.

Shirakawa and Iwatani have met twice previously in singles competition. Iwatani defeated Shirakawa in both the 2021 and 2022 5Star Grand Prix tournaments.

Iwatani defeated Mercedes Mone for the title at All-Star Grand Queendom last April. She has since defended it successfully against Hayashashita, Stephanie Vaquer, and Syuri.

In Sunday’s subscriber exclusive by our own Dave Meltzer, it was noted that Iwatani is the only wrestler under a long-term contract with Stardom due to the upcoming movie on her life that is coming out.

Iwatani teamed with AZM, Utami Hayashishita, and Nanae Takahashi on Sunday in a win over Giulia, MIRAI, Syrui, and Suzu Suzuki.
