Roxanne Perez, Lash Legend advance in NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Roxanne Perez and Lash Legend have advanced in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Legend was the first to advance during tonight’s episode of NXT, pinning Tatum Paxley with a high kick. Later in the show, Perez defeated Kianna James after a code red out of the corner. As a result, Perez and Legend will face one another in the semifinals.

Fallon Henley and Nikita Lyons were the first two to advance in the tournament. On last week’s NXT, Henley defeated Jacobs with a knee strike, becoming the first to advance in the opening round. Lyons then became the second by defeating Ariana Grace with a split-legged legdrop. They will face one another in the next round.

The NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament is the first to feature women. The winner of the tournament will get a future NXT Women’s Championship match. Previous winners of the breakout tournament include Carmelo Hayes, who won the 2021 tournament, and Jordan Myles (ACH), who won in 2019.

More names have been announced for the NXT Women’s Breakout tournament that begins next week on NXT.

Fallon Henley, Tatum Paxley, and Roxanne Perez will be taking part in the tournament, where the winner will receive an NXT Women’s Championship match. Vignettes shown tonight had Henley and Paxley announcing their entry, while Perez told Wendy Choo that she needed to prepare for the tournament.

Henley, who has been associated with Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs, talked about her love of horses and growing up on a farm. Paxley, who in recent weeks has been vying for the attention of Ivy Nile, was shown working out the gym.

Henley, Paxley, and Perez join Arrianna Grace, Kianna James, Sloane Jacobs, and Lash Legend in the first-ever women’s breakout tournament. Roxanne Perez debuts on WWE NXT, defeats Jacy Jayne

Roxanne Perez, formerly Rok-C, made her first appearance on NXT tonight.

Perez was being interviewed when Toxic Attraction showed up and welcomed her to NXT, saying she shouldn’t set her expectations too high. Jacy Jayne didn’t like the way Perez responded and said instead of next week, her debut should be tonight. The two ended up having a match, with Perez scoring the win with a code red after a distraction from Wendy Choo on the video screen.

Prior to her interview, a vignette aired showing Perez talking about having a rough childhood but grew up playing WWE video games. The vignette originally said she would be debuting on next week’s show prior to the confrontation between Perez and Toxic Attraction.

WWE confirmed Perez’s signing in March. She originally made her debut on last week’s edition of NXT Level Up, defeating Sloane Jacobs.

Perez spent much of 2021 working for Ring of Honor, winning their Women’s World Championship in a tournament final. She lost the title earlier this year in Impact Wrestling to Deonna Purrazzo in a match that was also for the AAA Reina de Reinas title.

NXT Level Up results: Roxanne Perez debuts

Roxanne Perez defeated Sloane Jacobs

This is the NXT debut of Perez, formerly known as Rok-C in Ring of Honor.

This match was quite enjoyable, considering its limitations. Perez got to shine in her short offensive sequences.

Jacobs tried using her strength to gain the lead early on, but Perez nimbly avoided her early attempts at offense. Eventually, Jacobs dropped Perez onto the top rope after grabbing a handful of hair. After finding the lead, Jacobs used a straightjacket choke to keep Perez grounded.

Once standing, Perez landed a quick elbow and kick to create some separation. She followed this with an air scissors drop à la Jumbo Tsuruta for a near fall. After landing a standing corkscrew and code red powerbomb, Perez secured the pinfall victory.

Damon Kemp defeated Troy Donovan

This match was also impressive, given its restrictions.

Kemp wrestled Donovan to the mat, secured control, and landed a gut wrench suplex as soon as the match began. He continued to make advances until a distraction from Channing Lauren allowed Donovan to steal control.

Donovan landed a massive clothesline before trying to take the match to the mat. Kemp eventually fought to a standing position, landing a shoulder tackle and an impressive pair of suplexes for a near fall.

Donovan escaped a fireman’s carry and immediately landed a falcon arrow. After Kemp kicked out, he climbed to the top but overshot his dive by about ten feet. Kemp then landed a neckbreaker slam before pinning Donovan.

Tatum Paxley defeated Kiana James

This was not good.

The match opened with a grappling stalemate. As the competitors were staring each other down, Ivy Nile walked out, making her presence known. James dropped Paxley onto the second rope before reigning in some knees. James then secured control of the midsection in a bizarre control segment.

Paxley landed a quick elbow, clothesline, and dropkick to take control of the match. Paxley landed a suplex and standing twisting senton to secure the pin.

The commentary team explained Paxley wants to be in Diamond Mine really bad.

Rok-C debut announced for WWE NXT Level Up

The former Rok-C is set to make her WWE debut on this week’s episode of NXT Level Up.

WWE has announced that Rok-C, who has been given the new in-ring name Roxanne Perez, will face Sloane Jacobs on NXT Level Up this Friday. The episode was taped before NXT earlier this week.

It was confirmed last month that the 20-year-old Rok-C (real name Carla Gonzalez) has signed with WWE. She’s a former ROH Women’s World Champion.

Rok-C was trained by Booker T and is also a former Diamonds Division Champion for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion.

Jacobs (real name Amelia Herr) was part of the same class of WWE Performance Center recruits as Rok-C. Before signing with WWE, Jacobs wrestled on the indies as The Notorious Mimi. She made her NXT debut in a loss to Nikkita Lyons two weeks ago.

WWE.com wrote about Jacobs when she signed:

Amelia Herr is an 18-year-old Criminal Justice major out of West Chester, Pa. With two years of Taekwondo training under her belt, she also competed on the independents as The Notorious Mimi.

NXT Level Up airs on Peacock/WWE Network at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Fridays. Here’s the full lineup for this week’s episode:

  • Kiana James vs. Tatum Paxley
  • Roxanne Perez vs. Sloane Jacobs
  • Damon Kemp vs. Troy Donovan
