WWE NXT live results: Randy Orton vs. Je’Von Evans

WWE NXT heads to Missouri tonight for its second episode live on The CW Network.

After winning the title on last week’s CW premiere, new NXT Champion Trick Williams will appear tonight. We’ll also hear from NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, after the returning Cora Jade helped her retain against Giulia last week.

One of WWE’s biggest stars will be in the building tonight as Randy Orton takes on rising NXT prospect Je’Von Evans.

Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Grayson Waller, and Austin Theory are set to appear as well. Belair & Cargill are teaming with Kelani Jordan to take on Fatal Influence. Waller & Theory have a title match against NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom.

Another title match will see NXT North American Champion Oba Femi put his gold on the line against Tony D’Angelo. Plus, there will be a special performance by Missouri native Sexyy Red.

NXT is on the air from The Factory at The District in Chesterfield, Missouri. Opening the show is the new NXT Champion.

Trick Williams enters for a monologue. Williams gave himself a new nickname, “Tricky Two Times”. Say it two times because he is a two-time champion. Williams is soon interrupted by Wes Lee, who is in the crowd to cut a promo on Williams.

Lee says Trick is not “it”, and Lee vows to take the title from Williams. Interrupting Lee is the sudden entrance of Jey Uso. Big pop from the live crowd for Uso, as he looks like a superstar. He gets the microphone to saying he is in your city. Trick thanks him for being there. The crowd yeets with Uso, and they “yeet” along with Williams. Dueling chants from the crowd: “Whoop that trick…Yeet!”

They go from the previous segment right into introductions for the first match, which is a six-woman tag. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions team with the NXT Women’s North American Champion for the opening match.

Kelani Jordan, Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair defeated Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jaxmyn Nyx)

Jordan pinned Nyz to win the match. The story going into this trios match is Fatal Influence are upset over NIL athletes in NXT, and here they face wrestlers that were all athletes in prior sports.

Henley and Jordan started the match against each other. The heel trio makes quick tags, and Jordan is seemingly soon in trouble. She counters and fires up. Cargill & Belair come in to help clean house, and the babyface trio looks strong.

Henley hanging in the ring with a main roster talent like Belair just reinforces the belief she is ready for a call up. Meanwhile, she and the other heels do a distraction spot. Low bridge on Jordan, and she takes a bump on the floor as the show cuts to its first commercial break.

Hot tag when the show returns from the break, and Bianca Belair runs wild. She gets to shine before tagging out. Belair & Cargill with tandem offense on Nyz, and Jordan follows up with a split-legged moonsault. Jordan then covers Nyz for a pinfall.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom interact with Randy Orton in a locker room skit. Orton asks them just how fast is Je’Von Evans, and Axiom remarks he might be the fastest in NXT. Frazier takes exception to that, and the champs begin to bicker. Frazier apologies for losing his temper, but Orton says sometime you need find that place. Orton wishes luck to the champs.

Sarah Schreiber is interviewing Giulia backstage when an “old friend” enters the room off camera. That ends the interview, as the show cuts to commercials. This would lead to the live debut of Stephanie Vaquer in the next segment in an angle that would seem to set up a tag program.

NXT Champion Roxanne Perez enters the ring for a monologue promo. She boasts and brags about retaining her title against Giulia. Perez then introduces her old friend, Cora Jade. Last week, Jade returned to NXT and helped Perez retain the title.

Jade was wearing her knee brace, so I figured the segment would turn physical, but not before Jade cuts a promo. Jade claims that not even Perez knew that Jade would be interfering in the match last Tuesday. Jade is back, and the Jade you used to know was a girl trying to make it in NXT, but now she is the woman that will make NXT.

Jade does says that Perez deserves to be champion. Jade also puts over Perez’s heel persona, and Jade says that is why they should be friends again. That is bad for the rest of the roster. Perez said she should have listened to Jade a while ago, but Perez finally learned her lesson.

Interrupting Perez and Jade is the entrance of Giulia. She stops in the aisle to wait for back up, and it comes in the form of her “old friend” from earlier. Stephanie Vaquer enters to stand alongside Giulia. They rush into the ring, and they brawl with Jade and Perez. The babyface duo clear the ring, and the heels flee the ring. This would seemingly set up a tag match, although a backstage skit that followed could set up a singles match for Vaquer’s in-ring debut in NXT.

Wren Sinclair is with the No Quarter Catch Crew talking about taking on Giulia. Charlie Dempsey is impressed by Sinclair, as she wants to challenge Vaquer to a match. The skit continues with Dempsey and crew meeting up with Lexis King, who wanted some idea for a gimmick match with Oro Mensah. Dempsey suggested some ideas with rounds. King and Dempsey talk it over.

Tony D’ Angelo defeated NXT North American Champion Oba Femi to win the title

D’Angelo pinned Femi to win the championship after countering a powerbomb with a sunset flip. D’Angelo fought from underneath, and he ultimately prevails. The title change was quite a surprise for me, and the live crowd also popped accordingly. The match was also pretty good.

Femi looks strong at the outset, while “The Don” looks to outsmart the champ. Turns out Femi outsmarts him, as Femi chokeslams D’Angelo on the edge of the ring apron just before a commercial break. D’Angelo is being worked over when he show returns from the break.

A crowbar is slid into the ring for D’Angelo to use, but he tosses it out of the ring instead. Close near fall for “The Done”, after D’Angelo powerbombs Femi through the announce desk. Femi first teases putting D’Angelo through the desk, but “The Don” counters him. That foreshadows the finish.

For the finish, Femi goes for a powerbomb, but D’Angelo counters with a sunset flip and a roll up. D’Angelo holds Femi down for a three count, and D’Angelo wins the title. And new…

Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson run into Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair, where the women’s tag champs are challenged to a title match. Cargill accepts on behalf of her and Belair, saying they do not back down from a challenge. However, the champs want the match on Smackdown instead of NXT. The match is agreed to and set up for Friday night.

A skit sets up Lola Vice against Nikkita Lyons in a singles match for next week. Vice is in NXT GM Ava’s office, and Vice wants a match with Jaida Parker. Instead, in walks Lyons. She bickers with Vice, setting up a match between the two.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

Frazier pinned Thoery to win the match and retain the tag titles. This was a really good match.

The match goes through a commercial break. Despite flying high early on, the babyface champs are in peril as the show heads into the break. Axiom is trying to rally when the show returns from the break, but a hot tag is broken up. A-Town Down Under continue to isolate Axiom. He eventually shoves Theory off the ropes, and Axiom lands with a splash. Hot tag to Frazier, and he runs wild with high spots galore. That guy is so dang good.

Thoery cuts off Axiom, and he gets a few near falls. Axiom tags back in, and the champs are soon in control with tandem offense. The match really heats up from here, and the pace soon quickens. There is a cool spot with double submission being broken up. Axiom caught Waller in a rear naked choke, and Frazier then catches with a guillotine choke on Theory. He counters Frazier, and Theory suplexes Frazier on Axiom to break up the other submission.

The finish was the champs tandem finisher. Spanish Fly by Axiom, followed by a Phoenix Splash from Frazier, and Frazier covers Theory for a pinfall. The champs retain their titles.

A video package recaps the story with Ridge Holland against Chase U. Holland is then interviewed backstage, where he is ambushed by Riley Osborne. They have a pull-apart brawl. A singles match between the two is clearly in the works.

Next up is a musical performance in the middle of a wrestling show, which rarely works well outside of a WrestleMania. Even then, an argument can be made it is still out of place. This was no exception. Sexxy Red is performing a rap song in the ring when she is (thankfully) cut short.

Ethan Page interrupts the Sexxy Red concert, and he gets in the ring to cut a promo. Red is looking on as Page rants and raves. Page says this is his ring, and he is not leaving until he gets a title rematch with Williams.

The entrance of Je’Von Evans interrupts Page. Evans confronts Page in the ring. Page tries to sucker punch Evans, but Evans blocks it. Evans punches Page several times, and Page is clotheslined out of the ring. Evans dances in the ring with Red as the show goes into a commercial break.

After the break, a video package hypes the arrival of DELTA (although she is not named in the vignette). The vignette portrays her as a kaiju monster wreaking havoc on a city.

In other news, “Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal” returns next week. However, it is being rebranded as “The Halloween Havoc Wheel.” For a WCW marl like me,

Randy Orton defeated Je’Von Evans

Ortin pinned Evans after the RKO. This was good, and it was a much different kind of match than Evans usually has on NXT. The pacing was more deliberate and not so frantic. When Evans would explode into a flurry of offense, it stood out more against a ring general like Orton.

Evans went for a dive, but Orton blocks it. Orton then drops Evans on the announce desk. Orton drops Evans several more times on the desk, but it does not implode. Orton keeps trying, and keeps dropping Evans on the desk.

Evans flew into a comeback, but Orton cuts him off. Orton delivers a draping DDT, and Orton teases the RKO. Evans counters with superkick, and he springboard into a flying cutter for a close near fall. Evans goes for another flying cutter, but Orton blocks the second attempt. RKO by Orton, and he covers Evans for a pinfall. Orton helps Evans to his feet after the match, and Orton raises Evans’ hand.

Wes Lee and Ethan Page are in Ava’s office, where she announces a number one contender’s match between Lee and Page. Ava was also impressed with Evans in the main event, and she adds Evans to make the match a triple threat number one contender’s match. That is set up for next Tuesday on NXT.

Overall, this was a good show. It was very wrestling heavy, with only a few silly skits. The title change was a surprise, and the matches all delivered.

WWE NXT CW premiere live results: Title matches, CM Punk, more

With a loaded lineup, WWE NXT premieres on The CW Network with tonight’s episode from Chicago.

Hometown hero CM Punk will be in the building to serve as the special guest referee for the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams, who is looking to regain the title from Page and become a two-time champion.

To kick off NXT’s new era, the NXT Women’s Championship will be on the line in tonight’s opening match. Roxanne Perez is defending her title against Giulia — and Stephanie Vaquer has warned that she’ll be coming after whoever leaves tonight’s show as champion.

The Miz is set to make an appearance when he hosts a Miz TV segment with NXT North American Champion Oba Femi and Tony D’Angelo tonight. Former best friends Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz are facing off in a street fight. Plus, Jaida Parker & Lola Vice will team up against two members of Fatal Influence.

NXT is live from Chicago, and Shawn Michaels opens the show. With the hat he was wearing, he kind of looked like Skinner in a suit.

Shawn plays to the crowd and speaks into the house microphone. HBK goes on to unveil new NXT championship belts for the title matches tonight.

HBK says he has one question for us. Before he can say the line, the voice of Triple H interjects, “Are you ready?” Triple H gets into the ring and embraces HBK. They together ask, “Are you ready?!” Huge pop from the crowd, and we are ready for our first match.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Giulia to retain her title

Perez retains via pinfall after outside interference by the returning Cora Jade. Aside from losing the match, this was the best presentation of Giulia, and her character, since she debuted in NXT. Not sure about Giulia losing her first match, but that is very WWE.

They quickly exchange near falls early on. They wrestle to a stalemate, and they go nose-to-nose as the show cuts to a commercial break. After the show returns from the break, the match heats up even more.

The crowd really comes alive after a series of headbutts from Giulia. The action intensifies, and the crowd explodes into “N-X-T” chants when Perez sails through the ropes with a tope suicida. Giulia answers back with a super Northern Lights suplex and a bridge. Chain wrestling, and both counter their way into a crossface. They keep trading near falls.

Pop Rocks by Perez, but Giulia rolls outside the ring to avoid a pin. On the floor, Guilia gives Perez a Northern Lights. They tease a double count-out, and they both roll back just in time to break the count.

Perez gets the title belt, which is a red herring. That was to distract the referee. Suddenly, a hooded assailant attacks Giulia at ringside. The unknown attacker gives Giulia an Evenflow DDT on the floor. Giulia is rolled back into the ring, where Perez executes another Pop Rocks. Perez then covers Giulia for a pinfall. The attacker then reveals herself to be Cora Jade.

The arrival to the building from earlier today of CM Punk and Trick Williams is shown just before the show cuts to a commercial break.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier and Axiom are playing a WWE video game, and Frazier loses his temper. Axiom tries to tell him to keep his temper in check, both in the game and real life. This was both good and silly, especially since Axiom is wearing his mask while at home on a couch playing video games.

CM Punk talks with NXT GM Ava backstage about the title match later on, and Punk reassures her about the NXT title match having a definitive winner tonight. In walks Lexis King to get some advice from Punk.

A video package recaps the history between Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz, ahead of their street fight. Live in the arena, Lee makes his entrance pushing a shopping cart full of weapons as the show goes into a commercial break.

Jaida Parker and Lola Vice are warming up for their tag match. As they begin to bicker, in walks NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan trying to convince them they need each other. Parker and Vice storm off still at odds, and Jordan remarks she has another plan.

Wes Lee defeated Zachary Wentz in a street fight

Lee pinned Wentz in a brutal match. Lee attacks Wentz in the aisle before the bell, and the fight is on. They brawl at ringside, and weapons soon come into play. Wentz smashes Lee into the ring steps with a shopping cart. Chairs, kendo sticks, and a piece of plywood were shattered everywhere. Just before the show cuts to another commercial break, they both take a plunge through a plywood bridge set up at ringside.

Should be noted the days of split-screen commercial breaks on NXT are seemingly done. Fine by me. I like my commercial breaks the old fashioned way. Easier to ignore that way.

After the show returns from the break, Wentz goes coast-to-coast with a Van Terminator that smashes a trash can on Lee. Moments later, Lee takes a face-first bump on a chair. Wentz then hits Lee with repeated shots from the kendo stick. Trash can on the head of Lee, and he is smacked with the stick. Wentz delivers a senton bomb on the Lee with the can still trapped on Lee.

This was getting very brutal. It would quickly get worse when Wentz goes for a springboard. Lee shoves him off the top rope. Wentz was likely supposed to land on a table set up in the aisle. Wentz overshoots the table, and he takes a nasty bump on the floor.

More brutality and near falls. Lee wraps a chain around his hand, and Lee pummels Wentz with the chain. Wentz is seated in a chair as Lee gets on the middle rope. Lee wraps the chain around his knee, and Lee jumps off the rope on a seated Wentz. The chair beneath him craters from the meteora, and Lee pins Wentz.

MizTV with guests NXT North American Champion Oba Femi and Tony D’Angelo

Miz is loudly booed. Femi enters looking even more like a superstar than usual. The live arena setting is so much better than the Performance Center. Out comes Tony D’Angelo, and he is flanked by The D’Angelo Family.

“The Don” is first to answer a question, and he gets the “what” treatment. On the other hand, the crowd chants along with Femi.

The crowd turns when D’Angelo says he grew up 20 minutes from the building on the streets of Chicago. The crowd chants for D’Angelo, while Femi says D’Angelo will never be North American Champion. Femi insists D’Angelo cannot beat him.

They get up from their chairs and they face off. D’Angelo says Femi is just a man, and Femi replies he is “inevitable” and D’Angelo is a broken man. Miz concludes the face-off by plugging their title match next week.

Cora Jade and NXT Women’s Champion have a confrontation backstage, where they tease joining forces again.

Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne & Fallon Henley with Jazmyn Nyz) defeated Lola Vice & Jaida Parker

Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan is at ringside for guest commentary alongside Vic Joseph and Booker T. This leads to them bickering about NIL athletes. Meanwhile, a tag match is going on.

The match goes through a commercial break. Parker & Vice argue just before the show cuts to commercials, which allows Henley to ambush Parker. When the show returns from the break, Vice is trapped in a body scissors. Clips from during the break show Vice getting rammed into a ring post.

The heels work over Vice. Double clothesline and a double down. Vice about to make the hot tag when Nyz distracts Parker. Henley sends Vice colliding into Parker. That upsets Parker, and she walks out on the match.

Vice is left alone with Fatal Influence, and Vice fires up. She is making her own comeback when Vice is cut off by a roaring elbow by Jayne. Her and Henley deliver stereo knee strikes on Vice, and Henley covers Vice for a three count.

After the match, Fatal Influence remain in the ring for a promo. Their win was a statement made, and Henley says they are setting their sights on the North American title. They call out Jordan, but Jordan says she did not come alone. Time for a surprise appearance.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair & Jade Cargil get a full entrance, and they get in the ring to confront Fatal Influence. Jordan teams up with Belair & Cargill to clean house on Fatal Influence. The babyface trio stand tall.

An advertiser-sponsored video package hypes Randy Orton against Je’Von Evans for next Tuesday on NXT.

Another video package recaps the story leading to tonight’s main event.

CM Punk gets a full entrance and a big pop, as he enters for his role in the main event. He is wearing sleeveless referee shirt, along with a beaming smile.

A vignette teases the debut of a new women’s wrestler. This could be DELTA, but no name is given.

Trick Williams defeated NXT Champion Ethan Page to win the title

Williams pinned Page after a Trick Shot. They had a good match. Nothing blow away, but Trick is still over. Likewise, Punk is quite over as well if you can believe that.

The right guy won here.

Page tries to cheat early on by putting his feet on a rope, but Punk catches him in the act. Trick was looking strong, until he crashes through a gimmicked section of the barricade. The show cuts to a commercial break with Trick in peril.

Trick makes a comeback after the show returns from the commercial break, and Trick is a house of fire. The crowd comes alive as Trick runs wild. Page counters Trick at ringside, leading to Page giving Trick a Razor’s Edge on the announce desk. The desk collapses with Trick in a heap. Punk goes to check on Trick, and Punk basically refuses to administer a count-out. He had promised a definitive winner.

Several near falls for Trick down the stretch. Trick Shot misses, and Page gets a near fall of his own. Page executes a GTS right in front of Punk. Page glares a Punk while doing the move. However, Trick kicks out at two. Page for another Razor’s Edge, but Trick slips out. Trick falls into the arms of Punk, who gingerly places Trick in a corner. Page misses a charge, and he is hit with a Trick Shot. Trick then covers Page for the deciding pinfall.

A case can be made for Punk making a fast count. That, along with the other interactions in the match with Punk, would give Page an out to save face. Furthermore, a post-match scuffle could easily set up a match between Punk and Page. However, Punk is currently wrapped up in a blood feud with Drew McIntyre. They even have a big cage match this weekend if you are unaware.

Trick celebrates by climbing on the ropes and posing with the title, as confetti falls from the rafters. Meanwhile, Punk and Page get into a shoving match. Punk then picks up Page to deliver a GTS. Page is out cold as the show goes off the air with Trick wondering what just happened with Punk and Page. They quickly rushed off the air. No more overrun with them being on network television.

Overall, this was a good debut on CW. The live arena setting was much better than their usual sound stage. Hopefully, the television revenue can offset production costs enough to take the show on the road more often.

WWE NXT live results: Final episode on USA Network

Before moving to The CW, WWE NXT has one last episode on USA Network.

NXT closes out its USA Network run tonight with an episode building up next week’s premiere. Roxanne Perez vs. Giulia for the NXT Women’s Championship, Ethan Page vs. Trick Williams for the NXT Championship, and Zachary Wentz vs. Wes Lee in a street fight are scheduled to take place next Tuesday. Tonight, there will be a special press conference involving those six wrestlers.

In two weeks, Grayson Waller & Austin Theory will challenge Nathan Frazer & Axiom for the NXT Tag Team titles. Waller & Theory will be on NXT tonight for a Grayson Waller Effect segment with Frazer & Axiom as their guests.

Gold is on the line in tonight’s opening match as Kelani Jordan defends her NXT Women’s North American Championship against Wren Sinclair.

Rosemary & Wendy Choo vs. Karmen Petrovic & Brinley Reece, Riley Osborne vs. Ridge Holland, and Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger have also been announced.

NXT is recorded in front of a live studio audience at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. While practically a lame duck episode before the move to CW, it feels more like a go-home show. The episode opens with a title match.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan defeated Wren Sinclair (with Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights & Myles Borne)

Jordan pinned Sinclair after a split-legged moonsault. This was a fun opener.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Before the break, Sinclair was working over Jordan. The champ makes a comeback, and Jordan wipes out Sinclair on a tornillo splash just before the show cuts to commercials. They wrestle through the break, and Sinclair is in control much of the way. She has Jordan in a headscissors as the show returns from the commercial break.

Jordan begins another comeback, while also selling her ribs. Jordan lands on her feet when missing a splash, and Sinclair targets the ribs. Sinclair is seemingly on a roll with suplexes, until she is caught by an O’Connor roll. Sinclair kicks out, which sends Jordan sailing outside the ring. Jordan lands on the floor in front of the No Quarter Catch Crew. They taunt Jordan at ringside, and Sinclair goes for a high cross off the top. Jordan moves, and Sinclair wipes out Borne and Heights instead. Jordan rolls Sinclair back into the ring, and Jordan lands a kick. After a split-legged moonsault, Jordan covers Sinclair for a pinfall. Jordan retains.

A video package plugs to the move to CW. Video clips show Trick Williams and Shawn Michaels doing local and national media to plug the debut on CW.

NXT Champion Ethan Page is at a worked press conference. He answers a few questions, but Page cuts his time short. Page says he is going to talk with CM Punk. After a commercial break, Punk makes an appearance on the show.

Punk is in a locker room talking with Je’Von Evans. In walks Trick Williams, and Evans excuses himself to leave. Williams talks with Punk, and they compliment each other. Punk tells Trick he knows Page will try to cheat, and Punk is there to keep both Page and Williams from cheating in their title match. Punk says he is there to see who is the best man, and Punk vows to not play favorites.

The Grayson Waller Effect with the NXT Tag Team Champions

Grayson Waller & Austin Theory are in the ring surrounded by props for The Grayson Waller Show. Waller insults the crowd before introducing the tag champs. Waller dubs them “Fraxiom” during his introduction. The champions sit down with Theory & Waller for a talking segment.

Waller & Theory look to tease dissension between Frazier & Axiom. The champs turn the tables and try causing dissension between their challengers. Frazier asks why Austin Theory’s name is nowhere in the title of “The Grayson Waller Effect.” Theory mulls it over a moment, and Theory takes the bait. Theory begins to question it, and Waller changes the subject with a cheap shot on Frazier. Axiom comes to his partner’s defense, and Theory waylays him. A-Town Down Under beat down the champions, and the challengers pose with the title belts while standing over the champions.

Lexis King and Oro Mensah were in a blood feud, but King comes to Mensah to talk instead of fighting or blindsiding each other. King tries relating to Mensah by empathizing over their late fathers. They shake hands, with King saying may the best man win tonight. So much for the blood feud.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis is in the women’s locker with a rose. He tries to hit on some of the women wrestlers, but they all turn him down.

Hank Walker & Tank Ledger defeated Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

Ledger pinned Gallows to win the match in an upset for the upstart team. Hank & Tank go over clean, and this win should help them get over.

The Good Brothers have a competitive match, before they put over the up-and-comers. Just before they go home, Hank takes a superplex from Anderson. Gallows follows up by giving Tank a spinebuster on top of Tank. A moment later, Good Brothers go for a tandem move, but Tank pulls Anderson out of the ring. Hank counters Gallows, and Hanks lifts him into a powerslam. Tank spears Gallows as Hank delivers the power slam, and Tank covers Gallows for a three count. Hank & Tank score an upset.

Oro Mensah (with Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) defeated Lexis King

They match itself was decent enough, but the storytelling going into this was odd. A segment earlier in the show cooled off the heat between these two. King has apparently turned over a new leaf, after they were in a blood feud in recent weeks. King shoved Mensah out of the ring at one point, but King sold like he was remorseful for a moment. Later in the match, something similar would cost King. He went to put his feet on the ropes for illegal leverage. King stopped himself, and King insists he will not win that way. Mensah then catches King in a roll-up, and Mensah puts his feet on the ropes for leverage. Mensah scores a pinfall to win the match.

Ridge Holland defeated Riley Osborne (with Thea Hail)

Osborne ambushes Holland during his entrance. Osborne takes the fight to Holland, and they get into the ring to start the match. Holland still has his robe on as the bell rings to start the match.

Osborne has some cool moves, but he plays the underdog here. They set up a stunt where Osborne sends Holland crashing through the barricade around ringside. Osborne goes to follow up with a high risk move off the top, and Holland gets his knees up. Osborne then lands on his feet to counter the counter. They run through a few more spots before Holland catches Osborne with an implant DDT. Holland then covers Osborne for a pinfall.

Hollands jumps Osborne after the match, and Holland teases hitting Osborne with a section of the barricade. Thea Hail gets involved by yelling at Holland. That distracts Holland while Osborne goes to spring off the ring steps with Air Sabu. Security and referees pour out to separate Osborne and Holland. The pull-apart ends a chaotic scene.

In a social media post, Miz announces Tony D’Angelo and NXT North American Champion Oba Femi are his guest next week for MizTV. This is ahead of their title match in two weeks. A video package hyped the title match between Femi and D’Angelo, and Femi is seen at a press conference. He answers a few question before leaving, and another press conference is cut short.

Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz are supposed to have a talking segment after a commercial break, but they get into a fight before the show comes back from commercial. They were waiting for the segment to start, where each is in a separate room for an interview segment on the face, like the old “Face-to-Face” segments on Superstars back in the day.

Lee and Wentz cut promos and curse each other. That leads to Lee insulting Wentz’s family, and an enraged Wentz leaves the interview to go find Lee. They meet in a backstage era, and they proceed to have a pull-apart brawl.

Vic Joseph and Booker T as the commentary team take time to thank USA Network for the last several years of NXT. The announcers throw to a video package that highlights the years of NXT on USA with video clips.

Lola Vice and Jaida Parker are both called to NXT GM Ava’s office. Vice and Parker bicker, before Ava announces she booked them as a team in a match against Fatal Influence.

Wendy Choo & Rosemary defeated Karmen Petrovic & Brinley Reece

Heat on Reece, which would seemingly build to a hot tag. However, out comes Ashante “Thee” Adonis with a rose. Petrovic leaves her corner as Reece is crawling for the tag, and Petrovic confronts Adonis. Reece cannot tag out, and she falls victim to Rosemary’s finishing move. Rosemary then covers Reece for a pinfall.

NXT Champion Ethan Page confronts CM Punk in a backstage skit. Punk insists he will not let either Page or his challenger (Trick Williams) cheat in their title match. Punk basically says he will call in right down the middle.

The Fatal Influence trio takes part in the worked press conference. They will have Freebirds’ rules for the upcoming match next Tuesday. Parker and Vice barge in looking to fight, but they are held back by security.

Grayson Waller & Austin Theory defeated Je’Von Evans & Cedric Alexander

Thoery pinned Evans to win the match. They had a good match, and the tag champs (Axiom & Frazier) get involved during the match. Evans drops another fall, despite him supposedly getting a push.

Evans is cut off from his corner, and he is worked over by A-Town Down Under. Alexander is sent crashing into the barricade, so he is unable to help Evans. Alexander is down on the floor selling as Evans is being worked over in the ring. Double-team and tandem moves from A-Town Down Under.

Evans makes a comeback as he fights back. Alexander rejoins the fighting, leading to a hot tag. But it was more like a mild tag, as Alexander is soon cut off. The hot tag would come later. Alexander counters. leading Evans & Alexander each doing a dive to the outside. From there, the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

When the show returns from commercials, Alexander is being worked over by the heel team. Hot tag and Evans is a house of fire. Evans runs wild, and he does dive outside the ring. A springboard by Evans sets up a near fall.

As the fighting spills outside the ring, Waller sends Alexander crashing into the ring steps. NXT Tag Team Champions — Nathan Frazier & Axiom — suddenly storm their way to ringside. Frazier goes to confront Waller, and Axiom tries to stop his partner. Waller then shoves Axiom into Frazier, and they both take a bump on the floor.

Back in the ring, Waller goes for a signature move. Evans counters and prepares to launch himself off the top rope. Frazier gets involved again, much to the chagrin of Axiom. Frazier jumps on the apron, and Axiom pulls him off. In doing so, Frazier shakes the top rope. That causes Evans to lose his balance. Waller then plants Evans with a finisher. Theory tags in, and he does his own finisher on Evans. Theory the covers Evans for a pinfall. Sure, the challengers needed to look strong ahead of their title match, but did Evans have to lose yet another fall. Oh, and this is the last NXT match on USA, but the show is no over yet.

Trick Williams does the worked press conference gimmick. He answers a few questions. The “final portion of the press conference” is in the ring for a face-to-face meeting between NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and her challenger, Giulia. They are seen heading to the ring before the last commercial break on the show.

Perez and Giulia are in the ring at separate tables. Giulia is joined by Funaki, who translates for Giulia. Byron Saxton host this worked press conference, and Saxton takes questions about the title match. Giulia answers in Japanese. Not only does Funaki translate, there are also subtitles on the screen. Then, it was Perez’s turn to answer a question.

Perez cuts a heckuva promo on Giulia, and Giulia responds in both English and Japanese. Suddenly, Stephanie Vaquer appears “via satellite” to interrupt the press conference. The live studio audience pops as Vaquer basically says he facing the winner of Perez vs. Giulia. That is the final cliffhanger on the last episode of NXT on USA Network, at least until the next television deal. See you all next week on CW.

WWE NXT live results: CM Punk comes to NXT

With the show’s CW premiere now two weeks away, CM Punk comes to WWE NXT tonight.

Punk is set to appear in Chicago when NXT debuts on The CW on October 1. Tonight, he will also be appearing on the show for what WWE has hyped as a “special announcement.”

NXT’s CW premiere episode is scheduled to include an NXT Championship match with Ethan Page defending against Trick Williams. The two will have a contract signing tonight to make that official.

Main roster star Lyra Valkyria is back in NXT tonight, providing backup for Tatum Paxley in a tag team match against Wendy Choo & TNA star Rosemary. Another tag match will see Cedric Alexander & Je’Von Evans team up against Myles Borne & Tavion Heights of No Quarter Catch Crew.

Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne has also been announced, along with Brooks Jensen vs. Dion Lennox.

Plus, WWE will follow up on Giulia’s successful in-ring debut from last week ahead of her challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship on the CW premiere.

NXT is recorded before a live studio audience in a sound stage at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.

The show opens with NXT General Manager Ava standing at a table set up in the ring. She mentions two important dates for NXT in the coming weeks, which are the shows on the road for the first two weeks on CW.

Ava announces hip-hop artist Sexyy Red returns to NXT in St. Louis. That is not her only surprise announcement for the CW debut. Randy Orton is set to wrestle in NXT for the first time on the show in St. Louis on October 8.

Besides plugs for the upcoming shows on CW, Ava is in the ring for a contract signing. Trick Williams challenges Ethan Page for the NXT Championship on Oct. 1 in Chicago, and tonight they sign the contract.

Trick Williams enters the ring for the contract signing, but first he cuts a promo. He is hurting and still in pain from his match last week, “but Pete Dunne is still a “Butch.” Williams was the “last man standing” in their match, and on October 1st, NXT fans will be chanting “whoop that trick” in Chicago.

NXT Champion Ethan Page interrupts the chants, and he mocks the crowds. Page mimics Trick dancing, and the crowd chants about the way Page is dressed. Page keeps cutting a promo as he enters the ring and takes a seat at the table along with Trick.

Williams accuses Page of “stealing” the championship. That angers Page so much he takes off his sports coat as he rises to his feet. Page gets in Trick’s face and cuts a heckuva promo where he vows to defeat Trick and retain the NXT Championship. Then, Page does the silly “N-X-Me” catchphrase.

Trick responds with a promo of his own, where he says the “N-X-Me” era is over. As Trick is responding, Page attacks him. Page then sends Trick crashing through a table with a Razor’s Edge. Page screams that Trick will not even make it to Chicago.

Neither sign the contract, which is noted by Vic Joseph on commentary. That will likely play into the story later on, or at least it should.

Skit from last week shows Tony D’Angelo getting into an argument with Hammerstone. This sets up a match between the two for this week.

In a backstage skit, Je’Von Evans “shoots his shot” and asks Ava for a match on the CW debut episode. Ava will think about it.

Tatum Paxley & Lyra Valkyria defeated Wendy Choo & Rosemary

Paxley pinned Rosemary to win the match. I guess this is NXT’s spooky division. Maybe they get their own spooky championship. Heaven knows another title is just what we need.

Valkyria & Paxley worked well together, as they are now pals. If you ignore much of their back story, this makes all the sense in the world. They were in control as the match cuts to a commercial break, but Choo & Rosemary regained the advantage when the show returns from the break. Hot tag to Valkyria, and she runs wild.

Paxley takes a super belly-to-belly off the ropes from Choo, and Paxley is then speared by Rosemary. She goes to cover Paxley for a pinning attempt, but Paxley gets a foot on the rope. Valkyria pulls Choo out of the ring to break up a double team attempt from the spooky heels. Choo eats a spin kick from Valkyria. Paxley then executes her finisher on Rosemary in the ring. Tag to Valkyria, who jumps off the top rope with a guillotine legdrop on Rosemary. Paxley then covers Rosemary for a pinfall.

In a backstage interview with Sarah Schreiber, both Trick Williams and Ava say the contract for the title match must be signed tonight.

In a skit at the dojo of the No Quarter Catch Crew, Charlie Dempsey tells Wren Sinclair she needs to prove herself like everyone else in the crew.

Hammerstone defeated Tony D’Angelo via count-out

After dropping a fall in match last week, Hammerstone gets a win on NXT television this week, albeit by count-out. This all plays off “The Don” hiring Hammerstone for a bounty, but Hammerstone lost.

Hammerstone makes a comeback in the match, and D’Angelo powders. The Family pleads with “The Don” to get back in the ring, but D’Angelo instead walks out on the match. He is counted out by the referee, awarding the match to Hammerstone. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is seen watching on a monitor, and Femi smirks as he says that D’Angelo is broken.

Zachary Wentz jumps over the barricade and he gets into the ring with a microphone. Wentz has footage shown of Wes Lee attacking and injuring Trey Miguel in a parking lot ambush. Wentz then cuts an impassioned promo on Lee ahead of their street fight in Chicago.

Pro basketball player Tyrese Haliburton is backstage in Ava’s office. Halliburton is confident he will get the contract signed for the title match. Stevie Turner is not sure he can, but Robert Stone takes up for Halliburton and puts him over. Halliburton then big leagues Stone, making Stone look like a geek. No one got over in this segment.

In a backstage interview, Fatal Influence cut promos on Lola Vice and Jaida Parker. Meanwhile, Parker and Vice exchange unpleasant words about each other in the locker room.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Ashante “Thee” Adonis

They have a father short match, given how well both can go. Adonis takes most of the offense, and goes on to drop the fall. Adonis does a tornillo splash off the top turnbuckle to the floor. Adonis goes to follow with a high cross in the ring, but no one was home. Thorpe then delivers an implant DDT, and Thorpe covers Adonis for a three count. I am hopeful they are now going to push Thorpe, but they have disappointed me with that several times in the recent past.

CM Punk is seen walking into the building. He is up “next” on NXT at the top of the hour.

What is actually up next is a video package. It shows Thea Hail and Riley Osborne reflecting on Ridge Holland’s heel turn on Chase U. Osborne and Holland meet in a singles match next week.

CM Punk enters the sound stage, as the studio audience goes wild singing “Cult of Personality” during his entrance. Punk gets into the ring to address the audience. Punk handled some “business” last night on Raw so he would not be in a good mood tonight on NXT.

Punk goes to say to put over the crowd, and he says this is his first time being the NXT ring surrounded by of the NXT fanatics. Punk then kills the “first time” gimmick by saying he used to try sneaking in to watch the NXT show while recovering from an injury. Punk says he recognized some in the crowd as having been here every week, and they say him watching the show despite Punk trying to sneak around. The studio audience then chants “we saw you” at Punk.

Punk keeps putting over the show by saying how much loves watching it. Punk says he is also doing some scouting because he knows one day he might face some of these NXT talents in a ring. Punk mentions several people before he mentioning he has shirts older than Je’Von Evans.

Punk says he talked to Shawn Michaels, and Michaels says Punk can go whatever he wants on the show. Punk is then interrupted by the entrance of NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez. She is looking at her wristwatch during her entrance, which is an obvious nod to Punk.

Perez apologizes for interrupting Punk, and she promised not to interrupt for long. She rants for big on Giulia before Perez says 13-year-old her would be freaking out. Perez puts over Punk as an inspiration for her, but Perez says she always preferred Punk’s wife. The studio audience chants for AJ Lee.

Perez goes on to say she waited so long for Punk to return in WWE. Perez then heels on Punk by saying she should have been a Drew McIntyre fan. Perez tells Punk to stay home at the NXT debut on CW. Perez adds that Chicago will be her town after he defeats Giulia.

Perez keeps cutting a promo on Punk, as he asks if can respond. Perez tells him she is not done yet. Perez cuts a promo on Giulia.

Punk finally responds with some encouragement. Punk says Perez has a chip on her shoulder like Punk had on his shoulder. That is what made Punk the best in the world, and that is also what makes Perez the best not only in NXT, but all of WWE. Punk talks about how Perez could succeed in WWE, but none of that matter if Giulia beats Perez in Chicago.

Speak her name and she appears, as out comes Giula to confront Perez. Giula tells Perez the countdown is on, and Perez has only two weeks remaining as champion. Giulia turns to leave, and Perez goes to attack her. Punk stops Perez and holds her back. Giulia then wags her finger in the face of Perez.

NXT North American Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan cuts a promo on Fatal Influence in an backstage interview. Wren Sinclair interrupts looking to make a name for herself (which plays on an earlier skit). Sinclair slaps Jordan across the face, and Sinclair flees.

The Family is worried about Tony D’Angelo, and he finally breaks. D’Angelo says he is afraid of Oba Femi, and “The Don” is not confident he can beat Femi. What a fantastic way to build a challenger.

Cedric Alexander & Je’Von Evans defeated No Quarter Catch Crew (Myles Borne & Tavion Heights with Charlie Dempsey & Wren Sinclair)

The tag match goes through a commercial break. Heat on Evans as he is worked over. Hot tag to Alexander. When the tide turns again, Evans has to jump in to break up a pinning attempt. Not long thereafter, Sinclair runs down to attack Sinclair at ringside. The women fight their way off the sound stage. Borne is distracted by the goings on at ringside, and he is given a backstabber. Evans follows up by springboarding into a tornillo splash on Borne. Evans then covers Borne for a three count.

A tweet from Randy Orton is shown on screen, in which Orton announces his match on NXT will be against Je’Von Evans.

Ridge Holland cuts a promo on Riley Osborne and company. Meanwhile, Brooks Jensen is heading for Gorilla. Shawn Spears wishes Jensen good luck, and Jensen in turn asks Spear to be in his corner.

Brooks Jensen (with Shawn Spears) defeated Dion Lennox

Jensen pinned Lennox after a DDT. Lennox got some offense, but this match was more about getting Jensen over. Jensen put on Lennox glasses at one point to mock Lennox, which fires up Lennox. He was a cleaning house when he sees Spears grabbing her the glasses. Lennox steps on his foot, before saying, “Not today!” Jensen counters a schoolboy, and then Jensen delivers a DDT on Lennox. One..two…three.

In a video clip posted in X, Wes Lee cuts a promo where to takes credit for injuring Trey Miguel. Lee goes on to cut a promo on Wentz ahead of their street fight.

Lola Vice defeated Jacy Jayne (with Fatal Influence)

Fallon Henley interfered by grabbing Vice’s leg, while Jaxmyn Nyx distracts the referee. However, that backfires on the heel trio after Jayne turns around and walks into a back fist from Vice. A three count later, and Vice has pinned Jayne.

Henley and Nyz jump into the ring to attack Vice for a post-match beat down. Jayne joins in as the heel trio stomp on Vice. Jaida Parker runs down to make a save. Parker cleans house and clears the ring of the heel trio. Vice gets to her feet and she confronts Parker. They have a pull-apart argument. Unlikely partners do not get along. What an original story on a wresting show?

Adrianna Rizzo gives Tony D’Angelo a pep talk, and they hug afterwards.

Tyrese Haliburton is in the ring holding the title match contract in one hand and a microphone in the other. Haliburton says he did not come along, and he brought reinforcements of his own. In the front row are teammates of Haliburton from the Indiana Pacers. The studio audience boos them, which I thought was hilarious. Haliburton then heels on the crowd by insulting the Orlando Magic. More boos. The Haliburton cameo is going rather well, don’t you think?

Trick Williams comes out to join Haliburton in the ring. Trick tries puts over Haliburton, but the studio audience boos again.

Out comes NXT Champion Ethan Page, and he joins Haliburton and Williams in the ring. Trick signed the contract as Page’s entrance.

Page gets into the ring, and Page cuts a promo likening himself to the Boston Celtics (who won the NBA title this year). Page continues his promo by ranting and yelling at Trick. Page then signs the contract.

Haliburton says that is all we have, before he turns back around to say he forgot something. “Hit the music..”

CM Punk enters the sound stage again for his advertised announcement. Punk reveals that he will be special guest referee for the NXT Championship match in Chicago where Williams is challenging Page for the title.

Punk says the only rule is they have to listen to the referee, and he says they can start fighting now. Williams and Page must have listened, because they proceed to have a pull-apart brawl. They are being separated as the show goes off air.

WWE NXT live results: The in-ring debut of Giulia

WWE NXT has a stacked lineup tonight for its third-to-last episode on USA Network.

NXT’s newest arrival Giulia will make her in-ring debut for the brand, facing off against Chelsea Green. Last week, Giulia dropped Green with a knee strike and challenged Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for NXT’s October 1 premiere episode on The CW.

Ethan Page will defend his NXT Championship against either Trick Williams or Pete Dunne on the CW premiere. Williams and Dunne are battling in a Last Man Standing match tonight to determine Page’s challenger.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace is back in NXT to defend her title in an open challenge. Oba Femi will also have a mystery opponent, taking on someone hand-picked by Tony D’Angelo.

An NXT Tag Team title match is set with Nathan Frazer & Axiom defending against The Street Profits, who are serving as a replacement for The Rascalz. Je’Von Evans is challenging Charlie Dempsey for the Heritage Cup, and Duke Hudson goes one-on-one with Ridge Holland.

The show is opening with the tag title match, where The Street Profits are subbing for The Rascalz. The first 30 minutes of the show are “commercial free” for the television viewing audience. That probably means we get more commercial time later in the show to make up the difference.

The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom via disqualification

The Bloodline run in for the DQ. Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Jacob Fatu leave everybody laying. They especially target The Street Profits. This reminded me of a run-in by the NWO on Nitro in the late-90s, where they would ruin an otherwise good match with a needless run-in. At least this may play into something on Smackdown.

Frazier and Ford were especially good in the ring against each other. They were having a good match, albeit short on story. It was wrestling for the sake of it, which is understandable given it was a substitution, Street Profits had executed their finisher when Tama Tonga breaks up the pin attempt. Then the rest of the Bloodline members storm the ring and lay out both teams.

Tony D’Angelo is seen paying off someone for something.

Giulia defeated Chelsea Green

Giulia pinned Green after a Northern lights bomb.

They had a competitive match, for better or worse. Giulia could have looked stronger with a more definitive win, but I am told hardly any one does squash matches anymore. Some of the stuff they did looked like it was painful as hell. Giulia smacks her face taking a suplex. Moments later, Giulia gives Green a draping neckbreaker off the apron to the floor, and it looked rough.

Green cuts off Giulia at one point, and Green sends her crashing into the announce desk. Green then tosses Giulia over the desk. Green climbs the turnbuckles for a missile dropkick, but no water in the pool. Giulia capitalizes with a running knee strike, and Giulia executes a Northern lights bomb. Giulia then covers Green for a pinfall.

Trick Williams cuts a promo in a backstage interview with Blake Howard, talking about Trick’s last man standing match against Pete Dunne. Williams has never been in a last man standing match, but that will not stop him. Nor will Pete Dunne. Williams called Dunne a “class one Butch,” whatever that means. Trick vows to be the last man standing.

TNA Knockouts Jordynne Grace cuts a promo explaining her open challenge for tonight on a video posted to X.

Lexis King is at the hair salon when he shares video clips he dubs his greatest hits. King is admiring his freshly groomed beard when he is suddenly attacked by Oro Mensah.

Lola Vice and Jacy Jayne have words in a locker room skit.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Charlie Dempsey (with Myles Borne & Wren Sinclair) defeated Je’Von Evans (with Cedric Alexander) to retain the Cup

Dempsey scores pinfalls in the second and fifth rounds to win the match, while Evans only scores a pin on the third round. Tavion Heights returns to NXT in this match, doing a run-in that cost Evans the match.

No falls in round one, as times runs out on the first round. Dempsey scores first with round two, pinning Evnas with a Dragon suplex to win the second round. Evans evens the score in the third round, after pinning Dempsey with a springboard tornillo splash. Great action in round four, but no falls. Dempsey has a choke applied on Evans with the bells sounds to end the fourth round. Dempsey would not break the hold, prompting Cedric Alexander to rush in and break up the submission hold.

Dempsey pins Evans in the fifth round to win the match, thanks in large part to a run-in by Tavion Heights. Before that, Borne interferes. This causes Alexander to dive on Borne, and they start brawling their way towards the backstage area. Evans does a big running dive coast-to-coast, and he flew over the corner post on Dempsey. Suddenly, the returning Heights attacks Evans at ringside. Heights suplexed Evans on the floor, and Heights rolls Evans back into the ring so Dempsey can cover him for the deciding pinfall.

Rosemary & Wendy Choo via a creepy video package have a warning for Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley.

Sarah Schreiber interviews NXT Champion Ethan Page, boasts and brags about himself. He scoffs at the notion of having to face either Trick Williams or Pete Dunne. Page says he is rooting for himself.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are set to appear on NXT during the debut episode on CW.

Alexander Hammerstone (billed as simply “Hammerstone”) is revealed as the surprise opponent chosen by Tony D’Angelo. Hammerstone will face Oba Femi in a match that goes head-to-head with the presidential debate airing on numerous other channels and outlets.

NXT North American Champion Obi Femi defeated Hammerstone in a non-title match

Femi pinned Hammerstone clean in a battle of the big guys. They have a decent match, but not as exciting as some of Femi’s other bouts. The story going in is Hammerstone is basically a mercenary for “The Don,” but Tony D’s plan backfires after Femi defeats Hammerstone. Femi cuts off Hammerstone just before they go home, which sets up a powerbomb for the finish.

Duke Husdon is on his way to Gorilla, and he is flanked by Thea Hail and Riley Osborne. Hudson cuts a fiery promo vowing to give Holland a Chase University-size ass whooping, in honor of Andre Chase (who is out selling an injury angle).

Jaida Parker has a baseball bat and she is looking for Fatal Influence. Lola Vice wants Parker to team up, but Parker is not down with that idea, so she keeps looking for the heel trio.

Ridge Holland defeated Duke Hudson (with Thea Hail & Riley Osborne)

Holland pinned Hudson clean after a Redeemer. This grudge match starts with a slugfest, and the brawling quickly spills out of the ring. The tone of the match maintains throughout, as they continue the brawling tactics. Holland does a flying crossbody, and they collide in what looked like a botch. They keep going, and Holland executes a jackhammer on Hudson. Holland then delivers a Redeemer DDT, and he covers Hudson for a pinfall.

Holland again attacks Hudson after the match. Riley Osborne is unable to save Hudson, as Osborne was written out of the match earlier when he rolled his ankle after taking a bump at ringside. Holland mauls Hudson, and Hudson is sent crashing into the barricade. Holland picks up a section of the barricade and he drops it on Hudson. Holland then gives Hudson a Redeemer DDT on the section of barricade. All the while, Thea Hail is screaming for Holland to stop.

Pete Dunne cuts a promo on Trick Williams, ahead of their last man standing match later tonight. Dunne has a mouse under his eye, and he makes it a part of the promo. Good stuff by Dunne.

MizTV is on NXRT for the CW debut on October 1st.

Wes Lee hijacks the shows after interrupting the announcers, Booker T and Vic Joseph. Lee took Joseph’s headset and issues a challenge for a street fight against Zachary Wentz for the debut episode on CW.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defeated Sol Ruca via disqualification in an open challenge

Sol Ruca answers the open challenge. She and Grace wrestle in a match that goes through a commercial break. They have a good match, where Ruca got to shine at times. She launches into a final comeback before Grace rolls through a high cross. Just as Grace was cutting her off, Ruca counters the counter. Ruca hits a tornado DDT for a near fall. They go on to trade several near falls.

Grace trips up Ruca, and Grace executes a muscle buster. Upon impact, the lights in the sound stage go dark. The light go back on and Grace is met by Rosemary and Wendo Choo. Rosemary distracts Grace so that Choo can choke out Grace. That resulted in a DQ. This spooky run-in clearly sets up a future match, or it was done to avoid beating either in an inter-promotional match.

Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley are in a wacky skit that somehow helps build to a tag match next week.

NXT GM Ava is talking in her office with Giulia, with Ava strongly putting over Giulia. In walks NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perex, who opens with snide remarks. Perez cuts a promo on Giulia. Funaki is there eto translate for Giulia, but she responds to Perez in English. Giulia tells Perez that Perez is scared, and Perez should be scared of Giulia.

Trick Williams defeated Pete Dunne in number one contender’s last man standing match

They start with a slugfest, which would be a more effective start had we not not already seen it in another grudge match on this show. Regardless, they hit the ground running. That is both figurative and literally, as they fighting spilled outside before a commercial break.

They brawl around ringside during the break, and the ring steps become a prop in the match. After the show returns from the commercial, a metal folding chair soon becomes a prop, albeit a stiff prop. Dunne removes the padding to expose the concrete floor. Dunne then gives Trick a DDT on the exposed floor. Nevertheless, Trick breaks the ten count. Trick then keeps beating the count in subsequent spots.

Trick delivers a running knee strike, and Dunne looks knocked out. However, Dunne jumps up to break the count at nine. Trick starts dissembling the announce desk, and he props up the cover on the barricade. Moments later, Dunne powerbombs Trick through the desk cover. Trick still answers the count.

They brawl through the studio audience. The fight on top of a perch overlooking the ring, foreshadowing a stunt. Playing off a spot they did in a previous match, they do a Russian leg sweep off the perch. They crash through tables set up below the perch. Out comes Ethan Page, and he pleads with Dunne to get to his feet. Page goes to attack Trick, who instead backdrops Page. With that, Trick gets to his feet, and he wins the match.

Back in Ava’s office, and she just got off the phone with CM Punk. Ava then announces Punk will appear on NXT next Tuesday.

Notably, the Bray Wyatt documentary (as seen on Peacock) followed NXT on the USA Network after NXT goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: The fallout from No Mercy

The fallout from No Mercy goes down on WWE NXT tonight.

After an attack that happened on Sunday, Trick Williams is out for revenge against Pete Dunne. The two are set to face off in a grudge match tonight.

Williams served as the special guest referee for the No Mercy main event that saw Ethan Page retain the NXT Championship against Joe Hendry. After the match, Dunne blindsided Williams and laid him out with the Bitter End.

Giulia made her highly anticipated arrival by confronting NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at No Mercy. We’ll see what’s next for them following Perez’s successful title defense against Jaida Parker.

We have new NXT Tag Team Champions after Axiom & Nathan Frazer regained the belts from Chase U. Tonight, The Rascalz, Gallus, and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger will compete in a triple threat number one contender’s match.

Tatum Paxley vs. Rosemary and Oro Mensah vs. Lexis King are also set.

Arguably the NXT brand’s most over act, Trick Williams, opens the show by entering the ring and calling out Pete Dunne. Instead of Dunne, out comes NXT Champion Ethan Page to interrupt Trick. Page says tradition is after a champion defends a championship, then he gets to open the following show. Page sarcastically says that Trick would know that, but Trick only got to defend his title once.

Trick responds to Page by telling him to shut up. Trick goes on to caution Page that Trick is coming for his title, but Trick has unfinished business first. Page scoffs at Trick claiming the title is his, as Page is the one set to defend the title on the CW debut of NXT. Page plugs the debut date and place as he insults Trick by adding that he doubts Trick will make it to Chicago (for the debut episode on CW).

Suddenly, Pete Dunne runs in trying to ambush Trick. Williams ducks a clothesline, and Trick brawls with Dunne. Security runs down to separate them.

Backstage, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger have words with Gallus ahead of their match. Jaida Parker also has word with the trio known as Fatal Influence.

The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel) defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang with Joe Coffey) and Hank Walker & Tank Ledger in a triple threat number one contender’s tag team match

Miguel pinned Ledger to win the match. The Rascalz move on to title against NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom next Tuesday on NXT.

Lots of action in this match, but it mostly action for the sake of action. Nothing wrong with it as everybody got their moment to shine. The bout goes through a split-screen commercial break. Before the show cuts to the break, Hank & Tank are cleaning house. When the show returns from the break, Gallus take turns working over Hank. Wentz joins in to double team Hank, but Hank clotheslines both. Hot tag to Tank, and he runs wild. Moments later, Wentz breaks up a pinning attempt and tags Miguel, who proceeds to run wild with unique moves. They did a cool spot where Miguel gives Coffey a neckbreaker as Coffey is giving Hank a DDT.

Joe Coffey jumps on the apron to distract the referee, and out runs Je’Von Evans to pull Coffey off the apron. Evans throws hands with Coffey. The Good Brothers also run in, and they distract Hank & Tank. Coffey clotheslines Tank, and Coffey rolls out of the ring for some reason. That allows Wentz and Miguel to climb the turnbuckles. Miguel leaps off the top rope with a meteora on Tank, and Wentz follows up with a senton bomb. Miguel then covers Ledger for a three count.

After the match, the tag champs (Frazier & Axiom) are interviewed on their thoughts about The Rascalz winning the match. In comes The Rascalz to confront the champs. Wentz vows to win the titles next week and take the belts back to TNA. Wentz questions the loyalty between Frazier & Axiom. Frazier scoffs at the notion.

Trick Williams is being interviewed in the locker room when Pete Dunne rushes in to start another pull-apart brawl.

Lexis King defeated Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson)

King, with his feet on the bottom rope, pinned Mensah to win the match. They started what is supposed to a grudge match with a collar and elbow. At least it was a very aggressive collar and elbow lock up. The match itself was good, but the story got uncomfortable by the end.

King forces Mensah into a corner, and King screams that Mensah’s father should have burned to ashes. This plays off a brawl between the two last week where they took pot shots at each other over their fathers. King screaming the insults at Mensah leads to Mensah snapping on King. Mensah gets admonished by the referee for not breaking on the five count when pummeling King in a corner. The ref offers a final warning to Mensah. King then catches Mensah in a cradle, and King puts his feet on the bottom rope for illegal leverage.

In a locker room skit, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi confronts the D’Angelo Family (minus Tony D’Angelo). Femi insults Adrianna Rizzo by saying in many cultures, a woman is meant to be seen and not heard.” Rizzo has to be held back. In comes Tony D’Angelo to take up for Rizzo. The Don also says Stacks will handle business tonight.

Tatum Paxley defeated Rosemary (with Wendy Choo)

Rosemary from TNA is back for another NXT bout where she drops the fall. She at least gets her heat back this week when her and Choo attack Paxley after the match, which leads to the return of Lyra Valkyria to save Paxley.

Rosemary took most of the offense, while Paxley got the win. Paxley used a wicked looking finisher that I can hardly describe. Choo jumps Paxley after the match, and Choo applies a chokehold. Paxley escapes the choke, only for Rosemary to spear Paxley. Choo and Rosemary are about to double team when in runs the returning Lyra Valkyria to make a save. After the heels are sent packing, Paxley jumps into Valkyria’s arm with glee.

Pete Dunne is cutting a promo on Trick Williams when Trick interrupts to start yet another pull-apart brawl. They brawl around the backstage area, and they eventually separated as NXT General Manager Ava gets between them. She then orders them to the ring for their match. NXT Champion Ethan Page steps forward from the background to remark how out of control things have gotten with Ava as GM.

Before the grudge match can start, a video clip from social media shows TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace announcing she will defend the Knockouts title next Tuesday on NXT in an open challenge.

Pete Dunne vs. Trick Williams ends in a double count-out

Williams pummels Dunne around ringside before the bell sounds to officially start the match. They finally get into the ring, and Dunne eventually counters Williams. Dunne punishes Williams until Trick fires up on Dunne.

They tease a high spot by the announce desk. Instead, Williams gets crotched with his leg trapped in the ring skirt. Dunne uses the opportunity to stomp on Trick. Dunne then places Williams’ head on the ring steps, and Dunne stomps on his head. The show cuts to a commercial with Williams in peril.

The show returns from the break with Dunne still in control. Comeback by Williams, and Williams runs wild. Dunne cuts off Williams as Ethan Page is shown watching the match from a backstage monitor. Williams trades moves with Dunne, and they tease a high spot off the top rope. Dunne goes on to execute a sunset bomb of sorts on Trick.

The fight again spills out of the ring. They fight atop the barricade around ringside near the announce desk. Williams teases a chokeslamming Dunne, but Dunne counters by snapping Trick’s fingers. Dunne then executes a Russian leg sweep that puts Trick through the announce desk. The desk shatters on impact. Meanwhile, the referee was counting both out. The bell sounds with both laid out on the floor, resulting in a double count-out.

They brawl again after the match for yet another pull-apart between the two. A return match is all but official.

Ridge Holland cuts a promo within a video package, where Holland explains why he turned on Chase U. Great video package, and Holland makes a lot of sense. Holland then promises a step-by-step destruction of Chase U like he is a comic book super villain.

In a backstage skit, Shawn Spears tells Brooks Jensen “thank you” for saving him. Spears vows to never leave Jensen like others did. Jensen wonders why everyone thinks Spears is manipulating him. Spears asks Jensen what he believes, and Spears tells him thanks one more time. As Spears walks away, Dion Lennox approaches Jensen to tell Jensen that Spears is gaslighting him.

Je’Von Evans defeats Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Evans gets his win back after pinning Coffey to win their return match. Cedric Alexander ran down to save Evans from outside interference from Gallus. As Alexander has words with Gallus at ringside, Evans leaps over the ropes with a dive. Evans follows up by leaping off the top rope into a tornillo splash. Evans then covers Coffey for a pinfall.

Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria patch things up between them, and they agree to team up. This was quite silly.

Sarah Schreiber interviews NXT GM Ava, and Ava announces Trick Williams against Pete Dunne in a last man standing match for next Tuesday. The winner earns a title shot against Ethan Page for the debut episode on CW the following week.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo (with The D’Angelo Family)

Femi pinned Stacks to win the match. Stacks gets pummeled by Femi for much of the bout. Stacks makes a valiant, albeit brief, comeback, but Femi thwarts Stacks. Femi hurls Stscks through the air, and Femi signals for his finisher. A powerbomb later, and Femi covers Stacks for a three count. Femi glares at Tony D’Angelo while pinning Stacks.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis tries to hit on Brinley Reece. Adonis is interrupted by Eddy Thorpe, and they have words. This plays off a similar skit last week, so a match between the two is clearly in the works.

This show seemingly has more skits than an episode of SNL, and here comes yet another. It at least sets up a title match, after Wren Sinclair interviews Je’Von Evans as a potential challenger for the Heritage Cup. Sinclair grants Evans a Cup match next week, much to the chagrin of Charlie Dempsey (who is actually the one defending the Cup). This plays off a skit earlier in the show where Dempsey scolded Evans for being too quick to accept challenges.

Jaida Parker defeated Jazmyn Nyz (with Fallon Henley & Jacy Jayne)

Parker pinned Nyz after a running hip check. Jayne and Henley jump Parker after the match. Fatal Influence beat down Parker, and Parker fights back. Not for long, as the numbers game is too much. Parker is left laying, as she apparently has no friends to save her.

After a commercial break, Fatal Influence crashes a watch party. Jacy Jayne mocks others for being excited about Giulia possibly showing up (although they did not actually say her name). NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice stand up to Fatal Influence. Jayne warns Jordan that her days as champ are numbered.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez enters the ring for a monologue, where she proceeds to brag on herself. Perez boasts she is breaking records as NXT women’s champ, and Perez brags on being at the top of the women’s division. Perez says nobody can defeat her for the title. Not if your are the hottest prospect in NXT, nor if your are the former champion. Perez then says not even if you are “the hottest free agent from Japan trying to steal my shine.”

Perez holds her title overhead as the lights in the sound stage go dark. While most people might have expected Giulia’s entrance, instead out comes Chelsea Green. She insults the live studio audience by saying they smell like mildew and body odor. Green then claims she beloved by the WWE Universe. She would be anything for her fans, except the creepy fans. Green gets in Perez’s face to rant. Green proclaims that no one can tell her she is not the number one contender.

The lights go dark again, and this time it is indeed Giulia. After doing a full entrance with theme music, Giulia gets in the ring. Green tries to intervene, but Giulia lays her out. Giulia then grabs a microphone. She only says two words and two letters.

“Me… You… C-W.”

Looks like Giulia is challenging Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship for the debut episode on The CW.

WWE NXT live results: Joe Hendry concert on No Mercy go-home show

The final WWE NXT episode before No Mercy airs tonight with a go-home show.

TNA star Joe Hendry will attempt to win the NXT Championship when he challenges Ethan Page for the title this Sunday. Tonight, Hendry will follow up his concert from Great American Bash by giving another musical performance.

Kelani Jordan has an NXT Women’s North American Championship defense against Wendy Choo set for No Mercy. Before that, Jordan will be in action tonight against an opponent hand-picked by Choo.

A new match could become official for No Mercy when former best friends Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz meet for a face-to-face following Lee’s recent betrayal.

The D’Angelo Family will continue their war with No Quarter Catch Crew as Stacks, Luca Crusifino & Adriana Rizzo face off against Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne & Wren Sinclair in a six-person tag match. Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson vs. Fallon Henley & Jacy Jayne is also set for the episode, along with Karmen Petrovic vs. Izzi Dame.

NXT tonight was taped from a sound stage at the WWE Performance Center in front of a live studio audience.

The trio recently dubbed “Fatal Influence” cuts a promo backstage before their match tonight. Their opponents, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend of Meta-Four, answer back with a promo of their own.

Jacy Jayne & Fallon Henley with Jaxmyn Nyz defeated Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend

Henley pinned Legend to win the match, after tandem knee strikes and a little help from Nyz.

Legend shines a lot in the match before dropping the fall. In a feat of strength, Legend carries around both Henley & Jayne. Legend tosses aside Jayne, and then Legends swings Henley around like she was a human ladder in the famous Terry Funk ladder spot. Some tandem offense from Legend & Jackson, and Jackson does a suicide dive through the ropes. From there, the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Hot tags when the show returns from commercials break, and Legend with more feats of strength. Chokeslam by Legend for a near fall. Legend & Jackson do a terrible version of the Doomsday Device, and Jackson gets a near fall. Jayne tags in and the momentum shifts momentarily.

Henley low-bridges Jackson when she and Legend are attempting a double-team move, and Jayne gets a two count on Legend. At ringside, Nyz tries to interfere by kicking Legend, who blocks it. Legend then delivers a pump kick to lay out Nyz. However, the interference at ringside caused enough of a distraction for Jayne to catch Legend in a trap. Jayne with a Kerry Von Erich tornado punch to Legend. Tag to Henley. She and Jayne run the ropes and deliver stereo knee strikes to Legend, and Henley covers Legend for a three count.

A video package tells the story that set up Wes Lee vs. Zachary Wentz at No Mercy, which also details the reunion and break-up of The Rascalz.

During a skit with Eddy Thorpe and Ashante “Thee” Adonis, Brooks Jensen is seen in the background ambushing someone with a phantom chair shot.

Karmen Petrovic defeated Izzi Dame

Petrovic pinned Dame in a grudge match. This match was set up on the previous episode of NXT, when Dame attacked Petrovic in the parking lot. The attack on Petrovic caused her to sit out the contender gauntlet, so Petrovic has a score to settle. For the finish, Petrovic counters Dame in a tilt-a-whirl sunset flip, and Petrovic scores a pinfall.

Jaida Parker sits down with Sarah Schreiber ahead of Parker challenging for a women’s title at No Mercy. Parker talks about her journey from LSU soccer player to signing with WWE. Parker then cuts a great promo before NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez crashes the interview. Perez bullies Schreiber and orders her to leave. Perez then sits down to face off with Parker. Perez cuts a promo on Parker, and Parker warns Perez she will slap the taste out of her mouth. Perez goes to speak again, and Parker slaps her hard across the face. Parker then looks off camera, and issues a warning to that person too.

The D’Angelo Family (Adrianna Rizzo, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo” & Luca Crusifino with Tony D’Angelo) defeated No Quarter Catch Crew (Wren Sinclair, Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne) in a mixed six-person tag team match

What looks to be mobsters ordered on Temu try to talk with “The Don” before the match, but Tony D’Angelo tells them they will talk after the match. The mobster also come down to ringside during the match trying to talk with D’Angelo, and he leaves with them.

The match itself goes through a commercial break. The Family is standing tall before the break, and they are running wild as the show returns from the commercials. Stacks is soon cut off from his team, and the the Catch Crew work over Stacks. Hot tag to Crusifino, and he cleans house. Crusifino with a hip toss/neck breaker combo, and he goes for a cover. Sinclair jumps in to break up the pin. Crusifino confronts Sinclair, and Borne saves Sinclair by jumping Crusifino. The fight then spills outside the ring.

At ringside, Sinclair tries to slap Crusifino. He blocks it, which allows for Rizzo to hit Sinclair with a dive through the ropes. Dempesy charges in, and Rizzo gives him a fireman’s carry slam on the floor. Stacks and Crusifino then execute a Shatter Machine on Borne. Crusifino then covers Borne for a pinfall.

In a backstage interview with Kelly Kincaid, Pete Dunne cuts a promo on Trick Williams, in which Dunne challenges Trick to a match next week.

NXT Champion Ethan Page is bugging NXT General Manager Ava in a skit in her office.

Zachary Wentz and Wes Lee have a face off in the ring, with referees and security flanking them. Wentz begins by lamenting on the breakup of The Rascalz. Why laments thinking it would different as every faction or team in wrestling has a break-up. Wentz asks Lee if he is willing to “piss away” nine years just because Lee thinks he is a star.

Lee responds by smugly saying he is a “huge star.” Lee says he is a bigger star than Wentz, and Lee boasts of having accomplished more. Lee says he and Wentz are on “different levels.” Wentz owns to to his mistake, which cost he and Lee to NXT tag titles. Seeing Lee crying over it motivated Wentz to return. Lee again says they are not on the same level.

Wentz emotionally recalls helping Lee during his recovery from back surgery. Lee again says they are different levels. Wentz says Lee has underestimated him their entire lives. Wentz adds that while Lee was smashing records in NXT, Wentz and Trey Miguel were doing what he and Lee could not do. That was win the TNA tag titles. Lee says he wants Wentz to forget everything they know about each other. Lee threatens to show why he is a WWE Superstar and Wentz is “nothing but a TNA wrestler.” Wentz responds by threatening to beat Lee’s ass at No Mercy. They face off and exchange a few barbs off mic as referees step in between them.

Joe Hendry is chatting with Trick Williams in a backstage skit. Hendry promises to give Trick the first title shot if Hendry wins the NXT Championship at No Mercy. This skit really made me wonder why in the world they cooled off Trick so much as a character? He was their hottest act, and he was getting over huge with their audience. Trick then loses the NXT title, and he is later pinned clean by Pete Dunne. Now his playing second fiddle to Hendry, who is outside talent from TNA.

Rosemary from TNA is revealed as Wendy Choo’s handpicked opponent for Kelani Jordan.

NXT North American Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan defeated Rosemary in a non-title match

Jordan pinned Rosemary after a split-legged moonsault. Not sure what TNA is getting out of this inter-promotional deal, but wins do not seem to be part of it. Nevertheless, Rosemary stayed in the ring after the match to watch the post-match angle.

Eerie faces on the video screen and a maniacal laugh frighten Jordan after the match. Wendy Choo then ambushes Jordan. Choo chokes out Jordan while Rosemary looks on in approval.

Oro Mensah is trying to cheer up Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson. In comes Lexis King with jokes poking fun at Mensah. King and Mensah then get into a pull-apart brawl.

Nathan Frazier & Axiom interrupt a class at Chase U, and the former tag champs confront the current NXT Tag Team Champions — Ridge Holland & Duke Hudson. The two teams meet Sunday in a rematch for the titles.

Brooks Jensen defeated Malik Blade

Jensen pinned Blade after a flying elbow drop off the top rope. Although there was an angle to set this up, with Jensen attacking him earlier in the show, this still felt like filler. Maybe because the show was on tape, but there was no sense of urgency. Even with Jensen and the frantic nature of his current gimmick, this seemed to bore. It seems like filler, and it should have meant more, especially in getting over Jensen’s frantic character.

Hank & Tank are talking backstage when they are confronted by OTM. This skit would seem to set up a tag match between the teams.

Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated Je’Von Evans

Coffey pinned Evans, thanks in large part to outside interference from Gallus. While this could set up a return match of some sort with Evans and Gallus, another rising star takes a loss. Nobody got over here, but at least the match was good.

Coffey tries to ground Evans, but Evans would explode with bursts of aerial offense. Wolfgang taunts Evans during the match, and Evans jumps off the apron for a splash on Wolfgang at ringside.

The match goes through a commercial break, and Coffey is working over Evans with a joint lock when the show returns from the break. Comeback by Evans, yet he stops to glare Wolfgang. Springboard crossbody by Evans for a two count. Coffey responds with a near fall of his own.

Coffey uncharacteristically goes for a springboard, and Evans cuts him off with a cutter. Evans then leaps off the top rope into an avalanche cutter. Coffey kicks out for a close near fall. Evans does a flip dive off the top on Wolfgang and Mark Coffey at ringside.

For the finish, Wolfgang distracts the referee while Mark Coffey jumps into the ring. Mark takes a bullet for Joe Coffey, as Mark pushed Joe out of the way. Mark takes a springboard cutter from Evans. Coffey then headbutts Evans, and Coffey winds up to deliver his finisher. Coffey hits Evan with All the Best for the Belles, and Coffey covers Evans for a pinfall.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is waiting for Tony D’Angelo at a restaurant, which was the message the Temu mobsters were trying to tell D’Angelo earlier in the show. The Don and Femi exchange barbs, which builds to their title match on Sunday.

Joe Hendry is headed to the ring for a concert. He gets into the ring and sits down with a guitar. Hendry hypes up his title match at No Mercy. Hendry thanks the audience for their support, and to will play a song to thank them more. Hendry begins to play a song about NXT Champion Ethan Page, and Hendry encourages the crowd to sing along.

Hendry begins singing and strumming a song making fun of Page, as embarrassing photos of Page appear on the video screen. Out comes Page to interrupt the concert. Page goes on to cut a promo on Page.

Page gets in the ring to confront Hendry. The studio audience chants that Page sucks, and they chant to believe in Joe. The chants drowned out Page as Page is trying to cut a promo on Hendry.

NXT GM Ava interrupts Page’s promo. Ava briefly mocks Page for the song about him, until Ava makes a surprise announcement for a guest referee for the NXT title match on Sunday.

Out comes Trick Williams wearing a referee shirt, and the studio audience is going wild for Trick. They chant “whoop that trick” as Trick enters the ringside area. Meanwhile, Page tries to attack Hendry with a belt shot. Hendry ducks and he grabs Page to deliver a chokeslam. Hendry covers Page as Trick counts to three.

As Trick is celebrating with Hendry, Pete Dunne is watching from afar. Dunne says that Trick might not make it to next Tuesday. Whatever that means.

WWE NXT live results: New number one contenders decided

Tonight, WWE will determine Ethan Page and Roxanne Perez’s challengers for NXT No Mercy.

Pete Dunne, TNA star Joe Hendry, and the newly heel Wes Lee are competing in a triple threat number one contender’s match tonight. The winner gets their NXT Championship shot against Page at No Mercy on Sunday, September 1. The PLE is taking place from Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

A gauntlet eliminator match is set to decide the No Mercy challenger for Perez. Jaida Parker, Karmen Petrovic, Wren Sinclair, Kendal Grey, Sol Ruca, and Adriana Rizzo are the participants.

After their NXT Tag Team title win last week, Chase U will hold a celebration for Andre Chase & Ridge Holland tonight. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Lola Vice vs. Wendy Choo, and Ashante “Thee” Adonis vs. Dion Lennox have also been announced.

The show begins with footage from “earlier today” where Karmen Petrovic is attacked by Izzi Dame. Referees and officials pulled Dame away, but Petrovic’s status for the gauntlet match tonight is now in question.

Chase U opens with the show from the sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando, and members of the student body enter through the crowd. Thea Hail, Riley Osborne, Duke Hudson, and the new NXT Tag Team Champions — Andre Chase & Ridge Holland — come through the studio audience on their way to the ring to celebrate winning the tag titles.

Andre Chase says it is a new year for Chase U, with new students, new classrooms, and new champions! Thea Hail is proud of Holland. Duke Hudson congratulated them, while also giving Holland a back hand compliment. Chase also gives Holland props, and Chase thanks him on behalf of the entire student body.

Since something like this in NXT cannot go uninterrupted, out come the former tag champs — Nathan Frazier & Axiom. The dethroned champions offer Chase U a mild congratulations. While the former champs do say Chase U were the better team on that day, Axiom contends Chase U is not the better team everyday. Axiom proclaims he and Frazier as the best team in NXT. Frazier & Axiom with their tone and demeanor are the antagonists here, though not really heels.

Frazier is about to ask for a rematch when Holland interjects. Holland cuts a promo on Chase U being the little engine that could. That is what they taught him. He came to NXT to find himself, but he found himself more lost. But Chase U stood by his side. Holland continues giving props. Holland says he busted his ass for six years and he is finally a champion, but last week was about more than him. Their mission statement is mission accomplished.

Frazier still insists on a rematch for the titles, but Osborne speaks up to say they will have go through himself and Hudson. Axiom & Frazier are then challenged by Hudson to a tag match. If the former champs win, they “maybe” get a rematch at No Mercy.

Frazier & Axiom accept the challenge from Hudson, and they go to leave. Hudson stops them by saying Chase U is always ready. Hudson & Osborne then rip off their tearaway pants like they are Latin Lover, and Chase U is in their wrestling gear ready for a match. Good thing Frazier & Axiom were already in their gear. Hope they stretched beforehand, as their match begins posthaste.

Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne (with Chase U)

Axiom pinned Osborne, which sets up a tag title rematch at No Mercy.

The match goes through a commercial break. Osborne does a flip dive over the ropes, and Chase U is jubilant as the show cuts to a break. The action continues after the break, with the former champs getting heat on Osborne as the show comes back from the break.

Hot tag to Hudson, and he cleans house. Hudson gets a near fall, and Osborne soon tags back in. Together they do a combo move that ends with Osborne giving Frazier a blockbuster-type move. Axiom jumps in to break up the subsequent pinning attempt. Osborne goes for a shooting star press, but Frazier moves. Osborne rolls through, and he runs through a wicked sequence with Frazier. They both springboard for an inverted Spanish fly of sorts.

Phoenix splash by Frazier. Nobody home. Frazier comes back with a superplex and float over for a combo where they then execute ReDRagon’s Enter the Dragon finisher. Frazier then leaps over the ropes to dive on Hudson, while Axiom hooks a leg to cover Osborne for a pinfall.

Cut to a backstage skit in GM Ava’s office, where Stevie Turner and Robert Stone are bickering again as they try to impress Ava. Izzi Dame enters the office, and she assumes she is taking Petrovic’s place in the match later. Instead, Ava says Brinley Reece is added to the match.

After a commercial break, Reece is in the locker room is excited for her match. Wren Sinclair chimes in, and she summons No Quarter Catch Crew.

Wendy Choo defeated Lola Vice

Choo pinned Vice after using a loaded pillow. The underhanded finish clearly sets up a rematch, with Vice looking to get her win back. NXT North American Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan did a run-in, only to get clocked inadvertently by a back fist from Vice. Jordan falls to the mat, and Vice checks on her. Meanwhile, Choo grabs the loaded pillow. Choo smacks Vice with the pillow before scoring the pinfall.

Despite Choo having a campy zombie gimmick, they have a serious match. It was very physical at time, and the match goes through a commercial break. Vice look strong before the break, but Choo is working her over when the show returns from the break. Vice makes a comeback just before Jordan runs in.

Jordan was attacked the previous week by Choo, and Choo stole Jordan title belt. Jordan challenged Choo to a title match at No Mercy. Jordan and Choo are about the brawl when Choo grabs the loaded pillow. Jordan ducks the pillow and grabs it away from Choo. Jordan pulls the North American title belt out of the pillow case to reveal it as the loaded object. Jordan poses with the belt as she stands over a fallen Choo.

Wes Lee is interviewed by Kelly Kincaid. They then cut a split-screen promo with Sarah Schreiber interviewing Joe Hendry. Lee and Hendry meet in a match later, which Hendry calls the biggest match of his career. Hendry vows to win and become number one contender.

A video package focuses on the new trio dubbed Fatal Influence, which consists of Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyz. Henley and Jayne are upset they toiled on the indies for a break, while spoiled college athletes were courted by WWE. The only person that listened to Jayne and Henley was Nyz. So, they are a trio now.

Jaida Parker wins the number one contender’s gauntlet match

Parker is the sole survivor, and she also survived some potatoes. She also dished out her fair share. They all are still green, but they managed to pull this off. Props for that, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. In winning, Parker earns a title shot against NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at No Mercy.

Sol Ruca and Wren Sinclair square off to start the match as he first participants. While this is a “gauntlet match,” it is also similar to the Royal Rumble. After a countdown, new participants enter the ring. Adriana Rizzo is next to enter the gauntlet. She starts off strong, only for Rizzo to be the first eliminated from the match. Ruca does a wacky powerbomb, and she covers Rizzo for the elimination.

The match continues through a split-screen commercial break, with Brinley Reece having entered the bout as the show returns from the break. Kendall Grey enters the match, basically making it a fatal four way for a moment. Grey runs wild, and she pinned Reece for an elimination. Back down to three in the ring.

Ruca puts Grey in a Romero Special, and Sinclair was supposed to bulldog Grey as Grey powers out. But it was mistimed. Ruca later press slams Grey over the ropes on Sinclair. Ruca follows it with a quebrada. Ruca got to shine a lot throughout the match.

Jaida Parker enters the gauntlet, and she is a powerhouse. Parker goes on to pin Grey after a gourdbuster, and Grey is eliminated. Sinclair tried to cradle Parker for a pinfall, but Ruca breaks it up with a springboard into a cutter. Ruca then eliminates Sinclair via pinfall.

Final two are Ruca and Parker. The studio audience rises to their feet, and they are buzzing as the last two face off. Parker blocks a springbaord, and Parker powers Ruca into a Falcon Arrow for a near fall. Small package by Ruca for two as they trade near falls.

Parker appeared to have the wind knocked out of her. Ruca counters a powerbomb, and she falls on top of Parker. There was talking in the ring, but the match continues. Parker is able to get up and walk through a high spot where she sidesteps a springboard by Ruca. Parker takes a straight jacket German suplex. Ruca springbaords into flying body press, but no water in the pool. Parker runs the ropes and delivers a stiff hip attack. Parker then scores the deciding pinfall.

Parker, flanked by OTM, cuts a promo after the match where she vows to be the next women’s champion.

NXT Champion Ethan Page is being interviewed when he is confronted by Pete Dunne, who threatens Page.

Hank Walker & Tank Ledger defeated Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows

Hank pinned Anderson for the upset win. Gallows is posted just before they go home. Hank & Tank then do a tandem finisher, which involves Tank giving Anderson a spear as Hank executes a powerslam. The match was decent, but the finish was quite a surprise.

Hank & Tank celebrate with Vic Joseph at the announce desk. Hank & Tank are rowdy, so out comes security. They merely join in the party, as they celebrate with Hank (who in storyline was once a part of the security team).

Shawn Spears is talking backstage with Malik Blade & Edris Enofe. A brawl breaks out when Spears insults Brinley Reece, and Blade gets angry. Enofe & Blade then brawl with Spears. The camera is knocked over while Spears supposedly is given a chair shot. Spears sells his arm as referees pour in to break up the melee.

Ava got to attend a Slipknot concert and meet the band Slipknot. There was some cross-promotion here, as the announcers on commentary plug Slipknot’s tour.

No Quarter Catch Crews are in the ring to celebrate Charlie Dempsey regaining the Heritage Cup for the faction. Dempsey is trying to cut a promo, but Wren Sinclair keeps interrupting him. Dempsey quotes Lou Thesz and Billy Robinson as he begins his promo. Sinclair interjects. She is not familiar with “Billy Thesz or Lou Robinson.” However, if “Charles” says they are good people, then they must be good people.

Dempsey goes back to boasting as he vows to make the Heritage Cup the most valuable title in NXT. Sinclair again interrupts. She says “Charles” will defend “our” Cup against anyone in an open challenge. The theme music for Oba Femi blares, and out comes the NXT North American Champion. Sinclair is aghast, and she immediately apologizes to Dempsey.

Femi cuts a really good promo as he threatens Dempsey. Out comes Tony D’Aneglo for yet another interruption. Dempsey assumes “The Don” wants a rematch for the Cup. D’Angelo instead blows off that notion. The Don glares at Femi. D’Angelo adds he and The Family do not forget. The Don snaps his fingers, and The Family jumps No Quarter Catch Crew. Meanwhile, The Don is still glaring a hole through Femi. The melee between faction sets up a mixed trios match for next week.

Femi brawls with D’Angelo. Femi hoists him up for a powerbomb, but The Don counters to escape. The Don then gives Femi a spinebuster. D’Angelo grabs the title belt and he places it on a fallen Femi.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis defeated Dion Lennox

Adonis pinned Lennox after a superkick. I can understand wanting to get over Adonis, but did they have to do it at the expense of a debuting Lennox?

They did a skit before the match where three women fawned over Lennox, much to the chagrin of Adonis. Lennox does the Clark Kent gimmick as he wears glasses to the ring. He removes the glasses like Clark Kent turning into Superman, and Lennox is suddenly fired up to wrestle. Or something like that. Regardless, he still lost clean in his in-ring debut on NXT television. So much for being Superman.

They have a competitive match, and Lennox got some offense. Adonis did a corkscrew tornillo splash at one point. Lennox hulked up after being slapped across the face by Adonis. Lennox gets a near fall after an Arn Anderson spinebuster. Before the near fall, Lennox also delivers a receipt by slapping Adonis across the face.

Adonis with an eye poke to counter a suplex. Adonis goes on to trip up Lennox after he climbed the turnbuckles. Lennox takes a Hot Shot on the top rope, and Adonis tunes up the band like he is Shawn Michaels in 1996. Adonis measures and delivers Sweet Chin Music. Adonis then covers Lennox for a pinfall.

Joe Hendry defeated Pete Dunne and Wes Lee in a triple threat match to become the number one contender for the NXT Championship

NXT Champion Ethan Page provided guest commentary for the match, and he would factor into the finish. Trick Williams also runs in for the finish to ambush Dunne, which costs Dunne the match. Lee was odd man out at the finish, despite being heavily involved in the action itself before then. While Lee got to shine at times, this match was more about getting Hendry over as the next challenger. The Trick run in seems to also add more to a potential grudge match with Williams against Dunne. Likewise, Zachary Wentz jumps Lee while looking for a measure of revenge.

The match goes through a commercial break. Hendry stands tall before the break, and he fires up again when the show returns from commercials. Hendry does a feat of strength where he does a double fallaway slam on both Dunne and Lee, or at least he sort of does it. Studio audience still loves Hendry. The crownd claps along and chants for Hendry.

Lee does a lionsault press on both Dunne & Hendry, leading to a triple down. Moments later, Dunne traps both Hendry and Lee in a double joint lock. Dunne also gets a near fall. Lee also gets a near fall, after he spiked Dunne with a tornado DDT. They do what appeared to be a Tower of Doom spot, but the show cut to a wide shot (so possibly the spot was slightly botched). Nevertheless, Lee gets another near fall, only to have his fingers snapped by Dunne moments later.

Hendry with a chokeslam on Dunne, and Hendry goes for a cover. Page pulls the referee out of the ring like he is the NWO on Nitro in 1998. An angry Hendry takes his frustrations out on Lee, as Hendry chokeslams Lee on the announce desk (which did not break). Back in the ring, Hendry delivers another chokeslam. This time on Dunne, but Hendry cannot go for a pin because Page is blocking a new referee from entering the ring.

Hendry is distracted by Page, allowing Dunne to sneak in for a Bitter End. Suddenly, Trick Williams runs in and hits Dunne with a knee strike. Dunne is out cold as Hendry rolls over to drape an arm over Dunne. One. Two. Three. Page saw what was happening, but he was too late in jumping in break up the count. Hendry scores a pinfall to win the match. Hendry is now the number one contender.

Wentz runs in to attack Lee after the match. Security pours into the ring to pull Wentz off Lee as the show ends.

WWE NXT live results: Three championship bouts

With the Olympics over, WWE NXT is back tonight to its usual home on television. NXT returns to USA Network following its Great American Bash episodes, which aired on Syfy the past couple of weeks.

Tonight, Oba Femi is scheduled to put his North American Championship on the line in an open challenge. Alpha Academy’s Otis has vowed to answer that challenge after a confrontation with Femi that took place on Raw.

An NXT Tag Team title bout is set for tonight with Axiom & Nathan Frazer defending against Chase U’s Andre Chase & Ridge Holland. Plus, the Heritage Cup will be up for grabs as Charlie Dempsey challenges Tony D’Angelo.

Wes Lee betrayed The Rascalz last week after he and Zachary Wentz fell short in a title match against Frazer & Axiom. Tonight, we’ll hear from Lee for the first time since his heel turn.

Lexis King vs. Eddy Thorpe has also been announced. Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The show begins with a recap from Great American Bash, and that concludes with the heel turn of Wes Lee. Cut to a backstage door at the Performance Center in Orlando, and in walks Lee. He is asked by a reporter why he turned on The Rascalz. Lee answers, “It’s time to start taking what’s mine.” Then Lee walks away.

Up walks NXT Champion Ethan Page. He asks for the microphone from the reporter, then adds that was a rhetorical question. Page snatches the mic away, and he tosses aside the gimmick piece with the NXT logo. Page replaces it with one that has his own logo. Page then makes his way to the ring for an opening monologue from the brand’s top champion.

Page is cocky as he cuts a promo on his way to Gorilla. He enters the sound stage and poses with his title belt before getting into the ring. Page brags about retaining the title against the challenger Oro Mensah. Page boasts he calls himself “All Ego”, and he was ever right to do so. Page says the “Era of Ego” rolls on, and Page proclaims that no one can take the title from him. Page name drops Wes Lee, Trick Williams, and Pete Dunne as prospective challengers, but he dismisses them. Page again says it is not N-X-T, it’s “N-X-Meee!”

Because almost every monologue on NXT is interrupted, out comes Joe Hendry to confront Page. At least this is surprise appearance by a character that is hugely over. If fewer monologues were interrupted, this interruption by Hendry would mean even more. Regardless, Hendry is over with the live studio audience. He gets into the ring to confront Page.

Hendry gives Page some props for being the talks of WWE… But only for 90 seconds, says Hendry. Then Hendry appears. The studio audience chants for Hendry. Page cuts off Hendry’s promo. Page suggests Hendry take his victory from last week, “and gets your ass back to TNA.”

Page questions why Hendry is still in NXT, and Hendry replies by saying he is there to win the NXT C Championship. Studio audience chants, “We believe.”

Page mocks the audience for believing in Joe Hendry. Page says Hendry’s theme song makes him sick. Page adds that Hendry is on minute 14 of his 15 minutes of fame. What Page believes the most: If Hendry is silly enough to come after Page’s title, Page will expose Hendry for a flash in the pan.

Hendry, with a gimmicked microphone of his own with his initials, cuts a fiery promo in response to Page. Hendry has “grinded” for over 10-plus years, and Hendry says he made believers everywhere he went. Hendry vows to make Page a believer when Hendry takes his title. Hendry breaks into song like this is a musical, and the studio audience sings along with Hendry. His theme music rises and blares as Page leaves the ring. Hendry is in the ring glaring at Page when Hendry is ambushed by Wes Lee. In a sneak attack, Lee blasts Hendry with a superkick. Hendry is laid out with Lee standing over him.

Wren Sinclair was bugging Charlie Dempsey in the No Quarter Catch Crew locker room, and Dempsey insists he needs to focus on his Cup title match tonight. Dempsey adds he has waited months for this match. The idea here is Sinclair is a hindrance, but that notion is a red herring. Not only did Sinclair’s win earn Dempsey the match last week, she goes on to play a major role in the title match that is up next.

Back from a commercial break, NXT GM Ava is surrounded by the women’s roster. There is a tumbler, and Ava says there will be a gauntlet eliminator ahead of No Mercy. Robert Stone and Stevie Turner bicker as usual as they both try to take charge of the lottery itself. They spin the tumbler and draw names. Wren Sinclair, Adirana Rizzo and Sol Ruca are the first names drawn from the tumbler.

Charlie Dempsey (with No Quarter Catch Crew) defeated NXT Heritage Cup Champion D’Angelo (with The Family) to win the title

Sinclair interferes to help Dempsey win the Cup. Dempsey won the title by capturing two falls, with D’Angelo having only won one fall. D’Angelo strikes first after scoring pinfall in the second round with his twisting fisherman’s buster finisher. Dempsey captures a fall in the fourth round by cradling The Dob for a pinfall, and Dempsey scores the deciding pinfall in round five to win the match. Sinclairs trips D’Angelo on the middle rope, and The Don takes a Nestea Plunge into the ring. Dempsey follows up with a butterfly suplex before scoring the deciding pinfall.

The wrestled through the first round with no falls. The match also went through a split-screen commercial break through much of the third round with no falls. Not that it was a bad thing either. This might have been D’Angelo’s best bout as champion. Really good match overall. The finish did not feel cheap despite the interference, as they created a narrative earlier.

Up next was a wacky segment with Lola Vice and Tatum Paxley, that also involved NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan. She was talking with Vice, and they part ways. Vice runs into Tatum Paxley, who is upset no one is her friend. Is this Sesame Street? At least it went somewhere, as this skit sets up a singles match for later on.

A video package hypes up the upcoming match between Eddy Thorpe and Lexis King. The hype video is great. The follow up later not so much, at least for Thorpe. They put him over so strong in the package, only to pin him clean later on.

Lexis King defeated Eddy Thorpe

King jumped Thorpe before the bell. King is able to work over Thorpe, and King works an arm. Thorpe fights back, but King targets the arm again. King then executes his Coronation neckbreaker, and King covers Thorpe for a three count. So much for Thorpe getting a push, but King looked good as a heel here. Bell to bell, Thorpe did well. Too bad he lost clean.

Trick Williams cuts a promo in a video package, hyping up a rematch with Pete Dunne. Williams vows to figure out Dunne.

Dunne is then interviewed by Kelly Kincaid. Dunne blows off a rematch with Williams, and scoffs at the idea. Dunne says he is focused on the NXT Championship.

Lola Vice defeated Tatum Paxley

Vice pinned Paxley after a back elbow. Kelani Jordan was at ringside for guest commentary. Jordan is attacked by Wendy Choo, who ambushes Jordan and applies a Cobra Clutch. Vice is momentarily distracted by the sneak attack at ringside. Paxley tries to capitalize, but she comes up short on a double stomp off the top. Paxley then walks into a back elbow, and Vice covers her for a pinfall. Vice helps Paxley to her feet after the match, while Choo stands over Jordan.

Another skit with GM Ava, as they draw the last three participants in the gauntlet eliminator. The final three entrants are Jaida Parker, Kendal Gray, and Karmen Petrovic.

Wes Lee enters the sound stage to a chorus of jeers. Lee explains his turn in a monologue. He understands the hate. He gets it. He shocked the world last week. Lee says he believed he was going to win the tag titles, but Zack Wentz let him down again. The first time was two years ago when Zack let Lee down. This alludes to Wentz departure from WWE a few years ago.

Lee overcame the odds of being slotted as a tag team guy, and Lee became the North American Champion. Lee accuses Wentz and Miguel of abandoning him, while they reunited in TNA. Meanwhile, Lee broke his back to become a star.

Lee is done being a caretaker for Wentz. Lee is done wondering what Wentz will say or do. This promo was dragging by now, and was too inside baseball at times. Nevertheless, Lee had passion in his words, and anger. Lee says his partners only reunited to get the WWE rub. See, too inside baseball.

Lee goes on tease a match at No Mercy between him and Wentz. No Mercy is fitting, as Lee makes it into a pun. Lee says after he defeats Wentz, The Rascalz can do back to TNA while Lee sets his sights on the NXT Championship. While I criticized some of the booking on this show, here comes some praise. They are doing a great job of getting the NXT title over as something everyone wants to win.

Lee concludes his monologue by wishing his former partner the best in their future endeavors.

Out comes Pete Dunne to confront Lee. Dunne takes exception to Lee wanting the NXT title. Suddenly, Joe Hendry’s theme song blares. Hendry runs in to jump Lee, getting a measure of revenge from earlier. A melee ensues between Lee, Dunne and Hendry. There is a pull-apart, and this seems to set up a triple threat match.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom are interviewed, and the appears to be on the same page again. Something tells me that does not last long, but they nevertheless vow to retain their titles this week.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Otis (with Tozawa & Maxxine) to retain the title

Femi retains after winning a hoss fight. They do a shoulder block spot early that led into a commercial break, where Femi is knocked out of the ring by Otis. When the show returns from the break, Femi is working over Otis.

The match spills outside, and Otis takes an ugly bump on the ring steps. The referee checks on Otis, and the match continues. Otis takes a series of smashes in a corner, but he kicks out for a near fall. Otis counters a powerbomb, and he mounts a comeback. Femi cuts him off, knocking Otis out of the ring.

Femi chops Tozawa off the ring apron, which somehow causes Otis to hulk up. Otis is a seemingly unstoppable force, setting up his worm spot into an elbow drop. Otis follows up with a Vader splash for another near fall.

Otis is punching Femi in a corner, when Femi gives Otis a powerbomb. Femi then covers Otis for a pinfall. The finish was sort of anticlimactic, but Femi had to go over. Really good hoss fight here.

Brooks Jensen is cutting a promo about his downward spiral, but Jensen found a mentor. That mentor is Shawn Spears, who appears to be manipulating Jensen.

Hank & Tank cut a promo in which they reveal a match next week against The Good Brothers.

Izzi Dame defeated Brinley Reece

Dame pinned Reece in a match where they tried, but they were put on a bad spot late in the show. They set up the match in a skit earlier in the show, which played on the gauntlet eliminator. The match plodded along until the finish. Reece goes for a hand spring, and Dame cuts her down with a high kick. Dame then executes her finisher, which is sort of a combo of a fallaway slam into a uranage.

Kelly Kincaid interviews GM Ava, who makes the triple threat match official between Wes Lee, Pete Dunne and Joe Hendry. The winners gets a NXT title shot at No Mercy. In walks NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, who cuts a snarky promo about the gauntlet eliminator.

There is some hard sell for the NXT shows on the road, as Shawn Michaels plugged ticket sales for the first two weeks on The CW.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Ridge Holland with Thea Hail, Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne) defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom to win the titles

Holland pinned Axiom to win the titles. Really good bout, and Chase U certainly needed a win.

The match itself goes through a split-screen commercial break. Axiom & Frazier do a parade of dives before the show cuts to commercials. After the break, the action continues after a double down. Hot tag to Holland, who cleans house. Holland is cut off by Axiom & Frazier. Tandem and stereo moves by the defending champs. Frog splash by Axiom and 450 by Frazier, but Holland kicks out. Holland fired up, and Chase tags in to get a near fall.

Chase is perched on the top turnbuckle as Axiom & Frazier signal for their tandem finisher combo, but in runs Holland to break it up. Axiom almost kicks Frazier, playing on what happened last week. Frazier blocks the inadvertently thrown kick. That led into a false finish.

Axiom & Frazier do their tandem finisher with the superplex/Chasing the Dragon combo. Chase manages to kick out for a close near fall. Shocked face from Frazier. They go on trade near falls with Chase U. Holland & Chase do a powerbombs/backstabber combo for the last near fall.

Axiom and Holland do a Spanish Fly, which is supposed to set up Frazier doing a Phoenix Splash. However. Chase shoves Frazier off the top turnbuckle, and Frazier sails to the floor. But the announce desk broke his fall. Meanwhile in the ring, Axiom is in disbelief. Yet, he springs into action by giving Chase a shining wizard. Chase takes a bump off the apron. Holland then turns Axiom inside out with a lariat clothesline, and Holland follows up with his DDT finisher. Holland then scores a pinfall on Axiom, and Chase U win the tag titles.

Confetti fell as jubilation continues for Chase U.

WWE NXT live results: Great American Bash week two

Great American Bash 2024 concludes with three more championship matches taking place tonight.

For the second consecutive week, NXT will be on Syfy due to the Olympics. An NXT Championship match headlines tonight’s broadcast with Oro Mensah challenging Ethan Page for the gold. It’s the second defense Page has made since becoming champion at Heatwave last month.

Kelani Jordan puts her NXT Women’s North American Championship on the line against Tatum Paxley. Plus, the NXT Tag Team titles will be defended as Nathan Frazer & Axiom take on the recently reunited MSK (Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz).

Wentz is able to appear for NXT as part of WWE’s relationship with TNA Wrestling. Following his concert last week, TNA star Joe Hendry is set to appear again when he faces Joe Coffey tonight.

Former NXT Champion Trick Williams will be in action against Pete Dunne on tonight’s show. Wren Sinclair vs. Kendel Grey has also been announced.

Week two of Great American Bash begins with a recap of the first week. Highlights from last Tuesday showed results of the top matches and angles.

Opening the show is men’s singles match from a sound stage at the Performance Center, and NXT is taped in front of a live studio audience. The top star of the NXT brand, Trick Williams, is set for a singles match against Pete Dunne, who is a main roster wrestler with a previous history in NXT.

Pete Dunne defeated Trick Williams

Dunne pinned Williams clean in a really good match. As a pure wrestling match, this was one of Trick’s best. He drops the fall, which could easily lead to a return match.

Williams overpowers Dunne early on, until Dunne takes him down. Dunne goes to work with joint locks. Ground and pound and a triangle applied by Dunne, but Trick powers out with a dead lift into a powerbomb. They go on to trade stiff chops like this was Ronnie Garvin against Greg Valentine.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. The show goes into the break after Tricks counters a springboard into a neckbreaker. During the break, they spilled out onto ringside, where Dunne stomps Trick’s hand on the ring steps. Dunne is working over Trick as the show returns from the break.

Comeback by Trick. He does a kip up as he fires up. Dunne tries to counter, only for Dunne to take a Rock Bottom. Nevertheless, Dunne is eventually able to counter Trick. Dunne drops Trick with a kick, and Dunne climbs the ropes. Trick cuts off Dunne, and Dunne takes an avalanche flapjack off the top turnbuckle.

They trade strikes and kicks, and Trick gets a near fall after delivering a pump kick. Dunne comes back with some fire, and Dunne viciously stomps on Trick. Trick does another kip up, this time while in a test of strength with Dunne. Trick fires up, but Dunne has yet another counter for Trick.

Dunne snaps the fingers, and Trick sells at first. Trick then snaps, and he hulks up. Blinded by rage, Trick misses a jumping knee strike into a corner. Dunne capitalizes with the Bitter End, and Dunne floats over into a pin on Trick.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger are hosting a barbecue in a skit. Lexis King messes around and finds out, as he is kicked out of the BBQ. Robert Stone and Stevie Turner then sit down to have an eating contest. To be continued…

NXT Champion Ethan Page is in the trainer’s room, and he has word with one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, Nathan Frazier. They exchange barbs.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan vs. Tatum Paxley to retain the title

Jordan pinned Paxley after a frog splash. Jordan sold her knee for much of the match, but she fought through the adversity. Good character development for Jordan, and her next title program is seemingly set up with an angle after the match involving Wendy Choo.

They each showcased their acrobatics early on in the match. The studio audience starts dueling chants at one point. Jordan with a corkscrew plancha to the floor. Paxley crawls underneath the ring. Jordan looks under the ring, only to fund a voodoo doll of herself. Paxley then ambushes Jordan with a chop block.

The title bout goes through a split-screen break. Paxley works over Jordan’s knee during the break. Rally by Jordan as the show returns from the break. Double down, and out comes zombie Wendy Choo.

The match goes on, and Jordan goes for a handspring into the ropes. Her knee buckles, and Jordan crumples to the mat. Paxley tries to capitalize, but Jordan has counters. Jordan recovers, and she goes for a split-legged moonsault. No water in the pool, as Paxley rolled away. Paxley then climbs the ropes and does a 450 splash for a close near fall.

The bout continues and they fight on top of the turnbuckles, setting up a Spanish Fly. Jordan then pulls herself onto the top rope with one leg. Jordan then leaps off into a frog splash, and Jordan covers Paxley for a pinfall. Wendo Choo lays out Paxley after the match, and she glares at Jordan with a zombie stare.

Wren Sinclair is once again blackmailing Charlie Dempsey, and Dempsey agrees to allow Sinclair into his faction if she wins her next match.

Nathan Frazier is getting worried his tag partner Axiom is going to no-show, when in walks Axiom. The tag champs then go off to talk strategy, although Frazier is clearly irritated with Axiom.

Pete Dunne is cutting a promo when he is jumped by Trick Williams. They have a pull-apart brawl, so there is clearly a return match in their future.

NXT Champion Ethan Page defeated Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) to retain the title

Page pinned Mensah to win the match and retain his title. Page worked hard, but this was basically The Oro Mensah Show.

Quick pace at the start. The beginning was much more PWG than WWE, until the show cuts to a commercial break. The pace slows, but the pace quickens again when the show returns from the break. Mensah goes for a lionsault, and Page cuts him down with a drop kick. That nets Page a near fall.

Mensah sells his back, playing up a spot during the break. Nonetheless, Mensah fight back. Mensah pops Booker T on commentary, as Book shouts “WOW” after Mensah delivers a Booker T-style scissors kick. Near fall for Mensah.

They tease a superplex spot. That was smokescreen transition for the match to go outside the ring, as Mensah boots Page off the apron. Mensah sails through the ropes with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, another near fall for Mensah. Missile dropkick by Mensah, and Mensah follows up with a wrecking ball dropkick.

They fight around the set onto a gimmicked picnic area. Page slams Mensah on a picnic table. Page follows that by giving Mensah a Razor’s Edge on the table. Page drags Mensah back to the ring to give him a DDT, yet Mensah kicks out for a near fall. Mensah gets several more near falls, leading into Mensah delivering a spinning heel kick. Mensah connects and goes for a cover. The referee holds up his count, as Page’s left leg is under the bottom rope.

Mensah slips on the ropes going for a springboard. Crash and burn. Page boots Mensah in the face, and Page executes the Ego’s Edge (Razor’s Edge). Page then covers Mensah for a three count, and Page retains the title.

After the match, Page breaks the fourth wall while cutting a promo, as he looks directly into a camera. Page says this is no longer NXT. He exclaims, “It’s N-X-MEEEEEE!”

The Rascalz are interviewed ahead of MSK’s title match later tonight where they challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, and a frat bro in a romper is put through a table. Lola Vice punches the bro in the gut for making a sexist remarks. Sola Ruca and Jaida Parker then put the bro through the a table with a double team powerbomb.

Joe Hendry defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Hendry pinned Coffey to win the match. Hendry was over huge with the studio audience. Before the bell sounds to start the match, Hendry leaps over the ropes for a dive on Mark Coffey and Wolfgang. Crowd chants “we believe” as Hendry is running wild. He is soon cut off by Coffey.

Hendry fights back, and he steps out of harm’s way when Coffey springboards off the middle rope. Coffey lands with a thud. They wrestle on. Coffey is clotheslined out of the ring as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Hendry is being worked over when the show returns from the break. Wolfgang and Mark Coffey pull Hendry out of the ring to attack him. Hendry fights them off, and does an Eddie Guerrero spot. Hendry toss a chair to Wolfgang, and Hendry takes a phantom bump on the announce desk. The ref spots Wolfgang with the chair, and the ref ejects Gallus from ringside.

A rally for Hendry as he plays to the crowd. They eat it up. Hendry delivers a chokeslam, and Hendry covers Coffey for a three count.

In a post-match interview, Hendry says he likes it in NXT. Hendry says he might stay a while longer, and a lot of people in the locker room have a problem. Hendry says they can meet him next Tuesday. No need to even speak his name, Hendry vows to appear.

At Chase University, Ridge Holland announces in class he has a tag team title match booked for Chase U. Duke Hudson pops, but his bubble is soon burst as Holland informs him he challengers for the titles will be Holland and Andre Chase.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, with Shawn Spears again trying to get inside the head of Brooks Jensen. The Good Brothers show up the BBQ, and they insult Hank & Tank. That led to a brawl, and it also appears to set up a tag team grudge match between the two teams.

Wren Sinclair (with Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne) defeated Kendal Gray (with Carlee Bright)

Sinclair won via pinfall, and in winning, Sinclair earns a spot in No Quarter Catch Crew. Dempsey teased cheating on behalf of Sinclair, but he thought better of it. Sinclair won after delivering headlock DDT. Sinclair is beginning to begrudgingly respect Sinclair’s in-ring ability.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a video package. It focuses on Matt Bloom being his coach in NXT.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz (with Trey Miguel) to retain the titles

Fast-paced action and high spots galore, as one might expect with these guys. It made for an exciting bout. Big angle after the match with Wes Lee turning on The Rascalz. Really good match, and a great angle afterwards.

The match goes through a commercial break. The champs each do a dive, and they pose with their title belts as the show cuts to the break.

There were some really cool spots in this match. Hard for me to do them any justice on paper, but the crowd was super into the action. They build to stereo hot tags, and the fast paced action continued. Lots of double team and tandem spots.

Axiom & Frazier do their stereo finisher combo (Spanish Fly by Axiom and a Phoenix Splash by Frazier), but the subsequent pinning attempt is broken up.

Playing on the dissension within their team, Axiom mistakenly superkicks Frazier. Wentz capitalizes by springboarding into a cutter. Frazier kicks out for a close near fall, and the crowd goes wild. Wes Lee tags in, and a moment later he is going for cover. Axiom jumps in to break up the pin.

Just before going home, Frazier executes a superplex on Lee. Frazier floats over and lifts Lee into a vertical suplex. Axiom comes in to deliver a kick, as he and Frazier do a version of reDRagon’s old finisher, called Chasing the Dragon. Lee kicks out for yet another close near fall. Frazier then hold Lee so Axiom can hit the Golden Ratio. Axiom then covers Lee for the deciding pinfall.

Wes Lee is broken after the match, as he is helped to his feet by Wentz and Trey Miguel. Lee is told by Wentz they will get another title shot again. Miguel is in tears over the loss. Suddenly, Lee superkicks Miguel, and Miguel is laid out.

Wentz screams at Lee, as Wentz is in disbelief. Lee then attacks Wentz, giving him a low blow. Lee stands over Wentz, and Lee screams at Wentz that they left him alone. Lee punches Wentz several times, and Wentz is kicked out of the ring.

On the floor, Lee sents Miguel crashing through a barricade at ringside. Lee then delivers a running knee strike that sandwiches Wentz in the ring steps. Lee then leaves. He stops briefly to turn back and look at his carnage, as the show fades to black.

WWE NXT live results: Great American Bash week one

Great American Bash 2024 begins tonight on a special episode of WWE NXT.

The two-week Great American Bash event is airing on Syfy due to USA Network’s coverage of the Olympics. Three title matches are scheduled to take place tonight, headlined by Roxanne Perez vs. Thea Hail for the NXT Women’s Championship. Hail is looking to dethrone Perez and begin the first championship reign of her young career.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn are in NXT to make their first title defense. They’re taking on Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson.

The Heritage Cup will be defended as Tony D’Angelo faces Tavion Heights of No Quarter Catch Crew.

A six-woman tag match with Sol Ruca, Karmen Petrovic & Lola Vice facing the mean girl trio of Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx is also set. Plus, TNA star Joe Hendry will make another NXT appearance as he performs a concert tonight.

The setting for the NXT Great American Bash is a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando, and the show is taped before a live studio audience. The set is very American, and there is somewhat of a throwback look as the ring ropes are red, white and blue, much like the golden era of the World Wrestling Federation. The color scheme also plays into the patriotic theme. Bunting flags hang from barricades and other parts of the set, and the LED screens are also red, white and blue.

Opening the show is a wacky skit where Hank Walker & Tank Ledger try to break into the PC ahead of the Bash. Apparently their idea in breaking into the building is to somehow secure their spot as the hosts of the show. They break like this is Mission: Impossible, as they bypass a key pad and pick locks . Tank thinks he found the firewall, but it was just a few pieces of drywall. They unplug some wires and alarms go off. They poorly maneuver around laser, and somehow kill the power. No worries, though. They flip another switch as they welcome us to The Great American Bash.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn defeated Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend (with Oro Mensah) to retain the titles

Dawn pinned Jackson to win the match. They were given plenty of time, and they did well. An angle with NXT Champion Ethan Page follows the bout. Although Meta-Four lose the match, they sort of save face in the end with the angle.

The match itself goes through a commercial break. Legend & Jackson rally and stand tall as the show cuts to a split-screen break, and Jackson was being worked over when the show returned from commercials. Hot tag to Legend, and she cleans house.

They wrestle on and the challengers get some near falls, but pinning attempts are broken up or kicked out. As they go home, Dawn jumps off the ring apron with a meteora to Legend on the floor, and it looked like it hurt like hell. In the ring, Fyre counters Jackson. The champions then execute their finisher on Jackson, and Dawn covers Jackson for a three count.

NXT Champ Ethan Page comes out after the match to cut a promo on Mensah, who is the challenger for Page’s title next week on week two of The Bash. Page gets into the ring to confront Mensah. Page is holding his title belt, and he tells Mensah this is as close as he well get. As he says that, Page goes for a belt shot, but Mensah ducks and shoots behind. Mensah rolls up Page with a schoolboy. Jackson & Legend count to three, and Mensah gets a visual pin on the champ ahead of their match next week. Later on they have a contract signing.

Cedric Alexander is advising some rookies when he is confronted by Shawn Spears. They exchange words, and in rushes Brooks Jensen to cause a ruckus. He jaws with Alexander, which seems to set up a singles match between them.

Hank Walker is wearing a patriotic sports jacket that seems too small on him. He interviews Tavion Heights, who is wearing an Olympic jacket. Heights talks about this time four years ago he was competing in the Olympics. Heights is not afraid of big matches, and he is ready to face a shooter.

Tanks Ledger, also wearing a sports jacket that would make Boyd Pierce proud, interviews NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo. “The Don” is sure he will successfully defend his trophy.

Pete Dunne is the focus of a great video package. Trick Williams is watching the video package, and he vows to whip Dunne’s ass next week, so they are apparently booked in match for week two of The Bash.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Adriana Rizzo and Luca Crusifino) defeated Tavion Heights (Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne) to retain the title

D’Angelo wins two falls to one, after scoring pinfalls in the third and fifth rounds.

First round ends with a stalemate. They grapple through the time, and with under 30 seconds remaining in round one, they each grab an ankle lock as the bells sounds in end in the round.

Wren Sinclair is seen cheering on No Quarter Catch Crew from the front row ringside.

Second round begins during a split-screen commercial break. As the show returns from commercials, they do a superplex spot as time runs out on round two. Still no falls, but that would change quickly in the third round.

Third round goes less than a minute, as Heights rushes. D’Angelo counters, but Heights comes back with more. However, Heights sells like his back goes out trying a suplex. D’Angelo capitalizes with his twisting fisherman’s buster finish, and D’Angelo scores he first fall with a pinfall round three.

Fourth round is very short like the previous round. Sinclair jumps into the ring between rounds, and she screams at Heights to motivate him. Heights is a house of fire, and he gives D’Angelo a belly-to-belly suplex to even the score. Heights covers D’Angelo for a pinfall, evening the score at one fall apiece.

Fifth round goes much longer as they fight on. The intensity really picked up down the stretch. D’Angelo fires up just before they go home. He gives Heights a belly-to-belly, but Heights kicks out. A few moments later, D’Angelo executes another belly-to-belly to score the deciding pinfall.

Promos originally posted to social media build up a six-woman tag team match for later tonight.

Cedric Alexander defeated Brooks Jensen

Alexander pinned Jensen after a lumbar check. Coming off a big win, Jensen loses clean here. Shawn Spears watched the match from ringside.

Jensen with a ton for fire at the start. They go on to trade near falls. Jensen kicks out after taking a Michinoku Driver from Alexander. Jensen with a Bobby Eaton flying legdrop off the top rope, but Alexander kicks out at two and a half.

The fighting spills outside the ring. Jensen leaps off the apron into a somersault senton of sorts, only to crash and burn as Jensen slams himself into the announce desk. Alexander sees his opening, and he gets Jensen back into the ring so Alexander can execute a lumbar check. Alexander then scores a pinfall.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a video package that is to be continued…

Joe Hendry is chatting with some women backstage when he excuses himself so he can head to the ring. Ashante “Thee” Adonis enters the scene and leaves with a woman under each arm.

The Rascalz are their “magical treehouse”, which spoofs the gimmick in That 70’s Show where the teenagers smoke pot in a circle. Rascalz tease that too, but this is PG. They mention never having actually lost the tag titles, and Wes Lee says he is going to text the champs. They then turn off the camera so they can presumably do whatever is not PG.

Joe Hendry is seated in the ring with guitar, and he is over with the live studio audience. Hendry proceeds to play a song where he takes digs at Gallus. Like a real musician, Hendry takes a moment to tune his guitar before starting the song.

In the song, he makes a joke claiming Joe Coffey is the son of Dutch Mantell. Coffey then makes a joke about Coffey being deported for having bad facial hair. Hendry gets the crowd to clap along, and the audience also chants “we believe” at Hendry.

Hendry puts over the crowd before saying there will be an encore. Hendry is about to start when out comes Gallus to interrupt the concert. Joe Coffey cuts a promo on Hendry as Joe, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang surround Hendry. They jump Hendry. Mark and Wolfgang hold Hendry so Joe can hit Hendry with the guitar, which is broken over Hendry’s back. Gallus fold their arms and stand over a fallen Hendry.

Hank & Tank take part in another wacky skit, where they are talking with NXT Womens’ Champion Roxanne Perez. Jaida Parker walks by and takes a verbal jab at Perez.

NXT Champion Ethan Page and Oro Mensah sit down across a table from each other in NXT GM Ava’s office. They cuts promos on each other before signing the contract for their match next week.

Jaida Parker defeated Kendal Gray (with Carlee Bright)

Parker pinned Gray after a running knee strike. Gray had a cameo last week when she suplexed a man, and this week she was in a match. Although she gets some offense, this match was a showcase to get Parker over.

Parker does an inverted vertical suplex at one point, as she pummels and punishes Gray. Parker bumps and feed when Gray makes a comeback. As Gray is running wild, out come Myles Borne and Wren Sinclair. Borne argues with Carlee Bright, and Gray leaves to ring to suplex Borne. After suplexing Borne, Gray gets back in the ring to get a near fall.

As they go home, Parker cuts off Gray. Tear Drop spot by Parker, followed by a gourdbuster. Parker then delivers her finisher, and she covers Gray for a pinfall.

Ridge Holland gives Thea Hail a pep talk, and in walks the rest of Chase U. Andre Chase seems to take exception to Holland telling Hail to “do whatever it takes” to win the title tonight. Should be noted that Chase U was decked out in the black shirts Holland brought for the group, except for Andre Chase.

More tension between the NXT Tag Team Champions in a backstage skit. Axiom apparently agreed to defend the tag titles next week against the LWO. That upsets Nathan Frazier, as Axiom did not consult him first.

Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx defeated Karmen Petrovic, Lola Vice & Sol Ruca in a six-woman tag team match

Henley pinned Petrovic to win the match.

The match goes through a commercial break, and it probably went too long. Sol Ruca popped the crowd before the show cuts to commercial, as he leapt off the top turnbuckle with a corkscrew moonsault. The babyfaces were looking strong, but Petrovic was getting worked over by the heels when the show returns from the break.

Hot tag to Lola Vice, and she cleans house with kicks and strikes. Sol Ruca does a take-off of the Buckshot Lariat (Money Clip) that was both impressive and cheesy. Trifecta of hip attacks by the babyface trio, and Ruca gets a near fall.

Melee in the closing minutes, and everyone getting involved and everybody is down selling. That led into a parade of spots on the home stretch. Petrovic gets some near falls, but she is eventually cut off. Jayne & Nyz run interference so that Henley can deliver her finisher. Henley then covers Petrovic for a pinfall.

A few of the women in this match should already be on the main roster, but especially Fallon Henley. Instead, she is aimlessly in a trio with no real direction for her character other than being a bitter heel.

NXT North American Champion Kelani Jordan and Tatum Paxley are in a skit that also features Wendy Choo. The less said, the better, but I well say it was silly. Regardless, this sets up a North American title match for next Tuesday.

Joe Hendry cuts a promo on Gallus as Hendry is leaving the building. Henrdy vows to get revenge on Joe Coffey in a singles match next week on NXT.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Thea Hail (Andre Chase, Ridge Holland, Riley Osborne & Duke Hudson) to retain the title

Perez pinned Hail after Pop Rocks. Really good match to cap off the show.

Some grappling earlier on, and the match goes through a commercial break. Hail does a moonsault to the floor off the middle turnbuckle. Cut to a split-screen commercial break, and the match continues during the break.

Thea Hail fires up at one point, and she begins to run wild. Perez counters to trap Hail in a submission hold. Rope break, and the match rolls on. Perez argues with Chase U at ringside, allowing Hail to sail through the ropes with a suicide dive. Hail follows up with a high cross and a Michinoku Driver for a near fall.

Hail was going for a Northern Light when Perez counters by snapping Hails’ arm. Perez then teases Pop Rocks, but Hail escapes to catch Perez with a backslide for two. Hail goes for a Kimura. They trade submission holds several times going from a Kimura to a crossface. Hail powers to her feet with Perez on her shoulders. They do an awkward rolling fireman’s carry slam, and Hail springboards into a Nestea Plunge and a near fall.

Hail is dragging Perez back to the middle of the ring when Perez grabs the ring skirt. The referee goes to kick the skirt out of the ring, and he turns his back on the action. Perez then pokes Hail in an eye. Saito suplex by Perez, and a splash. Hail gets one last hope spot, as she moves when Perez charges towards her in a corner. Perez posts herself shoulder first, and Hail applies the Kimura. They roll out of the ring to the floor, where Perez smashes Hail into the ring steps.

Back in the ring, Perez goes back to the crossface, and Hail counters into yet another near fall. Hail with her submission hold, but Perez escapes to again apply a crossface. Hail was reaching for a rope break when Perez uses her foot to push off the bottom rope, and she rolls them away from the rope. Perez transitions and executes Pop Rocks, and Perez covers Hail for a three count.

WWE NXT live results: Thea Hail sit-down interview

Before challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship, Thea Hail will speak tonight.

A sit-down interview with Hail is set to take place on tonight’s WWE NXT episode. A title match between Perez and Hail has been confirmed for NXT Great American Bash, which is a special two-week television event that begins next Tuesday (July 30) and concludes on August 6.

NXT airs on USA Network tonight before moving to Syfy the next two weeks due to USA’s Olympic coverage. A no disqualification match is part of tonight’s lineup with Josh Briggs clashing with his former tag team partner Brooks Jensen.

Plus, Ashante “Thee” Adonis returns to NXT for a match with Oro Mensah, Eddy Thorpe goes one-on-one with Lexis King, and aspiring No Quarter Catch Crew member Wren Sinclair looks to prove herself as she faces off against Carlee Bright.

The show opens with Trick Williams arriving to the building in a Mercedes-Benz. Just in time for the show to start, and he parks right in front. Williams gets out of the car in such a hurry, he leaves the driver’s side door open as fans outside mob the scene. Dressed in jeans with no shirt, Williams is wearing a cap that reads “WHOOP THAT TRICK” across the front.

Williams enters the sound stage and heads towards the ring. He is opening the show with a monologue. Since losing the NXT title a few weeks ago, Trick says he does not feel himself. Like he is missing a part of himself. Trick talked to some “O.G.’s” in the locker room, and he will not stop until he gets the title back.

One person Trick talked with was Cedric Alexander. Trick also passed him on his way to the ring on this episode, where Alexander once again cautioned Trick. Nonetheless, Trick is determined to challenge Ethan Page and regain the NXT Championship. As Trick is in the ring for his promo, out comes Alexander to confront him.

Alexander says he did not want to do this in front of the world, but the advice Trick was looking for make from a good place. Alexander again cautions Trick, but they are interrupted by Ashante “Thee” Adonis. He trades barbs with Trick over who is dropping the ball. Alexander tells Trick that he is again letting his emotions dictate how he responds.

Adonis and Trick continue insulting each other. Alexander asks Adonis if he would go to the back and let Alexander handle this. Adonis says whatever advice Alexander gives Trick, it will not click. Between them in the ring, Adonis says Trick is in third place. Trick answers back that he has never been third place. Listen the crowd, he says. Trick is gold.

Alexander takes exception to Trick’s comments, and Alexander takes it was Trick saying he is better than Alexander. That leads to Alexander cutting a promo on Trick, and he challenges Trick to a match tonight. Trick accepts the challenge. Adonis chimes in that this is another mistake by Trick, and Trick punches Adonis. Feeding into Trick, Adonis takes a few more punches, and Adonis is clotheslined out of the ring. Adonis was angry, but referee held him back. He never lost his fur coat, which was impressive. I was impressed he can wear that in Florida this time of year. Must be hot.

Brooks Jensen defeated Josh Briggs in a no disqualification match

Briggs was on his way to the ring when Jensen jumps him backstage near gorilla. Jensen gets the drop on Briggs with the sneak attack. The match is underway when they get to the ring. Briggs makes a quick comeback, and Briggs sends Jensen sailing into the front row of ringside.

Briggs chokeslams Jensen on the announce desk, and the desk implodes. The show cuts to a split-screen commercial break with Jensen laid out in the rubble. When the show returns from the break, Booker T and Vic Joseph are calling the match with no desk. More plunder is in the ring when the show returns, including a chunk of the ring steps, a few kendo sticks, and a piece of the desk.

Briggs’ back is bloody and red from shot from the kendo stick. Briggs fights back to give Jensen a back drop on the ring steps, and Jensen sells big. Looked like it hurt like hell. They fight on with a slugfest. Double down as they both land a big boot. Another double down as they each hit the other with a kendo stick.

Briggs cuts off Jensen when Jensen was going for a chair shot. Briggs grabs the chair, and Jensen begs off. Shawn Spears appears out of nowhere and jumps on the apron. Spears encourages Briggs to use the chair. Briggs instead grabs Spears by the lapels. Spears then encourages Jensen to use the chair, and Jensen does. He smacks Briggs in the back with the chair. Jensen hits Briggs repeatedly with the chair. Jensen points to Spears before giving Briggs a DDT on the chair. Jensen then covers Briggs for a pinfall.

Jensen finally gets a big win, and Briggs is on his way to wrestle in Japan.

Rascalz and the NXT Tag Teams Champion — Axiom and Nathan Frazier — set up a trios match in a locker room skit. Axiom and Frazier have to find a third partner for the six-man tag, but they have other issues as there is tension again. This time it is Axiom’s involvement in the next Speed tournament.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Lexis King

Thorpe pinned King clean to win the match, but King attacked and injured Thorpe after the match to keep the feud going. King took a majority of the offense until the finish. King was setting up for his Coronation finisher when Thorpe counters him. Thorpe delivers an implant DDT, and Thorpe scores a pinfall.

King jumps Thorpe after the match, and King sends Thorpe crashing into the ring steps. King traps Thorpe’s hand on top of the steps, and King grabs his walking cane. King uses the cane to smash Thorpe’s fingers.

Trick Williams is being interviewed in a locker room when Pete Dunne chimes in. This appears to foreshadow something, but not sure what yet.

Oro Mensah (with Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) defeated Ashante “Thee” Adonis

Would seem like Mensah is finally getting a good push with the win here against someone from the main roster. Much like the previous match on this show, the heel gets a lot of the offense early on. Adonis’ downfall was his flirtation with Jackson. Adonis flirts with Jackson at times, and it usually cost him.

Mensah would get some flashy offense, but get cut off by Adonis. Eventually, Mensah rallies and sets up for a finisher. Mensah delivers a spinning wheel kick, and Mensah covers Adonis for a three count.

The match got over Mensah much better than the promo he cut afterwards. Mensah cuts a promo on NXT Champion Ethan Page. Mensah tries to lead a “1-2-3” chant with mixed results.

In a silly skit, Wren Sinclair continues to blackmail Charlie Dempsey, much to the amusement of Tony D’Angelo. Sinclair is apparently a witness to a murder, and everyone seems so unbothered by it all. I have seen bad sitcoms with better stories than this. Sinclair has a match that is up next, and Sinclair tells Dempsey she better win as the blackmail continues.

Wren Sinclair (with No Quarter Catch Crew) defeated Carlee Bright

Sinclair pinned Bright after interference by Demspey. Sinclair had rolled up Bright, and Dempsey reaches in from outside the ring puts his weight on Sinclair. That ensured she got the three count on Bright. The highlight of the match was a spot where Kendall Gray suplexes Myles Borne at ringside. Tony D and The Family were watching from a perch overlooking the ring.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger talk backstage about how to get booked on the Great American Bash specials.

Ridge Holland surprises Andre Chase and the Chase U bunch with new black t-shirts, which was a good way to plug the new merch.

Thea Hail sits down for a pre-taped interview with Kelly Kincaid. Hail talks about how much she had grown since her last title shot. Hail goes on to say Ridge Holland empowers her. Hail also says she wants to win the women’s title for Chase U as much as for herself. Hail says she is focuses on winning the title.

Trick Williams defeated Cedric Alexander

Williams pinned Alexander after a flying knee. Pete Dunne attacked Trick after the match.

The match itself goes through a commercial break. Trick takes a bump on the apron, and he is selling as the show cuts to the break. When the show returns, Trick is trying to rally. Trick comes back, and they go on to trade near falls.

As they go home, Trick kicks out after taking a brainbuster. Alexander tries for an armbar, but Williams escapes. Trick then measures for his finisher, and Trick levels Alexander with the flying knee. Trick then scores the pinfall.

Dunne ambushes Trick after the match is over. Dunne stomps on Trick, and Dunne yells at Trick that he was not figured it out yet. Dunne leaves Trick laid face down, and Dunne stands over him.

Robert Stone and Stevie Turner are arguing again over who is in charge. NXT Champion Ethan Page wants to see GM Ava in her office, but he is instead met by Stone and Turner. I think this was supposed to be comedy, but it either went over my head or was too not funny. Maybe both. Likewise, this did little to get anyone over.

Turns out the joke is on me, as my internet service crashed on me. Trying to catch up so bare with me.

Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend defeated Karmen Petrovic & Sol Ruca

They tried to do some cool spots, but this seemed like filler until the promo after the match.

For the finish, Sol Ruca does a moonsault off the apron on Jackson. Meanwhile, Legend levels Petrovic with a punch. Legend then executes her finisher and scores a pinfall on Petrovic.

Legend cuts a promo after the match where she challenges WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre to a title match next week on the Great American Bash special. That match is made official for next Tuesday on Syfy.

Trick Williams is in gorilla telling Shawn Michaels he is gunning for Pete Dunne. Trick leaves, and in comes NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez to complain about Thea Hail getting a sit-down interview. What about me, what about Raven? Meanwhile, HBK is just trying to direct the show. Bless his heart.

Joe Hendry is the focus of a video package. Hendry also announces next week is one of his “world famous” concerts on NXT.

Gallus is leaving the building when they are stopped for a TMZ-style interview. Mark Coffey tries to challenge Joe Hendry to a match next week, but then he is shown a flyer for the concert next Tuesday. Coffey and the rest of Gallus freak out when they find a bunch of flyers on their car. I guess they have never papered a town.

NXT Champion Ethan Page practically drags a referee to the ring. Earlier in a skit, Page grabs the ref because the ref tells Page that Mensah did not legally pin him. So, Page brings the ref to the ring to say it publicly. The ref says on the house mic that Mensah pinning Page did not count because an official did not make count the pin.

Oro Mensah suddenly runs in, and he catches Page with a schoolboy roll-up. The ref counts three, and Page is beside himself afterwards. The live studio audience chanted “1-2-3”, so Mensah planting that seed earlier on worked here.

Tony D’Angelo in a skit announces that he is granting Tavion Heights a Heritage Cup match next week, in honor of Heights being a former Olympian.

The Rascalz (Trey Miguel, Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz) defeated Axiom, Je’Von Evans & Nathan Frazer

Lots of high flying and fast-paced action in this bout, as you might imagine on paper. Rascalz do some cool tandem and triple-team moves.

Evans got to shine during the match, and he does a dive to the outside. Wentz matches him with a dive of his own, just as the show cuts to its final commercial break. The pace slowed a bit as the show returns, only for the pace to soon quicken again. Feverish pace down the stretch with a lot of cool spots. Too much to write down move-for-move, but it was good. The studio audience was hot for this.

Frazier & Axiom execute their tandem finisher, where Axiom does a one-man Spanish fly followed by a Phoenix Splash by Frazier. The subsequent cover is broken up. Parade of high spots by The Rascalz in the closing moments. Axiom is their prey and they bounce on him with a flurry of offense. Wentz does a standing shooting star, and he gets an assist from Lee, and lands on Axiom. A three count later, and The Rascalz win. It is still so surreal to see TNA talent getting such a push on WWE television.

Closing the show is another lame skit. NXT Champion Ethan Page finally meets with GM Ava. That leads Ava booking a NXT title match for night two of The Great American Bash with Page defending against Oro Mensah. On night one (next Tuesday on Syfy), they will have a contract signing.

WWE NXT live results: The Rascalz reunite

With the working relationship that now exists between WWE and TNA Wrestling, The Rascalz are set to reunite as a trio on NXT.

Wes Lee, Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz will team up as they take on Gallus in tonight’s opening match. The match was made after Miguel & Wentz showed up on NXT last week, cheering up a dejected Lee following his loss to Oba Femi at Heatwave. Gallus confronted The Rascalz later in the night and said they don’t want them — or anyone else from TNA — in NXT.

Femi has a North American Championship defense scheduled for tonight. Duke Hudson is challenging him for the title.

We’ll hear from NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez after retaining against Lola Vice at Heatwave.

Plus, Je’Von Evans is out for payback against Brooks Jensen, The O.C. take on OTM in a six-person tag match, and Tatum Paxley faces off with Izzi Dame.

A trios match is opening the show, and The Rascalz are back together.

The Rascalz (Wes Lee, Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang in a six man tag team match

What an opener! Great start to the show. Joe Hendry makes a surprise appearance for guest commentary. Rascalz looked like superstars.

Hot start in the six-man tag, and the pace only picked up from there. The live studio audience was loud as they chanted and cheered for The Rascalz. The live crowd especially loved Wes Lee when he tagged in. Everybody got involved in a parade of spots, and everybody is down.

Vic Joseph on commentary name drops Joe Hendry, alluding that he was watching. Speak his name and he appears. Out comes Joe Hendry as he walks to ring with his theme music blaring over the house speakers. The show cuts to a commercial break as Hendry is walking around ringside. When the show returns from the break, Hendry is at the announce desk for guest commentary. Booker T is less than thrilled with Hendry’s arrival. Book in character may not believe in Joe Hendry.

Heat on Lee until he creates separation. Hot tag and in comes Wentz to shine. He got over well hear, and Booker noted his talent on commentary. Miguel with a twisting and modified fisherman’s buster-type move. It was wicked, and it netted a near fall.

Rascalz all three lock arms for a what I can only describe as a fooseball player 360. Great spot. They then explode into a flurry of offense, and the Rascalz clear the ring. Gallus powders, but Rascalz go after them with dives. Studio audience chants “N-X-T-N-A”.

For the finish, Wentz and Miguel hold Mark Coffey in a double Body Breaker while Lee leapt off the top rope with a double foot stomp on Coffey. Lee then covers Coffey for a pinfall. Rascalz win in their reunion match. Great opener.

After the match, a video package narrated by Hendry showed how he and Trick Williams became a tag team, and how well they wrestled in a tag bout last week on NXT.

Lots of talking segment in a row after the opening bout.

Kelly Kincaid was about to interview Chase U when she says Roxanne Perez is next. Thea Hail hears that and says she has to go as she leaves in a hurry. Andre Chase and Riley Osborne cut promos saying Duke Hudson will win tonight against Oba Femi in a North American title match.

When the show returns from a commercial break, NXT Champion Ethan Page is in the office of NXT General Manager Ava. Page has some complaints as champion. Oro Mensah barges in and Page cuts a promo on him. Mensah challenges to a match. Page balks and says he will not reward bad behavior. Page keeps running his mouth, and Ava tells him to defend his title tonight. Page blurts out the name of Dante Chen, and a NXT title match is booked for later.

Vic Joseph and Booker announce a two-week special using the Great American Bash moniker. The Bash specials air on Syfy for the dates of July 30 and and August 6. Though not noted in the announcement, WWE programming is preempted those weeks on USA Network for coverage of the Olympics.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is in the ring for a monologue. She is still upset over not being treated properly for the champion she is, and she defeated the biggest baddest last week.Yet, Perez did not get her flowers. Instead, Lola Vice gets a standing ovation despite losing the match. Perez is mad the standing ovation was not for herself. Perez names drops Charlotte Flair as a past NXT champion, but Perez says she will herself shatter of of the records.

Perez turns her tirade to the internet and the buzz over Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Perez then calls into question Thea Hail being her next challenger. Out comes Hail to confront Perez.

Hail cuts a pretty good promo on Perez. Give Hail the pen, and she will write her name in the history books as the youngest NXT Women’s Champion. Perez insists she is not overlooking Hail, but that Hail is not ready. Hail is not a grown women, Perez says she is a little girl. That snide remark ignites a brawl. Going down to the mat, the grapple for position and submissions. Hail gets her arm bar locked in, and Ridge Holland has to pry her off Perez.

NXT North American Women’s Champion Keloni Jordan in a backstage interview also name drops Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer. Wendy Choo then comes in to creep out Jordan.

Je’Von Evans defeated Brooks Jensen (with Josh Briggs)

Evans pinned Jensen to win the match. The trend of good matches continues on this show, but this match was much different than the opener. Different in a good way. This match had more time to breath, and the bouts goes through a commercial break. Shawn Spears walks down to ringside just before the finish. It was a minor distraction, but it inadvertently cost Jensen the match.

Jensen got to look strong despite losing, and got heat on Evans. Jensen targeted the ribs, including spots where he sandwiched Evans on the announce desk In one spot, Jensen leaps off the apron to sandwich Evans on the desk.

Spears appears at ringside, and Briggs goes to confront him. Jensen gets between them, and Jensen gets Briggs to back away from Spears. However, that all distracted Jensen from Evans, who does a dive over the ropes on Jensen. Double springboard by Evans into a flying Diamond Cutter. Evans then covers Jensen for a three count.

Jensen jumps Evans after the match, and Jensen is stomping on Evans when Briggs jumps in to make a save. Briggs pulls Jensen off Evans, and Briggs shoves Jensen. Briggs screams at Jensen, since Briggs has vouched for him. Briggs screams at Jensen that Briggs job is on the line.

In a backstage skit, The Family is playing poker when Charlie Dempsey comes to Tony D’Angelo for advice. Dempsey implies to wants to put a hit on a woman, but “The Don” says Dempsey has to handle that himself.

Dante Chen is interviewed and he cuts a promo ahead of his title challenge that is up next.

NXT Champion Ethan Page defeated Dante Chen to retain the title

Another good match on this show, as that trend continues. Nothing off the charts, but solid. Chen got some offense as the underdog, but he eventually dropped the fall to the champ. Chen got a final flurry in the closing moments. Near fall for Chen, but he is soon cut off by Page. Ego’s Edge (Razor’s Edge) by Page, and Page covers Chen for a pinfall.

After the match is over, Oro Mensah runs in for to attack Page. Despite the sneak attack, Page is able to easily fight out Mensah. Page leaves him laying and Page literally wipes his feet of Mensah, or so he thought. Page is leaving when Mensah comes back to brawl with Page. They fight around ringside and back into the ring. Memsah runs wild on Page, and Mensah gets a visible pinfall on Page. The studio audience counts to three, and this look to set a title match with Mensah challenging Page for the NXT title.

Duke Huson is the focus of a video package that hypes him up ahead of Hudson challenging tonight for the North American title.

Gallus is complaining to each other about their match earlier tonight when Joe Coffey speaks the name of Joe Hendry. So, Joe Hendry appears. Hendry says he is sticking around in NXT. This upset Coffey and company in what I assume was supposed to be a humorous segment. As a middle-aged man, I admittedly do not totally understand the comedy here, but Hendry has a lot of charisma.

Tatum Paxley defeated Izzi Dame

Paxley wins via pinfall with her wicked finisher called “The Psycho Trap.” Wendy Choo does her zombie walk down to ringside during the match. Her and Paxley have some sort of gothic partnership of sorts. After the match, Choo has a headless Barbie doll. Paxley has the head for the doll, and she puts the head on the doll. Choo then leaves as Paxley laughs maniacally.

Lola Vice defeated Jacy Jayne (with Jazmyn Nyz)

Vice wins a pinfall, but more importantly, a trios match is set up for the near future.

Jayne mocks Vice at one point earlier on, and Vice comes back with fire. Jayne cuts off Vice and applies some joint locks. Vice comeback with a series of kicks and a hip attack. A moment later, Vice ducks a clothesline and delivers a spinning back fist. Jayne drops like a stone, and Vice covers her for a pinfall.

Fallon Henley runs in to jump Vice after the match. Jayne and Nyz join in as the stomp on Vice. Running down to make a save is Karmen Petrovic and Sol Ruca. This angle would seem to set up a six-woman tag team match.

NXT Champion Ethan Page is stopped as he is leaving the interview for a TMZ-style interview. Page cuts a promo on Mensah before leaving through an exit.

The O.C. (Michin, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) defeated OTM (Jaida Parker, Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) in a six-person mixed tag team match

The six-person bout starts with a melee. Big brawl at the beginning, and when the smoke clears there is Michin and Parker in the ring. They run through some spots and such. Good stuff, and then comes the hoss fight portion of the match.

Gallows is running wild on Price, until Price responds with hiss moves of his own. In comes Nima, who is wearing a nose guard. Heat on Gallows, until a hot tag to Michin. She runs wild on Parker for several near falls.

Anderson squares off with Nima. Quick tags by The Good Brothers. Parker comes in to hip check Anderson, which brings in Michin to strike at Parker. Michin also executes her finisher on Nima. Michin then dives through the ropes on Parker. Back in the ring, Good Brothers deliver a Magic Killer, and Anderson scores the deciding pinfall.

In a skit, Wren Sinclair wants to be a part of No Quarter Catch Crew. She apparently has dirt on Dempsey, which the storyline murder of Damon Kemp. Though the material here was wacky, Sinclair saves the skit as she tries to shoot on Myles Borne. She was funny.

Eddy Thorpe and Lexis King are shown in a pre-taped angle. King picks a fight with Thorpe while Thorpe is DJ’ing a party. This leads to match next Tuesday on NXT.

Also announced for next Tuesday for a singles match with Oro Mensah against Ashante Adonis. This match was set up with a skit where Adonis was hitting on Jakara Jackson, and Mensah took exception to that.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Duke Hudson (with Andre Chase, Thea Hail, Riley Osborne & Ridge Holland) to retain the title

Femi pinned Hudson clean to win the match and retain the championship. Femi shows his power and strength early on, and Hudson has to regroup. Hudson takes off his Chase U tank, and it gives him power like Jerry Lawler pulling down the strap.

Hudson runs in with a hurricanrana. Femi is reeling as he is on heels as the show cuts to its final commercial break. Femi turns the tide back in his favor during the break, and Femi has Hudson grounded when the show returns.

Femi strikes with two back-to-back backbreakers, but Hudson somehow kicks out. Hudson goes on to fight back when he cuts off Femi with a big boot. Comeback by Hudson, and he delivers a series of punches along with the flip, flop and fly. Meanwhile, his pals in Chase U are going crazy at ringside.

After a plancha, Hudson follows up with by slingshotting into German suplex. They fight on the turnbuckles teasing a superplex. Hudson is shoved off, but he responds by catching Femi with a flying head scissors. A final near fall for Hudson, as he counters Femi into a crucifix. Femi kicks out and gives Hudson a chokeslam. Hudson kicks out as they trade near falls.

They fight on the ropes, and Hudson does a sunset slip into an avalanche power bomb on Femi. A final near fall for Hudson, but Femi gets a shoulder up. The fight spills outside the ring, where Femi gives Hudson a side slam on the announce desk. Femi then does a pop-up powerbomb, and he covers Hudson for a pinfall. Femi retain his title. He poses with the belt.

Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs are arguing as they are leaving the building. Jensen says they need to settle things with a singles match next week. Briggs caution Jensen that beat him up pretty bad last time, and Briggs does want to do that again. Jensen remarks they should have a no disqualification match. Jensen then gets into the passenger seat of a SUV with an unknown driver at the wheel. They sped off as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: The fallout from Heatwave

The fallout from Heatwave — plus a potential appearance by a TNA star — are set for WWE NXT tonight.

Ethan Page became the new NXT Champion at Heatwave, winning a fatal four-way match by pinning Je’Von Evans. We’ll get Page’s first appearance as champion tonight, and Trick Williams will likely have something to say after he lost his title without being involved in the decision.

Heatwave ended with a tease that TNA’s Joe Hendry will be showing back up in NXT. Another Hendry tease then appeared in a commercial for tonight’s show. We’ll see if Hendry makes his presence felt.

Wes Lee is set to address his future after coming up short against NXT North American Champion Oba Femi at Heatwave. In the Women’s North American title match on Sunday, Sol Ruca impressed but lost to Kelani Jordan. Ruca takes on Fallon Henley tonight.

There will be a Heritage Cup title match with Tony D’Angelo defending against Lexis King. Karmen Petrovic vs. Arianna Grace, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. OTM, and Gallus vs. Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe have also been announced.

Plus, Brooks Jensen sits down with NXT General Manager Ava to discuss his status.

NXT began with a highlight package of Sunday’s Heatwave event, ending with another glimpse of Joe Hendry. Vic Joseph & Booker T were on the call.

NXT Champion Ethan Page’s Gloating Session

I hate promo trains so much, and this was no exception. Page was as generic as he could be in his opening to the show, and nothing was accomplished here.

The new NXT Champion Ethan Page came to the ring, flanked by security. Vic Joseph noted that Page broke Kevin Owens’ record for the fastest man to win the NXT Title. Page gloated about his win, noting that everyone probably hated him for how quickly he got to the top. Oro Mensah tried to get to Page, but Page’s security team carried him away. Page promised to make sure no outsider took the NXT Title from him. Page said that the Whoop That Era was over, as this was the Era of Ego.

Trick Williams came out. The security must’ve still been busy with Mensah. Williams cut straight to the point, wanting his rematch for the title tonight. Page joked about falling into the title before turning Williams down. Shawn Spears came out, asking Page for a thank you as he held Williams back from breaking up Page’s incidental cover. Spears then asked Williams who the “goofy ass” was now, since he lost his title without being pinned. Je’Von Evans came out, telling Page and Spears to shut the hell up. A fight broke out, and the Canadians bailed.

We got a recap of Karmen Petrovic & Arianna Grace’s win from the Countdown to Heatwave show, followed by their subsequent break-up and the set-up for their match against each other tonight.

We got Twitter/X promos from Lexis King & Tony D’Angelo, setting up their Heritage Cup match tonight.

Arianna Grace defeated Karmen Petrovic

Grace was already in the ring as Petrovic made her way out. Grace knocked Petrovic down while calling herself the MVP before Petrovic tagged her with a slap. Petrovic hit some middle kicks for a nearfall as Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx made their way to ringside. Page & Spears vs. Williams & Evans was announced for the main event as Grace hit a knee lift for a nearfall.

Booker said something about “Canadianites” as the two went back and forth. Petrovic hit a leg sweep before hitting a tornado kick for the win. After the match, Fallon Henley jumped Petrovic before telling Jayne and Nyx she was tired of these rookies. It should be noted that Jazmyn Nyx is also a rookie.

Brooks Jensen was meeting with Ava in her office. Jensen apologized for his actions as of late and talked about how much pressure he felt being a second-generation star. Ava said that she and Shawn Michaels were ready to release him after his recent actions. But after several people vouched for him, they would give him a second chance. She made it clear that Jensen had to behave himself, as he was a WWE Superstar at all times.

(I guess the intrigue is in who vouched for him and if Jensen stays in line. I don’t know how a Last Call Scott Hall-esque character will get Jensen over any more than he was, but that’s for them to worry about.)

WWE NXT Heritage Cup Title Match – Tony D’Angelo (c) (w/ The D’Angelo Family) defeated Lexis King 2-1

(The match was what it was, as Lexis King is an absolute zero. The mid-match DJ is the kind of preposterous silliness that makes NXT what it is, for better and for worse. Mostly for the worse.)

Both men were in the ring as we came back from the ad break. I think King shaved his beard to look even dumber. Eddy Thorpe was DJ’ing on the crow’s nest during this championship match. I don’t remember DJ Ran doing that on Monday Nitro back in the day, but my memory may be failing me.

The first round was uneventful, with the most notable thing being the strap on D’Angelo’s shirt popping. King got caught in a Boston Crab but got saved by the bell. Thorpe played a set in between rounds, annoying King. King distracted himself with Thorpe as the second round started, allowing D’Angelo to score a fall with the Fisherman Buster. Most of the third round was in the commercial break, but King hit the Coronation to score a fall with ten seconds left in the round.

The fourth round started with King stomping on D’Angelo before running into a lariat. D’Angelo fired up, hitting a pair of belly-to-belly suplexes. D’Angelo teased a second rope belly-to-belly, but King knocked him down and hit a diving DDT for a nearfall. They countered each other’s finishers, leading to D’Angelo hitting a main event spinebuster for the second fall and the win.

We cut to Brooks Jensen jumping Je’Von Evans in the back. Josh Briggs pulled him off of Evans and yelled at him, as Briggs was the one to vouch for him. Jensen said he was trying to make an impact, and Briggs shoved him away.

(I guess Ava’s stirring pep talk didn’t work.)

Chase U was backstage. Ridge Holland walked in and said that Thea Hail was ready for an NXT Women’s Title match, so he got Hail her match tonight to prove it to Ava. Holland also got Duke Hudson a North American Title match next week against Oba Femi. Hudson was less than pleased.

(I don’t know what the angle is here with Holland in Chase U, nor do I care.)

Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (w/ Joe Coffey) defeated Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont

Igwe & Dupont jumped Gallus during their entrance, continuing the brawls they’ve been having the past few weeks. Igwe & Dupunt double-teamed Coffey in the ring, not even allowing him to get his ring jacket off. Coffey hit a dropkick and tagged Wolfgang, getting the advantage with a backslide into a knee drop.

Vic Joseph noted that Je’von Evans was out of the main event, and that Trick Williams would need to find a new partner. Why they couldn’t announce this after the match so I could pay attention, I don’t know. Coffey low-bridged either Igwe or Dupont – I don’t know which one is which, and the announcers never said – allowing Gallus to hit the Nadger’s Badgers for the win. That’s not the actual name of their finisher, but I heard a Scottish person say that phrase once and it made me laugh. I have to get through these Gallus matches somehow.

The partnerless Trick Williams was backstage with Kelly Kincaid. Williams said that going at it alone in the main event wasn’t a good idea – you don’t say – so he’ll look for a partner. If it wasn’t clear enough what was going to happen, Joe Hendry flashed on the screen behind Kincaid as she wrapped the interview.

Wes Lee Town Hall

Wes Lee came to the ring. Lee gave Oba Femi respect for beating him on Sunday before talking about how picturing the North American title in his hands got him through rehab. Lee said that the loss on Sunday hit him differently. Lee teased retirement when the MSK music hit. Out came Lee’s old partners, TNA’s Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel.

Wentz and Miguel hyped Lee up, calling him the best North American Champion of all time. Wentz offered to reunite MSK and bring the Rascalz to NXT. They all hugged to end the segment.

(This was a cool surprise. Getting Lee back together with the Rascalz is a nice diversion for him, although I think he’s well overdue a shot to run on top in NXT.)

Ethan Page & Shawn Spears were warming up when Sarah Schreiber asked about the main event. They both laughed and assumed that the match would be a handicap match.

Thea Hail (w/ Chase U) defeated Izzi Dame

(Can we get a match on this show without a really dumb interference spot? Whatever happened to someone just walking to ringside?)

Dame caught Hail on a wheelbarrow and ran her into the turnbuckles to take control. Dame hit a backbreaker before locking on a Chono-esque STF. Tatum Paxley popped out from the crowd. Dame beat her ass until Paxley ducked a charge into the post. Hail fired up with a dive and a high cross. Hail got something resembling a double wristlock on to get the win.

After the match, Oba Femi spoke to Duke Hudson from the crow’s nest. Femi promised destruction to Hudson. Hudson told Femi not to underestimate him, as he caught Trish Stratus’ attention with his performance at Heatwave. Hudson promised the biggest Chase U ass-whooping next week. The fans seemed unconvinced.

The Rascalz were backstage when Gallus walked up. Gallus says that they don’t want them here, and that goes for the rest of the TNA roster, especially that funny Scottish guy.

OTM barked at Gallows and Anderson as they walked to the ring.

Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs were in Ava’s office as she chewed out Jensen. Ava told Jensen that if Je’Von Evans was cleared for next week, they would have a match. Briggs wanted to be in his corner, but Jensen said he’d go alone. Briggs then asked Ava for a match against Shawn Spears, as he put Briggs out of action for a month. Ava agreed, but only if Briggs didn’t get involved in the main event. Wait a minute, isn’t Trick looking for a partner? Why can’t Briggs get involved? Stevie Turner asked that very question, with Mr. Stone making another Joe Hendry joke.

(Jensen’s punishment for wrecking the main event mere minutes after getting reinstated is…continuing to do his job. I tell you what, I wish I had a boss like Ava.)

Out The Mud (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) (w/ Jaida Parker) defeated The OC (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)

Nima held Gallows up in a stalling vertical suplex, marking the biggest bump Gallows has taken in a decade. The Good Brothers brought Nima to their corner, but Nima carried Anderson to the OTM corner to get the tag out. Price dropped Anderson with a big main event spinebuster.

OTM worked over Anderson until he made his way to the corner for a tag. Gallows ran wild as Michin came out from the crowd to go after Parker. They chased each other to the back as OTM isolated Anderson. They hit a double-team main event spinebuster for the win.

Sol Ruca was backstage, watching a Fallon Henley promo from after Heatwave. Ruca said that you either put in the work, or you just bitch. Ruca put the work in, and it was clear what path Henley chose.

No Quarter Catch Crew was in the parking lot, sticking someone in a trunk. We got another deaf joke with Myles Borne before Wren Sinclair saw them in the parking lot. She claimed not to see anything, and they drove off.

(This was Damon Kemp’s write-off, as he announced his departure from the company on social media. I don’t understand why Charlie Dempsey is trying to be Tony D’Angelo.)

Sol Ruca defeated Fallon Henley by disqualification

(Anyone comparing Sol Ruca to Ricochet or Will Ospreay may want to check this match out and pump the brakes. Ruca has potential, but she’s still got a lot of work to do. Another heatless match on this NXT show.)

Ruca got a nearfall with an X-Factor before Henley cut off a handstand with a kick to the gut. Henley worked over the arm before hitting a House Call for a nearfall. That reminds me of when a guy like Billy Gunn would do the Jackhammer. Ruca made a one-armed comeback before Henley cut off a springboard. Ruca hit a stunner and nipped up into a dropkick. They got mixed up on a few spots before Ruca hit the Sol Snatcher. Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx ran in for the DQ, leaving with Henley as Ruca was left lying.

NXT Anonymous saw Tatum Paxley shouting at a Barbie doll, pretending it was Izzi Dame. Paxley pulled its head off and left before Wendy Choo picked it up.

(An impossibly dumb segment with two impossibly dumb characters. By the way, to what end does NXT Anonymous serve? They shoot every other backstage segment on this show like the camera isn’t there. Why do these bits get special framing?)

Backstage, Cedric Alexander was with Ava and Stevie Turner. Ava told Mr. Stone that Turner set up the meeting, and that Alexander was in NXT now. Stone gave someone on the phone directions to the office, where Ashonte Thee Adonis walked up. They walked into Ava’s office, with Stone slamming the door in Turner’s face.

(You know what I care about? Two non-wrestlers kissing up to a General Manager. That’ll get me tuning in every week. Anyway, it’s good to see Alexander and Adonis on television.)

Ethan Page made his entrance, with Shawn Spears already in the ring. Trick Williams made his entrance. To the shock of everyone, Joe Hendry came out as Williams’ partner.

Trick Williams & Joe Hendry defeated Ethan Page & Shawn Spears

(This referee turns his back because Joe Hendry isn’t holding the tag rope or something. He turned around, and the NXT Champion vanished into thin air. What did he think happened? Anyway, this was a fine main event as the crowd was hot for the “surprise” appearance of Joe Hendry. It is time to get off the pot with this Oro Mensah deal, either book the match or don’t.)

Williams ran wild on the Canadians before tagging in Hendry, who sent both Page and Spears to the floor before Williams dove onto both of them. After an ad break, the Canadians were working over Hendry. Hendry powered Page up for a suplex and got the tag out to Williams. Williams ran wild for a split second until Page caught him with a uranage to cut him off.

The Canadians worked over Williams for a while until the referee got distracted with Hendry. Oro Mensah charged Page and fought him up into the bleachers, giving us the handicap match that Spears was expecting. Hendry sent Spears to the outside into a Trick Shot knee. Hendry then hit a chokeslam on Spears for the win. Hendry and Williams waved their arms in celebration as we went off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Heatwave contract signing

Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT is the go-home show before Heatwave.

At Sunday’s event, Trick Williams will defend his NXT Championship in a fatal four-way match against Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears. They’ll be in the same ring tonight when they take part in a contract signing.

Also tonight is a segment with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez going face-to-face with her challenger, Lola Vice, ahead of their title match at Heatwave.

Heatwave is taking place in Toronto during WWE Money in the Bank weekend. Scotiabank Arena is hosting Money in the Bank on Saturday and Heatwave on Sunday.

To kick off tonight’s action, Michin goes one-on-one with Jaida Parker in a street fight. Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Wendy Choo vs. Carlee Bright, and Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe vs. Gallus have also been announced for the episode.

Opening the show is a street fight to settle a grudge weeks in the making.

Jaida Parker defeated Michin in a street fight

Parker pinned Michin in one helluva street fight. Weapons came into play from the outset. Metal chairs, trash cans, tables and kendo sticks and such are littered around the ring. Michin also used a loaded sock as a weapon, swinging it around as a weapon. She also used her own belt to whip Parker.

Three chairs are set up at ringside, and Michin goes for a tope with Parker laid out on the chairs. Parker moves, and Michin crashes and burns on a chair. “Holy s***” chants are bleeped out on USA Network. Parker then goes for a hip attack. Michin’s turn to move out of the way, and Parker crashes into the barricade in a stunt where the barricade broke. From there the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break as the street fight continues.

More plunder after the break with more weapons coming into play. Parker is fish hooking Michin with a claw hammer as the show returns from commercials. Michin fights, and she piles some chairs together. Michin then dumps nuts and bolts on the chairs, and she teases a package piledriver. Parker counters, and Michin is backdropped on the pile of her own creation. Near fall for Parker, as Michin manages to kick out.

Parker is stuffed into a trash can, and Michin does a cannonball senton into a corner to sandwich Parker for another near fall. Parker sprays Michin with a fire extinguisher, and Parker deliver a hip attack that sends her and Michin crashing through a gimmicked wall. They crash through the wall, and the live studio audience chants “holy s***” again. “N-X-T” chants also ring out.

Parker drags Michin from the rubble and rolls her back into the ring. Parker then runs the ropes and delivers a final hip attack, dubbed the “Hip-notic” by announcer Vic Joseph. Parker then covers Michin for a three count.

A locker room skit seems to set up a match between Karmen Petrovic and Jazmyn Nyz. Petrovic was trying to cheer up a melancholy Arianna Grace, who still manages to insult Petrovic by insisting she is more Canadian than her. In walks Jacy Jayne and Nyz, who mock and bully the Petrovic and Grace. Petrovic steps up and issues a challenge to Nyz. The heels laugh and leave.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a vignette that highlights him and his recent success in NXT. Good piece of character development with this video package.

In another good video package, NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan is featured as part of hype for her defending her title against Sol Ruca on Sunday.

New Catch Republic (Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne) defeated Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Bate pinned Ledger to win the match. No heel-babyface dynamic here in this tag bout, just hard nosed wrestling.

Hank & Tank now have matching gear, but it makes them look like Public Enemy as they are wearing jerseys. Regardless, Hank & Tank continue to improve greatly. They also have really good chemistry together. Their opponents, New Catch Republic, were good as usual.

The tag match goes through a commercial break. Hot tag to Hank, and he cleans house. Hank rips off his jersey like he is Jerry Lawler pulling down the strap. Dunne counters to catch Hank in a triangle. Hank powers out and deadlifts Dunne for a Doomsday Device of sorts, here Tank leaps off the ropes to drop an flying elbow as Hank.

Bate runs wild on after a hot tag, until he goes for a tope con giro. Hank & Tank both catch Bate on an attempted flip dive, and they powerbomb Bate on top of Dunne. Hank & Tank then in unison bounce off the ropes and send Bate and Dunne off the apron.

Dunne is double-teamed, and he kicks out for a close near fall. From there, they go home. Hank jumps off the top rope, and Dunne counters with a kick. Dunne goes on to snap the fingers of Tank, and Dunne runs across the ring and jumps off with a double stomp on Hank. Bate leaps off the top rope with a twisting tornillo senton on Tank. Bate then scores the deciding pinfall.

Shawn Spears is the focus of a vignette, where he vows to win the NXT Championship at Heatwave in the fatal four-way match.

Izzi Dame defeated Brinley Reece (with Malik Blade & Edris Enofe)

Tatum Paxley appears during the match to stalk Dame. Despite being creeped out by Paxley, Dame is still able to look rather dominate over Reece. Dame with a Falcon Arrow before she pinned Reece for a three count. Paxley gets into the ring after the match, being even more creepy. Dame flees, after being creeped out again.

Ridge Holland is asked to stay behind as the rest of Chase U go to Heatwave. Holland was apologetic for having tried to cheat in a recent match, but Andre Chase still decries that Holland cannot go with them on Sunday.

Face-to-face with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Lola Vice

While the segment gets off to a rocky start, Vice saves the segment with an emotional promo about her journey to NXT. Roxanne enters the sound stage flanked by two security guards. They stand behind her as Perez addresses Vice.

Perez says that Vice is bigger name in just a few months of her being pushed on NXT than Vice was in Bellator. However, Perez says Vice is in a wrestling match on Sunday. That is Perez’s world.

Vice responds with basically her life story in combat sports. Through tears, Vice tells of how she trained for the Olympics. But Vice’s mom got sick, so Vice at 18 years old went into MMA to provide for her family. By 21, she was fighting in Madison Square Garden. Vice says her mom will be watching on Sunday, and Vice vows to win.

Perez mocks Vice, and Perez makes fun of her. Vice fights through more tears as she vows to show Perez why she is the greatest to crossover from MMA to WWE. Vice vows to become the first ever Cuban-American NXT Women’s champion.

Security goes to step between Vice and Perez, and Vice drops a security dude with spinning back fist. Vice then tells Perez that Vice might not be in her world. But when Vice knocks out Perez on Sunday, Perez will not know what world she is living in.

Ethan Page is the focus of a video packing, further hyping the main event of Heatwave.

Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) defeated Myles Borne (with Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights & Damon Kemp)

Mensah pinned Borne, thanks in part in an inadvertent distraction caused by Damon Kemp. Before the match in a backstage skit, Kemp shows the group he was a pair of brass knux. Dempsey and company are not impressed. They are even less impressed after the finish.

The match itself goes through a commercial break, and the match was pretty good. Borne got to showcase his talents in the ring more so than ever before on NXT. He has an outstanding dropkick, and they were sure to highlight that with a spot in the match. Going through a commercial break, the match was quite lengthy.

For the finish, Kemp is trying to give the brass knux to Borne. That distracts Borne, and he is sitting duck for a Koppu kick from Mensah. Borne is then pinned by Mensah for a three count.

A hype video builds up the the North American title match on Sunday with Oba Femi defending against Wes Lee.

Like an old episode of TNA Impact, it’s TO THE BACK! Suddenly, there is a pull-apart brawl backstage between Gallus and the team of Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe. That would seem to set up a tag match.

Brinley Reece is usually super cheerful and positive, but she is finally broken. Sad about her match, she leaves to go work out as Blade & Enofe run after her.

The Good Brothers cut a quick promo threatening OTM.

Wendy Choo defeated Carlee Bright (with Kendal Gray)

Choo submitted Bright with a choke. Ever since she returned to NXT, Choo is now a zombie. In some ways she is basically doing The Undertaker gimmick, without the Western vibe of Undertaker. Choo is now a zombie after waking up from her sleep. It is very campy. Nevertheless, this bout is a showcase for Choo. She dominates Bright, and Choo applies a chokehold. Bright taps out, and Choo wins via submission.

Shawn Michaels voices over a video package telling the story of Brooks Jensen. Basically, Jensen is a loose cannon that has spiraled out of control. However, HBK says he believes in second chances. So, Jensen is invited to NXT next Tuesday for a sit-down with General Manager Ava. They will address Jensen’s future.

Jaxmyn Nyz defeated Karmen Petrovic

Nyz pinned Petrovic after a distraction by Jayne. Lame finish considering a match on the show already had a distraction finish.

Petrovic has a cool entrance with a sword. Too bad she lost again. At least Petrovic got to shine in the match. Jayne causes a distraction just before the finish. Pertrovic stomps on Jayne’s hands, but that still distracts Petrovic. Nyz delivers a leg lariat, and she covers Pertrovic for a pinfall.

Later in a skit set in Ava’s office, Petrovic is told she is booked in a tag match against Jayne & Nyz. Arianna Grace is revealed as Petrovic’s tag partner, much to he dismay of Petrovic.

More tension between the NXT Tag Team Champions, as Nathan Frazier is apparently more focused on his WWE Speed match tomorrow than the tag title match at Heatwave. Or at least that is what Axiom seems to think. Frazier insists he will be focused on the tag titles on Sunday.

Contract signing for the fatal four-way NXT Championship mach at Heatwave

Two tables are set up in the ring, with the challengers and champion seated around it. NXT Champion Trick Williams gets an actual entrance on television, why his challengers are already seated at the table when Williams enters.

Like many of these contract signing segments, there is some bickers. First up is Ethan Page bickering with Williams. They cut promos on each other.

Shawn Spears chimes in to cut promo on Williams. Spears tells Williams that his emotion will cost him at Heatwave. Spears insults everyone and finally gets around to insulting Je’Von Evans.

Spears mocks Evans because of his age, and Evans responds by cutting a promo on his own. He also gets some call-and-response from the studio audience. Evans flips the script on Spears as Evans mocks Spears for having not ever won a title in NXT.

Standing up, Spears walks over to Williams asking if he heard that. From there, things turn into a bickering contest on who can bicker the most. This is turning into a talking head segment on a cable news channel. Heaven help us.

Evans stands up to cut a promo. Halfway through his promo, Evans is attacked by Spears. Bedlam ensues and all hell breaks loose. Brawl in the ring as a melee is under way. In a stereo spot, Williams puts Page through a table while Evnas puts Spears through another table.

Williams and Evans are facing off in the ring as the show closes.
