WWE NXT live results: Trick Williams vs. Shawn Spears

The road to Heatwave continues tonight with NXT Champion Trick Williams facing off against a potential upcoming challenger.

Williams vs. Shawn Spears in non-title action is set for tonight’s WWE NXT episode. It comes after last week’s show ended with a brawl that had Williams & Je’Von Evans aligned agains Spears & Ethan Page.

Evans won a battle royal last week to be confirmed as Williams’ Heatwave opponent. But, in the main event of the episode, Evans lost to Page in a singles match. With the way the show ended, it looks like it will be Williams vs. Evans vs. Page vs. Spears in a fatal four-way match for the NXT Championship at Heatwave. All four were left laying with the NXT Championship belt in between them.

Heatwave is taking place on July 7. A Tag Team Turmoil match kicks off tonight’s episode and will determine the Heatwave challengers for NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom & Nathan Frazer.

Frazer is competing tonight in a Heritage Cup trophy match against champion Tony D’Angelo. Plus, Sol Ruca vs. Arianna Grace, Wes Lee vs. Joe Coffey, and Tavion Heights vs. Damon Kemp are set.

Earlier today, NXT GM Ava met with the roster of referees. She wanted them to be on their toes, as she did not want any trouble tonight. Something tells me there will be trouble.

Tag Team Turmoil is opening the show, as the first two teams head to the ring.

New Catch Republic (Dunne & Tyler Bate) defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Bad luck continues for Enofe & Blade, as they lost yet again. They did get to shine at points, but Enofe eventually dropped the fall. Bate pinned Enofe, after the New Catch Republic deliver a double team finisher. Enofe & Blade are eliminated, and out comes Legado del Fantasma to

New Catch Republic defeated Legado del Fantasma (Angel & Berto)

Apollo Crews ran in and tried to interfere. Security was quick to grab him, but the distraction caused Berto to crash and burn. Bate then executed a Tyler Driver ’97 on Berto, and Bate pinned him. Bate & Dunne advance, and Legado del Fantasma are out.

The Good Brothers run down as the next team up.

Bate & Dunne defeated The O.C. (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)

Bate pinned Gallows with a small package, after countering the Magic Killer. Bate jumps off the top rope to break up the finisher, allowing Bate to catch Gallows with an inside cradle. A lot of this bout happens during a split-screen commercial break, which was the only rest we got throughout much of the turmoil.

OTM mock The Good Brothers after the match, which would seem to build towards another match between the two teams.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Ridge Holland, Thea Hail & Riley Osborne) defeated Bate & Dunne to win Tag Team Turmoil

Bate & Dunne fought valiantly from the first team to the last, but they were ultimately beaten by the final team. Chase U probably needed a win, since they have looked like geeks a lot in recent months.

Not long before heading home in the closing moments of the match, Hudson has his fingers snapped by Dunne. Moments later, Chase is on the floor when Bate goes for a plancha. Holland pushes Chase out of the way, and Holland takes the bullet for Chase. After rolling Bate back into the ring, Chase leaps off the top rope with a high cross on Bate. Chase scores a three count, and Chase U wins Tag Team Turmoil.

Ethan Page is seen heading to the ring.

A tribute for Sika takes us into a commercial break.

In another locker room skit, Nathan Frazier is talking with Dante Chen. He offers to be in Frazier’s corner for his title challenge tonight. Frazier says he has not spoken in a few days to Axiom, who co-holds the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside Frazier. Axiom suddenly appears and says he will be in Frazier’s corner, and they seemed to be on the same page again.

Ethan Page is heading to the ring for a monologue. Page is upset that Je’Von Evans is getting the next title shot for the NXT Championship, as Page notes he was never eliminated in the battle royal that Evans won to earn the shot. Page suggests the title match be scrapped, and Page get the shot. Page then invites Ava to the ring.

NXT GM Ava meets with Page in the ring, and she admits that Page has a point. Ava was still taken aback by Page’s ego. Out comes Shawn Spears to interrupt.

Spears also says he has no beef with Page, but Spears does not want Ava to make a rash choice. Spears claims he was the first to of them to beat Evans in a match. Page scoffs at that, and Page notes that Spears was eliminated in the battle royal by Evans. Spears responds that Page could not eliminate him if he tried. Spears also vows to pin Trick Williams tonight. Speak the champ’s name, and he appears.

NXT Champion Trick Williams enters to confront Page and Spears. Trick tells Spears to shut up, and Trick cuts a promo on them both. Spears jumps Trick, and Page joins in the attack. Trick is getting beaten down when Evans runs down to make a save. The babyfaces clean house as security rushes in to break up the melee. This booking would seem to set up a tag match, but it might also lead to a multi-person title match at Heatwave.

Bate & Dunne are talking with Hank & Tank in a backstage skit. Hank & Tank want to challenge the New Catch Republic to a tag match next week, and Bate accepts the challenge.

A silly skit in front Ava’s office door has Stevie Turner and Robert Stone facing off to see which can help Ava more. This was goofy.

Wes Lee defeated Joe Coffey

Lee pinned Coffey after a Cardiac Kick. This looked like a very physical bout at times.

Coffey scared me at one point taking a DDT. Lee floated around in a tilt-a-whirl into a swinging DDT, and Coffey spiked into the mat. He seemed fine, though. The match went on. For the finish, Lee ducked a lariat and executed the Cardiac Kick.

After the match, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi appears on a perch overlooking the ring. Femi cuts a promo on Lee, threatening him ahead of their title bout at Heatwave.

Chase U is backstage chatting about their win when Duke Hudson is delivered a message in an envelope.

Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo (with Luca Crusifino & Stacks) defeated Nathan Frazier (with Axiom) to retain the Cup

First round is won by Frazier, after he cradles D’Angelo for a pinfall just over 40 seconds into the round one.

Second round goes to D’Angelo, who wins via pinfall after a spinebuster.

Third round goes through a commercial break, with no falls. The show comes back and the fourth round is joined in progress. The Don is in control as the show goes to break, but Frazier flying into a comeback as the show returns from commercials.

The pace quickens in round four, and they trade numerous near falls. No falls in the fourth round, as time expires with a double down in the ring.

Fifth round is much like the fourth, with them going back-and-forth. More near falls are traded, and some close two counts as well.

Seconds remain in round five as Frazier climbs the ropes. Frazier launches into a Phoenix Splash as the clock ticks down closer to zero. Frazier hits the move, and goes for a pin. D’Angelo is saved by the bell as time expires.

Sixth and final round saw The Don give Frazier an avalanche belly-to-belly suplex off the ropes. Frazier takes a big bump, and he sells it great. The Don follows up with a spinebuster, and he covers Frazier for the deciding pinfall.

Je’Von Evans wants to be in Trick Williams’ corner tonight, but Williams insists that Evans instead focus on his upcoming title challenge. Williams goes to say he gets nervous having someone in his corner these days. Trick and Je’Von then part on good terms.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Karmen Petrovic in a non-title match

Perez pinned Petrovic after Pop Rocks. Lola Vice provides guest commentary during the match, which hypes up her challenging Perez for the title in the future. This was a showcase match for Perez, even though Petrovic got some offense. Perez has to look strong in the match, so the aftermath would mean more.

Vice confront Perez in the ring after the match is over. Perez is posing with her title belt when Vice tries to get in her face. Perez begs off and then tries a spinning back fist. Vice counters and delivers a back fist of her own. Perez sells big and drops like a stone. Perez is laid out as Vice takes the title belt before leaving the ring.

Meta-Four is gathered together as they Facetime with Noam Dar. Oro Mensah says this group makes me smile, and he proceeds to tell a heartwarming story about being a part of the group. Mensah tells a story of his father, who had over 60% of his body burned in a car accident. As his father recovered from the accident, the family moved to Switzerland. Mensah and his brother had to go into foster care. Mensah never felt like he fit in until joining Meta-Four. Dar is touched by the story, and he thanks Mensah for sharing it.

The Good Brothers jump OTM in a backstage melee. Michin also jumps Jaida Parker. Security rushed in for a pull-apart.

Lola Vice brings the title belt she just stole with her into Ava’s office. Vice drops the belt on Ava’s desk, and Vice wants a title match against Perez at Heatwave.

Tavion Heights defeated Damon Kemp

In winning, Heights earns a spot in No Quarter Catch Crew. Charlie Dempsey and Myle Borne watch from ringside. The match itself was rather short, but it played on Heights looking to deliver his belly-to-belly suplex. Heights delivers one suplex before a final belly-to-belly for the pinfall.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan is interviewed by Kelly Kincaid. Jordan says beating Michin last week boost her confidence. Jordan wants to be a drama-free champion, and she wants to defend against deserving challengers.

Suddenly, Jaida Parker barges in wanting a street fight with Michin next week.

Brinley Reece is trying to cheer up Malik Blade & Edris Enofe. In walks Izzi Dame to say the pep talk is not working. Tatum Paxley is seen creeping in a window, but Dame hits the window and Paxley goes away.

Axiom is trying to console Frazier after his loss earlier on. Axiom wants to study tape for their upcoming tag title match. Frazier says that is a good idea, but he was to get ready for a Speed match tomorrow. So, Frazier leaves to get his back checked out, and Axiom is left to shrug.

Sol Ruca defeated Arianna Grace

Ruca pinned Grace after the Sol Snatcher. Grace does well in playing her character, but the character is so lame these days. The pageant queen gimmick has more than run its course. Likewise, Grace loses in most of her matches. Here, she does the job for Ruca in a showcase for Ruca. Grace did get some offense, but to no avail. Regardless, Ruca looks strong ahead of her upcoming title match against Jordan for the North American title.

Kelani Jordan joins Ruca after the match, and they pose together. That is an odd way to build a title match, but both are babyfaces. They are also shown together later in the show, and they wish each other luck in their title match.

Roxanne Perez barges into Ava’s office, and Perez grabs her title belt. They bicker, and Ava announces that Perez will defend against Vice at Heatwave. That makes that match official.

Jacy Jayne, Jazmyn Nyx, and Fallon Henley complain to each other about Sol Ruca getting a title shot. Jayne remarks that she wants to do something about it. Fallon Henley could be getting over. Instead, she is mixed up in this story.

Shawn Spears defeated NXT Champion Trick Williams in a non-title match

Ethan Page was doing guest commentary, until Oro Mensah confronts Page. They get into a pull-apart brawl at ringside before the show cuts to its final commercial break.

Other shenanigans during the match include another run-in at ringside. Brooks Jensen is still doing the Loose Cannon gimmick like he is Brian Pillman, and he tries to rush the ring. Jensen tries jumping into the ring, but security rushed out to pull him out of the ring. Jensen tosses one guy into the barricade, but he is eventually subdued as security overtakes him. Or is he?

During the chaos at ringside, Jensen takes the top panel cover off the announce desk. Jensen swings it around and smacks Williams in the head with it. Spears tosses Williams back into the ring, and Spears delivers an C4 exploder in a corner. Spears then covers Williams for a three count.

Cut to Ava’s office, where Stevie Turner and Robert Stone are bickering about who is most deserving of a title shot. Ava stops them, and she books a fatal four way for Heatwave with Williams defending against Spears, Page and Evans.

WWE NXT live results: Battle royal for Heatwave title shot

Tonight, we’ll find out the next challenger for NXT Champion Trick Williams.

A battle royal to determine Williams’ opponent for Heatwave will open Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode. There will be 25 entrants in the battle royal — and some of them could be from outside NXT. Cody Rhodes announced the battle royal last week and teased that there may be competitors from “different locker rooms.” That could mean we’ll be seeing some more crossover between WWE and TNA.

Heatwave is taking place in Toronto on Sunday, July 7 during Money in the Bank weekend.

After being crowned the inaugural champion at Battleground, Kelani Jordan makes her first women’s North American Championship defense tonight, facing off against Mia Yim.

We’ll hear from men’s North American Champion Oba Femi for the first time since his impressive showing at Battleground. He defeated Wes Lee and Joe Coffey in a triple threat match at the event.

Roxanne Perez & Lola Vice vs. Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson vs. Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx is also set for tonight. Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Opening the show is the number one contender’s battle royal. The show begins with the entrance of Je’Von Evans, who has his ribs taped up selling an injury from a previous episode. Everyone else is already in the ring, except for two more. One is an inter-promotional surprise.

Out comes Joe Hendry, and he gets a good response. Say his name and he appears, Hendry says as on the house microphone. Instead of a 25-man battle royal, Hendry says it is 24 men and one sensation. Hendrys vows to walk to the ring, eliminate everyone, and bring the championship back to TNA. Hendry ends with his catchphrase where he gets the people to believe in Joe Hendry.

Entering next is Ethan Page, and he is the final entrant. Page and Hendry gets face-to-face and jaw at each other. Suddenly, in rushes Oro Memsah in street clothes. He jumps Page, and they brawl their way out of the ring and up the aisle. From there, the battle royal is underway.

Je’Von Evans wins the 25- Man Battle Royal to become the number one contender for the NXT Championship

Hendry isn’t in there long, as his is quickly tossed out but Frankie Kazarian soon after the bell rings to start. Kazarian is another notable name from TNA in the match, lasting until the final four. Hendry was the first elimination. The live studio audience chanted “bullshit” loudly after Hendry was eliminated, but the chants were censored out on the USA Network.

Kazarian would go on to eliminate two members of the No Quarter Catch Crew. That happened after Dempsey gets eliminated alongside Malik Blade. Damon Kemp inadvertently knocks Dempsey over the ropes along with Blade. Dempsey is mad at Kemp, and so is Myles Borne, who is still in the match. Not for long. Kazarian rushes in and eliminates both Borne and Kemp over the top rope, at the feet of Dempsey no less.

The battle royal goes through a commercial break, cutting to a split-screen after Apollo Crews is eliminated by Angel Garza. His tag partner is eliminated by Lexis King, so Garza gets revenge by eliminate Garza. Tank Ledger then eliminates Garza, and King gloats. Ledger is then given an airplane spin by Tyler Bate, and Ledger is out.

Tony D’Angelo gets his moment to shine. He does some high spots with Nathan Frazier. and Frazier eventually eliminates “The Don” himself. Frazier then dangles with Dragon Lee, who eliminated Frazier. Dragon Lee and Bate work together to eliminate Ridge Holland, who got to shine some early on in the battle royal. Bate and Lee start high fiving and fist bumping when Bate drops Lee with a punch. Bate tangles with Spears, and Spears shoves Bate off the ropes. Bate tumbles to the floor for an elimination.

Final four are Spears, Evans, Dragon Lee, and Kazarian. Spears rolls out of the ring after being superkicked by Lee. Evans reverses an Irish whip, and Kazarian takes a bump over the ropes as he is shot into the corner. That leaves Lee and Evans in the ring, with Spears on the floor.

Great sequence by Evans and Lee in the closing moments. Evans is down in a corner, and Lee is going for his signature offense when he is shoved off the middle turnbuckle by Spears. Evans goes for his springboard cutter, but a springboard would be a terrible mistake in an over the top rope battle royal. Spears sends Evans over the ropes, but Evans hangs on like Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble in 1995. Instead of skinning the cat, Evans kicks at Spears and gets back on the apron. Evans then slingshots in the arms of Spears, who is seemingly going for a finisher. Evans gets free and throws Spears over the ropes. Spears barely holds on. Spears goes for a springboard of his own, and he pays for it. Evans cuts him down with a superkick. Evans bounces off the ropes, and Spears eats a kick. Evans then throws Spears clear over the ropes to the floor. Evans wins the battle royal.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez & Lola Vice defeated Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson and Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx in a triple threat tag team match

Perez pinned Jackson to win the match. Perez & Vice worked well together, while also playing up being an odd couple team. Not sure who are the protagonist here. Currently wasn’t Perez & Vice. Perez nails Vice with a back fist after the match.

The match was a basically a melee from the start, and it remained such. Crash TV so far in the matches, with a lot of action. Very little time to breath. The only breather was a commercial break in the middle of this tag bout. The fast pace continues when the show returns from the break.

Lash Legend runs wild at one point, and she cleans house with high kicks. Power spot with Legend suplexing both Vice and Jayne at the same time. Pele kick by Perez lays out Legend. Jackson tries to avenge for her tag partner, but Jackson instead eats a back fist from Vice. Perez is then tagged in by Vice, and Perez executes Pop Rocks and scores a pinfall.

As they rasing their hands in victory after the match, Perez ambushes Vice. Perez then poses with her title belt.

Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page get into an argument in Ava’s office. That sets up the main event. Good thing they had words with each other. Otherwise, there was apparently no main event beforehand. Thank goodness these two could not get along.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan defeated Michin to retain her title

Jordan pinned Michin after outside interference by Jaida Parker. OTM has a confrontations with The Good Brother before the lame finish. Jordan is the first to win the Women’s North American title, and she wins in her first title defense thanks to outside interference. Is that supposed to be a push?

The Good Brothers are at ringside to support Michin. They catch her on a dive, so that Michin does not crash and burn. Jordan slingshots over the ropes with a twisting plancha, just before the show cuts to a commercial break.

Michin is in control as the show comes back from the break. Comeback by Jordan. They go to trade near falls. Close near fall after Michin takes a posin rana from Jordan. Michin then gets a close near fall.

Out comes OTM for a confrontations with The Good Brothers at ringside, as if this show wasn’t overbooked enough. The referee in the ring is somehow distracted by the showdown at ringside. He is yelling at them while Jaida Parker rushes in on the other side the ring. Parker shoves Michin off the top rope. We have seen a lot of spots so far tonight where someone is shoved off the ropes. It is more common than a wrist lock.

Michin takes a bump in the ring after Parker shoves her off the top rope. Jordan then capitalizes with a split-legged moonsault, and Parker covers Michin for a three count. So, Jordan retained thanks to outside interference. What a novel way to have a the first Women’s North American Champion win in her very first title defense.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Ethan Page. He cuts a promo with on several things, but most importantly he cuts a promo on Oro Mensah. Page claims he was never eliminated from the battle royal, which is true. He blames Mensah. Also true.

Izzi Dame is the focus of a video package that highlights her background as a volleyball player. She dubs herself Izzi “The Great” Dame.

Playing off a spot in the battle royal, Nathan Frazier accepts a challenge for a Heritage Cup title match against Tony D’Angelo. Luca Crusifino interrupts the NXT Tag Team Champions — Nathan Frazier & Axiom — as they are talking in the locker room. Crusifino says Tony D has a contract drawn up for a Cup match, and Frazier signs it no question asked. That upsets Axiom.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi comes to the ring for a monologue. Femi waxes about retaining the title at Battleground, and Femi wonders if anyone can beat him.

Out comes Wes Lee to confront Femi. Something happened in the crowd as this is taking place. It appears shoot security rushed in to tackle someone. The live studio audience was distracted, as was myself.

Meanwhile, Lee is detailing his focused obsession with regaining the North American title. Femi tells Lee he is going in circles, and Femi is done. Femi walks past Lee to leave, and Lee screams at Femi to not turn his back on him.

Lee notes Femi has everything going for him, and everywhere he goes Femi is treated as the greatest North American champ. Lee says deep down that Femi knows what Lee is to that title, unless Femi does something about it. I guess that is a challenge of sorts.

Lee cautions Femi that he is facing a different “Cardiac Kid” than before, and Lee vows to prove his name is the record books, not Femi’s name. Femi responds by talking about wanting to change those record books. Femi accepts a challenge for a title match, with the added stipulation this is Lee’s last shot at the title.

Hank Walker tells Tank Ledger he is medically cleared from a shoulder injury. Hank & Tank want to get back on track, so they want to challenge the New Catch Republic for their return bout as a team.

Charlie Dempsey sits down with Tavion Heights, as Dempsey tries to recruit Heights. Dempsey was wacky and he asked Height questions and answered those same questions himself. This skit sets up Damon Kemp against Heights in a tryout match of sorts.

Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe brawl with Gallus in an anonymous cellphone video.

Fallon Henley defeated Carlee Bright (with Kendall Grey)

Henley pinned Bright after a shining wizard. Grey was in Bright’s corner, leading to Wendy Choo appearing at ringside. Choo puts Grey to sleep with a cobra clutch at ringside. Meanwhile, Henley delivers a suplex to set up her finisher. Henley signals for and executes the shining wizard, and she pins Bright.

Eddy Thorpe is stopped in the parking lot for an interview, and he basically wants a title shot at any title.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Thea Hail & Ridge Holland) defeated The O.C. (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson with Michin)

Hudson rolled up Anderson for a pinfall.

The highlight of the match was Trick Williams texting Vic Joseph that Trick will be on guest commentary for the main event tonight. The show was plodding along at this point, and it keeps plodding through this tag bout.

Hot tag to Hudson, and he cleans house. Hudson had some silly offense. Chase does a somersault senton off the apron on Gallows. In the ring, Hudson counters Anderson with a school boy roll-up. Hudson scores the three count, giving Chase U the “W” on this episode. Vic Joseph on commentary that played up Chase U winning as being an upset.

In a comedic skit, Arianna Grace thinks Kelani Jordan wants Grace to be her next challenger. Grace is corrected that Sol Ruca is the next challenger, and Grace pitches a light fit. Robert Stone suggests Ruca against Grace next week to determine the next challenger. Ava agrees and books the match for next Tuesday.

NXT Champion Trick Williams enters the sound stage looking like a superstar. He is posing in the ring before the show goes into a commercial break.

More tension within Chase U after a backstage skit. More silliness. It is long in the tooth at this point.

Fallon Henley is mad in the locker room. Enter Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyz. They all agree they are sick of the way things are done here. In fairness to them, I did not like the booking on this episode either.

Ethan Page defeated Je’Von Evans

Page pinned Evans after the “Ego’s Edge” finisher. Evans again had his ribs taped up, much like he did earlier in the show. The injury would also play a factor in the match. They did spots based on the rib injury, and Evans later turns the tables on Page by targeting Page’s ribs.

Evans sells a lot and it a babyface in peril. Page countered Evans’ cutter finisher the Harley Race way — he moved. Evans later with a rally and comeback in the closing minutes. He even does a springboard crossbody for a near fall.

Evans is going to the top rope when Page cuts him off. Page executes his Ego’s Edge finisher, and Page covers Evans for a pinfall. The announcers play up Page pinning the number one contender.

Page confronts Trick Williams at ringside. In the meantime, Shawn Spears runs down to attack Evans. Trick hits the ring to make a save, but Trick is ambushed from behind by Page. Spears and Page then stomp and pummel Trick. Evans springboard into a double cutter on both Page and Spears. All four men are down selling on the mat as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Cody Rhodes appears

The Undisputed WWE Champion will be in the building tonight’s episode for NXT, along with the fallout from Battleground.

During Sunday’s event, Cody Rhodes made a social media post teasing he would be coming to NXT. He is supposedly there to deliver a gift and to see some old friends. WWE has confirmed that Rhodes will be appearing tonight. We’ll see what that gift ends up being.

New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate) will also be a part of tonight’s show. They’re teaming up with Wes Lee to take on Gallus in a six-man tag match. Dunne & Bate are providing backup for Lee after he was taken out by Gallus in a backstage attack at Battleground.

A Singapore cane match between Lexis King and Dante Chen has been announced for tonight as well, along with Je’Von Evans vs. Shawn Spears and Michin vs. Jaida Parker. Plus, we’ll see the NXT returns of both Wendy Choo and Eddy Thorpe.

Jordan begins by saying the moment was surreal. She has won championships in gymnastics, but nothing compares to being the first North American champ. She put over the intensity of the ladder match, and when she grabbed the belt is a moment she will remember the rest of her life.

Jordan says there is no lineage or history of the title to live up to, but Jordan says she will prove day in and out that no one can do it like her. Jordan is soon interrupted by Jaida Parker.

Out comes Parker to insult Jordan. Parker goes on to mention Michin. Say her name, and Michin appears with an ambush on Parker. Michin brawls with Parker at ringside, while Jordan does a Toru Yano shrug. Jordan clears out of the ring, as the opening bout is underway before the bell can even ring to start the match.

Michin defeated Jaida Parker

Michin pinned Parker with an O’Connor Roll, after The Good Brothers got involved to stop Parker from using a steel chair.

They begin the match itself by continuing the brawl that started at ringside. Parker looked strong as the show cuts to a commercial break, with Parker talking trash after delivering a sit-down splash. Parker is working over Michin as the show returns from the break.

Michin keeps kicking out, and she soon begins a comeback. Michin comes back with a tornado DDT for a two count. Parker cuts off Michin, and Parker drops her with a gourdbuster. Parker then delivers a hip attack that sends Michin sailing out of the ring.

The O.C. – Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows – enter the ringside era to help rally Michin. The Good Brothers back away from Parker as she grabs a metal folding chair stashed underneath the ring. Parkers gets in the ring with the chair, but Anderson jumps on the apron and takes the chair away from Parker. With Parker distracted with the chair and Anderson, Michin rushes in to score a pinfall with an O’Connor Roll.

Clips of Gallus jumping Wes Lee on Sunday are followed by a promo from Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate. The promo was first on WWE’s social media ahead of the tag match tonight.

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is shown arriving to the building, while Cody greeted fans gathered outside hoping for an autograph and a chance meeting.

Thea Hail storms into a classroom, where there is an argument among Chase U. Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Riley Osborne, and Ridge Holland are all arguing when Hail screams at them to shut up and sit down. They all do so. Hail the cuts promos on all four of them, saying they have given everyone a chance. Hail says they all need to get over it and get on the same page.

Hail leaves, but not before declaring, “We are all Chase U, and that is not a teachable moment. That is the truth!” The rest of Chase U were speechless.

Wes Lee, Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang) in a six-man tag team match

Joe Coffey pinned Wes Lee to win a good match. The trios match itself went through a commercial break. The babyface trio rally in the first half, and they are standing tall as the show cuts to commercial. When the show returns from the break, Gallus is under control and working over Bate.

Hot tag after Bate lands on his feet taking a backdrop. Lee tags in and runs wild. Lee flew around and got a near fall. More near falls would quickly follow. Dunne snaps the fingers of Mark Coffey, and Coffey takes the signature wind up punch from Bate. Dunne moonsaults off the apron, and Bate follows with a flip dive. Lee then lands a meteroa for a close near fall.

Lee follows up with another dive out of the ring, switching directions to avoid being tripped up. Lee springboards into the ring, and Joe Coffey dodges him. Coffey then delivers a roaring clothesline, and Coffey covers him for a three count.

Sol Ruca is featured in a vlog that shows her travels to Battleground, and her preparing for her match in Las Vegas. This video package was pretty good character development.

Wendy Choo defeated Brinley Reece (with Edris Enofe & Malik Blade)

Gimmick makeover for Choo, as she is doing a more sinister version of the sleeping persona. Choo has face paint with stitching on her lips like she is a scarecrow. Choo is ghoulish since awakening from her slumber. Choo won dominate fashion, as she submitted Reece with a cobra clutch.

Oro Mensah and Ethan Page are in a program. Footage from after the show went off the air last week showed them brawling. Mensah has attacked Page in an angle. Likewise, Mensah attacked Page in Vegas several times. Therefore, NXT GM Ava had “no choice” but to ban Page from the building.

NXT Champion Trick Williams stars in a new ad for WWE’s online merchandise store. Williams is also up “next” according to a graphic. That is misleading, as several things are really next. Those include commercial breaks, an interview, and the top champion.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is briefly interviewed when Robert Stone interrupted Perez. Stone wants to known what Perez will say tonight in her state of the union segment. Perez says Stone and his boss (Ava) will have to wait.

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes enters the sound stage to a superstar ovation. Rhodes is wearing a suit and carrying his championship belt. On commentary, Vic Joseph notes today is the anniversary of Dusty Rhodes’ passing nine years ago.

Cody addresses the audience and says it is magical here. Cody says perhaps he needs to feel that magic ahead of his title match at Clash at the Castle against AJ Styles. Cody notes Styles was IWGP Heavyweight Champion, NWA World Champion and WWE Champion, but Cody vows to make Styles say “I quit” in Scotland.

Because seemingly no monologue in NXT can go uninterrupted, out comes NXT Champion Trick Williams. Williams joins Rhodes in the ring. Williams draw parallels between himself and Rhodes. Williams talks about how different it feels to be on the other side of the mountain as champion. Williams asks Rhodes how he deals with that.

Cody responds by gesturing towards his title belt, saying there is another mountain to climb. That pops the crowd, but Cody says he does not want to get ahead of himself. Rhodes then announces that Williams’ next challenger will be determined in a 25-man battle royal. They hinted at some of the 25 wrestler being from other brands besides NXT. The winner of the battle royal is the new number one contender.

Cody wishes Trick luck, but Trick was one more question to ask Rhodes. With the Fourth of July approaching, Trick asks Cody if he is coming to the cookout. The crowd cheers wildly just before Cody says his is indeed coming to the cookout.

Dante Chen is interviewed backstage, and he threatens to cane Lexis King in their match.

WWE’s NIL class of 2024 is shown sitting at ringside before the next match. They then supposedly watch along as two pro wrestler beat the heck out of each other with kendo sticks.

For those younger readers, some context to the Singapore cane in American pop culture. In 1994, American student Michael Fay was sentenced in Singapore to be lashed six times by a cane for acts of vandalism. The incident and punishment became national news in the United States. That led to Paul Heyman using the idea of a Singapore cane for gimmick matches in ECW, first with The Sandman and Tommy Cairo. Later, a brutal angle with Tommy Dreamer being canned by Sandman was a turning point in getting Dreamer over in ECW. Sandman would bring the cane with him to the ring as part of his gimmick, which was actually a kendo stick.

Here in NXT, the Singapore cane match is simply two guys beating the crap out of each other with kendo sticks. They were able to mix in a lot of high spots as well. Mostly though, they brutalized each other with shots from kendo sticks. Do they know this is supposed to be a work?

Chen does a suicide dive while holding a kendo stick. Chen is whacking King with shot from the kendo stick when King uses his walking cane to give Chen a low blow. Vic Joseph on commentary called it a “cane,” while Booker T corrected him by saying it was a “scepter.” Whatever you call it, King used it was a weapon to strike Chen. King then used it to help with delivering The Coronation, and King covered Chen for a pinfall.

In a backstage skit, Cody Rhodes gives Jacy Jayne his old face shield from a previous gimmick, since Jayne now has to wear a face shield.

Eddy Thorpe is featured in another vignette ahead of his return bout later on.

Michin exits Ava’s office in a backstage skit, and there to meet her are The Good Brothers. Michin tells them that she is officially the first challenger for Kelani Jordan’s North American title. To celebrate, Michin and The Good Brothers too sweet.

Someone off camera tries to accosts Vic Joseph at the announce desk, and security appears to take him away. Joseph looked mortified.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Tavion Heights

Although Thorpe is getting a big push, this was far from an enhancement match. They had a competitive match, with Heights getting to show some fire. Thorpe escapes a Dragon sleeper, and Thorpe explodes with a flurry of strikes and moves. Thorpe concludes with a German suplex, just before the finisher. Thorpe executes an implant DDT, and Thorpe scores the pinfall.

No Quarter Catch Crew are in a skit where Charlie Dempsey wants to recruit Heights. Damon Kemp is skeptical, and Dempsey cuts a promo on him. Dempsey then instructs Myles Borne to find and recruit Heights.

Shawn Spears defeated Je’Von Evans

Spears pinned Evans after a C4. They had a heckuva match. Evans to shine plenty with his aerial attacks, but it would cost him in the end. Evans is able to block the C4 on Spears’ first attempt. Evan also executes a big springboard cutter on Spears, but Spears the ring veteran rolls out of the ring before Evans can capitalize.

Evans continues to fly all over the place, jumping off the barricades. After a parade of dive, Evans goes for a springboard flying body press. However, Spears moves. Evans crashes and burns, as he smashes the desk. Spears is able to capitalize, and Spears delivers his finisher. From there, Spears scores the deciding pinfall.

Later on, Spears runs into Cody Rhodes in a locker room skit. Spears claims he will win the battle royal and go on face Trick Williams, like Cody did at the Rumble before winning his title. Cody wishes Spears good luck. Ethan Page enters the scene, and wants to also be wished good luck by Cody. In comes Lexis King to interject and vow he is winning the battle royal.

“It seems like you guys are in a good place,” Cody says before turning to leave.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is in the ring for a State of the Union speech, dubbed “The State of the Women’s Division”. Perez is the ring with a fern plant in each corner, which reminded me of the comedy series Between Two Ferns. This was not that. Instead, it was a NXT monologue, meaning someone else joined in. For once it was not an interruption, as Perez called out Ava. An interruption would still come moments later.

Perez wants Ava to thank her for keeping the title in NXT, referencing a recent inter-brand match where Perez retained the title. Ava does not thanks Perez, so Perez continues to cut a promo on Ava and the roster. Perez says no woman can take the title from her.

Out comes Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyz. Jayne is wearing Cody Rhodes’s face shield over her own. Jayne is upset that Perez is taking credit for the whole locker room. Jayne says Perez lost her happy personality. Jayne claims before Perez came along, Jayne was the reason everyone was watching NXT.

This is starting to remind me of media discourse over Caitlin Clark and the WNBA roster, but before I can think much about that, here comes Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson with yet another interruption. It would not be the last. Legend and Jackson proceed to cut promos on Perez.

Lola Vice enters for the final interruption. Vice is trying to cut a promo when Jackson insults her with a comment about twerking. Vice kicks Jackson, and a brawl erupts. A melee ensues to close out the show.

WWE NXT live results: Jordynne Grace in action

After a newsworthy episode last week, NXT is back tonight with its Battleground go-home show.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace made a surprise appearance last Tuesday and was revealed as Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship challenger for Battleground. We’ll see Grace in action before Battleground as she takes on Stevie Turner tonight.

Former AEW wrestler Ethan Page made his WWE debut last week by attacking NXT Champion Trick Williams. We’ll see if Page is confirmed as Williams’ Battleground opponent.

Battleground is taking place from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas this Sunday. The first-ever Women’s NXT North American Champion will be crowned in a ladder match at the event. Tonight, all six competitors — Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Sol Ruca, Michin, Kelani Jordan, and Jaida Parker — will meet for a summit.

Tony D’Angelo defends his Heritage Cup against Damon Kemp tonight. Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx is also set.

Footage from earlier today shows Ethan Page arriving to the building. He is met by NXT General Manager Ava and Mr. Stone, who are also flanked by security. Page thinks he is there to iron out a deal.

Opening the show is an interpromotional match, featuring the champion of a company with a lot of recent questions about its future.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defeated Stevie Turner in a non-title match

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez joined Booker T and Vic Joseph at the announce desk for commentary. This was a showcase match for Grace, working to get her more over with the audience ahead of her challenging Perez for the NXT title. Grace pinned Turner after a Juggernaut Driver, all the while beaming with a big smile.

The smile turned into a smirk after the match, as Perez confronted Grace in the ring. Perez held her NXT title belt over her head. Perez put her title down and shoved Grace. Perez took a bump when Grace shoved her back. Grace counters Perez with a tilt-a-whirl, but Perez escapes Grace’s grasp. Perez flees the ring, and Grace stands tall.

Lash Legend meets NXT Champion Trick Williams as Trick is arriving at the building. Trick is looking for Page, threatening to punch him in the face. Legend encourages him to do so, but then Legend drops a bomb on Trick. Lash tells Trick whatever they have between them is done and over. Lash says she has a chance to be the first Women’s North American Champion. Trick says he gets it, and he is happy for her. Lock in and do whatever it takes to get that title, and Trick is going to handle the Page situation. “We good,” Trick says to Lash before walking into the building.

In a pre-taped skit, Shawn Spears is holding court with series trainees under his learning tree. Josh Briggs interrupts, leading to he and Spears getting into an argument. This would seem to set up a match between the two.

Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Sol Ruca, Michin, Kelani Jordan, and Jaida Parker all meet for a “summit” in the ring. The six met again Sunday in ladder match to determine the first ever NXT Women’s North American Champion.

They are seated in the ring, with Booker T at a podium as the host. The title belt was on its own pedestal in front of the podium. Ladders surround the ring, hinting at the ladder match on Sunday. Everyone is dressed in street clothes, but Sol Ruca was wearing her knee brace. That foreshadowed a brawl that eventually erupted in the ring.

Before the brawl starts, the participants cut some promos ahead of their match on Sunday. Booker T hypes them up, and Michin is first to cut a promo. Parker cuts her off, and Parker cuts a promo on Michin. Fallon Henley interrupts, saying title was created just for her. Jordan responds with the best promo of the bunch.

Sol Ruca won’t cut them down, but she does say she will defeat all of them. Legend interrupts with a high-pitched sound of breaks, as she stops Ruca. The other women sell the high-pitched sound. Legend is cutting a promo when Parker makes an insult playing on Trick Williams. Everyone gets out of their chairs, and a melee ensues. Out comes Mr. Stone, doing the Teddy Long gimmick of booking a six-man tag for later tonight.

A wacky skit with a the No Quarter Catch Crew has Charlie Dempsey doing his version of a mobster gimmick.

Thea Hail is disappointed when Duke Hudson and Riley Osborne tell her they won’t be in her corner tonight. Andre Chase assures her he will be in Hail’s corner. In walks Ridge Holland, and he is going to also be in her corner.

Jaxmyn Nyx defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase & Ridge Holland)

Nyx pinned Hail, as Osborne and Hudson watch on after all. Hail was firing up and making a comeback when she is distracted by Osborne and Hudson. She wondered aloud why they are at ringside, after saying earlier they would not be in her corner. Nevertheless, she goes for a Kimura. Nyx manueavers herself and Hail into a corner, with the referee sandwiched in as well. The ref starts a count, so Hail must break the hold. Nyx then catches Hail with a Pele kick, and Nyx scores a pinfall.

Ethan Page and Ava are exiting her office, and a deal is apparently not done. Page leaves and in walks Mr. Stone. He ask about Page, and Ava shows him what is apparently an absurd list of demands.

“Exclusive footage” shows The Good Brothers brawling with NXT Tag Team Champion Nathan Frazier & Axiom. They get into a brawl at a merchandise stand, when Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows run in with an unprovoked attack. Security jumps in to pull Good Brothers away.

Shawn Spears attacked Josh Briggs before what was supposed to be their match. Spears lays out Briggs in Gorilla. Je’Von Evans walks up and he starts fighting with Evans. They brawl their way to the ringside, where Spears teases putting Evans through the announce desk. Evans counters by backdropping Spears on the desk.

Evans follows up with a springboard cutter in the ring. Evans then clotheslines Spears out of the ring, and Evans stands tall. Evans against Spears is clearly a match for the near future.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Tony D’Angelo (with The D’Angelo Family) defeated Damon Kemp (with No Quarter Catch Crew)

D’Angelo wins two falls to none, ending the match in the fourth round. D’Angelo also takes the first round. He pinned Kemp after a fisherman’s buster suplex and a float-over cover.

No falls in round two or three. Much of the second round goes through a split-screen commercial break. Round three begins when the show returns from the commercial break. The intensity picks up slightly before D’Angelo hulks up. Kemp cuts him off, and Kemp executes a rolling DVD. Kemp goes for a cover, but D’Angelo is saved by the bell.

Kemp rushes towards D’Angelo soon as the fourth round begins. The Don responds with a spinebuster on Kemp. D’Angelo then covers Kemp for a pinfall, winning the match in the fourth round with two falls to none.

Ava is being interviewed by Kelly Kincaid about the contract negotiations with Ethan Page. He wants to have a public contract signing, but Ava says there are still details to work out with his contract. Trick Williams walks in to insist Ava give Page whatever he wants, as Trick is set on revenge.

Jordynne Grace interacts with other women in an odd skit. First, Grace and Michin have a reunion of sorts, as both were in TNA together. Sol Ruca marks out over Grace. Jaida Parker enters to cut a promo and leave.

Grace keeps walking, and she runs into Arianna Grace. The pagent queen remarks how they have the same last name, but no relation. Tatum Paxley then enters the scene to creep out Grace. Not sure where any of that is going, but there it was regardless.

Dueling video package hype Lola Vica and Shayna Baszler, ahead of their Underground match on Sunday. Great highlight reels featuring both.

Natalya (with Karmen Petrovic) defeated Izzi Dame

Nattie pinned Dame to win a competitive match. As they went home, Nattie goes for a sharpshooter. Dame counters into a cradle. Nattie then counters the cradle into a pin cover of her own, and Nattie scored a pinfall. Short, but fun, match.

The tag champs, Nathan Frazier & Axiom, cut a promo on Gallows & Anderson.

Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) jump Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont during a commercial break. Igwe & Dupont entered the sound stage for a match that never takes place, as they are jumped by Gallud.

The Coffeys and Wolfgang cut promos on how they are in NXT to be professional wrestlers. They vow to do whatever it takes to ensure Joe Coffey leaves Battleground as the North American Champion. Out comes the reigning NXT North American Champ, Oba Femi. He is cutting a promo when they are all interrupted by Wes Lee. He is among the live studio audience.

A melee ensues in the ring, as Gallus jump Femi. Wes Lee rushed in to join the fight, but Gallus has both Lee and Femi outnumbered. Lee and Femi are both left laying in the ring. Odd to see Femi sell so much, but they are trying to sell a triple threat match.

Wendy Choo is awakened from her sleep, and she returns next week.

Lexis King and Dante Chen get into a wild brawl in the backstage area. King is being interviewed, where he cuts a promo about Chen. That led to Chen rushing in to attack King. They brawl around the backstage area, and they are separated by producers and coaches. I popped for a Norman Smiley cameo. Robbie Brookeside is also there holding back King.

Jaida Parker, Michin & Sol Ruca defeated Fallon Henley, Kelani Jordan & Lash Legend

Sol Ruca pinned Lash Legend to win the match. This was a wild card match of sorts, with babyfaces and heels mixed together as teams. The teammates end up fighting among themselves just before they go home.

Big melee just for the finish. The smoke clears with Legend thinking she is standing tall, when in leaps Ruca with a springboard into her finisher. Ruca then covers Legend for a three count. Pretty good match, albeit hectic at times.

Eddy Thorpe is the focus of another vignette. He returns soon to NXT.

The ring is set up for a contract signing, with a table and such. Ava is already in the ring, and she introduces Ethan Page. Out comes Page to a chorus of boos. He gets in the ring, and sits in a chair at the table with Ava.

Ava wants to get this done, and she urges them to finish. Page heels on the live studio audience, while the crowd chants for Trick Williams. Page rants about how everyone will be mad about all the perks in his contract, but he “doesn’t really give a damn.” Page goes on say Ava is about to sign the wrestler with the biggest upside in pro wrestling.

Ava responds by telling Page she will not sign anyone with those contractual demands, of which remain a mystery to us. Page insists that Ava needs to sign himself basically because NXT needs fresh talent. There is more inside baseball talk by Page, with the first hint on this show of NXT moving to a new home on television (which is coming in September with the move to the CW)

Page continues bragging on himself as the studio audience chants “whoop that trick” at him. He heels on them. NXT Champion Trick Williams soon enters the sound stage. Williams gets in the ring to confront Page. Meanwhile, Page is moving the table. Page then tells Trick no one is getting put through a table.

Williams insists Ava give Williams whatever demands he wants in his contract, so that Williams can “whoop yo’ ass!” Williams rambles a bit in a promo on Page, and Page soon cuts him off for a promo of his own. Page even compliments Williams, before saying him attaching Trick was not personal. Rather, it was about Page creating an opportunity for himself. Page then says he is ready to sign the contract.

Page signs, and all that remains is Ava’s signature. She tells Trick she cannot sign because of one particular stipulation, although Trick insists she sign. Page says she is signing on for two things: giving Page a title match as his first match in the company, and she is signing on for the end of the “whoop that” era.

Williams cuts one final promo, calling on the crowd to chant “whoop that trick.”

Ava signs the contract. Page and Williams then get face-to-face in a standoff. Their title match is official for Battleground on Sunday.

WWE NXT live results: Trick Williams & Je’Von Evans vs. Gallus

NXT Champion Trick Williams and rising star Je’Von Evans team up tonight as they attempt to get revenge on the Gallus faction.

Last week, Evans came to Williams’ defense when he was attacked by Gallus. But the numbers advantage ended up being too much, and Williams and Evans were both laid out.

Gallus returned to NXT two weeks ago, and they have been on a warpath since. Likewise, Joe Coffey set his sights on both the NXT Championship and NXT North American Championship.

Tonight has Williams & Evans vs. Joe & Mark Coffey in a tag team match.

The road to Battleground continues tonight as WWE reveals Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship challenger for the June 9 event. Two more qualifying matches will also take place to decide who will compete in the inaugural NXT Women’s North American title ladder match at Battleground.

Hip hop artist Sexyy Red stops by NXT for an appearance tonight. Plus, Ridge Holland takes on Riley Osborne.

Opening the show is NXT General Manager Ava, and she introduces Sexyy Red. She is put over as a star. Sexyy Red joins Ava in the ring, where Red announces that she is set to host for Battleground.

Red and Ava then unveil the NXT Women’s North American Championship belt. Gold medallions accented with red on a white leather strap, Red held it up for the audience to see. Tatum Paxley comes crawling into the ring, and she tries to take the belt away from Red.

As a tug-of-war ensues over the belt between Red and Paxley, Michin runs in to save Red. Michin begins to brawl with Paxley, which leads into the opening match.

Michin defeated Tatum Paxley to qualify for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ladder match

Michin pinned Paxley to win the match. In winning, Michin qualifies for a spot in the championship ladder match at Battleground.

Jaida Parker walks down to ringside as the match is underway. Parker provides guest commentary, joining Booker T and Vic Joseph at the announce desk. Meanwhile, Michin and Paxley wrestle through a split-screen commercial break.

The match really picked up in the closing moments. They did a spot where Paxley is trying to play mind games, so Michin gets on her level… literally. Michin lands in the ropes tranquilo style, while Paxley bends herself backwards in a creepy pose. Michin then crouches down and crawls to met Paxley face to face. Michin does the too sweet hand sign, and then they start trading counters. Michin gets a two count with an inside cradle, and they head home. Michin ducks and catches Paxley with her finisher. Michin then covers Paxlet for a pinfall.

Three of the Meta-Four confront two of Gallus in a backstage skit. Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson and Oro Mensah together look to accuse Mark and Joe Coffey of attacking Noam Dar. Gallus denies the accusation, and they storm off. Mensah then says it must be Trick Williams, but Legend is again adamant he did not do it.

In another skit, Arianna Grace tries to reason with Lola Vice about accepting the challenge for an Underground match at Battleground. Grace cautions Vice about such a match against Shayna Baszler. With the setting, the bad acting, and the outfits, it came off silly. Vice did sort of save the skit at the end with a warning that she too is dangerous in the cage. Grace then dropped a curse word, but it was bleeped out. The point of all this is to set up a match for later on with Vice against Grace.

Ridge Holland defeated Riley Osborne (with Thea Hail, Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

Plodding along at first, both spill to the outside. Osborne takes an ugly bump on the floor as they spilled out of the ring. With both down selling at ringside, the show cuts to a commercial break.

Holland cuts off Osborne when he attempted a dive. Holland then goes to use the ring steps, but Thea Hail uses a Jedi mind trick to talk Holland out of using the steps as a weapon. The fight continues in the ring. When Osborne goes to jump off the middle rope, Holland trips him up with a kick. Osborne crashes into the ring, and Holland goes for a finisher. Holland executes The Redeemer, and Holland scores a three count.

This was supposed to settle the issue between Holland and Osborne, or so Chase U thought it did. Holland helps Osborne to his feet, and Holland offers a handshake. Osborne instead storms off and leaves in a huff. Bless his heart, he must be a sore loser.

Kelly Kincaid interviews The Good Brothers, where Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows cut promos on the NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom. They accuse the champs of ducking them.

There is a phantom attack backstage in a Tonya Harding angle of sorts. Cut to Oro Mensah, who was apparently ambushed in a sneak attack by an unknown assailant.

Malik Blade & Edris Enofe (with Brinley Reece) defeated Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows

Anderson pinned Enfoe after a Magic Killer. Not only did this match help set up a a tag title match, it continued whatever storyline they are doing with the bad luck gimmick.

The streak of bad luck continues for Enofe. Blade collides with Enofe on the apron, and Enofe is sent crashing on Reece. She take a bump on the floor, and Enofe calls for the referees to check on Reece. They help Reece to her feet, and she is carried away as the show cuts to a commercial break.

Blade is being worked over as the show returns from the break. Hot tag to Enofe, and he runs wild. He is cleaning house on The O.C., until there is no water in the pool on a leap off the top rope. Gallows then delivers a chokeslam. Tag to Anderson. Good Brother execute Magic Killer, and Anderson covers Enofe for a pinfall.

The tag champs, Axiom & Nathan Frazier, run in after the match. The champs jump their perspective challengers. After the brawling stops, Frazier & Axiom cut a promo where they accept the challenge issued earlier in the show. The O.C. against Axiom & Frazier for the NXT Tag Team Championship is set for Battleground.

Dante Chen is the focus of a video package, which plays off his upset win last week over Lexis King. In a locker room skit, King and Chen set up a rematch for tonight.

Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans are preparing in the locker room for their match tonight. Sexyy Red twerks her way into the scene and she wishes them luck on their match. Evans asks Red to be in their corner for the match, and Red agrees.

TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace revealed as the opponent for Roxanne Perez at Battleground for the NXT Women’s Championship

Perez enters the ring for a monologue, where she talks about being the only champion truly committed to the NXT title. She has been preparing for nine years to become NXT champ. She does not care about Raw or Smackdown, she wanted to be NXT Women’s Champion. Before her reign the title meant ” future greatness instead of present greatness,” but she is true greatness.

Perez finds it disrespectful to have to find out her next opponent this way. As the best women’s champ in wrestling, Perez demands respect. Out comes GM Ava to interrupt Perez, since seemingly every monologue in NXT must be interrupted by someone. At least this was worth the payoff.

Ava then introduces Perez’s opponent as TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace. She enters to a big pop, and Grace gets in the ring to confront Perez. Grace cuts a promo that concludes with her saying she is prepared to leave Las Vegas as a double champion.

Eddy Thorpe is featured in a vignette with fire. Thorpe is cleansed in the fire, and he is reborn.

Tensions flare within Chase U in a backstage skit. Riley Osborne still does not trust Ridge Holland, and Duke Hudson agrees with him. That upsets Thea Hail, and she storms off muttering about having a “whole ass match next week” to prepare for with Jazmyn Nyz. Holland walks up, and Chase tries to no sell the drama.

Lola Vice defeated Arianna Grace

Vice pinned Grace in a short match. This was basically an enhancement match to build up Vice, while also leading into the post-match angle with Shayna Baszler.

Grace got some early offense, and she even got a two count with a backslide. Vice would soon begin to pummel Grace. Although Grace fights back, Grace cuts her off back fist. Grace then covers her for a pinfall.

Vice dances to celebrate, and then she cuts a promo on Baszler. Vice says Baszler has two options in the Underground match, either tap out or get knocked out. Vice concludes, “You choose, bitch!”

Out comes Baszler, teasing a brawl. Security geeks and officials pour out to separate the two, and they are held back. Good post-match angle.

Carlee Bright is the focus of a vignette that focused on her background as a competitive cheerleader.

Natalya is in the locker room with Bright and others when up walks Izzi Dame. Words are exchanged, and Dame insults Nattie. Natalya’s partner, Karmen Petrovic, takes exception to Dame disrespecting Nattie. Petrovic brawls with Dame, seemingly setting up a match between the two.

Dante Chen defeated Lexis King

Chen wins again in this rematch. The bout itself was rather short, and the finish was sudden. Although not a fluke, Chen basically caught King out of nowhere. King delivered a jackhammer for a near fall. King argues with the referee over the cover, allowing Chen to catch him with a crucifix. Chen scores another clean three count on King.

Angry over a second loss to Chen, King attacks Chen after the match. King stomps on Chen and slaps him. King drags Chen out of the ring, and King pulls the protective mat to expose the concrete. King then executes The Coronation on the floor. Chen is left laid out.

Josh Briggs is the focus of a video package. This plays on his journey in NXT, but he is not sure who he is now. Repacking maybe?

Kelani Jordan defeated Wren Sinclair to qualify for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ladder match

Jordan pinned Sinclair after a split-legged moonsault. In winning, Jordan becomes the final woman to qualify for the championship ladder match at Battleground.

Fallon Henley is at the announce desk to provide guest commentary throughout the match, but she does not play into the match. Jordan does give her a smirk after the match.

A skit in Ava’s office sets up a match for next Tuesday with Jordynne Grace against Stevie Turner in non-title singles match. Turner was in Ava’s office alongside Mr. Stone. Turner is upset that Grace is getting a title shot ahead of her. In walks Grace to confront Turner, and Grace challenges Turner to a match next week.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Wes Lee, when in comes NXT North American Champion Oba Femi to interrupt. Lee and Femi exchange words.

NXT Champion Trick Williams & Je’Von Evans (with Sexyy Red) vs. Mark & Joe Coffey

Williams pinned Mark Coffey to win the match. Sexyy Red got involved during the match in a spot with Joe Coffey

The tag match itself goes through a commercial break. Just before the break, Red twerks as Williams and Evans pose. This is after they cleaned house. The tide turns during the break, and Evans is getting worked over when the show returns.

Hot tag to Trick, and he is on fire. Double uranage by Trick on both members of Gallus. Williams tries to cover both, but they kick out at two. The match continues with a two count on Williams. The babyfaces rally, leading to a double down in the ring.

Williams and Mark Coffey are exchanging strikes in the ring. After a near fall on Trick, Mark motions to Joe Coffey. Joe tries to takes the NXT Championship belt, but is met by Sexyy Red. She grabs the belt, and there is a tug-of-war. This is the second such tug-of-war for Red tonight, and she is again saved by a babyface character. Evans leaps through the ropes to wipe out Joe. Meanwhile in the ring, Trick drops Mark with Trick’s signature running knee strike. Trick the covers Mark for a pinfall.

Red is celebrating with Williams & Evans when out comes Lash Legend. Red and Evans leave the ring so that Legend can speak to Williams. Legend asks Williams if he attacked Noam Dar and Oro Mensah. Williams begins to speak when the arena lights go dark.

Ethan Page debuts in NXT with a sneak attack on Trick Williams

The lights come up and Ethan Page is in the ring for a sneak attack on Williams. Vic Joseph on commentary at first wonders who is attacking Williams. Joseph then identifies Page by name.

“Wasn’t he in A-E…” Joseph wonders aloud, but he trails off as Page grabs a microphone. Page identifies himself as the assailant that attacked both Dar and Mensah. Page then delivers a hip attack on Williams, and he poses with the NXT title belt as the show goes off air.

WWE NXT live results: Triple threat number one contender’s match

The build to Battleground continues on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT. Taped last week, this episode determines more contenders for championship matches.

A triple threat match airing tonight will determine the next challenger for Oba Femi’s NXT North American Championship. Wes Lee, Josh Briggs, and Joe Coffey are competing for the title shot on the episode that airs tonight.

Originally announced as Lee vs. Briggs vs. Ivar, but Ivar is out of action due to a serious injury. He was written off the show with an injury angle that also returned a return. That aired as a cliffhanger that ended last week’s episode.

Gallus made their return to NXT last week in an angle where they laid out Lee, Briggs, and Ivar. After that, Lee and Briggs both requested that Coffey be added to tonight’s match so they can get their revenge.

Thea Hail vs. Fallon Henley and Jaida Parker vs. Brinley Reece will decide the next two participants for the inaugural Women’s North American Championship ladder match. That title match is set for Battleground, with Lash Legend and Sol Ruca having already qualified for the bout. Battleground is taking place from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 9.

Also airing on the episode tonight, Natalya & Karmen Petrovic team up against Shayna Baszler & Lola Vice in a tag match.

Opening the show is a qualifying match for the upcoming championship ladder match.

Fallon Henley defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Riley Osborne & Ridge Holland) to qualify for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ladder match at Battleground

Henley pinned Hail in a good match. Holland and Chase U are ejected from ringside, thanks to a ploy by Henley. Henley would use another ploy for the finish, before delivering a shining wizard. Jazmyn Nyz runs in after the match for a sneak attack on Hail.

Hail made an early comeback in the match, before the fight spilled outside. At that point, Hail launched herself through the ropes with a wild dive. The crafty heel then plays a trick to shift the momentum back into her favor.

Henley gets a metal folding chair from underneath the ring. She did so in plain view of Chase U and Ridge Holland, but apparently unseen by the referee. He turns around a moment after Ridge Holland takes the chair away from Henley, and the ref sees Holland holding the chair. The ref then ejects Holland and the Chase U faction. Henley blows them a kiss as the show cuts to a commercial break.

Hail fires up again after the commercial break. She shows a lot of fire, along with a mean face. That angry determination would eventually cost her the match. Henley tries to slingshot herself off the middle rope into a suplex on Hail, but Hail counters with a submission hold. Hail catches Henley in the Kimura lock.

Moments before going home, Henley gator rolls out of the ring with the Kimura lock still locked in. Henley finally breaks the hold by driving Hail into the barricade. After breaking the hold, Henley uses Hail’s anger against her with another heel trick.

Hail hulks up and chases Henley into the ring, where Henley meets her with a shining wizard. Henley then hooks a leg and covers Hail for a three count. In winning, Henley qualifies for the championship ladder match at Battleground.

With her Chase U pals being ejected earlier in the match, Hail is alone in the ring after the bell. Jazmyn Nyz ambushes Hail in an attack. A beat down ensues.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Gallus. Joe Coffey cuts a menacing promo ahead of his triple threat match later on. Mark Coffey, alongside Wolfgang, also chimes in to warn everyone that Gallus is back.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated The D’Angelo Family (Luca Crusifino & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo with Tony D’Angelo & Adriana Rizzo) to retain their titles

Frazier pinned Stacks with a small package, following a run in by No Quarter Catch Crew. They attack Tony D’Angelo. The O.C. also run in for a post-match beat down on the champions, probably setting up a tag title match.

Lots of high spots and flying in this tag title bout. Stacks and Crusifino turn the tables as the show cuts to a commercial break. They take control with some high spots of their own. Frazier is cut off from tagging out, and he is in trouble. Frazier then moonsaults into a Scorpion drop, and he is finally able to tag out.

Hot tag to Axiom, and he is a house of fire. Stacks is able to kick out of a few near falls after taking big moves from the champions. Crusifino cuts off the champs, then he and Stacks execute a tandem slam on Frazier. Axiom is able to make a save to break up a pinning attempt.

In the closing moments, Stacks gives Frazier a superplex for another near fall. Crusifino tries to leap off the top rope, like they were doing the old Power & Glory finish. However, Axiom makes another save. He superkicks Crusifino and wipes him out.

The No Quarter Catch Crew of Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp and Myles Borne run in just before the finish. They gang up on Tony D’Angelo and attack him. Meanwhile, Frazier catches Stacks in a small package for a the deciding pinfall. Stack immediately bails out of the ring to join the brawl at ringside. Crusifino joins in the melee, and they all brawl their way off set.

The O.C. (Good Brothers) run in to jump the champions. Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows attack Frazier & Axiom, and the champs are laid out. Good Brothers pose with the tag title belts, as they stand over the actual champs.

Mr. Stone and Lexis King argue in a skit. NXT General Manager Ava breaks up the argument, and she books King against a mystery opponent for later tonight.

Riley Osborne and Ridge Holland get into an argument backstage over the finish in Thea Hail’s match. Chase tells them to settle it in the ring, thus setting up an upcoming singles match.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi enters the sound stage ahead of the triple threat match, which determines his next challenger. The champ will watch the match from ringside while doing guest commentary.

Wes Lee and Joe Coffey declared co-winners of the triple threat match against Josh Briggs to determine the next challengers for the NXT North American Championship

Instead of determine one top contender, there ends up being two. Briggs is odd man out, although he did work hard to have a good match with the other two. Briggs is able to save face as he is attacked by Mark Coffey & Wolfgang, which took him out of the match.

Lee fires up and launches himself into a dive on Coffey, just before Briggs is jumped by Gallus. Lee then climbs the turnbuckles, and jumps off. Coffey dodges Lee, and Lee lands on his feet. Lee then springboards off the middle rope. Lee and Coffey collide like two rams butting heads. They both fall on top of Briggs, and the referee counts a pinfall.

Lee and Coffey would later be announced as co-winners. In a skit later in the show, Ava tells Oba Femi he will defend against both Lee and Coffey in a triple threat match at Battleground.

Natalya & Karmen Petrovic offer some encouraging words to each other in a backstage interview.

Brinley Reece is preparing for her match in a locker room skit. Edris Enofe & Malik Blade are unsure of being in Reece’s corner because of Enofe’s string of bad luck.

Jaida Parker defeated Brinley Reece to qualify for the NXT Women’s North American Championship ladder match at Battleground

Parker pinned Reece after a hip attack, called “The Tear Drop Hip Check” on commentary. The other qualifying match had a better story, but this match was not without its stories. More like Days of Our Lives than mat classic, though. Enofe & Blade watch from the aisle, which is apparently close enough for Enofe’s bad luck to cost Reece the match, or something like that. Parker still looked strong in winning, as she thwarted a comeback by Reece.

A vignette shows someone waking up from a nap and putting on their slippers, which plays into recent teasers that depicted an alarm clock. Leads me to speculate it is possibly Wendy Choo.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is the focus of a video package. She cuts a promo as a highlight reel plays. After that airs, Ava hints at the next challenger for Perez. She is on the phone with an unknown caller, basically teasing it will be someone from outside NXT. The mystery challenger will be revealed next week.

Dante Chen defeated Lexis King

Second match on the card with an inside cradle for the finish. Chen cradled King with a small package to win the match. It was played up like an upset, as Chen is victorious on his surprise return to NXT.

King cuts a cocky promo before the match, which is interrupted by Mr. Stone. He then introduces Chen as King’s opponent. Chen gets a grand entrance, clearly getting a push.

NXT Champion Trick Williams is introduced before the live studio audience, and he enters the ring wearing street clothes. His title belt is around his waist. All business on this episode, Williams insists he gets serious. That led to Williams denying he attacked Noam Dar in angle from last week.

Meta-Four (minus Dar) interrupt Williams. Jakara Jackson and Oro Mensah cut promos insulting Williams. They accuse Willaims of attacking Dar. Lash Legend chimes in to defend Williams. Mensah questions which side Legend is on, and Williams in turn threatens Mensah.

Joe Coffey comes out for another interruption. Coffey bets Williams is wondering why the person (Coffey) who won a title shot at the North American title is talking to the NXT Champion. Turns out to be a distraction so that Gallus could jump Williams with a sneak attack.

Mark Coffey and Wolfgang attack Williams, and Joe Coffey rushed into the ring to join in. They are hanging up on Williams when Je’Von Evans runs to help Williams. Evans valiantly tries to fight off Gallus, but he is soon overwhelmed and outnumbered. Williams hulks up, but he is outnumbered as well. Williams is laid out, and Gallus stand over him. This angle sets up a tag match for next week, which is announced later in the show.

Mr. Stone and Ava both congratulate Chen on his win. Chen leaves, and Ava congratulates on Stone on making a star.

Hip hop artist Sexyy Red is advertised for an appearance next week on the show. Also announced for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • Michin vs. Tatum Paxley in a NXT Women’s North American Championship qualifier

Karmen Petrovic & Natalya defeated Shayna Baszler & Lola Vice in a tag team match

Petrovic pinned Vice after a Hart Attack finisher. Following the match, Vice turned on Baszler. They then have a brawl, which sets up an Underground match between at Battleground.

This was put in the main event slot, and it was played up as such on commentary. Although maybe not a marquee match, it still leads to an angle afterwards where Vice turns on Baszler.

Vice and Baszler wore matching gis to the ring, but there is friction apparent beforehand. In a locker room skit before the match, Baszler takes exception at Vice dancing. Baszler cautions her not to dance in their match tonight. That would play into the finish, and the angle after the match.

Petrovic is worked over during the match, which goes through a split-screen commercial break. Hot tag to Natalya, and Nattie cleans house.

Vice is being double teamed when Baszler makes a save. There is a tease of another inside cradle finish, but it was a near falls this time. Baszler escapes an attempted sharpshooter, only for Baszler to get knocked out of the ring. Vice with a back fist for a near fall, as Petrovic makes a save.

Nattie runs into another back fist from Vice, who then teases applying the sharpshooter on Nattie. Vice dances and shakes her hips, and Vice slowly attempts to apply the leglock. Nattie reverses the application, and Nattie has Vice trapped in the sharpshooter. Baszler breaks up the hold by attacking Nattie. Petrovic leaps off the top rope into the arms of Baszler, and Baszler applies the Kirifuda Clutch. Petrovic counters to send Baszler crashing outside the ring.

For the finish, Nattie & Petrovic do the old Hard Foundation finisher. Nattie holds Vice so that Petrovic can clothesline her with The Hart Attack. Petrovic then covers Vice for a pinfall.

Vice turns on Baszler after the match, and Vice boots her with a roundhouse kick. Vice dances on the apron in celebration (even though she lost the match). Baszler rises to her feet and sees Vice dancing yet again. An enraged Baszler catches Vice in the Clutch. Referees pour out and separate them. The women pull apart and keep brawling, which leads to GM Ava coming out to book a match between them at Battleground. Baszler then grabs the microphone to shout add an Underground stipulation. The melee continues as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Women’s North American title qualifiers begin

Tonight, qualifying matches begin to determine who will be competing for the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Championship.

The first champion will be crowned in a ladder match at NXT Deadline on June 9. A combine took place last week to decide which 12 wrestlers would get to compete in qualifying matches. Those begin tonight with Ivy Nile vs. Lash Legend and Sol Ruca vs. Izzi Dame.

Thea Hail, Jaida Parker, Brinley Reece, Michin, Fallon Henley, Kelani Jordan, Tatum Paxley, and Wren Sinclair have also earned their places in upcoming qualifying bouts.

The feud between No Quarter Catch Crew and The Family continues tonight with Tony D’Angelo challenging Charlie Dempsey for the Heritage Cup Championship. Je’Von Evans vs. Noam Dar and Malik Blade & Edris Enofe vs. Bronco Nima & Lucien Price are also part of tonight’s lineup.

Plus, we’ll hear from Wes Lee following his return from a serious back injury. After spending nearly six months out of action, Lee returned last week and defeated Josh Briggs. Lee has his sights set on regaining the NXT North American Championship that’s currently held by Oba Femi.

Kiana James is hyping up Izzi Dame in the locker room, ahead of Dame’s match tonight. James says she is going to run Monday Night Raw, after being called up recently. James then says Dame will run NXT. James tells Dame to go out there and win her qualifying match. Dame then leaves, heading for the ring.

Sol Ruca is also heading to the ring, and what an entrance she makes. Ruca cuts a total babyface promo into the camera just before she enters through the curtain. Ruca then walks on her hands as she enters the sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando. Unique entrance to say the least.

Sol Ruca defeated Izzi Dame in a NXT Women’s North American Championship qualifying match

The first to qualify for the championship ladder match, Ruca won via pinfall. The match was good by the end, and they had a great flashy finish.

The match itself starts off clunky, but it improves greatly to end with a hot finish. Ruca gets launched outside the ring, and then thrown hard onto the announce desk. The big bump outside the ring was among the many wild bumps Ruca took in the match. She is worked over by Dame, until Ruca makes a fiery comeback. Dame cuts her off, just before the go home.

For the finish, an Irish whip sends Ruca into a corner. Ruca springs off the ropes to catch a charging Dame in a headscissors. Ruca then flips inside out to deliver a cutter. Called a Soul (or maybe “Sol”) Snatcher by the announcers, it was a great finish out of nowhere. Ruca hooks a leg and covers Dame for a three count. Ruca now advances to the ladder match.

After a good match comes some bad community theater. The D’Angelo Family meets with NXT GM Ava in her office. “The Don” was fined $2,000 by the GM. Ava is paid off in a large envelope. Tony D says it is all there, “and then some.” He tells Ava she can maybe spruce up the office. As far as tonight goes, D’Angelo insists to Ava there should be no “funny business” in the Heritage Cup match later on.

Malik Blade & Edris Enofe are in the locker room. Blade is pumped up, but Enofe is skeptical since he has a stretch of bad luck lately. Enofe even has a rabbit’s foot for luck. Brinley Reece burst into the room, and she is hyped for them. She tosses the rabbit’s foot aside, and says to go get the “W.” Good luck with that.

Shayna Baszler is on NXT again, this time for an interview alongside Lola Vice. Sarah Schreiber interviews them. Suddenly, Karmen Petrovic and Natalya attacks Baszler and Vice. The interview ends with a pull-apart brawl.

OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price with Jaida Parker) defeated Edris Enofe & Malik Blade (with Brinley Reece)

Enofe drops the fall, as his run of bad luck continues. In this match, he almost loses his boot.

The match goes through a commercial break, after Parker and Reece gets into a brawl at ringside. The two team leave the ring to separate the two women, who wrestle next week against each other in a qualifying match. Things settle down, only for a flare up when the show is back from the break.

Referees and officials pour out to ringside, trying to separate Parker and Reece. Soon thereafter, Enofe gets ragdolled in the ring and double teamed. Enofe’s boot is super loose, which would play into the match.

Hot tag to Blade, and he begins to clean house. High cross off the top on both of OTM, and Blade is pumped up. He quickly tags out to Enofe, but his boot is barely hanging on. Blade signals for a double team finisher. Before they can, Blade is booted over the top rope with a kick by Nima.

Enofe tries to fight off Price, but Enofe’s boot is falling off. He eats a superkick instead. OTM hammer Enofe into the mat with a double team spinebuster. Nima then covers Enofe for a pinfall. OTM win in a dominate manner.

Wacky skit in the trainer’s room, as Dar is not cleared to wrestle tonight after an alleged sneak attack. Lash Legend is not worried about them, she has a match up next. She storms off, headed for the ring.

Another wacky skit, this time in the men’s locker room. Tag teams are the focus. NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom are confronted by The Good Brothers, while Frazier & Axiom are talking with Ridge Holland. He has words with Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows. They challenge Holland to a tag match tonight.

Lash Legend (with Jakara Jackson) defeated Ivy Nile in a NXT Women’s North American Championship qualifying match

Legend is the second to qualify for the championship ladder match, after Legend pinned Nile to win this match.

Legend works an arm early on, as she targets Nile’s shoulder. The fight spilled outside at one point. From there, Legend slams her on the floor, and also slames her on the ring apron. Nile counters Legend, and Nile begins a comeback. High cross back into the ring, and Nile is firing up. Legend soon cuts off Nile, but Nile fights back.

They set up and execute an avalanche bulldog. Legend teases a chokeslam as the two are perched on the ropes, but Nile counters into a super bulldog off the top. Legend kicks out for a near fall. Nile had executed a tilt-a-whirl earlier in the match. Legend blocks the second attempt. Nile reveres into a submission hold, catching Legend in a Dragon Sleeper.

Nile is near the ropes with the hold locked in, and Jackson grabs at Nile’s feet. Nile lets go and dropkicks Jackson, but the distraction allows Legend to recover. Legend plants Nile into the mat, and Legend follows up with a pump kick. Legend then pins Nile.

In a backstage interview, Je’Von Evans denies attacking Noam Dar.

Newcomer to NXT television, Carlee Bright asks Ava for a match against Lola Vice. Ava grants her wish for later tonight, as Ava notes how well Bright did in the combine.

Je’Von Evans defeated Oro Mensah (with Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend)

Evans pinned Mensah in an exciting match. NXT Champion Trick Williams comes to ringside during the match for an interaction with Legend, when she tries to cheat. It would be the only live appearance of Trick on this episode.

Evans is a human highlight reel. He is cut off and sent outside the ring as the show cuts to a commercial break. The fighting only intensifies after the break. After a slugfest, Evans springboards into a Diamond Cutter. Mensah rolls out of the ring before Evan can capitalize. Evans follows up with a big dive over the ropes.

Mensah looks to be trouble again, leading Legend to get a metal folding chair from underneath the ring. Before she can do anything with the chair, out comes NXT Champ Trick Williams. He questions what Legend is doing. Meanwhile, Mensah is pummeling Evans.

Back-and-forth in the closing moments, as Evans fights back. Double springboard by Evans into a tornillo press. Evan then scored a three count on Mensah.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Charlie Dempsey, ahead of his match tonight defending the Heritage Cup against challenger Tony D’Angelo. His crew jumped Myles Borne and Damon Kemp last week, hurting them bad enough they could no wrestle tonight. That left Dempsey alone to defend the Cup, without the benefit of the Catch Clause.

Wes Lee is heading to the ring for a monologue. Lee gives a heartfelt speech about his desire to return in NXT. When Lee is seemingly at a loss for words in expressing his gratitude to the fan base, he is interrupted by NXT North American Champion Oba Femi. Since no monologue in NXT can go uninterrupted, out comes the champ to confront Lee.

Femi insists he is impressed with Lee. Femi touts Lee’s accomplishment in returning to NXT. Femi’s tone shifts more sinister. Femi says Lee has taken it far enough, as now is time to sit back and watch Femi take the title to new heights. Lee may have the heart of a warrior, but Femi insists he is an actual warrior.

Femi proclaims himself the ruler, the destroyer, and the bringer of war. He is the mountain Lee cannot climb, and so on. Femi tells Lee to prove he deserves a title shot.

Lee responds by saying that Femi checks all the boxes on what makes a superstar. As Lee is talking, he is interrupted again. This time, it’s Ivar of the Viking Raiders. Ivar says everyone is excited to have Lee back, including Ivar himself. Ivar empathizes with Lee, noting they have the same spinal surgeon. Ivar says he had to fight his way back when he returned from surgery, and Ivar wants Lee to do the same.

Ivar begins to challenge Lee to a match, when they are all interrupted yet again. Out comes Josh Briggs, and he cuts a promo on everyone being so emotional. Briggs notes he and Femi stole the show in their last meeting, and Briggs wants to run it back.

Femi says everyone has a good arguments. Lee insists that Femi book a triple threat, since he is the “ruler’ and all. Femi acts like he is making his own decision, only to book a triple threat number one contender’s match for next week. That is later made official.

A teaser of some sort has someone snoring. Cannot tell who, as it is only audio. Then an alarm sounds, and the show returns from commercial break.

Lexis King is being a jerk again in a backstage skit. Jaxmyn Nyz enters the scene, looking to get people to sign a get well card for Jacy Jayne. No one wants to sign it, except King. He clearly only does it to hit on Nyz. As he leaves, Nyz reads his inscription. King mistakenly refers to “Jacky” instead of Jacy. Nyz in turn refers to King as an idiot.

Ridge Holland & Riley Osborne (with Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail) vs. The OC (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows)

Anderson pinned Holland, after a miscue where Osburne hit Holland with a springboard dropkick.

The story going into the match is Holland trying to gain the trust of Osborne, thus teaming with him tonight. Osborne would go on to cost Holland the match.

For much of the match, Good Brothers work over Osborne. They are cut off when Osborne fights back. Hot tag to Holland, and he throws the heels around with power moves. Holland is a house of fire, and he saves Osborne in the closing moments of the match.

As they go home, Holland has Anderson ready for an Alabama slam. Osborne springboard off the top rope with a missile dropkick. Inadvertently or maybe on purpose, Osburne hits Holland. Anderson then rolls up Holland for a three count.

Lola Vice (with Shayna Baszler) defeated Carlee Bright

Bright is a cookie cutter babyface, even down to the music. She even got to shine some, but not for long. Vice eventually cut off Bright with a superkick, and Vice followed up with a spinning back fist. Vice then pinned Bright.

Vice and Baszler look to attack Bright more after the match. Natalya’s theme music blares, and in she runs alongside Karmen Petrovic. A melee ensues. Nattie and Petrovic clear the ring, and they challenge Vice and Baszler to a tag match next week on NXT. That is later made official for next Tuesday.

In a backstage skit, Riley Osborne shakes hands with Ridge Holland.

  • Jaida Parker vs. Brinley Reece in another NXT Women’s North American Championship qualifier

Tony D’Angelo (with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino & Adriana Rizzo) defeated Charlie Dempsey to win the NXT Heritage Cup

D’Angelo captures the Heritage Cup after winning two rounds, including the final round. Dempsey won a round, but he ultimately dropped the final fall. Thus, he dropped the title. His cohorts in the No Quarter Catch Crew would run during the match, but to no avail.

D’Angelo wins the first round, after catching Dempsey with a victory roll. A subplot in round one is D’Angelo outsmarting Dempsey in a grappling contest, and “The Don” goes up one fall to nothing. While they would grapple at a times in the later rounds, the first round looked much more like the technical wrestling seen in past Heritage Cup matches. The rest of the bout was much more pro wrestling than grappling.

Too bad much of the second round took place during a split-screen commercial break. Joined in progress after the commercials, time runs out on round two shortly thereafter. Dempsey has D’Angelo trapped in an arm bar, but time expires. “The Don” is saved by the bell.

Dempsey wins the third round, after targeting an arm. Dempsey works D’Angelo’s arm. D’Angelo fights back, and they trade near falls with roll-ups and such. That played off how “The Don” scored the pin in round one. On the latest attempt in round three, Dempsey is able to kick out and fight on.

Demspey is on the ropes when he sidesteps a charge. D’Angelo crashes into the post, and Dempsey executes a German suplex with a bridge. Dempsey is able to score a pinfall with the bridge, evening the score at one fall apiece.

No falls in the fourth round. Dempsey continued to work the arm, and Tony D tries to fight back. Comeback by D’Angelo as time expires to end round four. Although D’Angelo delivers a Ron Simmons spinebuster, he is unable to make a cover quick enough as time expired to end the round.

As the fifth round begins, Myles Borne and Damon Kemp run in. They are in tattered clothing, selling the kidnapping and beating from last week. They brawl with the D’Angelo Family at ringside. Borne is in the ring with D’Angelo, and “The Don” backdrops Borne out of the ring.

Near fall for Dempsey in the closing moments, with an O’Connor Roll and a bridge. D’Angelo goes on to counter Dempsey and execute Forget About It (twisting fisherman’s buster). D’Angelo then covers Dempsey for the deciding pinfall. D’Angelo wins the fifth round to capture the Heritage Cup. Not much time to celebrate, as it’s TO THE BACK!

Cut to the back like this an old episode of TNA (from those really bad years), and there was some sort of ambush. Bodies are strewn around. Wes Lee, Ivar, and Josh Briggs are all laid out. Gallus reveal themselves as the assailants, and the show goes off the air with their return as the cliffhanger.

WWE NXT live results: Roxanne Perez vs. Chelsea Green title match

Main roster talent Chelsea Green is in WWE NXT tonight for a shot at championship gold.

The NXT Women’s title will be on the line when Green challenges Roxanne Perez on tonight’s episode, presumably as the main event.

An angle from last week set up the title match, where Perez complained about not being called up in the WWE Draft. NXT general manager Ava later informed Perez that she had a title defense scheduled against Green.

In addition to Green, main roster wrestlers Michin and Shayna Baszler have matches announced for tonight. In single matches, Michin faces Arianna Grace and Baszler is against Karmen Petrovic.

Wes Lee returns to action for the first time since November, taking on Josh Briggs. Lee is back in NXT after an emotional exit months ago.

The road to crowning the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion begins tonight with a combine taking place. The top performers in the combine advance to compete in qualifying matches.

Also on the show is a Supernova Sessions segment with NXT Champion Trick Williams appearing as Meta-Four’s guest. We could likely find out what was in the envelope held by Lash Legend.

This episode of NXT begins with a video package recapping Wes Lee journey in WWE, before being sidelined with a terrible injury and forfeiting his championship. The former North American Champion says he is ready to get back to work.

Other wrestlers from the roster surround Lee backstage to show their support. They cheer him on as Lee wipes away tears. Lee breaks the fourth wall by looking directly into the camera.

“I missed this,” says Lee. “It feels good to be home.”

Lee then walks through the curtain, entering the sound stage for his return match.

Wes Lee defeated Josh Briggs

Lee pinned Briggs in a triumphant comeback, and Lee looked as if he never missed a beat. A post-match brawl with Ivar seems to set up a triple threat with all three.

Lee got to shine early on, until he is cut off by Briggs. Lee fights back with a flying headscissors. He is cut off again by the brute strength of Briggs, only for Lee to counter by posting Briggs. Lee also flings Briggs into the barricade with a another flying headscissors.

Briggs blocks Lee’s Cardiac Kick finisher with a backbreaker. Briggs ragdolls Lee, as Ivar enters the scene. Ivar watches the match from the aisle. Briggs glares at Ivar as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break. When the show returns from the break, Ivar is doing guest commentary at the announce desk.

Babyface in peril with Briggs targeting Lee’s back, playing on the injury that caused Lee’s exit many months ago. Lee soon makes a comeback, and he does a dive through the ropes on Briggs. They land and at the feet of Ivar, who then stands up. Briggs is dropkicked into Ivar, as they collide at ringside.

Briggs is selling the collision with Ivar while Lee rolls him into the ring. Lee climbs the turnbuckles and leaps off into a wicked corkscrew senton. Lee then covers Briggs for a three count.

More action after the bell, as Briggs and Ivar start brawling at ringside. Lee then wipes out both of them with a running flip dive out of the ring. The post-match melee would seem to set up a triple threat match.

As notable is the currentvNXT North American Champion, Oba Femi, watching the match and angle from a perch overlooking the ring. He smiles, seemingly enjoying the sight of the brawl.

A recap highlights the NXT Underground match from last week, which plays into the next match.

Shayna Baszler (with Lola Vice) defeated Karmen Petrovic (with Natalya) 

Baszler submitted Petrovic with a Kirifuda Clutch. Both having a martial arts background made it an interesting match-up from the start.

Baszler targets Petrovic’s arm early on, and Baszler using the ring itself to help dismantle the arm. Baszler traps the arm in the metal support beam that is usually hidden by the ring skirting. Baszler wanks on the arm, all while working over Petrovic.

Petrovic makes a brief comeback and evens gets a near falls on Baszler. Not for long, she climbs the turnbuckles. Petrovic leaps off the top rope into the clutches of Baszlers. Kirifuda Clutch applied by Baszler, and Petrovic taps out.

Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan get into a brief scuffle in a locker room skit, playing off Henley’s heel turn from last week.

A slickly produced vignette features the combine, which determines the qualifiers that will get a shot to become the first ever NXT Women’s North American Championship.

The combine is testing four categories — speed, power, strength and conditioning. It began with a 10-yard sled push. From there was the 10-yard sprint. Next was the in-ring shuttle drill.

Thea Hail and Kelani Jordan broke out as the early front-runners of the combine. To be continued later in the show.

Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe defeated No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne with Damon Kemp) 

The assigned referee for the match was announced as “unavailable”, and the D’Angelo Family was apparently responsible for the disappearance. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo was then announced as the guest referee.

To set up the finish, Dempsey gets mad at Stacks for not counting a fall. Stacks then hits Dempsey with a right hand, and Dempsey is rolled up for a pinfall. The D’Angelo Family is there to watch from ringside, and the Catch Crew are rather upset at the result.

Kelly Kincaid interviews NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez about her title match tonight. Perez cuts a promo on Chelsea Green.

Michin defeated Arianna Grace 

Michin pinned Grace to win the match. Grace got some offense, but this match seemed more of a showcase for Michin. T

hey had a competitive match, but it is hard to take Grace seriously with her current persona. She did some comedy spots early on. Setting up the finish, Grace was yelling at the referee when Michin executed a German suplex. Michin follows up with her finisher, and she pinned Grace.

Thea Hail is talking with Ridge Holland. In walks Andre Chase and Duke Hudson. Lexis King then barges in to interrupt and insult. King as words with King, but Duke Hudson steps in to cut a promo on King. This clearly sets up a match.

Now for a talk show segment.

Supernova Sessions with NXT Champion Trick Williams

Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) host Supernova Sessions with the newest champion of the brand.

They throw to a video package highlights Williams being a modern day traveling champion, meaning he doing media appearances.

Williams says he is out here for one reason only, which is to see what is in the envelope. Lash Legend opens the envelope to reveal a photograph of Williams supposedly pinning Dar in a match weeks ago.

The photo reveals that Dar’s foot was underneath the plain of the ropes, meaning the deciding pinfall should not have counted to end the match. Dar says that Williams’ title reign is built on a lie. Dar vows to “expose” Williams.

Williams stands up and says, “That’s all you got for me?” He is right, ya’ know. That was a lackluster reveal.

Williams goes on to say that all Dar had to do was ask for a title match, instead doing this. Williams gets in a Maury Povich reference in a remark aimed at Legend.

Williams hints at something between himself and Legend. He asks Legend if she wants to tell them, or does she want him to tell them.

Legend goes to address Williams, but she accidently calls him “babe” instead of his name. Williams says they should tell everyone her other pet name for him. Legend goes to leave, and Williams stops her.

As she is saying this is not the time and place, Dar ambushes Williams. The champ is out cold, and Dar poses with the championship. Trick’s first challenger is apparent.

Back to the combine for the “power” portion. First is the vertical jump, then the broad jump, followed by the rotational punch. Jaida Parker shined in this portion. To be continued…

Fallon Henley defeated Kelani Jordan

Henley pinned Jordan after a shining wizard. Thanks in part to an exposed turnbuckle for the finish.

Jordan showed a lot of fire at the start, underscoring the bout being a grudge match. She also got to shine in the match, as she got a lot of offense.

Henley viciously cut her off, showcasing her new rough heel persona. The lucha libre term “rudo” fits well in describing the Henley’s character shift.

Very competitive match, with Henley carrying things. The padded cover is inadvertently pulled off a turnbuckle by Henley. Moments later, Jordan is launched into the exposed metal. Henley follows up with a shining wizard, and Henley scores a three count.

Charlie Dempsey announces that No Quarter Catch Crew will accept Tony D’Angelo’s challenge for a shot at the Heritage Cup. Dempesy puts over the “Catch clause”, which is a take on the the “Freebird rules” gimmick. “The Don” does no know which one of the Crew he faces in the Cup match next week on NXT.

The combine continues with strength and conditioning portions. The medicine ball challenge was dominated by Lash Legend. Wren Sinclair also had a “good showing” with the medicine ball. Michin was highlighted with the iso mid thigh pull, but Izzi Dame had the best numbers in that event.

The last portion of the combine was the conditioning gauntlet, which consisted of “several different cardiovascular fitness drills.” Ivy Nile shined in the gauntlet.

The 12 women advancing from the combine to the qualifiers are (in order of how they placed in the worked combine) Sol Ruca, Thea Hail, Jaida Parker, Brinley Reece, Michin, Fallon Henley, Lash Legend, Ivy Nile, Izzi Dame, Kelani Jordan, Tatum Paxley, and Wren Sinclair.

Lexis King defeated Duke Hudson (with Thea Hail & Andre Chase)

King pinned Hudson in a match where Ridge Holland got involved to cause an inadvertent distraction.

Moments before the finish, King ends up outside the ring on the floor. He trades barbs with Thea Hail. Andre Chase walks over to backup Hail and confront King. Begging off and backpedaling, King keeps looking backwards towards the entrance ramp. That foreshadowed and telegraphed Ridge Holland entering the sound stage with a metal folding chair.

Holland chases King into the ring. Andre Chase pulls Holland away as he tries to get in the ring with the chair. As Holland is pulled out and away from the ring, Hudson is the squared circle. He goes to pick up the chair, but the referee takes it from him. As the ref is tossing the chair outside, Hudson is distracted with that. King swoops in to strike with a superkick. King follows up with The Coronation, and King covers Hudson for a pinfall.

In a nod to Chelsea Green’s history in NXT with Mr. (Robert) Stone as her manager, she passes Stone on her way to the ring for the main event. They nod at each other.

In a skit outside the building, Je’Von Evans has a confrontation with Meta-Four where they try to intimidate them.

Jazmyn Nyz cuts a promo on Thea Hail, over the injury angle where Hail injured Jacy Jayne. Nyz basically vows revenge.

In a backstage skit, Ridge Holland apologizes the Chase U faction for costing Hudson the match earlier on. Hudson accepts the apology on the condition Holland buy them dinner. Riley Osborne on the other hand, he clearly is not convinced. Nonetheless, Holland vows to earn their trust.

NXT Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Chelsea Green to retain her title.

Perez pinned Green, and still…

Lots of pomp and circumstance, which includes ring entrances and the introductions by ring announcer Alicia Taylor.

No real protagonist here, as both worked as heels. That hurt the psychology of the match with no clear crowd favorite. Regardless, both worked hard in trying to have a good match.

The pace was quick early on, leading into a split-screen break. They wrestle through the commercial break, with Green getting heat on Perez. Fighting back, Perez comes back with a flurry of offense.

Back-and-forth down the stretch. In a nod to Green’s husband Matt Cardona, she executes a Rough Ryder. Green is looking dominate at times, but Perez kicks out for a near fall.

As they near the homestretch, Green is tripped up while trying to climb the turnbuckles. That led to Green taking a big bump when Perez does a Super Frankensteiner off the ropes.

Missile dropkick by Green for the last near fall. Perez counters an Unprettier, and Green in turn counters Pop Rocks. They trade near falls after each reversed an O’Connor Roll. Perez is sent into the ropes. She bounces off the ropes and looked to deliver Pop Rocks. Somewhat botched, but they went home anyway. Perez covers Green for the deciding pinfall, and still…

Concluding the show is a cliffhanger angle where The D’Angelo Family engages in more organized criminal activity. Tony D’Angelo and company assault and kidnap Damon Kemp and Myles Borne. That leaves Charlie Dempsey as the lone member of the Catch Crew, ahead of the Heritage Cup match next week against D’Angelo.

WWE NXT live results: Spring Breakin’ week two

Spring Breakin’ 2024 concludes with week two taking place tonight.

For the first time ever, there will be a women’s NXT Underground match. Natalya and Lola Vice are facing off in the MMA-inspired matchup. It pits a Hart Dungeon graduate against a former Bellator MMA fighter.

In addition to Natalya, main roster wrestlers Ivar, AOP, and The O.C. are set for action as well.

Ivar and AOP are both challenging for titles. It will be Oba Femi vs. Ivar for the North American Championship and Nathan Frazer & Axiom vs. AOP for the NXT Tag Team titles.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. the debuting Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe, Thea Hail vs. Jacy Jayne, and Shawn Spears vs. Ridge Holland round out the announced match lineup.

We’ll also get Trick Williams’ first appearance as NXT Champion. He defeated Ilja Dragunov for the title in last week’s main event.

Dragunov is among the wrestlers who were called up from NXT in the WWE Draft.

The new era is a common theme in recent months on WWE television for a variety of reasons. From the start, this episode of NXT feels like a new era. With that, out comes new NXT Champion Trick Williams for his first appearance in NXT as the brand’s new top men’s titleholder. 

In his monologue, Trick acknowledges and thanks former champ Ilja Dragunov. Williams wishes him luck, and tells him to do his thing. Because seemingly no monologue in NXT can go uninterrupted, Lash Legend is out to interrupt the victory speech.

Legend walks to the ring while also congratulating Trick on winning the title. She ask him to help her get into the ring, and he holds the ropes open for her. She fans herself with the envelope in her hand, as Trick circles with elevator eyes. Lash calls Trick the “hottest superstar” in the brand. 

Trick stops her to remind everyone the last time they met in a ring, she tried to smack him in the face. Trick inquires, “Now I got a little gold around my waist, and you want a little taste, don’t ya’?”

Lash says not to go there. Trick responds with sexual innuendo related to Reese’s Cups. Lash says that Trick should no she doesn’t even like Reese’s Cups. She like Kit Kat bars. Tricks replies, “Let me break you off then.” 

Lash continues to fan herself with the envelope. She says that is enough, and she has something for him. What she has in the envelope is the truth. Lash goes on to tell Trick he should enjoy his title run for now, because it will all come crashing down. Lash adds that “things are going to get really hot.” 

Lash leaves the ring. We still do not know what is in the envelope.

A vignette focuses on Arianna Grace trying to teach Gigi Dolan how to be a pageant queen. The main joke here was Dolan burping, and Grace being appalled by it.

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Ivar to retain his title

Femi pinned Ivar to retain the title in what was a hoss fight. Ivar led the way, and they had a really good match. Ivar took some big bumps, and he flew around like crazy.

Ivar starts off hot, and he does a somersault senton off the apron. No luck on a leap off the top rope, but Ivar still manages to catch Femi with a twisting powerslam. Femi fights back and the fight spills outside again, where they do a stunt smashing through a piece of the barricade. From there, the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

The fight continues during the break, and there are even more high spots when the show returns from commercials. Ivar leaps off the top turnbuckle, and he somersaults to the floor on Femi. Ivar is soon cut off again, but he kicks out for a near fall.

Femi is running wild with smashes into a corner, until he eats a leg lariat. Near fall for Ivar, but it was Femi’s turn to kick out. They continue trading near falls. In a feat of strength, Femi picks Ivar up for a Samoan Drop. Moments later, the mighty Ivar jumps off the top rope with a massive moonsault press. Femi gets a foot on the break the count.

To set up the finish, they do an electric chair spot where Femi falls back with Ivar on Femi’s shoulders. Femi then hulks up, and he powerbombs Ivar. Three count later, and still…

Thea Hail is flanked by her Chase U pals as she heads to the ring for her match tonight. Hail is pumped up. Fallon Henley is also there, but she is bummed about not getting drafted, among other things. Jacy Jayne is in Henley’s head. Hail still wants Henley in her corner, and Henley agrees. Hail then enters through the crowd for her grudge match that is up next.

Thea Hail (with Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, Riley Osborne & Fallon Henley) defeated Jacy Jayne (with Jazmyn Nyx)

Hail submitted Jayne with a Kimura lock. Fallon Henley took a bullet for Hail, which led into the finish. In an angle after the match, Henley turns on Hail and attacks her.

Jayne gets heat on Hail as they wrestle through a split-screen commercial break. When Hail ends up outside the ring, Nyz tries to interfere by attacking Hail. She ducks a lariat from Nyz, and Henley jumps in to take the bullet. Nyz goes for a Pele kick, and Henley takes the kick instead of Hail. 

Hail then gets back into the ring, where she traps Jayne in a Kimura lock. Jayne taps out, and Hail wins via submission.

Hail celebrates in the ring with Chase U, while Henley sells her face from the kick. As they go to leave, Henley stops Hail. Henley then smacks Hail with a right hand. Hail sells big, and Henley saunters away. She stops briefing to exchange glances with Jayne.

Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe are the focus of a video package that hypes their debut match, which is up next.

Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows defeated Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe 

The Good Brothers win by pinfall after Igwe takes a Magic Killer. Gallows then covers Igwe for a clean pinfall. Dupont & Igwe were given several video packages ahead of their debut match, and then they lose clean in the middle of the ring via pinfall. Please make it make sense. Dupont & Igwe could have started with a lot of momentum in a big push. Instead, they lose their first match.

The WWE Draft is the focus of a video package. More specifically, draft picks where NXT talents gets called up to the main roster is the main focus. No only do the draft picks gets recognition, the video package puts over the coaches at the Performance Center. Johnny Moss, Alex Winkler Robbie Brookside and Williams Regal comment on cultivating the future of WWE.

NXT GM Ava is in ring to announce a ladder match, which will determine the first NXT Women’s North American Champion. Ava announces the ladder match will take place at NXT Battleground. Beginning next week, the women’s roster will take part in a combine. The top 12 in the combine then have qualifying matches to determine the slots for the ladder match. 

Because seemingly no monologue in NXT can go uninterrupted, out comes Jaida Parker to interrupt Ava. Parker gets in the ring, while saying she will demolish everyone other woman in the locker room. Parker is then interrupted, as Sol Ruca comes to the ring to confront Parker. Next to interrupt is Ariana Grace, followed by main roster talent Michin.  

Michin declares she will enter the combine. Grace cuts off Michin’s promo, leaving to Michin smacking her. A wild melee erupts. It’s a Gordon Solie Pier Sixer, as the a bunch of the women’s roster rush the ring for a big brawl.

Ridge Holland defeated Shawn Spears

Holland pinned Spears, after a Holland’s DDT finisher. Holland also delivered an exploder suplex to set up the finish, which played into a spot where Spears did that same on Holland weeks ago. Holland wins the grudge match 

The match went through a commercial break, and it felt like just another match on the show despite how much TV time was devoted to the feud. 

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Ava argue in a backstage skit. Perez is upset she did not get drafter, and Ava explains she was immune from the draft because Perez was a titleholder. That upset Perez even more, and she storms off. Ava says they will have to talk sometime later. This skit seemed to serve little purpose, although it leads to a skit that closes the show.  

Wes Lee and Josh Briggs exchange words in another backstage skit, setting up a match between the two. Ivar is also there, and he tells Lee that Ivar is not done with Femi yet.

Paul Ellering cuts a promo for the Authors of Pain, ahead of their tag match that is up next. AOP grimace and show their mean faces, doing their best Road Warriors act. 

The D’Angelo Family is riding around in a SUV, and they are planning Tony D’Angelo strategy when he challenges for the Heritage Cup.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated The Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar with Paul Ellering, Karrios Kross & Scarlett) to retain their titles

Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate interfere, allowing Axiom to win with a schoolboy roll-up. The babyface champs in their first defense retain thanks to outside interference. The booking on this show remains perplexing in terms of getting people over. Regardless, this was a decent enough tag match in spite of the screw-job finish.

Skirmish before the bell, as they brawl. The babyfaces clear the ring and do dives, as they shine at the start. The bell officially rings to start the match, and AOP are quickly in control. The heel monsters work over Frazier, and the match goes through a commercial break. Heat on Axiom as the show is returning from the break. 

Hot tag to Frazier, and he explodes with a flurry of moves at a rapid pace. Nevertheless, Frazier is soon cut off. Tandem offense by AOP, which led to a near fall and shocked facial expressions when the babyfaces kicked out.

Scarlett interferes at one point, so the referee ejects both her and Kross, who had also jumped on the apron. Ellering is allowed to stay. Meanwhile, AOP toys with Axiom. Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne suddenly appear at ringside, and they interfere by booting Akam & Rezar. Axiom then scores a three count with a schoolboy cover.

Thea Hail is flanked by Chase U in the trainer’s room. In walks Ridge Holland, who is wearing red. Everyone is in school colors. Foreshadowing or nah? Anyway, Holland and Andre Chase have a cordial chat. 

Meta-Four cut a promo where Noam Dar invites Trick Williams to be a guest on Supernova Sessions next week. If Williams accepts the invite, Dar promises to reveal the contents of the envelope that Lash Legend had earlier in the show.

The heel turn of Fallon Henley continues, as Henley tells Kelani Jordan that Henley will now put herself first. Very unoriginal idea for a heel turn, since we have seen similar motivations on NXT before in other angles.

Edris Enofe & Malik Blade are talking about the broken mirror skit from last week, when in walks Brinley Reece. She brought black cats for them to play with. The joke is black cats bring bad luck, adding to the bad luck brought by the broken mirror. Maybe they will walk under a ladder next week. Not sure how this gets them over as anything more than a mid-card comedy act, especially considering Enofe & Blade have lost clean so many times.

Down comes the ropes, as preparations are made for the Underground. Surrounding the ring is a bunch of other people on the roster, forming a human cage around the ring like they are lumberjacks. They pound on the mat, and they take bumps when the two women crash into them, but the do not otherwise factor into the match.

Lola Vice (with Shayna Baszler) defeated Natalya (with Karmen Petrovic) in an Underground match

Vice won via referee stoppage, after Vice knocked out Nattie with a back fist. Interference by Shayna Baszler cost Nattie the match. This match worked for what it was, but it seemed way overbooked.

Do not confuse the Underground gimmick with Josh Barnetts’ Bloodsport. The Underground is way more WWE. Did not take them long to get into pro wrestling spots. There is still a lot of grappling. Nattie takes a bump outside, just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Later, the fight spilled outside the ring again. Nattie takes a bump on the announce desk. Moments later, Nattie is sent crashing into the ring post. Vice applies a triangle choke, but Nattie escapes the hold. Vice applies another choke. Nattie finally escapes by rolling out of the ring, where Nattie delivers a spinebuster to break the guillotine choke.

Nattie rams Vice’s leg into the ring post, and Nattie does a takeoff on Bret Hart’s ring post figure-four spot. Nattie applies a knee bar with Vice’s legs tied around the post. Baszler walks over near them, and Petrovic jumps on Baszler’s back before she can interfere.

Back in the ring, Baszler interferes to tray blocking Nattie from applying a sharpshooter. Nattie fights off Baszler, and she tosses Baszler out of the ring. Nattie then goes on to apply a sharpshooter. With Vice trapped in the sharpshooter, Baszler basically takes a hostage. Baszler grabs Pertrovic in a Kirifuda Clutch. Nattie breaks the hold and goes after Baszler. Nattie pummels Baszler, and Nattie sends Baszler crashing into the barricade. 

For the finish, Nattie gets back into the ring. Baszler is on her feet again, and she grabs Nattie’s foot. The interference and distraction by Baszler is enough for Vice to catch Nattie off guard. Nattie kicks free from Baszler’s grasp, only for Nattie to turn around and walk into a spinning back fist delivered by Vice. Nattie sells like she is out cold, as Vice is pummeling her with ground and pound. The ref jumps in to stop the match, awarding the win to Vice.

Closing the show is a backstage skit with GM Ava and NXT Women’s Champ Roxanne Perez. Ava reveals to Perez that her next title defense is next week against Chelsea Green. Popping in for a quick promo, Green basically vows to win the gold. Green tells Ava she is the nest, and Green remarks she will love it here in NXT. 

WWE NXT Spring Breakin’ week one live results: Dragunov vs. Williams

After tonight, Trick Williams will either be NXT Champion or gone from the brand entirely.

Ilja Dragunov vs. Williams for the NXT Championship headlines week one of NXT Spring Breakin’ 2024. It’s a rematch from Vengeance Day, where Williams came up short in his attempt to claim the NXT title. If he doesn’t win this time, Williams has to leave NXT.

The match is taking place in advance of the 2024 WWE Draft beginning on SmackDown this Friday. Dragunov has already declared for the draft.

The NXT Women’s Championship will also be defended tonight as Roxanne Perez faces Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a triple threat match.

Sol Ruca vs. Blair Davenport in a Beach Brawl, The D’Angelo Family vs. No Quarter Catch Crew in a six-man tag match, and Baron Corbin vs. Lexis King are also set. Plus, Natalya and Lola Vice will sign the contract for their NXT Underground match that’s taking place next week.

The show opens with three General Managers having a discussion about tonight. NXT GM Ava is joined in person by Raw GM Adam Pearce. Smackdown GM Nick Aldis is on Zoom. They put over tonight as a big night, and they also briefly discuss the draft.

Ava talks about how tonight is about who will step up in NXT ahead of the draft to take the place of anyone drafted away from the brand. Ava confidently says NXT will never be the same after tonight.

Opening the show from a sound stage at the Performance Center in Orlando is a three-way match for the women’s title.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria in a triple threat match to retain her title

Perez pinned Paxley to win the match. Paxley had the match won, but Perez cleverly slipped in to win. 

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Some good high spots before the break, and they trade some close near falls after the show returns. They also went home playing on a near fall. The finish was cleverly done.

As they go home, they all three are countering and delivering big moves. Paxley and Valkyria are wrestling each other after Perez is seemingly wiped out taking a roundhouse kick from Valkyria. Paxley countered Pop Rocks, and she whipped Perez toward Valkyria and the roundhouse kick.

Paxley and Valkyria face off, with Paxley getting a close near fall. Paxley executed a 450 splash on Valkyria. As Paxley is going for the cover, Perez jumps in to break up the attempted pin. Perez then cradles Paxley with a jackknife for a three count. 

Fallon Henley gets into a pull-apart shouting match with Jaida Parker in a backstage skit that also includes Thea Hail and Kelani Jordan. Hail, Jordan and Henley were chatting about Hail about recent events when Parker chimed in to call out Henley. This clearly sets up a match between Henley and Parker.

A vignette hyped the arrival to NXT of a newcomers Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe, who are set to debut next Tuesday on NXT.

The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile are interviewed by Kelly Kincaid. They talk about main event tonight, where Trick Williams challenges for the NXT title against champ Ilja Dragunov. The interview concludes with them chanting “whoop that trick.”

An official announcement plugged NXT Battleground at UFC’s Apex facility. 

The D’Angelo Family (Tony D’Angelo, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo & Luca Crusifino with Adrianna Rizzo) defeated No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne) in a six-man tag team match

D’Angelo scores a pinfall on one-third of the Heritage Cup Champions. The result could likely set up D’Angelo challenging for the Cup in the near future

The trios match goes through a split-screen commercial break. When the show returns, heat on Stacks as he is worked over. A gutsy Stacks eventually makes the hot tag. Far from the best hot tag, but D’Angelo runs wild anyway. The Don cleans house on the Catch Crew. D’Angelo is going for his finisher on Kemp when Dempsey chop blocks The Don’s knee. 

Nice combos by Kemp and Borne, along with Crusifino & Stacks. D’Angelo kicks out for a near fall. Stacks jumps in to break up a pinning attempt, saving The Don. Crusifino gets to shine by doing an Arn Anderson spinebuster. For the finish. D’Angelo plants Dempsey with a pop-up powerbomb, and The Don scores a clean three count.  

Jaida Parker (with OTM) defeated Fallon Henley

Parker pinned Henley after a hip attack. The match begins during a split-screen commercial break, and the bout is joined in progress after the break. Henley gets several near falls, but Parker strikes with what was called a “Tear Drop” hip attack, and Parker pins Henley clean.

Jacy Jayne, flanked by Jazmyn Nyz, cuts a promo on Thea Hail, ahead of Hail and Jayne having a grudge match next Tuesday on week two of Spring Breakin’. 

A video package hypes Lola Vice, as she prepares for an Underground match against Natalya. There contract signing is up next.

NXT GM presides over a contract signing for a NXT Underground match between Nattie and Vice. Set up is a makeshift Underground ring with no ropes. Two chairs are on each side of a podium. Nattie and Karmen Petrovic sit on one side, as Petrovic is in Nattie’s corner.

Nattie wants to know who is in Vice’s corner. Vice responds by saying Nattie is more worried about who is the second than she is worries about Vice winning the match. Vice says that although she can “shake her ass,” Vice can also kick Nattie’s as well. Vice is supposed to be the heel here, but the live studio audience cheers her like she is the babyface. 

Shayna Baszler is eventually revealed as the person in Vice’s corner for the match. Baszler comes to the ring and cuts a promo. She pushes Petrovic, only for Baszler to get wiped out by a roundhouse kick. Brief melee before Vice and Baszler flee the ring, as Nattie and Petrovic stand tall.

Ridge Holland is seen arriving to the building earlier today. Shawn Spears confront Holland, playing more mind games with Holland.

The Final Testament are the focus of a video packing hyping them up.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom are backstage, and they are fired up about The Final Testament. Other teams are around them and they are upset too. In comes The Good Brothers, and they are upset. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe are also upset. Enofe then accidentally knocks over a cheap stand-up mirror. A bad skit ends in bad luck.

Sol Ruca defeated Blair Davenport in a Beach Brawl match

Ruca pinned Davenport in a match filled with what Dusty Rhodes would call blunder. No disqualification, so there are indeed lots of weapons. Some of the props used are beach-themed, like a surfboard that Ruca brought with her. Also around the ring are things like beach balls and lawn chairs. Other more harmful weapons are used including metal folding chairs, and a folding table set up to look like a picnic table.

Ruca falls backwards off the barricade at ringside with Davenport on Ruca’s back. Davenport is driven through the picnic table. Moments later, Ruca executed her springboard cutter finisher on a surfboard. Ruca then scores a pinfall as the crowd pops.

Lexis King defeated Baron Corbin

King pinned Corbin, after a low blow and a Coronation finisher. This match was set up by an angle shot yesterday, which was shown earlier in the show. Not sure who is the protagonist here, if there even is one. Seemingly the least amount of crowd heat of any match on the show, but the result at least put heat on King. 

King tried to cheat by putting his feet on the ropes, but the referee caught him. King would cheat again moments later, but the ref misses it that time after almost colliding with Corbin. Behind the ref’s back, King boots Corbin with a low blow. King then delivers a Coronation, and he covers Corbin for a pinfall. 

Both the champion and the challenger in the main event cut pre-match promos. Also, World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest wishes Dragunov luck. 

Trick Williams says he will whoop that trick like his mama told him too. This is notable because Williams’ mother is in currently in the hospital, adding a real life situation to the drama of the main event.

Trick Williams defeated NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov to win the title

Williams pinned Dragunov after a jumping knee strike. And new…

Strong back-and-forth action at the start. This was babyface against babyface. They even slapped hands and hugged, just before they broke out into a slugfest. They wrestle through a split-screen commercial break, and they are fighting on the turnbuckles as the show returns. 

Ugly botch as Dragunov goes for a sunset bomb, and Williams lands on Dragunov’s chest. That causes Dragunov’s leg to fold up underneath him in an awkward manner. The referee immediately check on Dragunov, must have been okay, as the match continues on.

Dragunov with a coast-to-coast missile dropkick for a near fall. Williams then makes a comeback, and Williams gets some near falls of his own. One those near falls included Williams doing Dragunov’s finisher. Nevertheless, Dragunov kicks out and fights back. He gives Williams an exploder suplex in a corner, as the studio audience chants, “This is awesome!”

Dragunov clears the announce desk, and he teases putting Williams through the table. Williams counters Dragunov, and Williams in turn gives Dragunov a Rock Bottom off the barricade, through the announce desk. The table implodes under the weight of the stunt. 

Superplex in the closing minutes, and Dragunov delivers a H-bomb. Dragunov drops another H-bomb flying off the middle rope, but Williams kicks out at two and half. Dropping a third H-bomb, Dragunov comes crashing down off the top rope. Upon impact, Dragunov sells his hand as if he hurt it on the H-bomb. Thus, Dragunov is unable to capitalize. 

They trade near falls in the closing moments. Dragunov is the last to kick out, but he is soon hit with a running knee strike. They both signal for their respective finisher. They face off like a gunfight, and Williams is the first to strike as he hits the leaping knee strike. Williams then covers Dragunov for a three count, AND NEW…

Doing the Hulk Hogan gimmick from WrestleMania VI, Dragunov grabs the title belt from the referee. While Dragunov did not go into business for himself like Hogan, the defeated former champion does presents the belt to the new champ. They embrace, and Dragunov leaves the ring to allow Williams to have his moment. NXT has a new champion.

WWE NXT live results: Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes steel cage match

Less than two weeks removed from Stand & Deliver, rivals Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are set for another big matchup.

Williams defeated Hayes in the main event of NXT Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. They’ll face off again on NXT tonight, this time in a steel cage match. It comes after Hayes beat down Williams last week and left him laying.

At NXT Spring Breakin’ later this month, Williams is set to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. That title bout comes with the stipulation that, if Williams loses, he will leave NXT.

Dragunov retained his title against Tony D’Angelo at Stand & Deliver. Tonight, D’Angelo makes his first appearance since that loss.

Ridge Holland vs. Joaquin Wilde, Lola Vice vs. Sol Ruca, Thea Hail vs. Tatum Paxley, AOP vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, and Dijak vs. Noam Dar are among the other matches set for tonight.

Dijak vs. Dar is kicking off the episode. Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The newly remixed “Then… Now… Forever” canned intro welcomes viewers.

Noam Dar (with Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson & Oro Mensah) defeated Dijak

Dar pinned Dijak after a distraction by Mensah, followed by a Nova Roller. Good match to open the show, and the result can easily lead to a return match. It would not be the only outside interference on this show. 

Meta-Four are the corner of Dar. Dijak was a lone vigilante, which fits his whole gimmick. Notable height difference between Dar and Dijak, and they played on that at times. Yet, the match was still very competitive. 

Still not sure which one is the protagonist here, or if there is even supposed to be a good guy. Dijak seems like the babyface, except when he is pummeling Dar with stiff chops. 

The match itself goes through a split-screen commercial break. Hard overhand chops by Dijak buckle Dar numerous times. Dar worked to target what Booker T called “pressure points.” Dijak twice countered a guillotine choke. The second time, Dijak counters into a pop-up choke bomb, and Dar gets a shoulder up for a near fall.

Dar kept going for a fisherman’s buster suplex, but the larger Dijak would counter. Finally, Dar executes the suplex. From there, the height difference is less of a factor. The fight soon spills outside, and Dijak is sandwiched into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Dar follows up with a roaring elbow for a near fall.

They trade strikes and kicks, until Dar is turned inside out with a discus kick. Mensah causes a distraction, and he gets super kicked by Dijak. Mensah takes a bump off the apron, and his distraction is fruitful. Dijak turns around to walk into a Nova Roller. Dar then scores a three count on Dijak. 

Mensah was selling his jaw, but Meta-Four was otherwise very proud of themselves. Dijak stares daggers through them. This program has just begun. 

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov meets with NXT GM Ava in her office. Ava wants Dragunov to have a match tonight, but she will let Dragunov pick his opponent. Instead, Dragaunov makes a open challenge. As if an open challenge is not an overdone trope these days. 

Tatam Paxley cuts a promo on Lyra Valkyria. The vignette which hypes up a match between the two. 

Lola Vice defeated Sol Ruca

Vice pinned Ruca after outside interference by Blair Davenport. Second match in a row to have outside interference play a part in the finish. Would not be the last time on this show. After the match came a pre-taped promo where Natalya challenges Vice to a NXT Underground match at Spring Break. 

Vice works over Ruca during the body of the match. Comeback by Ruca, and she gets a near fall after a standing moonsault. Ruca fires up again to springboard into a sunset flip. Ruca climbs to the top rope, and she goes for her finisher where she cartwheels off the top rope. Blair Davenport runs down to ringside, and she trips up Ruca. After taking a bump into the ring, Ruca eats a kick from Vice. 

Vice is dancing and celebrating her win when Natalya appears on the Titantron. Nattie’ cuts a promo on Vice, and Nattie challenges Vice to an NXT Underground match as part of week two of Spring Breakin’.

Arianna Grace is giving Gigi Dolan a makeover. Stay tuned for that. 

Ridge Holland defeated Joaquin Wilde

This match was set up with an angle on X, where Holland snapped on Wilde. So much for Holland stepping away from the ring, after the heartfelt speech a few weeks ago. Holland is still facing some sort of inner turmoil. Shawn Spears comes down to ringside, furthering his mind games with Holland.

To set up the finish, Wilde goes for a dive through the ropes. Holland catches Wilde and turns the dive into a hard powerslam on the floor. Back in the ring, Holland gives Wilde a DDT, and then Holland covers him for a pinfall. Holland bumps into Spears on his way out.

 Ivar basically tries to give Josh Briggs some veteran advice in the trainer’s room, and Briggs takes offense to that. This sets a match for later tonight between Ivar and Briggs. 

Thea Hail and Andre Chase have a heart-to-heart talk in a backstage skit with comically bad acting.

Tony D’Angelo is decked out in a very nice suit and hat. He is headed to the ring to address the audience, flanked by his Family. Tony D speaks for a moment, until he is interrupted by No Quarter Catch Crew. Charlie Dempsey is no positioned as the leader of that group, as he was flanked by Myles Borne and Damon Kemp. No sign and no mention whatsoever of Drew Gulak.

More bad acting, as Dempsey argues with D’Angelo. There is a debt to be paid of some sort, because every storyline for D’Angelo has to seemingly have a mafia angle. At least that somehow sets up a wrestling match for the Heritage Cup. The argument turns into a brawl, with the Catch Crew and the Family in a melee. Catch Crew is sent packing. 

Much of the men’s roster rush to the ring to answer the open challenge issued by champ Ilja Dragunov, but they are all outsmarted by Je’Von Evans. He leaps over the ropes on the opposite side of the ring, springing to the ring to face Dragunov.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov defeated Je’Von Evans in a non-title match

Dragunov pinned Evans in arguably the best match on the show so far. The live studio audience was hot from start to finish. Evans got to shine with plenty of high spots and close near falls. Evans got air as he flew around the ring. Dragunov ultimately counters a splash by getting his knees up. Dragunov then dead lifts Evans, leading into the finish. Dragunov delivers Torpedo Moskau, and Dragunov covers Evans for a pinfall.

Sol Ruca cuts a promo where she demands Ava book a no disqualification match between Ruca and Davenport for next week. This sets up a “Beach Brawl” for next week.

Tatum Paxley defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Riley Osborne)

Paxley is getting a push lately in a feud with Valkyria, so of course Paxley gets the win here, albeit with outside interference. Yet another match on this card that ends after a heel interferes in the match. 

Hail is making a comeback when Jazmyn Nyz jumps on the apron to distract the referee. Meanwhile, Jacy Jayne trips up Hail. Paxley then catches Hail in a crucifix for a pinfall. 

Hail attacks Jayne after the match, and they are pulled apart. In a separate pull-apart brawl, Lyra Valkyria rushes into the ring to jump Paxley. They brawl until referees pour into the ring to separate them.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is interviewed by Kelly Kincaid, and Perez cuts a promo about Valkyria and Paxley. GM Ava interrupts to book Perez in a tripe threat title match against both Valkyria and Paxley, which takes place next week on week one of Spring Breakin’. 

Authors of Pain (with The Final Testament) defeated Malik Blade & Edris Enofe

My guess is this run in NXT is for Akam and Rezar to get ring time ahead of a bigger program on the main roster, as they are put over strong. They got a somewhat dominate win, but Enofe & Blade did get to shine. 

New NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom walk out to confront AOP, after a sneak attack on last week’s episode. Axiom & Frazier are held back by security, but this clearly build to a tag title match. 

Gigi Dolan uses scissors to alter a dress that Arianna Grace picked out for her. This continued an angle from earlier in the show, and it seemingly appears to set up Grace and Dolan being as an odd couple team of sorts.

Ivar defeated Josh Briggs 

Ivar pinned Briggs to win what was a hoss fight. Briggs had tape on his ribs, selling an injury from last week. That would play into the match. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi is seen watching the match on a monitor backstage.

Briggs got some near falls, but he ultimately lost. His injury surely hurt his chances, which plays into the story of Ivar trying to give him advice about the injury earlier today.

Briggs takes a roundhouse kick on the floor. Ivar then rolls Briggs back into the ring, and Ivar does a moonsault press. Ivar then covers Briggs for the pin.

The announcers on commentary run down the card for night one of Spring Breakin’ next Tuesday on NXT:

  • NXT Chamoion Ilja Dragunov defends his title against Trick Williams, and Williams will leave NXT if he fails to win the championship
  • Roxanne Perez defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria in a triple threat match
  • Sol Ruca faces Blair Davenport in a no DQ “Beack Brawl”
  • No Quarter Catch Crew vs. The D’Angelo Family in a six-man tag team match
  • Contract signing for NXT Underground with Natalya and Lola Vice

A video package features the recent story between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes, ahead of their blow off match in the main event on tonight’s card. In a pre-match interview, Carmelo Hayes says the feud is over when he says so. Hayes is followed around by his personal security team.  

Big pop from the live studio audience for the entrance of Trick Williams, and chants of “whoop that trick” fill the sound stage. 

Trick Williams defeated Carmelo Hayes in a steel cage match

Williams pinned Hayes clean to win this blow off match. Not on the same level as their Stand & Deliver match, and the cage itself likely hurt the quality of the match. It was good nonetheless. 

The old school fan in me wants to bemoan a cage match so soon after Hayes and Williams’ last match, with only a one week notice no less. There also seems to be little reason for the cage, except as a gimmick match in this bitter feud. Cage matches used to mean so much more. Do not even get me started on more outside interference in this match on a card already full of such. On an unrelated note, there are kids that need to get off my lawn. 

Hayes’ security team hands him weapons like a club, which Hayes uses to pummel Williams. Later on, Williams begins a comeback after executing an avalanche Rock Bottom. Williams then fires up into a full-fledged rally.

Back and forth in the closing moments, leading into a double down. They take turns smashing each other’s face into the chain link of the cage. Hayes goes for a super bulldog off the top. Williams blocks it by landing in a pose. Williams then hits Hayes with a big kick. Hayes signals for his security to interfere, and they start trying to enter the cage. 

The heel security team is trying to climb the cage as Williams fights them off. One guy makes it into  the ring, and he has a chair. It does him no good, as Williams easily thwarts the ambush. Williams boots him out the cage door.

For the finish, Hayes picks up the chair as Williams is shutting the cage door. Williams turns around and ducks a chair shot. Williams then delivers his jumping knee finisher to the chair for a Van Daminator of sorts. Williams goes on to hooking a leg in covering Hayes for a pinfall.

Williams has a stare down with Dragunov as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Stand & Deliver go-home show

Tonight’s WWE NXT is the last stop before Stand & Deliver.

In the main event of NXT’s WrestleMania weekend special, former friends Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes are clashing in a grudge match. Williams and Hayes will meet tonight for one final face-off before Stand & Deliver.

Lyra Valkyria is defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez on Saturday afternoon. Tonight, both will appear on Supernova Sessions.

The opening match of tonight’s show will determine Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin’s NXT Tag Team title challengers for Stand & Deliver. Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson are facing off in a number one contender’s match.

NXT Champion Oba Femi will be in non-title action against Joe Gacy. Femi is defending against Dijak and Josh Briggs at Stand & Deliver.

Natalya will appear on NXT for the second straight week, accompanying Karmen Petrovic for her match against Lola Vice. Sol Ruca vs. Blair Davenport, Fallon Henley vs. Jacy Jayne, and Von Wagner vs. Lexis King are also set.

This go-home episode begins with footage of Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams separately arriving to the Performance Center in Orlando. Inside the sound stage, NXT kicks off with a triple threat tag match to determine which team challenges the champions at Stand & Deliver.

Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated LWO (Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro) and The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) in a triple threat number one contenders’ match 

Frazier pinned Del Toro to win the match. Axiom & Frazier will go on to challenge Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin for the NXT Tag Team Championship on Saturday. 

Fast-paced action and lots of high spots. Good Brothers are jumped before the bell with stereo dives that wiped them out momentarily. The beginning of the match is almost like a long highlight reel. They wrestle at a frantic pace before a split-screen commercial break, and the wild spots continue after the show returns from commercials. Seemingly, everyone was doing dives. Even Karl Anderson got in on the fun.

After a crazy corkscrew, Del Toro goes for a Phoenix Splash. No water in the pool. Good Brothers try to capitalize by executing a Magic Killer, but they were cut off by Wilde and Axiom. Those two collide into each other. Axiom them dives out of the ring with a tope on Gallows, for seemingly no reason. Wilde gets out of the ring, as Frazier is climbing the turnbuckles. Frazier leaps off into a 450 on Del Toro, and Frazier covers him for a three count. 

Kelly Kincaid interviews the challengers in the ring after their match. Axiom & Frazier vow to win the titles, as the champions look on from a perch overlooking the ring. 

Lexis King is sitting on a thrown cutting a promo on Von Wagner and Mr. Stone. King says Wagner cannot hang with him without Stone’s help. King and Wagner meet in a match later tonight.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov discovers there is a boot on his car. Two gentlemen pull up in a dark SUV, and they remark that Dragunov should have paid his parking tickets. They insist Dragunov get in the car, and they will give him a ride to dinner with Tony D’Angelo. The two guys tell Dragunov that he does not want to keep “The Don” waiting. Dragunov smirks, and he gets in the car. What a wacky title program this has been. I remember when champions arrived in a limo, but here there is a boot on his car. 

Jacy Jayne (Jazmyn Nix, Kiana James & Izzi Dame) defeated Fallon Henley (with Thea Hail & Kelani Jordan) 

They were having a pretty good match when a melee erupted at ringside. The three heels in Jayne’s corner at ringside jumped the two babyfaces in Henley’s corner. Jordan is tossed aside, and Hail is about to be assaulted when Henley comes to her rescue. Henley makes a save for Hail, and Henley cleans house on the heels. However, that allowed time for Jayne to recover. Henley gets back into the ring, and she is rocked by a knee strike. Jayne then covers Henley for a pinfall.

Jayne and her heel pals come through the Gorilla Position, and Jayne cuts a promo on Hail. NXT General Manager Ava tells Jayne to move along. As Jayne is leaving, Hail and her babyface friends come through the curtain. Hail is ranting and raving about Jayne. Ava cannot take anymore, so she books Hail against Jayne in a singles match at Stand & Deliver.

A vignette highlights the rebooting of Josh Briggs’ character. He is now a “Man of Mayhem” like he is in an outlaw motorcycle club, so he is sort of doing a biker gimmick. It is different than most everyone else on the roster, and the persona seems like a step on the right direction for Briggs. 

Lexis King defeated Von Wagner

King pinned Wagner clean. They keep pushing

Wagner shows fire at the start, but he is cut off by King. Heat on Wagner as King is in control. Comeback by Wagner. They fight on the apron, where Wagner chokeslams King on the apron’s edge. At ringside, Wagner goes to powerbomb King through the announce desk. King blocks a first attempt, and King counters a second attempt into a DDT that plants Wagner on the floor. Back in the ring, King delivers a Coronation, and he covers Wagner for a clean three count.

Ava tells Carmelo Hayes there are extra referees and security on hand in case things get out of hand. Hayes sarcastically says they need to be ready, because his personal security force will certainly be ready.

Natalya is giving Karmen Petrovic a pep talk when Roxanne Perez interrupts. Perez insults Nattie, as Perez tells her that Perez no longer needs Nattie or any of Perez’s other heroes.

In a locker room skit, Arianna Grace and Wren Sinclair bicker over Gigi Dolan getting a pageant makeover. Grace takes offense to what Sinclair says, with Grace calling it “fighting word.” It was not. Nevertheless, this sets up a match.

Lola Vice defeated Karmen Petrovic (with Natalya)

Vice submitted Pertrovic with a sharpshooter. This match was built up with an angle on social media, and it is also related to a program between Vice and Natalya. Thus, Vice uses Nattie’ own finishing hold on Nattie’s protege in front of Nattie herself. Vice is getting a serious push at the moment.

NXT Champ Ilja Dragunov arrives for his dinner with The Don. He arrives at what appears to be a warehouse. Menacing characters greet him with veiled threats. One guy is cutting drywall with a table saw. Another guy is holding a crowbar. Yet another guy is using a nail gun. They all follow Dragunov to a table with a red cloth covering it and two chairs. In walks Tony D’Angelo. To be continued…

Sueprnova Sessions with guests Roxanne Perez and NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria

Meta-Four are in the ring for Supernova Sessions, hosted by Noam Dar. Meta-Four hype up being the official hosts for Stand & Deliver. There is a couch in the middle of the ring, with two comfy chairs on either side. The challenger, Perez, and the champion, Valkyria, sit opposite each other.

Dar keeps pronouncing Perez’s first name like the song “Roxanne” by The Police. That was the main highlight for me, as these types of talking segments on a go-home show are overdone in WWE. There is even another version later in the show of a final face off. At least that one is for a hot program.

Valkyria and Perez argue back-and-forth. Valkyria gets up from her seat as she is cutting a promo on Perez. The champs says she is winning, and she tells Perez that all Perez does is bitch. Valkyria says Perez will have a whole lot to bitch about at Stand & Deliver.

Perez says she has a whole year worth of rage build up, and Perez vows to let out that rage on Saturday. Perez decks Valkyria, and Valkyria responds with a roundhouse kick. Valkyria then puts Perez through a coffee table with a Death Valley Driver. The champs stands tall and looks so strong here, I can only assume via WWE logic that she is dropping the title. We shall see.

A video package hypes Dijak. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi watches from a monitor, and Femi warns Dijak ahead of their match at Stand & Deliver. Femi then enters the sound stage for his match that is up next. 

NXT North American Champion Oba Femi  defeated Joe Gacy in a non-title match

Femi seemingly won after a referee stoppage. Gacy was injured after being tossed across the ring, and the ref stopped the match. This did not look like an angle, but no word on any official injury. Gacy would appear later in the show in a wacky skit. 

Shawn Spears ambushed Gacy during Gacy’s ring entrance. Spears hits Gacy with a chair, and Spears then taunts Gacy. This plays off a prank Gacy pulled on Spears during a previous episode of NXT.

Femi then rolls Gacy in the ring. The referee rings the bell to start the match when Gacy is able to get on his feet. Femi then attacks Gacy. Femi is pummeling Gacy until Gacy is able to execute a Saito suplex. Gacy follows up with a springboard moonsault. When Gacy goes for his finisher, he is cut off by Femi. 

Femi tosses Gacy across the ring. Gacy lands awkwardly, and the referee backs Femi away. The ref checks on Gacy, and the ref throws up the dreaded “X” sign. The ref calls for the bell, and the ring announcer calls it a no-contest. However, the ref raises Femi’s hand like he is the winner. 

Arianna Grace defeated Wren Sinclair

Grace won via pinfall with a cradle, while also illegally holding the ropes for leverage. Sinclair pleaded her case, but the ref did not see Grace breaking the rules. The match probably went too long even if it is fairly short, especially with that finish. Sinclair is not over, and Grace’s pageant queen persona is too over the top. They worked hard, regardless. 

Finally, Tony D and Dragunov sit down for their meeting/dinner. The sit-down was supposed to be a dinner, but there was no food. I was told there would be food. Anyway, the champ and his challenger cut promos on each other. 

Tony D grabs Dargunov’s injured hand (which was injured in an angle last week). Dragunov grimaces in pain as “The Don” tells Dragunov he could have him taken out at any time tonight. But, Tony D vows to do it while the whole world is watching on Saturday. 

“The Don” tells Dragunov nothing personal, it is just business. Tony D motions for a tray, and it is sat down in front of Dragunov. Tony D tells the champ to enjoy his last meal. The champ looks so weak here, and the challenger looks like a stereotypical mobster. What a title program. The production itself here was good, but the storyline is too wacky to take serious.

Sol Ruca defeated Blair Davenport 

Ruca won via a roll-up. The match is decent enough, and Ruca got to fight from underneath. She came back from an injury in real life, and she also came back from injury here to win this match. The finish does easily allow for a return bout.

Davenport rushes Ruca as the bell sounds to start the match. Ruca fires up, and the fighting spilled outside the ring. Davenport drops Ruca’s left knee (which Ruca is wearing a large brace on due to and old injury and surgery) on the metal ring steps. 

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break, and Davenport works the knee during the break. Ruca eventually counters Davenport. Ruca suplexed Davenport near the ropes, and they both go tumbling over and out. Wild spot, especially for a transition spot. 

Still selling her left knee, Ruca does a one-legged springboard with her right foot. Ruca springs off the top rope into a flying body press for a near fall. Moments later, Ruca does her top rope cartwheel spot into a swinging DDT for another near fall.

Davenport counters Ruca when Ruca went for her finisher. Davenport then executes her finisher, and Davenport goes for a cover. Ruca with a counter of her own, as she rolls up Davenport with a schoolgirl for a pinfall. 

In a backstage skit, Dijak and Josh Briggs are bickering over which one of them will win the North American Championship. In walks the champ, Oba Femi, and he vows to retain at Stand & Deliver, where the three meet in a triple threat title match.

Ava is in her office when in crawls Joe Gacy. He is selling his back, but Gacy still wants a match on Saturday with against Shawn Spears. Ava books it on the spot, and the match is official for Stand & Deliver.

Final Face-off between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes

Hayes saunters to the ring flanked by his personal security force. Williams enters and gets in the ring for the face-off. Other security surrounds them, as Williams speaks first.

Williams notes that they are the first two African American males to headline a PLE on WrestleMania weekend in a match against each other. The live studio audience inside the sound stage are hot for Williams. He is super over with them.

They are some words thrown back-and-forth, and the talking was good. Jim Valley will be pleased to know there are “because of the fans” arguments thrown around. 

Finally, Williams vows to “whoop that trick.” That sets off bedlam, and a brawl erupts. Williams and Hayes are fighting off security. They clear of the ring of security, and they square up. Hockey fight between the two, as the NXT locker room empties. Out comes others on the roster to break up the fight. The go-home show goes off the air with a pull-apart brawl.

WWE NXT live results: Wolf Dogs vs. Alpha Academy

Alpha Academy are in NXT tonight for a tag match with Stand & Deliver implications.

Akira Tozawa & Otis are facing NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin tonight. Though the belts aren’t on the line, Alpha Academy have the chance to earn a title shot with a victory. Tozawa & Otis will be added to the tag title match at NXT Stand & Deliver if they defeat Breakker & Corbin tonight.

Breakker & Corbin are set to defend against either Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, or Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson at Stand & Deliver.

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is defending against Tony D’Angelo at the WrestleMania weekend NXT event. Tonight, Dragunov takes on D’Angelo’s associate Stacks.

Shawn Spears vs. Dijak, Josh Briggs vs. Duke Hudson, Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx, and a Lola Vice open challenge have all been announced for tonight. There will also be Prime Target vignettes building up Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes for Stand & Deliver.

We’ll hear from Ridge Holland tonight as well. Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

NXT is on the air, and two enigmatic characters clash in a singles bout that opens the show from a sound stage at the Performance Center. Not sure who is the protagonist in the match, or if there is even one? Do we even need one if they proceed to have a banger?

Dijak defeated Shawn Spears

Dijak pinned Spears in a hard hitting opener. Really good match to kick off the show. 

According to commentary that accompanies the match, this match “could have North American Championship implications.” Turns out, that is about half right.

Spears on a roll when he does a plancha. Not to be outdone moments later, Dijak does a flip dive over the ropes. Slapping leather, and clubbing strikes. Dijak climbs to the top rope, and Spears jumps to the top and suplexes Dijak. 

Joe Gacy is seen crawling out from underneath the ring. Gacy grabs the metal folding chair Spears brought with him to the ring, and Gacy drags the chair under the ring. 

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. High spot as the come break from break, Dijak leaps off the top rope with a flying clothesline.

They go on to trade strikes. Dijak punishes Spears with hard overhand chops. Dijak in a focused rage, but Spears has counters. They trade near falls. “Fight forever” chants from the live studio audience. Also, some “NXT” chants from the crowd.

Dijak springboards into a flying elbow drop, but no water in the pool. Spears goes to grab the chair he brought with him earlier, but it is no where to be found. Gacy had stolen it.

Spears gets caught on an attempted flying ax handle, and Spears takes a sit-down choke bomb from Dijak. Spears gets a shoulder up at two and three quarters. 

For the finish, Dijak delivers a kick set up Feast Your Eyes. After Dijak executes his finisher, he covers Spears for a three count.

Roxanne Perez is the focus of a vignette where she looks back at her babyface persona, and she is now detests that version of herself. Even if she is likely miscast as a heel, Perez plays the character well. She challenges for the NXT Women’s title at NXT Stand & Deliver.

Thea Hail (with Riley Osborne, Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) defeated Jazmyn Nyz (with Jacy Jayne)

Hail submitted Nyz, despite blatant interference by Jacy Jayne. A brawl afterwards appears to set up a women’s trios match.

Nyz got a lot of offense. Jayne was a distraction at ringside at ringside. She stole the Chase U towel from Chase, and Jayne threw it into the ring, as if someone from Hail’s corner was throwing in the towel. Osborne rushed into the ring and caught the towel, as the towel has to land on the mat to count. The referee then ejects Chase U from ringside for interfering in the match. 

Jayne then gets on the apron, and Hail screams at her about them once being friends. Jayne slaps Hail, and somehow the ref did not see it. Nyz goes for a roll-up, but Hail counters the schoolgirl. Hail locks in an kimura, and Nyz taps out. 

Jayne jumps Hail after the match. Jayne is stomping on Hail as Kaina James and Izzi Dame also rush into the ring  Dame and James hold Hail for Jayne to deliver strikes. Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan run down to even the odds. Hail soon joins the other two babyfaces in cleaning house on the heels. The post-match brawl and angle would appear to set up a six-woman tag team match.

Up next is a great video package hyping the upcoming grudge match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes. The hype video even had clips of main roster stars commenting on the bout, including Randy Orton and CM Punk.

A commercial advertised the NXT: Next Gen reality show.

Natalya defeated Lola Vice

Nattie makes a surprise appearance on NXT, and Nattie goes on to pin Vice in a very competitive match. 

The story going in was Vice issued an open challenge with a tweet. The open challenge is probably one of the most overdone plot devices in wrestling these days. Regardless, Vice cut a strong promo in the ring before the match began. Nattie answers the open challenge in a surprise appearance, and Nattie cuts a promo of her own on Vice. The brawl as the match gets underway.

Vice is in control as the match goes through a commercial break. Natalya comes back after the show returns from the break. They both go for submission holds. 

Out comes Karmen Pertrovic, who has issues with Vice. Nattie soon makes a comeback, and she looks to apply a sharpshooter. Vice counters into a roll-up, but Nattie responds by going for an armbar. Nattie goes on to duck a strike, and Nattie uses an O’Connor Roll to score a pinfall. 

An upset Shawn Spears is leaving the building. From above, Joe Gacy appears on a roof with the chair he stole from Spears. Gacy throws the chair down, and laughs manically. NXT North American Champion Oba Femi comes into frame and he stomps on the chair. Gacy laughs manically some more. Much like any segment with Gacy these days, I have far more questions than answers.

Sol Ruca is the focus of a video package, which hypes a match between Ruca and Blair Davenport. This plays off an injury angle based on a real injury to Ruca. 

Davenport is interviewed with Kelly Kincaid, and Davenport cuts a promo on Ruca. 

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo in a non-title match

Dragunov pinned Stacks after Torpedo Moscow. Dragunov sold his hand during the match, as Stacks stomped on Dragunov’s fingers. Undaunted, Dragunov makes a comeback to win the match.

Lorenzo’s cohorts in The Family purposely stayed away from ringside, but Stacks was still there to soften up Dragunov ahead of Tony D’Angelo challenging for the title at Stand & Deliver. So, Stacks targeted the hand. 

“The Don” and Lucio Crusifino watched the match from a monitor backstage. After the bout is over, Tony D tells Crusifino to invite Dragunov to a special dinner. 

In a great video package continued from earlier in the show, Trick Williams returns to Philadelphia to see his uncle James, who Trick calls “Sweet Baby James”. Williams cuts a promo with his uncle, and Williams talks about Philly being a special place for him. This hyped up Williams-Hayes at Stand & Deliver, and it included more clips of CM Punk breaking down the match. Great stuff here.

The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) confront NXT Tag Team Champions Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker) in a locker room skit. 

Ridge Holland is in the ring for a monologue, where he announces he is stepping away from in-ring competition. The ring is darkly lit, as Holland stands solemnly, yet well dressed in a suit jacket. Holland begins by thanking Marty Jones, William Regal, Shawn Michaels, the other producers, and the talent. 

Holland says as been hesitant lately, and a step off. He cannot in good conscience risk hurting his self or someone else. Holland acknowledges he is aware of the perception about him.

Whether the whispers and comments about him after true or not, they had an affect on the man behind Ridge Holland. He is tired of taking his work home, and he wants to get a good father and husband for his family. Therefore, Holland announces he is indefinitely stepping away from in-ring competition. 

Another great hype video focuses on NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria defending her title against Roxanne Perez at Stand & Deliver.

Josh Briggs defeated Duke Hudson

Briggs pinned Hudson after a clothesline from hell. This was basically a showcase for Briggs, and it set up an angle afterwards. That will lead to a triple threat title match at Stand & Deliver.

Dijak is at the announce desk for guest commentary, and he buries both guys. That match itself goes through a commercial break. 

Hudson takes a superplex from Brigg. That targetes Hudson’s back, which he sold throughout the match. Briggs also rammed Hudson into the ring steps before the commercial break, further targeting the back.

Briggs climbs the turnbuckles, but he is cut off and powerbombed by Hudson. Nevertheless, Briggs cuts off Hudson, Briggs then delivers a Stan Hansen lariat. Briggs covers Hudson for a pinfall.

After the match is over, Dijak leaves the announce booth. He climbs on the apron and has a stare down with Briggs. Suddenly, Oba Femi’s theme music blares over the house speakers. The North American Champion is then seen overlooking he ring from a perch. 

Femi cuts a poor promo, where Femi basically announces a triple threat match at Stand & Deliver. Femi defends the North American title against Dijak and Briggs. 

More for the hype video building up Williams-Hayes at Stand & Deliver. A written recap would not do these hype videos justice. The hype videos should be seen. Good stuff.

Next Tuesday on the go-home episode, Williams and Hayes have a final face-off ahead of their grudge match at Stand & Deliver.

Meta-Four have commandeered a produce truck they are the NWO. Noam Dar and company then announce they are the official hosts for Stand & Deliver. 

NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov is delivered an invitation to attend the meeting with Tony D’Angelo. This was a campy skit. 

NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Akira Tozawa & Otis in a non title match

Breakker pinned Tozawa to win the match. They shattered an announce desk, among other high spots, to give this bout the pop it needed to make it worthwhile. They succeeded in that.

Breakker was explosive at times, but at first this match seemed like somewhat of a letdown compared to other bouts on the show. Was I ever wrong about that. The match came around in the end, and it ended on a hot note. 

The tag title match went through a split-screen commercial break. It builds to a hot tag that brings in Otis. Alpha Academy rallies, but Breakker counters them in a feat of strength. 

Breakker is in a electric chair when Tozawa leaps off the top rope with a crossbody. Breakker catches Tozawa, and turns it into an avalanche powerslam. Highlight reel high spot right there.

Corbin & Breakker go on to double team Otis, and they powerbomb Otis through the announce desk. The desk crumbles, and the studio audience pops huge. “Holy s****” chants are bleeped out on the USA Network.

Back in the ring, Tozawa is alone against Wolf Dogs. Corbin blocks a hurricanrana, and Corbin powerbombs Tozawa. Breakker follows up with a spear on Tozawa, and Breakker covers him for a the deciding pinfall.

LWO appears after the match, as does Gallows & Anderson. There is a brief stare down, as LWO and the Good Brothers close in on the a ring. A brawl erupts as Nathan Frazier & Axiom also rush into the ring. The show ends with a big melee in the ring. 

WWE NXT live results: Tony D’Angelo addresses Ilja Dragunov

The road to Stand & Deliver continues on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT.

The WrestleMania weekend NXT special is now less than three weeks away. In advance of their NXT Championship match in Philadelphia, Tony D’Angelo is set to address Ilja Dragunov tonight.

A grudge match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes has now been made official for Stand & Deliver. Tonight, Williams will be in action against Noam Dar. It’s Williams’ first match since Hayes betrayed him at Vengeance Day.

Last week, the LWO’s Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro earned their place in an upcoming triple threat number one contender’s tag match. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger and Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs. No Quarter Catch Crew on tonight’s show will determine the other two teams.

Also announced for tonight: Riley Osborne challenges for the Heritage Cup, Tatum Paxley takes on Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca is back in action against Brinley Reece, and we’ll hear from NXT North American Champion Oba Femi.

– After the WWE signature open, we went straight to Roxanne Perez entering the WWE Performance Center and our opening match, as Vic Joseph welcomed us to the show.

Roxanne Perez defeated Tatum Paxley

As Paxley tried to run into the ring, Perez attacked her outside the ring and threw her inside to start the match. Paxley fought out of Perez’s initial attack and began to take the fight to her.

In the ring, Perez caught Paxley with a modifed arm drag, then continuing to work over the arm of Paxley. Perez snapped Paxley’s arm back to get a near fall. Paxley responded with some strikes of her own while favoring her hurt arm. Enzuigiri by Paxley staggered Perez, as she followed it up with a modified powerslam. 

Perez whipped Paxley into the corner, arm-first. She then got Pop Rox on Paxley, then ending this match with a Crossface as Paxley had no choice but to tap.

After the match, Perez got the mic and called out NXT General Manager Ava to give her the NXT Women’s Title opportunity she deserved. Instead, the NXT Womens’ Champion Lyra Valkyria ran out and tried to throw hands with Perez.

A momentary unintentional distraction by Paxley allowed Perez to seize the opportunity and lock in the Crossface on Valkyria. Perez then posed with the NXT Women’s Title over the fallen Valkyria.

Good short match that helped further establish Roxanne Perez’s new heel character and her driven obsession for the NXT Women’s Title. Tatum Paxley’s well-meaning assistance backfiring certainly adds to the story of whether or not Lyra Valkyria trusts well enough.

– Backstage, Meta-Four were discussing Noam Dar’s upcoming match with Trick Williams. The group was then interrupted by Alpha Academy’s Akira Tozawa, Otis, and Maxxine. Otis made a remark about Lash Legend, stating that he was “jelly of Trick Willy”, which made Meta Four leave the scene.

– As a doctor was tending to Lyra Valkyria’s hurt arm, NXT GM Ava visited her. Valkyria cut to the chase and asked Ava to make the match for NXT Stand & Deliver: Lyra Valkyria versus Roxanne Perez. Ava agreed as Valkyria walked off.

Josh Briggs calls out Oba Femi

Briggs showed up at the commentary desk and challenged Oba Femi for taking out his best friend Brooks Jensen, and doing so with a smile.

Femi immediately showed up, mic in hand. He said that he relished the idea of testing a man’s limits, because in the ring, the only thing that matters is results. Briggs interrupted Femi and questioned his claims of being the “baddest dude in NXT”, demanding that Femi put his North American Championship on the line.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” said Femi.

Dijak made his way to the ring, reminding Femi that once he was “done playing around”, he was waiting for him. Briggs cut Dijak off, calling him “wannabe Shaft”, much to Dijak’s dismay.

Femi said that this wasn’t about either Briggs or Dijak, it was about him, and everyone else. Briggs shoved Dijak into Femi as a brawl broke out. Femi clotheslined Briggs out of the ring as Dijak countered an attemped back drop by Femi.

– Shawn Spears was backstage watching a screen. He said that “pride always comes before a fall”, walking off afterwards. Unbeknownst to him, Joe Gacy peered from the background, laughing.

– We got a recap of Trick Williams challenging Carmelo Hayes to a match at NXT Stand & Deliver. They showed Carmelo Hayes arriving to the Performance Center, accompanied by his security detail.

Tag Team Qualifying Match: Axiom & Nathan Frazer defeated Myles Borne & Charlie Dempsey

Myles Borne & Charlie Dempsey were the chosen representatives for the NQCC.

Dempsey and Axiom started off the match, as Dempsey had control, right up until Frazer was tagged in. Frazer hit a nice kick on Dempsey and took it to him with a sustained offense. Borne tagged in and Frazer continued to control the pace of the match with repeated arm drags.

Tag to Axiom as Frazer sends Borne to the outside. Axiom and Frazer hit alternating dives on Borne and Dempsey outside the ring. With the action back in the ring, Dempsey took back momentum with a counter of an Axiom pin attempt into a fantastic German suplex. Axiom sent to the outside right in front of Dempsey’s NQCC teammates as the action continued into the picture-in-picture commercial break.

As NXT returned live, Axiom and Dempsey were fighting it out. Bridging fallaway slam by Dempsey got a two-count. Axiom fought out of Dempsey’s submission as the two began a hard chop exchange.

Hot tag to Frazer, who took Borne and Dempsey down with a double dropkick. Running shooting star by Frazer on Borne almost got the win for him and Axiom.

Phoenix Splash avoided by Borne. Attempted springboard dive by Frazer countered into a catching powerslam that was only a near-fall. Alternating tags by Axiom and Frazer as Axiom hit an avalanche Spanish Fly, followed by Frazer landing the Phoenix Splash on Borne. Axiom with the Golden Ratio to intercept Dempsey as Frazer pinned Borne to bring his team one step closer to an NXT Tag Title shot.

Fantastic, fast-paced match to help get the Performance Center crowd hyped, with well-earned “this is awesome” chants. The team of Frazer and Axiom compliment their styles well and their offense is just so enjoyable to watch. Dempsey’s technical style continues to get better with every match and it was a nice to get a glimpse of it here.

– After a recap of Mr. Stone versus Lexis King last week on NXT, we got video from NXT Anonymous showing Stone arguing with Von Wagner, upset about being carried by him following King’s beatdown.

– NXT Tag Champions Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker were interviewed about the continuing NXT Tag Team Contenders tournament. Breakker joked that Corbin was mad about paying for dinner last night. Alpha Academy showed up and said that they wanted to earn their place at Stand & Deliver. They challenged Corbin & Breakker to a match next week, where if they win, they’d be added to the NXT Tag Title match at Stand & Deliver. Breakker accepted on his team’s behalf.

Sol Ruca defeated Brinley Reece (with Edris Enofe & Malik Blade)

Ruca started off with some impressive acrobatics, which prompted Reece to answer with a cartwheel of her own. Reece with a headlock that Ruca fought out of. Acrobatic flip by Ruca led into an X-Factor for the two.

Reece with the clotheslines on Ruca and a scoopslam. Ruca slammed Reece an middle-rope avalanche flip as she began to take over.  Sol Snatcher by Ruca brought this match to an end.

Post-match, Blair Davenport attacked Ruca from behind, laying her out with a Kamigoye knee.

A good match to establish Ruca back into the fold, and the post-match attack by Davenport should lead to a Stand & Deliver match.

– Backstage, Gigi Dolin & Wren Sinclair discussed Gigi’s match with Ariana Grace last week. Grace showed up and brought out a sash that said “Miss NXT in Training”, and forced her to wear it, much to Dolin’s dismay.

– An Instagram video from Ridge Holland was shown, discussing his future.

Tony D’Angelo addresses Ilja Dragunov

Tony D’Angelo came out to the ring, flanked by his Family.

He started by saying that he will get his big opportunity at Stand & Deliver, boasting that the D’Angelo Family is in a period of aggressive growth and expansion. He introduced Luca Crusifino and boasted his legal successes, calling him his new “consigliere.”

Crusafino got the mic to say he pledged his loyalty to the D’Angelo Family.

D’Angelo once again talked about how he’s the one man who will break the unbreakable, before Ilja Dragunov interrupted on the titantron.

Dragunov talked about how D’Angelo left him alone on a bridge last week with his thoughts, declaring that the NXT Title is the one power that will be beyond his reach.

D’Angelo cut off Dragunov, saying that he doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation, mentioning that he got Ava to book a match next week with Stacks Lorenzo versus Dragunov. D’Angelo announced that Dragunov may not make it to Stand & Deliver in one piece, stating that he’ll see him next week.

– Riley Osborne was shown training for his Heritage Cup match up next, as Thea Hail showed up and apologized for her behavior on their date last month. Osborne accepted Hail’s apology and headed out, with Hail and Chase U following him.

– They showed TikTok videos from Lola Vice & Karmen Petrovic showing off their karate skills.

Heritage Cup Match: Drew Gulak defeated Riley Osborne to retain

Drew Gulak will represent NQCC in this matchup.

The first round began with Gulak and Osborne locking it up in the ring. Osborne escaped out of Gulak’s hold and hit a running crossbody on him. Lots of back and forth action as the round hit the final minute.

In the dying minute of round one, Osborn hti a Shooting Star Press to pick up the first fall.

As the second round started, Gulak left the ring, only to be confronted by Chase U. This gave Osborne the opening to hit a dive to the outside on Gulak. Back in the ring, Osborne continued the attack on Gulak. Dueling rollups by Gulak and Osborne get near falls, but in the end, Gulak tied it up with a pin with about 1:36 left in round two. Cheap shot by Gulak after the fall causes a bit of a scuffle as we headed to a picture-in-picture commercial break.

NXT returned with round three almost done as Gulak and Osborne were at a standstill. Osborne’s top rope move was caught into a submission by Gulak, who turned that submission into a Gu-Lock. Osborne held on just long enough for the round to expire.

A replay of Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx showing up during the picture in picture break to cause trouble was shown.

Round four began with Osborne hitting a nice rolling hurricanrana for the near fall. More dueling pinfall attempts from each men also net near falls. Osborne and Gulak are in a deadlock as the time winded down on round four.

Osborne got Gulak up on the top rope as Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail got into it, with the action spilling into the ring. Osborne’s attempted superplex was stopped by Jazmyn Nyx, who tripped up Osborne while the referee was distracted to give Gulak the victory.

I enjoyed this match. Osborne showed some nice potential, and Gulak is always a pleasure to watch, even if the No Quarter Catch Crew gimmick isn’t exactly one to write home about.

– Brooks Jensen was shown walking outside the infamous NXT parking lot, as Fallon Henley talked to him. Jensen was mad about people taking pity on him before leaving. Kelani Jordan then appeared, angry about Izzi Dame and Kiana James supposedly attacking her. Henley offered to assist Jordan against Dam and James.

– Backstage, Ava was on the phone before Duke Hudson & Thea Hail confronted her. Ava told Hail that as a result of Jazmyn Nyx’s actions in the earlier match, she will face Nyx next week on NXT. Ava then talked to Hudson, stating that he’ll also be in action next week, and that a win next week will mean good things for Hudson in the North American Title picture.

Tag Team Qualifying Match: Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defeated Tank Ledger & Hank Walker

The match was joined in progress with both teams brawling in the ring. Once things settled, Walker & Anderson were the legal men as the match continued.

Suplex by Walker got a one-count. Anderson retreated to his corner and tagged Gallows in. Now it’s Gallows in control momentarily, as he punched Walker on the top rope, sending him crashing outside. Gallows threw Walker around the barricade and apron before sending him back to the ring. 

Gallows worked over Walker in his corner, then flooring him with a nasty clothesline. Tag to Anderson as Walker began to fight back a bit until Anderson regained control. 

The Good Brothers still had Walker isolated from Tank Ledger, with back and forth tags and offense. Walker finally created an opening with a kick to Gallows, and then the headbutt to Anderson. Hot tag to Tank Ledger as the big man finally got into the match.

Nice double team catch and toss by Walker and Ledger almost got the win, but the pin was interrupted. Running powerslam interrupted as Gallows pulled Walker outside, leaving Ledger alone for the Magic Killer by Gallows & Anderson. And they advance to the Triple Threat Qualifier.

A hard hitting match, but not something I could fully get behind with. Might just be because these two teams don’t really have that much of a chemistry with each other. There’s at least room for improvement on Walker and Ledger’s end.

– Kelly Kincaid was backstage with Trick Williams. She asked him about his thoughts on the upcoming match with Noam Dar. Trick said that he was ready for Noam Dar’s challenge and that if Carmelo Hayes showed his face, he’d whoop his ass again.

– Izzi Dame & Kiana James were talking with Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx briefly, before Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan attacked Dame & James. NXT referees separated the two.

– Scheduled for next week’s NXT: Thea Hail vs. Jazmyn Nyx, Ilja Dragunov vs. Channing “Stacks Lorenzo”, Alpha Academy vs. Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin, Duke Hudson vs. Josh Briggs, and Shawn Spears vs. Dijak.

Trick Williams defeated Noam Dar

Booker T went crazy for Trick’s entrance and the fans chanting “Whoop that Trick!”

Scoop slams by Williams’ on Dar started the match off. Dar caught Williams’ foot for an ankle lock attempt, but he fought out of it. Armbar by Dar is turned into a pin attempt by Williams, who kicked out.

Backfist from Dar is followed by a guillotine submission on Williams, but the strength of Trick was too much. Fierce uppercut by Williams flattened Dar soon after. On the corner, Dar took Williams off his feet with a kick. Now it’s Dar on the offense with a hard dropkick for the two-count.

A picture-in-picture cut in showed Carmelo Hayes’ door, with the private security detail knocking on the door.

Back in the ring, as Williams won the tug-of-war between he and Dar, following that up with a pop-up uppercut to send Dar scurrying to the outside. Final picture-in-picture commercial break of the night upcoming.

Returning to live action, Williams threw Dar down with a powerbomb, but that only got a two-count. Dar and Williams began to trade blows, with Dar winning out in the end. Leaping forearm clothesline by Williams stopped Dar’s momentum.

Dar countered a spinebuster into a DDT, but that only netted a near-fall. Ankle lock by Dar, but Williams reaches the rope to break the hold.

Williams got a Book End out of nowhere on Dar to begin his own flurry of offense. Lash Legend got on the apron, which distracted Williams long enough to get felled by a German suplex and back elbow combo from Dar for the very close near-fall.

Dar in the corner, but his attempt at a finish is stopped by Williams’ Trick Shot knee for the one, two, three.

Post-match, Williams got on the mic and immediately challenged Carmelo Hayes to fight him right now. Hayes’ personal security detail showed up and surrounded the ring, with Hayes himself soon following. But “Carmelo Hayes” on the ramp is a decoy, as the real Hayes unmasked as one of the security detail. He attacked Williams and had the remaining security hold him up, before finishing Williams with his running knee. NXT concluded with Hayes talking trash to a downed Williams as the crowd booed his dastardly attack.

Overall, an entertaining NXT that continues to finalize the Stand & Deliver card nicely. The main event Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes feud is an intense one, and I enjoyed the closing angle with Hayes getting the upper hand on Trick with some trickery of his own. Their match at Stand & Deliver is one deserving of a stipulation, and hopefully we get one announced soon.

Heel Roxanne Perez is a success so far and she is killing it as an entitled heel willing to go any lengths to get the title she never lost back. Her eventual match with Lyra Valkyria at Stand & Deliver should be great.

I’m interested in seeing Tony D’Angelo potentially transition into a more ruthless mob boss character, and bringing that aspect out against Ilja Dragunov will only help heat this title feud up even more.

The mini-tournament to decide the NXT Tag Team Championship challengers has been fun and the triple threat between LWO, Axiom & Nathan Frazer, and the Good Brothers should be quite entertaining.

Lots to enjoy from tonight’s edition of NXT for sure.

WWE NXT Roadblock live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tony D’Angelo

On the road to WrestleMania weekend, a special edition of WWE NXT takes place tonight.

Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo are set to face off in a number one contender’s match on tonight’s NXT Roadblock. The winner earns an NXT Championship shot against Ilja Dragunov at Stand & Deliver next month.

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) are in NXT for a WWE Women’s Tag Team title defense against Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley. The winning team will defend their titles against Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark on Raw next Monday.

That isn’t the only Tag Team title match scheduled for tonight. NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin will put their belts on the line against Chase U.

One week after making his return, Shawn Spears will be in action. An Asylum match between Dijak and Joe Gacy has also been announced.

This supercard edition of NXT opens with an introductory video package, hosted by Lexis King. He is driving a sports car, and he uses a lot of automobile metaphors relating to the show being called “Roadblock”. King, along with video highlights, run down the top matches on the card.

Kicking off the show is an “Asylum” cage match from a soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. It is basically a weapons-filled cage match, and “asylum” is an apparent reference to whatever Joe Gacy’s character is supposed to be. 

Dijak defeated Joe Gacy in an Asylum (cage) match

I still do not understand the Gacy character, but this was still a heckuva match. Lots of weapons and such, so this might not be everyone’s cup of tea. Yet, it is not ultra-violent or bloody like some hardcore matches. 

Inside the cage are gimmicks that include a chair, table, door, fire extinguisher, kendo stick, straitjacket, and a mystery box of some sort with “DO NOT OPEN” stenciled on the side. The box was a Looney Tunes gag. Dijak opens the lid, and a boxing glove on a spring hits Dijak in the gut. That gag led into a near fall for Gacy, but Dijak kicks out just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Just before the show returns from the break, Gacy craters a trash can with a Nestea Plunge. When the show does return from break, Dijak is climbing the cage. Dijak then does a moonsault off the top of the cage. Big pop, a near fall, and a “holy s***” chants follow. 

Dijak puts the straitjacket on Gacy, but Gacy still fights back even with his arms restrained behind his back. The tease a superplex, but it was instead Dijak’s turn to take a Nestea Plunge in a bit of an irony. The heel falls backwards through a table he set up. Gacy follows up with a senton bomb for another near fall.

Gacy escapes the straitjacket, only to be leveled with a lariat. Dijak takes duct tape, and he tapes over Gacy’s head so that he is blind. Dijak uses a kendo stick to assault a seemingly helpless Gacy, but Gacy fights back. Gacy takes the kendo away from Dijak and hit him with it. Dijak tosses Gacy through a door propped up in a corner. I was seen doors used like this on the indies, but not sure I have ever seen it in a WWE ring. 

Gacy kicks out of a near fall, and Dijak responds by executing Feast Your Eyes. Dijak then covers Gacy for the deciding pinfall. 

In a locker room skit with The Family, Tony D’Angelo asks Luca Crusifino to be his consigliere. Crusifino agrees.

A different skit sets up a match a match for later on between Fallon Henley and Blair Davenport. 

NXT Tag Team Champions Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin defeated Chase U (Duke Hudson & Andre Chase with Thea Hail, Jacy Jayne, Jazmyn Nyz & Riley Osborne) to retain their titles

Breakker pinned Chase, in what was another good match on this show. An angry Thea Hail stormed off after the match for some reason. Later in the show, Hail has a pull-apart screaming match with Kiana James and Izzi Dame. 

The champs start out strong, but Chase U has a rally before the match goes through a commercial break. The tide turns during the break. Breakker does a Super Frankensteiner, and Chase takes a big bump for it. 

The “Wolf Dogs” work over Chase, but Chase still kicks out for a near fall. Hot tag to Hudson, and he runs wild. The champs bump and feed, until they make a bling tag. Hudson counters before he can be blindsided. Chase & Hudson do a Gory Special/Flatliner combo for a two count on Corbin.

Breakker jumps off the apron with a flying clothesline that sends Hudson tumbling over the announce desk. Meanwhile, Corbin is seemingly in control of Chase in the ring. Not for long, as Chase counters Corbin. High cross by Chase for a two count on Corbin.

For the finish, Corbin gives Chase a Deep Six, and Breakker follows with a spear. Breakker then covers Chase for a three count. Wolf Dogs retain. 

In a backstage interview, Carmelo Hayes puts over his personal security force. Hayes vows to beat D’Angelo tonight, and then go on to win the NXT title.

Shawn Spears defeated Uriah Connors

Spears pinned Connor after a C4. This was a short enhancement match to showcase the returning Spears. The “10” gimmick is long gone, but Spears does bring his chair gimmick from AEW. However, he still does not play it like a guitar like La Parka in WCW. That to me is a real shame. 

Rather, Spears’ character is more serious. He cuts a promo after the match, and he name drops Ridge Holland. That looks to be Spears’ first program in NXT since his return. Spears almost flubbed some lines, but he recovers. He is supposed to be brooding I guess, since they used a split lighting technique on his face. 

Holland comes out to confront Spears, and they brawl. Holland pummels Spears, and Spears slides his metal folding chair over to Holland. Spears then dares Holland to hit him with the chair. This plays on Spears’ promo, where he likened himself to a mirror that exposing people for what the really are inside.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane & Asuka) defeated Tatum Paxley & NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria to retain their titles

Sane pinned Paxley to win the match. Another solid bout on the show. Roxanne Perez runs in after the match to attack Valkyria. 

With tandem moves, Asuka & Sane showcase why they are such a good team. The challengers rally just before the match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

They did some good near falls. Valkyria has to calm down Paxley at one point for being too aggressive. Later on, Valkyria inadvertently roundhouse kicks Paxley. Valkyria then walks into a back fist from Sane, and Valkyria takes a bump out of the ring. That leaves Paxley alone against the Kabuki Warriors. They do their slop drop/elbow drop combo finish, and Sane covers Paxley for a pinfall. The champs retain.

Roxanne Perez storms into the ring after the match, and she jumps Valkyria. Perez targets Valkyria arm. Valkyria sells big, and she is posted shoulder first. Perez then stomps on the arm while Valkyria is draped in the ropes. That leads to an injury angle, as a stretcher is brought out for Valkyria. She leaves the building in an ambulance.

Fallon Henley defeated Blair Davenport

Henley wins via pinfall, after interference by a returning Sol Ruca. That is an odd way to get Henley over as a babyface, but whatever. Henley does have new theme music that reminds of all the bad bro country songs on country music radio. Although, I admittedly might not be hip to what is a cool country song these days. 

Davenport works an arm during the match, which might have been more effective in getting heat if we had not just seen an injury angle based on the same premise. Nonetheless, Henley makes a comeback. They take turns crashing into the ring steps as the fighting spills onto the floor. 

Sol Ruca make a surprise return as she is perched on the barricade. Ruca does a cartwheel into a DDT on Davenport. Ruca then rolls Davenport into the ring, and Henley hits Davenport with a shining wizard. Henley then covers Davenport for a three count.

Thea Hail has a tag match booked next week against Kiana James & Izzi Dame, based on a skit from earlier in the show. Hail wants Jacy Jayne to be her partner, but Jayne says she is busy next week.

A goofy skit with NXT General Manager Ava, Gigi Dolan and Arianna Grace sets up a future match between Grace and Dolan. Grace will only agree to a bout if a stipulation is added to their grudge match. If Dolan loses, Grace gets to give her a makeover. Dolan accepts the stip. 

Shawn Spears has a cryptic threat for Ridge Holland in a backstage interview. The match is later made official for next Tuesday on NXT. 

No Quarter Catch Crew is in the ring to celebrate Charlie Dempsey having won the Heritage Cup. Dempsey is joined by Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp and Myles Borne. They reveal that although Dempsey won the Cup, the “Catch clause” stipulates that any member of No Quarter Catch Crew can defend the Cup in a match. This is basically a take off of Freebird rules. 

Drew Gulak also announces they are entered in the upcoming tag team elimination tournament.

Suddenly, William Regal interrupts the Crew. Big pop for Regal for the live studio audience. They also welcome him back with chants. The crowd then starts a “that’s your father” chant directed at Dempsey, since Regal is his shoot father. Regal no sells that chant.

Regal talks about how personally he takes the Cup. Dempsey tells Regal he will defend the Cup “better than you ever could.” Regal smirks, and says he will be watching them.

The former Cup holder, Noam Dar, is in the Meta-Four lounge. He apparently has not spoken since losing the Cup. Lash Legend tries to comfort him. Dar suddenly snaps out of it, and he says the past is behind them. Dar talks about looking to the future. This was a silly skit, but it at least gave Meta-Four a new direction.

Mr. Stone is watching video of a promo Lexis King cut on social media. Von Wagner vows to smash King, but Stone tells Wager that Stone’s beef with King is personal. Stone asks Wagner to fight King alone, without Wagner in his corner. 

Tony D’Angelo defeated Carmelo Hayes in a number one contender’s match

D’Angelo pinned Hayes, after a Hayes was distracted by Trick Williams theme song. Williams himself would return in angle that followed the match. The bout itself was somewhat lackluster for a main event, but it set the stage for Williams’ return. The show would end with the crowd going wild for Williams.  

In the match, Hayes works over “The Don” as the match goes through a commercial break. Hayes works an arm, which is the third time we see that kind of strategy on this show. Could be a tribute of sorts to Ole Anderson, but it was nevertheless overdone on this card.

They trade near falls. Hayes makes a cocky cover after hitting his “First 48” finishing move. D’Angelo kicks out, much to the chagrin of Hayes. Climbing the turnbuckles, Hayes appears to set up for his guillotine finisher. 

With Hayes perched on the top rope, cue Trick Williams’ entrance theme. Big pop from the live studio audience as Williams’ theme plays. The crowd chants “whoop that trick,” while Hayes’ personal security force awaits Williams’ arrival. However, it was swerve meant to fool Hayes. 

A distracted Hayes is given a pop-up spinebuster by D’Angelo. The Don then executes his twisting neckbreaker for the finsih. D’Angelo hooks a leg and covers D’Angelo for the deciding pinfall. 

The Don cuts a promo after the match, basically saying he has a “gift” for Hayes after deceiving him in the match. That gift was the actual return of Trick Williams.

Hayes’ security force is waiting for Williams to come down the ramp. Instead. Williams comes out of the crowd on the opposite side of the ring, and Williams slides into the ring. Williams jumps Hayes. The security teams tries to intervene, to no avail. Williams is a house of fire. He cleans house and clears the ring, all while the studio audience is going wild. Hot ending for the show.
