WWE schedules NXT Great American Bash for very busy pro wrestling date

Three major professional wrestling shows are set to take place on June 28.

AEW Forbidden Door and TNA Slammiversary were already scheduled for that date — and it’s now been announced that NXT Great American Bash is also happening on that Sunday. Great American Bash will go head-to-head with Forbidden Door, while Slammiversary avoids direct competition due to its afternoon start time.

Great American Bash begins at 7 p.m. Eastern time on June 28. It’s the first NXT PLE that will air live on The CW as part of a new multi-year PLE deal between the sides. The CW already airs NXT every week and is now carrying PLEs on its broadcast channel as well.

“Everybody’s been asking me, ‘When is the first PLE on The CW Network?’ Well, that’s what this announcement is for. June 28, CW Network and NXT are going to bring you Great American Bash,” NXT boss Shawn Michaels announced. “This partnership is moving forward and the Great American Bash on June 28 will have a special start time of 7 p.m.”

Peacock was previously home to these NXT events, but that deal expired prior to Stand & Deliver 2026, which aired on YouTube while WWE was still working out where NXT PLEs would land.

Great American Bash, Forbidden Door & Slammiversary details —

A location for Great American Bash was not mentioned in today’s announcement, so it will presumably be held at the WWE Performance Center. Forbidden Door and Slammiversary are respectively taking place in San Jose, California and Boston, Massachusetts.

The listed start time for Forbidden Door ticket holders is the same as Great American Bash (7 p.m. Eastern), while Slammiversary is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

WWE Night of Champions is set for this weekend as well, with that PLE happening in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, June 27.

A grudge match between Je’Von Evans and Jasper Troy has also been added to Saturday’s GAB card. Troy laid out Evans in a backstage segment on Tuesday’s show, then Evans retaliated as Troy took to the ring to issue a challenge for the Bash.

Update on WWE NXT Great American Bash start time

NXT Great American Bash and AEW All In: Texas are officially set to air head-to-head against each other.

It was already known that both shows would be taking place on the afternoon of Saturday, July 12, but a start time for the NXT PLE had not been announced. Now, WWE is listing a start time of 2:30 p.m. Eastern for ticket holders, likely meaning that the broadcast will begin at 3 p.m. Eastern. That’s the same start time as All In.

Great American Bash is being held at Center Stage in Atlanta as one of three WWE events the city is hosting that weekend. Later in the evening on July 12 after Great American Bash, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event will be held at State Farm Arena. That venue will then host WWE’s all-women’s Evolution PLE the next night.

No matches for the Great American Bash PLE have been announced yet.

Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas is the venue for All In. Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page for the AEW World Championship and Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Mone for the AEW Women’s World Championship are already official for the pay-per-view.

AEW and NXT also went head-to-head last weekend with Double or Nothing happening on the same night as Battleground.

Week two of Great American Bash begins with a recap of the first week. Highlights from last Tuesday showed results of the top matches and angles.

Opening the show is men’s singles match from a sound stage at the Performance Center, and NXT is taped in front of a live studio audience. The top star of the NXT brand, Trick Williams, is set for a singles match against Pete Dunne, who is a main roster wrestler with a previous history in NXT.

Pete Dunne defeated Trick Williams

Dunne pinned Williams clean in a really good match. As a pure wrestling match, this was one of Trick’s best. He drops the fall, which could easily lead to a return match.

Williams overpowers Dunne early on, until Dunne takes him down. Dunne goes to work with joint locks. Ground and pound and a triangle applied by Dunne, but Trick powers out with a dead lift into a powerbomb. They go on to trade stiff chops like this was Ronnie Garvin against Greg Valentine.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. The show goes into the break after Tricks counters a springboard into a neckbreaker. During the break, they spilled out onto ringside, where Dunne stomps Trick’s hand on the ring steps. Dunne is working over Trick as the show returns from the break.

Comeback by Trick. He does a kip up as he fires up. Dunne tries to counter, only for Dunne to take a Rock Bottom. Nevertheless, Dunne is eventually able to counter Trick. Dunne drops Trick with a kick, and Dunne climbs the ropes. Trick cuts off Dunne, and Dunne takes an avalanche flapjack off the top turnbuckle.

They trade strikes and kicks, and Trick gets a near fall after delivering a pump kick. Dunne comes back with some fire, and Dunne viciously stomps on Trick. Trick does another kip up, this time while in a test of strength with Dunne. Trick fires up, but Dunne has yet another counter for Trick.

Dunne snaps the fingers, and Trick sells at first. Trick then snaps, and he hulks up. Blinded by rage, Trick misses a jumping knee strike into a corner. Dunne capitalizes with the Bitter End, and Dunne floats over into a pin on Trick.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger are hosting a barbecue in a skit. Lexis King messes around and finds out, as he is kicked out of the BBQ. Robert Stone and Stevie Turner then sit down to have an eating contest. To be continued…

NXT Champion Ethan Page is in the trainer’s room, and he has word with one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, Nathan Frazier. They exchange barbs.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan vs. Tatum Paxley to retain the title

Jordan pinned Paxley after a frog splash. Jordan sold her knee for much of the match, but she fought through the adversity. Good character development for Jordan, and her next title program is seemingly set up with an angle after the match involving Wendy Choo.

They each showcased their acrobatics early on in the match. The studio audience starts dueling chants at one point. Jordan with a corkscrew plancha to the floor. Paxley crawls underneath the ring. Jordan looks under the ring, only to fund a voodoo doll of herself. Paxley then ambushes Jordan with a chop block.

The title bout goes through a split-screen break. Paxley works over Jordan’s knee during the break. Rally by Jordan as the show returns from the break. Double down, and out comes zombie Wendy Choo.

The match goes on, and Jordan goes for a handspring into the ropes. Her knee buckles, and Jordan crumples to the mat. Paxley tries to capitalize, but Jordan has counters. Jordan recovers, and she goes for a split-legged moonsault. No water in the pool, as Paxley rolled away. Paxley then climbs the ropes and does a 450 splash for a close near fall.

The bout continues and they fight on top of the turnbuckles, setting up a Spanish Fly. Jordan then pulls herself onto the top rope with one leg. Jordan then leaps off into a frog splash, and Jordan covers Paxley for a pinfall. Wendo Choo lays out Paxley after the match, and she glares at Jordan with a zombie stare.

Wren Sinclair is once again blackmailing Charlie Dempsey, and Dempsey agrees to allow Sinclair into his faction if she wins her next match.

Nathan Frazier is getting worried his tag partner Axiom is going to no-show, when in walks Axiom. The tag champs then go off to talk strategy, although Frazier is clearly irritated with Axiom.

Pete Dunne is cutting a promo when he is jumped by Trick Williams. They have a pull-apart brawl, so there is clearly a return match in their future.

NXT Champion Ethan Page defeated Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) to retain the title

Page pinned Mensah to win the match and retain his title. Page worked hard, but this was basically The Oro Mensah Show.

Quick pace at the start. The beginning was much more PWG than WWE, until the show cuts to a commercial break. The pace slows, but the pace quickens again when the show returns from the break. Mensah goes for a lionsault, and Page cuts him down with a drop kick. That nets Page a near fall.

Mensah sells his back, playing up a spot during the break. Nonetheless, Mensah fight back. Mensah pops Booker T on commentary, as Book shouts “WOW” after Mensah delivers a Booker T-style scissors kick. Near fall for Mensah.

They tease a superplex spot. That was smokescreen transition for the match to go outside the ring, as Mensah boots Page off the apron. Mensah sails through the ropes with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, another near fall for Mensah. Missile dropkick by Mensah, and Mensah follows up with a wrecking ball dropkick.

They fight around the set onto a gimmicked picnic area. Page slams Mensah on a picnic table. Page follows that by giving Mensah a Razor’s Edge on the table. Page drags Mensah back to the ring to give him a DDT, yet Mensah kicks out for a near fall. Mensah gets several more near falls, leading into Mensah delivering a spinning heel kick. Mensah connects and goes for a cover. The referee holds up his count, as Page’s left leg is under the bottom rope.

Mensah slips on the ropes going for a springboard. Crash and burn. Page boots Mensah in the face, and Page executes the Ego’s Edge (Razor’s Edge). Page then covers Mensah for a three count, and Page retains the title.

After the match, Page breaks the fourth wall while cutting a promo, as he looks directly into a camera. Page says this is no longer NXT. He exclaims, “It’s N-X-MEEEEEE!”

The Rascalz are interviewed ahead of MSK’s title match later tonight where they challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, and a frat bro in a romper is put through a table. Lola Vice punches the bro in the gut for making a sexist remarks. Sola Ruca and Jaida Parker then put the bro through the a table with a double team powerbomb.

Joe Hendry defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Hendry pinned Coffey to win the match. Hendry was over huge with the studio audience. Before the bell sounds to start the match, Hendry leaps over the ropes for a dive on Mark Coffey and Wolfgang. Crowd chants “we believe” as Hendry is running wild. He is soon cut off by Coffey.

Hendry fights back, and he steps out of harm’s way when Coffey springboards off the middle rope. Coffey lands with a thud. They wrestle on. Coffey is clotheslined out of the ring as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Hendry is being worked over when the show returns from the break. Wolfgang and Mark Coffey pull Hendry out of the ring to attack him. Hendry fights them off, and does an Eddie Guerrero spot. Hendry toss a chair to Wolfgang, and Hendry takes a phantom bump on the announce desk. The ref spots Wolfgang with the chair, and the ref ejects Gallus from ringside.

A rally for Hendry as he plays to the crowd. They eat it up. Hendry delivers a chokeslam, and Hendry covers Coffey for a three count.

In a post-match interview, Hendry says he likes it in NXT. Hendry says he might stay a while longer, and a lot of people in the locker room have a problem. Hendry says they can meet him next Tuesday. No need to even speak his name, Hendry vows to appear.

At Chase University, Ridge Holland announces in class he has a tag team title match booked for Chase U. Duke Hudson pops, but his bubble is soon burst as Holland informs him he challengers for the titles will be Holland and Andre Chase.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, with Shawn Spears again trying to get inside the head of Brooks Jensen. The Good Brothers show up the BBQ, and they insult Hank & Tank. That led to a brawl, and it also appears to set up a tag team grudge match between the two teams.

Wren Sinclair (with Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne) defeated Kendal Gray (with Carlee Bright)

Sinclair won via pinfall, and in winning, Sinclair earns a spot in No Quarter Catch Crew. Dempsey teased cheating on behalf of Sinclair, but he thought better of it. Sinclair won after delivering headlock DDT. Sinclair is beginning to begrudgingly respect Sinclair’s in-ring ability.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a video package. It focuses on Matt Bloom being his coach in NXT.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz (with Trey Miguel) to retain the titles

Fast-paced action and high spots galore, as one might expect with these guys. It made for an exciting bout. Big angle after the match with Wes Lee turning on The Rascalz. Really good match, and a great angle afterwards.

The match goes through a commercial break. The champs each do a dive, and they pose with their title belts as the show cuts to the break.

There were some really cool spots in this match. Hard for me to do them any justice on paper, but the crowd was super into the action. They build to stereo hot tags, and the fast paced action continued. Lots of double team and tandem spots.

Axiom & Frazier do their stereo finisher combo (Spanish Fly by Axiom and a Phoenix Splash by Frazier), but the subsequent pinning attempt is broken up.

Playing on the dissension within their team, Axiom mistakenly superkicks Frazier. Wentz capitalizes by springboarding into a cutter. Frazier kicks out for a close near fall, and the crowd goes wild. Wes Lee tags in, and a moment later he is going for cover. Axiom jumps in to break up the pin.

Just before going home, Frazier executes a superplex on Lee. Frazier floats over and lifts Lee into a vertical suplex. Axiom comes in to deliver a kick, as he and Frazier do a version of reDRagon’s old finisher, called Chasing the Dragon. Lee kicks out for yet another close near fall. Frazier then hold Lee so Axiom can hit the Golden Ratio. Axiom then covers Lee for the deciding pinfall.

Wes Lee is broken after the match, as he is helped to his feet by Wentz and Trey Miguel. Lee is told by Wentz they will get another title shot again. Miguel is in tears over the loss. Suddenly, Lee superkicks Miguel, and Miguel is laid out.

Wentz screams at Lee, as Wentz is in disbelief. Lee then attacks Wentz, giving him a low blow. Lee stands over Wentz, and Lee screams at Wentz that they left him alone. Lee punches Wentz several times, and Wentz is kicked out of the ring.

On the floor, Lee sents Miguel crashing through a barricade at ringside. Lee then delivers a running knee strike that sandwiches Wentz in the ring steps. Lee then leaves. He stops briefly to turn back and look at his carnage, as the show fades to black.

Roxanne Perez vs. Thea Hail title match announced for WWE NXT Great American Bash

The WWE NXT Women’s Championship will be on the line at the Great American Bash two-night event.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez announced during this week’s episode that she will defend her title against Thea Hail at Great American Bash, scheduled for July 30 and August 6 as part of a two-night TV special.

NXT will air on SyFy both of those weeks, as USA Network coverage of the Olympics will preempt NXT on the network.

Hail and Perez engaged in a war of words that turned physical on Tuesday’s show, with Hail locking Perez in a submission before she was pulled off of the Women’s Champion.

Perez has held the NXT Women’s Championship since defeating Lyra Valkyria for the title at Stand & Deliver on WrestleMania weekend this past April. Perez has held the title for a combined 206 days as recognized by WWE across her two reigns with the title, good for the eighth-most combined days as NXT Women’s Champion.

WWE NXT Great American Bash live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov title match

Four championships will be on the line at WWE NXT’s Great American Bash.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes will defend against Ilja Dragunov who earned the shot by defeating former champion Bron Breakker in a no. 1 contender’s match.

Tiffany Stratton will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Chase U’s Thea Hail in a submission match. This will be Hail’s second attempt at dethroning the champion.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio defends against former champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in a three-way.

Olympic gold medalist and two-time NCAA heavyweight wrestling champion Gable Steveson will make his in-ring debut against Baron Corbin.

The rest of the main card will see Roxanne Perez vs. Blair Davenport in a Weapons Wild match, and NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus defending against The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo).

The pre-show will feature an eight-person tag between Dragon Lee, Nathan Frazer, Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz vs. Meta-Four.

**********

The kickoff show is underway. From a studio is Matt Camp, Megan Morant and Sam Roberts as co-hosts on a pre-show panel. They hype begins from the start.

McKenzie Mitchell goes to interview Dominik Mysterio in his locker room at the building near Austin, but she instead encounters WWE World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. She says whatever Mitchell wanted to ask Dom, she can ask “Mami.”

Ripley says Dom is “cool, calm, and collected” despite being outnumbered in the triple threat match. Ripley says Judgment Day always has a plan. Ripley then concludes the interview with some sexual innuendo about her and Dom.

In a clip from yesterday, Roxanne Perez is at Dream Con in Austin when she is confronted by Blair Davenport. A shoving match turns into a pull-apart brawl, as part of an angle shot at the convention.

Baron Corbin in a backstage interview sits down with McKenzie Mitchell ahead of Corbin’s match tonight against Gable Steveson. Corbin is going to take the will to succeed as a WWE superstar from Steveson. Corbin goes on to say he will “dominate and bury a second Gold Medalist” (alluding to a prior match against Kurt Angle).

Opening the show live from the HEB Center in Cedar Park, TX is a mixed eight-person tag team match. Vic Josep

Dragon Lee, Nathan Frazer, Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz defeated Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend)

Dragon Lee pinned Mensah to win the match. The men faced the men and the women vice versa for the most part, but they did some mixed spots. Lots of great action from at times in a decent enough opener. The crowd was rather hot for the finish.

The main card opens clips of Dusty Rhodes, who is credited with creating concept of The Great American Bash in the late 1980s as part of Jim Crockett Promotions. Cody Rhodes narrates the opening video package, which leads into hype for tonight’s card.

The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) defeated NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang with Joe Coffey) to win the titles

D’Angelo pinned Wolfgang to win the titles. Good way to start the main card, and the crowd was into the match.

There was a really good near fall when The Family did the old Power & Glory tag team finisher from the early ’90s. In doing that, Tony D executes a superplex before Stacks jumps off the top rope with a splash. The subsequent spinning attempt was broken up.

Joe Coffey gets involved and hands Wolfgang a club, but it was a red herring to distract the referee. That leads another near fall where the pin is broken up. Moments later, Tony D uses a crowbar to hit Joe Coffey when he tries to interfere.

Stacks is hiplocked over the top rope by Tony D into a dive on the outside. Back in the ring, Bada Bing finisher on Wolfgang, and Tony D covers Wolfgang for the pinfall. The Family are the new tag champs.

Roxanne Perez defeated Blair Davenport in a Weapons Wild match

Perez pinned Davenport, in what was a grudge match filled with weapons and mayhem.

During her entrance, Perez is walking around ringside. Perez hugs her sister and mom in the front row. She is then suddenly ambushed by Davenport, who was in the front row wearing a hoodie pulled over her head. The sneak attack backfires as Perez fires up on Davenport.

They brawled early and often. Weapons come into play like metal folding chairs and trash cans, among other plunder. Davenport cuts off Perez with a shot from a trash can. Davenport is pummeling Perez at ringside when Davenport pulls out a branding iron to use as a weapon, since they are in Texas of course. Chairs are piled up in the ring, and trash cans litter the canvas.

Davenport taunts the family members at ringside while pummeling Perez. Perez fires up on Davenport using a bullrope as a weapon. Davenport is also whipped with a belt that she had earlier used against Perez.

Huge pop from the live crowd when Perez got a table from underneath the ring. It would later come into play, when Perez jumps off the top rope to spash Davenport through the table. They do the spot right in front of Perez’s family.

Davenport twice countered Pop Rocks. Perez takes a bump that crushed a trash can when she is suplexed on it. After the table spot, Perez does the Pop Rocks. Davenport takes the finisher on a pile of folded chairs, and Perez covers Davenport for a three count.

Gable Steveson vs. Baron Corbin ends in a double countout

Decent match for Steveson’s in-ring debut, but the finish was beyond lame. Steveson got over like a fart in church. The crowd even cheered Corbin, which should say a lot. A post-match brawl seems to indicate a return bout in future.

Corbin has new gear and new music. The music was not much of an improvement, but his gear looks nice. Steveson wore a gold medal during his entrance, and his gear is a traditional wrestling singlet.

Steveson gets to shine early on, before Corbin cuts him off and begins to work him over. Corbin dashes some hope spots when Steveson fights back. Corbin taunts Steveson, and that fires up Steveson.

Comeback by Steveson. Corbin baited him into following him outside, and Corbin cuts off Steveson. They brawl around ringside, and both are counted out. The crowd chants “bullshit” as a pull-apart brawl develops.

The brawling continues as they tumble over the announce desk. Referees pour out to separate them, but Corbin and Steveson keep brawling. Security geeks poured out to join the pull-apart brawl, and the security team is mowed down by Steveson and Corbin. Steveson sends Corbin crashing through a gimmicked section of barricade, and Steveson stands tall.

Lyra Valkyria is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when Valkyria is ambushed by Jacy Jayne. Rhea Ripley walks by and remarks that was what she was looking for from Valkyria, as Valkyria and Jayne brawl.

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio (with WWE World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley) defeated Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali to retain the title in a triple threat match

Mysterio pinned Lee to win what was a really good match. They played to each other’s strengths, and Dom is really over as a character.

Dom tries to powder early on, but he is surrounded by Ali and Lee. They chase Mysterio and they double team him. That partnership falls apart as they again turn on each other, much like they did in the storyline heading into this bout.

Ali and Lee face off while Dom is selling on the outside. An opportunist, Myserio jumps back into the ring to shove Ali and Lee off the ropes. They tumble to the floor. Dom goes for the Three Amigos, but that backfires when he tries to suplex both Ali and Lee at the same time. They counter him and they both suplex Mysterio for a double team version of the Three Amigos.

The highspots done by Ali and Lee show they could have a banger in a singles match. In a spot where both Mysertio and Lee are draped on the bottom rope. Ali climbs the turnbuckle. Ali then crashes and burns doing a 450 on the apron. That leaves Lee against Mysterio.

Ripley gets involved by demanding that Lee not do a dive, after he already done a dive. Responding to Ripley’s demands, Lee jumps over her into a dive to the outside. Ripley then executes a Riptide on Lee that puts him through the announce desk. Somehow, Lee is able to kick out after Ripley rolled him back into the ring.

More near falls just before they head home. Ripley tries to give Dom the North American title belt, but the referee intercepts it. That was a red herring much like we saw earlier in the tag title match. Mysterio then grabs the women’s title belt, and he hits Lee with a belt shot. Lee still manages to kick out.

Ali jumps back into the match when he dropkicks Mysterio off the turnbuckles. Ali follows up by executing a 450 splash on Lee, and Ali goes for a cover. Ripley pulls Ali out of the ring to break up the pinning attempt. Mysterio then does a frog splash, and he covers Lee for the deciding pinfall.

Trick Williams cuts a promo in a interview with McKenzie Mitchell, which hypes up the title match main event.

NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defeated Thea Hail (with Duke Hudson & Andre Chase) to retain the title in a submission match

Andre Chase throws in the towel on behalf of Hail, when Stratton had Hail trapped in a Boston crab.

Hail got a special entrance where the crowd was given Chase U banners to hold up. It helped make her look like a superstar. Stratton’s entrance spoofed Barbie, which is very over in pop culture at the moment.

They wrestled back-and-forth at the start, before Stratton begins working over Hail. Stratton works the back, as Hail is a babyface-in-peril. That plays into the submission stip as Stratton worked the back. Stratton applies holds that target the back.

Hail fights back, but her hope spot is dashed when Stratton catches her in a body scissors. Hail powers to her feet, and she begins a rally. The comeback leads to a dive by Hail. Stratton is sent crashing into the ringpost shoulder first. That would play into a spot moments later when Hail goes for a kimura. Stratton breaks up the attempted hold. Hail would later apply the kimura, but Stratton got a rope break.

They do a high spot off the top rope where Hail gives Stratton a super northern lights suplex. Stratton twice does her Prettiest Moonsault Ever, and she applies a Boston crab. Hail won’t tap, but she cannot escape the hold. Andre Chase eventually throws in the towel, and Stratton retains her title. Duke Hudson was in disbelief that Chase threw in the towel.

A backstage skit seemed to set up a match between Dragon Lee and Dominik Mysterio, or at least teased a bout between them.

Two matches announced for Tuesday on NXT includes Jacy Jayne against Lyra Valkyria. Also, Eddy Thorpe faces Dijak in singles match.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeats Ilja Dragunov to retain the title

Hayes pinned Dragunov to retain his title. This was a great match and it was a hard-hitting bout. It was arguably the best match on the show.

Dragunov had red contacts in his eyes, as he was apparently “seeing red” as he headed into the match. That plays into the story of the match.

They wrestled back-and-forth taking and trading moves. Somewhere along the way, Dragunov starts to brutalize Hayes. Meanwhile, Williams keeps trying to motivate Hayes into a rally. Dragunov continues to pummel Hayes, and Hayes takes a ton of punishment. Nonetheless, Williams keep trying to motivate Hayes. Dragunov dashes some hope spots.

Comeback by Hayes, and he fires up on Dragunov. Hayes takes an enzuigiri, but he answers back with La Mistica. That popped the crowd and they are hot. Some receipts by Hayes as he peppers Dragunov with chops and strikes. They go on to trade strikes, and they trade stiff elbows.

Hayes springboards into a DDT for a near fall. That led to a “this is awesome” chant. Dragunov leaps off the top rope into a back senton for another near fall. Dragunov attempts to go coast-to-coast, but he is struck down in mid-air by a codebreaker from Hayes, in what was likely the wildest high spot on the show. “Holy s***” chants from the crowd.

Hayes goes to follows up with Nothing But Net, but Dragunov blocks it and powerbombs Hayes. Dragunov signals for a finisher, and he drops the flying forearm. Hayes somehow kicks out in the closest near fall of the match. Dragunov takes an avalanche cutter for another close near fall. Williams grabs the title match at ringside and he holds it up to help motivate Hayes, showing him what he is fighting for.

They fight on and trade strikes in a fighting spirit exchange. The fight then spilled outside the ring. Dragunov leaps off the ring steps and inadvertently wipes out Williams with Torpedo Moskau. In doing so, Dragunov apparently smashes into the title belt that Williams was holding, and Dragunov is on rubber legs. Hayes capitalizes with Nothing But Net, and Hayes covers Dragunov for a pinfall.

Sunday Update

Bryan and I did our weekend show last night covering Collision, UFC and Smackdown. Garret and I also did our week in review show, a two-hour show covering a ton of topics including the latest business, Bam Bam Bigelow, All In, SummerSlam and a ton of other stuff. Bryan and I will be back tomorrow night covering tonight’s Great American Bash as well as Raw.

Sources have confirmed to us that Comcast, while not advertising it yet, is scheduled to air All In on PPV on 8/27 from Wembley Stadium with a $50 price tag. That would mean it would be on inDemand and all the cable systems would be expected to be carrying the show. This confirms that as of this moment, it will be a PPV show, just as All Out will be. Other cable systems have not confirmed it and AEW has yet to announce it. Andrew Zarian, who first said it would be a PPV event, has confirmed Joe Hand Promotions would be airing the show at movie theaters around the country, also just like a usual AEW PPV show. As noted many times, this is the one show that both WBD (which was prominent in the early promotion as being part of the 100 years of WBD) and AEW should have wanted in front of the most eyeballs possible, which would be television and streaming and it at this point appears that won’t be the case.

Great American Bash tonight from Cedar Park, TX at 8 p.m.:

  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov for the NXT title – On paper this should be great as Dragunov has the ability to bring a level of intensity and Hayes is very talented. On paper this should be Hayes’ best title defense.
  • Dominik Mysterio vs. Wes Lee vs. Mustafa Ali for the North American title. Mysterio has been driving the NXT ratings with Rhea Ripley so I wouldn’t change the title. But the three-way allows them many different options here and Lee vs. Ali was the direction they were going before Mysterio showed up.
  • Gallus vs. Tony D’Angelo & Stacks Lorenzo for the tag titles. This will open the PPV portion of the show. Expect the Creeds under a mask to be a factor in this.
  • Tiffany Stratton vs. Thea Hail for the women’s title in a submission match. Hail has a lot of momentum here but has dominated the angles leading up to this and Stratton is the one the company is very high on right now.
  • Gable Steveson vs. Baron Corbin. This is Steveson’s pro wrestling debut and he’s been the subject of a lot of questions. WWE has a lot of money invested in Steveson so they don’t want him doing anything but succeeding. Usually I’d say Steveson wins quickly and explosively but whatever decision they make will be very interesting.
  • Blair Davenport vs. Roxanne Perez in a weapons match. Davenport won their first meeting and this is in Texas, so Perez in theory would be the favorite.
  • Nathan Frazer & Dragon Lee & Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz vs. Noam Dar & Oro Mensah & Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson in the pre-show match at about 7:40 p.m. Eastern
  • There were 3,775 tickets out as of earlier today.

We are also looking for reports on tonight’s WWE show in Coral Gables, FL with results, finishes and highlights to [email protected]

Both the Terrence Crawford vs. Erroll Spence Jr., boxing match and Justin Gaethje vs. Dustin Poirier UFC fight did an excess of 1 million Google searches. Early numbers indicate Crawford vs. Spence did over 1.2 million searches and the UFC fight did over 1.1 million, but the way they tally stuff now, that doesn’t mean Spence-Crawford was bigger. But it probably was as it was a bigger fight in boxing for the undisputed welterweight title while the UFC fight was for the made up BMF title. Both went head-to-head, and also opposed Collision as well as Bellator being on Showtime. People are talking of Crawford now as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world the way he took care of Spence enroute to a ninth round TKO win at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC had four of the top ten searched for subjects last night with Gaethje vs. Poroier, as well as Derrick Lewis, Jan Blachowicz and Tony Ferguson. No other pro wrestling, boxing or MMA subjects cracked the top 20 for any day this past week.

I don’t think there was much controversy over the Alex Pereira vs. Jan Blachowicz decision from last night. I had it 29-28 Pereira which the vast majority also had. Blachowicz claimed he was robbed. The third round was close, but Pereira did better in the stand up. Blachowicz got a late takedown but did no damage from the top. Media scores were 85 percent with Pereira.

Justin Gaethje, after his win, was challenged by Conor McGregor. Gaethje pretty much blew it off. McGregor still hasn’t enrolled in the USADA drug testing so in theory can’t fight for the next six months, although I have little doubt they’ll find a way to waive that rule. Gaethje said he thinks McGregor turned down fighting him six times. McGregor said he’d slap Gaethje around. McGregor indicated wanting to face Gaethje rather than Michael Chandler, which had been the plan, coming off this season of Ultimate Fighter. Gaethje said he didn’t care, that at one time he would have wanted the fight, but said, “I’m not going to fight someone on steroids. I’ve never taken steroids in my life, never will–well, maybe when I retire, I might. But I’ve never taken steroids and I don’t want to fight someone that’s cheating. And I probably shouldn’t even say that if I want the fight, but it’s the truth.” He said he wants the winner of Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title, and he hopes Oliveira wins so he can avenge his loss to Oliveira.

Drew McIntyre won’t be on Raw tomorrow night. He’s doing a movie in Budapest, Hungary. It’s the same reason he wasn’t on the 7/17 show. Of course he returns to the U.S. this coming weekend for his match with Gunther at SummerSlam. Seth Rollins & Sami Zayn vs. Dominik Mysterio & Damian Priest will be on tomorrow’s Raw show in Houston, which is sold out.

WWE is doing a community service experience event on Friday night at Ford Field in Detroit prior to SumerSlam. All ticket money will be donated to the V Foundation and Conor’s Cure for Pediatric Cancer. Cody Rhodes and Liv Morgan will both be appearing.

The G-1 tournament next show is Tuesday at 6 a.m. Eastern from Takamatsu with Kazuchika Okada vs. KENTA, Yota Tsuji vs. Shota Umino and Will Ospreay vs. Tanga Loa as the top bouts.

WWE from last night in Estero, FL:

  • Matt Riddle b Gunther via DQ when Ludvig Kaiser & Giovanni Cinvi attacked Riddle and The Alpha Academy made the save
  • Riddle & Gable & Otis b Imperium when Riddle pinned Kaiser. Gable gave Gunther a Chaos Theory suplex before the finish.
  • Austin Theory retained the U.S title over A.J Styles using the trunks. Styles laid him out after the match.
  • Kayden Carter & Katana Chance b Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre when Chance pinned Dawn with the usual Carter/Chance neckbreaker 450 combination
  • Cody Rhodes b Damian Priest with Cross Rhodes. Rhodes saw a little girl in the front row with unicorn horns and asked if he could borrow them. He put them on and said that now he knows he can beat Brock Lesnar.
  • Omos b Johnny Gargano
  • Asuka won a three-way over Charlotte Flair and Shotzi when Flair gave Shotzi natural selection and Asuka threw Flair out of the ring for the pin
  • Seth Rollins b Rinn Balor with the curb stomp to keep the world title. No Rhea Ripley or Dominik Mysreio on the show and both were advertised with Cody vs. Dominik and Ripley vs. Natalya (who also wasn’t there). (thanks to Shannon Walsh)

Also thanks to Matthew Merritt for weekend WWE reports.

The Pitbull Brothers accused Kleber Koike of attacking Patricky from behind in their locker room at the Bellator/RIZIN joint show at the Saitama Super Arena earlier today. Patricio, who was shockingly knocked out in the first round by Chihiro Suzuki, made this public saying that Koike kicked his brother and ran away. Patricky had beaten Koike’s teammate, Roberto Satoshi De Souza in the main event of the show, a first round lightweight Grand Prix tournament fight.

Philo, a streaming television provider, is dropping AXS TV from its lineup. Philo is a low-cost alternative to satellite and cable at $25 a month. It was a base station service to Philo and coming off the successful numbers of Slammiversary, it’s disappointing. It’s not a great deal of homes lost but it is something. The change is scheduled for 7/31 at this point.

Triple threat North American title match set for WWE NXT Great American Bash

A three-way match for the North American title has been set for NXT’s Great American Bash event this Sunday.

Dominik Mysterio will defend the title against former champion Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali in a three-way match. Mysterio opened NXT on Tuesday bragging about his title win last week when Lee came out and demanded a rematch. Ali then came out and said he had the match for the Great American Bash against Lee, saying that Lee ruined everything. Lee argued with Ali as Rhea Ripley and Mysterio agreed to a three-way match for Sunday.

Additionally, a pre-show match has been added pitting members of Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson) against Nathan Fraszer, Dragon Lee, Yulisa Leon, and Valentina Feroz.

It was also confirmed that Blair Davenport and Roxanne Perez will meet in a weapons wild match. Footage was shown on Tuesday’s NXT showing the two brawling in a convenience store.

Here is the updated lineup for Sunday’s Great American Bash:

  • NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes defends against Ilja Dragunov
  • NXT North American Championship: Dominik Mysterio defends against Mustafa Ali and Wes Lee
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Gallus defends against Tony D’Angelo and Stacks
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton defends against Thea Hail
  • Gable Steveson vs. Baron Corbin
  • Weapons wild match: Roxanne Perez vs. Blair Davenport
  • Pre-show: Nathan Frazer, Dragon Lee, Yulisa Leon, and Valentina Feroz vs. Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, and Jakara Jackson

Gable Steveson to make WWE in-ring debut at NXT Great American Bash

Gable Steveson is NXT, and his first match is on Sunday.

Steveson made his decision to remain in NXT on Tuesday’s show during an in-ring promo. He was about to announce his decision when Baron Corbin came out and urged him to either return to college or compete in the Olympics, ultimately saying he didn’t want him in NXT. Steveson responded by saying that Corbin confronting him made his decision that much easier, saying he would have his first match at the Great American Bash against Corbin.

Steveson, who signed with the WWE in 2021, started making appearances in NXT earlier this summer by helping Eddy Thorpe train in a NXT Underground match against Damon Kemp, Steveson’s real-life brother. Thorpe ended up winning the match, with Steveson throwing people around with suplexes once things got out of control.

Here is the updated lineup for the Great American Bash:

  • NXT Championship: Carmelo Hayes defends against Ilja Dragunov
  • NXT North American Championship: Dominik Mysterio defends against Mustafa Ali and Wes Lee
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Gallus defends against Tony D’Angelo and Stacks
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton defends against Thea Hail
  • Gable Steveson vs. Baron Corbin
  • Roxanne Perez vs. Blair Davenport
