AEW Dynamite live results: Okada vs. Fletcher Continental title match

The AEW Continental Championship will be on the line in one of two title matches set for tonight’s Dynamite from Milwaukee, Wisconsin — the go-home edition of the show ahead of this Saturday’s All Out.

Reigning champion Kazuchika Okada will defend against former Ring of Honor TV Champion Kyle Fletcher who is coming off a victory over Tomohiro Ishii on last Saturday’s Collision. Okada last defended in a time limit draw against Claudio Castagnoli on the August 21st Dynamite.

The AEW Women’s World title will also be on the line with Mariah May making her first title defense against former champion Nyla Rose. May defeated Toni Storm to win the title at All In.

A trios match will feature International Champion Will Ospreay, Orange Cassidy & Kyle O’Reilly taking on AEW Trios Champions PAC, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta in a non-title match. Ospreay is set to defend the International title against PAC on Saturday.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us to the show alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz, as Daniel Garcia storms to the ring, demanding MJF, refusing to wait until All Out.

MJF’s voice is heard singing Danny Boy, as he’s shown in the crowd surrounded by security. MJF is up there, sipping wine, as he doesn’t want to have Garcia to have any excuses before he breaks his pencil neck at All Out. Unlike Garcia, he doesn’t attack people from behind like a coward and emaciated skinhead hooked on Ozempic. Garcia said everyone knows what MJF says is a lie and fake, from his tan, his makeup to cover his acne, to his trip to Turkey to get a hair transplant that didn’t even work. Garcia said the fakest thing about MJF is his love he claims to have for AEW. MJF doesn’t love the fans like Garcia does and can get as many fake tattoos as he wants, the crowd won’t believe him. Garcia is obsessed with ruining MJF’s life and wants to make sure his loved ones suffer too. If MJF can ever find a woman to care about him longer than a year, marry her, get a house, have a kid, but know, every time you pick up that ugly ass baby, you’ll feel a tingle in his neck to his toes and he’ll think about Garcia. MJF’s kid will ask him, were you ever a wrestler and MJF will have to say he was, but Daniel Garcia ended his career.

MJF stood up to applaud that Garcia learned how to speak, but said he has a lot more maturing to do. Garcia doesn’t realize that when MJF dumped him on his head, he was doing him a solid. The fans used to love MJF, but when he got too big, they turned on him. Garcia doesn’t want their love or to win championship gold. The more he rises in this sport, the more the fans will want him to fall. MJF will do Garcia a favor this Saturday and make sure the fans won’t hurt him the way they hurt MJF and he’ll do that by putting Garcia in a wheelchair. There’s one person Garcia can trust, his mother, who will take care of him laying in bed. That won’t be the first person she’ll have taken care of while on their back.

Garcia sprinted over the barricade, tried laying out as many security guards as possible, breaking free and the race was on, as he made it to MJF, who broke a bottle over his head. MJF sipped more wine before sitting next to an unconscious Garcia, who is bleeding. MJF said in this life every man must go through hell before reaching paradise. Garcia has woken something in MJF that’s been dormant for far too long. This Saturday, MJF will send Garcia straight to paradise and he can thank him later. MJF kissed the bloody head of Garcia and stood tall.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Conglomeration, sans Tomohiro Ishii, as Willow Nightingale & Kris Statlander will go face to face this week on Collision. Will Ospreay walks in, as he asks Kyle O’Reilly words of wisdom tonight, as Mark Briscoe ran down his phone call he had with him. Briscoe did his usual hype up speech, saying the word of the day is stupendous, as this trios match tonight is as stupendous as it gets. Everyone got amped up, as Orange Cassidy didn’t move a muscle.

Kazuchika Okada defeated Kyle Fletcher to retain the AEW Continental Title

(With this win, Okada will defend his Continental Title at All Out against three other challengers from qualifying matches on Collision. This was a slow start for the match, but it picked up as it went along. The crowd were loudly behind Fletcher, but did love Okada, despite him playing heel, which is usually the case wherever Okada goes. Fletcher wasted a lot of time towards the end of the match playing to the crowd and I wonder if that will come into play with Callis, who was really upset by that.)

Don Callis joined commentary, as Fletcher has his right bicep taped up quite a bit for this one. Okada backed Fletcher to the ropes and did his clean break before the pace quickened and after a series of counters, had a stalemate. Callis said he’s all about greasing the wrist, so Okada couldn’t hit the Rainmaker. Fletcher sent Okada crashing outside and followed with a dive leading to picture in picture.

When things returned, both men were slugging it out until Fletcher ran through a lariat into one of his own. Spinning sit-out slam netted Fletcher a near fall, but Okada was able to hit an Air Raid Crash neckbreaker to regain control. Top rope elbow connected, which led to the middle finger to the crowd, but Fletcher dodged the Rainmaker into a Michinoku Driver for two. Okada wisely went to the outside, but Fletcher told the ref to stop counting in order to go outside. Okada was playing possum and spiked Fletcher with a DDT before going to the apron, looking for a Tombstone, but Fletcher got free. Thrust kick into a brainbuster on the apron connected, similar to what Fletcher hit on Ishii on Collision, as both men collapsed on the floor in the next commercial.

Okada had the Money Clip applied when things returned, but Fletcher broke free and hit a thrust kick. Corner charging boot led to Okada floating over a brainbuster, dropkicking the leg out, sending Fletcher crashing outside. Okada hit a running boot, sending Fletcher over the barricade, as Okada tried a draping DDT, but Fletcher countered into a brainbuster on the barricade. Fletcher cleared the rail with a somersault dive and went to the crowd to celebrate. Callis said every second is precious, as Fletcher brought Okada back inside for an elbow drop, but played to the crowd and Callis is furious. Fletcher did the Rainmaker pose, but Okada rolled through a backslide into a Rainmaker. Keeping wrist control, Okada hit another, went for a third, but Fletcher countered. Wild series of counters led to a Fletcher half & half and jumping Tombstone for two.

With one minute remaining, Fletcher went up top, but Okada pulled referee Rick Knox in front of him. Fletcher went after Okada, who did the ripcord into the Rainmaker, but hit a low blow before the lariat and stole the win.

-Video footage of Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana outside of Strickland’s childhood home, which he was just able to buy thanks to his new contract with AEW.

Jamie Hayter defeated Robyn Renegade

Renegade tried a quick start, but Hayter just mowed her down with a shoulder tackle. Saraya & Harley Cameron were shown watching backstage unimpressed, as Hayter no sold a dropkick and waffled Renegade with a violent lariat. Hayter was sent to the corner and ate double knees, but again, Hayter exploded out with a charging boot. Renegade hung up Hayter between the ropes and hit a double stomp, but Hayter countered a leaping Renegade with a snap powerslam. Multiple backbreakers led to the Hayterade for the quick victory. Commentary said Hayter won’t rest until she gets revenge on Saraya.

-Roderick Strong is backstage with Renee Paquette & Christopher Daniels as he’s pleading his case to them about how his foot was under the ropes before he tapped last week to HOOK. Daniels said the ref didn’t see it, (which correct me if I’m wrong, she stepped over the foot on the ropes,) but HOOK stormed in and said they can fight tonight for the FTW Title. Strong said he wasn’t wrestling in a dump like Milwaukee, but he’ll call his shot when he’s good and ready.

-We see Marina Shafir arriving to the arena, beating up backstage personnel, as Jon Moxley strolls in with her before approaching The Young Bucks & Jack Perry. Moxley stares down Perry and said he doesn’t care what they say, Perry’s a sweet kid. Moxley & Shafir walk off and we’ll hear from them next.

**********

Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir make their way from the crowd to Moxley’s NJPW Death Rider theme to a loud ovation. Moxley wonders if Darby Allin is somewhere in Milwaukee tonight? Moxley said a few years ago he wrestled someone no one heard of, who slept in his car, he beat the piss out of him for 20 minutes and on that night, he realized that kid was special. Darby Allin walks his own path, with reckless abandon and he respects that. That is not something he’s entitled to, as Moxley is an impatient man, he doesn’t want to apply pressure, so don’t make him, he just wants to talk. That was it, as Moxley & Shafir leave the way they came, through the fans. Taz said Moxley’s riddles have everyone confused.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Learning Tree, as Chris Jericho brought up his $7,000 jacket that Orange Cassidy ruined four years ago. We see footage of orange juice being poured on The Inner Circle and Jericho said he never forgets, so Bryan Keith will get revenge for him. Cassidy walks in and says he’ll make it easy, if Keith beats him on Collision, he’ll give Jericho his $7,000 in cash and strolls off.

Mariah May defeated Nyla Rose to retain the AEW Women’s Title

(Slow start, but the crowd ultimately got into this, as both ladies had fan during the second half of the match. May gets her first successful title defense, as they never gave any inclination as to who her next challenger would be and whether she’d be wrestling at All Out.)

May slapped Rose right in the face to start and showed no fear, as Rose launched her to the corner. May avoided a Beast Bomb and kept slapping Rose in the face before Rose flattened her with a charging cross body. Bodyslam into a leg drop kept Rose in control, but May hung her up throat first on the ropes and connected with a missile dropkick into break.

May dodged a corner charge and hit a shotgun dropkick for one. Both ladies got to their feet and went for headbutts at the same time and both collapsed for the reset. Each took turns with charges in the ropes before a German suplex stacked up May. Corner splash connected, as a lariat flattened May for two. May escaped Beast Bomb again, tried a cross body, but Rose rolled through into a powerslam, only May rolled outside. Referee Aubrey went out to May, but it was a ruse, as she swept the leg of Rose out on the steps and hit a running knee. May demanded the count be put on Rose, who broke it at 9. May connected on a charging knee and Storm Zero right as Rose returned to the ring and got the victory. May rolled around the ring with her Women’s Title in celebration.

-A Deonna Purrazzo video package was shown saying the Texas Bullrope Match against Thunder Rosa was supposed to be her magnum opus. It wasn’t, but it doesn’t mean she’s done making art, she’s only just begun. Purrazzo will face Hikaru Shida this Friday on Collision.

**********

TBS Champion Mercedes Mone & Kamille make their way to the ring, as there were highlights shown of Mone defending her New Japan Strong Women’s Title against Momo Wantanabe at NJPW Capital Collision last week. Taz seemed to be the only one to chant along with C.E.O. as Mone ran down Hikaru Shida, asking how can she be The Ace, when she’s not the face of TBS? Crowd chanted “Holy Shida” as Mone said she’s the face of the whole damn company. Mone hit her signature line before Shida was shown on the big screen. Shida said in their last match, Mone was one Kitana away from losing, thanks to her watch dog. Mone knows she can’t beat The Ace. Christopher Daniels walks in and said Kamille is a great competitor, but when ringside, she’s a nuisance and is banned from ringside at All Out. Shida said she knows Mone knows some Japanese, sayonara, bitch.

-The Elite are backstage and Jack Perry said three years ago, All Out 2021 in Chicago, he was in the ring the very moment Bryan Danielson arrived in AEW. Perry promised himself one day he’d stand in the same ring with the American Dragon. Fast forward earlier this year, he was sitting at home and heard Danielson’s career was coming to an end. Perry didn’t give up, changed who he was, went to Japan and did it by himself. Danielson could’ve helped someone like Perry (I assume being part of the disciplinary committee following All In last year), but he didn’t, as Danielson only cares about his fairytale ending. Saturday at All Out, it’s not going to have a happy ending. Matthew Jackson said they’ll do anything to make sure the AEW World Title comes back to where it belongs, The Elite.

Bryan Danielson walks out to a loud ovation and will join commentary for the main event, which is up next.

AEW Trios Champions PAC, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated AEW International Champion Will Ospreay, Kyle O’Reilly & Orange Cassidy

Danielson said it was motivating to hear The Elite said they will try anything to get the AEW Title from him, as he wants to have the best AEW Title reign ever. While Perry has some friends, Danielson has some friends as well and they’re in the ring right now. O’Reilly & Yuta was a fast technical start, as O’Reilly quickly snapped on an arm breaker, but Yuta escaped and Cassidy made the tag. Fast paced double team from O’Reilly & Cassidy, who let Yuta, his former protégé up, before a slugfest ensued. Angle Slam from Yuta, as PAC came in and chucked Cassidy to Ospreay, which is who he wants. Crowd was hyped up, as a lighting quick series of counters took place until Ospreay dodged a leg sweep, hit a snap dropkick and we had a 6 man face-off leading to commercial.

Back from break, Cassidy fought out of the clutches of Yuta, who hit rolling Germans before Cassidy ultimately escaped, only for Castagnoli to make the tag and clean house first. PAC quickly tagged in and wanted an avalanche brainbuster, but Cassidy broke free. He dove for a DDT, but PAC caught him with an overhead throw into the Brutalizer. Ospreay broke the hold up, but got popped by Castagnoli, who viciously sent him to the barricade. Fastball Special hit by Yuta & Castagnoli, but O’Reilly broke the pin. O’Reilly paid for it, as Castagnoli demolished him with uppercuts. After being isolated for an extended time, Cassidy finally broke free and dove for the Ospreay hot tag. PAC bailed out, as Yuta & Castagnoli took the punishment, as Ospreay hit the corkscrew kick on Yuta, allowing PAC to have a face-off. O’Reilly charged in for a shot on PAC and things went to break before PAC & Ospreay could go at it again.

Things return to a This Is Awesome chant, as Castagnoli is wearing out Cassidy with anvil elbows. Cassidy answered with a Déjà vu that sent Castagnoli to the floor, where Cassidy hit a dive, but Yuta was soon after with one of his own. O’Reilly flew off the apron with a knee, as PAC hit a somersault dive, but Ospreay was there with a slingshot forearm. PAC& Ospreay fought up the ramp, but Yuta cut them off, eating a hook kick in the process. Ospreay wanted Hidden Blade, but PAC tried to sneak in a Poison Rana, only this time, Ospreay sent him off the stage and followed with a somersault dive, continuing to brawl to the back. Back in the ring, Cassidy hit a top rope DDT on Castagnoli, who ducked Orange Punch, dodged Déjà Vu, but ate a Stundog Millionaire and Beach Break for a close two. Cassidy & O’Reilly delivered Yes Kicks, as Castagnoli collapsed. Yuta put a stop to the High/Low, was sent outside, as O’Reilly locked in a guillotine and refused to let go. Castagnoli faded, but ultimately powered up into an uppercut. Giant Swing for 10 revolutions, as Yuta flew in with a dropkick and got the victory.

Bryan Danielson came to the ring and celebrated with Yuta & Castagnoli before The Elite attacked them all from behind, as The Bucks & Okada put the boots to Danielson, while Perry grabbed a chair. Castagnoli & Yuta made the save, leading to Danielson say it’s time for Perry to get his f’n head kicked in, but The Bucks & Okada pulled him to safety. Castagnoli took the mic and said The Elite just made the biggest mistake of their lives. Lately he’s been in the mood for collecting gold and challenges The Bucks to a Tag Team Title match at All Out. Excalibur said The Bucks weren’t eager to accept, even though Nicholas was literally saying ok repeatedly. Danielson said everyone is sick of Jack Perry and his crap, he promises at All Out, he’s going to get his f’n head kicked it.

PAC & Ospreay are shown continuing their brawl backstage, as PAC hit a brainbuster on the equipment cases.

Swerve Strickland & Hangman Page Cage Match Contract Signing

With a table and contract set up ready to go, Tony Schiavone welcomes Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana to the ring to a loud ovation. Schiavone thanked Strickland for agreeing to no physicality before welcoming Hangman Page, who didn’t show up. They tried the intro once more, but again, no Page.

We see on the big screen Hangman Page at the childhood home of Strickland, knocking on the front door, asking “whose house?” Page wouldn’t give Strickland the satisfaction of signing a contract to a match they know is going to happen. Strickland slipped up, he showed the world & Page something important to him, his childhood home. Page can envision Strickland’s mom walking on the dirty floors, while his father tells him to shut the hell up so he can hear the television. Knowing the man Strickland turned out to be, Page bets Strickland’s father didn’t love him at all and regrets having him. What a wonderful world it would’ve been if Strickland was never born. Page starts soaking the house in gasoline and said Strickland already knows. Much like Strickland sitting outside his home and watching Page take his pregnant wife to the hospital that Page must make a choice between hate and success, vengeance and peace, but for Page, it’s not much of a choice. They are all one in the same. Page told Strickland for months that there’s nothing he wanted more in life than to burn Strickland’s world to the ground.

If Page couldn’t have been the one to take the World Championship from Strickland, he’s glad to help have it slip through his fingers. This Saturday, he’ll take Strickland’s pride, dignity, begging for Page’s mercy and forgiveness, which he won’t give to him. The night is long and time to say goodbye, not from Page, but for Strickland. Say goodbye to any chance of holding the AEW World Title again. Say goodbye to your health, career, joy and happiness, while tonight, he gets some practice. Tonight, Strickland can say goodbye to Swerve’s House. Page lights the house on fire and it goes up in flames as he has a beer with flames behind him. Strickland collapses in the ring and is in tears, as Taz said there will be hell to pay come Saturday. I think the crowd chanted “This Is Arson” as the show went off the air.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Kyle Fletcher Continental title match set for AEW Dynamite

The AEW Continental Championship will be defended on Dynamite tomorrow night.

Kazuchika Okada defending his title against Kyle Fletcher is now scheduled for the show. Tony Khan announced the news on Tuesday, writing that Fletcher is receiving the title shot due to his win over Tomohiro Ishii on Collision.

“After winning an instant classic vs Tomohiro Ishii on #AEWCollision, @KyleFletcherPro challenges AEW Continental Champion @rainmakerXokada TOMORROW!”

Khan has not been shy about booking Fletcher in big matches of late. He’s already had televised bouts against MJF, Ricochet, Tomohiro Ishii, and Brian Cage this month.

As for Okada, he’s defended the Continental Championship three times since winning it from Eddie Kingston on the March 20 Dynamite in Toronto. He’s defeated PAC, Dax Harwood, and went to a 20-minute time-limit draw against Claudio Castagnoli.

Bryan Danielson appearance, Ricochet vs. Kyle Fletcher set for AEW Dynamite

Image: AEW

Ricochet’s AEW Dynamite debut is taking place soon.

In a social media exclusive following AEW All In, Don Callis revealed that his protege Kyle Fletcher would face off against Ricochet this Wednesday.

The promo had Callis talking about how someone came up to him and said they were excited about this one guy. Callis thought they were talking about Kyle Fletcher, but actually it was about Ricochet making his debut in the Casino gauntlet match.

Callis said he knows all the sickos are excited about Ricochet having a banger, but he’s excited about crushing him under his boot. Fletcher said he can’t wait to drop Ricochet on his head.

New AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson will also appear in Champaign, Illinois, on Wednesday to give an update on his future. During the All In media scrum, Danielson said he hadn’t thought much about his future past All In and wasn’t sure about what was going to happen. He said he may have an announcement on Dynamite.

Here is the updated card for this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite:

  • AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson will appear
  • Kyle Fletcher vs. Ricochet

Two stipulations added to key matches on AEW Dynamite

Two key matches on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite now have new stipulations following the events of Saturday’s AEW Collision.

After Ricky Steamboat was announced as being a special guest on Friday for the Bryan Danielson vs. Jeff Jarrett match, Jarrett appeared on Collision and upped the ante with a request to make their match of the no disqualification, no time limit, anything goes variety.

In the other, the match between AEW American/International Champion MJF and Kyle Fletcher will now be a title eliminator bout, meaning Fletcher must beat or draw the champion to earn a future title match.

MJF appeared on the big screen following Fletcher’s victory over Brian Cage to make the offer, saying if he beat or went to a draw, the title match would be set for the following week.

Here’s the current lineup for Winston-Salem, North Carolina:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Jeff Jarrett no DQ match with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as special guest
  • AEW American/International title eliminator: MJF vs. Kyle Fletcher
  • Katsuyori Shibata vs. Bryan Keith

MJF vs. Kyle Fletcher, Bryan Danielson vs. Jeff Jarrett set for next AEW Dynamite

Three matches are on tap for next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with one involving the former AEW World Champion and another featuring a first-time-ever match between two legends.

AEW American/International Champion MJF will face Kyle Fletcher in a non-title match following the latter coming out to aid former partner Will Ospreay from an MJF post-match attack.

Ospreay had just defeated Lance Archer when MJF followed up on a show-opening promo by beating down Ospreay. Fletcher then prevented a Dynamite diamond ring punch before cutting a promo on MJF, challenging him to a match right there. MJF pretended he was going to do it and then said he would do it next week instead.

Ospreay and Fletcher were part of the United Empire faction in NJPW in addition to the Don Callis Family before Ospreay and Callis parted ways this year.

MJF and Fletcher squared off at last year’s All In when MJF & Adam Cole defeated Fletcher & Mark Davis for the ROH Tag Team titles.

Another match will see Bryan Danielson take on Jeff Jarrett for the first time ever.

The bout was made after Wednesday’s in-ring promo with Danielson and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland where Danielson offered up his career if he cannot beat Strickland at All In. Danielson walked backstage and Jarrett was rooting him on as a follow-up to last week’s pump-up speech that he gave him.

Danielson wasn’t in the mood and then issued the challenge for next Wednesday.

Another match made for next week will see Katsuyori Shibata taking on Bryan Keith as the feud between their respective groups continues.

Shibata returned last week to disrupt The Learning Tree’s plans. Chris Jericho said in a backstage promo celebrating 102 days as FTW Champion that since his finger was broken last week in his bout with Minoru Suzuki, Keith would take care of Shibata for him.

Here’s the current lineup for Winston-Salem:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Jeff Jarrett
  • AEW American/International Champion MJF vs. Kyle Fletcher in a non-title match
  • Bryan Keith vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Kyle Fletcher set for Team World in CMLL Grand Prix

Kyle Fletcher will be one of 10 Team World members in the August 23 CMLL Grand Prix match at Arena Mexico.

The Grand Prix will be held on Friday, August 23, with a 10-man Team World facing a 10-man Team Mexico in a tag team bout.

Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Robbie X of RevPro, Flip Gordon, and MLW’s Ikuro Kwon are the first five member of Team World, with the rest of the unit set to be revealed at a later date.

Team Mexico has Mistico, Templario, Titan, Ultimo Guerrero, and Atlantis Jr. already announced, with the rest of that group also to be revealed.

Atlantis Jr. defeated Fletcher for the ROH Television Championship in Arena Mexico at the weekly Friday night show on June 28.

Fletcher heading to Arena Mexico in August is the latest example of the strong relationship between CMLL and AEW, as evidenced by the Death Triangle group of PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Rey Fenix also being announced for a CMLL event on Wednesday.

ROH TV title changes hands at CMLL Arena Mexico show

To kickstart Forbidden Door weekend, a Ring of Honor title changed hands at a CMLL event on Friday night.

Atlantis Jr. defeated Kyle Fletcher at Arena Mexico to win the ROH Television title. Fletcher had been champion since December 2023 and made seven successful defenses during his reign.

It looks like we’ll be seeing a rematch between Atlantis Jr. and Fletcher in the near future. After their match, Fletcher challenged Atlantis Jr. to face him again on Fletcher’s home turf.

Death Before Dishonor 2024 on Friday, July 26 is ROH’s next pay-per-view. ROH has not announced if that’s where the Atlantis Jr. vs. Fletcher rematch will be taking place.

“Despite CMLL stars appearing on ROH events officially as representatives of the company as early as 2015, this is the first time a CMLL star has won ROH gold while under contract with CMLL while the opposite has occurred once (Matt Taven) to my recollection,” ROH commentator Ian Riccaboni tweeted.

AEW and CMLL began working together in late 2023 and now have a close partnership. For the first time ever, CMLL will be part of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door this Sunday (June 30). The PPV is being held in Long Island, New York.

Also at Friday night’s CMLL show, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance and attacked Mistico, setting up a match between the two that will take place at Arena Mexico.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher World title match

The Ring of Honor World Championship will be defended on ROH TV tonight as Mark Briscoe puts the title on the line against ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher on HonorClub.

This will be Briscoe’s first title defense since winning the gold at April’s Supercard of Honor. Fletcher’s TV title will not be on the line.

ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will wrestle Angelica Risk in a Proving Ground match. The inaugural champion has yet to defend the gold since winning it at Supercard of Honor.

Former title challenger Taya Valkyrie will face Trish Adora while Lee Johnson will look to rebound from his recent best-of-three falls loss to Fletcher as he faces Alex Reynolds.

The show will also see The Righteous & Lance Archer in trios action while Marina Shafir will also compete.

Matches for this week’s show were taped at the Covelli Center in Youngstown, Ohio, on June 15th.

**********

With a huge main event waiting in the wings, this week’s ROH TV kicked off with an emergency MEM (Minion Empowerment Meeting). Lexi Nair, ROH Women’s Champion Athena and ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz lamented last week’s attack by Queen Aminata and Red Velvet. Athena said she would be out for 8-12 months, and “doesn’t feel safe at work anymore.” She then introduced two new male Minions who will act as their personal security. Then they decided they needed to find a belt for Lexi Nair and left.

With that said, the show kicked off proper with singles action!

Lee Johnson defeated Alex Reynolds

Johnson fought ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher to the very end of a brutal 2-out-of-3 falls match last week, but ended up coming up short. Johnson has nothing but potential ahead of him, so this match against the Dark Order’s Reynolds (accompanied by Evil Uno) was an excellent way to start climbing that ladder again.

The two tied up to start things off and it led to a surprisingly slow pace to to the match. Johnson and Reynolds were pretty much the same size and both had the potential for explosive action. Johnson seemed to want to speed things up, but Reynolds balked at every turn.

The match played out pretty well, lots of high offense and back and forth exchanges, but an absolutely dead crowd. They had very little reaction to the action in the ring, and only really made noise when prompted by Evil Uno on the outside.

They did show some signs of life near the end of the match when Johnson countered a potential pedigree with a huricanrana pinning attempt, and when Reynolds executed a picture-perfect neckbreaker to try and get a pin of his own.

In the end, Johnson drove Reynolds’ face into the corner and superkicked Uno on the outside to create some separation and set up the Big Shot Drop and get the pin.

Marina Shafir defeated Erica Leigh

ROH has a problem and that problem is that I keep making the same joke about Shafir every week. So, this week it was all serious business when the hard-hitting Shafir took on Leigh.

As she’s done the last few weeks, Shafir utilized her mma and amateur wresting skills to keep Leigh at bay through most of the match. Shafir’s aggression and powerful strikes were at times over the top and the commentators speculated that the Ref might even stop things.

Shafir hit a shin-based modified 619 on Leigh and locked in a Mother’s Milk sleeper, causing Leigh to pass out and earn Shafir the win.

-Backstage the Undisputed Kingdom gave an interview in which they refused to believe that their interviewer’s name was “Arkity.” Bennett began lamenting the lack of real competition in ROH, and dropped to his knees to “pray to the booker-man” Tony Kahn for him to give them a team that might live up to their talent. They then called out every tag team in the universe to come talk to them. Bennett’s prayers were answered seconds later when it was announced that Komander and Metalik would face the Kingdom next week.

Lance Archer and The Righteous (Vincent and Dutch) defeated Duke Davis, Victor Benjamin and Ganon Jones jr

If ROH TV was an hour, I could watch 55 minutes of it featuring just Vincent and Dutch snapping their fingers and hossing it up. It’s not the case though, and this match with their pal Archer was more about making statements than entertaining folks such as me.

As for the match, it didn’t really matter. Davis and Jones Jr tried their best to take out the Righteous on the outside, but it had little effect. Archer and Vincent double teamed Benjamin in the ring, with Vincent ending up as the legal man. Vincent’s unorthodox style gave Benjamin nowhere to go and he ended up bailing out of the ring. Unfortunately for him, Dutch and Archer were waitng and drove him into the ring steps.

Dutch tagged in and levelled Benjamin, cutting him off from his partners. Ganon managed to tag in though and the two big men went at it. Archer and Vincent jumped into help and laid out Ganon. Vincent was legal and came close to a pin. Dutch nailed Davis with a Boss Man Slam and then Vincent hit Orange sunshine to get the victory.

After the match, Archer hit a blackout slam on Benjamin to put a period at the end of the sentence.

Taya Valkyrie defeated Trish Adora

No one talks trash like Taya talks trash and her skills were on full display in this match with Adora. The Infantry accompanied Adora to the ring, but left ringside after the entrance.

Valkyrie jumped Adora right off of the Code of Honor and the two began exchanging big chops. Valkyrie had a big ol’ smile on her face as she twisted and wrenched Adora’s elbow. Adora responded with a splits submission move that looked genuinely painful.

Ever the opportunist, Valkyrie took advantage of Adora being dazed and kicked her head into the mat, not once but twice. She then covered her up, getting the pin and the victory.

-Backstage, Leyla Hirsch discussed her match with Diamante last week. Diamante interrupted and said she was here for a fight! Hirsch challenged her to a No Holds Barred match and Dimante accepted.

ROH Women’s World TV Champion Billie Starkz defeated Angelica Risk in a Proving Ground match

In this Proving Ground Match, if Risk could last 10 minutes or pin ROH Women’s TV Champion Starkz, she would get a shot at that very title at a later date. Starkz had to keep looking over her shoulder though, as her BFF Athena suffered a brutal attack by Queen Aminata and Rev Velvet last week.

Starkz was her usually bratty self, but after the events of last week, she came with a lot more aggression than usual. Some of the stomps and strikes on Risk looked extremely violent. The Ref had to step in a couple of times as the was not a match, it was a fight.

Risk did her best to fight back, but Starkz threw her to the outside and drove her face-first into the barricade. Starkz called out “that’s for you, Boss” as she doled out the violence in Athena’s name. Risk managed to get a small flurry of offence in, but Starkz put an end to it quick with a big kick.

Starks put Risk in a Hammerlock submission and Risk tapped right out, walking away from a championship match.

ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defeated ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher

This Champion-vs-Champion Main Event match came somewhat out of nowhere. Fletcher was hot off of winning a killer 2-out-of-3 falls against Lee Johnson last week and Briscoe hasn’t been seen much in ROH since capturing that World Title. This match promised to be a classic though, which makes one wonder why ROH didn’t promote it more. But honestly, once we were in it, that didn’t matter.

Fletcher’s crisp, technical style was a terrific match for Briscoe’s brawler antics and the match was a blast from the start. Right out of the lockup, Briscoe was mocking Fletcher, getting in his head with Karate Kid Crane Style moves. The crowd arrived in this match, chanting “Dem Boys” whenever possible in tribute to the Briscoes.

Briscoe’s strategy was to keep the match pace under his control so Fletcher couldn’t build up steam. Lots of headlocks and arm drags stymied Fletcher as Briscoe toughed things out. Fletcher tried to hard to overpower Briscoe, but the spirit of the World Champion would not be beat. Fletcher caught Briscoe looking though and hit a big backdrop on the Ring Apron (the hardest part of the ring).

Fletcher gained control of the match, suplexing Briscoe on the concrete. Jay Lethal held the ROH World and TV titles at the same time, so the possibility of a title change here was very prominent. Fletcher threw Briscoe back in the ring for the first pin attempt, but Briscoe kicked out at one.

From there, the match went back and forth. Fletcher gaining upper hands, and Briscoe fighting his way back to upend them. Eventually the match devolved into a brawl which definitely favoured Briscoe. A fisherman’s brainbuster and some Redneck Kung Fu put Fletcher on his back, but Briscoe was only able to get the two-count.

Briscoe hit a suplex from the top rope, but both men felt the impact. Fletcher rolled out of the ring for some recovery time, but Briscoe followed him and ate a superkick for his efforts. Briscoe fought back (as he does) and landed a Cactus Jack elbow from the ring apron.

Briscoe tossed Fletcher back into the ring and tried to hit a splash from the top rope, but Fletcher had it scouted and got the knees up to block. Briscoe caught Fletcher with a Spiccoli driver and hit a Froggy Bomb off the top rope, but Fletcher kicked out at two. Briscoe hit a big lariat followed by a Jay Driller and managed to get Fletcher’s shoulders to the mat for a three-count. An absolutely fantastic match and a rare loss for Fletcher.

Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher World title match set for ROH TV

The ROH World Championship will be defended on Honorclub this week.

Mark Briscoe will defend his title against ROHT TV Champion Kyle Fletcher on Thursday’s episode of ROH TV. Fletcher likely earned the title shot after pinning Briscoe in a six-man tag match on the June 12 AEW Dynamite. He’s also defended his TV title seven times on ROH programming since winning it in December.

Briscoe vs. Fletcher was taped last Thursday at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA. Spoilers from the show are available here.

Fletcher’s TV title will not be on the line in the match.

This will be Briscoe’s first defense of his championship since winning it from Eddie Kingston at Supercard of Honor on April 5, 2024. It will be Briscoe’s first time wrestling on ROH TV since defeating Griff Garrison in a Proving Ground match on April 13.

Three matches have been announced for ROH TV this week.

Ring of Honor TV announced lineup for Thursday, June 27, 2024 —

  • ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defends against ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher
  • ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz vs. Angelica Risk in a Proving Ground match
  • Taya Valkyrie vs. Trish Adora

All-Star eight-man tag, Swerve/Ospreay face-off added to AEW Dynamite

An all-star eight man tag has been added to the next AEW Dynamite.

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Dante Martin will team together this Wednesday to face off against Roderick Strong, Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and Zack Sabre Jr. The match was announced during an O’Reilly/Anthony Henry match on Collision. After O’Reilly won, he and Strong, who was doing commentary, had a staredown.

Briscoe, Martin, and Takeshita have all qualified for the upcoming ladder match at Forbidden Door that will determine the next TNT Champion. Cassidy and Sabre will meet at Forbidden Door as well after Sabre issued the challenge.

A face-to-face between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay has also been added after the two confronted one another at the end of Dynamite. After Strickland said Ospreay couldn’t hold both the AEW World and International titles on his shoulders, Ospreay defied Strickland by taking the AEW World Championship and placed it on his shoulder. Strickland took the belt back, telling Ospreay he’s only standing now because they are friends.

Here is the updated lineup for Wednesday:

  • MJF vs. Rush kicks off the show commercial-free
  • AEW Tag Team title eliminator: The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) vs. The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens)
  • Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Dante Martin vs. Roderick Strong, Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita, and Zack Sabre Jr.
  • Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa contract signing
  • Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay face-to-face

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. Hobbs IWGP World title match

Jon Moxley makes his first defense of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP title at NJPW Windy City Riot earlier this month, and defends against Powerhouse Hobbs of the Don Callis Family on tonight’s episode.

New AEW Champion Swerve Strickland will take on ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher tonight in a World title eliminator match.

After defeating Julia Hart for the TBS Championship at Dynasty, Willow Nightingale will have a title celebration on tonight’s show. Willow will defend the TBS title against Mercedes Mone at Double or Nothing next month.

New FTW Champion Chris Jericho will speak on tonight’s episode.

Chuck Taylor will be forced to declare whether Orange Cassidy or Trent Beretta is his best friend on tonight’s show after Beretta’s recent turn against Cassidy.

Mina Shirakawa will also be in action on tonight’s show against Anna Jay.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as we go to footage from earlier in the day of The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada arriving to the arena when another car pulls up behind them and out steps Jack Perry. Security tries to escort Perry away when The Bucks say he’s with them.

Chuck Taylor Decides Who Is His Best Friend

Orange Cassidy’s music hits, he doesn’t initially come out, but instead thrown to the stage by Trent Beretta, who continues the beating into the ring. Beretta grabs the microphone and tells Chuck Taylor that it’s time and to get out to the ring. Chuck Taylor slowly walks to the ring from the stands, as Beretta apologizes for not doing this sooner to Cassidy, spending five years hugging a narcissistic prick. Beretta said Cassidy was supposed to be their mascot, yet they ended up being his lacky’s. Cassidy doesn’t care about Taylor, he’s not his friend, but Beretta is, he cares about Taylor. Beretta tells Taylor to give the people what they want and asks for a hug, but Taylor, who took a long time to contemplate, stopped and said he always knew Beretta was a piece of sh*t. Beretta bailed, as Taylor said the doctors won’t clear him for the ring, so he wants to fight in the parking lot. Taylor checked on Cassidy, while Beretta left through the crowd. The boyhood dream has come true for Chuck Taylor, he finally got to say sh*t on Dynamite.

-Jon Moxley is backstage and said tonight people shouldn’t underestimate his opponent tonight, Powerhouse Hobbs, who looks like a truck and hits like one too. Moxley knows what’s at stake tonight, all he needs to do is make one mistake and everything he has could come crashing down. Moxley knows the Don Callis Family put a hit on his friend and knows what it takes to get the job done. Tonight will suck, he’s going to take a beating, but this is the greatest sport in the world, tonight he’ll remind everyone exactly why, they’ll know from Jacksonville to Tokyo.

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated ROH TV Champion Kyle Fletcher (w/Don Callis) in a Title Eliminator

(The Swerve Era as AEW World Champion has officially begun, though I wish he would’ve had more of a dominant performance following a title win instead of a very back and forth battle. This does continue the run of great singles matches Fletcher has been having. The only bad thing is he’s lost all of them, as I’m not saying he should be beating Strickland, but give Fletcher a win here and there, not just on ROH, where he’s still the TV Champion.)

Prince Nana walked on stage and told everyone to give it up for the new AEW World Champion before dancing Strickland to the ring. Callis joined commentary, he calls Fletcher a puppy with big paws and said The Family is always looking to recruit. Both men traded ground work early, with neither able to gain the upper hand, which led to a stalemate. Strickland floated over a corner charge and caught Fletcher with a leaping thrust kick and follow up diving uppercut to the back. Fletcher answered by sending Strickland to the floor, but wasted time jaw jacking with Nana, allowing Strickland to hit a back drop and pump kick off the apron.

Strickland controlled the entire break and when things returned, Fletcher escaped the arm breaker and threw a series of strikes. Strickland tried to flip out, but ate a thrust kick and Michinoku Driver. We see backstage footage of The Elite & Jack Perry walking into Tony Khan’s office, as back to the ring, Fletcher tried a half and half on the apron, but Strickland countered into a neckbreaker. Strickland delivered a Swerve Stomp on the edge of the ring, but came up clutching his ankle. Back inside, Fletcher sank in an ankle lock, but Strickland got the ropes. Both men up, trading a series of counters, as Strickland connected on an up kick, rolling Flatliner and brainbuster for a near fall. Both men traded Tombstone attempts, with Fletcher connecting on a spinning Tombstone for two.

Callis screams Melbourne from commentary, as Fletcher went to grab something under the ring, but decided not to, instead going back to the ring. Callis said he was supposed to get a table, as Fletcher hit a leaping corner kick. Strickland fought out of the corner, trapped Fletcher in the ropes and nailed a Swerve Stomp, but Fletcher kicked out once more. Strickland hit a House Call flush and got the victory.

Excalibur tells us Kenny Omega will return next week when Dynamite is in Winnipeg.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Thunder Rosa and said she’s not going to make excuses for losing at the Pay Per View, but lists the things that went wrong for her. Deonna Purrazzo storms in and they have a shoving match, with security separating them. I should point out, the audio levels have been very low tonight and makes it really difficult to hear backstage segments, even with the TV volume turned up. I assume it’s because this is outdoors at Daily’s Place.

-A recap of the Bryan Danielson & Will Ospreay match is shown from Dynasty in one of the greatest matches of all time. You’ve heard this many times already I’m sure, but go out of your way to watch this match if for some reason you haven’t yet.

Mina Shirakawa (w/Mariah May) defeated Anna Jay

(A lot of this took place during break, but Shirakawa looked good in her AEW in ring debut. The bigger story here was the post-match, as Storm saved her biggest fan and also found out who is next in line for her Women’s title. Which, whenever that happens, should be a good one.)

Excalibur brought up the history that May & Shirakawa have dating back to their Stardom days as part of Club Venus and teaming as Rose Gold, Taz said they were awfully close as tag partners. Jay tried a quick start, but Shirakawa targeted the knees, avoided a Jay corner charge and popped her with a comeback kick. A tilt a whirl leg sweep connected before again going after the right leg. Jay quickly scurried to the ropes to break a Figure Four and raked the eyes while on the apron before hitting a neckbreaker through the ropes to control the action during commercial.

Back from break, both ladies are slugging it out before Shirakawa connected on a discus forearm. Jay avoided a corner charge, but Shirakawa was there with a diving knee drop to the chest. Jay battled back with the Dangerous Jay Kick and Gory Bomb, but Shirakawa kicked out. Shirakawa managed to hit a dragon screw and again with the Figure Four, but Jay once more got the ropes. Shirakawa fired off a missile dropkick and enzugiri, but Jay floated over the Glamour Driver into the Queenslayer. Jay was too distracted by May ringside, allowing Shirakawa to escape into the Glamour Connection pin attempt and got the flash pin.

Post match, May came in the ring with champagne to celebrate when Jay attacked from behind and applied the Queenslayer. Timeless Toni Storm ran to the ring, as Jay bailed with Storm clutching the fallen May. Serena Deeb then walks out to the stage, tosses aside Storm’s shoes and instead grabs the AEW Women’s Title. Deeb said the next time she touches the title; it will belong to her. So Deeb called her shot as the next challenger for Storm’s title.

The Willow Nightingale TBS Title Celebration

Fresh off their party at Chuck E Cheese, which Stokely Hathaway promised at Dynasty, Hathaway compared one of his best friends winning the TBS Title at Dynasty to Bill Withers song Lovely Day. Kris Statlander recited a poem about Nightingale, which Hathaway described as two packs of ass, as both of them introduce Nightingale to the ring. Caprice Coleman joined commentary to sing along Nightingale’s entrance.

Hathaway said he initially didn’t like Nightingale (she admitted the feeling was mutual) when they first met and compared her to a fungus, but ultimately said she grew on him and he’s proud of her. Nightingale talked about a few years ago she had her All Elite graphic on the big screen and tonight, it says Congrats Willow and she’s the face of TBS.

Mercedes Mone once again interrupts and steals Nightingale’s spotlight and walks to the ring. Mone told the fans to say hello to their CEO. Nightingale said this is about the fourth time she’s interrupted her and if she has something to say, say it. Mone said she just wants to congratulate her and in 32 days, you’re looking at the next TBS Champion. Mone brings up Nightingale possibly attacking her last week, Statlander said it couldn’t have been her and questions if Mone was even actually attacked. Hathaway said it obviously was Julia Hart. Nightingale asks if Mone believes she intentionally hurt her in their match last year and Statlander had to hold back Hathaway for saying obviously she does.

Mone said Nightingale doesn’t want the truth, she just wants to make herself feel better for what happened. Nightingale said she genuinely felt awful, looked at the title in her hotel room and questioned if she could actually beat Mone? She feels like there should be an asterisk next to that title win, but not next to her TBS Title win. Nightingale will show Mone why she’s the TBS Champion. Mone said enjoy it while she can, as she knows deep down, she can’t beat her. Statlander grabbed the arm of Mone, who turned back and slapped Nightingale, thinking it was her. Statlander held back Nightingale with Hathaway, as referee Bryce had to escort Mone out of the ring.

-Alex Marvez is outside of Tony Khan’s office and tries asking The Elite & Jack Perry if Perry is reinstated, but all of them brush him off, except Matthew Jackson, who said Tony Khan just agreed to meet Jack Perry in the ring, tonight. We saw footage of NJPW Battle in the Valley when Jack Perry ripped up his AEW contract.

Will Ospreay Won The Casino Gauntlet for the International Title shot at Double or Nothing

(I have zero clue why this match wasn’t announced prior to the show, as this had some pretty heavy hitters involved, you would think you’d want to promote this, especially being a newer concept match. We’re not even going to try to figure out what the intervals were for entrants in this, as it was all over the place. This was chaotic fun, as it was big move after big move in the finish, as the match is official for Double or Nothing, Will Ospreay challenges for his first singles title as a member of the AEW roster.)

Switchblade Jay White & Dante Martin began, as commentary said they don’t know how many competitors will be in this, it’s Sudden Death, as whoever gets a pinfall or submission at any point, wins the match. So they said if White or Martin get either right away, the match is over. Martin had a lightning quick start, showing off his speed with a dropkick, as White side stepped a dive, but Martin landed on his feet and hit a pump knee. Back inside, a Uranage launched Martin over the top to the outside, as Penta El Zero Miedo was the next to enter, with a cross body off the top as things went to commercial.

Kyle O’Reilly was next to enter after break, going right after everyone’s arms. O’Reilly tried an arm bar on Martin, but switched to a heel hook on White. Will Ospreay is the fifth entrant and immediately slugs it out with O’Reilly, as the crowd is going wild for Ospreay, who quickly hit Pip, Pip, Cheerio. Martin & Penta tried to double team Ospreay, who met them with a double handspring Pele Kick. White attempted to attack, but instead we got a face off, as a lot of history between he & Ospreay. White faked a handshake and instead traded chops with White, who wisely bailed, as Ospreay hit a Standing Spanish Fly on Martin for two. Lance Archer storms to the ring next and lays out everyone with big time shots, including chokeslamming Martin onto White. Penta was mowed down, as O’Reilly countered a choke slam into a guillotine, but he launched O’Reilly to the floor. Archer grabbed Ospreay and hit a Black Out over the top onto a pile of guys leading to another commercial break. This allowed Archer to set up tables ringside.

Komander was out next and did a top rope walk on Archer, who almost got a powerbomb off the apron, but turned it into a hurricanrana through the tables. Komander & Ospreay went a mile a minute back in the ring, as Ospreay hit a wall walk enzugiri, but Komander was right there with a Déjà Vu head scissors. White tried to pick up the pieces, but Ospreay flipped out of Blade Runner into a Liger Bomb for two. Ospreay signaled for Hidden Blade when Jay Lethal’s music hit and he got distracted. Lethal ran wild, dropping Penta with Lethal Injection, but White was there for a Sleeper Suplex. Everyone took turns hitting the ring with home run shots, as Ospreay & O’Reilly had a wild sequence of counters, as Ospreay avoided a Nigel Lariat into Hidden Blade. Ospreay was looking for Tiger Driver 91, when he stopped, as he promised not to use it after hurting Bryan Danielson at Dynasty. O’Reilly applied the cross-arm breaker, as Komander flew in with the rope walk Shooting Star, allowing Ospreay to fire a Hidden Blade to pin Komander. Tony Schiavone right before the finish mentioned 21 men could’ve been possible to enter this match.

Ospreay will challenge Roderick Strong for the International Title at Double or Nothing, as Strong made his way to the stage with all of The Undisputed Kingdom. Strong & Ospreay had a face off in the ring, as Strong held up his International Title.

**********

Chris Jericho walked to the ring with the FTW Title and is officially nicknamed The Learning Tree. Taz said HOOK is not cleared to travel due to the injuries he sustained at Dynasty, as Jericho gloats about winning the FTW Title. Jericho said the letters FTW now mean For The World, as it’s for all the fans, they won this together. Jericho is doing God’s work, the God of pro wrestling, Terry Funk, taking youngsters to the next level. Jericho gives it up to HOOK, who just need to get rid of the dead weight that surrounds him like Taz & Tony Schiavone. HOOK forced Jericho to hit him with a baseball bat, as he should’ve stayed down. Jericho talks about people entering the Jericho Vortex and coming out better on the other side.

Big Bill walks out from the back and has only one thing to say, he needs the guidance of The Learning Tree, the Socrates of Pro Wrestling, always willing to take a less established guy and bring him right up to the top with him. Jericho knows deep down that Bill is the very best fit for The Learning Tree. Jericho said he’s been a fan of Bill’s for years and reason why he’s in AEW, so he’ll keep an eye on him. Bill said for Jericho to watch him, as he leaves and Jericho waves to the fans, showing off a sticker with his name on it on the FTW Title.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis, who called Ospreay the Golden Goose, but questioned why he didn’t use the Tiger Driver on Kyle O’Reilly? Ospreay said he’s hurt people with it and doesn’t need to do it any longer. Callis doesn’t like the sound of that, as he cuts off Fletcher from trying to interject, saying he has no room to talk after losing tonight. Callis said Roderick Strong has had neck issues in the past and wants there to be more when Ospreay wins the International Title. Callis leaves to go manage Powerhouse Hobbs, as Fletcher is left looking at Ospreay, dejected.

**********

Jon Moxley defeated Powerhouse Hobbs (w/Don Callis) to retain the IWGP World Title

Callis joins commentary again, which bums everyone out, as Moxley tried an early choke, but Hobbs used his power to avoid that. Moxley floated over a fall away slam, hit a German suplex, but Hobbs no sold and launched Moxley with a Taz-plex to the outside. Hobbs tried to attack on the floor, but Moxley sent him over the barricade with a big boot. They brawl in the fans, as Excalibur reminds us it’s a 20 count due to being for the IWGP Title, as both beat the count at 18. With no heads up, the show just cuts to picture in picture, where Hobbs controlled the action the entire time, with World’s Strongest Slams on the edge of the ring.

Back from break, Moxley tried mounting a comeback with a Cutter, but was Pounced in mid air. Hobbs missed a corner charge and landed on the floor, as Moxley met him with a Tope, as Hobbs was grabbing his right knee. Commentary asks if Callis wanted to check on Hobbs, but Callis said there are doctors for that. Back inside, Hobbs couldn’t put weight on the leg, as Moxley dished out corner punches in bunches before a Paradigm Shift hit for two. Moxley slapped on the Rear Naked Choke and Hobbs slowly faded, giving Moxley the victory. Doctors immediately jumped in to check on Hobbs, as he legit hurt his leg it seems. Callis said injuries happen, but he’s more concerned about the loss. Moxley looked in the camera and told Ren Narita he’s a dead man before we see Konosuke Takeshita staring Moxley down at the stage, motioning for the IWGP Title.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Katsuyori Shibata, who held his phone up and challenged Chris Jericho to a FTW Title match under FTW Rules in Winnipeg and he’ll chop down The Learning Tree. Shibata tells Paquette the rhinestones on her top make a heart, that’s fun, Paquette agreed.

Tony Khan In Ring Meeting with Jack Perry

Tony Schiavone introduced Perry to the ring with no music of video. Cry Me A River chants rang out through Daily’s Place and Perry smirked. Perry said he’s had some of the best nights in his life in Jacksonville, but tonight, he has business to handle, face to face with Tony Khan. “He’s Our Scapegoat” chants are heard, as Khan makes his way to the ring. Perry said it’s been a long road, as almost 5 years ago it was the first Double or Nothing and AEW has since changed the world. Perry said it’s no secret he & Khan haven’t always seen eye to eye, but promises the only thing he’s ever wanted was what’s best for AEW. Perry asks Khan to shake his hand an reinstate him, so they can change the world together. Khan smiled and shook Perry’s hand before hugging him, as Perry smirked at the camera. Perry raised Khan’s hand before punching him in the stomach with the microphones.

The Elite run to the ring and told Perry this wasn’t what was supposed to happen. The Bucks go to help up Khan, but the fans know what’s coming, as Okada steps between them. Okada signals up, as Matthew picks up Khan and Nicholas leaps off the top for a Tony Khan Driver, as Perry drags the body of Khan in front of their feet. Perry goes to the corner and flips off the crowd, as Matthew thanks the crowd for coming out, as referees and doctors check on Khan. The Bucks, Okada & Perry leave together and all raise their hands at the top of the stage, saying it’s time to Change the World. After The Elite bailed, wrestlers and even Shad Khan came out from the back to check on Tony to end the show. This was a major angle to end Dynamite.

Swerve Strickland vs. Kyle Fletcher title eliminator match set for AEW Dynamite

A title eliminator match is set for AEW Dynamite.

Tony Khan announced on Wednesday that Swerve Strickland will face ROH Television Champion Kyle Fletcher in a title eliminator match. The match comes just days after Strickland defeated Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty to win the AEW World Championship for the first time. Fletcher most recently teamed with Konosuke Takeshita, losing to Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli on Collision.

“Will AEW’s home venue be Swerve’s House when ROH World TV Champion Kyle Fletcher challenges the NEW AEW World Champion in an Eliminator TOMORROW?” Khan wrote on X.

Another match will see Anna Jay face Stardom’s Mina Shirakawa. On the April 10 edition of Dynamite, Shirakawa ran to the ring to make the save for her friend Mariah May. After Jay fled, Shirakawa grabbed wine glasses and the two shared a drink. She then kissed May to end the segment.

Chuck Taylor will give his ultimatum to either Orange Cassidy or Trent Beretta over who his best friend is after Beretta told Taylor to make a choice at AEW Dynasty. We’ll also hear from Chris Jericho following his FTW Championship win.

Also added to Wednesday’s lineup, new TBS Champion Willow Nightingale will celebrate her title win.

Here is the updated lineup for AEW Dynamite, which will be held at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville and will air live coast-to-coast at 8 pm ET:

  • IWGP World Championship: Jon Moxley defends against Powerhouse Hobbs
  • AEW World title eliminator match: Swerve Strickland vs. Kyle Fletcher
