Jack Perry shares update on his injured ankle

Following the recent episode of AEW Collision, Jack Perry shared the latest update on his injured ankle.

As reported by our Bryan Alvarez previously, Perry ‘injured’ his ankle while performing a suicide dive against Kazuchika Okada last week, but was “fine” coming out of the match. After defeating “Speedball “Mike Bailey in the Continental Classic tournament on Saturday’s AEW Collision Holiday Bash, Perry opened up about his current injury status.

“My ankle feels like sh*t, my mouth tastes like Speedball’s toes,” Perry said. “But all in all, I’m pretty damn happy because I am finally on the board in the Continental Classic.”

“That was three points right there, I got two more matches: PAC and Kyle Fletcher, and these guys are animals, but one way or another, I think I might just find a way to take this whole thing home.”

AEW Collision Holiday Bash results

  • Continental Classic Gold league: Jack Perry defeated Speedball Mike Bailey
  • Eddie Kingston defeated Nathan Cruz
  • Alex Windsor defeated Mercedes Mone to win the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Title
  • Continental Classic Gold league: Kevin Knight defeated Kazuchika Okada

Jack Perry suffers legitimate injury at AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming

Jack Perry got injured at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming, but was still able to work through his match.

Perry was facing Kazuchika Okada in a Continental Classic Gold league match when he attempted a suicide dive on Okada who was standing on the ringside floor.

Shortly after Dynamite, our Bryan Alvarez reported that Perry legitimately hurt his ankle on the dive with Alvarez noting Perry worked through it and now looks to be “fine.”

It was Perry’s first match in the tournament as he replaced the injured Darby Allin. It’s unclear what the extent of the injury is.

Following tonight’s Dynamite, Okada and Kyle Fletcher sit at the top of the Gold league with six points each while Konosuke Takeshita and Claudio Castagnoli lead the Blue league with six points each.

Ongoing AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming results:

  • Babes of Wrath defeated Timeless Love Bombs to win the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship
  • Kazuchika Okada defeated Jack Perry in a Continental Classic Gold league match
  • Hangman Page & Swerve Strickland defeated Katsuyori Shibata & Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Speedball Mike Bailey defeated Kyle Fletcher in a Continental Classic Gold league match
  • Samoa Joe defeated Eddie Kingston to retain the AEW World Championship

Darby Allin out of AEW Continental Classic, replacement named

As was feared earlier this week, former TNT Champion Darby Allin is out of this year’s AEW Continental Classic after just one match.

Announced during Saturday’s AEW Collision, the injuries Allin suffered ten days ago in his tournament opener against Kevin Knight on Dynamite were enough to take him out. It’s still unknown and unreported what the exact injuries Allin suffered were and how, but they were bad enough to put him in the hospital.

Allin’s announced replacement is “Jungle” Jack Perry who will take a break from his Jurassic Express duties to return to the AEW singles ranks for the first time since November 2024. Like Komander who replaced the injured Juice Robinson last year, he enters at a disadvantage given the timing.

It will be Perry’s first Continental Classic and he will join the Gold league, joining Knight, Kazuchika Okada, PAC, Kyle Fletcher, and Mike Bailey. In some foreshadowing, Perry and Okada had a recent staredown.

Jack Perry opens up about Luchasaurus 2024 health battle: ‘He could have just died’

Luchasaurus’ battle with pneumonia was a scary situation that could have had a fatal ending if he didn’t get treatment in time.

While speaking with TV Insider, Jack Perry — Luchasaurus’ tag team partner — opened up about the health struggles his friend went through. That battle saw Luchasaurus (40-year-old Austin Matelson) hospitalized with pneumonia in both lungs in September 2024. He was away from TV for a year until returning this summer at Forbidden Door 2025.

Perry told TV Insider that, before the September 2024 hospitalization, Luchasaurus thought he was just dealing with a cold. Things could have been much worse if Luchasaurus avoided getting treatment any longer.

“I remember talking to him on the phone a lot during that time,” Perry said. “He said, ‘I have this cold and can’t seem to get rid of it. I’d say for the past two or three weeks.’ He didn’t think much of it. People were saying he was tough. That it was a cold. ‘You’ll get over this.’ It turned out it wasn’t a cold but pneumonia.

“Thankfully, he went to the hospital when he did. He ended up collapsing and [it] was this whole thing. They said to him, ‘if you didn’t come in right about now, there is a good chance you could have died.’ Hearing that puts things in perspective a little bit. He is one of my best friends, not just in wrestling, but the entire world. He could have just died and that would have been it. I don’t know. It was one of those things that makes you look at your own life and think about it.”

When Luchsaurus’ situation improved, he and Perry started talking about reuniting their Jurassic Express team. The former tag champs are set to make their return to Dynamite tonight on tonight’s sixth anniversary episode.

“It turned out to be hell on earth making it happen,” Perry told TV Insider about the reunion. “It was the hardest thing in the world to get all the pieces together to finally do it. There were medical things, physical things, people getting in the way trying to make it not happen, but it eventually came together. It felt like it was the perfect moment when it finally did. I’m super grateful to be back and get that sort of reaction and do it with my best friend. I’m happy he is healthy now and seeing it all come together the way it did.”

Jack Perry wants to bring ‘darker vibe’ to AEW team

Now back in AEW after a long absence, Jack Perry is ready to show fans a new side of Jurassic Express.

Perry joined forces with Luchasaurus at All Out earlier this month, reuniting their team that was one of the most popular acts during the early years of AEW. It marked Perry’s return to AEW after having been away from TV since late 2024.

Though he’s back to being more of a babyface, Perry told Vice that he likes when that designation isn’t so black and white. He thinks Jurassic Express will have a darker vibe in this reunion run.

“It was interesting with the Scapegoat thing because I would get a mixed reaction. At certain times, I almost felt like a babyface. My idea was, I’m not the bad guy, I’m really the ultimate good guy here,” Perry said.

“I think it’s more interesting when it’s not so black and white and I think even if it’s leaning more towards the babyface side, I think there’s definitely a darker vibe with both of us than there was before. It’s a story, it’s always evolving. We are evolving. The sort of world that we are in is evolving. I think the more we can be open to that the more interesting it’ll be and the better it is.”

Jurassic Express had one reign as AEW Tag Team Champions in 2022, while Perry and Luchasaurus have each held the TNT title individually.

Perry told Vice that a Jurassic Express reunion was always going to happen at some point — and he believes their popular “Tarzan Boy” theme music is here to stay for this run.

On AEW Dynamite’s sixth anniversary episode this Wednesday, Jurassic Express will officially make their return to the show. Opponents for their first match back have not been announced yet.

“In terms of physicality, this is the longest that I’ve gone [without wrestling] in my life since I was like 16 or 17 years old,” Perry said. “I’m sure it’s gonna feel absolutely horrible the day after my first match back; that’s just part of the game. But I’m looking forward to it.”

Jack Perry returns at AEW All Out, reunites with Luchasaurus

In a reunion teased for several weeks, former AEW World Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express officially reunited at Saturday’s All Out.

It happened following the four-way Tag Team title ladder match that saw Brodido retain the titles. The Young Bucks, who were in the match, were hanging around in the ring afterward when Jack Perry came in to confront them.

Perry hasn’t been seen in AEW since November 2024 and hasn’t wrestled since this past January’s NJPW Wrestle Dynasty. Recent episodes of BTE on YouTube have teased his return with his former Elite-mates in the Young Bucks as a focus.

Perry went after the Jacksons, but eventually got hit with a double superkick. The two were about to take Perry out with a BTE tigger when he smiled and the lights went out. A full video that has been shown in clips for Luchasaurus’ recent return then played, showing Perry was the one who brought him back to life.

The now-former Killswitch returned in August after nearly a year’s absence due to complications from double pneumonia in his lungs.

He then appeared in the ring behind the Bucks and took them out, eventually removing his belt that read ‘Killswitch’ and tossing it into the crowd to show he is returning back to his old pre-Patriarchy name. He split with Kip Sabian and Mother Wayne this past Wednesday after the two lost in an qualifier for the aforementioned ladder match.

Perry and Luchasaurus then hugged and their old entrance music played as they took in the cheers from the fans. The two are AEW originals, first forming their team with the now-retired Marko Stunt.

The duo held the titles for 161 days in 2022, but haven’t teamed since June of that same year. The two split and feuded, ending in a steel cage match Perry won at November 2022’s Full Gear.

Return of AEW star teases continue on Being the Elite

A storyline involving The Young Bucks and Jack Perry continues to be teased on Being the Elite.

A new episode of the series was released on Monday. In the video, Matt Jackson receives a package in the mail that contains a large knife and a note that reads: “For the next time you want to stab me in the back.”

On a previous episode, Jackson was shown ignoring a phone call from Perry.

Perry has also posted on Instagram about making knives, sharing several images of ones he has made using tree bark.

The Bucks won $500,000 on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite when they teamed with members of The Death Riders to win a ten-man tag match, after Jon Moxley had promised the brothers the full share of the purse. In the new BTE episode, the Bucks are shown using the money to gamble on slot machines.

The full episode, titled “Gambling 500K on slots,” is available below.

The Young Bucks tease return of AEW star in new BTE video

The Young Bucks have released their second Being the Elite video in recent days.

The 47-second video published on Monday shows Matt and Nick Jackson in their hotel room surrounded by empty Pepsi bottles and pizza boxes watching footage of the Lights Out Steel Cage match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Matt’s phone rings and when he picks it up the caller ID shows the name Jack Perry. Matt didn’t take the call.

The episode titled “Guess Who Called The Bucks” is available here and below this article.

The X account WrestleVotes reported in July that Perry had been backstage at AEW events, while Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted in a recent Q&A that there have been discussions about Perry’s return.

Perry, 28, hasn’t wrestled since Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome on January 5, where he unsuccessfully challenged Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. He last wrestled for AEW at Full Gear 2024 on November 23, losing the TNT Championship to Daniel Garcia.

The new episode of Being the Elite is available below:

Two new matches official for Wrestle Dynasty

Two new additions to the Wrestle Dynasty card have now been made official.

Taking place the day after Wrestle Kingdom 19, Wrestle Dynasty is being held at the Tokyo Dome on January 5. It’s airing on NJPW World and will feature wrestlers from NJPW, AEW, Stardom, CMLL, and ROH.

Jack Perry vs. Yota Tsuji is now official for the event. It was set up when AEW wrestler Perry showed up and attacked Tsuji at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed last Friday.

It’s also been announced that, in a potential double title match, Tomohiro Ishii will face either Shingo Takagi or Konosuke Takeshita at Wrestle Dynasty. Takagi is defending his NEVER Openweight Championship against Takeshita at Wrestle Kingdom. If Takeshita is still AEW International Champion, that title will be on the line as well. The winner will then defend against Ishii at Wrestle Dynasty.

The updated Wrestle Dynasty card is listed below:

Wrestle Dynasty (Sunday, January 5) —

  • Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ricochet
  • Jack Perry vs. Yota Tsuji
  • Tomohiro Ishii challenges either Shingo Takagi or Konosuke Takeshita for the NEVER Openweight Championship (will be a double title match with the AEW International Championship also on the line if Takeshita is still champion going into Wrestle Kingdom 19)

Jack Perry vs. Daniel Garcia TNT title match official for AEW Full Gear

The TNT title will be on the line at Full Gear.

It was confirmed during Collision that Jack Perry would be defending the TNT title against Daniel Garcia on November 23. After Perry defeated Action Andretti to retain the title, Garcia came out and officially challenged Perry, calling him an entitled nepo baby. Perry responded by saying he accepted the challenge but told Garcia that he wasn’t ready.

Later backstage, Daddy Magic was shown talking to Garcia, telling him that everyone knows he’s ready, Garcia just needs to prove them right. Garcia promised that he would.

Garcia announced back at WrestleDream that he had officially re-signed with AEW, and was looking to go for some gold. In the weeks since, he has confronted Perry backstage, making it clear he wanted a shot at his title.

Here’s the current card for Saturday, November 23rd in Newark, New Jersey:

  • AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defends against Orange Cassidy
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Kris Statlander
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Daniel Garcia
  • Jay White vs. Hangman Page
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Swerve Strickland
  • MJF vs. either Adam Page or Roderick Strong
  • Four-way match for AEW Tag Team titles: Private Party defends against The Outrunners, TBD, and TBD
  • Zero Hour: Costco Guy AJ vs. QT Marshall

Jack Perry issues challenge to Yota Tsuji for NJPW Wrestle Dynasty

Jack Perry has issued a challenge for Wrestle Dynasty.

After his match at Fighting Spirit Unleashed, Yota Tsuji was leaving the ring when the lights went out. A video played showing someone putting a knife to a picture of Tsuji. When the lights came back on, Perry attacked Tsuji and threw him back into the ring, laying him out with a running knee. He then officially challenged Tsuji for Wrestle Dynasty.

During his suspension from AEW last year, Perry worked shows both in America and in Japan for NJPW, joining the House of Torture stable. Upon his return to AEW, he quickly aligned himself as part of a new Elite stable with himself, The Young Bucks, and Kazuchika Okada. He won the TNT Championship back at Forbidden Door, winning a ladder match.

During Fighting Spirit Unleashed, Jon Moxley appeared via video to send a message to Shota Umino, declaring that he would send an ‘emissary’ to the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Dynasty.

Several new matches & appearances added to AEW Collision lineup

Image: AEW

A handful of new matches and appearances are on tap for this Saturday’s AEW Collision, taped Thursday in Providence, Rhode Island.

Ahead of their impending match against FTR in the contender’s series to be part of a Tag Team title four-way at Full Gear, the House of Black will be in trios action against the Iron Savages.

After taking out Mercedes Mone and Kamille Wednesday following her nearly being run over, Kris Statlander will be in action against Ashley Vox who she feuded with on the indies.

TNT Champion Jack Perry will be in action as he goes one-on-one with Action Andretti.

Former AEW International Champion Roderick Strong will look to make it two in a row when he faces The Beast Mortos. If he and Adam Cole each win three straight, they will face MJF in a three-way at Full Gear. If one of them loses, it’s a one-on-one match with MJF instead.

After defeating Anna Jay recently to retain her AEW Women’s World title, Mariah May will be on hand to share some thoughts.

The new additions join the previously announced AEW Trios title match, the first AEW Tag Team title four-way contender’s series match, and Nick Wayne vs. AR Fox.

Two title matches, Darby Allin open challenge added to AEW WrestleDream

Two title matches and an open challenge by Darby Allin have been made for this month’s AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view — all made during Wednesday’s fifth anniversary episode of Dynamite.

One of those matches will see Ring of Honor World Champion Mark Briscoe defend against Chris Jericho, made during a Jericho Learning Tree segment.

Jericho pinned Briscoe in a tornado trios match on this past Saturday’s Grand Slam Collision and then called Briscoe out Wednesday, offering up a challenge for Briscoe’s title. Briscoe came out and things got heated when Jericho evoked the name of Mark’s late brother, Jay. Mark laid out Jericho with an uppercut and accepted for the PPV.

This will be their first-ever singles match. Jericho will look to reclaim the ROH title he held for 80 days in 2022 while Briscoe is gunning for his fifth title defense.

Right afterward, Darby Allin was featured during a pre-taped promo — his first since losing his AEW World title shot to Jon Moxley on last Wednesday’s Grand Slam Dynamite. After discussing his disappointment about the loss, he offered up an open challenge for anyone in the locker room to step up and try to make their name against him.

After Katsuyori Shibata came out to aid Minoru Suzuki after his defeat to TNT Champion Jack Perry on this past Saturday’s AEW Collision, the two agreed to a title match for the Saturday, October 12th PPV.

Perry was entering the building when Shibata found him and used his phone to issue the challenge. Perry said he would think about it and then jumped Shibata, laying him out. With Shibata incapacitated, Perry then said he accepted.

Perry has five title defenses under his belt while Shibata has yet to win AEW gold. This will be their first-ever singles bout.

Here’s the current lineup for Saturday, October 12th in Tacoma, Washington:

  • AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson defends against Jon Moxley
  • TNT Champion Jack Perry defends against Katsuyori Shibata
  • ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defends against Chris Jericho
  • Darby Allin vs. TBD
