Lyra Valkyria vs. Ivy Nile Women’s title qualifying match announced for NXT

Two qualifying matches for the Women’s Championship ladder match at Stand & Deliver will take place on NXT.

WWE has announced Lyra Valkyria vs. Ivy Nile is scheduled for Tuesday’s show. The winner will be entered into the title match on April 1 in Los Angeles.

WWE has previously advertised that Valkyria would face Wendy Choo on Tuesday but has since changed the match to Valkyria vs. Nile. Choo has been sidelined with an injury deemed “not too serious” and was written off television via a parking lot attack on the February 28 episode.

Another qualifying match for this week’s NXT featuring Indi Hartwell vs. Tiffany Stratton was previously announced for Tuesday as well.

Zoey Stark and Gigi Dolin have already qualified to be two of the four participants at Stand & Deliver. Stark defeated Sol Ruca and Dolin defeated Kiana James in qualifying matches on last week’s show.

Shawn Michaels announced the ladder match to crown a new NXT Women’s Champion after an angle at Roadblock saw Roxanne Perez collapse following her match. Our own Dave Meltzer previously reported that the angle was done to potentially explain Perez’s absence due to a non-injury-related situation. However, on Tuesday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted that Perez will be “back in the mix” shortly.

Meltzer said:

She is okay, cleared, and will be worked back into storylines probably starting on tomorrow’s show. Somehow they are going to get her back in the mix. Whatever the issue was, they got a good report.

It’s not an injury but it was just a situation that could have kept her out. That’s why they did the thing as a backup thing. Everything’s cool and from what I was told today, now they are going to start working her back in.

WWE NXT lineup for March 21, 2023:

  • NXT Women’s Championship Qualifying match: Lyra Valkyria vs. Ivy Nile
  • NXT Women’s Championship Qualifying match: Tiffany Stratton vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Ilja Dragunov vs JD McDonagh
  • Chase U meets Schism in a “Great Debate”

Three matches added to this week’s WWE NXT

Three matches have been added to the lineup for NXT.

WWE announced on Sunday that NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus will face Edris Enofe & Malik Blade in non-title action. Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) vs. The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler) and Ivy Nile vs. Alba Fyre are also now scheduled for Tuesday.

Six matches are confirmed for this week’s show.

NXT is building to Roadblock on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Meiko Satomura has issued a challenge to NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the show.

WWE NXT on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, will take place from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. The announced lineup is as follows:

  • NXT Champion Bron Breakker defends against Jinder Mahal
  • Indi Hartwell vs. Jacy Jayne
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams
  • Ivy Nile vs. Alba Fyre
  • Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson) vs. The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler)
  • NXT Tag Team Champions, Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) vs. Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Shawn Michaels on NXT wrestlers working indies, Dijak, Grayson Waller

NXT held a media call with Shawn Michaels following the Vengeance Day premium live event to discuss the fallout from Saturday’s show.

When asked about NXT wrestlers possibly doing independent dates moving forward following the news that Ivy Nile would be working Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion, Michaels said that the booking was just “a one night deal”. He said it was just something where they were helping Booker T out with his upcoming show.

Regarding Dijak, Michaels said that x-rays were taken and, as it turns out, his finger was not broken and was being put back into place.

At one point during the media call, Grayson Waller stormed in and confronted Michaels, running him down and asking why he “wasn’t the guy”. He was eventually taken away by head trainer Matt Bloom. When Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful asked Michaels what that was about, Michaels said that there was “an incident coming back from Gorilla” between him and Waller, and Waller was “perturbed” at him.

The call finished with discussion on the participants involved in the Women’s Tag Team title match. Michaels said that both Kiana James and Fallon Henley have improved during their time in NXT, and putting them together seemed like “one of those things that worked”. He also said that Katana Chance and Kayden Carter’s futures are still “very bright” and have been the most consistent tag team in NXT.

NXT’s next live premium event will be Stand and Deliver, which will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on April 1.

Ivy Nile vs. Kiana James set for WWE NXT

A new match has been added to Tuesday’s WWE NXT lineup.

In a bout announced Sunday, Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile will take on Kiana James on Tuesday’s episode.

In addition to the Nile vs. James matchup, a North American title match is set for Tuesday, with Wes Lee set to defend the NA title against former champion Carmelo Hayes.

In another women’s division contest, Wendy Choo will face Cora Jade.

The Scrypts character is also set to debut on Tuesday’s show, plus a Toxic Attraction segment will kick off the episode. Toxic Attraction’s Mandy Rose successfully defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Alba Fyre on last week’s show, with an assist from former NXT UK talent Isla Dawn.

The updated lineup for the Tuesday, November 22 episode:

  • NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defends against Carmelo Hayes
  • Wendy Choo vs. Cora Jade
  • Ivy Nile vs. Kiana James
  • Scrypts will be revealed
  • Toxic Attraction will kick off the show

NXT UK results: Meiko Satomura vs. Ivy Nile Women’s title match

A video recapped last week’s Tag Team title match with Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith becoming champions. After the match, Trent Seven told Tyler Bate that he was “done.”

Mark Andrews defeated Kenny Williams (9:47)

Williams checked under the ring for his “stalker” Tiger Turan as the match began. Andrews hit Williams with a baseball slide and beat him around ringside. Andrews was in control until Williams rammed him into the ring post as they fought on the apron.

Andrews rolled through on a back suplex and hit one of his own but quickly found his hand being worked over again. Williams was in control until they battled on the top rope and Andrews threw him off. Williams rolled out of harm’s way and managed to pull Andrews off the top and onto the ropes arm-first.

Williams was looking to finish Andrews up, but Turan suddenly appeared on the apron, distracting Williams. He went to punch Turan, who dropped off the apron, evading the attack, allowing Andrews to roll Williams up with a small package to get the win.

– Another video looked at Seven declaring he was done last week. He will address the people next week on his status.

– Mark Coffey was asked about news from his brother Joe. Mark said he hadn’t heard from him, but then apparently received a call from Joe. Mark told Joe to call him when he needed anything or call either of their parents and told Joe to take as long as he needed. Mark seemed concerned after the call.

Symbiosis (Primate & T-Bone w/ Eddie Dennis) defeated Oli Blake & Tate Mayfairs (4:34)

Primate started strong but briefly got double-teamed. Symbiosis then systematically took apart Blake until he finally managed to tag out. Mayfairs ran wild on T-Bone but quickly got his head almost taken off by a lariat.

T-Bone hit a powerslam on Mayfairs, followed by a top rope headbutt by Primate for the dominant victory.

After the match, Symbiosis stared at Eddie Dennis as he celebrated with them. Symbiosis then turned against Dennis and hit their powerslam/flying headbutt finish on him as well.

– Ilja Dragunov was interviewed backstage. He said he was here to watch Meiko Satomura defend her title and said he admired her. Dragunov said they both are making sure NXT UK is the most dominant brand in the world.

– A video looked at Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith winning the NXT UK Tag Team titles last week and the roster backstage applauding them. The video also had headlines from various wrestling websites (including this one) about the win. There also was a video of Smith coming home to his little daughter and showing her the championship he had won. This was really nice.

Eliza Alexander (w/ Xia Brookside) defeated Amale (6:52)

Alexander dominated early, but Amale hit a neckbreaker and a dropkick for a two count. Amale went for a kick into the corner, but Xia Brookside pulled Alexander to safety.

Alexander hit a running kick to Amale’s head as she was in the ropes, then choked her in the corner with her boot. Alexander hit a knee to the head and then locked in a chinlock. They traded forearms and Amale hit a few kicks and clotheslines, then followed with a bulldog for another two count.

Amale hit a running kick on Alexander in the corner, then kicked Brookside off the apron for good measure before rolling Alexander up for a near fall. Alexander then quickly hit a running kick to the head to pick up the victory.

– Wolfgang picked Damon Kemp up from the gym and took him drinking at a pub. Kemp got more and more drunk, then apparently puked into some plants five rounds in as Wolfgang picked up another round. They kept drinking and then drunkenly stumbled down the street. They will team together against Noam Dar & Sha Samuels next week.

– Lash Legend talked about defeating Emilia McKenzie. Myla Grace walked up and took offense.

NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura defeated Ivy Nile to retain her title (10:24)

Satomura took Nile down early, but Nile kept going for submissions once they were on the mat. They had a test of strength until Nile hit a Northern Lights suplex. Satomura went for an armbar, but Nile quickly escaped.

Satomura locked in a sitting abdominal stretch before Nile escaped and they traded more submissions on the mat. Nile hit an impressive fallaway slam, then did some push-ups on top of the champion.

Satomura locked in a double wristlock, but Nile defended well against it. Nile then hit some stiff kicks for a two count. Satomura came back with an enzuigiri off the ropes for a two count before they traded more strikes.

Nile hit a few jumping kicks in the corner and then a blockbuster-style headlock driver off the ropes, but Satomura kicked out at 2.9. Nile was on offense for a while longer before Satomura dropped her with a head kick, followed by a DDT and a handspring knee drop for a two count of her own.

Nile countered a Death Valley Driver attempt into a dragon sleeper, but Satomura managed to roll through backwards and locked Nile’s head for a pinning combination that got Satomura the victory.

After the match, Satomura helped Nile up, shook her hand, and hugged her.

Final Thoughts —

A fun show. The main event was good and Ivy Nile looked competent, while Meiko Satomura nicely complemented her style.

Mark Andrews vs. Kenny Williams also was good, but it was more a backdrop for the Kenny Williams/Tiger Turan saga continuing.

Primate and T-Bone turning on Eddie Dennis was interesting. I believe neither will be babyfaces going forward, but the former Symbiosis may try to challenge for the NXT UK Tag Team titles down the line. Amale vs. Eliza Alexander was fine but unremarkable.

Next Week —

  • Trent Seven addresses the NXT UK Universe
  • Wolfgang & Damon Kemp vs. Noam Dar & Sha Samuels

WWE announces two upcoming NXT UK title matches

WWE has announced two upcoming title matches that will be airing on NXT UK.

On next Thursday’s NXT UK episode, Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) will defend their NXT UK Tag Team titles against Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith and Die Familie (Teoman & Rohan Raja) in a triple threat match.

Meiko Satomura will then defend her NXT UK Women’s Championship against NXT 2.0’s Ivy Nile on the NXT UK episode that airs in two weeks.

Carter & Smith and Teoman & Raja each earned their way into the triple threat Tag Team title match with victories in recent weeks. Carter & Smith defeated Gallus (Joe & Mark Coffey), while Die Familie defeated Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz.

Moustache Mountain have twice retained their titles against Carter & Smith, but Seven cheated to win both times. There’s been dissension between Bate and Seven over Seven cheating to win their matches.

Nile is a member of Diamond Mine in NXT 2.0. She’s one of four NXT 2.0 wrestlers who took part in NXT UK’s April television tapings. Lash Legend, Damon Kemp, and Von Wagner have also appeared on this set of NXT UK episodes.

Nile defeated Nina Samuels on NXT UK two weeks ago. Last week, Nile respectfully approached Satomura and asked for a title shot.

Next week (Thursday, June 2) —

  • NXT UK Tag Team Champions Moustache Mountain defend against Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith and Die Familie in a triple threat match
  • Sam Gradwell vs. Von Wagner

In two weeks (Thursday, June 9) —

Four NXT 2.0 wrestlers coming to NXT UK

Several members of the NXT 2.0 roster have been advertised for future episodes of NXT UK.

On Thursday’s edition of the show, footage was shown of Damon Kemp (Bobby Steveson), Ivy Nile, Von Wagner, and Lash Legend arriving at the BT Sport Studio in London for Wednesday’s tapings.

“Starting next week, the Americans are coming,” Nigel McGuinness said on the broadcast. “NXT Superstars Lash Legend, Ivy Nile, Damon Kemp, and the imposing Von Wagner arrived here earlier this week. I, for one, cannot wait to see what matchups NXT UK General Manager, Johnny Saint, comes up with for this fresh batch of talent.”

Von Wagner was then shown tearing up an autograph Saxon Huxley signed for a young fan, perhaps setting up an angle between the two of them.

Kemp posted a photo of himself in front of the NXT UK logo to social media on Wednesday. Legend and Nile both posted similar photos on April 15.

NXT Level Up results: Jacket Time vs. Edris Enofe & Malik Blade

Joe Gacy (with Harland) defeated Quincy Elliott

This match was the debut of Elliott. Before the match began, Gacy cut a promo about giving Quincy Elliott his first opportunity. From the start, Gacy had trouble with Elliott’s size. Gacy targeted Elliott’s neck with headlocks and forearms throughout the match. Gacy came back with a springboard lariat and, with Harland’s help, was able to distract Elliott to pick up the win following the handspring clothesline.

Quincy Elliott looked good in his debut tonight, but he could use some more work regarding his selling.

Ivy Nile (with Malcolm Bivens) defeated Kiana James

Before the bell rang, James cut a very scripted promo about working in an office and making her dream come true on NXT Level up. Ivy Nile DOMINATED this match. She submitted James quickly with the dragon sleeper and remains undefeated.

Edris Enofe & Malik Blade defeated Jacket Time

Kushida and Ikeman controlled the match early on. Blade and Enofe were able to turn the flow of the match into their favor by isolating Ikeman Jiro, working on his left arm. Kushida with a hot tag was able to give Jacket Time the flow of the match again. However, Enofe and Blade soon came back and were able to score the win following a modified double powerbomb on Kushida. This was the third consecutive loss for Jacket Time.

After the match, Jiro and Kushida shook hands with Enofe and Blade.

Final Thoughts

The piped crowd noises were very distracting during this episode, especially when you see the crowd not reacting to what is happening in the ring.

The in-ring work on this show was fine, but nothing out of this world. Ivy Nile has the potential to be a star, if booked right.

WWE announces NXT Level Up lineup, Brooklyn Barlow to debut

A debut is set for this week’s edition of NXT Level Up.

Brooklyn Barlow (real name Brooke Vawter) will make her in-ring debut as she faces Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile on NXT Level Up this Friday night. This will be the fourth episode of Level Up since the show premiered last month and replaced 205 Live.

Barlow signed with WWE after participating in last August’s SummerSlam week tryouts in Las Vegas. She’s a bikini competitor and strongman competitor.

Nile is undefeated in singles matches since making her NXT 2.0 debut. She teamed with Tatum Paxley in the 2022 women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, losing to Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter in the first round.

Two other matches will also be airing on NXT Level Up this week. Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen will take on The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) in tag team action, while Trick Williams will face Guru Raaj.

NXT Level Up airs on Peacock/WWE Network at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Fridays.

WWE 205 Live results: Ivy Nile vs. Valentina Feroz

In a rare sight, 205 Live opened with a promo. Andre Chase started the show by announcing the man Von Wagner tried to kill, Bohdi Hayword, would be awarded a full ride through Chase University.

Bohdi Hayword defeated Guru Raaj

Hayword used his size advantage to lead the match for some time. Raaj had some success using selective striking, but Hayword continually overwhelmed Raaj. A chop block from Hayword led to a roll-up; Hayward pinned Raaj to close his debut match.

This entire opening segment felt like a blast from the past. If you told me this was on an episode of 2014 NXT TV, I’d believe you.

Ivy Nile defeated Valentina Feroz

I liked this match a lot. It was unique structurally and was compelling. Good stuff.

The match opened with throw based wrestling in which Feroz found great success. Eventually, Nile connected with a suplex and a jumping kick to turn the match on its head.

Nile worked head scissors for an extended period before attempting a suplex. Feroz reversed a sleeper attempt, turning it into an inside cradle. After Nile kicked out, Feroz tried for a bridging pin; Nile stood up, turning the pin attempt into a dragon sleeper. Feroz tapped out almost immediately.

The show concluded with a replay of a Bron Breaker hype package and promo.

Six debuts take place as part of WWE NXT 2.0 launch

Six debuts took place on NXT tonight as part of the launch of NXT 2.0.

The new look NXT made its debut tonight after being promoted for several weeks both on NXT and in WWE. Throughout the show several new names appeared on the program. They include:

  • Brooks Jensen, who teamed with Josh Briggs tonight in a losing effort against Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner). Jensen is Ben Buchanan, the son of former WWE star Bull Buchanan. He was announced as having signed with WWE last month.
  • Trick Williams was introduced as a friend of Carmelo Hayes. During a promo, Hayes said that Williams would have his back going forward. Williams told Hayes that he was being too humble. Hayes agreed with Williams, declaring himself “The Chosen One”. After a confrontation with Duke Hudson as they were leaving, William and Hayes jumped Hudson from behind, laying him out. Williams is Matrick Belton, who has a football background and trained at the CZW Wrestling Academy. He signed with WWE in February of this year.
  • Tony D’Angeloappeared in a vignette and talked about being from Chicago. He said he had an amateur wrestling background, but there was no money in that. Rather, there was money in NXT. D’Angelo is Joe Ariola, who has an amateur wrestling background and wrestled for the University of Buffalo, qualifying for the NCAA tournament in 2016. He was also signed in February of this year.
  • Ivy Nile was introduced as the newest member of the Diamond Mine. She appeared in the background during a vignette last week, but made her TV debut tonight. She is Emily Andzulis, who competed in the first season of NBC’s The Titan Games. She was signed in January of 2020.

Also debuting on tonight’s show is Bron Breakker, aka Bronson Rechsteiner, son of Rick Steiner. He defeated LA Knight after challenging him in the opening minutes of tonight’s NXT. Von Wagner is Cal Bloom, son of former WWE and AWA star Wayne Bloom. He replaced Kyle O’Reilly in the fatal four way match to determine a new NXT Champion after O’Reilly was jumped backstage by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.

Tag team match announced for WWE Raw

A tag team match has been announced for tonight’s post-SummerSlam edition of Raw.

Nikki A.S.H. & Rhea Ripley will team together against Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler on Raw tonight. Nikki and Ripley were both involved in the triple threat Raw Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam. Charlotte Flair submitted Nikki to win the title.

Nikki A.S.H. was Raw Women’s Champion going into SummerSlam. Ripley went to hit Riptide on her near the end of the match, but Nikki countered it into a DDT. Nikki then tried to hit a top rope crossbody on Charlotte, but Charlotte avoided it. Charlotte submitted Nikki with the Figure Eight to get the win.

Charlotte & Jax defeated Ripley & Nikki A.S.H. on Raw last week.

Tonight’s Raw is taking place at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. Here’s the updated lineup for the episode:

  • New Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle) will have a victory celebration
  • Nikki A.S.H. & Rhea Ripley vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler
  • Logan Paul appears on “Moist TV” with John Morrison and The Miz
