Enzo and Big Cass make appearance at ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard

Former WWE wrestlers Enzo Amore and Big Cass made an appearance at Saturday’s ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard show at MSG that might not be their last.

We are told the appearance was a work, but it’s unknown if the duo has signed a deal with Ring of Honor or New Japan Pro Wrestling but more likely the former.

Following the IWGP tag team title match with the Guerillas of Destiny, Villain Enterprises, EVIL and SANADA, and the Briscoes, Enzo and Cass jumped the rail and started throwing punches with the Briscoes and then Bully Ray. Security, however, didn’t get involved.

The action wasn’t shown on the broadcast nor on the video boards inside the arena. Fans booed the duo heavily.

Here are some videos from Twitter users Luke Allen and Noah Walraven:

Amore (Eric Arndt) was released from WWE in January 2018 following sexual assault allegations. While the Phoenix, AZ, police department closed the case due to insufficient evidence, he was not rehired. He did make a scene at Survivor Series in Los Angeles last November by trying to get to ringside, but was escorted out quickly by security.

Cass (Will Morrissey) was released by WWE in June 2018 after issues with management. He has been working as Big Cazz and Big C on indies and had a seizure in December while doing an appearance at a House of Hardcore show.

Juice Robinson answers Bully Ray’s G1 Supercard open challenge

Bully Ray has an opponent for G1 Supercard.

Bully Ray vs. Juice Robinson was set up for Madison Square Garden at ROH’s Road to G1 Supercard show in Baltimore, Maryland on Sunday night. Robinson announced that he’s answering Bully Ray’s open challenge for a New York City street fight at G1 Supercard.

Silas Young faced Mark Haskins at the Baltimore show, with Haskins getting the pin after referee Todd Sinclair stopped Young from using the ropes for leverage. Bully Ray came out, intimidated the referee, and told him to reverse the decision. Robinson, Tracy Williams, and Bandido made the save when Bully Ray and Young were going to put Haskins through a table.

Robinson then cut a promo, told Bully Ray to get back in the ring, and they went face-to-face. Robinson said he’ll be facing Bully Ray at Madison Square Garden.

Bully Ray also responded to ROH and Robinson on Twitter about the match: “1- Suzuki obviously doesn’t have the balls to accept my challenge. 2- I guarantee Juice DOES NOT make it to MSG. #RoadToG1Supercard”

Robinson is the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion.

G1 Supercard is taking place on Saturday (April 6) and will air live on HonorClub and New Japan World. Here’s the updated card:

Full lineup revealed for ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard at MSG

The lineup has been revealed for Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden.

NJPW announced the card for the show at their post-New Japan Cup press conference overnight. The most significant additions are Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi for Revolution Pro Wrestling’s Undisputed British Heavyweight title.

Ibushi eliminated Naito from the New Japan Cup, while Tanahashi eliminated Sabre. Kazuchika Okada defeated SANADA in the New Japan Cup finals and will challenge for Jay White’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship at G1 Supercard.

Two teams have been added to G1 Supercard’s Tag Team title vs. Tag Team title match. It will now be IWGP Tag Team Champions Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) vs. Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) vs. The Briscoes vs. EVIL & SANADA, with the winning team getting the IWGP and ROH Tag Team titles.

Will Ospreay and Jeff Cobb’s title vs. title match has also been confirmed. The winner will get the NEVER Openweight Championship and ROH Television title.

Women of Honor World Champion Mayu Iwatani will again defend her title against Kelly Klein. Iwatani won the championship from Klein in February and then retained in a rematch at ROH’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

The Kagetsu & Hazuki vs. Hana Kimura & Sumie Sakai tag match that Stardom and ROH teased for G1 Supercard has yet to be announced.

Jushin Thunder Liger, who revealed earlier this month that he’s retiring at the Tokyo Dome in January 2020, has been confirmed for the Honor Rumble match that’s taking place on the G1 Supercard pre-show. There will be 30 entrants in the Royal Rumble-style battle royal.

G1 Supercard is taking place on Saturday, April 6 and will air live on New Japan World and HonorClub. Here’s the lineup for the show:

  • IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White defending against Kazuchika Okada
  • ROH World Champion Jay Lethal defending against Marty Scurll and Matt Taven in a triple threat ladder match
  • IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito defending against Kota Ibushi
  • RevPro British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. defending against Hiroshi Tanahashi

  • Bully Ray New York City street fight open challenge
  • Women of Honor World Champion Mayu Iwatani defending against Kelly Klein

IWGP Heavyweight title match set for G1 Supercard

Kazuchika Okada is the winner of this year’s New Japan Cup.

The finals ended up being an evenly paced match, with both men putting everything out there. After multiple finisher attempts, including the TKO and the dead skull, SANADA still couldn’t find a way to victory once Kazuchika Okada hit the rainmaker. This is his second time winning the tournament, his first back in 2013.

After the match Okada called out Jay White, who he will face for the IWGP Heavyweight title. Gedo told him that he was going to hell, and this crowd was going to hell too. Jay White said he will enter Madison Square Garden the IWGP Heavyweight champion then leave the IWGP Heavyweight champion. Okada said he couldn’t understand what he was saying, because he is not at his level. Streamers then hit as he exited the ring, shaking Katsuyori Shibata’s hand to close out the show.

The next IWGP Heavyweight title match will take place on April 6 at the G1 Supercard event, which will be held inside Madison Square Garden.

ROH World title ladder match added to G1 Supercard

When Jay Lethal vs. Matt Taven at Ring of Honor’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view was over, the ROH World Championship match for G1 Supercard hadn’t been officially confirmed.

That changed at ROH’s television tapings in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night. It was announced that Lethal will defend his World title against Taven and Marty Scurll in a triple threat ladder match at G1 Supercard, which is taking place at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6.

Lethal and Taven went to a 60-minute draw in their title match at Friday’s Anniversary PPV. There was a spot during the match where Lethal went for an elbow drop onto Taven as he was laying on a ladder that was set up between the ring and the guardrail. Taven moved — and Lethal went crashing through the ladder.

Scurll came out after Lethal vs. Taven, picked up the ROH World title belt, and then left with it.

It was announced before the Anniversary PPV that Scurll would be challenging for the ROH World Championship at G1 Supercard. Scurll getting a future title shot was a stipulation of him winning last year’s Survival of the Fittest tournament.

G1 Supercard notes: Tag title match, Dalton Castle vs. Rush, Bully Ray

A Tag Team title change with G1 Supercard implications took place at Friday’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

Villain Enterprises (PCO & Brody King) defeated The Briscoes in a no disqualification match to win the ROH Tag Team titles. With that, PCO & King are currently set to face IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa in a title vs. title match with both sets of championships on the line at G1 Supercard.

In other developments for G1 Supercard, ROH Television Champion Jeff Cobb challenged NEVER Openweight Champion Will Ospreay to a title vs. title match, Dalton Castle challenged Rush, and Bully Ray said he’ll be having a New York City street fight.

Castle was on commentary for Rush vs. Bandido and then got into the ring after Rush won. Castle challenged Rush to a match at G1 Supercard, with the storyline being that Castle wants to get back on track by facing someone who’s undefeated in singles matches in ROH.

Bully Ray interrupted rapper Mega Ran’s performance at the 17th Anniversary PPV, talked about wrestling at Madison Square Garden, and issued an open challenge to anyone in the professional wrestling business to face him in an NYC street fight at G1 Supercard. Bully Ray said the person he wants to face knows that he’s talking about them.

At one point, the crowd chanted for Flip Gordon. Bully Ray mentioned that he didn’t say “I Quit” in the I Quit match he lost to Gordon at Final Battle.

G1 Supercard is taking place at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 6.

Jeff Cobb-Will Ospreay title vs. title match set up for G1 Supercard

A second title vs. title match has been set up for Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden.

After Jeff Cobb retained his TV title against Shane Taylor at Friday’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view, ROH announced that Cobb had challenged Ospreay to a title vs. title match at G1 Supercard. Cobb’s TV title and Ospreay’s NEVER Openweight Championship will both be on the line.

Ospreay pinned Cobb in a tag match at NJPW-ROH Honor Rising night two on February 23.

Cobb vs. Ospreay likely won’t be officially announced for G1 Supercard until Ospreay is eliminated from the New Japan Cup. Ospreay is facing Kazuchika Okada in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday (March 20).

The winner of the New Japan Cup will challenge for Jay White’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship at G1 Supercard.

IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa are also set to face ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes (who are defending their titles against PCO & Brody King at ROH’s Anniversary PPV) in a title vs. title match at G1 Supercard, which is taking place on Saturday, April 6.

Marty Scurll to challenge for ROH World title at G1 Supercard

An ROH World Championship challenger has been announced for G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden.

A promo from Marty Scurll aired at the end of the press conference/contract signing video for Jay Lethal and Matt Taven’s World title match at this Friday’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view. Scurll announced that he’s cashing in his title shot to challenge the ROH World Champion at G1 Supercard on Saturday, April 6.

Scurll is owed a World title shot as a stipulation of winning ROH’s Survival of the Fittest tournament in November 2018.

Lethal has been ROH World Champion since June. Taven has been claiming to be the “real” champion and carried around a fake World title belt, which Lethal destroyed in an angle during the build to their match at the Anniversary PPV.

Scurll vs. Kenny King is also set for the Anniversary show.

Here’s the updated lineup for G1 Supercard:

  • IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White defending against the winner of the New Japan Cup
  • Marty Scurll challenging for the ROH World Championship
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori defending against Dragon Lee and Bandido in a triple threat match
  • IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs. ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes with both sets of titles on the line (The Briscoes also have a title defense against PCO & Brody King at Friday’s Anniversary PPV)
  • Honor Rumble (pre-show)

Honor Rumble match set for G1 Supercard pre-show

ROH has revealed some of the details for the G1 Supercard pre-show.

The pre-show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, April 6, leading into the main card starting at 7:30 p.m. The pre-show will feature an Honor Rumble match, with wrestlers from ROH and NJPW taking part in it. Further information on entrants for the match has yet to be announced.

ROH noted that “more action for the pre-show will be announced soon.”

Honor Rumbles are Royal Rumble-style battle royals where entrants join the match at time intervals. This will be the eighth Honor Rumble that ROH has put on and the first since Frankie Kazarian won an Honor Rumble in August 2017.

G1 Supercard is taking place at Madison Square Garden and will air live on HonorClub and New Japan World.

Jay White defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the New Japan Cup, IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs. ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes with both sets of titles on the line, and Taiji Ishimori defending his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Dragon Lee and Bandido in a triple threat match have been announced for the G1 Supercard main card.

The Briscoes are also set to defend their Tag Team titles against PCO & Brody King at next Friday’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

Three-way Junior Heavyweight title match official for G1 Supercard

The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in a three-way match at ROH & NJPW’s G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden.

ROH announced today that Taiji Ishimori will defend his Junior Heavyweight title against Dragon Lee and Bandido at G1 Supercard. NJPW (Ishimori), CMLL (Lee), and ROH (Bandido) will all be represented in the match.

Ishimori retained the Junior Heavyweight title by defeating Jushin Thunder Liger at NJPW’s 47th Anniversary show. Ishimori then cut a promo where he said he wants to defend his title at Madison Square Garden. He challenged anyone from ROH, but Dragon Lee came out instead.

ROH posted a video today where Bandido wanted to be added to the Junior Heavyweight title match.

G1 Supercard is taking place on Saturday, April 6. IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White will defend his title against the winner of the New Japan Cup. There will also be a Tag Team title vs. Tag Team title match. IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa will face ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes with both sets of titles on the line.

Before G1 Supercard, The Briscoes will defend their titles against PCO & Brody King at ROH’s 17th Anniversary pay-per-view this month.

NJPW notes: Jr. title match set for MSG, G1 schedule announced

NJPW is planning out its next few months as a Jr. title match has been set for the MSG show while releasing their schedule for this summer’s G1 Climax 29 tournament.

After retaining the IWGP Jr. title at last night’s anniversary show, Taiji Ishimori called out anyone from ROH for a match at the G1 Supercard. Dragon Lee, who appeared earlier in the show as part of a undercard tag match, came out and accepted the challenge, saying that while he is not part of New Japan or Ring of Honor, he will represent CMLL at Madison Square Garden. The match hasn’t been made official by New Japan, but that will likely change in the next few days.

The anniversary show also had a segment showing dates for this summer’s G1 Climax. The tour will start on July 6 in Dallas, Texas with the last three nights taking place at Budokan Hall. Here is the complete list:

Tag title vs. tag title match confirmed for ROH-NJPW G1 Supercard

A match for both the ROH and IWGP tag team championships has been set.

At this morning’s Honor Rising event, the Guerrillas of Destiny defeated EVIL and SANADA for the IWGP tag team titles. The Briscoes also won their match, retaining the ROH tag team titles against Juice Robinson and David Finlay in the main event.

After the main event concluded, Jay Briscoe got a mic and challenged GoD to a title for title match on April 6 at the G1 Supershow. GoD then came out, with Tanga Loa accepting the challenge on behalf of his team. The four then had a staredown, lifting both sets of titles in the air.

A few days later, New Japan officially confirmed that both champions will face one another. The ROH tag team championships will be defended on the ROH 17th Anniversary show, with the Briscoes defending against Brody King and PCO. The winners of that match will likely face GoD.

This would be the first match officially set for the G1 Supercard, which will take place at Madison Square Garden. It was announced earlier this week that the winner of next month’s New Japan Cup tournament will face IWGP Heavyweight champion Jay White for the title.

ROH announces broadcast details for G1 Supercard

Ring of Honor has officially announced broadcasting details for the upcoming G1 Supercard event on April 6.

The company confirmed on their website that both New Japan World and HonorClub will stream the show live. For HonorClub, it will be available for all users, not just those who include pay-per-view events in their package.

They also announced that the show will be a pay-per-view event on satellite and cable for $39.99. Additionally, the pay-per-view will be available on FITE TV for the same price.

No matches have been announced for the card. However, the winner of next month’s New Japan Cup tournament will challenge Jay White for the IWGP Heavyweight title on the show.

Tickets have been sold out for the event since August. The show, which will be held at Madison Square Garden, is the first pro wrestling event to be held at the venue by a promotion not owned by the McMahon family since November 1960.
