Alex Zayne wins Honor Rumble at ROH Death Before Dishonor

Alex Zayne returned to Ring of Honor tonight, winning the Honor Rumble.

Zayne was the final enrant of the match at number 16. He and PJ Black were the final two men in the ring. Black attempted a crossbody, but Zayne ducked and sent Black over the top rope to eliminate him. As a result of winning the Honor Rumble, Zayne has earned a shot at the ROH World Championship.

Tonight’s Death Before Dishonor event was among the first Zayne has competed in since being released by WWE back in August. He had signed with WWE in December of 2020 and had been wrestling mostly on 205 Live under the name Ari Sterling. Zayne has already been announced for New Japan Strong’s October tour in Philadelphia.

Death Before Dishonor takes place tonight at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bandido will defend the ROH World title in a fatal four-way against Brody King, Demonic Flamita, and EC3.

Honor Rumble set for ROH Death Before Dishonor Hour One

The Honor Rumble is returning at ROH Death Before Dishonor.

ROH has announced that an Honor Rumble match will take place on Death Before Dishonor Hour One. The Hour One broadcast will air for free on HonorClub, ROH’s YouTube channel, and ROH’s Facebook page starting at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, September 12. The main card will then begin on HonorClub and pay-per-view at 8 p.m. Eastern.

The Honor Rumble is a battle royal with Royal Rumble-style rules. The winner will receive a future shot at the ROH World Championship.

Danhausen is the first entrant announced for the Honor Rumble. ROH also teased that there may be a surprise entrant or two.

The last Honor Rumble prior to this took place on the pre-show for G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden in April 2019. It was won by Kenny King.

Death Before Dishonor is taking place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Here’s the updated card for the show:

Kenny King, four more confirmed for G1 Supercard Honor Rumble

Six of the 30 entrants for G1 Supercard’s Honor Rumble match have now been announced.

In this week’s “Eck’s Files” article on ROH’s website, it was announced that Kenny King, PJ Black, The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brian Milonas), and Cheeseburger will be in the Honor Rumble. The match will feature wrestlers from ROH and NJPW, with Jushin Thunder Liger also confirmed as an entrant.

Liger announced earlier this month that he’ll be retiring at the Tokyo Dome in January 2020.

The Honor Rumble is a Royal Rumble-style battle royal that will air on the G1 Supercard pre-show, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time next Saturday (April 6). The show is taking place at Madison Square Garden and will air live on HonorClub and New Japan World.

Honor Rumble match set for G1 Supercard pre-show

ROH has revealed some of the details for the G1 Supercard pre-show.

The pre-show will begin at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, April 6, leading into the main card starting at 7:30 p.m. The pre-show will feature an Honor Rumble match, with wrestlers from ROH and NJPW taking part in it. Further information on entrants for the match has yet to be announced.

ROH noted that “more action for the pre-show will be announced soon.”

Honor Rumbles are Royal Rumble-style battle royals where entrants join the match at time intervals. This will be the eighth Honor Rumble that ROH has put on and the first since Frankie Kazarian won an Honor Rumble in August 2017.

G1 Supercard is taking place at Madison Square Garden and will air live on HonorClub and New Japan World.

Jay White defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against the winner of the New Japan Cup, IWGP Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs. ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes with both sets of titles on the line, and Taiji Ishimori defending his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Dragon Lee and Bandido in a triple threat match have been announced for the G1 Supercard main card.

The Briscoes are also set to defend their Tag Team titles against PCO & Brody King at next Friday’s ROH 17th Anniversary pay-per-view.

Ring of Honor taped its next round of television episodes in Atlanta last night. Here are the results:

– Bully Ray came out for a promo, saying that he will team with the Briscoes to face the Kingdom at Death Before Dishonor, then will look to regain the Six Man titles.

– Will Ferrara defeated Cheeseburger

– Silas Young defeated Cauliflower Chase Brown

Silas continued the assault after the match. Lethal ran in for the save and were pulled apart. Silas announced that he will face Lethal in a last “real” man standing match at Death Before Dishonor.

– Kelly Klein defeated Brandi Rhodes in a Women of Honor match

– BJ Whitmer joined Ian Riccaboni for the taping of the second episode.

– Kenny King defeated Hangman Page

– Marty Scurll defeated Rocky Romero

– Cody Rhodes came out and said that he has a replacement for the ROH World title. Instead, he has a championship ring — the Ring of Honor. He insisted that all of his opponents will have to kiss the ring rather than shake hands with him before his matches.

– Josh Woods defeated QT Marshall

– Frankie Kazarian won the Honor Rumble

The winner of this would get a title match. Participants included Jay White, Sho Tanaka, Jonathan Gresham, Punishment Martinez, Rhett Titus, Kazarian, Will Ferrara, Yohei Komatsu, Alex Shelley, Silas Young, Shane Taylor, Flip Gordon, Jay Lethal, Chris Sabin, Bully Ray, Ray Rowe and Mark Briscoe. Glacier, who came in last, was the biggest surprise entrant in it. Jay Lethal had the match won, but Christopher Daniels distracted the referee and he missed Kazarian being thrown out. Kazarian then got back in the ring and eliminated Lethal.

Vinny Marseglia and the returning TK O’Ryan were the Kingdom team in this match.

– Karen Q defeated Sumie Sakai in a Women of Honor match

Q called out Deonna Purrazzo, who was on guest commentary, after the match leading to a brawl. 

– War Machine defeated Coast 2 Coast and The Tempura Boyz in a tornado tag match

– Flip Gordon defeated Corey Hollis

– ROH World Champion Cody defeated Frankie Kazarian to retain his title

Kazarian got the title match from winning the Honor Rumble earlier in the night.
