Tag team grudge match official for AEW All Out

The first match is official for next month’s AEW All Out as Adam Copeland & Christian Cage will team up against FTR for the first time ever.

The match was made official during the opening segment of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite when FTR were demanding that referee Paul Turner reverse his decision from this past Sunday’s Forbidden Door when Brodido won the AEW World Tag Team titles in a three-way that saw FTR take the pin.

As they and Stokely Hathaway were getting physical with Turner, Copeland came out to make the save, followed by Cage through the crowd who snuck up behind FTR in the ring. The four men brawled and after they were separated, Copeland revealed that the two teams would meet in Toronto at the pay-per-view (seen below).

Canadian natives Copeland and Cage reunited at Forbidden Door for the first time since 2011, picking up a win over Killswitch and Kip Sabian. FTR initially put Copeland out of action earlier this year and his surprise return at July’s All In set his eventual reunion with Cage into motion.

FTR refute Jake Hager’s claim that they refused to show up to past AEW event

FTR are refuting a claim made by Jake Hager during a recent podcast appearance.

On a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet that debuted today, Hager discussed his 2024 departure from AEW and feeling jaded with pro wrestling due to the experience. He also took shots at Tony Khan, including recalling a meeting where Khan supposedly spoke disrespectfully to talent.

Hager said the meeting happened after “all of the [CM] Punk sh*t” went down in 2022 and was supposed to be wrestlers-only, but Khan stormed into the room and spoke. Hager claimed that Khan told the talent, “Listen, I’ll put you in a six-man, six minutes before the show and you’re going to do it.”

A reason for the alleged outburst, Hager said, was that someone had refused to come to TV that day because they didn’t like the creative. Hager said he thought it was FTR who refused to come to the show.

“Cash and I were at the all-talent only meeting that was called by Bryan, Jericho, and Mox. Tony never interrupted,” Dax Harwood of FTR tweeted in response to Hager’s comments. “Cash and I have NEVER refused to show up to work and, I’d to dare say, if you look at our schedules since Collision started, we’re the most consistent talent that make BOTH shows EVERY WEEK. Im not really sure where all this is coming from, but it’s mostly not true.”

Cash Wheeler also refuted what Hager said about FTR. On social media, he shared a DM exchange with Hager from today:

After joining the promotion in 2019, Hager’s time with AEW ended in a mutual departure last year when his contract expired. Hager said during the Insight episode that he felt disrespected when AEW only offered him an 18-month contract following his initial deal. He signed that extension in 2022 but knew the writing was on the wall and felt like Khan didn’t want him in AEW.

FTR competed at this Sunday’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view, where they were part of a three-way match for the AEW Tag Team titles. Brody King & Bandido won the match to dethrone Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin.

Tag Team title match participants set for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

This Sunday’s AEW World Tag Team title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is now officially a three-way following the events of Wednesday’s Dynamite.

In the finals of the eight-team Tag Team title eliminator tournament, FTR and Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) went to a 30-minute time limit draw. It was announced nearly immediately afterward that both team will face reigning champions The Hurt Syndicate on Sunday.

Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley and MVP came out afterward to stare down both teams.

FTR will be looking for their third run with the titles and their first since October 2023 while Brodido is in search of their first. With a win, Benjamin and Lashley will earn a seventh successful title defense and extend a 200+ day run.

Finals set for AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament

The finals are now confirmed in the AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament following the events of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

The new team of Brodido (ROH World Champion Bandido & Brody King) successfully defeated the Young Bucks in a semifinal and will now take on FTR in the finals. Bandido scored the clean pin on Matt Jackson after a running assisted monkey flip spin from King (seen below).

The date of the match has yet to be announced as of this writing.

The winning team will advance to this month’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London, England, where they will challenge reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin).

Neither King or Bandido have held the Tag Team titles to this point while FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) are looking for their third AEW Tag Team title run and first since October 2023.

FTR advanced with wins over JetSpeed and the Bang Bang Gang while Brodido defeated the Gates of Agony before beating the Bucks.

All four men have shared the ring with each other before, but not in a straight tag team match.

Two teams advance in AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament

The end of the ongoing AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament is now in sight following Thursday’s AEW Collision.

The first finalist is now official as FTR defeated The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson) in a semifinal bout. The former AEW Tag Team Champions beat JetSpeed (Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) in their quarterfinal match while Gunn & Robinson upended Bryan Keith & Big Bill.

FTR now awaits the winner of The Young Bucks vs. Brodido in the finals. Brody King & ROH World Champion Bandido defeated The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) on Thursday to advance to the semifinals against the Jackson brothers.

The winner of the tournament will challenge reigning champions The Hurt Syndicate (Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley) at August’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London, England.

FTR is looking for their third run with the gold and first since October 2023 while the Bucks want their fourth run and first since October 2024. King and Bandido have never held the titles.

AEW Collision live results: Tag Team title eliminator matches

A pair of AEW Tag Team title eliminator matches headline tonight’s live edition of AEW Collision from Chicago as their residency in the city wraps up.

In a semifinal match, former champions FTR will take on the Bang Bang Gang of Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson. The other is a quarterfinal as Brodido (Brody King & Bandido) face the Gates of Agony with the winners moving on to face the Young Bucks in a future semifinal.

Reigning TNT Champion Dustin Rhodes will take on Kyle Fletcher in a street fight coming out of last week’s challenge.

Former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale will get her wish as her challenge of Thekla has been accepted. Another former TBS Champion and Nightingale ally/enemy Kris Statlander will also be in action against an opponent to be named.

Here we are all colliding and stuff off the back of Godzilla, no less! AEW Collision is here and starting now!

And it kicked off in style with the Death Riders wrecking shop! Jon Moxley grabbed a mic and stomped into the ring while Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir backed him up. Moxley lamented that Darby Allin survived his trip to Mt Everest and is now in Mox’s business.

Mox called him out and like so many Stings before him, Allin appeared on the balcony of the arena. Allin slinked off, apparently not heading to the ring and the Death Riders left through the crowd to go find him.

A recap of last night’s Dynamite played to bring everyone up to speed.

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Quarter Final Match: Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Brodido (Bandido & Brody King)

For those not in the know, ROH Champion Bandido is low-key the best champion in wrestling right now. His ROH Title defenses have been instant classics. Gates of Agony are downright terrifying, so no matter who wins the chance to face the Young Bucks in the semi-finals, that match will be a good one.

Bandido kicked things off against Kaun with the latter having a significant size advantage. Bandido’s agility and resiliency off set that though and they flew around the ring. Kaun landed a big lariat, but Bandido was right back up with an arm drag. Then Liona tagged in.

Bandido was more than happy to face Liona, but the crowd wanted King. Liona threw Bandido into the corner and they got their wish. The absolutely massive King stepped in the ring and the meat began a-slappin’.

King and Liona traded chops until King decided to throw a lariat and knock Liona out. Bandido and Kaun tagged back in, but Bandido sent him out. King and Bandido double teamed Liona, with King using Bandido as a weapon.

Liona dragged King out of the ring and back body dropped him on the entrance ramp. Bandido was body dropped by Kaun on the top rope and then tossed out to join his partner. Everyone went back to their corners after that and the match settled for a moment into Kaun and Bandido exchanging holds.

Liona tagged in and he and Kaun double teamed an isolated Bandido in their corner. Kaun made a run across the ring ro take out King before GoA delivered a double backstabber to Bandido. A miscommunication led to Liona accidentally hitting Kaun with Bandido. Bandido tagged in King and he splashed Kaun and Liona in the corner.

Kaun left, but King was able to hit a cannonball in the corner on Liona. He tagged in Bandido and the did a tandem dive through the ropes onto the Gates of Agony on the outside where all four men brawled. Bandido sent Kaun into the first row and King tossed Liona back into the ring.

Bandido went up top and hit a frog splash, but Kaun returned a broke up the pin. Kaun sent King out, twice, and then set Bandido up with Liona’s help for top rope powerbomb. It only resulted in a two count though. Liona took out King on the outside, but he was back to break up a pin attempt.

King picked up Liona (impressive in it’s own right) and then hit a death valley drover on the ring apron (the agony-est part of the ring!). Then he grabbed Kaun and hit a superplex off the top rope! Bandido leapt on him and got the pin, sending Brodido to the semis!

Match Result: Brodido defeated Gates of Agony

A terrific match as expected. Bandido continues to impress, King is a killer and the Gates looked good in this loss, I don’t think it hurts them at all. I mean, it hurt them. But not in terms of character.

-The Don Callis Family joined Lexy Nair backstage. Callis said that his Family is going to be getting all the titles, power and money AEW has to offer. Shane Taylor appeared, looking for the money STP and the Infantry earned on Dynamite last night. Lance Archer stepped in and Callis said that if STP takes out Sky Flight, then they could talk about the money. Taylor was not happy.

-Back from commercial, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly joined Lexy Nair. Nair asked of Strong was now in the Conglomeration. O’Reilly made the sell, and Ishii, Hologram and Willow Nightingale arrived. Nightingale tee’d up her match and off she went!

-Before the match could start though, we went backstage where the Death Riders were still looking for Darby Allin. Suddenly, Allin appeared out of a dark corner and appeared to chloroform Moxley! The scene switched back to the ring…

Kris Statlander vs Lina Cross

This match happened so fast, I barely had time to keep up. Stalander pushed Cross around off the top, sending her to the mat with a big shoulder. She put Cross up in a stalling suplex and dropped her with precise fashion. Cross fought back with a pump kick and a german suplex, but Statlander overpowered her. Statlander locked in a new submission hold, and Cross tapped out.

Match Result: Kris Statlander defeated Lina Cross

As that match ended, Willow Nightingale’s music played and the two crossed paths without acknowledging each other on the ramp.

Willow Nightingale vs. Thekla (w/Sky Blue and Julia Hart)

Thekla had a serious power disadvantage, with Nightingale throwing her into the corner off the top. Hart and Blue got up in the ring apron to cause a slow-moving distraction and Thekla got a shot in. Nightingale kept control though as the two reset and stared each other down.

Thekla got a shot in on Nightingale’s throat and sent her reeling. Thekla went up top, but Nightingale dodged it and chopped her in the center of the ring. Nightingale hoisted her up and dropped her in the center of the ring for a cross body, followed but a powerful pounce.

Here, they announced that Sky Flight would face Shane Taylor Promotions later in the show.

Thekla sent Nightingale into the steel steps on the outside and then dragged her back into the ring. She peppered Nightingale with kicks and put on a strong chinlock, wrenching Nightingale’s back. Nightingale wouldn’t give up, so Thekla began complaining to the ref. That gave Nightingale an opening and the two traded chops.

Thekla got Nightingale into the corner and put on a headscissor lock over the top rope. Nightingale responded with a big lariat and then two more for good measure. Nightingale hit a shotgun dropkick from the second rope, but only got a two-count.

Thekla resorted to slapping Nightingale in the face, sending her to the ropes. Thekla set her up for a knee shot, but Nightingale played possum and lured her in for a death valley driver. Dragging Thekla to the top rope, Nightingale found herself in trouble as Thekla set her up for a superplex.

Blue and Hart stalked Nightingale on the outside while Thekla dove from the top rope. She threw Nightingale back in and Nightingale went back to the well for a springboard lariat, followed by a cannonball in the corner.

Nightingale went for a powerbomb but Hart and Blue got up on the ring to cause the distraction. That let Thekla get a stomp in on Nightingale’s head and that was in. 1,2,3 Thekla got the win.

Match Result: Thekla defeated Willow Nightingale

After the match, Blue and Hart joined in on a beatdown of Nightingale. However, Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford appeared to make it a 5-on-1 affair. Queen Aminata’s music hit and she came to the ring with Tay Melo and a whole bunch of chairs and pieces of wood. They chased the heels off as The Conglomeration tended to Nightingale.

This was a good match, especially after the weird Statlander squash. The melee at the end was a little too chaotic for me and I lost track of what was going on. That said, there’s a lot of stories running through that group of women, so I’m interested to see where all of it goes.

-Backstage, Billy Gunn joined Lexy Nair. Anthony Bowens arrived and yelled at him for a bit. Gunn said that he didn’t even know who Bowens was any more and left, Bowens calling “coward!” after him.

-A video was shown of Swerve Strickland outside the arena. He called out the Young Bucks and Okada and he promised to be around to take care of them. He challenged Okada for the Unified Championship at Forbidden Door.

-Don Callis and Okada responded right away, saying that Okada has the edge becuase he has Callis himself to advise him. They accepted the challenge and Okada said “let’s just fight, bitch.”

AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament Semi Final Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/Stokely) vs. Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn & Juice Robinson)(w/ Cardboard Cut out Jay White and Colton Gunn)

So, that’s the longest match heading I think I’ve ever typed. Also, Danny Garcia was on commentary.

The winners of this match move on to the finals for the right to face the Hurt Syndicate LLC, and Robinson and Harwood showed that they both wanted it bad off the top. The battled back and forth until Gunn was tagged in. Harwood sent him to the mat with an arm drag.

Gunn tagged Robinson back in and Harwood drove him into the corner for some chops. Robinson foight back with some chops of his own, sending Harwood face first into the turnbuckle while Bryan Kieth and Big Bill watched backstage at that angle that all wrestlers seem to watch tv.

Wheeler tagged in to face off against Gunn and the two traded chops before Gunn tagged Robinson back in. Things broke down and Gunn and Robinson took out both members of FTR with stereo back body drops and lariats to the outside.

Stokely limped over and gave FTR some words of encouragement while Gunn and Robinson waited in the ring. The match somewhat reset and Harwood and Gunn locked up in the center of the ring. Harwood laid in some big right hands but Gunn fought back until Wheeler kicked him in the back through the ropes.

FTR double teamed Gunn, stomping him by the ropes. Wheeler tagged in a delivered a bunch of suplexes, followed by a sleeper. Gunn fought back, but Harwood tagged in with an abdominal stretch with an assist from Wheeler. The ref caught on though and broke it up. Gunn went for a hot tag but Harwood cut him off.

Gunn finally got the tag, but the ref didn’t see it and sent him back for a double team from FTR. Harwood sent Gunn to the outside where he spiked the camera and dodged as wheeler flew at him from the ring. Wheeler landed on the barricade and Harwood held Gunn until he made the hot tag to Robinson.

Robinson jumped in and cleared the ring. Harwood slipped out of the ring and Robinson followed, sending him back in. Stokely tried to interfere with his crutch, but Robinson kicked it away and set Harwood up on the top rope. Harwood bit Robinson on the head and sent him to Wheeler. Robinson sent Wheeler to the outside.

Gunn hit a suplex from the top rope and Robinson tried a pin. Wheeler jumped from the top rope to break up the pin, but Robinson rolled out of the way and Wheeler hit Harwood instead. Robinson landed a blade runner, but it only resulted in a two-count.

Gunn and Harwood faced off, but neither could get the advantage. Robinson arrived to break up a shatter machine and Gunn hit the fame-ass-er, but again just a two count as Wheeler broke it up. Robinson went after Stokely, but Wheeler sent him into the stairs.

Gunn fought off both Wheeler and Harwood, but the ref was distracted. Harwood and Wheeler double teamed him and Harwood got a rollup to send FTR to the tournament Finals.

Match Result: FTR defeated Bang Bang Gang

There’s a reason FTR matches are some of my favourite of all time. It was super fast, back and forth and the outcome was never obvious for either team. I liked the quick tags, classic heel cheating and of course, the cutouts. The finals of this tournament are going to be hot!

-Backstage, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena cut a promo. She said that it’s going to be really easy to cash in and win the AEW Women’s Championship. Athena said that she is going to use her contract to defeat Toni Storm in London at Forbidden Door.

-In the ring, Max Caster said that he was here to cheer up “Chiraq” by allowing the crowd to chant for him. Which they did. Caster cut them off and said that they couldn’t hang with him, just like Anthony Bowens. He called Bowens a bland, crybaby bitch and issued his Open Challenge. Five minutes went up on the clock and the challenge was answered by…

Rush!

Max Caster vs Rush

So, if you haven’t seen Rush lately he’s very large and has an even larger coat. The bell rang and the challenge was on. Caster immediately dove out of the ring as Rush ran at him. When he tried to get back in, Rush, rushed him again. This went on for a while as the clock ticked down.

Caster jogged around the ring, playing to the crowd while Rush impatiently waited in the ring. Caster got too involved in his showboating though and Rush slipped out a crushed him. As the clock ticked to three minutes, Rush sent Caster into the barricades again and again.

Finally, Rush tossed Caster back into the ring, but Caster leapt to the top rope and hit a cross body from the ring post onto Rush. Two minutes remained as Caster put Rush back into the ring. Caster went for a splash, but Rush dodged it and picked up where he left off pumelling Caster.

Only a minute remained as Rush started some showboating of his own. Caster tried to rush him, but Rush hit a powerslam, unconcerned with the clock as he beat Caster in the corner. With 10 seconds left, Rush lined Caster up, but then the time expired and the bell rang, ending the match,

Rush did not like that and dropkicked Caster in the corner. He demanded that the Ref count the pin, but the ref said the match was over. So the rest of LFI came down to the ring and beat up Caster. Security tried to intervene but they didn’t make much headway until JetSpeed arrived! Everyone battled up the ramp, leaving Caster laying in the ring.

Match Result: Rush defeated Max Caster? I think?

I was really enjoying this spectacle of a match until the weird ending. I love Open Challenges and Caster’s are great, with a pretty good gimmick to them. But it all just seemed kinda pointless, especially once JetSpeed got involved.

Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor and The Infantry – Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo) Vs Sky Flight (Top Flight – Darius and Daunte Martin – and Scorpio Sky)

This match was set up earlier in the night so that Shane Taylor Promotions could earn the money that they earned on Dynamite last night. The infantry got involved pretty much immediately as Bravo, Dean and Bravo took turns hitting moves on Darius on the ring apron.

STP had complete control of the match in the opening, isolating Daunte and triple teaming him in the corner. STP used every violent trick in the book including a killer one-handed chokeslam from Taylor.

Back from break, Daunte tagged in with Dean and fortunes started to turn for Sky Flight. Daunte got a hot tag to Sky who cleared the ring. Daunte leapt over the top rope taking out Taylor and Bravo. Sky, in the middle of the ring managed to hit his finisher and get the pin.

Match Result: Sky Flight defeated Shane Taylor Promotions

-Backsage the camera showed Darby Allin dragging Jon Moxley to the top of a fire escape. Just as Allin was about to shove Mox off the fire escape and presumably multiple stories down, AEW Security showed up (?) and dragged Allin away.

That was very, very strange. Did Allin just commit attempted murder? Why were there security guys on the fire escape? Where were Yuta and Shafir? I have more questions, but there are only 12 minutes left in the show.

AEW TNT Title Chicago Street Fight: Dustin Rhodes (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher

To shake off the last 20 minutes or so, it’s time for the main event! Dustin Rhodes has found the fountain of youth and has been doing his best work in what should be the twilight of his career. Fletcher is absolutely killer and not only looks like a 2025 Shawn Micheals, he works like him too.

Rhodes laid the hammer down right away, while Don Callis on commentary lamented the use of a closed fist… in a street fight. The match spilled out of the ring and Fletcher found a kendo stick. Rhodes took it away from him and laid in some hard smacks.

Fletcher reversed the favor though, pulling the steel steps away from the ring and hitting a DDT on top of them, sending Rhodes to the ground. Fletcher then went under the ring for a table and leaned it up against the barricade. He laid Rhodes out on it and dove at him through the ring ropes. Rhodes dodged it though and Fletcher flew through the table.

Rhodes grabbed a second table and set it up at ringside. He also pulled a bullrope from under the ring, introducing it to Fletcher’s face. Repeatedly. Rhodes, bleeding from the forehead pulled Fletcher, also bleeding from the forehead, to the ring apron and tried to bulldog Fletcher onto the table. Fletcher grabbed a rope though, so Rhodes went through the table solo.

Back from commercial, Fletcher was whipping Rhodes with his own cowbell, focusing on the knee. Fletcher charged Rhodes who flipped him over with a Code Red. Rhodes began pounding on Fletcher, executing a CrossRhodes, but only getting a two count.

Rhodes went under the ring and grabbed a couple of chairs. Fletcher picked one up and they played lightsabers until Rhodes hit Fletcher in the back. A lot. Rhodes took a little too long to lay in the killing blow and Fletcher kicked the chair back into his face. Fletcher set up two chairs and hit a jumping pile driver on the seats. Rhodes kicked out at two.

Fletcher grabbed a table and brought it into the ring as the show went into overtime. Fletcher pulled Rhodes to the top turnbuckle, looking for a superplex. Rhodes fought back though, sending Fletcher through his own table with a massive Texas Destroyer! Somehow, Fletcher kicked out at two though.

Rhodes went under the ring and pulled out a set of work gloves…. covered in tacks! He went for the Iron Claw, but Fletcher blocked it. Rhodes pushed though though and hit the claw with the tack gloves! What a weird thing to write!

Fletcher got free and brought a whole bag full of tacks unto the ring. He spread them out and went for a suplex. Rhodes reversed it. Then Fletcher reversed it. This went on for a while until Rhodes hit a powerslam right on the tacks!

Fletcher, regretting his choice of outfit, got set up by Rhodes in the corner. Rhodes poured the remainder of the tacks into Fletcher’s trunks and shattered his dreams!

Rhodes pulled Fletcher up, but Callis had slipped Fletcher a screwdriver which he drove into Rhodes’ head. Callis then held Rhodes against the rope while Fletcher stabbed him in the leg over and over. The screwdriver hung out of Rhodes’ leg until a medical staff member pulled it out.

Fletcher hit a brainbuster on Rhodes in the middle of the tacks and got the pin to win the match and the TNT Championship.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher defeated Dustin Rhodes

After the match, Callis and Fletcher beat on Rhodes with a chair until officials sent them packing.

Wow. That was downright gruesome. Hell of a match and I’m sad to see Rhodes’ title reign end so quickly, but they both earned that match. I’ll say this about AEW; they pack a LOT into two-and-a-bit hours. Two great tag matches, an awesome main event and overall, a pretty good show with only a few confusing moments. But it’s wrestling, there’s always a few confusing moments. Either way, I had fun so mission accomplished, Collision!

AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament kicks off, first team advances

A new AEW Tag Team title eliminator tournament will determine who challenges reigning champions The Hurt Syndicate (seen above) at next month’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Announced at the onset of Dynamite, eight teams will compete in the tournament but only two actual teams were revealed: FTR and JetSpeed who squared off on tonight’s show. As of this writing, none of the dates for the other matches have been revealed, but the commentary team said it will continue on Saturday’s Collision.

FTR won the competitive match to advance as Dax Harwood rolled up Kevin Knight with the assistance of Stokely Hathaway’s crutch. Harwood and Cash Wheeler are looking for their first Tag Team title shot since August 2024.

Afterward, Adam Copeland came out and said while he can’t touch FTR, he found two guys who could. Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin (with MVP) then came out and brawled with FTR before officials eventually pulled them off.

Lashley and Benjamin have held the titles since January and have six successful defenses. The last came in a three-way at this month’s All In.

The title match is the second bout announced for the London-based pay-per-view at the O2 Arena on Sunday, August 24th.

Tony Khan felt double-crossed by how FTR’s AAA Tag Team title loss went down

AEW head Tony Khan has opened up about the night Dragon Lee & Dralistico defeated FTR for the AAA Tag Team titles, feeling he was double-crossed with how the situation went down.

Khan spoke with Case Lowe of Q101 and the two were talking about WWE’s impending acquisition of AAA which Khan said was “not unexpected to me” and something he had expected ever since WWE announced they had signed Lee in December 2022.

Khan then talked about the aforementioned title change that happened that same night as the Lee signing, saying he had not agreed to the way it went down.

“We had agreed FTR would go down and wrestle Rush and Dralistico. Then, something happened during the day when Dragon Lee was in there,” he said, noting he was in Denver, Colorado, as they were doing Dynamite that night.

Khan said he had talked to FTR and “thought there was some strange stuff going on here,” also noting in the interview that FTR had said WWE cameras were in Mexico. After Dynamite ended, the match happened with Lee getting the pin and the signing was announced afterward.

“FTR’s name is still on the (title belt) plate (at the time), so it was really a double-cross and one of those things that would never happen now,” he said.

It was reported by our Dave Meltzer that Lee’s signing by WWE was known about by Khan for several weeks before it was announced. Lee had wrestled once in AEW and once in ROH, both in the summer of 2022. Dralistico, ironically, is currently in AEW.

Khan has been working with CMLL since 2023 and said he has a great relationship with CMLL head Salvador Lutteroth Lomeli, saying the two “are brothers” and “would never betray each other like that.”

AEW had been working with AAA starting in 2019, but the partnership disintegrated over time.

FTR vs. The Outrunners set for AEW All In Zero Hour

FTR and The Outrunners will rematch at AEW All In Zero Hour.

In a return bout from last Saturday’s Collision episode, FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler will face Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum of The Outrunners on this Saturday’s All In Zero Hour pre-show.

FTR defeated The Outrunners on last week’s show in a critically-acclaimed bout.

The tag match was one of three new bouts added to Saturday’s event during Thursday’s live Collision episode. The updated lineup:

AEW Collision live results: The final stop before All In

The final stop before this Saturday’s AEW All In has arrived with tonight’s live AEW Collision from Garland, Texas.

Before he enters the men’s Casino Gauntlet Saturday, CMLL legend Mistico will take on The Beast Mortos.

In an eight-woman tag ahead of the women’s Casino Gauntlet, former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa teams with Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa and Queen Aminata against ROH Women’s Champion Athena, Thekla, Megan Bayne and Julia Hart.

Rosa challenges Athena on Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor.

In an eight-man tag to preview the AEW World Tag Team title match, FTR teams with The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage & Nick Wayne against The Outrunners and JetSpeed. JetSpeed and The Patriarchy will challenge The Hurt Syndicate for the titles Saturday.

The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta) w/ Lance Archer & Don Callis vs. Paragon (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, & Kyle O’Reilly)

Fletcher started the match running across the ring to knock Cole to the floor and start fighting with O’Reilly. O’Reilly hit a kitchen sink and tagged out to Cole, but Fletcher fled to the corner and tagged in Beretta. The fans chanted “We want Kyle!” loudly for both Kyle’s, which remains great. Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Beretta to the delight of the fans, before Cole tagged in and hit a dropkick to a seated Beretta.

Beretta was able to get away from Strong with help from Fletcher, and Fletcher took over, getting the heat on Strong for a bit. The heat continued as the Callis family isolated O’Reilly. Beretta got dumped to the floor by O’Reilly, and Strong tagged in and sent Beretta back to the floor and hit Fletcher with a lariat that sent him flying. Strong hit a crucifix into a diamond cutter and an Olympic slam on Beretta before hitting a series of running elbows and a boot for a 2-count.

Fletcher hit an enziguri as Strong hit the ropes and tagged out letting RPG Vice hit a flying knee into a Death Valley Driver for a 2-count. Cole tagged in after Fletcher missed a helluva kick in the corner, hitting a brainbuster into neckbreaker on Beretta. Cole challenged Fletcher to get into the ring so they could fight and they started exchanging strikes, with Fletcher hitting a half nelson suplex but Cole superkicked him at a corner charge and hit the Panama Sunrise for a 2-count. Fletcher hit Cole with a lariat and tagged back out to Beretta. O’Reilly saved Cole from a Jackal Driver, and Cole hit the boom for a 3-count.

Match Result: Paragon via pinfall

–Fletcher tried to attack Cole as he left, but Cole turned around holding the TNT title and stopped the attack. Cole asked him to fight, as Callis screamed “Don’t take the bait!” and Fletcher listened, content to wait until Saturday at All In.

–Jon Moxley was backstage after Dynamite with the Death Riders, saying that pro wrestling is the greatest sport in the world, and very few people have the will to do what it takes to be one. Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Gabe Kidd made it clear they were after the trios title, and Moxley ended with saying that if you wanted to make it as a wrestler, you needed to be All In, otherwise you were all out, implying that Hangman really doesn’t know what is coming for him.

–Technique from Taz returned for the first time in a long time, as he broke down how Mistico does an armbar, including the phrase on screen “Core Strength Jones” which was great. This was really good overall.

–The recapped the return of Scorpio Sky and his now public alliance with Top Flight and Christopher Daniels. He called his new alliance Sky Flight, and Daniels cut a promo about how all the titles are on the table for what they want, as the sky is no limit. I liked this a lot.

Mistico vs. The Beast Mortos

Mistico and Mortos had a great lucha match, and wasted no time in working fast in this one. Mistico hit a tope suicida, but Mortos no sold it, and Mistico tried again, this time dropping Mortos. Mistico took Mortos’ hand and ran up the ropes twisting into an armdrag. Mortos hit a series of hard strikes afterwards, and a powerslam that put a sudden stop to Mistico’s attempts to control the offence. Mortos continued the heat through the break, working over the knee of Mistico.

Mortos caught Mistico in a torture rack position, but Mistico shifted his weight and spun around Mortos into a headscissors takedown before hitting a springboard elbow for a 2-count. Mistico went for La Mistica, but Mortos slammed him face down before he could complete the spin. Mortos went for a powerbomb, but Mistico floated over into a sunset flip bomb, which was really cool.

Mortos picked up Mistico in a tombstone position and jumped backwards into a lung blower. Mortos and Mistico slightly botched a counter from a tilt-a-whirl, but recovered and hit a beautiful one. Mistico hit a superkick and a flipping DDT on Mortos. Mistico hit the ropes soon thereafter and hit La Mistica to a great reaction from the fans.

Match Result: Mistico via submission

–MJF appeared on the screen with the mask he stole from Mistico, saying that Mistico stood no chance of stopping MJF from beating Mark Briscoe, saying he was going to win within 3 seconds. MJF said that he would keep collecting Mistico’s masks until he took them all if Mistico managed to get into the Casino Gauntlet.

–Mark Briscoe was backstage, saying that he was coming to win the Casino Gauntlet. It wasn’t just about business though, but personal, because MJF did use Jay Briscoe’s name and disrespected his family, and it was no longer just about winning, but he is going to look his family in the eyes after the match, saying he wasn’t going to let MJF get away with what he said and did. Mark Briscoe continues to be one of the best characters on AEW TV here, with an incredible promo.

–Renee Paquette met Hangman Adam Page after Dynamite last night, talking about how he needs to talk about what happened, but not with Renee, and he walked into Swerve Strickland’s locker room. Ospreay immediately stood up to get between them, but Hangman asked for 2 minutes of Swerve’s time, and Ospreay left the room as Hangman thanked him for all he has done. Prince Nana said he was going to grab coffee and let them talk.

Swerve said that he knew what this was about, thinking Hangman wanted to ask for his help. Hangman said he was going into a suicide mission on Sunday, and he might not have the chance to talk after All In, so he sat down with Swerve. Hangman said that he had nothing to do with what the Bucks did at Dynasty, which Swerve believed. Hangman went on to say that what Swerve did to him has led to his son still having nightmares to this day, and that he hates him for that, but he regrets how far it all went.

Hangman said he needed to know if Swerve regretted what happened, and Swerve said that since he was champion, he realized that it was not worth what he did. Hangman said his family was going to be at All In before the show, but not during, and Swerve promised to avoid them, saying he hoped they enjoyed hanging out. Swerve said that he was planning to raise his kids in the house that Hangman burnt down, but maybe it was time to let go of the past after all. The segment ended with Swerve picking up the chain Hangman left on the floor, wrapping it around his fist, thinking about this apparent truce with Hangman Adam Page. This was an awesome segment.

–Jon Moxley came out as Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone were discussing what just happened, and Moxley took a mic saying it made him sick seeing that crybaby stuff. Marina Shafir insulted Hangman, and Moxley said that there would be no apologies after what he does at All In, and Hangman had 2 days before Moxley ended him. This was awesome too.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) & The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) & Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)

Bailey started the match beating up Nick Wayne, tagging out to Knight to continue the assault. Wayne fled from the ring after a 2-count. Christian attacked Knight, but ate a dropkick after two leap frogs from Knight. Nigel McGuinness claimed that Christian should adopt Kevin Knight as well, as it would help him become a better competitor, which made me laugh.

Dax Harwood tagged in and beat on Truth Magnum, but Magnum fired back out of the corner, hitting a headscissors before hitting a double team knee lift into a back suplex from Floyd for a 2-count. Kevin Knight tagged in, and Harwood drove him backwards into he corner, but it broke down into all 4 men being in the ring and brawling around ringside.

Harwood low bridged Knight as he hit the ropes going for a dive, and they went to the break as the referee tried to get control again. They came back from the break with Harwood locking Knight in a chinlock, but Knight escaped with a jaw breaker. Knight went for the tag, but Harwood cut him off, so Knight dodged a corner charge, but Wayne stopped the tag. Knight kicked Wayne in the face, flipped over him, and tagged out to Truth Magnum, and the Outrunners ran wild, hitting a double clothesline on Christian and Nick Wayne before hitting the SOB elbow.

Harwood and Christian pulled Magnum into the ring post, allowing Wayne to hit sliced bread for a 2-count. Christian tagged in and started choking Magnum on the ropes. Magnum hit a snap suplex on Wayne, but was shoved back into the corner by Harwood. Magnum fought out of the corner, but as he made the tag, the referee was distracted and missed tag, which let the heels continue to beat on Magnum, which got a massive amount of heat from the audience. Sometimes, the simple things just work, and this is one that always does in wrestling. Wheeler tried to stop Magnum a few minutes later, but Magnum leaped over Harwood as he dived, and tagged out to Bailey, who hit a series of kicks and a standing shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count.

The fans were very displeased with the referee for that 2-count. Wheeler stopped Bailey from getting on the ropes and hitting Ultima Weapon, but Bailey dropped him and Wayne before hitting a slingshot moonsault to the floor, and then a shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count as Christian broke it up.

All 8 men started exchanging big moves until FTR hit the Shatter Machine on The Outrunners. They tried to hit Bailey, but Knight speared Wheeler, and Bailey hit a sunset flip on Harwood for a nearfall that was so close the fans were infuriated. Christian got hit with a combo from The Outrunners while Bailey hit a spinning kick on Harwood before Knight hit the UFO splash on Harwood for the win. This was a giant win for Jet Speed that they needed going into the PPV.

Match Result: Jet Speed & The Outrunners

This match was so awesome. A party match in the truest sense, with Jet Speed getting a much needed big win before the PPV.

–Big Boom AJ was with Lexy Nair and called out the Don Callis family, and Big Justice and the Rizzler announced that he would teaming with The Conglomeration to face RPG Vice, Lance Archer, & Hechicero, but they were short once guy. Kyle O’Reilly popped in and told people he was still down for conglomerating and is the 4th man in the match.

–Stokley Hathaway was backstage, saying that he made the mistake of trusting Christian Cage for the last time, and that at All In, they would face the Outrunners and end their feud once and for all.

Kaysuyori Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd (w/ Marina Shafir)

Shibata and Kidd immediately started brawling in the middle of the ring with hard forearms, spilled to the floor, and continued to fight, as Shibata hit a huge helluva kick on Kidd that almost sent him into the front row as the teacher beats on the student. Must have felt like it did in the dojo. Kidd managed to plant Shibata in the corner, hitting a dropkick and posing like Shibata.

Kidd chopped Shibata, and Shibata invitd more strikes, firing up, but he was dropped by a chop. Shibata kicked out at 1. Kidd did some squats to mock his teacher, so Shibata hit a hard chop that almost dropped Kidd. Both men hit chops before Kidd hit a headbutt that dropped Shibata. Kidd screamed “You did this. You made me do this!” as he beat on Shibata in the corner, and Shibata started no selling the hard chops before turning Kidd around, chopping him in the throat, and hitting the corner dropkick.

Kidd hit a chop to the back of Shibata that was so loud, that the crowd screamed. Kidd sat down, challenging Shibata, and Shibata hit Kidd with a slap to the top of the head, before hitting a pump kick and a hard lariat that caused Kidd to flip backwards. Kidd hit a closed fist punch, but Shibata hit hard chops that made the crowd scream again, before hitting a kick and locking on a sleeper. Wheeler Yuta ran down to distract the referee and Kidd hit a low blow before piledrving Shibata.

Match Result: Gabe Kidd

My goodness, this was a great match. It was not quite a G1 level match, but it was pretty darn close. They hit each other hard repeatedly for 10+ minutes. This was great.

–Kris Statlander came down to the ring as the Death Riders fled the ringside area, with Yuta eying her. Statlander joined the commentary booth for the next match. I liked how that tied together between the two segments, transitioning to the next match but keeping the story with Statlander and the Death Riders in mind.

Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata vs. Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford), Thekla, Julia Hart (w/ Skye Blue), & Athena (w/ Billie Starks)

Athena and Shirakawa started the match, with the home state hero, Athena getting a great reaction. Rosa tagged in after a bit to fight with Athena, anticipating their ROH Women’s World Championship match tomorrow night at ROH Supercard of Honor. Athena and Bayne ended up double teaming Rosa and Willow Nightingale, as Nigel McGuinness said that Athena’s title reign exceeded Bryan Danielson’s world title reign. I love McGuinness’ commitment to burying Danielson.

Bayne launched Athena through the ropes into a suicide dive on Nightingale. Bayne tagged in Thekla, who hit a snapmare and superkick on Rosa. The fans were chanting for Aminata and actually booed when Rosa tagged in Nightingale, which I did not expect, but the fans wanted to see Thekla and Aminata fight again. Athena tagged in and got the heat on Nightingale in the corner. Athena hit a running meteora on Nightingale.

Hart tagged in and did the tarantula on Nightingale and attempted to float through the ropes, but Nightingale caught her and hit a Death Valley Driver. Nightingale tagged out to Aminata, to a great reaction, so props to the agents for giving her the hot tag here, or the wrestlers knowing to wait it out to tag her in. Thekla ducked under a clothesline and hit a pump kick on the apron. Aminata hit a headbutt on Thekla before hitting a twist and shout that Thekla sold like death.

Bayne came in and faced off with Aminata, and Bayne hit a falcon arrow. Bayne hit the ropes, but Nightingale came out of nowhere and hit a pounce that sent Bayne to the floor. Athena flew off the top rope with the O-Face out of nowhere, and Mina Shirakawa flew off the top rope onto Bayne on the floor. Hart hit a moonsault on Nightingale, but Shirakawa made the save, and she signaled to Nightingale to hit stereo top rope moves, but they were cut off by Hart and Thekla.

Hart and Thekla both hit suplexes but stayed in the tree of woe on opposite side of the ring. Thekla did her crab walk thing, and Aminata pulled Thekla from the ring, but Bayne leveled Aminata. Shirakawa hit a tornado DDT on the floor on Bayne while Athena and Rosa both clotheslined each other and went down. Hart went for an octopus stretch, but Nightingale fought out and hit the Babe with the Powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata

–The heels started beating down the babyfaces, but Tay Melo & Anna Jay ran down to make the save. Penelope Ford got involved, as did Statlander, and the women in the Casino Gauntlet all started fighting as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts

This was another excellent episode of AEW Collision, with several matches being built up very well. The angle with Hangman and Swerve, and the following promo with Moxley were must see. The 8-man tag and Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd were fantastic matches that you should go out of your way to see.

AEW Collision 100 live results: Daniel Garcia vs. Kyle Fletcher

Tonight’s 100th episode of AEW Collision from Ontario, California, will feature former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR taking on The Outrunners as a featured bout.

In another featured match, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia battles Kyle Fletcher in a rematch from last year’s Continental Classic. Current champion Adam Cole will also be on the show, celebrating his birthday.

In another eight-woman tag, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena teams with Megan Bayne, Thekla and Julia Hart to take on Thunder Rosa, Tay Melo, Anna Jay and Queen Aminata.

In a singles challenge turned three-way, Shelton Benjamin will take on Kevin Knight and ROH TV Champion Nick Wayne.

Mistico will team with Hologram and Mark Briscoe against Rocky Romero, Hechicero and Trent Beretta of the Don Callis Family.

Willow Nightingale will take on Vipress while Max Caster will host another open challenge to round out the broadcast.

Adam Cole opened the show, making his way down to the ring to hype up the crowd. Cole introduced the 100th episode of Collision and he thanked the fans for their support, saying he is proud to represent TNT as the TNT Champion, and that he is optimistic for the future of AEW. Cole promised to hold onto the championship for the future into 2026, and he was interrupted by Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher claimed that the future of the company belonged to him, and said he was going to take the TNT title from Cole. Fletcher reminded Cole that he and MJF beat Aussie Open at All In 2023 when they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Fletcher said that he was not the same wrestler he was back then, and this time, when they faced off at All In, he wanted a match with Cole, and he was going to win the TNT Championship.

Daniel Garcia came out and pointed out that he is the future of AEW, not Fletcher, and that when he sees Adam Cole in the ring, he is distracted and tempted to look past Fletcher, because he wants the TNT Championship back.

Cole responded that he would give Garcia a chance anytime he wanted, and that Fletcher needed the help of the Don Callis family to survive the last time they were in the ring. Cole said that as he was a fighting champion and he would fight them both. Fletcher protested, pointing out that he beat Garcia in the Continental Classic last year when Garcia was TNT Champion and never got a shot, so he deserves the shot one-on-one. Garcia responded that he didn’t want the title shot as a reward, but that he wanted to earn it, while reminding people that he may lose, but he always gets back up, so he wanted to make his match with Fletcher tonight a chance at a title shot. Cole agreed.

–A hype video aired for Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone that was incredible. Storm talked about how not everything in life was worth fighting over, but sometimes you find that one thing that is worth losing blood over, and for Storm, it is the AEW Women’s World Championship. She said that the match at All In would not be pretty, and it would be a fight that might discourage girls from becoming wrestlers because it was so violent. She also said that there were two types of people in wrestling – the egotistical, greedy, selfish people that want it all, and the people that take them down. Excellent video.

Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP) vs. Nick Wayne (w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian) vs. Kevin Knight (w/ Mike Bailey)

Benjamin spent the early part of the match throwing Wayne and Knight around the ring until Knight cradled Benjamin as he ran at him, but he kicked out. Wayne and Knight dropkicked Benjamin from the ring, and Wayne hit a flying uppercut on Knight before going after the ribs in the corner. Wayne walked backwards into Benjamin and realized he was in trouble, as Benjamin suplexed him and then tossed Wayne to the floor.

Benjamin slammed Wayne on the floor, as Mother Wayne looked on concerned. Wayne escaped Benjamin and locked Knight in a chinlock back in the ring. Knight hit the ropes, Wayne dropped down, and Benjamin came in and popped Knight up into the air for him to crash down to the mat. Benjamin hit a tilt-a-whirl slam on Wayne, and Knight flew off the ropes into a sunset flip on Benjamin, but Wayne broke it with a crucifix on Knight and Knight kicked out. Both Wayne and Knight then superkicked Benjamin, sending him back into the corner.

Knight sent Wayne across the ring into the arms of Benjamin who powerbombed Wayne into Knight, hit a German suplex on Wayne, and another on Knight. Benjamin then started several German suplexes on both men, throwing people around like they weighed nothing, hitting flying knees on both men. Knight low bridged Benjamin and Wayne flew over Knight with a tope con giro onto Benjamin which Knight followed with a springboard clothesline on both men.

Wayne bit a code red back in the ring on Knight for a 2-count. Knight hit a dropkick on Wayne for a 2-count. Benjamin ducked under a Knight attack, locking on an ankle lock. Nick Wayne hit a superkick on Benjamin, then Wayne’s World. As he went for the pin, Knight flew off the ropes with a UFO splash onto Wayne and Benjamin to pin Benjamin for the win.

Match Result: Kevin Knight

Excellent match from these guys, though the heat was not very high for it. Of course, it wouldn’t be given the beating Knight and Bailey took on Dynamite making people believe that they did not stand a chance here. Thankfully, they gave Knight the win, clean as a sheet, which adds at least a little doubt about the Hurt Syndicate winning at All In.

–The Death Riders were walking out of the building after Dynamite, refusing an interview until Claudio Castagnoli stopped and turned to the camera, saying he was getting sick of the Opps, and how he, Yuta, and a partner were coming for their AEW Trios Championships at All In. Solid promo. Who will their partner be, given PAC is out injured?

The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe & Hologram) & Mistico vs. Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) & Hechicero

Mistico got a superstar reaction coming out, which always makes me smile. Mistico and Romero started the match, with Mistico hitting a lucha arm drag on Romero before tagging out to Briscoe, who hit a series of chops and strikes with his redneck kung fu. Hologram handed Briscoe a chair and Briscoe went for a dive to the floor off the chair, but Beretta shoved the chair out of the way and then hit a drop toe hold onto the chair on Briscoe as the referee’s back was turned.

The heels got the heat on Briscoe for the next few minutes. When they came back from the break Hologram was hitting a headscissors takedown on Hechicero. RPG Vice tried to hit a double team move but only succeeded in swinging Hologram backwards around Beretta leading into a poisonrana of sorts. It took all three men of the Don Callis Family to stop Hologram, with Romero hitting a flying knee on Hologram who was draped on the ropes, and a running knee from Beretta. Hechicero flipped Hologram into the air into an armbar, but Briscoe broke it up.

Romero celebrated hitting a kick on Mistico, but ate a monkey flip from Hologram. Beretta floored Hologram, and it left Briscoe in the ring with Beretta, who was quickly dumped to the floor. Briscoe hit a flip dive off the apron on Romero before setting up two chairs with Hologram and hitting stereo tope con giro as Mistico hit La Mistica on Romero for the finish.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe, Hologram, & Mistico

–MJF and MVP appeared on the screen, and MVP said that while Briscoe wanted to chat one-on-one, MJF doesn’t chat without his crew with him, and that Mistico has no chance of coming up for the Casino Gauntlet Match as MJF was going to beat Briscoe before anyone else could make their entrance.

–Swerve Stricktland, Anna Jay, and AEW were present for a NASCAR race, and showed the stars hanging out with the pit crews and drivers, promoting the event, while they also promoted AEW. This was cool! AEW stars are frequently at sports events and almost never show it, so this was a win. Show this stuff more often, as it makes the wrestlers look like huge stars.

–Max Caster was in the ring for his open challenge, and they started to chant his chant. Caster claimed they were making funny of him, so they should chant “This crowd sucks!” The crowd then chanted “This crowd sucks!” which was hilarious. They put a 5 minute timer on the video awaiting the challenger. They showed Scorpio Sky training with Christopher Daniels as his coach, and Top Flight as his trainees, to a great reaction from his hometown crowd.

Max Caster vs. Scorpio Sky (w/ Christopher Daniels)

Caster jumped Sky to start the match, but it was less than 15 seconds before Sky turned it around, hit a TKO, and pinned Caster as the fans were chanting “Welcome back!” at him.

It is really great to see Scorpio Sky back. I had been wondering where he was, and he looked in incredible shape here.

–Ricochet was with Lexy Nair and he refused to expose what he was talking about with the Gates of Agony last week, saying that actions speak louder than words, and led the camera back to a laid out Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, who were destroyed by the Gates of Agony. It seems Ricochet has found his crew, and it wasn’t Christian and Johnson, but Ricochet did say they have to earn his respect.

Willow Nightingale vs. Viperess

Nigel McGuinness said that it is impossible to hate Nightingale, saying he tried his best, but failed. That was a great line. Kris Statlander was shown watching the match backstage while Wheeler Yuta walked up, and Statlander insisted that she did not need Yuta’s help as Nightingale hit a pounce on Viperess and a powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale

–Renee Paquette walked up to Anthony Bowens backstage, saying that his match did not go as he wanted, and before he could talk, Billy Gunn walked up and said that he wasn’t out there because he believed that Bowens didn’t want him there. The division between them seemingly mended when Bowens said he wanted results now, and Gunn said that he just needed to trust in him, and they would get through this.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

McGuinness claimed Turbo Floyd was one of the Garbage Pail Kids, with another gem of a line. The Outrunners and FTR broke down into a brawl early on, with The Outrunners sending FTR to the floor. Hathaway started shouting at Tony Schiavone in response to this, which caused Schiavone to exclaim, “You’re trouble!” I love Tony Schiavone. Truth Magnum hit an old school headscissors takedown on Cash Wheeler before Wheeler tagged out to Harwood.

As Harwood beat on Floyd, FTR pulled some old school tag team tactics with the abdominal stretch and holding each other’s hands, and switching partners behind the referee’s back. As the referee turned around, he saw Wheeler in the ring, who is noticeably not bald, so twin magic did not work here, and the referee demanded Wheeler leave the ring. That was hilarious. Floyd managed to tag out after reversing a suplex by Wheeler. Wheeler stopped the SOB Elbow and they took Floyd to the floor, smashing his leg between the ring steps and the post.

Harwood punched Truth Magnum right between the eyes, and he started bleeding just above the bridge of his nose. Wheeler hit a knee breaker on the ring steps on Floyd as Magnum was bleeding everywhere in the ring thanks to Harwood. Harwood hit a brainbuster and tagged out to Wheeler. Magnum dodged a dropkick in the corner from Wheeler, kicked Harwood as he went for back body drop, and almost made the tag, but Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron preventing the tag.

FTR hit a double team DDT on Magnum, and Wheeler put his foot on Magnum’s chest for a pinfall attempt, but Magnum kicked out and fought off a superplex attempt in the corner. Harwood blocked him from a tag, and both men hit clotheslines as Magnum fought out of the corner and were down. Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron again, but Floyd hit a strike on Harwood, letting Magnum roll him up for a 2-count. FTR then hit a powerbomb into a neckbreaker for a 2-count, and Harwood missed a Harley Race style headbutt and Magnum finally got the tag.

Floyd came in and had trouble bodyslaming Harwood, but hit a lariat and a bodyslam after great effort. The SOB elbow saw them both able to stand and they hit it on Wheeler for a 2-count as the fans started to go nuts. Wheeler hit a dragon screw leg whip on Floyd, leading to Floyd being on the apron. Floyd hit a sunset flip on Wheeler, but Wheeler kicked out. The Outrunners hit the Shatter Machine and almost got the win, but Harwood barely made the save. Wheeler floated over the back of Floyd and Floyd turned into a Shatter Machine for the pinfall, as the camera showed Hathaway holding the foot of Magnum, preventing him from making the save.

Match Result: FTR

This was an incredible tag team match. Both teams work together well, and just know what to do to tell a compelling story throughout the match. All 4 guys worked very hard, and FTR gave The Outrunners everything before beating them, including an excuse for the loss. While I think it might have been a good call to have The Outrunners go over here, I don’t think this loss hurt them. That said, being the team that comes close and always loses is no way for them to stay over long term. They need to do something with these guys, and it felt like they were heating back up here in this match, so I hope AEW takes advantage of it.

TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo), Queen Aminata, & Thunder Rosa vs. Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, Athena, & Thekla (w/ Penelope Ford)

Thekla started the match with Aminata, hitting a headscissors and a strike. Aminata hit a slap that rocked Thekla, who smiled and tagged out to Julia Hart. Hart did not last long before Rosa and Bayne ended up in the ring, with Rosa hitting a dropkick that didn’t even move Bayne. Bayne dumped Rosa into the corner, hit a chop, and missed a corner charge. Rosa hit a dropkick from the top rope that dropped Bayne.

Aminata hit a flying double stomp on Bayne, but Bayne stood up and Aminata tagged back out to Rosa to begin to double team Bayne, who hit a flying clothesline that dropped both wrestlers. Bayne hit a running helluva kick in the corner and tagged out to Thekla. Rosa and Thekla exchanged hard shots in the middle of the ring until Thekla locked her version of the tarantula in the corner on Rosa. Anna Jay saved Rosa from a submission, and Thekla squared off with Jay as Hart had Rosa in the opposite corner, with Hart and Thekla both suplexing their opponents, then Hart moonsaulting into the feet of Thunder Rosa.

Tay Melo tagged in and hit a black hole slam and three helluva kicks in the corner on Thekla. Anna Jay came in and hit a gory bomb into a knee from Tay Melo, but the heels broke up the pinfall. The match broke down into everyone hitting big moves, including Athena sending Jay into a headlock from Melo, elbowing Melo, and forcing Melo to accidentally DDT her own partner. Rosa and Athena then brawled all around ringside, setting up their match for Friday’s ROH PPV.

Anna Jay hit a DDT on Bayne, but Penelope Ford distracted the referee and Skye Blue sent Melo into the guardrail behind the referee’s back. Bayne missed a spear attempt on Jay, hitting the ring post, but Ford distracted her and Bayne hit a flying clothesline and huge powerbomb for the win. I like that running powerbomb as her finish more than the F5.

Match Result: Megan Bayne, Julia Hart, Thekla, & Athena

–Another Alex Windsor hype video aired, as she discussed her torn ACL, and how she refused to give up, wanting to show her son that she can win gold. This was very good.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Daniel Garcia (w/ Matt Menard)

Fletcher and Garcia started the match exchanging holds and a brief dance off. There was a very loud piped in “This is awesome!” chant that the crowd was clearly not chanting. I imagine they were chanting something very rude about Don Callis, as Callis was upset, and Garcia flipped off Callis. Garcia sent Fletcher to the floor, but he ate a pump kick from Fletcher. Callis stood up and hugged Fletcher, which proved to be a distraction that allowed Garcia to drop Fletcher.

Garcia and Cole bumped fists, but Fletcher sprung back up and sent Garcia into the guardrail like a lawn dart and he came up covered in blood. When the came back from the break, a bloody Garcia was fighting on the apron over a suplex, and Garcia hit a German suplex on the apron before hitting a shotgun dropkick as Fletcher was sitting on a chair against the guardrail. Garcia hit a superplex and rolled over into a pinfall attempt, but only got a 2-count. Fletcher hit a superkick on Garcia and a Last Ride powerbomb for a 2-count.

Fletcher went for a corner charge, but Garcia took the leg and locked on the dragon tamer, but Fletcher reached back as Garcia leaned back and put him in a headlock, forcing the break of the whole. Garcia stood up and tried to suplex Fletcher, and both men spilled over the top rope to the floor. Fletcher hit a half nelson suplex on the floor on Garcia, who seemed to be in a daze as Fletcher picked him up. Fletcher picked Garcia up and powerbombed him into the apron, and Cole got flashbacks to when Fletcher did that to him. Cole stood up and started encouraging Garcia to get up, but Flechter ran in with a helluva kick and hit a vertical drop brainbuster on Garcia for the win.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher

This was an awesome match, start to finish. Fletcher and Garcia have excellent chemistry, and Fletcher continues to be one of the hottest rising stars in the company. I think Fletcher should probably win the TNT title from Adam Cole at All In, and then go from there. He should absolutely be factored into the main event scene when Ospreay finally wins the title, presumably next year, and I would have Fletcher beat him for the title after Ospreay’s run is over. We shall see if that is what will happen over the next few years, but it seems Fletcher is destined to be a big time main eventer for AEW.

Final Thoughts

While none of the very top stars were on this show, this was nonetheless an excellent edition of AEW Collision, with several matches being setup for All In. Even though it is a B-show, it was a B-show that advanced many of the midcard stories leading into the PPV, which is exactly what they should be doing with Collision every week (with the occasional A-level episode). This week’s show is definitely worth a watch for the FTR/Outrunners match and Fletcher/Garcia alone.

FTR vs. The Outrunners set for AEW Collision 100

A tag team match is set for AEW Collision’s 100th episode on Saturday, July 5.

After an in-ring confrontation on this week’s episode, FTR and The Outrunners will square off in tag team action on next week’s AEW Collision 100.

Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum of The Outrunners challenged FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to a match on this week’s show, but FTR’s agent Stokely Hathaway stepped in and said that his team doesn’t fight for free, but that they could wrestle next week. AEW later officially announced the tag team contest for Collision 100.

The 100th episode of AEW Collision will be taped Wednesday night, July 2 in Ontario, California after the live airing of AEW Dynamite’s 300th episode the same night. The lineups for next week’s shows:

AEW Collision live results: Adam Cole vs. Josh Alexander TNT title match

Reigning TNT Champion Adam Cole will put his title on the line against former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander on tonight’s AEW Collision from Kent, Washington.

Like others, Cole has been feuding with the Don Callis Family recently and issued an open challenge to anyone in the faction. He will be looking for the third title of his run while Alexander has lost two straight. This will be their first ever singles bout.

The Callis Family will be represented in two other matches as Rocky Romero & Hechicero take on Brody King & Templario while Kyle Fletcher goes one-on-one with Kyle O’Reilly.

FTR will confront The Outrunners while The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage & Nick Wayne will be in action against Big Bill & Bryan Keith.

The women will also be represented as Megan Bayne takes on VertVixen while Queen Aminata battles Skye Blue.

The show is airing Thursday at 8 PM Eastern due to NASCAR coverage this Saturday on TNT.

AEW Collision opened with FTR and The Outrunners coming out to the ring, with FTR intending to address The Outrunners attacking them and standing against them on Dynamite last night. FTR had a video made to highlight their friendship, saying that The Outrunners were jealous of the success of FTR. Harwood said that they failed in their quest to become AEW World Tag Team champions, and that is why they attacked FTR last week.

Harwood did a lot of talking here, not letting The Outrunners talk, but once he said they would never be as good as FTR, they took their time to talk. Truth Magnum, from Seattle, where the show was, pointed out that the fans would always believe in them, and they the fans, and their biggest mistake was believing in FTR. Turbo Floyd said that he wanted a fight with them, but Stokely Hathaway said that they didn’t fight for free, so they could fight next week in California.

–A recap video aired of the Young Bucks moving Swerve and Ospreay’s match up to the first match on the show, and Swerve and Ospreay challenged them to a match for their EVP titles with the company, and how the Bucks suspended Swerve for a week for attacking a referee, and then cut to the Bucks beating up Hangman Page, and Swerve was unable to join in for the save since he was suspended. I really liked how they cut those two angles together, showing the implication that the heroes tried to save Hangman, but couldn’t because Swerve was not there to round out the team.

The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) (w/ Kip Sabian & Mother Wayne) vs. The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

This match started slow, with Keith and Wayne opening. Eventually Wayne tagged out to Christian and Keith tagged out to Bill, which made Christian afraid. Christian ate a punch and immediately tagged out to Wayne, who was forced to come in and fell victim to Bill and Keith double teaming him. Wayne shoved Bill, who came into the ring and took Wayne, who cockily turned his back on Bill, into a Gorilla Press and tossed him at Christian Cage.

When the came back from the break, Christian and Wayne were beating on Keith in the corner, with Wayne hitting a vertical suplex. Christian tagged back in and hit an inverted DDT on Keith for a 2-count. Christian went for the Killswitch, but Keith fought out and both men bumped heads and went down. Keith tagged out to Bill while Christian tagged out to Wayne, and Bill started the hot tag. Wayne launched off the top rope and Bill hit a big boot, then jumped over a spear attempt from Christian and hit a big boot on him.

Bill hit a black hole slam on Wayne and tagged back out to Keith. Keith hit a Northern Lights Suplex on Wayne for a 2-count. Sabian tried to interfere, so Bill threw him into the timekeeper area and started beating on him. As Keith hit a powerbomb on Wayne, Mother Wayne jumped up on the apron and distracted the referee, allowing Christian to recover and break the pinfall attempt. Bill missed a charge at Christian, leading to Bill running into the ring post, while Christian hit a spear on Keith who was attempting to powerbomb Wayne again for the win.

Match Result: The Patriarchy defeated The Learning Tree (Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

–Josh Alexander was backstage, saying that he was going to beat Adam Cole for the TNT Championship tonight, freeing him of the burden of carrying the title. Alexander promised that he was going to break the ankle of Cole, sending him to the injury list again.

–MVP met Christian and Nick Wayne backstage, saying that he was impressed with their wins, but that the Nick Wayne was just a kid, but that if he and Wayne went against the Hurt Syndicate, he couldn’t win with Wayne, and that they didn’t stand a chance against the Hurt Syndicate. Christian Cage said that if he wanted the tag titles, they would have them. MVP said “Good luck, because you’ll need it.” This was a good segment, where we finally see people aiming to get the tag titles.

Brody King & Templario vs. The Don Callis Family (Rocky Romero & Hechicero)

Templario & Hechicero started the match, to the delight of the fans as they were getting lucha. Hechicero tried to intimidate Brody King. It did not work. Templario hit a hurricanrana on Hechicero, but Hechicero hit a flying knee leading to King to blind tag in. Romero demanded to tag in, and went face to chest with King, with Romero attempting to knock King down with shoulder tackles, which was a funny image. Hechicero and King ended up on the apron exchanging strikes, while Romero hit a dropkick to the knee of King, allowing the heels to start to beat on the bigger man.

Templario blind tagged in and hit a crossbody on Hechicero, and King slammed Romero onto his partner and hit a senton. When we came back from break, Templario hit a face first suplex on Hechicero before tagging out to King. King hit a cannonball in the corner on Hechicero, but Romero broke it up. King hit the ropes, but Romero low bridged him while Hechicero locked a leg submission on Templario and Romero hit a flying knee off the apron on King.

Templario made the ropes, and Hechicero was very upset. Templario hit a wheelbarrow suplex. King tagged in and Romero tried to chop him. This did not work. Hechicero choked him in the ropes instead, but while Hechicero was trying to do this, King walked forward, pulling Hechicero onto the ropes letting Templario to hit a flying double stomp on Hechicero and then a Sasuke Special to the floor. King hit the Gonzo Bomb on Romero for the pinfall. This was a really fun match.

Match Result: Brody King & Templario defeated The Don Callis Family

–A hype video aired for Mercedes Mone and all her titles, and it was inter-cut with a hype video for Toni Storm, but Mone cut the film off literally, hitting a projector with a bat. Mone said that Storm was a faker, and that their match would be a beautiful murder that she wrote. That was a good pun. Mone invited Storm to ringside for her match against Mina Shirakawa next week, as she wrestles her 1000th match.

–Toni Storm was with Mina Shirakawa backstage, and Storm was promising revenge against Mone, but Shirakawa said that she did not want storm to get involved in her TBS title match against Mone. Storm agreed, but asked that Shirakawa leave something left for her at All In.

Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford) vs. Vertvixen

Bayne hit a running kick and a butterfly suplex on Vertvixen to open the match. Bayne hit Fate’s Descent soon after for the pinfall.

–Anthony Bowens was backstage and he announced he was entering the qualifier for the Casino Gauntlet, saying that he and Billy Gunn will have a new strategy so he can enter at #2 and have a better chance of winning to secure a title shot.

AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole defends against Josh Alexander (w/ Trent Beretta)

Adam Cole and Josh Alexander had a great match that would have been ever better with more time. I’d like to see them do this match again down the line.

Alexander seemed to have the advantage over Cole several times throughout this match, hitting hard chops and a crossbody while Cole was on the apron, sending him to the floor. As they came back from an ad break, they showed Alexander charging at Cole in the corner, and Cole hit a superkick out of the corner, and a few pump kicks before hitting an Ushigoroshi. Cole blocked a brainbuster and hit a back stabber for a 2-count.

Cole signaled for the Panama Sunrise, but Alexander caught him and hit a flapjack before going back to an ankle lock. Cole escaped, but Alexander hit a forward rolling fireman’s carry and a knee off the middle ropes for a 2-count on Cole. Cole and Alexander battled on the ropes for a bit before Cole shoved him off and hit a Panama Sunrise for a 2-count. Cole went for the Boom, but Alexander fell to the mat, baited Cole in, and locked on the ankle lock again.

Cole escaped with a series of upkicks, but ate a big boot from him and then a German suplex but he was unable to bridge due to Cole working on the neck. Alexander blocked a superkick, hit a forearm, and picked Cole up for the C4 Spike. Cole flipped onto his feet as Alexander picked him up, hit a superkick, and then the Boom for the pinfall victory. This was a good match.

Match Result: AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole defeated Josh Alexander to retain

–Ricochet was confronted by AR Fox backstage for abandoning him in their tag match on Dynamite, but The Gates of Agony attacked and laid out Fox, leaving Ricochet impressed, asking to talk with them more.

–A hype video aired for Alex Windsor, announcing her signing with AEW.

Queen Aminata vs. Skye Blue (w/ Julia Hart)

This match was a little rough at the start, but the crowd got into it when Skye Blue dodged a beheading dropkick from Aminata and hit a twist and should off the apron to the floor before they went to break. When they came back, Aminata hit a big boot the head of Blue in the corner. Aminata went for a fisherman’s neckbreaker, but Blue fought out, hit a knee, and then a TKO for a 2-count. Aminata hit a big headbutt and a kick that sent Blue to the floor.

Blue hid behind Julia Hart, allowing her to pop out and pull Aminata into the ring steps. Blue went to the top rope and hit flying knees to Aminata. Blue looked a bit hesitant, and Aminata couldn’t catch her on that, so both hit the floor and it is a miracle that neither got hurt there. Aminata didn’t catch Blue, and Blue didn’t stretch out, instead jumping vertically, leaving very little room to be caught. Aminata hit the decapitating dropkick in the ropes and got the win.

Match Result: Queen Aminata defeated Skye Blue

–Thekla ran down to the ring as Julia Hart and Aminata faced off, and Hart, Thekla, and Blue beat on Aminata, forming an alliance of some sort. Anna Jay and Tay Melo ran down to make the save, and as they chased the heels off, Penelope Ford and Megan Bayne came out to the ramp, as Nigel McGuinness pointed out that all 8 women might be in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet at All In.

–Daniel Garcia & Matt Menard were backstage asking about Garcia’s problems with the Don Callis Family. Rocky Romero walked up saying that the family had no problems with Garcia, and that the offer of joining Callis’ family was still on the table. Romero said that Garcia didn’t know what a real friend looked like, and that he shouldn’t trust Cole, and if he wanted a real family, he knew where to find them.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Kyle O’Reilly

Fletcher and O’Reilly immediately started with some high quality mat wrestling, as the fans amusingly chanted “Kyle!” for both men. This was followed with “This is Kyle!” I love wrestling audiences. Fletcher claimed credit for the chants, which caused the fans to boo him, and as fans chanted “Kyle’s Awesome” and “Kyle Sucks!” it actually worked well as a clever dueling chant.

As they came back from ad break, the fans were chanting “We want Kyle!” Well, you have two of them, fans! Fletcher slammed O’Reilly in the ring, maintaining wrist control, but O’Reilly pulled himself up and hit some forearms. Fletcher went for another slam, but O’Reilly turned it into a triangle choke that Fletcher powered out of.

O’Reilly and Fletcher exchanged kicks and knees and both men went down. This match has been great, and the fans have been red hot for it, which is both a testament to their commitment to have fun chanting about Kyle, while also enjoying the work of both wrestlers. O’Reilly went for a guillotine choke, but Fletcher pulled O’Reilly up, who floated over, clipped the knee, then locked on an armbar as the fans chanted “We Kyle people!” ala the Hurt Syndicate. O’Reilly hit a dragon screw on Fletcher as the fans chanted “He’s our Kyle!” like the “He’s our scumbag!” chant for MJF.

O’Reilly hit a flying knee drop onto the knee of Fletcher and went for a heel hook, leading to Fletcher screaming in pain and grabbing for the ropes. O’Reilly missed a flying knee strike and Fletcher hit a superkick and a running big boot on the floor, but O’Reilly pulled Fletcher’s arm into a chair as Fletcher grabbed for him. The fans chanted “You sick Kyle!” as O’Reilly hit a flying dropkick off the apron on Fletcher.

Lance Archer ran down and laid O’Reilly out on the ground as Fletcher distracted the referee. O’Reilly kicked out of a Michinoku Driver, but finally fell to a brainbuster from Fletcher to end a fantastic match. As Archer and Fletcher attacked and beat down O’Reilly after the match, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, and Daniel Garcia ran down to make the save and they posed together as Fletcher yelled that the TNT Championship was his.

Final Thoughts

This was a decent episode of Collision with a fantastic main event. I loved the video packages and announcing of a few big matches for Dynamite on Wednesday, and even one match for Collision. AEW has been hit or miss in announcing matches for the next show the last few years, but always benefit when they do announce at least one big match. I do miss the days of having the full card in advance like the early Dynamites though.

Three matches officially added to AEW Double or Nothing

Three new matches are official for Double or Nothing.

During AEW Collision, it was confirmed that Nigel McGuiness will team with Daniel Garcia to take on FTR. On the most recent episode of Dynamite, Garcia told McGuiness he was going to go after FTR with or without him, but it would be an honor to fight by his side. Stokley Hathaway came out and distracted the duo long enough into getting sneak attacked from behind by FTR. Daddy Magic came out for the save with a crowbar.

On Collision, McGuiness announced he would team with Garcia at Double or Nothing.

It was also announced that Ricochet will face Mark Briscoe in a stretcher match. On Dynamite, Ricochet was about to lay out Zach Gowen with another spirit gun when Mark Briscoe came to the ring to make the save. In a segment that aired after Dynamite, Briscoe issued the challenge for a stretcher match, which was made official Saturday.

After both teams made it clear they wanted to go after the Hurt Syndicate, Cru and Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes battled on Collision, with Guevara & Rhodes picking up the win to become the new number one contenders. It was soon announced the match would take place next Sunday.

AEW Collision live results: FTR vs. Paragon two-out-of-three falls

The rivalry between the newly-turned FTR and Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong continues on tonight’s live AEW Collision as the two teams battle in a two out of three falls match.

Tonight’s show airs on TBS due to NBA playoff coverage on TNT.

In a $100,000 “high speed collision” four-way, it will be Rush vs. Kevin Knight vs. AR Fox vs. ROH Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara.

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm takes on Lady Frost in a title eliminator bout while Megan Bayne goes one-on-one with Harley Cameron.

In a highly-anticipated singles match, Josh Alexander looks for his first AEW singles win as he battles Brody King.

– It’s Saturday and you know what that means. Time for Collision on “The Mothership” for Saturday night wrestling, just like old times. Adam Cole made his entrance as he walked to commentary to join Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness on the call.

Women’s World Championship Eliminator: “Timeless” Toni Storm versus Lady Frost

Frost looked impressive early as she had Storm on the ropes outside with a dive to the outside. In the ring, Storm bounced back with a Lou Thesz Press on Frost. After a rollup attempt, Frost caught Storm with a shoulder charge, followed by a cannonball in the corner.

Frost headed up top and dropped Storm with a cross-body for the two. Storm answered with a sitdown powerbomb for the near fall. She tried for the hip drop, but Frost intercepted and caught her for the Chiller Driller for another near-fall. Storm recovered and managed to connect with the hip drop in the corner. Storm eventually prevailed with the TCM Chickenwing submission, as Frost passed out.

After the match, Storm got on the mic and addressed that while everyone’s coming for her, Storm said that she’s be coming for them instead. She headed out the ring and all around the crowd, and outside the arena in the Atlantic City boardwalk. She said that she’d be here, queer and always timeless as she wrapped her promo.

A solid enough opener and Frost did get her shots in, so really can’t complain. Storm’s post-match promo was entertaining as usual, and her remarks about being here and queer are very much welcomed, especially in the current climate of our world today.

– We got backstage remarks from Jon Moxley ahead of his steel cage match against Samoa Joe for the AEW Title at Beach Break on May 14th. Moxley said that his affairs were in order, and that if we subscribe to the notion that he’s scared, Joe should think things through better.

$100,000 High-Speed Collision: Rush versus Sammy Guevara versus Kevin Knight versus A.R. Fox

Things started off with the four men facing off before we were left with Knight and Rush mixing it up in the ring. The two men traded chops and strikes before Rush got the edge on Knight with a fierce headbutt. Knight recovered to deliver a scoop slam on Rush as we then got a stalemate of armdrags and dropkicks from the two. Guevara and Fox soon re-entered the match and had their turn of the action as they dispatched of Knight and Rush.

Guevara flipped over Fox as he then floored his foe with a dropkick. Fox reversed Guevara in the corner and hit a splash on the apron. As Knight and Rush re-entered the ring, things quickened right as Knight missed on a running corner attack after Rush dodged at the last second. We went to break at this point.

We returned to Collision with Hologram keeping an eye on the match from the crowd as Fox and Knight exchanged pleasantries. From the apron, Fox soared with a springboard inverted moonsault on Knight. Guevara soon took down both Knight and Fox with a shooting star press. Rush aggressively reasserted himself as he threw everyone into the barricade. Knight fought out of an attempted suplex on the steps by Rush, as he blasted him with a stairs-assisted leaping dropkick. As Knight tried to run at Rush, he got thrown right onto the ramp back first, which made for a rough landing. Rush and Knight then brawled their way up the stage as Guevara and Fox were left in the ring.

Fox countered Guevara’s GTH as he then caught him with a Spanish Fly, followed by a splash for the close near fall. Fox left a prone Guevara in the middle of the ring and looked to hit a senton. Fox again countered out of a GTH attempt, but he couldn’t avoid the knee from one half of the ROH Tag Champions. Third time’s the charm for Guevara as he finished off Fox with the GTH to earn the $100,000.

After the match, Guevara pointed towards Adam Cole, making it clear he wanted a shot at Cole’s TNT Championship.

Just a fun four-way match, something that AEW has really excelled in as of late with four high-flying stars. Lots to like here.

– We got a pretape promo from Samoa Joe ahead of his Steel Cage match against Jon Moxley at Beach Break. Joe said that while he understands that Moxley has the ruthless streak to go after him, and that he had to put this match in the cage because he felt that the the Jon Moxley he sees today doesn’t have the courage to face him like a man.

– A hype video from The Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong, and FTR for their 2/3 Falls Match was shown before our next match.

Megan Bayne versus Harley Cameron

Cameron caught Bayne flatfooted as the bell rang with a charge into the corner, which gave her the early advantage. Cameron battered Bayne from the corner as she continued to set the tone early on, at least until Bayne turned the tide with an overhead throw. This gave Bayne the opportunity to take over with repeated attacks in the corner, followed by a suplex right on the AEW logo in the middle of the ring. Bayne maintained command with a butterfly suplex, followed by a spear from the corner as we headed to a break in the action.

Collision returned with Cameron having made a brief comeback as she fought off Bayne up the top rope with a bite. When Penelope Ford tried to get involved, she got dropped by Cameron for her troubles. A spinning tornado DDT from Cameron nearly had the match won for her, but Bayne kicked out. Bayne blocked a Cameron suplex attempt before she delivered a Falcon Arrow for the two-count. Cameron escaped a Fate’s Descent attempt, but that couldn’t translate to anything substantial as Bayne dropped her with a sit-out powerbomb. That only got a near-fall, however.

Cameron blasted Bayne with a running knee, but her attempt at a dive was caught by Bayne, who then propped her up for Fate’s Descent and the victory.

Following the match, Cameron and Ford put in the beatdown on Cameron, up until Anna Jay ran in and hit Bayne with the two-by-four to no effect. Jay goaded Bayne to attack her, but that sent her flying out of the ring.

Quite the impressive showing for Harley Cameron, even in defeat. She continues to be a great talent that just gets better and better every time I see her in action. As for Megan Bayne, what else can be said? She is a dominant force and booked accordingly by AEW.

Jon Moxley speaks again

The AEW World Champion and Marina Shafir stormed the ring from the crowd, as Moxley took the mic. He asked just what exactly it was according to Samoa Joe that he didn’t understand, and wondered what it was that Joe was going to do inside the steel cage. Moxley said that he had faced the baddest competitors on the planet — all of whom were saying the same things that Joe were saying — and that they all ended up the same way.

Moxley said that Joe should look at his parntners and realize that they’ve been in a real firefight this whole time.

– After a recap of Roppongi Vice assaulting The Outrunners last week, we got remarks from The Youngest Men Alive backstage. Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd issued a challenge to Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta for a match.

Brody King versus Josh Alexander

Lock-up in the middle of the ring to start as King held the advantage early on to start. Alexander eventually tried to keep pace, but found himself hit hard with a King chop. In the corner, King teed off on Alexander with repeated strikes before referee Bryce Remsburg told him to back off. King placed Alexander across the top turnbuckle and chopped him hard.

On the apron, Alexander thought he had King stun, but he was caught with a Death Valley Driver onto the floor outside the ring. King threw Alexander over the barricade before he threw him for the suplex right on the floor. King had Alexander stunned as he sat him onto a chair against the barricade. He looked for a running charge, but Alexander wisely dropped to the floor, as he then kicked King’s leg against the steel steps. Alexander trapped King on the apron with a leg tied on the bottom rope as he followed that with a neckbreaker right onto the apron.

Collision returned to live action with King looking to deliver a high-risk maneuver from the top rope, but Alexander fought out of it. The Canadian had King lifted up, but couldn’t get anything as King escaped a grisly fate. A battle of chops saw King get the best of Alexander in the ensuing duel. Alexander put the straps down and had King rocked with repeated running boots to the head. Alexander again hoisted King and dropped him with an Argentine Powerbomb for the two count.

A big back body drop by King allowed for the big man to follow that up with a Black Hole Slam on Alexander for the near-fall. Alexander shoved King onto the ropes for a follow-up snap German suplex, but he got absolutely crushed by King’s lariat afterwards. With Alexander prone in the corner, King barreled onto his foe with a cannonball, but that only got a two-count once more.

With Alexander on the apron, King lifted him onto the top rope for an attempt at a titanic superplex that he got all of with maximum force. As both King and Alexander got up, we got a warning that one minute was left on this match. Alexander targeted King’s leg as he applied the ankle lock. King got on his feet somehow and hit a German suplex, followed by the lariat. King connected with the Ganso Bomb, but Alexander rolled out of the ring as time expired on the match.

After the match, as Lance Archer tended to Alexander, King flew onto the two with a dive. King placed Archer onto a chair, as well as some security men for the running dive against the barricade. Alexander clipped King’s leg, which allowed Archer to recover and lay out King.

Hell of a match and you can never go wrong with big meaty men slapping meat, and it was certainly on the menu in Atlantic City. Just nothing but hard-hitting action. What more can you ask for? The post-match with Lance Archer certainly guarantees we’ll be in for more meaty action in the near future.

Max Caster’s Best Wrestler Alive Challenge

Max Caster, the so-called Best Wrestler Alive, was in the ring as he asked for a five-minute timer to be up, so he can prove that nobody can survive five minutes in the ring with him. He then asked for the fans to do his chant correctly.

Daniel Garcia appeared to answer Caster’s challenge.

As the bell rang, Garcia had the early advantage as he dropped Caster with a swinging neckbreaker. He did his signature dance, followed by the shotgun dropkick and the piledriver for the quick win in under a minute.

After the match, Garcia said he just handled his business and told FTR to handle their business so he can talk to them afterwards.

Caster’s act is getting over quite well, to the point that he seemed to be struggling to hide his laughter as the crowd was doing his “Best Wrestler Alive” chant with him, so that’s nice to see.

– Backstage, Lexy Nair interviewed Anthony Bowens before Blake Christian rudely interrupted the interview. Christian claimed that while Bowens won when they faced, the people were talking about how Christian outshined Bowens in that encounter. Bowens challenged Christian and Lee Johnson to step up to him anytime, anywhere.

The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona) versus Ray Jazz and Goldy

Kaun held the advantage early on Jazz with a pair of suplexes before he tagged in Liona to get his pound of flesh. Goldy got sent to the outside with a fierce pounce from Liona. The Gates of Agony then put Jazz away in short order with a double slam.

After the match, the Cru were in the crowd and tried to get in, before Big Bill and Bryan Keith challenged Kaun and Liona to meet them in the parking lot for a fight.

– In the parking lot, Big Bill and Bryan Keith brawled it out with the Gates of Agony, as a hapless local competitor found himself in the crossfiire of Toa Liona and Big Bill’s brawl. The action cut away as the brawl seemed like it was far from over.

2/3 Falls Match: FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. Paragon (Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong)

O’Reilly and Wheeler started things off for their two teams as the latter escaped an omoplata attempt from the former. O’Reilly countered Wheeler into an armbar as Harwood entered the match for his team. In the corner, Strong was the legal man as he chopped Harwood with vicious force. This led to a skirmish of chops and strikes between Harwood and Strong, which ended with a dropkick by Strong and the tag to O’Reilly.

Wheeler tagged back in as FTR looked to have the upper hand on O’Reilly, but not for long. O’Reilly had Wheeler and Harwood dead to rights with a series of kicks to each men. FTR attempted the Shatter Machine on O’Reilly, but Strong broke it up. Strong took out Wheeler with a dropkick to the outside as O’Reilly locked in an ankle lock on Harwood. On Stokely Hathaway’s instruction, Wheeler tapped out to give Paragon the 1-0 lead, and a breather for FTR.

The action returned after a quick break with O’Reilly getting floored by a double clothesline from FTR. The diving elbow by Wheeler kept O’Reilly grounded as FTR held control of the match at this juncture. O’Reilly tried to create space by escaping Wheeler’s chinlock, and then avoiding a dropkick in the corner. Hot tag to Strong gave the Messiah of the Backbreaker a surge of momentum on both Wheeler and Harwood, which naturally made Adam Cole proud on commentary.

Outside the ring, both teams were fighting it out as Strong stacked Wheeler and Harwood onto a chair — which broke the chair — as O’Reilly then took flight with a Canadian missile dropkick onto both FTR members from the apron. The brawl entered into the crowd as Harwood threw O’Reilly onto the apron, which left Strong alone in the ring with FTR as we had our final commercial break of the evening at this point.

Our main event returned with O’Reilly having made it back to his corner and the tag being made. Like a blaze of fire, O’Reilly went on the attack against both Harwood and Wheeler. Ankle lock applied on Wheeler, but Harwood broke the hold. WIth Harwood tagged in, O’Reilly and Strong appeared to have him trapped for a double team move, but Wheeler stepped in at the last minute to shove O’Reilly away. This allowed FTR to deliver Shatter Machine on Strong for the 1, 2, 3, and the match tied.

With the action now in sudden death overtime, FTR attempted to hit the Shatter Machine again, but O’Reilly and Strong hit High and Low on Harwood. The cover was made, but Stokely put Harwood’s foot on the rope as things broke down. By match’s end, FTR would get the final fall with a rake to the eye of O’Reilly and the Shatter Machine.

After the match, Daniel Garcia walked down the ramp, armed with a crowbar and a microphone, to confront FTR as promised. Garcia said that there’s nothing more that he’d like to do but hit the three of them with a crowbar, but he has too much love for FTR to do that. He said that after what FTR did to Cope, Daddy Magic, and Garcia himself, he was looking for answers. Garcia challenged either one of Wheeler or Harwood to meet him in the ring next week, and that it didn’t matter if there was ten of them, fifteen of them, fifty of them, or one hundred of them, He was going to beat the answers out of them next week.

A very fun 2/3 Falls main event match to cap off another solid edition of Collision, which maintains its streak of being a breeze to watch from start to finish. The absolute war that was King vs. Alexander and this main event were the standouts of a great show that I enjoyed.
