TNA stars Joe Hendry, Frankie Kazarian appear in WWE NXT battle royal

TNA stars made their mark on NXT.

Tuesday’s show opened with Joe Hendry making his NXT debut, cutting a promo saying he would take the NXT title back to TNA. However, he was among the first eliminated by none other than fellow TNA star Frankie Kazarian, who made it to nearly the end of the match before being eliminated by eventual winner Je’Von Evans. With the win, Evans will now challenge Trick Williams for the title at Heatwave on July 7.

Backstage, Hendry was upset about his loss, complaining to Shawn Michaels. He said he would appear anywhere at any time on any show.

In recent weeks, TNA stars have been making appearances on NXT programing. TNA Knockouts champion Jordynne Grace defeated Stevie Turner on a recent episode of NXT before losing to Roxanne Perez at Battleground in a match that had been for Perez’s title. Grace lost thanks to a distraction from Tatum Paxley, who attempted to sneak away with Grace’s Knockouts title before Ash by Elegance, the former Dana Brooke, argued with Paxley in the aisle.

This past weekend, Paxley accepted the open challenge for Grace’s Knockouts title in a losing effort at TNA’s Against All Odds event.

Tag team match added to TNA Under Siege

A new match has been added to the lineup for TNA Under Siege.

Josh Alexander & Eric Young vs. Frankie Kazarian & Steve Maclin has been announced for Friday’s show on TNA+.

It will be Young’s first match since needing to have his ear re-attached after TNA Rebellion. Young took a Flux Capacitor from Kazarian through a table and began bleeding heavily from the side of his head afterward. TNA would update fans on Young’s condition the following day.

“Eric Young suffered a severe laceration to his ear. He did see a local plastic surgeon who helped to attach the severed ear. He is no longer medically cleared to wrestle,” Gia Miller said

Six matches are now confirmed for Under Siege. The event will take place at the Albany Armory in Albany, New York.

TNA Under Siege announced lineup for May 3, 2024 —

  • Moose, Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards vs. Matt Hardy, Mike Bailey & Trent Seven
  • Knockouts World Champions Jody Threat & Dani Luna defend against Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich
  • X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali defends against Ace Austin or Trey Miguel
  • Hammerstone vs. Jake Something
  • Jordynne Grace & PCO vs. Steph De Lander & Kon
  • Josh Alexander & Eric Young vs. Frankie Kazarian & Steve Maclin

Mustafa Ali X-Division title defense part of new additions to TNA Rebellion

Two new matches have been added to next month’s TNA Rebellion pay-per-view including an X-Division title defense and a Full Metal Mayhem match.

After winning a six-man scramble match called the Rebellion Referendum on Thursday’s Impact, Jake Something earned the right to challenge current champion Mustafa Ali at the Saturday, April 20th event.

Something outlasted Leon Slater, Chris Bey, Alan Angels, Jason Hotch and Kevin Knight by pinning Hotch following his Into the Void finisher — a victory that Ali didn’t seem thrilled by.

Something will be in search of his first TNA title of any kind while Ali will be looking for the second defense of the title he won at February’s No Surrender. This will be their first-ever time in the ring together.

**********

TNA originals turned rivals Eric Young and Frankie Kazarian will do battle in a Full Metal Mayhem match on the PPV.

The two become at odds after teaming with another, leading to a match at No Surrender for a future title shot. Young picked up the win and went on to challenge TNA World Champion Moose at March’s Sacrifice, only for Kazarian to interfere and help cost him the match.

Young challenged Kazarian to the no DQ, no countout, TLC-esque bout on Thursday.

It will be the second-such match for both men and their second against each other. Kazarian competed alongside Christopher Daniels against Young and Joseph Park in a losing effort as part of the Hardcore Justice III One Night Only PPV special in December 2013.

Here’s the current card that is set for the Palms in Las Vegas:

  • TNA World Champion Moose defends against Nic Nemeth
  • X-Division Champion Mustafa Ali defends against Jake Something
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The System (Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers) defend against Speedball Mountain (Mike Bailey & Trent Seven)
  • Eric Young vs. Frankie Kazarian in a Full Metal Mayhem match

The Big Vinny V Show: TNA Impact with Mustafa Ali championship aftermath

It’s a weird episode of TNA Impact squeezed in between two PPVs.

What is the fallout after Mustafa Ali’s historic X Division Title win at No Surrender, and with a crowded field of challengers, what does the future hold for him at Sacrifice? And speaking of Sacrifce, Moose will defend the TNA championship against Eric Young, but it sure feels like Kazarian has been a bigger part of the show than either of them.

The Grizzled Young Veterans are conspicuous by their absence, IWGP Global Heavyweight champion Nic Nemeth is ready for Steve Maclin, and the Knockouts tag division is a complete disaster. All this and more on the Big Vinny V Show!

Mixed tag match set for Impact Wrestling episode 1000

A mixed tag team match between two married couples is set to go down at Impact 1000.

Impact Wrestling has announced that their 1000th episode will feature a tag match with Frankie Kazarian & Traci Brooks facing Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards. Brooks issued a challenge for the match after Alisha helped Eddie defeat Kazarian at Impact’s Emergence event. Brooks said she won’t be a nostalgia act returning to the ring — she’ll be a pissed off wife who is going to kick Alisha’s ass.

This will be the first time Brooks has wrestled since 2012.

Eddie defeated Kazarian in a Back to School match at Emergence this past weekend. It was taped at Killer Kowalski’s wrestling school in Massachusetts and was billed as a way for Kazarian and Eddie to finally settle their issues. Kazarian and Eddie were both trained by the late Kowalski.

After helping Eddie win the Back to School match, Alisha attacked Kazarian with a kendo stick.

Impact’s 1000th episode is being filmed at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York on Saturday, September 9. Here’s what’s been announced for the show so far:

  • Team 3D (Bully Ray & D-Von) team together for the first time in seven years
  • Mixed tag team match: Frankie Kazarian & Traci Brooks vs. Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards
  • Ultimate X returns
  • Feast or Fired returns
  • The Beautiful People return
  • Awesome Kong returns

Back to School match added to Impact Wrestling Emergence

Eddie Edwards and Frankie Kazarian are heading back to where their careers began.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Edwards and Kazarian will face off in a Back to School match at Emergence this Sunday (August 27). The match is being filmed at Killer Kowalski’s wrestling school in Massachusetts. Both Edwards and Kazarian were trained by the late Kowalski.

During a segment on Impact last week, Edwards and Kazarian agreed to fight in the ring at Kowalski’s school. Kazarian tried to get Edwards to drop their feud and said they should go their separate ways. Kazarian said it’s what Kowalski would have wanted. Edwards responded by saying that Kowalski would have wanted them to settle their issues in the ring once and for all.

The segment took place one week after Kazarian accidentally struck Edwards’ wife Alisha with a kendo stick.

At Slammiversary last month, Edwards defeated Kazarian after using a kendo stick while the referee was out.

Emergence is airing live on Impact Plus, Impact’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service, and Fite TV. The rest of the show besides Edwards vs. Kazarian is taking place from the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Here’s the updated card:

  • Impact Knockouts Champion Trinity defends against Deonna Purrazzo
  • Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA, Chris Sabin & Josh Alexander vs. Bully Ray, Moose, Brian Myers & Lio Rush
  • Impact Tag Team Champions Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) defend against The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz)
  • SANADA vs. Jake Something
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions Masha Slamovich & Killer Kelly defend against Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans, The Death Dollz (Jessicka & Courtney Rush), and The Coven (KiLynn King & Taylor Wilde)
  • Digital Media Champion Kenny King defends against Johnny Swinger
  • Back to School match: Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian

Seven-way scramble set for Impact x NJPW Multiverse United 2

The pay-per-view is set for Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena on August 20th.

The participants include former Impact X-Division Champions Chris Sabin, Frankie Kazarian and Rich Swann in addition to Kevin Knight, BUSHI, Mao, and El Desperado.

That was the only new addition to the card announced Thursday. Deonna Purrazzo is expected to wrestle on the show against a Stardom talent as she recently called out the company to send their best to Philadelphia.

This is the second such co-promoted Impact/NJPW event.

Frankie Kazarian vs. Eddie Edwards III set for Impact Slammiversary

The trilogy match between former Impact World Champion Eddie Edwards and former X-Division Champion Frankie Kazarian will take place at next Saturday’s Impact Slammiversary.

The pay-per-view is scheduled for Saturday, July 15th in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Kazarian won their first-ever clash at last month’s Against All Odds, followed by Edwards getting the win on Thursday’s Impact on AXS, partially thanks to Alisha Edwards’ interference.

Later, Kazarian showed his frustrations and issued a challenge for the PPV, adding that his wife, former Impact star Traci Brooks, would make her return to even the odds.

She returned at last year’s Slammiversary by Kazarian’s side in a 10-man tag team match and even got physical with Maria Kanellis-Bennett.

Here’s the current card:

  • Impact World Champion Alex Shelley defends against Nick Aldis
  • Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo defends against Trinity
  • X-Division Champion Chris Sabin defends against Lio Rush
  • Impact Tag Team Champions ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin) defend against Sami Callihan & Rich Swann, Brian Myers & Moose, and Subculture (Flash Morgan Webster & Mark Andrews) in a four-way match

  • Steve Maclin & Bully Ray vs. PCO & Scott D’Amore with former NHL player Darren McCarty as special enforcer

  • Pre-show: Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry defends against Kenny King

Frankie Kazarian: What I like about wrestling ‘wasn’t happening in AEW’

Frankie Kazarian has commented on his decision to leave AEW earlier this year.

Kazarian left the promotion in January and has since signed a multi-year deal with Impact Wrestling.

The 45-year-old appeared on The Kurt Angle Show recently and said that AEW doesn’t present wrestling the way he likes it to be, and this factored into his decision to leave.

Kazarian said:

I still had two years left on my contract when I left. I made the decision to leave. I still had two years left, I probably could have been there much longer. I re-signed at the end of 2021 and hindsight being what it is, I probably shouldn’t have but again, AEW, I was there since before day one. I was there when this was a germ of an idea. I was there discussing this company when they didn’t even have initials attached to it. In these rooms with Cody and the Bucks and Page and Sky and CD.

So again, I was committed, I want to try to ride this thing out.

It just became apparent to me that what I like and what I appreciate about pro wrestling and the way I like it presented was not happening at AEW and that’s not an indictment at them. It’s just what they perceive as good television wrestling and what I do are different things. And just the business model, everything. Again, it was one of those things, I feel that I have so much more to offer than what I was being utilized for at AEW. So I bet on myself and I made the decision to walk away and I’m very thankful I did. It’s by far the best decision I could have made.

Kazarian along with Scorpio Sky was an inaugural holder of the AEW Tag Team Championships. They defeated The Lucha Bros in the finals of an eight-team tournament to win the belts. In Impact, Kazarian is a five-time X-Division Champion and three-time Impact Tag Team Champion (twice with Christopher Daniels and once with Eric Young). Additionally, in 2012 his team with Daniels was voted Tag Team of the Year in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards. Kazarian is also a two-time PWG World Champion, three-time ROH Tag Team Champion (twice with Daniels, once with Sky) and a one-time ROH Six Man Tag Team Champion as part of SCU.

Three matches added to Impact Against All Odds

Three new matches were announced Thursday for next Friday’s Impact Against All Odds.

The Impact Plus streaming special is set for Friday, June 9th from Columbus, Ohio.

After agreeing to a match for the Knockouts title at July’s Slammiversary, champion Deonna Purrazzo will team with Trinity against Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans. Shaw and Evans jumped Purrazzo and Trinity Thursday after Trinity’s win over Evans to set things in motion.

In a rematch from last month’s Under Siege, Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry will defend against Dirty Dango.

For the first time ever in a singles match, Eddie Edwards will take on Frankie Kazarian. This was also made Thursday after Edwards refused to shake Yuya Uemura’s hand after a win. After Edwards and his wife, Alisha, attempted to take him out, Kazarian left both laying.

Here’s the current card with one week to go:

  • Impact World Champion Steve Maclin defends against Alex Shelley
  • 8-4-1 match for Impact World title shot: Nick Aldis, Bully Ray, Jonathan Gresham, Heath, Moose, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Rich Swann, and PCO
  • X-Division Champion Trey Miguel defends against Chris Sabin
  • Masha Slamovich vs. Killer Kelly in a dog collar match
  • Impact Tag Team Champions ABC (Chris Bey & Ace Austin) defend against The Good Hands (John Skyler & Jason Hotch)
  • Deonna Purrazzo & Trinity vs. Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Frankie Kazarian
  • Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry defends against Dirty Dango

Two matches announced for next week’s Impact Wrestling

Ahead of his title defense at Under Siege, X-Division Champion Trey Miguel will face Laredo Kid in a non-title bout on next Thursday’s Impact on AXS TV.

Miguel will defend against Chris Sabin on the late-May streaming special, but will have to deal with Kid who is on the comeback trail after missing considerable time due to recovery from surgery on ruptured intestines. He picked up a win over Jack Price in his return to Impact.

In a trios match that will preview a key match at Under Siege, Moose, Eddie Edwards & Frankie Kazarian will team up against Alex Shelley, Jonathan Gresham & Yuya Uemura.

All six men will square off in a number one contender’s match for a future Impact World title shot at Under Siege.

Here’s the current lineup with more likely to be announced:

  • Moose, Eddie Edwards & Frankie Kazarian vs. Alex Shelley, Jonathan Gresham & Yuya Uemura
  • X-Division Champion Trey Miguel vs. Laredo Kid in a non-title match
