Week two of Great American Bash begins with a recap of the first week. Highlights from last Tuesday showed results of the top matches and angles.

Opening the show is men’s singles match from a sound stage at the Performance Center, and NXT is taped in front of a live studio audience. The top star of the NXT brand, Trick Williams, is set for a singles match against Pete Dunne, who is a main roster wrestler with a previous history in NXT.

Pete Dunne defeated Trick Williams

Dunne pinned Williams clean in a really good match. As a pure wrestling match, this was one of Trick’s best. He drops the fall, which could easily lead to a return match.

Williams overpowers Dunne early on, until Dunne takes him down. Dunne goes to work with joint locks. Ground and pound and a triangle applied by Dunne, but Trick powers out with a dead lift into a powerbomb. They go on to trade stiff chops like this was Ronnie Garvin against Greg Valentine.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. The show goes into the break after Tricks counters a springboard into a neckbreaker. During the break, they spilled out onto ringside, where Dunne stomps Trick’s hand on the ring steps. Dunne is working over Trick as the show returns from the break.

Comeback by Trick. He does a kip up as he fires up. Dunne tries to counter, only for Dunne to take a Rock Bottom. Nevertheless, Dunne is eventually able to counter Trick. Dunne drops Trick with a kick, and Dunne climbs the ropes. Trick cuts off Dunne, and Dunne takes an avalanche flapjack off the top turnbuckle.

They trade strikes and kicks, and Trick gets a near fall after delivering a pump kick. Dunne comes back with some fire, and Dunne viciously stomps on Trick. Trick does another kip up, this time while in a test of strength with Dunne. Trick fires up, but Dunne has yet another counter for Trick.

Dunne snaps the fingers, and Trick sells at first. Trick then snaps, and he hulks up. Blinded by rage, Trick misses a jumping knee strike into a corner. Dunne capitalizes with the Bitter End, and Dunne floats over into a pin on Trick.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger are hosting a barbecue in a skit. Lexis King messes around and finds out, as he is kicked out of the BBQ. Robert Stone and Stevie Turner then sit down to have an eating contest. To be continued…

NXT Champion Ethan Page is in the trainer’s room, and he has word with one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, Nathan Frazier. They exchange barbs.

NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan vs. Tatum Paxley to retain the title

Jordan pinned Paxley after a frog splash. Jordan sold her knee for much of the match, but she fought through the adversity. Good character development for Jordan, and her next title program is seemingly set up with an angle after the match involving Wendy Choo.

They each showcased their acrobatics early on in the match. The studio audience starts dueling chants at one point. Jordan with a corkscrew plancha to the floor. Paxley crawls underneath the ring. Jordan looks under the ring, only to fund a voodoo doll of herself. Paxley then ambushes Jordan with a chop block.

The title bout goes through a split-screen break. Paxley works over Jordan’s knee during the break. Rally by Jordan as the show returns from the break. Double down, and out comes zombie Wendy Choo.

The match goes on, and Jordan goes for a handspring into the ropes. Her knee buckles, and Jordan crumples to the mat. Paxley tries to capitalize, but Jordan has counters. Jordan recovers, and she goes for a split-legged moonsault. No water in the pool, as Paxley rolled away. Paxley then climbs the ropes and does a 450 splash for a close near fall.

The bout continues and they fight on top of the turnbuckles, setting up a Spanish Fly. Jordan then pulls herself onto the top rope with one leg. Jordan then leaps off into a frog splash, and Jordan covers Paxley for a pinfall. Wendo Choo lays out Paxley after the match, and she glares at Jordan with a zombie stare.

Wren Sinclair is once again blackmailing Charlie Dempsey, and Dempsey agrees to allow Sinclair into his faction if she wins her next match.

Nathan Frazier is getting worried his tag partner Axiom is going to no-show, when in walks Axiom. The tag champs then go off to talk strategy, although Frazier is clearly irritated with Axiom.

Pete Dunne is cutting a promo when he is jumped by Trick Williams. They have a pull-apart brawl, so there is clearly a return match in their future.

NXT Champion Ethan Page defeated Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) to retain the title

Page pinned Mensah to win the match and retain his title. Page worked hard, but this was basically The Oro Mensah Show.

Quick pace at the start. The beginning was much more PWG than WWE, until the show cuts to a commercial break. The pace slows, but the pace quickens again when the show returns from the break. Mensah goes for a lionsault, and Page cuts him down with a drop kick. That nets Page a near fall.

Mensah sells his back, playing up a spot during the break. Nonetheless, Mensah fight back. Mensah pops Booker T on commentary, as Book shouts “WOW” after Mensah delivers a Booker T-style scissors kick. Near fall for Mensah.

They tease a superplex spot. That was smokescreen transition for the match to go outside the ring, as Mensah boots Page off the apron. Mensah sails through the ropes with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, another near fall for Mensah. Missile dropkick by Mensah, and Mensah follows up with a wrecking ball dropkick.

They fight around the set onto a gimmicked picnic area. Page slams Mensah on a picnic table. Page follows that by giving Mensah a Razor’s Edge on the table. Page drags Mensah back to the ring to give him a DDT, yet Mensah kicks out for a near fall. Mensah gets several more near falls, leading into Mensah delivering a spinning heel kick. Mensah connects and goes for a cover. The referee holds up his count, as Page’s left leg is under the bottom rope.

Mensah slips on the ropes going for a springboard. Crash and burn. Page boots Mensah in the face, and Page executes the Ego’s Edge (Razor’s Edge). Page then covers Mensah for a three count, and Page retains the title.

After the match, Page breaks the fourth wall while cutting a promo, as he looks directly into a camera. Page says this is no longer NXT. He exclaims, “It’s N-X-MEEEEEE!”

The Rascalz are interviewed ahead of MSK’s title match later tonight where they challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, and a frat bro in a romper is put through a table. Lola Vice punches the bro in the gut for making a sexist remarks. Sola Ruca and Jaida Parker then put the bro through the a table with a double team powerbomb.

Joe Hendry defeated Joe Coffey (with Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)

Hendry pinned Coffey to win the match. Hendry was over huge with the studio audience. Before the bell sounds to start the match, Hendry leaps over the ropes for a dive on Mark Coffey and Wolfgang. Crowd chants “we believe” as Hendry is running wild. He is soon cut off by Coffey.

Hendry fights back, and he steps out of harm’s way when Coffey springboards off the middle rope. Coffey lands with a thud. They wrestle on. Coffey is clotheslined out of the ring as the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Hendry is being worked over when the show returns from the break. Wolfgang and Mark Coffey pull Hendry out of the ring to attack him. Hendry fights them off, and does an Eddie Guerrero spot. Hendry toss a chair to Wolfgang, and Hendry takes a phantom bump on the announce desk. The ref spots Wolfgang with the chair, and the ref ejects Gallus from ringside.

A rally for Hendry as he plays to the crowd. They eat it up. Hendry delivers a chokeslam, and Hendry covers Coffey for a three count.

In a post-match interview, Hendry says he likes it in NXT. Hendry says he might stay a while longer, and a lot of people in the locker room have a problem. Hendry says they can meet him next Tuesday. No need to even speak his name, Hendry vows to appear.

At Chase University, Ridge Holland announces in class he has a tag team title match booked for Chase U. Duke Hudson pops, but his bubble is soon burst as Holland informs him he challengers for the titles will be Holland and Andre Chase.

The Hank & Tank BBQ continues, with Shawn Spears again trying to get inside the head of Brooks Jensen. The Good Brothers show up the BBQ, and they insult Hank & Tank. That led to a brawl, and it also appears to set up a tag team grudge match between the two teams.

Wren Sinclair (with Charlie Dempsey & Myles Borne) defeated Kendal Gray (with Carlee Bright)

Sinclair won via pinfall, and in winning, Sinclair earns a spot in No Quarter Catch Crew. Dempsey teased cheating on behalf of Sinclair, but he thought better of it. Sinclair won after delivering headlock DDT. Sinclair is beginning to begrudgingly respect Sinclair’s in-ring ability.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a video package. It focuses on Matt Bloom being his coach in NXT.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazier & Axiom defeated Wes Lee & Zachary Wentz (with Trey Miguel) to retain the titles

Fast-paced action and high spots galore, as one might expect with these guys. It made for an exciting bout. Big angle after the match with Wes Lee turning on The Rascalz. Really good match, and a great angle afterwards.

The match goes through a commercial break. The champs each do a dive, and they pose with their title belts as the show cuts to the break.

There were some really cool spots in this match. Hard for me to do them any justice on paper, but the crowd was super into the action. They build to stereo hot tags, and the fast paced action continued. Lots of double team and tandem spots.

Axiom & Frazier do their stereo finisher combo (Spanish Fly by Axiom and a Phoenix Splash by Frazier), but the subsequent pinning attempt is broken up.

Playing on the dissension within their team, Axiom mistakenly superkicks Frazier. Wentz capitalizes by springboarding into a cutter. Frazier kicks out for a close near fall, and the crowd goes wild. Wes Lee tags in, and a moment later he is going for cover. Axiom jumps in to break up the pin.

Just before going home, Frazier executes a superplex on Lee. Frazier floats over and lifts Lee into a vertical suplex. Axiom comes in to deliver a kick, as he and Frazier do a version of reDRagon’s old finisher, called Chasing the Dragon. Lee kicks out for yet another close near fall. Frazier then hold Lee so Axiom can hit the Golden Ratio. Axiom then covers Lee for the deciding pinfall.

Wes Lee is broken after the match, as he is helped to his feet by Wentz and Trey Miguel. Lee is told by Wentz they will get another title shot again. Miguel is in tears over the loss. Suddenly, Lee superkicks Miguel, and Miguel is laid out.

Wentz screams at Lee, as Wentz is in disbelief. Lee then attacks Wentz, giving him a low blow. Lee stands over Wentz, and Lee screams at Wentz that they left him alone. Lee punches Wentz several times, and Wentz is kicked out of the ring.

On the floor, Lee sents Miguel crashing through a barricade at ringside. Lee then delivers a running knee strike that sandwiches Wentz in the ring steps. Lee then leaves. He stops briefly to turn back and look at his carnage, as the show fades to black.

Ethan Page crowned NXT Champion at Heatwave

Ethan Page is the new NXT Champion.

Page pinned Je’Von Evans in a fatal four-way match that took place in the main event of NXT Heatwave. The finish of the match had champion Trick Williams strike Je’Von Evans with the trick shot, then followed it up with another trick shot to Ethan Page, who fell on top of Evans. Shawn Spears dragged Williams out of the ring as the referee counted to three, giving Page the win.

This ends Trick Williams’ run with the NXT Championship. He held it for 75 days, defeating Ilja Dragunov for the title on the first night of NXT Spring Breakin’ on April 23.

The main event of Heatwave was originally set to be Williams defending the title against Evans, who won a battle royal. However, Page defeated Evans in a singles match on the sme night after he successfully argued to NXT GM Ava that since Oro Mensah distracted him, he was never eliminated in the battle royal that Evans won. After Williams was pinned by Spears on the following episode of NXT, Ava made the decision to turn the Heatwave main event into a four-way.

Ethan Page: AEW was ‘so chaotic and unorganized’ compared to WWE NXT

Ethan Page is happy with the organized atmosphere of his new pro wrestling home.

Page arrived in WWE NXT by making his debut on the May 28 episode of the show. While appearing on Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson’s Talk’n Shop podcast, Page was asked how it felt to debut for WWE. Page described the company as a machine, saying it’s much different than the “chaotic and unorganized” environment he felt existed in AEW.

“Pretty crazy. I went from somewhere that was so chaotic and unorganized to a place that — I mean I’m still learning because I’m still so new here, but, it’s just like, this is a machine and it’s incredible,” Page said. “It feels good to not feel like I have to do everything myself or like — to have people that want to see me succeed is kind of mind-blowing.”

Being in WWE was always a dream for Page. He listed Randy Savage, The Rock, Billy Gunn, and Razor Ramon as some of his favorite wrestlers to watch growing up.

Page departed AEW/ROH this May and reportedly wanted to leave as early as February. He opened up to Talk’n Shop about why he made the decision to depart AEW.

“It was definitely time to leave,” Page said. “My thought was — I could sit in catering for the next three years and my career would end, or I try and do something before my career ends [laughs]. And here we are.”

Page said that, after leaving AEW, he got a random phone call on a layover where he was offered his NXT deal. He didn’t believe the call at first until he got a follow-up call right after.

Since debuting, Page has been involved in the NXT Championship mix. Trick Williams is defending the title against Page, Je’Von Evans, and Shawn Spears in a fatal four-way match at NXT Heatwave this Sunday (July 7).

WWE NXT live results: Heatwave contract signing

Tonight’s episode of WWE NXT is the go-home show before Heatwave.

At Sunday’s event, Trick Williams will defend his NXT Championship in a fatal four-way match against Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears. They’ll be in the same ring tonight when they take part in a contract signing.

Also tonight is a segment with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez going face-to-face with her challenger, Lola Vice, ahead of their title match at Heatwave.

Heatwave is taking place in Toronto during WWE Money in the Bank weekend. Scotiabank Arena is hosting Money in the Bank on Saturday and Heatwave on Sunday.

To kick off tonight’s action, Michin goes one-on-one with Jaida Parker in a street fight. Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Wendy Choo vs. Carlee Bright, and Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe vs. Gallus have also been announced for the episode.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Opening the show is a street fight to settle a grudge weeks in the making.

Jaida Parker defeated Michin in a street fight

Parker pinned Michin in one helluva street fight. Weapons came into play from the outset. Metal chairs, trash cans, tables and kendo sticks and such are littered around the ring. Michin also used a loaded sock as a weapon, swinging it around as a weapon. She also used her own belt to whip Parker.

Three chairs are set up at ringside, and Michin goes for a tope with Parker laid out on the chairs. Parker moves, and Michin crashes and burns on a chair. “Holy s***” chants are bleeped out on USA Network. Parker then goes for a hip attack. Michin’s turn to move out of the way, and Parker crashes into the barricade in a stunt where the barricade broke. From there the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break as the street fight continues.

More plunder after the break with more weapons coming into play. Parker is fish hooking Michin with a claw hammer as the show returns from commercials. Michin fights, and she piles some chairs together. Michin then dumps nuts and bolts on the chairs, and she teases a package piledriver. Parker counters, and Michin is backdropped on the pile of her own creation. Near fall for Parker, as Michin manages to kick out.

Parker is stuffed into a trash can, and Michin does a cannonball senton into a corner to sandwich Parker for another near fall. Parker sprays Michin with a fire extinguisher, and Parker deliver a hip attack that sends her and Michin crashing through a gimmicked wall. They crash through the wall, and the live studio audience chants “holy s***” again. “N-X-T” chants also ring out.

Parker drags Michin from the rubble and rolls her back into the ring. Parker then runs the ropes and delivers a final hip attack, dubbed the “Hip-notic” by announcer Vic Joseph. Parker then covers Michin for a three count.

A locker room skit seems to set up a match between Karmen Petrovic and Jazmyn Nyz. Petrovic was trying to cheer up a melancholy Arianna Grace, who still manages to insult Petrovic by insisting she is more Canadian than her. In walks Jacy Jayne and Nyz, who mock and bully the Petrovic and Grace. Petrovic steps up and issues a challenge to Nyz. The heels laugh and leave.

Je’Von Evans is the focus of a vignette that highlights him and his recent success in NXT. Good piece of character development with this video package.

In another good video package, NXT Women’s North American Champion Kelani Jordan is featured as part of hype for her defending her title against Sol Ruca on Sunday.

New Catch Republic (Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne) defeated Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Bate pinned Ledger to win the match. No heel-babyface dynamic here in this tag bout, just hard nosed wrestling.

Hank & Tank now have matching gear, but it makes them look like Public Enemy as they are wearing jerseys. Regardless, Hank & Tank continue to improve greatly. They also have really good chemistry together. Their opponents, New Catch Republic, were good as usual.

The tag match goes through a commercial break. Hot tag to Hank, and he cleans house. Hank rips off his jersey like he is Jerry Lawler pulling down the strap. Dunne counters to catch Hank in a triangle. Hank powers out and deadlifts Dunne for a Doomsday Device of sorts, here Tank leaps off the ropes to drop an flying elbow as Hank.

Bate runs wild on after a hot tag, until he goes for a tope con giro. Hank & Tank both catch Bate on an attempted flip dive, and they powerbomb Bate on top of Dunne. Hank & Tank then in unison bounce off the ropes and send Bate and Dunne off the apron.

Dunne is double-teamed, and he kicks out for a close near fall. From there, they go home. Hank jumps off the top rope, and Dunne counters with a kick. Dunne goes on to snap the fingers of Tank, and Dunne runs across the ring and jumps off with a double stomp on Hank. Bate leaps off the top rope with a twisting tornillo senton on Tank. Bate then scores the deciding pinfall.

Shawn Spears is the focus of a vignette, where he vows to win the NXT Championship at Heatwave in the fatal four-way match.

Izzi Dame defeated Brinley Reece (with Malik Blade & Edris Enofe)

Tatum Paxley appears during the match to stalk Dame. Despite being creeped out by Paxley, Dame is still able to look rather dominate over Reece. Dame with a Falcon Arrow before she pinned Reece for a three count. Paxley gets into the ring after the match, being even more creepy. Dame flees, after being creeped out again.

Ridge Holland is asked to stay behind as the rest of Chase U go to Heatwave. Holland was apologetic for having tried to cheat in a recent match, but Andre Chase still decries that Holland cannot go with them on Sunday.

Face-to-face with NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez and Lola Vice

While the segment gets off to a rocky start, Vice saves the segment with an emotional promo about her journey to NXT. Roxanne enters the sound stage flanked by two security guards. They stand behind her as Perez addresses Vice.

Perez says that Vice is bigger name in just a few months of her being pushed on NXT than Vice was in Bellator. However, Perez says Vice is in a wrestling match on Sunday. That is Perez’s world.

Vice responds with basically her life story in combat sports. Through tears, Vice tells of how she trained for the Olympics. But Vice’s mom got sick, so Vice at 18 years old went into MMA to provide for her family. By 21, she was fighting in Madison Square Garden. Vice says her mom will be watching on Sunday, and Vice vows to win.

Perez mocks Vice, and Perez makes fun of her. Vice fights through more tears as she vows to show Perez why she is the greatest to crossover from MMA to WWE. Vice vows to become the first ever Cuban-American NXT Women’s champion.

Security goes to step between Vice and Perez, and Vice drops a security dude with spinning back fist. Vice then tells Perez that Vice might not be in her world. But when Vice knocks out Perez on Sunday, Perez will not know what world she is living in.

Ethan Page is the focus of a video packing, further hyping the main event of Heatwave.

Oro Mensah (with Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) defeated Myles Borne (with Charlie Dempsey, Tavion Heights & Damon Kemp)

Mensah pinned Borne, thanks in part in an inadvertent distraction caused by Damon Kemp. Before the match in a backstage skit, Kemp shows the group he was a pair of brass knux. Dempsey and company are not impressed. They are even less impressed after the finish.

The match itself goes through a commercial break, and the match was pretty good. Borne got to showcase his talents in the ring more so than ever before on NXT. He has an outstanding dropkick, and they were sure to highlight that with a spot in the match. Going through a commercial break, the match was quite lengthy.

For the finish, Kemp is trying to give the brass knux to Borne. That distracts Borne, and he is sitting duck for a Koppu kick from Mensah. Borne is then pinned by Mensah for a three count.

A hype video builds up the the North American title match on Sunday with Oba Femi defending against Wes Lee.

Like an old episode of TNA Impact, it’s TO THE BACK! Suddenly, there is a pull-apart brawl backstage between Gallus and the team of Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe. That would seem to set up a tag match.

Brinley Reece is usually super cheerful and positive, but she is finally broken. Sad about her match, she leaves to go work out as Blade & Enofe run after her.

The Good Brothers cut a quick promo threatening OTM.

Wendy Choo defeated Carlee Bright (with Kendal Gray)

Choo submitted Bright with a choke. Ever since she returned to NXT, Choo is now a zombie. In some ways she is basically doing The Undertaker gimmick, without the Western vibe of Undertaker. Choo is now a zombie after waking up from her sleep. It is very campy. Nevertheless, this bout is a showcase for Choo. She dominates Bright, and Choo applies a chokehold. Bright taps out, and Choo wins via submission.

Shawn Michaels voices over a video package telling the story of Brooks Jensen. Basically, Jensen is a loose cannon that has spiraled out of control. However, HBK says he believes in second chances. So, Jensen is invited to NXT next Tuesday for a sit-down with General Manager Ava. They will address Jensen’s future.

Jaxmyn Nyz defeated Karmen Petrovic

Nyz pinned Petrovic after a distraction by Jayne. Lame finish considering a match on the show already had a distraction finish.

Petrovic has a cool entrance with a sword. Too bad she lost again. At least Petrovic got to shine in the match. Jayne causes a distraction just before the finish. Pertrovic stomps on Jayne’s hands, but that still distracts Petrovic. Nyz delivers a leg lariat, and she covers Pertrovic for a pinfall.

Later in a skit set in Ava’s office, Petrovic is told she is booked in a tag match against Jayne & Nyz. Arianna Grace is revealed as Petrovic’s tag partner, much to he dismay of Petrovic.

More tension between the NXT Tag Team Champions, as Nathan Frazier is apparently more focused on his WWE Speed match tomorrow than the tag title match at Heatwave. Or at least that is what Axiom seems to think. Frazier insists he will be focused on the tag titles on Sunday.

Contract signing for the fatal four-way NXT Championship mach at Heatwave

Two tables are set up in the ring, with the challengers and champion seated around it. NXT Champion Trick Williams gets an actual entrance on television, why his challengers are already seated at the table when Williams enters.

Like many of these contract signing segments, there is some bickers. First up is Ethan Page bickering with Williams. They cut promos on each other.

Shawn Spears chimes in to cut promo on Williams. Spears tells Williams that his emotion will cost him at Heatwave. Spears insults everyone and finally gets around to insulting Je’Von Evans.

Spears mocks Evans because of his age, and Evans responds by cutting a promo on his own. He also gets some call-and-response from the studio audience. Evans flips the script on Spears as Evans mocks Spears for having not ever won a title in NXT.

Standing up, Spears walks over to Williams asking if he heard that. From there, things turn into a bickering contest on who can bicker the most. This is turning into a talking head segment on a cable news channel. Heaven help us.

Evans stands up to cut a promo. Halfway through his promo, Evans is attacked by Spears. Bedlam ensues and all hell breaks loose. Brawl in the ring as a melee is under way. In a stereo spot, Williams puts Page through a table while Evnas puts Spears through another table.

Williams and Evans are facing off in the ring as the show closes.

Heatwave fatal four-way contract signing set for WWE NXT

A contract signing has been added to this coming Tuesday’s NXT.

NXT Champion Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears will all meet in the ring on the last episode of NXT prior to Heatwave next Sunday. Williams will defend the title against all four men in a fatal four-way match.

Originally, Evans was set to get the title match after winning a battle royal. However, on that same show, Page defeated Evans and established himself as a contender for the title despite losing to Williams at NXT Battleground.

This past Tuesday saw Spears also enter the title picture by pinning Williams after Brooks Jensen ran in through the crowd. As he was being aprehended by security, Jensen accidently struck Williams with the announce desk cover, giving Spears the momentum needed to score the win. The wins by both Page and Spears caused Ava to change the match into a fatal four-way.

The announced card for the Tuesday, July 2 WWE NXT:

  • NXT Championship contract signing for Heatwave
  • Street fight: Michin vs. Jaida Parker
  • New Catch Republic’s Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger
  • Wendy Choo vs. Carlee Bright
  • NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez & Heatwave challenger Lola Vice face-to-face

NXT Championship fatal four-way, more title matches set for Heatwave

The NXT Championship match for Heatwave is now a four-way.

Shawn Spears defeated NXT Champion Trick Williams in the main event of Tuesday’s NXT. The end of the show saw Ava turn the scheduled Williams vs. Je’Von Evans title match for July 7 in Toronto into a four-way, adding Spears and Ethan Page, who defeated Evans on last week’s show.

The NXT Women’s Championship will also be on the line. After Roxanne Perez defeated Karmen Petrovic on Tuesday, she was laid out by Lola Vice, who was on commentary, and took Perez’s title. When Perez collected her title inside Ava’s office, the NXT General Manager confirmed the title match for Heatwave.

Two other number one contenders were crowned on Tuesday. Sol Ruca defeated Arianna Grace to earn a NXT Women’s North American title match. In the show opener, Chase U defeated New Catch Republic in a tag team turmoil match to earn a shot against champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom.

After Wes Lee defeated Joe Coffey, Oba Femi appeared in the crowd and officially confirmed their North American title match for next weekend.

  • NXT Championship: Trick Williams defends against Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans, and Shawn Spears
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Nathan Frazer & Axiom defends against Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)
  • NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi defends against Wes Lee
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez defends against Lola Vice
  • NXT Women’s North American Championship: Kelani Jordan defends against Sol Ruca

Cody Rhodes shares moment with former AEW wrestlers on WWE NXT

On WWE NXT last night, Cody Rhodes shared the screen with some former AEW colleagues.

Rhodes stopped by NXT for an appearance on the Battleground fallout edition of the show. He announced that, next week, there will be a 25-man battle royal to determine a new number one contender for NXT Champion Trick Williams. The winner challenges Williams at NXT Heatwave on Sunday, July 7.

Later in the night, Rhodes encountered fellow former AEW wrestlers Shawn Spears, Ethan Page, and Lexis King (Brian Pillman Jr.) in a backstage segment. Spears, Page, and King each stated their intention to win next week’s battle royal.

“Seems like you guys are…in a good place,” Rhodes said to them.

The list of battle royal participants has not been announced. Rhodes said that some of the entrants may be from “different locker rooms,” potentially teasing that TNA wrestlers could be involved. A collaboration between WWE and TNA saw Jordynne Grace, the TNA Knockouts Champion, compete at Battleground. She lost to NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez.

“You may know some of them, but some of them might be from different locker rooms,” Rhodes told Williams.

Williams defeated Page to retain the NXT Championship in the main event of Battleground.

Also on NXT last night, Rhodes presented a special gift to Jacy Jayne, giving her his old “Dashing” Cody Rhodes face mask. Jayne is recovering from a broken nose.

Rhodes will be defending his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles in an “I Quit” match at WWE Clash at the Castle in Scotland this Saturday.

WWE NXT Battleground live results: Ethan Page & Jordynne Grace challenge for championships

WWE NXT will debut from Las Vegas’ UFC Apex for tonight’s Battleground: an event that will see both Ethan Page and Jordynne Grace challenge for NXT titles.

After making his surprise on-screen debut two weeks ago, Page will attempt to dethrone reigning NXT Champion Trick Williams who is looking for his first title defense.

Grace, the reigning TNA Knockouts Champion, will challenge NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez in an effort to become a two-company champion. Perez is looking for her fourth title defense in her second reign.

The first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion will be crowned in a six-way ladder match between Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, Michin and Kelani Jordan.

Men’s North American Champion Oba Femi will defend against Wes Lee and Joe Coffey in a three-way while Nathan Frazer & Axiom will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against The O.C. (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson).

In an NXT Underground match, Shayna Baszler will battle Lola Vice.

*********

The show opened with Sexyy Red greeting the fans and proceeding to twerk until a video package for the event played.

Kelani Jordan defeated Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker and Michin in a ladder match to become the inaugural NXT Women’s North American Champion

Ruca and Parker entered, confident and ready to go. Michin followed suit and she was a crowd favorite; for as intimate a setting as this was, the fans popped for her. Henley emerged with a spotted fur coat. The crowd came alive for Legend, who entered in a stunning tiara while Jordan smiled her way to the ring.

Henley instantly targeted Ruca while Legend and Jordan battled. Outside, Michin and Parker played tug-of-war with a ladder. Parker not only lost, but also fell off of the commentary table. Ruca introduced a ladder into the match and then was joined by Jordan. However, both were hampered by Legend and Henley. Ruca and Jordan then took to the skies to incapacitate Parker and Legend.

After Parker was flattened after taking out Jordan and Legend with a ladder, Henley evened the field and attempted to climb a ladder but Parker, back on her feet, bounced on Jordan to rapturous applause. Legend was denied a climb herself by Michin. Jordan and Henley assisted, further hampering Lash as she tried to climb again.

Ruca sent Parker face-first into the ladder and Henley did the same, finding herself the only woman standing. Henley, Parker, and Jordan each grappled atop the ladders, but Legend swiftly sent them plummeting and was almost flipped off the ladder by Ruca.

Sensing the impending dominant threat of Legend, every woman present in the match pried her from the ladder and tossed her into a ladder on the outside. Every woman for herself and each competitor traded offense until the dust was settled.

After dispatching Michin with a split-legged moonsault, Jordan climbed the ladder and grabbed the title, celebrating cheerfully at the summit of the ladder.

This was a great showcase of what each woman brings to the table. In particular, the standouts of this ladder match were Michin, Ruca, and Jordan. This gave time to talented women and informed fans who could be the big workhorse players in the North American title scene as it stands currently.

NXT Tag Team Champions Nathan Frazer and Axiom defeated The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) to retain

Cocky and tall, Gallows and Anderson entered the ring, now heels after AJ Styles’s assault on Cody Rhodes during SmackDown the week before. The champions in Axiom and Frazer charged swiftly in their urgent entrance.

Frazer and Axiom took turns on Anderson, who initially put up a good defense, but had to give Gallows the hot tag. This giant readily handled Frazer and Axiom, giving “The Machine Gun” enough time to recuperate. Once he did, Anderson swung for the fences until he made the tag. Back in the ring, Gallows would fall victim to a quick DDT from Axiom. Anderson would play defense again, but Frazer proved too fast, almost having a nearfall pin on Anderson.

Gallows and Anderson let loose a Magic Killer on Frazer to another nearfall. The tough and gritty veterans weren’t as speedy as the champions, so they had to play any strategy in their playbook to bring out their strengths. They almost lost their chance for gold as Axiom nearly squeezed the almost purple Gallows to sleep.

Felling the looming Gallows on the outside, the champs worked in tandem as Axiom planted Anderson with a super Spanish Fly, punctuated perfectly by Frazer’s flip off the top rope for the pin and win.

Frazer and Axiom’s speed was their greatest asset, which made for exciting moments in the match. Anderson continued his career renaissance as an all-rounder, and Gallows worked as the heavy enforcer he’s been known as. There was no coasting and each team contrasted each other well in a fairly decent match.

– Josh Briggs, Carlee Bright, and Dante Chen vignettes played. Briggs was serious and nostalgic, Bright’s rich and vibrancy gave insight into her character, and Chen vowed to make his matches matter.

Lola Vice defeated Shayna Baszler in an NXT Underground match

Baszler made her way to the ring in her gi and black belt into the ring’s ropeless canvas, and Vice followed suit, also in her gi and black belt under a red robe. True to its GCW Bloodsport origin, the feeling of the Underground gimmick was exciting as talent surrounded the mat, pounding it like drums into the Las Vegas night. The crowd of fans beyond the barricade was into it, further amplified by the percussions of the talent surrounding the ring slapping their hands on the mat.

Baszler worked the limbs of Vice, sending agony coursing through her veins. There was no dancing out of this. Vice powered out, sending Baszler into the turnbuckle post, then transitioning the “Queen of Spades” into a tight hold. The life being choked out of her, Baszler propelled herself and Vice into the crowd of talent outside. With a breath of fresh air, she was on top of Vice, battering her aggressively on the commentary table. Baszler tried a running knee to Vice on the commentary table, but Vice eluded her and proceeded to work her knee. Bending and contorting her former partner’s knee, Lola took advantage of any shot she could put in.

Resilient, Baszler grappled back and forth with Vice. After an unsuccessful Kirafuda clutch, she went for the Big Knee first and then again before Vice sent her outside. Following a rampage on the crowd of people outside the ring, Baszler held Lola in an armbar on the ring apron, vicious and unrelenting. There was no room for surrender among those forged by mixed martial arts.

The vengeful Vice sent Baszler’s head landing nastily upon the steel steps which would cost the latter the match as she clumsily fell back into the ring. The referee then called for the bell before Vice could target her head further. As if this was the end of the film Footloose, Vice went back to dancing again as her music played.

In professional wrestling’s attempts to replicate the success and appeal of mixed martial arts, I’ve seen worse as far as this match goes. Putting two WWE talents in the Bloodsport setting of an Underground match added to the feeling. With more time and the right dance partners like tonight, this approach to MMA-based matches could work. The story of Vice putting the seriousness of the match before her dancing made for an interesting wrinkle to the bout.

WWE NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Wes Lee and Joe Coffey in a triple threat to retain

Lee entered the match with the vigor of a man who has to win something he never lost. Coffey came through with a focus on Femi’s belt. The champ himself walked to the ring with the well-deserved arrogance of a dominant title holder.

Lee and Coffey initiated a brief alliance to topple the mountain that is Femi, but he could not be deterred for long. Calculated and powerful, Oba ran from post to post, colliding with his challengers. A wall of resistance, Oba endured the offense by Lee and Coffey, but for only so long. He found a second wind and on the top turnbuckle, he launched Lee high in the air to a resounding thud.

Despite the temporary team-up with Les, it was interesting to note Coffey targeting Lee’s repaired back. His strategy so far of targeting a weakness for one opponent and the fatigue of another made for an interesting foil. Joe almost got an accidental pinfall, had it not been for Lee noticing it just in time.

Femi refused to stay down, trouncing Coffey and Lee with an unforgiving rage. He overcame the targeted assault from his foes. It took interference from Coffey’s teammates in Gallus to quell his momentum. While his cohorts were distracted by Lee kicking out of Coffey’s pin, Femi’s fire burned into furious anger, leveling the playing field. Lee took advantage, nearly gaining a pinfall, only for Gallus to break it up. Femi regained control, pounding Coffey into the mat with a power bomb, having had enough.

This was a fun triple threat. Femi was the powerhouse while Wes Lee was the high-flying heart and soul. Coffey contrasted this well with his cunning. Throughout the match, I was reminded of AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels at TNA’s Unbreakable 2005.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Jordynne Grace to retain

Undoubtedly excited by this historic opportunity, the Knockouts Champion grinned from ear to ear as she and her muscles awaited Perez. The UFC Apex crowd chanted “TNA! TNA! TNA!” to cement the moment. Perez reserved all emotions and her crimson-clad appearance reflected the bloodlust within to hold tight to her title.

Jordynne, adorned in white gear, was not afraid. She met every strike Perez could give with ease, highlighting the powerhouse that she is. Roxanne absorbed it like a sponge, relying on her speed and agility, combined with dirty tactics as evidenced by her targeting Grace’s eye. Knowing she had to not only fight this strong outside challenger, she fought the shadow of this moment itself.

Grace remained tenacious, despite the bruising and light bleeding from her right shoulder. Powering through pain, anger, and the tactics of “The Prodigy,” Jordynne held as much as she could take. The more Perez dealt, the more Grace found her resolve. With the strength in her worn body, she spun Perez around and slammed her on the mat below.

Perez, screaming, threw everything she had, only for Grace’s fighting spirit to parry it. When Perez stretched Grace’s arm to damage her shoulder, Grace refused to give in. It would take more than that to defeat her. Though they are different they are in style, both women are similar in how they were forged in professional wrestling at young ages.

As the match progressed, there was a change in scenery as the match began to take a technical approach with Grace escaping a Pop Rox. Outside, Tatum Paxley attempted to steal the TNA Knockouts Championship but was interrupted by Ash by Elegance (whom Vic Joseph nearly called Dana Brooke, her former WWE name).

Distracted, Grace laid out both interlopers before returning to Perez. This effort might have been the moment that cost Grace. With the momentum and acceleration of a slam, this was successfully transitioned at the last second into a Pop Rox for the win.

A crossover such as this doesn’t happen often and certainly doesn’t occur that often in WWE of all places, so it was pertinent that both women make this count. I’d say they did just that. Grace has put in a lot of effort that has aided in carrying Impact/TNA for the past few years of her career. Couple that with Perez’s long-running tenure as a wrestler since adolescence and a long future ahead of her, this was the type of match that was needed.

However, just like at a TNA Impact episode a few weeks ago, Grace’s earring was ripped out by Perez’s fishnets. Naturally, this type of match couldn’t allow for Grace to get the win so easily, and it seems that there’s another crossover match between WWE and TNA in the works, this time in TNA, likely with Paxley, Ash and Grace involved. Still, this was a blast.

– Wes Lee’s bitter backstage promo was interrupted by an assault from Gallus.

WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams defeated Ethan Page to retain

Since his shocking appearance on the May 28th episode of NXT, Page generated a lot of hype for his in-ring debut. Sporting his signature logos on his gear, Page felt right at home. It was as though he was made for WWE and NXT at this exact moment in the brand’s history. His theme song was an easy listen. Williams’s entrance was as catchy as ever with Booker T giving his usual fanfare. Despite the new kid in town being over, Williams’ charisma still warranted the “Whoop that Trick!” chants.

Page came out with a flurry of fists to the champ, eliciting boos from the crowd. “Ethan sucks!” chants ensued. Williams fought back, seeking to whoop the trick that is Page. There was an Attitude Era feel to this match. Featuring big spots and the spectacle of excess, this type of main event is bolstered by one megastar colliding with another, creating a supernova of an atmosphere.

Whipping each other into steel steps, slamming through the commentary table, and brawling in the ring, there was no shortage of high-octane action expected by huge personalities. The heart of Williams contrasted well with Page’s ruthlessness. As a byproduct of the carnage wrought in commentary table spots, Booker T’s headset was broken, leaving Vic Joseph the sole vocalist calling the action.

Page almost had the match won with a gnarly Ego’s Edge and an assault in the corner. Thanks to referee interference distracting Page to prevent a disqualification, Williams snuck in a win with a Trick Shot to successfully retain the NXT Championship.

While not the best NXT PLE main event, this match did what it needed to in presenting Page as a huge presence in NXT while giving Williams an impactful first defense of his title.

As a whole, NXT Battleground was a fine change of scenery. The UFC Apex made for a stark contrast to the Performance Center with better lighting and a different atmosphere that would leave UFC fans in familiar territory while presenting an independent wrestling aura.

Both North American Championship matches and the crossover of Perez vs. Grace were the high spots of the event. The NXT Underground match provided insight as to how WWE could better utilize the gimmick match with the MMA appeal they seek.

Trick Williams vs. Ethan Page NXT title match set for Battleground

The NXT Championship will be on the line this Sunday.

Ethan Page will challenge Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. After Page revealed part of the negotiations were that he’d get a title match if he signed, Williams urged General Manager Ava to sign the deal, seeking revenge for Page’s attack. Ava signed the contract, making the title match official for Sunday.

After Page made a surprise appearance last week by jumping Williams, this week’s NXT saw Ava attempt to sign Page, who wanted many extravagant demands for signing with the brand. Page made a point to have his contract signing in the ring, which led to Williams coming out to confront Page.

Here is the updated lineup for Battleground:

  • NXT Championship: Trick Williams defends against Ethan Page
  • NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi defends against Joe Coffey and Wes Lee
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez vs. Jordynne Grace

Ethan Page debuts, attacks Trick Williams on WWE NXT

Ethan Page has made his NXT debut.

After Trick Williams & Je’Von Evans defeated Gallus, Lash Legend entered the ring and asked Williams if he was behind the recent attacks on Noam Dar and Oro Mensah. Williams started to answer when the lights went out. When they came back on, Page jumped Williams from behind, crashing into Legend as she was sent to the floor. Page took a microphone and admitted to the attacks before laying out Williams with a running knee to the corner.

Earlier this month, Fightful Select reported that Page was no longer under AEW contract after his profile was removed from their website. He had been mostly used on ROH television in recent months. Fightful’s report said that Page had been looking to leave the company since February, which is also when he had his last match on ROH. His last AEW match was a loss to Kenny Omega in December 2023.

After Dar was attacked two weeks ago, Jakara Jackson and Oro Mensah felt that Williams was responsible. Legend said he wasn’t, but told Jackson she would talk to Williams after Mensah was attacked backstage on Tuesday’s show.

Ethan Page done with AEW & ROH, wanted to leave earlier this year

This story has been updated.

On Thursday, it was learned that Ethan Page’s profile was removed from the roster on AEW’s website with Fightful later reporting that he is no longer with either AEW or Ring of Honor.

The outlet also reported that Page had expressed a desire to leave as early as February of this year. As of now, it’s unclear what was the impetus for the request was.

Page joined AEW in 2021, signing with the company in March of that year and debuting in the Face of the Revolution ladder match at the Revolution pay-per-view.

A Canadian native, his most recent AEW match came in an early-December 2023 loss to Kenny Omega on Collision from Montreal.

Page has since wrestled for the ROH brand with his most recent bout taped on February 14 of this year in a victory over Anthony Henry.

In addition to his in-ring career, Page is the promoter of Canadian indie Alpha-1 Wrestling, which ran its first shows since 2021 in February and March of this year, with another event set for May 19.

Page announced last year that he had moved to the United States, and thanked AEW for helping him get his green card to establish permanent resident status in the US.

**********

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeated Anaya & Camaro Jackson

Dutch started with a running crossbody to Jackson. Vincent tagged in and clubbered on Jackson until Jackson hit a deadlift vertical suplex for a nearfall. Vincent came back with a back elbow to take control. The Righteous clubbered on Jackson until he got the knees up on a Vincent elbow. Anaya tagged in and shortly ran wild before Vincent sent Anaya into Jackson in the corner. The Righteous then hit Autumn Sunshine to score the win.

Nyla Rose defeated Laynie Luck

Rose got the quick win with the Beast Bomb. Rose talked trash to Athena to the camera as she was leaving.

Zak Knight defeated Aaron Solo

Solo got a jump start on this match, jumping Knight at the bell. Solo hit a dropkick that sent Knight to the apron, but Knight rebounded in and hit Solo with a lariat. Knight hit a stalling vertical suplex before hyping up the crowd. Knight went for a springboard before Solo knocked him down and laid in some strikes.

Solo clubbered on Knight, hitting a dropkick to cut off a potential comeback. Knight cut off Solo on the top rope and hit a stalling superplex. Knight won a forearm battle before hitting a falcon arrow for a nearfall. Solo moved out of the way of a swanton bomb and hit a hurricane kick. Solo hit a Lightning Spiral and a double stomp for a nearfall.

Solo slapped Knight around, firing Knight up. Knight hit a springboard Superman Punch and a Razor’s Edge into the corner before hitting the running forearm for the win.

We got a recap of the issues between Spanish Announce Project and Cole Karter & Griff Garrison.

Cole Karter & Griff Garrison (w/Maria) defeated Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

Garrison and Angelico started, with Angelico handling Garrison on the mat. Karter pulled Garrison out of the ring and allowed him to reset and take Angelico down with a hip toss. Karter tagged in and clubbered on Angelico, but Angelico held onto the ropes on Karter’s dropkick attempt.

Serpentico tagged in and ran wild, sending Karter and Garrison to the floor before hitting a dive. Maria ran distraction, allowing Garrison to send Serpentico into the stairs. Karter and Garrison held the advantage on Serpentico until Serpentico got to his corner and tagged in Angelico.

Angelico ran wild on both men, hitting a misdirection head kick on Garrison for a nearfall. Angelico locked on a leg lock on Garrison, but Garrison kicked him off into a cheap shot from Karter. We got a move train that ended with all four men down. Serpentico tagged in, and as Karter sent Angelico into the barricade, Serpentico hit a cutter on Garrison for a nearfall.

Maria tried to run distraction, but Serpentico avoided a charge from Garrison to score a nearfall. Maria distracted Serpentico again, allowing Garrison to take Serpentico down. Maria wanted them to hurt Serpentico more, but a miscommunication allowed Serpentico to score a roll-up for a nearfall. Eventually, Karter snatched the mask off of Serpentico, allowing Garrison to hit a discus elbow for the win. They stomped on both Serpentico and Angelico before leaving and celebrating.

Blake Christian & Willie Mack defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

The Outrunners shook each other’s hands instead of Christian and Mack’s. Christian outpaced Floyd to start before mocking the Outrunners pose. Christian took Floyd to the floor before hitting a Fosbury Flop. Magnum ran interference, allowing Floyd to hit a baseball slide to take him down.

Christian fought his way out of the corner and tagged in Mack. Mack hit a double-noggin knocker before hitting a standing moonsault for a nearfall. Christian cleared the ring, allowing Mack to hit a frog splash to score the win.

Diamante, Leila Grey & Taya Valkyrie (w/Johnny TV) defeated Kiera Hogan, Lady Frost & Trish Adora

Hogan started with Valkyrie, hitting a hip attack against the ropes. Hogan hit a step-up legdrop on Valkyrie for a nearfall, but Valkyrie eventually got a tag out to Grey. Adora locked Grey in an arm wringer until Frost came in with a lariat. Diamante tagged in and caught Frost with a forearm and a neckbreaker in the ropes for a nearfall.

Grey tagged in and hit a Slingblade before Valkyrie tagged in and hit a low dropkick. Adora and Grey tagged in, with Adora running wild. Adora hit a big boot and a senton for a nearfall that Diamante broke up. Diamante dragged Grey over to the corner and tagged herself in, landing kicks until Adora hit a kneeling German suplex for a nearfall. Valkyrie and Hogan went after each other, ending with Hogan hitting a dive to Valkyrie on the floor.

Diamante hit an Asai DDT on Adora for a nearfall as Frost knocked Grey to the floor. Frost hit a moonsault to Valkyrie and Johnny TV on the floor. Diamante reversed a powerslam into a Cross Rhodes on Adora to score the win.

Leyla Hirsch & Rachel Ellering were backstage with Lexy Nair. They put over how well they’ve gotten along, and believed the other would do well in the ROH Women’s TV Title tournament.

Lee Johnson & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) defeated Iron Savages (Boulder, Bronson & Jacked Jameson)

Bronson took down Johnson early, but Jameson took a dropkick when he tagged in. The Infantry made quick tags working on Jameson. Boulder tagged in and took out both of the Infantry before they sent Dean to the inappropriately named city for a nearfall. The Savages isolated Dean, but Dean eventually fought his way to the corner and got the tag out to Bravo.

Bravo ran wild on the Savages, hitting the Carlie Cutter on Bronson for a nearfall. Johnson and Jameson tagged in, with Johnson hitting a lifting reverse DDT for the win.

Red Velvet defeated Heather Reckless

Velvet got the quick win with a hurricane kick.

Nyla Rose was in the locker room throwing away Athena’s gear when Lexy Nair stopped her. Rose put over her accomplishments and the fact that she took out Athena a few weeks ago. Rose asserted herself as the new Minion Overlord and told both Nair and Billie Starkz to follow her lead. She told Nair to grab the camera while telling the cameraman to take her phone. She baited the cameraman onto a table before putting him through another table, then told Starkz to fall in line.

Billie Starkz defeated Tootie Lynn

Lynn got some chants from her hometown crowd. Starkz got the quick win with a Swanton Bomb.

Ethan Page defeated Kody Lane

Page sent Lane high into the sky with a back body drop, then caught Lane with a forearm. Lane caught Page with a dropkick, but Page caught a senton over the ropes with knees to the back. Page hit a big shoulder block, but Lane fought out of the Ego’s Edge to hit a dropkick. Page moved out of the way of a Lionsault, then hit the Ego’s Edge for the win.

ROH Board of Directors member Jerry Lynn was with Lexy Nair. Dalton Castle came in, banging on Johnny TV’s locker room door. Lynn held Castle back as Johnny TV came out of his locker room. He did a split, then got pulled out of the frame by Taya Valkyrie. We know this because Valkyrie poked her head out and called Castle a loser. This was all quite wacky.

Abadon defeated Robyn Renegade

Renegade talked trash to start, allowing Abadon to headbutt her. Abadon hit a kneeling Codebreaker for a nearfall. Renegade got to the apron and hit a boot to take Abadon down for a nearfall. Renegade avoided a corner charge and hit a facebuster into the turnbuckles for a nearfall. Abadon came back with a bite before firing up on Renegade.

Abadon hit a cutter for a nearfall. Renegade came back with Darkness Falls for a nearfall. Abadon rolled out of a chokeslam before hitting Black Dahlia for the win in their ROH debut.

Jack Cartwheel defeated Jon Cruz

Cartwheel did several cartwheels, leading to a cartwheel kick that sent Cruz from the apron to the floor. Cartwheel did a Space Flying Tiger Drop to the floor, but Cruz avoided a tumbleweed from the top rope and laid Cartwheel out with a lariat. Cruz proclaimed that there would be no more cartwheels, but Cartwheel took him down with a flagpole kick and a stalling elbow drop.

Cartwheel hit a Death Valley Driver and a corkscrew splash for a nearfall. Cruz ripped Cartwheel off the top rope and did a cartwheel of his own. Unfortunately, I missed the move that won the match due to the feed buffering, but Cartwheel won with some type of top rope splash.

Action Andretti defeated Anthony Henry

I don’t know who told Andretti about that water bottle spot, but they aren’t doing him favors. I sound like a broken record when it comes to both Workhorsemen, but Henry looked great here.

Henry took down Andretti with a boot, but Andretti came back with a headscissors. Andretti sent Henry to the floor, but Henry avoided a moonsault and hit an armbreaker off of the stairs. Henry worked on the arm and shoulder, benefiting as Andretti couldn’t complete an Irish Whip. Andretti hit a handspring that sent Henry to the floor before following him with a dive.

Andretti did his silly water bottle spot before firing up. Henry tried to lock on a sleeper, but Andretti fought out of it. Andretti went for a handspring elbow, but Henry caught him with a cross arm breaker. Henry hit a knee and an X-Plex for a nearfall. Andretti avoided a double stomp and hit a Spanish Fly for a nearfall.

Andretti went for a springboard, but Henry cut him off with a forearm. Henry locked on a shoulder-and-arm submission, but Andretti got to the ropes to break it. Andretti and Henry traded forearms and boots before Andretti hit a shotgun dropkick and a split-legged moonsault for the win.

Four Corner Survival Match – Rocky Romero defeated Slim J, Josh Woods (w/Mark Sterling), JD Drake

The big men Woods and Drake cleared the ring before trading forearms. They traded suplexes before they fought to the floor. Slim J and Romero hit dives to both men before trading chops of their own. Romero baited Slim J to the floor before going for a dive, where Woods caught Romero and hit an overhead throw onto the floor.

Slim J and Woods worked on Romero in the ring before Romero sent Woods into Slim J and got a rollup for a nearfall. Romero fought back on both men before Drake came in and hammered Woods and Slim J as well. Drake and Romero were left in the ring, where Romero hit a headscissors that sent Drake to the floor. Romero hit a dive to all three men to the floor.

Woods cut off Romero, hitting the GYT on him. Drake hit a cannonball to Woods and actually hit a moonsault for once, but Slim J cut him off with a splash. Slim J hit a step-up hurricane kick on Drake, but Romero caught Slim J with a Shiranui for the win.

ROH World Tag Team Title Proving Ground Match – The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) defeated Gravity & Gringo Loco

Taven started with Loco, as Ian Riccaboni talked about Taven’s history with CMLL. Loco hit a standing moonsault on Taven before tagging in Gravity, who took Taven down with a handspring armdrag. The challengers sent both Taven and Bennett to the floor before both men hit dives to the champions.

Bennett came back, hitting Loco with a Death Valley Driver on the ramp. Taven followed with Just The Tip before rolling him into the ring. Taven tried to pin him with his feet on the ropes, but referee Aubrey Edwards didn’t even count due to how blatant it was. Taven hit a rolling neckbreaker before Bennett clubbered on Loco. Taven went for a Lionsault, but Loco got his knees up and got a tag out to Gravity.

Gravity ran wild, taking both men down with armdrags and powerslams. Gravity hit a powerbomb out of a rollup on Bennett before Loco hit a step-up moonsault for a nearfall. Taven sent Gravity to the floor as Bennett caught Loco with a superkick. The Kingdom hit the Hail Mary for the win.
