AEW Dynamite live results: Parking lot fight

Dynamite opened with Jurassc Express in the ring for their match against FTR.

The Young Bucks entered and hit the referee with superkicks. The announcers pushed that the Bucks have a new edge to them since Hangman Page turned on them and speculated as to how much they might be fined for their actons.

The Bucks made their way to the back and threw a stack of bills at Tony Khan, paying their fine in advance.

The Bucks crossed paths with FTR as the AEW Tag champs prepared to enter for the opener. FTR mocked Matt and Nick.

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur previewed the rest of the show.

**********

To the back —

Alex Marvez approached a fallen Matt Hardy. Hardy was laid out selling his left knee. Private Party said they were about to talk strategy for their match with Hager and Jericho when they found Matt.

Jericho and Hager entered. They mocked Hardy and Jericho was carrying Floyd the baseball bat. The clear implication was that it was Jericho who attacked Hardy.

**********

Kenny Omega joined the commentary desk for the next match.

Schiavone said that Omega had been offered a chance to make the match a tag match but he refused. Omega said he’s a singles competitor now.

Hangman Page defeated Frankie Kazarian

This was another good match.

They opened with a striking exchange. They had a loud chop battle. Hangman hit a springboard clothesline and a plancha. Page was firmly in control before an ad break.

Kazarian worked Page over during the commercials, including hitting his leg slice in the ropes. Kazarian fought for a fisherman’s suplex forever but Page kept blocking. Kazarian finally hit the move for a two count.

Kazarian grabbed a front facelock. They traded clotheslines. Page blocked a swing DDT and hit a fall-away slam and a standing shooting star for a near fall.

**********

A video package played hyping the parking lot fight.

**********

MJF (w/Wardlow) defeated Shawn Dean

Dean had his left arm taped up. MJF used a thumb to the eye and a Salt of the Earth to win in seconds as Dean immediately tapped out.

**********

Wardlow continued beating down Dean after the match.

MJF cut a promo. He said he’s an honest man, unlike that cheater Jon Moxley. MJF demanded that Justin Roberts introduce him as the undefeated, undisputed, uncrowned champion of AEW.

MJF said to get any attention on Dynamite you have to be in a stable. He said there’s a new faction every week. He’s not wrong.

MJF said whether he picks a group to be a part of or not it doesn’t matter because he’s better than you and you know it.

**********

Taz broke down the offense of Ricky Starks.

**********

Eddie Kingston was in the ring with Penta and Fenix. Butcher and Blade paced around the ring while Kingston cut a promo.

Kingston said he never lost the Casino Battle Royale. He said his group isn’t a faction or a stable, they’re a family. He said after they fight, some families go to dinner. He said his family celebrates with violence.

Butcher and Blade pulled Griff Garrison and another jobber out of the crowd and beat them up.

Kingston told Blade it was time for him to get his house in order.

And the segment ended.

Kingston is a gifted promo. The inside baseball stuff about Blade and his wife is awful.

**********

Private Party entered.

The announcers used Private Party’s entrance time to announce that Jon Moxley and Lance Archer will be on opposite sides of a six-man tag next week and will be picking their partners tonight.

**********

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager defeated Private Party

This was more formulaic than the tag team opener but a good match. Much like the FTR match this was a case where the established veterans gave the young guys a ton before coming away with the win. Kassidy got at least two near falls on Jericho and Jericho bumped all over for him.

Quen and Kassidy hit tandem dives to start the match off hot.

Quen got cut off and worked over during a break. Hager hit some of his lumbering offense. Kassidy got a hot tag and Private Party hit Silly String on Hager for a near fall.

**********

NWA World Women’s Championship: Thunder Rosa defeated Ivelisse to retain the title

This was a back and forth match with very little flow to it. Just move, move, move, move, move.

Rosa’s offense looked good, Ivelisse’s did not.

They showed Hikaru Shida in the crowd watching the match.

Rosa hit a jumping clothesline and a meteora in the corner. Ivelisse hit a tiger driver.  Rosa used a crossface. Rosa blocked a springboard attack and hit a DVD.

Rosa used a tombstone for the pin.

**********

Diamante ran in after the match and attacked Rosa. Shida jumped the rail to make the save, then left the ring to Rosa to take a bow.

**********

Miro was bench pressing. He asked Kip Sabian to let him get in the ring and devour somebody.

Sabian said Miro has to throw him a bachelor party first. Miro promised the best bachelor party ever. Sabian and Miro fist bumped Penelope Ford.

**********

Jake Roberts and Lance Archer entered for a promo.

Archer pulled someone out of the crowd and beat him up.

Jake cut a creepy promo about being in bed with the Tasmanian devil.

Taz entered. Taz said he and Jake made a deal that Ricky Starks and Brian Cage will be Archer’s partners next week provided Cage gets the first shot at Archer when Archer wins Moxley’s title.

Moxley entered but got jumped by Cage and Starks. Will Hobbs made the save for Moxley with a steel chair.

Moxley put Hobbs over strongly on the mic. Moxley called on Darby Allin who he knew was watching at home to join his team next week.

Really good promo from Moxley. Hobbs looked great.

Parking lot fight: Best Friends defeated Santana & Ortiz

These guys beat the hell out of each other in a brutal, violent main event.

They hit each other with car hoods, a police baton, a sledgehammer, a door, a dustpan, a baseball bat, a board and a pipe.

Santana took two sentons while trapped under the hood of a car and bled. Taylor took a suplex and a splash on the roof of a car. Taylor suplexed Ortiz on a guardrail.

Ortiz hit Trent with a low blow and a powerbomb on a car roof as Santana and Ortiz doubled up on Trent. Trent got launched into the back window of a car and came up with his back all cut up.

Santana teased a pipe shot to Taylor. Orange Cassidy jumped out of a car trunk and hit an Orange Punch with a chain. Taylor hit a piledriver on the hood of a car on Santana.

Trent hit a crunchie on Ortiz through a plywood board and pinned him in the bed of a pickup truck.

Sue showed up in her van and drove the winning team away to close the show. Sue flipped the bird as she drove off.

AEW Dynamite live results: TNT title match, All Out fallout

Excalibur, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team.

**********

Schiavone opened the show by interviewing Chris Jericho and MJF as they arrived at the building. Jericho and MJF played fake nice with each other. Each told the other that they had been screwed at All Out and would be AEW Champion soon.

As they walked away, each called the other an idiot.

Funny.

**********

Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus (w/Marko Stunt) defeated Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix (w/Eddie Kingston, Butcher & Blade)

This was a good opener but maybe a notch below what you would expect from these teams.

Jungle Boy and Fenix began with a hot sequence. Jungle Boy hit a suicide dive. Jungle Boy tried to use Luchasaurus as a launch pad but slipped. The announcers cited the heat as the reason for the botch.

Jungle Boy got cut off and worked over. There were two separate heat segments on Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus got two hot tags and ran wild with chops and kicks both times.

Luchasaurus made a tag to Jungle Boy. Penta and Fenix hit their package driver/double stomp combo but Jungle Boy kicked out.

For the finish, Fenix came off the top with a flying attack. Jungle Boy moved out of the way and Fenix hit Penta. Jungle Boy rolled up Penta for the pin.

***********

They teased dissension within this group that has been together for a few weeks after the match. Penta and Fenix had to be pulled apart.

Kingston cut a strong promo and said he’s there for them, they’re his best friends and they all have each other’s backs.

He also made a reference to PAC not being there for them and made a reference to someone’s wife not being there for them, that went over my head.

Everyone made up and Kingston closed the promo by saying he was never eliminated from the Casino Battle Royale at All Out and to read the rules if we don’t believe him.

**********

The announcers showed highlights from Mox/MJF at All Out and pushed that the PPV replay is available for purchase. They were really pushing the replay hard.

The announcers previewed the rest of the show.

**********

Lance Archer and Jake Roberts cut a promo on Moxley. They were standing in a rainy alley.

Roberts said they were getting wet and enjoying it and they were going to make Moxley pee himself.

Archer said Moxley has been champ for too long and he’s sick of it.

**********

Matt Hardy came to the ring for a promo. He said it was great to be in front of a live audience and thanked everyone watching at home.

He said he took a scary fall and was grateful for the amazing outpouring of love and support from the fans.

He said that after a myriad of tests he was expected to make a 100 percent full recovery.

Matt pointed out his “I Don’t Die” shirt. He said he might be the dumbest man alive but he’s for sure the luckiest. He pointed out his family, his wife Reby was in the crowd with one of their children.

He apologized to the fans for the match at All Out not being what he wanted it to be. He said maybe it’s best that his feud with Sammy Guevara is over because if things had kept ramping up someone could have been seriously hurt.

Matt said that once he’s cleared he’s going to get ranked and get his first AEW championship. He said his journey is far from over and the fans are the best.

Excellent babyface promo.

**********

Orange Cassidy defeated Angelico (w/Jack Evans)

This was a little bit more than a squash in that Angelico got some offense but it was super quick.

Angelico worked over Cassidy’s legs with a variety of holds.

Cassidy made a quick comeback and hit a suicide dive and a high cross off the top for a near fall.

Cassidy hit the Orange Punch for the pin.

**********

Santana and Ortiz ran in and attacked Cassidy after the match. Trent and Chuck ran in to make the save.

Trent and Chuck challenged Santana and Ortiz to a fight in the parking lot next week.

**********

Alex Marvez knocked on the Young Bucks’ locker room door. They opened the door and hit him with a tandem superkick.

**********

The Best Man

Tony Schiavone was in the ring. He called out Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford for Sabian to reveal his best man for their wedding.

Sabian plugged his Twitch channel and asked Schiavone to leave the ring. Sabian introduced his best man. Indie wrestler Puf entered first. He wasn’t the best man. Brian Pillman Jr. entered. He was also not the best man.

Miro, the former Rusev, then entered. He is the best man. The announcers said that maybe because Miro and Sabian are both big on Twitch they found a kinship.

Miro said after ten years in the same house with a glass ceiling and an imaginary brass ring, you can shove that brass ring up your ass.

Miro said he’s not just a best man, he’s THE best man. He said if you tune into Twitch you know he’s the best gamer and if you tune in to “right here” you’ll see him destroy people very night.

Miro said elite recognizes elite and he is All Elite.

**********

Tony Schiavone interviewed Hangman Page. Page had his glass of whiskey with him.

Schiavone asked how Page was doing. Page gave a stock answer. Schiavone pressed him for a more honest answer.

Page said that it felt inevitable that he and Kenny Omega were going to split at All Out but it didn’t have to be that way.

He said it was his fault that FTR were in a position to challenge for the titles and he made a mistake in thinking that because the looked like him and talked like him that they were like him.

Page said that he and Kenny had a lot of problems but a lot of wins. He said not having the titles is a challenge but they’ll climb their way back to the top.

So they’re presenting this as if Page is assuming they’re still a team.

Lots of guys in their 30s talking about their feelings on this wrestling show.

**********

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager defeated Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss in a no DQ match

This was a decent brawl that picked up the pace and intensity after a commercial break.

Janela scored some early offense on Jericho. Janela pulled a chair from under the ring and used it. He set it up to use as a launch pad for a leg lariat in the corner but Jericho blocked and hit a suplex onto the legs of the chair.

Janela was cut off and worked over during a break. Kiss got a tag and made a comeback after the commercial break. Hager set up a table on the floor. Hager and Jericho threw Janela off the stage through the table.

Kiss hit a dive to the stage to both Hager and Jericho. Kiss went to the top rope. Jericho sprayed Kiss with a fire extinguisher. Hager then hit Kiss with a uranage and pinned Kiss with a head and arm choke.

**********

Jericho cut a promo after the match. He said All Out was a terrible night for The Inner Circle, his boots still smell like rotten orange and Sammy is home injured.

Jericho said it’s time to turn it all around and he and Hager want the Tag Team titles.

**********

MJF cut a promo backstage in his campaign headquarters. He said Moxley cheated at All Out but he doesn’t blame him because it’s in his nature.

MJF said the campaign staff is to blame and fired them all.

MJF then turned his attention to Wardlow. MJF said they shouldn’t have a problem because he signs Wardlow’s checks, not AEW.

MJF asked if they had a problem, because if they did, he would have to put Wardlow and his family on the street.

MJF said now is not the time for aggression, it’s time to plan how to get back on top.

**********

Moxley cut a promo. He said as if he didn’t have enough on his plate he saw out of the corner of his eye that Lance Archer won the battle royale Saturday night.

Moxley said it doesn’t get any easier for him now with Archer. He said Archer is a monster. But we need to ask ourselves, would you really bet against Moxley right now?

**********

Tully Blanchard and FTR were in the ring for a celebration. Some members of the tag division were surrounding the ring.

Tully put over FTR as the best team in the world. Cash said they are undefeated but they had to fight their way to the top. Cash pointed out SCU and said imagine the matches they could have had if SCU were still in their prime.

Dax cut a promo and said they’re now the locker room leaders. Dax pointed out Jurassic Express and said they get a non-title match with them next week.

Jurassic Express jumped in to face off with FTR. FTR begged off, then threw alcohol in Luchasaurus’s eyes.

FTR rolled outside. Jurassic Express dumped a cooler of ice on them. The remaining teams cut cake slices for each other while FTR and Tully left.

This felt like a bad WWE skit.

***********

Taz joined the announce team. Ricky Starks entered and did a promo dressed as Darby Allin.

Starks mocked Allin for getting hurt all the time and said the nex time Allin shows up, Absolute Ricky Starks is going to absolutely kick his ass.

**********

Nyla Rose (w/Vickie Guerrero) defeated Tay Conti

Conti was nearly in tears as she entered, clearly this meant a lot to her after signing today.

The match was a little bit clunky but a step up from most AEW women’s division matches.

Conti tried a rolling kneebar. Rose fought free and hit a splash in the corner. Vickie Guerrero interfered and raked Conti’s eyes.

They fought to the floor. Conti sent Rose into the barricade and posted her. Conti hit a second rope crossbody for a near fall during an ad break.

Conti tried a springboard sunset flip but Rose blocked. Rose teased a Beast Bomb. Conti blocked and used a triangle choke.

Rose used a Beast Bomb to escape the choke and pinned Conti.

The announcers started talking about how The Young Bucks had been fined for attacking Marvez earlier and how Cody will have a big announcement after the show.

Excalibur kept trying to bring it back to the action but JR and Tony were plugging other stuff.

**********

After the match, Rose continued beating down Conti. Hikaru Shida ran in for the save with a kendo stick.

The announcers mentioned Conti’s offer from Dark Order, which it seemed that sh had accepted on TV a couple of weeks ago. There were no Dark Order teases at all here and Conti was clearly a babyface.

**********

The announcers again said that the Bucks had been fined.

JR threw to a sit-down interview he had done with Omega earlier in the day. This is the best use of JR, by the way.

Omega said winning and losing titles comes with being a pro. He said there’s no reconciliation plan for him with Page and it’s time for him to be the ace he thought he would be and be a singles star.

This was great and worth going out of your way to see.

**********

Moxley vs. Archer for the AEW Championship was announced for October 14.

Lee kicked Cabana out, still upset with him for blowing their win at All Out.

Lee kicked Dustin low and the announcers threw to… Cody.

**********

Cody said he’s injured and has come up with a new concept in a quarantine bubble in Macon, Georgia.

Cody then threw to a commercial for the Go Big talent show on TBS, hosted by Bert Kreischer.

Jennifer Nettles, Rosario Dawson, Snoop Dogg and Cody will be the judges.

This was technically the final segment of Dynamite, a commercial for a talent show.

Jake Hager was backstage in Orange Cassidy’s locker room. Hager told Cassidy that Jericho wants him ringside for Jericho’s match tonight and it would be smart of him to be there.

**********

Tully Blanchard gave FTR a pep talk backstage.

**********

Tony Schiavone was in the ring and called out Kenny Omega for a promo. Omega entered wearing a Hana Kimura tribute shirt.

Schiavone asked Omega about Page’s actions last week. Omega said that everyone makes mistakes and Page got taken in by the FTR cockroaches. Omega said everyone lives and learns and at All Out, FTR will fall to Omega and Page.

FTR and Blanchard came to the ring. FTR offered Omega a chocolate milk from their cooler. Omega called FTR something that got bleeped out and said that if they were going to fight they should get it over with.

Page entered. FTR told Page to tell Omega that they hadn’t gotten to Page to make him turn on the Bucks, but Page did it himself. They had a staredown. FTR begged off. Page stood in the ring by himself. Omega stood by himself on the floor.

Someone is turning on someone soon. This was supposed to add intrigue to that situation. It didn’t for me.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Jericho. Jericho made a joke about Marvez never kissing a woman again. Jericho said he’s made Cassidy a bigger star, he’s shown his mean streak, he’s shown he can cut a promo, but at All Out he’s going to put a bullet in him.

Jericho warned Joey Janela and said he’s going to be a sacrifice tonight.

**********

Chris Jericho (w/Jake Hager) defeated Joey Janela

Jericho won a squash with the Liontamer.

**********

Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy sent each other dueling cue card messages about their match on Saturday during a commercial break. Hardy stood on top an entrance tunnel while Guevara stood on the stage.

These poor guys. They got a seven minute table match with a commercial break last week and this week their angle was during a commercial break. It certainly doesn’t feel like Matt’s career being on the line is a big deal.

**********

Team Taz came to the ring to cut a promo. Taz promised that one of his guys will win the Casino Battle Royale on Saturday.

Jake Roberts and Lance Archer entered. Roberts said this was tit for tat and he was interrupting Taz because Taz did the same to him last week. Roberts made some very strange sexual references in his promo about Team Taz being losers.

Darby Allin’s music hit, then everyone involved in the battle royale made their way to the ring and began brawling. They brawled through a commercial break.

**********

The announce team threw to a video package for the Dark Order vs. Cardona, Natural Nightmares & Scorpio Sky match. Everyone did some good promo work in this video. Good stuff.

**********

Thunder Rosa defeated Serena Deeb

I’m not sure what it says about your women’s division when you bring in two women from outside the company and they have the best match in the division in months.

I’m not sure that having Rosa go back and forth with Deeb when she’s challenging for the title on Saturday was the right way to go either, but the match was quite good.

Deeb went after the left arm and left knee as they traded holds. It broke down into a striking battle. Rosa hit some arm drags. They went back and forth with strikes. Rosa hit a running legdrop.

Rosa hit a dropkick in the corner. Rosa used a neck tie. Deeb slid out and used an octopus hold. Deeb went for a piledriver. Rosa escaped and hit a death valley driver.

They traded cradles for one counts. Rosa hit a one-legged dropkick, then hit the Thunder Driver for the pin.

Mox said it will have to be the meanest, nastiest MJF we’ve ever seen to beat him. He said it’s MJF’s moment, but everything he’s done until now has been easy.

**********

Schiavone interviewed Big Swole. Swole promised to fight Britt Baker tooth and nail on Saturday at The Buy In.

Reba approached disguised as a pizza delivery person. Baker attacked Swole from behind with a crutch. Baker used Lockjaw on Swole and threw pizza on her.

The announcers made jokes about pepperoni, pineapple on pizza and generally treated this as a joke.

Baker and Swole’s match on Saturday is now a “Tooth and Nail” match. I have no idea what that means and it was never explained.

MJF stood over Mox and posed with the title to close the show.

The Young Bucks defeated Natural Nightmares

Natural Nightmares and the Bucks did a short back and forth match to start the gauntlet.

Dustin hit a destroyer and powerslams on both Bucks. QT tried a QT Special on the Bucks but missed and got cut off.

Marshall tried a cutter but got shoved into a high kick from Nick. The Bucks hit tandem superkicks and a BTE Trigger for the win.

**********

Best Friends defeated The Young Bucks

The key to this was Hangman Page turning on The Young Bucks.

These guys had an excellent match, the best of the three in the gauntlet. Both teams hit signature spots. Trent took a German on the apron. Best Friends hit their sole food/half and half suplex combo.

Chuck sold his knee after kicks from Nick. Nick hit a springboard facebuster on Chuck. Trent hit Nick with a spear on the floor. Best Friends got the heat on Nick which is a change of pattern from the typical Bucks match where Matt sells most of the way.

Matt got a hot tag and hit his rolling northern lights suplexes on Trent. Nick tagged back in for some strikes and got cut off again. Best Friends tried Strong Zero but Matt saved for Nick before they could hit it.

Nick hit a 450 to Trent as he was draped in the ropes and Matt covered for a two count.

The Bucks went for a Meltzer Driver. Hangman Page came out of nowhere and grabbed Nick’s ankles, holding him on the apron. Trent then sat down into a cradle and pinned Matt.

Page walked off and acted very solemnly.

**********

FTR (w/Tully Blanchard) defeated Best Friends

FTR attacked Best Friends before the bell and worked them over through a commercial break.

Chuck got a couple of hope spots and cradled Dax for a near fall. Cash hit a suplex on Trent on the floor and essentially turned it into a handicap match.

Chuck sold damage from his first match and having his legs posted here by FTR.

Dax used an inverted figure four/kneebar with an ankle lock and Chuck tapped out.

**********

A Darby Allin hype video aired. He wore a Rciky Starks mask and jumped off a suspension bridge into a body of water. He’s nuts.

Allin and Lance Archer were announced for a 21-man Casino Battle Royale at All Out with the winner getting a future AEW title match.

**********

Lance Archer (w/Jake Roberts) defeated Sean Maluta

The announcers said that Maluta was Afa’s nephew.

Archer won a squash with a pounce, suplex, chokeslam, Blackout and EBD Claw.

**********

Roberts and Archer did a promo after a commercial break. Roberts said they only have one blemish on their record and it’s cost them a lot. Roberts interviewed Archer who said he’ll win the battle royale.

Taz, Ricky Starks and Brian Cage came to the ring and confronted Roberts and Archer. Roberts called Team Taz “Flinstones.” Taz was trying to get his promo out but Roberts kept cutting him off.

Allin then skated in and attacked Starks, knocking Starks out of his shoes. That was great.

Cage and Archer faced off to end the segment, so they’re teasing a big monster battle there.

**********

A nice video package played for the AEW Women’s World Championship match at All Out.

Billy Corgan did voiceovers for the video and put over how great it is that AEW and NWA are working together.

Schiavone and Corgan put Thunder Rosa over as a big star and talented wrestler. JR said that Shida was put on earth to be a pro wrestler.

They signed the contract for the match and Shida promised to win.

**********

Moxley/MJF contract signing

MJF entered with his lawyer, Mark Sterling and his campaign entourage. Moxley entered to a nice ovation. The crowd sounded louder at the opening of the show, though.

MJF said he was a pro wrestling prodigy who grew up studying guys like Ernie Ladd and Buddy Rogers while Moxley was watching Sandman, Onita and John Zandig. MJF said maybe Mox’s “hot little wife” should call him since he’s single.

Moxley said he wants to use the Paradigm Shift, he wants to hurt MJF and cause him permanent neck damage, but by banning the move MJF has just forced him to find more creative ways to hurt him.

Moxley signed the contract. The big swerve here was that Moxley added a stip to the contract where he gets to wrestle Sterling next week.

**********

A Santana and Ortiz hype video aired. They recapped their feud with Best Friends.

**********

The Butcher, The Blade, Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix (w/Eddie Kingston) defeated Joey Janela, Sonny Kiss, Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison

They sent Janela, Kiss, Pillman and Garrison out there to be tackling dummies for Kingston’s new stable. Janela and Pillman both took some spectacularly stupid bumps.

Pentagon and Fenix hit stereo dives. Pentagon hit Janela with a package piledriver on the apron. Pillman took a bump on his head off a lariat.

Fenix hit a springboard double stomp and pinned Pillman.

**********

Kingston cut a promo after the match and said he and his stable will be in the battle royale and one of them will win.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee’s TNT Championship celebration

Dark Order came to the stage carrying a casket. They held a funeral for Cody and the Nightmare Family.

Mr. Brodie Lee entered. They did a less entertaining rehash of their comedy celebration from this week’s BTE before Lee cut a serious promo. He said the open challenge is over and no more TV time for indie geeks. He said Cody’s career is over.

Natural Nightmares ran in to attack. Dark Order beat them down. Scorpio Sky ran in. He got beat down.

Matt Cardona rumbled to the ring and cleaned house.

The first part of this segment was like bad WWE comedy. The second half set up a couple of challengers for Lee and accomplished what it needed to.

**********

Dasha Gonzalez caught up with Hangman at the backstage bar. The Young Bucks entered and confronted Hangman for costing them the match earlier.

Matt said all the Bucks ever wanted was for Hangman to be their friend. Nick said he called Hangman a jobber a long time ago but didn’t mean it, but said Hangman was a jobber tonight. Page didn’t react to any of this.

The Bucks officially kicked Page out of The Elite and stormed off.

Page stared into a broken mirror like a comic book villain at the point in his origin story where he turns evil.

**********

Big Swole defeated Britt Baker, Penelope Ford & Reba (w/Kip Sabian) in a handicap match

Baker cut a promo before the match that was very good and that’s where the highlights ended. I’m a big Penelope and Swole fan but this was a worst match of the year contender.

Baker said that if Swole wins she gets Baker in any kind of match she wants at All Out.

Baker stayed on the stage in her wheelchair and never tagged in.

Ford picked Swole up and almost dropped her on her head. Reba and Ford worked over Swole. Reba’s offense looked terrible.

Baker threw Reba a crutch. The ref took the crutch away. Sabian took the ref. Baker threw another crutch to Reba. Reba hit Ford with the crutch by mistake but actually missed her by a mile. Swole pinned Ford.

Why is Reba in the match if not to get pinned? She’s a makeup artist.

Worst match on American TV this year.

**********

Cody vs. MJF’s lawyer, Santana & Ortiz vs. Best Friends, Chris Jericho vs. Joey Janela, Private Party & SCU vs. Young Bucks & Jurassic Express in an 8-man where the winners face each other at All Out were announced for next week.

**********

Dark Order came to ringside to recruit Taya Conti. Conti accepted and hugged Anna Jay.

This was a strange time to do an angle.

**********

Natural Nightmares, Matt Cardona & Scorpio Sky vs. Brodie Lee, Stu Grayson, Evil Uno & Colt Cabana was announced for All Out.
**********

Sammy Guevara entered for the main event and did his cards gimmick during a commercial break.

Tables match: Sammy Guevara defeated Matt Hardy

Who times these shows out? They went to another commercial break almost immediately after the match began.

They busted each other open during a commercial break. Hardy missed an elbow off the apron and went through a table but it was not a finish as the AEW table match rules are you have to be put through a table by someone else’s offensive move.

Hardy set Guevara up on a table and teased a top rope legdrop. Guevara cut him off and hit a superplex through the table for the win.

These guys killed themselves for a 7 minute TV match where half of it took place during commercials.

**********

Jericho was putting over what a great episode this was when Orange Cassidy ran in and attacked him. They brawled as the show went off the air.

AEW Dynamite live results: TNT title match, Deadly Draw finals

A TNT title match headlines tonight’s special Saturday edition of AEW Dynamite.

Cody will defend the TNT Championship against Mr. Brodie Lee. Cody has managed eight successful title defenses since becoming the inaugural TNT Champion at Double or Nothing in May.

The AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup Tournament Final will take place tonight. The Nightmare Sisters will face Diamante and Ivelisse in the final of The Deadly Draw Tournament to determine the Cup winner.

The Elite will face off against The Dark Order in a six-man tag as The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega team against Alex Reynolds, John Silver and Alan Angels.

The Lucha Brothers will tag up with The Butcher and The Blade against Natural Nightmares and Jurassic Express in eight-man tag action.

FTR will face Private Party in a tag match. Darby Allin will also be in action against an unannounced opponent.

Orange Cassidy’s first in-ring interview has been advertised for the show, as well as promos by Jon Moxley and MJF.

Our coverage begins following the conclusion of the NBA playoff game.

*********

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Taz were the announce team for the show.

The show began with the opening bell for the first match.

FTR (w/Tully Blanchard) defeated Private Party

I was wondering if I had missed an angle with Blanchard joining up with FTR but apparently not. Here Tully was with an FTR jacket.

The match started with a solid exchange, both teams trading offense. FTR eventually cut off Marq Quen. This was clunky at times as Quen is the greener half of Private Party. Harwood and Wheeler worked over Quen.

They built to a hot tag to Isiah Kassidy. Kassidy hit a springboard cutter on Wheeler and a slingshot cutter on Harwood for a near fall. Quen blind tagged in and hit a springboard crossbody for another two count.

Quen and Wheeler ended up the legal men. Kassidy tried a plancha to Harwood but Blanchard pulled Harwood out of the way and Kassidy crashed to the floor.

Harwood tagged back in and FTR hit the Goodnight Express for the pin.

**********

The sound mix was way off for this show. The crowd sweetening was drowning out the announcers.

**********

Jon Moxley cut a good promo. He said MJF’s campaign makes for good TV and it’s entertaining but he doesn’t need to hear his faults from MJF. He said if you want a list of his faults just ask his wife.

Moxley said he doesn’t like people who constantly talk about themselves like MJF does. He said all MJF’s talking makes him think MJF is hiding something.

He said he hopes MJF is who he says he is, the man to carry the company for decades. Moxley said he wants the company to succeed for years and years and most days Mox thinks he might not have another 18 months left he’s so beat up.  He said he hopes MJF can also move out of his parents’ basement and lose his virginity.

Moxley promised to punch, kick, elbow and smash MJF’s skull with his skull on September 5. He said MJF will be champ one day but that day won’t be September 5.

**********

MJF cut a promo surrounded by his campaign staff and legal team. He was wearing a neck brace.

MJF compared Dictator Jon to Nixon and Castro. He said that the Paradigm Shift is an abomination and has left him mangled. MJF said he wants to have a family one day, with kids, he clarified. He said he won’t be able to play catch with his kids as a result of the Paradigm Shift.

MJF’s lawyer took over from there and cut a promo. He mentioned an online petition to ban the Paradigm Shift, which could be deadly according to some medical experts he’s talked to.

The lawyer said that if Mox doesn’t agree to ban the Paradigm Shift from his title defense against MJF he’ll sue him and wants him to sign the contract he’s drawn up banning the move.

This was a paint by numbers old school rassling angle the likes of which we rarely see any more. Good times.

**********

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall defeated Butcher, Blade, Rey Fenix & Pentagon Jr.

This began with a wild sequence that saw Pentagon and Fenix hit stereo topes. The heels beat on QT for a bit. QT managed a tag to Rhodes. Rhodes got cut off and worked over through a commercial break.

Luchasaurus got a hot tag after the break. Jungle Boy went for a tope suicida on Butcher but Butcher didn’t catch him. Jungle Boy hit a tope suicida on Fenix, then a tope con giro on Butcher and Blade, showing tremendous confidence that they would catch him after dropping him moments before.

Luchasaurus hit some kicks. He hit a rough looking chokeslam on Pentagon and a standing moonsault. Everyone jumped in for big moves. Dustin hit a destroyer but didn’t get all of it and almost landed on his head. He should probably retire that one.

Jungle Boy and Blade ended up the legal men. Blade and Pentagon argued over who should hit their finish on Jungle Boy, allowing Jungle Boy to roll up Blade for the pin.

**********

After the match, Lucha Bros and Butcher and Blade started pushing and shoving.

Eddie Kingston entered and cut a good promo. He said that they all came from the indies and now they’re on TNT. He said TNT knows drama but that doesn’t mean there shoud be drama between the five of them.

Kingston said the only thing holding them back from being champs was a lack of unity. He said to stick together and stick with him, so those five look to be a new group.

**********

They showed a Dr. Britt Baker vignette. Baker and Reba were in a gym with Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian. Ford and Sabian were making out. Baker warned them that the number one cavity-causing bacteria is spread through human saliva and they’ve been spreading a lot back and forth.

Baker offered them a year of free dental care if they joined Reba and her in a handicap match against Big Swole. Sabian and Ford didn’t answer.

Baker then offered a year of free makeup from Reba for Ford if they accepted. Ford agreed. All Sabian cared about was going back to making out.

**********

Tony Schiavone introduced Orange Cassidy. Cassidy came to the ring with Best Friends. Before he spoke, Chris Jericho interrupted.

Jericho came to the stage and put Cassidy over with a total babyface promo. He said he’s only been pinned three times in AEW and Cassidy has a win over him.

Jericho challenged Cassidy to a rubber match at All Out. Jericho said he created one of the most famous gimmick matches ever involving a briefcase and a ladder. Jericho said he’s done it again and threw to a video package.

The video detailed the rules of a Mimosa Mayhem Match.

500 cases of champagne will be mixed in a tank at ringside with 80 gallons of orange juice. You win by pinfall, submission or throwing your opponent in the tank.

Cassidy accepted the challenge.

Jericho came to the ring with champagne to toast Cassidy and Best Friends, but called out Inner Circle first.

Inner Circle surrounded the ring and attacked on Jericho’s signal. Jericho and Inner Circle left Cassidy and Best Friends laying and Jericho poured champagne all over Cassidy.

**********

The Elite defeated The Dark Order

This was a very good match.

This started off as you would expect with The Elite taking most of the offense. Things turned when Matt’s series of northern lights suplexes was interrupted. Matt was briefly victim of a 3-on-1 but managed a tag to Omega. Omega got cut off and worked over through an ad break.

Nick Jackson’s hot tag began during a commercial break which is just brutal timing. The Bucks went for an Indytaker but it was blocked. Silver got a near fall off a double stomp.

The action really intensified near the finish. Nick hit a crazy series of dives. Omega helped The Bucks hit an assisted Indytaker on Angels. Omega then used the One-Winged Angel on Angels for the pin.

**********

Omega continued assaulting Angels after the match. The Bucks tried to talk sense to him but he acted unhinged before finally calming down.

I’m not a fan of teasing dissent between members of The Elite. They have done this constantly for months and months, first with Page and now with Omega. This has to pay off at some point, right?

**********

Alex Marvez was with FTR and Blanchard backstage.

Marvez announced a gauntlet match on next week’s Dynamite to determine Page and Omega’s challnegers at All Out.

The match will begin with  fourth-ranked Natural Nightmares and third-ranked Young Bucks. The winner of that match will immediately face the second-ranked Best Friends. The winner of that match will face top-ranked FTR.

Marvez then interviewed FTR and Blanchard. He asked what the relationship between them was. Wheeler said they want to learn from the best. Blanchard said he’s going to take FTR from almost to crossing the threshold.

Page entered and confronted FTR for attacking Rock ‘n’ Roll Express last week. They said that was their business and didn’t concern him. Wheeler said they wanted to honor Rock ‘n’ Roll but they turned their backs on them.

Harwood said he had to fake a knee injury because after seven years of The Bucks talking trash about FTR he had to know if he could trust them. He said when he was pretending to be hurt only Wheeler and Page came to check on them.

Harwood then tried to convince Page that it would be best for him if The bucks didn’t win the gauntlet because they’d keep him in their shadow.

So the tease is that Page might turn on The Bucks next week on Dynamite so he and Omega can defend against his buddies FTR at All Out.

There are about three months worth of storylines that have played out in about six minutes of TV with this FTR angle.

**********

Darby Allin defeated Will Hobbs

Allin ran in and attacked before the opening bell. He hit a tope suicida. Hobbs took over and hit a backdrop and a spinebuster.

Allin answered with a springboard elbow and a Coffin Drop for the pin.

**********

Taz cut a promo from the announce desk immediately after the match. He said Team Taz is rolling. He introduced the newest member of Team Taz, Darby.

Ricky Starks came out dressed as Darby. He cut a promo mocking Allin’s persona. Taz did some obnoxious fake laughing.

Brian Cage attacked Allin from behind. Starks then came to the ring and cut a strong promo on Allin before laying him out with a skateboard shot.

Starks hit a Coffin Drop on Allin and the segment ended with Starks and Cage posing over Allin.

***********

They shot an angle during a commercial break.

Sammy Guevara came to the stage with his Love Actually cards to send Matt Hardy a message.

Hardy attacked Guevara with a chair and laid him out.

Please don’t shoot angles during commercials. Thanks.

Hardy continued the attack after the break. He threw Guevara off the stage through a table.

Hardy grabbed the same kind of chair that Guevara busted him open with a couple of weeks ago and threatened to use it but referees intervened.

**********

Schiavone threw to a pre-taped promo from NWA Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa.

Rosa cut a great promo. She said she heard Shida’s call for challengers and she’s hear to help. Rosa said she will take Hikaru Shida’s AEW Women’s World Championship from her at the PPV.

Rosa is a good worker and a good talker so that match should be something to look forward to.

**********

Veda Scott joined the announce desk for the Deadly Draw Finals. Shaul Guerrero was the special ring announcer.

**********

AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup finals: Ivelisse & Diamante defeated Nightmare Sisters (w/ Natural Nightmares) to win the tournament

This match should not have aired on international television.

Brandi and Ivelisse began and traded a couple of spots before Allie and Diamante tagged in. Diamante got cut off and worked over through a commercial break.

Brandi and Ivelisse got tags. Brandi hit a spear. Allie and Diamante tagged back in. Allie hit Rabbit Hole for a near fall. Brandi teased a pedigree on Ivelisse but got tossed outside.

Marshall jumped on the apron. Ivelisse bumped him off the apron. Diamante hit something resembling a cutter and pinned Allie.

**********

Madusa was their to present medals, flowers and the cup to the winners. Diamante and Ivelisse threw the flowers down and celebrated with Puerto Rican flags.

All of this felt rushed and the match was awful.

If you would like to look on the bright side, Veda Scott was good on commentary, no easy feat in that particular booth.

**********

Jericho on commentary, the tag team gauntlet match, Matt Hardy vs. Sammy Guevara in a tables match, a Moxley/MJF contract signing and Big Swole vs. Britt Baker in a handicap match were announced for next week’s Dynamite.

The main event is next.

**********

TNT Championship match: Mr. Brodie Lee defeated Cody (w/Arn Anderson) to win the title

Cody tried a flurry of strikes at the opening bell. Lee came back right away with a dropkick before throwing Cody over the top rope to the floor. Lee sent Cody into the barricade and tossed some chairs around.

Back inside, Lee hit a half-and-half suplex and a release German.

Lee hit a discus lariat. Cody took a flip bump and got pinned in a total squash match.

**********

Dark Order came to the ring to celebrate with Lee. Tony Schiavone went to the ring to interview Lee.

Lee said he has the power and the say-so now that he has the TNT title. He says executives like Schiavone held him down and created him.

Cody was in the background meanwhile being tended to by paramedics. They did a stretcher job complete with an oxygen mask for Cody.

Cody gave a thumbs up as he was carted to the tunnel. Dark Order intercepted Cody. Arn started to fight his way through Dark Order but was quickly cut off and hit with a thrust kick by Lee.

Dark Order dumped Cody off the stretcher and Lee continued to assault him. Lee hit Cody with a loaded satchel. We would see later that the satchel held the old TNT title.

Dustin and QT came to the stage but were also laid out.

Brandi entered and laid across Cody to try to stop the assault. Anna Jay attacked Brandi and choked her out.

Lee dumped the old TNT belt in pieces on top of Cody and posed over the fallen Nightmare Family.

The announcers put over that AEW changed tonight and it now belongs to Dark Order.

AEW Dynamite live results: Jericho vs. Cassidy, two title matches

Two title matches headline tonight’s live episode of AEW Dynamite.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy.

The TNT Championship will be on the line when Cody defends the title against SCU’s Scorpio Sky.

Chris Jericho will face Orange Cassidy in what is being billed as a $7,000 obligation match. If Jericho wins, Cassidy has to pay Jericho $7,000 to replace the jacket Cassidy ruined when he dropped orange juice from the ceiling on The Inner Circle. The stipulation presumably applies to Jericho as well but this was never thoroughly explained. The Inner Circle and Best Friends are also banned from ringside.

The Young Bucks will be in action against the Dark Order duo of Evil Uno and Stu Grayson.

Appearances by AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, MJF, Big Swole and Britt Baker have also been announced. Plus, AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida will be in action.

This evening’s show has been designated FTR Tag Team Appreciation Night. Special appearances by Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express have been advertised for the event.

Our coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The Young Bucks defeated Evil Uno & Stu Grayson

Excellent opener.

Matt and Nick were attacked by Uno, Grayson, Alex Reynolds, John Silver and Alan Angels on their way to the ring. Uno and Grayson went to work on Nick. Matt hit a swanton off the stage to the floor.

Matt got cut off after a German from Uno. Nick made a comeback and hit his trademark springboard facebuster/moonsault off the apron combination.

Nick was cut off. Uno and Grayson went for The Fatality but Nick avoided and used a sunset flip on Uno for the flash pin. Grayson saved but was just a split second too late.

**********

MJF was shown backstage with his entourage. He began making his way to the ring.

**********

The announcers previewed the rest of the card and introduced a series of vignettes where current tag teams were asked about their favorite tag teams of all time.

Kenny Omega said The Young Bucks were his favorite team and the gods of tag team wrestling. Hangman Page said himself and Omega.

**********

MJF came to the announce desk with his entourage before a commercial break.

**********

MJF cut a promo in the ring from behind his campaign podium. He ripped on Jon Moxley and said we deserve a better champion. He called Moxley an idiot and said he was scared of MJF and wasn’t there tonight after MJF’s assault last week.

Does MJF not watch the show? They just said two minutes before the break that Moxley would appear tonight.

Moxley’s music hit. MJF sent Wardlow to cut Moxley off if he entered through the crowd. Moxley entered through the tunnel instead. He laid out MJF with punches and nailed him with the Paradigm Shift.

Moxley cut a promo. He said that if MJF thought that they were even now, he was mistaken. He promised more punishment at All Out.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Matthew Hardy. Matt’s new gimmick is that since being hit in the head last week, Matt can no longer control his various personas and he slips in and out of them.

You already know this if you watch BTE. If you don’t, maybe they’ll get around to explaining this on TV at some point.

They replayed Sammy Guevara busting open Hardy with a chair shot last week.

Hardy said he’s alive and he won’t die. He said he won’t be cleared until the next Dynamite, next Saturday. Hardy said he can’t wait to get his hands on Sammy and make him bleed.

Hardy said he’s not waiting til next Saturday, he’s going to get Sammy tonight. Referee Mike Posey walked by and Hardy attacked him thinking it was Guevara.

**********

The TNT title match is next.

**********

Mike Chioda made his AEW debut as the referee for this match.

TNT Championship match: Cody (w/Dustin Rhodes, Brandi Rhodes, Allie, QT Marshall & Arn Anderson) defeated Scorpio Sky to retain the title

Cody was really heeling it up here, coming out with his huge entourage, having Justin Roberts introduce him as “The Prince of Pro Wrestling,” and such.

Good match. Cody gave Sky a lot.

Both took a bump over the top rope to the floor. Cody sold his ribs and Sky sold his back.

Cody established the advantage as they got back inside by hitting a powerslam. Cody worked over Sky with a bow and arrow. Sky came back with a cutter on the stage and kicked out of a Cross Rhodes. Sky hit a flatliner for a near fall.

Cody blocked a springboard cutter and hit a second Cross Rhodes for the pin.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee appeared on the screen after the match and delivered a strong promo.

Lee challenged Cody to a TNT Championship match on the next Dynamite, Saturday, August 22.

*********

Private Party said that the Hardys were their favorite team ever.

The tag title match is next.

**********

AEW World Tag Team Championship match: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defeated Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy (w/Marko Stunt) to retain the titles

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are a great act but they are not the caliber of opponent that Page and Omega are often in with. The result was a good match but not at the level of most AEW tag matches.

Stunt tried to get in the ring and attack Omega. Not one of the announcers directly brought up Omega attacking Stunt a few weeks ago and acted as if Stunt was just a loose cannon.

Jungle Boy and Omega began. Jungle Boy got worked over through an ad break. Omega hit Stunt with a snap dragon on the floor. Jungle Boy tried a tope but Omega caught his and hit him with a snap dragon on the floor.

Luchasaurus got a hot tag and hit some kicks. Omega cut him off with a v-trigger. Page tried a Buckshot Lariat but Luchasaurus blocked. Luchasaurus press slammed Stunt out of the ring onto Omega. Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy went to work on Page.

Omega hit a tope con giro on Jungle Boy. Page hit a powerbomb with a stack on Jungle Boy for a two count.

Omega and Page hit the Last Call and Omega covered Jungle Boy for the pin.

Taz was very good in this match in terms of calling moves.

**********

Santana and Ortiz cut a promo in the locker room area. They refused to apologize for trashing Sue’s van last week.

Instead, they dragged some suitcases and items from the van into the shower and poured bleach on them.

**********

The Young Bucks and FTR were in the ring with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.

Matt cut a promo and said that Rock ‘n’ Roll Express were the original Young Bucks and set the standard for The Rockers, The Hardys and The Young Bucks.

Dax cut a similar promo putting over Rock ‘n’ Roll and Arn and Tully for setting the standard that allowed him to provide for his wife and daughter.

Ricky Morton cut a promo and put over FTR and The Bucks.

Arn cut a promo. He put over The Bucks. He called Rock ‘n’ Roll the team of the century. He said FTR are the best team on the planet.

Tully cut a great promo. He said championships are what make you great and no one in the ring has any championships so lets just pause patting each other on the back.

Tully said he’s had a problem with Arn for a year since he interrupted Shawn Spears’s match at All Out and said he doesn’t know what the Nightmare Family symbol on Arn’s vest is all about.

Arn left. Ricky Morton and Tully got in a shoving match. Spears ran in. Dax faked a knee injury and avoided the brawl.

Finally, it was just FTR and Rock ‘n’ Roll left in the ring.

FTR attacked and laid out Gibson with Dax’s knee brace and Morton with a spike piledriver.

The Bucks ran back in for the save. FTR bailed. Omega ran in. Page sauntered to the ring last.

This was a good angle but it had absolutely no time to breathe or sink in because it was time to throw it to the back.

**********

Alex Marvez was with Chioda backstage. Jericho entered. He said he saved Chioda’s job 18 years ago. He said he wants Chioda to call it right down the middle tonight, wink wink.

Chioda promised to call it down the middle. Jericho said when he gives Chioda the signal, he needs to cal lit down the middle and maybe he’ll get Chioda a job here in AEW.

Butcher and Blade said their favorite team is the Road Warriors.

**********

Hikaru Shida defeated Heather Monroe

This was Monroe’s AEW debut. They had as good of a match as you would expect when given two minutes.

She managed a few strikes before being cut off with a jumping knee strike. Shida hit a suplex into the buckle.

Monroe reversed a falcon arrow and got a near fall. Shida used a stretch muffler for the submission.

**********

Schiavone interviewed Shida. He said All Out is coming up. Shida said she’s still waiting for a challenger and “…bring it on.”

**********

Jake Roberts was backstage with Lance Archer. Archer beat up some jobbers in the background while Jake cut a promo.

Archer ripped Jake’s shirt off to reveal “everybody dies” painted on Jake’s back.

**********

The Deadly Draw semifinals on Monday, Dark on Tuesday and part one of last year’s all out on Wednesday were advertised for the AEW YouTube channel.

FTR vs. Private Party, Omega & The Bucks vs. Reynolds, Silver and Angels (is his name Alan Angels or Five, they can’t seem to decide), The Deadly Draw final, Darby Allin in action, Lucha Brothers, Butcher & Blade vs. Jurassic Express & Natural Nightmares and Cody vs. Mr. Brodie Lee for the TNT title were announced for Saturday Night Dynamite on August 22.

Jericho and Cassidy are the main event tonight and they’re next.

**********

$7,000 obligation match: Orange Cassidy defeated Chris Jericho

Cassidy beat Jericho around ringside and nailed him with a dive off the post to the floor with ihs hands in his pockets. Jericho cut Cassidy off with a boot and worked him over.

Jericho hit a back suplex, forearm smash and a springboard dropkick to send Cassidy outside before an ad break. Jericho hit a delayed vertical suplex for a two count.

Cassidy made a comeback. He hit a superkick, a clothesline, a high cross off the top and a pair of dragon screws. Jericho blocked a third dragon screw. He caught Cassidy coming off the ropes and used the Walls of Jericho. Cassidy slid out and used a small package for a two count.

Cassidy used an ankle lock on the same leg he hit dragon screws on. Cassidy countered out of a suplex and hit a stunner. Jericho hit a code breaker for a near fall.

Jericho instructed Chioda to turn around while he used a baseball bat on Cassidy. Chioda took the bat away from Jericho. Cassidy hit a Michinoku driver and an Orange Punch.

Santana and Ortiz ran in, brawling with Best Friends on the stage. Hager ran in and hit a slam on Cassidy while Chioda was distracted by the brawl on the stage. Jericho covered but Cassidy kicked out.

They traded strikes. Jericho hit a low blow. Cassidy ducked a Judas Effect and used a mousetrap cradle on Jericho for the pin. This was not a smoothly executed finish.

Taped Dynamites are timed out and paced so much better than live episodes. This was a live episode.

AEW Dynamite live results: Moxley vs. Allin World title match

The AEW World Championship will be on the line tonight on Dynamite.

Champion Jon Moxley will defend the title against Darby Allin. Moxley and Allin teamed in a winning effort against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks last week.

MJF will give an update on his campaign to become AEW World Champion. The winner of Moxley/Allin will defend the title against MJF at All Out on September 5.

A 12-man tag will also take place this evening. Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, The Young Bucks and FTR will face Mr. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson and Five and Nine of Dark Order.

The Young Bucks and FTR have been reluctant allies in recent weeks, while Page has been getting along with FTR in backstage segments. Omega and FTR have nearly come to blows but they appeared to bury the hatchet on this week’s Being The Elite.

TNT Champion Cody will team with Matt Cardona against Alex Reynolds and John Silver of Dark Order. Reynolds and Silver attacked Cody last week and Cardona made the save. This will be Cardona’s AEW in-ring debut.

Best Friends vs. Santana and Ortiz has also been announced for tonight’s show, an Orange Cassidy/Chris Jericho debate with a special guest moderator is set, and Big Swole will face an opponent of Britt Baker’s choosing. If Swole wins, she’ll get a future match against Baker.

Our coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

*********

Taz, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross were the commentary team.

All three play the role of color commentator and none of the three know the names of moves so it’s a real challenge for them to get these matches over.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Five & Nine defeated The Young Bucks, FTR, Hangman Page & Kenny Omega

This was chaotic, but in a good way. Lots of action. .

Lee and Nick started out. Lee didn’t fare well and he tagged Nine to be a sacrificial lamb. The Elite and FTR worked Nine over. Lee cut off Omega with a kick on the floor and the tide turned.

The momentum shifted again as Omega made his own comeback on Grayson and Uno. Nick hit a flip dive off the post to the floor.

The match turned again as Dax sold a knee injury after hitting a double stomp off the second rope. Cash and Page helped Dax as he limped to the back. This left Matt, Nick and Omega 3-on-6 against Dark Order.

Page finally made his way back to the ring and got a hot tag from Matt. Page ran absolutely nuts, beating Dark Order 1-on-5 as Lee looked on. Page hit a moonsault off the post. Page then dared Lee to tag in.

Lee and Page traded strikes. Uno cut Page off with a kick from the apron. Cabana tagged in and hit a Chicago Skyline. Omega saved. Grayson hit a 450 on Page for a near fall. The Bucks jumped in for a superkick party.

The Bucks hit tandem superkicks on Lee into a snap dragon suplex from Omega.

For the finish, Page went for the Last Call on Lee. Lee ducked and hit Page with a discus lariat for the pin.

**********

Best Friends were shown arriving at the building in Trent’s mom’s van.

**********

Jon Moxley cut a promo. He said he had a lot of demons early in his career. He said people tried to talk him out of fights and he didn’t listen, so he understands why Darby Allin is fighting him tonight.

Moxley said roles have reversed and now he’s the veteran talking sense to the young guy. He said Allin is his favorite guy in AEW and he doesn’t want to be responsible for ending his career.

Moxley asked Allin to stay down when he tells him it’s time to stay down.

I liked this promo. Good content and good delivery to set up a babyface match for the title.

**********

Best Friends defeated Santana & Ortiz

This was a long match and much slower-paced than the opener. Some of it was good but a lot of it felt like filler. Trent sold for the bulk of the match.

Taylor was in control at the outset. Trent tagged in and got cut off after being tripped on the apron. Santana used a cutter for a near fall.

Trent made a hot tag to Taylor. Taylor hit sole food and used a falcon arrow for a near fall. Trent tagged back in and got cut off again.

Santana and Ortiz set up for the Street Sweeper. Taylor shoved Santana off the top and Trent trapped Ortiz’s leg for the fluke pin.

This felt like the first match of a longer program based on the finish.

**********

JR threw to a MJF pre-taped skit from his campaign headquarters. MJF ripped on Lee Johnson for hanging a campaign poster crooked. He told Nina to smile or not talk at all.

MJF said that just because he has his title match at All Out, he’s not letting up in his campaign.

The camera operator asked if he was concerned that Darby Allin might win tonight. MJF said it would be a real shame if the 125-pound emo kid won the title, he’d hate to face him and totally blew him off.

**********

Matt Hardy was in the ring for a promo. He said he came to AEW because he wanted to come to a place where he was respected, where he could be an attraction and where he could give back to younger talent.

Hardy said he also wants to give back and help young talent as Matthew Hardy. Hardy said he’s taken Private Party under his wing. He said he made the same offer to Sammy Guevara but Guevara gave him a proverbial middle finger.

Hardy said he no longer wants to help Sammy, he wants to hurt him.

Guevara ran in and they had an intense brawl. Hardy got the upper hand. He set up a table. Guevara came back and posted Hardy and placed Hardy on the table. Hardy bled a gusher.

Guevara came off the stage with a senton on Hardy through the table.

**********

They cut away from the brawl to the parking lot. Santana and Ortiz used a madball and a sledgehammer on Trent’s mom Sue’s van.

Santana spray painted “Sue” on the hood of the van and sprayed an X through it.

**********

Matt Cardona & Cody (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Alex Reynolds & John Silver

This was a very basic tag. Cardona looked fine but didn’t do a ton as Cody sold for most of the match.

Reynolds and Silver almost immediately cut Cody off, ramming his ribs into the ring frame. Tonight is a big apron bump night as we got our third in three matches. Cody sold his ribs big.

Reynolds and Silver continued working on the ribs through a commercial break. Cody tried a backslide but Silver blocked. Cody hit a powerslam and made the hot tag.

Cardona hit a dropkick through the ropes to the floor on both Silver and Reynolds. Cardona hit a double underhook powerbomb on Reynolds for a near fall.

The match broke down. Cody hit Silver with a cutter. Reynolds sent Cody outside. Silver and Reynolds doubled up on Cardona. Cody and Silver did a simultaneous suplex spot over the top to the floor.

Cardona hit Reynolds with Radio Silence (the former Rough Ryder) for the pin.

**********

As Cody made his way to the back, Scorpio Sky approached him in the tunnel. Sky tapped on the TNT Championship, indicating a future challenge.

**********

Best Friends cut a promo in front of Sue’s van. They promised to get Santana and Ortiz back and make them apologize to Sue on speaker phone.

**********

Guevara came to the stage and did his gimmick with the cards. One of the cards said that Chris Jericho was a master debater.

**********

AEW Super Wednesday 2020 Debate

Justin Roberts introduced the moderator, Eric Bischoff. Bischoff didn’t do any shtick, he just introduced Cassidy and Jericho.

Cassidy entered first. Jericho entered with Jake Hager. Hager was carrying the jacket that Cassidy ruined with orange juice.

Bischoff posed the first question, “Why do Jericho and Cassidy hate each other so much?”

Jericho answered first. He ripped on Cassidy for not dressing up for the occasion. Jericho was wearing a suit. Cassidy was in his usual gear. Jericho said Cassidy is a joke, a flash in the pan and plays pocket pool. Cassidy said nothing.

The second question was who is the bigger star and who is the better wrestler.

Jericho said he’s won 50 titles around the world while the only title Cassidy won was biggest slacker in his high school. Jericho said if they had gone to the same high school he would have stuffed Cassidy in a locker, stolen his money and his girlfriend. Cassidy said nothing.

The third question was about rising sea levels. Jericho blew the question off. Cassidy gave a detailed response about  the danger of rising sea levels.

The fourth question was about why Cassidy is so popular. Jericho called Cassidy a pimple on the ass of life and everything wrong with wrestling. Cassidy ignored the question.

The final question was why the rematch meant so much to both men. Jericho started to answer. Cassidy interrupted and said that he knew what Jericho was doing, challenging a guy who doesn’t talk to a debate.

Cassidy said Jericho was trying to humiliate him but he isn’t humiliated. Cassidy said next week is thebiggest match of his life. He said it’s the biggest match of Jericho’s life too.

Cassidy said imagine Jericho losing to the guy who puts his hands in his pockets.

Bischoff declared Cassidy the winner. Jericho said he hasn’t liked Bischoff for 22 years. Bischoff said it was actually 24 years.

Jericho said he was going to kick the shit out of Cassidy next week, but Hager is going to kick the shit out of Cassidy now.

Hager attacked Cassidy and laid him out. Best Friends ran in for the save.

This was a fun segment. Cassidy was excellent, Jericho was excellent and Bischoff was good in his limited role.

**********

Tony Schiavone interviewed Britt Baker. He asked who Baker had chosen as Big Swole’s opponent tonight.

Baker said she had chosen… Reba.

**********

Big Swole defeated Reba

Swole used a side headlock. Reba came back with a suplex. Reba missed a second rope moonsault and Swole hit Dirty Dancing for the pin.

Why did this happen?

**********

AEW World Championship match: Jon Moxley defeated Darby Allin to retain the title

This was a good brawl.

Moxley came to the ring wearing a paper Moxley mask. Allin slapped Moxley before the bell. Moxley fired back with a forearm shot.

Moxley hit some powerful strikes. Allin hit a shotgun dropkick and a tope suicida to the stage. Moxley threw Allin off the stage into the ring post before a commercial break. Moxley used a single-leg crab and an STF during the break.

Moxley hit an x-plex. Allin came back with a tackle through the ropes and they crashed to the floor. Allin hit a tope through the bottom and second ropes. Moxley probably saved Allin’s life by catching him.

Allin stomped on Moxley’s hands and hit a flip dive off the post to the floor. Back inside, Allin went for a second rope Coffin Drop. Moxley blocked. Allin hit a code red for a near fall. Moxley came back with a belly-to-back suplex off the second rope.

Wardlow and MJF came to the ring. Wardlow took the ref. MJF grabbed the title belt and laid out Moxley with a belt shot. Allin hit a Coffin Drop and Moxley kicked out. Moxley bladed after the belt shot. Allin hit a backpack stunner and a running back elbow.

Allin came off the top with another Coffin Drop but Moxley caught him on the landing and put on a sleeper. Moxley then hit a Gotch-style piledriver. Allin kicked out at two.

Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift and pinned Allin.

Moxley cradled Allin’s head to indicate that he was proud of him after the match.

**********

They cut to MJF watching on a monitor backstage, he was livid that Moxley retained.

AEW Dynamite live results: Two title matches

Two title matches headline tonight’s AEW Dynamite and every champion in the promotion will be in action.

Cody will defend the TNT Championship against independent star Warhorse. Cody has made six defenses of the title since winning it in May at Double or Nothing.

The AEW World Tag Team Championships will also be on the line tonight. Champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will defend against Evil Uno and Stu Grayson of The Dark Order. Omega and Page have made seven defenses of their titles since winning them from SCU on Dynamite in January.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will also be in action this evening. He will team with Darby Allin against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a tornado tag match. Moxley and Allin have each saved the other from attacks by Cage and Starks in recent weeks.

AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida will face Diamante in a non-title match. Diamante defeated Ivelisse on last week’s Dynamite, while Shida was last in action against Rache Chanel in a victory on last week’s AEW Dark.

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Best Friends and Orange Cassidy will face Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager in a 10-man tag.

MJF making a “state of the industry address” has also been announced for the show.

Our coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Taz welcomed us to the show.

Best Friends, Orange Cassidy, Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy defeated Santana, Ortiz, Chris Jericho, Jake Hager & Sammy Guevara

The babyfaces did some dives at the outset. Marko Stunt climbed on the back of Luchasaurus and they hit a double dive to the floor.

Hager cut Trent off with an illegal strike from the apron. Inner Circle worked on Trent for the bulk of the match.

Trent made a hot tag to Luchasaurus who ran wild with kicks. There was a Botchamania moment where Luchasaurus’s mask popped off.

The match broke down and everyone jumped in for a big move. Luchasaurus teased a chokeslam on Guevara. Jericho tried to jump in with a baseball bat. Cassidy stopped Jericho.

We got a distraction finish here. Guevara went to the top rope but got distracted by Matt Hardy’s music. Hardy appeared behind Guevara and shoved him off the top rope into a roundhouse kick from Luchasaurus for the pin.

The announcers said that Hardy and Guevara have unfinished business.

This match was not very good, plus the finished sucked. The announcing also sucked. There was no Excalibur to call moves so it was three guys playing the same role.

The only plus was that it was a heel that fell victim to the paralyzing other wrestler’s music distraction finish instead of a babyface.

**********

Jon Moxley cut a pre-taped promo backstage. He called Brian Cage and Ricky Starks “punk bitches” for attacking Darby Allin last week. He said he tries to mind his business and that he doesn’t start fights but he can finish them. This was a good promo.

Taz then said that Moxley was clearly scared of Cage.

The announcers previewed the rest of the card.

**********

TNT Championship match: Cody (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Warhorse to retain the title

This was a very good match. Warhorse is the real deal.

Both broke cleanly against the ropes after locking up. Cody turned his back and Warhorse clobbered him with a forearm. Cody tried a sunset flip out of the corner but Warhorse kicked out. Warhorse tried a jackknife cover but only got a two count.

They did a criss-cross spot which ended with Warhorse hitting a lariat. Cody took over during a commercial break. He used a superplex and a single-leg crab.

After the break, Cody used a figure four. Warhorse reversed the figure four and Cody forced a break. Warhorse hit a series of strikes. He sold the damage from Cody’s holds as he climbed to the top rope. Warhorse hit a double stomp off the apron.

Back inside, Warhorse hit a top rope elbow for a near fall. Warhorse blocked a figure four and used a small package for a two count. Warhorse blocked a sunset flip and sat down for a near fall.

Warhorse tried a double stomp off the top but missed and sold the leg on landing. Cody locked on a figure four and Warhorse submitted.

**********

Alex Reynolds and John Silver of The Dark Order ran in after the match and attacked both Warhorse and Cody. Arn climbed into the ring and acted like he was going to fight them.

Instead, an absolutley gigantic Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE, ran in for the save.

He cleaned house and embraced Cody after.

**********

Tony Schiavone was on stage to announce the next pay-per-view on September 5.

Inner Circle interrupted. Jericho said they’re pissed off tonight. Guevara called Hardy a son of a bitch twice.

Jericho challenged Cassidy to a debate next week with a moderator who will blow our minds and challenged Cassidy to a rematch on August 12. Jericho said when he beats Cassidy, Cassidy will give him seven thousand dollars cash to replace his jacket.

Santana told Jericho the jacket smells more like cat pee than orange juice.

**********

JR threw to a pre-taped FTR contract signing. FTR were about to sign their deal when Arn Anderson entered and looked over the contract for them, teasing an alliance there.

They have it in their contract that all the rules will be strictly enforced in their matches and only they will use tag ropes.

Hangman Page entered with whiskey to share a drink with FTR. Arn was offered a drink but declined.

FTR said that they asked Tony Khan to make August 12 a tag team appreciation night with them as hosts.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee, Anna Jay and Colt Cabana came to announce desk. JR and Schiavone were unaware that Jay had joined Dark Order many weeks ago, maybe because we haven’t seen her since.

Cabana joined the commentary team.

AEW World Tag Team Championship match: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defeated Stu Grayson & Evil Uno to retain the titles

This was a good match that a hot crowd could have taken to another level.

Page attacked Uno and Grayson before the bell. Omega slowly made his way to the ring and made the save as Page fell victim to a 2-on-1. Dark Order regained control in the early part of the match after turning it into a brawl around ringside.

Omega got sent into the barricade and Dark Order began working Page over during a commercial break. Page came back with a slam and tagged Omega. Page and Omega hit some tandem offense. Grayson sent Page to the floor.

With Page down, Uno and Grayson worked on Omega. Uno hit a senton bomb for a near fall. Grayson and Uno hit simultaneous offense with a 450 and a cannonball in the corner for a near fall. Omega hit Uno with a snap dragon. Omega hit a v-trigger for a two count.

The finish saw Page get a tag. Page and Omega hit the Last Call for the pin on Uno.

**********

After the match, Lee escorted Cabana and Jay to the back. He then came back to the stage and laid out Uno with a stack of papers.

Lee cut a promo. He said he noticed The Young Bucks were watching from the crowd. The Bucks made their way to the ring.

Lee said Page pissed him off by not joining him last week and now he will pay. Some jobbers in Dark Order masks jumped the rail and looked ready to attack.

FTR ran in with a cooler and laid out Lee on the stage before making their way to the ring and helping The Elite fight off the geeks.

**********

Tony Schiavone introduced Britt Baker. Baker said she’s going to give Big Swole a shot at her if Swole beats an opponent of her choice.

*********

Diamante cut a pre-taped promo. She said she’s been working hard on the indies for ten years. She said she’s trying to get signed and a win over the AEW Women’s Champion would get her a contract.

She said she’s willing to give her last breath in the match.

**********

The Deadly Draw women’s tag tournament was randomly announced during the next match. It will begin Monday at 7 p.m. Eastern time on the AEW YouTube Channel. More rules will be announced later tonight, according to Schiavone.

**********

Hikaru Shida defeated Diamante

They brawled back and forth early. The match spilled to the floor where Shida hit a knee lift with Diamante draped over the barricade.

Shida teased a superplex but Diamante snapped her neck over the top rope with a neckbreaker. Diamante tried to hit machine gun chops in the corner.

Diamante hit a wheelbarrow stunner. Shida took a great bump off the stunner. Diamante covered but Shida’s shoulders weren’t down. Another Botchamania moment tonight.

Diamante tried something resembling a destroyer into a cover but Shida’s feet were on the ropes. Another botch. Shida hit a delayed vertical into a falcon arrow for a two count.

Shida then hit a shining wizard for the pin.

This was a bad match and it was not Shida’s fault.

**********

The rules for Deadly Draw were announced:

  • The tournament is a random draw
  • All competitors must draw a color
  • Matching colors will become a team
  • Selections are final and cannot be appealed.

**********

Dasha Gonzalez was backstage with Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero. Dasha asked who Nyla was looking forward to as a partner. Vicke said it doesn’t matter.

Rose drew her color, purple. Dasha said that someone had already drawn purple as well.

Ariane Andrew, the former Cameron in WWE entered and said “Girl, hi,” a take on her WWE catchphrase.

My word.

**********

MJF’s State of the Industry Address

MJF was shown backstage. He made his way to the ring, passing “MJF 2020” campaign posters along the way. During a commercial break, he walked around ringside shaking hands and acting like a politician. MJF began his address from a podium.

MJF said that wrestling fans are dumb but he has been given ample time tonight to force feed the audience like you would feed a kid macaroni and cheese.

MJF said Moxley is not his champion and repeatedly called him “Dictator Jon.” He said AEW was supposed to be about change and opportunity but with Moxley on top it’s more of the old guard.

MJF made all sorts of insider references. He talked about how he draws more ratings than Moxley. He said Moxley and his like have brainwashed fans into expecting flips and dives. He said Moxley is cosplaying as Stone Cold.

MJF challenged Moxley for his championship and said he was going to carry this company for the next 25 years.

The delivery here was excellent and the content of the promo significantly improved towards the end.

**********

Cody & Matt Cardona vs. Alex Reynolds & John Silver, an MJF update, FTR & The Young Bucks & Page & Omega vs. Brodie Lee & Cabana & Grayson & Uno & Five & Ten and the Jericho/Cassidy debate with a special guest moderator were announced for next week.

I was not a fan of this match.

Hangman Page defeated Alan “5” Angels

Page opened the match with some strikes and a big boot. Dark Order came to the stage before a commercial break. Dark Order’s presence seemed to inspire Angels who worked Page over during the break.

Page made a comeback with a rolling elbow for a near fall. Page hit a powerbomb and used a stack cover on 5 for the pin.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee and Colt Cabana joined Dark Order on the stage after the match. Lee then made his way to the ring.

Lee told Page that he’s been nothing but impressed with Page but he’s not impressed with his lack of friends right now when he’s in danger. Lee offered Page protection.

Page said he appreciated the compliments but he isn’t ready to join a cult right now. Lee told Page he just made his bed and he hopes he enjoys his sleep. Lee and Cabana left.

Dark Order attacked Page. FTR ran in with a cooler for the save. Omega then ran in but not until FTR had already cleared the ring.

FTR offered Page a beer and he accepted while Omega looked on.

This was a fun main event with a ton of good action.

Jericho cut Luchasaurus off with a low dropkick. Hager continued working on Luchasaurus’s legs. Jungle Boy got a tag and hit a dive onto Santana and Ortiz on the floor. Stunt interfered behind the ref’s back. Jungle Boy hit a springboard flatliner on Jericho for a two count.

Jericho brought a baseball bat into the ring. Referee Aubrey Edwards forced Jericho to drop the bat. Jungle Boy cradled Jericho for a two count. Jungle Boy hit a lariat into a double down. Jericho made a tag and Hager cut Jungle Boy off again.

Jungle Boy hit a double DDT on Hager and Jericho and finally made the hot tag. Luchasaurus ran wild with strikes. Everyone jumped in. Santana and Ortiz took the ref. Stunt hit a missile dropkick on Jericho into a thrust kick by Luchasaurus for a near fall.

Luchasaurus hit a roundhouse kick on Jericho for another near fall. Santana jumped on the apron. Jungle Boy hit a flying headscissors off the apron onto Santana and Ortiz.

AEW Fight for the Fallen live results: Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage

AEW will present the second annual Fight for the Fallen tonight.

The show will be headlined by an AEW World Championship match as Jon Moxley defends the title against Brian Cage. Taz presented Cage with the FTW Championship last week at Fyter Fest but that title is not on the line. This match was originally scheduled for Fyter Fest but was moved to this week as a precautionary measure after Moxley’s wife, Renee Young, tested positive for COVID-19.

The second title match will see Cody defend the TNT Championship against Sonny Kiss. Cody has made four successful title defenses since defeating Lance Archer to become the inaugural TNT champ.

FTR will face The Lucha Brothers this evening in tag team action. These two teams were on opposite sides of a show-stealing eight-man tag last week.

Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will team against Jurassic Express, Brandi Rhodes and Allie will be in action, and a Chris Jericho promo has also been advertised.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

TNT Championship match: Cody (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Sonny Kiss to retain the title

They went really heavy with the Four Horsemen teases here. Tully Blanchard was pointed out in the crowd and they cut to camera shots of him several times.

Kiss got a big entrance with the Jaguars cheerleaders. The match was very good but secondary to the teases with Blanchard.

Cody appeared to be taking Kiss lightly at the start. Kiss hit a rolling elbow. Arn Anderson gave Cody a pep talk. Cody used a full nelson. Kiss came back with a headscissors.Kiss missed a leg slice off the top and landed in the splits. Kiss recovered and used a 450 for a near fall.

Cody took control of the match with a vertebreaker. Cody hit a superplex for a near fall. Cody and Arn were both heelish in arguing with ref Aubrey Edwards for a slow count. Cody used a crossface but Kiss forced a break.

Cody exposed a buckle but got sent into it himself. Kiss rolled him up for a two count. They traded strikes.

The finish came out of nowhere as Cody blocked a strike and hit Cross Rhodes for the pin.

Cody and Kiss embraced and raised each other’s arms after the match.

The announcers previewed the rest of the card. FTR vs. Lucha Brothers is up next.

**********

FTR defeated Lucha Brothers (w/Butcher & Blade)

They again pointed out Tully in the crowd and talked about him scouting FTR.

This match was very good but not at the level of the eight-man last week.

Pentagon and Harwood began the match. Pentagon and Fenix got some shine early and hit some tandem offense. Wheeler and Fenix got tags and things flipped in FTR’s favor. Pentagon saved for Fenix and Lucha Bros were back in control before a commercial break.

After the break, Harwood got a hot tag and took on Pentagon and Fenix himself. Harwood hit two crazy suplexes and hit a sliding uppercut forearm for a near fall on Fenix. Harwood’s chest was bleeding from some hard chops.

Wheeler got a tag and was immediately cut off. Fenix hit a pop-up splash off Pentagon’s shoulders. Pentagon hit a springboard legdrop for a two count. Harwood tagged in and hit a modified doomsday device for a near fall.

Harwood and Pentagon fought on the top rope. They did a great series of spots where Fenix and Wheeler both tried top rope splashes but their partners got their knees up.

The match broke down into a brawl with all four guys in. Pentagon hit slingblade on Wheeler. Penta teased a destroyer on the apron. Wheeler blocked. They traded chops. Wheeler hit a tornado DDT through the ropes. Fenix hit a springboard splash off the post to the floor.

The finish saw Harwood rip off Fenix’s mask. Fenix covered his face and Harwood cradled him for the pin.

**********

After the match, the Young Bucks attacked Butcher and Blade and took back the keys to FTR’s truck. Kenny Omega entered with a cooler of beer.

The Bucks gave FTR their truck back. Omega offered to toast and drink a beer with FTR. FTR instead poured the beer on Omega’s head.

Omega went after FTR but the Bucks held him back.

FTR left in their truck.

**********

Chris Jericho entered for a promo with Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager.

Jericho said he beat Orange Cassidy in one of the greatest matches in AEW history and won the ratings war last week. He explained that he’s never been beaten in the 18-49 demo and called himself the Demo God. The only thing worse than demo talk on Twitter is demo talk on television.

He said the fans want a rematch with him and Cassidy, the network wants one and Cassidy wants one, but they’re not getting it.

Cassidy entered. Jericho said Cassidy did great last week but proved that he’s too lazy to hang with Jericho at the top level.

Cassidy snapped his fingers and oranges and orange juice fell from the ceiling. Inner Circle was juiced. Ortiz took some bumps in the orange juice.

Jericho called for a towel and someone threw him an Orange Cassidy towel to dry off with.

Not a great segment.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Jurassic Express. Marko Stunt said Jericho was an idiot for getting covered in orange juice. Luchasaurus said after 65 million years he’s finally getting a chance to wrestle The Elite.

**********

Jericho joined the announce desk, taking Taz’s place. Jericho ranted and raved about being covered in orange juice and his 7000 dollar jacket being ruined. Jericho cut a promo on Stunt.

They replayed the orange juice spot again. Jericho ranted and raved for several minutes.

**********

Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks defeated Jurassic Express

This was the best match on the show. Very good stuff. I’m sure Stunt getting a lot of offense is going to be polarizing but whatever.

Nick and Jungle Boy began with a great exchange. The highlight was Jungle Boy blocking a facebuster. Stunt and Omega tagged in. They presented that Omega was taking Stunt lightly. Omega gave Stunt a lot of offense.

Luchasaurus and Matt got tags. Things quickly broke down before a commercial break and all six brawled to the floor. Omega hit a terminator dive before the break.

After the commercials, Luchasaurus got a tag and ran wild with a variety of kicks. He hit a standing moonsault on Nick and Omega saved after a cover.

Omega tagged in to face off with Luchasaurus. Omega hit snap dragon suplexes on all three Jurassic members. Jurassic Express came back with the Extinction Level Event on Omega. The Bucks made the save after a cover.

The Elite hit a triple tiger driver on Luchasurus for a near fall. Jungle Boy hit a top rope frankensteiner on Nick. Stunt hit a 450 and covered but Matt saved.

Stunt hit a tower of doom destroyer off Luchasaurus’s shoulders on to Matt for a near fall. That spot was incredible.

Omega started hitting v-triggers. He went for a One-Winged Angel but Stunt blocked and rolled him up for a near fall.

Omega then hit a v-trigger and the One-Winged Angel on Stunt for the pin.

**********

During the match they showed Hangman Page drinking at a bar backstage. FTR joined him during the match.

After the match, Omega snapped and started pounding on Stunt with right hands. The Bucks tried to talk him down. They’ve teased on BTE that Omega is going to be bringing back The Cleaner character and this is one of the first signs we’ve seen of a more serious edge to him on TV.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. MArvez mentioned that four of the top five ranked women in the company are unavailable for various reasons and asked if that meant Shida was ready for Nyla Rose.

Shida cut a promo in perfect English. She said she is always ready for Nyla but it doesn’t have to be Nyla. She said there are plenty of talented women in the company. She said if you have the passion, step up and show her and challenge her.

**********

Moxley cut an effective promo. He said things haven’t been great lately but things are better today, because today, he gets to hit and be hit in the ring.

Moxley promised to tear Cage’s surgically-repaired left bicep off the bone and told him to enjoy the hospital.

**********

The Nightmare Sisters (Brandi Rhodes & Allie) defeated Kenzie Paige & MJ Jenkins

They’re still doing the reluctant partners thing with Allie and Brandi. This time it was Brandi who was more aggressive about blind tagging herself in and such.

This was basically a squash. The finish saw Brandi come to Allie’s aid and hit a spear on an interfering Paige while Allie hit a GTR on Jenkins for the pin.

Dustin raised Allie’s arm after the match and they seem to be telling the story that Brandi and Dustin are starting to come around on Allie.

**********

Dasha Gonzalez called out Nyla Rose. Rose heeled on Dasha, then introduced her new manager, Vickie Guerrero.

Vicke cut a promo on the entire women’s division. She said when they decide to go after the title that no one will stop them.

She said that Rose will steal every opportunity from everyone in the division and cackled maniacally.

Vickie is great and I’m glad there’s a spot for her in this business.

**********

Cody defending the TNT title, Hangman Page vs Five from Dark Order, Ivelisse vs. Diamante, MJF in action, Young Bucks vs. Butcher & Blade in a falls count anywhere match and Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy vs. Jericho and Hager were announced for next week.

**********

Taz cut a promo before Moxley entered and said we were moments away from Cage’s crowning moment.

Moxley entered wearing a Danny Havoc shirt to honor his friend who recently passed away.

AEW World Championship match: Jon Moxley defeated Brian Cage (w/Taz) to retain the title

This was a good match. They tried to protect Cage on the finish and I think they accomplished that. Cage appeared to be pretty blown up by the end.

Moxley was dominant early. He went after Cage’s left arm as he promised in his promo. He used a variety of holds in attacking the arm. They brawled outside and Moxley continued working on the arm.

Moxley set up a guardrail against the ring and teased a suplex on the rail. Cage reversed andhit a German on Moxley on the guardrail to take control before a commercial. Cage continued working Moxley over through the break.

Cage hit a few different suplexes and used a chinlock. Moxley came back with a clothesline and posted Cage. Moxley used a cradle for a two count. Cage cut Moxley off with a lariat.

Cage went for a moonsault but missed. Moxley hit a double-arm DDT but Cage kicked out. The announcers called this as the Paradigm Shift but it wasn’t the high-angle double-arm DDT.

Moxley hit a superplex for a two count then went to a kimura on the left arm. Cage slid out and hit a buckle bomb. Cage hit a superplex off the second rope instead of the turnbuckle.

Moxley blocked a Drill Claw attempt and rolled into an armbar. Cage kept his fingers locked at first. Moxley slipped to a triangle and back to the armbar. Taz was freaking out on the floor.

With Cage still in the armbar, Taz threw in the towel and ref Rick Knox called for the bell.

**********

Cage hit a belt shot on Moxley after the bell, then threw a series of right hands.

The lights went out.

When the lights came on, Darby Allin appeared on the top rope. He came off the top rope and hit Cage in the throat with a skateboard. Cage and Taz bailed.

Allin and Moxley faced off. Cage tried to come back to the ring but Taz, referees and security held him back. And that’s how the show ended, with Allin’s music playing.

AEW Fyter Fest night two live results: Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy

Fyter Fest continues tonight on TNT.

The two had a strong brawl two weeks ago on Dynamite and a pull-apart on night one of Fyter Fest last week.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against Private Party. Omega and Page successfully defended their titles last week against Best Friends, while Private Party defeated Santana and Ortiz a week ago to earn the title shot.

AEW World Tag Team Championship match: Hangman Page & Kenny Omega defeated Private Party (w/Matt Hardy) to retain the titles

Page hit a fall-away slam with a bridge for a two count. Omega missed a kotaro krusher. Isiah Kassidy tagged in to hit the silly string on Omega. Page and Quen brawled on the floor where Page threw Quen over the barricade. Kassidy hit a spectacular springboard dive to the floor.

Archer entered with Janela’s tag partner Sonny Kiss in a fireman’s carry on his shoulders. Archer launched Kiss into Janela. Janela came back with a dive off the post.

Janela set up a table on the outside. He then grabbed a chair and climbed to the top rope. The referee took the chair away which gave Archer time to recover. Archer hit a pounce, then targeted Janela’s back with stomps.

You could see welts forming on Janela’s back and chest from the force of Archer’s blows. Archer continued working Janela over as the show went to a commercial break.

Taz brought a black bag to the ring. He said what was in the bag was something he created years ago with his blood, sweat and tears, the FTW World Championship.

Taz said no promotion has ever recognized the FTW title but fans around the world recognize that whoever holds that title is the baddest son of a bitch on the planet. Taz said Cage is no longer uncrowned, he’s the new FTW champion.

Taz said the FTW Championship is some renegade sh**. He said Cage is the FTW Champion and will soon be the AEW Champion too.

Taz continued his run of great promos here.

**********

The Butcher, The Blade, Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix defeated The Young Bucks & FTR

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana & Stu Grayson defeated Scorpio Sky, Frankie Kazarian & Christopher Daniels

This was a good match and the story of Cabana slowly embracing Dark Order is growing on me.

Grayson and Daniels started out. Grayson got some offense before Daniels cut him off. Kazarian tagged in and hit a release German suplex for a two count.

Cabana and Sky tagged in. Cabana sold his ribs as Sky grabbed him. Lee began yelling at Cabana from the apron as if he was angry that Cabana was showing weakness.

Remember when everyone started doing Spanish Flies about two years ago? The trend in wrestling right now is the pump kick. Everyone is using the pump kick. Cody used a pump kick here. Hager hit a Vader bomb for a two count.

Hager tried a second Vader bomb. Cody blocked and hit an inverted DDT for a two count. Hager hit a throw off the buckle for a two count. Hager used an ankle lock but Cody forced a rope break.

Here was the finish. Hager took the ref. Catalina slapped Cody. Hager went back to the ankle lock. Arn got in the ring and took the ref. Dustin Rhodes ran down and punched Hager. Cody went for Cross Rhodes. Hager blocked it. Hager hit a uranage and floated over into the arm triangle. Cody postured up and pinned Hager.

This match didn’t do anything for me. The TNT title time limit actually hurts Cody matches because his best matches are long brawls where he can spend a long time selling. I also can’t recall having seen Hager have a good outing in AEW yet.

**********

Hager jumped up after the match as though he had won. Hager thought Cody passed out in the hold and that’s why the bell rang.

Hager knocked out the referee. A bunch of referees and road agents ran in to get Hager out of the ring.

**********

A Darby Allin hype video played. He was skateboarding and stuff. It was okay. Precisely as much thought went into coming up with the content for this video as it seems from this description.

**********

Orange Cassidy sauntered in and sat next to the commentary team with his feet on the desk.

**********

Private Party (w/Matt Hardy) defeated Santana & Ortiz

There was some good action in this one. Isiah Kassidy was the star of the match, he was absolutely on fire tonight.

Quen and Kassidy ran wild early with some spectacular dives. Kassidy in particular hit a great dive to the floor. Santana cut Kassidy off with a backdrop. Ortiz tagged in and hit a DDT and Santana and Ortiz established control.

Quen got a tag during a commercial break and hit some dives before he was also cut off. Kassidy got  tag and hit a crazy tornillo. Kassidy hit a swanton on Ortiz for a near fall. Quen tagged in and fell victim to some tandem offense. Ortiz made a cover and Kassidy made the save for Quen.

Santana took out Kassidy on the floor. Ortiz took the ref. Santana tried to use a mad ball on Quen but Hardy jumped on the apron and took it away.

Santana and Ortiz went for the Street Sweeper. Quen pulled Santana’s headband over his eyes and blocked the move. Private Party hit the Gin and Juice on Santana and Quen picked up the pin. Ortiz was just seconds late on making the save.

**********

Jericho and Cassidy had a pull-apart. I wouldn’t even have done this angle here. As far as generating interest in their match, nothing was going to top the angle that closed last week’s show. They should have just replayed that in some form. Jericho left the commentary desk for the rest of the show.

**********

The announcers previewed next week’s show.

Private Party vs. the winners of the tag title match tonight was added to the show.

Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage for the AEW title was moved to two weeks from tonight, which will apparently be Fight for the Fallen.

**********

Taz and Cage entered for a promo. Taz said he’s not upset that the match was moved back a week.

Taz said Moxley didn’t want to come to Fyter Fest out of fear for the health of the staff and crew. Taz said that sounds good but he knows Moxley has been tested time and again at home and has tested negative. He said the only thing Mox is positive for is the chicken shits. Taz worked in a line here about AEW not running a “sloppy shop,” a jab at WWE. That’s well and good and I like Taz but he’s in a ring surrounded by people not wearing masks, so let’s not throw stones in our glass house.

Taz promised that Cage will take the title from Moxley’s “dumb ass” at Fight for the Fallen.

This was a great promo. Taz is making a strong case for best on interviews this year.

**********

Best Friends arrived for the main event in a nondescript vehicle. Trent’s mom was driving. She was later shown in the crowd during the match.

AEW World Tag Team Championship match: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defeated Best Friends to retain the titles

Omega and Taylor started off. They had a very basic exchange before tagging out. Trent and Omega had a back and forth. Taylor and Trent double up on Page and got the first real advantage of the match.

Page made his own comeback. Page and Omega then went two on one against Trent. Omega hit a kotaro krusher. Page hit a standing shooting star press for a near fall. Omega and Page remained in control through a commercial break.

FTR came out to the stage with chairs and beers to watch the action.

Taylor got a tag and made a comeback. He suplexed Omega into Page on the floor against the barricade. Page and Trent got tags as the back and forth nature of the match continued. Page hit some lariats. Omega tagged in and hit a missile dropkick and a fisherman buster on Trent.

Omega went for you can’t escape but Trent got his knees up and blocked. Taylor tagged in and hit a spike piledriver on Omega. Page broke up the pin attempt.

Omega hit snap dragon suplexes on both Taylor and Trent. Page hit a rolling elbow on Taylor and powerbomb on Trent. Omega hit Trent with a v-trigger. Page covered for a two count.

Page and Omega went for Last Call. Trent dodged it and Trent and Taylor hit their Strong Zero on Page. Omega broke up the pin. Omega tried a One-Winged Angel on Taylor. Taylor blocked and hit a Michinoku driver. Best Friends did their hug spot.

Page hit a pump kick and knocked Taylor out of the ring. Trent and Page traded strikes. Trent blocked a sunset flip and sat down in a cradle for a two count. Page hit a deadeye on Trent for a near fall.

Page hit the Buckshot Lariat on Trent for the pin.

This was a very good main event.

**********

FTR came to the ring with beers after the match and offered them to Page and Omega. Page and Omega both accepted the beers. Page drank his. Omega doesn’t drink so he poured his out.

Wheeler and Harwood were upset that Omega poured out their beer and confronted him. The Young Bucks ran in to separate FTR and Page and Omega.

What a weird finish to the show. FTR vs. Omega and Page is a fine direction to tease. But there’s another show next week with a tag title match on it. Shouldn’t Private Party have been the team confronting Omega and Page tonight? Weird. But this was overall a very good show.

AEW Dynamite live results: Final build to Fyter Fest

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite serves as the go-home show for Fyter Fest.

The most heavily pushed thing on the show is a face-to-face confrontation between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy. Two weeks ago on Dynamite, Jericho and The Inner Circle attacked Cassidy with a bag of oranges.

Cassidy got a measure of revenge on last week’s Dynamite when he provided a distraction that cost Jericho and Sammy Guevara a chance to challenge for the tag titles at Fyter Fest. Subsequently, Jericho vs. Cassidy was announced for Fyter Fest.

Guevara was originally set to face Matt Hardy on tonight’s show. Following Guevara’s suspension, that match has been changed to Hardy vs. Santana.

Brian Cage will be in action tonight ahead of challenging for Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship at Fyter Fest. Moxley was supposed to be in action tonight but was pulled from the show as a precaution due to having contact with someone who had contact with someone who has COVID-19.

QT Marshall is also off tonight’s show due to having brief contact with a non-wrestling acquaintance who has since tested positive for COVID-19. FTR were originally supposed to face Marshall & Dustin Rhodes and will now take on SCU’s Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian.

Luchasaurus vs. Wardlow in a lumberjack match, Mr. Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss, AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida in action, and highlights from a press conference for the TNT Championship match at Fyter Fest have also been announced for tonight’s show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Lumberjack match: Wardlow defeated Luchasaurus

This was a solid opener featuring two athletic big guys.

They opened with dueling shoulder blocks. MJF tripped Luchasaurus on the apron allowing Wardlow to establish control of the match. Wardlow gouged the face and ripped at the mask.

Luchasaurus came back with chops and a tail whip. He followed with a standing moonsault for a two count. Luchasaurus hit a pump kick.

They climbed the ropes. Wardlow hit a superplex for a near fall. Luchasaurus reversed a whip and hit something resembling a Spanish fly for a two count. Wardlow rolled to the ramp where he hit a slam.

The lumberjacks began brawling. Wardlow and Luchasaurus fought to the stage. Wardlow threw Brandon Cutler and Marko Stunt off the stage on top of a pile of lumberjacks. Luchasaurus sent Wardlow off the stage with a roundhouse kick and followed up with a shooting star press off the stage.

Back in the ring, Luchasurus hit a chokeslam. MJF jumped on the apron and took the referee. Jungle Boy charged MJF and hit a tope.

With the ref distracted, Wardlow hit a low blow and an F-10 for the pin.

**********

After the match, MJF went after Jungle Boy. A brawl broke out in the ring and they had a pull-apart.

Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy vs. MJF and Wardlow was announced for Fyter Fest.

**********

A Taz video promo aired. He broke down the technique involved in some of Brian Cage’s moves, including the Drill Claw.

The announcers previewed the rest of the card.

Tony Schiavone read notes from Britt Baker. Baker was in a golf cart surrounded by plexiglass. She wanted a clinical diagnosis on why Luchasaurus had a green tongue.

**********

Hikaru Shida entered  for her match. Penelope Ford took a swing at Shida from behind the barricade. The two exchanged words.

Hikaru Shida defeated Red Velvet

Shida hit a high knee and a falcon arrow for the pin. That was the entire match.

**********

After the match, Shida attacked Ford and Kip Sabian. They were pulled apart.

**********

The announcers threw to highlights from the TNT Championship press conference.

Jake Hager was not present as the press conference.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated reporters asked both questions. I could be wrong, but I think they used names of fake reporters from PWI history. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

A reporter asked Arn Anderson if he was surprised that Hager wasn’t there.

Arn cut a strong promo on Hager. He said he fired Cody up last week when Hager made a challenge from a safe distance. He said Hager might have the credentials to be a champion but he doesn’t have the heart.

Cody answered a question about what the TNT title means to him. He said it represents hope. He said Ricky Starks coming to Dynamite with just three dollars in his checking account last week and leaving with a job is hope.

Cody said he loves real wrestling, not cosplay wrestling or meta wrestling. He said he loves to taste his own blood and wrestling has fed him his entire life. This was a nice promo but I’m not sure what it had to do with Hager.

Hager and his wife Catalina entered. Hager and Cody faced off for the cameras. They did a brief pull-apart after Hager put his fist on Cody’s jaw but no punches were thrown.

As they were leaving, Catalina threw a glass of water on Cody.

**********

A Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela vignette aired.

Kiss gave Janela a pep talk as they drove along. Kiss said everyone loses themselves now and again and Janela will be fine.

They pulled into a gas station. Kiss filled up the car while Janela went inside to get food. A group of dudes showed up and started trouble with Kiss. Janela and Kiss fought off the dudes and drove off.

Kiss said he could get used to this team thing. Janela said he could too.

I found the execution of these vignettes a little clunky, but an excellent idea to give both Kiss and Janela some depth to their characters and explain why they’re now a team. An overall win.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana defeated Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela

This was a good match but it felt like the wrong duo won. Kiss and Janela came off as much more interesting than whatever this Cabana/Dark Order story is.

Kiss and Lee began. Lee hit some power moves and Kiss tagged out. Lee dropped Janela with a shoulder block and tagged Cabana, giving instructions on how to attack from the apron.

Cabana was immediately cut off. Kiss and Janela hit some nice tandem offense including a Hart Attack clothesline. Kiss tagged in and used a crab on Cabana. Lee interfered to break it up. Dark Order creepers interfered and Cabana got the heat on Kiss.

Lee and Cabana used quick tags in working Kiss over during a commercial break. After, Cabana missed a flying apple. Janela got a tag. He flipped off Lee and hit a DVD on Cabana for a two count.

Janela hit a moonsault off the post onto Lee on the floor. Kiss hit a moonsault off the post to Cabana on the floor. An awesome spot. Back in the ring, Kiss hit Cabana with a 450. Janela covered but Lee broke up the pin.

Cabana slid out of a doomsday device and used a cradle on Janela for a two count. Kiss hit a high cross off the post onto Alex Reynolds and John Silver. Lee hit Kiss with a lariat on the floor.

Janela tried a tope suicida but Lee threw Janela into the barricade. Lee hit Janela with a discus lariat and allowed Cabana to cover Janela for the pin.

**********

Lee raised Cabana’s hand after the win. Cabana celebrated with Dark Order.

Kiss helped Janela out of the ring. Lance Archer ran in and laid out both Kiss and Janela. Jake Roberts pulled Archer away saying this wasn’t worth Archer’s time.

**********

A video package aired showing Shawn Spears laying out Pineapple Pete with a loaded glove on Dark.

**********

FTR defeated SCU

These guys had a tag match straight out of 1988 and I mean that as a compliment. This was superb.

FTR got the first bit of offense. All four then brawled to the floor before a commercial break. Kazarian and Daniels worked over Wheeler during the commercials.

Harwood got a tag and hit a series of snap suplexes. Harwood hit a slingshot suplex on Daniels for a two count.

Kazarian took the ref. Daniels used an inside cradle on Harwood. Wheeler jumped in and reversed the cradle with the ref’s back turned. Daniels kicked out.

Kazarian and Wheeler got tags. They traded chops and lariats. Kazarian hit a back stabber and an unprettier for a near fall.

Daniels tagged in. Wheeler escaped an SCU Later attempt and launched Daniels into the buckle. Wheeler held Daniels while Harwood hit a legdrop off the buckle for a two count.

SCU hit a powerbomb/neckbreaker combo but Harwood kicked out. Daniels hit Angels Wings on Harwood but Wheeler broke it up. Harwood cradled Daniels for two.

Wheeler blind tagged in. Wheeler and Harwood hit the Goodnight Express and pinned Daniels.

**********

Harwood cut a promo after the match. He said FTR weren’t welcomed when they arrived in AEW. Harwood said there are good guys and bad guys and he and Wheeler are the baddest guys.

Harwood cut a promo on Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, then The Young Bucks.

Harwood was interrupted by The Blade. Butcher and Blade were in FTR’s truck.

Lucha Bros entered the ring. Blade challenged FTR and the Bucks to face Butcher, Blade and Lucha Bros at Fyter Fest in an 8-man tag.

Lucha Bros hit FTR with their package driver double stomp combo. The Bucks ran in for the save.

Lucha Bros, Butcher and Blade drove away in FTR’s truck.

**********

A video package for the tag title match at Fyter Fest aired. This was good.

Schiavone, Taz, JR and Excalibur served as talking heads during this segment. They contrasted the odd couple of Omega and Page with Best Friends.

Omega said he and Page might not be best friends but they’re the best wrestlers.

**********

A Moxley/Cage hype video aired. Moxley said he realized when Cage put him through a windshield that if Cage wasn’t after his title they might have been friends.

The same talking heads discussed the match. This was well done.

**********

Taz joined commentary for the next match.

Brian Cage defeated Jon Cruz

Cage won a squash after hitting a variety of throws and suplexes and pinning Cruz with the Drill Claw.

**********

Taz went to the ring and cut a great promo after the match. He called out for Moxley and asked where he was. He mocked Moxley for being home with a bullshit excuse.

Taz said Cage is Moxley’s fate and Moxley’s championship is in grave danger. He said it’s good Mox isn’t there because Cage is unsafe.

Taz told Mox to ask himself if he can stop the path of Cage at Fyter Fest.

**********

Lee and Cabana were backstage discussing their win. Cabana said winning feels good. Lee said our lives are filled with defeats but it’s how we come back from them that makes sense.

Lee cut a promo on SCU. He said he’s bringing his best men to Fyter Fest and he wants them to do the same. Cabana acted unsure if this was a good idea. Lee assured him it would be fine.

**********

Jurassic Express vs. MJF & Wardlow, Private Party vs. Santana & Ortiz, Hikaru Shida vs. Penelope Ford for the AEW Women’s World title, Cody vs. Jake Hager for the TNT Championship and Omega & Page vs. Best Friends for the tag titles were announced for night one of Fyter Fest.

Night two will have Nyla Rose in action, Lance Archer vs. Joey Janela, SCU vs. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana & Stu Grayson, Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho, Young Bucks & FTR vs Lucha Bros, Butcher & Blade and Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage for the AEW World title.

**********

Britt Baker had Tony read a note. Baker said Big Swole was the biggest piece of trash on the roster. Swole appeared and dumped trash on Baker.

**********

Matt Hardy defeated Santana

This was all about setting up Private Party vs. Santana and Ortiz.

Matt was not moving well tonight. He has a lot of value as a mind and as a character, but a TV match every week isn’t good for him at this stage of the game.

Santana started off with some chops. Hardy came back with chops of his own as the action spilled to the floor. Santana took the referee and Ortiz tripped Hardy on the apron. This allowed Santana to work Hardy over during a commercial break.

Santana countered a side effect with a uranage for a near fall. Santana hit a quebrada for a near fall. Santana missed a frog splash and sold his ribs.

Hardy made his comeback. He hit a side effect but Santana kicked out at one. Hardy hit a second side effect and Santana kicked out at two. He hit a third and Santana kicked out again.

Hardy caught Santana coming off the top rope and hit a kick. Hardy hit an inverted DDT and made a cover. Ortiz took the referee.

For the finish, Santana hit a sit-out DVD and cradled Hardy. Hardy reversed the cradle and got the flash pin.

**********

Santana and Ortiz beat down Hardy with a madball after the match. They then hit the Street Sweeper. Private Party ran in for the late save.

**********

Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho entered for the main event segment.

Jericho told the “why did the chicken cross the road?” joke three times. He compared Cassidy to the joke. A little bit funny and amusing at first, but stupid when you think about it.

Jericho said when he heard that AEW signed Cassidy he called Tony Khan, Kenny Omega and The Bucks and asked why. He said he then watched some of his stuff and understood that he got over on his own by being different.

Jericho said Orange got out of his lane when he stepped in Le Champion’s face. He said if he tries any bullshit, kick the shins offense at Fyter Fest, Jericho will knock his teeth down his throat.

Jericho said Cassidy will run out of Juice at Fyter Fest. This was a superb promo. It was everything that it should have been.

Cassidy hit his light shin kicks to Jericho. Jericho took Cassidy’s glasses off and crushed them.

Cassidy got a takedown and began beating Jericho around the arena.

Jericho made a comeback and pulled Orange’s jacket over his head. Cassidy then made a comeback. They continued going back and forth as they brawled into the stands.

Jericho hit Cassidy with pieces of barricade and a camera boom. Cassidy dropped Jericho’s face on a railing. Cassidy was bleeding from the ear.

Cassidy hit a superman punch and sent Jericho crashing through a table. Cassidy stood tall as the show ended.

AEW Dynamite live results: Tag titles, TNT Championship on the line

Two championships will be on the line tonight on Dynamite.

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Natural Nightmares, QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes. Rhodes and Marshall carry a 5-0 record as a team in 2020 into the contest, while Omega and Page clock in at 7-0 in 2020.

The next challengers for the tag titles will be decided tonight as well.

Best Friends, Chuck Taylor and Trent, won a number one contenders match at Double or Nothing to earn a title shot at Fyter Fest in July. After Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle attacked their friend Orange Cassidy on Dynamite last week, Trent and Taylor demanded a match with Jericho and Sammy Guevara on tonight’s episode. As explained by Tony Khan on Twitter, Jericho and Guevara would only agree to the match if Best Friends put their title shot on the line tonight.

Cody is set to make his third defense of the AEW TNT Championship tonight. No opponent has been named for his open challenge.

The Young Bucks will also be in action against Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian.

MJF vs. Billy, plus Anna Jay in action have also been announced for the show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW World Tag Team Championship match: Kenny Omega & Hangman Page defeated Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall (w/Brandi Rhodes) to retain the titles

There were some issues here. Good wrestling in this match but way too much nonsense went on around the wrestling.

First, by not having Allie out there from the beginning you telegraphed that there wouldn’t be a finish until Allie showed up.

Second, the commentators were all over the place. Excalibur was busy trying to explain the Dustin/Brandi/Allie/QT story for those who don’t watch AEW Dark. Tony Schavone was reading messages that Britt Baker was passing him. Britt is great and she and Tony are great together but somebody has to call the action.

Omega and Dustin began. They did a spot where Dustin took an accidental headbutt in the corner. That laid the foundation for the story of the match. Dustin sold like he was woozy and forced QT to work much of the match.

Omega hit a springboard double sledge to QT. Page hit a sliding lariat on QT for a near fall. Omega hit a kotaro krusher. The story was that QT was taking a beating but surviving.

QT made a hot tag to Dustin. The Natural Nightmares logo on Dustin’s bodysuit began peeling off. That’s a perfect metaphor for this team. Dustin was great here delivering his destroyer and flip dive off the apron plus a powerslam. QT hit a QT Special, which Excalibur accurately referred to as ugly.

Allie came to the stage to try to fire QT up. QT hit a diamond cutter. QT got cut off and Page hit him with a rolling elbow for a two count. Omega hit a v-trigger for a near fall.

The finish saw Omega and Page hit the Last Call. Omega covered QT for the pin.

Allie’s appearance led to nothing.

**********

The announcers previewed the rest of the card. They revealed that Cody would be defending against someone from outside of AEW tonight.

*********

We got an Anna Jay promo package. She said she’s signed to AEW and is still figuring out the entertainment side of wrestling.

Abadon defeated Anna Jay

Abadon has a horror movie gimmick. Abadon squashed Jay and pinned her with a hurricanrana.

After the match, Dark Order entered with Jay still down in the middle of the ring. Evil Uno presented Colt Cabana an envelope. Mr. Brodie Lee nodded at Cabana.

5 and 10 helped Jay out of the ring and to the back.

Jay has a world of potential, she just needs ring time and consistency. We’ll see how her story with Dark Order plays out.

**********

MJF (w/Wardlow) defeated Billy (w/Austin & Colten Gunn)

They had to pay this off with a match after they shot the angle last week but I’m still not sure why they shot the angle.

Billy hit a big boot and a thumb to the eye. MJF teased walking out but Billy followed him up the tunnel and carried him back to the ring.

Billy went for a fameasser but MJF avoided it, hit a chop block and took control of the match before an ad break. MJF and Wardlow posted Billy and worked over his legs during the break.

Billy made a comeback after the break. MJF jawed with the referee. MJF went for a fameasser but Gunn blocked and hit a fameasser. Wardlow jumped on the apron and took the ref. Wardlow passed MJF his diamond ring.

Wardlow went after Austin and Colten on the floor. Gunn went after Wardlow and sent him into the barricade. Gunn climbed back inside and MJF nailed him with the ring.

MJF immediately covered for the pin.

**********

After the match, Wardlow, MJF, Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt had a pull-apart at ringside.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Jericho and Guevara backstage. Jericho said Marvez has a fat head.

Jericho and Guevara promised to beat Best Friends to a pulp tonight. Jericho said he and Guevara are more than friends, they’re blood brothers and blood is thicker than orange juice.

**********

Tony interviewed Britt Baker. He started the interview by announcing Penelope Ford vs. Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s World title at Fyter Fest.

Baker said that Ford is only getting the shot because she’s hurt. Baker then got pissed at Tony and said they’re on a friendship timeout and TNT will be pissed at Tony for losing an interview with her.

Baker called for Reba to roll her away but Big Swole was revealed to be driving Baker’s cart. Swole drove off.

**********

Cody entered for the open challenge.

He cut a promo. He said the air is thin and it’s lonely at the top. He said when Jake Hager beat him down last week he noticed that there were no members of The Elite or Nightmare Family that came to his aid.

Cody wondered if he was still in The Elite or if The Nightmare Family was still a family. This was the most overt tease for a heel turn in the series of teases for a heel turn that Cody has been doing.

Arn Anderson cut a promo. He said that timing is everything and the timing for the match with Hager at Fyter Fest just isn’t right.

Nonetheless, Arn said, he had an opponent for Cody tonight, someone who would be a good test.

A Ricky Starks video package then played. Starks put himself over as the hottest free agent in wrestling.

Starks then entered for the TNT title match.

**********

AEW TNT Championship match: Cody defeated Ricky Starks to retain the title

Cody gave Starks a ton and they had a very good TV match. They worked it more as a back and forth athletic contest than your traditional heel vs. babyface battle.

The repeatedly cut to Hager backstage as he watched the match on TV.

They locked up and traded hammerlocks. Cody missed a charge into the ropes and sold his ribs. Starks set Cody up in the ropes but Arn pulled Cody out of the way before Starks could connect. That was  a total heel move, nothing subtle about it. Starks hit a big DDT and a top rope superplex.

Cody hit a suicide dive. JR couldn’t help but seize the opportunity to shit on suicide dives.

The finishing sequence saw Cody miss a disaster kick which led to a series of cradles for near falls. Cody then hit Cross Rhodes for the pin.

Cody and Starks shook hands after the match.

**********

The Young Bucks defeated Superbad Squad (w/Penelope Ford)

Good action in this match but way too much going on, as is the theme of tonight’s show.

Referee Rick Knox took a pair of pliers away from Havoc before the opening bell.

Havoc went right after Matt’s heavily taped ribs. Nick tagged in and The Bucks hit some tandem offense and stereo planchas. Butcher and Blade jawed with the Bucks from the audience.

Butcher and Blade jumped on the apron and took the ref. Havoc hit Matt with a wet floor sign and the Squad worked Matt over through a commercial break.

FTR came to ringside to watch the match.

Matt made his own comeback then made a hot tag to Nick. Nick ran absolutely crazy on the hot tag. He hit a springboard attack to the stage on Havoc.

Nick used a sharpshooter on Sabian. Havoc grabbed a hammer and took the ref. Ford jumped in and hit Nick with the wet floor sign. Havoc hit an implant DDT for a near fall. Sabian tagged in and hit an assisted DDT for a near fall. Sabian missed a double stomp off the top.

Havoc and Matt tagged in and bedlam ensued.

Matt hit northern lights suplexes. Matt and Nick hit risky business. Sabian hit a top rope double stomp. Pin falls were broken up. Sabian was bleeding from the neck for some reason.

The match broke down. Matt and Nick made Sabian assist them in hitting an Indytaker on Havoc. The Bucks hit stereo superkicks.

The finish saw Matt and Nick hit stereo kamigoye knee strikes to Sabian for the pin.

**********

Butcher and Blade jumped the Bucks immediately after the bell. FTR jumped in and hit Butcher and Blade with Goodnight Express.

The Bucks hit Blade with an Indytaker. FTR hit Havoc with a spike piledriver at the same time.

The segment ended with FTR and The Bucks facing off in the ring.

**********

The announcers threw to a Taz and Brian Cage video.

Taz explained the scene last week where Moxley and Cage went at it. Taz said Moxley is stealing his gimmick that he came up with decades ago.

Cage interrupted Taz and said he can’t wait for Fyter Fest to rip Mox’s head off and take his title.

Cage said nobody better than Cage.

**********

Moxley cut a pre-taped promo. He said he has bad demons that only beating people up in the ring can keep at bay.

**********

Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy, Mr. Brodie Lee & Colt Cabana vs. Joey Janela & Sonny Kiss, Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus in a lumberjack match, FTR vs. Natural Nightmares and Jon Moxley in action with Taz on commentary were announced for next week’s Dynamite.

**********

JR asked Tony for an update on Big Swole abducting Baker. Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

Reba used an app to track Britt’s phone and she found Baker in a dumpster. Baker chewed her out.

Baker promised to sue Big Swole and beat her if it’s the last thing she does.

***********

“Unkillable” Matt Hardy joined the commentary desk for the main event.

Guevara entered singing Jericho’s entrance song.

The main event is next.

**********

Best Friends defeated Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara to retain their tag title shot at Fyter Fest

Hardy didn’t say much on commentary. He wasn’t bad but he didn’t add a lot in this role either.

Taylor and Trent opened aggressively, doing a good job selling that they were upset with Jericho for hurting their friend Orange. Taylor choked Jericho with a shirt. Trent speared Guevara on the floor.

Jericho and Guevara cut Taylor off. Guevara used Jericho’s old cocky pin attempt. Jericho hit some stomps. Jericho missed a lionsault enabling Taylor to tag Trent. Jericho tagged out as well.

Trent hit a big suplex on Geuvara. Jericho hit Trent with Floyd the baseball bat from the floor to turn the tide again before an ad break. Trent sold through the entire break, including taking his flip into the buckle.

Taylor got a tag and hit a falcon arrow and Liger bomb on Guevara for a pair of near falls. Best Friends hit their sole food/half and half combo. Jericho broke up the rainmaker hug spot. Trent hit a knee strike to Jericho.

Jericho locked Trent in the Walls while Guevara hit a flip dive over the top to Taylor. Trent forced a rope break. Jericho ran into a lariat and tagged out.

Trent crotched Guevara on the top rope. Best Friends hit an assisted superplex. Trent hit a lariat and Guevara took a flip bump. Jericho broke up a pin. Guevara rolled up Trent with a handful of tights for a two count.

Taylor and Jericho brawled on the floor. Taylor grabbed a chair. Jericho threw Taylor over the barricade. Guevara hit Trent with the baseball bat and hit a shooting star press for a two count.

The finish saw Guevara go for a GTH. Trent fought out of it and sent Guevara into the ropes. A camera operator tripped Guevara. Trent then hit his version of Strong Zero for the pin.

**********

After the match, the camera man revealed himself to be Orange Cassidy.

Cassidy took Jericho down twice and hit a series of punches. Cassidy sent Jericho rolling out of the ring with a superman punch. This angle was well done.

Harwood said AEW is the pinnacle of wrestling and they are the pinnacle of tag team wrestling.

The Young Bucks then entered.

Nick Jackson said they were there to congratulate FTR on their great match. Matt Jackson thanked FTR for helping them out two weeks ago.

Matt said that The Bucks have carried tag team wrestling for the last 15 years.

FTR jumped The Bucks from behind. Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian ran in. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page sauntered in. FTR, Omega, Page and The Bucks cleared the ring to end the segment.

Clearly they are teasing a multi-team match. FTR vs. The Bucks is the ultimate destination but they are holding off on that. The post-match was a bit of a cluster.

Dasha Gonzalez was backstage with Natural Nightmares, Brandi Rhodes and Allie.

Dasha said that Natural Nightmares will face Omega and Page for the tag titles next week.

Brandi was upset that Allie was wearing QT’s Nightmare Family jacket. Marshall said that Allie is his girl and part of the family. It’s kind of a disaster that QT has a Nightmare Family jacket and I don’t.

Dustin Rhodes told QT that he needs his head in the game next week. He said Omega and Page are two of the best in the world and as a multi-time tag champ, Dustin knows what it takes to win.

Dustin told QT to get Allie out of his system and focus on their match next week.

Penelope Ford (w/Kip Sabian) & Nyla Rose defeated Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander

Rose and Ford attacked Statlander and Shida before the bell. Statlander fought off a double team and Rose accidentally speared Ford.

Shida hit a knee strike to Rose. Shida hit a falcon arrow on Ford for a two count. Sabian grabbed Shida’s ankle. Statlander hit a tope suicida to Sabian.

With the ref distracted, Rose threw Shida’s belt to Ford. Ford hit Shida with the belt and followed with a fisherman’s suplex for the pin.

They put over on commentary that Ford could be in line for a title shot after pinning the champ.

**********

They threw to a Darby Allin video package. Allin said he wasn’t cleared to wrestle. Tony Hawk entered and told Allin that he didn’t need to be cleared to skateboard.

Allin skated as Hawk looked on.

**********

We got a Britt Baker promo video.

Baker said she’s faced more challenges than Big Swole or anyone else in AEW.

She said she’s happy to be a role model for anyone in AEW but she needs to be respected.

Orange Cassidy, Trent & Chuck Taylor defeated Jake Hager, Santana & Ortiz

Inner Circle attacked before the bell. Hager went after Cassidy on the stage.

Inner Circle cleared the ring and isolated Cassidy. Santana went for the Street Sweeper but Taylor shoved him off the top rope.

The finish saw Cassidy use a crucifix to pin Ortiz.

**********

Jericho left the commentary desk and ran to the ring with Floyd the baeball bat. Jericho and Inner Circle left Cassidy and Best Friends laying. Cassidy bladed.

Jericho retrieved a bag of blood oranges and beat Cassidy down with them.

Jericho said that Blood Orange Cassidy has just been juiced. This was a good angle.

**********

Schiavone interviewed MJF.

MJF cut an excellent promo. He said he’s been undefeated for over a year yet somehow Jungle Boy got a TNT title shot last week.

MJF said he’s a great white shark swimming in a pool of minnows. Billy Gunn interrupted and said he’s a great white.

MJF said he’s shocked Billy isn’t trying to get another of his worthless sons a job. Billy grabed MJF’s wrist. MJF called for Wardlow. Wardlow intervened and the angle ended.

**********

Ross threw to a video package highlighting Dark Order’s attempts to recruit Colt Cabana.

**********

Sammy Guevara defeated Colt Cabana

This was really more of an extended angle than a match.

Guevara came to the ring with a knee scooter still selling his golf cart injury. He was totally fine once the match started. Cabana came out with a scooter as well to mock Sammy.

The match began and they flipped each other off. Guevara cut Cabana off immediately and worked him over with a chinlock through a commercial break.

Cabana blocked a burning GTS attempt. Cabana hit flip, flop and fly and a bionic elbow. Cabana hit a flying apple and a splash for a two count. Cabana hit a moonsault for another near fall.

The finish saw Cabana go for the Chicago Skyline. Cabana slipped on the ropes. Guevara then hit the GTH for the pin.

**********

Mr. Brodie Lee entered with the Dark Order. Lee helped Cabana to his feet then left. Cabana followed Lee through the heel tunnel.

**********

Guevara then demanded that his music played. Guevara said he’s the best wrestler in AEW.

Matt Hardy entered. He said he has no problem with Sammy. He said Sammy is the future and reminds him of a young Matt Hardy.

Hardy said for Sammy to realize his potential he needs to get away from Jericho. Sammy said he can’t trust Hardy because Hardy tried to kill him.

Hardy went from 2020 Matt to Matt Facts Matt to Damascus and said he would eat and delete Sammy.

**********

A Joey Janela video package played.

Janela said he came to AEW to be a star but he’s gone from wrestling Jon Moxley to an afterthought. He said he’s lost his way over the last six months. Janela was shown drinking at a bar.

Janela left the bar and said sometimes he thinks his best days in wrestling are behind him.

Sonny Kiss pulled up in a convertible. Kiss told Janela to get in. To be continued…

I think it’s a good idea to try to rehab Janela’s character. He and Kiss have teamed together on Dark and you can always use more tag teams.

**********

Dasha tracked down Cabana backstage. She asked if Cabana’s defeat has brought him here.

Cabana ignored Dasha and entered Lee’s dressing room.

**********

Billy (w/Austin Gunn) vs. MJF, Omega and PAge vs. Natural Nightmares for the tag titles, a TNT title match, Jericho and Guevara vs. Best Friends for a shot at the tag titles at Fyter Fest and Young Bucks vs. Havoc and Sabian were announced for next week.

**********

Alex Marvez interviewed Jon Moxley in the parking lot.

Moxley said he’s in a bad mood and not just because it hurts to sit on the toilet or because his back and neck hurt. He said it’s because Taz is running his mouth.

Moxley said what sets him apart is that he’s miserable. That misery makes him train harder and hit harder. He said it pisses him off that Taz and Cage think Cage can beat Moxley. He promised to pop Cage’s head like a pimple.

Taz approached and confronted Moxley. Cage then attacked Moxley from behind.

They preceded to have a brawl in the parking lot. Cage hit a spinebuster on Moxley on the hood of a car. He threatened a powerbomb. Taz told Cage not to do it, that they already sent their message.

Cage ignored Taz’s plea and powerbombed Moxley on the trunk of a car.

I liked this angle a lot. It established that even Taz can’t control Cage.

**********

A hype video for the main event played.

Cody put over Quen as a top level opponent. Cody said he wants to prove he’s better bell-to-bell than people give him credit for and that’s why he is doing an open challenge every week.

Cody said his effort needs to be top-shelf.

The main event is next.

**********

Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy entered with Quen but then went to the back.

AEW TNT Championship Match: Cody (w/Arn Anderson) defeated Marq Quen to retain the title

This was a very good match. Cody again played a subtle heel role with his mannerisms and going after Quen’s injured ankle.

Cody and Quen shook hands at the opening bell.

They traded tackles and drop downs. Quen hit a standing moonsault and a dropkick. Cody applied a leg capture dragon sleeper before an ad break. The announcers drew attention to Quen’s storyline ankle injury that was set up a couple of weeks ago.

During the break, Cody tossed Quen outside. Cody stomped on the ankle. Quen went for a springboard attack but sold that his ankle gave out.

After the commercials, Cody posted the left ankle of Quen. Cody hit an inverted superplex off the top rope. Quen came back with a corkscrew DDT. Quen hit two dives over the top rope to the floor.

Cody crawled to the ramp. Quen hit a 450 splash from the top rope to the ramp.

The finish saw Quen go for a shooting star press. Cody side-stepped and Quen crashed to the mat. Cody applied an ankle lock and Quen tapped.

**********

Cody and Quen embraced and shook hands after the match. Quen then left the ring to Cody and Arn.

Jake Hager then entered. Hager went after Arn. Cody went after Hager. Hager dropped Cody with a slam.

Kassidy, Quen and Hardy ran out to make the save. Kassidy and Quen hit Hager with chairs and Hardy clotheslined him to the floor.

Santana, Ortiz and Guevara ran in and a brawl broke out.

Hardy hit Guevara with a twist of fate. Cody hit Hager with a chair.

Cody grabbed a mic. He said he thinks he knows what Hager was after.

Cody said Hager wants a TNT title match at Fyter Fest and he’s on.

It had been a while since they have done one of these Nitro-like brawls to end a show. They’re almost always fun and this was no exception.
