Three more matches have been added to next week’s NXT, including a loser leaves town match.
The Schism, who have show signs of dissension in recent weeks, had a sit-down family meeting on Tuesday’s show. During the interview, The Dyad said they were worse off since they joined The Scism. The Creed Brothers then came out and eventually a match was set up between the two teams for next week where the losers would leave NXT.
Roxanne Perez and Blair Davenport will meet on Tuesday. Davenport has revealed herself as the hooded person who has been seen attacking the women’s roster of NXT around the WWE Performance Center in recent months. She has since set her sights on one of her victims, Perez, distracting her during a number one contender’s battle royal two weeks ago.
Mustafa Ali will face Tyler Bate. Ali refereed a North American Championship match on last week’s NXT, intentionally fast counting and slow counting both Bate and champion Wes Lee. A skit backstage between the three set the stage for next week.
Last week’s WWE Main Event was taped at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, before Monday’s Raw.
Dana Brooke defeated Indi Hartwell (5:13)
This was fine and while it gave Hartwell lots of time, it didn’t really allow her to show off what she can do. Thus, the match was fairly basic.
Hartwell had an inset promo as she headed to the ring, saying that fresh off appearing in her first Royal Rumble match, she was now ticking off another thing on her bucket list: competing in a match on Main Event.
Hartwell is only 25 and seems to be destined to make a run at the main roster soon. The Rumble appearance and now working here are certainly encouraging signs for the Australian.
She and Brooke had a very friendly encounter with lots of smiles, especially in the early exchanges. But it was an uncomplicated match-up with a couple of rear chin locks thrown in for good measure.
Hartwell had a couple of spots, including a spinebuster, but it ran slightly longer than the usual Main Event opener with Brooke finishing her opponent off with a spinning neckbreaker for the win.
Much like they have done with other babyfaces on Main Event in past weeks, Brooke helped Hartwell to her feet and raised her hand as a show of respect.
Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defeated The Creed Brothers (w/ Ivy Nile) (7:29)
This was great in the last few minutes with lots of broken up pin attempts and both teams trying everything to get the win. I give huge credit to Gallows & Anderson who really made the Creeds look excellent here.
Before the match, they aired a backstage segment where Gallows & Anderson were joking around with the Creeds. Ivy Nile interrupted and told them it was time to get serious. Julius and Brutus left first before Nile glared at them both as she left. Anderson joked to Gallows that he thought she liked him.
Gallows & Anderson had a run where they were essentially Main Event regulars back in 2020, so it must feel a little unnerving to have been brought back to the company to end up here again. But, at least their opponents were fresh and interesting here and The Good Brothers were certainly the perfect match to help get the real-life brothers over.
Early on, Julius and Brutus cut the ring in half, working over Anderson to get the heat. Eventually, Gallows broke it up with a blind tag and the pair worked together to send the Creed brothers to the outside as we went to a break.
After the commercials, it was Gallows and Anderson’s turn to dominate as they worked over Brutus to build for the hot tag for Julius. Julius was animated on the apron, jumping up and down, desperate to get in the ring.
When it came, the hot tag was definitely the highlight. Julius was able to show off his speed and strength with Anderson bumping all over for him and giving him loads of offense. The pair built to a false finish where Brutus had Anderson in a piledriver position and Julius leapt over the top of him to nail Anderson with a sliding leg lariat. Anderson barely kicked out before three.
Then, things got completely chaotic and the live crowd loved it. The crux of what happened was Gallows & Anderson looked to be going for the Magic Killer, but Julius fought his way out and dispatched Anderson to the outside. He and Brutus then hit consecutive standing moonsaults, but Anderson broke up the pin attempt.
The finish saw Julius get posted by Gallows so that he and Anderson could finally hit the Magic Killer and get the win while they had the stronger man neutralised and targeted the weaker man. The earlier backstage stuff with Nile never played into anything.
They all shook hands after the replays so that the Creeds could get their hands raised, too. This was good house show stuff.
Final Thoughts:
Another set of fresh faces on Main Event this week made for a very watchable show. I really enjoyed the tag match and would be more than happy for them to do it again next week. The Creeds looked perfectly at home here and a feud with Alpha Academy would be the next obvious move if they stay around the main roster.
Indus Sher and The Creed Brothers will finally meet at New Year’s Evil.
Tuesday’s NXT saw Julius Creed defeat JD McDonagh in a singles match. After the match, Indus Sher (Veer & Sanga) came out and officially challenged the Creeds for a match in two weeks. Julius accepted on behalf of the team, setting the stage for January 10’s special edition of NXT.
The two teams have been feuding for months, first starting when the reformed Indus Sher attacked the brothers back on the October 18 edition of NXT. In storyline, a match between the two teams has yet to take place due to an injury to Brutus. In fact, Indus Sher have gotten involved in Julius’ matches as of late, wanting to make sure The Creed Brothers were at 100% for their eventual match.
Here is the updated lineup for New Year’s Evil:
NXT title: Bron Breakker defends against Grayson Waller
WWE celebrates the one-year anniversary of NXT 2.0 tonight, and in a way the fans get to help book the card.
Fan voting helps to decide the implications for two titles matches on tonight’s card. In the night’s opening match, Pretty Deadly will defend their NXT Tag Team titles against The Creed Brothers inside of a steel cage. Fans voted for the steel cage steel cage stipulation over a tornado tag match or no DQ match.
Fans get to pick the challenger for the other title match on the card. Carmelo Hayes is defending his NXT North American Championship against a mystery opponent tonight. A fan vote will determine whether that opponent is Von Wagner, Wes Lee, or Joe Gacy.
Four other matches have also been announced for the episode. Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark will take on Kiana James & Arianna Grace, Hank Walkers faces Javier Bernal, Fallon Henley faces Lash Legend, and Tony D’Angelo & Stacks will team up against Cameron Grimes and a partner who has yet to be revealed.
Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
**********
No video package intros aside from the “Together” montage. Don’t worry though, there will be plenty of video packages throughout the night.
The show opens with a wide live shot of the soundstage in Orlando. A cage match for the men’s tag titles is kicking off the show.
NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) defeat The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) in a cage match to retain their titles
Pretty Deadly retains after interference by Damon Kemp. He runs in and handcuffs Julius to the cage, allowing Pretty Deadly to double team Brutus.
The rules of the match stipulate a win via pinfall, submission or escaping the cage.
The Creeds started off strong, and they went for a stereo catapults. Pretty Deadly is catapulted into the cage, but they hang on like Spider-Man, and they try to climb out. The Creeds thwart their exit.
Aside from the cage, it is also tornado rules. Lots of tandem moves, including Pretty Deadly with a Dry Martini. Creeds fight back with power moves like a powerbomb into the cage. Julius Creed springboards into a modified Spanish Fly where he lands on his feet.
The melee in the cage continues through a commercial break. After the break, Pretty Deadly give Julius a superduper superplex off the top of the cage.
Brutus fires up with a fury, but Pretty Deadly tries to execute another superplex on Brutus. Julius helps to save Brutus, and the Creeds set up a Doomsday Device of their own. Brutus leaps off the top rope with a cannonball as Julius has both members of Pretty Deadly on his shoulders. On commentary it is called the “Butterball.”
Damon Kemp, who turned on the Creeds at Worlds Collide, runs down. Kemp climbs the cage. Julius stops Kemp, but it was a trap. Kemp slaps handcuffs on Julius, and he cuffs him to the cage, with Julius standing perched on the ropes.
Brutus tries to help free his brother to no avail. Brutus must fight on seemingly alone against Pretty Deadly. Julius for a moment nabs Wilson, but he escapes Julius’ grasp.
Pretty Deadly gives Brutus their Spilt Milk finisher, but Brutus is able to kick out. However, the numbers game is too much for even Brutus. Another delivery of Spilt Milk, and Brutus takes a pinfall. The champions retain, thanks in large part to Damon Kemp.
Wes Lee challenges for a title tonight after winning a fan vote. Lee is now set to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT North American Championship.
Lee is excited for the opportunity, but he understands it is a big responsibility since the fans chose him. Joe Gacy, who lost the fan vote, is there with Lee. Gacy acts weird as usual, but says he accepts the fan vote. He also says he has other things to do.
A video package highlights the NXT roster. It is like a trailer for NXT 2.0 in the middle of the show.
The next match has a special guest at ringside in the babyface corner. In association with Connor’s Cure, a child gets to live a dream as a superstar. He accompanies Fallon Henley to the ring alongside Briggs & Jensen.
Fallon Henley (with Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen & Mason “The Night Howler” Ramirez) defeats Lash Legend
Henley pins Legend in a very short match.
Henley shines at the outset, but she is soon cut off by Legend. Henley is worked over, and Legend applies a Jesse Ventura Body Vice.
Henley makes a comeback, and she springboards off the ropes and lands a bulldog. Henley then lands a shining wizard, and she scores a pinfall on Legend.
Henley is joined by Briggs & Jensen in celebrating after the match with The Night Howler.
Yulisa Leon exits a trainer’s room with a large brace on her right leg. “It’s torn,” she says to her tag team partner, Valentina Feroz. She goes to say she will be out of action for nine months.
Sanga is also there, and he says to turn a negative into a positive. He tells Feroz this is her time, but they are interrupted by Mr. Stone and Von Wagner. Wagner and Sanga go face-to-face, but Wagner eventually backs down.
Briggs & Jensen is walking backstage with Fallon Henley after her win. They run into Toxic Attraction. Henley has words with NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose. This seems to set up a potential match between the two.
Alba Fyre challenges the Women’s Champion
The Toxic Attraction trio head out for an in-ring promo. They brag on themselves. They are interrupted by Alba Fyre. She strolls out with her baseball bat over her shoulder.
Fyre gets in the ring to confront and challenge Rose. Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolan try to jump Fyre, but she swings her bat and nails them like Sting to the NWO in ’97. Fyre then gives Rose a Gory Bomb, and Fyre then climbs the turnbuckles. Jayne and Dolan pull Rose out of the ring before Fyre can jump off the ropes, and the heel trio flees.
Some character development with a video package that features Cora Jade. This works well in portraying Jade as a heel. At the end, she vows to be “the number one woman in the entire industry” in a year.
Wendy Choo is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when they are interrupted by Lash Legend. She was mad about losing her match, but Choo does not want to hear any of it. This would seem to set up a match at some point.
Next on the show is an in-ring debut on NXT 2.0.
Quincy Elliott defeats Sean Gallagher
“The Super Diva” wins a squash match in his 2.0 debut. Gallagher is no match for Elliott, and Elliot easily wins after a Bonsai Drop. This is like a squash on a old episode of Superstars, except with a modern character.
McKenzie Mitchell interviews Cameron Grimes, and she asks who his tag team partner is for tonight. Grimes says the only person he can trust is himself. Apparently, Grimes has no partner. That basically turns the match into a handicap match.
Wes Lee is warming up in a locker room when he is attacked by Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Hayes slams a locker door into Lee’s head. Security pours in to end the sneak attack.
Cameron Grimes & Joe Gacy defeats Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo
Gacy pins Stacks to win the match. Gacy came out mid-way through the match to be Grimes’ partner, despite Grimes objections. The Schism then jump Grimes after the match.
Grimes does well at times on his own in the first half of the match, but the numbers game is too much for him. D’Angelo & Stacks work him over.
Joe Gacy comes to the ring during the match, and he gets in Grimes’ corner. Gacy is apparently going to be an impromptu tag partner for Grimes, yet Grimes won’t tag out.
Grimes makes his own comeback, but a counter sends him falling backwards into his corner. Gacy makes a bling tag, and he runs wild.
Grimes recovers, and he yells at Gacy. Grimes clearly does want Gacy as his partner. Grimes is yelling at Gacy that he does not need his help.
A parade of moves at the finish. Grimes does a running Spanish Fly on Stacks, and then Grimes hits D’Angelo with a Cave In. Gacy delivers the Upside Down World to Stacks, and Gacy covers Stacks for a pinfall.
Grimes again screams at Gacy that he does not need him. The Dyad appear, and they attack Grimes. The Schism trio beat down Grimes.
JD McDonagh is getting a shave in a barber chair. He uses that it in an analogy for a promo on NXT Champion Bron Breakker.
Breakker is then seen in pre-taped sit-down interview with Vic Joseph. Breakker reflects on the past year, which leads up to his championship run. This is good character development, as it helps get Breakker over as the top singles champion on the brand.
Tyler Bate in a backstage interview talks about JD McDonagh. Bate says if McDonagh wants a title match, he should go through Bate first. This seems to set up a number one contender’s match.
Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons defeat Kiania James & Arianna Grace
Lyons pins Grace to win the match.
Stark looks most impressive overall among the others in the match, as Stark seems ready for the main roster from an outsider perspective. For now, the team with Lyons seems like a regular thing going forward.
The match goes through a commercial break, even though they didn’t really have to do so. Yet, they did.
Lyon is knocked off the apron, and she isn’t in her corner when Stark needs to tag out. Nevertheless, Stark makes her own comeback. That might have gotten over better if he hadn’t already seen Grimes make his own comeback earlier.
Stark deliver her modified GTS finisher, and she tags out. Lyons hits Grace with a roundhouse kick, and Lyons follows with by doing the splits into a legdrop. Lyons then covers Grace for a pinfall.
Malik Blade & Edris Enofe were outside the building talking to an unknown subject in a hood. That person was trying to get Blade & Enofe to vote for Gacy as the biggest star. When they declined, they are met by The Dyad. A brawl erupts, and security separates them. Hank Walker is there with the security team, but another member tells Walker they can handle the melee, as Walker has a match up next.
Wes Lee is seen in the trainer’s room being attended to, and him being cleared to wrestle later in remains in question.
A vignette hypes the Oro Mensah, who debuts next week.
Grayson Waller is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. She announces the final four in the fan vote for the biggest NXT star. Mitchell announces Toxic Attraction (who are counted as one I guess), Carmelo Hayes and Nikkita Lyons. Waller interjects to claim he is the fourth pick. Mitchell then says the fourth pick is Bron Breakker. An angry Waller then cuts a promo on the fans and Breakker.
Hank Walker defeats Javier Bernal
Walker wins decisively via pinfall.
Walker saunters out for his entrance dressed in street clothes. Besides no gear, he had no music. The live studio audience cheer him nonetheless.
Walker is like a character from Bill Watts’ Mid-South. Walker fires up on Bernal, take his shirt off, and then mauls Bernal. Walker then pins him.
Although he has no entrance music, Wale’s NXT theme song plays for Walker after the win.
Another video package highlights the past year in NXT.
Sol Ruca is the focus of another vignette set on the beach.
Announced for next Tuesday on NXT:
Number one contender’s match: Tyler Bate vs. JD McDonagh
Best-of-three series: Axiom vs. Nathan Frazier (Axiom leads 1-0)
Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne) vs. Diamond Mine (Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley)
Cora Jade vs. Wendy Choo
Von Wagner vs. Sanga
Oro Mensah debuts
Bron Breakker is voted Biggest Superstar of NXT 2.0.
NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes and Wes Lee head to the ring. They cut promos, as it appears Lee cannot compete tonight.
Interrupting their promo is the entrance of Solo Sikoa. He will replace Lee tonight in the title match, much to the chagrin of Hayes and Williams. Sikoa was recently called up the main roster, as part of the the Bloodline storyline on Smackdown.
Solo Sikoa (subbing for Wes Lee) defeats NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes to win the title
Sikoa pins Hayes to capture the North American title. This is quite a surprise ending, especially with Sikoa on Smackdown. Do Hayes and Williams follow Sikoa to Smackdown looking for revenge?
Sikoa is on fire at the outset, as Hayes bumps and feeds for him. Sikoa gets most of the offense in the match, as he looks dominate.
Sikoa is cut off when Williams interferes, when Williams targets Sikoa’s knee brace. Hayes goes on to work the leg.
Comeback by Sikoa, and he delivers a Samoan Drop and an Umaga splash. Williams interferes again, allowing Hayes to briefly cut off Sikoa. Not for long, as Sikoa fights back with a pop-up Samoan Drop for a near fall.
Williams tries to interfere a third time, but he instead eats a kick from Sikoa. Rock Bottom by Sikoa, and he climbs the turnbuckles. Sikoa leaps off the top rope with a Superfly splash, and Sikoa covers Hayes for a three count.
The announces wonder out loud if the North American title is going to Smackdown. The answers seems to be yes. Maybe Hayes will follow Sikoa to Smackdown looking to regain the title.
Sikoa celebrates by posing with the title belt.
The show itself closes with one final video package highlighting the NXT roster, and possibly signaling the end of the “2.0” branding. The NXT logo (sans 2.0) flashes across the screen with a black and gold color pattern. It ends with a Triple H voiceover where he brings back the catchphrase, “We are NXT.”
WWE has revealed the fan-vote options for two matches set to take place on the September 13 edition of NXT.
As revealed on Tuesday’s show, Pretty Deadly will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships next week against The Creed Brothers. A fan vote will decide what type of match the two teams will have. A Texas Tornado match, No Disqualification match, and Steel Cage match are the three options available for fans to choose from. As of this writing, 68% of fans have voted for it to be a Steel Cage match.
Fans will also be able to vote on who NXT North American Champion, Carmelo Hayes, defends his title against next week. Fans have the option to choose between Joe Gacy, Wes Lee, or Von Wagner. As of this writing, Wes Lee has received 69% of the votes.
WWE NXT on September 13 will be the one-year anniversary of the re-brand to NXT 2.0. The lineup for the show is as follows:
NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) defend against The Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed)
NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes defends against Joe Gacy/Von Wagner/Wes Lee
Tony D’Angelo & Stacks vs. Cameron Grimes & TBA
Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark vs. Arianna Grace & Kiana James
The Tag Team titles will be on the line on Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode.
In a match announced on social media on Thursday, Julius and Brutus Creed of Diamond Mine will put their NXT Tag Team Championship on the line against Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo on the Tuesday, August 2 NXT 2.0 episode.
On this week’s NXT 2.0, D’Angelo, Lorenzo, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro defeated The Creed Brothers, Roderick Strong, and Damon Kemp in the eight-man tag man event to set up the title match.
New Women’s Tag Team Champions will also be crowned on August 2, as a four-way to fill the vacant Women’s Tag titles has been announced for the show as well.
Here is the announced lineup for the show:
WWE NXT, Tuesday, August 2 —
NXT Tag Team Championship: Julius Creed & Brutus Creed (c) vs. Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo
NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship: Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin vs. Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley vs. Katana Chance & Kayden Carter vs. Yulisa Leon & Valentina Feroz
NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose vs. Sarray in a non-title match
Three title matches have been added to next week’s Great American Bash edition of NXT.
Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez will challenge Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne) for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles, while Carmelo Hayes will defend the North American title against Grayson Waller. Meanwhile, The Creed Brothers will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against fellow Diamond Mine members Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp.
Additionally, Wendy Choo will take on Tiffany Stratton, while Trick Williams will face Wes Lee.
Jade and Perez won tonight’s number one contendership match, defeating Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The two teams confronted one another last week, leading to a brawl over who should face Toxic Attraction next.
On this week’s NXT, Grayson Waller asked Hayes if he could sign some memorabilia. Hayes agreed, but later found out that he had unwittingly signed a contract for a title defense.
Roderick Strong and The Creed Brothers confronted one another in a backstage segment on tonight’s show after dissension during a tag team match against The Dyad and Joe Gacy led to a defeat. Strong was upset and challenged The Creeds to a title match for next week.
Here is the lineup so far for next week’s Great American Bash:
WWE NXT Great American Bash, Tuesday, July 5, 8 p.m. Eastern time —
NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Cameron Grimes
NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship: Toxic Attraction (c) vs. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade
NXT North American Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Grayson Waller
NXT Tag Team Championship: Creed Brothers (c) vs. Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp
The Creed Brothers won the NXT Tag Team Championships tonight at In Your House.
The Creeds defeated Pretty Deadly tonight to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Julius rejecting using the NXT Tag Team title and instead planted Kit Wilson with a shooting star press. He followed that with a sliding D clothesline for the win.
Pretty Deadly held the titles for 53 days, last defeating the Creed Brothers in a gauntlet match for the vacant titles that took place on the April 12 edition of NXT.
The Creed Brothers won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic earlier this year, earning themselves a Tag Team title match. However, it wasn’t until Stand & Deliver in April where they were able to get their title match, losing a three-way to Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) and champions MSK.
Despite facing Pretty Deadly on tonight’s show, The Creeds have also been focused on recent tension between themselves and Roderick Strong, the leader of Diamond Mine. He told the Creeds on Tuesday that if they were unable to win the Tag Team titles tonight, they would be out of the group.
WWE has confirmed a new title match for NXT In Your House.
At In Your House, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) will defend their NXT Tag Team titles against The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed). The show will stream live on Peacock/WWE Network on Saturday, June 4.
Pretty Deadly, who are former NXT UK Tag Team Champions, made their NXT 2.0 debut by attacking The Creed Brothers last month. They were revealed as the mystery team that had attacked The Creed Brothers at NXT Roadblock this March.
Pretty Deadly then won the NXT Tag Team titles in a gauntlet match on April 12. The titles had been declared vacant going into that match after Nash Carter of MSK was released by WWE.
The Creed Brothers started the gauntlet match and defeated three straight teams before losing to Pretty Deadly at the end of the match.
Ahead of In Your House, The Creed Brothers are set to take on The Viking Raiders on NXT this Tuesday. It’s a rematch from NXT Spring Breakin’, where The Creed Brothers defeated The Viking Raiders after their Diamond Mine stablemate Roderick Strong interfered in the match and helped them win. The Creed Brothers weren’t happy about Strong getting involved and have vowed to win the right way this time.
Here’s the updated card for NXT In Your House:
NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes defends against Carmelo Hayes
NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly defend against The Creed Brothers
Brutus and Julius Creed of Diamond Mine are this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament winners.
The Creed Brothers defeated MSK in tonight’s Dusty Cup Classic finals that took place at NXT Vengeance Day. The finish had Nash Carter going for a dive on the outside, but was caught by Julius Creed who gave him a spinebuster on the floor. Brutus then connected with a sliding lariat to Carter, covering him to win the tournament.
MSK, who made it to the finals for the second year in row, had defeated Jacket Time and the team of Edris Enofe and Malik Blade to advance to the finals. The Creed Brothers had defeated Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs and the Grizzled Young Veterans prior to tonight.
As a result of The Creed Brothers’ win, they automatically earn a future NXT Tag Team Championship match. The following segment had comments from current champions Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. Aichner congratulated the Creed Brothers on their win as they won an opportunity, but only an opportunity.
The finals for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic have been set for next week’s NXT Vengeance Day.
The Creed Brothers (Brutus and Julius Creed) picked up their semifinal win in the opening of tonight’s NXT, pinning the Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake and Zack Gibson) after Brutus pinned Gibson with a sliding lariat. Later in the show, MSK (Wes Lee and Nash Carter) defeated Malik Blade and Edris Enofe when Lee pinned Enofe following an assisted neckbreaker off the top rope.
After MSK won their match, they and The Creed Brothers argued in the ring in front of the Dusty Cup trophy.
MSK defeated Jacket Time to make it out of the first round, while The Creed Brothers defeated Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs.
Already announced for Vengeance Day next Tuesday is Carmelo Hayes vs. Cameron Grimes for the NXT North American Championship, Toxic Attraction vs. Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, and Bron Breakker vs. Santos Escobar for the NXT Championship.
The first two teams have booked their spots in the men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinals.
The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) and Malik Blade & Edris Enofe booked their spots in the semifinals with first-round wins on tonight’s NXT. The Creed Brothers defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, while Blade & Enofe defeated Legado del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde.
A distraction led to Blade & Enofe getting the upset win over Legado del Fantasma. After Santos Escobar interfered, NXT Champion Bron Breakker made his way down to ringside and laid Escobar out. Blade then rolled up Mendoza as he was distracted by what was going on with Breakker an Escobar.
The Creed Brothers will face either The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) or Andre Chase & Bodhi Hayward in the semifinals. Blade & Enofe will face either MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) or Jacket Time (Kushida & Ikemen Jiro).
The Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Chase & Hayward and MSK vs. Jacket Time are both taking place on NXT next week.
The team that wins the men’s Dusty Classic will get a title shot against NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner).
The women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is also returning for this year. That tournament will begin next month.
This match was not great. Miller’s ring work was weak, both while she was on the offensive and while selling.
Seeing Sareee, now Sarray, brought a smile to my face. An A-List freelancer while in Japan, Sarray should be can’t miss for WWE. Now to figure out why she is on 205 Live.
The match started with Sarray taking control of the arm. Miller rolled around, trying to free herself from Sarray. Eventually she succeeded, connecting with a clothesline before taking the match to the mat. From this point on, Miller had a strong, if unsuspected, stint of offense.
Sarray connected with a kick, sending Miller into the ropes. A dropkick to Miller left her prone. Sarray succeeded in the following pin attempt, leaving her with a victory on her 205 Live debut.
The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) defeated Demetri Jackson & Andrew Longheart
The Creed Brothers, legitimate amateur wrestlers with stellar backgrounds who are part of Diamond Mine, put on a strong display. After crushing their opponents for a couple minutes, Brutus secured the pin.
Not a bad squash, but not an outstanding one either.
Malcolm Bivens cut a promo after the match hyping up the Creed Brothers and Diamond Mine. He challenged anyone on the WWE roster on their behalf.
Grayson Waller defeated Trey Baxter
This, just like everything else on tonight’s card, was fine at best. Almost inoffensive to a point of offense.
After a flip and roll filled opening sequence, a rana from Baxter opened up Waller for an offensive sequence. A backbreaker put a pause to Baxter’s early lead.
Waller’s offense was longer-lived than Baxter’s. After an elbow drop, Waller took the match to the mat.
Baxter rolled through what seemed like a piledriver attempt, landing a DDT. This, again, allowed Baxter to connect with a flurry of offense, punctuated with a pair of beautiful dives, one outside and one in. Waller kicked out of the pin attempt that followed. This marked the end of Baxter’s offense, however, as Waller connected with his finish following a moment of separation to abruptly close the match.
