UFC 321 live results: Aspinall vs. Gane, Jandiroba vs. Dern

The annual October trip for the Octagon to Abu Dhabi for a major pay-per-view event is upon us as two title fights headline UFC 321 at the Etihad Arena.

The main event sees UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall making his first title defense since being named the undisputed champion as he defends against former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane. Aspinall had two title wins in interim titles, and has won three straight fights overall. Gane gets another chance at becoming champion on the heels of two straight wins.

The co-main event will see a new champion crowned at 115 pounds as Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern rematch for the vacant UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship. The title became vacant after Zhang Weili decided to move to 125 pounds. Dern holds a win over Jandiroba, coming in December 2020.

The rest of the main card features fights all between ranked fighters as Umar Nurmagomedov battles Mario Bautista in a bantamweight bout; Alexander Volkov squares off against Jailton Almeida in a potential title eliminator bout in the heavyweight division; and Aleksandar Rakic takes on Azamat Murzakanov in a light heavyweight tilt.

> Women’s Strawweights- Jaqueline Amorim (10-1, 4-1 UFC) vs. Mizuki Inoue (15-6, 2-1 UFC)

Amorim rushing forward and both are landing early. Amorim lands a leg kick then a body kick. Inoue lands a right hand as Amorim is throwng kicks. Inoue controlling the range. Amorim scores a takedown. They scramble up and Amorim gets the back and drags it back down. Amorim is working for a choke and has it locked in at a weird angle, and Inoue is able to get out, though Amorim gets the full mount. Inoue is able to reverse and now is inside the guard of Amorim and landing. Inoue lands some big shots that hurt Amorim to end the round. 10-9 Inoue.

They trade to start the second. Amorim lands a right hand but is circling around. Amorim shoots for a takedown but Inoue sprawls. They clinch against the fence and Inoue is landing some short shots. Inoue gets a takedown and works from the half-guard. They get to their feet, but Amorim pulls guard and Inoue is back on top landing punches and elbows. Inoue postures up and lands as she gets back inside the guard of Amorim. Amorim looks for an arm but Inoue escapes and lands. 10-9 Inoue, 20-18 Inoue.

They trade and clinch up and Amorim lands some knees, but Inoue gets it back down to the mat. Inoue lands from the top before standing and Amorim is slow to get to her feet. They trade and a headbutt opens up a cut on Inoue. Inoue lands some body shots and Amorim looks for a takedown, but Inoue defends and ties up against the fence. Inoue lands some knees. Amorim falls to the mat and looks for a leg, but Inoue backs off, and Amorim is again slow to her feet. Inoue lands and Amorim shoots for a takedown, but Inoue defends. Inoue lands from the top. Inoue takes the back and lands as they get up. They are clinched against the fence and Inoue is landing. Inoue landing lots as they end it. 10-9 Inoue, 30-27 Inoue.

Raposo lands a big right hand. They trade punches as both are generally missing on their offense. Maksum lands a leg kick. Raposo lands a solid jab. Raposo puts some strikes together but they barely land. Maksum changes levels and scores a takedown. They get to their feet and Maksum gets it down for a moment, but they stand with Maksum on the back and landing some knees. Not much is happening as Maksum is just leaning on Raposo against the fence. Maksum lands as they break. Maksum lands a leg kick. 10-9 Maksum.

They trade and Maksum lands a leg kick. Raposo lands a solid combo and then lands an overhand right. Maksum fakes a takedown. They trade inside the pocket. Raposo lands again and ends with a right hand. Maksum lands a jab to the body and Raposo throws a combo that barely lands. Maksum shoots big for a takedown but Raposo slides away easily to defend. Raposo throws a right hand, but Maksum ducks under and gets a brief takedown. They scramble up and Maksum has the back against the fence. Maksum is dropping down and trying to get it down and briefly did as Raposo scrambles right back up. Raposo is able to force a separation. Raposo lands a combo. Raposo lands a right hand. Maksum looks for a takedown, but Raposo defends. Maksum shoots for a takedown and pushes it against the fence. Raposo is defending and Maksum drops down, and Raposo is able to escape. They trade. Raposo lands a left hook. Maksum shoots for a takedown but Rapsoo defends and grabs the neck and gets on top. Maksum grabs the fence and uses it to reverse, but the referee calls timeout to take the position away and takes a point away from Maksum. Maksum shoots for a takedown but Raposo defends, and Raposo puts it against the fence. Maksum gets a brief takedown late, but Raposo gets right up. 10-8 Raposo, 29-27 Raposo.

Abdelwahab lands a body kick and then scores a takedown. He lands from the top and Barnett gives up his back. Abdelwahab is landing lots of punches as Barnett gets up. Abdelwahab drags it back down. Abdelwahab with more right hands as Barnett gets to his feet, but Abdelwahab drags it down again. They get up and Abdelwahab gets it back down. Abdelwahab has the back and lands but Barnett scrambles up and they trade. Abdelwahab gets another takedown and has the back as Barnett is cut open around the ear. Abdelwahab with some big punches. Abdelwahab lands an elbow to the back of the head and Marc Goddard stops it and warns Abdelwahab as timeout is called. Abdelwahab has a point taken away. They get back going and Abdelwahab looks for a takedown, but Barnett defends and lands some knees. Abdelwahab lands a pair of elbows before they break. They trade clubbing right hands. Barnett lands a right hand. Abdelwahab lands some kicks and a right hand. 9-9 round due to the point deduction to Abdelwahab.

Barnett lands a right hand and they trade leg kicks with Barnett landing a few more. They trade and Abdelwahab gets a takedown and has back control. Abdelwahab with lots of punches from the back as Barnett gets to his feet. Abdelwahab grabs the body and takes it right back down. Abdelwahab with lots of shots on the ground as Barnett is just crawling around but not escaping. Both are exhausted. Abdelwahab lands a leg kick and follows with a jab. They tie up against the fence and Abdelwahab lands a knee. Abdelwahab trips it back down to the mat. Rebecki shoots in and Klein lands a knee, though Rebecki is still able to get the body lock. Rebecki has the leg but Klein is able to escape and they break to the center. Rebecki lands a front kick and Klein lands a left hand. Klein lands to the body as Rebecki rushed in. Klein lands a combination and then ends it with a head kick that Rebecki eats. They trade as both land left hands and Klein defends a takedown attempt from Rebecki. Rebecki grabs the body and is able to score a takedown. Klein forces it up rather quickly though Rebecki has back control. They go back to the mat as Rebecki is landing lots of punches from the back. Klein looks a little hurt as Rebecki continues to land left hands from the top. Rebecki with a big elbow from the top and he continues to land left hands, mixing to the head and body. Klein lands an elbow from the bottom that opens Rebecki up and Rebecki is leaking blood badly. Rebecki still working and looks for the crucifix position. Klein is able to defend the position. They trade leg kicks and Aliskerov lands a groin strike. Timeout is called but Park is quickly ready to go. Aliskerov with a jab to the body as Park lands a leg kick. Aliskerov lands a jab and Park lands a right hand. They trade punches. Aliskerov lands a high body kick. Park lands a combination. Aliskerov works the jab. Salkilld then lands a head kick and Haqparast goes down out cold! What a brutal knockout by Salkilld!

Rakic shoots for a takedown and pushes it against the fence. Rakic with some knees before they separate. Rakic with a right hand and a leg kick. He lands a body kick then a leg kick before grabbing a single leg and looking to get it down. Murzakanov rolls through and they get to their feet. Murzakanov drops Rakic with a short right hand and Rakic is covering up as Murzakanov comes in and lands and it is all over! Big finish from Murzakanov to pick up the win.

Almeida shoots right away and they go to the mat as Almeida is attacking a leg. Volkov with some elbows from the bottom but is warned to watch the back of the head. Almeida is attacking for the arm-triangle choke but Volkov is defending. There really isn’t any action coming from Almeida. Volkov trying to escape from the bottom. Volkov reverses to the top and lands some short elbows. Volkov stands as Almeida is really doing nothing. Volkov lands some punches from the top. Volkov lands some more short elbows and some right hands at the end. 10-9 Volkov.

Almeida lands a right hand and immediately drops down and scores a takedown. He is inside the guard of Volkov. Almeida moves to the half-guard and is just holding and not doing anything at all. Volkov throws an elbow from the bottom. Almeida gets the back and they almost scramble up but Almeida drags it back down. They are stood up by Marc Goddard, but Almeida immediately takes it back down and lands a few shots from the top. Almeida ends the round on top. 10-9 Almeida, 19-19.

Nurmagomedov immediately gets a takedown and they get right up with Nurmagomedov on the back. He immediately gets it back down but Bautista is attacking a toe hold but Nurmagomedov is able to get out of the position. Nurmagomedov is in side control landing some left hands. They start scrambing and Nurmagomedov gets the neck. Nurmagomedov gets back inside the guard of Bautista and is smothering him. Nurmagomedov gets side control against the fence and lands a big elbow before Bautista gives up his back. Nurmagomedov has the body triangle locked on and is landing as Bautista is defending his neck. 10-9 Nurmagomedov.

Bautista lands a big knee and Nurmagomedov goes down but he quickly gets up. Bautista is pressing forward. Nurmagomedov lands a left hand and scores a takedown. Aspinall lands a body kick. Gane with side kicks to the legs and Aspinall lands a right hand. Gane lands a left hand. Aspinall shoots for a takedown but Gane defends. Aspinall with a head kick that Gane mostly blocks. Gane with a quick jab. Aspinall with a spin kick. Aspinall lands a right hand. Gane with a jab and Aspinall lands a body kick. They trade in close as Gane lands a jab. Aspinall with a heavy leg kick. Aspinall lands a left hand as Gane lands a kick and also pokes Aspinall in the eye, so timeout is called. He was actually poked in both eyes and Aspinall is saying he can’t see. The doctors are called in and Aspinall says he still can’t see and the fight is stopped. This is such a bad way to end it as it will be a no contest.

UFC on ESPN+ 84 live results: Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac

The Octagon remains overseas this week as UFC action returns to France for UFC On ESPN+ 84: Gane vs. Spivac, taking place from the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

In the main event, it’s a heavyweight battle as former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane looks to bounce back into the win column in his home country when he takes on Serghei Spivac. Gane is coming off a title fight loss to Jon Jones in March, while Spivac comes in riding a three-fight win streak.

In the co-main event, it’s another pivotal bout in the women’s flyweight division as Manon Fiorot takes on former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas, who makes the move to 125 pounds for the first time. The Octagon is back in the T-Mobile Arena with a massive card, featuring two title fights and the long-awaited return of arguably the greatest fighter in UFC history.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones returns to action after a three-year absence as he looks to add another title to his storied history when he takes on Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Championship. The title became vacant following Francis Ngannou’s exit from the UFC after he was unable to come to terms on a new contract. Jones hasn’t fought since UFC 247 in February 2020, while Gane, a former interim heavyweight champion, is coming off a win over Tai Tuivasa in September.

In the co-main event, it is a second title fight as long-time UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko makes her eighth title defense against challenger Alexa Grasso. Shevchenko is coming off her closest battle to date, as she retained the title in a split decision over Taila Santos in June, her ninth straight win. Grasso comes into her title challenge riding a four-fight win streak, which have all come since moving up to the flyweight division.

The rest of the main card is filled with exciting match-ups. Welterweights Geoff Neal and Shavkat Rakhmonov square off in a battle of potential title challengers, Mateusz Gamrot takes a short-notice opportunity against Jalin Turner in a lightweight fight, and highly-touted prospect Bo Nickal makes his UFC debut against Jamie Pickett in a middleweight bout.

The prelims are loaded with a lot of notable names. Among those on the prelim card include former UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt, Derek Brunson, Viviane Araujo, Jessica Penne, Amanda Ribas, and rising prospects Dricus Du Plessis, Ian Garry and Cameron Saaiman.

Jon Jones to fight for UFC heavyweight title, Francis Ngannou now free agent

Former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon in March and will do so in a fight for the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship.

Announced by Dana White following Saturday’s UFC Fight Night event, Jones will take on former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at March’s UFC 285 in Las Vegas.

Francis Ngannou, the reigning heavyweight champion, is now a free agent after a long dispute with the company over a new contract. White claimed they offered him a deal that would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the company, but they could not come to terms. He said they would release him from his contract and waive their option to match other offers.

Ngannou last fought in January 2022 in a win over Gane to unify the titles. He then had knee surgery that kept him out of action the entire year. He has talked about boxing previously in hopes of bigger paydays. 

The 35-year-old Jones hasn’t fought since a controversial February 2020 unanimous decision win over Dominick Reyes to retain his title. Since then, he had his own disputes with the company over money, but White said Jones has signed a new eight-fight contract.

Jones had talked about moving up to heavyweight frequently and now weighs a reported 255 pounds. He has only been defeated once in a 28-fight career with the one defeat coming in an odd 2009 disqualification loss vs. Matt Hamill. 

Gane comes into the fight with an 11-1 record with the one loss to Ngannou. He last competed in September 2022 and defeated Tai Tuivasa by third round knockout.

While Jones hasn’t made news inside the cage in nearly three years, he has made plenty outside it.

Since he last fought, Jones, who has run afoul of both the law and USADA several times, has been in trouble with the law twice, once in New Mexico in March 2020 for aggravated DWI, possession of a firearm and other charges and again in September 2021 in a more visible case in Las Vegas for domestic battery with his now-ex fiance that was later dropped. That also included him being arrested and banging his head against a police car and challenging officers to a fight.

In both cases, he served no jail time.

The Octagon debuts in France for a long-awaited and much-anticipated first event to be held in Paris, a show that has been years in the making, and it brings along a heavyweight main event featuring one of the country’s most popular home fighters.

In the main event, former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane looks to get back into the win column, and back into title contention, as he takes on streaking knockout artist Tai Tuivasa in a five-round affair. Gane is looking to rebound from a title unification loss to Francis Ngannou in January, while Tuivasa is on a five-fight win streak, all coming by knockout, after finishing Derrick Lewis in February.

In the co-main event, former UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker also looks to get back into title contention as he faces former title challenger Marvin Vettori. Also on the main card is a middleweight bout between Nassourdine Imavov and Joaquin Buckley, a middleweight battle pitting Alessio Di Chiricio against Roman Kopylov, and an exciting featherweight match-up between Charles Jourdain and Nathaniel Wood.

Egger stands and moves to side control. They scramble to the feet and Perez scores a brief takedown but they stand. They go to the mat as Egger has an arm and Egger ends up in side control and lands some punches. They get to their feet. Perez lands a flurry against the fence. They clinch at the end. 10-9 Egger.

They exchange to start the second and Perez gets the better of it before they clinch. They trade knees and Perez went for a takedown but Egger reversed though Perez ends up on top in side control. They get to their feet and Egger is on the single leg but lets go. Egger gets a takedown and is landing from the top. Egger gets the back and lands some punches as she looks to get the hooks in. She has back control and is looking for a choke. She gets a rear-naked choke locked in and Perez taps with seconds left in the round. Nice finish for Egger.

Miranda lands some right hands. Saint-Denis lands a spinning back fist that makes Miranda slip but he gets up and they trade until Saint-Denis gets a takedown. Saint-Denis lands from the top and stands and Miranda is ordered up. Saint-Denis lands a flurry and Miranda goes down and Saint-Denis gets on top and is landing with punches and elbows. Saint-Denis stands and Miranda is ordered up. Saint-Denis lands a flurry and Miranda falls down but is able to survive the round. 10-8 Saint-Denis.

They trade to start off until Wood scores a takedown. They scramble to their feet and Jourdain almost grabbed the fence but they separate. Jourdain with a big knee and lands a combo. Jourdain lands a left hand. There was a groin strike and a timeout. Wood lands a right hand that hurts Jourdain after they got back to action but didn’t capitalize. They trade and have a brief clinch before breaking. Wood lands a combo and is landing more as the round ends. 10-9 Wood.

They’re trading to start start the second and both land pretty evenly. Jourdain with a left hand. Wood gets a takedown and is working from the top but not doing a ton. He is warned to work and they are eventually stood up. Jourdain with some leg kicks and lands a left hand. Jourdain landing more inside the pocket. Both land in close range. Gomis gets into the guard of Errens  and lands some punches but there isn’t a ton of action happening. They get to their feet and break and Gomis lands some body kicks. 10-9 Gomis.

They trade before a brief clinch then break. Gomis with a body kick. They trade and Errens lands a right hand that hurts Gomis. Gomis tries a takedown as Errens lands a knee. Gomis then scores the takedown. Gomis is working from the top as he pushes it to the fence but they get up. Both are throwing and land. They tie up. Errens with a judo throw takedown but Gomis is able to reverse at the end. 10-9 Gomis, 20-18 Gomis.

They trade to start the third and both are landing punches. They tie up against the fence and both land to the body and Gomis gets a takedown. Gomis landing from the top. Gomis landing to the body and then lands some elbows as Errens is doing little from the bottom. Errens now goes or a triangle choke and has it in deep. Gomis is fighting but Errens has the arm as well. Gomis is fighting it and is able to escape and he gets back to side control as the fight ends. 10-9 Gomis, 30-27 Gomis.

Kopylov landing slightly more here but not a ton of action. Kopylov lands an elbow and Di Chirico stumbles back. Kopylov with a flying knee. 10-9 Kopylov.

Buckley lands some body and leg kicks early on. Imavov looks to attack and they clinch but break. Buckley lands a combo. Imavov lands a couple of kicks. Buckley lands a combo. Both are throwing a lot but neither landing at a high percentage. Buckley with a hard leg kick. Buckley goes for a takedown but Imavov gets on top and in the mount and lands before taking the back and lands as time runs out on the round. 10-9 Imavov.

Both are throwing and Imavov is using his reach and range to keep Buckley from landing. Imavov gets warned for fighting with his fingers out forward after there’s an eye poke on Buckley. They get back to action and Buckley with a left hand. Imavov lands a right hand as Buckley comes forward. Imavov gets a takedown and has the back and the body triangle in. He’s looking for a choke but doesn’t have it under the chin. Imavov still working for it as he’s squeezing. Welcome to F4WOnline.com’s live coverage of UFC 270: Ngannou vs. Gane, emanating from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

The UFC kicks off their 2022 pay-per-view schedule with this event as the Octagon returns to California for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic began, bringing two title fights, with one being a major unification bout and the other marking the end of a trilogy.

In the main event, UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou and Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane square off in a unification bout to determine the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Champion. The story of the two has been well documented, as they’re former training partners. There has also been a lot of talk surrounding Ngannou and his future, as this is the last fight on his current UFC contract.

In the co-main event, it is the trilogy bout for the UFC Flyweight Championship, as current champion Brandon Moreno makes his first title defense against the man he defeated for it, Deiveson Figueiredo. These two first met in December 2020 at UFC 256, a fight that went to a draw. They re-matched in June at UFC 263, where Moreno scored the upset in submitting Figueiredo in the third round.

Also on the main card is a welterweight bout between the always exciting Michel Pereira and newcomer Andre Fialho, a bantamweight bout as Cody Stamann takes on Said Nurmagomedov, and a welterweight bout between UFC newcomer Michael Morales and Trevin Giles.

Gravely trying to defend. Gravely pops his head out and lands some right hands from the top. Gravely still landing from the top as they work their way to the feet. Oliveira grabs the neck and Gravely takes him down and gets his neck out and lands from the top. Gravely has the back. They stand. They break and both land. Ciryl Gane wins interim heavyweight title at UFC 265

Ciryl Gane defeated Derrick Lewis by third round TKO at UFC 265 Saturday night to take home the interim heavyweight title, spoiling Lewis’ return to his hometown of Houston, Texas.

The undefeated Gane (10-0) was in control from start to finish, using speed and smarts to dodge Lewis’ dangerous attacks that flattened previous opponents. He now likely moves on to fight heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou if he and the UFC can rebuild a bridge that was burned in failed negotiations with Jon Jones and then this fight being made.

The beginning of the end came in the third round when Gane landed a kick flush to Lewis’ lead leg. Lewis was clearly which allowed the confident Gane to come inside with a jab that opened up a two-punch combo that opened up the door. He landed hard uppercuts to a covered up Lewis who still tried to fight back with power uppercuts and pull off another incredible upset.

It was not to be as Gane evaded those shots and landed a head kick to a waning Lewis who eventually slumped after a punch to his left eye that he was complaining earlier was poked. After some heavy hammer punches from Gane to a covered up Lewis, the fight was stopped.

This was Gane’s sixth UFC fight since debuting in August 2019. The loss snapped a four-fight win streak for Lewis who was getting his second UFC heavyweight title opportunity.

The Octagon makes a quick return to Houston after hosting UFC 262 in May, with this event headlined by a hometown hero looking to strap some UFC gold around his waist, albiet not an official undisputed title.

Houston’s own Derrick Lewis will take on Ciryl Gane in a bout for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship in the main event. This fight came together after UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou was unavailable to fight on this show, and the promotion was heavily criticized for putting this together. Lewis comes into this fight riding a four-fight win streak, while Gane is undefeated in his career. Gane, though, is coming in on a short camp, as he just fought six weeks ago.

In the co-main event, former UFC and WEC Featherweight Champion and future Hall Of Famer Jose Aldo takes on Pedro Munhoz in a bantamweight bout that will keep the winner in the title picture. Also on the main card is a pivotal welterweight bout between Michael Chiesa and Vicente Luque, a strawweight rematch between Tecia Torres and Angela Hill, and a battle of bantamweight prospects as Song Yadong battles Casey Kenney.

Lewis vs. Gane interim heavyweight title fight set for UFC 265

With Francis Ngannou unavailable to fight in the UFC’s desired timeframe, the promotion is moving forward with a Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane interim heavyweight title fight that will headline UFC 265 on August 7th.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto first reported the news that Ngannou was unable to defend his title in June or August due to traveling and Dana White thought both Lewis and Gane were worthy of title shots.

Okamoto got a quote from Ngannou’s agent that said they were in complete shock about the news considering the history of the division. Ngannou tweeted, “I remember my interim title fight against Jairzinho …. oh wait: — a nod to his desire to have his May 2020 fight against Jair Rozenstruik for the interim title due to then-champion Stipe Miocic not wanting to fight due to COVID-19. 

The last interim heavyweight title awarded was to Fabricio Werdum for his defeat of Mark Hunt at UFC 180 in November 2014. 

Lewis (seen above) is riding a four-fight win streak and last knocked out Curtis Blaydes in February. Gane defeated Alexander Volkov on Saturday via unanimous decision to get his record to a perfect 9-0.

The event will be held in Houston, Texas — the hometown of Lewis. The co-main event features two-division champion Amanda Nunes defending the bantamweight title against Julianna Pena.

Ngannou defeated Stipe Miocic for the title by second round knockout in March. Discussions of a title fight vs. former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones stalled due to Jones asking for more money for the superfight and the UFC having no interest in meeting his demands.

The UFC wraps up a busy June with their fourth straight week of events before taking a week off, with this card headlined by a pivotal heavyweight bout.

Heavyweight contenders Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov square off in the five-round headliner, which will have some title implications riding in it. The winner could be next in line, or at-worst one more fight away, for the heavyweight title. Gane comes into this fight with a perfect record, winning all eight of his career fights. Volkov looks to get that elusive UFC title shot as he looks to extend his two-fight win streak.

Also on the main card is a short-notice heavyweight bout pitting Tanner Boser against Ovince Saint Preux, a bantamweight bout with Raoni Barcelos taking on Timur Valiev, an exciting featherweight match-up as Andre Fili takes on Daniel Pineda, a potential welterweight slugfest between Tim Means and Nicolas Dalby, and a lightweight battle with Renato Moicano against Jai Herbert.

Big punches from Wells. Wells lands a couple of elbows and then stands and backs off. Alves gets to his feet and eats a big left hand from Wells. They’re clinched up against the fence. They break and Wells with some right hands. They trade in close range. They clinch and Wells warned to not grab the cage. Alves tries a guillotine but Wells escapes and is on his back and Alves got to his feet. 10-9 Wells.

Wells wobbles Alves with a right hand early as they were both throwing. Wells lands a right hand as Alves was turning and Alves goes to the mat. Alves tries to scramble up but Wells teeing off and Alves goes back down and Wells finishes it off with big punches. What a finish by Wells in his UFC debut.

Rakhmonov gets a takedown and is now in the guard of Prazeres. Rakhmonov landing from the top. Rakhmonov with more punches and he stands and goes back into the guard and landing right hands that hurt Prazeres. They stand and Rakhmonov with a knee to the body. They’re clinched and Rakhmonov with more knees to the body. 10-9 Rakhmonov.

He gets the back of Prazeres and locks in a rear-naked choke and Prazeres taps. Excellent performance from Rakhmonov here.

Marques still working and is looking for the choke. Nzechukwu still defending. They finish the round in this position. 10-9 Marques.

Marques with a leg kick. Nzechukwu lands a right hand. Marques looks for a takedown but Nzechukwu sees it and circles away. Nzechukwu with a left hand. Nzechukwu lands a couple of left hands. Marques goes for a takedown and gets the back standing. Marques drags Nzechukwu to the mat. Marques working for a choke and they’re talking to each other on the mat. They get to their feet and break. Nzechukwu with a combo and lands to the body. Marques tries a takedown to no success. Nzechukwu with some punches and Marques is only trying for the takedown. Marques is able to get the back though. Nzechukwu gets out of it and lands somebig punches at the end of the round. 10-9 Nzechukwu, 19-19.

Nzechukwu landing big punches to start the third and he is teeing off. Marques is covering up standing but Nzechukwu is just unloading and it is stopped standing. He knew Marques was in trouble at the end of the second and Nzechukwu just came out firing to get the finish.

Moicano moves to side control and then back to the half-guard as he’s looking to set up a choke. Moicano gets to the mount. He’s landing punches from the top and they scramble up. They break. Herbert lands a right hand. They trade punches. Herbert lands a left hook. Herbert with a leg kick and Moicano gets him back down and gets right back into the mount. Moicano with some big right hands from the top. He ends the round on top. 10-9 Moicano.

Moicano gets Herbert down to the ground and they’re scrambling and Moicano ends up in the mount. Moicano landing from the top but they get to their feet and Moicano has the back standing. Moicano drags him down and has the back. He was trying for the choke but Herbert escapes and Moicano gets back in the mount. Moicano being aggressive from the top and is still looking for the choke. Means with a combo and Dalby falls to the mat but quickly gets up and they’re clinched. They break. Dalby tries a late takedown but Means defends. 10-9 Means.

They trade to start the second and Means with a leg kick. Means with a couple of left hands to the body. They clinch. They break and Dalby lands a right hand. They clinch and Means with some elbows and lands to the body as they break. They continue to trade and both land some good shots. Means with a left hand that backs Dalby up to the fence and he lands some sharp elbows. Dalby tries a takedown but Means sprawls and is in side control. Means ends the round in control. 10-9 Means, 20-18 Means.

They’re trading big shots to start the third and Dalby rocks Means with a right hand and Means tries for a takedown but they clinch against the fence. They trade knees in the clinch. They continue to battle for clinch control. They both land and they break and Dalby with a body kick and lands some punches as Means pushes it back against the fence. Dalby landing more. Pineda tries a takedown and Fili gets a big takedown but stands and lets Pineda get up. Pineda with a leg kick. Pineda with a big cut over his left eye. Fili with a body kick that hurts Pineda and they go to the mat and Fili with some big punches and Pineda locks him in the guard. Fili ends the round on top. 10-9 Fili.

Fili lands a left hand and then a body kick. They were trading and we have a timeout for an eye poke on Pineda. The doctor is checking on Pineda and he’s having trouble seeing. They give him a little time and he says he’s good but they still decide to stop the fight. It’ll be a no contest. That’s a shame as they were having a great fight and Fili was looking fantastic.

The UFC closes out a busy month of February with its third heavyweight headliner in the four events this month, which could clear up the title picture even further in the division.

Knockout artists Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane square off in the five-round main event. Both men are coming off knockout wins over Junior Dos Santos, as Rozenstruik defeated him at UFC 252 in August, and Gane got his win over him at UFC 256 in December. Rozenstruik has been impressive in the UFC, with his lone loss coming to Francis Ngannou, but Gane has yet to taste defeat in his young seven-fight career.

In the co-main event, Nikita Krylov looks for his second straight win against Magomed Ankalaev, winner of five straight, in an exciting light heavyweight match-up. Also on the main card is a women’s flyweight bout between Montana De La Rosa and Mayra Bueno Silva, bantamweights Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera square off in a rematch of a November 2015 bout won by Rivera, and a featherweight bout between Alex Caceres and Kevin Croom.

Cachero was looking for a submission from the bottom but Lawrence scrambles out and keeps Cachero on the mat. They scramble up and Lawrence looked for the neck but they broke. Lawrence lands a leg kick and Cachero crumbles to the mat but gets right back up. Lawrence gets another takedown but Cachero pops right back up. Cachero lands a nice right hand and Lawrence decides to take him back down. Cachero trying to work for a triangle. Lawrence with some elbows from the top. They trade to start the second and Lawrence coming out aggressive and lands a leg kick, then a body kick and then a head kick. Lawrence with a left hand and Cachero counters with a leg kick. Lawrence gets a takedown and working from the side. They scramble but Lawrence able to keep Cachero down. Cachero works his way to the feet but Lawrence takes him right back down. Cachero gets the neck and tries for a guillotine but Lawrence rolls out to escape. Cachero now looking for a D’Arce choke. Lawrence escapes and has the back of Cachero and gets another takedown. Lawrence ends the round on top. 10-9 Lawrence, 20-18 Lawrence.

Lawrence lands a spinning back kick, then a leg kick that trips Cachero up and gets a takedown right away to start the third and is working from the top. Lawrence landing lots of shots from the top as Cachero gives up his back. Lawrence landing tons of punches and this fight could be stopped. The referee letting it go on too long and he finally stops it as Lawrence gets the finish. What a performance by Lawrence!
