UFC on ESPN 61 live results: Marcin Tybura vs. Serghei Spivac 2

The Octagon is back in Sin City this weekend as UFC action returns to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for UFC on ESPN 61.

Headlining this weekend’s card is a rematch between top-ten ranked heavyweights as eighth-ranked Marcin Tybura battles ninth-ranked Serghei Spivac. The two first fought in February 2020, a fight Tybura won by decision. Tybura has gone 7-2 since that fight, winning three of his last four, while Spivac has gone 6-2 since then, looking to get back into the win column after suffering a loss in his last fight.

Also on the main card is a featherweight bout between Damon Jackson and Chepe Mariscal; welterweight prospect Danny Barlow battles debuting Nikolay Veretennikov; Chris Gutierrez takes on short-notice opponent Quang Le in his debut in bantamweight action; and a battle of ranked women’s bantamweights as Yana Santos takes on Chelsea Chandler.

Zalal lands a leg kick as Errens lands a body jab. They trade leg kicks and Errens lands a right hand to the body. Errens with an uppercut. Errens with a combination. We have a quick timeout for an eye poke. They get back to action and trade. Zalal shoots for a takedown but the fence blocks it. Zalal gets a takedown then quickly takes the back. Errens stands and Zalal is on his back. Zalal working for a choke and has it in and Errens taps! Impressive finish from Zalal.

Rosa with another calf kick. She lands another leg kick. Rosa with a right hand then a leg kick. They trade left hands. Kianzad lands a right hand. Rosa lands a leg kick. Kianzad with a right hand then a left hook. Rosa with an inside leg kick. Kianzad with some left hands. Rosa with a combination. Kianzad stumbles as she’s having trouble standing. Kazama immediately goes for the takedown as he pushes it against the fence. Kazama tries to trip it down as he keeps back control. Kazama lands a knee but Grigoriou had his hand down, so it is still illegal for now. They get back to action and Kazama goes right back for the takedown as he has the back. Kazama gets it down. He is attacking and landing from the back and looks for a triangle choke. Grigoriou is able to escape. Kazama is able to sweep to the top. Kazama trying to tie up an arm and has to take the back as Grigoriou scrambled. Kazama lands from the back. 10-9 Kazama.

Grigoriou rushes in and lands. He lands two left hands and drops Kazama with a left hand. Grigoriou with some big elbows from the top. He lands some more big elbows. Kazama survives for now and lands some short punches from the bottom. Kazama looks for a triangle choke and has it locked in and Grigoriou taps! Wow, what a finish from Kazama after nearly getting finished here in the second.

Spivac lands a right hand that puts Tybura off balance for a moment. Spivac lands and grabs the back on the feet and drags it down. Spivac looking for the body triangle but Tybura reverses to inside of Spivac’s guard. Spivac grabs the arm and locks in an armbar and he gets Tybura to tap! A finish out of nowhere by Spivac gets him the win.

UFC on ESPN+ 84 live results: Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac

The Octagon remains overseas this week as UFC action returns to France for UFC On ESPN+ 84: Gane vs. Spivac, taking place from the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

In the main event, it’s a heavyweight battle as former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane looks to bounce back into the win column in his home country when he takes on Serghei Spivac. Gane is coming off a title fight loss to Jon Jones in March, while Spivac comes in riding a three-fight win streak.

In the co-main event, it’s another pivotal bout in the women’s flyweight division as Manon Fiorot takes on former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas, who makes the move to 125 pounds for the first time. Also on the main card is a lightweight bout between Benoit Saint-Denis and Thiago Moises, as well as a light heavyweight battle as Volkan Oezdemir takes on the debuting Bogdan Guskov.

Basharat landing punches from the top. Rodrigues is able to sweep to the feet. They’re tied up and Rodrigues lands a knee. Basharat gets another takedown. Basharat with an elbow from the top. He lands several more elbows. He lands more and is looking for an arm-triangle choke. He gets it in and Rodrigues taps! Great finish from Basharat as he remains undefeated.

The UFC kicks off a busy stretch, with the first of four events taking place in February, with a heavyweight main event and the final fights of the Road To UFC series on a fight card with a late start.

Former title challenger Derrick Lewis gets back to action, looking to end a two-fight losing skid, when he takes on Serghei Spivac, winner of two straight, in the five-round headline bout. These two were scheduled to fight in November, but their fight was cancelled on the day of the show after Lewis fell ill and had to be taken to the hospital. Both are looking to get into the title picture with a win here.

The rest of the card features a lot of Asian talent, as this card was originally slated to take place in Seoul, South Korea, until an injury to Chan Sung Jung, who was slated to headline, caused a shift in locations. Also on the main card is a light heavyweight bout pitting Da Un Jung against Devin Clark, a heavyweight bout between Marcin Tybura and Blagoy Ivanov, and a featherweight bout featuring Doo Ho Choi, in his first fight in over three years, taking on Kyle Nelson. The prelims will feature the four finals of the Road To UFC series, which started in June in Singapore and continued in Abu Dhabi in October.

Both being patient but Aguilar might be burning his arms out. Taira is trying to escape and Aguilar lets go. Taira now traps an arm of Aguilar from the top and lands a couple of right hands. Taira gets to the mount and is looking to set up a submission. Taira now looking for a triangle choke. He gets an armbar locked in and Aguilar taps! Great finish from Taira.

Park with a leg kick as Tiuliulin lands a body jab. Park back with some leg kicks. Tiuliulin with a couple more body shots. They trade punches. Park grabs the body against the fence and is trying to get it down. Park gets it to the mat and right into full mount. Park has neck control. Park moving the fight around on the mat while in the mount. Park lands an elbow from the top. Tiuliulin is cut open around his ear. Park with some big ground-and-pound. Park gets the back and locks in the rear-naked choke and puts Tiuliulin to sleep. Big finish from Park.

Both missing kicks early. There is not much landing here in the first 90 seconds. They finally trade leg kicks and Choi lands on Park with a right hand. Park went to the mat as he wants Choi down there. Choi landing kicks to a downed Park as Park was throwing upkicks. Park is stood up by Marc Goddard. Park lands some leg kicks. They’re trading punches in the center. Park with a leg kick as Choi lands a right hand. 10-9 Choi.

Choi with a leg kick. Park lands a leg kick. Park lands a solid left hook. Park with a leg kick. Park slips to the mat and Choi gets on top and is working in the guard. Park lands an elbow from the bottom as Choi is working to improve position. They get to their feet. Park with a leg kick and follows it with a combo. Nakamura lands a few left hands to start then some high kicks. He then knocks Kazama down with a right hand. Kazama gets up and Nakamura is still swinging. He then knocks Kazama out cold with a big left hand. What a crazy minute of fighting and a great knockout from Nakamura.

> Road to UFC Featherweight Finals- Jeong Yeong Lee (9-1, 0-0 UFC) vs. Yi Zha (21-3, 0-0 UFC)

Lee lands a right hand as Zha is trying to get a takedown against the fence. Zha working hard for the takedown as he has the back, but Lee has an arm for a kimura trap. Zha gets it to the ground. Not much is happening on the mat and they get to their feet. Zha still has back control. Zha has the single leg but Lee defends as they clinch against the fence. Zha drops down for the takedown. Lee lands an uppercut. Zha lands an elbow and then drops back down for the takedown attempt. Lee defends and they break to range. Zha lands a left hand. 10-9 Zha.

The Octagon is back at its home base at the UFC Apex for the final event in the month of November before the Thanksgiving holiday with a heavyweight main event featuring one of the most popular fighters on the roster.

Former heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis looks to end a two-fight losing skid and get back into the win column when he squares off with Serghei Spivac in the five-round headline bout. Lewis is coming off back-to-back knockout losses to Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich, but is looking to end 2022 on a positive note headed into the holiday season. Spivac is riding a two-fight win streak following a second-round finish of Augusto Sakai in August.

In the co-main event, it’ll be a battle of light heavyweight sluggers as Kennedy Nzechukwu battles Ion Cutelaba. Also on the main card is a heavyweight fight between Chase Sherman and Waldo Cortes-Acosta, a welterweight clash pitting Andre Fialho against Muslim Salikhov, and fast-rising prospect Jack Della Maddalena takes on Danny Roberts in a welterweight bout.
