The Raw Tag Team titles will be on the line on the SummerSlam pre-show.

The B-Team defending their titles against The Revival was added to the SummerSlam card on tonight’s go-home edition of Raw. It was announced after Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas retained their titles against The Revival and Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt. Axel blind-tagged himself in near the finish, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder hit the Shatter Machine on Wyatt, and Axel threw Dawson out of the ring before getting the pin.

There will also be two other matches on Sunday’s kickoff show. Rusev & Lana will face Andrade “Cien” Almas & Zelina Vega, and it was officially confirmed tonight that Cedric Alexander’s Cruiserweight Championship defense against Drew Gulak will be on the pre-show.

There are now 13 matches announced for SummerSlam. The pre-show will begin at 5 p.m. Eastern time, with the main card starting at 7 p.m.

Tag Team title match announced for next week’s WWE Raw

The Raw Tag Team titles will be on the line on next Monday’s go-home show.

Raw Tag Team Champions The B-Team defending against The Revival and Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt in a triple threat match has been announced for the last episode of Raw before SummerSlam. Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas faced The Revival in a non-title match tonight, but Hardy & Wyatt interrupted it and attacked both teams for the double disqualification.

On last week’s show, The Revival interrupted a segment between The B-Team and Hardy & Wyatt. That led to them defeating Hardy & Wyatt with the Shatter Machine.

Axel & Dallas were repackaged after The Miz moved to SmackDown in this year’s Superstar Shakeup. They won the titles from Hardy & Wyatt at Extreme Rules last month and also defeated them in a rematch on TV.

Next week’s Raw is taking place at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Two tag matches announced for tonight’s WWE Raw

Two tag team matches have been announced for tonight’s episode of Raw.

In a video on Instagram yesterday, Kurt Angle announced The B-Team vs. The Revival and Sasha Banks & Bayley vs. The Riott Squad for the show. Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas vs. The Revival appears to be a non-title match.

Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder interrupted a segment between The B-Team and Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt on last week’s show, which led to The Revival defeating Hardy & Wyatt. The Revival have been positioned as the strongest challengers for The B-Team’s Raw Tag Team titles.

Wilder tweeted about the matchup yesterday: “The Revival vs The B Team tomorrow night on Raw. We’re not second generation superstars. We weren’t guaranteed anything since birth. But someone let B Team know that we’re the best tag going and we’ll always bring our ‘A’ game.”

Banks & Bayley vs. Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan is a rematch from last week. Banks & Bayley won the first meeting after hitting a backstabber into a Bayley-to-Belly suplex on Morgan.

Tonight’s show from Jacksonville, Florida is being built around Ronda Rousey making her Raw in-ring debut against Alicia Fox. Bobby Roode vs. Mojo Rawley is also set.

WWE announces Raw Tag Team title rematch for next week

After losing the Raw Tag Team titles at Extreme Rules, Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt will be getting their rematch next week.

New Tag Team Champions The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) defeated The Ascension on Raw tonight, then a promo from Hardy & Wyatt on the video screen interrupted them. Hardy said Axel & Dallas disrupted the equilibrium of the heavens by winning the titles, Wyatt said he and Hardy will be getting their rematch on next week’s episode of Raw, and Hardy vowed that Axel & Dallas will be deleted.

Hardy & Wyatt won the titles at April’s Greatest Royal Rumble and held them until losing to Axel & Dallas on Sunday.

The Revival were shown watching tonight’s match backstage and were mentioned on commentary as being a team that will likely be challenging for the titles in the future. They were shown watching Hardy vs. Dallas last week as well.

Next Monday’s Raw is taking place at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. It will also feature Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley to decide Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship challenger for SummerSlam.

Raw Tag Team title match set for WWE Extreme Rules

After being set up as the next challengers prior to Money in the Bank, The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) will finally get their Raw Tag Team title shot at next month’s pay-per-view.

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt defending their titles against Axel & Dallas was confirmed for Extreme Rules on tonight’s Raw. Axel & Dallas won a number one contender’s tag team battle royal on the June 4 episode of the show to earn the title shot.

Axel countered a superplex into a crossbody to defeat Hardy in a singles match this week. Hardy and Wyatt then applauded Axel, with the storyline being that The B-Team didn’t know what to make of them.

Extreme Rules is taking place at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 15. As of now, WWE Champion AJ Styles defending against Rusev and Nia Jax challenging for Alexa Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship are the only other matches officially announced for the PPV.

– Cedric Alexander defeated TJP

This was the match of the night. It was super athletic and the crowd got into it, with the submission holds even feeling like they meant something.

The crowd responded well to The Bar and Gallows & Anderson got lots of “Too Sweets.” It was a good match overall, with Sheamus hitting the Brogue Kick to retain.

Big night of returns on WWE Raw

It was a big night of returns on WWE television tonight.

Stephanie McMahon, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, Bo Dallas, JoJo, and Nia Jax all returned to TV on this week’s episode of Raw. Stephanie making an appearance was the storyline reason for Kurt Angle wrestling at Survivor Series, with her naming Angle the captain of Raw’s team for the pay-per-view. She threatened to find a new general manager if Raw doesn’t annihilate SmackDown.

No other members of Raw’s men’s division team for Survivor Series have been announced yet, but Dave Meltzer reported today that Strowman, Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns & Finn Balor would be teaming with Angle. Joe returned to Raw for the first time since he suffered a knee injury at a house show in August, defeating Apollo Crews in his first match back.

Strowman also returned at the end of tonight’s episode, emerging from a garbage truck like the one he was put in at TLC and going after The Miz, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel. Dallas and JoJo were back on Raw after being off the road in recent weeks due to Dallas and Bray Wyatt being ill.

Raw’s women’s division team did add a member for Survivor Series, with Nia Jax joining Alicia Fox as she came back to Raw and defeated Bayley tonight. Jax had been taking time off and was scheduled to return today before the Raw roster flies to Glasgow, Scotland to begin WWE’s European tour.

Six-man tag match added to WWE SummerSlam pre-show

Another match has been added to the SummerSlam pre-show.

It was announced in a video today that The Hardys would again team up with Jason Jordan against The Miz, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas on Sunday. The New Day defending their SmackDown tag titles against The Usos is currently listed for the pre-show as well, along with Neville getting his rematch against Akira Tozawa for the Cruiserweight Championship.

The Hardys & Jordan vs. The Miztourage is also a rematch from this week’s episode of Raw. The faces won that first meeting after it was turned into a six-man tag when The Miz got disqualified in a singles match against Jordan due to Axel and Dallas’ interference.

The addition of the six-man tag brings the SummerSlam lineup up to 13 matches. Here’s the updated card:

  • WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defending against Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun Strowman in a fatal four-way match (Lesnar and Paul Heyman have vowed to leave WWE if Lesnar loses)
  • WWE Champion Jinder Mahal defending against Shinsuke Nakamura
  • United States Champion AJ Styles defending against Kevin Owens (with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee)
  • John Cena vs. Baron Corbin
  • Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defending against Sasha Banks
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi defending against Natalya
  • Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defending against Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose
  • Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt
  • Randy Orton vs. Rusev
  • Big Cass vs. Big Show (with Enzo Amore suspended above the ring in a shark cage)
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day defending against The Usos (kickoff show)
  • The Hardys & Jason Jordan vs. The Miz, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas (kickoff show)
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa defending against Neville (kickoff show)

Three matches set for WWE Raw next week

Though next week’s episode of Raw probably won’t have the same level of intrigue going into it as last night’s did, WWE has already announced three matches for the show.

Sasha Banks will face Bayley in a match to determine who will challenge for Alexa Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. That was set up last night in a storyline with Banks and Bayley both pleading their cases to Kurt Angle after wins over Bliss in recent weeks.

A two-on-three handicap match between Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose and The Miz, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas and Finn Balor vs. Elias Samson in a no disqualification match were the other matches announced for next week. Balor tweeted a picture of a nasty cut that he received from Samson’s guitar shot on Raw.

The show should also feature Angle addressing who will challenge for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam after Braun Strowman interrupted Monday’s number one contender’s match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe.

WWE Main Event results: Drew Gulak vs. Lince Dorado

The Big Takeaway: Lince Dorado may have injured his knee in the opener against Drew Gulak, while Rhyno & Heath Slater continued their winning streak with a win against Bo Dallas & Curt Hawkins.

**********

Drew Gulak defeated Lince Dorado (4:38)

On the bell, Gulak charges at Dorado and they explode into action. Dorado takes most of the early going with quick springboard moves until Gulak takes him down and starts to work him over with chinlocks and armbars.

The most newsworthy part of the match, though, was about four minutes in just as they were about to go to the finish. Dorado twirled Gulak into a backbreaker, but as he did so, he landed awkwardly on his right foot and Gulak smashed into his knee.

Dorado was slightly off balance and his ankle looked to have turned over slightly. He rolled out of the move clutching his knee. He nodded to the ringside officials and the referee immediately called for the bell.

Dorado since posted on his Instagram account with a picture of his foot in a sports trainer with a comic on his lap. The caption underneath just read “Recover.” Its unclear at this stage whether the injury was an angle or if it just seemed more serious at the time.

Rhyno & Heath Slater defeated Bo Dallas & Curt Hawkins (7:01)

Hawkins’ partner this week is Bo Dallas. Dallas seems to be slowly changing his look; his beard is thicker and longer than ever and he is wearing his hair down and loose.

Rhyno and Slater take control in the early stages as Rhyno beats up Hawkins and flies off the ropes with a headbutt. Only after Slater loses out in an Irish whip does Hawkins get the chance to tag in Dallas. Dallas is able to dodge out of the way of Slater, who tumbles through the ropes to the outside as we head to a break.

Hawkins and Dallas have cut the ring in half as we return. They use a mixture of rest holds, double teams, and quick pin attempts to try to finish Slater off. Once again, even in these short tag team bouts, Hawkins’ quality as a wrestler really stands out. He hits neat suplexes and elbow drops and just makes it all look extremely easy.

Finally, Rhyno gets in and clears house. He Samoan drops Dallas, but Hawkins dives in to make the save. Slater dumps Hawkins over the top rope, but the momentum takes him with him. Rhyno turns back around and uses his spinning spinebuster for the win.

Bo Dallas returns to WWE television on Raw

Fresh off of an arrest for public intoxication and drunkenness last month, Bo Dallas returned to WWE television on Monday night’s edition of Raw. And though some speculated that Dallas would be punished for the arrest, it doesn’t appear that he will face any repercussions on-screen.

Dallas made quick work of an enhancement talent while showing more of an aggressive streak than he had the last time he was on TV. He carried a sign that told the audience to “Bo-lieve in Bo.”

His arrest was not acknowledged on the show.

Dave Meltzer reported on the details of Dallas’ arrest last month. Dallas allegedly caused a disturbance at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport before a flight carrying some of the WWE roster could take off to Mexico for a two-show tour of the country.

Officers reportedly came after Dallas was kicked off of the plane for being a disruption and saying expletives to crew members. He was allegedly found several gates away, with the arrest report claiming he smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech.

Bo Dallas arrested for public intoxication last Friday

Taylor Rotunda (Bo Dallas) was arrested on Friday at DFW Airport. Rotunda was charged with public intoxication and drunkenness at 7:15 p.m. local time. Officers came after he was taken off the connecting plane that a number of WWE stars were on, headed to Mexico for the two-day tour.

Rotunda didn’t fly to Mexico for the first or second show. Police were called after Rotunda was singing a song from the Lion King and allegedly said some expletives to crew members and was kicked off the flight. Airport police found him six gates away and the arrest report said he smelled of alcohol and admitted he had been drinking a little as well as slurring his words.

Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel were scheduled to face the Usos on both nights of the tour, but instead Axel worked singles matches on it. WWE has not made any statement about the incident.

Blackjack Mulligan hospitalized; Bray Wyatt & Bo Dallas not at RAW

Monday’s RAW lineup in Birmingham, AL, had to be changed somewhat as both Bo Dallas (Taylor Rotunda) and Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) flew home from Birmingham to Tampa as grandfather, Bob “Blackjack Mulligan” Windham, is in bad shape.

Mike Rotunda, a producer with WWE, Bob’s son-in-law, and the father of Wyatt and Dallas, flew home with his sons today as well. Both Bray and Bo did work WWE house shows Sunday night, so something obviously changed between then and today in order to cause their trip back.

The 73-year-old Windham was hospitalized in June 2015 after suffering a heart attack. He and partner “Blackjack” Jack Lanza were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April 2006. He worked all over the world as a tag team wrestler and as a singles wrestler in all of the key promotions, winning titles with Lanza, Ric Flair, and Dick Murdoch.

We’ll discuss any updates or story developments on tonight’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
