**********

We’ve been waiting all day for Sunday Night, it’s Slam Dunk Sunday! We’re still in Omaha, Nebraska for another one-hour edition of Collision. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as the Trios Champions made their way to the ring for their seventh defense of the titles.

AEW World Trios Title Match – Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) (c) defeated AR Fox & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)

An energetic opener, with the crowd behind Fox after his performance against Will Ospreay on Wednesday’s Dynamite. The Cru issue with Top Flight needs to have some type of conclusion some time soon, as it’s been going on in the undercards for months.

The announcers made sure to bring up Fox & Top Flight’s win in the $300,000 Three Kings Christmas Casino Trios Battle Royal from a 2022 Rampage. I don’t know if anyone has got more out of winning one battle royal than these three have.

Yuta and Darius Martin started, but it didn’t take long for Castagnoli to take control of the match. Dante Martin sent Castagnoli flying to the floor with a headscissors and took PAC down before tagging in Fox. Fox sent Yuta to the floor and PAC to the apron, then hit a flipping stomp onto PAC before diving onto Yuta. Castagnoli took him down with a boot on the floor.

The Death Riders isolated Fox in the ring, but Fox ducked a lariat and got the tag into Darius, who quickly took out the Death Riders. The match broke down quickly, with Yuta scoring a Right Angle Slam on Darius as we went to a commercial. After the break, the crowd chanted for Fox to get the hot tag as the Death Riders isolated Darius. Instead, Dante got the hot tag and ran wild.

Dante hit a double springboard dive and tagged Fox in, who hit a step-up moonsault off of the ring post onto Castagnoli. Fox hit a big Swanton Bomb on Yuta for a nearfall. Castagnoli cut off Fox briefly, and PAC took down Top Flight with a low blow to both men on the outside. The Death Riders circled Fox, and while Fox fought valiantly, the Death Riders eventually ran a train of back elbows on him. PAC laid him out with a Tombstone, and the Fastball Special scored the win.

After the match, The Cru jumped Top Flight and choked them out with their chains. The referees ineffectively pointed and pulled at The Cru to stop them.

During this match, a special Dynamite was announced for April 16th titled Spring Break Thru. Tony Schiavone noted, without saying any trademarked show titles, that this would be the show where Dynamite surpassed WCW Monday Nitro for the longest-running primetime wrestling show in Turner history. I’m sure everyone will take that news with grace.

We got a recap of the TNT Title match from last night’s Slam Dunk Saturday show between champion Daniel Garcia & challenger Adam Cole. Lexy Nair’s guests at this time were the Undisputed Kingdom, who asked Cole if the draw felt worse than a loss. Cole said that he had Garcia beat and promised that there would be no interference and no time limit in their rematch. Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong talked about the waved-off handshakes from FTR, saying that they wouldn’t accept the disrespect for a third time.

After a commercial, Lexy Nair’s guest at this time was Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, who talked about how he beat both members of the Hounds of Hell and “put those b****es to sleep.”

Bandido defeated Johnny TV

This was a showcase for Bandido, with the quick win over Johnny and getting his brother’s mask back from The Learning Tree. With Supercard of Honor coming up in May, a Title vs. Mask match that’s been built on AEW television would be a nice headliner.

Johnny threw his jacket at Bandido and started with the advantage. Bandido quickly came back and monkey flipped Johnny all the way over to his stomach. Bandido dropped Johnny with a one-armed Gorilla Press as we went to commercial. After the break, Bandido dropkicked a charging Johnny for a nearfall. Bandido hit the X-Knee, then landed the 21-Plex to score the win.

After the match, Bandido demanded Chris Jericho to bring his brother Gravity’s mask back. All three members of The Learning Tree came out, as Jericho had Gravity’s mask in hand. Jericho said that he wished it could be different, but he had to show people what happened when they took Chris Jericho too lightly. Bandido could ask his disgraced brother and weeping mother about that, as that’s what happened when you messed with Jericho.

Jericho refused to give Bandido the mask back, saying that he wanted Bandido to remember the shame he felt when Jericho took it. Jericho said that the only thing worse than taking a luchador’s mask was putting it on. Jericho put the mask on and asked if Bandido was going to stand there and cry like his mother. Bandido punched Jericho, then evaded the Learning Tree before swiping the mask off of Jericho’s face to a big pop. Bandido celebrated getting his brother’s mask back as Jericho held Big Bill and Keith back in the ring.

We got a Megan Bayne hype video. Bayne spoke about none of the other women having true power and called herself the All Elite Goddess. She said that this was her kingdom now.

Toni Storm was backstage, wondering who died and made Megan Bayne God. She promised to cut off the head of the mighty Megasus and stand tall with her title. The title match was made official for Dynasty.

Harley Cameron defeated Aminah Belmont

Cameron got a quick win with Her Finishing Move.

Lexy Nair’s guest at this time was Don Callis, who was asked about Kyle Fletcher. Callis said that having talent like Fletcher allowed the Family to put nights like Revolution behind them. Callis introduced Fletcher to the interview, who said that he was still destined to be the greatest of all time. He promised to be at Dynamite on Wednesday, and promised to make it clear what was next for him and the Family. Tony Khan later announced that Fletcher would be in action on Dynamite against Brody King.

Los Titanes Del Aire (Hologram & Komander) (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico & The Beast Mortos)

A sick lucha tag that I may have opened one of these shows with. This was eye-catching action with a hot crowd and standout characters. I also would have put the hype for Dynamite and Dynasty earlier on in the shows as well. We know the audiences for these post-sports shows dwindles toward the end of the night, so front-load them with big action and hype for the next shows.

As promised last night, Harley Cameron stuck around for commentary for this match. When asked about the identity of Harleygram, she didn’t know who she was, but she had a fantastic chest. I am inclined to agree.

We got some quick action to start, with Dralistico taking Komander off the apron with a headscissors and Mortos diving onto Hologram. Cameron said that she had to make a phone call, so she left the announce desk and went to the back. After a commercial, Titanes were on offense and Harleygram was rooting them on at ringside. Harleygram was wearing Harley Cameron’s gear, so hopefully Harley had something else in her bag.

Komander hit a step-up Phoenix Splash on Dralistico, and Hologram hit a Destroyer on Mortos. Hologram hit a massive dive onto Mortos, and Komander hit his rope-walk Shooting Star Press for a nearfall that Dralistico broke up. Dralistico tagged in and cut Komander off on the top rope, but Komander slipped free and hit a step-up poisonrana.

The match broke down into a Pier Six brawl with sick moves before Komander landed on top of Dralistico for a nearfall. Dralistico and Komander traded chops before Dralistico hit a springboard Destroyer for a nearfall. Dralistico hit a hurricane kick on Hologram, but Hologram came back with a big dive. Mortos chucked Abrahantes away, but got distracted by Harleygram. That allowed Komander to hit the rope-walk dive to the floor. Titanes put LFI away with a Portal Bomb into a rope-walk Shooting Star Press for the win.

During this match, the rest of the Dynamite card was announced: Toni Storm & Thunder Rosa vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford, Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Mark Davis, Mark Briscoe vs. Konosuke Takeshita, Kenny Omega vs. Blake Christian, MJF answering MVP’s offer, and a sitdown interview with Rated FTR.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Athena vs. La Catalina Women’s title defense

The Ring of Honor Women’s World title will be on the line as part of ROH on HonorClub as Athena will defend against CMLL’s La Catalina.

After competing on AEW Dynamite, former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa will return to the red and black brand for only the second time this year.

In a CMLL trios showcase, Blue Panther will team with his sons Blue Panther Jr. and Dark Panther against Gran Guerrero, Euforia and Valiente.

Former ROH Women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will be in action as will be reigning ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes).

Two high-flying brothers — Bandido & Gravity — will battle The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) while the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) will take on Bad Dude Tito & Che Cabrera.

Satnam Singh & Jay Lethal will be in tag team action in addition to The Beast Mortos.

**********

Chris Jericho was backstage with Renee Pacquette at Dynamite, talking to Big Bill and Bryan Keith about their losses to Bandido and Will Hobbs. Jericho talked about how there was huge opportunities to be main event players, and they were not living out to the potential and expectations that Jerich has for them. Keith and Bill walked away looking focused.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated La Catalina

Really solid opening match for ROH this week, with Athena and Catalina both looking good. Athena continues to be one of the best parts of these shows, and somehow still gets heat as a heel despite being their top champion for so long.

Catalina and Athena kept the Code of Honor, but it didn’t take long before Athena started mocking Catalina. Catalina won a test of strength with Catalina, but it was countered into a cradle. Catalina hit a dropkick after some misdirection, and hit a shotgun dropkick to send Athena to the floor. Athena hit a swinging uranage on the floor on Catalina and ordered Aubrey Edwards to check on Catalina.

Catalina countered a handspring from Athena with a Basaiku knee and another dropkick. Catalina hit an electric chair drop for a 2-count. Catalina went for an inside cloverleaf, and attempted to get Athena to submit, but Athena got to the ropes and fought out. Athena blocked a German suplex and hit a popup powerbomb, held on, and hit another powerbomb on Catalina for a 2-count. Athena went for a modified gogoplata, but Catalina leaned forward and got a 2-count. Athena transitioned into a LaBell lock, but Catalina countered out and hit a Pedigree for a 2-count. Athena hit a hard elbow and went to the top rope to hit the O-Face for the pinfall.

–MXM was backstage with their own customized ROH World Tag Team Championship that they stole from Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara with custom faceplates with their faces on them. The claimed they did not lose their title in Australia because Australia isn’t real.

Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh (w/ Sonjay Dutt) defeated McCallion & Slade

Lethal started the match with McCallion, but Slade blind tagged in and they started getting heat on Lethal early on. Lethal flipped out of a back suplex attempt and rolled towards Singh and paused, smiled, and as the fans cheered for him to tag in Singh, the two heels tried to shush the audience, which was hilarious. The audience cheered, and Singh tagged in and massacred McCallion, who lost his mask as Singh repeatedly hit short chokeslams on him. Singh then chokeslammed both men, body slammed Slade on McCallion, and pinned them both. That was fun.

Billie Starks defeated Mylo

Starks was quite violent in this match, showing that Athena has had more of an effect on her than she would like to admit as she continues to be one of Athena’s minions. Mylo’s offence in this match did not look that great, but that didn’t stop Starks from looking good with her senton bomb finish.

–A hype video aired for The Outrunners as they hawked Outrunner merch. It was great.

The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) defeated Jon Cruz & Olumide

Guevara started the match with Olumide, sending him from the ring quickly to also throw Cruz across the ring. Dustin Rhodes tagged in and ate a punch from Cruz, which his funny given their size difference. Cruz ate a flying forearm from Rhodes, and Guevara hit a standing moonsault for a 2-count. Guevara hit a stalling suplex on Cruz, but Cruz raked the eyes of Guevara and tagged out to Olumide. Rhodes tagged in and took control, before setting up Guevara for a senton bomb for the pinfall.

–MXM Collection came out and attacked The Sons of Texas from behind, and attempted to double team Guevara by hitting him with the tag title, but Mansoor accidentally hit Mason Madden. Guevara setup Mansoor in the corner, superkicked Mansoor, and let Rhodes hit the shattered dreams. Guevara took back his tag title and ripped the stickers off the belt as Mansoor & Madden were infuriated.

The Beast Mortos defeated Sonico

Mortos swarmed Sonico fast, throwing him all over the ring. Mortos hit a popup Samoan Drop before spiking Sonico on his head and pinning him. There is nothing like a great squash match, and this was one of them.

Thunder Rosa defeated Brittnie Brooks

Rosa kept this match pretty simple, hitting a lariat and bodyslam after a few opening moves, but Brooks managed to hit a suplex after blocking one from Rosa. Rosa ducked a chop and hit a hard one of her own on Brooks, but Brooks did a corner charge, trash talked, and ate a dropkick for it. Rose hit a hip attack in the ropes and then a Northern Lights suplex for a 2-count. Rosa countered a reverse DDT with a package bomb for the win.

Gravity & Bandido defeated The Infantry (Cpt. Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo)

Dean started the match exchanging holds with Gravity, who lured Dean in with his spacewalk, and Dean was obviously flustered. Gravity tagged out to Bandido, who got a nice reaction from the audience that treated him like a star. Bandido hit a dropkick on Bravo and tagged back out to Gravity. Dean blind tagged in, leading to Bravo being able to clip the knee of Gravity and smash his knee against the ring post.

The Infantry kept up their attack for a few minutes, relentlessly attacking the knee of Gravity. Dean hit a Tiger Bomb and then locked on a half crab. Gravity ducked under a clothesline from Bravo and rolled into a tag. Bandido gorilla pressed Dean and tossed him into Bravo, leading to both Gravity and Bandido hitting stereo tope suicidia dives. Bandido popped up Gravity into the air, and he landed with a splash on Bravo for a 2-count that Dean broke up.

Dean and Bravo hit a double team uranage but Gravity broke up the pinfall attempt. Bravo kicked the knee of Gravity, but Bandido shoved Gravity out of the way and hit a wacky knee to Bravo. Instead of hitting the 21-Plex on Bravo, Bandido hit a tope con giro onto Dean while Gravity hit the 21-plex instead for the win.

–Big Bill and Bryan Keith ran out and attacked Gravity and Bandido. Chris Jericho slowly made his way down to the ring and hit Gravity with the ROH World Championship ad Big Bill forced Bandido to look on. Jericho then nailed Bandido with the title as the crowd booed. Simple, effective angle, with Bill and Keith getting a measure of revenge on Bandido, while Jericho continues his campaign against Bandido.

–Athena was backstage with her Minions in Training, asking them to praise her, while Diamante shoved the minions away, claiming that she was minion #1 now.

The Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeated Bad Dude Tito & Che Cabrera

The audience was really into Toa Liona in this match as he basically massacred both men at the same time. I am not a fan of seeing Bad Dude Tito in a bit of a squash, but I can’t deny that I really enjoyed this match. Seeing a big guy like Liona crush his opponents was fantastic. Tito, thankfully, did not eat a pin here , with Cabrera taking Open the Gates and being pinned by Liona.

Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., & Dark Panther defeated Gran Guerrero, Euforia, & Valiente

This was a ton of fun. It was very much so a standard lucha tag, but since we see a true lucha style tag so rarely, this was delightful.

Blue Panther took his time going around to the front row, shaking hands and high fiving fans. A true babyface. This marked Blue Panther’s first time appearing in ROH, which is very cool. Blue Panther Jr. started with Valiente, with both men exchanging chops. Since the match was lucha rules, as soon a someone goes outside, a partner comes in. Blue Panther and Dark Panther hit a double flying headbutt on Valiente, and the Panther team hitting a wishbone split and a headbutt on Gran Guerrero.

Euforia was able to hit a powerbomb after an assist by Gran Guerrero and Valiente. Guerrero raised the roof and hit a basement slide dropkick that sent Blue Panther Jr. crashing to the mats on the floor hard. The fans started chanting at the heels, calling them dogs in Spanish, and they were very upset, despite their cheating and triple teaming Blue Panther causing it.

Gran Guerrero chopped Blue Panther as Euforia and Valiente held him, and he fired up to attack Guerrero, but ended up getting triple teamed. Eventually, Panther managed to escape and got a hot tag to Blue Panther Jr. and he ran wild. Blue Panther hit a flipping senton off the apron onto Valiente, while the others hit dives to the other opponents. Blue Panther hit a hurricanrana off the apron onto Euforia, which was impressive given his age. Dark Panther hit a powerbomb on Valiente for a 2-count. After a tope sucidia by Dark Panther, Blue Panther cradled Euforia for the win.

AEW Collision live results: Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole, Kenny Omega appearance

A TNT title match headlines tonight’s live AEW Collision from Oakland, California, as reigning champion Daniel Garcia defends against Adam Cole.

Garcia is looking for the fourth defense of the title he won in November while Cole is searching for his first AEW title of any kind.

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will make an appearance ahead of his challenge of International Champion Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution.

After Garcia vs. Cole spun out of Wednesday’s Dynamite, former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR will take on Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly in another spinoff.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Bandido will face Big Bill and Bryan Keith in a continued feud between both teams.

**********

Collision began with words from Daniel Garcia, FTR, The Undisputed Kingdom, & the team of Powerhouse Hobbs and Bandido. Julia Hart spoke on her match, but was interrupted by Kazuchika Okada coming out of his locker room and getting into a staredown with Brody King. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call as FTR came out for the opening match.

Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong defeated FTR

A fantastic opening match as the Kingdom continues to rehab themselves with good performances. The false finish with O’Reilly’s foot on the ropes was an odd spot, but it worked to get the crowd behind O’Reilly & Strong who would have been wrongly robbed if the result stood. The work from there built to a great finish, with O’Reilly surviving the punishment long enough for Strong to give them the opening to win. I would love a rematch, and the post-match suggests that one is on the way.

The announcers talked about how it had been seven years since these two teams last faced off. FTR won the opening exchange, driving Strong & O’Reilly to the floor. Strong and O’Reilly took control of Wheeler with offense on the floor before isolating him on their side of the ring. Wheeler slid his way to the corner to tag Harwood, who came in hot and peppered both Kingdom members with strikes.

O’Reilly caught Harwood with a kick and went to pick the leg, but Harwood caught O’Reilly with a piledriver and pinned him. O’Reilly put his foot on the ropes, but the referee didn’t see it and counted the three. FTR were announced as the winners, but Harwood refused the tainted win and demanded the match to be restarted. The crowd agreed, and the match was restarted. FTR worked over O’Reilly more as we went to a commercial break.

After the break, O’Reilly fought past Wheeler and crawled through another piledriver attempt to get Strong tagged into the match. Strong ran wild, scoring a nearfall with a gourdbuster on Harwood. Strong hit Wheeler and Harwood with Olympic Slams before O’Reilly came in to hit a double team strike for a nearfall.

O’Reilly caught Wheeler in an ankle lock and made Wheeler tap out, but legal man Harwood rolled O’Reilly up for a nearfall. O’Reilly got Harwood in an ankle lock, but Harwood rolled him into a forearm shot from Wheeler and rolled him up for another nearfall. Both teams attempted spike piledrivers, but FTR scored with one with the pin broken up by Strong. FTR fought off Strong to hit the Powerplex, but O’Reilly kicked out to a big pop. FTR went for the Shatter Machine, but Strong intervened with a jumping knee to Harwood. The Kingdom hit the Total Elimination for the win.

After the match, The Kingdom offered handshakes but FTR blew them off.

We got a video package of Willow Nightingale taking out Marina Shafir on Dynamite with the Con-Chair-To. Nightingale said that she had been through a lot in AEW and had done it all with a smile, but people had forgotten what happened when the smile fades. She was the Babe With The Power, and she wasn’t afraid to use it.

Wheeler Yuta defeated Willie Mack

A good set-up match for Yuta/Copeland on Wednesday. Yuta is Moxley’s last soldier standing, so seeing Mox re-embrace Yuta as his protégé instead of a useless underling works as he’s got no other options.

Yuta controlled Mack to start, locking on a single leg crab that forced Mack to the ropes. Yuta beat on Mack until the referee pulled him off of Mack, with Yuta shouting that he had until five. Mack rocked Yuta with an elbow, but Yuta pulled himself back into the ring and landed a German suplex. Mack came back with a big lariat and a cannonball and scored a one-count with a standing moonsault. Yuta shoved off a Stunner attempt and hit the Busaiku Knee for the win.

Jon Moxley came out after the match and brained Mack with the briefcase before handing it to Yuta. Moxley took the mic and said that he had a lesson to teach his protégé about finishing the job. He got back in the ring and told Yuta off-mic that he needed to take Cope out on Wednesday night, and to make sure Cope doesn’t leave on his own two feet. He told Yuta to finish the job and held up Mack for another briefcase shot, which Yuta obliged. Moxley left Yuta with the briefcase and left the arena.

We got a recap of the altercation on Dynamite between Mercedes Mone, Billie Starkz, & Momo Watanabe that left Watanabe with the TBS Title. Mone was backstage when Starkz walked in with the TBS Title, telling Mone to enjoy it now as Watanabe was going to take it from her at Revolution. Starkz got her own receipt from Dynamite, throwing a drink in Mone’s face to leave her steaming.

We got a video of a bedridden Toni Storm with a neckbrace on. The upside to getting piledriven on a stage is that it gave her time to think. Storm said that she could give Mariah May the spotlight she wanted at Revolution and made it clear that their rematch at the PPV would be no holds barred and falls count anywhere. She hoped May believed in God, because she was going to meet her.

Swerve Strickland defeated Clark Connors

A good showcase for Strickland here as he focuses in ahead of his #1 contender match. Connors looked good going against Strickland and helped Strickland to look good ahead of his PPV match.

We got a Connors highlight reel of his work in New Japan since his appearance at Forbidden Door 2022, mentioning him as a member of the War Dogs alongside Gabe Kidd. Strickland got an early advantage before Connors took him down with a shoulder block and got in the referee’s face for being in his way. Connors clubbered on Strickland before Strickland caught him with a backbreaker and transitioned immediately into an arm snap as we went to a commercial.

After the break, Strickland and Connors maneuvered around each other before Connors caught Strickland with a powerslam. Connors went for his Jeep Flip spear, but Strickland caught Connors with an upkick and a hurricane kick. Strickland took Connors to the top rope and hit an avalanche belly-to-back suplex for a nearfall.

Connors caught Strickland with a headbutt, but Strickland countered another Jeep Flip attempt with a rolling flatliner. Connors avoided the Swerve Stomp and landed the Jeep Flip, but a delayed pin due to his arm damage only got two. Connors went for No Chaser, but Strickland pulled Connors to the mat by the arm and drilled him with a sick House Call to the face for the win.

Swerve spoke to the camera and talked about his first step back to the main event being at Revolution as a contract signing between himself and Ricochet was announced for Dynamite.

We got video from after Dynamite with The Outrunners catching up with The Hurt Syndicate. MVP informed them that even though they beat a distracted Murder Machines, MVP was a man of his word. He granted the Outrunners a title shot and told them to get their affairs in order. The Outrunners were pleased, saying they had worked their entire rookie year for this shot.

After a commercial, Harley Cameron was at the announce desk with the announcers seeming confused as to why as she wasn’t scheduled for an interview. After showing highlights of her win on Dynamite, Cameron said that she was there to workshop names for her finishing move. She landed on calling it “Her Finishing Move.” She called Tony Schiavone a genius and told everyone to Feel The Wrath.

Big Boom AJ & Big Justice were backstage with Alicia Atout before they were immediately interrupted by Johnny TV. Johnny saw them disrespect MxM Collection some time back, so he challenged AJ to find two partners for a trios match at Revolution. He clarified that Big Justice nor a cookie would count.

Lee Moriarty & The Infantry (w/Shane Taylor) defeated Vinnie Massaro, Nick Ruiz, & Dave Dutra

Matt Menard joined commentary for this one. You may recognize Vinnie Massaro as the pizza guy from Lucha Underground. Shane Taylor Promotions got a quick win, with Moriarty scoring the fall with The Fang. As they were leaving, Adam Cole made his entrance for the TNT Title match.

AEW TNT Title Match – Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Adam Cole ended in a no contest

This was a very good match that was on its way to great when the finish happened. Garcia’s got this odd paradox going where he won’t get a strong reaction for his entrance but usually gets the crowds by the time his match ends. That work will pay off down the line. Shane Taylor Promotions hasn’t meant much in AEW up to this point, but if they’re going to do anything with them, they need to do it now as this angle got them a lot of heat from this Oakland crowd.

Cole won the first exchange and hit his catchphrase. Garcia won the second exchange and hit his dance. The two shook hands but got into it afterward, with Garcia hitting the Twist N’ Shout neckbreaker. Cole cut off the ten punches in the corner and hung up Garcia in the ropes before hitting a backstabber. Cole hit a neckbreaker and a Rude Awakening for nearfalls, softening up Garcia’s neck as a point of attack.

Cole landed an enzuigiri, but Garcia got to the apron and hooked Cole’s leg for a Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Garcia hit a running dropkick to Cole on the floor as we went to a commercial. After the break, Cole caught Garcia with a superkick and got a nearfall with an Ushigoroshi. Garcia scored with a neckbreaker, but Cole countered a second one with a brainbuster over the knee for a nearfall.

Cole loaded up for the Panama Sunrise, but Garcia cut him off with chops. Garcia went to the top rope, and after a fight, Garcia brought Cole down with a superplex and quickly followed with a piledriver for a nearfall. Garcia set Cole up for another piledriver, but Cole jackknifed him for a nearfall. Cole scored with multiple superkicks and hit the Panama Sunrise for a nearfall.

Garcia hit a side suplex that sent Cole to the floor, but Cole baited him in with a superkick and hit The Boom on the floor. Cole rolled Garcia into the ring, but the extra time allowed Garcia to kick out. Cole decided that his ankle hurt too much for another Panama Sunrise, but Garcia caught the superkick attempt and locked on an ankle lock. Cole crawled across the ring and got to the ropes to break the hold.

Garcia hit a piledriver on the apron to send Cole to the floor, and rolled into the ring as the referee administered the count. Cole jumped in at the count of nine, and the two got into a hockey fight as the ring announcer made the call that five minutes remained in the time limit. The time limit wouldn’t be the issue here, as Shane Taylor Promotions came out and attacked both men. The Infantry laid out Cole and Moriarty locked Garcia in the Border City Stretch as Shane Taylor walked around with the TNT Title.

We quickly cut to a hype package for The Opps.

After a commercial break, Big Boom AJ updated us on his partner search. Big Justice found Orange Cassidy, and Cassidy brought in Mark Briscoe to do his Mark Briscoe promo. So it will be Big Boom AJ & The Conglomeration vs. Johnny TV & MxM Collection at the PPV.

Queen Aminata defeated Julia Hart

A lot going on here, as Aminata scores the biggest win of her AEW career with the advice from Serena Deeb, and we have a feud with Brody King and Kazuchika Okada forming after the post-match. The crowd was into this one.

During Queen Aminata’s entrance, we got a picture-in-picture promo from Serena Deeb. Deeb challenged Aminata to the first ever women’s Pure Rules match and said that we would see if Aminata was ready for it tonight against Hart. Deeb gave Aminata the gameplan, and now it was time to see if Aminata was smart enough to accept her advice.

Hart took Aminata over with a headscissors before some strikes in the corner got her a nearfall. Aminata traded strikes with Hart before taking her down with a chop block and jamming her knee into the mat, a la Serena Deeb. After the commercial, Aminata had Hart in a full nelson with her legs, with Hart escaping by stacking her up for a nearfall. Hart got a flash pin for a nearfall, then fired up with axe handles and a moonsault for a nearfall.

Hart locked on Hartless, but Aminata rolled Hart to her back for a nearfall. Hart dropped Aminata in the corner and went up for a moonsault, but Aminata moved out of the way and drilled her with the Brain Drain. Aminata hit the running kick in the ropes, called Off With Her Head, for the big win.

After the match, Brody King came out to check on Hart in the ring when Kazuchika Okada appeared and laid King out with the Continental Title.

Kenny Omega Speaks

We got a recap of Konosuke Takeshita beating Orange Cassidy on Dynamite, making Takeshita vs. Kenny Omega official for Revolution.

We cut to Omega at his home, talking about how he had to spend a year hearing Don Callis talking about Takeshita beat him twice in a week. It got on his nerves, but this wasn’t about revenge for Omega. It’s about the belt, and he who holds the belt is regarded as the best. Omega said that if Takeshita beat him a third time, he may have to admit that the old Kenny Omega is gone and that Takeshita is better. But after a year away to focus, he doesn’t have the baggage of friends that left him behind or the baggage of being an EVP. His entire focus is the belt, not because of Don or because of Takeshita. He wanted the International Title, and he was going to take it at Revolution.

Bandido & Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Big Bill & Bryan Keith

An energetic main event to give Hobbs a win in his hometown.

Hometown man Hobbs and Keith started, with Hobbs lifting Keith in a suplex and passing him off to Bandido in a gorilla press before Bandido dropped him in Hobbs’ arms for a fallaway slam. Keith was back in his bad yellow gear, but he dropped the singlet to a minor improvement. Big Bill tagged in and hooked Bandido for a chokeslam, but Bandido rolled through to his feet and pointed his six-shooter at Bill. Bill wanted a duel but charged at Bandido as he took his paces. Bandido, sensing the lack of honor in Big Bill, ducked the attack and laid in shots. Keith cut Bandido off on the apron as we went to a commercial.

The Learning Tree were in control as we were back from the break, but Bandido ducked a Big Bill charge and hit the Trish Stratus bulldog off the ropes on Keith to get the tag to Hobbs. Hobbs encouraged the MEAT chants as he ran wild in front of his home crowd. Hobbs hit a massive twisting slam off the top rope for a nearfall that Bill broke up. Bill caught a leaping Bandido in a Bossman Slam.

Hobbs cut off a Big Bill chokeslam attempt with a big shoulder block, leading to Bandido and Keith dropping each other with running boots. Hobbs and Bill faced off again, with Hobbs sending Bill to the floor. Hobbs told Bandido to go up, and Bandido did a moonsault off of Hobbs’ shoulders to Bill. Bandido went splat on the floor, that looked like it sucked. Hobbs took the straps down and dropped Keith with a main event spinebuster to win the main event.

During this match, Thunder Rosa & Kris Statlander vs. Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford was made official for Dynamite.

Bandido & Powerhouse Hobbs teaming up on AEW Collision

A new match for this Saturday’s AEW Collision was made late Wednesday night as former ROH World Champion Bandido will team with Powerhouse Hobbs against Big Bill & Bryan Keith.

Bandido and Hobbs issued the challenge in a promo shared on X which was later confirmed. Hobbs recently defeated Bill in a recent street fight and still isn’t done with him, and Bandido said that he also isn’t done with ROH World Champion Chris Jericho after losing to the champion last Saturday.

Hobbs is from the Bay Area of California where the show will be held while Bandido said Oakland is “Latino country.” It will be their first time teaming up while Keith and Bill haven’t been on AEW TV as a traditional team since last October.

Here’s the current lineup for Saturday’s live show from Oakland:

  • TNT Champion Daniel Garcia defends against Adam Cole
  • Kenny Omega live in person
  • FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly
  • Powerhouse Hobbs & Bandido vs. Big Bill & Bryan Keith

AEW Collision live results: Chris Jericho vs. Bandido ROH World title match

Chris Jericho will defend the Ring of Honor World title against former champion Bandido on tonight’s AEW Collision from Phoenix, Arizona.

Bandido has targeted Jericho since his December return from injury and this will be a rematch from September 2022.

The AEW Trios titles will be on the line as the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) defend against TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker.

IWGP men’s Strong Champion Gabe Kidd will make his Collision debut as he takes on The Butcher while Max Caster will host another open challenge in search of his first win in months.

Hologram will make his in-ring return for the first time since last October as he battles The Beast Mortos, and Julia Hart will try to rebound from her January loss to Jamie Hayter as she takes on Queen Aminata.

The Murder Machines (Brian Cage & Lance Archer) will be in competition as they hope to score a future Tag Team title match.

**********

Collision began with several AEW stars walking through the back. Toni Storm was one of them until she got attacked by Mariah May, who dragged her to the stage and headbutted her. May took a microphone and called for a spotlight. May said that Storm never knew how to write an ending, and that May will write one in Storm’s blood. She wanted them to have a Hollywood ending at Revolution.

(I was hoping the Grand Slam Australia match was the blowoff, but in hindsight, they probably weren’t going to end this year-plus long feud at 1:30 AM on a Saturday.)

We cut from that to a recap of the Continental Championship match from last week’s Grand Slam: Australia. Kazuchika Okada was in the back, talking about how he put the dog down last week. He promised to do the same to anyone else who stepped up. The announce team for this week was the original Dynamite team of Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Jim Ross.

Hologram defeated The Beast Mortos

Hologram is still great, and his rollout continues to rock. His chemistry with Mortos is fantastic, as even if they flub a spot, they seem to transition into something just as cool as what they had planned. Komander teaming up with Hologram is a good sign, as those two can be a quality team in a quickly-rebuilding tag team division.

We got a recap of La Faccion Ingobernable attacking Hologram in October, putting him on the shelf until his return two weeks ago. We got a hot start, with Hologram taking Mortos to the floor with a triple-rotation headscissors and a hurricanrana off the top rope to the floor. Mortos evaded a splash off the top rope and pounced Hologram out of the ring, then followed him out with a tornillo to the floor.

After a commercial break, Hologram cut Mortos off on the top rope with a kick, but Mortos came back with an Avalanche Gorilla Press Slam for a nearfall. Mortos set Hologram up for another move off of the top rope, but Hologram reversed it into a top-rope headscissors. Hologram hit a big torpedo dive to the floor. Some more back and forth led to Mortos avoiding a springboard dive and hitting a sick crucifix bomb on the stage.

Mortos went for a gorilla press off the stage, but Hologram slipped away and hit a crucifix bomb on the stage. Hologram followed it with a ropewalk into a crucifix bomb for another nearfall. Mortos came back with a pop-up Samoan drop for a nearfall. Mortos hit a Bane-style backbreaker but lost Hologram on a powerbomb attempt, allowing Hologram to hit a Spanish Fly. Mortos immediately came back with a lariat.

Mortos took Hologram to the top rope again, but he countered another Gorilla Press into a headscissors before hitting the rolling sunset bomb for the pin and the win. After the match, Mortos jumped Hologram and tried to rip his mask off before Komander made the save to return the favor from two weeks ago. Hologram and Komander teamed up to take Mortos down and out with a double sliding kick.

We got a hype video for Speedball Mike Bailey, who Tony Schiavone said would be debuting soon in AEW.

Harley Cameron Town Hall

Lexy Nair was in the ring to interview Harley Cameron, who came out to a big ovation. Cameron talked about a little blonde girl in Australia who grew up with big dreams, watching wrestling with her grandmother. She told her grandmother that she would grow up to be a professional wrestler. That little girl was Harley Cameron…’s next door neighbor Suzette Dickinson. Cameron didn’t know what ever happened to Suzette, but she took Suzette’s dream and ran with it. Cameron promised to keep going until everyone in AEW felt the wrath.

(A good promo from Harley to rebound from last week’s loss. The loss didn’t hurt her in Phoenix, as she was still over with this crowd.)

Gabe Kidd defeated The Butcher

This was a very good showcase for Kidd, who has rocketed up my list of the best wrestlers in the world. The Butcher matched his style well as the two laid in heavy strikes, but Kidd won decisively. The Don Callis angle is very interesting as both men have feuded with Kenny Omega since he’s returned from injury.

The announcers put over Kidd’s performance at Wrestle Dynasty against Kenny Omega. Kidd charged Butcher at the bell and clubbered on him at the bell. Don Callis was seen watching backstage as Kidd took the Butcher over with a Saito suplex. Butcher took control on the floor with punches and chops, but Kidd sent Butcher up and over with an Exploder suplex.

Kidd rocked Butcher with a lariat on the floor, then sat cross-legged in the ring as Butcher crawled back to the ring. Kidd had Butcher’s handprint across his chest, and Butcher made sure to leave a few more with some chops across the ropes. Kidd hit a rebound lariat and a piledriver to get the win. Kidd laid in some shots after the bell.

Kyle Fletcher & Don Callis were backstage with Lexy Nair. Fletcher kept interrupting Nair, who eventually asked about Will Ospreay’s steel cage challenge for Revolution. Callis wanted Nair to stop trying to gaslight them. Callis said that Ospreay was physically impressive but mentally deficient. Fletcher accepted Ospreay’s challenge for Revolution.

(Revolution is a packed card already, but Fletcher/Ospreay III is my most anticipated match. If they stick the landing, this could be one of the most effective and best feuds in AEW’s short history.)

Julia Hart defeated Queen Aminata

A good TV win for Hart. I don’t know where exactly to fit her in, but Aminata needs to start being highlighted in this women’s division. Her work is clean, and I think she can hang with the top names in the division.

Aminata snuck a quick nearfall in before laying Hart out with a pair of strong kicks. Hart came back with a flurry in the corner as we went to a commercial. After the break, Aminata hit a pair of snap suplexes before hitting a twisting Perfect-Plex. A face wash boot in the corner scored Aminata a pair of nearfalls.

Hart came back with a thrust kick and a running forearm for a nearfall. Hart went up for a moonsault but caught boots from Aminata. Aminata hit a pair of German suplexes, but Hart cut off a third and caught Aminata in an Octopus Hold for the submission win.

Murder Machines (Brian Cage & Lance Archer) defeated two victims

Cage and Archer dragged their unnamed opponents to the ring and demolished them. They hit one of these poor geeks with the Murderbomb for the quick win.

After the match, Cage called out the Hurt Syndicate and said that this was a preview of what the Murder Machines were going to do to them. The Hurt Syndicate came out, with MVP asking who they thought they were calling out the champs. MVP called out the Murder Machines for making their hay on locals trying to make names for themselves. The Hurt Syndicate were the champions, and they called the shots. MVP said that if the Murder Machines beat a real tag team, then they would talk business.

We got a stylized video from Action Andretti & Lio Rush, announcing their new team name of The Cru.

We got a recap of Wednesday’s scene with Megan Bayne, Penelope Ford, Kris Statlander, & Thunder Rosa. We got video from after Dynamite with Statlander and Rosa, with Statlander saying to swing first the next time Ford & Bayne tried to laugh them off.

AEW World Trios Title Match – Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) (c) defeated Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

A solid trios title match for TV, and a solid defense for the Death Riders. Wheeler Yuta is getting a lot of good heat in these trios matches. This will sound like a wild comparison to make, but Yuta reminds me of Rocky Maivia in the Nation of Domination as the underling that gets the most heat of the group. The post-match angle was very good, with the babyface army working together long enough for Cope to take PAC out.

Parker & Yuta started as Excalibur brought up how PAC was the first man to hold two AEW titles simultaneously, and that TNT Champion Garcia had the chance to be the second. Castagnoli tagged in took control of Parker. Yuta tagged in as the crowd chanted We Hate Yuta. Parker snapped Yuta off the ropes and tagged in Menard, who ran wild and got a nearfall on PAC. Castagnoli cut him off as the match broke down. The challengers laid in the punches in the corner and posed as we went to a commercial break.

The champions were back in control as we came back, with Yuta tagging in and getting more Yuta Sucks chants. The champs ran an uppercut train on Menard in the corner for a nearfall. PAC feigned a springboard attack and mocked Menard for attempting to counter, but Menard caught him with a powerbomb. Garcia tagged in and ran wild with side suplexes, including getting Castagnoli up for one after some 2.0 assistance.

Garcia hit a Twist and Shout on Yuta for a nearfall, then locked him up in the Dragon Tamer. Parker fought off PAC as he tried to interfere, but Castagnoli lifted Garcia up into a Jackhammer to break the hold. Yuta and Garcia traded forearms, with Yuta resorting to biting Garcia’s head. Castagnoli tagged in and hit a lariat for a nearfall. Castagnoli swung Garcia into boots from PAC for a nearfall, prompting a Don Leo Jonathan reference from Jim Ross.

PAC went for the Black Arrow on Garcia, but 2.0 cut him off. Parker tagged in and took PAC down with a superplex for a nearfall that Yuta made the save on. Castagnoli cut off a double team elbow with an uppercut on Parker, allowing PAC to lock on the Brutalizer for the tapout and the win. PAC refused to release the hold as the champs laid boots in to Garcia and Menard. The Undisputed Kingdom came out to make the save, and the babyfaces fought off the Death Riders. Cole and Garcia stared each other down before bumping fists, and the Kingdom hit their finish on PAC.

Jon Moxley & Marina Shafir came out to even up the numbers, but Cope came out with a pair of chairs. The babyface army walled off the Death Riders as Cope hit PAC with a Con-Chair-To. The crowd chanted for an encore, so Cope obliged by hitting a second Con-Chair-To to PAC. The Death Riders looked dismayed as the ringside doctors checked on PAC.

Deonna Purazzo & Taya Valkyrie were backstage with Lexy Nair. They had issue with Harley Cameron getting all of this attention and told her to move to the back of the line or be moved out of the way.

Max Caster came out for his Best Wrestler Alive Open Challenge. He said that he was disrespected by “Hangperson” Adam Page, who attacked him before the bell and chased him around the building before he was ready. He asked whoever answered his challenge tonight should shake his hand like a man.

Best Wrestler Alive Open Challenge – Brody King defeated Max Caster

As someone who was sick of the Acclaimed, the turnaround I’ve done on them since the breakup angle is astounding. Caster being so overbearing that he turned his own teammates against him, then consistently getting beaten up in these open challenges has been very entertaining. My guess is that Anthony Bowens will answer one of these challenges at some point to get his singles run started.

King offered a handshake to start the match, then held onto Caster’s hand before chopping him down. Caster tried escaping a head trap, but failed as King chopped him in the chest. King hit his cannonball in the corner to win the match and send Caster to 0-3 in his Open Challenge Series.

The Outrunners were backstage with Lexy Nair, who congratulated them on their win on the Ring of Honor Global Wars show in Australia. They were talking their talk before The Hurt Syndicate walked past. The Outrunners asked about facing the Murder Machines, and what would happen if they won. MVP said that the good news is that if they beat the Murder Machines, they would get a title shot. The bad news was that if they beat the Murder Machines, they would get a title shot. Lashley and Benjamin chuckled as they walked away.

Harley Cameron vs. Deonna Purrazzo was announced for Wednesday’s Dynamite. Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Keith was also announced, as Don Callis put a bounty on Ospreay’s head ahead of Revolution.

ROH World Title Match – Chris Jericho (c) defeated Bandido

This was the best Chris Jericho singles match I’ve seen in a while. Bandido worked well with him and had the crowd behind him. Jericho got a clean win, but not in a manner that would kill Bandido’s momentum on his return. A very good main event to another quality episode of Collision.

Both men adhered to the Code of Honor, with both men pulling each other in before Jericho poked Bandido in the eyes. Bandido came back and sent Jericho to the floor, following him with a pair of dives to the floor. Bandido sent Jericho back in the ring and went for a springboard, but Jericho caught Bandido with a Codebreaker for a nearfall. Jericho hit the ten punches in the corner before taking Bandido off the top rope with a hurricanrana.

Bandido fought back with chops on the apron before taking Jericho off the apron with a headscissors to the floor. After a commercial break, Jericho took Bandido down to his knees with chops. Bandido fired back with chops of his own before poking Bandido in the eyes again. Bandido came back with a head kick and a top rope tornillo before hitting a pendulum facebuster for a nearfall.

Jericho came back with a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. The two traded boots and punches before they knocked each other down. The two went back-to-back and took their paces for a duel. Bandido went for the X-Plex, but Jericho caught Bandido’s leg and locked on the Walls of Jericho. Bandido got to the ropes, then picked Jericho up with a one-handed Gorilla Press Slam before scoring a nearfall with a Frog Splash.

Jericho cut Bandido off with a dropkick, but Bandido cut off his triangle dropkick with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the ropes for a nearfall. Jericho held onto the ropes on a dropkick attempt and hit a Lionsault for a nearfall. Bandido caught Jericho with an inside cradle for a nearfall before Jericho came back with a flying headscissors – which Schiavone noted he called “The Hi Spot” – for a nearfall.

Bandido cut Jericho off on the top rope and hit an avalanche moonsault powerslam for a nearfall. Bandido hit the X-Plex and went for the 21-Plex, but Jericho countered it into a Victory Roll for the win to retain the title.

Two title matches, Gabe Kidd return announced for AEW Collision

Image: AEW

Two title matches and the return of NJPW star Gabe Kidd highlight this Saturday’s AEW Collision lineup, being taped Wednesday in Phoenix, Arizona.

After Bandido began targeting Ring of Honor World Champion Chris Jericho (seen above) at last December’s ROH Final Battle, the former ROH World Champion will get his shot at regaining the title he hasn’t held since late-2021.

It will be a rematch from a September 2022 Dynamite where Jericho successfully defended the title in his first title reign.

The AEW Trios titles will be on the line as the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) will put the gold on the line against TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker. The champions recently defended against the Undisputed Kingdom’s Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong.

NJPW men’s Strong Champion Gabe Kidd will make his return to AEW for the first time since last June’s Forbidden Door against an opponent to be named. Kidd’s last AEW TV appearance came just before that PPV in a tag team match on Rampage.

Max Caster will held another open challenge in hopes of scoring his first AEW singles win since a June 2023 house show.

The Murder Machines (Brian Cage & Lance Archer) have called out AEW Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate in hopes of scoring a future title shot.

In a rematch from last October’s WrestleDream where they competed in a best-of-three falls match, Hologram will take on The Beast Mortos. Hologram picked up the win that night, but missed the better part of five months due to an injury and welcoming a new child into his family.

Here’s the current lineup with spoilers from the show coming shortly to our website:

  • ROH World Champion Chris Jericho defends against Bandido
  • AEW Trios Champions The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, PAC & Wheeler Yuta) defend against TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker
  • The Beast Mortos vs. Hologram
  • Gabe Kidd vs. TBA
  • Max Caster vs. TBA

AEW/ROH Global Wars results: Three title defenses from Australia

For the first time since September 2019, the Ring of Honor brand (under the AEW banner) held a Global Wars event, taped before this past Saturday’s AEW Grand Slam Australia.

Unlike in 2019, this was a supershow that can best be described in today’s lingo as “Forbidden Door-esque” — a special edition of ROH on HonorClub where two outsiders attempted to walk away with ROH silver.

**********

Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were wearing their invisibility cloaks at ringside.

Bandido & Los Outrunners defeated The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

Los Outrunners caused video distortion in their entrance to reminds us of the 1980s. Bill specifically was upset, saying they had a contract against The Outrunners and not Los Outrunners. Jericho did not follow the Code of Honor and, instead, waved at Bandido followed by a second attempt that led to Jericho flipping him off, Bandido kicking Jericho, and the match commencing.

Bandido and Keith really got the match started here with Bandido getting the best of it. Jericho got in and Bandido got the best of him too. El Truth got in and Jericho managed to knock his mask off. However, thankfully, Truth got the mask back and put it back on. You know, it’s impolite to take a luchador’s mask off. Bill was super over as Jericho tagged him in to square off with El Turbo. Turbo took hold of Bill’s hand in a wrist lock and walked the top rope around the ring. Jericho and Keith were setting up to yank him off, but Bandido and Truth ran over and yanked them down.

After completing his lap around the ring, Turbo celebrated to the crowd before Bill took his head off with a clothesline. Keith tried taking Turbo’s mask off but that would be a disqualification, so referee Aubrey Edwards stopped him. Bandido got the hot tag and ran wild, including press slamming Jericho onto Keith. As much as the fans liked that, they liked Big Bill taking him out even more.

The match led to Jericho getting the Liontamer on Bandido, but the former ROh World Champion got away from the current champion. Jericho tried to hit Bandido with the title belt but missed. Los Outrunners grabbed the belt from him and Bandido pinned Jericho with the 21-Plex.

After the match, the Learning Tree attacked the victors and Jericho hit Bandido with a chair. Before he could do it again, out ran Powerhouse Hobbs to clear the ring of the minions. Jericho hit Hobbs with a chair in the back, but Hobbs no-sold it, knocked the chair out of Jericho’s hands and then threw him down. Bill got in and they went face-to-chest before Bill walked off.

I know we just set up Jericho vs. Bandido, but it’s weird that the champion was a setup man for Hobbs to set up a match with Bill.

– Athena was backstage and reminded us that she is the Forever ROH Champion and said she is soon to be the world dominator. Tonight, Alex Windsor has invited herself in to get a title shot. Athena thinks that’s so wonderful, but this is a lesson for all the minions. She is underappreciated, overlooked, and is the best champion in all of wrestling.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defeated IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Robbie Eagles to retain

The fans (jokingly) booed the rules being announced. Nigel McGuinness, Christopher Daniels and Jerry Lynn were announced as the judges, but they were watching from the production truck.

In the first minute of the match, Eagles, one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, went for a figure four and Moriarty scooted to the ropes for his first break. Moriarty was in a hammerlock and teased going into the ropes but instead stomped on Eagles’ foot. They ran near the referee which caused him to cover up. In the confusion, Moriarty punched the TMDK member with a closed fist. When the referee turned back around, Eagles punched Moriarty, earning a warning.

Moriarty slapped on a Border City Stretch and Eagles got the ropes for his first break. A minute later, after a bow & arrow, Moriarty transitioned into another submission attempt and Eagles got the ropes. That was almost immediately followed up by Eagles getting on a heel hook that forced Moriarty to get the ropes. So, barely five minutes into the match, both men were down to just one rope break.

Moriarty got on the Border City Stretch and you could see him debate whether or not to get the ropes, but he had to use his last break. Eagles came right back with a missile dropkick and another leg hold, which made Moriarty use his last break.

Eagles got a bunch of nearfalls, including from the Turbo Backpack. He used 4.5 on Moriarty’s leg, which was hurt earlier, but Moriarty bounced back and won with a schoolboy while holding the ropes — technically legal since neither man had rope breaks left.

This was a really good match, but I know I am not the only one who was hoping Eagles would win the belt.

Mark Davis pinned Tommy Knight

Despite being the newest member of the Don Callis Family, Davis was a babyface here and the crowd loved seeing him. This was a hoss battle as Knight is listed as 6’2″ 323 pounds, and looked every ounce.

We had a chop battle where unfortunately for Knight, not only did Davis shrug off them off but Davis had stiffer chops. Davis did the facewash with his fist instead of a running boot. Knight hit a Spicolli Driver, but only got a one count. Davis won with a Pendulum piledriver.

– Lexy Nair was with Alex Windsor, who said tonight was not the first time she’s wrestled tougher competition and if Athena underestimates her, let her, but we could be seeing the new ROH Women’s Champion as a result.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) defeated MxM Collection (Mansoor & Madden) to retain

Two weeks ago on HonorClub, MxM Collection stole Guevara’s title belt. Now all blinged out, MxM tries to win it legitimately in the first ever ROH Tag Team title match in Australia. Is there Honor among thieves?

Mason and Mansoor decorated the stolen tag belt with bedazzled jewels and pictures of themselves. Mansoor followed the Code Of Honor with Dustin, but only wanted the tips, not a full handshake.

Mansoor took an arm drag, kipped up and then challenged Rhodes to do the same. He didn’t take the arm drag or the challenge as he tagged out to Guevara which the crowd booed. He then tagged right back out, but this time Rhodes went down, but Mansoor went for an elbow drop, Rhodes rolled out of the way and the match was on. MxM teased doing a dive, but just bounced off the ropes. Rhodes then teased doing a dive, but angered MxM by stopping, doing a Spinnerooni and posing.

Guevara did a top rope 450 from the top rope to the floor. Inside the ring, MxM cut off Rhodes for the heat, working the lower back. Mason attacked his face with his butt and then MxM danced and bounced his head between their hips. Finally, Mansoor missed the top rope elbow and Rhodes made the hot tag. Guevara hit a dive to Mansoor and then gave a shoutout to his daughter. A four-way broke out and Mason used a spinning sidewalk slam for a near fall. They went for the Centerfold, but Rhodes broke that up and hit a Canadian Destroyer on Mansoor.

Mason accidentally distracted the referee so Rhodes could hit Golden Globes followed by him knocking Mason’s head into Mansoor’s groin. Guevara used a GTH on Mason and pinned Mansoor after a senton.

The referee went to give Guevara his title back, but Mason ran in, stole it, and ran away with it. This was a fun house show match.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated Alex Windsor to retain

Momo Watanabe shockingly stuck around after Grand Slam and sat ringside for this match as well. If you’re not familiar with Windsor, she was once upon a time the longest Rev Pro British Women’s Champion in history. Now, she has a chance to make more history as she challenges Athena on day 800 of her reign.

Billie Starkz was not here tonight due to Athena being disappointed in her performance on the Jericho Cruise, leading to her actually ripping up Starkz’s $2200 plane ticket. Athena hit the first big move of the match as after Windsor was dropped in the corner of the ring, using a baseball slide to knock her off the apron and onto the pretty grey mats followed by a spinebuster into the apron. In the ring, Windsor ran through Athena’s clothesline and hit one of her own. They took turns running the ropes but being stopped by a strike from the other. Athena went for a springboard crossbody, but got caught and dropped with the S.O.S. Slam.

Windsor got on the sharpshooter, but the problem was no one thought Athena was gonna lose the title here, so the crowd didn’t really get into it and Athena got out of it. Athena tried picking Windsor up, but Windsor tried backdropping out. However, Athena bounced back into position and hit a move that went from a power bomb into knees to the face. Windsor used a spinning fisherman’s buster from the middle rope, but Athena came back, used a shotgun dropkick and an O-Face for the win to remain YOUR forever ROH Women’s World Champion.

Final Thoughts:

This was an excellent example of what they should do with ROH. The weekly show is full of contracted ROH wrestler vs. local guy matches but there’s no effort put into making the matches special or stand out at all. On this show, you had two non-ROH wrestlers battling for championships and a third put in a position to look good against a contracted wrestler. Instead of just doing an hour of squash matches with two competitive matches bookending things, give us a reason to bite onto why the wrestler already in the ring has this opportunity before they get squashed and beaten in two minutes.

If you enjoy my writing, check out my book, 40 Years Of Pay-Per-View: Book 1: 1985-1990. It is unquestionably the greatest book ever written and is available on Amazon in both paperback and eBook formats.

AEW/ROH Global Wars matches announced for Australia debut

For the first time in years, Global Wars has returned to Ring of Honor as part of AEW’s first-ever visit to Australia this Saturday.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will defend against Alex Windsor as part of what is being called AEW/ROH Global Wars. It’s the first time that term has been referenced for the Brisbane show, done to distinguish it from the Grand Slam Australia portion being taped for TNT and Max.

Where these matches will be seen was not announced with ROH’s weekly HonorClub show as a strong possibility.

Athena has held the title for nearly 800 days while the UK native Windsor has competed in AEW twice, last seen being defeated by Toni Storm last June. This will be her first ROH singles match.

Reigning ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will defend against native son Robbie Eagles. Moriarty has held the title for over 200 days with four title defenses. It will be his first time he has faced the NJPW regular who competed in ROH last July. He has unsuccessfully challenged for both the ROH World and men’s TV title in the past.

In another match, ROH World Champion Chris Jericho will team with Bryan Keith & Big Bill against former champion Bandido & The Outrunners. Since returning in late-December, Bandido has targeted Jericho and defeated Keith last Saturday in his first post-injury televised match in nearly 18 months.

A fourth match will see ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara put the titles on the line against MxM Collection.

Global Wars, formerly Border Wars, was a series of shows between ROH and NJPW which began in 2012 and ended in the fall of 2019.

Here’s the current lineup for this Saturday:

Grand Slam Australia (TNT/Max following NBA All-Star Weekend activities) —

  • Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Kyle Fletcher
  • AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada defends against Buddy Matthews
  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Toni Storm
  • TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Harley Cameron

  • ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defends against Robbie Eagles
  • ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defends against Alex Windsor
  • ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara defend against MxM Collection (Mansoor & Madden)

Bandido will return to AEW in-ring action for the first time in nearly two years as he faces Bryan Keith.

In a Continental Classic rematch, Kyle Fletcher will go one-on-one with Mark Briscoe.

Ahead of their Continental title match at Grand Slam Australia, Kazuchika Okada and Buddy Matthews will have a face-to-face confrontation.

The show is rounded out by former champion Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford, Dustin Rhodes in action ahead of his Dynamite match with MJF, and a live Harley Cameron concert.

**********

Collision began with promos from Mark Briscoe & Kyle Fletcher. Sir Elton John played us in to Collision from Houston, Texas. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call. They were running down the card when a security guard was flung across the screen by Marina Shafir.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was behind her, saying that the show began when he said it did. Moxley said that he was tired of Cope demanding a World Title match and made it clear that he called the shots. Moxley said that he had 1,000 reasons to deny Cope a title shot, but the major one was that he didn’t like Cope. Moxley said that while he wouldn’t give him a title shot, he would fight him whenever he wanted. He told Cope to bring his friend Jay White and his half-broken neck to Australia and pray that Moxley gave him the grace to walk out of Australia.

(A solid promo to start the show, with the crowd giving Moxley a ton of heat.)

Trios Three Way Match – The Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) defeated Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Carlie Bravo, & Shawn Dean), & TNT Champion Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker, & Matt Menard

(A phenomenal start to the show, as this may have been the best match on AEW TV in 2025 to this point. This is the ideal version of a trios division, as singles stars teamed with their established partners/friends. This Houston crowd was red hot for everything, which helped the cause. And the turnaround the Kingdom has done since the MJF feud has been impressive. Their in-ring work has helped to rehab them all, and now they feel like a real challenge for the Death Riders come Wednesday. An excellent segment.)

Strong and Taylor started off, with Strong baiting Taylor into the Kingdom corner to get peppered with shots from him and O’Reilly. Taylor took them down with a clothesline and brought O’Reilly into the STP corner, but Menard blind tagged O’Reilly to sneak in. Quick tags were the game here as Menard pulled double duty by hopping on commentary as Garcia hit the ten punches on The Infantry. STP took control of Garcia with an apron attack as we went to commercial.

Garcia took Taylor down with a side suplex as we came back from the break, but the Infantry pulled 2.0 off the apron to keep a tag from happening. Garcia was forced to tag out to O’Reilly, with the Kingdom running wild. We got a move train with everyone getting a big shot in as the Houston crowd was rabid. More fast action saw Taylor get taken out on the floor with a Total Elimination, and Cole scored the win with The Boom on Bravo.

After the match, The Death Riders attacked everyone. Claudio Castagnoli took the mic and congratulated Cole before reminding everyone who the best trio really was. The Kingdom fought back, with O’Reilly tapping out Yuta with an ankle lock. The Death Riders fled, and on behalf of the Kingdom, Cole challenged the Death Riders to a Trios Title match on Dynamite. The match was quickly confirmed for Wednesday in Austin, Texas.

We got a video package for FTR. They said that they’ve taken a back seat for too long, and that they wanted the World Tag Team Titles for a third time.

Max Caster was backstage with Alicia Atout, who asked about Hangman Page. Caster said that how Page acted on Dynamite wasn’t very manly, and that if Page wanted a fight, he should accept his Open Challenge when it returns on Dynamite.

$200,000 Bounty Match – Bandido defeated Bryan Keith

(This Collision rocks so far. Bandido looked awesome in his return, earning the crowd even as some were behind Keith as a native Texan. That duel at high noon spot was phenomenal, and the crowd ate it up. I truly believe that with his gimmick and his work, Bandido has the upside to be the next major lucha star in America if he’s given the chance.)

Keith threw his duster in Bandido’s face to sneak a boot in, but Bandido quickly came back and dropped Keith with a dropkick. Keith caught a diving Bandido with a forearm as he came off the ropes before we went to a commercial break. After the break, Bandido came back with a step-up tornillo and a one-armed gorilla press for a nearfall.

Keith cut off a 21-Plex with a lariat, then stunned Bandido with a rising headbutt. Keith took Bandido off the top rope with an exploder suplex. The two traded strikes before they stood back-to-back. The two men faced off at high noon by taking ten paces to the corner before taking each other down with boots. Bandido got Keith on his shoulders to hit the X-Plex, then hit the 21-Plex to score the win in his return match.

Powerhouse Hobbs was backstage with Lexy Nair. He told Big Bill that his boy wasn’t able to collect the bounty, and that he would be in Texas all week for a fight. He said that he would be in Austin on Tuesday, which is when Dynamite is being taped next week.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush, Dralistico, & The Beast Mortos) defeated Ares Alexander, Jay Alexander, & Brick Savage

(Another great segment with AEW taking advantage of their location this week by highlighting the lucha stars on their roster. I was worried about Hologram’s momentum drying up after getting hurt a few months back, but the crowd was still into him as he made the save for Komander to possibly form a new team.)

LFI got a quick win, with Rush getting the pin after the Bull’s Horns. They beat down the locals after the match before Komander made the save. He took down Mortos with a springboard poisonrana, but the numbers were too much for him. LFI went to unmask him before Hologram made his return to AEW to get revenge on the men that put him on the shelf. Hologram and Komander posed before they hit big dives on LFI and brawled to the back.

In the meantime, Rush was threatening a referee with a chair. Other referees tried to hold him back, but Rush shoved them away and laid one out with a big forearm as the announcers said that big fines were headed Rush’s way.

Lexy Nair attempted to interview Megan Bayne, who stonewalled her. Thunder Rosa turned the corner and tried to welcome her to AEW, but Bayne stonewalled her too. Rosa took over the interview as Bayne went on her way, excited to be back in Texas to take on Penelope Ford tonight.

Harley Cameron, Live In Concert

(This segment had a real chance to bomb, but this was as good as you could hope a segment like this could be. This felt straight out of a 2015 episode of NXT in all the right ways. The crowd has really taken to Harley Cameron, and Mone was a great foil here for her to set up her next title defense.)

Cameron had Puppet Mercedes Mone in tow and kicked off by singing about she wanted to ride the Mone Train. She was quickly cut off by Mercedes Mone, who asked if Cameron was stupid or dumb. Mone was about to call Cameron a loser again, but Cameron cut her off to sing another song about Mone feeling the wrath. She got the crowd to chant Feel The Wrath, but Mone cut her off again.

Mone called Cameron a loser and told her to leave the ring, but the crowd chanted for Harley. Cameron said that she wanted to be where Mone was and wouldn’t stop until she got a shot at the title in her hometown. Cameron said that the most entertaining Mone had ever been was when she was a puppet. Mone slapped Cameron, but Cameron bonked her with the mic to send her to the floor. Mone accepted Cameron’s challenge and promised to embarrass Cameron in her hometown.

Buddy Matthews was sat backstage with Lexy Nair. They were scheduled for a sitdown interview with both Matthews and Kazuchika Okada, but Okada hadn’t arrived yet. Okada burst in late and asked for a water, but Matthews decided to cut to the chase. He wasn’t falling for Okada’s comedy schtick and knew what he was capable of, but didn’t think he knew what Matthews was capable of. Okada called Matthews a bitch, and Matthews feigned a swing to make Okada jump. Matthews left, and Okada threw his water down in anger.

Dustin Rhodes defeated Izzy James

This was not the old Bayley fan Izzy, in case I needed to make that clear. Dustin hit his moves and won in the time it took for me to write this down.

After the match, Rhodes took the mic and said MJF wasn’t the devil. Rhodes had looked the devil in the eyes, knocked his teeth out, and dragged his way out of hell. Rhodes said that everything MJF was planning to do to Rhodes had already been done, and that he would make sure MJF met the devil on Dynamite.

The Death Riders were in the back. PAC said that they had been Trios Champions for what felt like an eternity with no challengers and credited the Undisputed Kingdom for stepping up. Castagnoli gave the Kingdom credit for having teeth and promised to pull them all out. PAC and Castagnoli left, leaving Yuta by himself. All he did was give a little smirk, and the people booed him.

Thunder Rosa (w/ Toro The Mascot) defeated Penelope Ford

(I don’t know if Ford got dinged up or got gassed at some point, but there was clearly a point where these two were stalling for Ford to get her bearings. We seem to have Megan Bayne’s first program set with a former Women’s World Champion.)

Toro is the Houston Texans mascot, for those wondering. Rosa scored a nearfall with a sliding lariat before Ford forced her back into the corner. Ford sent Rosa to the apron before hitting a knee drop as we went to commercial.

Ford got a nearfall with a gutbuster after we came back from the commercial break. Rosa avoided a handspring charge into the corner and fired up, hitting a hesitation dropkick and a suplex for a nearfall. Ford came back with a Muta back handspring elbow and a boot across the face. Ford went to the top, but Rosa avoided the moonsault and got a nearfall. Ford hit a shotgun dropkick, but Rosa caught her with a victory roll for a nearfall. Rosa caught Ford with strikes, but Ford Matrix-ducked a lariat and hit a cutter for a nearfall. Rosa hit a backstabber and the Tijuana Bomb for the win.

After the match, Megan Bayne came out and went face-to-face with Rosa. Ford was still in the ring and jumped Rosa from behind, leaving Bayne to pick the scraps and leave Rosa laying with an F-5.

We got footage of Ricochet beating Swerve Strickland on Dynamite, then going to a DEFY Wrestling event to gloat in front of Strickland’s hometown fans in Seattle. Strickland made a surprise appearance to attack Ricochet, with Prince Nana helping him land a House Call.

Legendary Houston rapper Bun B was backstage with Lexy Nair, promoting his Trill Burgers that they were serving in catering. Ricochet entered the frame to confront Bun B, who was friends with Swerve and was part of his Wembley entrance last year. Ricochet helped himself to a Trill Burger before spitting it out and accosting the poor guy making the burgers. Ricochet said to thank Prince Nana for the Embassy robe he stole after Dynamite.

Non-Title Exhibition Match – AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defeated Shay Carmichael

(A good angle here with the misdirection attack on May. I’ve had my issues with this angle throughout, but they seem to have the match hot right in time for the payoff.)

May came out with a big bag, the brand of which I wasn’t privy to. May jumped Carmichael before the bell, hit her moves, and won with the Mayday.

After the match, May dressed Carmichael up like Storm and smeared lip stain on her. Luther The Butler came out with a tray, revealing the bloody shoe May used all those months ago. May took the shoe and went to attack Carmichael again, but Toni Storm was in her place and attacked May. Storm went to piledrive May on the ring steps, but May escaped through the crowd.

Backstage, The Don Callis Family were laying people out, as they do. Mark Davis was hesitant but was told to start pulling his weight and joined in the attack.

Kyle Fletcher defeated Mark Briscoe

(An excellent main event to cap off the clear-cut best episode of AEW television this year. Briscoe was phenomenal here as the never-say-die babyface against this cocky heel, and the spots playing off of the Continental Classic match brought this match up to another level. This quickly supplanted the trios opener as the best AEW match of 2025, and I cannot recommend this episode of Collision enough. Awesome, awesome show.)

Fletcher jumped Briscoe with a boot at the bell and laid the boots to him in the corner. Briscoe came back and sent Fletcher to the floor, where he followed him out with a dive. Briscoe pulled out the plunder, tossing a chair in the ring and setting up a table on the floor. Briscoe sent Fletcher to the floor again, but Fletcher caught Briscoe and lawn darted him into the ringpost. Briscoe came up bloody, and Fletcher put him down with a powerbomb into the apron as we went to a commercial.

After the commercial, an even bloodier Briscoe fired back with shots before both men laid each other out with clotheslines. Briscoe laid in chops and hit an exploder suplex for a nearfall. Fletcher fought out of a Jay Driller and hit a hanging DDT. Fletcher hit a running knee and a cradle Tiger Driver for a nearfall. Fletcher hit the Yakuza Kick, but Briscoe countered the Brainbuster with a Fisherman’s Buster for a nearfall.

Fletcher cut Briscoe off on the top rope, but Briscoe slid out of a Brainbuster and went for a Cut Throat Driver that won the first match between these two. Fletcher held onto the referee and snuck in a low blow before hitting a brainbuster for a close nearfall. Fletcher dropped Briscoe with half-and-half suplexes before he slumped to the apron. Fletcher pulled the table into position, but Briscoe knocked Fletcher off the ropes and hit a Froggy Bow off the top rope through the table to a massive pop.

Briscoe got Fletcher in the ring and hit another Froggy Bow for another nearfall. Briscoe set up another Cut Throat Driver, but Fletcher held onto the ropes. Briscoe cut Fletcher down with a chop and set up a top-rope Jay Driller, but Fletcher escaped and hit two Yakuza Kicks. Fletcher hit the top rope Brainbuster to score the win.

After the match, Fletcher took the mic and bragged to the crowd about his win and promised to do the same next week in Australia.

Bandido in-ring TV return set for AEW Collision

Image: AEW

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido will make his long-awaited return to the AEW ring this Saturday on AEW Collision.

Bandido will take on Bryan Keith of The Learning Tree with Chris Jericho promising Keith he will double a $100,000 bounty if he can do to Bandido what Big Bill did to Powerhouse Hobbs recently.

The 29-year-old had been on the injured list since June 2023 with a broken wrist suffered in a match with Konosuke Takeshita that required multiple surgeries. He returned at ROH Final Battle to target Jericho, but got concussed hitting a dropkick and was out another month before returning on last Saturday’s Collision to again run off Jericho.

Bandido returned to action, ironically enough, on the Jericho Cruise this past weekend in three trios matches alongside The Outrunners.

Saturday’s show will also feature a “halftime” concert from Harley Cameron as she attempts to get a TBS title match against Mercedes Mone on Grand Slam Australia.

Here’s the current lineup for Houston, Texas:

  • Harley Cameron concert
  • Bandido vs. Bryan Keith
  • Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe
  • Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford
  • Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Shane Taylor & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) vs. Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker

Bandido makes AEW return on Collision

A month after sustaining a concussion during his initial comeback, Bandido once again made a comeback in a Tony Khan-owned ring to target Chris Jericho as part of Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Following Jericho and Bryan Keith’s victory over The Outrunners, Jericho and Keith set up a table for Big Bill to chokeslam both men through when the Mexican star’s music hit and he ran out to make the save. After taking out Bill, he hit a tornillo on Jericho and then press slammed Keith through the table.

It was very similar to December’s Ring of Honor Final Battle where Bandido also ran out to attack the three heels. However, he concussed himself after hitting the mat following a dropkick on Jericho. He was slow to get up with the referee even checking on him at one point. Keith and Lee then did clunky-looking spots with him before eventually leaving the ring.

He later confirmed he sustained a concussion.

Bandido has been out of action since June 2023 after breaking his wrist in an AEW Rampage match with Konosuke Takeshita. Complications have kept him out longer than expected, but vignettes began appearing on AEW TV in December ago heralding his return. It appears the former ROH World Champion is targeting the current champion in his return feud.

Bandido confirms concussion suffered at ROH Final Battle, shares update

Bandido’s return did not go as planned.

After vignettes promoting his return had been airing on AEW programming for weeks, Bandido made a surprise appearance at ROH Final Battle on Friday and suffered a concussion shortly after he did so.

Following the ROH World title match between Chris Jericho and Matt Cardona, Bandido hit the ring to save Cardona from a 3-on-1 attack by The Learning Tree. He hit a missile dropkick on Jericho but landed on the back of his head. Our own Dave Meltzer later noted in Sunday’s Daily Update that he suffered a concussion.

Bandido posted a message to Instagram confirming the news.

A translation of his post reads:

“What a weekend! I can only thank God for allowing me to wake up one more day after everything that happened! The blow was to a sensitive area of my head, and now I just have to wait and hope there’s no brain swelling. Thank you to everyone who has been messaging me to ask about my current condition! It’s been hard to deal with myself these past few days—too much frustration is invading my mind. The toughest battle of my life is coming, and it’s with myself! All I can tell you is that I will try to return to the ring a thousand and one times!! Whether I make it back someday or I’m left trying…!”

He also included a quote from 2006’s Rocky Balboa:

“You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.”

The injury is just the latest setback for Bandido. He suffered a broken wrist in a match against Konosuke Takeshita on the June 14, 2023, AEW Rampage taping that required two surgeries. He hasn’t wrestled an official match since.

Bandido suffered concussion at ROH Final Battle

Just as quick as he returned, Bandido is already injured.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that Bandido suffered a concussion upon his return at Final Battle, making the save for Matt Cardona by going after Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith.

“We are told Bandido did suffer a concussion Friday night from landing on the back of his head doing a missile dropkick after the Chris Jericho win over Matt Cardona,” Meltzer wrote in Sunday’s daily update. “Obviously Jericho vs. Bandido was scheduled in an ROH title match at some point. With concussions, you don’t know what it means as far as how long someone will be out of action.”

Upon making his return, Bandido went to the top rope and took out Jericho with the dropkick, landing on his head. He managed to recover and take out the rest of The Learning Tree to end the segment.

Bandido had been out of action since last summer dealing with a wrist injury that needed surgery on twice. In the weeks prior to Final Battle, vignettes aired on AEW television building to Bandido’s return.

Bandido makes surprise appearance at ROH Final Battle to aid Matt Cardona

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Bandido made his surprise return during Friday’s ROH Final Battle, saving Matt Cardona from an attack by The Learning Tree.

ROH World Champion Chris Jericho had just defeated Cardona to retain the title when Bryan Keith and Big Bill started beating up the challenger. Bandido’s music hit and he ran to the ring, kicking Bill and dropkicking Jericho.

However, he did appear to hit the back of his head hard on the mat on the dropkick and was extremely slow to get up with the referee even checking on him at one point. Keith and Lee then did clunky-looking spots with Bandido before eventually leaving the ring.

Bandido has been out of action since June 2023 after breaking his wrist in an AEW Rampage match with Konosuke Takeshita. Complications have kept him out longer than expected, but vignettes began appearing on AEW TV several weeks ago heralding his return. His AEW in-ring return has yet to be announced.

Bandido was ROH World Champion for 152 days in 2021 before having to vacate it due to getting COVID-19 before he was supposed to defend the championship. Never having lost the title in the ring became an angle which led to a title vs. title match with Jonathan Gresham in April 2022.

During Jericho’s first reign as ROH Champion, he successfully defended against Bandido in September 2022.

Bandido return vignette airs on AEW Dynamite

Bandido is on his way back to AEW.

A return vignette for the star aired during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite episode, signaling his imminent return to the promotion after 18 months on the shelf.

The 29-year-old Bandido suffered a wrist injury in June 2023 and underwent surgery to repair the injury that month. A second surgery was then deemed necessary after the wrist did not heal properly, with the star undergoing his second surgery for the injury in December 2023.

We reported at the end of October that Bandido had been backstage at an AEW event and was ready to return.

After a standout international career including CMLL in Mexico and a legacy-defining rivalry with Hiromu Takahashi in NJPW, Bandido officially signed with AEW in November 2022, reportedly turning down a WWE offer to sign with the company.

The vignette from Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite can be seen in the embedded video below. Our full report from Wednesday’s episode is here.
