Andrade El Idolo vs. Juice Robinson set for next week’s AEW Collision

A match between Andrade El Idolo and Juice Robinson is set for next week’s Collision.

The go-home show for WrestleDream will see Andrade El Idolo face Juice Robinson. after Idolo attempted to defeat Jay White in a singles match on Saturday. However, constant interference from other members of Bullet Club Gold prevented that from happening. White managed to score the win after Robinson blasted Idolo with a plaque.

Best Friends will also face The Kingdom. Both members of The Kingdom on Collision Saturday night blamed Best Friends for costing them a chance at the ROH Tag Team titles at Rampage Grand Slam on Friday. They said and said they would prove they really aren’t best friends in honor of neck health awareness month.

The Kingdom in recent weeks have aligned themselves with Roderick Strong, who has felt betrayed by Adam Cole’s newfound association with MJF.

Here is the updated lineup for next Saturday’s Collision:

  • Andrade El Idolo vs. Juice Robinson
  • Best Friends vs. The Kingdom

Bryan Danielson vs. Ricky Starks Texas Death Match signed for next AEW Collision

After going to war in a violent strap match at All Out, Bryan Danielson and Ricky Starks will escalate things even more in a Texas Death Match on next Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Starks got one over on Danielson on Saturday’s Collision by delivering a low blow and then the Roshambo to pick up the win in a tag match featuring himself and Big Bill against Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli.

Next Saturday’s show from Grand Rapids, Michigan, will also feature an AEW Tag Team title match as FTR will defend against The WorkHorsemen.

After FTR’s win over The Iron Savages Saturday, Anthony Henry and JD Drake confronted FTR to put the match in motion given FTR’s recent open challenge decree.

Hometown favorite Rob Van Dam will also return to action for AEW for the the first time since losing to then-FTW Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry.

In a singles match, Jay White will return to action against Andrade El Idolo. White’s Bullet Club Gold confronted Andrade after his win over Scorpio Sky Saturday, leading to the match.

Here’s the current lineup:

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Ricky Starks in a Texas Death Match
  • AEW Tag Team Champions FTR defend against The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake)
  • Andrade El Idolo vs. Jay White
  • Rob Van Dam in action

Andrade El Idolo wants to face Malakai Black at AEW All In

Andrade El Idolo is not finished with the House of Black.

The 33-year-old regained his previously stolen mask on Saturday’s AEW Collision by defeating Buddy Matthews in a ladder match. However, it appears Andrade still has a score to settle with the faction. He took to Twitter on Monday to call out Malakai Black for AEW All In.

I want the next one!!! I would like to see you face to face at All In London because you are European and it is with your people. Mexico vs Netherlands. @AEW #ALLIN #AEW #London

Andrade’s program with House of Black has been a featured part of AEW Collision since the debut show in June. He defeated Matthews on the first episode and Brody King via DQ the following week. After his victory on Saturday, Andrade is now 3-0 since making his return.

Andrade and Black’s rivalry dates back to 2017 in NXT. Black defeated Andrade at NXT TakeOver: Orlando on April 1, 2017, and then took the NXT Championship from him a year later at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, 2018. Black then defeated Andrade for a third straight time 10 months later on SmackDown in the same building as their title match the previous year.

Andrade and Black also teamed together at Full Gear 2021 in a loss to Cody Rhodes and PAC.

Andrade vs. Buddy Matthews ladder match set for next AEW Collision

Andrade El Idolo will have a chance to get his treasured mask back from the House of Black’s Buddy Matthews in a ladder match on next Saturday’s AEW Collision.

Julia Hart of the House of Black took Andrade’s mask recently which he has wanted to get back ever since. Andrade attempted to get into the building on Saturday’s Collision but was escorted out by security due to the House of Black defending the AEW Trios titles on the show.

Malakai Black, Brody King and Hart will be banned from the building for the match.

In trios action, Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson & The Gunns will take on El Hijo del Vikingo, Action Andretti & Darius Martin. Robinson and Jay White defeated Martin and Andretti Saturday, followed by the Gunns attacking Martin and Andretti after the match. This will be Vikingo’s Collision debut.

The new additions join the previously announced AEW Tag Team title match between champions FTR and MJF & Adam Cole.

Here’s the current lineup for Hartford, Connecticut:

  • AEW Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) defend against MJF & Adam Cole
  • Andrade El Idolo vs. Buddy Matthews in a ladder match for Andrade’s mask
  • El Hijo del Vikingo, Action Andretti & Darius Martin vs. Juice Robinson & The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn)

AEW Collision live results: CM Punk, FTR & Ricky Starks eight-man tag team match

The final stop before Sunday’s Forbidden Door has arrived with Saturday’s live edition of AEW Collision from Toronto.

In the headliner, CM Punk will team with FTR and Ricky Starks in eight-man tag team action against Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White & Juice Robinson and The Gunns.

For the first time ever, NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi will take on Swerve Strickland. This will be Tanahashi’s second-ever AEW TV match.

The second women’s Owen Hart Foundation match will take place as Willow Nightingale faces Nyla Rose.

Andrade El Idolo will look to go 2-0 in his return as he takes on House of Black’s Brody King after defeating Buddy Matthews last week.

Powerhouse Hobbs will make his Collision debut against an opponent to be named.

Sting & Darby Allin will reveal their mystery partner for Sunday’s trios match.

Other segments include Christian Cage addressing the TNT Championship situation, and Miro sharing his thoughts after his return last week.

**********

– In a cold open, we got promos from both teams in the eight-man tag team main event. CM Punk, FTR, & Ricky Starks questioned whether this match was wise for their opponents to take. Meanwhile, Bullet Club Gold & The Gunns said that they were ready to fight and that every show would be the Gunn Show.

Who Is The Third Man?

24 hours before the Forbidden Door is opened, AEW Collision is live from the Scotiabank Arena. Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness were on the call as Tony Schiovane was in the ring. He went to welcome out Darby Allin & Sting, but Chris Jericho & Minoru Suzuki came out instead. They were peeved at how Allin & Sting made them wait to find out who their partner would be at Forbidden Door. Jericho noted that Sammy Guevara wasn’t there because he was a bit miffed at how well Jericho and Suzuki got along. Jericho and Suzuki showed off their new best friend handshake before Jericho began menacing Schiovane, believing that he knew who the partner was already.

Darby Allin & Sting came out to make the save. Allin addressed Guevara, noting that his common sense may have kicked in by not coming, but if he did show up at Forbidden Door, Darby would kick his ass. Darby then turned to Jericho, noting that their partner kicked Jericho’s ass at the Tokyo Dome. With the card looking like it does, that only left one name for Jericho and Sting to pick. With the crowd chanting his name, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito made his way to the ring. The match is official for Forbidden Door – Tetsuya Naito, Darby Allin, & Sting vs. Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, & Minoru Suzuki.

Naito went face-to-face with Jericho as Kevin Kelly noted that Naito beat Jericho for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13 in 2019. Jericho backed away as Naito’s music played again to end the segment.

– We got a video package, recapping Miro’s successful return to action last week. We cut to Miro in the back. He talked about his year-long exile, and how he was summoned back. Miro said he walked alone, kneeling to no man. He renounced his god and his wife and said that he was now godless.

Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana)

While he’s clearly not at his physical peak, Tanahashi still has an incredible aura that makes North American crowds go wild for him. This was a good primer for any fans who didn’t know Tanahashi. He won with his big move and the announcers made it clear what a big deal he is in the New Japan landscape.

Swerve came out in a robe reminiscent of the former Crown Jewel of the Embassy, the late Jimmy Rave. Tanahashi caught Swerve with his reverse crossbody before playing his air guitar to the crowd. He gave Strickland the guitar, who mockingly played it before Tanahashi dropkicked him in the knee.

Strickland recovered and hit a headscissors that sent Tanahashi out of the ring. After more air guitar shenanigans, Strickland crotched Tanahashi and grounded him as the crowd chanted for Tanahashi. Tanahashi skinned the cat and took Strickland to the floor, but Strickland caught Tanahashi in the apron on a baseball slide. He hit a pump kick as we went to picture-in-picture break.

Back from break, Swerve was working over Tanahashi as the crowd chanted Go Ace. Tanahashi cut Swerve off and hit a somersault senton for a nearfall. Swerve avoided the Slingblade and hit a rolling facebuster for a nearfall. Tanahashi caught Swerve in a pair of rollups before hitting a Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Tanahashi hit the Slingblade for a nearfall. Tanahashi went up for the High Fly Flow but caught nothing but knees before Swerve rolled him up for a nearfall.

Swerve hit his big side kick before going to the top, but Tanahashi moved out of the way of the Swerve Stomp. Tanahashi went to the top again but lost his footing and slipped off. Swerve went to meet him at the top, but Tanahashi swatted him down. Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flow and scored the win.

After the match, MJF’s music played. MJF showed up on the video screen, saying that he wasn’t actually going to be there to watch Tanahashi’s preview match. MJF said that he would embarrass Tanahashi at Forbidden Door. MJF said that after a discussion with Tony Khan, their match would be going on first at Forbidden Door. He said that he didn’t want to sit through any more of the “indie jabrones” than he had to and that Tanahashi was not on the level of the Devil.

Andrade El Idolo defeated Brody King (w/ Julia Hart) by disqualification

Andrade continues to impress during his comeback, as this was another quality match. He’s got a few options to help even the numbers against the House of Black.

Andrade came into this match with his pectoral area taped up. Andrade kept King at bay, hitting a headscissors in the ring before low-bridging King to the floor. King got on the apron, but Andrade sent King into the post. Andrade hit a moonsault over the ring post to King on the floor, but only got a one-count when he rolled King into the ring. Andrade worked over King’s knee before King lifted him onto the top rope and chopped him to the floor as we went to picture-in-picture break.

King chopped Andrade down as we came back from break. Andrade fought back with elbows, but King lifted Andrade onto the apron and hammered him in the chest. He tried locking on the hanging sleeper, but Andrade hung him up on the ropes. Andrade dropkicked King into the turnbuckle before hitting a Dragon Screw in the ropes. Andrade continued his work on King’s knee, then hit a running forearm to take him down.

Andrade hit a big lariat in the corner before hitting the running knees in the corner for a nearfall. King fought out of the hammerlock DDT, hitting a rolling elbow on Andrade on the top rope. He struggled to get Andrade up into a fireman’s carry but powered through and hit a running Death Valley Driver into the corner. King followed up with a cannonball but his knee buckled on a Gonzo Bomb attempt. Andrade went for the Figure Four, but Julia Hart got on the apron with his mask. The distraction didn’t work, as Andrade ducked a rolling lariat and hit a big back elbow. He locked on the Figure Four and bridged up, but Buddy Matthews came out and jumped Andrade to cause the disqualification.

They beat up Andrade after the bell, with Matthews sending Andrade into a lariat before lifting him into King’s Gonzo Bomb. From the video board, Malachi Black watched on as his House stood tall.

– In the ring, Tony Schiovane welcomed out TNT Champion Luchasaurus & Christian Cage. Christian came out with the title belt over his shoulder, having never allowed Luchasaurus to even hold the belt after winning it last week. The crowd chanted for Christian as he talked about how he left Collision last week in a bad mood. He knew he would come to Toronto in a few days, and now he’s in an even worse mood! Christian goes on the cheap heat offensive against his own hometown, noting that Toronto bred losers and lived with mediocrity. Christian said that the TNT Title Open Challenges were over, saying that people had to earn the title shot like he did. Christian took a potshot at Cody Rhodes before giving a speech as if he was the champion.

– We got pre-tape promos from everyone in the men’s bracket of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament before we got a rundown of the bracket. CM Punk and Satoshi Kojima will kick off the tournament at Forbidden Door, while the other three matches will take place on next week’s Collision. We got a highlight video of Skye Blue winning her tournament match before looking at the women’s bracket, leading into our next match.

Owen Hart Foundation 2023 Women’s Tournament Quarter-Final Match: Willow Nightingale defeated Nyla Rose (w/ Marina Shafir)

A fine television match to get Nightingale onto the next round while heating her up for her AEW Women’s Title match on Sunday.

The winner of this match will take on the winner of Athena vs. Billie Starkz, which will take place on the Forbidden Door pre-show. After Rose clubbered on her for a moment, Nightingale cartwheeled out of an Irish Whip and hit an enzuigiri. Rose cut off a chop, leading to a test of strength that Nightingale turned into an inside cradle for a nearfall. Rose bailed to the floor, where Shafir’s distraction allowed Rose to send Nightingale into the post as we went to picture-in-picture break.

Nightingale fought back out of the corner as we came back. She hit a middle rope dropkick for a nearfall as she shook out the arm. Nightingale couldn’t get Rose up for the powerbomb, allowing Rose to hit a suplex and a gourdbuster for a nearfall. Rose got Nightingale up for the Beast Bomb, but Nightingale fought out and hit a Pounce. Nightingale followed it up with the Babe With The Powerbomb for the win.

After the match, The Outcasts surrounded the ring to menace Toni Storm’s opponent at Forbidden Door, but Skye Blue made her way to the ring with a chair to make the pre-emptive save.

– Backstage, Lexy Nair was with Scorpio Sky. Sky ran down his accomplishments while noting that he allowed success to change him. Sky said that he was his true self now after his injury layoff and that he was back.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jeremy Prophet

Hobbs came out on his own, no QTV members in sight. Hobbs got a jumpstart on Prophet before crushing him in the corner with back elbows. Prophet tried to get a roll-up, but Hobbs didn’t even go down. Hobbs bludgeoned Prophet with lariats to both the front and back of the head. The main event spinebuster ended proceedings here.

– We got a rundown of next week’s Collision card. The men’s Owen Hart Tournament quarterfinals will take place – Hobbs vs. Dustin Rhodes, Samoa Joe vs. Roderick Strong, Ricky Starks vs. Juice Robinson – as well as MJF’s in-ring Collision debut.

Jay White, Juice Robinson & The Gunns defeated CM Punk, FTR & Ricky Starks

The most important goal of this match was to showcase the reaction for CM Punk outside of Chicago. And was there ever a strong reaction for Punk. The crowd was fired up either way. A whole lot of people were chanting for Punk, and a whole lot of people were booing Punk. Punk was eating it all up, of course. The match itself was much like last week’s main event. It was good, but it could’ve done with less time in the middle. Again, it’s to get Punk on screen as long as physically possible. It also gave Jay White a showcase win while filling out the Bullet Club Gold ranks.

Punk came out to a mixed reaction, leaning more negative than positive. Kevin Kelly astutely noted that they weren’t in Chicago anymore. Jay White teased starting with Punk but tagged out to Robinson. The crowd was heavily split, as strong CM Punk chants were getting booed down as the Bullet Club team worked on Harwood. FTR got the upper hand for their team after Austin Gunn tagged in. Starks took Austin Gunn to old school, but Gunn tagged out to White. White asked for Punk, who tagged in. They traded chops and teased each other’s finishers before White sent Punk to the floor, where his teammates jumped Punk. Punk’s partners rushed over to get him out of the fray as we went to commercial.

Back from the commercial, and Harwood was bringing Robinson down hard with a superplex before holding on to hit a powerbomb with Wheeler. Kevin Kelly noted new matches for the Zero Hour – the United Empire team of Kyle Fletcher, Jeff Cobb, and TJP would take on the Los Ingobernables team of Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi, and BUSHI. Two Canadians would face off as Montreal’s Stu Grayson would go one-on-one with Vancouver’s El Phantasmo. Swerve Strickland would team with Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona against Roppongi Vice and El Desperado.

Meanwhile, the Bullet Club side got the advantage on Punk and worked him over. The crowd booed down Punk chants and Punk’s attempt at a comeback. After a commercial break, Punk knocked White off the top rope and hit a high crossbody. White cut off Punk’s attempt to get to the corner, but Punk whipped White into a rising knee in the corner. Punk hit a neckbreaker, but the Gunns knocked FTR off the apron. Robinson tagged in and went for a Go To Sleep on Punk, but Punk knocked him down with a high kick. Punk kicked away the Gunns and tagged in Starks.

Starks ran wild on the Gunns, hitting a tornado DDT on Austin for a nearfall. Starks went for a Rochambeau, but the match broke down into a Pier Six brawl as everyone began brawling in and around the ring. White blind tagged in, but Starks caught him with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Starks set White up for a Rochambeau, but White caught him in a rollup with the tights for a nearfall. Starks hit a brainbuster for a nearfall on Starks. We got a finisher train, featuring a wild Wheeler dive to the floor.

White caught both Punk and Starks with uranages, but Starks came back and ran wild with spears on everyone. He went for a second spear on White, but Robinson caught him with the Left Hand of God. White followed it with the Blade Runner to score the win. After the match, White and Robinson threw up the Bullet Club Gold guns, and the Gunns joined in. It looks like The Gunns have officially joined Bullet Club Gold as we fade to black.

Andrade El Idolo returning as part of AEW Collision roster

Andrade El Idolo is returning to AEW.

The 33-year-old was mentioned in a press release on Wednesday as one of the names who will headline the newly announced AEW Collision show.

‘AEW: Collision’ will feature headliners including Miro, Samoa Joe, Thunder Rosa, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Andrade El Idolo,” the press release reads.

Andrade suffered a torn pectoral muscle in a trios match on the August 17 Dynamite. He still took part in the Casino Ladder Match at All Out the following month but hasn’t wrestled since. He underwent surgery to repair the injury in November.

Andrade was involved in a physical altercation with Sammy Guevara backstage at the October 5 AEW Dynamite. While Andrade was sent home in relation to the incident, Guevara performed on the show later that night.

Last month, Andrade attended the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles. He would later clarify that he is still under contract with AEW and was only accompanying his wife, Charlotte Flair, to the event.

Andrade debuted for AEW on the June 4, 2021, edition of Dynamite. He would later tell Milenio that he signed a three year deal with the company.

Andrade El Idolo says his AEW contract expires soon

Andrade El Idolo says his AEW contract will expire soon.

Andrade appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony over the weekend. However, he later clarified during an interview with Lucha Libre Online that he is still under contract with AEW and was only accompanying his wife to the event.

Andrade said:

“I’m with AEW, to make it clear. Soon my contract will expire. I had a tear in my chest and I got surgery in November. I was out for 4 months but soon I’ll be back. I was at the Hall of Fame accompanying my wife and to be next to a great friend Rey Mysterio…He’s the symbol for all the Latinos, Rey Mysterio,” transcriptions/translations via WrestlingNews.co

Andrade debuted for AEW on the June 4, 2021, edition of Dynamite. Later that year he would reportedly tell Milenio the deal was for three years.

Andrade hasn’t wrestled since the Casino Ladder Match at AEW All Out last September. He was involved in a backstage altercation a month later with Sammy Guevara and sent home

AEW President Tony Khan was asked about Andrade’s status with the company at the Full Gear post-event media scrum last November. Khan said that many wrestlers take sabbaticals from AEW only to come back and be more involved and that is a possibility for Andrade as well.

AEW’s Andrade El Idolo undergoes surgery for torn pectoral muscle

Andrade El Idolo wrote on social media that he recently underwent surgery for a torn pectoral muscle.

On Twitter, Idolo wrote that he suffered the injury a few months ago during a match.

“My first surgery. I can’t believe it happened,” Idolo wrote. “A few months ago, I tore my pectoral. Thanks god! I could and wanted to finish my match. I kept working because I love the business but we know that many people do not value your effort, these days off I took the opportunity to go to Dr.”

Idolo pulled out of an independent booking earlier this month due to what he said was “an issue to attend”. While recording a message explaining his pulling out, he was wearing what appeared to be a hospital gown.

Idolo’s last match in AEW was on September 4, where he lost a ladder match at All Out that was eventually won by MJF. He was scheduled to face 10 of the Dark Order during the October 5 taping of AEW Rampage, but was suspended from the company following a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara.

Monday News Update

Bryan and I will be back tonight covering the fallout from Survivor Series, Raw and the rest of the pro wrestling and MMA news with Wrestling Observer Radio. If you have a video subscription, you can ask questions about the topics discussed during the show.

Regarding the report on what happened backstage with Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens. The story is accurate in the sense Reigns got upset after being popped, and had noticeable bruising under his left eye. There was talk of a possible broken eardrum but that was not confirmed to us. What is confirmed is that it came from a slap by Owens, Reigns was upset, but 20 minutes later it had all blown over so there is no lingering issue regarding it.

Andrade has undergone surgery for a torn pec. Those usually keep one out of action around eight months.

I did a Sports Illustrated article covering the first and last War Games, and tons of incarnations in the middle and discussed the good and bad of the rules changes

Raw tonight is from Norfolk, VA. They are doing the first hour commercial free. Becky Lynch opens the show. Miz vs. Dexter Lumis and if Lumis wins he gets a WWE contract is on the show. That match was announced for many weeks back, then didn’t happen, then was forgotten, and then two weeks ago was announced for this show. Given a first hour with no commercials and coming off a PPV, the rating should be well up from the past three weeks. The NFL game tonight is Steelers vs. Colts which are both teams with losing records so it may be down from most of the season. Zoey Stark is backstage at the show according to PWInsider so that means she may appear on the Main Event tapings, since they’ve been using those to give NXT talent main roster looks in front of real crowds.

One of the biggest indie events of the year took place yesterday at Dorton Arena in Raleigh for Big Time Wrestling: Scott Steiner won Boogie Man Jam Battle Royal, Kerry Morton b Brian Pillman Jr. to retain the NWA world jr. title, Danny Miles b Neon Ninja to keep the BTW title, Matt Hardy b Crowbar, Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson b Mark & Jay Briscoe, Savannah Evans b Amber Nova, Ricky Steamboat & FTR b Brock Anderson & Nick Aldis & Jay Lethal via triple submission finish. Steamboat looked amazing in the ring and seemed fine after the show. (thanks to Donny Anderson and Will Mikes)

This was one of those weeks where AEW ratings will tell you good faith vs. bad faith. A .32 is excellent for the show the day before Thanksgiving. This is the first year that the night before Thanksgiving show beat the week before. There are a lot of notes but last week was the first week in months that Dynamite beat Raw in men 18-49. While Raw does have it harder against the NFL rather than the NBA, AEW’s show came on a far worse night for drawing viewers. AEW did great in men 18-34 and was way up in all male categories. Women numbers were also way down from last week and from most weeks. Chris Jericho vs. Tomohiro Ishii held up better than most main event segments have done in recent months.

The Jon Moxley-William Regal open had topped 1 million viewers on YouTube, which is a level AEW TV clips rarely hit. It would be a good number for WWE.

On today’s MMA Hour, Alex Pereira said that he was willing to face Khamzat Chimaev on the 1/21 PPV show, but only at 205 pounds because getting to 185 is a hard cut for him. Hi claimed Chimaev turned down the fight. Chimaev had said Pereira would be an easy win for him and he’d beat him in the first round. Chimaev also fights at either 170 or 185, so 205 would be a giant jump for him.

The New Japan tour continues at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday morning from Shizuoka with heavyweight tournament bouts with Alex Coughlin & Gabriel Kidd vs. Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens, Great O’Khan & Aaron Henare vs. Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer, Aussie Open vs Evil & Yujiro Takahashi, Tetsuya Naito & Sanada vs Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste and Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano vs Hirooki Goto & Yoshi-Hashi.

Thanks to Connor McGrath and Shannon Walsh for the reports last night’s WWE show in Portland, ME. They did an injury angle early in the show to take out Sheamus, but Kevin Owens (unadvertised) replaced him and Owens & Drew McIntyre & Ridge Holland & Butch beat Usos & Sami Zayn & Solo Sikoa in the main event. Sheamus did come out during the match when Zayn tried to run away and threw him back in the ring.

Tales from the Territories tomorrow night at 10 p.m. on Vice will be about Jim Crockett Promotions, which includes Jim Cornette, Baby Doll and Nikita Koloff.

WWE is offering two-for-one tickets in Milwaukee with the code BUCKSWWE for the 12/12 Raw show. This offer expires at midnight local time. Bucks is the name of the basketball team.

Other Wrestling

  • Andrade el Idolo, who is currently suspended from AEW, posted a video saying he would have to pull out of an event in Cudahy, California due to an “issue to attend,” saying he would explain at a later date. During the video, he was shown wearing what appeared to be a hospital gown. Andrade, who was set to face Dralistico, has been replaced by Rey Fenix.

I spent two decades promoting NWA Champions and I enjoyed my time doing that, whomever was wearing the title. I always did my job.”

Sammy Guevara done focusing on negativity, won’t comment on Andrade AEW altercation

Sammy Guevara isn’t commenting on the altercation he had with Andrade El Idolo at last week’s Dynamite.

On the latest episode of his vlog, Guevara briefly addressed the situation with Andrade. Guevara said he knows people want him to comment on what exactly happened, but he’s done focusing on the negativity.

“I know some people want me to comment on what exactly happened backstage at AEW Dynamite,” Guevara said. “But man, I’m done focusing on the negativity. I feel like when you are on this trajectory to where I’m headed, there’s going to be people that are going to do everything in their power to try to drag you down to their level. And I know I’m above that. So I’m not going to focus on any of that bullsh*t. I’m going to focus on where I’m headed. They say sky’s the limit, but there’s a whole universe out there, and that’s where I’m headed. I’m not going to focus — I’m not going to comment on any of the bullsh*t.”

Guevara said he’ll instead focus on the things he’s grateful for in life like his health, his wife Tay Melo, his job with AEW, and his fans.

Andrade was sent home following the confrontation with Guevara at Dynamite last Wednesday. Guevara still wrestled on the show, teaming with Chris Jericho to defeat Bryan Danielson & Daniel Garcia in the main event.

Andrade was also pulled from a match against Preston “10” Vance that was scheduled for last Friday’s Rampage.

The physical altercation between Guevara and Andrade happened after the two got into a war of words on Twitter earlier in the week. That war of words included Andrade tweeting that he would see Guevara on Wednesday.

The Twitter exchange started after Andrade said in an interview with Mas Lucha that Guevara is the one wrestler who he’s had a problem with in AEW. Andrade said Guevara once complained in the locker room about Andrade hitting him too hard during a match.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that there are multiple stories going around about what happened during last week’s Guevara/Andrade incident:

There are multiple versions of the story out from different talent. The version of the story we heard by someone I would personally trust the most in a situation like this is that the altercation was that Andrade attacked Guevara with no warning, landed two punches and it was quickly broken up. Guevara wasn’t injured at all, as he had no marks on his face and wrestled in the main event later that night. He was not punished because he was attacked and didn’t fight back, but it was broken up immediately.

The other version, which [many] have said, is that Andrade spun Guevara around by the arm, Guevara shoved him in retaliation and Andrade landed two punches before it was broken up. This person said Andrade started it, Guevara shouldn’t have shoved him but he was just reacting to be attacked, and that Chris Jericho pushed that Guevara shouldn’t be punished because he didn’t throw a punch in retaliation.

Sammy Guevara, Andrade warned by AEW about not fighting, altercation details emerge

Both Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo were both warned by AEW management on Tuesday about not fighting or else they would be sent home.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed everything they heard in the wake of Guevara and Andrade’s backstage skirmish Wednesday that resulted in the latter being sent home.

Following their back and forth on Twitter this week after an Andrade interview where he said had an issue with Guevara, Meltzer said both men were talked to Tuesday and were told no fighting or else both would be sent home. In Andrade’s case, he was told he would not be fired if he got into a fight. Both agreed and said there would be no issues.

Meltzer said he got five different accounts of what happened: three of which were identical with a fourth pretty close to the other three.

The consistent story is that Guevara did not throw any punches or fight back even after Andrade punched him, possibly a “sucker punch” according to what Meltzer and Alvarez heard. One account had Andrade spinning Guevara around, Guevara then pushing him, and Andrade punching him.

Meltzer said he had heard Andrade was waiting in a hallway for Guevara and got two punches in before it was broken up. He noted that despite the punches, Guevara didn’t have any marks on him for his main event match on Wednesday’s Dynamite.

While Andrade’s side is what was originally reported by TMZ, both Meltzer and Alvarez noted that if Guevara threw the first punch and had indeed fought Guevara, he wouldn’t have worked the main event with Chris Jericho against Daniel Garcia & Bryan Danielson.

Andrade was sent home and there is no word on what AEW plans to do with him now. It was noted that he is under contract for several more years and there is speculation he would like to return to WWE — part of the reason for this behavior this week.
