Hikaru Shida defeated Dani Jordyn

Good opener. This was slightly more competitive than a squash match.

They opened with a lockup. They traded shoulder tackles. Jordyn hit a pendulum DDT off the second rope. She rolled through into an armbar. Shida powered out and hit a running knee in the corner.

Shida used a missile dropkick for a two count. Shida missed an enzuigiri but connected on a running knee to the back of the head for a near fall.

The finish saw Shida hit a running knee strike and use a Michinoku driver for the pin.

QT Marshall defeated Clutch Adams

There was nothing wrong with this from a technical standpoint but it lacked in excitement, a constant in Marshall matches.

Marshall throws an apple in the air and catches it during his entrance. That spot has to go away.

Marshall came out with his ribs taped up, selling an attack from Lance Archer. Adams went after the ribs with kicks and a kitchen sink.

Adams made a series of covers but only scored one counts. Marshall hit a backbreaker into a flatliner for a near fall.

After selling most of the way, Marshall slipped off the back of Adams and hit a QT Cutter out of nowhere for the pin.

Marko Stunt defeated Jason Cade

I think this may have been a shoot. Not really, but this was very physical.

Stunt opened with a slingshot sunset flip and a running knee strike. Cade cut him off with a forearm strike, then whipped Stunt face-first into the buckle. The elbow bloodied up Stunt’s nose and may have broken it.

Stunt slid off Cade’s back and hit a poison rana. He followed up with a suicide dive.

The finish saw Stunt hit a crucifix bomb, then follow with a 450 splash for the pin.

**********

The ringside doctor checked on a glassy-eyed Stunt after the match. Taz and Excalibur promised an update on Stunt later in the show. No such update was provided.

**********

Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford) & Jimmy Havoc defeated Musa & Lee Johnson

This was endless and a miss.

Sabian controlled Johnson early on with some mat wrestling. Havoc got a tag and nailed Johnson with strikes.

Musa got a tag. Havoc acted as though he was going to lock up with Musa but punched him in the face instead. Havoc and Sabian worked over Musa.

Musa came back with a flying headscissors and a dropkick. Johnson tagged in and hit Sabian with a dropkick for a one count.

Havoc took the referee and Sabian gouged Musa’s eyes. Sabian hit an inverted atomic drop on Musa into a one-legged dropkick by Havoc. Sabian hit a PK. Havoc hit a cool underhook suplex. Musa hit Sabian with a back elbow and Sabian spent the rest of the match selling on the apron.

Johnson got a hot tag and ran wild on Havoc. Havoc cut him off with an Acid Rainmaker and hit the implant DDT for the pin.

Rey Fenix defeated Shawn Dean

Fenix is so spectacular. This is the second straight week where I thought Fenix had the best match on the show. In both cases he sold way more than you would expect a star to sell for a job guy. In both cases, it helped the job guy and didn’t hurt Fenix one bit.

Dean hit a nice dropkick. Fenix answered with a hook kick. Fenix used a cross armbreaker but Dean forced a break.

Dean avoided a brainbuster and hit a step-up knee in the corner. Fenix rolled outside and Dean hit a huge tope con giro. Dean hit a tiger driver but Fenix kicked out at one.

Dean hit a series of strikes. Fenix hit a tornillo kick and used a spinning muscle buster for the pin.

Luther defeated Jon Cruz

Cosmetically, Luther does not necessarily look 51 years old. The problem is that he moves like he’s 51 years old.

This was a total squash.

Luther hit chops, kicks and stomps. He slammed Cruz into the barricade. Luther hit an inverted suplex.

Luther used a camel clutch and gouged Cruz’s mouth and eyes. This was the finish and not a DQ for some reason.

Private Party defeated Ryan Rembrandt & Mike Reed

Private Party matches tend to have a template. Marq Quen typically sells a lot and Isiah Kassidy gets the hot tag. They deviated from that here as Kassidy did most of the selling.

Private Party opened with some cool tandem offense. Kassidy got clotheslined on the top rope by Rembrandt for the heat.

Quen got a hot tag and hit a backflip kick and a plancha. Kassidy entered for a step-up stunner and an assisted sliced bread on Rembrandt for a near fall.

Kassidy hit Silly String on Reed but Reed was not the legal man. Kassidy hit Rembrandt with a facebuster.

The finish saw Kassidy hit Rembrandt with a swanton bomb for the pin.

Sammy Guevara defeated Alan Angels

This probably would have had a good reaction in front of a crowd.

They tied up. Guevara got a trip takedown. Angels answered with his own takedown. Guevara hit a leapfrog dropkick. They traded chops. Guevara hit a snap vertical suplex.

Angels was able to get a crossface applied. Guevara turned Angels over with a cradle. Angels mocked Guevara’s pose. Guevara hit a running knee strike.

Guevara did some squats with Angels on his shoulders. Angels turned Guevara over with a crucifix and got a near fall. Guevara hit a delayed vertical suplex. They exchanged chops and strikes into a double down. Angels teased a GTS. Guevara answered with a knee strike.

The finish saw Guevara hit the GTH for the pin.

Darby Allin defeated Serpentico

They had a nice match to cap off this episode.

Serpentico controlled the early part of the match after hitting a thumb to the eye. He used a slingshot double stomp and a slingshot cutter.

Allin made a comeback and hit a superplex. He sent Serpentico outside and hit a Coffin Drop to the floor. That’s a spectacular move.

Allin tossed Serpentico back inside and used The Last Supper for the pin.

Excalibur and Taz were the commentary team for this show. Dasha Gonzalez did the ring announcing.

Colt Cabana defeated Shawn Dean

This was a fine little opener. I had no idea why they were going so long at the outset but the extended opening sequence played into the story of the match.

Bryce Remsburg was the referee for this bout. He wore a mask.

They opened with a long sequence of British-style mat wrestling. Cabana tied up Dean in various holds. Dean got tired of being outclassed on the mat and fired up with strikes.

Dean hit a straight right hand and covered for a one count. Cabana answered with flip, flop and fly and a flying apple.

The finish saw Cabana launch himself out of the corner into a Superman pin on Dean.

Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy w/ Marko Stunt) defeated Ryan Rembrandt & Mike Reed

This was quick. Jungle Boy looked great with his dives. Luchasaurus was moving well.

Mike Posey reffed this match and also wore a mask.

Jungle Boy opened with a series of spectacular dives. Luchasaurus hit a tail whip. Dean and Rembrandt cut off Jungle Boy for the heat.

Rembrandt hit a belly-to-belly for a near fall. Jungle Boy made his comeback on Reed and made a hot tag to Luchasaurus.

Luchasaurus hit a yakuza kick on Rembrandt. He used a headbutt to set up a chokeslam and a standing moonsault on Reed for a near fall.

The finish saw Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy use an elevated assisted cutter for the pin on Reed.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) defeated Musa & Lee Johnson

Private Party looked good in the opening and closing segments of the match. They looked super green when Quen was selling and when Kassidy was making a comeback. They probably just need a few matches to get their timing back.

Aubrey Edwards refereed in a mask.

Quen hit a slingshot senton at the outset. He hit an assisted double stomp and an assisted dropkick as well. Quen hit a knee strike and a dropkick on Johnson.

Musa pulled down the top rope which sent Quen to the floor. Johnson hit a great tope and his team went to work on Quen.

Quen blocked a sunset flip attempt and managed a tag to Kassidy. Kassidy ran wild with kicks and a cutter. Quen got a tag and hit a diving splash over the top rope to the ramp.

The finish saw Kassidy hit a flatliner. Quen tagged in and hit a shooting star press for the pin on Johnson.

10 defeated Jon Cruz

This was a squash match. 10 is very green and not ready for any kind of push.

10 hit a pump kick and a flatliner. Cruz rolled to the floor to regroup. 10 missed a charge on the floor and ran his shoulder into the ring steps.

10 made his way back inside. Cruz hit one kick before 10 cut him off.

10 used a spinebuster for the pin.

After the match, Mr. Brodie Lee made his way to the stage and applauded 10.

Rey Fenix defeated Alan Angels

This match ruled!

Fenix is absolutely spectacular. He also gave Angels a ton of offense which was extremely selfless. Fenix should be on Angels’ Christmas card list after this one.

They opened with chain wrestling. Angels grabbed two quick near falls off cradles. Fenix hit a dropkick and cut Angels off.

Fenix used a series of chops to the neck. Fenix hit a massive missile dropkick for a two count. Angels answered with three kicks and hit a modified powerbomb for a close near fall.

Fenix hit a kick to the knee of Angels as he rolled to the apron. Angels dropped Fenix on the apron with a lariat. Angels hit a diving double stomp off the top and used a moonsault for a near fall.

Fenix hit a series of crazy springboard moves before using a spinning muscle buster for the pin.

Kris Statlander defeated Dani Jordyn

Statlander obviously has all the potential in the world but we are watching her learn her craft on global TV. There are going to be growing pains and this match was an example of that. This just didn’t work.

Statlander missed a senton and Jordyn used a crucifix for a near fall. Statlander used a sunset flip for a near fall.

Statlander booped Jordyn.

Jordyn sent Statlander into the barricade. Back in the ring, Jordyn used an uppercut and a mare for a two count. Statlander answered with a back elbow in the corner.

Statlander hit a running knee which sent Jordyn outside. Statlander hit a dropkick through the ropes and Jordyn hit the barricade.

Statlander hit something resembling a Pele kick. Jordyn went for something or other but had to adjust her grip on Statlander. Statlander booped her again.

Statlander then immediately hit the Big Bang Theory for the pin.

Orange Cassidy (w/ Chuck Taylor and Trent) defeated Jason Cade

This was extremely short but they managed to work in a few trademark Cassidy spots.

Taylor and Trent unfurled Orange Cassidy beach towels during the entrance.

Cassidy teased his pockets spot but Cade blocked it. Cassidy used a wristlock with one arm and put his other hand in his pocket.

Cade ripped off Cassidy’s sunglasses. Cassidy hit a dropkick with his hands in his pockets. Trent handed Cassidy another pair of sunglasses.

Cassidy used a chinlock and gave the thumbs up. Cade turned the thumb downward and Cassidy sold like he was enraged.

Cade hit a back elbow and a jumping knee.

Cassidy trapped Cade’s arm and stacked him up for the pin.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. defeated Skyler Moore

I was not a huge fan of the Baker heel turn. I was wrong. She is a natural heel and has come into her own as a performer since turning.

They went to lock up. Moore hit Baker in the nose. Baker stepped to the ropes and complained that Moore hurt her nose and broke one of her fingernails in the same spot.

Baker went into rage mode after being irritated by the opening spot. Baker said “If you mess with my nails, I’ll break your face.”

Baker stretched Moore around a ring post. Baker used a headscissors on the mat, then used a chicken wing.

Moore went for a sunset flip but Baker blocked. Moore used an inside cradle for a near fall. Baker hit a shin strike to the face and a spinning neckbreaker.

The finish saw Baker ask the referee for a latex glove. Baker put the glove on and locked on Lockjaw. Moore tapped out.

Jimmy Havoc (w/ Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford) defeated Luther in a no DQ Match

This was just okay.

Sabian distracted Luther from the apron. Havoc attacked off the distraction. Havoc bit Luther’s hands. Luther hit a fallaway slam. Sabian passed Havoc a chair. Luther punched the chair.

Havoc teased Pillman-izing Luther’s left arm. Luther escaped and threw the chair at Havoc. Luther hit a senton off the post to the floor onto Havoc and Sabian. Luther continued to beat Havoc around ringside.

In the ring, Luther hit a pump kick. Luther used a chair. Sabian tried to pass Havoc a chair but Luther intercepted it. Luther hit a hip toss on Havoc onto a chair.

Luther hit a slam on a chair for a two count. Luther hit a snap suplex for another two count.

Luther set up two chairs. He laid Havoc across the chairs and climbed to the middle rope. Sabian cut Luther off.

Havoc tried a hurricanrana off the top onto the chairs but they over shot the chairs an Luther flew over them. Havoc used a chair and hit a double stomp.

Luther came back with a hip toss on the stage. Luther hit a springboard bulldog on a chair for a near fall.

Luther used a camel clutch while fish-hooking Havoc’s eyes. Ford threw a bottle of water on Luther to distract him. This led to the finish.

Ford took the referee. I don’t know why Ford had to take the ref in a no DQ match.

Sabian jumped on the apron and threw a chair at Luther’s head. Havoc then hit Luther with an implant DDT for the pin.

Tony Schiavone and Cody welcomed us to the show. Schiavone promised three matches this week. He did the same last week and only two matches aired. This week, he was a man of his word.

**********

10 (w/ Mr. Brodie Lee) defeated Ryan Pyles

10 has a great physique but looks silly with a slash mark tattoo on each pectoral.

Lee came to ringside with a chair and slammed the chair into the post when Pyles would hit a move.

Pyles scored two or three bits of offense during the match. He hit an open-hand chop that left a hand print on 10’s chest. Aside from that, this was a squash.

10’s offense included a European uppercut, a pump kick, and a release German.

10 hit a spinebuster for the finish.

A Double or Nothing commercial aired.

**********

Sammy Guevara defeated Shawn Dean

This was a bit more competitive than a squash match.

Chris Harrington made a cameo here as an audience member.

Sammy demanded that referee Paul Turner remove his ring jacket and hat while he vlogged. Guevara continued to record with his phone and Dean rolled him up for a quick near fall. Guevara responded with a deep squat into a fireman’s carry slam.

Guevara went for a vertical suplex. Dean reversed, hit a delayed vertical suplex, then hit a forward roll into a knee drop for a near fall.

Guevara hit a stomp and used a chinlock. He flipped over while maintaining the hold and bridged, then flipped back to a rear chinlock. Dean fired up with strikes and broke the hold.

Dean hit a clothesline. Guevara whipped Dean into the ropes. Dean floated over and hit a DDT.

Dean missed a knee strike and jammed his knee in the corner. Guevara then hit a Burning GTS for the pin.

Another Double or Nothing commercial aired.

They replayed the angle from the March 18 Dynamite where Colt Cabana pie-faced Kip Sabian.

Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford) defeated Colt Cabana

This was a solid match. They worked it like it was the first match of a longer program.

Sabian slapped Cabana. Cabana hit a shoulder tackle. They did a series of drop downs and leapfrogs. Cabana slapped Sabian across the face.

Sabian rolled outside. Cabana followed him out and tickled Ford from behind. Sabian tried a springboard kick but Cabana stepped out of the way.

Cabana used a modified bow and arrow, a side headlock and a shoulder tackle. Cabana went to the apron. Ford distracted him and Sabian hit a springboard enzuigiri. Sabian went for a kiss from Ford but Ford declined. Sabian sold like he was confused.

Sabian hit a penalty kick for a two count. Sabian choked Cabana with the middle rope. Sabian hit a springboard dropkick for a near fall. Cabana pulled Sabian into a backslide for his own near fall.

Sabian went for a springboard move but Cabana nailed him with an up-kick. Cabana made a comeback with a flip, flop, and fly and scored two quick near falls.

Cabana hit a flying apple. He went to the second rope. Ford jumped into the ring and distracted Cabana. Ford took the referee.

With the ref distracted, Sabian hit a low blow and rolled Cabana up for the pin.

Ford and Sabian made out after the match.

Cody and Schiavone previewed tomorrow’s Dynamite to end the show.

AEW Dark results: Best Friends vs. Lee Johnson & Musa

Video —

Report —

Tony Schiavone and Cody were the broadcast team. Schiavone opened the show by saying that they had three matches for us this week. In fact, there were only two matches.

Jimmy Havoc defeated Shawn Dean

This was little more than a squash, going just under four minutes. Dean is another QT Marshall student. He looked fine here.

A collar and elbow tie-up led to a stalemate. Dean offered a handshake and Havoc accepted.

Each targeted the other’s left arm. Both hit Japanese-style arm drags. Havoc dodged a charge into the corner, then suplexed Dean into the buckle.

Havoc hit a ripcord lariat and tried some small joint manipulation by going after Dean’s fingers. Dean forced a rope break.

The finish saw Havoc hit an implant DDT and pin Dean.

Havoc ended up with a bloody mouth somehow near the finish.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent) defeated Lee Johnson & Musa

This was a perfectly fine tag match.

We have seen a lot of Johnson of late. He has good upside. Musa moves well but doesn’t stand out beyond that.

Taylor and Musa began. They did a basic sequence of tackles, drop-downs, leapfrogs, and the like. Taylor hit a basement dropkick. Both tagged out.

Trent and Johnson got tags. Trent hit some forearm strikes. Johnson took a flip bump off a lariat. Trent hit a rope-assisted Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.

Musa and Taylor tagged back in. Musa hit a nice rolling dropkick. Trent came back with a plancha to Musa. Trent speared Johnson on the floor. Back inside, Taylor hit soul food on Musa. Best Friends hugged.

The finish saw Trent set up Musa for their version of Strong Zero. Taylor hit the move off the top, and Trent pinned Musa to get the win.

AEW Dark results: Cody vs. Joe Alonzo

Penelope Ford (w/ Kip Sabian) defeated Anna Jay

Cody said that Kip and Penelope got engaged in a dog park where he used to take Pharaoh.

Ford and Jay traded headlock takeovers. Ford hit a couple of shoulder tackles. Jay hit a rough hip toss and a nice arm drag.

Sabian jumped on the apron and distracted Jay. Ford hit a double back handspring elbow in the corner to get the heat on Jay.

Ford hit some forearm strikes and a vertical suplex. Ford then missed another attempt at a handspring elbow. Jay countered with an attack in the corner and a snapmare. Jay made a cover off the snapmare for a two count.

Ford used a matrix back bend to escape an attack, then used a stunner.

The finish saw Ford use a fisherman suplex for the pin.

**********

A Double or Nothing hype video aired.

Schiavone called the main event solo.

**********

Cody (w/ Brandi Rhodes) defeated Joe Alonzo

They teased locking up. Cody went for an ankle pick, then a single-leg takedown, but Alonzo blocked.

They locked up. Cody worked on the left arm. Cody hit a shoulder tackle. He offered Alonzo a handshake. Alonzo used the handshake to take Cody down, then hit a kick.

Cody answered with a powerslam and a delayed vertical suplex. Cody did a set of push-ups in the center of the ring.

Alonzo slid outside and taunted Brandi. Cody went out after him and rammed his face into the apron.

Back inside, Alonzo hit a cutter. Cody no-sold and hit a pump kick. Cody went for Cross Rhodes. Alonzo blocked and rolled Cody up for a two count.

The finish saw Cody apply a standing figure four/cloverleaf that he’s calling the Gail Lock in honor of Gail Kim. Alonzo tapped out.

**********

Cody teased whipping Alonzo with his weight belt after the match. Instead, he shook Alonzo’s hand.

**********

Final thoughts —

Ford and Jay had a solid outing, though both are still green. Jay did not look as good as she did in her AEW debut.

Cody’s use of freestyle and folkstyle wrestling in his matches recently has been interesting. No one else in North America is working the style that he is right now. This episode is worth going out of your way to see if you’re into that.

AEW Dark results: Billy Gunn vs. Shawn Spears

Video —

Report —

AEW Dark was a one-match show this week.  The bout saw Shawn Spears take on Billy Gunn, a main event anywhere in the world.

AEW Dark results: Kip Sabian, Wardlow, QT Marshall in action

Video —

Report —

Tony Schiavone and Cody were the announce team for the opener.

Up first was QT Marshall against one of his students at the Nightmare Factory training school.

QT Marshall defeated Lee Johnson

Johnson has a nice dropkick but didn’t show much else. Marshall is technically very good but has been dealt a bad hand in the look and charisma departments.

They locked up and traded holds. Marshall took over after catching Johnson on a crossbody attempt. Marshall hit a leg drop and worked an abdominal stretch.

Johnson made a brief comeback with a dropkick and one-legged dropkick. Marshall caught Johnson off the top again and hit a uranage/flatliner combination. Marshall ended up with a cut under his right eye.

Marshall then hit a swanton bomb for the pin.

**********

Taz and Excalibur did the announcing for this contest.

Wardlow (w/ MJF) defeated Ryan Pyles

Wardlow took forever to take his clothes off before the match.

The match itself went seconds. Wardlow hit his F-10 finisher and pinned Pyles with a boot on the chest.

**********

Schiavone and Jimmy Havoc did the announcing for the main event. Havoc was especially entertaining and I would like to hear more of these two together.

Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford) defeated Tony Donati

Congratulations to Kip and Penelope on their engagement.

This was the best match on this show.

They began with some fundamentals, trading side headlocks and shoulder tackles. Ford tripped Donati while Sabian took the referee. Sabian then hit a pump kick and went to work.

Sabian again took the referee while Ford choked Donati in the corner. Sabian hit a kick and a back elbow for a near fall. Sabian hit a penalty kick for another two count.

Sabian went for a Michinoku driver, but Donati blocked and hit a hammerlock brainbuster for a two count. Sabian cut Donati off as he attempted a springboard attack.

Sabian hit his draping top rope suplex, a modified GTS, then used the Cruciatus Clutch and Donati tapped out.

AEW Dark results: Jon Moxley vs. Faboo Andre

Report —

Tony Schiavone and Cody welcomed us to the show and revealed half of the TNT Championship tournament bracket. The left side of the bracket has Cody vs. Shawn Spears and Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara.

**********

Sammy Guevara defeated Matt Sells

This was a bit more competitive than a standard squash.

Cody asked if Sells could be related to famous jobbers the Mulkeys as Guevara paintbrushed Sells.

Guevara teased a top rope move but jumped down and slapped Sells instead. Sells made a brief comeback, hitting a shining wizard.

Guevara cut Sells off with a rolling cutter. Guevara had Sells pinned but pulled him up at the count of two to deliver more punishment. Sells managed a neckbreaker and scored a two count, then began humping the mat. Guevara cut him off with a high knee.

Guevara then immediately hit his Burning GTS for the pin.

**********

Guevara cut a promo after the match and declared himself the ruler of all wrestlers.

**********

Shawn Spears defeated Shawn Dean

Squash city for Dean.

Spears broke cleanly on the initial lock up. Spears repeatedly got the better of technical wrestling exchanges. Spears hit a lariat.

The finish saw Spears hit a running death valley driver for the pin.

**********

Darby Allin defeated Preston Vance

Vance doesn’t have much of a look, but he’s fundamentally sound. Allin sold most of the way here.

Vance attacked Allin as Allin posed on the turnbuckle before the match. Vance sent Allin outside and beat him around ringside. Allin got whipped into the ring frame and the barricade.

Back inside, Allin tried a springboard attack but Vance caught him and continued to work him over. Allin came back with a tope suicida and a code red.

Vance hit a pair of cutters to regain the advantage. Vance tried a deadlift vertical suplex but Allin rolled through and hit a backpack stunner.

Allin climbed up top and hit the Coffin Drop for the pin on Vance.

**********

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defeated Faboo Andre in a non-title match

Andre is known as the “Monarch of Manliness” and was announced as hailing from “The Butterfly Garden.” Great gear, great gimmick, great entrance music. Unfortunately, that is where the greatness ends for Faboo.

Moxley came out firing forearms from the opening bell. Andre escaped a vertical suplex and hit a hip toss.

Moxley blocked a strike, hit a lariat and a Gotch-style piledriver, then used an STF for the submission victory.

**********

Jake Hager ran in after the match and hit Moxley from behind. Hager then used his head-and-arm choke to put Moxley to sleep.

**********

Schiavone and Cody closed the show teasing a Moxley promo and the reveal of the second half of the TNT title bracket for this week’s Dynamite.

This was a complete squash. Hager hit a wheelbarrow German, a uranage, then used a head-and-arm triangle for the submission win.

**********

The Natural Nightmares (Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall w/ Brandi Rhodes) defeated Matt Sells & Jon Cruz (w/ Skyler Moore)

Sells and Cruz are an awesome jobber team. Sells looks like a cross between DDP and Shane Douglas.

Rhodes controlled the early part of the match with basic arm drag/shoulder tackle offense.

Marshall tagged in and got cut off after an illegal knee from the apron by Cruz and a forearm by Sells. Sells hit a neckbreaker for a two count. Marshall made a tag to Rhodes, who hit some signature offense.

The finish saw Marshall and Rhodes hit their unnamed tandem finisher, allowing Marshall to pin Cruz.

**********

SCU (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) defeated Robert “Ego” Anthony & Shawn Spears (w/ Tully Blanchard)

This was the best and most competitive match on the show. The story of the match was that Anthony was actually pretty good and Spears was to blame for the loss.

Excalibur put over Anthony’s 20 years of experience.

Anthony and Kazarian began. Kazarian used a hip toss and an armbar to control Anthony. The gave Anthony some credibility as he nearly countered out of each of Kazarian’s holds.

Daniels and Spears tagged in and things went south for the Spears and Anthony duo. Daniels hit an interfering Anthony with an STO. Kazarian hit a double stomp to Spears.

Anthony interfered from the floor and pulled Kazarian outside. Spears hit a spinebuster on Daniels and took control of the bout.

Spears did a comedy spot where he jumped the railing and chanted for himself. Anthony and Spears worked over Daniels.

Daniels ducked a clothesline and made a hot tag to Kazarian, who used a lariat on Anthony for a near fall. Kazarian hit a springboard leg drop on Anthony for a two count.

Spears tried to interfere but twice accidentally hit Anthony. Anthony hit a rolling DVD on Kazarian for a two count.

The finish saw Anthony accidentally hit Spears with a clothesline. Spears then rolled out of the ring and left Anthony on his own. Daniels and Kazarian hit the Best Meltzer Ever for the pin.

**********

Blanchard gave a thumbs down after the match and Spears hit a C4 on Anthony.

**********

Kip Sabian (w/Penelope Ford) defeated Suge D

Suge D is better known as Sugar Dunkerton.

Sabian was canoodling in the corner with Ford after the opening bell rang, allowing Suge to use a quick roll-up for a two count. Sabian took the ref and Ford hit a drive-by dropkick on the apron.

Sabian hit a hangman neckbreaker for a two count. Suge used an intricate series of counters and reversals and hit a rolling elbow for a two count.

Sabian hit a half-and-half suplex, then used a Russian leg sweep to set up the Cruciatus Clutch. Suge tapped out.

**********

Colt Cabana defeated Brandon Cutler

These two had a solid babyface match with a simple story and a splash of comedy.

Cabana outwrestled Cutler in the opening minutes of the match. Cabana got cocky, then Cutler began to answer Cabana hold for hold.

Cutler hit a suicide dive. Cabana climbed back inside and Cutler tried a springboard attack. Cabana sidestepped and Cutler crashed to the mat.

Cabana then used a bionic elbow and a Superman Pin to put away Cutler.

**********

Sonny Kiss & Joey Janela defeated Corey Hollis & Mike Reed

Hollis caught a kick from Kiss, then Reed hit Kiss with a knee strike to the face and took control of the match.

This was a fun comedy opener.

This was all Cabana at the outset. Cabana hit a series of his trademark spots. Avalon used a shoulder tackle in the ropes to turn the tide. Avalon hit a dropkick, then a top rope high cross for a two count.

Cabana made a comeback. He hit flip, flop, and fly, then teased a top rope move to the apron. Leva Bates jumped on the apron to interfere. Cabana and Avalon played tug of war with Bates. Bates and Avalon teased making out. Cabana then kissed Avalon on the cheek and tossed him inside.

Cabana immediately hit the Superman pin to end the match.

**********

Angelico & Jack Evans defeated Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa

Angelico and Evans attacked before the opening bell. They isolated Nakazawa in the ring and worked him over for several minutes. Evans used a double stomp for a near fall. Angelico used a variety of Navarro-style holds on Nakazawa.

Nakazawa reached into his trunks for a bottle of Turkish oil, which he liberally applied. Evans and Angelico couldn’t maintain a grip, allowing Nakazawa to tag Cutler.

Cutler hit a springboard forearm and a black hole slam on Evans for a near fall, then hit a leg slice to the apron on Angelico.

Cutler hit a tope suicida to Angelico, then used a springboard elbow on Evans for a two count. Nakazawa and Cutler hit some tandem offense.

The finish saw Nakazawa accidentally spit oil in Cutler’s face. Evans then hit a crucifix buckle bomb on Nakazawa and followed with a 630 for the pin.

**********

Penelope Ford defeated Riho

This was the best match on the show.

They opened with an exchange of strikes. Riho bridged out of a lateral press after a one count. Kip Sabian tripped Riho from the floor. Ford then used a matrix back bend and hit a stunner for a two count.

Ford hit a handspring back elbow in the corner, then used a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Riho came back with a 619 and a crucifix bomb for her own near fall.

Riho went up top. Sabian distracted her from the floor. Ford and Riho fought on the top rope. Riho kicked Ford off, then hit a double stomp for a two count. Ford hit a double knee gutbuster for a two count.

Ford mocked Riho by using a Kenny Omega taunt.  Ford missed a V-Trigger, allowing Riho to hit a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.

Riho went for a snap dragon suplex. Ford took the referee as Sabian jumped in. Riho hit Sabian with the snap dragon. Ford then hit a back handspring into a stunner, followed by a fisherman’s suplex for the pin.

**********

Referee Mike Posey ejected all the seconds before the match began.

Christopher Daniels defeated Stu Grayson

After a brief striking battle, they did an extended series of leapfrogs and drop-downs. Grayson continually evaded Daniels and rolled to the floor. Daniels hit a baseball slide and took control.

After a sequence of offense from Daniels, Grayson escaped a suplex attempt. He then hit a uranage to turn the tide in his favor. Grayson hit a shining wizard for a two count.

Daniels blocked an Irish whip and used a backslide for a two count. Grayson used a small package for a two count. Grayson hit a forearm strike for a near fall, then played to the crowd.

Grayson hit a slingshot senton to the apron. He missed a double stomp off the top, allowing Daniels to hit an exploder suplex into the buckle.

Daniels made his comeback with elbow strikes and an STO. He followed with a blue thunder bomb for a near fall. Grayson came back with a swinging DDT and a jumping knee strike for a near fall.

Grayson hit a Pele kick. Daniels answered with an enzuigiri. Grayson slid out of an Angel’s Wings and hit an F-5 for a two count. Grayson missed a BME, which allowed Daniels to hit Angel’s Wings. Grayson got a foot on the bottom rope to force a break on the pinfall attempt.

Daniels hit a flatliner, then used a clutch hold. A Creeper jumped on the apron which provided a distraction for Grayson. Daniels used a schoolboy for a two count. Daniels knocked the Creeper from the apron.

The finish saw Grayson try for Nightfall. Daniels rolled through into a crucifix hold and pinned Grayson.

**********

The Dark Order ran in after the match and went after Daniels. SCU and Colt Cabana ran in for the save.

Daniels cut a promo. He told Evil Uno that he was coming for him next, there is no Exalted One and when he beats Uno, the Dark Order will be done.

AEW Dark results: Riho & Sakazaki vs. Baker & Ford

Video —

Report —

The Big News: Britt Baker finally defeated Riho, but it was in tag team action with loads of interference by Kip Sabian.

**********

This was a special pre-AEW Revolution episode of Dark. If you recall there was one unseen dark match on the night of the pay-per-view. Tonight we will get that and a whole bunch of exclusive interviews in a special condensed 20-minute episode.

**********

We started the show with a recap of Colt Cabana debuting during The Buy In and helping SCU run off The Dark Order.

We then went backstage with an interview with Cabana. He said he always brings his gear and was lucky to do it on Saturday. He mentioned wrestling with Matt & Nick Jackson, Cody, and Kenny Omega for decades and was happy to jump in.

Cabana said he’s at his peak and is wrestling in Japan, Australia, and now on TNT. He said the revolution has begun and challenged the Dark Order, saying he has SCU’s back.

**********

Christopher Daniels was talking to Lexi Nair elsewhere. He realized all the lies and half truths the Dark Order has been offering and the biggest lie is The Exalted One. The Exalted One is a lie and there is no one behind Evil Uno and Stu Grayson. SCU and Cabana will do everything they can to cut the cancer of The Dark Order out of AEW.

**********

Up next we checked in with Kris Statlander, who was disappointed about losing to Nyla Rose. Maybe today wasn’t the day the Galaxy’s Greatest took the belt, but maybe next time she’d be more down to earth.

**********

PAC was up next and told Lexi it was none of her business why The Lucha Brothers were out there. PAC said AEW matchmakers should be ashamed because the condition that Orange Cassidy is in is on their hands.

Jon Moxley vs. PAC next, amIrite?

**********

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD & Penelope Ford (w/ Kip Sabian) defeated Riho & Yuka Sakazaki

Sabian made Justin Roberts hold the ring ropes open for him and then just leaped over the top anyway.

Sakazaki attacked Baker at the bell, still angry about Baker forcibly removing one of her teeth last month. Sabian tried to get involved on the other side of the ring, but Riho took care of him. Riho and Sakazaki worked pretty well together and I’d love to see them wrestle as a team on Dynamite sometime.

Sakazaki was steamrolling Ford when Sabian tripped her from outside the ring. While the referee told him off, Baker ran in and did a curb stomp to Sakazaki before legally tagging in.

Baker and Ford worked over the jaw of Sakazaki, showing great psychology and playing off the prior match. Sabian distracted the referee again, allowing the heels to double team. The fans were not pleased and told Sabian that he sucked.

Riho finally made the hot tag and used one of the fastest crucifixes you’ll ever see. Sabian prevented Riho from diving, so Sakazaki dove over the top rope onto both Baker and Ford. Riho then dove onto Sabian on the outside. Inside the ring, Riho almost got the pin over The Doctor with a double foot stomp.

Eventually, however, Baker slapped on the Lockjaw on Riho for the submission. Riho was fighting it off, but Sabian ran in one last time and stopped Riho’s momentum, which allowed Baker to sink her move in deeper.

The show ended with the triumphant heel triumvirate standing tall.

Final Thoughts: This very much had the feeling of the old post-TakeOver episodes of NXT. If you saw it, it was nothing special. If you missed it, you literally missed nothing.

AEW Dark results: Private Party vs. Shawn Spears & Brandon Cutler

Video —

Report —

The Big News: Shawn Spears and Peter Avalon both walked out on their partners this week, leading to their teams losing.

**********

This past Tuesday, during my critically-acclaimed AEW Dark report, as Joey Janela hit Kip Sabian in the head with a prosthetic leg, I quipped “Do I really have nothing better to do on Tuesday nights?” Apparently AEW listened and here we are, for one week only, on Friday.

**********

Excalibur and Taz started the show by introducing all the matches.

**********

Luther defeated Sonny Kiss

51-year old Luther was making his AEW in-ring debut here. It still makes him younger than WWE Universal Champion Goldberg and ROH World Champion PCO. Not sure whatever happened to Mel and I wonder how she now feels about shaving her head for that Nightmare Collective angle.

Luther charged at the bell with a series of chops. Kiss tried to combat them with his speed, but Luther took his head off with a big boot. This was not the most exciting match in the world, but the fans were into it.

Kiss made his comeback with a series of boots and kicks and hit the Axes and O’s for a two count. Luther rolled out of the way of a moonsault, caught Kiss on a hurricanrana attempt, and laid him out with a powerbomb. Luther slapped on a Camel Clutch and began clawing at Kiss’ face before the submission.

Luther appeared to not want to break the hold, so Jimmy Havoc hit the ring, which caused Luther to run off.

**********

Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez were high above the arena to talk about Revolution tomorrow night. Gonzalez wants title changes, especially the World title.

They also talked about how great it is to work with Excalibur and Taz.

**********

The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson w/ Alex Reynolds and John Silver) defeated Michael Nakazawa & Peter Avalon (w/ Leva Bates)

This might be the weirdest team in wrestling history.

Dark Order will take on Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian of SoCal Uncensored tomorrow night at Revolution. Bates took the mic and chastised Avalon for insulting every city they go to. Bates said she brought the perfect book for him: Don’t Be A Dick.

Avalon took the mic, again, when Nakazawa tried to pour oil all over himself. Avalon said he didn’t want any of that comedy crap. He ordered Nakazawa out of the ring, but Avalon then slipped on the oil Nakazawa already spilled on the mat and Nakazawa started anyway. The Dark Order immediately cut off Nakazawa and laid in a beating.

Nakazawa slipped out of a suplex and tried to make a tag. However, ladies and gentlemen, right here on AEW Dark, we saw the biggest betrayal since Benedict Arnold sold the plans to West Point to the British. Nakazawa reached for the tag, but Avalon jumped off the apron and walked away! Nakazawa was quickly pinned with Fatality.

**********

They replayed the great Cody-MJF video package that aired on Dynamite.

**********

Dr. Britt Baker defeated Miranda Alize

Alize, in her second AEW match, was here to get her first win, but the booking god’s were not kind to her and she went one-on-one with The Doctor.

Alize held her own briefly, but Baker quickly took over. Baker actually used an old William Regal trick where she got Alize down in the corner and back kicked her while the referee gave her a warning.

Baker hit a corkscrew fisherman neckbreaker for a near fall that she disagreed about. That gave Miranda a few seconds to make her comeback, but it wasn’t enough. Baker took her down with a slingblade and locked on the Lockjaw for the submission.

**********

Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) defeated Shawn Spears & Brandon Cutler (w/ Tully Blanchard)

Spears is really scraping the bottom of the barrel the last few weeks when it comes to getting tag team partners. From the winless Peter Avalon to the winless Brandon Cutler. What Cutler lacks in wins, he makes up for in having more polyhedral dice than anyone else in the locker room. Private Party spent three minutes throwing their beads to the crowd.

Cutler, Quen, and Kassidy had a great sequence where they went for moves on each other, but they kept being avoided or reversed. No one hit anything and it ended in a triple dropkick.

Spears did not like these shenanigans and demanded to be tagged in, which he did and took over when he got in. Cutler got back in and hit a nice series of moves on Private Party, before Spears tagged himself back in. The fans chanted “10,” and Spears shook his finger at the crowd and told them “no.”

Spears got the heat on Kassidy. While he distracted the referee, Tully tried to encourage Cutler to put the boots to Kassidy, which he refused to do. Kassidy eventually made the hot tag to Quen, who ran wild on both Spears and Cutler.

Quen did a dive over the top rope and Spears pulled Cutler in the way to take the blow. Spears yelled at Cutler and called him stupid. Then, ladies and gentlemen, right here on AEW Dark, in the biggest betrayal since Benedict Arnold sold the plans to West Point to the British, Spears threw his partner in the ring and walked out on him.

Cutler then hit the TPK on Quen and almost got the pin. Cutler begged Spears to come back. The fans chanted for Cutler as Spears walked off. Cutler then got finished off with Gin & Juice.

Just forget the same exact thing happened in the second match of the show.

**********

That does it for Dark. Thank you for reading. Stay tuned for AEW Revolution tomorrow night and Dynamite next Wednesday!

AEW Dark results: Joey Janela vs. Kip Sabian falls count anywhere

Video —

Report —

The Big News: QT Marshall is no longer winless after teaming with Dustin Rhodes against Shawn Spears & Peter Avalon in this week’s main event. Joey Janela also defeated Kip Sabian in their falls count anywhere match.

**********

There was a cold open this week as Excalibur and Taz started the show and ran down the matches before we got going.

**********

Jimmy Havoc defeated Marko Stunt (w/ Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy)

The fans popped for Stunt. Taz said he’ll never make fun of anyone for being small. Stunt hit two suicide dives at the start. Instead of doing a third, he hit a tornado DDT onto the pretty black mats. Havoc caught Stunt on a hurricanrana attempt and hit a buckle bomb to take over. Dr. Luther and Mel came out to the ramp to stare down Havoc.

Havoc slapped on a crossface, but Stunt was able to get a foot on the ropes. Onto the apron, Havoc yanked Stunt by the hair, causing Stunt to smack the back of his head on the ring post.

Stunt fought out of a Rude Awakening and began making a brief comeback. He also ducked an Acid Rainmaker. Stunt hit an enzuigiri and a running knee strike, so Havoc rolled to the outside. Stunt went for a suicide dive, but Havoc stepped out of the way. Back in the ring, Havoc hit an Acid Rainmaker for the win.

**********

We were magically whisked away to Tony Schiavone and the returning Dasha Gonzalez high above the arena to introduce the rest of the show.

**********

The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson w/ John Silver and Alex Reynolds) defeated Strong Hearts (CIMA & T-Hawk)

Strong Hearts took part in the tag team battle royal on Dynamite last week and also did battle with The Dark Order on AEW Dark. Not sure how the winless Silver & Reynolds were in a top contender’s match while Evil Uno & Grayson weren’t, but that’s for The Exalted One to figure out.

I’ve complained about this before, but The Dark Order is supposed to be this super serious group and at times they will just randomly do Three Stooges comedy. Evil Uno ordered CIMA to put the brakes on while coming off the ropes, so CIMA chopped him. He went for a chop seconds later, but Uno got an eye poke. All that was missing was for this to be in black and white.

T-Hawk chased Uno around the ring and Grayson cut him off with a uranage. The heat on T-Hawk lasted just long enough for it to mean something when he made the hot tag to CIMA.

CIMA sent his foes packing and he and T-Hawk did stereo suicide dives onto all four Dark Order members. The Dark Order hit a pair of unique moves, including Grayson doing a springboard over the top rope giving CIMA a DDT on the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring. Finally, Uno pinned T-Hawk with Fatality.

**********

Falls count anywhere match: Joey Janela defeated Kip Sabian (w/ Penelope Ford)

Janela ran out and low blowed Sabian on the ramp and probably would have won with the ensuing roll-up, but Ford broke it up. Speaking of Ford, Sabian gave Janela an airplane spin and Janela’s legs hit Ford in the head. Sabian and Janela fought down the ramp and onto the floor in front of the stage, so Ford recovered and gave her ex a crossbody.

The match slowed down as they wrestled into the ringside area. Sabian crawled down the front row, for some reason, and as soon as he crossed the barricade Janela gave him a running strike and put him back into the audience.

Sabian finally stopped Janela by swinging a chair like a baseball bat at him. The advantage didn’t last long and Janela used a fan’s prosthetic leg to kick Sabian in the head. Do I really have nothing better to do on Tuesday nights?

Sabian used a half-and-half suplex on the ring apron and then hit a twisting neckbreaker/suplex off the apron and through a table. Sabian and Ford set up two tables side by side. Janela started making a comeback, so Ford gave him a diving hurricanrana. She went for a flying crossbody, but Janela caught her, threw her into Sabian, and they fell backwards. Sabian somehow bounced off the tables and they had a nasty bump to the floor.

Janela finally pinned Sabian with a kendo stick to the side of the face.

**********

Backstage, Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall were interviewed about their main event match against Shawn Spears & Peter Avalon. Dustin promised to have a secret weapon.

**********

Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall (w/ Brandi Rhodes) defeated Shawn Spears & Peter Avalon (w/ Tully Blanchard and Leva Bates)

Literally last week I wrote “Speaking of tag teams, where is Shawn Spears? Has he stopped looking for a partner?” Spears was back this week and maybe he’s found his second half with The Librarian? Brandi Rhodes, of all people, was in the babyface’s corner. Tully Blanchard made a motion to attack Dustin before the bell, but got caught and backed away.

Marshall and Avalon teamed last week and were not terribly successful in any way, so I am sure Marshall felt good when he hit Avalon with an uppercut. Spears did the cartwheel he used to do in WWE and was so tempted to do the 10 hand sign, but had to fight the desire to do it. A few fans started chanting 10, but most didn’t care

They did care when Dustin used the 10 punches of doom. Bates eventually grabbed Marshall’s boot to get his attention, which allowed Avalon to get the advantage.

Spears took a water break just so he could spit it in Marshall’s face. That ended up being a bad idea as Marshall hit an enzuigiri and made the hot tag. A four-way broke out and Spears backdropped Marshall over the top rope, but Dustin gave him a Code Red for a near fall.

Spears hit Dustin with a book and hit a very nice frog splash for a super near fall. Avalon blind tagged himself in, which pissed off Spears. Spears punched Avalon and then walked out. Someone give him a heads up that Brandi speared Bates and Dustin pinned Avalon with a double-team maneuver. It was a combo Dominator/Diamond Cutter.

The streak is over! QT Marshall picked up his first win in AEW!

**********

That does it for tonight. You might recall that before Full Gear they aired Dark on the Friday before the PPV. So I’ll either be back Friday or next week. Either way, have a great week!

The Big News: The Young Bucks continued the respective losing streaks of Peter Avalon & QT Marshall in the main event.

Tony Schiavone introduced this week’s episode of AEW Dark from a quiet spot backstage.

Kris Statlander defeated Diamante

Now that the Nightmare Collective is no more, Statlander has lost her angle, but she was back here to do battle with former LAX member Diamante. Statlander booped referee Rick Knox, which is when she touches their nose. She spent a minute teasing doing it to Diamante before being smacked away.

Statlander took her down, stuck Diamante’s finger in her mouth, and then gave her a wet willie. Please no one show this to Jim Cornette.

We broke down into a serious wrestling match as Statlander used a gorilla press to drop Diamante on the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring. Statlander used a nice German suplex and picked up the win with the Big Bang Theory.

**********

Best Friends (w/ Orange Cassidy) defeated The Hybrid 2

Earlier today on the AEW media call, Cody called Jack Evans one of the most underrated wrestlers in AEW. Evans showed off his athleticism early and bragged to the crowd about it, which got him booed. Trent used a nice Northern Lights suplex when Evans tried diving over the top rope into the ring.

Angelico and Chuck Taylor tagged in. Taylor got the best of it, so Angelico went outside and punched Orange Cassidy, a man wearing glasses, right in the face! Best Friends ran out for the save, but Evans dove off the top rope and then stomped on Cassidy for good measure. The fans chanted Jesus, since the guy dressed like Jesus was in the crowd.

Trent used a tornado DDT to get away from his foe and make the hot tag to Taylor. Taylor ran wild on both members of TH2, including giving Evans a pop-up powerbomb on Angelico and hitting a spinning Liger Bomb on Evans.

A crazy four-way broke out, with both members of both teams running wild. Evans went up top and suddenly Cassidy rose from the ashes and violently began striking Evans in the legs. I do not know how Evans maintained his balance while getting struck like that. Anyhoo, TH2 ended up crotching themselves on the ropes and Best Friends finished them off with a Strong Zero.

**********

Big Swole defeated Christi Jaynes

Jaynes is from Brazil, trained in Mexico, and was making her AEW debut here. We started with a collar-and-elbow tie-up, which was such an even matchup that they went around the ring with neither wrestler gaining the advantage and it ended in a stalemate.

Swole was dominating after that, but Jaynes stepped aside on a charge and used a step-up enzuigiri where she ran up the ropes ala Fenix. Swole battled back and hit a pretty nice cutter that she hit as she stepped through the ropes. She then picked up the win with a ripcord elbow called Dirty Dancing.

**********

The Young Bucks defeated QT Marshall & Peter Avalon (w/ Leva Bates)

Wasn’t I just talking last week about how we hadn’t see either Librarian in a while? Marshall and Avalon have a combined record of 0-12, so maybe what they lack as individuals they can make up with being a tag team. Speaking of tag teams, where is Shawn Spears? Has he stopped looking for a partner?

The Young Bucks were hoping to pull out the hammer and nails and begin to build momentum leading into tomorrow night’s gigantic tag team battle royal. Trust me, that’s not the corniest joke I have.

Marshall and Nick Jackson exchanged counters, with both men flipping and rolling through moves. Avalon took the mic and began booing both, including his partner, for not doing actual wrestling.

Matt Jackson and Avalon tagged in and Avalon got taken down with a drop toe hold. Matt took the mic and asked if the crowd wanted to see a double hip toss. They did it and then led the crowd in a chant of “That was awesome.”

Marshall did agree to tag in despite everything that had happened, but Avalon came in for a sneak attack on Matt and then tagged himself back in. Matt was draped across the middle rope and while Avalon distracted the referee, Leva Bates jumped up and tried to show Matt the book she was reading. He pushed it away, which offended Bates, who hit Matt in the knee with it.

Matt hit eight straight Northern Lights suplexes on Avalon, with the last one including Marshall, who tried to break it up. Nick got the hot tag and used the Sharpshooter at one point. Since the referee wouldn’t just ring the damn bell, Bates pushed the bottom rope closer to Avalon to break it up.

Avalon got a handful of tights for a near fall and then went for Bates’ book, but Marshall broke it up and threw the book away. Avalon punched Marshall, got superkicked and hit with a Meltzer Driver, and the Bucks picked up the win.

AEW Women’s Champion Riho defeated Shoko Nakajima in a non-title match

Nakajima has had one match for AEW, back at Fight for the Fallen, where she pinned Riho in a tag team match. Riho has only lost two matches so far and both were tag team bouts. For the first time in a singles match, Riho had the height advantage. And that’s not because Riho is terribly tall, Nakajima is approximately 4’10.

We had a suicide dive from Nakajima early, but she managed to hook her toe on the middle rope. Thankfully Riho was standing close enough, so there was no danger and Nakajima didn’t land on her head. Nakajima later ducked out of a Tiger Feint Kick and went for one of her own. Riho went to the bottom rope to avoid it, so Nakajima gave her the kick on the bottom rope.

We got the “Boo/Yay” spot with forearms, where the crowd chanted for Riho, even though Nakajima isn’t a heel.

Nakajima kicked out of a diving foot stomp, then a series of roll-ups got each wrestler two counts. Riho moved out of the way of a senton and pinned Nakajima with double knee strikes to the face.

**********

Jimmy Havoc defeated Sonny Kiss

Havoc hasn’t been on AEW all year so far and it’s been a while since he’s been around. The last time we saw him he was paying his fines for using his staple gun. I have to admit, this is one match I didn’t imagine AEW ever booking.

The two sportsmen exchanged holds and attempted to find out who the better grappler was. Then, ladies and gentlemen, right here on AEW Dark, we saw the biggest betrayal since Benedict Arnold sold the plans to West Point to the British. They shook hands and then Havoc punched Kiss right in the face!

After a corner dropkick, we ended up outside the ring and Kiss crashed into the barricade. Kiss got a tiny comeback and went for a chop, but Havoc moved and Kiss smacked the post. Havoc worked over the shoulder while they were outside the ring for a full two minutes and referee Aubrey Edwards made it to a four count.

Back in the ring, Havoc gave Kiss both a hip toss and a suplex into the corner.

Kiss kicked out of a rolling Death Valley Driver and then fought out of a Fujiwara armbar. He ducked the Acid Rainmaker and made a comeback. We got a one-armed belly-to-belly suplex and a cartwheel axe kick for a near fall. Kiss went for the splitting leg drop, but Havoc got his knees up and locked on a cross armbreaker for the submission win.

Dr. Luther took over the video screen at this point, calling himself the dealer. He said he loves baseball and barbed wire and then told Havoc to be ready because it will soon be time to play ball.

**********

Hikaru Shida defeated Cassandra Golden

Golden was playing the heel during her entrance. She has several inches on Shida and on multiple occasions grabbed Shida’s hair to maintain the advantage, so Shida returned the favor.

Though she looked green at times, Golden was composed and some of her moves looked good. She hit a Vader Bomb for a two count, which nearly made her cry when Shida kicked out.

Shida rolled out of a full nelson and hit a brutal corner knee strike. She used a judo throw and a missile dropkick for another near fall, but Golden came back and dropped the big leg. Finally, Shida hit a pair of running knees for the pin.

**********

The Dark Order (Stu Grayson & Evil Uno) defeated Jurassic Express (Marko Stunt & Jungle Boy)

The Dark Order had all their minions at ringside, while Luchasaurus did not come out with the Jurassic Express. Still no hints on who The Exhausted One…I mean The Exalted One is.

Evil Uno ran over Jungle Boy to get the heat. Jungle Boy tried to lift Uno up, but Uno raked his nails on his back. Grayson rolled him to the apron and hit a slingshot senton while Jungle Boy was on the ring apron, which is the hardest part of the ring.

Stunt got the hot tag and immediately got booted right in the face. However, the power of momentum compelled him, so he briefly ran wild before immediately tagging out to the man who was beaten on for five minutes.

Jungle Boy hit a suicide dive on Alex Reynolds and John Silver, then gave Uno a Samoan drop for a two count.

Jurassic Express got Grayson on the middle rope, so Stunt did a dive off Jungle Boy’s back, which he turned into a senton. Uno broke up the ensuing cover by giving a body slam to Stunt on top of Jungle Boy. Jungle Boy got sent to the outside and Dark Order took back over on Stunt and pinned him after hitting Fatality.

The minions jumped in the ring after the match and put the boots to Stunt. Luchasaurus decided now was the best time to come out. He took out all four of the nameless minions and then took out both Reynolds and Silver. Uno and Grayson eventually attacked Luchasaurus from behind and stomped the dinosaur into the ground.

Out ran SCU, which sent the Dark Order scattering. Christopher Daniels demanded they come in and fight, but again, they won’t do anything when it comes to attacking Daniels.

So, that does it for this week. See ya tomorrow night for Dynamite!
