First three matches announced for AEW Collision

The lineup for this Saturday’s live AEW Collision from Arlington, Texas, is slowly taking shape.

Announced during Wednesday’s Dynamite, TNT Champion Mark Briscoe will defend against Hechicero. Briscoe appeared Wednesday via video and mentioned he’s been wanting to get back into action and is continuing his targeting of the Don Callis Family.

It will be Briscoe’s first title defense since mid-December and just his second overall since defeating Kyle Fletcher for the gold at November’s Full Gear. Hechicero is still looking for his first AEW title of any kind.

Another Don Callis Family member — El Clon — will compete for the second straight week as he faces former ROH TV Champion Komander. Komander came to the aid of Angelico last week in Clon’s AEW in-ring debut, setting up this clash of luchadors.

Ahead of their match against the Triangle of Madness as part of next Wednesday’s Maximum Carnage edition of Dynamite, AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander and AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions the Babes of Wrath will be in action.

In a three-way trios match, The Undisputed Kingdom’s Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong will take on Shane Taylor & The Infantry and Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker. Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Big Bill added to AEW Collision

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Big Bill has been added to this Saturday’s Homecoming edition of AEW Collision from Jacksonville, Florida.

The match was made during a backstage segment with Chris Jericho, Bryan Keith and Bill where Jericho essentially blamed their loss in a 12-man tag team match last Saturday on Bill due to not fully taking Hobbs out in a pre-match attack. After Jericho asked him what he’s going to do about it. Bill then challenged Hobbs to a match.

It will be Hobbs’ first singles bout since failing to defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World title on last Wednesday’s Dynamite. Bill will be looking to snap a two-match losing streak in hopes of picking up his first win since this past April.

Here is the current card for AEW Collision Homecoming:

  • Mariah May & Toni Storm meet face-to-face
  • Big Bill vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong)
  • Buddy Matthews & Brody King vs. The Gates of Agony

Shelton Benjamin vs. Komander part of AEW Collision lineup

A matchup that didn’t seem possible a few months ago will become a reality as Shelton Benjamin will face Komander as part of this Saturday’s AEW Collision.

The Hurt Syndicate member is coming off a defeat to Swerve Strickland several weeks ago which snapped a two-match winning streak that kicked off his AEW career.

Komander will take on Rocky Romero on tonight’s edition of Rampage in hopes of ending a two-match AEW losing streak. In Ring of Honor, he’s won two straight.

Powerhouse Hobbs will be in singles action for the first time since his return earlier this month from a serious knee injury. Hobbs has aligned with Will Ospreay and Mark Davis against the Don Callis Family, but will take on Bear Bronson Saturday.

The broadcast will also feature a Full Gear preview video using Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain” which is expected to close the show.

This week’s action was taped in Albany, New York, Thursday.

Here’s the full rundown:

  • AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May defends against Anna Jay in a no DQ match
  • Full Gear four-way Tag Team title match qualifier: The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) vs. LFI (Rush & The Beast Mortos)
