IShowSpeed reacts to WrestleMania 42 match announcement

IShowSpeed spoke about his upcoming match at WWE WrestleMania 42 on his YouTube channel.

On April 18, during night one of WrestleMania 42, the popular YouTube star is set to team with Logan Paul and Austin Theory against LA Knight and The Usos.

Speaking to his viewers, IShowSpeed described being added to the WrestleMania lineup as “one of them crazy moments.”

“I’m going to be wrestling at WrestleMania, chat, clap it up,” he said.

“I would’ve never thought that I was going to be wrestling at WrestleMania like this.

“I’ve been a fan of WWE since I was (a kid). I think that was the first sport that I actually got introduced to, bro, was WWE, and I’m not even trolling. Like, I think WWE was the first thing that I got into. Since I was four. So this is crazy. It’s really crazy. We used to wrestle all the time, bro.”

Me personally, this is like one of them crazy moments.”

The six-man tag team match for WrestleMania 42 was set up on WWE Raw this week. It was announced shortly after Austin Theory defeated LA Knight in the opening bout of the show. During the match, Logan Paul pushed IShowSpeed into Knight, creating a distraction that eventually led to Theory scoring the win with a roll-up.

Following the match, Knight cut a promo calling for a six-man tag at WrestleMania. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce then came out and made the match official.

DJ Valentino Khan announces WWE WrestleMania 42 return

WWE WrestleMania 42 is just a few days away, and DJ Valentino Khan has already announced his comeback for the PLE.

Hours before the April 7 episode of WWE NXT, Khan took to social media and announced his upcoming WrestleMania return. He shared that he would be “DJing” both nights of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. To celebrate the return, WWE filmed a hilarious segment between him and Rey Mysterio where he tried to persuade the Hall of Famer to reunite with his son, Dominik Mysterio.

Khan had previously performed for WWE at WrestleMania 38 and SummerSlam in 2021. He is now set to return to the promotion at the year’s biggest event on April 18 and 19, 2026.

I’m back again DJing [WWE] Wrestlemania in Vegas. Tried to get Dom & Rey Mysterio to hash it out. It didn’t go so well. Pull up for my sets April 18 & 19 at Allegiant Stadium + all weekend long at WWE World (still working on the Rey & Dom situation),” Khan wrote on social media.

Why IYO Sky vs. Asuka at WWE WrestleMania 42 hasn’t been announced yet

If you’re among those wondering why it’s taking so long to make the IYO SKY vs. Asuka match at next weekend’s WWE WrestleMania 42 official, there’s now an answer: the health status of The Bella Twins.

Our Bryan Alvarez is reporting that the reason is because if Nikki Bella isn’t medically cleared to team with sister Brie in the four-way Women’s Tag Team match at WrestleMania, Asuka & Kairi Sane will take their place. If Nikki gets cleared, the Sky vs. Asuka match will be booked.

It’s unclear what happens with SKY at that point if Asuka must be in the tag match instead.

The 42-year-old Bella was seen in a walking boot following a late-March SmackDown match, later saying she would be back in a week’s time. However, she hasn’t been given the clean bill of health on TV, leaving the door open.

Regardless, the match will take place on night one as the cards per night were announced earlier Tuesday:

WWE reveals WrestleMania 42 cards for both nights

WWE has revealed how it’s dividing up the cards for WrestleMania 42.

During a Tuesday morning appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, SmackDown commentator Joe Tessitore announced the lineups for nights one and two of WrestleMania. He confirmed that night one will be headlined by Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton, who will have Pat McAfee in his corner. The night two main event will be CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The first hour of night one will be simulcast on ESPN2. WWE has announced that Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu (unsanctioned match) and Logan Paul, Austin Theory & IShowSpeed vs. The Usos & LA Knight will air during that part of the show.

On night two, the first hour is being simulcast on ESPN. WWE has loaded up that portion of the card with Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi and the six-way ladder match for Penta’s Intercontinental title.

There is likely still one match to be added to the night two lineup. Currently, night one has seven bouts while night two only has six.

Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is hosting WrestleMania 42 on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. The show will stream live on the ESPN Unlimited app in the United States and on Netflix internationally.

Six-man match official for WWE WrestleMania 42

A six-man tag match is official for WrestleMania 42.

After iShowSpeed inadvertently got himself involved again during a match between LA Knight and Austin Theory on Monday, Adam Pearce came out and made it official that Knight and The Usos would team up to take on iShowSpeed and The Vision in a six-man tag team match at WrestleMania.

Raw saw the massively popular streamer attempt to get uncursed by Danhausen, but found himself out of luck. Pearce suggested he go home, but The Vision convinced him otherwise and brought him out for Theory’s match against Knight. The finish had Paul shove Speed into Knight on the outside, causing Knight to get upset. Speed attempted to flee but was met by The Usos. Speed leaped over Knight and fled back to the ring, there Knight attempted to grab Speed. Knight took out Paul on the apron but the distraction was enough for Theory to roll up Knight for the win.

Ever since being cursed by Danhausen, Speed has found himself knee deep in the problems between The Vision, The Usos, and LA Knight. After attacking Knight by accident and inadvertently costing The Usos the World Tag Team titles on last week’s Raw, Knight retaliated during the week by attacking Speed during one of his livestreams.

Here is the updated card for WrestleMania:

  • World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk defends against Roman Reigns
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Randy Orton
  • Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer defends against Liv Morgan
  • WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill defends against Rhea Ripley
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
  • Seth Rollins vs. Gunther
  • Unsanctioned match: Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu

  • United States Champion Sami Zayn defends against Trick Williams
  • Ladder match: Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Rey Mysterio, Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, Rusev, JD McDonagh
  • Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Lash Legend defend against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
  • Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio
  • The Vision & iShowSpeed vs. LA Knight & The Usos

Pat McAfee was first choice for WWE WrestleMania 42 angle, more details emerge as to why

While some fans weren’t thrilled with the reveal of Pat McAfee as the mystery confidante to Randy Orton on this past Friday’s WWE SmackDown, there is some new information out Monday as how it came together and why.

On Sunday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that the ESPN sports talk host and occasional WWE broadcaster was “the first choice” for the spot and that it came directly from TKO head and McAfee agent Ari Emanuel. However, McAfee turned down the offer at first.

“That’s where it came from. They wanted celebrity involvement. Originally from what I was told, Pat McAfee was the choice and he turned it down. Then, they were scrambling to get somebody else in the spot, and then, obviously, they were able to make a deal with him. So he did it and he was there,” Meltzer said.

That follows reporting from both PWInsider and Fightful that said Emanuel was involved and that the deal was done for “corporate synergy” purposes between WWE and ESPN.

McAfee attacked Cody Rhodes on Friday’s SmackDown during a segment with Orton, then cutting a promo in which he referenced a record-low SmackDown rating (apparently talking about Cagematch data), that WrestleMania 42 still had tickets left, and that he and Orton were going to save the wrestling business.

“This was not a WWE creative move. This was not a Paul Levesque move. It came over their heads and there’s a lot of people not happy about it at all. One person told me it was the single most counterproductive thing the company has done in a long time, but there you go,” Meltzer said.

As referenced earlier, McAfee’s show is on ESPN, the same network which will air next weekend’s WrestleMania 42 as part of their domestic premium live event contract. McAfee is expected to be a major promotional hub for the PLE, raising questions as to how he will handle his heel persona when he is doing interviews.

McAfee said after Friday night’s show that is Orton didn’t win the WWE title from Rhodes at WrestleMania 42, he will never be seen in WWE ever again.

WWE to announce WrestleMania 42 cards on ESPN

It won’t be long until we find out how WWE is dividing up the cards for each night of WrestleMania 42.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque sent out a tweet this morning announcing that WWE commentator Joe Tessitore will be on ESPN’s Get Up this Tuesday at 9:35 a.m. Eastern time. During the appearance, Tessitore will break down the WrestleMania card and reveal which night each match will be happening on.

“Every match on this year’s #WrestleMania card has the opportunity to steal the show and both nights are STACKED,” Levesque wrote. “SmackDown’s @JoeTessESPN will be on @GetUpESPN tomorrow at 9:35am ET to break down which matches will be featured on Saturday and Sunday.”

It’s expected that Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton will be the night one main event, with World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns closing out the weekend in the headlining spot on night two. The show is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the second straight year.

Heading into tonight’s Raw, there are 12 matches officially announced for WrestleMania. Two more bouts are likely to be added to the April 18-19 event, giving each night a seven-match card.

These are the bouts that have been confirmed so far:

  • World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk defends against Roman Reigns
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Randy Orton
  • Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer defends against Liv Morgan
  • WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill defends against Rhea Ripley
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
  • Seth Rollins vs. Gunther
  • Unsanctioned match: Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu
  • Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee defends against Becky Lynch
  • United States Champion Sami Zayn defends against Trick Williams
  • Ladder match: Intercontinental Champion Penta defends against Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, Rusev, JD McDonagh
  • Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax & Lash Legend defend against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
  • Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio

Update on WWE not giving out comps for WrestleMania 42

Bryan Alvarez says WWE is still not giving out comps to WrestleMania.

Despite an angle on WWE SmackDown on Friday referencing the show’s lower than expected ticket sales, WWE is continuing to claim that no free tickets will be given out.

Alvarez wrote to his subscribers on X:

“WWE still claiming at least to a lot of people that there are no comps this year even though they’re making fun of their own low attendance on Smackdown.”

In late 2024, reports surfaced that it had become more difficult for talent to obtain free tickets to shows for friends or family members. Earlier this year, Rikishi said that despite having three kids on the main roster and being under a WWE legends deal, he is not able to get comped tickets to shows.

“You would think that family members and friends, close friends, you still have those comp tickets, but there is no comp tickets,” Rikishi said. “I can probably try to get like a [discount] but what’s a discount nowadays, like, $1,000 a ticket? That’s still, for a family of five and a man working 9 to 5 through the whole week, and the whole family loves wrestling, it’s very difficult to be able to take a family to events.”

WWE SmackDown notes: Lil Yachty, Carmelo Hayes, Nikki Bella

Notes from Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

Trick Williams brought out rapper Lil Yachty on Friday’s show in St. Louis and asked him if he would come to WrestleMania ahead of Williams’ match against Sami Zayn for the United States title. Yachty agreed, adding another celebrity to the mix for the upcoming two night event in Las Vegas.

This brought out Sami Zayn, who exchanged words with Williams. Carmelo Hayes then came out wanting a rematch, pointing out that if it wasn’t for Williams’ involvment last week, Zayn might not be champion. Zayn seemed hesitant to give Hayes the match, but ultimately agreed. Some more teasing by Williams led to Zayn giving him a clothesline out of the ring.

Zayn ended up retaining his title in the main event of SmackDown, though in a controversial way. Hayes tweaked his knee after landing off the turnbuckle and was being checked on by the referee in the corner. Zayn decided to use this to his advantage, hitting the helluva kick and pinning Hayes to score the win. After the match Yachty cut a promo, distracting Zayn long enough for Williams to connect with the Trick shot to end the show.

Earlier in the night, it was brought up that Nikki Bella had rolled her knee during last week’s match against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss. It was noted on commentary that Bella was undergoing rehab and still intends on competing at WrestleMania 42, where she will team with sister Brie against Flair & Bliss, The Irresistible Forces, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria in a match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

Pat McAfee makes promise following WWE SmackDown return

After returning to WWE as the mystery man on the other end of Randy Orton’s phone calls, Pat McAfee has promised that he will never again appear on wrestling television if Orton loses at WrestleMania.

McAfee made the announcement on social media after his appearance on SmackDown.

“How about that marks?” he asked. “Never back on any wrestling television if Randy Orton loses at WrestleMania. I don’t know how long the business will last if that happens, but I will never come back. I am here on a mission to motivate a 6-foot-5, 270-, 280-pound monster to lead the WWE. My friend, the Legend Killer, the GOAT, Randy Orton. Tickets available now. Most important match in the history of this business happens in Las Vegas Nevada. Come watch it live.”

McAfee had not been seen on WWE television since last June. At that time, he announced he was taking a leave from his commentary duties due to mental exhaustion.

Randy Orton is challenging Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 on Saturday and Sunday, April. Tickets are available here.

How Gunther vs. Seth Rollins WrestleMania 42 match came together

The current health status of Bron Breakker didn’t have a direct role in the making of Gunther vs. Seth Rollins for next month’s WWE WrestleMania 42, according to our Dave Meltzer.

The match between the former WWE World Heavyweight Champions came together on Monday’s Raw after Rollins took out Paul Heyman with a chair. The angle was discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio with Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez speculating the bout was made due to Breakker not being cleared.

On X Tuesday, Meltzer wrote the Gunther vs. Rollins match wasn’t made because Breakker wasn’t cleared in time and “that was the updated plan regardless.”

He later added, “There were multiple other ideas since that specific injury.”

Breakker and the also injured Bronson Reed took Rollins out in storyline last October to cover for Rollins’ shoulder surgery. Rollins made his return in February but without Breakker or even Reed to get revenge on.

The news comes after reports earlier this month that there was optimism for Breakker’s return before WrestleMania 42 as he recovers from hernia surgery.

Gunther was reportedly set to take on Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania before Mysterio got injured.
