Lil Yachty & Trick Williams fool Sami Zayn during WWE SmackDown Gingerbread Man funeral

The Gingerbread Man has risen from the dead.

Throughout Friday’s SmackDown in Jacksonville, various wrestlers paid tribute to the Gingerbread Man, which drew the ire of Sami Zayn throughout the night. In the final segment of the show, Williams was paying tribute to the fallen cookie with a moment of silence when Zayn interrupted the proceedings. He went on to complain about the costs of the funeral and panned the performance of the choir that had sung just minutes prior. Zayn promised to win back the United States title from Williams at Backlash on Saturday then started to make his exit, but it instead turned into a cheap shot and an attack, leaving Williams reeling in the corner.

Zayn posed with the United States title when suddenly, the Gingerbread Man rose from his casket and took off his head, revealing himself to be Lil Yachty who was taken out a few weeks ago by Zayn. He grabbed a candy cane kendo stick and struck Zayn multiple times, giving Williams the opportunity to recover and lay out Zayn with the trick knee. The final moments of SmackDown had Williams and Yachty standing tall.

The sudden rise and fall of the Gingerbread Man

Although it had been initially introduced as a joke aimed at Sami Zayn, the Gingerbread Man storyline took a dramatic turn on last week’s show after Zayn destroyed the costume. Williams ran out for the save, then grew concerned and threw up the X sign, treating the situation seriously. Joe Tessitore made the grim announcement later in the show that the cookie had passed on.

It was reported on Thursday that the heavy use of the Gingerbread Man character last week got “notable pushback” from some within WWE’s creative, with a source telling Wrestlevotes Radio they felt the angle was “hokey and archaic.”

Trick Williams says Lil Yachty is going to get in shape and ‘wants a match’

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams has revealed that rapper Lil Yachty wants to get in shape and have a wrestling match.

WWE has always seen the influx of celebrities into its storylines since the beginning. However, as many fans believe it has increased since TKO’s takeover. This year’s WWE WrestleMania 42 buildup alone saw the involvement of Jelly Roll, Pat McAfee, and Lil Yachty.

Speaking on Stephanie McMahon’s ‘What’s Your Story?’ podcast, new WWE United States Champion Williams opened up about his relationship with Yachty and his desire to wrestle a match.

“This is what he told me: He says, ‘Trick, I can’t believe they’re letting me do WrestleMania with you. I ain’t wanna take no shortcuts. I ain’t wanna go straight to the top. I want to go to Delaware, I wanna go to Baton Rouge.’ He said, ‘I want to be one of the boys.’ He said, ‘I love this business. I’ve been watching this for years.’ He wants to be one of the boys,” Williams said.

“We talk, sometimes 2 o’clock in the morning. I’m like, ‘Aite, Yachty.’ Lash [Legend] has had enough. She has had enough. But that’s my boy, and it’s crazy because we both have a desire for excellence. We want it to be good. We want everything that we do to feel like magic. That same feeling that we felt when y’all was doing your thing in the Attitude Era. Everything has to feel real to the people, and he loves it. He said he wants to have a match. Yachty said he wants a match. He’s gonna get in shape and we’re gonna do this. Let’s make it happen.”

While Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee have been involved in wrestling matches, Lil Yachty has yet to get inside the squared circle. Similarly, last year, Travis Scott also got involved in the Cody Rhodes-John Cena storyline and was reportedly training for a match. However, things later got scrapped, and Scott never made his in-ring debut.

WWE SmackDown notes: Sami Zayn & Lil Yachty, Jordynne Grace, Danhausen

Notes from Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

Prior to the show Jordynne Grace made her in-ring return, squaring off against Zelina Vega in a match that will air on Main Event. Grace had been gone for the last month after suffering an ankle injury during a match against Alba Fyre that was also taped for the same show.

Later on SmackDown, Sami Zayn came out for a promo and declared that he didn’t care what fans thought about him because he only cared about those who had his back since day one. Trick Williams and Lil Yachty then arrived, with Williams promising he was going to whoop Zayn at WrestleMania. 

During Williams’ match against Matt Cardona, the former NXT Champion dared Zayn to take him on. Zayn got on the apron but it was a trap, as Yachty tripped Zayn back to the floor. Zayn responded by laying out Yachty with the helluva kick on the outside. Williams was rolled up by Cardona due to the distraction but Williams quickly took out Cardona anyway with the trick shot for the win.

Danhausen wrestled his first match on Friday against Kit Wilson, who had the better of the mysterious new WWE star towards the end. However, Danhausen proceeded to curse Wilson again, leading to pyro bursting out of the turnbuckle and sending Wilson crashing to the ground. Danhausen then scored his first-ever WWE win with a running kick. After the match, the Miz popped up and looked to take out Danhausen, who proceeded to vanish before Miz could get to him.

After Jelly Roll, another musician wants to train for WWE

Following Jelly Roll’s success in WWE as a celebrity wrestler, rapper Lil Yachty now allegedly wants to train and wrestle.

Known for his long history with WWE, Lil Yachty was recently spotted on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, when he formed a partnership with Trick Williams and is set to be there in his corner at WrestleMania 42.

Speaking to Rory & Mal, Williams revealed that Yachty is getting ready and training to wrestle, to grow beyond just being a manager.

“He understands the business. Talking about the similarities between hip-hop and WWE. How to promote, how to market yourself, how to make people feel something. I’m excited to see what Yachty can do in the business, so I think that’s gonna be pretty cool,” Williams said.

“He said he wants to feel the cables. He said he’s gonna get in tip top shape. We got him a trainer. We finna get Yachty right. Let’s talk about it.”

Trick Williams is set to challenge Sami Zayn at WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas for his United States Championship.

Lil Yachty responds to criticism of celebrities at WWE WrestleMania 42

Lil Yachty doesn’t want his WrestleMania moment to be stepped on.

Yachty was featured on WWE SmackDown on Friday, as he is now aligned with Trick Williams, who is preparing to challenge Sami Zayn for the United States title at WrestleMania.

Following Friday’s show, a user on X posted an image of the men’s WrestleMania poster, with the wrestlers replaced by Jelly Roll, Pat McAfee, IShowSpeed, Yachty, and Tom Brady. Yachty responded to the post, writing:

“i understand yall upset but don’t try and step on my f—ing moment, i’m at the tv screen every monday and friday religiously. i’ve been to more ple’s than most. i probably know more history than most of yall. who’s to say i don’t deserve to be apart of something i love so dearly?”

During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive in January, Yachty stated his desire to perform as a manager in WWE, saying he believes he’d be good on the mic.

“I don’t think I’d ever want to wrestle. I’d want to be a manager because I’m really good on the microphone. I’m good off the spot. I can talk,” Yachty said.



WWE SmackDown notes: Lil Yachty, Carmelo Hayes, Nikki Bella

Notes from Friday’s WWE SmackDown.

Trick Williams brought out rapper Lil Yachty on Friday’s show in St. Louis and asked him if he would come to WrestleMania ahead of Williams’ match against Sami Zayn for the United States title. Yachty agreed, adding another celebrity to the mix for the upcoming two night event in Las Vegas.

This brought out Sami Zayn, who exchanged words with Williams. Carmelo Hayes then came out wanting a rematch, pointing out that if it wasn’t for Williams’ involvment last week, Zayn might not be champion. Zayn seemed hesitant to give Hayes the match, but ultimately agreed. Some more teasing by Williams led to Zayn giving him a clothesline out of the ring.

Zayn ended up retaining his title in the main event of SmackDown, though in a controversial way. Hayes tweaked his knee after landing off the turnbuckle and was being checked on by the referee in the corner. Zayn decided to use this to his advantage, hitting the helluva kick and pinning Hayes to score the win. After the match Yachty cut a promo, distracting Zayn long enough for Williams to connect with the Trick shot to end the show.

Earlier in the night, it was brought up that Nikki Bella had rolled her knee during last week’s match against Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss. It was noted on commentary that Bella was undergoing rehab and still intends on competing at WrestleMania 42, where she will team with sister Brie against Flair & Bliss, The Irresistible Forces, and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria in a match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

Trick Williams invites Lil Yachty to next WWE SmackDown

Former NXT Champion Trick Williams has invited Lil Yachty to the next edition of WWE SmackDown.

Earlier this week, fans witnessed Sami Zayn defeat Carmelo Hayes to become the new United States Champion. In a feud with Williams, Zayn then proceeded to book himself in a title match against Williams at WWE WrestleMania 42.

Ahead of his WrestleMania match, Williams has now invited rapper Lil Yachty to attend next week’s SmackDown in St. Louis on April 3rd, 2026.

“So after last night, I’ve been in deep contemplation about what’s going on around here. How in the world did The Gingerbread Man walk out with the United States Championship last night?” Williams asked.

“So this is what we about to do about it. We about to change up the whole dynamic. I wanna personally invite my boy, I’m talking about my day one, a long time back, my HBCU brother Lil Yachty, I need for you to pull up to SmackDown this week,” he added.

“We in St. Louis, I need for you to pull up, spice things up, talk to these folks, man. Let them know what’s going on around here. The games are done, grown folk talking. Pull up on me, dog, let’s talk about it.”

Lil Yachty has become a familiar presence at WWE events in recent years, and with WWE’s love for adding celebrities to WrestleManias, fans can expect Lil Yachty to become a part of it this year alongside the heavily rumored Tom Brady WrestleMania appearance.

Next week, on April 4th, NXT is also set to host Stand & Deliver, where rapper Sexxy Red is scheduled for an appearance.

NBA stars, Michael Chandler, & others attend WWE Elimination Chamber

Multiple celebrities were in attendance at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 in Chicago, IL.

While the PLE featured several star-studded matches, it also hosted the attendance of NBA stars Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, both of whom play for the Milwaukee Bucks. UFC Fighter Michael Chandler was also present at the show, as well as 28-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Yachty.

On Saturday, February 28, Rhea Ripley and Randy Orton won their respective Elimination Chamber matches, while AJ Lee won her first WWE singles title in several years. Another highlight of the show was hometown star CM Punk successfully retaining his World Heavyweight title against Finn Balor.

Last year’s Elimination Chamber PLE featured The Rock and Travis Scott, who helped John Cena turn heel on Cody Rhodes in his final year as a pro-wrestler. While this year missed such celebrity involvements, the above-named stars were present there strictly as the audience.
