Women’s Tag Team titles change hands at WWE Clash at the Castle

Clash at the Castle was a successful homecoming for Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn.

The Scottish duo picked up a big victory at Saturday’s event in Glasgow, winning a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill were the champions heading into Clash at the Castle, but neither took the pin. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark also competed in the match.

As Cargill was going for a pin on Baszler, Dawn swooped in and gave Cargill a German suplex. Fyre then held Belair back as Dawn pinned Baszler to win the titles.

It was an emotional moment after the match as Fyre & Dawn celebrated with their loved ones at ringside and were presented with flowers.

The moment comes less than a month after Fyre (Kayleigh Rae) lost her mother. Bridgeen Mitchell, 51, passed away when she was struck by a car while in Florida visiting her daughter. Fyre’s father was also hit by the car but survived.

On social media, Paul “Triple H” Levesque congratulated Fyre & Dawn on their “massive, statement-making hometown victory.”

This is the first main roster title reign for Fyre & Dawn, though they once held the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles. Fyre is also a former NXT UK Women’s Champion.

Women’s Tag Team title match official for next week’s WWE Raw

On next week’s Raw, Tegan Nox & Natalya are getting their WWE Women’s Tag Team title shot.

Nox & Natalya will challenge for Chelsea Green & Piper Niven’s championships on Raw next Monday (November 27). The announcement of the match was made on Raw Talk last night.

Nox & Natalya earned the title shot by winning a fatal four-way number one contender’s match on last night’s Raw. They defeated Ivy Nile & Maxxine Dupri, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance, and Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell.

To win the number one contender’s match, Nox rolled through on a crossbody and pinned Dupri for the victory.

Niven became Green’s new Tag Team title partner this August, taking over for Sonya Deville after Deville was forced out of action due to a torn ACL.

Raw is taking place from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville next Monday. The following matches have been announced for the show:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven defend against Tegan Nox & Natalya
  • Tag Team Turmoil match for Undisputed WWE Tag Team title shot: New Day vs. Alpha Academy vs. The Creed Brothers vs. DIY vs. Imperium vs. Indus Sher
  • Bronson Reed vs. Ivar

Tegan Nox & Natalya earn WWE Women’s Tag Team title shot

Tegan Nox and Natalya have earned a WWE Women’s Tag Team title match.

Nox & Natalya won a four-way match on Monday’s Raw, defeating the teams of Kayden Carter & Katana Chance, Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell, and Maxxine Dupri & Ivy Nile. Nox scored the win after reversing a flying crossbody attempt by Dupri. With the win, Nox & Natalya have earned a future tag team title match against current champions Chelsea Green & Piper Niven, who were at ringside during the match.

The four teams were seen arguing with Adam Pearce earlier in the night, making their case to be the new number one contenders. Raw GM Adam Pearce then made the four-way on Raw, with Green and Niven not being happy about the outcome.

Since October, Nox and Natalya have formed a partnership, feuding with Green and Nox. After Nox suffered an injury and was briefly sidelined, Natalya and tag partner Nikki Cross lost to Green and Niven. On the October 30 edition of Raw, Green defeated Natalya in a Trick or Street fight thanks to interference from Niven. Nox went on to defeat Niven on last week’s Raw.

New title matches added to NXT Halloween Havoc night two

Two new title matches have been added to next week’s second night of Halloween Havoc.

The North American title will be on the line when Dominik Mysterio defends against Nathan Frazer. The two had a recent altercation backstage on Raw. On Tuesday’s show, Frazer said that last year’s Halloween Havoc was a bad night for him, but he would win the North American title next week.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Piper Niven will defend the titles against Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail. The two teams had a confrontation on this week’s NXT, with Jayne telling the champions that she’d go to Shawn Micheals and propose a title match for next week.

A Tables, Ladders, and Scares match will take place between The Creeds and Angel & Humberto after Halloween Havoc hosts Shotzi and Scarlett spun the wheel, with the wheel landing on the gimmick match. Bron Breakker vs. Mr. Stone was also made official for next week after Stone challenged Breakker last week.

Tiffany Stratton will also face Fallon Henley after the two had an altercation on Tuesday’s show, with Henley dressing up as Stratton and mocking her. The finals of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament will also take place between Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice.

Here is the lineup for next week’s NXT Halloween Havoc night 2:

  • NXT Championship: Ilja Dragunov defends against Carmelo Hayes
  • NXT North American title: Dominik Mysterio defends against Nathan Frazer
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team titles: Chelsea Green & Piper Niven defend against Thea Hail & Jacy Jayne
  • NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament finals: Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice
  • Tables, Ladders, and Scares: Angel & Humberto vs. The Creed Brothers
  • Bron Breakker vs. Mr. Stone
  • Tiffany Stratton vs. Fallon Henley

Chelsea Green: Winning WWE Women’s Tag Team titles was ‘the moment’

Chelsea Green is a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Green and Sonya Deville defeated Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez for the titles on the July 17th Raw from Atlanta’s State Farm Arena and the next day, she was walking the red carpet for the premiere of Cody Rhodes’ upcoming documentary on Peacock.

I had the opportunity to chat with her about winning gold for the first time in WWE and her return to the promotion. You can watch our entire interview above for free on YouTube.

Winning gold

Green explained how winning the titles was “eight years in the making” and that it was the perfect time and place for it to happen.

“I want to tell you that I was overwhelmed with emotion. But honestly, you know my story. Everybody watching this probably knows my story. They’ve seen the ups and downs. I feel like that was the moment. That was the moment: eight years in the making from the time I met Sonya and nine years in the making from when I starting wrestling. That was the moment. It was a perfect place. It was a perfect time. It was the perfect audience. I’m so happy that it was here and now,” she said.

The “Karen” persona

One of the topics I brought up during our conversation was the popularity of her on-screen persona of being a “Karen.” Every week on Raw, fans see Green portray an entitled, demanding, high-maintenance character that has seen a lot of positive feedback from fans on social media.

“The funny thing is I don’t necessarily know that I came back with this cult following that supported me, but I think slowly but surely, I have gained the fans confidence and the fans love,” she said. “Maybe I’ve just entertained them. I don’t know what it is, but I’m okay with that. Whatever it is, I just want to get a reaction when I go out there and I feel like I’ve been getting it. So, I’m so happy for that.”

Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville win Women’s Tag Team titles on WWE Raw

New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions were crowned on Monday’s Raw.

Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville defeated Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Deville pulling Rodriguez off the apron, landing on her injured leg on the floor. Deville and Green then double teamed Morgan, with Green delivering an unprettier. Deville then hit a running knee strike for the win.

Earlier in the show, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley confronted Raquel Rodriguez. After Morgan made a comment to Ripley, Ripley responded by headbutting Morgan. It turned into a brawl, with Ripley targeting Rodriguez’s leg, injuring it in the process. Later in the trainer’s room, a WWE medical staff member told Rodriguez he wanted some more scans. Rodriguez said she wanted to defend the titles on Monday’s show despite the injury. WWE official Adam Pearce then allowed Rodriguez to defend the titles later in the show.

Rodriguez & Morgan held the titles for only 16 days, defeating Ronda Rousey and Shayna Bazler at Money in the Bank on July 1.

New Women’s Tag Team title number one contenders crowned on WWE Raw

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green are next in line for a Women’s Tag Team title match.

Deville & Green won a tag team turmoil match that took place on Monday’s Raw, defeating Indi Hartwell & Candice LeRae, Emma & Nikki Cross, Dana Brooke & Tegan Nox, and Katana Chance & Kayden Karter to earn a shot at the new champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. It was not said when the Women’s Tag Team title match will take place.

Rodriguez & Morgan defeated Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler at Money in the Bank this past Saturday to win the titles for a second time. They won after Baszler turned on Rousey, allowing Morgan and Rodriguez to score the victory. Rousey and Baszler had another confrontation on Raw Monday, with Baszler once again laying out Rousey.

Deville & Green have been teaming since earlier this year, qualifying for a match at WrestleMania where they lost a four-way women’s tag team showcase match. In May, they took part in a four-way match for the vacant Women’s Tag Team titles that were won by Rousey and Baszler.

WWE announces Women’s Tag Team title unification match

A match to unify the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team titles will take place in two week’s time.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre will meet on the June 23 edition of SmackDown to unify both sets of titles. This comes following a confrontation that took place on Friday’s SmackDown between the two teams.

Fyre and Dawn had made their way to the ring when they were cut off by Rousey and Baszler. Baszler told the two that there simply wasn’t room in WWE for both champions, and challenged them to a title unification match. The confrontation soon turned physical, with Baszler and Rousey focusing on Fyre before Dawn made the save.

When Fyre and Dawn were called up from NXT to the SmackDown roster, they brought with them the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles. They had won them back on April 1 at WWE Stand and Deliver, defeating Fallon Henley and Kiana James.

WWE Women’s Tag Team titles vacated due to Liv Morgan injury

The WWE Women’s Tag Team titles have been vacated.

It was announced on social media Friday evening that the titles were vacated due to Liv Morgan’s injury that she suffered on last week’s SmackDown. New champions will be crowned on the May 29 edition of Raw, when Raquel Rodriguez and a mystery partner will team up to take on Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, Bayley & IYO SKY of Damage CTRL, and Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green in a four-way match.

Morgan was injured following a kick that took place during a title match against Damage CTRL on last week’s SmackDown. Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez were originally set to defend the titles against Green & Deville on this past Monday’s Raw, but that match was postponed due to Morgan’s injury. Rodriguez instead defeated Green in a singles match.

After that match, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler made their first appearance on WWE television since WrestleMania, attacking Rodriguez.

Rodriguez & Morgan won the titles back on the April 10, 2023 edition of Raw, defeating Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, the latter of whom was substituting for Lita.

Women’s Tag Team title match announced for next week’s WWE Raw

A Women’s Tag Team title match is set for next week’s Raw.

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green will face the winners of the Women’s Tag Team title match that will take place this Friday on SmackDown. Deville and Green will either face Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez or Damage CTRL (Bayley and Dakota Kai). Green and Deville had spent much of Monday’s Raw trying to get the roster to sign a petition that would grant them a title match.

Intercontinental Champion Gunther will also be making his Raw debut next week. The rest of Imperium made their debut on this week’s show, confronting Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The two teams later faced off in a match, with Owens and Zayn winning.

Shinsuke Nakamura will meet The Miz in singles action. After both failed to advance in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament, Miz told Nakamura to consider his idea of them becoming a tag team. Nakamura instead suggested the two have a match on next week’s show.

Here is the lineup so far for next week’s Raw:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team titles: either Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan or Damage CTRL (Bayley and Dakota Kai) vs. Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville
  • Intercontinental Champion Gunther’s Raw debut
  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The Miz

Women’s Tag Team title match set for next week’s WWE Raw

A Women’s Tag Team Championship match is set for the April 10 WWE Raw event.

Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez defeated Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai & IYO SKY on Monday’s Raw after WrestleMania to become number one contenders to Becky Lynch & Lita’s Women’s Tag Team titles. The title bout was then announced for next week.

Lynch, Lita, and Trish Stratus defeated Bayley, Kai, and Sky on night one of WrestleMania 39 on Saturday. Damage CTRL’s Bayley was notably absent from Monday’s Raw after WrestleMania, while Stratus appeared in a backstage promo segment with Lynch & Lita.

Morgan & Rodriguez competed in a four-way tag team Showcase match on WrestleMania Sunday, a match won by Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, neither of whom appeared on the Raw after WrestleMania.

Also announced for next week, the returning Matt Riddle will face The Miz.

Riddle made his return to WWE after a months-long absence on the Raw after WrestleMania, interrupting a Miz promo to set up the bout for next week.

The April 10 Raw will be held at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

The announced lineup:

  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Becky Lynch & Lita defend against Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez
  • Matt Riddle vs. The Miz

Women’s Tag Team title update for WWE WrestleMania 39

Despite the champions being announced for a six-woman tag match, the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles are still going to be defended at WrestleMania 39.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler are still planned to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at WrestleMania.

It was announced on Raw last night that Becky Lynch, Lita & Trish Stratus will face Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) at WrestleMania. Lynch & Lita are the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but Meltzer noted that he doesn’t know if they’ll still be champions by WrestleMania or if Kai & SKY will win the titles back before then.

“They still have a tag title match. There’s gonna be two matches coming out of this program. So whoever are the champions will wrestle Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, but they’re also doing the [six-woman],” Meltzer said.

“I don’t know if Kai & SKY are going to win the belts back or it’s going to be Lita & Becky Lynch, but Rousey & Baszler are still getting the Tag Team title shot, as has been planned all along. And likely winning them, unless Rousey’s injury doesn’t heal. Which they are, right now, of the impression that — she’s not gonna be 100 percent healed, but the impression is that she will be ready to do the match.”

Rousey has reaggravated a prior injury but is still expected to compete at WrestleMania.

WrestleMania 39 is taking place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2. The six-woman tag match will presumably take place one night with the Women’s Tag Team title match being part of the card for the other night.

VIDEO: Dave Meltzer & Bryan Alvarez discuss WWE Women’s Tag Team title match on Raw

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the Women’s Tag Team title match that took place on Raw.

On Tuesday morning’s show, Meltzer and Alvarez talked about the match, which saw Lita and Becky Lynch win the titles from Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO SKY). The finish saw Trish Stratus make her WWE return, helping Stratus and Lita ward off Bayley at ringside long enough for Lita to hit the moonsault for the win.

Alvarez theorized that it could be that Stratus, Lita, and Lynch vs. Damage CTRL in a six-woman tag team match at WrestleMania 39. However, Ronda Rousey & Shanya Baszler have been teaming in recent weeks, leading to speculation.

“They’re definitely chasing the titles,” Meltzer said in regards to Rousey and Baszler. “I was of the impression that they were still challenging for the titles. So we’ll see.”

Baszler and Rousey have targeted Natalya since her return from injury at the Royal Rumble. During last Friday’s SmackDown, Tegan Nox warded them off after continuing to attack Natalya following a match. Nox & Natalya will now face Rousey & Baszler this Friday.

Women’s Tag Team title rematch set for WWE Crown Jewel

A WWE Women’s Tag Team title rematch will take place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia this Saturday.

WWE has announced that Alexa Bliss & Asuka will make their first Women’s Tag Team title defense as they face Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY) at Crown Jewel. Bliss & Asuka dethroned Kai & SKY as Women’s Tag Team Champions on last night’s episode of Raw.

After being laid out by Damage CTRL four weeks ago, Bliss & Asuka made their return to WWE television by saving Bianca Belair from a Damage CTRL beatdown on last night’s Raw. That led to Bliss & Asuka facing off with Kai & SKY in the main event.

Damage CTRL’s Bayley is challenging Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship in a Last Woman Standing match at Crown Jewel.

Belair and Bayley were at ringside for the Women’s Tag Team title match on last night’s Raw. Bayley ended up giving Belair a Bayley-to-Belly off the barricade and through a pair of tables.

The Crown Jewel main card streams live on Peacock/WWE Network starting at noon Eastern time this Saturday (November 5). Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against Logan Paul
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Last Woman Standing match: Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair defends against Bayley
  • Steel cage match: Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross
  • Braun Strowman vs. Omos
  • Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos defend against Ridge Holland & Butch
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss & Asuka defend against Dakota Kai & IYO SKY
  • The OC (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) vs. The Judgement Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio)
  • Bray Wyatt will appear

Alexa Bliss & Asuka win Women’s Tag Team titles on WWE Raw

The end of Monday’s Raw saw new Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned.

Asuka and Alexa Bliss defeated IYO SKY and Dakota Kai to win the titles for the first time as a team. The finish came when Asuka blocked IYO SKY’s moonsault, connecting with a kick. Bliss then hit SKY with the Twisted Bliss, picking up the win.

This ends SKY and Kai’s run with the titles after 50 days. They defeated Aliyah and Raquel Rodrigez to win the titles on the September 12, 2022 edition of Raw.

Bliss and Asuka made their return to Raw on Monday after being laid out on the October 3 edition of the show by Damage CTRL. They made the save for Bianca Belair, who was being attacked by all three members of the group. Later, Bliss challenged the champions to a title match, which was confirmed later in the show.

Belair and Bayley, who are scheduled to meet each other at Crown Jewel on Saturday, were at ringside for the match seconding the two teams. They ended up in a brawl, with Bayley sending both she and Belair through tables outside the ring announcer’s area.
