Women’s Ultimate X, Knockouts title rematch set for Impact Hard to Kill

Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James will defend against former champion Deonna Purrazzo in a rematch at January’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view.

James defeated Mercedes Martinez at Saturday’s Turning Point in Las Vegas and after the match, Purrazzo ran out and attacked James, laying her out with a piledriver. Afterward, she said she would regain her title at the January 8th PPV in Dallas, Texas.

James ended Purrazzo’s second reign with the title back at October’s Bound for Glory with Saturday being the former champion’s first in-ring appearance since losing the title.

Hard to Kill will also feature the company’s first-ever women’s Ultimate X match. The match was created in 2003 and has taken place 44 times. The amount of participants, nor any specific names, accompanied the announcement.

Both matches are the first announced for the show.

Ultimate X match set for Impact Slammiversary

One of Impact Wrestling’s signature match types is making its return at this year’s Slammiversary pay-per-view.

Impact Wrestling has announced that Josh Alexander will defend his X-Division Championship against Trey Miguel, Ace Austin, Chris Bey, Rohit Raju, and Petey Williams in an Ultimate X match at Slammiversary. The PPV is taking place on Saturday, July 17.

A number one contender’s match featuring Miguel, Austin, Bey, Raju, and Williams had taken place at last Saturday’s Against All Odds Impact Plus special, but it ended in a no contest due to interference by Madman Fulton. Fulton is aligned with Austin.

This will be Impact’s first Ultimate X match since 2019.

Slammiversary is being held at Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. There will be a limited number of fans in attendance, making this the first Impact show with a live crowd since March 2020. Sami Callihan has been set to challenge for Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship at the PPV, but Callihan is currently involved in a storyline where he’s been fired from Impact by Don Callis.

Ultimate X match returning for TNA: There’s No Place Like Home

One of the promotion’s signature match types is returning for Impact Wrestling’s one-night-only TNA revival.

It was announced today that an Ultimate X match will take place at TNA: There’s No Place Like Home. The participants for the match haven’t been revealed.

D’Lo Brown & Ken Anderson (representing Aces & Eights), Chris Sabin, “Wildcat” Chris Harris, Scott Steiner, Petey Williams, Amazing Red, and Disco Inferno are the wrestlers who have been announced for There’s No Place Like Home.

The Ritz Ybor City is hosting the show on Friday, April 3. It’s part of WrestleCon’s events in Tampa, Florida during WrestleMania week.

The most recent Ultimate X match took place at Impact’s United We Stand show during WrestleMania week last year. Johnny Impact won the match and went on to unsuccessfully challenge for the X-Division title in his final match for Impact Wrestling at Slammiversary XVII last July.

Ace Austin is Impact’s current X-Division Champion.

There’s No Place Like Home will also be available live via Fite TV.
