Big Vinny V: A nothin’ happenin’ edition of TNA Impact

Image: TNA

Almost nothing happened on TNA Impact this week which should make for a great Big Vinny V Show.

On the Sacrifice fallout special, there were no great matches and no big turn, debuts, or returns. And most importantly, nothing was specifically set up for the big Unbreakable streaming special in Las Vegas in four weeks.

Oh, Nic Nemeth explained why he sided with his brother and turned on the Hardys at Sacrifice and that will certainly be the next Tag Team title program. And there were plenty of cameos by Lash Legend, Jacy Jayne, and other women from NXT as TNA continues to flesh out its Knockouts division with random NXT midcarders.

But mostly everyone kept spinning their wheels in an utterly skippable episode.

I watched it so you don’t have to, the least you could do is listen. Please.

Big Vinny V: Josh Alexander’s TNA farewell

Image: TNA

It’s the last match in the promotion for one of the biggest stars in TNA history…so why did it feel so underwhelming?

On this week’s Big Vinny V Show, I review Alexander’s match against Eric Young as well as Joe Hendry defending the TNA World title against Jake Something; tragedy striking (literally) Santino Marella; the By Elegance Brand facing former NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions; Mustafa Ali officially announcing his new “Cabinet,” Frankie Kazarian, Mance Warner, and Sami Callihan wasting my time; JDC starting trouble with Leon Slater; Xia Brookside taking on NXT’s Cora Jade; and Savannah Evans challenging Masha Slamovich for the Knockouts title.

Wow, that’s a lot of stuff to cover. We’ll get to all that and more on the latest Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact recap with First Class vs. the Nemeth brothers

This week’s Big Vinny V Show recaps last Thursday’s edition of TNA Impact.

Former TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth appeared for the first time since losing the title at Genesis and his little brother immediately got him into trouble, running his mouth and picking a fight that didn’t need to happen. Things deteriorated from there.

Elsewhere, we got to witness NXT’s Cora Jade, ring general; Leon Slater vs. Brian Myers with the rest of The System making their presence known; Sami Callihan and Mance Warner kept fighting; Mustafa Ali, squared off with Laredo Kid in his first TNA match since July; Josh Alexander teamed with Eric Young against The Northern Armory but again only found disappointment; and NXT’s Wes Lee battled Ace Austin in an inter-promotional battle that I loved even if the live crowd didn’t.

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact recap with Joe Hendry vs. Matt Cardona

Image: TNA

Heavy is the head that wears the crown as no sooner had Joe Hendry won the TNA World title than he found himself defending it against Matt Cardona on last week’s TNA Impact — the first live edition of the show in nearly a decade.

We talk about all that and more on today’s Big Vinny V Show.

We also had a Knockouts division trios match that set up Masha Slamovich’s next challenger, an invader from NXT, Josh Alexander explaining why he quit TNA and then, apparently, un-quitting; a short, big-name tag match that set up a new challenger for Moose, the X-Division champion; the resolution of 23, PCO’s departure, and an indie star making his national TV debut; Fraxiom defending the NXT Tag Team titles against The Rascalz in an EXCELLENT wrestling match with a dumb finish; a former X-Division champion returning to apparently feud with Mike Santana; and the TV format that instantly made Impact a leader for best weekly wrestling show in 2025.

Big Vinny V Show: TNA Final Resolution review

Image: TNA

The final big TNA show of 2024 was last Friday’s Final Resolution, the company’s second streaming special in just two weeks.

With so little time to promote a show, perhaps it’s no surprise that the biggest story coming out of the event wasn’t any of the matches, but a returning star. Tessa Blanchard was last seen in the company as their reigning World champion before she was fired after multiple accusations of backstage verbal abuse became public as well as her failure to appear and drop the title during the pandemic.

Mind you, there was also news in the ring with Nic Nemeth defending the World championship against AJ Francis; Joe Hendry, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, and Mike Santana facing off to determine a title challenger at January’s Genesis; and the Hardys defending their Tag Team titles against The System in a blatant, yet effective, display of nostalgia.

We break it all down on the new Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: TNA’s final approach to Final Resolution

Image: TNA

Somebody at TNA Wrestling scheduled two app specials in two weeks, leaving the crew scrambling to throw a card together for last Thursday’s Impact with no time to waste.

That means I have no time to waste on this week’s Big Vinny V Show with a recap of the beginning of the final descent into this Friday’s Final Resolution.

We got a five-way match as KUSHIDA, Trent Seven, Ace Austin, Leon Slater, and JDC battled to see who will challenge Moose for the X-Division title; a tag match set up for no reason other than four mean dudes all felt like fighting; a World championship challenge issued by AJ Francis to Nic Nemeth and accepted in a hasty hallway promo battle; a Tag Team championship match between The Hardys and The System with no finish so they could do a rematch eight days later; Tasha Steelz vs. Jordynne Grace in a de facto top contender’s match for Masha Slamovich’s Knockouts title; and a wacky eight-man main event that was supposed to build up a four-way top contender’s match but didn’t do a very good job of it.

Big Vinny V: TNA Impact & the road to Friday’s Turning Point

Image: TNA

This past Thursday’s TNA Impact was dedicated to building up Turning Point and this week’s Big Vinny V Show is dedicated to talking about that effort.

That build up was the theory, at least. The good news is we now know Masha Slamovich will be defending the Knockouts title against Jordynne Grace and there’s reason to believe it will be even better than last time.

Otherwise? We had Ash by Elegance going on a win streak against the Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Mike Santana and Frankie Kazarian having a promo battle to give the former something to do on the streaming app special, a tag team match that set up a challenger for Moose’s X-Division title in bizarre fashion, and a trios match with nothing on the line that will led to a three-way trios match with nothing on the line.

Oh, and a mini-movie exploring the horrors of warfare and Steve Maclin’s PTSD.

We’ll try to make it fun on the all-new Big Vinny V Show!

Big Vinny V: The build for TNA Turning Point begins

Image: TNA

With their next streaming special just two weeks away, TNA Wrestling has no time to waste in building a card for Turning Point which is the focus of this week’s Big Vinny V recap of Impact.

Nic Nemeth will defend the TNA World title against Eddie Edwards at Turning Point, but first he had to get past Edwards’ tag partner Brian Myers. Joe Hendry’s not done with the champ, but he also had a score to settle with Nic brother, Ryan.

Elsewhere, Steve Maclin continued his war with Josh Alexander’s Northern Armory in a brilliant trios match; Mike Santana and Rosemary got some showcase wins; and The Rascalz started their climb back to the top of the tag division.
