TNA Wrestling honors Jordynne Grace after Genesis, declares her ‘Forever Champ’

TNA Wrestling’s staff and roster paid tribute to Jordynne Grace following Genesis on Sunday night.

Grace was defeated by the returning Tessa Blanchard on the show in a match that went a little over 20 minutes. She is believed to have finished up with the company and is expected to debut with WWE shortly.

In a special ceremony following Genesis, TNA presented Grace with a signed belt and declared her the “Forever TNA Champion.” Alicia Edwards also opted to show her appreciation by shoving cake in Grace’s face.

“You deserve everything,” responded Chelsea Green.

“One of the best wrestlers in the world right there,” wrote Lars Frederiksen of Rancid.

Grace signed with Impact Wrestling in October 2018, shortly after competing in the Over the Budget Battle Royal at the first All In event. She is a three-time Knockouts Champion and one-time Knockouts Tag Team Champion, along with Rachael Ellering. The 677 total days she’s spent with the Knockouts belt is second all-time only to Gail Kim, who held the title for 711 days split across seven title reigns.

TNA Genesis card finalized, new match and stipulation set

TNA has finalized the card for Sunday’s Genesis pay-per-view, with a new match added, a new stipulation set, and WWE NXT involvement teased.

On the same day TNA and WWE announced a formal extension of their partnership, TNA posted a video to its YouTube channel hinting at an NXT presence on Sunday’s show:

The already announced Josh Alexander vs. Mike Santana grudge match at Genesis has some extra oomph to it as well, as an I Quit stipulation has been added to the bout.

In a new match announced on Thursday’s Impact, The System’s Eddie Edwards and Brian Myers will face Eric Young and Steve Maclin.

TNA Genesis airs Sunday, January 19 on pay-per-view. The Countdown to Genesis begins at 7 p.m. Eastern time on TNA’s digital media channels, with the SiriusXM Busted Open cast hosting. The main card kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern.

The finalized TNA Genesis card:

  • TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth defends against Joe Hendry
  • TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Rosemary in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match
  • Jordynne Grace vs. Tessa Blanchard
  • TNA Tag Team Champions Matt & Jeff Hardy defend against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)
  • TNA X-Division Champion Moose defends against Ace Austin
  • I Quit match: Josh Alexander vs. Mike Santana

  • Eddie Edwards & Brian Myers vs. Steve Maclin & Eric Young
  • Pre-show: Frankie Kazarian vs. Leon Slater

Pre-show match added to TNA Genesis

A new match announcement has been made for TNA Genesis 2025.

The pay-per-view is being held in Garland, Texas this Sunday night. TNA announced today that, on the pre-show broadcast, Frankie Kazarian vs. Leon Slater will take place. The pre-show has a start time of 7 p.m. Eastern airing for free on TNA’s digital platforms. It will also be shown in Canada on Sportsnet 360.

Kazarian vs. Slater was set up by a backstage interaction on a recent episode of Impact. Saying he sees something special in Slater, Kazarian offered to mentor him. But Slater turned the offer down after Kazarian wanted Slater to run errands for him.

The two faced off on a UK tour for TNA in 2023, where Slater earned a long-term contract with the promotion. Kazarian won both of the matches they had.

Though this bout is happening on the pre-show, Kazarian could potentially play a role in the World title picture at Genesis. He holds the Call Your Shot gauntlet trophy and is able to cash it in for a title shot of his choosing. Kazarian has said he’ll be keeping an eye on the main event of the PPV with Nic Nemeth defending the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry.

Here is the updated Genesis lineup:

TNA Genesis 2025 (Sunday, January 19) —

  • TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth defends against Joe Hendry
  • Clockwork Orange House of Fun match: TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Rosemary
  • Jordynne Grace vs. Tessa Blanchard
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defend against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)

Updated TNA Genesis card, Tessa Blanchard vs. Jordynne Grace official

The card for the Sunday, January 19 TNA Genesis pay-per-view continues to take shape following this week’s Impact.

One of four new matches set for the card is Tessa Blanchard facing Jordynne Grace, a bout added during Thursday’s Impact episode following a pull-apart in the ring between Blanchard and Grace. It will be the first TNA match for Blanchard since 2020, when she left the promotion as its World Champion without dropping the title in the ring.

A grudge match between Mike Santana and Josh Alexander is also newly-announced for the January 19 Genesis PPV. Santana faced Alexander and his Northern Armory in a gauntlet match on Impact that was ruled a no contest after Northern Armory all attacked Santana at once.

Masha Slamovich will defend the Knockouts World Championship against Rosemary in a Clockwork Orange House of Fun match at Genesis as suggested by TNA Hall of Famer Raven in his surprise Impact appearance.

The TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles will also be on the line on January 19, with Spitfire’s Jody Threat and Dani Luna defending against Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance.

X-Division Champion Moose has also revealed that he will debut a new title belt to represent the Championship at Genesis.

The updated lineup for Genesis:

TNA Genesis, Sunday, January 19 —

  • TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth defends against Joe Hendry
  • Tessa Blanchard vs. Jordynne Grace
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defend against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)
  • TNA X-Division Champion Moose defends against Ace Austin
  • Clockwork Orange House of Fun match: TNA Knockouts World Champion Masha Slamovich defends against Rosemary
  • Mike Santana vs. Josh Alexander
  • TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions Jody Threat & Dani Luna defend against Ash by Elegance & Heather by Elegance

Two title matches added to TNA Genesis

Two new title bouts are set for the TNA Genesis pay-per-view on Sunday, January 19.

In a first-ever meeting, The Hardys will defend their TNA Tag Team Championship against Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel of The Rascalz.

In an unorthodox segment on Thursday’s TNA Impact episode, Matt and Jeff Hardy crashed a backstage promo segment with The Rascalz and challenged the duo to be their challengers for Genesis, noting how much The Rascalz remind them of themselves:

In another new title match set for January 19 in Dallas, Moose will put the X-Division title on the line against Ace Austin.

Austin initially cut a promo on Impact indicating that he was going to challenge for the World title:

After an intense promo exchange with the interrupting Champion and the challenger that invoked Austin’s injured tag partner Chris Bey, Marella made Moose vs. Austin official for Genesis:

Already set for Genesis is Nic Nemeth defending the TNA World title against Joe Hendry.

The updated card for the Sunday, January 19 TNA Genesis pay-per-view:

  • TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth defends against Joe Hendry
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) defend against The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel)
  • TNA X-Division Champion Moose defends against Ace Austin

TNA Impact TV taping spoilers: The build to Genesis

The following are spoilers from TNA’s Saturday TV taping in Atlanta, Georgia, where they had the fallout from Friday’s Final Resolution and the full build to January’s Genesis pay-per-view.

With TNA having no more tapings from now through the mid-January PPV, the action taped Saturday, plus some assumed ‘Best of’ episodes, will make up most of the next five weeks of TV.

  • Jake Something defeated Laredo Kid
  • The Rascalz defeated the Good Hands
  • Joe Hendry cut an in-ring promo but was interrupted by Ryan Nemeth which led to the next match.
  • Ryan Nemeth defeated Rhino by DQ
  • Ace Austin defeated KUSHIDA. Austin said he wanted to go after the World title before he was interrupted by X-Division Champion Moose. Santino Marella then made a title match between the two for Genesis.
  • Mike Santana cut an in-ring promo and was interrupted by Josh Alexander and the Northern Armory. This led to a Santana vs. Northern Armory gauntlet match later.
  • Eric Young, Johnathan Gresham & Steve Maclin defeated The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers & JDC). The System attacked afterward and took out Gresham by putting his head through a chair and running it into the ringpost.
  • Nic Nemeth cut a promo and was interrupted by Ryan who said they were facing Hendry and Rhino in a tag team match.
  • Lei Ying Lee defeated Savannah Evans. Xia Brookside was supposed to face Evans, but said she wasn’t medically cleared.

  • Gauntlet match: Mike Santana defeated Judas Icarus and Travis Williams but the match was thrown out while he was facing Alexander as all three men attacked Santana.
  • Jordynne Grace cut an in-ring promo and was attacked by Tessa Blanchard, followed by a pull apart brawl. They will now square off at Genesis.
  • Moose and Alisha Edwards cut a promo where Moose threw down the X-Division title and said a new championship will debut at Genesis. He was interrupted by Andrew Everett which led to the next match.
  • X-Division Champion Moose defeated Andrew Everett
  • Rhino & Joe Hendry defeated TNA Champion Nic Nemeth & Ryan Nemeth
  • Leon Slater defeated Trent Seven
  • Knockouts Tag Team Champions Spitfire, Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich & Jordynne Grace defeated Heather and Ash by Elegance, Tasha Steelz & Rosemary

  • Jordynne Grace came out to the announcers’ table, said something into the headset, and walked off.
  • Joe Hendry and Nic Nemeth were out for a final promo for their Genesis World title match. Ryan came out and he got hit with the Standing Ovation. Nic then landed a superkick on Hendry.
  • Tessa Blanchard then came out to the announcers’ table and also said something into the headset. Jordynne Grace then came out to brawl with her and laid her out.
  • TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys defeated Sami Callahan & PCO. PCO was said to be hurt and had to be helped to the back.

TNA announces Genesis PPV & live edition of Impact for January

TNA Wrestling will kick off 2025 with a pay-per-view, but not Hard to Kill as has been the case for the last five years.

During Saturday’s Bound for Glory, the promotion announced Genesis will emanate from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, on Sunday, January 19th.

That PPV will be followed by a live edition of TNA Impact on Thursday, January 23rd from the Boeing Center in San Antonio, Texas, followed by a TV taping the following night in the same venue.

It’s the first-such Genesis since 2021 and their tenth overall. The first Genesis took place in November 2005 and was held in the same month for two more years before transitioning to January in 2009.

It’s unknown if TNA will continue use the Hard to Kill name for another PPV or streaming show in the future, and why the change was made to begin with. Since January 2020, it has been the company’s first PPV of the year.
