Ring of Honor TV live results: CMLL trios showcase

Tonight’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will be headlined by a CMLL trios showcase in addition to a men’s TV title match.

ROH Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara will team with Dark Panther & Fuego against Hechicero, Soberano Jr. and Barbaro Cavernario in that trios bout.

Men’s TV Champion Komander will be in search of his fourth successful title defense as he faces Lee Johnson who recently took the champion to a time limit draw to earn the shot.

Reigning AEW Trios Champion and former ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta will face the returning Fuego Del Sol who makes his first appearance for the promotion since last August.

Abadon returns to ROH for the first time since last November when she faces Rachael Ellering who is on a three-match losing streak.

Former women’s TV Champion Billie Starkz will be in action for the first time in more than a month as will the Gates of Agony.

**********

With a title match, a 12-man match and so, so many luchadores, ROH on Honorclub episode 104 promised an action-packed night of action packed into an action-packed episode!

Wheeler Yuta defeated Fuego Del Sol

Death Rider Yuta is the only man to be a multiple-time ROH Pure Champion. Yuta lost that title to Lee Moriarty all the way back at Death Before Dishonor 2024 and hasn’t set foot in an ROH ring since. Currently, he’s one-third of the AEW Trios Champions, but it’s doubtful that will impress Del Sol who also has been MIA, last seen on episode #81 of ROH on Honorclub. In spite of Yuta’s questionable beard, this was obviously going to be a banger!

A slap of honor was delivered by Yuta, knocking the luchadore onto his back before the bell even rung. From there, Yuta hit a senton and a whole bunch of high-impact suplexes and slams. Del Sol fought, er, kicked his way back into it though, responding with a big dropkick and headscissor takedown.

Yuta opted for a more brawling style, clearly the Death Rider influence on the former Pure Champion. That threw Del Sol for a loop at first, but as the speed of the match picked up, you could see Del Sol starting to find his groove. Yuta slowed things back down with a bridge submission move, but Del Sol got to the ropes to break it.

Del Sol found an opening and things picked up speed. After a stomp, he went up top, but Yuta turned him inside out with a running knee on is way down. That did it for Del Sol and Yuta picked up the win.

After the match, Yuta grabbed a length of chain from under the mat. Before the ref could stop him, he began choking Del Sol with it. Del Sol actually began coughing up blood while the crowd booed and the ROH locker room emptied.

Nah, it didn’t. No one came to help Del Sol and Yuta just wandered off through the crowd.

Abadon defeated Rachael Ellering

Abadon’s last match in ROH was way back at episode #90 when they defeated Viva Van. Ellering has not had a win in ROH since August of 2024 and counts Diamante, Trish Adora and most recently, Queen Aminata as folks who’ve chalked up wins over her. Abadon is no pushover, so Ellering had her hands full searching for that elusive first win of 2025.

For those not familiar with Abadon, think Finn Balor’s Demon character, but if it was a clown. She’s a monster in the ring and Ellering could not find a way around her off the top. Abadon refused to let go form the code of honor and Ellering tried to turn it into a headlock, only to be bitten by Abadon who did not seem to realize that was against the rules.

A contrast to the previous match, this was a slug fest. Lots of shoulders and big back elbows. Ellering wasn’t able to tap into her technical skills, but pound for pound could keep up with Abadon. She hit a big senton squish, but Abadon responded with a leg drop on the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) followed by a knee in the corner.

Ellering decided that the shortest point between two distances was punching Abadon in the face and trying a second Squish. Abadon took some chops with a laugh and a scream before delivering a big spike cutter followed by Black Dahlia. Ellering was o-u-t, out and Abadon got the pin. And the screams. Lots of screams.

12 Man Tag Team Match: The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) (w/Leila Grey) defeated Griff Garrison, Jacked Jameson, Preston Vance (w/Cole Karter) & The Premier Athletes (Ariya Daivari, Mark Sterling & Tony Nese)

The newly minted and allergic-to-shirts “Frat House” consisting of Griff Garrison, Jacked Jameson, and Preston Vance (With Cole Karter on the outside of course) teamed up with the Premier Athletes’ Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, and (for some reason) “Smart” Mark Sterling instead of Josh Woods. Their opponents were a trio of duos; Top Flight, The Outrunners, and lo and behold, it’s the returning Marshal and Ross Von Erich, of the apropriately named Von Erichs! They are still two-thirds of the ROH World Six-Man Champions (along with Dustin Rhodes), and have been on the shelf since ROH epsiode #84. Now that they are back, the Trio’s Titles might become an thing again, assuming MxM hasn’t stolen those belts as well.

Magnum and Floyd came down to the ring and I have to mention that Magnum wearing athletic tape in the Outrunner colors was an absolute Chef’s Kiss to their schtick. The crowd was really pumped for the returning Von Erichs as well.

Darious and Nese kicked things off and immediately Nese isolated Darious in the Athlete/Frat corner. They all wailed on Darious, and Garrison tagged in. Duante tagged in and Jameson met him in the middle of the ring, ducking a clothesline.

Vance and Floyd locked up next, with Floyd ending up in the corner previously occupied by Darious. After the sextuple-team, Nese tagged in Sterling who threw a few punches at Floyd before Vance tagged back in and saved him. The Athlete/Frat team set out on a whirlwind of tags, each mand spending about 15 seconds in the ring then tagging in someone else, keeping Magnum isolated.

Magnum went for a hot tag, but before he could get there, all 5 members of Athle-Frat rand around the ring and brawled with the entire other team. In the ring, Vance tried to get a quick pin, but Magnum reversed a sleeper into a back suplex and got the hottest of hot tags to Floyd.

One by one, the Frat-thletes (there it is) ran into the ring and Floyd disposed of them. Sterling tried to hit him from behind and Floyd set him up for a beating, but Jameson made the save. Magnum knocked Jameson out, leaving Sterling alone in the ring to take a Total Recall. The Von Erichs kept the Frat-thletes at bay, and Floyd pinned Sterling.

Also, just to keep you in the loop, prior to the match, Garrison, Karter and Vance made Jameson drink a mystery drink from a solo cup. I mention this, because the announcers kept mentioning the drink, but absolutely nothing came of it, in an otherwise really fun match!

Billie Starkz defeated Hyan

The Ballad of Billie Starkz lumbers on as she comes in fresh off of losses to Harley Cameron and Tony Storm on the High Seas. Now that she’s back on solid ground, she may have a shot to turn things around, but with ROH Women’s Champion Athena accompanying her to the ring to keep Starkz in her MiT place, who can say? Hyan was last seen on Honorclub way back in July of 2024, but has kept pretty busy on the indies since then.

The Smiling Starkz of the Sea from last week was nowhere to be found as the two locked up in the middle of the ring, exchanging wristlocks. Starkz powered through and hit a sunset flip followed by a big kick. From there, Starkz kept control of things until Hyan dodged her attempt a a cannonball, sending Starkz into the ringpost.

The two battled back and forth with Starkz going up top for a swan dive. Hyan dodged it though and hit a big back suplex for a two-count. Starkz caught a chop from Hyan and delivered a few big forearms, driving Hyan into the corner. Starkz then got Hyan up in what could best be described as a reverse Last Ride, slamming her onto her back and getting the victory.

Athena, who came to the ring with Starkz, did not appear to still be there as she left. Where did she go? Who knows. Life is full of mysteries, as is ROH.

ROH World Television Title Match: Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) (c) defeated Lee Johnson (w/EJ Nduka)

Johnson is the second man to take Komander to a Proving Ground Draw to earn a shot at the ROH TV title. The first was QT Marshall who failed to take the title from Komander, but Johnson clearly learned a bunch watching that bout. Johnson and his pal EJ Nduka have been making waves in ROH the last couple of months, so we’ll see if the big man is a factor here as well. Komander is entering his 4th title defense and 3rd in just the last five weeks.

There was an extended feeling out process between the two but once they got into it, it was a fast-paced affair. Johnson and Komander nodded in respect after a particularly crowd-pleasing exchange. Then Johnson punched him in the face. So Komander did what one does and hit him back.

Komander literally bounced off the ropes about six times to deliver a high chop to Johnson, sending him out of the ring. Nduka lurked, but did not interfere as Komander threw Johnson back in and executed a sunset bomb. That brought Nduka up onto the apron (the hardest part of Nduka!) to cause a distraction while Johnson got a hit from behind on Komander.

Johnson whipped Komander into the corner, where he punched him in the face repeatedly. Then he sent him to the outside, where the Ref caught Nduka creepin’ and threatened to eject him. Johnson brought Komander back into the ring for a prolonged headlock, slowing down the pace.

Komander battled back but he collided with Johnson on the ring apron (the most collision prone part of the ring!). Komander hit a hurricanrana driver through the ropes (yeah, read that again) and planted Johnson in the ring. The two exchanged chops with Komander hitting a springboard slam to wrap it up.

Komander countered a buckle-bomb into a hurricanrana, but Johnso hit him with a huge dropkick, spinning Komander around in the air. Komander reveresed another powerbomb into a poison-rana this time, but still only a two-count. Johnson landed a brainbuster on the outside, leaving both men struggling to meet the 20 count.

Komander hurriedly unlaced his boot to avoid a sprained ankle and delivered a hige kick to Johnson’s head. Johnson recovered and worked Komander’s ankle once the boot was off. Johnson went up for a frog splash, landing it perfectly, but only getting a two count. He followed that up with a fisherman’s brainbuster for another two.

It came down to who was going to be able to hit their signature move first, with neither man giving the other the opportunity. A One-shoed Komander went up top for his Celindo finisher and manged to get it, bum ankle and all. 1-2-3 and the title stayed with the luchadore in a killer match!

Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) defeated Fly Def (Warren J & Zack Zilla)

Gates of Agony have been tearing through the ROH Competition, geting wins over Vance & Garrison, LEEJ and the deadly Terry Yaki and Jay Lucas. They face a similar level of competition here against Fly Def (aka Top Team). It’s kind of amazing really that Zilla and J would be a team with not one, but two horrible names. Either way, it probably won’t help much against the terrifying Liona and Kaun.

Gates didn’t even wait until the bell had rung to decimate J and Zilla. Once it did ring, they just took turns hitting extremely hard moves on Zilla and J, finishing by using their opponents as weapons and crushing them for a very light pin.

Dark Panther, Fuego & ROH World Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara defeated Barbaro Cavernario, Hechicero & Soberano Jr.

Contested under “Luchadore Rules”, this CMLL spotlight match had everyone stoked! Guevara has had his Championhip Belt stolen by the MxM Collection twice now, once on ROH and once at AEW/ROH Global Wars. Hopefully he’ll still have the focus in this match featuring some of CMLL’s top talent. Fuego was making his Ring of Honor debut, but Dark Panther has a little ROH experience to his credit, participating in the 2016 Survival of the Fittest Tournament. As for their opponents, Cavernario, Hechicero and Soberano all took part in the ROH SUMMER SUPERCARD event in August 2019.

So now you know all that.

MxM Collection perched at the top of the ring to tease Guevara about his belt in their posession. This must have been very confusing the other five men in the match. Fuego started things off, running quickly through his three opponents. That brought in Panther and Guevara and all hell broke loose. At this point, it was virtually impossible to tell who was legal and who wasn’t.

Cavernario(a literal cave man) dragged Guevara into the oppposite corner. There he was triple teamed while MxM laughed at the top of the ring. Here, I also noticed that MxM had pasted pictures of themselves on the tag title belt. Classic.

Back in the ring, Fuego was legal and also alone in the ring against Soberano, Hechicero and Cavernario. Dark Panther made the save, but found himself in a similar triple team situation. A triple face buster and triple surboard left him wrecked, but there was no one to tag in his corner. The ref did not seem to care that it had been 3-on-1 for almost the whole match.

Panther landed a series of backbreakers and Guevara and Hechicero faced off in the ring. Guevara reminded everyone just how good his is, hanging with the luchadores at every step. The MxM Collection creeped closer to the ring as Sammy hit a big flip. Cavernario splatted a huge flapjack onto Gueveara who slid under the ropes, allowing Fuego to be able to slip in as legal (luchadore rules, look it up).

Fuego and Hechicero had a wild exchange full of sentons and flips that the crowd ate up. Soberano found himself on the top rope and hit a huge splash on Panther. he tried it again, but Panther dodged it, ending up outside where Cavernario hit a frog spash from the ringpost.

Guevara and Hechicero were left alone in the ring to exchange knees and slams. Guevara got him up for a GTH, but Mansoor hit Guevara in the back with his own belt. Fuego jumped in to take over, landing himself in Hechicero’s trap submission move, kind of a rolling head-leg-lock. Fuego used it to roll the reversal and get the pin.

After the match, MxM tried to take out Guevara, but Fuego and Panther came to his rescue and Guevara hit a GTH on Mansoor while Madden ran away, in hilarious fashion.

(Get it? Fashion? Ok, I’ll go now…)

AEW/ROH Global Wars results: Three title defenses from Australia

For the first time since September 2019, the Ring of Honor brand (under the AEW banner) held a Global Wars event, taped before this past Saturday’s AEW Grand Slam Australia.

Unlike in 2019, this was a supershow that can best be described in today’s lingo as “Forbidden Door-esque” — a special edition of ROH on HonorClub where two outsiders attempted to walk away with ROH silver.

**********

Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman were wearing their invisibility cloaks at ringside.

Bandido & Los Outrunners defeated The Learning Tree (Chris Jericho, Big Bill & Bryan Keith)

Los Outrunners caused video distortion in their entrance to reminds us of the 1980s. Bill specifically was upset, saying they had a contract against The Outrunners and not Los Outrunners. Jericho did not follow the Code of Honor and, instead, waved at Bandido followed by a second attempt that led to Jericho flipping him off, Bandido kicking Jericho, and the match commencing.

Bandido and Keith really got the match started here with Bandido getting the best of it. Jericho got in and Bandido got the best of him too. El Truth got in and Jericho managed to knock his mask off. However, thankfully, Truth got the mask back and put it back on. You know, it’s impolite to take a luchador’s mask off. Bill was super over as Jericho tagged him in to square off with El Turbo. Turbo took hold of Bill’s hand in a wrist lock and walked the top rope around the ring. Jericho and Keith were setting up to yank him off, but Bandido and Truth ran over and yanked them down.

After completing his lap around the ring, Turbo celebrated to the crowd before Bill took his head off with a clothesline. Keith tried taking Turbo’s mask off but that would be a disqualification, so referee Aubrey Edwards stopped him. Bandido got the hot tag and ran wild, including press slamming Jericho onto Keith. As much as the fans liked that, they liked Big Bill taking him out even more.

The match led to Jericho getting the Liontamer on Bandido, but the former ROh World Champion got away from the current champion. Jericho tried to hit Bandido with the title belt but missed. Los Outrunners grabbed the belt from him and Bandido pinned Jericho with the 21-Plex.

After the match, the Learning Tree attacked the victors and Jericho hit Bandido with a chair. Before he could do it again, out ran Powerhouse Hobbs to clear the ring of the minions. Jericho hit Hobbs with a chair in the back, but Hobbs no-sold it, knocked the chair out of Jericho’s hands and then threw him down. Bill got in and they went face-to-chest before Bill walked off.

I know we just set up Jericho vs. Bandido, but it’s weird that the champion was a setup man for Hobbs to set up a match with Bill.

– Athena was backstage and reminded us that she is the Forever ROH Champion and said she is soon to be the world dominator. Tonight, Alex Windsor has invited herself in to get a title shot. Athena thinks that’s so wonderful, but this is a lesson for all the minions. She is underappreciated, overlooked, and is the best champion in all of wrestling.

ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty defeated IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Robbie Eagles to retain

The fans (jokingly) booed the rules being announced. Nigel McGuinness, Christopher Daniels and Jerry Lynn were announced as the judges, but they were watching from the production truck.

In the first minute of the match, Eagles, one half of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, went for a figure four and Moriarty scooted to the ropes for his first break. Moriarty was in a hammerlock and teased going into the ropes but instead stomped on Eagles’ foot. They ran near the referee which caused him to cover up. In the confusion, Moriarty punched the TMDK member with a closed fist. When the referee turned back around, Eagles punched Moriarty, earning a warning.

Moriarty slapped on a Border City Stretch and Eagles got the ropes for his first break. A minute later, after a bow & arrow, Moriarty transitioned into another submission attempt and Eagles got the ropes. That was almost immediately followed up by Eagles getting on a heel hook that forced Moriarty to get the ropes. So, barely five minutes into the match, both men were down to just one rope break.

Moriarty got on the Border City Stretch and you could see him debate whether or not to get the ropes, but he had to use his last break. Eagles came right back with a missile dropkick and another leg hold, which made Moriarty use his last break.

Eagles got a bunch of nearfalls, including from the Turbo Backpack. He used 4.5 on Moriarty’s leg, which was hurt earlier, but Moriarty bounced back and won with a schoolboy while holding the ropes — technically legal since neither man had rope breaks left.

This was a really good match, but I know I am not the only one who was hoping Eagles would win the belt.

Mark Davis pinned Tommy Knight

Despite being the newest member of the Don Callis Family, Davis was a babyface here and the crowd loved seeing him. This was a hoss battle as Knight is listed as 6’2″ 323 pounds, and looked every ounce.

We had a chop battle where unfortunately for Knight, not only did Davis shrug off them off but Davis had stiffer chops. Davis did the facewash with his fist instead of a running boot. Knight hit a Spicolli Driver, but only got a one count. Davis won with a Pendulum piledriver.

– Lexy Nair was with Alex Windsor, who said tonight was not the first time she’s wrestled tougher competition and if Athena underestimates her, let her, but we could be seeing the new ROH Women’s Champion as a result.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Sons Of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) defeated MxM Collection (Mansoor & Madden) to retain

Two weeks ago on HonorClub, MxM Collection stole Guevara’s title belt. Now all blinged out, MxM tries to win it legitimately in the first ever ROH Tag Team title match in Australia. Is there Honor among thieves?

Mason and Mansoor decorated the stolen tag belt with bedazzled jewels and pictures of themselves. Mansoor followed the Code Of Honor with Dustin, but only wanted the tips, not a full handshake.

Mansoor took an arm drag, kipped up and then challenged Rhodes to do the same. He didn’t take the arm drag or the challenge as he tagged out to Guevara which the crowd booed. He then tagged right back out, but this time Rhodes went down, but Mansoor went for an elbow drop, Rhodes rolled out of the way and the match was on. MxM teased doing a dive, but just bounced off the ropes. Rhodes then teased doing a dive, but angered MxM by stopping, doing a Spinnerooni and posing.

Guevara did a top rope 450 from the top rope to the floor. Inside the ring, MxM cut off Rhodes for the heat, working the lower back. Mason attacked his face with his butt and then MxM danced and bounced his head between their hips. Finally, Mansoor missed the top rope elbow and Rhodes made the hot tag. Guevara hit a dive to Mansoor and then gave a shoutout to his daughter. A four-way broke out and Mason used a spinning sidewalk slam for a near fall. They went for the Centerfold, but Rhodes broke that up and hit a Canadian Destroyer on Mansoor.

Mason accidentally distracted the referee so Rhodes could hit Golden Globes followed by him knocking Mason’s head into Mansoor’s groin. Guevara used a GTH on Mason and pinned Mansoor after a senton.

The referee went to give Guevara his title back, but Mason ran in, stole it, and ran away with it. This was a fun house show match.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena defeated Alex Windsor to retain

Momo Watanabe shockingly stuck around after Grand Slam and sat ringside for this match as well. If you’re not familiar with Windsor, she was once upon a time the longest Rev Pro British Women’s Champion in history. Now, she has a chance to make more history as she challenges Athena on day 800 of her reign.

Billie Starkz was not here tonight due to Athena being disappointed in her performance on the Jericho Cruise, leading to her actually ripping up Starkz’s $2200 plane ticket. Athena hit the first big move of the match as after Windsor was dropped in the corner of the ring, using a baseball slide to knock her off the apron and onto the pretty grey mats followed by a spinebuster into the apron. In the ring, Windsor ran through Athena’s clothesline and hit one of her own. They took turns running the ropes but being stopped by a strike from the other. Athena went for a springboard crossbody, but got caught and dropped with the S.O.S. Slam.

Windsor got on the sharpshooter, but the problem was no one thought Athena was gonna lose the title here, so the crowd didn’t really get into it and Athena got out of it. Athena tried picking Windsor up, but Windsor tried backdropping out. However, Athena bounced back into position and hit a move that went from a power bomb into knees to the face. Windsor used a spinning fisherman’s buster from the middle rope, but Athena came back, used a shotgun dropkick and an O-Face for the win to remain YOUR forever ROH Women’s World Champion.

Final Thoughts:

This was an excellent example of what they should do with ROH. The weekly show is full of contracted ROH wrestler vs. local guy matches but there’s no effort put into making the matches special or stand out at all. On this show, you had two non-ROH wrestlers battling for championships and a third put in a position to look good against a contracted wrestler. Instead of just doing an hour of squash matches with two competitive matches bookending things, give us a reason to bite onto why the wrestler already in the ring has this opportunity before they get squashed and beaten in two minutes.

AEW announces TV title match, CMLL stars for ROH taping

AEW has booked a couple of new matches for this weekend’s event in Texas.

With Collision taking place in the Houston area this Saturday, AEW sent out a Spanish-language announcement today advertising two ROH taping matches for that night. ROH Television Champion Komander is putting his title on the line against Lee Johnson. Plus, there will be a trios match involving five CMLL stars. It will be Sammy Guevara, Fuego & Dark Panther vs. Hechicero, Barbaro Cavernario & Soberano Jr.

Komander has been ROH TV Champion since winning the belt at Final Battle in December 2024. Johnson earned this title shot by going to a 10-minute time limit draw against Komander in a Proving Ground match on ROH TV last week.

Fort Bend County Epicenter in Rosenberg, Texas is the venue for Saturday’s event. Here is everything that has been announced:

AEW Collision (Saturday, February 8) —

  • Harley Cameron concert
  • Bandido vs. Bryan Keith
  • Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe
  • Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford
  • Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong vs. Shane Taylor & The Infantry (Carlie Bravo and Shawn Dean) vs. Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker

ROH taping —

  • ROH TV Champion Komander defends against Lee Johnson
  • Sammy Guevara, Fuego & Dark Panther vs. Hechicero, Barbaro Cavernario & Soberano Jr.

There were also three ROH matches taped at AEW Dynamite last night. Spoilers can be found here.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Women’s TV title defense

Ring of Honor Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet will look for her fifth defense on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.

Velvet will defend against Leila Grey who earned the shot by virtue of a single win on last week’s show.

Men’s TV Champion Komander will take on Lee Johnson in a Proving Ground bout where if Johnson can draw or beat Komander, he earns a future title shot.

Blake Christian will attempt to win his fifth straight ROH singles match as he battles Dark Order’s Evil Uno.

ROH Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara will go one-on-one with Aaron Solo while Serpentico wrestles Brandon Cutler.

Queen Aminata vs. Allysin Kay rounds out the lineup.

*********

A new Thursday means a new episode of ROH on HonorClub! The Men’s and Women’s TV Titles will be in action tonight, so clearly ROH is TV ready!

Sammy Guevara defeated Aaron Solo

Guevara is currently one-half of the ROH Tag Champions, the Sons of Texas with Dustin Rhodes. They just successfully defended the titles at Wrestle Dynasty in Japan, so one can assume that Guevara is taking this singles match because Rhodes is jet lagged. Solo has the distinction of recently losing to 57 year old former Taylor Swift employer Jeff Jarrett on Collision. I don’t know who that’s more embarrassing for. Solo for losing, or AEW for still putting on Jarrett matches in the year of our Lord 2025.

Solo rejected a Code of Honor from Guevara off the top as the two locked up. These guys both trade on speed and agility, so the slower, more punchy start was a surprise. Guevara sent Solo to the outside and pulled some tricks from 1995 HBK’s bag and did some suggestive posing while Solo recovered.

Guevara went for a spingboard off the top rope, but Solo had it scouted and shook him off. Solo stomped Guevara in the corner and then a tight chinlock. Guevara fought back though, delivering the first chops of the night followed by a crossbody.

The match sped up here with Guevara and Solo each dodging some high impact moves. Guevara managed to land a kick to Solo’s spine, but it only got a two count. Guevara got Solo up in a Torture Rack, but Solo wiggled out, sending Guevara up the ramp.

The two battled their way back to the ring, where Solo climbed up to the top rope and delivered a double stomp. Guevara fought back with a cutter and delivered a GTH to pick up the pin and victory.

Queen Aminata defeated Allysin Kay

Aminata is kicking 2025 off right. She’s 3-1 in this new(ish) year and had a run to end last year that featured a string of wins ( what we call pulling a “Reverse-Brandon Cutler”) over the likes of Leila Grey, Harley Cameron and a really tough bout against Lady Frost. Kay has been in and out of ROH a lot, but has not managed to score a win since 2021 when she beat Willow Nightingale in the first round of a Women’s World Championship Tournament, eventually won by Rok-C.

Aminata showed no respect to the veteran Kay, rubbing her face in it off the top (“it” would be her derriere). Aminata sent Kay into the corner and climbed up for exactly 10 punches to the head. Kay barrelled back though, knocking Aminata into the opposite corner for a splash.

Kay laid the lumber on Aminata, wrapping her up in the ropes with a chinlock. Kay tied up Animata in a submission move in the center of the ring, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Queen down. The two traded fists with Aminata coming out on top. She laid out Kay with a huge knee to the face and dragged her back to the center of the ring, but only got a two count. Once back on their feet, Aminata gave Kay a big headbutt, knocking her clean out, leading to Aminata getting the victory.

ROH World Television Title Proving Ground Match: Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) [c] vs. Lee Johnson (w/EJ Nduka) – Time Limit Draw (10:00)

This match was made last week and features two very different ringside enforcers. Abrahantes is there to hype up Komander and EJ Nduka is there to forcibly murder anyone who gets in front of him. As always in a Proving Ground match, the challenger must pin, submit or last the 10 minute time limit to secure a shot at the title in question. The last Proving Ground match Komander had featured QT Marshall getting a rare Proving Ground challenger win by drawing out the match to the time limit. Komander retained his title in the match that followed.

Komander had his hands full with Johnson, who kicked away the Code of Honor. The two locked up and Johnson took Komander to the ground. Komander tried to catch Johnson in a submission hold, but Johnson started to break away from Komander, killing time like QT Marshall did a few weeks ago.

Johnson dragged Komander to the mat with a headlock, but Komander broke it and Johnson returned to grinding the match down to the slowest pace possible. Komander send Johnson to the outside and wanted to hit a dive through the ropes, but a large wall named Nduka was standing there, causing Komander to pull up. Johnson snuck in and attacked Komander from behind, sending him out of the ring.

After a few shots against the barricade, Johnson pulled Komander back into the ring. He taunted the champion, pushing him with his foot in a condescending manner. Johnson tried a superplex as the time ticked away. Komander dodged it and hit a big facebuster on Johnson, but seemed to knock the wind out of himself in the process.

Johnson hit a big driver out of nowhere, but it wasn’t enough to put Komander away. Johnson tried a powerbomb, but Komander put in a kick to the head. Komander favoured his ribs as he climbed to the top rope where Johnson grabbed him. Komander quickly hit a sunset bomb but it wasn’t enough to put Johnson away as a one-minute warning was delivered.

Komander tried desperately to put Johnson down, but his ribs slowed him down. Nduka pulled Johnson out of the ring while Komander writhed until the bell rang! Johnson lasted the 10 minutes so the match ended in a draw, but Johnson still gets the title shot.

Serpentico defeated Brandon Cutler

We last saw Serpentico around the beginning of the month as 1/8th of a 4v4 tag match that his team was on the losing end of. Serpentico’s normal partner in the Spanish Announce Project, Angelico, has been out with a knee injury but rumor has it he’s almost completed his “knee-hab.” The last time Cutler won a televised match in ROH was a tag match in March of 2024. Since then, he’s chalked up losses to the likes of Preston Vance, Rocky Romero, Katsuyori Shibata, Jacoby Watts (Watts? Really?) and now maybe Serpentico. If you’re collecting high-profile losses, that’s not a bad list.

Cutler and Serpentico first faced off in a battle of the silly outfits. Serpentico won that with a cool new mask, vest and… codpiece? All of which were very shiny. The two locked up with Serpentico sending Cutler to the mat. Cutler responded with a hurricanrana, but Serpentico fought back then they flew around the ring.

Serpentico hit a statue senton (aka he fell over) onto Cutler, but it only got a two-count. Cutler went for a big move off the top rope, but Serpentico sidestepped it and Cutler fell flat on his face. Serpentico sent Cutler to the corner and veeeery slowly unzipped his jacket to chop Cutler on bare chest.

Cutler battled back and hit a double stomp from the top rope followed by a big pumphandle slam. Cutler tried to get Serpentico in a big spin, but it slithered out and hit a big driver. Serpentico went to the top rope and hit a huge frog splash to get the pin and victory.

ROH Classic Match: ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe vs Tony Deppen (ROH on Honorclub Episode #2, Feb 25, 2023)

This week’s Classic Content was Samoa Joe beating the everloving heck out of Tony Deppen. The match happened way back on episode 2 of ROH on Honorclub. Samoa Joe was the TV Champion at the time and was taking on all comers. Lots of big punishing blows, but was largely a squash. Still I’d watch Joe squash people any day, and this was a good one.

-Backstage, the Infantry cut a promo about their new attitudes. The Infantry put the whole company on notice that they will be double stomping anyone and everyone. That was about it.

Blake Christian defeated Evil Uno (w/Alex Reynolds & John Silver)

Since coming within a hair of winning the ROH TV Title at Final Battle 2024, Christian has been showing an aggressive attitude as he makes the rounds in ROH. He’s completed the trifecta of beating Parker Li, Serpentic and AR Fox and looks to add Evil Uno to the list. Uno for his part, brought Reynolds and Silver with him for some top-shelf posing and jacket wearing. It’s hard to say what’s going on with the Dark Order these days, but for this match they seem like they are on the same dark page.

Continuing the trend of the night, Christian shook off a Code of Honor and the two locked up. Uno was not impressed with Christian’s new attitude and shoved him into the corner. Christian literally flipped out of the ring, mocking a clearly annoyed Uno on the outside.

Christian jumped back in and sent Uno to the ropes. Uno responded but punching him in the face very hard. Christian slid out again this time Uno followed, levelling a prone Christian with a shoulder in front of the commentary desk.

Back in the ring, Uno delivered 10 big forearms in the corner. Christian dodged a slam and double stomped Uno’s arm from the top rope. Christian continued working the arm, removing Uno’s strength advantage. Christian then hit a suicide dive INTO the ring from the raised ramp and levelled Uno.

The two traded blows in the middle of the ring, Uno winning the battle in spite of his damaged arm. Uno hit a DDT followed by a brainbuster, but it only got him a two count. Christian climbed to the top rope for a big frog splash, but Uno kicked out at two.

Uno hit a huge back elbow followed by a piledriver, but couldn’t put Christian away. Uno dragged Christian to the top rope, but Christian messed with his mask and managed to hit a huge 450 on Uno while he was fixing it. Christian delivered some knees to the head and finally scored a three count, winning the match.

-It was announced that ROH Women’s World Champion Athena would return to ROH next week!

ROH Women’s World Television Title Match: Red Velvet (c) defeated Leila Grey

Top Flight’s Grey picked up a win last week over Marti Belle that put her in contention for a shot at the ROH Women’s World TV Title apparently. This is not a criticism though, as Velvet has been grinding through opponents and seeing her and Grey mix it up (in or out of Mama’s Kitchen) sounds like something that everyone can get behind.

The two locked up off the top with Grey sending Velvet to the ropes. After a quick rest, Velvet burst back with some stiff shots. Grey didn’t flinch though, slamming Velvet and hitting a senton. Grey picked apart Velvet with a series of quick strikes, causing Velvet to roll out of the ring to get herself in order.

Grey made the mistake of following her outside, where Velvet grabbed her and drove her lower back into the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!). Velvet re-entered the ring, leaving Grey writhing on the outside. Velvet went for a chop against the barricade, but Grey dodged it and threw about a dozen of her own.

Back in the ring, Velvet used her boxing background to pepper Grey with shots. She followed that up with a meteora to the back of the head, leaving Grey dazed. Velvet locked in a full nelson, but Grey elbowed her way free. Velvet changed tactics and hit side slam into a chin lock, wearing Grey down.

Grey tried a quick rollup, but Velvet kicked out. Grey hit a bulldog and a dragon sleeper on Velvet got her foot on the ropes to break the hold. Velvet fought out and sent Grey into the corner. Grey hit a couple of elbows followed by a block buster, but Velvet kicked out a two.

Velvet managed to catch Grey off the ropes and spun her into a Mama’s Kitchen. Velvet pinned Grey and got the 1-2-3 to end a perfectly cromulent night of wrestling!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Sammy Guevara, Katsuyori Shibata in action

This week’s Ring of Honor on HonorClub will feature a smorgasbord of talent and several key matches as December’s Final Battle begins to form.

ROH Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara will be in singles action against Preston Vance. The assumed next challengers to Guevara and Dustin Rhodes’ titles — The Righteous — will also be in action.

In what should be a hard-hitting bout, former ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will battle The Butcher.

ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will hold an emergency meeting of her minions following last week’s title defense over Abadon.

AR Fox will take on former Pure Champion Josh Woods while past title challenger Diamante goes heads-up with Rachael Ellering.

After pinning Chris Jericho on Wednesday, Tomohiro Ishii continues his march toward an ROH World title match as he faces Aaron Solo.

The rest of the card is rounded out by The Infantry, the returning Leyla Hirsch, Angelico & Serpentico, Lee Johnson & EJ Nduka, and The Patriarchy’s Nick Wayne.

**********

With absolutely nothing of interest or importance happening in any part of the USA, all eyes were fixed firmly on Ring of Honor on Honorclub Episode 89!

The Infantry (Carlie Bravo & Shawn Dean) (w/Lee Moriarty & Shane Taylor) defeated Tom Mitchell & Trace Parker

Last week, the Infantry shocked everyone by signing up with Shane Taylor Promotions. This immediately helped them get a somewhat shady win over Spanish Announce Project, which possibly signalled a heel turn for the group. This week, they have significantly less imposing foes in Mitchell and Parker who… well, they were there.

Bravo started off against Parker, taking the greener wrestler to the woodshed quickly. The Infantry’s newfound agression was on full display as Dean grabbed Parker from the outside, choking him behind the ref’s back. Taylor was very pleased by this. Mitchell jumped in to help his partner and ate a Boot Camp but Parker was the legal man, so the Infantry gave him a “Two To The Head” to pin him. Mitchell never legally entered the match.

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) defeated LSG & Shawn Donavan

As mentioned, last week Serpentico and Angelico lost in dubious fashion to The Infantry. It’s cool though, and the laid-back duo looked to right the ship with a win over the first-time pair, LSG and Donavan. LSG has been popping up this year as part of the horribly-named Ace of Space Academy, but professional Dax Harwood impersonator Donavan hasn’t been seen in ROH in over 5 years.

It was beef vs bean (string bean that is) as Angelico and Donavan kicked things off. The shorter Donavan had the density of a dying sun, so Angelico wasn’t able to get him off his feet, allowing him to lock in the longest wrist lock I’ve ever seen. Donavan was so dialed in, Serpentico had to break it up from the top rope.

From there, the tandem offence of SAP was the story. They were able to keep both Donavan and LSG on their heels and making sloppy mistakes. LSG and Donavan got some decent work in against Serpentico, but Serpentico’s speed was able to deke them out and bring in Angelico.

Even though his partner is Serpentico, Angelico might be part snake the way he was able to slide and slither around LSG. He locked him into a crazy hammerlock/abdominal stretch/airplane spin that caused him to tap out.

-ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty cut a promo from backstage. He called out Matt Taven, who had entered the Pure Division for the first time last week, in advance of their inevitable PURE Championship match in the future. Spoiler: Moriarty does not think Taven will win.

Sammy Guevara (w/Dustin Rhodes) defeated Preston Vance

Last week, Guevara and Rhodes, the reigning ROH Tag Champions were called out, confronted and then jumped by The Righteous, Vincent and Dutch. They are looking to take those titles and being The Righteous, they don’t care if they do it in a strictly “legal” way. But it remained to be seen if they would cause some chaos in Guevara’s match with Vance.

Guevara gave up a bit to Vance in terms of muscle, but right off the top Guevara’s speed had him in control. That speed came back to bite him though as Vance caught him with a back elbow while he was running the ropes. That didn’t slow Guevara down though as he took Vance to the outside a drove him in to the guardrails, while Rhodes watched diligently for any sign of The Righteous.

As much fun as it was watching a guy named Vance get punched in the face, it came to an end when Guevara hit a big cutter followed by a GTH for the win. Rhodes joined him in the ring, still standing guard with a steel chair. Suddenly, the lights got all weird and the sound of snapping was heard. Vincent and Dutch were nowhere to be found though.

EJ Nduka & Lee Johnson defeated The Philly Marino Experience (Marino Tenaglia & Philly Collins)

Now that Nduka and Johnson have officially joined forces, it’s gotta make a lot of other teams in ROH nervous. Especially The Philly Marino Experience (which sounds like a hip new Tapas spot, by the way) who were making what appears to be their ROH Debut. Excellent way to do it, I’m sure it’ll work out great for them.

[Ron Howard Voice]: It did not.

Johnson started the match against Tenaglia which was a nice matchup in terms of size and speed. Johnson’s experience gave him the advantage though and he was able to keep Tenaglia off his feet and firmly in a chin lock.

Nduka then tagged in and to his credit, Tenaglia didn’t burst into terrified tears. He took a swing ot two and Nduka picked him up like a loaf of bread and threw him across the ring. Several times in fact. Collins tagged in and even though he had a bit more size, didn’t fare much better. Nduka kicked, punched and threw both of them around with ease.

Johnson tagged back in and hit a frog splash, pinning what was left of Collins to get the win. These guys are fun to watch, but Nduka needs to expand his move set a bit just to keep things interesting.

-ROH Women’s Champion Athena called an emergency MEM (Minion Empowerment Meeting) in the back. Athena managed to barely hold onto her title against Abadon last week, so she has some things to say to her MiT’s (Minions In Training). Athena said the she is ready to take on porcelain hussies all around the world. Suddenly, Billie Starkz appeared. While Lexy Nair has been loyal to the Forever Champion, Starkz has been pretty moody and uninterested in helping the champion out. Athena left in a huff, leaving Nair to deal with Starkz. Nair put Starkz in Minion Time Out and walked out after the champ.

Diamante defeated Rachael Ellering

Ellering has been trading fashion tips with Harley Cameron and this match is her return to the ROH ring for the first time since August. Ellering’s Tag Team Partner, Leyla Hirsch has had beef with Diamante for a long, violent time. Speaking of which, Diamante failed to capture the ROH Women’s TV Title a few weeks back, but did pick up a win last week against Aminah Belmont.

Diamante had the adventage off the top because though she be wee, she be very, very strong. Ellering was able to hold her own though, as well as hold Diamante by the waist in a gut wrench suplex. Ellering tried a senton, but telegraphed it and Diamante was ready with knees up. Diamante’s mean streak was on display as the dragged Ellering’s face along the rope between turnbuckles.

Ellering caught Diamante with a huge back elbow and landed her Squish senton, but Diamante wasn’t done yet. She raked the eyes while the ref couldn’t see and landed a huge DDT to make Ellering’s night a bad one. Afterwards, Diamante called out ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet who appeared in the ring and hit her with a big spinning kick. Diamante retreated up the ramp while the two debated the places they were from.

Leyla Hirsch defeated Tina San Antonio

Leyla Hirsch is back! Hirsch’s last match was the excellent Texas Death Match against Diamante at Death Before Dishonor back in July. Hirsch won that match, but injury put her on the shelf for a bit. Now that she’s back, will she still have trouble with Diamante? Or will she start the climb towards a bigger prize, namely ROH Women’s Champion, Athena? And will San Antonio get a surprise upset in her ROH Debut? So many questions, so much time to answer them.

HIrsch looked good off the top. She wrestles a fast, technical style and it looked like her injury hadn’t cost her a step. San Antonio had a bit of a height advantage, but Hirsch was fired up and managed get out of everything San Antonio threw at her.

Hirsch managed to catch San Antonio with a huge knee to the head and get the pin to win, looking like she had never left in the first place.

-Backstage, Matt Taven responded to Lee Moriarty’s earlier promo. Taven has won every title in ROH except the Pure title. So Moriarty better be ready because Taven’s bringing it home to the Kingdom.

Tomohiro Ishii defeated Aaron Solo

Ishii, a proud member of the Conglomeration, stomped down to the ring to face former Nightmare Family member Solo. Presumably, Ishii would then stomp on Solo, and stomp back to the locker room. The man likes to stomp. Solo has not won a match in ROH since April. So this will work out fine for him, I’m sure.

It almost seemed mean to put Solo up against Ishii. Solo, tall and thin, had very little defence against the sheer strength and power of Ishii. Every punch and attempt to send Ishii to the ropes was shrugged off, frustrating Solo. Ishii unleashed the chops and Solo was lucky his lungs didn’t pop out.

Ishii tried to pin Solo off of a side suplex, but Solo, a glutton for punishment, kicked out at two. Solo tried to take the match to the air with a big double stomp from the top rope, but took too long to pin Ishii, who crushed him with a big lariat. Ishii got Solo up and then brought him down with a big Brainbuster and got the pin.

-The Righteous headed out to the ring for a match and were immediately jumped by Rhodes and Guevara in payback for the attack by Vincent and Dutch last week. Security came down to break up the melee, but Dutch got busted open in the process. Everyone seemed to forget that there was a match scheduled and the ROH Tag Champs, Rhodes and Guevara stood tall as the Righteous exited up the ramp.

Nick Wayne (w/Kip Sabian & Mother Wayne) defeated Ryan Clancy

Wayne has been making some noise for The Patriarchy in ROH recently, this time bringing Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian with him. A couple of weeks ago Wayne came out on top in a match against Brian Cook. This week, he’s up against (checks notes) “Fancy” Ryan Clancy, who is (checks notes again) a wrestler.

Clancy ended up being a pretty decent bruiser, wrestling a “classic” style and keeping up with Wayne in both speed and intensity. Wayne had him beat in the posing department though, hands down.

After a very impressive flurry of Clancy offence, Wayne picket up speed with a series of near falls. Clancy responded with a few near falls of his own, making it seem like an upset was close. Wayne kicked out every time though while Mother Wayne looked on.

Clancy climbed to the top rope, but Wayne pushed the Ref into the ropes causing him to fall. Wayne hit a dragon suplex followed by a huge cutter from the corner to get the win.

-The Infantry and STP entered the ROH locker room backstage. They were met byt 4 NPC’s dressed in black. Taylor asked if they had seen Rhodes and Guevera. When no one had, The Infantry and STP beat up the men. Taylor then called out the ROH Tag Champs, saying that STP wants those titles back. Guevara and Rhodes have several targets on their backs now.

ROH Classic Match: ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title Match: Shane Taylor Promotions (Kaun, Moses & Shane Taylor) vs MexiSquad (Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus)(c) (Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Feb 19, 2021)

With Taylor and company hunting down the Tag and Six Man Tag belts in ROH, it made sense to see this classic match from the Pandemic era of pro wrestling and, well, life. Maria Kanellis joined the commentary team for this match and she added some really fun color. It was a hard-hitting affair and definitely worth 9 minutes of your time.

AR Fox defeated Josh Woods (w/Ariya Daivari & Mark Sterling)

Fox got his first ROH singles win three weeks ago against the one and only Jack Cartwheel. He’s looking to add to those stats against the Premier Athlete and Very Large Dude, Woods. Not that he needs the help, but Wood’s teammates Daiavari and Sterling accompanied him to the ring, while Tony Nese is still out relentlessly celebrating the birth of his twins.

Sterling added “flogging our new shirt” to his opening schtick as the Athletes came down to the ring. Fox, in what can only be assumed was a move of protest, came down to the ring with no shirt on at all. Woods and Fox stood at about the same height, but Woods had the upper pectoral in the muscle department.

Woods tried to keep things technical and on the mat where he excels. Fox wasn’t used to that and he seemed confused as to how to proceed. Finally, he settled on a headlock while he figured out his strategy. Fox figured out he had the high-flying advantage and hit a big splash on the outside.

As the match progressed, Fox tried to leap over a running Woods but caught his foot on his opponent and smashed his face into the match. That gave Woods an opening to club a prone Fox. Sterling got involved behind the Ref’s back and hung Fox up on the ropes for Woods to pick apart.

Woods went for a cocky cover, but Fox kicked out and spiked Woods on his head with a big second rope DDT. Fox got his second win and hit a swanton. The fight moved to the outside where Fox drove Wood’s head into the mat. Back in the ring, Fox went for a springboard from the top rope, but hit his face on Woods’ knee on the way down.

Fox tried again, but Woods attempted to knock him off the top rope. The agile Fox rolled through though and hit a 450 splash to pick up the surprise win! Then a wild Nick Wayne appeared and took Fox apart. Fox and Wayne have a match coming up on Collision.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated The Butcher

This match was taped way back in June of this year, but only made it to air now. One can only assume it fell behind a filing cabinet or something. The Butcher was making his ROH Singles debut here while his partner, The Blade, recovers from back fusion surgery. Shibata is, well, The Wrestler. That’s because he’s very good at wrestling and hasn’t lost a match in ROH in 2024.

Butcher had about 50 lbs and 6 inches on Shibata, but see above. Shibata drove him into the corner off the top, leading to Butcher moving into a more technical strategy. It was a big risk taking on one of the best technical wrestlers in the world in his preferred style, but Butcher had a plan. He drew Shibata out of the ring and then drove him into the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!).

Back in the ring, Butcher’s powerful strikes kept Shibata on the ground and Butcher locked in a one-legged crab hold. Shibata wrigged under the ropes to break the hold, and sent Butcher to the corner to take a big double dropkick.

Butcher fought back and tried to set Shibata up for brain buster, but Shibata countered and put on a sleeper hold followed by a big PK to put the Butcher down for good, closing out the show.

Sammy Guevara vs. Shelton Benjamin, Kyle Fletcher promo set for AEW Dynamite

New matches and segments have been added to Dynamite.

Sammy Guevara will be in action this Wednesday, taking on Shelton Benjamin. Guevara said that he wanted to face one of the best, and one of the best had an impressive debut on last week’s Dynamite. He said he had watched Benjamin since he was a kid and asked Tony Khan to book the match between himself and Benjamin.

After defeating Atlantis Jr., Kyle Fletcher on Collision said he would break his silence on Wednesday’s Dynamite regarding what he did to Will Ospreay at last weekend’s WrestleDream. Fletcher turned on his longtime friend by attacking him with a screwdriver, ultimately costing Ospreay the International title.

The House of Black will also be in action. The trio has been building momentum recently, defeating local talent on this week’s episode of Collision.

Here is the updated lineup for Dynamite:

  • ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe defends against Chris Jericho in a Ladder War match
  • The Elite (Young Bucks and Jack Perry) vs. Daniel Garcia & Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy)
  • Sammy Guevara vs. Shelton Benjamin
  • House of Black in action
  • Hook confronts Taz’s attacker(s)
  • We’ll hear from Kyle Fletcher

Sammy Guevara cleared for AEW return following concussion

Sammy Guevara has been medically cleared to return to the ring after suffering a concussion earlier this month.

The injury occurred during a match against Serpentico at the October 2, 2024, ROH tapings in Pittsburg when a mistimed cutter resulted in Serpentico landing on Guevara’s face. Referee Bryce Remsburg immediately stopped the match, and medical personnel stretchered Guevara out of the ring.

Our Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Guevara has been medically cleared to return.

“Sammy Guevara has been cleared,” Meltzer wrote.

Along with Dustin Rhodes, Guevara is one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions. They last wrestled together on the September 21 episode of AEW Collision when they defeated Mike Bennett & Matt Taven in a Bunkhouse Brawl match. Guevara’s last singles match before the concussion was at Grand Slam Collision when he lost a Continental Championship eliminator match to champion Kazuchika Okada.

Sammy Guevara stretchered out of Ring of Honor taping

Sammy Guevara suffered an injury at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite and Ring of Honor taping and was stretchered from the ring.

PWInsider first reported that Guevara was seemingly knocked out in a bout with Serpentico being filmed for future Ring of Honor programming prior to Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Pittsburgh.

Guevara reportedly went for a cutter to counter a top rope attack from Serpentico, but the spot was mistimed and Serpentico landed on Guevara’s face. Bryce Remsburg was the referee for the contest and stopped the match, giving the victory to Serpentico.

Medical staff treated Guevara in the ring, then he was stretchered out.

Dave Meltzer posted that Guevara was believed to have suffered a concussion, but that was not confirmed:

The Guevara injury was one of two at the Ring of Honor taping. PWInsider also reports that independent talent Kelly Madan was knocked unconscious during a match with Lady Frost taped for ROH.

The report states that after Madan was knocked unconscious, the ring ropes were loosened to allow a back board to be brought into the ring, and Madan was also stretchered out.

AEW Collision Grand Slam live results: Continental title eliminator match

AEW will air the Collision portion of their Grand Slam event this Saturday.

Kazchika Okada will face Sammy Guevara in an AEW Continental title eliminator match. Guevara last week on Collision said he hopes to win the match so he could challenge Okada for the title at AEW Dynamite’s fifth anniversary, which takes place this coming Wednesday.

Two title matches will also take place. Jack Perry will defend the TNT title in an open challenge match. Meanwhile, the Trios titles will be defended as Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta will defend against Komander & Private Party.

Other highlights will have Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith square off against Orange Kassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Mark Briscoe in a trios tornado match. Hologram, The Beast Mortos, and Dralistico will meet in a three-way, and Action Andretti will take on Brody King. Jamie Hayter will also face Saraya in a Saraya’s rules match.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 pm ET.

AEW Collision is coming to us live – to tape – from Arthur Ashe Stadium as part of the week-long Grand Slam event. Tony Schiavone, Matt Menard, & Ian Riccaboni were on the call.

Saraya’s Rules Match – Jamie Hayter defeated Saraya (w/ Harley Cameron)

A strong win for Hayter to get her back in the mix after her lengthy injury layoff. Saraya and Harley did well in their role here as stooges to be pinballed around.

Unsurprisingly, Saraya’s Rules stand to benefit Saraya. Essentially, she can use weapons and have ringside help from Cameron, while Hayter cannot. Before the bell rang, Cameron announced the addition of one more rule: the match only starts when Saraya slaps Hayter in the face.

Saraya got her shot in, but Hayter brought her to the corner and laid the boots in to her and Cameron. Cameron grabbed Hayter’s boot, allowing Saraya to drill Hayter with a VCR. Yes folks, a Video Cassette Recorder. Someone had to have brought that from home. Saraya choked Hayter out with the cord from a keyboard, then sent her to the floor where Cameron laid in her shots. Cameron held Hayter up for several cookie sheet shots straight to the head, but Hayter ducked one and took Saraya down with a German suplex.

Hayter ran Cameron into the barricade, but Saraya popped her in the back with a baseball bat. Saraya dumped a bunch of toy cars onto tables set up at ringside before Hayter made her comeback. Cameron tried for another distraction, but Hayter caught a diving Saraya off the apron with a powerslam. Hayter lifted Saraya to the top rope, but Cameron cut Hayter off. Saraya sent both of them off the top rope through the tables with a chair shot.

Hayter kicked out of a cover on the floor, then beat the ten count back into the ring before kicking out of a cradle DDT. It used to be the Rampaige, but she’s not Paige anymore. Saraya went for a piledriver, but Hayter picked her up and sent her through a table with a DVD. Saraya tried to send Hayter into a chair, but Hayter threw her into the chair and hit a Tombstone. Hayter hit the Hayterade lariat for the win.

We got footage of a Renee Paquette-led sit-down interview with Ricochet & Will Ospreay ahead of their International Championship match on Dynamite. Ricochet said that he felt no pressure ahead of their match and was annoyed that he had challengers lined up to take him on before he could even get a look at the landscape of AEW. Ospreay said that Ricochet had forgotten who he was and that the pressure was on him to prove that his “lil’ bro” hadn’t surpassed him.

(The full interview is on AEW’s YouTube, and I highly recommend watching it. This got a good bit of the point across, but the full interview built great tension between the two of them. Every time I see Will Ospreay build a big match like this one, I think that AEW made a mistake in not having him win the World Championship at All In: Wembley. Then I see Bryan Danielson, and I think they made the right decision. This company really has an embarrassment of riches when you think about it.)

Tornado Trios Match – The Learning Tree (Big Bill, Bryan Keith & Chris Jericho) defeated The Conglomeration (Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe & Orange Cassidy)

As always, a fun trios match with the Conglomeration. Big Bill has gotten some spotlight in these matches since the big reaction he got in Cardiff, and he was the pivotal part of this match for his team. Jericho signaling for an ROH World Title match afterward is a point of interest, especially with the conversation surrounding the AEW/WBD television negotiations.

This entire match is going to be a Pier Six brawl. Cassidy blocked a loaded punch with his backpack, then knocked Jericho down with it for a nearfall. The backpack contained a brick, as Cassidy helpfully revealed. Keith cut off Cassidy before taking a Stundog Millionaire and an Ax & Smash combination for his troubles. The Conglomeration cleared the ring and hit a dive train before Jericho cut off Briscoe with an Attitude Adjustment on a chair.

After a commercial, Big Bill ran wild with a big boot to Cassidy and a Bossman Slam to O’Reilly. Briscoe fought at a disadvantage but evaded the offense of the Learning Tree to stay ahead. O’Reilly passed Briscoe a chair for his steel-assisted dive, but Jericho hit a Codebreaker to cut him off. O’Reilly and Cassidy sat Jericho & Keith down in a chair before laying in heavy kicks. Cassidy and O’Reilly teamed up to send Big Bill off the apron into Keith on the floor.

The Conglomeration triple-teamed Jericho, leading to Briscoe finally hitting his steel-assisted dive onto Jericho on the floor. Briscoe pulled out a table and hit a Jay Driller on Jericho. Briscoe laid Jericho on the table and went to the top rope, but Big Bill took Briscoe by the throat and chokeslammed him through the table. Jericho crawled on top of Briscoe for the pin and the win. Former ROH World Champion Jericho made the international sign for “I want a title match” after pinning the current ROH World Champion before Rocky Romero came out to make sure there were no post-match shenanigans.

Brody King defeated Action Andretti

I’m digging this little undercard story of Andretti not being content with his lot in life. Fine fare for the weekend shows.

This match came about after last night’s Rampage when Andretti threw a water bottle at King out of frustration after a loss to the House of Black. Andretti charged King to start and hit a pair of chop blocks to cut King down. Andretti hit the standing shooting star press, but only got a one count. King cut him down, but Andretti squirmed away and kept moving until a forearm knocked him out of the air. King hit a splash and a cannonball for the win.

After the match, Lance Archer & The Righteous attacked Top Flight & Lio Rush, who came out to help their friend Andretti. Andretti hit a dive onto Vincent to help even the score, and officials broke the teams up.

Jack Perry drove his Scapegoat bus through the city of New York ahead of his TNT Title Open Challenge tonight. Perry got to Arthur Ashe Stadium and made his way to the ring for his title defense.

AEW TNT Title Match – Jack Perry (c) defeated Minoru Suzuki by countout to retain

This was as strong of a countout finish as you’ll see. Perry essentially hit his finishing sequence before sliding back into the ring for the win. The match was nothing special, as Suzuki is what he is at age 56.

It’s a Suzuki match in America, I could probably call these at this point. Suzuki no-sold some forearms before he laid Perry out with one, then stretched him with some arm holds as we went to a commercial. After the commercial, Perry hit a neckbreaker for a nearfall after taking advantage during the break.

Suzuki caught a knee before hitting the ropes and snatching on a sleeper hold. Perry fought out of the Gotch-Style Piledriver, but Suzuki caught him with an armbar over the ropes. Suzuki fought with the referee over a chair and snuck a shot in, but Perry knocked Suzuki off the apron with a knee. As the referee counted, Perry hit a DDT off the apron and the Glass Jaw knee into the steel stairs before rolling into the ring and scoring the win via count out.

Perry went to do more damage before Katsuyori Shibata ran him off. Shibata and Suzuki shook hands to end the segment.

AEW World Trios Title Match – Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, & Wheeler Yuta (c) defeated Komander & Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) (w/Alex Abrahantes)

Wheeler Yuta’s interest in being a part of this revamped Blackpool Combat Club was the focus here, and it feels like it will be leading to an elevation down the line. I liked the story over the past few weeks with Private Party & Komander having some guts and stepping to these guys. Didn’t work out for them, but I like their gumption.

Quen clubbered on PAC to start before Castagnoli knocked him down from the apron. Yuta refused to tag as PAC and Castagnoli stomped on Quen. Quen eventually fought his way to the corner and tagged in Kassidy, who ran wild and caught PAC with a pop-up DDT. Castagnoli broke the pin by stomping on Kassidy’s hand. Castagnoli tagged Yuta and put on the Giant Swing, but Yuta refused to hit the dropkick.

Komander came in and ran past Yuta to hit a double jump dive to Castagnoli. Kassidy caught Yuta with a roll-up, but Yuta kicked out and hit a Right Angle Slam. Yuta wrenched at Kassidy’s bad hand before laying in the hammer & anvil shots. Yuta locked on the Cattle Mutilation to win and retain the titles. PAC held the referee back as Yuta held onto the hold after the bell before refusing to allow his partners to raise his hands.

The Outrunners were on Coney Island, cheating to win a carnival game and riding bumper cars.

Three Way Lucha Libre – Hologram defeated The Beast Mortos & Dralistico

This was a fine, if sloppier than usual, lucha showcase. Rush getting together with Mortos and his brother Dralistico can make a good heel unit to challenge the still-undefeated Hologram.

We got a fast-paced start, with several moves getting countered with kip-ups and armdrags before we got a dive train to send us to the break. After the commercial, Dralistico ran wild with a throw into the corner on Hologram before hitting a rana to Mortos, who was stood on the ropes. Hologram took Mortos down with an armdrag and a headscissors before Dralistico took Mortos down with a headscissors from the top rope to the floor. Hologram followed with a rope-walk dive onto Mortos.

Dralistico hit a springboard codebreaker onto Mortos. Mortos hit a pop-up Samoan Drop, with the pin broken up by a Hologram double stomp. Hologram hit a poisonrana on Mortos, with Dralistico following with a springboard crucifix bomb. Mortos came back with a discus lariat, but Dralistico tried to steal the pin, causing problems between them. Mortos hit a powerbomb into the knee on Hologram, with Dralistico following with a springboard move.

There’s a ton happening, but Dralistico caught a lariat meant for Hologram. Hologram dumped Mortos to the floor, then caught Dralistico in a crucifix for the win. After the match, Dralistico and Mortos were shoving each other when Rush came out to cool things out between them. They teamed up to beat on Hologram, then put their fists together to signal the return of La Faccion Ingobernable.

Kris Statlander was backstage with Lexy Nair. She’s frustrated that everyone is talking about the loser of the street fight at All Out. Statlander said that she wouldn’t feel sorry for herself and would call her shot when she saw it.

MxM Collection’s Fashion Show

This is a total WWE/NXT segment that used to make fans wish for an alternative. MxM was a cute act, but this was them jumping the shark for ten minutes. This was taped on Wednesday, so someone had to come up with this awful idea, do it on the show, and watch it again for the edit before considering it fit to air. A failure on multiple fronts, one of the dirt-worst segments in the history of this company, and a genuinely fireable offense. I’ll take a dozen Dark Order beatdowns or Tooth and Nail matches before seeing another one of these.

MxM Collection came out. They mocked Max Caster for calling himself the Best Wrestler Alive – a fair criticism – before kicking off the Grand Slam Fashion Walk. They had several extras come out with wacky clothes and masks with their own faces over them. This is death.

They eventually had someone named Hans under a curtain model Caster’s jacket, which they cut a heart into and re-wrote to say Best Dressed Alive. They had Hans take off the jacket and show off his muscular physique. Hans unmasked to reveal himself to be Billy Gunn, who laid out MxM. The extras helped to lay him out before The Acclaimed made the save and ran them off.

Lumberjack Strap Match – Hangman Page defeated Jeff Jarrett

I was in a sour mood after that MxM garbage, but this match got me back. It took a while to get going, but everyone getting tired of Hangman and relentlessly whipping him was a great peak to the match.

Back to the wrestling. This is a regular match between Page & Jarrett, with lumberjacks armed with leather straps. The lumberjacks are The Dark Order, The Bang Bang Gang, Jay Lethal, & Satnam Singh. They teased going to the floor a couple of times before fighting out of each other’s finishers. Page sent Jarrett to the floor, but it was on the side of his friends Lethal and Singh. Page sent Jarrett to the other side, where the Dark Order and the Bang Bang Gang laid into him with the straps.

Jarrett went for the ten punches, but Page dumped him to the floor where the Gunns whipped him. Page hit a Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. We had a technical difficulty where a commercial wasn’t inserted until they were supposed to come back from the break. Jarrett sent Page to the floor, where he got whipped by the Gunns. Page laid out the lumberjacks then went for the Buckshot on Jarrett before Juice Robinson whipped him.

Page and the lumberjacks got into it until Jarrett hit a dive onto the pile. Page swiped a strap from one of the lumberjacks and whipped Jarrett with it to escape a Stroke attempt. Karen Jarrett had seen enough and went in the ring to save her husband before Page almost whipped her in a rage. The other lumberjacks had seen enough and went to stop Page before he whipped all of them.

Jarrett got his hands on a strap and whipped Page before sending him to the floor to get whipped by everyone, including Satnam Singh and his extra-large whip. It looked like he was hitting Page with a bungee cord. Jarrett held Page in place for Karen to get her shots in, and in the melee, Page snuck in a low blow. Page hit the Deadeye to score the win. After the match, Page singled out Robinson and choked him with the strap before the Gunns ran him off.

AEW Continental Title Eliminator Match – Kazuchika Okada defeated Sammy Guevara

I was very interested in seeing how this match would play out on paper, and it worked out nicely. AEW fans are tired of Guevara, and this particular crowd was tired in general, but Guevara’s work was never the issue with him. A fine main event for this show.

Okada took control early, laying out Guevara with a running dropkick to a seated Guevara. Hangman Page vs. Juice Robinson was announced for Wednesday’s Anniversary edition of Dynamite. Guevara sent Okada to the floor, and after a fake out, hit a Fosbury Flop to Okada on the floor. Okada rolled away from another springboard, leading to Guevara launching himself off of the stairs into a cutter on the floor.

Okada dodged a moonsault before catching Guevara with a DDT on the floor. After a commercial, Guevara countered a Tombstone attempt with a headscissor driver. Okada sat Guevara down with an uppercut, but Guevara came back with a flying forearm. Guevara hit a suicide dive to Okada before following with a moonsault from the top rope to the floor.

Okada came back and laid Guevara out with a back body drop on the ring steps. Okada brought Guevara back in the ring and went on the offensive with the dropkick and the elbow drop. Okada hit the middle finger pose before going for the Rainmaker, but Guevara caught him with a Spanish Fly for a nearfall. Okada tried to throw the referee into Guevara’s way, but Guevara hit a superkick and a Go To Hell. Okada stumbled into the corner, so Guevara hit a kick in the corner. He went for another springboard cutter, but Okada caught him with the Rainmaker to score the win and turn back Guevara’s challenge.

Sammy Guevara wants to be ‘the best version’ of himself in AEW return

Sammy Guevara says he’s going to stop getting in his own way.

The 31-year-old returned to AEW/ROH in late July after having missed the previous five months due to suspension. He was suspended in February for not following concussion protocol in a no-disqualification match against Jeff Hardy on Rampage.

In the latest edition of his vlog, Guevara says that since he’s been back, he just wants to be the best version of himself.

“I’ve had so much time off to really just think to myself, what does Sammy Guevara want out of wrestling? And truthfully, I just want to be the best version of myself. That might sound corny or generic but I’m just tired of standing in my own way.”

Guevara was also suspended from AEW in 2020 after comments he made about Mercedes Mone on a podcast from 2016 resurfaced.

“I just want this to be the best version of Sammy Guevara and I don’t want to stand in my own way and I want to just keep giving my best whatever comes my way whether it’s Ring of Honor or it’s Collision, Dynamite whatever it is. You put me in that wrestling ring and I’m just going to give it my all.”

Guevara won the ROH World Tag Team titles with Dustin Rhodes just a few weeks after returning. They defended them most recently in a Bunkhouse Brawl against the Undisputed Kingdom on Saturday’s episode of Collision.

Guevara also teamed with Hologram in a win over The Beast Mortos and Matt Taven in a match held at the Jacksonville Jaguars practice field before the team’s home opener.

The full episode of his blog is available below.

AEW Collision live results: Bunkhouse Brawl for ROH Tag Team titles

A Bunkhouse Brawl for the Ring of Honor Tag Team titles headlines tonight’s live AEW Collision from Springfield, Massachussetts.

Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes will defend the titles against former champions The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett). The former titleholders lost the gold back on the August 17th Collision in Arlington, Texas, while tonight marks the first defense for the champs.

The show will feature an all star ten-man tag team match with FTR, Hook and The Outrunners uniting to take on the Grizzled Young Veterans, Roderick Strong, The Beast Mortos, and Rush. The Outrunners made the save for FTR last Saturday after they were attacked by GYV after their match.

Darby Allin, who is set to face Jon Moxley at Wednesday’s Grand Slam, will take on Evil Uno while AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May, who will defend against Yuka Sakazaki Wednesday, will square off with Lady Frost in non-title action.

**********

Collision kicked off with plunder all around the ring for the opening match. Tony Schiavone & Nigel McGuinness were on the call.

Bunkhouse Brawl for ROH World Tag Team Titles – Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara (c) defeated The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett)

A fun, fast-paced plunder brawl to kick off the show. The Rhodes and Guevara team is working wonders, as Guevara gets to benefit from Rhodes and his eternal goodwill with the fans. I’d expect these two to continue to get shine on the road to All In: Texas next year.

The champions came out first in jeans and jumped the challengers on the ramp to kick off the title defense. Rhodes used his father’s belt buckle to carve up Bennett while Guevara hit a moonsault off the barricade to Taven. Bennett sent Rhodes into a chair in the corner to take him out for a moment. Guevara had a chair flung in his face to cut off a dive before the Kingdom hit a suicide doomsday device from the ring to the floor.

Rhodes menaced both of the Kingdom with a tazer, but they cut him off with a double superkick. Rhodes fought Bennett away and took Taven off the stage with a bulldog through barbed wire tables. Bennett sent Rhodes into the ring, but Guevara pulled him off the apron with a cutter through another table as we went to a commercial.

After the commercial break, Guevara climbed a ladder before a now-bloodied Taven shoved him off the ladder through two tables. A bloody Rhodes fought both men off with double crotch grabs, then got his hands on a cowbell and ran wild with it. Rhodes sent Taven into a chair with a powerslam, then suplexed him through the chair for a nearfall. Bennett sent Rhodes through two chairs with a Death Valley Driver, then held a chair in place for a Just The Tip with the chair.

Guevara cut off the pin and hit Taven with the Go To Hell. Guevara set Bennett up in the corner for Shattered Dreams, which Rhodes hit with a barbed wire cowboy boot. Rhodes hit the Final Reckoning, then held Bennett in place for a Guevara senton off of a ladder for the win.

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, & Hologram were backstage with Lexy Nair when The Premier Athletes immediately cut them off. Mark Sterling noted that his hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts named today AEW Day, and that he was going to make sure there were no Conglomeration shenanigans tonight. Mark Briscoe took offense, calling Sterling a “shenanigator” and bringing in Rocky Romero as an equalizer for their team.

We got a short video hyping Britt Baker’s return to the ring at the Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary show on October 2.

Tony Schiavone announced that after the events of last week, Queen Aminata demanded a match with Serena Deeb and will get it tonight.

Evil Uno was backstage with Lexy Nair ahead of his match with Darby Allin. He was upset that people were overlooking him when Allin entered the frame. Allin warned Uno that Jon Moxley was starting a war and that he looked down on everyone else in AEW. Allin challenged Uno not to wrestle him tonight, but to fight him tonight and prove Moxley wrong.

Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, & Hologram (w/ Rocky Romero) defeated The Premier Athletes (Ari Daivari, Josh Woods, & Tony Nese) (w/ Mark Sterling)

Hologram took the first advantage of the match, evading Nese in the corner before hitting a ropewalk dropkick. The Athletes caught O’Reilly in the corner and laid the boots to him as we went to a commercial. I normally fast-forward the commercials, but there was one for the season premiere of 911, in which a truck crashed and sent 22 MILLION KILLER BEES into the streets. And they called a bunch of firefighters to…wrangle them up, I guess? I just about died. Why were there so many bees in a truck? What is Jennifer Love Hewitt supposed to do about it?

I wiped the tears out of my eyes for Hologram’s hot tag. He got cut off but tagged in Briscoe for his own hot tag. Briscoe hit a Death Valley Bomb and went up for the Froggy Bow, but Sterling cut him off. Romero got Sterling in place for a Hologram dive, and Briscoe hit the Jay Driller on Woods for the win.

(MxM Collection taking tips from Jean Pierre Lafitte, it seems.)

Non-Title Match – Mariah May defeated Lady Frost

May blew McGuinness a kiss on commentary, allowing Frost to steal a roll-up for a nearfall. May took control with a Mariah-Go-Round spinning sidewalk slam. May took Frost off the top rope with a headscissors and hit a John Woo dropkick, but Frost came back with a cartwheel off of May’s back into a dropkick. May and Frost traded German suplexes before May hit a headbutt and a running knee. May hit the Storm Zero for the win.

During this match, it was announced that the Learning Tree would take on The Conglomeration (Cassidy, Briscoe, & O’Reilly) next week on Collision: Grand Slam in a Tornado Trios Match.

We got a video package for the Women’s Title match next week on Dynamite: Grand Slam between Mariah May & Yuka Sakazaki.

Willow Nightingale was backstage with Lexy Nair. Nightingale said that she was still hurting from her loss at All Out but was looking forward to the future. Deonna Purrazzo & Taya Valkyrie entered the frame to chew out Nightingale for not looking out for her friend Yuka Sakazaki over the past few weeks. Purrazzo offered Sakazaki protection, drawing Nightingale’s objection. Valkyrie got in Nightingale’s face, and a challenge was made for next week’s Rampage.

(I can’t say that a Purrazzo & Valkyrie team excites me very much.)

The Acclaimed were in the back. Caster insulted MxM Collection with a freestyle, saying that their style was weak and that MxM was stealing the Acclaimed’s style to get themselves noticed.

We got a video package for Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley on Dynamite: Grand Slam that also brought up the group’s pleas to Wheeler Yuta to join them.

Darby Allin defeated Evil Uno (w/ Alex Reynolds)

Much better than it looked on paper, as Allin fired Uno up to fight hard in the pre-tape. Allin is one of the most consistently good TV wrestlers in the world, as he never takes a night off in the ring and always finds an interesting angle to approach a match.

Uno slapped Allin in the face to start, then clubbered on him in the corner. Reynolds distracted the referee to allow Uno to whip Allin with his belt. Allin came back with a suicide dive and tore into Uno’s mask, but a Reynolds distraction allowed Uno to pinball Allin around ringside. A piledriver got uno a nearfall. Allin caught Uno in a Bully Choke, a move that Jon Moxley used to beat Uno in the past, but Uno got to the ropes. Uno hit a buckle bomb and a flatliner for a nearfall.

Reynolds helped Uno fight off a sunset flip, forcing Allin to hit him with a suicide dive. Allin side-stepped an Uno cannonball off the apron, then hit a Coffin Drop to the floor. Allin hit a Coffin Drop in the ring to score the win.

We got a recap of the Hangman Page/Jeff Jarrett interaction from Dynamite. In video from after Dynamite, Jeff & Karen Jarrett were with Renee Paquette. To his wife’s dismay, Jarrett challenged Hangman Page to a Lumberjack Strap Match at Grand Slam. Jarrett named a few people he had in mind to be lumberjacks, like the Dark Order, Jay Lethal, & Satnam Singh. He had enough of Page’s attitude and his ego and was going to kick his ass at Grand Slam.

Serena Deeb defeated Queen Aminata

The crowd wasn’t into this match to start, chanting for Willow instead. By the end, these two earned This Is Awesome chants as they had a very good TV match here.

Deeb outwrestled Aminata to start, catching her in a seated surfboard stretch. Aminata had a short flurry before Deeb took Aminata down with a neckbreaker in the ropes. After a commercial break, Aminata fought out of an Octopus Stretch with a sidewalk slam.

Aminata made her comeback, hitting a swinging suplex for a nearfall. Aminata dropped Deeb with a German suplex before hitting a sliding kick for a nearfall. Deeb came back with a hammerlock lariat for a nearfall. We got a pinning predicament before Deeb hit a chop block. Aminata hit Deeb with the Brain Drain headbutt, but it sent Deeb to the floor. Deeb caught Aminata with a Dragon Screw on the way back into the ring, then hit the Detox in the ring for the win.

We got a recap of the Harley Cameron vs. Hikaru Shida match from Rampage. It featured interference from both Saraya & Jamie Hayter, leading to Saraya challenging Jamie Hayter to a Saraya’s Rules match for Grand Slam. Saraya & Cameron were with Renee Paquette backstage. Cameron ran down what Saraya’s Rules were, all of them essentially saying that Saraya could cheat and that Cameron could interfere.

Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara were backstage with Lexy Nair. They put each other over before Guevara noted that he wanted two titles like Rhodes had. He challenged Kazuchika Okada to an eliminator match for Grand Slam and said that if he won, he’d take his title match at the 5-Year Anniversary Dynamite the following week.

(Sammy Guevara vs. Kazuchika Okada. What the hell does that look like? I guess we’ll find out next week.)

All-Star Ten Man Tag Team Match – Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson), Roderick Strong, Rush & The Beast Mortos defeated FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood), Hook & The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

This felt like a throwback to CM Punk’s Collision, with a multi-man tag main event that went one commercial break too long. It’s good to see Rush get a win, though.

Wheeler & Drake started, but a big brawl kicked off and the babyfaces pinballed Strong around before Mortos saved him from the Redrum. After a commercial, Mortos had control of Harwood and hit him with a cannonball. Rush tagged in and stomped on Harwood before hitting his pose. Gibson tagged in but got overwhelmed by Harwood. Hook tagged in but took a double clothesline from the Veterans for a nearfall.

Strong and Hook got after it, with Hook laying the rudos out with strikes before sending Strong flying with a T-Bone suplex. The rudos took control of Hook as we went to another commercial. Hook made the tag to Floyd, who ran wild with bodyslams. Magnum tagged in to hit the Predator elbow drop. They hit Drake with the Shatter Machine, but the pin got broken up and a Pier Six brawl broke out.

Gibson cut off Magnum with a throat chop. Magnum got worked on by the rudos into and through the commercial break before getting the tag to Harwood. We got German suplexes from the tecnicos before another Pier Six brawl broke out. Strong and Hook brawled to the back, and Rush and Harwood were left in the ring. FTR set up the Shatter Machine, but Mortos broke it up before hitting the spinning tornillo to the crowd on the floor. Another Shatter Machine attempt got broken up by Mortos, who worked together with Rush to lay Harwood out. Rush hit the Bull’s Horns and pinned Harwood to get the win.

Serena Deeb was backstage and challenged Britt Baker to a match on the 5 Year Anniversary Dynamite from Pittsburgh on October 2.

Nigel McGuinness Town Hall

A very good promo from McGuinness to close out the show. I liked Schiavone standing up for Danielson in his absence and calling out McGuinness for trying to manipulate the situation outside of Danielson’s control. McGuinness really got it across how his obsession with Danielson had driven him crazy and how badly he needed the Danielson match to prove himself right after over a decade of retirement. A great final sell for Grand Slam.

Nigel McGuinness was on the stage, noting that Bryan Danielson had still refused to answer his challenge for Grand Slam. He accused Danielson of faking his injury, and that the reality was that Danielson feared McGuinness. McGuinness said that if Danielson wouldn’t do it for them, and if he wouldn’t do it so his family couldn’t be embarrassed by him anymore, he should do it for the fans.

Tony Schiavone took to the stage and said that he knew that McGuinness was trying to manipulate Danielson into a match. He said that Danielson wasn’t afraid of McGuinness and that he would fight McGuinness if he was cleared. Schiavone said that in his five decades of calling wrestling, Danielson was the greatest wrestler he had ever seen. McGuinness said that if anybody else had said that to him, they would have gotten laid out.

He told Schiavone to sit back down, then told Danielson that it was his destiny to get one more match with Danielson. He spent years shouting at the moon about how he was as good as Danielson, but no one believed him. There were only two people who knew what he was saying was the truth, himself and Danielson. Danielson knew that McGuinness was better than him and refused to give McGuinness his vindication. McGuinness hoped Danielson showed up, and if he didn’t, he hoped the devil heard his prayers.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes vs. Dark Order

The Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions will be in non-title action as part of tonight’s ROH TV show on HonorClub.

Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes will team up against recent rivals John Silver & Alex Reynolds of the Dark Order in a Proving Ground match. If the challengers beat or draw the champions, they earn a future title shot.

Two teams vying for a future shot themselves — The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) and Serpentico & Angelico — will battle in tag team action.

Hard-hitting Rachael Ellering will be in action as will Olympic boxing knockout artist Anthony Ogogo in his first bout since August’s All In. This will be his first singles match in either AEW or ROH since a dark match in April.

Both Brian Cage and his partners the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) will be in action in separate bouts.

**********

ROH World TV Champion Red Velvet defeated Allysin Kay in a Proving Ground Match

This was power vs. finesse as Velvet picked up a victory in this proving ground match. Ian Riccaboni noted on commentary that Velvet’s rivalry with Diamante is heating up.

Velvet started strong but Kay used a fallaway slam, suplex, and other power-based moves to gain the advantage. Kay put Velvet in an ankle lock and a straight jacket before Velvet started to make her comeback. Kay cut off her momentum at one point with a spinebuster but then it was all Velvet.

Velvet hit a running knee while Kay was draped in the ropes before landing a facebuster-type move, not unlike LA Knight’s Blunt Force trauma, for the win.

The Gates of Agony (Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun) defeated Dante Leon & Trip Gordy

This was a total squash win for the Gates of Agony. Riccaboni noted on commentary that Gates of Agony have one of the best win/loss records in the ROH tag division, which could mean a title shot is not too far off for them.

A video on the history between Nigel McGuinness and Bryan Danielson aired.

Preston Vance defeated Brandon Cutler

On commentary, they played up how Vance is looking to honor Brodie Lee’s legacy now, and he would do that by picking up his second win in a row with a discuss lariat.

Cutler came out to cut a promo and ran down the fans until Preston Vance came out. Cutler told Vance he wasn’t allowed to lay a hand on him until he showed him respect and adhered to the code of honor. Vance then punched him in the face immediately after shaking his hand.

Vance took the early offense while Cutler ran away. Cutler eventually hung him up on the ropes and got a period of offense, which mainly consisted of rest holds. Cutler did hit a superkick and pump handle slam at one point but that was about it.

Vance picked up the win with a discus lariat, not unlike the one Brodie Lee used.

The Outrunners cut a promo on the Iron Savages backstage and it was just wonderful. They said they would take them on anytime any place. So, we’ll likely get that match booked at some point.

John Silver defeated KM

Silver and KM had a pose down before the match began, with the crowd heavily favoring Silver.

The Dark Order have been heels of late, but that was not the case here. Silver was playing to the crowd and KM was being a heel.

Silver suplexed KM and gave him an airplane spin into a slam for the win, which looked really impressive considering the size difference between the two. Riccaboni noted on commentary that Sid Vicious used to use a similar move and Silver has adopted it of late.

Mark Sterling and Josh Woods cut a promo in the back. Sterling played up Woods’ collegiate record and said there was more to come. He concluded the promo by saying Woods would take on anyone at any time.

Rachael Ellering defeated Maggie Lee

They noted that Lee was trained by former ROH World Champion Tyler Black, aka Seth Rollins. Riccaboni with some sly plugs for Black’s matches being available on Honorclub.

Ellering hit a big shoulder block, a running elbow, a knife-edge chop that looked like it hurt, a running dropkick, and a running senton. She then hit the Bosswoman slam for the win.

Ellering went to shake Lee’s hand but Lee rejected it. Man, I guess Rollins doesn’t teach sportsmanship at his academy.

A video on Anthony Henry, JD Drake, and BEEF aired. The angle is that BEEF is Henry’s second cousin by marriage and is filling in for the injured Drake. They are undefeated together so far.

The Infantry (Shawn Dean & Carlie Bravo) w/Trish Adora defeated The Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico)

This was a good match.

Serpentico and Angelico got the first real period of sustained offense, working on Bravo. He eventually made a hot tag to Dean who hit a DDT on Angelico and a big clothesline on Serpentico. He hit a floating back elbow and then Bravo tagged back in and got a two-count on a Falcon Arrow.

Angelico and Serpentico got back on offense and then started to work on Dean. Angelico hit a flatliner followed by Serpentico hitting a frog splash for a two-count.

Infantry got back on offense and worked two-on-one against Serpentico, finishing him off with the Boot Camp.

The Code of Honor was adhered to by both teams and the Infantry raised their opponents’ hands after the match. Some nice sportsmanship after Maggie Lee’s display against Ellering.

Anthony Ogogo defeated Kit Sackett

They snuck in some ads for Forbidden Door in London next year during this squash win for Anthony Ogogo.

Coleman noted on commentary that Sackett has an MMA background. Ogogo played to the crowd a lot. He hit a pump handle powerbomb, running kick to the face, an overhead suplex, and a big running clothesline. He hit his pop-up punch in the face move and referee Bryce Remsburg called for the bell.

Ogogo then went around ringside flipping off fans and generally being a bad guy.

Brian Cage defeated Rusman

Cage was in “Wolverine” gear for this one. His gear has often been Wolverine-focused since the latest movie came out.

Rusman got a nearfall off a uranage after not getting much offense at all in the early going. He then missed a move from the top and Cage took over the match from there. Cage hit a discus clothesline, powerbomb and then finished him off with an inverted cloverleaf for the submission victory. Coleman noted that now that he has submissions in the mix as well, Cage is even more dangerous.

Anthony Ogogo cut a promo backstage. He said it was time for him to win some gold in ROH. Taylor then said STP is going to take every title in ROH.

ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara defeated The Dark Order’s Evil Uno & Alex Reynolds

The code of honor was adhered to but Reynolds gave Guevara a little shove after. The Dark Order were definitely heels here. Reynolds left the ring and pointed out that they don’t have to beat the champions in a proving ground match, they can go the distance and they will still earn a tag title shot.

Rhodes broke out a spinaroonie at one point here. Riccaboni pointed out on commentary that Rhodes has been tag champs with hall of famers, such as Booker T and Ricky Steamboat.

Dark Order ended up on offense, working on Rhodes. Rhodes eventually fought back with a powerslam on Uno and went to make a tag tag but Silver got in the ring, distracted the ref so he didn’t see the tag, and the Dark Order were able to gain the advantage again. Uno hit a piledriver on Rhodes for two-count.

Guevara eventually made a hot tag and the crowd got pretty into Guevara. He hit a cutter on Reynolds, Rhodes then ran in with a shrinking wizard for a two-count. The Dark Order retreated to the outside again, because they are trying to run out the time limit. Guevara dove on all three of them and tossed Reynolds back in the ring. Rhodes hit him with what Riccaboni called a “Texas Destroyer,” then a twisting suplex and Guevara hit a swanton on Reynolds for the win.

As Rhodes and Guevara are celebrating, Cage of Agony attacks them. The Dark Order joined in so it was a six-on-two attack to close the show. It looks like Gates of Agony will probably get a shot at Rhodes & Guevara, and then possibly Cage of Agony against Rhodes & The Von Erichs as well.

A perfectly fine professional wrestling show.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Sammy Guevara vs. Ari Daivari

Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara will look to rebound from his Dynamite loss as he goes one-on-one with Ari Daivari — a theme for tonight’s ROH on HonorClub.

Guevara lost to Ricochet on Wednesday and will face Daivari for the first time ever as the Premier Athletes aim to get themselves in ROH championship contention.

ROH men’s TV Champion Atlantis Jr. will be in non-title action against Peter Avalon in a Proving Ground match. If Avalon can beat or draw the champion, he earns a future title shot.

Lio Rush will also be hoping to come back from a Dynamite defense as he takes on Rocky Romero. Rush lost to TBS Champion Jack Perry on Wednesday.

Queen Aminata also lost on Dynamite, dropping a title eliminator to AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May. She will return to action against Harley Cameron.

Other ROH talents that are scheduled include Robyn Renegade, The Outrunners, The Righteous, Lady Frost, and the first time ever pairing of AR Fox & Komander.

**********

It’s Thursday and you know what that means! Yup, almost Friday! But before we get to that, we’ve got Ring of Honor on Honorclub episode 81 waiting for us!

ROH World Television Title Proving Ground Match: Atlantis Jr. [c] defeated Peter Avalon

For those not in the know, a Proving Ground match gives the challenger a 10-minute time limit to beat the Champion. If Avalon could last the 10 minutes or score a pin on Atlantis Jr, he’d earn a future shot at the ROH World Television Title.

Both men were evenly matched, so it wasn’t a shock when the match started off with some pretty standard lockups and holds. Avalon got the first big move, sending Atlantis to the mat with an arm drag and then bragging about it for a long time. It’s possible his strategy was to talk trash long enough for the clock to run out, but Atlantis wasn’t having it and silenced him with a falcon arrow.

After a few minutes, Avalon faked a knee injury, presumably to drain more time from the clock. Atlantis, ever the sportsman, let him recover, which he did with gusto delivering a running knee to the champion. Atlantis recovered and landed a high crossbody followed by a Chris Adams Superkick.

Avalon tried a quick rollup, but Atlantis was able to kick out. Same result with a big moonsault from the top rope. A suicide dive from Avalon got Atlantis’ attention though, and the luchadore decided enough was enough. Atlantis hit a huge frog splash from the top rope to get the pin and leave Avalon, unproven.

-Next up, Billie Starkz called an emergency MEM with the ROH Women’s Champion Athena. Starkz wanted to know what was going on to which Athena began gushing about how great Lexy Nair is. Athena suggested Lexy get a jacket that says “MINION NUMBER ONE” on it and Starkz lost her cool. Starkz complained that Lexy was getting credit for her work. Athena suggested that Starkz not let her jealousy overshadow her happiness. Also, not to snitch on Lexy. Athena left an upset Starkz to think about things.

Queen Aminata defeated Harley Cameron

The Outcast’s Harley Cameron has most recently been spending her time in ROH following Rachael Ellering around to make fun of her fashion sense. Aminata has been keeping Red Velvet’s back safe in their never ending feud with ROH Women’s Champion Athena and her newly demoted Minion-In-Training, Billie Starkz.

Aminata was aggressive off the top, working Cameron’s arm and neck. Cameron was able to reverse one of the holds though and Aminata ended up in a headlock. Cameron dragged Aminata to the outside and bounced her head off the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!). Aminata returned the favour and tossed Cameron back into the Ring.

The two traded forearms with the hard-hitting Aminata coming out on top. She followed it up with a swinging neckbreaker, sending Cameron crawling to the corner. Aminata delivered a vicious running kick to Cameron, but it only resulted in a two-count. Cameron fought back with a headscissors and a backstabber. Then, out of nowhere, Aminata hit a lights out spinning back elbow knocking Cameron cold and got the pin.

Top Flight (Darious and Duante Martin) and Action Andretti defeated Vin Parker, Dante Leone and CD Bennett

Footage of Top Flight and Action Andretti at AEW All Out was shown as the match kicked off. Andretti started things off against Parker, tossing him around until Darious could tag in. That brought Bennett in off the bench, but he didn’t manage to fare any better. Dante tagged in and so did Leone, completing the trifecta for both teams.

Duante and Darious double teamed Leone for a while, until Parker tried to help. He was quickly dispatched of but the distraction opened the door for Leone to get in a bit of offence. Dante found himself double teamed by Parker and Bennett, but somehow hit a headscissor takedown on both of them at the same time! That brought in the Martins who cleaned house. Andretti planted Bennett with a sinning side slam and Duante was able to get the pin.

-Harley Cameron was interviewed backstage about her loss, but who should interrupt Rachael Ellering. Ellering mocked Cameron’s loss in a condescending manner usually used by Cameron. Cameron left in a huff.

The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) (w/Erica Leigh) defeated Fly Def (Warren J & Zack Zilla)

The previous trios match was so much fun, ROH served up another helping! The Outrunners made a big splash on Dynamite this week in the Tag Team Casino Gauntlet Match to earn a shot at the Young Bucks AEW Tag Team Titles. They didn’t end up the winners there, so they had a lot of frustration to work out on J and Zilla.

The OUtrunners had the crowd on their side from the start. Floyd started things off and immediately pulled J into a technical mat-based battle. Magnum tagged in and the Outrunners began double teaming Zilla. J tried to come back with some chops, but that just made Magnum angry. He showed the youngster what a real chop feels like and dragged him to the corner for a big right hand from Floyd.

In the end The Outrunners were able to over power J and Floyd got the pin. The standard posing began but was interrupted by Jacked Jameson and the Iron Savages! The trio attacked the Outrunners, knocking them from pillar to post, until the Infantry arrived to even the odds! The Savages were run back to Titty City as The Infantry and Outrunners shook hands and posed in the ring.

Robyn Renegade defeated Angelica Risk

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Renegade or Risk making themselves known in ROH. To be honest, I feel like they are a missed tag team opportunity. Renegade and Risk. Risky Renegades. R&R Connection. These things practically write themselves. For this episode though, they were opponents, and got down to it right away.

Renegade began by mocking Risk’s height. To be fair, Renegade seemed to be a bout a foot taller, but Risk was having none of it and the two traded blows for what seemed like a really long time. Risk came out on top though until she tried to Irish Whip Renegade who simply reversed it and kicked her in the face.

Renegade hit a massive suplex but Risk refused to quit. Renegade tossed her onto the mat, in complete control. She took a little too much time though and Risk surprised her with a dodge. Renegade decided enough was enough and hit a pump handle slam to put Risk down for good.

-Next, Jacoby Watts cut a promo via “purchased” airtime. He called out EJ Nduka issued a challenge to him for next week on behalf of himself and Nick Comoroto.

The Righteous (Dutch & Vincent) defeat James Blackheart & JC Valentine

Last week, The Righteous (along with Lance Archer) annihilated three somewhat remembered wrestlers. This week they looked to do the same to Valentine and Blackheart.

Vincent kicked things off by giving Blackheart a “hug of honor.” Then he kicked him in the stomach. Vincent caught him with a big knee next, driving Blackheart back into the corner. Valentine tagged in, so Dutch decided to get in on the action as well. Valentine lasted about 3 seconds before Dutch KO’ed him with a lariat and a brain buster. Blackheart tagged back in and tried to fight Dutch but the bigger guy no sold everything.

Vincent was tagged in and grabbed Blackheart in a carry. Dutch slammed them both, and the duo hit Orange Sunshine to pick up the win.

Sammy Guevara defeated Ariya Daivari (w/Mark Sterling)

One-half of the ROH Tag Champions (with Dustin Rhodes), Guevara has been pulling double duty the last little while, having matches on Dynamite as recently as yesterday when he took on Ricochet in a losing effort. Diavari and his cronies in the Premier Athletes have been getting mixed results in both tag and singles matches in ROH.

Mark Sterling ran the Texas crowd down on the way to the ring, mocking native Texan Guevara. The two men were on the same page in terms of size and speed, but Guevara’s timing seemed to be a little better that Daivari’s. The showboating was on display as usual though, with Guevara asking the crowd to quiet down so he they could hear him chopping Daivari on the outside.

Back in the ring, Daivari took control, throwing Guevara into the turnbuckle again and again. Daivari hit a Dory Funk-style drop toehold on Guevara then distracted the ref so that Sterling could choke a prone Guevara. A sleeper was applied and Guevara nearly passed out but fought back at two and sent Daivari into the ropes.

After a double clothesline a chop exchange began ending with Guevara getting some steam and knocking Daivari into the corner. One stalling suplex later Guevara got a two count on Daivari who’s head was now a disturbing shade of purple.

Guevara hit a high knee and climbed the ringpost only to be knocked off by the Premier Athletes! Daivari tried to capitalize, but Guevara kicked out. Guevara took out the Athletes with a backflip on the outside, and nailed Sterling for good measure. One GTH later and Guevara pinned Daivari for the win.

-Next, Lexy Nair reluctantly interviewed Red Velvet in the back. The two disagreed about what a Champion should be like. Velvet called Nair “bitter.” Velvet stated that now that she’s Champion, the “mean girl” era is over. Suddenly, Diamante appeared. She called Velvet “Captain Save-a-ho” which was really weird. The two had a really awkward conversation and that was it.

Lady Frost defeated Promise Braxton

Last week, Frost took on ROH Women’s World Television Champion Red Velvet in a Proving Ground match. She came up short in that bout, but didn’t seem to be letting that bother her while addressing Braxton. Braxton was last seen on the losing end of a match with Leila Grey. Both women here could use a victory.

They locked up with speed and duelling chants from the crowd. Braxton hit a really nice spinning backbreaker on Frost, but it only got a two count. Frost seemed a little on her heels, letting Braxton lock in a sleeper. Frost fought out of it though and took control with a flying forearm.

Frost hit a hurricanrana from the outside (yeah, I know!) and sent Braxton into the corner. Promise ducked and delivered an exploder suplex. Frost followed it up with a hard kick and went to the top of the ringpost. She landed a frostbite from the top and got the victory over Braxton.

Willie Mack defeated Exodus Prime

Mack arrived to a big ovation, and Prime arrived in the form of a truck.

Anyway, The match was a really fun one. Mack had the size advantage on Prime and used it to control most of the match pace. He didn’t really seem to take Prime seriously at first, but Prime’s killer speed got his attention. Mack countered by keeping Prime off his feet, tying him up in the ropes and delivering massive chops.

Mack went to the darkest timeline and gave Prime a double nipple twist in the corner. That seemed to fire him up more though and he actually suplexed the big man. Prime dropped a knee on Mack and hit a really cool slingshot legdrop through the ropes.

Mack hit a devastating running suplex that seemed to do more damage to him than Prime. The two nearly got counted out, but they were able to get to their feet at 8. Mack fired up and hit some running knees. He scooped up Prime and slammed him, setting him up for a standing moonsault that should not have been possible.

Mack caught Prime looking with a stunner, and climbed the ring post. He hit a big splash from the top and got the three-count.

-Anthony Henry cut a promo from the back about the status of the Workhorsemen. Beef arrived to interrupt with the power of enthusiasm. Henry asked him to chill and the concept seemed foreign to Beef. Henry begged him and Beef tried, but failed to be able to chill.

Preston Vance defeated KM

Vance felt like he has let down his mentor Brodie Lee, so he has come back to ROH to prove himself. KM happened to be there as well, so he seemed like a good opponent.

KM is huge, so the collisions between these two literally shook the ring. Vance hung him up in the ropes, and delivered some hard clubs to the chest. The fight moved to the outside where it quickly became a brawl. Vance was able to send him into multiple barricades and the steel steps for good measure.

KM broke the count and began stalking Vance up the entrance ramp. Vance countered a suplex on the 315-pounder and dropped him onto the ramp before dragging him back to the ring. Vance hit a spine buster and a big lariat and that was it for KM. A definite surprise win for Vance.

SAP (Serpentico and Angelico) and Fuego Del Sol defeated Ace of Space Academy (LSG and Colton Charles) and Joe Alonzo

This was a really fun match! Angelico and Serpentico have been teaming really well together for a ling time and Del Sol fit in perfectly. The trio delivered three-part and synchronous moves with ease, picking apart their opponents.

Serpentico got his eyes raked by Alonzo and LSG jumped in for a double team. Charles then tagged in for a big slam and roof raise. Serpentico managed to hit a hot tag to Angelico after a really, uh, interesting, exchange. Angelico cleaned house, fighting off all three and ending up battling LSG in the ring as the legal man.

Del Sol inserted himself into the match with a big DDT off the top rope. Angelico hit a flatliner and Serpentico hit a serpent splash on LSG. Angelico locked in the grapevine and got the very smooth win for his trio.

AR Fox & Komander (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Brilliante RB & Ariel Dominguez

The last time we saw Komander in ROH it was in a singles match win over KM. Prior to that, he experienced being thrown at the floor A LOT by The Beast Mortos back in July. Fox also shares the distinction of being thrown at the ground A LOT by Mortos. I guess they decided “safety in numbers” and paired up for this bout.

Komander kicked things off against Dominguez and the two moved at lightning speed, getting in multiple pinning combinations and moves in just a few minutes. Komander caught Dominguez looking and the two mirrored each other through a double dropkick and kip-up.

Fox tagged in against Brilliante (in an outfit he bought that morning) and towered over the brightly-colored luchador. The size of Fox was too much and Dominguez tagged in only to br crushed by Fox. The two smaller men tried a double team but Fox laughed them both off. He caught Brilliante with a big cutter and tagged in Komander.

Komander climbed the ring post and hit a huge splash on Brilliante to get the hard-fought victory.

Lio Rush defeated Rocky Romero

The Main Event of the evening pitted teach against student. Romero mentored Rush over the years and taught him a lot. Rush was also on this past week’s Dynamite, taking on Jack Perry. Rush failed to win the TNT Title from the Scapegoat, but made an impression doing so. Romero last week bested Aaron Solo on ROH.

Given their relationship, the two were really ready for each other. They knew what the other was going to do just as they decided to do it. Cause of this, the feeling out process went on for a while and the match began at a slow pace.

Things picked up a bit as the match moved into the “trading chops” phase. Romero seemed to have Rush on the ropes, but Rush was able to counter and dodge until he was able to catch Romero with a dropkick. Rush tried to dive through the ropes, but Romero saw it coming and Rush pulled up in time to avoid disaster.

Romero started playing mind games, playing like he was going to quit, but climbing back into the ring to slap Rush. Rush countered though, chopping Romero back into the corner. Romero caught Rush with a backbreaker followed by a spinning backbreaker. He tosssed rush out of the ring to slam him into the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring).

Back in the ring, Romero continued working the back of Rush, driving knees and kicks right between the shoulder blades. Romero even put Rush up into a surfboard, bending him in half. Romero really poured it on then with a recliner. Rush managed to stand and hit a jawbreaker though, stunning Romero.

Rush countered another backbreaker by Romero into a big DDT. The crowd got into it as Rush hit a big clothesline in the corner. Rush hit a falcon arrow but Romero kicked out a two. The two traded forearms in the middle of the ring until Rush got caught by Romero who delivered a modified GTS but only got the two count. Rush climbed the ringpost and hit a final hour splash to get the 1-2-3 on his mentor, Romero.
