North American, Tag Team title matches set for next week’s WWE NXT

Two title matches have been announced for next week’s NXT.

Wes Lee will once again defend the North American title, this time against Charlie Dempsey. Lee was talking to McKenzie Mitchell when Drew Gulak and Dempsey walked up and confronted Lee. The three exchanged words, with the title match becoming official later on in the show.

Lee most recently defended his title in a five-way match at Stand and Deliver. Days later, he one again retained the title by defeating Axiom.

After The Dyad confronted champions Gallus in a backstage promo, Joe Coffey made his return to in-ring action by defeating the debuting Tank Ledger. After the match, The Creed Brothers made their way to the ring and attacked Gallus. The Dyad then entered the ring, turning the confrontation into a three-way brawl.

Here is the lineup for next week’s WWE NXT:

  • NXT North American title: Wes Lee (c) vs. Charlie Dempsey
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Gallus (c) vs. The Dyad vs. The Creed Brothers

The New Day win NXT Tag Team titles at Deadline

The New Day are the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston are the new champions after defeating Pretty Deadly during Saturday’s NXT Deadline. The finish had Kofi Kingston deliver the trouble in paradise on Elton Prince on the outside. Xavier Woods then scored the pinfall win over Kit Wilson after The New Day hit the midnight hour.

With their win, The New Day have now won all three current tag team titles in WWE. Commentator Vic Joseph noted that this was the fifteenth time Kofi Kingston has held a tag team title in WWE. Pretty Deadly had held the titles for 97 days, defeating Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs, Gallus, and The Creed Brothers to unify the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team titles at Worlds Collide back on September 4.

The match for the titles was set up this past Tuesday on NXT, when The New Day interrupted Pretty Deadly’s Christmas story to challenge them for the titles. The two teams eventually brawled, with The New Day getting the upper hand.

New Day to challenge for NXT Tag Team titles at Deadline

A match between The New Day and Pretty Deadly has been added to NXT Deadline.

Saturday’s Deadline will now have a NXT Tag Team title match between the two teams. The New Day appeared on Tuesday’s NXT, challenging Pretty Deadly to a title match.

In addition, a match between Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre has been made.

Pretty Deadly were in the ring Tuesday reading their version of A Christmas Story. Once they were done reading their poem, The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston) came out and challenged them to a match. The two teams eventually got into a brawl, with The New Day gaining the upper hand after putting Christmas presents on top of Pretty Deadly’s heads and superkicking them off the apron and to the floor.

Dawn defeated Thea Hail on Tuesday’s show. After the match, Fyre emerged and attacked Dawn, retribution for what happened weeks ago on NXT when Dawn made her debut by attacking Fyre and costing her the NXT Women’s Championship.

It was also announced during the show that the pre-show kickoff event will be hosted by McKenzie Mitchell, Sam Roberts, and our own Denise Salcedo.

Here is the updated lineup for Saturday’s NXT Deadline:

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Apollo Crews
  • Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match: Carmelo Hayes vs. JD McDonagh vs. Grayson Waller vs. Joe Gacy vs. Axiom
  • Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match: Zoey Stark vs. Cora Jade vs. Kiana James vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Indi Hartwell
  • NXT Tag Team titles: Pretty Deadly vs. The New Day
  • Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn

Four matches added to WWE NXT Worlds Collide

Four matches have been added to NXT Worlds Collide this Sunday.

Tuesday’s show ended with Ricochet promising to become a two-time North American Champion, challenging Carmelo Hayes. Other matches added include Kayden Carter & Katana Chance vs. Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles, Nathan Frazer vs. Axiom in a best of three rounds match, and a four-way to unify the NXT Tag Team and NXT UK Tag Team titles with Gallus, The Creed Brothers, Briggs & Jensen, and Pretty Deadly squaring off.

Hayes ended Tuesday’s show annoyed he didn’t have an opponent for Worlds Collide. He said he wouldn’t wrestle on the show. Ricochet interrupted and promised to become a two-time champion.

Meanwhile, after Kayden Carter & Katana Chance defeated Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley on Tuesday’s show, Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop came out and challenged the two to a title match. Carter and Chance accepted,

Tuesday’s show also had Gallus defeating Diamond Mine in a match after Roderick Strong caused a distraction, leading Damon Kemp to be pinned. The two teams ended up brawling after the match, later being joined by Pretty Deadly, Briggs & Jensen, and the rest of the NXT locker room.

In a backstage promo, Frazer and Axiom were seen reading comic books. Frazer brought up how Axiom never wrestled in NXT UK as an inside joke, since Axiom wrestled in NXT UK under the name A-Kid. They eventually set up a best of three rounds match.

Here is the card so far for Worlds Collide, which takes place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Sunday:

  • Bron Breakker vs. Tyler Bate for the NXT and NXT UK Championships
  • Mandy Rose vs. Meiko Satomura vs. Blair Davenport for the NXT and NXT UK Women’s Championships
  • Gallus vs. Diamond Mine vs. Briggs & Jensen vs. Pretty Deadly for the NXT and NXT UK Tag Team titles

  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Ricochet for the NXT North American title
  • Nathan Frazer vs. Axiom in a best of three rounds match

The Creed Brothers win NXT Tag Team titles at In Your House

The Creed Brothers won the NXT Tag Team Championships tonight at In Your House.

The Creeds defeated Pretty Deadly tonight to win the titles for the first time. The finish had Julius rejecting using the NXT Tag Team title and instead planted Kit Wilson with a shooting star press. He followed that with a sliding D clothesline for the win.

Pretty Deadly held the titles for 53 days, last defeating the Creed Brothers in a gauntlet match for the vacant titles that took place on the April 12 edition of NXT.

The Creed Brothers won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic earlier this year, earning themselves a Tag Team title match. However, it wasn’t until Stand & Deliver in April where they were able to get their title match, losing a three-way to Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel) and champions MSK.

Despite facing Pretty Deadly on tonight’s show, The Creeds have also been focused on recent tension between themselves and Roderick Strong, the leader of Diamond Mine. He told the Creeds on Tuesday that if they were unable to win the Tag Team titles tonight, they would be out of the group.

Pretty Deadly win Tag Team titles on WWE NXT

Pretty Deadly are the next NXT Tag Team Champions.

Elton Prince and Kit Wilson defeated The Creed Brothers in a five team gauntlet to win the championships for the first time. The Creed Brothers had started the match and by the time Pretty Deadly arrived, they were tired. Despite this, the final match in the gauntlet remained competitive until Pretty Deadly hit a spinebuster/neckbreaker combination to win the titles.

Other teams in the match included Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza of Legado del Fantasma, and Grayson Waller & Sanga.

Pretty Deadly revealed themselves as the newest members of the NXT roster last week after spending weeks harassing The Creed Brothers, including attacking them prior to a NXT Tag Team title match. They are former NXT UK Tag Team Champions and had wrestled on the brand under the names Lewis Howley (Prince) and Sam Stoker (Wilson).

The NXT Tag Team titles were vacated over the weekend following the release of Nash Carter, who was one half of the Tag Team Champions alongside Wes Lee. Carter has been accused by ex-wife Kimber Lee of domestic abuse. Additionally, a photo surfaced of him stylzing his facial hair similar to Adolf Hitler and doing a Nazi pose.

After Carter was released, the company announced that the titles were vacated and a gauntlet match would determine new champions on tonight’s show.

Gauntlet match to determine new WWE NXT Tag Team Champions

WWE has revealed how the next NXT Tag Team Champions will be determined.

A five-team gauntlet match for the vacant NXT Tag Team titles will take place on NXT this Tuesday. Grayson Waller & Sanga, Legado del Fantasma, The Creed Brothers, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, and Pretty Deadly will be the five teams in the match.

The NXT Tag Team titles were declared vacant after Nash Carter (real name Zachary Green) was released by WWE last week. Carter was released after being accused of domestic abuse by his wife Kimber Lee (Kimberly Green), and Lee also posted a picture of Carter impersonating Adolf Hitler and giving a Nazi salute.

Lee alleged that, last year, Carter got wasted and hit her so hard that she split her lip open.

Just four days before Carter’s release, MSK (Carter & Wes Lee) won the NXT Tag Team titles by defeating Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner and The Creed Brothers in a triple threat match at NXT Stand & Deliver.

MSK had been set to defend their titles against Waller & Sanga on NXT this week.

Pretty Deadly, who were formerly members of the NXT UK roster, made their NXT 2.0 debut last Tuesday. They’ve been given new individual names, with Lewis Howley now known as Elton Prince and Sam Stoker now known as Kit Wilson.

Here’s the updated lineup for this week’s NXT:

  • NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes defends against Solo Sikoa
  • NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defends against Dakota Kai
  • Five-team gauntlet match for the vacant NXT Tag Team titles

WWE NXT Tag Team titles vacated, new champions to be crowned

New Tag Team Champions will be crowned on Tuesday’s episode of NXT.

Following the release of Nash Carter, WWE announced today that the NXT Tag Team titles have officially been relinquished. New champions will be crowned on NXT this coming Tuesday, but WWE hasn’t revealed how the new champions will be determined.

“The current NXT Tag Team Champions have relinquished the titles,” WWE wrote. “New champions will be crowned this Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network. Stay tuned to WWE.com and WWE social accounts for updates.”

Carter (real name Zachary Green) was released by WWE after being accused of domestic abuse by his wife Kimber Lee (Kimberly Green). Lee also posted a photo of Carter impersonating Adolf Hitler with his mustache shaved and giving a Nazi salute.

Lee alleged that Carter hit her so hard last year that he split her lip open.

Prior to Carter’s release, MSK (Carter & Wes Lee) won the NXT Tag Team titles by defeating Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) and The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) in a triple threat match at NXT Stand & Deliver last Saturday.

MSK had been scheduled to defend their titles against Grayson Waller & Sanga on NXT next week.

The Creed Brothers defeated Imperium in a tag match on this week’s NXT. During the match, Aichner walked out on Barthel. There was then a post-match angle where The Creed Brothers were attacked by the debuting Pretty Deadly.

MSK win NXT Tag Team titles at Stand & Deliver

MSK are the NXT Tag Team Champions once again.

Nash Carter and Wes Lee defeated Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner) and The Creed Brothers to regain the championships for a second time. The finish of the match had Barthel being cut off by MSK with a frankensteiner into a sitout powerbomb. Carter then covered Barthel to win the titles.

This ends Imperium’s run with the titles after 158 days. They had defeated MSK on the Halloween Havoc episode of NXT that aired on October 26.

The Creed Brothers originally were granted a tag team title match after winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT Vengeance Day in February. However, they were attacked backstage, leading to a new match between MSK and Imperium. Their match ended after The Creed Brothers returned and laid out both teams.

In the last few weeks, The Creed Brothers have been getting mysterious messages, purportedly from the people who attacked them backstage.

Imperium win NXT Tag Team titles at Halloween Havoc

Imperium are the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel are the new champions, defeating MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) at tonight’s NXT Halloween Havoc event. After a back-and-forth competitive match, Aichner pinned Lee after he hit a brainbuster on Lee and after both he and Barthel laid out Lee with an Imperium bomb.

MSK held the NXT Tag Team titles for over 200 days, winning them in a three-way tag team match back at TakeOver: Stand and Deliver on April 7 of this year. This is Imperium’s second reign with the titles, winning them for the first time back in April of last year.

Two other titles changed hands on tonight’s NXT. Mandy Rose pinned Raquel Gonzalez to win the NXT Women’s Championship, and her Toxic Attraction stablemates Gigi Dolan and Jacey Jayne defeated Io Shirai & Zoey Stark and Persia Pirotta & Indi Hartwell in a three-way ladder ladder match to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

Dain & Maverick become number one contenders to NXT Tag Team titles

New number one contenders to the NXT Tag Team titles were decided on tonight’s TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two pre-show.

Killian Dain & Drake Maverick defeated Breezango to become number one contenders on tonight’s pre-show. WWE has not announced when Dain & Maverick will be getting their shot at MSK’s NXT Tag Team titles.

Maverick pinned Tyler Breeze in tonight’s match after hitting a top rope hurricanrana and being powerbombed onto Breeze by Dain.

MSK’s Wes Lee & Nash Carter claimed the vacant NXT Tag Team titles yesterday on night one of TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, defeating Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) and Legado Del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde). The titles had been held previously by Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan, but were vacated after Burch suffered a shoulder injury on the March 17 episode of NXT. William Regal announced that the titles were officially vacated in a tweet on March 23.

Breezango are former NXT Tag Team champs themselves, having held the title from August 2020 to October 2020.

WWE NXT Tag Team titles declared vacant following Burch injury

Due to an injury suffered by Danny Burch, the NXT Tag Team titles have been declared vacant.

Burch & Oney Lorcan retained the NXT Tag Team titles against NXT Champion Finn Balor & Karrion Kross in the main event of last week’s NXT, but Burch suffered a separated shoulder during the match. Medical personnel checked on Burch after the injury and he never returned to the match. After Balor gave Lorcan a dropkick that accidentally knocked Lorcan into Scarlett, Kross attacked Balor. Lorcan then pinned Balor after hitting a running uppercut.

NXT general manager William Regal posted a tweet today confirming Burch’s injury. Regal announced that the NXT Tag Team titles have been vacated. Regal will give a further update on the status of the titles on this Wednesday’s episode of NXT.

“I can confirm this incredibly unfortunate news and make the difficult decision to vacate the #WWENXT Tag Team Titles,” Regal tweeted. “Furthermore, I will address the state of the titles further tomorrow night on @WWENXT.

Burch & Lorcan had been NXT Tag Team Champions since winning the titles from Breezango in October of last year.

MSK won this year’s men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and were next in line for a title shot against Burch & Lorcan. MSK were supposed to get their NXT Tag Team title shot earlier this month, but that match was delayed due to MSK’s Wes Lee suffering a broken hand during the Dusty Classic finals. In storyline, Lee’s injury was blamed on an attack by The Grizzled Young Veterans. MSK had defeated The Grizzled Young Veterans in the Dusty Classic finals.

Imperium defeat Riddle and Thatcher for NXT Tag Team titles

Wednesday’s NXT on USA show kicked off with a title change as Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner) defeated Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher to win the NXT tag team championship.

The beginning of the end started when Riddle monkey flipped Marcel Barthel into the corner, accidentally hitting Thatcher in the process. An incensed Thatcher then walked out on Riddle leaving him to face Imperium two-on-one.

Riddle held his own against both men temporarily, but the numbers game was too much. Barthel and Aichner hit the European Bomb finisher (spinning back elbow from the top rope) for the pin and win, the first NXT gold for either man.

Afterward, Thatcher was doing a promo backstage where he explained that he was tired of Riddle’s antics and Riddle interrupted, resulting in both men needing to be pulled apart. It was later announced that the two will face off later in the show.

Riddle and Pete Dunne had won the titles in February, but with Dunne unable to travel due to the pandemic, Thatcher was put in his place although he was never officially recognized as a champion.

NXT Tag Team title match set for TakeOver: Phoenix

The tag team title match for TakeOver: Phoenix has been set.

General Manager William Regal made the announcement during tonight’s episode of NXT. The War Raiders will get another crack at the Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong.

The War Raiders have been feuding with all of Undisputed Era for the last few months. Back at the September tapings, the duo defeated the champions by DQ. They later squared off inside War Games, where they, Pete Dunne and Ricochet defeated the entire stable.

On tonight’s episode of NXT, the War Raiders made the save for E3 after all of the Undisputed Era jumped following a match against Adam Cole.

The only other matches announced for TakeOver thus far are is the NXT title match between champion Tommaso Ciampa and Aleister Black, as well as Shayna Baszler defending the NXT Women’s championship against Bianca Belair.

NXT TakeOver: Phoenix will take place at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on January 26, one day prior to the Royal Rumble.

Title change at tonight’s NXT TV tapings

Tomasso Ciampa is the new NXT champion.

Ciampa downed Aleister Black in a match that will air on the July 25 edition of NXT. The finish had the referee, Drake Wuertz, take a bump. Johnny Gargano ran in and attacked both Ciampa and Black. Ciampa gained the advantage regardless and was able to pin Black to win the championship. WWE later confirmed the news on their website.

In recent weeks, Ciampa had challenged Black to a title match after defeating Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Chicago last month. On last week’s edition of NXT, Gargano met with Black backstage and told him that Ciampa can’t become NXT champion. When Gargano left, Ciampa jumped Black from behind, laying him out with a draping DDT on the concrete floor.

Black held the title for 102 days, defeating Andrade Cien Almas back at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7.
