WWE NXT live results: Two Women’s title tournament matches

The road to crowning a new NXT Women’s Champion begins tonight.

With Indi Hartwell vacating the title and being called up to Raw, NXT is holding a tournament to decide its new Women’s Champion. The tournament begins tonight with two first-round matches: Gigi Dolin vs. Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria vs. Kiana James.

Roxanne Perez, Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Cora Jade are the other tournament participants. The finals will be held at NXT Battleground on Sunday, May 28.

Gold will be on the line tonight as Gallus defend their NXT Tag Team titles against The Dyad. In addition to that, the show will feature a grudge match between Trick Williams and Bron Breakker.

Ilja Dragunov vs. Dijak, Tyler Bate vs. Charlie Dempsey, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen vs. Hank Walker & Tank Ledger, Eddy Thorpe vs. Damon Kemp, and Duke Hudson vs. Javier Bernal are scheduled for tonight as well. Plus, we’ll hear from Nathan Frazer as he presents a new edition of Hard Hitting Home Truths.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

The show opens with a recap of Indi Hartwell vacating the NXT Women’s Championship. The tournament to determine a new champion starts tonight.

The eight wrestlers in the tournament are lining the aisle ahead of the first match in the tourney. Tiffany Stratton is out to kick off the show, and she also cuts a promo on a pre-taped cutaway. Gigi Dolan also cuts a promo in a pre-tape.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Gigi Dolan to advance in NXT Women’s Championship Tournament

Stratton pinned Dolan to win a quarterfinal match. Stratton advances into the semifinals, where she faces the winner of Jacy Jayne vs. Roxanne Perez.

Stratton works an arm during much of the match, but Dolan fights back. Stratton goes right back to targeting the arm. Stratton then goes for a rolling fireman’s carry slam, but it goes terribly wrong. Dolan takes a ugly bump on the mat. Stratton then executes the “Prettiest Moonsault Ever,” and Stratton covers Dolan for a pinfall.

Gallus is heading to the ring to defend their NXT Tag Team Championship. Meanwhile, The Schism is gathered to send The Dyad into battle. The Dyad head for the ring. Joe Gacy stays behind, taking Ava’s advice to focus more on himself. Gacy tells Ava to guide The Dyad as he would in his place.

Trick Williams is at the barber shop with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Those gathered in the barber shop give Williams a send-off as he leaves for his match tonight, when Williams will face Bron Breakker in the main event. Williams calls it his biggest test.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang with Joe Coffey) defeated The Dyad (Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid with Ava) to retain their titles

Gallus is strong out of the gates as the fighting breaks out before the bell sounds to start the match. They wrestle through a split-screen commercial break. The Dyad were running wild when the show cut to commercials, and they were getting a near fall when the show returns from the break.

Suddenly, there is a wacky backstage skit with Diamond Mine. They are watching the match on monitors, and The Creed Brothers are joking around by wearing blue masks that mock the ones worn by The Schism. Ivy Nile is having none of that, and she snaps the masks on the Creeds’ face. She yells at them to quit messing around. Then, back to the tag match inside the soundstage.

Ava causes a distraction, which causes Nile to run in and jump Ava at ringside. The Creeds run out and try to pry Nile off Ava. The two women brawl on the floor, while Gallus is in the ring executing their tandem finisher. Wolfgang then covers Reid for a pinfall.

A mysterious teaser on the show gives me Black Scorpion vibes. It is more likely a character makeover of sorts for Wendy Choo.

Duke Hudson (with Thea Hail) defeated Javier Bernal

Hudson pinned Bernal in a glorified enhancement match. It was set up with a skit before the match where Bernal disrespects Chase U. Thea Hail steals the scene in that skit. Andre Chase is not there as he was written off the show, but his character is still mentioned in the skit.

Bernal is getting heat on Hudson, and Hudson hulks up like The Hulkster in ’86, brother. Hudson also does a Dusty Rhodes flip, flop and fly. Hudson also does a German suplex where he jumps into the ring from the apron to execute the suplex. For the finish, Hudson gives Bernal a Razor’s Edge, and Hudson covers him for a three count.

Mr. Stone is bonding with Von Wagner when Stone again brings up a childhood picture of Wagner in the hospital. A geek nearby cracks a joke about Wagner related to the photo. Wagner snaps and guzzles the unnamed geek.

A backstage confrontation between The Creeds and Gallus seems to set up a tag title match in the near future.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Damon Kemp

Thorpe pinned Kemp in what Vic Joseph on commentary called a “hard fought win.” That was the story of the match, but it was not exactly an exciting match. Thorpe made a comeback as they went home, and he gives Kemp a German suplex. Thorpe follows up with a leaping elbow drop, and Thorpe covers Kemp for a pin.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Kiana James ahead of her tournament match later tonight. James has her sights set on the women’s title.

After a commercial break, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Bron Breakker in his locker room. Breakker heels on Mitchell. Breakker then threatens to put Trick Williams in the hospital just like he did with Carmelo Hayes.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Dijak via disqualification

Dijak hit Dragunov with a metal folding chair for the DQ.

The match starts as a slobberknocker as they exchange vicious chops like this was Wahoo McDaniel vs. Ric Flair, but maybe even more stiff. The battle on from there. Dijak gets a nearfall on a high kick, and a frustrated Dijak then takes a folding chair from the timekeeper.

An angry Dijak brings the chair in to the ring. The referee pleads with Dijak to ditch the chair, but Dijak instead gives Dragunov a chair shots. Dragunov feeds him his back for more shots from the chair, but the carnage is not over.

At ringside, Dijak traps Dragunov underneath the ring steps. Dijak then stands on the steps as Dragunov sells like his being choked by the steps. Usually, the steps are in two pieces, but here they were attached as one piece to facilitate the angle.

Charlie Dempsey (with Drew Gulak) defeated Tyler Bate (with NXT North American Champion Wes Lee)

Dempsey pinned Bate after interference by both Joe Gacy and Gulak. Gacy comes to ringside during the match, and he gets into argument with Lee and Gulak. Bate does a dives over the ropes to the floor that wipes out Gulak and Gacy. A moment later, Gulak causes a distraction, which allows Gacy to clobber Bate. Dempsey then uses a Dragon suplex and a bridge to pin Bate for a three count.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Dragon Lee, who begins to talk about Noam Dar. Dragon Lee interrupts Dar with a video message. Dar invites Dragon Lee to be a guest on Dar’s Supernova Sessions talk show. Dragon Lee says he will be there.

Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen (with Fallon Henley) defeated Hank Walker & Tank Ledger

Briggs pinned Tank in a hard-hitting slobberknocker.

Hank & Tank brings the fight to the Briggs & Jensen, but Briggs & Jensen soon fight back with tandem offense. They are all smacking leather and throwing haymakers. Tank apparently lost a tooth, but not to fret, he spat it out and put it in his singlet for safe keeping.

Tank then takes a Hart Attack finisher from Briggs & Jensen. Briggs then covers Tank for the deciding pinfall. The two teams exchange fist bumps after the match in show of sportsmanship.

Hard Hitting Home Truths with Nathan Frazier talks about the international talent on the NXT roster in a wacky news magazine segment. This reminded me of the defunct Talk Soup show on E! decades ago, mixed with a Sean Mooney Event Center segment from the old episode of Superstars.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Kiana James to advance in the NXT Women’s Championship Tournament

Valkyria pinned James in a quarterfinal match. Valkyria now advances to face Tiffany Stratton in the semifinals.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break. James works over Valkyria throughout the bout, until Valkyria begins a comeback. James cuts off Valkyria, and James gets a near fall with a Last Ride powerbomb. Valkyria comes back with a counter and a roundhouse kick. Valkyria then scores a pinfall.

In a skit at a pub, Tony D’Angelo and Stacks want a tag title shot against Gallus. Joe Coffey takes exception to Tony D and Stacks wanting the next title shot. Coffey basically threatens The Family with a club. Tony D warns him about such things, but Stacks points out they are outnumbered. The Family leave, but something tells me this story is far from done.

Bron Breakker defeated Trick Williams

Breakker submitted Williams with a Steiner Recliner. Carmelo Hayes runs in after the match to make a save Williams from a post-match beating, but Hayes himself catches a beating instead.

Breakker is a heel, so gone are the colorful singlets. He now rocks a solid black singlet with lettering outlined in white. His name on the front and “MEANER THAN EVIL” written on the back.

In the match itself, Williams was on a roll at the start. Williams boots Breakker out of the ring. They fight on the floor, and Williams looks to send Breakker flying into the timekeeper’s area. Breakker counters, and he backdrops Williams on the announce desk.

Breakker has cut off William’s momentum, and Breakker begins to maul him. Breakker goes for a pin at on point, but he breaks the count to do push-ups as a taunt.

Williams gets a hope spot, but Breakker dashes the hope with a Steiner powerslam. Breakker toys with Williams and taunt him some more. Willaims fires back and catches Breakker with a neckbreaker.

Double down leads to them trading strikes. Williams with a rally and he does a short-arm uranage slam for a near fall. Breakker then blocks a wind-up kick, and Breakker does his military press/powerslam combo.

Wiliams has more fight left in him. He again goes for a wind-up kick, but Breakker mows down Williams with a spear. Breakker pulls down the straps on his singlet, and Breakker applies the Steiner Recliner. Williams taps out, and Breakker wins via submission.

Breakker again applies the Recliner after the match is over. Out comes NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, who in an earlier skit left the barber shop to be in Williams’ corner. Hayes rushes into the ring to make a save. However, Breakker cuts down Hayes out of mid-air with a spear. Hayes went for a springboard off the middle rope, and Breakker speared him.

Breakker stands over Hayes and talks trash while holding the title belt overhead. Breakker throws the belt down on Hayes, and Breakker poses in a defiant stance as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Women’s Tag Team title match

With the WWE Draft now over, changes are coming to NXT.

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell, NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn, Apollo Crews, JD McDonagh, Zoey Stark, Von Wagner, Pretty Deadly, Katana Chance & Kayden Carter, Cameron Grimes, Grayson Waller, Indus Sher, Odyssey Jones, and Xyon Quinn are all moving on from NXT after being included in the draft.

The new WWE rosters will take effect after this weekend’s Backlash pay-per-view.

Before both teams depart NXT, Fyre & Dawn will defend their Women’s Tag Team titles against Chance & Carter tonight.

McDonagh is also set for his final NXT match. He issued an open challenge that was accepted by Dragon Lee.

A North American Championship match with Wes Lee defending against Drew Gulak has been announced for tonight. The show is also set to feature a grudge match between Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, Joe Gacy vs. Joe Coffey, Axiom vs. Scrypts, and the debut of Dani Palmer.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show begins with a recap of the recent draft, where a group of NXT wrestlers join the main roster on either Raw or Smackdown.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee (with Tyler Bate) defeated Drew Gulak (with Charlie Dempsey) to retain his title

Lee pinned Gulak in a match that was just getting good when they went home. All they needed was more time.

Dempsey got involved early on by distracting Lee, which allowed Gulak to get a near fall. Lee soon fought back, and they tease a superplex. Instead, Lee flips backwards off the top rope and rolls through, only to get met by a flying lariat off the top. Gulk then grounds Lee on the mat.

Moments later, a slugfest gives way to a comeback by Lee. He goes on to fly through the ropes with a tope. Dempsey interferes again by pulling Lee off the apron. Bate leaps in to make the save as he springs off the ring steps with a flying uppercut.

For the finish, Lee jumps back into the ring to deliver his Cardiac Kick. Gulak then takes the fall as Lee covers him for a three count.

A video package recaps an angle from last week on NXT television where Bron Breakker speared NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes through a gimmicked wall in a stunt.

NXT Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre are using a Ouija board to for a promo about their title defense later tonight.

Trick Williams is heading to the ring for a monologue. Williams talked about being friends with Hayes since high school. Williams goes on to say he took a spear for Hayes last week (which he did before the stunt where Hayes is speared through the wall). Williams says he would do it again.

Williams mentions Bron Breakker’s name, and out comes Breakker to interrupt. This will set up a match between Williams and Breakker on the go-home show ahead of NXT Battleground. Breakker confronts Williams in the ring. Williams asks if Breakker is accepting Hayes’ challenge for a title match at Battleground. Breakker not only accepts, he talks about how he will embarrass Hayes in Hayes’ hometown in front of his friends and family.

Breakker goes to leave, but Williams says not so fast. Williams challenges Breakker to a match, and Williams to fight right here and now. Breakker heels on him and books the match for next week.

JD McDonagh in being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when Noam Dar interrupts to ask if McDonagh would injury Dragon Lee. Dar wants to protect his Heritage Cup, but McDonagh threatens to take it from Dar if he does not leave McDonagh alone.

Jacy Jayne defeated Gigi Dolan

Jayne pinned Dolan, and a bloody Jayne also attacked Dolan again after the match. Jayne was busted open just before they went home.

Dolan’s little brother, Miles, is watching from the front row. Jayne taunts him during the match, and Dolan embraces him later in the match. He also has to watch Jayne assault his sister after the match.

A cover on the actual turnbuckle itself is removed during the match, and it comes into play for the finish. Jayne smashed Dolan into the exposed turnbuckle, and Jayne follows up with a pump kick. She then covers Dolan for a pinfall.

Jayne delivers another pump kick after the bell, and she attacks Dolan for a post-match beatdown. Jayne smashed Dolan into the ring steps, she puts the boot to her, and Jayne taunts Dolan’s brother.

Axiom defeated Scrypts

Axiom pinned and unmasked Scrypts in a match that was short but good. Scrypts is Reggie.

Lot of flying and high spots, but they also told a little story. The epilogue to that story includes Scrypts being unmasked by Axiom after the match. Scrypts was dominating early on when Axiom fought from underneath.

Scrypts leaps off the top rope, and Axiom cuts him down with a kick. Golden Ratio by Axiom a second later, and Axiom covers Scrypts for a pinfall. Axiom is then unmasked after the match.

A skit in Fallon Henley’s bar shows Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen are best buds again, and the band is back together. Women hit on Jensen, and Henley remarks that Jensen is all grown up. Too bad his character barely evolved aside from no longer being a virgin. Women are attracted to him now according to this skit, so there is that. Good for him.

JD McDonagh defeated Dragon Lee

McDonagh pinned Lee, in what was billed was McDonagh’s last match in NXT. They had a banger. Noam Dar interfered just before the finish. Dar and Dragon Lee brawled after the match.

Hard-hitting match went through a commercial break, as a match on this show is finally given enough time this week. Because of that, this became the best match on the show so far tonight. McDonagh is working over Lee when the show returns from the break.

Dragon Lee makes a comeback, setting up a tope con hilo. Lee then leaps off the top with a double foot stomp for a near fall. That double stomp is common in a Dragon Lee match, but I was somewhat surprised to see that in WWE as its Finn Balor’s finisher.

McDonagh later cuts off Dragon Lee, and McDonagh gives Dragon Lee a Spicolli Driver on the ring apron. That led to them teasing a countout, but Lee barely breaks the count to continue the match. Lee with a second comeback gives McDonagh a snap dragon and a poison rana. McDonagh cuts off Lee again, turning Lee for a flip with a lariat.

They trade strikes down the home stretch. Liger bomb by Dragon Lee for another near fall. They fight while perched on the turnbuckles, setting up a Spanish Fly where McDonagh gets the upper hand. McDonagh then delivers a brainbuster for a the closest and best near fall of the match.

Canadian Destroyer spikes McDonagh, and McDonagh rolls out of the ring. Lee goes to retrieve McDonagh, and Noam Dar interferes with Lee. So, Lee drops Dar with a superkick. However, the distraction was enough to cost Lee the match. McDonagh head butts Lee, and then comes The Devil Inside suplex. McDonagh then covers Dragon Lee for a three count.

Joe Gacy (with The Schism) defeated Joe Coffey (with Gallus)

Gacy pinned Coffey in a battle of the Joes, thanks in large part to interference by The Schism.

The Dyad interfere at ringside when Rip Fowler puts Gacy’s foot on the rope to break a count. Mark Coffey and Wolfgang then chase The Dyad around ringside, and the two teams brawl.

Amidst the melee at ringside, Ava jumps into the ring like she is about the jump Coffey. He turns around to confront her, and Ava does an Eddie Guerrero phantom bump acting like Coffey hit her. That distraction allowed Gacy to execute his Upside Down clothesline finisher, and he covers Coffey for a pinfall.

Dani Palmer defeated Tatum Paxley

Palmer pinned Paxley after an Art Bar frog splash. Palmer wins in her “debut” match on NXT television, and she was pushed strong.

Andre Chase is not in class to teach his class, after he was written off the show last week in a loss against Bron Breakker. Thea Hail is freaking out about what to do about Mr. Chase, and Duke Hudson has an idea. He will teach the class, and his first order under his leadership is to rip up the pop quiz.

Von Wagner and Mr. Stone are looking at Wagner’s family photo album. They discuss some pictures of Wagner father (Wayne Bloom) in a tag match at SummerSlam inside Wembley Stadium. That was ironic given that tickets for AEW in that same stadium went on sale today.

Wagner gets angry and shuts down when Stone sees a childhood pic of Wagner with stitches on his head. Wagner does not want to discuss it, much to Stone’s dismay. Stone continues to want Wagner to open up to him, but Wagner is reluctant. No sure where this is going, but it at least give Wagner’s character some depth.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre  defeated Kayden Carter & Katana Chance to retain the titles

Dawn pins Chance to win the match. The champs retain on their way out of NXT. What happens to the titles is anyone’s guess, so the champs are heading to Smackdown.

This match goes through a split-screen commercial break. Chance & Carter are on a roll until the show returns from the break. Soon thereafter, Chance is cut off and she is briefly worked over. Chance makes her own comeback, and she tags Carter so they can execute their tandem finisher for a near fall. Moments later, Carter & Chance use a Spanish Fly for another near fall.

As they go home, Chance & Carter again attempt their tandem finisher, but they are thwarted. Dawn & Fyre then execute a tandem finisher of their own, and Dawn covers Chance to win the match and retain the titles. The announcers on commentary sell it like the women’s tag title are headed to Smackdown.

Dijak in a pre-taped montage issues a dire warning to Ilja Dragunov.

Apollo Crews, who is headed back to the main roster, offers Trick Williams some encouraging words.

Indi Hartwell vacates the NXT Women’s Championship

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell heads to the ring to address the audience. Hartwell is walking with a crutch and the title belt draped over her shoulder. Her right foot is in a walking cast. She reflects on her time in NXT, and she talks about getting drafted to the main roster.

Hartwell also announces that next week a tournament begins to crown a new NXT Women’s Champion, which culminates in four weeks at Battleground. Hartwell vacates the title. She kisses the belt before laying it in the center of the ring.

Hartwell jokes that now she has to figure out how to get out of the ring (since she is walking with a crutch). Dexter Lumis pops out from underneath the ring, and he carries Hartwell backstage with her in his arms. There are smiles and thumbs up a plenty between the two as this ends like a rom-com, if a rom-com ended with a wild brawl.

Tiffany Stratton suddenly appears in the ring. She picks up the title belt, and in comes Cora Jade. They are having a tug-of-war with the belt when a bunch of women on the NXT roster run in for a big brawl. The show ends with bedlam as the women brawl in the ring. The ending reminds me of a go-home show for the Royal Rumble, but its only May.

WWE NXT Spring Breakin’ live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller

NXT’s top two championships will both be defended on tonight’s Spring Breakin’ episode.

After becoming champion at Stand & Deliver, Carmelo Hayes will make his first title defense against Grayson Waller. Waller defeated Dragon Lee, Duke Hudson, and JD McDonagh in a number one contender’s fatal four-way match two weeks ago to earn the title shot.

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell will put her title on the line as she defends against Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton in a triple threat match tonight. Hartwell also became champion at Stand & Deliver, winning the title in a six-way ladder match.

The first-ever trunk match takes place tonight when Tony D’Angelo & Stacks take on Pretty Deadly. The first team that puts their opponents in the trunk of a car will be declared the winner.

A mixed tag team match between Fallon Henley & Josh Briggs and Kiana James & Brooks Jensen is set for tonight. The show will also feature Cora Jade vs. Lyra Valkyria and Bron Breakker vs. Andre Chase.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show begins with introductory video package with the NXT roster partying for spring break. They play games, cookout, have fun, and they also run down the card for tonight. Fun stuff that was very whimsical.

Opening the show live from the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando is a tag team gimmick match. Similar to an ambulance match or a casket match, a team wins the opening match by putting their opponents in the trunk of car and closing the trunk. In this case, the car is a custom 1947 Dodge classic. It is very fitting of Tony D’s mafia gimmick. The car itself belongs to Stacks’ uncle.

Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo defeated Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) in a trunk match

Tony D and Stacks put Pretty Deadly in the trunk to win the match, and then The Family kidnap Pretty Deadly by driving away with them still trapped in the trunk.

The trunk match begins with a melee, and weapons are soon in play. Yet, this was not overly violent. It was more campy. The bumps likely still hurt nonetheless. Besides a literal wheelbarrow full of gimmicks, there are folding chairs and trash cans, and also a kiddie pool full of balls like it was the miniature ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese.

The match goes through a split-screen commercial break after Elton Prince takes a backdrop into the kiddie pool. The violence and use of weapons intensifies after the show returns from the break. Less campy and more ECW. Pretty Deadly soon the upper hand, and they punish Tony D and Stacks.

Stacks is hung upside down in the tree-of-woe. Moments later, Stacks takes Pretty Deadly’s Split Milk finisher on the floor, and Pretty Deadly put Stacks in the trunk and close it. Pretty Deadly go back and they attempt to put D’Angelo in the trunk.

When Prince opens the trunk to thrown in D’Angelo, Stacks is waiting with a fire extinguisher. Stacks sprays Prince with the fire extinguisher, and Prince sells big. A blinded Prince is then put through a table with the Bada Bing Bada Boom finisher. Kit Wilson is hit with a crowbar by Tony D, and he happens to stagger into the trunk. Stacks and D’Angelo then put Prince in the trunk alongside Wilson, and the trunk is shut. The Family win the first-ever trunk match in WWE.

Tony D and Stacks then get into the classic car, and they drive away with Pretty Deadly still inside the trunk.

Tiffany Stratton cuts a promo ahead of her challenging for the NXT Women’s Championship in a triple threat match later tonight.

Duke Hudson gives Andre Chase a pep talk ahead match that is up next. Hudson clutches his MVP trophy like Owen Hart did his Slammys.

Bron Breakker defeated Andre Chase (with Duke Hudson)

Breakker submits Chase with a Steiner Recliner. Breakker mauls Chase from the start. Chase does get a hope spot when Breakker crashes his shoulder into a ring post. Chase targets the arm, but then he pauses to signal for his version of a Garvin Stomp. Terrible mistake, as Breakker cuts off Chase and levels him with a lariat. Breakker does his military press/powerslam combo, and then he locks in the Steiner Recliner to win via submission.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is the focus of a video package hyping tonight’s title match.

Dijak assualts and attempts to maim Ilja Dragunov in a backstage skit. McKenzie Mitchell is backstage at the scene of the kidnapping from earlier, where The Family drove away with Pretty Deadly trapped in the trunk of a classic car. Mitchell is reporting on the kidnapping when she interrupted by Dijak and Dragunov brawling onto the scene. Dijak pummels Dragunov, and Dijak then closes a roll-up door on Dragunov’s torso.

Cora Jade defeated Lyra Valkyria

The match goes through a commercial break, and Jade is working over Valkyria when the show returns from the break. Valkyria makes a comeback, until Jade cuts her off again. Jade then retrieves her kendo stick and threatens to use it. The referee and Jade have a tug-of-war with the kendo stick, when Valkyria throws a spin kick. I guess she was supposed to kick the stick by mistake, but that was botched. Jade then gives Valkyria a terrible chop block to the knee. Jade follows up with a DDT, and she covers Valyria for a pinfall.

D’Angelo and Stacks are riding around in the classic car while Pretty Deadly are beating on the trunk. D’Angelo has Stacks go check on them, and Stacks supposedly slams the trunk on their heads. The Family then drive away again with Pretty Deadly still in the trunk.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeated Grayson Waller to retain his title

Hayes pinned Waller after a flying legdrop. Waller appeared to injure himself during the finish. Hayes calls out Bron Breakker after the match, and Breakker brawls with Hayes before spearing Hayes through a wall in a stunt.

The champ looks strong in the opening moments of the match, but he is eventually tricked by Waller. When Waller throws a chair into the ring, it distracts the referee and Hayes. Trick Williams runs around the ring to intercept Waller, and Waller hits Williams with a chair shot. Hayes rushes to Williams, but it was a trap. Waller cuts off Hayes and levels him with a clothesline on the floor.

The pace quickens after a commercial break. Some wild and wacky bumps by Waller as he does his best Curt Hennig flip bump. Probably should leave that to Mr. Perfect. Hayes also takes some crazy bumps at times during this match. They bumped their butts off.

Waller gets a close near fall. Moments later, Waller executes an Ace Crusher, but Hayes rolls out of the ring before Waller can capitalize. To set up another near fall, Waller jumps off the top rope with a flying elbow that puts Hayes through the announce desk. Hayes still manages to kick out when he is rolled back into the ring.

As they are going home, Waller gets a running start for his signature spot where he flips into the ring. He appears to hurt his ring ankle as he leaps into the ring. Hayes gives him a superkick that misses by a lot. Waller still gets into a position for the finish as Hayes climbs the turnbuckles. Hayes leaps off the top rope with a guillotine legdrop, and Hayes covers Waller for a three count. Waller seems clearly ready to get out of there as he no-sells as soon as he three count is done, and he pushes Hayes off of him.

Hayes grabs a microphone and calls out Bron Breakker after the match. Hayes challenges Breakker to a title match at NXT Battleground on May 28. Breakker’s theme music rings through the soundstage. Hayes and Williams look towards the stage awaiting the former champ. Breakker ambushes them with a blindside attack.

Breakker spears Williams, and Hayes is thrown out of the ring. Breakker puts Williams in the Steiner Recliner, and Breakker then leaves Williams laid out. Breakker sets his sights on Hayes at ringside. Breakker gets a running start and spears Hayes through a gimmicked wall.

Roxanne Perez in a pre-taped promo talks about being inspired by women wrestlers when she was a child. Perez says she wears bows in her hair to represent all the girls that she hopes to inspire.

A backstage skit sets up a singles match next week with a tag team title stipulation. Joe Gacy and Ava approach Joe Coffey with an offer. They want a fair title match for The Dyad against NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus. Gacy proposes a singles match with him against Joe Coffey. If Gacy wins, The Dyad get a title shot. If Coffey wins, The Dyad will never get another title shot ever.

Josh Briggs & Fallon Henley defeated Brooks Jensen & Kiana James in a mixed tag team match

Briggs pinned Jensen to win the match after a mishap with James. She dumps Jensen after the match, and Jensen reconciles with Briggs.

Jensen has new gear to go along with his new look. He and Briggs have a hoss fight at various times. The announcers sell it like these are brothers having a fight to settle their issues.

James throws in her loaded purse for Jensen to use as a weapon. Briggs dodges the purse, and Jensen is supposed to hit Briggs by mistake. Jensen missed by a country mile, but James sells it anyway as she takes a bump off the apron. James screams at Jensen for mishap, which distracts Jensen. Briggs then delivers an Ax Bomber lariat, and Briggs covers Jensen for a pinfall.

In a post-match angle, Jensen reassures James that they are at least still together. An angry James goes to slap Jensen, but Jensen block it. Jensen with a look of heartbreak on his face asks why James would hit him if she loves him. James looks him dead in the eye and says she never loved him. James then walks away, and Jensen is heartbroken. Briggs embraces Jensen, and they are apparently cool with each other again.

Dragon Lee in a backstage interview with McKenzie Mitchell talks about the Heritage Cup. Scrypts then suddenly appears with a cryptic promo where he is perched on a ledge in the rain like he is Batman.

Oba Femi defeated Oro Mensah

Femi in his in-ring debut on NXT television pinned Mensah to win a glorified enhancement match. Femi did not exactly squash Mensah, by Femi won handily. Mensah targets an arm at one point, only to eat an elbow. Femi then delivers a pop-up powerbomb, and Femi covers Mensah for a pinfall.

Gigi Dolan goes to the announce desk and takes Vic Joseph’s headset away from him. She puts on the headset to cut a promo on Jacy Jayne. Dolan challenges Jayne to a match next week, and Dolan brother will be a ringside to watch Dolan fight for her family’s honor.

Drew Gulak, alongside Charlie Dempsey, vows to beat Wes Lee and win the NXT North American Championship. Later in a backstage skit, Lee agrees to let Tyler Bate be in his corner for the title match.

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell defeated Roxanne Perez and Tiffany Stratton in a triple treat match to retain her title

Hartwell pinned Perez in a weak finish, which was likely the result of an apparent injury Hartwell suffered earlier in the match.

This is yet another match that goes through a commercial break. The shows cuts to a break just as the title bout begins.

There looks to be some potatoes in this match at times. There was also apparently an injury to Indi Hartwell, when she and Perez base for Stratton on a swan dive to the floor. Hartwell’s right leg folds up underneath her, and she unlaces her boot as a trainer comes to ringside to check on her. That leaves Stratton and Perez in a one-on-one match for a few minutes. Stratton applies a chinlock for a rest hold while they regroup.

Stratton and Perez continue the match until Hartwell rejoins them. Perez carries things, and they set up a high spot. Perez does a Super Frankensteiner off the ropes for a near fall on Stratton.

Hartwell limps to the ring to break up a pinning attempt by Perez, and Hartwell rejoins the match. Hartwell sort of runs wild, or as wild as she can with an injury to one leg.

As they go home, Stratton does a Christopher Daniels’ moonsault. She goes for a cover on Perez, but Hartwell pulls Stratton out of the ring. Hartwell then staggers into the ring, and she does a weak version of her finisher. Hartwell then covers Perez to win the match and retain her title.

The show-long kidnapping ends with murder, as Tony D’Angelo and Stacks drive out to the water’s edge. They are on a pier where they apparently have thrown Pretty Deadly into the water. Tony D says Pretty Deadly is “history.” D’Angelo says their next goal is the tag team titles. They get into the car and drive away as the show ends with a camera shot of the water glistening in the moonlight. The cliffhanger is a homicide.

This show is a mixed bag with some good wrestling, some bad wrestling and some wacky stuff in between. An entire episode of Botchamania can be devoted to this show.

WWE NXT live results: Number one contender’s fatal four-way

A fatal four-way match on tonight’s NXT will determine the first challenger for Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship.

Two of the fatal four-way participants have been confirmed, while the two others remain a mystery. The match will feature Dragon Lee, JD McDonagh, and two wrestlers who have yet to be announced.

The winner will get their title shot against Hayes on the upcoming Spring Breakin’ special episode of NXT.

Hayes defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Stand & Deliver to win the NXT Championship. Though Breakker initially showed respect to Hayes after the loss, he attacked both Hayes and Trick Williams on NXT last week.

After losing the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles at Stand & Deliver, Fallon Henley & Kiana James will get their rematch against Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn tonight.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Sol Ruca, an appearance by Cora Jade, a Chase U MVP ceremony for Duke Hudson, and Ilja Dragunov vs. Von Wagner have also been announced for the episode. If Wagner loses, Mr. Stone will no longer be his manager.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Opening the show is HIM. NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes, flanked by Trick Williams, enters the soundstage in Orlando to kick off the show with an in-ring promo.

Hayes cuts a promo on Bron Breakker, after Hayes was attacked with a cheap shot by Breakker last week. Hayes offers Breakker a spot in the fatal four-way set for later tonight, which determine a new number one contender.

Dragon Lee interrupts Hayes. Dragon Lee says Hayes wants a rematch with Breakker, but Dragon Lee vows to be the next challenger for the title at Spring Breakin’. Hayes tells Lee he will give him a break because he is new here. Hayes and Williams then warn Lee to never interrupt the champion again. They are all then interrupted again by someone else, as seems to be the trend tonight.

Out comes JD McDonagh, and he talks tough. Hayes at first puts him over like he did Dragon Lee, but Hayes then makes a leprechaun joke about McDonagh.

Grayson Waller saunters out for yet another interruption. Waller reveals he is the third participant in the fatal four-way later on. Waller is cocky and full of himself as usual.

Hayes ends the talking segment by saying he sees a lot of them, but there is only one HIM.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre defeated Fallon Henley & Kiana James to retain their titles

In a skit before the match, Henley and James are arguing backstage when Josh Briggs plays peacemaker, trying to get them to focus on regaining the tag titles. James tells Henley she doesn’t need the goodie two-shoes version of Henley, she needs the “yee-haw bitch” version of Henley.

Brooks Jensen is noticeably absent, and James says he is mad at Henley and Briggs. Jensen arrives at the building as the match gets underway, and he soon rushes to the ring.

The match goes through a commercial break. Hot tag to Henley after the show returns from the break. Moments later, Henley piledrives Fyre with a Canadian Destroyer.

Double down in the ring as Jensen runs in. He grabs James’ bag, much to the chagrin of Briggs. Jensen gets into the ring with the bag, and he tries giving it to Henley to use illegally. Jensen screams at Henley to hit her opponent with the bag, but Henley throws the bag back at Jensen.

Henley screams at Jensen as the referee turns around. The ref sees Jensen with the bag, and the ref ejects Jensen. Meanwhile, Henley is screaming at Jensen to get out. Briggs comes over to Jensen and puts his hand on Jensen’s shoulder. An angry Jensen shoves Briggs down.

Henley is too distracted with drama at ringside, and Henley eats a kick from Dawn. Henley takes a backstabber, and then Fyre jumps off the top rope with a swanton. Fyre then pins Henley, and the champs retain their titles.

A vignette highlights Noam Dar. He cuts a promo bragging on himself for being the Heritage Cup Champion.

Bron Breakker crashes the Chase U MVP ceremony

Andre Chase opens the ceremony by introducing Duke Hudson as the most valuable player at Chase U. Chase admits that he and Hudson have not always get along, but Chase starts talking about how they fight together. Chase almost drops an f-bomb, but his students stop him.

Hudson says he does not like award ceremonies because he does not like the spotlight on himself. Hudson then goes on to brag on himself. Hudson says it was a group effort, he just merely let the way. Hudson says he is the MVP of Chase U, and Hudson leads to live studio audience in spelling out C-H-A-S-E-U.

Just as the crowd participation is over, Bron Breakker is suddenly at ringside. Breakker interrupts the award ceremony. Breakker begins waxing about Hayes wanting him in the fatal four-way later on, but Breakker says he realizes that the NXT Championship is a curse on his career

Breakker heels on the audience, adding he no longer needs approval from “these scumbags anymore.” Breakker caution that we are going to see a side of him we have never seen before. Breakker then offers Hudson his chance at taking the final spot in the number one contender’s fatal four-way.

Breakker goes to leave, but he turns around and hits Andre Chase with a spear. Hudson goes to protect his MVP trophy, and he bails out of the ring clutching the trophy. Thea Hail is checking on Chase as Breakker grabs the Chase U flag. Breakker rips the flag, and he breaks the flagpole over his knee. Breakker stands over a fallen Chase.

A great vignette profiles Gigi Dolan. She goes back to her childhood home, where she ran away from at an early age. Dolan relates it with her feud to Jacy Jayne.

Tony D’Angelo and Stacks assault Pretty Deadly in broad daylight, and they kidnap Kit Wilson.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Javier Bernal

Thorpe (Karl Fredericks) pinned Bernal after a twisting neckbreaker. They had a competitive match, but Thorpe eventually gets the win. Damon Kemp comes down to ringside, presumably scouting Thorpe. That looks to be Thorpe’s first program in NXT.

In a backstage skit, Schism confronts Gallus. The Dyad challenge Gallus to a NXT Tag Team Championship match.

Scrypts in a vignette has a warns Axiom be is going to “expose” him.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Sol Ruca

Stratton pinned Ruca after a Christopher Daniels’ Best Moonsault Ever. This was definitely a developmental match.

Both Ruca and Stratton continue to rapidly improve in the ring, but they could have used a veteran here to help carry things. This match starts off well, but things get very indie by the end. Looks like they are just running through spots.

Duke Hudson is backstage getting pumped up for the fatal four-way later on tonight. Andre Chase is selling the spear from earlier, and Thea Hail is a ball of energy.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Diamond Mine. Ivy Nile requested this time, and The Creed Brothers challenge Gallus to a tag title match. As the Diamond Mine leave, in walks Tiffany Stratton. She says another victory for the “center of the universe,” meaning herself. Stratton wonders out loud while she is not the number one contender. Stratton even says she beat the champion, Indi Hartwell, on three occasions before Hartwell won the title.

Lyra Valkyria confronts Cora Jade

Cora Jade goes to the ring for a monologue. Jade says she returned last week to find the NXT women division is “flipped upside down.” Jade goes on to insult Zoey Stark, saying Stark will always be the challenger and never the champion.

Jade then claims she put Roxanne Perez “on the map” when she helped put the tag titles on her. Jade also claims Perez uses her past as a crutch, Jade transitions into a promo on Gigi Dolan. Jade tells Dolan to get out of here and “don’t let the door hit your Instagram-famous ass on the way out.”

Instagram also makes Jade think of Tiffany Stratton. Jade warns Stratton that Jade runs things her in NXT, not Stratton. Jade move on to Lyra Valkyria. Jade gives credit to Valkyria for showing no fear in the recent ladder match, but Jade says Valkyria should fear her.

The last person that Jade brings up is the current women’s champ, Indi Hartwell. Jade says this his her NXT, and she is the hero of the story.

Valkyria interrupts the monologue, and she confronts Jade in the ring. This leads to a brawl between the two. Valkyria warns Jade to not go near the title picture, and Jade in turn slaps Valkyria on the face. The brawl is on from there. Jade flees the ring, and they end with a staredown.

After a commercial break, there is another interview segment with McKenzie Mitchell. Would you believe there is yet another interruption. This time NXT North American Champion Wes Lee is interrupted by Charlie Dempsey and Drew Gulak. This would seem to plant the seed for a future title match.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Dragunov pinned Wagner, so Mr. Stone is no longer the manger for Wagner per the stipulations of this match. In unrelated news, Dijak confronts Dragunov after the match.

Wagner is fairly dominate for much of the match, and he works over Dragunov. Yet, Dragunov fights back. Dragunov signals for his finisher, and he delivers his running uppercut. Dragunov then covers Wagner for a pinfall.

Mr. Stone is seemingly in shock at ringside. Seconds later, Dijak comes out to confront Dragunov. They have a cartoonish staredown.

Tank Ledger is backstage preparing for his debut match. Hank Walker gives him a pep talk.

Joe Coffey (with Gallus) defeated Tank Ledger

Coffey pinned Ledger in a hoss fight. This was Ledger debut match on NXT television. Ledger is the stage name for former Northwestern University football player Joe Spivak, who was recruited by WWE after his college career. Aside from doing a clean job, Ledger looked good in his debut.

When the fight spills outside, Coffey sends Ledger crashing into the ring steps. Coffey winds up to deliver a discus lariat, and then Coffey lands another just before scoring the pinfall.

NXT Tag Team Champions Mark Coffey and Wolfgang are at ringside in Joe Coffey’s corner. The Creed Brothers run down after the match to confront Gallus. This leads to a pull-apart brawl as a melee ensues.

Tony D’Angelo in a backstage skit is about to hit on Roxanne Perez when they are interrupted by Zoey Stark. Perez and Stark are booked against each other in a match next week.

Pretty Deadly suddenly rushes in to ambush Tony D and Stacks. They beat them down, getting a measure of revenge for the aggravated kidnapping from earlier tonight.

Grayson Waller defeated Duke Hudson (with Andre Chase & Thea Hail), Dragon Lee, and JD McDonagh in a fatal four-way number one contender’s match

Waller pinned Hudson to win the match, and Waller in winning is the new number one contender for the NXT Championship. The top men’s title match at Spring Breakin’ is set with Hayes defending his title against Waller. Hayes even confronts Waller face-to-face after the match.

Picking up the pace as they went, there is a lot of action in this match. The four-way bout goes through a commercial break, and slew of near falls follow when the show returns from the break. Everyone got a moment to shine.

Dragon Lee to me looked the most impressive in the ring, and it came down to Dragon Lee against Hudson in the closing moments of the match. Dragon Lee executes a sit-out powerbomb on Hudson. Waller breaks up the count by giving Dragon Lee a cutter. Waller then steals a pinfall when he covers Hudson for a three count.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes confronts Waller after the match as they face off on the stage as the show closes.

Following NXT on USA Network is Fighting With My Family, which is the movie based on Saraya (Paige) and the Knight family.

WWE NXT live results: The fallout from Stand & Deliver

The Carmelo Hayes era of NXT officially kicks off tonight.

A new NXT Champion was crowned as Hayes defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. We’ll get Hayes’ first appearance as NXT Champion tonight.

Though interference by Trick Williams helped Hayes win the match, Breakker still showed respect for Hayes after his title win. Tonight’s NXT should provide some clarity over what’s next for Breakker.

NXT also has a new Women’s Champion after Indi Hartwell won the title in a ladder match at Stand & Deliver. Plus, Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn defeated Fallon Henley & Kiama James to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee and Tag Team Champions Gallus both retained their titles on Saturday. Gallus won after getting help from the returning Joe Coffey.

Announced for tonight is the NXT TV in-ring debut of Dragon Lee, who is taking on Nathan Frazer. Dijak vs. Odyssey Jones and Pretty Deadly vs. Tony D’Angelo & Stacks have been made official as well.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with new NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell first appearance on NXT since winning the title this past Saturday. Ring announcer Alicia Taylor introduces her as the new champ, and the live studio audience chants “You deserve it” for her.

Notably, the first 30 minutes of the show is “commercial free” tonight.

Hartwell gets in the ring to address the audience. This eventually leads to Zoey Stark interrupting her, but Hartwell first gives a heartfelt speech about finally winning the title. She goes on to say the first person that deserves a shot about her title is former champion Roxanne Perez.

Stark interrupts Hartwell, and Stark insults Hartwell by saying she is not on the same level as past NXT women’s champs. Stark claims we now have a champ that is easily beatable, and Stark challenges Hartwell to a title match tonight. Hartwell agrees to the title bout. That will not be the only title match on the card.

In an angle shot for social media, Axiom respectfully challenges NXT North American Champion Wes Lee to a match, and that looks official for tonight’s card.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) defeated Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo

Prince pinned D’Angelo, after some trickery and an exposed turnbuckle. This tag team match was set up with an angle from Saturday at Stand & Deliver, where Tony D cut a promo on Pretty Deadly when they, acting as host of the show, asked a question “The Don” took exception to.

There is a spot late in the match where Prince is dragged to the center of the ring. He grabs the ring skirt and pulls it into the ring. That would come into play moments later when Pretty Deadly did a switcheroo, after Prince bonks heads with D’Angelo. Prince’s face is covered by the skirting, and Wilson switches places with him.

One is a blond, and the other a brunette, but they wore matching gear. With their faces and hair hidden, they look similar. Wilson begs off, pleading that he is not the legal man, which he was not indeed. D’Angelo is distracted with Wilson, allowing Prince to send D’Angelo into an exposed turnbuckle. Prince then rolls up D’Angelo for a tainted three count.

Jacy Jayne in a video package cuts a pre-taped promo on Gigi Dolan. Jayne threatens to break Dolan.

Dijak defeated Odyssey Jones

Jones pinned Dijak with a moonsault press. This hoss fight was set up last week in a battle royal. Dijak won clean as a whistle.

Dijak at one point gives Jones a Spicolli Driver for a near fall. Jones kicked out, but he would not kick out after Dijak immediately follows up with a moonsault press.

Dragon Lee is the focus of a hype video ahead of his match that is up next.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is shown arriving to the building alongside Trick Williams.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus in an interview with McKenzie Mitchell brag about themselves. The returning Joe Coffey vows to wins a singles title to go along with the tag belts the other two hold.

Dragon Lee defeated Nathan Frazier

Lee pinned Frazier in a great television match. This was Lee’s in-ring debut on NXT TV, after he first debuted in a NXT ring at Stand & Deliver.

The start of the match is interrupted by the return of Noam Dar, who is toting his NXT UK Heritage Cup. Dar comes to ringside and cuts a promo where he also brags on himself. Dar says he will decide who to defend his Heritage Cup against as he sees fit. Dar then watches the match from ringside.

Frazier was a great opponent for Dragon Lee to showcase his style to the NXT audience. They worked well together, and they eventually quickened the pace just before stalemate that led into a commercial break.

The match continues during a split-screen break. They slow down, but not for long. Dragon Lee during the break takes a bump off the turnbuckle where he tumbles to the outside. Please save that for the full screen.

They build to some high spots off the top, and Lee soon fires up with a flurry of offense. They go back to the top rope, where Lee jumps off for a draping double foot stomp.

Frazier cuts of Dragon Lee for a near fall. Frazier misses a Phoenix Splash, but he rolls through. They trade strikes and kicks. Lee gets a near fall on a wickedly cool spot where he reverses a running Spanish Fly, and Lee turns it into a sit-out powerbomb. Lee measures and delivers a running knee strike, and Lee covers Frazier for the pinfall.

A segment is set up for next week in a skit that aired tonight. Duke Hudson will be awarded a MVP trophy in a ceremony next Tuesday on NXT.

The new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre, are the focus of a vignette where they practice witchcraft, or something like that. They dare and curse any team trying to take the titles from them.

North American Champ Wes Lee does a backstage interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Lee puts over his opponents from this past Saturday, but Lee says he was most impressed with Axiom.

NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell defeated Zoey Stark to retain her title

The match goes through a commercial break. Stark is in control as the show returns from the break. Hartwell fight back, and Hartwell leaps off the top rope to deliver a flying elbow drop.

Trade strikes and Stark goes for a springboard. Hartwell counters into a spinebuster for a near fall. Starks cuts off Hartwell, and Starks executes her finisher on Hartwell. However, Hartwell takes the bump by falling through the ropes to the outside.

Stark has to leave the ring and roll Hartwell back into the ring. Stark goes for a cover, but Hartwell counters with a crucifix and a three count. The champ retains her title.

Tiffany Stratton comes out on stage after the match, and Stratton gestures towards Hartwell. Stratton want a title shot.

As Hartwell is having a staredown with Stratton, Hartwell is blindsided by a sneak attack. Cora Jace jumps Hartwell from behind, and Jade parades around holding the title belt overhead. Jade also has words with Stratton on her way out.

Kiana Jame is yelling at Brooks Jensen in the locker room. She was angry Jensen did not help her cheat in the tag title match last Saturday In walks Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs. Henley wants to know what is going on. Henley asks James if she is really mad at Jensen for not cheating when James herself is cheating on Jensen. James admits to “dating around” and seeing other people.

James claims her and Jensen were never an “exclusive” couple. James says things changed when they shared their first kiss, but James claims that changed on Saturday when her and Henley lost the tag titles. James storms off, and Jensen is heartbroken. Jensen then yells at Henley and Briggs, ordering them to stay out of his relationships. Briggs makes a remark at the end of the skit alluding to a women’s tag team match next week.

A tribute graphic is shown honoring the memory of Butch Miller.

Ivy Nile defeated Tatum Paxley

Nile submitted Paxley in a grudge match between former teammates. The Creed Brothers celebrate with Nile after the match.

This match was set up in an angle several weeks ago when Paxley turned on Nile during a tag match. The former tag partners now meet here in a grudge match. They have a competitive match, but it is rather short. Nile eventually applies a Dragon Sleeper, and Paxley tapped out.

Ilja Dragunov is doing a backstage interview when he is interrupted by Von Wagner. Mr. Stone rushes in, and he is upset with Wagner. Stone says he will get Wagner booked in a match against Dragunov, but if Wagner loses, Stone is done as his manager.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee vs. Axiom to retain his title

Lee pinned Axiom in a really good match. They wrestled through a commercial break. Good action during the bout where they fly around, but they also use some submission holds and such. Great counters. These two work well together.

As they go home, Axiom missed the Golden Ratio. Lee then follows up by landing the Cardiac Kick, and Lee covers Axiom for a pinfall to retain the title

They embrace after the match in a show of good sportsmanship. Lee then leaves the ring. Axiom is alone in the ring when a cryptic promo from Scrypts plays over the loud speakers. When Scrypts tries a sneak attack, he is thwarted by Axiom. Scyrpts springboards into the ring out of nowhere, but Axiom seems knocks him out of the air with a dropkick.

In a locker room interview with McKenzie Mitchell, Nathan Frazier believes he can turns things around despite his loss earlier tonight. Frazier has a “moment of enlightenment” where he says “when your perspective changes, your reality changes,” and he is sure that is what happened to him tonight. Very profound, whatever it means.

Hyped as “coming soon” to NXT is Tank Ledger, Dani Palmer and Oba Femi.

Announced for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre defend their titles against former champs Kiana James & Fallon Henley
  • Ilja Dragunov vs. Von Wagner in match where Mr. Stone walks away if Wagner loses
  • Cora Jade explains her action
  • MVP (no, not that MVP) trophy presentation for Duke Hudson

Bron Breakker cheap shots Carmelo Hayes

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes is headed to the ring, alongside Trick Williams, to celebrate the new title reign. This looks to be the segment that closes the show.

Williams cuts a promo first where introduces the new champ. Great back-and-forth between Hayes and Williams. Hayes says he is the NXT champ, “and I am him,” which is his new catchphrase. Williams proclaims “this is the him era.”

Hayes spoof a famous lyric to a rap song, before Hayes goes on to put over Bron Breakker as one of Hayes’ greatest and toughest opponents. Hayes says he truly respects Breakker, and Hayes calls him out to the ring to address him in person.

Breakker comes out to join Hayes and Williams in the ring. Hayes thanks Breakker on behalf of everyone at NXT. Breakker says the title holds a great legacy, and it was his duty to pass the torch when the next guy in line wins the title.

Breakker congratulates Hayes, and Breakker goes to leave. Hayes pulls him back into the ring and they embrace with a hug. Breakker raises Hayes hand, and in a something a seasoned viewer could see coming a mile away, Breakker cheap shots Hayes with a lariat. Breakker guzzles Williams, and Breakker picks him up for a military press into a powerslam. Breakker then spears Hayes, and Breakker lets out a primal scream.

Breakker saunters out of the ring, leaving Hayes down on the mat. The audience chants “one more time” as the show fades to black, which was hilarious given that was seemingly a heel turn. Or was it? After that cliffhanger, we will find out next week.

WWE NXT live results: Final build to Stand & Deliver

Tuesday’s NXT marks the final show before Saturday’s Stand & Deliver premium live event.

Grayson Waller is set to respond to Johnny Gargano’s challenge for a unsanctioned match at NXT Stand & Deliver. Waller agreed to sign the contract as long as Gargano was banned from the building. Gargano gave the contract to friend and NXT commentator Vic Joseph for safekeeping, agreeing to the stipulations.

A battle royal will determine the fifth and final competitor in the upcoming five-way match for the NXT North American Championship at Stand & Deliver. Men such as Dijak and Jinder Mahal told Lee on last week’s NXT that they will be the ones to fill that final slot.

Tuesday’s NXT will also have a Last Chance Qualifying match, with Indi Hatwell, Sol Ruca, and Ivy Nile vying for the final spot in the Women’s Championship ladder match at Stand & Deliver. All three women previously failed in their efforts to qualify for the match, but now have one final shot.

Join us for live coverage starting at 8 pm ET.

**********

Opening the show is the battle royal to determine the final competitor for the North American title bout.

Apollo Crews gets an entrance to start the show, and the other wrestlers are already in the ring. North American Champion Wes Lee is ringside at the announce desk for guest commentary.

Scrypts jumps over the ropes into the ring as Crews is posing in a corner. Scrypts’ leaps onto Axiom, and that is the spark that ignites the powder keg. A melee erupts and the battle royal is underway.

Axiom wins a 20-man battle royal to qualify for the NXT North American Championship match at Stand & Deliver

Quincy Elliott was the first eliminated, mere seconds after the match begins. Nathan Frazier is the last eliminated. Lots of clubbering in between.

The battle royal goes through a commercial break. Axiom outlasts the field, which has been a story they have been telling for weeks. He finally qualifies for the five-way title match at Stand & Deliver.

Some other stories are weaved into general chaos of the battle royal. A grudge is established between Dijak and Odyssey Jones. An enraged Dijak attacks Jones after Jones helps to eliminate Dijak. Jones is pulled out of the ring, and Dijak sends him crashing into the ring steps. Jones is rolled back into the ring, and moments later Jones is eliminated by Jinder Mahal.

Mahal ends up on the apron, where he fights off Malik Blade and Edris Enofe. Mahal is named by the announcers as an odds on favorite to win. He is the superstar and whatnot, plus a former WWE champion.

Scrypts jumps Axiom at the start, but Axiom gets the last laugh as he eliminate Scrypts. This adds another layer to their simmering feud.

Hank Walker and Drew Gulak come to blows, and they get into a brawl after both are tossed out by Charlie Dempsey. Walker had Gulak in a sleeper on the apron, and Dempsey dumps out Walker. That in turn also eliminated Gulak, who takes his anger out on Walker. They brawl their way off the soundstage, and they would meet again in a singles match later tonight.

Crews was the only one to get a full entrance before the match, and he also gets the Diesel treatment. He throws guys out left and right, but he is ultimately eliminated by Dabbo-Kato. They were among the final six.

Last six remaining are Dabbo-Kato, Mahal, Dempsey, Axiom, Crews, and Nathan Frazier. Kato throws out Crews, leaving five in the ring. Team work helps to eliminate Mahal, as Frazier gets an assist from Axiom to eliminate Mahal. The team works is not over.

Having a final four lasts only seconds, as the the last three all team up to toss out Dabbo-Kato. He gets a touch of the Andre the Giant treatment for his elimination, and he glares a hole through Wes Lee after the match.

Things gets really good in the closing moments. Dempsey eats a missile dropkick from Frazier, and Dempsey is clotheslined over the ropes by Axiom. They trade strikes, leading to a double down. Dempsey had already went over the ropes, so Axiom just boots him off the apron. Dempsey hits the floor, and he is out.

Last two remaining are Axiom and Frazier, and they tear it up. Breakneck speed and intricate high spots. These two are tremendous together. Great counters and reversals. Frazier skins the cat to escape touching the floor, but Axiom nails him with a dropkick in the closing moments. Axiom then throws out Frazier, and Axiom wins the battle royal.

North American Champion Wes Lee gets into the ring after the match to join Axiom. Out comes Dragon Lee, Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh. All five have a standoff and they stare down each other ahead of their five-way title match this weekend.

Pretty Deadly, wearing fancy hats, host a Stand & Deliver preview show, with clips sprinkled into this episode where they run down the card for Saturday.

Andre Chase and Tyler Bate cut a promo ahead of Bate’s match tonight. Thea Hail is also there, and she is pumped up as usual. Hail is full of school spirit. Duke Hudson though, not so much. He tags along anyway. but is is far from excited about it.

Tyler Bate (with Chase U) defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Bate pinned Wagner after interference by Mr. Stone backfired. Thea Hail also gets involved, after she counteracts the interference.

Wagner is a monster heel, and he works over Bate. Comeback by Bate, and he tries to fall the big timber. Wagner won’t go down. Yet, Bate is on a roll, until Mr. Stone interferes by hooking Bate’s leg. Bate goes after Stone, and Stone seeks sanctuary in the ring. Thea Hail jumps in and she is a house of fire on Stone. Hail boots Stone out of the ring just before the finish.

Bate is thrown over the ropes by Wagner, but Bate turns it into a dive on Stone. Duke Hudson gives a reluctant high five to Bate. Back in the ring, Bate climbs the turnbuckles for his finisher where he does a corkscrew into a swanton.

Bate and Chase U pose in the ring after the match. The lights go out for a sudden promo from The Schism. They have a match on Saturday against Chase U, with control of the university gimmick on the line as a stipulation.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is backstage, much to the surprise of the announcer team. At least they sold it that way, as Perez has been out with an injury. Perez heads to the office of Shawn Michaels, where Perez lobbies to be included in the women’s title ladder match at Stand & Deliver. There is some bad acting here in this skit, but their hearts are in the right place.

Perez wants to climb the ladder and retrieve the title she never lost in the ring. Perez pleads with Michaels, and Perez talks about wanting to overcome her anxiety. Michaels relents, and he agrees to add Perez to the ladder match at Stand & Deliver, but Perez must get checked out again by the doctors.

Elektra Lopez defeated Valentina Feroz

Lopez pinned Feroz after a sit-out tree slam. This match was set up weeks ago, and Lopez wins in dominate fashion. Feroz got some offense, but this match seems more designed to get Lopez over.

Eddy Thorpe defeated Myles Borne

Thorpe (Karl Fredericks) pinned Borne, in what is Thorpe’s debut match in NXT. Thorpe finished off Borne with a Saito suplex, followed by twisting neckbreaker. Thorpe looked good here, but he will need some character development. I’m assuming the new name is a play on Jim Thorpe, a Native American athlete who was a cultural icon.

NXT Tag Team Champion Gallus cut promos in an interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Gallus vow to retain their tag titles at Stand & Deliver.

Indi Hartwell defeated Ivy Nile and Sol Ruca in a “Last Chance Qualifying” match

Hartwell pinned Nile to win the match. In winning, Hartwell qualifies for the women’s title ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

Sol Ruca got to shine, and she sure shined with her athleticism. As they are heading home, Nile catches Hartwell in a Dragon Sleeper. Ruca leaps in and springboard into her “Sol-snatcher” finisher (springboard flip into a stunner). Hartwell boots Ruca with a kick, knocking Ruca out of the ring. Hartwell then hits Nile with a sliding forearm, and Hartwell covers Nile for a three count.

Much like earlier in the show in the build to the men’s multi-person title match, all the competitors in the NXT Women’s Championship ladder match have a staredown inside the soundstage.

Pretty Deadly, and their hats, are back with more of their Stand & Deliver preview. They focus on the women’s ladder match.

Hyping the NXT Championship match at Stand & Deliver is a “Prime Target” segment. A video package previews the title match main event for Saturday. This was really good stuff, and it might be one of the better Prime Target segments.

Drew Gulak defeated Hank Walker

Gulak pinned Walker, after outside interference by Charlie Dempsey.

Walker trades submission holds with Gulak early on in the match. Walker was holding his own when Gulak cuts him off. Walker being so good on the mat forces Gulak to venture outside his normal method of attack. Gulak even jumps off the top rope. Walker fires up and he makes a comeback.

Walker pulls down the straps on his singlet. He hits the ropes for an Ultimate Warrior shoulder tackle, but Gulak kicks out for a near fall. Gulak counters to apply a crossface. Walker escapes, and moments later he has Gulak trapped in a cross armbreaker. Gulak manages to get his foot on the bottom rope, thus breaking the hold.

Walker and Gulak are tied up near the ropes when Charlie Dempsey runs down to ringside. Dempsey hops on the apron, and he Dempsey bashes Walker in the back of the head. Gulak then traps Walker in a small package for a pinfall.

Pretty Deadly preview the men’s and women’s tag team title matches at Stand & Deliver.

Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen

D’Angelo pins Jensen to win the match. There is drama, and an angle after the match, with the Kiana James and Fallon Henely. Their sage with Briggs & Jensen continues.

A skit earlier in the show established a stipulation that if Briggs & Jensen win this match then they are added to the tag title match at Stand & Deliver. Kaina James in storyline is the one that got them the opportunity, much to the chagrin of Fallon Henley. Doesn’t really matter anyway, as Briggs & Jensen lose the match tonight.

The tag match tonight goes through a commercial break. Briggs & Jensen are standing tall as the show cuts to the break. Stacks & Tony D. turn the tables by the time the show returns from commercial, and they work over Jensen.

In an unintentionally funny moment, Stacks & Tony D. do the old Demolition finisher, except Stacks jumps off the top rope for the flying elbow. Booker T on commentary repeatedly hollers, calling it the “Doomsday Device.” I laughed out loud.

Hot tag and Briggs proceeds to clean house. Briggs tags out, and he lifts up Stacks into an electric chair. Jensen then leaps off the top rope with a spinning heel kick. D’Angelo jumps in to break the count for a near fall.

Briggs and D’Angelo have a slugfest, and Briggs is sent outside with a Kevin Nash spot where he misses a big boot. Stacks & Tony D. then execute a stereo slam where they both give Jensen a big back bump, and D’Angelo craddles Jensen for the deciding pinfall.

After the match, Fallon Henley gets into the ring alongside Kiana James. They are still the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, but Henley wants to settle an issue. Henley tells Jensen there is something James needs to tell you. Henley is alluding to James being unfaithful. James says instead of telling Jensen, she will show him. James walks over to Jensen and kisses him. The announcers sell it like this is the first time Jensen has ever kissed a girl. Henley is the only one not happy.

Johnny Gargano brawls with Grayson Waller

Grayson Waller enters the soundstage, and he heads to the announce desk where Vic Joseph is waiting with a contract. Johnny Gargano gave the contract to Joseph for safe keeping, as Gargano is banned from the building per Waller’s request. The contract is for a match at Stand & Deliver. Waller is supposed to sign it, but first he must talk about it a lot.

Waller takes the contract from Joseph, and Waller cuts a promo on Joseph. Waller then grabs a microphone as he gets into the ring. Security guards are flanking Waller as he addresses the audience. Waller cuts a promo that includes him heeling on the crowd. He goes on to blame the fans.

Waller brings up War Games, where he jumped off the top of the cage. He wanted that spot to go viral, but everyone was talking about “Johnny Wrestling” instead. Waller says that is his justification for attacking Gargano two nights later on NXT. That angle wrote off Gargano from WWE television at the time. Gargano would eventually return to WWE, but on the main roster instead of NXT.

Waller calls Gargano “the biggest mark in this business.” I guess we are supposed to believe he is shooting now. Anyway, Waller basically claims he got himself more over by attacking Gargano.

Waller continues cutting his promo, until he is interrupted by Gargano’s theme music. The song was somewhat of a red herring. Waller was looking for Gargano to come down the entrance ramp, but Gargano has a surprise.

Dressed as a cameraman, Gargano is already in the ring. He sits the camera down and takes off his disguise. Stone Cold Gargano then attacks Waller, and they are separated by security in a pull-apart brawl. The go-home show goes off the air with them being held back.

WWE NXT live results: Stand & Deliver qualifying matches

The road to Stand & Deliver continues on tonight’s episode of NXT.

The next two participants for the NXT Women’s Championship ladder match at Stand & Deliver will be confirmed. Tiffany Stratton vs. Indi Hartwell and Lyra Valkyria vs. Ivy Nile are tonight’s qualifying matches. The injured Wendy Choo was originally announced as Valkyria’s opponent but has been replaced by Nile.

Zoey Stark and Gigi Dolin have already qualified for the ladder match. The status of NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez remains uncertain following the angle where she passed out after facing Meiko Satomura two weeks ago. If Perez isn’t able to return in time, the Stand & Deliver ladder match will be for the vacant championship.

A grudge match between Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh has also been announced for tonight’s show. Plus, Chase U and the Schism will meet inside of the ring for a “Great Debate” to prove which team represents togetherness more.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The entrance of Pretty Deadly open this episode from a soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando. Kit Wilson and Elton Prince come to the ring dressed in elegant street clothes.

They say their first act as the hosts of Stand & Deliver is to wipe last week episode from the archives. I’d want that too if a segment made me look like geeks.

Pretty Deadly goes on to insult NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus. They also take issue with NXT Champion Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes. Those two together put both Wilson and Prince through a table. Pretty Deadly also makes fun of Hayes and Breakker’s fashion sense.

The insults lead to an interruption, which is such a pro wrestling cliche. So overdone, but here we are again. Out comes Trick Williams and Hayes to interrupt Pretty Deadly. Hayes and Williams confront them in the ring.

There is banter back and forth between the four. Good thing this segment happens, as otherwise there is apparently no main event booked for the show. Luckily, there is beef here, thus setting up Hayes and Breakker against Pretty Deadly in a tag match.

As Williams is making the match, he is announcing who will face Pretty Deadly. Williams hypes up Hayes, and then goes to announce Hayes’ partner. Hayes seems to think the partner is Williams, but Williams says Bron Breakker instead. Hayes is taken aback by this, but he had little time to stew over it.

Pretty Deadly jumps Hayes and Williams, and they begin to double team Hayes. Williams is thrown out of the ring, and he is unable to help Hayes. Breakker runs down to the ramp to the rescue. Breakker makes the save, and he cleans house. Breakker picks up Prince in a military press, and he throws him over the ropes on Wilson at ringside.

Breakker helps Hayes to his feet, and Breakker tells him he wants noting to happen to Hayes until Stand & Deliver. Breakker wants no excuses for Hayes.

After a commercial break, Hayes and Williams are in their locker room. Hayes is upset with Williams for booking him in a match. Williams insists he has Hayes’ back. Williams tries to convince Hayes that teaming with Breakker is a way to get a “cheat code” for Breakker. Basically, Hayes can scout Breakker ahead of their title match at Stand & Deliver.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Indi Hartwell in a championship qualifying match

Stratton pinned Hartwell to qualify for a championship ladder match at Stand & Deliver. For the finish, Stratton gives Hartwell a rolling fireman’s carry slam, and Stratton follows that with a Christopher Daniels’ Best Moonsault Ever.

The match goes through a commercial break, and Stratton eventually wins in the second half of the bout. It was decent for what it was.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus is playing pool at a local pub when in walks The Creed Brothers. The two teams play a game of billiards. Gallus wins, so Creeds challenge them to a game of darts. Creeds win at darts. They all decide the tie-breaker will be a tag team title match at Stand & Deliver. Just as all four walk outside, up walks Tony D’Angelo and Stacks. D’Angelo has business to discuss, so they all go back inside.

Lyra Valkyria is the focus of a vignette that shows her training for Stand & Deliver.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Gigi Dolan about the ladder match at Stand & Deliver. Tiffany Stratton interrupts them to annoy us all.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee is headed to the ring to announce his four challengers at Stand & Deliver. Lee cuts an impassioned promo about wanting to defend his title against the best athletes around the ring, and prove he deserves to be the champion.

Time for the third interruption of the night. Cannot hardly talk without an interruption, but at least the third one was much more notable than first two. Out comes Dragon Lee to confront Wes Lee. For someone know more for their in-ring ability, Dragon Lee does well in a bilingual promo where he speaks English and Spanish.

Wes Lee makes Dragon Lee his first choice for the fatal five way match at Stand & Deliver for the NXT North American title.

For the fourth interruption of the night, here comes JD McDonagh. He has harsh words for Wes Lee. McDonagh was out there for his match that is up next against Ilja Dragunov, for what is a heated grudge match weeks in the making.

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions are in the locker room when Fallon Henley confronts Kiana James about Sebastian. Henley storms off after threatening to tell Brooks Jensen that James is cheating on him.

JD McDonagh vs. Ilja Dragunov goes to a no-contest

Best match on the show so far, despite a non-finish. This will be hard to top the rest of the night. Also hard to follow, as McDonagh and Dragunov left it all in the ring.

The match itself more than lives up to the build. Too bad they did not have an actual finish. Regardless, this sets up Dragunov and McDonagh getting added to the fatal five way. They both starting brawling with Dragon Lee, who was at ringside watching the match. Wes Lee also gets involved after the match is thrown out by the referee.

This grudge match in a blood feud begins with a slugfest as it should. Slobberknocker from the start, they settle into more of a wrestling match than a brawl. The intensity remains, and it looked very snug.

The live studio audience was hot for this bout. They did not so much pick sides as much as reveled in the violent spectacle. Dragunov and McDonagh fight through a commercial break. The intense grudge match continues after the break. McDonagh targets Dragunov’s eye socket, looking for a measure of revenge from a previous injury at the hands of Dragunov.

Dragunov fights from underneath in peril, and he comes back and signals for his finisher. McDonagh counters Dragunov, and McDonagh goes for a submission. The same hold that in storyline put Dragunov on the shelf for months. Dragunov escapes McDonagh’s clutches, and Dragunov lands a leaping forearm.

The fighting spills outside, and McDonagh and Dragunov trade strikes on the floor. They tie up and fall into Dragon Lee, who is seated at ringside watching the match. McDonagh gets up and hits Dragon Lee with a cheap shot. McDonagh punches Dragon Lee, so Dragon Lee joins the melee. Dragon Lee started trading strikes with both McDonagh and Dragunov. The referee throws out the match, calling for the bell. Wes Lee leaps in out of nowhere with a flip dive on all three. Seems to set up McDonagh and Dragunov being added to the fatal five way at Stand & Deliver.

Wes Lee in a backstage interview confirms McDonagh and Dragunov are added to the fatal five way title match. Axiom interrupts, wanting to be another addition. Wes Lee instead books a battle royal for next week, where the winner get the final spot in the five way match. Axiom is happy with that, saying he only wanted a chance.

Johnny Gargano challenges Grayson Waller to an unsanctioned match

Javier Bernal enters to soundstage cosplaying as Johnny Gargano. Bernal spoofs Gargano’s entrance and mannerisms. Bernal blames Gargano for stealing his spot at Stand & Deliver. This leads to yet another interruption. This time it was Gargano himself.

Johnny Wrestling marches to the ring and he makes short work of Bernal. He is thrown out of the ring by Gargano, and Bernal is slammed into the barricades. Gargano is in a rage.

Gargano has a challenge for Grayson Waller. Gargano offers to “raise the stakes” to an unsanctioned match. Gargano has a contract in his hand, and he tells Waller to come sign it. Another interruption, as Waller interrupts with a promo from the video screen.

Waller says he will sign the contract next week under one condition. That being Gargano is banned from the building. Gargano agrees, and Gargano gives the contract to Vic Joseph for safe keeping. Before leaving the ring, Gargano superkicks Bernal.

A vignette hypes Eddy Thorpe, who debuts next week on NXT.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Ivy Nile, and Mitchell asks Nile about Tatum Paxley turning on her. Nile is upset over that, but she has to focus on her qualifying match tonight.

A vignette profiles Hank Walker and his journey from football player to pro wrestler. Good character development.

Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey are backstage watching Walker’s vignette, and they  scoff at Walker.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Ivy Nile in a championship qualifying match

Valkyria pinned Nile to qualify for the championship ladder match at Stand & Deliver. As they go home, Nile has Valkyria caught in a Dragon Sleeper. Valkyria counters by pushing off the ropes to flip over Nile. German suplex by Valkyria sets up a roundhouse kick. Valkyria then covers Nile for a pinfall.

Fallon Henley is walking around backstage when she is jumped by Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. They are double-teaming Henley when Kaina James runs in to make a save. Referees break up the brawl. James then asks Henley to not tell Jensen yet, and Henley agrees.

The Great Debate: Schism vs. Chase U

Blake Howard is the moderator for a series of one-on-one debates in an auditorium. The first debate is Duke Hudson against Rip Fowler and their topic is inclusion. Fowler does well, but Hudson not so much. He gives a half-hearted answer. Andre Chase asks him WTF was that.

Up next is Thea Hail debating with Ava on feeling safe. Ava insist there is safety under the Schism tree. Thea Hail recites a speech that is very pro-Chase U.

Andre Chase is set to face off against Joe Gacy in the final of the three debates. Tyler Bate interrupts, and he apologizes to Chase for his tardiness. Bate replaces Chase in the debate against Jagger Reid, who simply spouts The Schism catchphrase. Bate responds with a great speech that almost saves this lame skit. Nevertheless, the skit ends with a challenge.

Bate and Chase challenge The Schism to a four-person mixed tag match at Stand & Deliver. Joe Gacy says no and The Schism turn to leave. Duke Hudson butts in and blurts out, “We’ll put up the school.” Winner of the match gets control of Chase University. Gacy accepts that stipulation and the match is on for Stand & Deliver. Bate teams with Chase, Hudson and Hail against Gacy, Jagger, Reid and Ava with control of Chase U on the line.

Tony D’Angelo, Stacks, the team of Gallus, and the Creed Brothers all wake up after passing out in the pub from what appears to be a night of hard drinking. They all enjoy the boozing so much they agree to a triple threat match for the tag titles at Stand & Deliver.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker & Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeated Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince)

The champ and his challenger work well as a team to win this match. Good match.

Pretty Deadly look strong as the match gets underway, as they look to work over Hayes. He fights back and Breakker joins him for a standoff with Pretty Deadly. Melee erupts, and Breakker helps elevate Hayes for a splash. Hayes and Breakker clear the ring, and they strand tall as the show cuts to its final commercial break.

Breakker is getting worked over as the show returns, after Breakker takes a hot shot during the break. Hot tag to Hayes, and he explodes into a flurry of action. Cool spot where Hayes sits on the middle rope and suplexes Wilson on top of Prince.

Hayes is soon cut off by Pretty Deadly, and they begin to work him over. Second hot tag of the match, this time to Breakker. He is a house of fire and fury. Breakker throws around Pretty Deadly with suplexes. Breakker then pulls down the strap on his singlet as he lets out a primal yell.

Breakker jumps off the top rope into a flying bulldog for a near fall. Breakker and Hayes narrowly avoid colliding into each other. Hayes gives Wilson a codebreaker, and Breakker follows up with a spear on Wilson. Breakker tags Hayes, and Hayes leaps off the top rope with Nothing But Net (flying legdrop). Hayes then covers Wilson for a three count.

Breakker and Hayes pose together after the match in what becomes a subsequent staredown ahead of their title match next Saturday.

WWE NXT live results: Johnny Gargano appears

After making his return at Roadblock, Johnny Gargano is back on NXT tonight.

We’ll hear what Gargano has to say as he addresses his upcoming match against Grayson Waller. The two are facing off at NXT Stand & Deliver in Los Angeles over WrestleMania weekend next month.

Shawn Michaels revealed Gargano as Waller’s Stand & Deliver opponent last Tuesday. Waller challenged Michaels to come out of retirement to face him at the event, but Michaels said there was someone who wanted to whip Waller’s ass even more. Michaels then introduced Gargano, who ran out and brawled with Waller.

Waller was the person who attacked Gargano in what was Gargano’s final appearance for NXT in December 2021.

WWE will follow up on last week’s angle where NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez collapsed after facing Meiko Satomura. There will also be a contract signing for Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes’ NXT Championship match at Stand & Deliver.

The NXT Tag Team titles will be on the line as Gallus defend against Pretty Deadly tonight. Also announced for the episode is a grudge match between Apollo Crews and Dabba-Kato.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show begins with a recap of NXT Roadblock from last week, concluding with the surprise return of Johnny Gargano and the cliffhanger where Roxanne Perez collapsed in a post-match angle.

Opening the show live from the soundstage at the Performance Center in Orlando is a “Johnny Wrestling” monologue. Out comes Johnny Gargano to address the audience. He first asks them to watch his back for a Grayson Waller sneak attack.

Last time he was in the NXT ring he promised to teach his son to be the best man he can be, and to do that you have to finish what you start. Gargano is back in NXT to finish his story. On NXT 15 months ago his story ended on a cliffhanger, after an injury angle where Waller attacked Gargano. That was Gargano’s swan song with WWE for the time being, before he recently returned as part of the main roster on Raw.

Gargano notes he won the NXT Championship, whereas Waller failed on two attempts. Gargano says that Waller then began blaming everyone but himself for his losses. Waller disrespected the fans and the roster, and “most importantly” Waller started disrespecting the NXT brand. Gragano takes most exception to that.

“No matter what brand I am on,” Gargano says, “NXT is my home.”

Gargano says Waller should not “screw with a man’s home.” A producers rushes over to ringside to tell Gargano that Waller is at Gargano’s house. Waller is apparently livestreaming from the Gargano house, so Gargano leaves in a hurry. Gargano is later seen speeding away from the building in a SUV. To be continued…

Earlier today, Axiom shows up to follow around North American Champion Wes Lee. Axiom wants to answer the open challenge later tonight, and he doesn’t want anyone to steal away his chance. So, Axiom is following Lee around all day. The match is eight hours away at this time, so they go eat.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) to retain their titles

Coffey pinned Wison to win the match and retain the titles. Good match.

Gallus were the protagonists in the match, in a bruising babyface role. Gallus is rolling before the show cuts to a commercial break. Pretty Deadly is working over Mark as the show returns from the break. That builds to a hot tag where Wolfgang cleans house.

When the fighting spills outside, Wolfgang is thrown over the announce desk by Pretty Deadly. The heel challengers then grap the championship belts. Prince distracts the referee while Wilson hits Coffey with a belt shot for a near fall.

Gallus fights back after the near fall, as Wolfgang low bridges Prince to counter Spilt Milk. Coffey then nails Wilson with a flying uppercut. Tandem combo finisher by Gallus, and Wolfgang covers Wilson for a pinfall.

Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs break into Kiana James’ office. There is some comedy, including Briggs dressed in camo. They find out James has dinner plans with someone labeled “Sebastian.”

Shawn Michaels tweeted that Roxanne Perex is out of the hospital, but her health is still in question ahead of Stand & Deliver. Michaels has an “obligation to announce we possibly have to crown a new NXT Women’s Champion.” In case of that, Michaels is booking a series of qualifying matches. The winner advance to a ladder match for the women’s title at Stand & Deliver.

A medical doctor says he there is no timetable for Perez’s return.

Zoey Stark defeated Sol Ruca to qualify for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver

Stark pinned Ruca. In winning, Ruca quailfies for the championship ladder match over WrestleMania weekend.

Ruca continues to greatly improve with every match. Stark seems beyond ready for the main roster with her ability. Ruca made a comeback during the match, and she does a moonsault to the floor off the middle turnbuckle. She stuck the lady for a big pop.

As they head home, Ruca goes to follow up. She springboards back into the ring where she is caught by Stark. Ruca takes Stark’s modified GTS finisher, and Stark pins her to win the match. Stark is the first to qualify for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver.

Scrypts has a cryptic message about wearing masks.

Up next is a triple threat women’s tag match, where the winners get a title shot at Stand & Deliver against NXT Tag Team Champion Kiana James & Fallon Henley.

Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre defeated Kayden Carter & Katana Chance and Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley in a triple threat tag team match

Fyre pinned Nile to win the match, after Paxley turned on Nile.

In winning, Fyre & Dawn earn a title shot at Stand & Deliver. Three wrestlers in the ring at once, meaning one member of each team. So, there was a lot happening in the match. Chance & Carter were strong favorites according to Booker T, but they were thwarted by Fyre & Dawn.

Paxley turned on Nile at ringside, blindsiding her with a kick and a sneak attack. Paxley then rolled Nile into the ring, where Nile takes a tandem finisher. Dawn gives her a backstabber as Fyre leaps off the top rope with a swanton bomb. Fyre then covers Nile for a pinfall.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker is in a comedy skit with Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. This would lead to D’Angelo saying he and Stacks plan to win the tag team titles.

Ilja Dragunov is in the ring for a monologue. He wants to rid himself of JD McDonagh. Out comes McDonagh for a confrontation. They argue with each other as they have a bitter feud. A bit of melodrama here as they face off in the ring.

Despite McDonagh insisting their feud will never in, Dragunov warns it will end next week when they make it official. A brawl erupts and a slugfest ensues. They brawl their way out of the soundstage.

Pretty Deadly in a backstage interview with McKenzie Mitchell decide they should be the ones to host Stand & Deliver. Off they go to meet with a special person to get the okay.

McDonagh and Dragunov are still brawling backstage. Referees and producers break them up. North American Chamion Wes Lee is headed to the ring when he has to pass through the pull-apart. He has words with McDonagh and they come to blows. They trade punches and are seperated. Personally, I popped for a Norman Smiley cameo during the skit.

Grayson Waller is at Johnny Gargano’s house according to a video posted on Twitter.

A huge brawl is happening backstage as wrestlers are fighting their way to the ring looking to answer the open challenge. Axiom fights his way into the ring, but his is blindsided by Scrypts in a sneak attack.

As a bunch of wrestler brawl at ringside, McDonagh rushed into the ring to hit Lee with a lariat. Dragunov follows McDonagh into the ring and they are brawling once again. It is a huge melee. An angry Lee does a running flip dive over the ropes on a pile of bodies on the floor.

Dragon Lee is interviewd by McKenzie Mitchell, and Lee says he is going to love it here in NXT. He aims to prove he is a special talent.

In another backsatge interview, Jacy Jayne is wearing a sling on her right arm. Jayne says she eperated her shoulder early in her match last week against Gigi Dolan. Jayne warns Dolan that she will break her heart and face when Jayne returns from the injury.

Dabba-Kato defeated Apollo Crews

The match goes through a commercial break, so it was rather long. Heat on Crews as Dabba-Kato work him over until a Crews comeback. They tease a countout when Crews takes a tree slam on the ring steps. Crews barely breaks the ten count as he jumps into the ring after nine.

Crews is able to break the count, but that was the beginning of the end. Dabba-Kato with a sit-out tree slam, and Crews is pinned by Dabba-Kato.

In a skit with Shawn Michaels and Wes Lee, a fatal five way for the NXT North American Championship at Stand & Deliver. Lee at first wanted to defend agaisnt ten wrestlers, but Michaels offers a compromise where they book four against the champ in fatal five way. Michaels will allows Lee to pick the challengers.

Gigi Dolan defeated Kiana James to qualify for the ladder match at Stand & Deliver

Dolan pinned James after a cobra twist into a crucifix bomb. Dolan advances to the championship ladder matcha at Stand & Deliver. James being in a qualifer is kind of silly, and it telegraphed the finish, since James was already booked in a tag title match at Stand & Deliver.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn jump James after the match, and Brooks Jensen runs out to make a save.

Johnny Gargano finally returns home, where Grayson Waller is waiting for him in an angle similar to other home invasions on WWE television over the years. Steve Austin and Brian Pillman had an infamous home invasion angle on Raw in 1996. Others followed throughout the years, including a great angle with Edge and Randy Orton. Tonight’s angle was not the best, but the angle tonight includes the WWE TV debut of an infant that some on Twitter are already dubbing “Baby Wrestling.”

Waller attacks Gargano when Gargano arrives home. They brawl in the yard, and the fight on the steps of the front door. Candice LeRae is heard hollering at Gargano. She walks onto the porch holding her and Gargano’s infant child. Waller is breaking a rake over Gargano’s back as LeRae pleads with Waller to stop.

LeRae continues to pleas with Waller as the child is in tears. Gargano takes a curb stomp, and Waller taunts LeRae. Waller leaves Gargano laid out face down in the yard, and Waller leaves the property. LeRae, still holding the child, rushes to Gargano.

Brooks Jensen is consoling Kiana James in the locker room when Fallon Henley and Josh Briggs enter the scene. Henley and James bicker with each other.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes are face-to-face in the ring for a contract signing. They sit behind a table, and they are about to sign a contract for a title match at Stand & Deliver when Pretty Deadly interrupts.

Pretty Deadly just wants to host the contract signing, as they are also looking to be the hosts of Stand & Deliver.

Hayes and Breakker compliment each other while also throwing shade at the same time. Trick Williams flanks Hayes. Breakker and Hayes both vow to win the title in a rambling segment. Hayes does a good job on the microphone, and Breakker holds his own.

The champion and challenger go nose-to-nose, but they shake hands. The ending seems anti-climatic, so Pretty Deadly chimes in. They want to see some drama and action. Breakker and Hayes tear their shirts off, and Pretty Deadly gets giddy at the thought of some drama. The joke is on them, as Breakker and Hayes put Pretty Deadly through the table set up in the ring.

Breakker and Hayes then have a staredown as the show goes off air.

WWE NXT Roadblock live results: Roxanne Perez vs. Meiko Satomura

Roxanne Perez faces off with a legendary challenger on tonight’s special edition of NXT.

NXT Roadblock features an NXT Women’s Championship match between Perez and Meiko Satomura. It will be the second time they’ve ever faced each other, with Satomura defeating Perez on NXT last September.

A grudge match will also take place as Gigi Dolin battles her former Toxic Attraction tag team partner Jacy Jayne. Toxic Attraction imploded with Jayne turning against Dolin last month.

Shawn Michaels will make an appearance, joining Grayson Waller on a new edition of The Grayson Waller Effect. Waller has been causing chaos in recent weeks after feeling disrespected by Michaels and NXT management.

A new match type will make its debut as Dijak and Tony D’Angelo face off in a Jailhouse Street Fight. NXT Champion Bron Breakker teams up with The Creed Brothers against Jinder Mahal & Indus Sher, and Andre Chase goes one-on-one with Joe Gacy.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Opening the show is a pre-tape featuring “Tiffany’s Epiphanies” hosted by Tiffany Stratton. She runs down the card and gives her thoughts. At Roadblock, all roads lead to Stand & Deliver in Los Angeles over WrestleMania weekend.

Kicking off the show live from the sounstage at the Performance Center is a gimmick match where the loser gets locked in a cell.

Tony D’Angelo (with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) defeats Dijak in a Jailhouse Street Fight

The rules are similar to a ambulance or casket match, except the prop is a cell. D’Angelo wins by putting Dijak into a cell and shutting the door. The match also played out like a WWE-style street fight. Other punder is used, like metal folding chairs, tables, a crowbar and such.

Dijak piles chairs into the ring just before the show is ready to take its first commercial break. Dijak goes to the top rope, but the chairs come back to bit him. D’Angelo cuts him off with a chair shot, and D’Angelo then suplexes Dijak off the top rope onto a pile of chairs in the ring.

Dijak turns the tables during a picture-in-picture break. He also sets up an actual table during the break, much to the delight of the live studeo audience. They chanted for tables earlier in the match.

Upon the show returning from the break, Dijak springboards off the top rope into a flying elbow drop on D’Angelo, who is laid out on the table. The table crumbles to pieces. Highlight reel type of spot.

Stacks interferes at one point, looking to help D’Angleo. That backfires when D’Angelo throws Dijak into the cell, and Dijak takes Stacks as a hostage. D’Angelo cannot bring himself to close the cell on Dijak while Dijak is choking out his charge. This allows Dijak to escape the cell, and he then boots Stacks in the face.

D’Angelo fights back, and he fires up on Dijak. Chairs shots by D’Angelo as Dijak feeds him his back. Low blow by Dijak to turn the tide. Dijak executes his Feast Your Eyes finisher, and Dijak goes to drag D’Angelo into the cell. Dijak is able to shut the door when Stacks throws himself in the way. Stacks takes Feast Your Eyes, and he is out.

The save by Stacks allows D’Angelo to recover, and D’Angelo gets up swinging a crowbar. Dijak eats shots from the crowbar, and D’Angelo slams the door in Dijak’s face to win the match.

Really good babyface promo by NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez in an interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Perez says beating a legend like Meiko Satomura means as much to her as winning the title altogether. Perez vows to leaving everything in the ring in trying to defend her title tonight.

Gallus and Pretty Deadly are face-to-face

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus, dressed in street clothes, are heading to the ring to call out Pretty Deadly for a face-to-face meeting. Instead, Pretty Deadly appears on a perch overlooking the ring.

There is bantering back and forth, which leads to Pretty Deadly to challenge Gallus to defend their titles against them. Gallus takes off the straps, and they lay the belts into the ring. They dare Pretty Deadly to come take them.

Pretty Deadly charges to the ring, and Gallus cleans house. Gallus makes short work of Pretty Deadly, and Gallus boots them out of the ring. Pretty Deadly sure looked like geeks here. Nonetheless, this somehow sets up a tag title match for next week on NXT. The match is made official later in the show.

A vignette hypes Ilja Dragunov in his feud with JD McDonagh.

Dragon Lee in his NXT debut is seen in the front row at ringside. He waves to the crowd, and the announces put him over.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker, Julius Creed & Brutus Creed defeated JInder Mahal, Veer & Sanga in a six-man tag team match

Brutus Creed pins Veer to win this trios bout. It was a slobberknocker by the end.

Lumbering giants and hoss fights early on. The trios bout then goes through a commercial break. Just before the split screen break, Breakker and the Creeds jump over the ropes with a flip dive trifecta. Suddenly, a lumbering match looks more like Fantastica Mania.

Heat on Julius Creed, and he is being worked over as the show returns from the break. Meanwhile, Carmelo Hayes is now at the announe desk for surprise guest commentary. Hot tag to Brutus, but he is soon cut off. Brutus quickly comes back with feats of strength. Breakker does a moonsault, and Julius follows with a 2 Cold Scorpio 450 splash.

The teams trade near falls. Near fall as Veer saves Sanga from taking a pin. Indus Sher does the old Demoltion finisher, but that pinning attempt is also broken up. Amid a melee, Breakker delivers some spears. Veer strikes to take out Breakker.

The Creeds double team Veer, and he is placed in a Doomsday Device. Brutus then leaps off the top rope wth a cannoball on Veer, and Brutus covers Veer for a three count.

A promotional tie-in with Progressive insurance highlights the toxic feud between Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne.

Johnny Gargano returns to NXT on The Grayson Waller Effect with special guest Shawn Michaels

Waller welomes viewers “to the most important Grayson Waller Effect of all time.” He gets right into it as Waller introduces Shawm Michaels. Full entrance for HBK, as he dances on stage dressed like he is going to a country music awards show. The crowd sings HBK’s theme, and they chant his name. He is over huge of course.

Michaels sits down with Waller behind a desk. Waller starts with a zinger about Bret Hart. Michaels asks Waller what is his problem with Michaels. Waller says Michaels is doing to Waller what Vince McMahon did to Michaels — he is holding him back. Huge eye roll.

Waller keeps accusing Michaels of holding him down. Michaels scoffs at that, and Michaels says Waller is not “the guy” because Waller lost at Vengeance Day. Michaels tells Waller to look in the mirror.

Waller claims the only reason Micahaels is in charge of NXT is becuase his friend Hunter had a heart attack. Shots fired! Michaels deflects that zinger, with Shawn saying he stepped in to help out his friend.

Michaels tells Waller to get something straight — Triple H used to run NXT, but HBK is steering the ship now. Waller responds by saying that ship is headed into an iceberg. Waller rants some more about how he is being held back.

Michaels says Waller is a part of NXT, but only a part. Waller does not take this well. He sarcastically asks Michaels when did he suddenly become a team player. HBK admits during his active career it was all about him, but Michaels says that changed the moment he walked into NXT. HBK felt this place was special.

Waller gets up and mocks Michaels. He rants about being tired of this place, and Waller runs down the NXT brand. Michaels finally has enough, and he shouts “ENOUGH!” Head coach Shawn suddenly morphs fully into The Heartbreak Kid as Michaels proceeds to cut a promo on Waller.

HBK can handle someone running down his name, but he will not allow Waller to run down the NXT brand. Waller asks HBK if that pisses him off, and HBK says it does. Waller then dares HBK to do something about it. Michaels takes off his jacket and says nothing more would make him happy that kicking Waller’s ass. But there is someone else who wants to kick Waller’s ass even more than HBK.

Michaels introduces a returing Johnny Gargano as Waller’s opponent for Stand & Deliver. “Johnny Wrestling” is back in NXT to defend the honor of the brand. Gargano rushes into the ring and he peppers Waller with punches. Waller powders.

Gigi Dolan defeated Jacy Jayne

Dolan pinned Jayne, and Jayne attacks Dolan after the match to get her heat back.

They had a wrestling match to settle a blood feud. Granted, they brawled and worked hard, but this was anticlimatic. Escpeially considering the build to this match and the other gimmicks used on this show, this grudge match never felt intense enough.

Jayne gets the heat on Dolan as the live studo audience seems to mostly sit on their hands. There is some chants and such, but there seems to be a clear lack of energy. Dolan eventually fights back, and she counters Jayne with a curcifix bomb to score a pinfall on Jayne.

Jayne jumps Dolan after the match to get her heat back. Jayne gets a folding chair, and they tease Pillmanizing Jayne’s neck. Referees pour into the ring to break up the post-match beatdown.

A reoccuring skit on the show has Josh Briggs finally agreeing with Fallon Henley that Kaina James is cheating on Brooks Jensen. Henley knows just what to do about it.

Main event made for Stand & Deliver

NXT Champion Bron Breakker comes out in what is sold as an impromptu segment. Breakker comes to the ring and grabs a microphone. Breakker addresses the main event of Stand & Deliver, and he calls out Carmelo Hayes.

Out comes Hayes to confront Breakker in the ring. This leads to them both agreeing to a title match at Stand & Deliver.

Tyler Bate is doing breathing exercises with Thea Hail in a backstage skit. Bate is helping Hail overcome her trauma. Andre Chase is happy to hear it is helping Hail. However, Duke Hudson is not buying it.

Joe Gacy (with Ava & The Dyad) defeated Andre Chase (with Duke Hudson & Thea Hail)

The match begins during a commercial break and is joined in progress. Silly gimmicks aside, Chase and Gacy have a good match.

Hail is trying to do her breathing exercises, but she suddenly explodes with rage. Hail storms over to Ava and screams at her. Ava just smirks at Hail, but Hail has apparently overcome her fear.

While Hail might have overcome fear, her antics at ringside distracts Chase. He takes the Upside Down from Gacy, and Gacy covers Chase for a pinfall.

Hudson’s explodes in a backstage skit, and there is turmoil within Chase U. Hudson says they aren’t a university, they are a joke.

Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre are practicaing witchcraft, or something like that.

Another open challenge next week for NXT North Amercian Champion Wes Lee.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defeated Meiko Satomura to retain her title

Perez pinned Satomura in a great match. Although Perez retains, she is unconsious after the match in an injury angle. In a takeoff of an angle with Shawn Michaels on Raw in the mid-90s, Perez takes a number of shots to the head. That leads into the injury angle after the match.

After the ring introductions, the match begins during a split-screen commercial break. The bout is joined in progress when the show returns from the break.

Satomura works a leg, but Perez is able to counter. Satomura plays subtle heel. Perez shows a ton of fire as she fights a mentor. Proverbially turning of the tables as Perez uses a dragon screw to target Satomura’s leg.

Perez fires up on Satomura, showing even more fire. Perez avoids Satomura’s finisher, and Perez leaps through the ropes with a dive outside the ring. They go on to tease a superplex and other spots on the top rope. Satomura goes for a splash, but Perez gets her knees up.

Satomura cuts off Perez with a lots of kicks. They trade near falls and they trade strikes down the home stretch. Combos and and a Saito suplex by Satomura, but Perez kicks out. Satomura uses a Death Valley Driver, and Satomura follows with a signature falling kick. Yet, Perez valiantly kicks out again.

The fight spills onto the apron, and they trade strikes and kicks. They fight on the floor, and Perez goes for Pop Rocks. Satomura blocks it somehow, and Satomura delivers a kick on the floor. Perez is rolled back into the ring, where she gets a foot on the bottom rope to break a count.

Satomura goes for her Scorpio Rising finisher, but Perez counters to roll up Satomura for a three count. Perez withstood the onslaught and retains her title. Perez is motionless as she lays face down in the ring. She is unconious as referees pour into the ring.

Booker T leaves the announce desk to check on Perez. Medical staff and referees tend to Perez as Satomura is in tears. Perez leaves on a stretcher. Shawn Michaels also comes out to check on Perez as she is taken to a waiting ambuance. Michaels is fittingly involved in an on-screen role with the injury angle, as he starred in a similar cliffanger years ago. The show closes with Perez being loaded into an ambulance.

WWE NXT live results: Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate

Two of NXT’s brightest stars will face off in a singles match for the first time ever tonight.

With both wanting to be the next challenger for Bron Breakker’s NXT Championship, Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate is set to take place on NXT. Last week’s episode saw Hayes stare down Breakker after Breakker retained the NXT title against Jinder Mahal.

Gigi Dolin returned to NXT last week for the first time since the implosion of Toxic Attraction. She immediately went after her former tag team partner Jacy Jayne, attacking Jayne during a match against Indi Hartwell. Dolin will address Jayne on tonight’s show.

Wes Lee issues another challenge for his NXT North American Championship tonight. He retained against Von Wagner in an open challenge two weeks ago.

Meiko Satomura, who is facing Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at Roadblock next Tuesday, will be in action against Zoey Stark. Sol Ruca vs. Elektra Lopez and Briggs & Jensen vs. Indus Sher have also been confirmed for tonight.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with bedlam backstage. Wrestlers were trying to brawl their way to the ring, looking to answer the open challenge thrown down by NXT North American Wes Lee.

A swarm of bodies continue to fight. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe make it on the stage. As they try to decide which one will answer the open challenge, Dabba-Kato comes through like a freight train. He blasts through Blade and Enofe, plowing his way down the aisle. Dabba-Kato pauses at the end of the entrance ramp, very sure of himself.

Out of nowhere, Apollo Crews comes flying in to ambush Dabba-Kato. Crews peppers Dabba-Kato, but Crews is caught by an Undertaker goozle from Kato. Suddenly, a returning Nathan Frazier comes running down the ramp. Frazier leaps over Crews and Dabba-Kato, and Frazier jumps into the ring to answer the open challenege.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defeated Nathan Frazier to retain his title

Lee pinned the returning Frazier, and normally I would be against someone losing upon making a big return. However, they had a banger, and Frazier still got over in losing. Great opener.

The live studio audience is hot from the start, chanting “welcome back” for Frazier. This is supposedly his first match on NXT since last October. Frazier returns with a bang, and he is back with a banger of a match in his return.

They wrestle through a commercial break. When the show returns from the break, Frazier attempts a Phoenix Splash, but Lee is able to avoid it. Frazier rolls through and hits the ropes. He and Lee collide when both go for a crossbody. Double down.

Frazier gets a close near fall after a quebrada into a Dragon sleeper. Suplex slop drop, but Lee gets a shoulder up. Another great near fall follows. The first tease a superplex before executing it. Frazier hangs on suplerplex, rolls through, and Lee delivers a twisting neckbreaker. Yet Lee kicks out. The champ is not out.

Lee fights back, and he runs corner to corner doing a flip dive over the ropes to the floor. Back in the ring, Lee delivers his Cardiac Kick finisher. Lee then covers Frazier for a pinfall, and the champ retains his North American title.

Lee and Frazier shake hands and hug after the match. They should be proud, as they had an outstanding match.

Brooks Jensen is feeling blue, and Josh Briggs tries to cheer him up in a locker room skit. Jensen is down about his relationship with Kiana James. They are still together, but he senses something isn’t right since Valentine’s Day. Briggs tries to cheer up Jensen, and Briggs tries to shift his focus to their match tonight.

Tyler Bate is the focus of a video package, hyping his match later tonight against Carmelo Hayes.

Hank Walker is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when Axiom comes in angry about the brawl earlier tonight. Axiom and Walker exchange words, and Walker is thrown into a rage like Bruce Banner. This would seem to set up a math between the two.

Indus Sher (Veer & Sanga with Jinder Mahal) defeated Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen

Veer pinned Jensen to win the match, after Jensen’s blues bleed over into his match. He costs his team the match.

Indus Sher works over the down-in-the-dumps Jensen. Briggs is growing frustrated, but he able to get the hot tag. Briggs is cleaning house when a groggy Jensen makes a blind tag. Jensen is slow to join in on tandem offense, and Briggs’ frustration boils over.

Briggs yells at Jensen, and Jensen is apologetic. Jensen rolls back into the ring, where he is caught in the clutches of Indus Sher. Sanga chokeslams Jensen, and Sanga whips Jensen towards Veer so that Veer can clobber him. Veer covers Jensen for a pinfall while Sanga blocks Briggs from making the save.

Mahal cuts a promo after the match, challenging The Creeds to find a third partner for a six-man tag match at NXT Roadblock.

Wendy Choo is attacked by an unknown assailant in the parking lot.

Gigi Dolan heads to the ring for a monologue. She enters to Toxic Attraction music. She cuts the music like Rick Rude, and Dolan says this is the last time she comes out to that theme music. She cuts a promo on her way into the ring. Holding a black rose, Dolan waxes on Jacy Jayne turning on her.

Things get very heavy, as Dolan brings up escaping an abusing relationship with her mother. Dolan likens it to the betrayal of Jayne. She goes on to cut a go-home promo, vowing to put a final nail in the coffin of Toxic Attraction.

A pre-taped skit with Chase U leads to The Schism hacking into the classroom for a threatening promo. Before Schism interrupts the Chase U class, Duke Hudson apologizes to Thea Hail for his behavior last week. However, Hudson notes he meant what he said about Chase U. That is when Schism hacks into the monitor, and the class turns into a horror flick. Normally I like the Chase U skits, but this was too silly for me.

In another pre-tape, Dijak threatens to lock up Tony D’Angelo in their jailhouse match next week at Roadblock. Rules of the gimmick match are no disqualification and no countout. First one to “incapacitate their opponent and “lock them inside jail cell” wins the match.

Meiko Satomura defeated Zoey Stark

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is ringside at the announce desk for guest commentary. Perez defends her title against Satomura at Roadblock next Tuesday.

Stark and Satomura wrestle through a commercial break, and their heated bout continues after the show returns. Satomura is great as usual, and Stark more than held her own. Really good stuff here.

Gettiing to look strong despite losing, Stark gets several close near falls. She goes for a 450, but Satomura moves. Stark rolls through, but Satomura cuts her off to deliver a Death Valley Driver. Scorpio Rises finisher by Satomura, and she pins Starks for the win.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker volunteers to be the Creeds partner for a trios match at Roadblock. Before Breakker can volunteer, Julius Creed has to ask Damon Kemp to be their partner. He turns them down, and Julius is embarrassed about it. Breakker and Brutus Creed pick on Julius, and they make fun of him over his hurt pride.

Sol Ruca defeated Elektra Lopez

Ruca pins Lopez in a short match that gives Ruca a win, while also setting up a post-match angle with Lopez and Valentina Feroz.

Ruca is shining when Lopez shoves her off the top rope, and Ruca crashes outside the ring. Lopez works over Ruca when they are back in the ring. Comeback by Ruca, and she is cut off by Lopez.

Valentina Feroz is ringside, and the reason why is clear at the finish. Lopez goes to retrieve brass knux she had wanted stashed in a turnbuckle pad. Feroz had the knux instead. Lopez is distracted by the mishap, and Ruca catches Lopez with a springboard cutter. Ruca then scores a pinfall.

Lopez shoves Feroz in anger after the match, and Lopez piefaces her. Feroz then decks Lopez with the brass knux, and Lopez is knocked out.

Wofgang committs assault in a skit at a pup. Gallus is there playing pool, and Coffey gets Wolfgang fired up. So, Wolfgang beats up a guy that bumps into him.

Pretty Deadly in a backstage interview challenge Gallus to a match next week at Roadblock.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Katana Chance (with Kayden Carter)

This match was set up in a backstage skit earlier in the show.

Heat on Chance, leading to a rally by Chance and a comeback. Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre come down to ringside, which distracts Chance. Stratton capitalizes, and Stratton does a Christopher Daniels’ BME. Stratton then scores a pinfall.

Stratton in a post-match promo, vows to win the women’s title from whoever wins at Roadblock, be it Satomura or Perez.

Briggs & Jensen make up and mend fences … at least for now. Sadly, I fear this is leading to heartbreak for Jensen.

Axiom defeated Hank Walker

Axiom pinned Walker in a match set up earlier in the show.

Despite dropping the fall, the lose still provided some character development with Walker. This also provided Axiom with a good win over a larger opponent. Axiom won via pinfall after using his Golden Ratio finisher.

Shawn Michaels as the special guest on The Grayson Waller Effect is official for Roadblock next Tuesday.

Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeated Tyler Bate

Hayes pinned Bate in a great match. Bangers bookend this episode of NXT, as the show opens with a banger of a match, and the episode closes with another banger.

Great sequences and reversals. Bell-to-bell, this was good as anything on the main roster. Just before the final commercial break on the show, Bate leaps over the ropes for a flip dive to the floor.

Hayes does a wicked-looking sprinboard suplex during a split-screen break. Trick Williams tries to interfere at one point, and Bate knocks him off the apron. Standing shooting star by Bate for a two count.

They would go on to trade near falls. Bate with an airplane spin, but Hayes kicks out. Then a slingshot lariat by Bate for two and half. Hayes with a double underhook into a falcon arrow, but Bate kicks out. Suplex into a cutter by Hayes, only for Bate to kick out yet again.

Bate with a super Northern Lights off the top rope, and Bate tries to follow up with his twisting swanton finisher. No water in the pool, thanks in part to more interference by Williams. Hayes then strikes with a codebreaker. Calling his shot, Breakker is “nothing but net” as he leapt high off the top rope to deliver a flying legdrop. Hayes then covers Bate for the deciding pinfall. Great match.

I question pinning Bate clean so soon after his return, but Hayes looks like a superstar. Hayes is clearly being positioned as the challenger for Breakker at Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend. Hayes breaks the fourth wall as he looks into the camera to cut a promo on Breakker as the show goes off the air.

WWE NXT live results: Bron Breakker vs. Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal has a chance to become NXT Champion tonight.

The former WWE Champion will be looking to claim gold as he challenges Bron Breakker on tonight’s episode of NXT. The match was made official after a confrontation between the two last week.

Mahal pointed out that there’s a small pocket of NXT fans who once loved Breakker but are now changing their tune on him. After calling Breakker tired and weak, Mahal challenged him to an NXT Championship match.

The NXT Tag Team Champions are set for non-title action tonight. Gallus will take on Malik Blade & Edris Enofe. Blade & Enofe are attempting to prove that they’re worthy of a title shot.

Four other matches have also been confirmed for the show. Ilja Dragunov faces off with Trick Williams, Jacy Jayne takes on Indi Hartwell, Chase U battle The Dyad, and Alba Fyre faces Ivy Nile.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show opens with the entrance of Trick Williams. He looks to be getting pushed as a singles wrestler apart from Carmelo Hayes. While the Hayes and Williams characters remain on good terms, Williams is getting some spotlight of his own.

Williams raps and cuts a promo on his way to the ring. He says he is here to prove he can do more than talk. He can back up anything he says, and Williams vows to beat Ilja Dragunov “into an oblivion.”

Ilja Dragunov defeated Trick Williams

Dragunov pinned Williams after Torpedo Moscow. At times this was bowling shoe ugly, but this is developmental.

They wrestled through a commercial break, which was probably unnecessary. Dragunov worked hard to carry things. Not pretty at times, but they got through it. Bless their hearts. This went too long.

JD McDonagh joined Vic Joseph and Booker T at the announce desk for guest commentary. McDonagh is currently in a program with Dragunov, and they glare at each other after the match.

Fallon Henley is in the locker room is trying to call Brooks Jensen. He is currently mad at Henley about the angle from last week, where Henley falsely accused Kaina James of being cheating on Jensen. Brooks urges Henley to make amends, but Henley says Jensen will not return her numerous phone calls. Henley leaves to find James, so she can apologize in person.

Earlier today, Meiko Satomura is leading a training class at the Performance Center. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez enthusiastically asks to join the class. Students kept dropping out of the seminar as the grueling tasks grew more difficult. Perez was the last left standing with Satomura. Just when Perez thinks it is over, Satomura says that is just a warmup. To be continued…

Tyler Bate in street clothes heads to the ring for a monologue. This was dragging more than the opener when The Schism interrupts Bate. Joe Gacy leads The Dyad and Ava (who has “Raine” as a last name). They surround the ring, and Bate is trapped. He cannot escape a rambling Gacy promo, where Ava also chimes in atimes.

Gacy and Ava are saying Bate is alone when Chase U hits the ring. Andre Chase and Duke Hudson have a match with The Dyad that is up next after a commercial break.

The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler with Joe Gacy & Ava) defeated Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Thea Hail)

Fowler pinned Hudson, after Hudson is double-teamed when Chase leaves the ring to save Hail from Ava. Tension within Chase U after the match.

The match is joined in progress as the show returns from commercial break. The Dyad work over Chase, building anticipation for a hot tag to Hudson. He finally tag in, and Hudson runs wild like an ’80s babyface. He even does a flip, flop and fly.

Wacky tandem offense by Chase U gets them a near fall. Hudson is blindsided on the floor, and the show cuts to another commercial break. They build to a second hot tag as the show returns from the break. Chase cleans house this time. The Dyad try to double team, but Chase holds his own against the odds.

Chase moonsaults to the floor off the middle turnbuckle on Fowler. Chase immediately climbs the turnbuckle again for a high cross on Reid. Fowler jumps back into the ring to breakup the subsequent pinning attempt.

Slugfest turns into a Garvin Stomp. Ava at ringside begins to stalk Thea Hail. She was recently kidnapped by Ava and Schism. Chase leaves the ring to check on Hail, and Chase backs Ava away. Hail looks scared. Meanwhile, Hudson is left alone in the ring against The Dyad.

Hudson does not see a bling tag by The Dyad, and they deliver a stereo codebreaker to Hudson. Fowler covers Hudson for a pinfall. Chase tries to make a save, but to no avail. Chase U loses against The Dyad.

Hudson screams at Chase after the match. Hudson yells that Chase should let Hail “grow up.” Hudson storms out as Hail is in tears saying it is all her fault.

A locker room skit sets up a match tonight between Von Wagner and Tony D’Angelo. Mr. Stone tries to talk Wagner out of the match, but D’Angelo and Stacks bait Wagner into accepting the challenge. Stone chides Wagner for being talked into the match, and Wagner yells at Stone.

Another great personality profile highlights Sol Ruca. This was even better than the one from last week. She is a great babyface character. Tonight’s video package focuses on her skateboarding, and she is no Johnny Ace. She can skate, and she looks like a star.

Jacy Jayne defeated Indi Hartwell via disqualification

Hartwell is disqualified when Gigi Dolan runs in to attack Jayne. Not the best way to showcase Jayne in her new role as a top heel on the show. Why not have her beat someone decisively, and then have Dolan run in? They did not do that. Instead there is this average match, and a DQ finish.

Just before Dolan runs in, Jayne tries getting over a signature spot. With Hartwell seated in a corner, Jayne kisses her forehead before booting her in the face. This is apparently “The Kiss of Death” as it was called on commentary. Jayne is signaling for a second Kiss of Death when Dolan ran down for the sneak attack.

The referee DQ’s Hartwell for the blatant interference. Dolan brawls on the floor with Jayne, and Dolan chases Jayne off stage.

The training session continues with Meiko Satomura and Roxanne Perez. Satormura pushes Perez to her limits. Satomura ends the session by saying she will see Perez in two weeks for their title match.

Satomura is the topic of conversation when Zoey Stark is interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell. Stark is clearly jealous of Satomura getting a title shot ahead of her. Stark threatens to show Satomura who is “the real final boss” if they ever meet in the ring. Later in the show, Stark against Satomura is made official for next Tuesday on NXT.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus (Joe Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated Endris Enofe & Malik Blade in a non-title match

Wolfgang pinned Blade to handedly win the match.

Enfoe and Blade got some moments to shine, including with Enofe doing a Perry Saturn flying elbow drop. Gallus being the bruisers they are, they ultimately prevailed with power moves.

Two dudes enter the scene after the match carrying a cake. If you know the history of cakes in pro wrestling, you can tell where of this story is heading. The dudes say they are here on behalf of Pretty Deadly to wish Gallus a happy anniversary.

Pretty Deadly was trolling Gallus, as the anniversary was for when Pretty Deadly beat Gallus in a match a couple years ago. Gallus jumps the dudes and they smash their faces into the cake.

The cake was a red herring, as Pretty Deadly run in swinging folding chairs. They attack Gallus, and Pretty Deadly pepper them with chair shots to the back. Pretty Deadly smash Gallus into the ring steps several times. Kit Wilson assists Elton Prince in giving Woflgang a powerbomb on the steps. Pretty Deadly leaves Gallus laid out.

Dabba-Kato cuts a promo on Apollo Crews.

The announcers are plugging Stand & Deliver for WrestleMania weekend when Stevie Turner hacks into the show to cut a promo on Lyra Valkyria.

Tony D’Angleo (with Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo) defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Wagner is pinned clean by D’Angelo. Mr. Stone is very displeased with the result, especially after having cautioned Wagner earlier tonight about taking the match.

Plodding match, which seems to be reoccuring theme on this episode of NXT. D’Angelo does a side suplex into a uranage for his finisher, and then D’Angelo pins Wagner clean as a sheet.

Kelly Kincaid does a post-match interview with D’Angelo and Stacks. D’Angelo challenges Dijak to a “jailhouse street fight” at NXT Roadblock. D’Angelo gives Dijak a week to answer the challenge.

McKenzie Mitchell in a backstage interview asks Nikkia Lyons to shed some light on who attacked Lyons. They are interrupted by Tiffany Stratton, who is annoying as part of ger gimmick, so she annoyed viewers.

Despite Isla Dawn planting seeds of dissension, Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley appear to be on the same page, but Paxley’s body language may say otherwise in a backstage skit.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams are in the trainer’s room when Tyler Bate interrupts them. Bate means well. Nonetheless, this seems to set up a match between Hayes and Bate. This was an odd skit.

Alba Fyre (with Isla Dawn) defeated Ivy Nile (with Tatum Paxley)

Fyre pinned Nile to win the match. Furthering the seeds the dissension, the story of the finish is Paxley inadvertently costs Nile the match.

Nile counters a Gory Bomb, with a sunset bomb for a two count. Nile then applies a Dragon Sleeper. Dawn causes a distraction by jumping onto the apron. Paxley then jumps on the apron seemingly trying to help. Nile collides with Paxley, and Nile bonks her head. Fyre then executes a Gory Bomb, and Fyre covers Nile for a three count.

Fallon Henley comes to Kaina James office to apologize. There is some banter between them, but they shake hands and agree to be partners. That is probably a good thing since they already are the reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.

A music video hypes NXT Champion Bron Breakker ahead of his title defense in tonight’s main event.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee announces he is putting his title on the line in another open challenge next Tuesday on NXT.

Besides the open challenge, also announced for next week is Meiko Satomura against Zoey Stark. Carmelo Hayes vs. Tyler Bate is also official for next week.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker defeated Jinder Mahal to retain his title

Breakker pinned Mahal clean in a competitive match.

Indus Sher (Veer and Sanga) are in Mahal corner for the early portion of the match. Upon a double down in the ring, Veer and Sanga get on the ring apron. They seem ready to interfere when The Creed Brothers run down to pull Indus Sher off the apron. Brutus and Julius Creed brawl  at ringside with Veer and Sanga as the show cuts to its final commercial break.

During the break, Indus Sher and the Creeds brawl their way off the soundstage. The match continues in the ring, and the fight soon spills outside. Mahal smashes Breakker into the ring steps. The spot might have gotten more heat if the live studio audience hadn’t already seen a much more dramatic  and violent version of that spot earlier in the show.

Breakker fights back to rally. Breakker fires back and delivers some suplexes. Spinebuster by Breakker and he signals for a spear. Breakker also pulls down the straps on his singlet. Mahal powders and rolls outside. Breakker is baited into following Mahal, and Mahal catches Breakker with one of the oldest tricks in the heel playbook.

Breakker eats a knee and takes a vertical suplex, but he kicks out at two. Mahal taunts Breakker and starts slapping Breakker in the face. This awakens the monster within. Breakker goes on to do a Super Frankensteiner. Delayed reaction, but Mahal takes a bump anyway. Mahal kicks out after also taking a release vertical suplex.

As they go home, Breakker climbs the ropes. He leaps off the middle rope, and Mahal boots Breakker with a high kick. Mahal goes for his finisher, but Breakker counters The Khallas. Breakker then nails a spear, and Breakker covers Mahal for the deciding pinfall.

Carmelo Hayes appears on a perch overlooking the ring, and he locks eyes with Breakker for a staredown. This seems to indicate Breakker’s next challenger.

Grayson Waller has a challenge for Shawn Michaels at NXT Roadblock

Spoofing the Tubi commercial from the Super Bowl, the television screen suddenly looks like its loading WWE section of the Peacock app. “Stand & Deliver” is selected, and Grayson Waller is revealed as the person working the remote. He has taken over the production truck. Waller has a message for Shawn Michaels.

While HBK is “Mr. WrestleMania,” Waller proclaims he is “Mr. Stand & Deliver” and the new “Showstopper.” Waller says Stand & Deliver is going to be his show. Waller goes on to say no one will hold him back.

Waller dares Michaels to be his guest on a special edition of The Grayson Waller Effect at NXT Roadblock.

WWE NXT live results: Jacy Jayne explains her actions

One week after turning against Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne will explain her actions on NXT tonight.

Toxic Attraction came to an end with Jayne attacking Dolin on NXT last Tuesday. At the conclusion of a “Ding Dong, Hello!” segment, Jayne betrayed Dolin by slamming her head-first into a door and then kicking her in the head. Their breakup came after Roxanne Perez defeated Dolin and Jayne in a triple threat match at Vengeance Day to remain NXT Women’s Champion.

Bron Breakker retained his NXT Championship by defeating Grayson Waller in a steel cage match at Vengeance Day. Tonight, Breakker returns to NXT for the first time since that title defense.

Meiko Satomura also returns to NXT tonight as she teams with Perez against Katana Chance & Kayden Carter.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defends his title in an open challenge tonight. Tyler Bate vs. Waller, Thea Hail vs. Tiffany Stratton, Hank Walker vs. Charlie Dempsey, and Axiom vs. Damon Kemp have also been announced for the episode.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

Opening the show is a men’s singles match set up last week. During entrances for the opener, Jacy Jayne is shown in a split-screen as she is arriving to the Performance Center.

Tyler Bate defeated Grayson Waller

Bate pinned Waller in a great bout. This was one of Waller’s best matches on NXT television, if not his best. Bate is a fantastic pro wrestler.

Waller gets the drop on Bate at the start. Bate fights back and peppers Waller, but Waller cuts off Bate some time thereafter. Bate again fights back, and he steps up his attack. Standing shooting star by Bate leads to the first pinning attempt of the match, but Waller kicks out.

The fighting spills outside and they brawl around ringside. Waller hops back into the ring, only to return outside with a baseball slide. Waller slides out to the floor, and he hits Bate with a lariat just before the show cuts to a split-screen commercial break.

Waller is punishing Bate as the show comes back from commercial. Bate comes back yet again with a rally. Stepping up his attack once more, Bate twice springs off the ropes to counter Waller. Bate also jumps off the middle rope with a flying uppercut, and he follows with a side suplex. Bate holds on for a cradle, but Wallers kicks out again. Bate utilizes an airplane spin for another near fall.

Snuffing out the rally, Waller counters Bate for a near fall. It was Bate’s turn to kick out. Amid dueling chants, Waller tunes up the band for Sweet Chin Music like he is Shawn Michaels. Waller stomps the mat signaling for a superkick. Bate blocks it, and Bate delivers a superkick of his own. Bate goes for a cover, but Waller is able to get a rope break in a last ditch effort.

Waller gets a two count with a handful of trunks just before they go home. For the finish, Bate does a sunset flip into the ring. Waller drops to his knees and hooks Bate’s legs for a pin cover. Waller then cheats by grabbing the ropes for illegal leverage. The referee catches Waller and breaks the count. Bate reverses the pinning attempt, and he cradles Waller for a three count to win the match. Waller protests with the ref, but he lost.

Waller would later storm into the Gorilla Position screaming at Shawn Michaels. Waller is yelling at HBK when Matt Bloom steps in to push Waller out of Gorilla.

Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen are talking in the locker room. Jensen is nervous because he is a virgin who has never kissed a girl. Tonight he has a date with Kiana James. Briggs is giving him a pep talk when in walks Fallon Henley, and she reluctantly tells Jensen to have a good time. Away Jensen goes, headed for his date Kiana.

Apollo Crews in a vignette addresses Dabbo-Kato about the sneak attack at Vengeance Day. Crews is angry and confused about being jumped, and Crews briefly talks about his history with Dabbo-Kato on the main roster. Crews is now out for revenge.

Jacy Jayne is headed to the ring for a monologue. Jayne begins by proclaiming she is the talk of NXT. Ranting about herself, Jayne boasts about booting Gigi Dolan in the face. Jayce says she has watched it a thousand times, but what is better than that? A thousand and one, and Jayne throws to a video package that recaps the turn from last week.

Jayne mocks Dolan, and Jayne insults the live studio audience. The angle last week spoofed the breakup of the Rockers, and Jayne says Dolan is “Jannetty” in this scenario. Jayne also calls her “Chucky” before saying no ones cares about her. “Screw you,” Jayne says in addressing Dolan.

Jayne proclaims herself to be the “last women standing” amongst the Toxic Attraction trio.

Thea Hail is preparing for her match when Duke Hudson asks her what happened when Schism kidnapped her last week. She does not explain, and Andre Chase tells her she can postpone her match tonight. Hail responds by saying that is “the Chase U way,” and she heads to the ring.

A vignette profiles Sol Ruca. She is a free spirit. Ruca details her background and past, and shows her future sure looks bright. Great stuff here.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Thea Hail (with Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

Stratton pinned Hail after distraction from The Schism. More of a plot device than a match, Hail is sure bothered by the cult faction.

The Dyad team from The Schism group show up standing in the studio audience wearing masks, which distracts Hail. Joe Gacy appears a few moments later standing on a perch above the ring. The sight of him distresses Hail, and she pleads with him to go away like he is a monster in a horror film.

Stratton takes advantage of the distraction, and Stratton works over Hail. Despite that, Hail fights from underneath as a babyface in peril. Hail makes a comeback, and she leaps out of the ring with a dive. Ava Raine then appears at ringside, which further distracts Hail. Stratton capitalizes, and Stratton does the Christopher Daniels’ Best Moonsault Ever. Stratton then scores a pinfall.

Javier Bernal in a skit asks Tatum Paxley to be his Valentine. Bernal then turns to ask Ivy Nile, and she puts him in a Dragon Sleeper. Suddenly, the voice of Isla Dawn is cutting a promo on Paxley and Nile. This was about as good as the worst Dungeon of Doom skit in WCW.

Axiom defeated Damon Kemp

Axiom pinned Kemp in a short, but good match. The match was set up two weeks ago when Kemp attacked Axiom, who gets his revenge tonight.

Hot start by Axiom with some flying moves. Kemp cuts him off, and Kemp punishes Axiom for a brief time. Electric chair into a German suplex by Kemp for a near fall. From there, Axiom makes a comeback. Golden Ratio finisher, and Axiom scores a pinfall.

Jinder Mahal challenges NXT Champion Bron Breakker to a title match

Breakker gets in the ring for what seems to be a monologue. The NXT champ begins speaking, and he is soon interrupted by Jinder Mahal and Indus Sher (Sanga & Veer). Mahal confronts Breakker, and Mahal at first compliments Breakker on being the face of the brand as champion.

Mahal goes on to talk about how he relates to how Breakker having to carry the brand as the champion. Mahal shifts direction as he brings up a small minority of fans that have turned on Breakker. This notion is sold with a group of fans heckling Breakker.

Mahal challenges Breakker to a title match next Tuesday on NXT, and Breakker accepts the challenge. Breakker jokes that Mahal is with the new 3MB, and the studio audience chants “3MB” at Mahal and Indus Sher.

Mahal insists the fans still do not like Breakker, and he insults Breakker one last time before Mahal vows to win the NXT title next week.

Indi Hartwell cuts a promo on Jacy Jayne, which could seem to set up a match between the two.

Wes Lee comes to the ring ready to defend his North American Championship in an open challenge. Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo had last week both teased answering the challenge. They are making their entrance when D’Angelo is attacked by Dijak. Stacks comes to the D’Angelo’s aid, and all three scuffle their way off the stage.

Meanwhile, Lee is watching the melee when he is jumped by Von Wagner. He is answering the open challenge. Wagner pummels Lee as the bell sounds to start the title match.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone) to retain his title

Lee pinned Wagner in a short, action-packed match. Wagner lost clean, so his push is seemingly on the rocks despite being a monster heel. On the other hand, Lee is getting a strong push.

Wagner is in control as the match underway, but Lee soon fights back. The monster heel cuts off the champion, and Wagner proceeds to pummel Lee some more. Outside the ring, Wagner smashes Lee’s head on the announce desk.

Lee still manages to make a comeback, and he staggers Wagner with a series of superkicks. Lee delivers a Cardiac Kick, and Lee pins Wagner clean as a sheet. Down goes the monster.

In a skit that aired before the next match, Hank Walker is seen wearing his new gear. He wore a basic black singlet with “WALKER” across the front. News boots had not yet arrived, so Walker is wearing his old cowboy boots. Drew Gulak gifts Walker a pair of wrestling boots.

Charlie Dempsey defeated Hank Walker (with Drew Gulak)

Dempsey submits Walker in a short match. Dempsey stretches Walker, and Dempsey continues to do so after the match. Gulak does not try to help, and he has a staredown with Dempsey before Gulak leaves alongside Dempsey.

Mr. Stone rants and raves at Von Wagner in the locker room following Wagner’s loss earlier in the show.

NXT Tag Team Champions Gallus are playing pool in a bar when Pretty Deadly challenge them to game of billiards. Pretty Deadly lose a bunch of games in a row, and Gallus sticks them with a hefty bar tab. Somehow this all is leading to a tag team title match next week.

Ilja Dragunov is being interviewed backstage by McKenzie Mitchell when he is interrupted by Trick Williams, who is in the ring calling out Dragunov. Williams continues cutting a promo on Dragunov, as Dragunov makes his way to the ring. He confronts Williams face-to-face. Williams cheap shots Dragunov with a punch. Dragunov responds with a kick that drops Williams, and Williams rolls out of the ring.

Out comes JD McDonagh to confront Dragunov. McDonagh blames Dragunov for injuring his eye during an attack last Tuesday. McDonagh threatens to beat Dragunov so badly that he cannot hold his own son. That remark enrages Dragunov, and he looks ready to fight McDonagh. Before Dragunov can, he is jumped from behind by Williams. Dragunov is dropped by Williams, and McDonagh watches on. McDonagh teases getting into the ring, but he leaves instead.

Williams against Dragunov in a match is later made official for next Tuesday on NXT.

Kiana James is being dropped off at her home after her date with Brooks Jensen. This builds to them almost kissing when they are interrupted by Fallon Henley and Briggs. Henley insists on telling Jensen that James is cheating on him, but that is a swerve.

Turns out the Zack character that Henley overheard James profess her love to is James’ brother. Someone portraying him makes a cameo appearance, and Henley looks bad in ruining the romantic moment.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez & Meiko Satomura defeated Kayden Carter & Katana Chance

Satomura was fittingly treated like a returning legend. She and Perez get to shine before the show’s last commercial break. Perez does a dive through the ropes, and Satomura jumps off the apron with a senton as the show cuts to the split-screen break.

Chance and Carter are in control when the show returns from commercial, after having turned the tables during the break. Carter and Chance work over Perez, until Satomura tags back into the match. Satomura cleans house with kicks, and she gets a near fall on Carter.

The momentum shifts again when Perez back in. Satomura tries to clean house once more, but she is rocked with a codebreaker from Chance. Satomura is in trouble for the first time in this match. She still fights back, but she is double-teamed by Carter and Chance. Perez tries to help, but to no avail for the moment.

Satomura takes a Super Frankensteiner off the turnbuckles. Carter and Chance trie another tandem move, but Satomura has a counter this time. She fights with Carter, and Satomura lands a Pele kick before they go home. Perez tags in for the finish, and she executes Pop Rocks. Perez then pins Carter to win the match.

Satomura addresses Perez after the match, saying she did Perez a favor. To return the favor, Satomura wants a title match. Perez gladly accepts, and she tells Satomura it would be an honor to defend the championship against her at NXT Roadblock. Looks like the next challenger for Perez is Satomura.

WWE NXT live results: Vengeance Day fallout, Bayley appears

Bayley is headed to NXT for tonight’s Vengeance Day fallout edition of the show.

Bayley will make a special guest appearance on NXT as she hosts a “Ding Dong, Hello!” segment with Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. Dolin and Jayne came up short when they challenged Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship in a triple threat match at Vengeance Day this past Saturday.

Bron Breakker is still the NXT Champion after retaining his title against Grayson Waller in a steel cage match at Vengeance Day. After disrupting Shawn Michaels’ post-Vengeance Day press conference, Waller is currently “suspended” for one week.

Carmelo Hayes, who stared down Breakker at the end of Vengeance Day, looks to be the next challenger for Breakker’s title. Hayes defeated Apollo Crews on Saturday, winning two straight times in a best-of-three falls match.

Gallus and Fallon Henley & Kiana James are NXT’s new tag team champions coming out of Vengeance Day, while Wes Lee retained the North American title against Dijak after Dijak was distracted by Tony D’Angelo.

Lyra Valkyria vs. Valentina Feroz and Zoey Stark vs. Sol Ruca have been made official for tonight.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

As the show begins, Bayley is seen entering the Performance Center.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams enter the soundstage, and they are headed to the ring for a promo. Williams starts the in-ring promo by hyping up Carmelo Hayes. Hayes then speaks, and brags about beating Apollo Crews in a match at Vengeance Day.

Hayes says he has run through almost everyone, but there is one for him left to face. Before Hayes can say who that is, he is interrupted by JD McDonagh. He says its sounds like Hayes is about to challenge for the NXT title. McDonagh mocks Hayes as McDonagh makes his way onto the ring apron.

McDonagh admits that Hayes may be the coolest in NXT, but McDonagh claims that “in the ring where it matters, you’re not fit to hold my jockstrap, pal.” McDonagh also said that Hayes is not ready to be champion, nor is Hayes ready to be the face of NXT.

Hayes bickers with McDonagh, and McDonagh threatens Hayes. That leads to Hayes suggesting they have a match tonight, and McDonagh gets in Hayes’ face to accept the challenge. The match is made official for tonight.

The new NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Kaina James and Fallon Henley, are walking together backstage. Henley calls out James for cheating to win the titles, and James tries to get Henley to relax about that. Henley vows they will give the former champions a rematch.

Henley again brings up the mystery caller that James was overheard talking to, and Henley says she is going to tell Brooks Jensen about it. Henley storms in a dark room looking to spill the beans. She flips on the lights. Surprise! It’s a party for Henley. The room is filled with party goers there to congratulate Henley and James on winning the tag titles.

Grayson Waller is shown crashing Shawn Michaels’ post-show media call on Saturday after Vengeance Day. Waller is ranting at Michaels when Matt Bloom comes in and pushes Waller out of the room.

Zoey Stark defeated Sol Ruca

Stark pinned Ruca to win the match. Ruca was able to save face by giving Stark a stunner while counteracting a post-match attack.

Just before the finish, Ruca springboards into a Superfly splash, but Stark gets her knees up to block it. Stark then smashes Ruca into the turnbuckles, and Ruca delivers her modified GTS finisher. Stark then covers Ruca for a three count.

Stark jumps Ruca after the bout for a post-match attack. Ruca counters Stark to leave her laying with a stunner. Starks wins the match, but Ruca is the last standing between them.

The party celebrating the new women’s tag champs is still going, and Pretty Deadly is there looking disheveled after losing at Vengeance Day. They claim to have not slept since their loss on Saturday. Andre Chase and Chase U enter the scene, and Chase is pissed off. An apparently drunk Chase is so angry he challenges Pretty Deadly to a tag match tonight.

Dabba-Kato defeated Dante Chen

Dabba-Kato pinned Chen in a short, glorified squash match. Aside from a brief surge by Chen, this was all Dabba-Kato. Chen begins a rally, and Chen knocks Kato down to his knees. Dabba-Kato soon chops down Chen, and Kato lifts Chen into a sit-out tree slam. A three count follows.

As he is leaving the ring, Dabba-Kato is asked why he attacked Apollo Crews at Vengeance Day. Dabba-Kato says Crews knows what he did after he “dropped his ass.”

McKenzie Mitchell is interviewing NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez when they are interrupted by Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The forner tag team champions are salty over being cheated out of the tag titles. Carter and Chance heel on Perez, and they say Perez has no friends here. Perez is going to make a phone call to prove to them she has friends. This sets up a tag match for next week, and Perez’s friend in question is later revealed to be Meiko Satomura.

Isla Dawn (with Alba Fyre) defeated Tatum Paxley

Dawn pinned Paxley after a modified slop drop. This match was set up with a skit where Dawn accuses Paxley of being the unknown assailant that attacked Nikkita Lyons.

Dawn and Fyre circle a prone Paxley after the match, but Ivy Nile runs down to make a save. Dawn and Fyre scamper and flee. That seems to set up an upcoming tag match.

A mystery person arrives to the building in a Mercedes-Benz. Only the person’s dress shoes and black slacks are visible as the mysterious figure exits the vehicle.

Carmelo Hayes (with Trick Williams) defeated JD McDonagh

Hayes pinned McDonagh after the surprise return of Ilja Dragunov. The match itself was pretty good, but the psychology was odd considering neither are a protagonist. Both have been portrayed as heels. Nevertheless, McDonagh was the aggressor for much of the match, and he took most of the offense.

McDonagh works over Hayes, which builds to a comeback by Hayes. McDonagh is working over Hayes as the match goes through a split-screen commercial, and McDonagh dashes a few hope spots. Running Spanish Fly leads to a near fall for McDonagh. They would go on to trade near falls.

Hayes springboards off the middle rope to deliver a guillotine legdrop, but McDonagh kicks out at two. McDonagh kicks out again seconds later after taking a suplex into a stunner. McDonagh also gets a rope break when Hayes applies a crossface. Sit-out powerbomb by McDonagh for yet another near fall. Hayes pops up for a codebreaker, and McDonagh kicks out again.

Just before the finish, McDonagh knocks down Hayes with a headbutt. Suddenly, theme music blares as Ilja Dragunov runs down to take out Trick Williams with a leg lariat. McDonagh is distracted, which allows Hayes to cradle McDonagh for a three count.

Dragunov gets into the ring after the match, and he teases attacking Hayes. Dragunov instead attacks McDonagh, who in storyline put Dragunov out of action with an injury. Dragunov is out for revenge, and McDonaghs powders. Dragunov then chases McDonagh into the crowd.

Tiffany Stratton and Thea Hail argue in a backstage skit. Hail is then kidnapped by Ava Raine when Raine sneaks in to snatch Hail in a chokehold. Raine drags Hail away.

Lyra Valkyria defeated Valentina Feroz (with Wendy Choo)

Valkyria pinned Feroz to win the match. Elektra Lopez comes down to ringside looking to help Feroz. Lopez gives Feroz brass knux. That backfires on Feroz, and Valkyria lands an enzuigiri before Feroz can even use the knux. Valkyria follows with a roundhouse spin kick, and she covers Feroz for a pinfall.

A personality profile features NXT North American Champion Wes Lee from Saturday as he prepared to defend his title at Vengeance Day. The video package also features Lee’s wife. This is great stuff. Following the video diary is an interview with Lee. He is interrupted by Tony D’Angelo and Stacks. Lee dares D’Angelo or Stacks to answer Lee’s open challenge for a title match next Tuesday on NXT.

Kofi Kingston is recognized in a video package celebrating Black History Month.

Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo (with Tony D’Angelo) defeated Odyssey Jones

Stacks wins via pinfall in what could be considered an upset. Stacks is clearly getting a push as in his new role as an “underboss” within D’Angelo’s mafia family.

Jones manhandles Stacks at certain points, as the size difference is evident. Nonetheless, Stacks is able to cut off Jones. Jones makes a comeback, but Stacks cuts him off again with a DDT out of nowhere. Stacks follows with a wind-up punch and a knee drop. Stacks then scores a three count.

Jinder Mahal is with Indus Sher (Veer and Sanga) for a pre-taped promo. There two phase takeover of NXT is underway. Phase one is complete, and phase two is all three winning gold.

Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) defeated Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson)

Prince pinned Chase to win the match. Thea Hail runs down during the match, and she is distraught over her kidnapping earlier in the show.

Usually dressed to impress, Pretty Deadly are still looking as disheveled as they did earlier in the show. They regain some confidence during the match, and their attitudes perk up. They rally as the match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

Hot tag to Chase, and he cleans house on Pretty Deadly. Chase is a house of fire, but he is soon cut off and double teamed by Wilson and Prince. Hudson jumps back into the action to help save Chase. Hudson clotheslines Wilson out of the ring, leaving Chase alone in the ring with Prince for a Garvin Stomp.

Chase is running wild when a distraught Thea Hail runs down to ringside. She screams and yells, as Hudson tries to confront a fraught and distressed Hail. Meanwhile, Pretty Deadly make a bling tag. They execute Spilt Milk on Chase, and Prince covers Chase for a three count.

Hank Walker is backstage talking with his mentor, Drew Gulak. In walks Charlie Dempsey. There is some arguing and insults, which looks to set up a match with Walker against Dempsey.

Advertised for next Tuesday on NXT:

  • NXT Champion Bron Breakker returns
  • Open challenge for Wes Lee’s NXT North American Championship
  • NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez teams with Meiko Satomura against Kayden Carter and Katana Chase
  • Tyler Bate vs. Grayson Waller

Bayley hosts “Ding Dong, Hello!” with guests Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne

Bayley is back in NXT for a talking segment. She introduces the duo of Toxic Attraction. Dolan and Jayne enter together, but they tease dissension as they sit down for an interview by Bayley.

Bayley basically cuts to the chase and asks what happened between the two on Saturday. Jayne snarkily asks Dolan what happens, and Dolan turns the question around on her. You tell me. No, you tell me.

Jayne accuses Dolan of costing her the NXT Women’s Championship. Dolan responds by pointing out that Jayne dropped the fall, thus Dolan insists that Jayne cost Dolan the title. Jayne tells Dolan she wasn’t being a team player. They continue to bicker amongst themselves, and next come the personal insults.

Jayne says that Dolan’s gear on Saturday made her look like “a hobo who banged a Chucky doll.” Dolan again chided Jayne for dropping the fall on Saturday. Jayne was looking up at the lights. Dolan called it the “Jacy Jayne position.”

Bayley chimes in to try talking sense into Toxic Attraction. Before they split up and break up as a team, Bayley asks if they thought about what they would do as individuals. Dolan hadn’t thought about it she says, but Dolan said the sky is the limit for herself. Jayne says she is going straight to the top. Bayley seems skeptical.

Bayley reminds them it is easier to get to the top with a “ride or die” friend by their side. Dolan and Jayne then make up, and they vow to have one more run. They are like sisters to each other. Dolan and Jayne ponder making another run at the NXT women’s tag titles, but then they begin pondering challenging Damage CTRL (Io Sky & Dakota Kai) for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Damage CTRL is of course aligned with Bayley.

Bayley tries to change the subject by focusing on the here and now. Bayley gets Toxic Attraction to hug it out, and they seemingly are united again. Then comes a Shawn and Marty moment. Just like in the Barber Shop, Jayne lifts up Dolan’s hand like they are a team again, … just before a superkick of doom. Jayne turns on Dolan, and Jayne superkicks her.

Jayne smashes Dolan into the door that is part of the set. Jayne then boots Dolan in the face, and Dolan curls up in tears. Jayne stands over a fallen Dolan as the show goes off air.

WWE NXT live results: Vengeance Day go-home show

The lineup for Vengeance Day will be finalized on tonight’s episode of NXT.

Taking place on tonight’s show is a triple threat match to decide the final NXT Tag Team title challengers for Vengeance Day. Either Malik Blade & Edris Enofe, The Dyad, or Andre Chase & Duke Hudson will join The New Day, Pretty Deadly, and Gallus in Saturday’s fatal four-way bout for the NXT Tag Team titles.

Bron Breakker is defending his NXT Championship against Grayson Waller in a steel cage match at Vengeance Day. We’ll hear from both the champion and challenger tonight.

NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez will respond to Toxic Attraction’s attack from last week. Perez is defending her title against both Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne in a triple threat match at Vengeance Day.

Plus, The Creed Brothers finally take on Indus Sher tonight, Cora Jade faces Lyra Valkyria, and Stevie Turner makes her NXT in-ring debut.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show is opening with a tag team match that is weeks in the making.

Indus Sher (Sanga & Veer with Jinder Mahal) defeated The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed with Ivy Nile)

Veer pinned Julius Creed to win the match. Heading into the finish, Julius was distracted after he accidentally knocks Ivy Nile off the apron. That followed interference by Jinder Mahal. The bout was a slobberknocker in the closing minutes, but it was plodding up to that point.

The Creeds sold more for their larger opponents, especially Julius. Whereas they usually batter their competition, this was the other way around for much of the match. Indus Sher works over Julius for what felt like ages, but was more like several minutes.

Hot tag to Brutus Creed, and he cleans house with suplexes and hammer fists. Relatively quick tag brings Julius back into the bout. Brutus and Julius both do a standing moonsault, and Julius gets a near fall on Veer. Brutus spears Sanga out of the ring. Julius muscles Veer into a deadlift powerbomb for another two count.

Mahal interferes by grabbing Julius’ foot, and Julius responds by dragging Mahal onto the apron. Ivy Nile gets on the apron to confront Mahal, and she gets in his face. Nile is berating Mahal when Veer sends Julius into the ropes. Julius ducks a clothesline and hits the ropes on the side Nile is standing on. Nile takes a spill on the outside, and she lands hard on the floor. Julius is wide-eyed and seemingly in disbelief as he walks into a Stan Hansen lariat. Veer then chokeslams Julius, and he covers him for a pinfall.

Tyler Bate in a skit starts a conversation with Axiom, who is watching an A-Kid match from NXT UK. Bate tells Axiom that he reminds him of A-Kid, and Axiom says he gets that a lot. He thinks it must be his eyes, which is a joke since he is wearing a mask. In a friendly manner, they are agreeing to have a match tonight when in walks Damon Kemp. He mocks Axiom and Bate, and Kemp then insults the British style of wrestling.

Zoey Stark defeated Indi Hartwell

Stark pinned Hartwell after delivering her modified GTS finisher. So-so match, but the push of Stark continues. The outcome of this match and a post-match attack lead to Sol Ruca making a save to build her emerging feud with Stark.

This match was set up via a locker room skit where Stark and Hartwell argue over their respective performances in the Royal Rumble. Sol Ruca sticks up for Hartwell, and Stark tells Ruca to stay out of her business. Ruca reminded Stark that Hartwell beat Stark once before, but Stark gets her win back here tonight.

The Schism cut a promo ahead of The Dyad’s upcoming tag match tonight.

Apollo Crews cuts a promo talking his plans for the two-out-of-three falls match against Carmelo Hayes this Saturday at Vengeance Day.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee is headed to the ring for an in-ring monologue. Lee discusses his title defense set for Vengeance Day, and Lee vows to retain against Dijak. Out comes Dijak to interrupt Lee, and Dijak threatens Lee with violence. Lee responds by standing up to Dijak’s bully tactics. Von Wagner and Mr. Stone interrupt champion and challenger.

Wagner gets into the ring to confront Dijak, and Lee eggs on a beef between Wagner and Dijak. Wagner feels overlooked as a title contender. Lee proposes a match tonight with Dijak against Wagner. A brawl erupts where Dijak and Wagner slug it out. The match is made official, and the show cuts to the commercial break as their bout begins.

Dijak defeated Von Wagner (with Mr. Stone)

Dijak pinned Wagner in a match that builds anticipation ahead of Dijak challenging for the North American title on Saturday. I question the logic of beating Wagner so cleanly, but they have a decent enough battle of the tough guys.

Both seem like heels, but this must be shades of grey. They have a hoss fight regardless, and there are some heavy-hitting spots. They trade near falls. Dijak gets a two count after chokeslaming Wagner. Moments later, Wagner gives Dijak a butterfly superplex off the ropes.

For the finish, Dijak catches Wagner in a chokehold. Wagner went to slam Dijak, but Dijak countered into the choke. Dijak then executes Feast Your Eyes, and Dijak covers Wagner for a three count.

Tony D’Angelo and Stacks in a skit talk about going to take care of things. Stack took care of that one thing, and D’Angelo says they should go take care of the other thing.

McKenzie Mitchell breaks down video footage of Nikkita Lyons’ attack. Lots of questions and no answers on the unknown assailant in what seems like a Tonya Harding type of assault.

An “Inside Look” into the NXT title match at Vengeance Day details NXT Champion Bron Breakker’s feud with Grayson Waller. They meet Saturday in a cage match with the title at stake.

Tyler Bate defeated Axiom

Bate pinned Axiom in what is so far the best match on the show. They had a clinic at the start, and they eventually increase their pacing and intensity. The finishing sequence was great.

Playing on this being friendly competition, they have a babyface match. They grapple and trade moves. They both spill out to the floor, and both are down selling as show cuts to commercials. The match goes through a split-screen commercial break.

They trade submission hold and they also trade near falls. As they go home, they traded counters. Bate looks to set up his finisher, but Axiom has a counter. Bate has a counter of his own as well, and he ultimately delivers the Tyler Driver ’97. Bate then covers Axiom for a pinfall.

Damon Kemp runs in to attack Axiom after the match. Axiom is shaking hands with Bate in a show of sportsmanship when Kemp blindsides Axiom with a sneak attack.

Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre have apparently joined forces in a unholy alliance. They practice some witchcraft to seal the deal.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. Hayes cuts a good promo on Apollo Crews ahead of their match at Vengeance Day.

The announcers, Vic Joseph and Booker T, throw to a sit-down interview with Toxic Attraction and NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez in separate places. This was similar to the old “Face-to-Face” segments on Superstars back in the day, where the heels and babyface bicker back-and-forth while hyping their upcoming match.

The duo of Toxic Attraction, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne, are facing Perez in a triple threat title match at Vengeance Day. The heel duo insult Perez so much that Perez seemingly storms out of the interview. Jayne and Dolan look to end the segment by cutting promos on Perez. There is a slight tease of tension within Toxic Attraction, just as Perez runs in to attack Dolan and Jayne.

Stevie Turner defeated Dani Palmer

Turner pinned Palmer in what is Turner’s in-ring debut on NXT with her new gimmick. Turner’s gimmick is she is a streamer and podcaster, and her look reminds me of something out of Blade Runner.

Palmer got some offense, but this was basically a showcase match for Turner. A pump kick by Turner led into a wicked looking DDT. Turner then uses a uranage for her finisher, and she covers Palmer for a pinfall. Vic Joseph called the finish “futuristic” like this is the second coming of Techno Team 2000 or something.

Drew Gulak (with Hank Walker) defeated Charlie Dempsey

Gulak pinned Dempsey, thanks in part to inadvertent help from Walker. Technically speaking this was a good match, and it was possibly better in that regard than Bate against Axiom from earlier on the show. However, this match was not as exciting as Bate-Axiom.

They wrestled through a split-screen commercial break. Great grappling and submission sequences in this bout, but the live studio audience seemed to sit on their hands at times. They might not have known who to cheer for, as both have been heels in recent weeks. The crowd eventually starts to clap and rally around Dempsey.

Gulak is struggling to break a crossface chicken wing applied by Dempsey. Walker shouts some encouragement for Gulak to counter, and Gulak does find a way escape the hold. In doing so, Gulak sends Dempsey crashing into Walker. Gulak then uses a schoolboy to roll up a dazed Dempsey for a three count.

Chase U (Andre Chase & Duke Hudson with Thea Hail) defeated The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler with Joe Gacy & Ava Raine) and Edris Enofe & Malik Blade in a triple threat match as part of the New Day Tag Team Invitational

Hudson pinned Reid to win the match, which qualifies Chase and Hudson for the four-way match for the NXT Tag Team Championship on Saturday.

Heat on Chase that builds to a hot tag where Hudson runs wild on The Dyad. Hudson gets a near fall, and then he stomps the mat signalling for a finisher of some sort. A blind tag by Blade thwarts Hudson’s plan, and Blade leaps into the ring.

After leaping in, Blade also leaps out of the ring. Enofe tags in before he  drops a Macho Man flying elbow off the top rope. Enofe and Blade execute a double-team fireman’s carry/neckbreaker combo for a near fall. Everybody else jumps in to break up the pinning attempt.

Blade and Enofe with stereo flip dives over the ropes to the floor. Enofe is crotched going for another high risk move. Fowler and Reid are trying to set up a double-team superplex on Enofe, when Chase makes a blind tag. That leads to a Tower of Doom spot, and Chase does the Garvin Stomp on Reid.

Ava Raine jumps on the apron to cause a distraction, but she is pulled down by Thea Hail. The attempt to distract backfires on The Schism. A distracted Reid misses a running dropkick in a corner, and Chase tags in Hudson. Chase and Hudson do a tandem team move where Chase gives Reid a flatliner. Hudson then covers Reid for a pinfall to win the match.

The teams of Gallus and Pretty Deadly come out after the match for a stare down with Chase U. NXT Tag Team Champions The Day appear on the Titantron, and they congratulate Chase U.

The show ends with a video package that is a hard sell hyping Vengeance Day on Saturday.

WWE NXT live results: Women’s Championship Summit

With Vengeance Day under two weeks away, the build to the special continues on NXT tonight.

A Women’s Championship Summit will take place ahead of Roxanne Perez vs. Gigi Dolin vs. Jacy Jayne at Vengeance Day. Perez, Dolin, and Jayne will sign the contract for their triple threat title match.

Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller will meet in a steel cage match for the NXT Championship at Vengeance Day. Tonight, WWE will follow up on a social media angle from earlier this week where Waller confronted Breakker at the Performance Center. A brawl broke out after Waller threw water bottles at Breakker.

The NXT Women’s Tag Team titles will be on the line tonight as Alba Fyre challenges Katana Chance & Kayden Carter in a handicap match. Plus, Tiffany Stratton returns to the ring against Indi Hartwell, Wendy Choo faces off with Elektra Lopez, and there will be a Chase U award ceremony to celebrate Thea Hail’s first win.

Our live coverage starts at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

The show starts with clips of videos posted online showing the social media angle. Edited together is video captured by Waller himself and others in the PC when the angle is shot.

Tiffany Stratton defeated Indi Hartwell

Stratton pinned Hartwell in a grudge match, which was set up last week during a skit where Hartwell, on behalf of the women’s locker room, objected to Stratton having her own personal dressing room. Thus, they have a match with Hartwell looking to teach Stratton some respect for the rest of the locker room. However, the heel wins on this night.

After a comeback, Hartwell is doing well when Stratton starts selling her leg. She sells big, and Hartwell backs away thinking Stratton is hurt. Cue Admiral Ackbar hollering, “It’s a trap!” Indeed it was a trick by Stratton. She hits Hartwell with a cheapshot, and Stratton does a double springboard Super Crazy moonsault. Stratton then covers Hartwell for a three count.

Is Toxic Attraction splitting up? Stay tuned.

Jacy Jayne has apparently turned on her Toxic Attraction tag team partner, according to an interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Jayne accidently hit Gigi Dolan in a tag match last week, but tonight Jayne calls that an awakening for herself. Jayne also claims she carried Dolan since the day they formed Toxic Attraction.

Mitchell asks Jayne what to expect tonight for the championship summit. Jayne replies, “Something you have never seen before.”

Drew Gulak’s students are training with Diamond Mine. Hank Walker is also there watching on while wearing jeans and a long sleeve button down shirt. Heck of an attire to train in.

The students are grappling with the Creed Brothers, and Gulak chews them out over a lackluster performance. Gulak demands to roll, so Julius steps up to grapple with him. Julius sweeps Gulak’s leg, and an angry Gulak explodes with rage. He accuses Creed of taking a cheapshot. This sets up a tag match for later tonight.

Chase U Awards Ceremony

An in-ring skit featured Thea Hail being recognized and rewarded for her first win on television from last week. The ring is decorated like a graduation ceremony, and Andre Chase is delivers a speech honoring Hail.

Chase curses, which is bleeped. Chants of “that’s not P-G” come from the live studio audience. They then chant for Hail as she is presented with an award. Hail gives an acceptance speech when she is interrupted by the entrance of JD McDonagh.

McDonagh cuts a promo burying the ceremony. Hail gets so angry with him she has to be held back by Duke Hudson. McDonagh tries to tease dissension between Hudson and Chase. This leads to a match, and Chase luckily came prepared with his gear on under his robe. He decks McDonagh, who then takes a bump out of the ring, and the fight is on after a commercial break. The match is joined in progress.

JD McDonagh defeated Andre Chase (with Thea Hail & Duke Hudson)

McDonagh pinned Chase after Hudson storms off seemingly in disgust with Chase.

McDonagh works over Chase, before a comeback by Chase. Double down when McDonagh lands a head butt. McDonagh goes for a finisher, but Chase counters into a Canadian Destroyer. McDonagh gets his foot on the rope to break the count for a near fall.

Chase is crotched after climbing to the top rope. Hudson had seen enough. He leaves in apparent disgust. Chase is then given McDonagh’s “Devil Inside” finisher, and McDonagh scores a pinfall.

Fallon Henley & Kiana James (with Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen) defeated Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley

Henley pinned Nile to win the match, thanks in part to James’ heel tactics. Henley worked as a babyface, but her odd couple tag partner still cheated to win.

James illegally interferes several times. She throws Nile to the match, and James also trips Nile. James then runs around the ring where she grabs Paxley’s legs, keeping her from making a save. Henley delivers a shining wizard on Nile, and Henley pins Nile.

NXT Tag Team Champions The New Day are in the locker room with Malik Blade and Edris Enofe. They ask New Day for a title shot at Vengeance Day. In walks The Schism to interrupt them. This leads to an announcement of The New Day Tag Team Invitational for next Tuesday on NXT, pitting Blade and Enofe against The Dyad to determine the next challengers.

Apollo Crews goes to same barbershop featured several times on the show. It is a usual spot for Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams, and they walk in just as Crews gets in the barber chair. Hayes is angry, and he yells at Crews. Hayes then sits down for a face-to-face promo exchange where they bicker back-and-forth. This leads to Crews challenging Hayes to a two-out-of-three falls match at Vengeance Day. This is a rubber match between the two, and it is now officially announced for the NXT supercard.

The Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed) defeated Drew Gulak & Hank Walker

Brutus pinned Walker in a rough and tumble tag match.

The match goes through a commercial break, and it was a slobberknocker at times during the bout. The Creeds did a wicked double team spot with a delayed butterfly suplex and a leapfrog.

Walker is shining when he is cut off by the Creeds. Nevertheless, Walker uses an armbar at one point after having learned it from Gulak.

The Creeds are looking to double team Walker after Charlie Dempsey walks down to ringside. Walker is distracted by Dempsey’s being there, and Walker falls victim to a Brutus Bomb. Brutus then pinned Walker.

The Creeds thanks Ivy Nile in a post-match promo. They thank her for staying with them and inspiring them. However, they are soon interrupted by Jinder Mahal and Indus Sher. Mahal challenges the Creeds to a match next week, and Nile speaks for the Creeds by accepting the match. Maybe next Tuesday we finally see a match that has been teased for weeks.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Gigi Dolan, who is holding a rose. Dolan calls Jacy Jayne a “bad person” before vowing to give a “piece of my mind” later tonight.

Elektra Lopez defeated Wendy Choo

Lopez pinned Choo after using brass knux. Choo was making a comeback when Lopez pulls out the knux.

Valentina Feroz was at ringside watching the match, at the suggestion of Lopez. Feroz watches on as Lopez pulls out brass knux. Choo goes for her version of the Muta elbow handspring, but Lopez nails Choo with the brass knux. Lopez then scores a tainted pinfall. Feroz did not like the cheating tactic.

Briggs & Jensen are backstage talking with Fallon Henley. She asks what is next for Briggs & Jensen now that her issue with James is settled. Jensen says he has it figured out, and he even pitched a match to Shawn Michaels.

Jensen got Henley and Kiana James booked in a title match against NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The match is set for Vengeance Day, but Henley is upset that Jensen did not ask her first before pitching the idea. Henley leaves saying she has to think about it. This skit somewhat spoils the women’s tag title match later on as they champs are being booked for a title defense before they retain tonight.

Stevie Turner debuts in the ring next week. She makes the announcement about her in-ring debut as part of what is supposed to be an interview with McKenzie Mitchell. Turner does the interview via skype, and Turner only takes questions from super chat followers. Turner heels on Mitchell.

Champion and challenger clash in a pull-apart brawl

Grayson Waller comes to the ring to call out NXT Champion Bron Breakker. Waller is wearing his replica version of the NXT title belt. Waller is cutting a promo on Breakker as Breakker makes his way through the backstage area. Breakker is headed to the ring, and he roughs up some security on the way in a fit of rage.

The men’s locker room empties as everyone tries to stop Breakker, but Breakker pushes past the crowd, and he slides into the ring. Breakker and Waller tie up, and they have a pull apart brawl. They are separated and held back, but they keep trying to fight each other.

Breakker crashes through a gimmicked barricade when he goes to spear Waller, who moves out of the way. Breakker sells like he is out cold. Meanwhile, Waller smirks.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Kayden Carter & Katana Chance defeat Alba Fyre & Sol Ruca to retain their titles

Billed originally as a two-on-one match, Fyre was supposed to be alone, without a partner, against the champions. Just as the bell sounds to start the match, Sol Ruca comes to ring to be Fyre’s tag partner. Fyre and Ruca were looking strong as a team as the show cuts to a commercial break.

The champs fight back after the show returns from the break. In a bit of irony, Ruca is left alone after Fyre is sent crashing into the ring steps. Fyre was alone at the start, but not Ruca is by herself with Fyre down selling. Carter and Chance execute their tandem finisher on Ruca, and Chance pins Ruca to win the match.

Isla Dawn appears after the match as Fyre walks past her. Fallon Henley and Kiana James suddenly also appear, and they are on perch looking over the ring. Henley says she thought about it, and she decided to team again with James. The women’s tag title match is set for Vengeance Day.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee confronts Dijak in a pre-tape skit. This was done to hype their title match at Vengeance Day.

Cora Jade is being interviewed by McKenzie Mitchell when Mitchell gets word there is something happening in the parking lot. Cut to outside the building, and Nikkita Lyons is the victim of a Tonya Harding angle. An unknown assailant attacked Lyons, injuring her leg.

In a comedy skit, Duke Hudson reveals that he got him and Andre Chase booked for the New Day Tag Team Invitational, which is now a triple threat tag match.

Toxic swerve ends the championship summit

Booker T hosts the talking segment with Toxic Attraction seated at a table across from each other. They look mad. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez joins them at the table.

Dolan and Jayne bicker amongst themselves, and they insult each other. Perez chimes in to say “karma is a toxic bitch.” Perez goes on to vow she retains at Vengeance Day. Dolan and Jayne scream at each other some more.

Things seem to get heated, so Dolan and Jayne get in each other’s face. They look ready to fight, but they pause. Dolan and Jayne smirk as they glance over at Perez. Toxic Attraction then jump Perez. They beat her down, and they put Perez through a table.

It was all a swerve. There is no dissension in Toxic Attraction. At least not right now. Dolan and Jayne both hold up the women’s title belt as the show goes off the air.
