LA Knight, The Miz segment set for WWE SmackDown

A new segment has been announced for WWE SmackDown.

LA Knight and The Miz are now advertised “to meet face-to-face” on Friday’s show, one night before their singles match at WWE Payback.

From WWE.com:

Whether it be general mockery, doing of impressions of each other, or interfering in matches, both competitors are guilty of fueling the fire of their explosive conflict. Miz claims that his adversary is simply a flash in the pan that people will quickly forget, while Knight says The A-Lister, despite his years in the squared circle and his accolades, is nothing more than a “never was.” What will happen when the two Superstars come face-to-face one day before their showdown?

Knight vs. Miz on Saturday will be the first time the two have met in singles action.

WWE SmackDown on Friday, September 1, 2023, takes place from the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. According to WrestleTix, 8607 tickets have been distributed to the show. John Cena is set to return on the show, as is Jimmy Uso. The only match confirmed for Friday has the LWO’s Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar teaming up to wrestle Austin Theory & Grayson Waller. Mysterio will defend his United States Championship against Theory at Payback on Saturday.

WWE SmackDown September 1, 2023, lineup:

  • John Cena returns to SmackDown
  • Jimmy Uso returns to SmackDown
  • Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar vs. Austin Theory & Grayson Waller
  • LA Knight and The Miz face-to-face segment

Logan Paul to appear on next week’s WWE Raw

Logan Paul returns next week on WWE Raw.

It was confirmed Monday that Paul will make his return on next Monday’s show in Tampa, Florida. In recent weeks, he has been feuding with Ricochet stemming from their spot at Money in the Bank where Ricochet hit a spanish fly on Paul through tables. On last week’s Raw Ricochet challenged Paul to a match, which Paul ultimately rejected. The two ended up getting into a brawl.

Gunther and Drew McIntyre will also meet next week in a face-to-face. After Gunther defeated Matt Riddle on Monday, Gunther climbed on top of the announcer’s table and called out McItnyre, saying he would be the next to fall.

A match between Zoey Stark and Becky Lynch has also been set, with a stipulation that if Lynch wins, she gets a rematch against Stratus. TStratus and Lynch confronted one another on Miz TV Monday, where Lynch challenged Stratus to a match. Stratus agreed, but said Lynch would have to defeat Stark first and if she lost, she would have to say “thank you Trish” and get it tattooed on her chest. Lynch agreed to the stipulations.

Here is the updated lineup for next week’s Raw:

  • Logan Paul returns
  • Gunther, Drew McIntyre face-to-face
  • Becky Lynch vs. Zoey Stark- Lynch gets a rematch against Trish Stratus if she wins

Tommaso Ciampa returns on WWE Raw, attacks The Miz

Tommaso Ciampa is back.

Ciampa returned on Monday’s Raw after The Miz issued an open challenge to anyone in Cleveland. Ciampa answered the challenge. At first, it seemed like Ciampa came to greet The Miz. But Ciampa then laid out The Miz and the two had a match, with Ciampa eventually winning with the fairytale ending.

Ciampa had been out of action since last fall, undergoing surgery for a torn hip labrum. His final match took place back in October, when he lost to Bobby Lashley at a house show in a match that had been for the United States Championship.

Having been called up last April after a long run in NXT, Ciampa, who at first went under his first name only on the main roster, quickly associated himself with The Miz. In August of last year, he won a three-way match to become the number one contender for the United States title. Later that night, he challenged Lashley for the title, dedicating the match to his trainer Harley Race. However, he came up short. Shortly before being taken off the road, Ciampa’s name had been reverted back to Tommaso Ciampa.

Miz TV with Cody Rhodes set for WWE Raw

A segment involving Cody Rhodes has been added to the lineup for Monday’s episode of Raw.

In a video promoting the episode, WWE announced that Rhodes will be The Miz’s guest on Miz TV this Monday. Rhodes will address his feud with Brock Lesnar.

Rhodes and Lesnar currently have a 1-1 record against each other. At Night of Champions, Lesnar defeated Rhodes when Rhodes passed out in a kimura. In storyline, Rhodes entered Night of Champions with a broken arm due to an attack by Lesnar. Rhodes chose to still compete despite being hurt.

Rhodes cut a promo on last Monday’s Raw where he issued an open challenge to Lesnar for another match. Rhodes accused Lesnar of being afraid of him.

The Miz lost a Money in the Bank qualifying match to Ricochet last Monday.

At Friday night’s SmackDown, Rhodes defeated Miz in a dark match.

Monday’s Raw is being held at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Here’s the updated card for the episode:

  • World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins defends against Damian Priest
  • Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match: Becky Lynch vs. Sonya Deville
  • Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match: Zoey Stark vs. Natalya
  • Miz TV with Cody Rhodes

WWE’s The Miz narrates Cleveland Browns NFL schedule release video

WWE’s The Miz appears as a wrestling color commentator in the Cleveland Browns NFL schedule release video that dropped Thursday.

The wrestling-themed video featured an animated version of Browns mascot Brownie the Elf battling cartoon representatives of the Browns opponents for the 2023-2024 NFL season. Browns broadcaster Nathan Zegura voiced the lead wrestling commentator in the video, while The Miz provided color commentary.

An Ohio native, The Miz also represented the Browns at the 2022 NFL Draft.

Miz was just one WWE star who joined in on Thursday’s NFL schedule release frenzy, as Seth Rollins starred in the schedule release video for the Chicago Bears.

Miz has been a frequent opponent for Rollins on recent WWE house shows, as the two wrestled each other on four consecutive nights on WWE’s European tour late last month. Miz was also part of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament on this week’s Raw, losing a first-round triple threat match.

The Browns schedule release video can be seen below.

NFL star Travis Kelce says he’s talked with The Miz about potential WWE role

Two-time Super Bowl Champion Travis Kelce says he wants to get involved with WWE “somehow, someway.”

TMZ caught up with Kelce recently and asked if anyone from WWE or AEW has reached out to him regarding a potential role in wrestling. The 33-year-old responded that he’s actually had conversations with The Miz about the possibility.

Kelce said:

My guy George Kittle was at WrestleMania throwing clotheslines left and right. It was awesome to see him go nuts but I got to get involved somehow, someway. Me and the Miz have been talking a little bit about it so hopefully, we can brew something into fruition here.

Kelce drew inspiration from The Rock during his post-game comments after the AFC Championship game earlier this year. He told the Mayor of Cincinnati to “Know your role and shut your mouth, you jabroni!” The Rock was impressed.

Kelce, while wearing a title belt, also used several WWE catch phrases during the Chiefs Super Bowl parade in 2020.

Updates on CM Punk’s backstage visit to WWE Raw, flight to Chicago

More details about CM Punk’s surprise backstage visit to WWE Raw Monday have emerged.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported several key details Tuesday, including that Punk was in Florida doing MMA commentary work and was on a flight back to Chicago that also included WWE talents and a producer. While sitting with said talents, he learned Raw was happening in Chicago and showed up in the afternoon, brought in by other talents.

Punk talked to several people backstage in a common area, including The Miz and Paul Levesque. According to PWInsider’s report from someone who saw their interaction, Punk and Levesque shook hands and asked if he and Levesque could talk for a few minutes. Levesque allegedly said he had to make sure that was ok with Vince McMahon first.

It was previously reported it was McMahon’s call for Punk to leave. It’s unclear what the specific reason was for that decision given that other AEW contracted talents (Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo) were allowed to be at this year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony. Johnson said one WWE source noted the past legal situations between Punk and the company could have been the reason.

As was reported Monday, Punk and Miz apparently cleared the air about any lingering issues from Punk’s run on WWE Backstage.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez said Punk was there for about 20-25 minutes before he was asked to leave which he did with no issue.

Both Alvarez and Dave Meltzer said people were surprised in both WWE and AEW that Punk showed up there. Meltzer didn’t want to give his theories as to why, but said the feeling in WWE was that Punk wanted back in the company.

However, Johnson pointed out in his report that Punk is under AEW contract for a lengthy amount of time and that it appears he simply wanted to clear up any bad blood with WWE personnel given that WWE happened to be in his hometown.

“From all we have spoken to, it just happened to be the timing that led to Punk going there on a whim,” Johnson wrote.

Seth Rollins vs. The Miz announced for WWE Raw

Seth Rollins is set for action on tonight’s episode of Raw.

WWE has announced that Rollins will face The Miz in a singles match on Raw tonight. The episode is taking place at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

This will be Rollins’ first match since defeating Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39.

A match between The Miz and Matt Riddle was originally scheduled for last Monday’s Raw, but it ended up being pulled from the show. In a segment where he interrupted Miz, Riddle made his return to WWE television on the Raw after WrestleMania. Riddle has since been aligned with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a feud against The Bloodline.

Rollins and Miz also faced each other on an episode of Raw this February. Rollins got the victory in that match, winning by referee stoppage when he kept hitting stomps on Miz.

The updated lineup for tonight’s Raw is listed below:

  • Brock Lesnar responds to Cody Rhodes’ Backlash challenge
  • Trish Stratus will explain why she turned heel and attacked Becky Lynch last week
  • Non-title match: United States Champion Austin Theory vs. Bobby Lashley
  • Seth Rollins vs. The Miz

Matt Riddle vs. Miz match pulled from WWE Raw prior to travel delays

The originally scheduled return match for Matt Riddle on Monday’s WWE Raw was pulled from the lineup well before the show even happened.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said he wasn’t sure why the match was canceled other than it was pulled before he had even heard about the flight problems that saw a large percentage of the roster flying out of Orlando, Florida, to Seattle not make it in time due to delays.

It was reported late-afternoon Monday that Raw had to be rewritten due to the issues.

The Miz wasn’t in attendance at Raw and even if he had been, Meltzer speculated the match would have likely been pulled due to the delays as Riddle was one of the wrestlers affected.

Meltzer also said Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, Sami Zayn, and the Street Profits were part of the delayed travel group.

Riddle and Zayn did appear in the show-closing segment, running from outside the arena inside the building to help Kevin Owens from a beatdown from The Bloodline.

The Miz match was to be Riddle’s first televised match since early-December 2022.

Shane McMahon returns, gets injured at WWE WrestleMania 39

This story has been updated.

For the second straight night, The Miz got his comeuppance in a strange WWE WrestleMania 39 segment that saw the brief return of Shane McMahon before he tore his quad less than a minute after their impromptu match began.

The surprise savior? Snoop Dogg.

The rapper and The Miz repeated their night one act where they revealed the evening’s attendance and Miz took umbrage with how Snoop Dogg sanctioned the surprise match he had with the returning Pat McAfee the night before.

Snoop Dogg then threatened to do it again and out came the 53-year-old McMahon to his traditional music and in his traditional garb.

After McMahon got emotional and told the fans how much their cheers meant to him, the match began and ended just as quickly.

After taking a few punches, Miz went off the ropes and McMahon did a leapfrog, coming down awkwardly on his leg. He tried to stand up, but immediately collapsed, grabbing his left knee. As the referee checked on him, he said something to Miz who then jumped around the ring to stall.

The camera focused on Miz as he bounced around the ring while McMahon was pulled out, not to be mentioned again.

Snoop Dogg then re-entered and said it wasn’t going down like that, punching Miz not once, but twice. He then hit a People’s Elbow, complete with tossing his sunglasses out to the crowd, to get the pin and end an incredibly memorable moment in WrestleMania history.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque said at the post-event press conference that McMahon tore his quad.

This was McMahon’s first on-screen appearance since the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble that he participated in. Afterward, news broke of some discontent regarding how he had helped book the widely-panned Rumble match and how he positioned himself in doing so, resulting in him being pulled from appearances for Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38 and eventually pulled from the company altogether.

Pat McAfee returns at WWE WrestleMania 39, defeats The Miz

Despite what WWE CEO Nick Khan said about no plans for him this weekend, Pat McAfee appeared at WWE WrestleMania 39 and picked up a win over The Miz.

As the saying goes, plans change.

Miz and Snoop Dogg were out in the ring to announce the night’s attendance when Miz said he was disappointed no one accepted his open challenge. As he was about to deliver his catchphrase, McAfee’s music hit and out he came.

McAfee accepted the challenge and Miz attempted to get out of it, saying no one could make the match. Snoop Dogg said as the co-host of the evening, he had the authority to do so and did just that.

McAfee was aided by San Francisco 49ers’ tight end George Kittle who Miz shoved as he was attempting to walk out of the match. Kittle jumped over the barricade and clotheslined Miz as the referee was distracted, leading to McAfee hitting a swanton off the ringpost to the outside.

Shortly after, McAfee hit a punt kick on Miz to get the pin and win.

The now-former SmackDown announcer wrestled at last year’s WrestleMania, defeating Austin Theory before losing a bizarre match against Vince McMahon right afterward. He picked up a win over Happy Corbin at last year’s SummerSlam.

Due to time commitments with ESPN, his daily show and other entities, McAfee had to step away from his SmackDown announcing duties and was replaced by Wade Barrett last fall.

The Miz to host WWE WrestleMania 39

WrestleMania 39 will have a host.

WWE announced on Monday’s Raw that The Miz will serve as the host of the two-night WrestleMania 39 event. The shows are set for Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Miz is a two-time former WWE Champion, eight-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time United States Champion, has held eight different Tag Team titles in the WWE, and is also a former Money in the Bank winner.

Miz hosting was revealed during a Miz TV segment on Raw. Seth Rollins interrupted the segment and used it to call Logan Paul from Miz’s phone, challenging Paul to show up at Raw next Monday in Boston. Paul vs. Rollins has been teased as a WrestleMania 39 bout, but has yet to be made official.

Both nights of WrestleMania will air live on Peacock in the United States, and on WWE Network in the rest of the world.

Seth Rollins to face The Miz on WWE Raw

WWE has announced a new addition to the lineup for tonight’s Elimination Chamber fallout edition of Raw.

Seth Rollins will be in action against The Miz on Raw tonight. The match comes two days after Logan Paul cost Rollins a chance to become United States Champion at Elimination Chamber.

Austin Theory retained the US title against Rollins, Montez Ford, Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano, and Bronson Reed in an Elimination Chamber match this past Saturday. Rollins was on the verge of winning the match, but Paul interfered and attacked him. Theory then hit A-Town Down on Rollins to retain.

A match between Rollins and Paul is expected to take place at WrestleMania.

The Miz wasn’t in action at Elimination Chamber. Instead, he took part in the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities. It appeared that Miz hit a dramatic half-court shot to tie last Friday’s All-Star Weekend celebrity game, but it didn’t count due to time expiring.

Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa is hosting Raw tonight. Here’s what’s been announced for the episode:

  • United States Champion Austin Theory defends against Edge
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Mustafa Ali
  • Seth Rollins vs. The Miz

Bronson Reed returns to WWE on Raw, aligns with The Miz

Bronson Reed has returned to WWE, aligning with The Miz.

16 months after being released from the company, Reed returned to WWE on Monday’s Raw to aid The Miz in defeating Dexter Lumis in a winner takes all ladder match.

A former NXT North American Champion, Reed was released by WWE in August 2021, going on to have a prominent stint outside the company as JONAH.

Reed perhaps made his biggest mark away from WWE in New Japan Pro Wrestling, including defeating Kazuchika Okada in the 2022 G1 Climax tournament. He went on to drop a singles rematch to Okada in October 2022 at Declaration of Power in a featured bout.

As JONAH, Reed was also featured in PWG, competing in the 2022 Battle of Los Angeles tournament and at July’s Nineteen event. A 2021-2022 run in Impact Wrestling culminated in losing a Monster’s Ball match to PCO in a match that aired in May.

Reed’s first WWE run began in 2019 when he was announced as part of the January Performance Center recruiting class. His NXT television debut would come later that year in July. His North American title reign lasted 42 days from May to July 2021.

The Miz vs. Dexter Lumis winner-takes-all ladder match set for WWE Raw

A ladder match with two bags of money will be up for grabs next week on Raw.

The match between Dexter Lumis and The Miz was set up during a segment on Monday’s Raw. Lumis and Johnny Gargano were giving WWE merchandise they bought with Miz’s money to people at ringside when The Miz came out and shoved Lumis into Gargano, taking the bag of money away from them.

Miz and Gargano argued about the money, causing WWE official Adam Pearce to come out to resolve the issue. Miz said he wanted to earn the money back in a rematch. Gargano said Lumis would agree if they make it double or nothing, meaning Miz would put up another bag of money along with the one owned by Lumis. Miz at first said he couldn’t do that, as Maryse controls their money and he only gets an allowance. However, he eventually agreed to the stipulation, saying he would find a way to get the money.

Next week’s Raw will take place at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
