[email protected]

— Bryan and I will be back tonight covering SummerSlam night two, more from night one, G-1 and more. Our night one show is up right now as is my weekend show with Garrett Gonzales with lots of talk on all the current news, Hulk Hogan questions and more.

— ESPN’s new streaming service that will carry all of ESPN programming launches this fall, with no date announced for the launch. It will contain all of the ESPN Networks and cost $29.99 per month.

— On paper tonight’s show is much stronger than last night’s with the women’s three-way and TLC match. We have a preview of this in the issue discussing finishes and such:

  • Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles for the IC title
  • Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) vs. DIY vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Street Profita vs. Fraxion vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix in a TLC match for the WWE tag titles
  • Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyira for the IC title no DQ no count out – If Valkyria loses she can never challenge for the title as long as Lynch is champion
  • Solo Sikoa vs. Jacob Fatu in a cage match for the U.S. title
  • Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky for the world women’s title
  • John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for the world title in a street fight

Most fans based on polls think the Cena face turn was fake. Don’t know but it came across very weak.Supposedly the finish of the show will have another big surprise.

— We’re looking for your thoughts on both nights of SummerSlam, thumbs up down or middle, best and worst match for each show to [email protected]

— We’re also looking for dark match results from Friday’s Smackdown tapings in Newark, NJ to [email protected]

— Mistico beat Mascara Dorada and Bandido on Friday night in Tijuana before a sellout crowd to win the Lucka (correct spelling of the promotion) Libre heavyweight championship when Bandido tapped out to the Mistica.

— SummerSlam did 600,000 Google searches as of this morning which is very high for a WWE event. The UFC show yesterday on ESPN did only 60,000.

— Zero-1 today did a match at Shin-kiba with mask vs. leaving Zero1 with Hayabusa vs. Masato Tanaka. It ended up in a 30:00 draw.

— Colby Corino went to the hospital Thursday and needed emergency surgery on his neck and back. Best wishes to him.

— The Zennichi Jr. tournament ended today with Atsuki Aoyagi over Rising Hayato in a match I was told was great. All Japan drew more today at Ota Ward Gym than Stardom did for its first night of the Five Star Grand Prix and more than the first night of G-1 in that building.

— Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport from yesterday in Rutherford, NJ:

  • Matt Mako b Ray Jaz
  • Janai Kai b Jordan Bade via decision
  • Simon Gotch b Nick Comoroto
  • Charlie Dempsey b Dominic Garrini
  • Royce Isaacs b Ivar
  • Timothy Thatcher b Slade-DQ
  • Erik’b Manders
  • Pete Dunne b Jonathan Gresham
  • Nattie Neidhart b Masha Slamovich – this  was very intense.  Real good stuff.

— Boca Raton Wrestling on 8/31 in Mizner Park in Boca Raton, FL saw Ricky Morton vs. Seve Maclin for the BRCA title, Ash by Elegance vs. Mila Moore for the women’s title, Jonny Fairplay vs. Alan Martinez, Monster Fulton vs. Noah Kekoa falls count anywhere plus Enzo, James Ellsworth, Moose, Matt Taven and Bull James.

— Bully Ray defends the Crown Jewel title against Zilla Fatu on 9/4 in Philadelphia at Trinity on 22nd.  Shotzi Blackheart, Lio Rush and Action Andretti are on the show.

— BOOM! Pro Wrestling in Vancouver, BC did their 40th straight sellout on 7/26, running that show at the larger 800 seat Commodore Ballroom with Casey Ferreira over Brady Malibu for the Vancouver City title.  Next show is 9/27.

— WWE has filed to trademark “The Vision,” which may be a new faction.

— Masa Kitamiya joined Team 2000X on today’s NOAH show as The Chairman.

AEW Collision live results: The final stop before All In

The final stop before this Saturday’s AEW All In has arrived with tonight’s live AEW Collision from Garland, Texas.

Before he enters the men’s Casino Gauntlet Saturday, CMLL legend Mistico will take on The Beast Mortos.

In an eight-woman tag ahead of the women’s Casino Gauntlet, former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa teams with Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa and Queen Aminata against ROH Women’s Champion Athena, Thekla, Megan Bayne and Julia Hart.

Rosa challenges Athena on Friday’s ROH Supercard of Honor.

In an eight-man tag to preview the AEW World Tag Team title match, FTR teams with The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage & Nick Wayne against The Outrunners and JetSpeed. JetSpeed and The Patriarchy will challenge The Hurt Syndicate for the titles Saturday.

**********

The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Rocky Romero, Trent Beretta) w/ Lance Archer & Don Callis vs. Paragon (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, & Kyle O’Reilly)

Fletcher started the match running across the ring to knock Cole to the floor and start fighting with O’Reilly. O’Reilly hit a kitchen sink and tagged out to Cole, but Fletcher fled to the corner and tagged in Beretta. The fans chanted “We want Kyle!” loudly for both Kyle’s, which remains great. Strong and O’Reilly double teamed Beretta to the delight of the fans, before Cole tagged in and hit a dropkick to a seated Beretta.

Beretta was able to get away from Strong with help from Fletcher, and Fletcher took over, getting the heat on Strong for a bit. The heat continued as the Callis family isolated O’Reilly. Beretta got dumped to the floor by O’Reilly, and Strong tagged in and sent Beretta back to the floor and hit Fletcher with a lariat that sent him flying. Strong hit a crucifix into a diamond cutter and an Olympic slam on Beretta before hitting a series of running elbows and a boot for a 2-count.

Fletcher hit an enziguri as Strong hit the ropes and tagged out letting RPG Vice hit a flying knee into a Death Valley Driver for a 2-count. Cole tagged in after Fletcher missed a helluva kick in the corner, hitting a brainbuster into neckbreaker on Beretta. Cole challenged Fletcher to get into the ring so they could fight and they started exchanging strikes, with Fletcher hitting a half nelson suplex but Cole superkicked him at a corner charge and hit the Panama Sunrise for a 2-count. Fletcher hit Cole with a lariat and tagged back out to Beretta. O’Reilly saved Cole from a Jackal Driver, and Cole hit the boom for a 3-count.

Match Result: Paragon via pinfall

–Fletcher tried to attack Cole as he left, but Cole turned around holding the TNT title and stopped the attack. Cole asked him to fight, as Callis screamed “Don’t take the bait!” and Fletcher listened, content to wait until Saturday at All In.

–Jon Moxley was backstage after Dynamite with the Death Riders, saying that pro wrestling is the greatest sport in the world, and very few people have the will to do what it takes to be one. Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Gabe Kidd made it clear they were after the trios title, and Moxley ended with saying that if you wanted to make it as a wrestler, you needed to be All In, otherwise you were all out, implying that Hangman really doesn’t know what is coming for him.

–Technique from Taz returned for the first time in a long time, as he broke down how Mistico does an armbar, including the phrase on screen “Core Strength Jones” which was great. This was really good overall.

–The recapped the return of Scorpio Sky and his now public alliance with Top Flight and Christopher Daniels. He called his new alliance Sky Flight, and Daniels cut a promo about how all the titles are on the table for what they want, as the sky is no limit. I liked this a lot.

Mistico vs. The Beast Mortos

Mistico and Mortos had a great lucha match, and wasted no time in working fast in this one. Mistico hit a tope suicida, but Mortos no sold it, and Mistico tried again, this time dropping Mortos. Mistico took Mortos’ hand and ran up the ropes twisting into an armdrag. Mortos hit a series of hard strikes afterwards, and a powerslam that put a sudden stop to Mistico’s attempts to control the offence. Mortos continued the heat through the break, working over the knee of Mistico.

Mortos caught Mistico in a torture rack position, but Mistico shifted his weight and spun around Mortos into a headscissors takedown before hitting a springboard elbow for a 2-count. Mistico went for La Mistica, but Mortos slammed him face down before he could complete the spin. Mortos went for a powerbomb, but Mistico floated over into a sunset flip bomb, which was really cool.

Mortos picked up Mistico in a tombstone position and jumped backwards into a lung blower. Mortos and Mistico slightly botched a counter from a tilt-a-whirl, but recovered and hit a beautiful one. Mistico hit a superkick and a flipping DDT on Mortos. Mistico hit the ropes soon thereafter and hit La Mistica to a great reaction from the fans.

Match Result: Mistico via submission

–MJF appeared on the screen with the mask he stole from Mistico, saying that Mistico stood no chance of stopping MJF from beating Mark Briscoe, saying he was going to win within 3 seconds. MJF said that he would keep collecting Mistico’s masks until he took them all if Mistico managed to get into the Casino Gauntlet.

–Mark Briscoe was backstage, saying that he was coming to win the Casino Gauntlet. It wasn’t just about business though, but personal, because MJF did use Jay Briscoe’s name and disrespected his family, and it was no longer just about winning, but he is going to look his family in the eyes after the match, saying he wasn’t going to let MJF get away with what he said and did. Mark Briscoe continues to be one of the best characters on AEW TV here, with an incredible promo.

–Renee Paquette met Hangman Adam Page after Dynamite last night, talking about how he needs to talk about what happened, but not with Renee, and he walked into Swerve Strickland’s locker room. Ospreay immediately stood up to get between them, but Hangman asked for 2 minutes of Swerve’s time, and Ospreay left the room as Hangman thanked him for all he has done. Prince Nana said he was going to grab coffee and let them talk.

Swerve said that he knew what this was about, thinking Hangman wanted to ask for his help. Hangman said he was going into a suicide mission on Sunday, and he might not have the chance to talk after All In, so he sat down with Swerve. Hangman said that he had nothing to do with what the Bucks did at Dynasty, which Swerve believed. Hangman went on to say that what Swerve did to him has led to his son still having nightmares to this day, and that he hates him for that, but he regrets how far it all went.

Hangman said he needed to know if Swerve regretted what happened, and Swerve said that since he was champion, he realized that it was not worth what he did. Hangman said his family was going to be at All In before the show, but not during, and Swerve promised to avoid them, saying he hoped they enjoyed hanging out. Swerve said that he was planning to raise his kids in the house that Hangman burnt down, but maybe it was time to let go of the past after all. The segment ended with Swerve picking up the chain Hangman left on the floor, wrapping it around his fist, thinking about this apparent truce with Hangman Adam Page. This was an awesome segment.

–Jon Moxley came out as Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone were discussing what just happened, and Moxley took a mic saying it made him sick seeing that crybaby stuff. Marina Shafir insulted Hangman, and Moxley said that there would be no apologies after what he does at All In, and Hangman had 2 days before Moxley ended him. This was awesome too.

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) & The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne) w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum) & Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey)

Bailey started the match beating up Nick Wayne, tagging out to Knight to continue the assault. Wayne fled from the ring after a 2-count. Christian attacked Knight, but ate a dropkick after two leap frogs from Knight. Nigel McGuinness claimed that Christian should adopt Kevin Knight as well, as it would help him become a better competitor, which made me laugh.

Dax Harwood tagged in and beat on Truth Magnum, but Magnum fired back out of the corner, hitting a headscissors before hitting a double team knee lift into a back suplex from Floyd for a 2-count. Kevin Knight tagged in, and Harwood drove him backwards into he corner, but it broke down into all 4 men being in the ring and brawling around ringside.

Harwood low bridged Knight as he hit the ropes going for a dive, and they went to the break as the referee tried to get control again. They came back from the break with Harwood locking Knight in a chinlock, but Knight escaped with a jaw breaker. Knight went for the tag, but Harwood cut him off, so Knight dodged a corner charge, but Wayne stopped the tag. Knight kicked Wayne in the face, flipped over him, and tagged out to Truth Magnum, and the Outrunners ran wild, hitting a double clothesline on Christian and Nick Wayne before hitting the SOB elbow.

Harwood and Christian pulled Magnum into the ring post, allowing Wayne to hit sliced bread for a 2-count. Christian tagged in and started choking Magnum on the ropes. Magnum hit a snap suplex on Wayne, but was shoved back into the corner by Harwood. Magnum fought out of the corner, but as he made the tag, the referee was distracted and missed tag, which let the heels continue to beat on Magnum, which got a massive amount of heat from the audience. Sometimes, the simple things just work, and this is one that always does in wrestling. Wheeler tried to stop Magnum a few minutes later, but Magnum leaped over Harwood as he dived, and tagged out to Bailey, who hit a series of kicks and a standing shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count.

The fans were very displeased with the referee for that 2-count. Wheeler stopped Bailey from getting on the ropes and hitting Ultima Weapon, but Bailey dropped him and Wayne before hitting a slingshot moonsault to the floor, and then a shooting star press on Harwood for a 2-count as Christian broke it up.

All 8 men started exchanging big moves until FTR hit the Shatter Machine on The Outrunners. They tried to hit Bailey, but Knight speared Wheeler, and Bailey hit a sunset flip on Harwood for a nearfall that was so close the fans were infuriated. Christian got hit with a combo from The Outrunners while Bailey hit a spinning kick on Harwood before Knight hit the UFO splash on Harwood for the win. This was a giant win for Jet Speed that they needed going into the PPV.

Match Result: Jet Speed & The Outrunners

This match was so awesome. A party match in the truest sense, with Jet Speed getting a much needed big win before the PPV.

–Big Boom AJ was with Lexy Nair and called out the Don Callis family, and Big Justice and the Rizzler announced that he would teaming with The Conglomeration to face RPG Vice, Lance Archer, & Hechicero, but they were short once guy. Kyle O’Reilly popped in and told people he was still down for conglomerating and is the 4th man in the match.

–Stokley Hathaway was backstage, saying that he made the mistake of trusting Christian Cage for the last time, and that at All In, they would face the Outrunners and end their feud once and for all.

Kaysuyori Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd (w/ Marina Shafir)

Shibata and Kidd immediately started brawling in the middle of the ring with hard forearms, spilled to the floor, and continued to fight, as Shibata hit a huge helluva kick on Kidd that almost sent him into the front row as the teacher beats on the student. Must have felt like it did in the dojo. Kidd managed to plant Shibata in the corner, hitting a dropkick and posing like Shibata.

Kidd chopped Shibata, and Shibata invitd more strikes, firing up, but he was dropped by a chop. Shibata kicked out at 1. Kidd did some squats to mock his teacher, so Shibata hit a hard chop that almost dropped Kidd. Both men hit chops before Kidd hit a headbutt that dropped Shibata. Kidd screamed “You did this. You made me do this!” as he beat on Shibata in the corner, and Shibata started no selling the hard chops before turning Kidd around, chopping him in the throat, and hitting the corner dropkick.

Kidd hit a chop to the back of Shibata that was so loud, that the crowd screamed. Kidd sat down, challenging Shibata, and Shibata hit Kidd with a slap to the top of the head, before hitting a pump kick and a hard lariat that caused Kidd to flip backwards. Kidd hit a closed fist punch, but Shibata hit hard chops that made the crowd scream again, before hitting a kick and locking on a sleeper. Wheeler Yuta ran down to distract the referee and Kidd hit a low blow before piledrving Shibata.

Match Result: Gabe Kidd

My goodness, this was a great match. It was not quite a G1 level match, but it was pretty darn close. They hit each other hard repeatedly for 10+ minutes. This was great.

–Kris Statlander came down to the ring as the Death Riders fled the ringside area, with Yuta eying her. Statlander joined the commentary booth for the next match. I liked how that tied together between the two segments, transitioning to the next match but keeping the story with Statlander and the Death Riders in mind.

Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata vs. Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford), Thekla, Julia Hart (w/ Skye Blue), & Athena (w/ Billie Starks)

Athena and Shirakawa started the match, with the home state hero, Athena getting a great reaction. Rosa tagged in after a bit to fight with Athena, anticipating their ROH Women’s World Championship match tomorrow night at ROH Supercard of Honor. Athena and Bayne ended up double teaming Rosa and Willow Nightingale, as Nigel McGuinness said that Athena’s title reign exceeded Bryan Danielson’s world title reign. I love McGuinness’ commitment to burying Danielson.

Bayne launched Athena through the ropes into a suicide dive on Nightingale. Bayne tagged in Thekla, who hit a snapmare and superkick on Rosa. The fans were chanting for Aminata and actually booed when Rosa tagged in Nightingale, which I did not expect, but the fans wanted to see Thekla and Aminata fight again. Athena tagged in and got the heat on Nightingale in the corner. Athena hit a running meteora on Nightingale.

Hart tagged in and did the tarantula on Nightingale and attempted to float through the ropes, but Nightingale caught her and hit a Death Valley Driver. Nightingale tagged out to Aminata, to a great reaction, so props to the agents for giving her the hot tag here, or the wrestlers knowing to wait it out to tag her in. Thekla ducked under a clothesline and hit a pump kick on the apron. Aminata hit a headbutt on Thekla before hitting a twist and shout that Thekla sold like death.

Bayne came in and faced off with Aminata, and Bayne hit a falcon arrow. Bayne hit the ropes, but Nightingale came out of nowhere and hit a pounce that sent Bayne to the floor. Athena flew off the top rope with the O-Face out of nowhere, and Mina Shirakawa flew off the top rope onto Bayne on the floor. Hart hit a moonsault on Nightingale, but Shirakawa made the save, and she signaled to Nightingale to hit stereo top rope moves, but they were cut off by Hart and Thekla.

Hart and Thekla both hit suplexes but stayed in the tree of woe on opposite side of the ring. Thekla did her crab walk thing, and Aminata pulled Thekla from the ring, but Bayne leveled Aminata. Shirakawa hit a tornado DDT on the floor on Bayne while Athena and Rosa both clotheslined each other and went down. Hart went for an octopus stretch, but Nightingale fought out and hit the Babe with the Powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa, & Queen Aminata

–The heels started beating down the babyfaces, but Tay Melo & Anna Jay ran down to make the save. Penelope Ford got involved, as did Statlander, and the women in the Casino Gauntlet all started fighting as the show went off the air.

Final Thoughts

This was another excellent episode of AEW Collision, with several matches being built up very well. The angle with Hangman and Swerve, and the following promo with Moxley were must see. The 8-man tag and Shibata vs. Gabe Kidd were fantastic matches that you should go out of your way to see.

Mistico vs. The Beast Mortos announced for next AEW Collision

Mistico will be in action this Thursday.

Tony Khan announced that Mistico will be taking on The Beast Mortos this Thursday on AEW Collision. The show in Garland, Texas is being held on a special night as it will be the last AEW show before All In next Saturday.

“Before he enters the #AEWAllInTexas Casino Gauntlet Match this Saturday Afternoon, legend @caristicomx will collide vs the dangerous Beast Mortos this THURSDAY!,” Khan wrote on social media.

It was announced on this week’s show that the CMLL legend will participate in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In. He’s also been embroiled in a feud with MJF, as the two faced off in a singles match at Grand Slam Mexico that Mistico won by disqualification after a MJF low blow and mask removal. After Mistico, Mark Briscoe, and Hologram scored a win on this week’s Collision, MJF and MVP appeared on the big screen taunting both Briscoe and Mistico ahead of the Casino Gauntlet.

AEW Collision lineup for Thursday, July 10:

  • Mistico vs. The Beast Mortos

Our coverage begins at 8 PM Eastern.

**********

Adam Cole opened the show, making his way down to the ring to hype up the crowd. Cole introduced the 100th episode of Collision and he thanked the fans for their support, saying he is proud to represent TNT as the TNT Champion, and that he is optimistic for the future of AEW. Cole promised to hold onto the championship for the future into 2026, and he was interrupted by Kyle Fletcher.

Fletcher claimed that the future of the company belonged to him, and said he was going to take the TNT title from Cole. Fletcher reminded Cole that he and MJF beat Aussie Open at All In 2023 when they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Fletcher said that he was not the same wrestler he was back then, and this time, when they faced off at All In, he wanted a match with Cole, and he was going to win the TNT Championship.

Daniel Garcia came out and pointed out that he is the future of AEW, not Fletcher, and that when he sees Adam Cole in the ring, he is distracted and tempted to look past Fletcher, because he wants the TNT Championship back.

Cole responded that he would give Garcia a chance anytime he wanted, and that Fletcher needed the help of the Don Callis family to survive the last time they were in the ring. Cole said that as he was a fighting champion and he would fight them both. Fletcher protested, pointing out that he beat Garcia in the Continental Classic last year when Garcia was TNT Champion and never got a shot, so he deserves the shot one-on-one. Garcia responded that he didn’t want the title shot as a reward, but that he wanted to earn it, while reminding people that he may lose, but he always gets back up, so he wanted to make his match with Fletcher tonight a chance at a title shot. Cole agreed.

–A hype video aired for Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone that was incredible. Storm talked about how not everything in life was worth fighting over, but sometimes you find that one thing that is worth losing blood over, and for Storm, it is the AEW Women’s World Championship. She said that the match at All In would not be pretty, and it would be a fight that might discourage girls from becoming wrestlers because it was so violent. She also said that there were two types of people in wrestling – the egotistical, greedy, selfish people that want it all, and the people that take them down. Excellent video.

Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP) vs. Nick Wayne (w/ Mother Wayne & Kip Sabian) vs. Kevin Knight (w/ Mike Bailey)

Benjamin spent the early part of the match throwing Wayne and Knight around the ring until Knight cradled Benjamin as he ran at him, but he kicked out. Wayne and Knight dropkicked Benjamin from the ring, and Wayne hit a flying uppercut on Knight before going after the ribs in the corner. Wayne walked backwards into Benjamin and realized he was in trouble, as Benjamin suplexed him and then tossed Wayne to the floor.

Benjamin slammed Wayne on the floor, as Mother Wayne looked on concerned. Wayne escaped Benjamin and locked Knight in a chinlock back in the ring. Knight hit the ropes, Wayne dropped down, and Benjamin came in and popped Knight up into the air for him to crash down to the mat. Benjamin hit a tilt-a-whirl slam on Wayne, and Knight flew off the ropes into a sunset flip on Benjamin, but Wayne broke it with a crucifix on Knight and Knight kicked out. Both Wayne and Knight then superkicked Benjamin, sending him back into the corner.

Knight sent Wayne across the ring into the arms of Benjamin who powerbombed Wayne into Knight, hit a German suplex on Wayne, and another on Knight. Benjamin then started several German suplexes on both men, throwing people around like they weighed nothing, hitting flying knees on both men. Knight low bridged Benjamin and Wayne flew over Knight with a tope con giro onto Benjamin which Knight followed with a springboard clothesline on both men.

Wayne bit a code red back in the ring on Knight for a 2-count. Knight hit a dropkick on Wayne for a 2-count. Benjamin ducked under a Knight attack, locking on an ankle lock. Nick Wayne hit a superkick on Benjamin, then Wayne’s World. As he went for the pin, Knight flew off the ropes with a UFO splash onto Wayne and Benjamin to pin Benjamin for the win.

Match Result: Kevin Knight

Excellent match from these guys, though the heat was not very high for it. Of course, it wouldn’t be given the beating Knight and Bailey took on Dynamite making people believe that they did not stand a chance here. Thankfully, they gave Knight the win, clean as a sheet, which adds at least a little doubt about the Hurt Syndicate winning at All In.

–The Death Riders were walking out of the building after Dynamite, refusing an interview until Claudio Castagnoli stopped and turned to the camera, saying he was getting sick of the Opps, and how he, Yuta, and a partner were coming for their AEW Trios Championships at All In. Solid promo. Who will their partner be, given PAC is out injured?

The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe & Hologram) & Mistico vs. Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) & Hechicero

Mistico got a superstar reaction coming out, which always makes me smile. Mistico and Romero started the match, with Mistico hitting a lucha arm drag on Romero before tagging out to Briscoe, who hit a series of chops and strikes with his redneck kung fu. Hologram handed Briscoe a chair and Briscoe went for a dive to the floor off the chair, but Beretta shoved the chair out of the way and then hit a drop toe hold onto the chair on Briscoe as the referee’s back was turned.

The heels got the heat on Briscoe for the next few minutes. When they came back from the break Hologram was hitting a headscissors takedown on Hechicero. RPG Vice tried to hit a double team move but only succeeded in swinging Hologram backwards around Beretta leading into a poisonrana of sorts. It took all three men of the Don Callis Family to stop Hologram, with Romero hitting a flying knee on Hologram who was draped on the ropes, and a running knee from Beretta. Hechicero flipped Hologram into the air into an armbar, but Briscoe broke it up.

Romero celebrated hitting a kick on Mistico, but ate a monkey flip from Hologram. Beretta floored Hologram, and it left Briscoe in the ring with Beretta, who was quickly dumped to the floor. Briscoe hit a flip dive off the apron on Romero before setting up two chairs with Hologram and hitting stereo tope con giro as Mistico hit La Mistica on Romero for the finish.

Match Result: Mark Briscoe, Hologram, & Mistico

–MJF and MVP appeared on the screen, and MVP said that while Briscoe wanted to chat one-on-one, MJF doesn’t chat without his crew with him, and that Mistico has no chance of coming up for the Casino Gauntlet Match as MJF was going to beat Briscoe before anyone else could make their entrance.

–Swerve Stricktland, Anna Jay, and AEW were present for a NASCAR race, and showed the stars hanging out with the pit crews and drivers, promoting the event, while they also promoted AEW. This was cool! AEW stars are frequently at sports events and almost never show it, so this was a win. Show this stuff more often, as it makes the wrestlers look like huge stars.

–Max Caster was in the ring for his open challenge, and they started to chant his chant. Caster claimed they were making funny of him, so they should chant “This crowd sucks!” The crowd then chanted “This crowd sucks!” which was hilarious. They put a 5 minute timer on the video awaiting the challenger. They showed Scorpio Sky training with Christopher Daniels as his coach, and Top Flight as his trainees, to a great reaction from his hometown crowd.

Max Caster vs. Scorpio Sky (w/ Christopher Daniels)

Caster jumped Sky to start the match, but it was less than 15 seconds before Sky turned it around, hit a TKO, and pinned Caster as the fans were chanting “Welcome back!” at him.

Match Result: Scorpio Sky

It is really great to see Scorpio Sky back. I had been wondering where he was, and he looked in incredible shape here.

–Ricochet was with Lexy Nair and he refused to expose what he was talking about with the Gates of Agony last week, saying that actions speak louder than words, and led the camera back to a laid out Blake Christian and Lee Johnson, who were destroyed by the Gates of Agony. It seems Ricochet has found his crew, and it wasn’t Christian and Johnson, but Ricochet did say they have to earn his respect.

Willow Nightingale vs. Viperess

Nigel McGuinness said that it is impossible to hate Nightingale, saying he tried his best, but failed. That was a great line. Kris Statlander was shown watching the match backstage while Wheeler Yuta walked up, and Statlander insisted that she did not need Yuta’s help as Nightingale hit a pounce on Viperess and a powerbomb for the pinfall.

Match Result: Willow Nightingale

–Renee Paquette walked up to Anthony Bowens backstage, saying that his match did not go as he wanted, and before he could talk, Billy Gunn walked up and said that he wasn’t out there because he believed that Bowens didn’t want him there. The division between them seemingly mended when Bowens said he wanted results now, and Gunn said that he just needed to trust in him, and they would get through this.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (w/ Stokley Hathaway) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

McGuinness claimed Turbo Floyd was one of the Garbage Pail Kids, with another gem of a line. The Outrunners and FTR broke down into a brawl early on, with The Outrunners sending FTR to the floor. Hathaway started shouting at Tony Schiavone in response to this, which caused Schiavone to exclaim, “You’re trouble!” I love Tony Schiavone. Truth Magnum hit an old school headscissors takedown on Cash Wheeler before Wheeler tagged out to Harwood.

As Harwood beat on Floyd, FTR pulled some old school tag team tactics with the abdominal stretch and holding each other’s hands, and switching partners behind the referee’s back. As the referee turned around, he saw Wheeler in the ring, who is noticeably not bald, so twin magic did not work here, and the referee demanded Wheeler leave the ring. That was hilarious. Floyd managed to tag out after reversing a suplex by Wheeler. Wheeler stopped the SOB Elbow and they took Floyd to the floor, smashing his leg between the ring steps and the post.

Harwood punched Truth Magnum right between the eyes, and he started bleeding just above the bridge of his nose. Wheeler hit a knee breaker on the ring steps on Floyd as Magnum was bleeding everywhere in the ring thanks to Harwood. Harwood hit a brainbuster and tagged out to Wheeler. Magnum dodged a dropkick in the corner from Wheeler, kicked Harwood as he went for back body drop, and almost made the tag, but Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron preventing the tag.

FTR hit a double team DDT on Magnum, and Wheeler put his foot on Magnum’s chest for a pinfall attempt, but Magnum kicked out and fought off a superplex attempt in the corner. Harwood blocked him from a tag, and both men hit clotheslines as Magnum fought out of the corner and were down. Wheeler pulled Floyd from the apron again, but Floyd hit a strike on Harwood, letting Magnum roll him up for a 2-count. FTR then hit a powerbomb into a neckbreaker for a 2-count, and Harwood missed a Harley Race style headbutt and Magnum finally got the tag.

Floyd came in and had trouble bodyslaming Harwood, but hit a lariat and a bodyslam after great effort. The SOB elbow saw them both able to stand and they hit it on Wheeler for a 2-count as the fans started to go nuts. Wheeler hit a dragon screw leg whip on Floyd, leading to Floyd being on the apron. Floyd hit a sunset flip on Wheeler, but Wheeler kicked out. The Outrunners hit the Shatter Machine and almost got the win, but Harwood barely made the save. Wheeler floated over the back of Floyd and Floyd turned into a Shatter Machine for the pinfall, as the camera showed Hathaway holding the foot of Magnum, preventing him from making the save.

Match Result: FTR

This was an incredible tag team match. Both teams work together well, and just know what to do to tell a compelling story throughout the match. All 4 guys worked very hard, and FTR gave The Outrunners everything before beating them, including an excuse for the loss. While I think it might have been a good call to have The Outrunners go over here, I don’t think this loss hurt them. That said, being the team that comes close and always loses is no way for them to stay over long term. They need to do something with these guys, and it felt like they were heating back up here in this match, so I hope AEW takes advantage of it.

TayJay (Anna Jay & Tay Melo), Queen Aminata, & Thunder Rosa vs. Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, Athena, & Thekla (w/ Penelope Ford)

Thekla started the match with Aminata, hitting a headscissors and a strike. Aminata hit a slap that rocked Thekla, who smiled and tagged out to Julia Hart. Hart did not last long before Rosa and Bayne ended up in the ring, with Rosa hitting a dropkick that didn’t even move Bayne. Bayne dumped Rosa into the corner, hit a chop, and missed a corner charge. Rosa hit a dropkick from the top rope that dropped Bayne.

Aminata hit a flying double stomp on Bayne, but Bayne stood up and Aminata tagged back out to Rosa to begin to double team Bayne, who hit a flying clothesline that dropped both wrestlers. Bayne hit a running helluva kick in the corner and tagged out to Thekla. Rosa and Thekla exchanged hard shots in the middle of the ring until Thekla locked her version of the tarantula in the corner on Rosa. Anna Jay saved Rosa from a submission, and Thekla squared off with Jay as Hart had Rosa in the opposite corner, with Hart and Thekla both suplexing their opponents, then Hart moonsaulting into the feet of Thunder Rosa.

Tay Melo tagged in and hit a black hole slam and three helluva kicks in the corner on Thekla. Anna Jay came in and hit a gory bomb into a knee from Tay Melo, but the heels broke up the pinfall. The match broke down into everyone hitting big moves, including Athena sending Jay into a headlock from Melo, elbowing Melo, and forcing Melo to accidentally DDT her own partner. Rosa and Athena then brawled all around ringside, setting up their match for Friday’s ROH PPV.

Anna Jay hit a DDT on Bayne, but Penelope Ford distracted the referee and Skye Blue sent Melo into the guardrail behind the referee’s back. Bayne missed a spear attempt on Jay, hitting the ring post, but Ford distracted her and Bayne hit a flying clothesline and huge powerbomb for the win. I like that running powerbomb as her finish more than the F5.

Match Result: Megan Bayne, Julia Hart, Thekla, & Athena

–Another Alex Windsor hype video aired, as she discussed her torn ACL, and how she refused to give up, wanting to show her son that she can win gold. This was very good.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Don Callis & Lance Archer) vs. Daniel Garcia (w/ Matt Menard)

Fletcher and Garcia started the match exchanging holds and a brief dance off. There was a very loud piped in “This is awesome!” chant that the crowd was clearly not chanting. I imagine they were chanting something very rude about Don Callis, as Callis was upset, and Garcia flipped off Callis. Garcia sent Fletcher to the floor, but he ate a pump kick from Fletcher. Callis stood up and hugged Fletcher, which proved to be a distraction that allowed Garcia to drop Fletcher.

Garcia and Cole bumped fists, but Fletcher sprung back up and sent Garcia into the guardrail like a lawn dart and he came up covered in blood. When the came back from the break, a bloody Garcia was fighting on the apron over a suplex, and Garcia hit a German suplex on the apron before hitting a shotgun dropkick as Fletcher was sitting on a chair against the guardrail. Garcia hit a superplex and rolled over into a pinfall attempt, but only got a 2-count. Fletcher hit a superkick on Garcia and a Last Ride powerbomb for a 2-count.

Fletcher went for a corner charge, but Garcia took the leg and locked on the dragon tamer, but Fletcher reached back as Garcia leaned back and put him in a headlock, forcing the break of the whole. Garcia stood up and tried to suplex Fletcher, and both men spilled over the top rope to the floor. Fletcher hit a half nelson suplex on the floor on Garcia, who seemed to be in a daze as Fletcher picked him up. Fletcher picked Garcia up and powerbombed him into the apron, and Cole got flashbacks to when Fletcher did that to him. Cole stood up and started encouraging Garcia to get up, but Flechter ran in with a helluva kick and hit a vertical drop brainbuster on Garcia for the win.

Match Result: Kyle Fletcher

This was an awesome match, start to finish. Fletcher and Garcia have excellent chemistry, and Fletcher continues to be one of the hottest rising stars in the company. I think Fletcher should probably win the TNT title from Adam Cole at All In, and then go from there. He should absolutely be factored into the main event scene when Ospreay finally wins the title, presumably next year, and I would have Fletcher beat him for the title after Ospreay’s run is over. We shall see if that is what will happen over the next few years, but it seems Fletcher is destined to be a big time main eventer for AEW.

Final Thoughts

While none of the very top stars were on this show, this was nonetheless an excellent edition of AEW Collision, with several matches being setup for All In. Even though it is a B-show, it was a B-show that advanced many of the midcard stories leading into the PPV, which is exactly what they should be doing with Collision every week (with the occasional A-level episode). This week’s show is definitely worth a watch for the FTR/Outrunners match and Fletcher/Garcia alone.

MJF attacks Mistico at MLW Summer of the Beasts

For the first time since 2020, MJF returned to MLW in a surprise appearance at Thursday’s Summer of the Beasts, attacking recent rival Mistico.

Mistico, a CMLL regular and former MLW Middleweight Champion, came out with a microphone and was prepared to address what was next for him. As he began to speak, several members of Contra Unit fully clad in black with masks came out to attack him.

After he took them all out, one last member ran out from behind and low blowed him, taking off his own mask to reveal a Mistico mask. He then removed that and it was MJF as the mask was the one he took off Mistico at this month’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico.

MJF then took the microphone after several punches to Mistico, saying he wasn’t through with him and not by a longshot. He said they will wrestle again and when he does, he will beat him within an inch of his life after he makes a mockery of Mexico, his countrymen and CMLL. He did his signature catchphrase and then left as the injured Mistico watched on.

Mistico defeated MJF by DQ in their first match in Arena Mexico with speculation their rematch will come at next month’s All In: Texas.

MJF was part of MLW from 2017 through 2020, holding their Middleweight title and Tag Team titles.

MJF offers to potentially take on Mistico at AEW Grand Slam Mexico

Image: AEW

Less than a year after making his CMLL debut, former AEW World Champion MJF is threatening to make a return to Arena Mexico against one of its biggest stars in Mistico.

During Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, MJF took aim at Mistico, saying he coudn’t be the best wrestler in the world as he is. He then said the CMLL star is a “big fish in a small stinky pond” and that if Mistico picks up a win at next Wednesday’s Summer Blockbuster and also impresses him, they will do battle at this month’s Grand Slam Mexico.

It would be their first-ever match.

As of this writing, Mistico’s opponent for next Wednesday in Portland, Oregon, has yet to be announced.

AEW will make their first trip to Arena Mexico on Wednesday, June 18th — the centerpiece of a big week for both AEW & ROH talent in CMLL with several events planned.

MJF’s CMLL Debut & Mistico in AEW

MJF debuted in both Arena Mexico and CMLL on August 2, 2024, at Viernes Espectacular when he successfully defended the AEW American/International title against Templario. He also defeated CMLL’s Hechicero at last June’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Mistico made his AEW debut in October 2023 and has appeared nine times for the company, mainly in tag team matches. He also has wrestled twice for the Tony Khan-owned Ring of Honor.

Mistico injury forces change to MLW Battle Riot VII card

An injury to Mistico has forced MLW to change up its plans for Saturday’s Battle Riot event.

Mistico was scheduled to defend his MLW Middleweight Championship against Templario at the Battle Riot show. That match is now off the card, but Templario will be in action in a three-way bout against fellow CMLL stars Hechicero and Esfinge.

Though he is unable to wrestle, Mistico is still making the trip to Long Beach, California for an appearance at Battle Riot.

“Despite being unable to compete due to injury, Mistico will still be in Long Beach for Battle RIOT VII and the MLW Fan Expo to meet and greet fans. He will also make a special appearance during Battle RIOT VII for an in-ring interview, ensuring that supporters can still see one of lucha libre’s biggest stars,” MLW wrote.

“And although Mistico cannot compete this Saturday, he will be watching from ringside with keen interest, preparing for his in-ring return and scouting the winner of this must-see clash.”

Mistico is dealing with a partial triceps tear, an ankle ligament injury, and lower back pain. As of the most recent update, it was believed that he would not need surgery and will be out of action for 2-3 weeks. He remains MLW Middleweight Champion, having held the title for more than a year now.

Battle Riot will air live on MLW’s YouTube channel for free on Saturday night. It has a start time of 10 p.m. Eastern.

Here is the updated card:

MLW Battle Riot VII (Saturday, April 5) —

  • MLW World Heavyweight Champion Matt Riddle defends his title in 40-person Battle Riot match
  • MLW Women’s Featherweight Champion Delmi Exo defends against Shoko Nakajima
  • Templario vs. Hechicero vs. Esfinge
  • Atlantis, Atlantis Jr. & Star Jr. vs. Ultimo Guerrero, Barbaro Cavernario & Magnus
  • HIMAWARI vs. Janai Kai
  • MLW Middleweight Champion Mistico will appear for an in-ring interview

CMLL announces Mistico out of action due to undisclosed injury

Mistico will be out of action for approximately two weeks after suffering an undisclosed injury sometime over the weekend, CMLL says.

CMLL announced in a press release Monday that the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Famer will miss approximately two weeks after suffering an injury at some point this past weekend. The press release according to Google Translate:

The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) informs fans that, due to an injury suffered by Místico, he will be required to rest for the next two weeks.

Dave Meltzer reports in today’s Daily Update that the injury is believed to have occurred Friday night in Arena Mexico during the Mistico & Mascara Dorada vs. Los Titanes del Aire (Hologram & Komander) matchup.

Cagematch lists Mistico as having wrestled on Saturday at an independent show in Mexico in a trios match, but has no other information listed regarding the card.

Mistico, 42, is in his second run as arguably the biggest draw and biggest star in Mexico, nearly two decades following his first. He was voted Best Box Office Draw and Wrestler of the Year in the Observer Awards in 2006 and placed in both categories again in 2010. The rest of the 2010s were something of a lost decade. After a disappointing run in WWE from 2011 to 2013, he returned to Mexico in 2014, first for AAA and various independents before eventually returning to CMLL.

CMLL business picked up significantly over the last couple of years with Mistico on top, earning him the Mexico MVP award in the Observer Awards in both 2023 and 2024. He also placed second in that category in 2022, the same year he was inducted into the Observer Hall of Fame.

Ring of Honor TV live results: Komander vs. Dark Panther TV title match, Mistico in action

Komander will look to extend his Ring of Honor men’s TV title on tonight’s ROH on HonorClub show as he defends against CMLL’s Dark Panther.

The winner will defend against either Kevin Knight or AR Fox who battle for a title shot on the show.

In another CMLL showcase, Mistico will team with Neon and Fuego against Volador Jr., Rugido and Hechicero.

Ahead of their challenge for the AEW Trios titles this weekend, Top Flight will take on QT Marshall & Aaron Solo.

Before they take on Komander & Hologram on Sunday’s Collision special, The Beast Mortos & Dralistico will be in tag team action.

After unsuccessfully challenging ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, CMLL’s La Catalina returns to face Viva Van.

The massive Satnam Singh will also be in action to round out the card.

********

Spring has sprung like a springboard DDT and planted us face-first in a brand new episode of ROH on Honorclub. This episode shall be affectionately referred to “Number 108.”

Fuego, Mistico & Neon defeated Hechicero, Rugido & Volador Jr.

Kicking things off, the ROH/CMLL Crisis of Infinite Luchadores continued this week with another six-man match contested under Luchadore rules. which basically means if a wrestler slides out under the bottom rope, it counts as a tag and another member of their team can jump in. This makes it much easier for the participants to escape holds, dodge attacks and grab snacks, if they so choose. While the other five luchadores have been seeing in AEW and ROH in recent weeks, Neon was making his ROH debut and the commentators built him up huge.

Neon and Hechicero started things off and Hechicero was all over Neon from jump. It was a surprisingly technical exchange, lots of holds and locks with Neon getting a couple of rolling near-falls. Hechicero caught Neon in a leapfrog attempt and Neon crashed face-first into the mat.

Neon reversed a hold and Hechicero slid under the bottom rope. Volador jumped in and Neon tagged in Mistico. Mistico tried to show respect by offering a handshake, but Rugido and Hechicero ran in and all three beat up Mistico and Neo, leaving Fuego to face down his opponents three-on-one. Rugido (also in his ROH Debut apparently) hit a big dropkick on Mistico who had come in to help Fuego.

Mistico took out Volador and Rugido with a double back elbow and a brawl ensued, leaving Mistico, Fuego and Neon standing tall. They did a co-ordinated triple-dive out of the ring onto their opponents that was really, really, fun. Fuego and Rugido had a fantastic back and forth until Hechicero jumped in and helped with a double team.

Neon began clearing house, taking on all three one at a time. After dispatching Hechicero, Neon tagged in Mistico and Hechicero and Volador tried to double team him, but Mistico stayed alive and hit a headscissor from the top rope on Hechicero. He followed that up with a backbreaker and locked in an armbar submission on Rugido, forcing him to tap out and getting the win for his team.

Fantastic match and a great way to kick things off!

La Catalina defeated Viva Van

La Catalina failed to capture the ROH Women’s World Title from the Forever Champ Athena on ROH on Honorclub episode 106. So her runner-up prize is a match against Viva Van, who’s last televised match made my six-year old daughter exclaim “oh no, Vivian Van!” in a very sympathetic tone.

Similarly matched in size and speed, the two locked up off the top with Catalina taking control. Van fought back but had a hard time finding something that would keep Catalina down. Catalina hit a series of shoulder blocks and a fisherman suplex, but only got a two count as Van kicked out.

Van’s biggest chance came via spinning heel kick as she nailed a stunned Catalina. Van tried to get. her up in a surfboard, but Catalina blocked it. Van turned up the aggression but it left her open to a shining wizard from Catalina.

Catalina set Van up in the corner for some clubbing strikes, but Van wriggled out introduced Catalina’s face to the turnbuckle. Catalina responded with a facebuster, but it couldn’t keep Van down. Catalina caught Van with a bodyscissor choke and Van tapped out, giving the Chilean Catalina the victory.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico & The Beast Mortos) defeated Eli Theseus & Gabriel Aeros

Hey, you know how The Beast Mortos is the scariest wrestler in ROH, non-Gates of Agony division?  The way to make him even scarier is to team him up with Dralistico, with whom Mortos had a killer triple threat match with against Hologram back in the days of yore, September 2024. Dralistico brings all kinds of speed and agility to La Faccion Ingobernable (aka The Ungovernable Faction, which I would like to join). Their victims, uh I mean, opponents, were Theseus and Aeros, who have been tagging together in the Land Down Under and lost to the Frat House (Griff Garrison and Preston Vance) a few weeks ago.

Mortos was kind enough to let Dralistico start things off against Aeros who immediately found himself on the receiving end of a whole bunch of stomps, chops and really stiff looking punches. Theseus tagged in and didn’t fare much better, especially after Mortos tagged in and turned him inside out with a running body slam.

Aeros tried to help his partner, but Mortos headbutted him into next week. Dralistico pinned Theseus and that was it for the match.

AR Fox vs. Kevin Knight – Time Limit Draw

Fox vs Knight was such a meeting of similar wrestlers that they felt the need to put a time limit on it because it might be one of those things where their equality would lead to a match lasting forever. Or the  Board of Directors (are they still around?) made them do it. You pick whichever one feels best. The truth is, the winner of this match would become the #1 Contender for the ROH TV Title that Komander would be defending later in the show.

The crowd was clearly behind Fox, chanting his name before the bell. Knight worked Fox’s arm off the top, trying to take away Fox’s long reach. The two ran a series that was a literal mirror image of each other, both hitting the same moves, neither one getting an upper hand.

Fox stomped Knight in the corner, causing Knight to roll out of the ring to catch his breath. Fox dove onto him and they battled on the outside. Knight pulled Fox back into the ring and hit a standing frogh splash to get a two-count. Knight busted his lip open somwhere along the line and it seemed to make him more aggressive, but a little sloppier. Fox took advantage and hit him with a through-the-rope ddt as I quietly chanted “fight forever” to no one in particular, as I was alone in my office.

This was a really awesome match. Both of these guys can go, and they worked it perfectly so that there was no indication as to who might end up the winner. The only issue with it was that they never actually told the TV audience how long the time limit was (it was 10 minutes). So, suddenly out of nowhere it was announced that there was “one minute left in the match.” Hopefully it guarantees they have another one soon as I would very much like to see it.

Satnam Singh defeated Sid Ellington

Singh’s last match in ROH was way, way back on Episode #62 of ROH on Honorclub when he defeated, of all people, Jimmy Jacobs. The 400lbs Singh was looking to extend(?) that streak(?) against the 97lb Ellington, a Nightmare Factory student in his fourth match… ever.

Ellington threw everything he had at Singh and honestly looked pretty good doing it. But as soon as Singh decided he was bored, he literally picked up Ellington and threw him the 20 feet across the ring, bouncing the smaller man off of the turnbuckles. Twice.

Singh continued beating on Ellington like he stole Singh’s lunch until everyone was screaming “stop, stop, he’s already dead!” (OK, that may have been just me screaming that). Singh pinned him and that was it. I’m all for a good squash, but the idea that Ellington had even a snowball’s chance here strained credulity.

Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) w/ Leila Grey defeated Aaron Solo & QT Marshall

In a really, really stacked Tag Division, Top Flight are close to the top of the ROH Tag Title Chase. Last week, they teamed with Gates of Agony  in a win over The Frat House and The Premier Athletes. This week, they faced Aaron Solo and QT Marshall. Solo is a stalwart ROH Workhorse and Marshall has been hanging around ROH for a while now, presumably because they have better catering? I can’t really tell. There hasn’t been much reason in his current ROH run, but maybe this will be the start of a team with Solo that can enter the Tag Team Fray of ROH.

Solo and Darius began the match, but Dante got involved pretty quickly, with the siblings double teaming Solo. Marshall tagged himself in and the crowd let him know that he sucked. Marshall worked Dante over until the high-flyer took him out with a headscissor.

On the outside, Solo drove Dante into the ring apron (the hardest part of the ring!) before tossing him back into the ring and isolating from his brother. Marshall tried to draw a DQ by punching Darious, but he didn’t go for it as Solo worked over Dante in the corner.

Dante got a hot tag to Darious who disptached Marshall, then turned his attention to Solo. Martin exploded with speed, bringing Solo to his corner and tagging Dante back in. Darious had Solo pinned, but Marshall jumped in to break it up.

Solo and Marshall beat up Darious until Dante could take out Marshall with a hurricanrana to the outside. Darious locked in a submission on Solo and Solo tapped out before Marshall could break it up. Decent match, probably one of the better ones involving Marshall that I’ve seen!

-Next, in a NCAA tie-in, The Outrunners arrived with the Omaha Maverick’s mascot, a bull named Durango. They fired up the Omaha crowd and promoted the Tournament. Suddenly, they were interrupted by the Infantry. They ran down the local sports teams and the Outrunners… left. Durango stayed though and the Outrunners returned with a couple of trash cans. They used the Infantry’s heads to test their durability and sent them packing.

ROH World Television Title Match: Komander (c) (w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Dark Panther

Last week, Komander watched from ringside as Panther took on Aaron Solo. Solo looked pretty good against the veteran Cat-man, but Panther got the win and even did a little riling up of the ROH TV Champ in the process. Komander has been vying for the title of Fightingest Champion In ROH, having defended his TV Title seven times (so far) since winning it in December (for context and comparison, another championship, the ROH Tag Titles, were only defended eight times in all of 2024).

These two were fired up and Komander took control off the top against the larger Panther. Panther switched tactics and started working the leg of Komander, hoping to take away some of his speed and agility.

The best part of these Luchadore matches is the speed. Komander and Panther were moving so fast and hitting so many different moves, the commentary could barely keep up. The fans were loving it too, chanting “Lucha Libre” at any opportunity, while Panther changed things up and worked Komander’s arm.

Komander began stomping on Panther’s feet, trying to get the big man on his back. It didn’t work though and Panther clubbed him to the mat. Komander dodged Panther and Panther ended up on the outside. Komander tried a dive, but Panther caught him and hung him up on the top rope, wrenching his knee.

Panther clearly had Komander scouted and was able to counter just about everything Komander tried. Panther also knew where to work Komander, putting him in surfboards in the center of the rign, stretching his knees.

Panther made a mistake though and gave Komander an opening for some high flying moves. Komander went for a running flip form the top rope, but Panther got his knees up, dazing Komander. Panther followed that with a missile dropkick from the second rope, but Komander got his hand on the ropes during the count.

Komander tossed Panther out of the ring and climbed to the opposite top turnbuckle. He ran along the ropes and dove onto Panther. Throwing him back in the ring, Komander climbed up again and hit a top rope flip to get the pin and retain his ROH TV Title.

After the match, Dark Panther grabbed the title belt and put it on Komander in a sign of respect. A perfect ending to a pretty good show!

Ring of Honor TV live results: Mistico & Atlantis in CMLL trios action

The stars of CMLL will once again be part of Ring of Honor on HonorClub.

Mistico will team with the legendary Atlantis and Esfinge to battle Gran Guerrero, Euforia and Rocky Romero in the night’s featured bout.

Ahead of his AEW International title eliminator bout against Ricochet Saturday, former ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata will take on Lee Johnson.

CMLL’s Dark Panther will go one-on-one with Aaron Solo while Blake Christian will look to run his singles winning streak to eight when he takes on indie star Titus Alexander.

In women’s action, Lady Frost and Leila Grey will do battle while The Frat House (Cole Karter & Preston Vance) will team with the Premier Athletes (Arya Daivari & Tony Nese) against Top Flight and the Gates of Agony.

Is-On-The-Air (clap clap, clap clap clap)

Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) defeated Alpha Zo & CSJ

… and it kicked off in style with the return of Spanish Announce Project! In recent months, SAP have been, y’know, chillin.’ Serpentico and Angelico were last seen teaming to pick up a win way back in November of 2024. Angelico has been out of action with injury, but Serpentico has been keeping the porch lights on, picking up wins over the likes of Brandon Cutler, and losses to the likes of Ricochet. They made their return against Zo (a former Hoodslam INTERGALACTIC Tag Team Champion) and the current IZW Heavyweight (but Earthly) Champion, CJS (aka Can’t Stop Jamaal).

Angelico kicked things off against Zo and he looked like he hadn’t missed a step while he was off. The taller Angelico was able to take whatever the beefier Zo threw at him and shake it off with style. He even showed an uncharacteristic aggressive streak, grabbing dreadlocks of Zo to keep him in an arm hold.

Serpentico tagged in for a double team or two (as well as some smoooooth dancing) an d clearly had the veteran’s advantage over Zo. Serpentico’s agility lets him move fast, but stop on a dime. He controlled the pace of the match until Zo caught him with a backbreaker.

Zo tagged in CSJ and of the two, Zo was the more impressive talent. CSJ was a competent brawler, and isolated Serpentico early on, but did not have the speed of his partner to keep up with the luchadores. Serpentico hit a big double DDT and got a hot tag to Angelico who cleared the ring with ease.

Angelico caught Zo with a spinning heel kick, but CSJ broke up the pin. CSJ and Zo tried to double team, but Angelico was able to get the grapevine on CSJ causing him to tap out and give SAP the win in their big return. I’d love to see these guys take on Rhodes and Guevara for the titles.

-ROH World Champion Chris Jericho joined us from the past at Revolution and cut a promo about his “match” with Gravity and ongoing feud with Bandito. This was a darker Jericho. During that match he almost assaulted Gravity’s mother and sister, and instead of his usual schtick, Jericho sat in a chair and talked with gravitas, calling Bandito out. There was no cheery “thanks guys!” so maybe this is a bit of a turn for Jericho.

Blake Christian defeated Titus Alexander

Christian has been mean, belligerent, awful and really, really good at wrestling for months now. His newfound attitude has racked up a string of wins, but hasn’t gotten him closer to any kind of ROH gold. Alexander has yet to pick up a win in ROH, but to be fair this is only his second bout in the promotion. His finisher is the “Big Ugly” which I personally don’t get because he’s a handsome man.

Christian had a spiffy new haircut and lured Alexander into some big stomps off the top. What followed was a clinic in how to beat someone up at great speed. Christian flew around the ring, keeping Alexander confused and off his feet.

Eventually though, Alexander got a really stiff shot in that sent Christian to the outside. He was waiting for Alexander though and sent him head first into the barricades. Christian threw Alexander back into the ring and began working him over, stomping his arm and raking his eyes.

Alexander for his part seemed like he was able to keep up with Christian in terms of speed and agility. The problem was, Christian wasn’t giving him enough time to get set, so Alexander was always on defence, trying to recover from all kinds of kicks and holds.

Christian, a killer heel in the traditional style, got under the crowd’s skin so much they were fully, fully behind Alexander, erupting in cheers whenever he managed to get some momentum. Christian turned the tables though and hit a modified curb stomp into Vanilla Choke Zero, forcing a submission to get the win under a chorus of boos.

Leila Grey defeated Lady Frost

Before the match, a vignette for Grey aired, seemingly revealing her new “Baddie” persona. Grey has put together a decent 4-2 record in ROH since last fall. Her only singles losses coming at the hands (and feet and knees and elbows, etc) of ROH Wormen’s World Champion Athena in a Proving Ground Match, and ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet. Frost, on the other hand, has not won a televised singles match in ROH since July of 2024. She is currently on a 7-match losing streak, but hey, maybe this will be different?

Frost was looking absolutely jacked as she entered the ring, but Grey was able to keep up with her, trading strength for control in the way of a very long headlock. Grey put Frost in a backslide for a 2-count, and that seemed to empower Grey who took it to her in the corner.

Frost for her part showed what she always shows: That she’s a very very good wrestler who tends to make a single mistake that her opponents can capitalize on. It’s not so much that she loses, as mich as she just doesn’t win.

Grey put a knee into Frost’s face and locked in a Dragon Sleeper. Frost struggled for the ropes, but Grey didn’t let up. Frost sent Grey to the mat with a backdrop, and Grey caught her in a rollup to get the pin and continue Frost’s impressive losing streak.

Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) defeated The Frat House (Cole Karter & Preston Vance) & The Premier Athletes (Ari Daivari & Tony Nese) (w/Jacked Jameson & Mark Sterling)

This week’s Traditional ROH “Everybody Into the Pool” match comes to us with two tag team duos of… duos. Gates of Agony recently ate up and spat out challengers such as Terry Yaki and Bad Dude Tito, but Top Flight have been grounded as of late with their Flight Attendant (are we still calling her that?) Leila Grey picking up more wins than they have, one as recently as this show. On the other side The Frat House and Premier Athletes share a certain amount of douchebaggery between the four of them. They teamed together in Feb in a 12-man match, but lost, so perhaps this scaled-down version of that teaming will yield better results.

The Frat House have a bunch of new gear with their logos prominently displayed on their crotches. For that alone, they deserve what they got in this match. Gates of Agony were met with a huge ovation and went straight for the Frat House, beating up Vance and Karter on the outside. In the Ring, Top Flight took it to the Athletes and somewhere in there a bell rang and the match was on.

Nese and Dante battled in the ring with the dust had settled and it was a great matchup. Nese has always been excellent in the ring with both strength and speed. Dante sent him to the corner though which brought in Karter to face off against Kaun who flattened him.

It was hard to keep track of who was legal because people kept jumping in and out and there were multiple assaults on the outside by Sterling and Jameson. Toa grabbed a chair though and ran them off while Daivari and Darius fought in the ring.

No matter how much momentum the Frat-thletes got though, all it took was 10 seconds in the ring with either Liona or Kaun and the momentum would shift back to Top Gates. Kaun sent Karter over the top rope and it looked like he smashed his knee on the ring apron on the way down (the hardest part of the ring!). Kaun then used Dante as a weapon, throwing him out of the ring onto all four members of the Frat-thletes, much to the crowd’s delight.

Jameson tried to cause a distraction for Vance, but ended up distracting Vance himself. That let the Gates of Agony hit, well, the Gates of Agony and Liona sat down squarely on Vance’s chest for the win.

Honestly, the tag scene in ROH is HOT right now and there are about half a dozen teams that could line up for a shot at the titles.

Dark Panther defeated Aaron Solo

The great CMLL/ROH: Crisis of Infinite Luchadores crossover continues with Dark Panther taking on workhorse Aaron Solo. Panther has a TV title match next week and was in a Panther, Panther, Panther match last week which his team won (probably because of all the panthers) and Solo lost to Adam Page on Dynamite two weeks ago in :54 seconds. So he’s got that going for him.

ROH TV Champion Komander was at ringside to scout Panther for their match next week and was probably a little nervous watching Panther absolutely manhandle Solo. Solo was not ready for Panther’s speed and ended up eating a big chunk of the ring apron (the most delicious part of the ring!)

Solo had a one high spot (literally) with a double stomp off the top rope that seemed to slow Panther down. Panther wasn’t out though, responding with a bit tilt-o-whirl backbreacker. The two traded chops after that, which was not a great decision on Solo’s part, given he was giving up about 50lbs to Panther.

Panther caught him with a really vicious armbar until the ref yelled at him in Spanish to break the hold. The crowd was on Panther’s side as he set Solo up for a Suicide Dive on the outside and throwing him into the barricade in front of Komander before tossing him back in the ring.

Panther hit a big missile dropkick from the top rope and followed it up with another one for good measure. That put Solo away, giving Panther the win and impressing Komander, who he faces next week for the ROH TV Title.

After the match, Panther unwrapped his wrist tape and threw it at Komander who hopped the rail. The Ref stepped in though and kept the two separated.

Katsuyori Shibata defeated Lee Johnson

Shibata makes his return to ROH here against the “Lee” in LEEJ, Lee Johnson. Shibata was last seen back in January defeating Shane Taylor and has since made a play for the AEW International Title then held by Konosuke Takeshita, but came up empty. Johnson has been hanging out with EJ Nduka and is fresh off a rest after losing to ROH World Television Champion Komander about a month ago.

This was a first-time matchup for these two and a test of strength was in order off the top. I never know who actually wins those things, so we’ll say it was Shibata because Johnson ended up in a headlock. Shibata began working Johnson’s right arm as the two went through a really technical series, ending up with Johnson in a Figure Four.

Johnson managed to get free but Shibata began chopping him in the corner. At this point, Johnson was limping from the figure four, had a dangling arm and a swollen chest. He rolled out of the ring and Shibata followed, but Johnson was able to get the advantage and throw him into the barricades.

Back in the ring, Johnson talked a lot of trash and even went for Shibata’s eye, nearly causing a DQ. Switching to running chops, Johnson woke the beast in Shibata who began no-selling them and getting right into Johnson’s face before throwing a dozen chops of his own, knocking Johnson silly.

Johnson fought back though, saying that Shibata had “nothing” and then hit a really scary looking driver on Shibata’s head. Shibata was ok though and popped up to lick in an Iron Claw followe dbut a back suplex and big kick to the jaw. That was it for Johnson and Shibata got the pin.

-Lexy Nair interviewed the Frat House in the back. Jameson arrived with red solo cups allegedly containing beers and they chugged them. Vance declared that “win or lose, they booze!” That conjured 2/3rds of the Dark Order. Evil Uno confronted Vance and told him to grow up. Life is about more than partying. Vance thew his solo cup at Alex Reynolds and Uno assured him that the Frat House would get theirs.

Atlantis, Esfinge & Mistico defeated Euforia, Rocky Romero & Valiente

The Main Event of the night featured another CMLL/ROH: Crisis of Infinite Luchadores crossover match, but, like, with more of them. Atlantis (A legend, who once held the NWA Light Heavyweight Championship for a staggering 1353 days) teams with current Mexican National Light Heavyweight Champion, Esfinge and Mistico who is the current MLW Middleweight Champion. Across the ring is 1/3rd of the CMLL Trios Champions, Euforia and Valienta who held that very same title with a few different teammates for over 1500 collective days. Also, Rocky Romero was there.

This match was under Luchadore Rules, which meant that if someone rolled out under the bottom rope, it counted as a tag and a new team member could jump in. Euforia, taking a break form playing drums for Carlos Santana, started it off against Mistico, with a helping hand from Romero.

To try and keep up with who was legal when was a fools errand, but the match was full of amazing spots. Euforia hit a big splash from the top rope on Atlantis. Romero and Valiente double teamed Mistico until he hit a headscissor on Euforia. Esfinge and Valiente had a spirited exchange until Romero jumped in and Esfinge cleared the ring of them both.

Esfinge tagged in Atlantis to the crowd’s joy but Euforia tooke their breath away by knocking him silly. Atlantis fought back and landed a big backbreaker on Euforia, then dished out a couple to his teammates as well. Mistico and Valiente faced off next, with the former facing a lot of boos from the crowd.

A twisting wristlock takedown sent Valiente to the ouside and brought in Euforia. Mistico dispatched him the same way and then catapulted onto Euforia over the top rope on the outside. From there all six men brawled, with Esfinge left legal against…. one of the other guys. Everyone was simply choosing the opposing luchadore nearest to them and fighting them. In the ring, Mistico and Euforia battled until Mistico caught Euforia with an armbar, forcing the lucha legend to tap out.

Another great night of wrestling in ROH!

Ring of Honor TV spoilers from Oakland: Mistico returns

The following are spoilers for future editions of Ring of Honor TV, taped before and after Saturday’s AEW Collision in Oakland, California:

  • Billie Starkz defeated Mylo
  • Spanish Announce Project (Angelico & Serpentico) defeated Alpha Zo & CSJ
  • Blake Christian defeated Titus Alexander. For the first several minutes, Christian dominated Alexander, who you may have seen in NOAH, until Alexander hit a springboard cutter. Alexander hit a dive outside and then a shining wizard on Christian. Later, Christian rolled through a belly to back suplex, hit a curb stomp, and then slapped on the Vanilla Choke Zero for the win.
  • ROH Tag Team Champions Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) defeated Jon Cruz and Olumide. MxM Collection attacked the champions and took their belts until Rhodes and Guevara turned the tables with a superkick/Shattered Dreams to get their belts back.
  • Dark Panther defeated Aaron Solo. ROH Men’s TV Champion Komander and Alex Abrahantes watched from ringside. Komander and Panther had a face off with a little physicality before Aubrey Edwards intervened.
  • Katsuyori Shibata defeated Lee Johnson
  • Leyia Grey defeated Lady Frost
  • Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin) and The Gates of Agony (Toa Leona & Bishop Kaun) defeated Premier Athletes (Arya Daivari & Tony Nese) and The Frat House (Cole Karter & Preston Vance)
  • Gravity defeated Griff Garrison
  • Mistico, Atlantis & Esfinge defeated Rocky Romero, Valiente & Euforia. This was action packed. Heat on the technicos. Big monkey flips on the rudos by Esfinge. Almost as high as a backdrop. Mistico paired off against Valiente. Good stuff. Mistico spring board outside onto Euphoria. Dives outside by Atlantis and Esfinge. Mistico locked La Mistica on Euforia for the submission.

This Week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter Back Issue

Sunday Update

— Bryan and I will be back tonight talking about The Rock, the McMahon suit, the Ryan Nemeth suit, Mistico magic travels, SmackDown, and the rest of the weekend news. Our weekend show with Garrett Gonzales talked news of the past week including AEW/WWE ratings, Shane McMahon & Tony Khan, the incredible career of Gran Hamada and the heyday of UWA wrestling in Mexico and start of Lucharesu, the best wrestling schedule and WWE trauma and how it affects talent who are fired from the organization.

— Sad to report the death of Mike Boehne, who wrestled from about 2000 to 2018 in the Midwest as Eric “The Underwear Model” Priest. His death was from  a car accident at the age of 50. He started with  Ace Steel and Danny Dominion. He trained a lot of Chicago area guys. He was the world champion of the Dale Gagner (who used the name Dale Gagne claiming a relationship with the Gagne family) in the AWA after the more famous AWA had folded in the Midwest. Our longtime reader Steve Stone and Behne were talking about starting a podcast.  He had done some matches for WWE, TNA and ROH as an enhancement guy over the years.

— Lawyers for Vince McMahon in their response to the new Janel Grant lawsuit and in their argument for arbitration sent a 23-page filing saying that everything new in the lawsuit was known at the time of the original lawsuit and asked why it wasn’t in the original suit. They also argued that because Grant accepted the first $1 million payment that means she accepted the terms of the NDA and it has to be upheld, meaning the case has to go to arbitration rather than go to court. They are arguing that the SEC fine has no relevance to this case and that the allegations against Dr. Carlon Colker aren’t relevant to the case.

— SmackDown ratings will be out tomorrow for the U.S. For Netflix countries for the daily placings on the first day the show aired in the respective countries, it was down in Canada (second place last week; fifth this week), up in Mexico (fifth last four, fourth this week), down in the U.K. (second last week fourth this week), down in Australia (fourth last week, fifth this week) and up in New Zealand (fifth last week; fourth this week).

— It appears Mistico is going to work this coming Friday at Arena Mexico. So the idea is he’s working Friday night in Tokyo, flying to Mexico City and working Friday night there, then flying to San Francisco for the AEW show on Saturday night.  I guess it’s possible.

— In last night’s UFC show, the main event saw Song Yadong get a technical decision when Henry Cejudo couldn’t continue after an eye poke. There is a lot of controversy because if Yadong was given a foul point as he should have for the eye poke, the fight would have been scored  a majority draw. Dana White was asked afterwards if he wanted to do a rematch and said, “Not at all.  Not even a little bit. I just don’t want to see it again.”

— Cejudo posted a photo today and said he suffered diplopia (double vision), soft tissue damage and a corneal abrasion. Cejudo was hospitalized after the show and said that he wanted a rematch.

— New Day vs. Joaquin Wilde & Cruz del Toro has been added to Raw tomorrow.

— For Google searches this weekend, SmackDown had 20,000 and usually it doesn’t rate. UFC’s show yesterday had 700,000, which is high for a fight night. Brendan Allen was evidently a big hit.

— For Raw tomorrow, they’ve pushed Seth Rollins, CM Punk and Logan Paul all on the show pushing the Men’s Chamber match.

— Regarding Clark Connors coming to AEW, he is still with New Japan but is working some dates in AEW.

— For some matches to check out, I haven’t seen it yet but I’ve been told to make sure to see the Komander vs. Lee Johnson and CMLL match on ROH over the weekend and the CMLL Mexico City vs. Guadalajara Torneo de Escuelas match from Friday night. Hologram vs. Mortos and Chris Jericho vs. Bandido on last night’s Collision were both excellent.

— Pro Wrestling Revolucion sold out in San Jose last night with more than 1,000 fans for Ultimo Dragon vs. Negro Casas. I saw those two at a sold out Korakuen Hall live 25 years ago.

–There was a serious accident at a show in Aguascalientes last night at the El Hijo del Santo farewell show. The rope snapped in the opener when two guys were going for a Spanish fly.  The show was stopped and an ambulance was called for. Misterius suffered a fractured collarbone and  cervical sprain. The police were called. They did resume the show afterwards.

— Phaidra Knight made history last night as she is believed to be the oldest woman ever to win an MMA fight in the U.S. Knight fought at Flex Fights in Patchogue NY, and won her first pro fight at the age of 50. She went 6-0 as an amateur. She was an outstanding athlete, named U.S. Rugby Player of the decade of 2000-2009 and is in the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

— GFL has applied to run shows at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden for shows this spring and summer.

— Vickie Guerrero will appear on the 3/15 Memphis Wrestling TV tapings.

Mistico to appear at upcoming AEW Collision

CMLL star Mistico will return to the AEW ring next month.

The promotion announced on Friday that he will appear at the Saturday, March 1st Collision event from Oakland, California’s Oakland Arena.

It will be the 42-year-old’s first appearance in AEW since the November 27th Collision where he teamed with Private Party in a win over Johnny TV and MxM Collection.

On an episode of Wrestling Observer Radio this past week, Dave Meltzer believed Mistico was heading to Oakland for the show given some comments about travel he made recently.

Mistico, a longtime favorite of AEW head Tony Khan, made his promotional debut in October 2023 with a win over Rocky Romero in a best-of-three falls match. He returned for one-off appearances in January, February and March 2024 before entering a Casino gauntlet match in May that was won by Will Ospreay.

He made his Forbidden Door debut last June, teaming with Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo in a win over Titan, Hiromu Takahashi and Yota Tsuji.

MLW titles to be defended at NJPW & CMLL Fantasticamania

MLW is set to play a part in NJPW x CMLL Fantasticamania 2025.

The tour is taking place this month and will conclude with two straight nights at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on February 27-28. It was announced today that MLW titles will be defended on both nights. The promotion has partnerships with both NJPW and CMLL.

– On night one, NJPW legend Satoshi Kojima and CMLL veteran OKUMURA will put their MLW Tag Team titles on the line against luchadores Rugido & Magnus. It’s a rematch from last year’s NJPW & CMLL Fantasticamania USA event, where Kojima & OKUMURA retained their belts.

That prior match between the teams happened during Kojima & OKUMURA’s first MLW Tag Team title reign. They are now two-time champs after regaining the belts from Minoru Suzuki & Ikuro Kwon in December.

– Night two at Korakuen Hall will be headlined by Mistico defending the MLW Middleweight Championship against Averno. Mistico has held the title since February 2024 and will reach one full year as champion if he wins this match.

“The first title that a young Mistico ever held was NWA’s World Middleweight Championship won from Averno back in January 2005,” NJPW wrote. “20 years removed, could it be Averno that ends a historic MLW title run?”

Both of the Korakuen Hall events will air live on NJPW World. Here are the full cards:

Mistico & other CMLL stars returning to AEW this month

Various CMLL stars are on their way back to AEW Dynamite.

Announced during Saturday’s episode of Collision, Hechicero, Atlantis Jr. and Mascara Dorada will be part of this Wednesday’s Dynamite from Reading, Pennsylvania.

The following Wednesday on the Thanksgiving Eve edition of Dynamite from Chicago, Mistico will return to the AEW ring.

Opponents for the four men were not announced.

It will be Hechicero’s first AEW appearance since this past June’s Forbidden Door when he was defeated by MJF. Atlantis Jr. last appeared in October in a Collision loss to Kyle Fletcher while Dorada’s last appearance was this past February as part of a trios match.

Mistico hasn’t been in AEW since an August Collision tag team match when he teamed up with Hologram.

After a fake graphic made its way to social media last month, AEW officials said they indeed were interested in making a match between Konosuke Takeshita and Dorada but it remains to be seen whether that happens Wednesday.
