Mercedes Mone set to defend BestYa Women’s title in Italy

Mercedes Mone has been booked for another title defense.

She will defend her BestYa Wrestling Women’s Championship at Mone Mayhem on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Bagnolo Cremasco, Italy.

BestYa Wrestling wrote (translated):

“The moment everyone has been waiting for has arrived. @mercedesmone officially returns to the Bestya Wrestling ring 💰💰💰 This isn’t just a show.
It’s MONÉ MAYHEM. 💥 In the most anticipated main event of the year, the CEO will defend the Bestya Women’s Championship against the challenge of @swan_wrestling, the BEAST of Italian wrestling.

Mone will defend the title against “The Beast” Swan, a veteran of the Italian independent scene.

Mone originally won the title on July 7, 2025, at PTW All About the Moné in Kosów, Poland, defeating Diana Strong for the vacant championship. She successfully retained the title at Bestya Wrestling Imperium against Queen Maya on November 9 in Rome, Italy.

Mone, who announced taking a break from AEW on the January 10 episode of AEW Collision, has been booked for multiple upcoming events. She is scheduled to appear at a show in France on March 14, followed by an event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on March 31.

Mercedes Mone set for title defense night before AEW show

Mercedes Mone is set to defend one of her titles in Winnipeg the night before AEW presents Dynamite in the same city.

Mone will defend her Winnipeg Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship at WPW Fight at the Museum, scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at The Manitoba Museum. AEW will be in Winnipeg the following night on Wednesday, April 1 for Dynamite at the Canada Life Centre.

Her challenger has yet to be announced and will be determined at WPW’s March 13 and 14 Voyageurs Cup events.

This will be Mone’s first defense of the WPW Women’s title, which she won by defeating Jody Threat at WPW Rumble in the Burt on October 19.

WPW is coming off a unique event earlier this week, having co-hosted Brawl at the Hall with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra at the Centennial Concert Hall. Matches featuring Jody Threat, Ava Lawless, and others took place with the orchestra surrounding the ring. WPW announced a sold-out crowd of 2,300, and the event received national news coverage in Canada.

Mercedes Mone announced for indie show in France

Mercedes Mone’s wrestling hiatus isn’t going to last much longer.

Since losing the AEW TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale at the end of 2025, Mone has taken a break from the ring. We now know that she’ll be in action by next month, though, with Banger Zone Wrestling announcing that Mone will compete at their Apogee event on Saturday, March 14. The show is being held in Dreux in collaboration with fellow indie promotion Rixe Catch.

Mone’s opponent has not been named. The card includes a triple threat match with Minoru Suzuki facing Connor Mills and Georges Balzac.

The last time we saw Mone on television was a January episode of Collision where she appeared in a pre-taped video. Distraught over losing the TBS title, Mone cut a promo saying she was tired of being disrespected and would be taking a break. Mone vowed to collect more than just titles when she returns.

Mone accumulated many indie titles in 2025 with her Belt Collector gimmick where she traveled the world looking for gold. She still holds those titles and the CMLL Women’s World Championship but is no longer a champion in AEW.

During her break, Mone visited the VIP spa House of the Sun in Los Angeles and said she is feeling incredible after receiving treatment.

Naomi addresses she & Sasha Banks’ 2022 walkout on ‘WWE: Unreal’

One of the two primary focuses of the second episode of WWE: Unreal’s second season was the 2022 departure of Naomi and Sasha Banks and Naomi’s triumphant return, punctuated by her women’s Money in the Bank match win in 2025.

Naomi said she really didn’t want to talk about it, but then did, saying that “A lot that happened that day at work that led us to leave…like literally walk out.”

Footage of Banks, now Mercedes Mone in WWE, was shown on camera but was barely referred to by name with creative team member Ed Koskey calling Banks “her partner.” In discussing the situation, Koskey also said there was a “different head of creative and different head of talent relations” without mentioning the names Vince McMahon or John Laurinaitis.

Current head of creative Paul Levesque said that he wasn’t involved with main roster talent then and that “They had enough and they left.”

Then the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, the two left an episode of WWE Raw before the show after a creative disagreement. Both were eventually released with Naomi heading to TNA in a move that revived her career and eventually brought her back. Banks became Mone and eventually signed with AEW where she currently wrestles.

“I needed to stand up for myself not as Naomi but as Trinity,” Naomi said, adding that for the first time in her life and career, she was unemployed and unsure what to do next.

“It was a difficult and scary time for me,” she said.

Levesque later added that similar to the R-Truth situation that was also covered in the second episode, they never wanted Naomi gone from WWE and always felt like it was her home which was a “big driving force to get her to come back.”

Mercedes Mone says she’s ‘taking a break from AEW’ on Collision

Mercedes Mone is taking a break.

On this week’s Collision, a video aired of Mone in her locker room reeling after the events of the Willow Nightingale TBS title victory celebration where she managed to get a celebratory cake thrown in her face and was laid out after confronting the new champion. Sitting near a mirror, Mone had a breakdown saying she was tired of the disrespect.

“I am taking a break from AEW,” she declared. “To show you why and how I elevated. And good luck without me. Because when I return, I am collecting more than just titles.”

After peaking at 13, Mone has seen a string of bad luck that has whittled her titles down to just 9. She recently lost the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s title to Alex Windsor, and also lost the ROH Women’s Television title to former champion Red Velvet. But the her most high profile title loss took place on the final Dynamite of 2025, where Nightingale finally ended Mercedes Mone’s nearly 600 day reign as champion.

Willow Nightingale wins AEW TBS Championship on New Year’s Smash Dynamite, makes history

Willow Nightingale has finally done it and was crowned the brand new AEW TBS Champion on the New Year’s Smash Dynamite episode.

Tonight on the December 31st episode of Dynamite, Nightingale defeated Mone in a nearly 15-minute bout to capture the TBS Championship after a wait of almost 584 days. The finish included several close calls and violent moments, including a suplex on the announcer’s desk. However, despite all the adversities, Nightingale fought back and secured the victory after executing the Babe with the Powerbomb move on Mone.

Tonight’s victory marked Nightingale’s second AEW TBS Championship victory. She first held the title from April 21, 2024, to May 26, 2024, before Mone defeated her to win the title. She is also one-half of the AEW Tag Team Champions alongside Harley Cameron and created history tonight by becoming the first woman to hold two AEW titles simultaneously.

After the match concluded, members of the Conglomeration, Harley Cameron, Speedball Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight all came out to celebrate with Nightingale. Her former rival Kris Statlander also came out before hugging the new champion to close Dynamite New Year’s Smash.

Mone was on a roll since last year, winning championships at a rapid pace. However, starting in December 2025, her downhill journey began when she lost the ROH Women’s World Television Champion, RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion, and now the TBS title in rapid succession.

AEW New Year’s Smash Dynamite live results: The fallout from Worlds End

The final AEW show of 2025 and the fallout edition from last weekend’s Worlds End has arrived with tonight’s live New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite from Omaha, Nebraska.

After regaining the AEW World title after a two-year break, MJF will appear to address his title win and what’s next for him.

Following a tag team match at the Zero Hour pre-show at Worlds End, AEW National Champion Ricochet will defend against “Jungle” Jack Perry.

After she was pinned in the AEW Women’s Tag Team title match Saturday, TBS Champion Mercedes Mone will put up the title against Willow Nightingale in an attempt to get revenge.

New AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley will face Josh Alexander in a title eliminator.

Our live coverage kicks off at 8 pm Eastern.

AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone as they run down the card before we go to a highlight video of this past weekend’s Worlds End PPV ending with the visual of MJF holding the AEW World Title high in the air. We go backstage to a car pulling up and MJF, rocking a fur coat, steps out with a huge smile on his face. His coat is taken off at the door by a woman (fairly certain indy wrestler Izzy B) and he walks right to the ring to pyro, red carpet in the ring and a title covered up.

MJF’s Title Celebration Presents Challengers Aplenty

MJF said Swerve Strickland is the franchise, Samoa Joe is the Samoan Submission Machine, Hangman Page is the main character, that’s cute, he’s MJF, the World Champion. F the Big 3, it’s just me (he tosses the AEW World Title to the floor) and the Triple B. MJF uncovers his Big Burberry Belt and tells the fans to settle down, daddy has the mic. Fans said MJF were supposed to take it easy on their favorites, but if you’re dumb enough to think you’re on the level of the Devil, you either step up or get stepped on. MJF is a stallion, done slow trotting around so the donkeys in the back can keep up. From now on, it’s a sprint and no one is going to catch him, as he’ll go down the greatest of all time. His name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, I’m better than you and you know it.

Kenny Omega appears on the big screen from his home saying he’s sorry to interrupt. Omega said MJF made him feel like the old Kenny Omega is reaching the end of his career more than the beginning, which is a stone he hates leaving unturned. What if, he can become AEW World Champion once again? What if they meet in the ring today? It wouldn’t be MJF vs. The Cleaner, Best Bout Machine or Belt Collector. Omega isn’t collecting belts; he’s going for one. Whether it’s next week or he has to claw his way to a title shot, MJF is going to be seeing a lot more of Omega, who must bid you adieu, goodbye and goodnight…bang!

MJF said the dumb schmuck fans chant his name, but Omega wasn’t man enough to come out and say it to his face. Hangman Adam Page & Swerve Strickland’s music hit respectively and they’re shown in different areas of the fans. They head to ringside, but are held back by security. MJF told them to relax, he’s a professional wrestler, who believes wins and losses matter, meaning they’re both losers. If you start winning matches, talk to Tony Khan and he’ll whip both their asses like he did at Worlds End. MJF quickly scurried away as Page & Strickland broke free and beat the hell out of the security, using the chain before hitting a double powerbomb and assisted Buckshot into a House Call.

Page took the mic and said when he gets ahold of MJF, he’s going to strangle him with his ugly ass belt. Strickland said MJF better pray Page gets to him before he does, the hunt is on and may the worst men win. Samoa Joe & The Opps are on the big screen saying they deserve nothing, Joe deserves to be the #1 Contender. He has the answer for the obstacles in his way, Page & Strickland had the audacity to put their hands on HOOK, the greatest second-generation wrestler in history and he’s ordered HOOK to choke them out on sight. Hobbs is coming for Strickland, while HOOK is targeting Page, next week. Page said it’s new year, same dumbass and begs Joe to send him HOOK. Strickland said No Holds Barred Lights Out next week.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Conglomeration & Roderick Strong. Mark Briscoe said they’re rolling heading into 2026 and after tonight, they’ll have the TBS Title with Willow Nightingale winning it from Mercedes Mone. Briscoe wouldn’t be surprised if Ted Turner wants to conglomerate. The Word of the Day is asphyxiation as just like Worlds End, the Death Riders will be choking on deez nuts. Timeless Toni Storm saunters in and Cassidy kisses her hand, until Mina Shirakawa comes in upset, telling Cassidy to keep his hands out of his pockets. Storm reminds her this isn’t sexual, as she had Luther hand her an orange, which she takes a bite out of and strolls off, with Briscoe following them, asking for a bite. Strong yells Renee’s name and said he wants no part of this and walks off.

Timeless Toni Storm, Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong vs. Death Riders (CMLL Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia & Marina Shafir) in a New Year’s Eve Tornado Trios Match

(This was another round of Mixed Nuts Mayhem from the PPV, this time with the heels getting their win back. Lots of different stories could branch off from this and I’m genuinely interested in seeing where they go. These past two matches have been a lot of fun, as they’ve done the intergender work really well.)

Brawl right at the bell, as Storm hit a Thesz Press on Shafir and shotgun dropkick to follow, as the men brawl around ringside. Ten corner punches by Storm, who poses, but was sent outside by Castagnoli. Strong lit up Castagnoli with chops and a perfect dropkick before unleashing ten corner punches of his own. Garcia tackles Strong to the corner and gets in nine punches before mocking the crowd. Cassidy takes Garcia to the corner, winds up and hits one punch to a huge reaction until Shafir applies a Full Nelson. Hands in the pockets for Cassidy, who slid out into a roll-up on Shafir for two, who pops up and hits a strike, allowing Garcia to deliver a release German. Cassidy ate the locomotion corner strikes into a double big boot like what happened at Worlds End as things go to commercial.

Back from break, all three Death Riders were working over Strong in the corner, as Garcia & Castagnoli held Shafir for some chops, he broke free, teased a backbreaker, but she was saved and hit a Judo Throw on Strong. Dodging a corner charge, Strong dropped Castagnoli with a dive outside, as Storm & Cassidy side-stepped a charging Garcia & Shafir and wound up in a tango position, spinning each other into strikes on the Death Riders until Castagnoli ran into a double hip toss. Storm signaled for the Giant Swing, but Garcia booted her in the face. Cassidy flew in with Orange Punch, but turned into Mother’s Milk from Shafir. Strong pulled her off and dropped Shafir with a backbreaker. Castagnoli laid out Strong, rolled through a top rope cross body from Cassidy, who countered into Stundog Millionaire. Sweet Cheek Music from Storm, spinning DDT by Cassidy as Castagnoli took the official. The distraction allowed Wheeler Yuta to hang up Cassidy on the top rope, leading to a massive uppercut from Castagnoli, who got the pin.

Death Riders celebrated ringside, as Shafir flipped off their opponents with Castagnoli staring down Storm, who was checking on Cassidy. Mina Shirakawa & Luther came in and tried to turn Storm’s attention away, as Strong slowly offered a hand to help Cassidy up.

Match Result: Death Riders defeated Timeless Toni Storm, Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong when Castagnoli pinned Cassidy

-Video package on Ultimo Mone’s title victories over the course of the last year. Every era Mercedes Mone enter gets defined and promotion she wrestles in gets elevated. No longer chasing history, Mone is the history, the blueprint, the ceiling. AEW is where she showed the world who she is, she’s not just money, she’s the CEO of women’s wrestling, the greatest TBS Champion of all time.

ROH World Champion Bandido vs. ROH Tag Team Champion The Beast Mortos

(Very good showcase for Bandido ahead of his World Title match on Dynamite in a few weeks. Mortos is always a great opponent and I wish we got to see him more consistently on AEW programming, especially Dynamite. While he doesn’t have many wins, he’s one of the most consistently entertaining guys on the roster.)

We’re immediately reminded that Bandido will be facing MJF for the AEW World Title in 2 weeks at Maximum Carnage. Both men show off their athleticism early, with Mortos swiping away at a handshake. Bandido used his entrance cape to play bull fighter, as Mortos misses charges, but not the headbutt to put a stop to the shenanigans. Mortos stomps on the cape and connects with a Tornillo through the ropes outside. Back inside, both trade up/overs, arm drags and pin attempts before we get a stalemate. Bandido dodged a corner charge, sending Mortos outside, giving Bandido a chance to put his cape on and hit a huge cross body off the top into break.

Mortos gained control during commercial and played to the crowd, allowing Bandido to get a flash roll-up for two. Deja-Deja-Vu from Bandido left Mortos reeling, as he ate a thrust kick, allowing Bandido to head up top for a big Frog Splash. Mortos answered with his running Crucifix Bomb and pop-up Samoan Drop for two. Bandido slides out of a fireman’s carry, looks for X-Knee, but couldn’t get the big man up, allowing Mortos to hit a Torture Rack backbreaker and discus lariat for a close near fall. Another lariat turned Bandido inside out, as Mortos went for a corkscrew Moonsault, but missed. Bandido threw a pump kick and somehow managed to get Mortos up into X-Knee and 21-Plex for the win.

Match Result: Bandido defeated The Beast Mortos

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Brodido and asks if this win against Mortos gives Bandido the momentum heading into Maximum Carnage. After a fired-up promo in Spanish by Bandido, Brody King said Bandido is the Most Wanted, everyone is gunning for him and in 2 weeks, he’ll have an even bigger target. Once Bandido wins the AEW World Title and becomes Bandido 2-Belts again, King is getting the first shot. Until then, King has some business to handle.

Brody King vs. Lee Johnson

Johnson flew over the top with a dive during King’s entrance and that only pissed off King, who demolished Johnson with chops and being chucked into the barricade. Inside the ring, the match officially begins, as Johnson got up boots in the corner, hit a thrust kick, charged, only to be turned inside out with a massive King lariat. Crowd starts barking, as a huge cannonball in the corner led to the Gonzo Bomb for the quick win.

Match Result: Brody King defeated Lee Johnson

-Video of Darby Allin talking about going to hell with Gabe Kidd at Worlds End. He’s not numb to the pain, he’s more aware of it than anyone, knowing what it gives him. He wishes he could relay the beauty that pain gives him. In 2025, he stood atop of Mount Everest, in 2026, he wants to stand atop of AEW, but not before he can defeat all the Death Riders, which he’s done, except one, PAC. He doesn’t know when or where, but he needs to get that win.

Continental Champion Jon Moxley vs. Josh Alexander in a Continental Title Eliminator Match

(It feels like not that long ago Moxley was trying to drown Darby Allin on PPV, now the AEW crowd loves him. This C2 has done such a great job in building Moxley as a babyface, even though the rest of his crew are still heels. These past few months of him tapping out make the fans heavily invested in his matches that much more, as regardless the opponent, when he’s trapped in a submission, they’re biting. Alexander was an excellent first opponent in this reign for Moxley, who, as we saw in the post-match, will be having plenty of Eliminator matches during this run, one that will thankfully have no interference.)

Don Callis gave last minute instructions to Alexander before going backstage (no one allowed ringside), as we’re told with Continental Rules, if the match goes to a 20-minute time limit, that’s just as good as win for Alexander, as he’d earn a title shot. Renee Paquette is ringside and said 2026 is Death Riders vs. The World, but recently it feels like Death Riders vs. Don Callis Family and Alexander told her earlier that he’s bringing the title home to The Family. As Moxley came over the barricade to ringside, he was wincing big time, selling the bad leg from Worlds End. Alexander attacked at the bell and wrenches at the mouth of Moxley, as we’re reminded of the broken tooth suffered at the PPV. Chop battle ensues, which only amps up Moxley, who switched to punches. Alexander shot a single leg after being flipped off and targeted the bad wheel. Moxley went to the eyes until he was backdropped over the top to the floor, leaving him clutching his leg.

It was all Alexander during break, but when things returned, Moxley scurried into a Rear Naked Choke briefly, but Alexander slid out into an Ankle Lock. Moxley really teases a tap, but makes the ropes, rolling to the apron. Alexander out with him, as they trade suplex and piledriver attempts until Alexander slipped behind, chopped the back and leads to a strike exchange until Moxley’s leg got kicked out and Alexander hit a Strongest Slam on the apron at the 10-minute call. Back inside, Alexander missed a moonsault, as Moxley missed Paradigm Shift, so we got more trading of strikes that again saw Alexander dropkick out the leg. Moxley fired off a desperation Cutter for two, then sank in a Bulldog Choke, which Alexander countered into a back suplex. Moxley popped up and delivered a backdrop driver of his own, as he turned Alexander inside out with a lariat into the double down.

The crowd are loudly behind Moxley, who hits an Elbow Suicida, working through the pain of the bad leg. Alexander swept the leg out on the opposite side of the ring and posted the leg before sinking in the Figure Four on the post. Alexander had to let it go, as he hit a huge diving knee drop to the leg back inside. While wrenching the ankle, Moxley raked the eyes and pulled Alexander into a choke before firing off Anvil elbows, knocking Alexander’s head gear off, as a Rear Naked Choke was applied and Alexander passed out.

Post-match, MVP & Shelton Benjamin walk to the entrance aisle and stare down Moxley, as we’re reminded how close Benjamin was to advancing to the C2 Semis last year. Moxley briefly stares back before hobbling over the barricade through the crowd.

Match Result: Jon Moxley defeated Josh Alexander

-Triangle of Madness are backstage talking about Sisters of Sin winning at Worlds End. Thekla said Kris Statlander spat in her friends face at the PPV and loved it. She’s not buying Statlander’s cosmic act and tells them to let her take her place, they’ll make the title real toxic.

**********

Ricochet (w/G.O.A.) vs. Jungle Jack Perry (w/Luchasaurus) for the AEW National Title

(While I liked the match, the constant interference hampered this and didn’t let it reach another gear. The post-match is the bigger story, as, similar to Worlds End, Luchasaurus didn’t do much of anything and I had figured he was legit injured prior to the show. This felt like an angle to write him off for a while, which is unfortunate, as it doesn’t feel like Jurassic Express have been back as a team all that long. It does look like Perry might be riding solo again.)

Toa Liona & Luchasaurus had an early face-off ringside, as a fast series opened things in the ring, with Ricochet pulling Perry down by his hair. Perry tried to return the favor, but it obviously didn’t work due to the baldness, so Perry pulled on the beard, sent Ricochet outside and connected on a dive. Bishop Kaun tripped up Perry, allowing Luchasuaurus to go at him but Liona attacked from behind. The distraction gave Ricochet a chance to send Perry outside and hit a dive, posing with The Demand heading to break.

Ricochet controlled during commercial, but Perry connected on a flying elbow. We’re told Liona attacked Luchasaurus and took him backstage, similar to what happened during Zero Hour Worlds End last weekend. Perry vaulted over Ricochet in the corner and hit a suplex, leading to a leaping DDT attempt, which was countered into the Northern Lights and suplex into a standing Shooting Star for a Ricochet near fall. Ricochet wanted Vertigo, Perry floated over, O’Connor Roll got two, series of switches led to the Perry comeback lariat for a close near fall of his own. Perry signaled for the Sacrifice Knee, but Ricochet rolled to the apron, hanging Perry up on the top. Ricochet was backdropped to the floor, giving Perry a chance to hit a baseball slide cazadora bulldog. Perry hopped a charging Kaun, threw a thrust kick, but the delay allowed Ricochet to crotch Perry in the corner. Perry fought free, Ricochet backflipped out, but ate a diving Perry DDT for two. Perry signaled for the Sacrifice Knee, Ricochet took the ref, allowing Kaun to trip up Perry, giving Ricochet a chance to hit the Spirit Gun for the win.

Post-match, Liona carried Luchasaurus back out to the stage and continuously slammed a guard rail onto him. Placing it over his arm, Kaun delivered repeated chair shots to it, as Ricochet hit another Spirit Gun on Perry as The Demand stood over Luchasaurus. Liona & Kaun laid out security guards, slamming them onto the railing and Luchasaurus’ arm.

Match Result: Ricochet defeated Jungle Jack Perry to retain the AEW National Title

-Death Riders are backstage and Moxley said Shelton Benjamin and the people who hurt people, you don’t have to come out to look at him like he feels some kind of way, he’s easy to find. They’re setting the standard, masters of the craft, as Wheeler Yuta said Darby Allin had revisionist history, as if he wants to get to PAC, you go through him. Garcia said it doesn’t matter who you are, it’s Death Riders vs. The World in 2026.

-Harley Cameron is helping Willow Nightingale train and said this is the last match of 2025. Nightingale said it’s been 584 days since she lost the TBS Title and her opportunity to regain her title is finally here, she’s ending the year with a bang.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with MJF, asking what he feels to have all these contenders locked in on his AEW World Title. MJF said Paquette is silly, he’s about to make his first title reign look short in comparison. Brodido walks in and Brody King says Bandido will make that Triple B, Bandido’s Big Belt. They do their handshake and leave, which MJF said was cute and asked what Paquette was smiling about?

Mercedes Mone vs. AEW Women’s Tag Team Champion Willow Nightingale for the TBS Title

(Hell of a match to close the year for AEW, as I thought this turned into a PPV caliber main event. The downfall of Mone continues, as the crowd went absolutely nuts for a new champ and also the final shot of the female champs in the company celebrating was a nice touch to cap off 2025.)

Not as many extras holding up Mone’s titles as they once did, as commentary talk about how furious Mone has been due to recent losses. Mone pie-faces Nightingale pre-match, as Justin Roberts does big fight introductions. Bell sounds and Mone immediately hit a series of low dropkicks, sending Nightingale outside, smashing her into the LED board, forcing it to go out. Mone opted for her CEO dance and that delay allowed Nightingale to dodge a Meteora into the barricade and launched Mone into the railing with a Pounce and two count back inside.

Both ladies trade roll-ups until Mone tried Mone Maker, but Nightingale countered into a backslide for two, maintained wrist control, took Mone’s head off with a lariat for another near fall. Mone tried to fight back, missed cazadora, floated over, sending Nightingale to the corner and flipping off all the fans chanting her opponent’s name. Nightingale cartwheeled out of the corner, hit an overhand chop and shotgun dropkick off the middle rope. Big time cannonball in the corner, as Mone rolled outside, where Nightingale met her with another cannonball off the apron. Mone was returned to the ring, where she quickly dropkicked Nightingale’s legs out on the apron and followed with a Meteroa against the steps, controlling the action into commercial.

Back from break, Nightingale carried Mone out of the corner into a press slam into the double down. Series of lariats ramped up by Nightingale, who tried a Spinebuster, Mone escaped, charged, only to be launched with another Pounce. Death Valley Driver connected, but Mone kicked out at two. Backstabber staggers Nightingale, as Mone again charged, but ran into a Doctor Bomb by Nightingale, but Mone got the foot on the ropes. Nightingale went up top, but missed a big moonsault, giving Mone a chance to try a Frog Splash, but Nightingale got her knees up. They go to the apron, where Nightingale connected with a DVD right on the edge of the ring. Nightingale thew a lifeless Mone into the ring, where Mone again rolled to the outside. Nightingale went for another cannonball from the apron, only this time, no one was home and Nightingale went splat.

Mone hit two of the Three Amigos on the floor, all while ref Aubrey was counting, as Nightingale fought off a third, slamming Mone into the apron, breaking the count and clearing the commentary table. Nightingale brought Mone up onto it, as Mone begged off, as Nightingale wanted a Doctor Bomb, Mone got free and hit a third suplex on the table, which didn’t break. Aubrey puts the count on both, as Nightingale just broke it at nine. Both trade pin attempts, Anvil elbows from Mone, who switches to the Statement Maker. Nightingale powers to her feet, Mone tries Mone Maker, but is smashed into the corner repeatedly. Nightingale tried a Doctor Bomb, Mone tried Mone Maker, Nightingale got a roll-up for a close two. Both ladies up, Mone with a jackknife pin, Nightingale rolled through, hit the Doctor Bomb in the middle of the ring and got the win and the title.

Post-match, purple confetti pours down, as Harley Cameron runs out to celebrate, leaving Mone stunned. Orange Cassidy & JetSpeed come down and give Nightingale hugs, until Kris Statlander is shown in the ring. Crowd chant Hug It Out, as they hug and the camera zooms out, with Excalibur saying you’ve got to give the people what they want. Cassidy & JetSpeed roll outside, leading Nightingale, Statlander & Cameron celebrating in the ring to close 2025 for AEW.

Mercedes Mone issues callout for AEW New Year’s Smash Dynamite

The first match appears set for this Wednesday’s New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Dynamite and it involves both two champions and a grudge.

During Saturday’s Worlds End pay-per-view, Mone and Athena failed to dethrone AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron. The end came when Mone was pinned by Nightingale on a counter roll-up after attempting a Mone Maker.

In a backstage interview later in the show, Mone destroyed her locker room in frustration before talking to interviewer Lexy Nair. Mone bristled at the question of having a bad 2025 after the last few months and then called out Nightingale for Wednesday in Omaha, Nebraska, saying, “…I’m going to beat your f**king ass.”

It was confirmed later that the TBS title will be on the line.

The two have had an interesting past with Nightingale besting Mone in the May 2023 finals for the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s title when Mone suffered a leg injury. Mone then ended Nightingale’s first-ever TBS title run at May 2024’s Double or Nothing and hasn’t lost the belt since.

Mercedes Mone recalls advice cousin Snoop Dogg gave to her

In the recent edition of her Mone Mag newsletter, Mercedes Mone recalled a vital piece of advice she once received from her cousin Snoop Dogg.

Writing in her Mone Mag’s latest edition, Mone reflected on Dogg’s advice for her on breaking records after she expressed her thoughts on breaking Ultimo Dragon’s record.

“And I remember something that Snoop Dogg said to me: you can’t go back and watch your games because you have to get ready for your next one. You always have to be ready. You have to keep on going. There’s no time to watch the highlight reels of my life because I’m busy trying to make more.”

Holding 13 championships simultaneously a few weeks ago, after a few recent losses, Mone is now down to holding nine belts across AEW, CMLL, RevPro, ROH, and several other promotions.

Mercedes Mone recalls pitching the idea of a women’s tag-team championship to Vince McMahon

In the same edition of her Mone Mag, she recalled a past incident where she and Bayley pitched the idea of a Women’s tag-team title.

“Launching the belts at AEW reminds me of Bayley and I fighting for the WWE to create Women’s tag team titles. We were having multiple women’s matches every single week and yet we were not fighting for anything. There was no story. We were just having matches but you need titles in order to fight for something,” she wrote.

“For a year, every single week, Bayley and I knocked and waited at Vince’s door. It’s giving me goosebumps remembering it, but the first time we brought it up, we were just like, ‘Vince, we are legit having these multiple women’s matches every week. Don’t you think the women need to fight for something? There are men’s tag, men matches every single week. We can’t just be a one-woman storyline for the Raw Women’s title or the SmackDown Women’s title. Just having two girls with titles is limiting us when you have so many women in the back.’ To me, the matches didn’t make any sense or mean anything. It took Vince a whole year, but finally he said yes.”

Mone and Athena are now scheduled to challenge Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale for the AEW Women’s Tag-Team Championships at Worlds End 2025.

Mercedes Mone responds to critics over holding multiple championships

Mercedes Moné has addressed criticism surrounding her dominance and simultaneous reign as a multiple-time champion across several wrestling promotions. The AEW star, who currently holds nine championships, responded to critics in the recent edition of her Moné Mag.

“Why would I acknowledge the critics? The goal is shown. It’s been shown. For the people that can’t see it, it’s on them.”

Since her AEW debut last year, Mercedes Mone has been on a rampage and has won multiple championships together. Before a couple of losses in December, she, in her prime, held nearly 13 championships together across AEW, ROH, RevPro, CMLL, and more.

Mercedes Mone gets honest about her 2025 opponents

Despite her winning championships all over the world, she has also helped promote indie promotions, which were unheard of or under the radar before her appearances. Further writing in her Mone Mag, she also shared her thoughts on some of the 2025 opponents that stood out to her.

“One of my favorite discoveries was Aliss Link from Denmark. Her style is unlike anything I’ve experienced—creative, sharp, and unpredictable,” she wrote. “One of my favorite independent matches of the year came against her, and trust me when I say: Aliss Link is someone you need to keep your eyes on.”

Kanji from the UK, wrestling for RevPro, twisted me into shapes I didn’t even know my body could bend into. She proudly calls herself the female Zack Sabre Jr., and for good reason. Wrestling her felt like a high-level chess match—one I can’t wait to play again.

“Then there’s Emersyn Jayne from Scotland. Don’t let appearances fool you. Her intensity, agility, and ferocity were unreal. She represented her country with pride, holding the Discovery Pro Championship for over 1,000 days. But as the CEO of women’s wrestling, I study my opponents like no other— and I always find a way to win.”

Mone is now scheduled to face Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale at Worlds End for the AEW Women’s Tag-Team Championship alongside her partner, Athena.

Alex Windsor defeats Mercedes Mone for RevPro Women’s title on AEW Collision

Alex Windsor is the new RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Champion after defeating Mercedes Mone for the title on Saturday’s Holiday Bash edition of AEW Collision.

Mone’s reign with the title ends just under a year after she won it from Mina Shirakawa at January’s Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome. She successfully defended the championship four times during her reign against Kanji, Safire Reed, Emersyn Jayne, and Rhio.

She is also coming off dropping the Ring of Honor Women’s Television title back to former champion Red Velvet at this month’s ROH Final Battle.

Windsor begins her second reign with the championship. Her first reign lasted 769 days, beginning when she defeated Gisele Shaw for the title on November 7, 2021, and ending when she lost it to Dani Luna on December 16, 2023. According to Cagematch, Windsor successfully defended the title 13 times during that reign.

Mone has expressed her frustrations online following the loss:

**********

Jack Perry (0) vs. Mike Bailey (6) in a C2 Gold League Match

The fans in Manchester loved Jack Perry, and they also loved sportsmanship as they sung Perry’s theme and cheered the handshake between the two babyfaces. Keeping up with Mike Bailey is hard, but Perry did so in the early portion, but Perry showed signs of his ankle hurting, referencing his injury he received against Kazuchika Okada. Perry dodged a handspring attack from Bailey, but Bailey immediately hit a series of kicks. Perry hit the ropes, looking to hit a dive on Bailey, but Bailey hopped up onto the top rope as Perry slid under the rope sand hit a moonsault. Perry dumped Bailey onto the stairs to leave him laying as they went to commercial break.

When they came back, Bailey and Perry were brawling in the ring, and Bailey missed his moonsault into double knees on the apron, allowing Perry to hit a Canadian Destroyer on the apron. Perry missed a double stomp in the ring, landing on his bad ankle. Bailey went for a kick in the corner in response, but Perry dodged and hit a German suplex for a 2-count. Perry was unable to bridge properly due to his ankle. Perry charged Bailey, but Bailey hit a thrust kick and went for the Flamingo Driver, but Perry escaped and they started exchanging holds until Perry locked on the snare trap, but Bailey made the ropes.

Bailey countered another snare trap attempt into a cradle, but Perry kicked out. Bailey hit a forearm and a hard kick before going for the moonsault into the double knees on Perry, but Perry got his legs up, and Bailey took the full impact on his knees. Bailey hit a spinning kick but missed an Ultima Weapon and Perry hit an Olympic slam for the win.

Result: Jack Perry (3) defeated Mike Bailey (6)

Really solid match here as Mike Bailey continues to be great and Jack Perry is really coming into his own as a babyface now.

Eddie Kingston vs. Nathan Cruz (w/ The Grizzled Young Veterans)

GYV attacked Kingston before the match started, sending him back into the ring, allowing Cruz to hit a slingshot back suplex on Kingston to open the match attacking. Kingston fired up and hit a lariat and then the continual chops in the corner before hitting a neckbreaker. GYV tried to distract Kingston again, but it did not last long as Kingston hit an exploder and a DDT on Cruz for the pinfall victory, ending the match almost as quickly as it started.

Result: Eddie Kingston defeated Nathan Cruz

Kingston was very fired up in this match, and he looked great. Cruz bumped well for him, and has a good look. I remember seeing him years ago when I watched the early PROGRESS wrestling shows, and he seems to fit well with AEW. A group with him and GYV would be a trio I could get behind.

Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Alex Windsor for the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship

Windsor and Mone wasted no time at all in this match, wrestling aggressively, countering attacks from each other, including Windsor rolling through a meteora on the apron into a sharpshooter on the apron. Windsor. Back in the ring, Mercedes hit a backstabber and a kick to the head on Windsor just before going to an ad break.

Mone was hitting the three amigos when they came back to break, but before the third amigo, Windsor sent Mercedes back to the corner. Mercedes tried to hit something off the middle ropes, but Mercedes hit a forearm. Mercedes and Windsor exchanged a few more moves before Mercedes locked on a crossface. Windsor fought out, but Mercedes transitioned that into a crucifix bomb and hit a meteora for a 2-count.

Windsor and Mone fought on the middle rope until Windsor hit a blue thunder bomb off the middle rope into the ring for a 2-count. Mone went for a statement maker, but after a shuffle, Windsor locked Mercedes Mone into a crucifix and scored a pinfall, as Mone lost two of her belts that make up the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship.

Result: Alex Windsor defeated Mercedes Mone

These two women wrestled a a frantic pace throughout this match. It made it a bit hard to follow given the pace, but they never really slowed down the entire match. Very action packed, and with a very big loss for Mone here. Windsor’s son came into the ring to celebrate with his mom in a very sweet moment.

–A video recap aired of the contract signing for the world title match at AEW World’s End, including MJF returning and how he was inserting himself into the title match to reclaim the world title he lost at World’s End two years ago.

Kevin Knight (3) vs. Kazuchika Okada (6) in a C2 Gold League Match

This match is a very interesting one to me, as both Okada and Knight are incredible athletes, with similar leaping abilities. Knight flipped Okada off, leading to Okada smiling and both men starting to brawl on the floor with forearms. Knight, at least early on, did not look out of place against Okada. He may be young and still improving, but he is really coming into his own as a worker, and matches with guys like Okada are only going to make him better.

Okada and Knight continued the forearm battle in the middle of the ring, ending with Okada hitting a hard forearm. Okada went for the Rainmaker, and Knight jumped over the arm of Okada to dodge it. Okada baited Knight into a spring board from the opposite side of the ring, but didn’t jump, forcing Knight to jump into the middle of an empty ring. Okada cackled on the apron, but was soon knocked off by Knight, who then hit a springboard lariat to the outside on Okada that sent him crashing into the announcers table.

When they came back from the break Okada had Knight in a rear chinlock. Knight hit a crossbody on Okada from the middle ropes, and Okada took it, but rolled Knight off his body, forcing a battle back on their feet. Knight hit a splash in the corner, a bodyslam, and a standing splash for a 2-count on Okada. As Knight went for a springboard into the ring Okada shoved the referee into the ropes to trip him, and Okada hit a neckbreaker across his knee before hitting an elbow drop off the top rope. Okada went for the Rainmaker, but Knight countered and hit a sky high powerbomb for a 2-count.

Knight went for the UFO splash, but Okada got his knees up, and Knight crashed to the mat. Okada went for a tombstone, but Knight countered out of it. Okada then did a backslide instead, but flipped Knight onto his feet with it and hit a Rainmaker. Okada missed a Rainmaker attempt, but Okada hit the dropkick as Knight came off the ropes. Knight got up and hit a dropkick of his own before hitting a ripcord DDT and a springboard lariat. Knight went for the coast to coast dropkick on Okada, but as Knight flew into the air Okada stood up and hit a dropkick that dropped Knight. That was incredible. Okada went for the Rainmaker and Knight countered it again, but Okada responded with a wheelbarrow suplex. Okada held onto Knight and tried for the Rainmaker again, but Knight cradled Okada and scored the flash pinfall!

Result: Kevin Knight (6) defeated Kazuchika Okada (6)

This was a fantastic match. Okada is on fire in this tournament this year, putting on some of the best matches he has had in AEW, and he seems intent on making everyone he works with look like a million bucks. Excellent main event match between Okada and Knight, with the biggest win of Knight’s career as he beat a huge main event star.

Final Thoughts

This was one of the easiest hours of wrestling television to watch that I have seen in a very long time. There was zero wasted time on this show, the crowd was still hot despite taping after Dynamite, and we had some major matches in the C2 as there are 5 people tied for first in the Gold League. I love the round robin format, and while this is shorter than the G1 that inspired it, it captures all the fun of the G1 with all the different possibilities about who is winning each league. These kind of tournaments, when booked right, are the most fun stories to follow as a wrestling fan, as every match matters, and everyone, even people eliminated, can play spoiler. Excellent AEW Collision today.
