Jade Cargill, Shayna Baszler had WWE backstage conflict before Cargill’s injury

Jade Cargill is said to have rubbed some people the wrong way backstage in WWE.

Our own Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cargill and Shayna Baszler were involved in a backstage confrontation prior to Cargill’s injury last November. Baszler was reportedly ready to fight Cargill until management stepped in to defuse the situation.

Meltzer wrote:

“There was a confrontation that took place a few months ago before the Cargill injury involving Cargill and Baszler. It’s been confirmed by a half dozen people that it happened but nobody went into details past Cargill had rubbed enough people in the Raw women’s division the wrong way and Baszler was wanting to fight her until management found out and calmed the situation down.”

Meltzer continued:

“The time frame was when they were doing Baszler & Stark vs. Belair & Cargill matches. I don’t know what in particular happened other than it wasn’t just one thing and the belief is that some of this stemmed from inside the ring in those matches and some didn’t. Although one woman star said they believed the tension within the SmackDown side was worse than the Raw side.”

The last time Cargill and Baszler were in the ring together was the battle royal on the November 3 episode of Raw in Saudi Arabia. They also had several matches last summer as Cargill and Bianca Belair feuded with the Pure Vision Collective, including a triple threat match with The Unholy Union at Clash at the Castle.

Following her return at WWE Elimination Chamber, Cargill posted a video where she stated, “There are wolves in the shape of women all around me.” Chelsea Green seemingly responded on social media after, writing, “Imagine calling your coworkers ‘wolves’ while demanding respect, and I’m just over here like:”

Jade Cargill’s attacker revealed on WWE SmackDown

After months of speculation, we now know who attacked Jade Cargill.

Bianca Belair called out Naomi on SmackDown, wanting to know if she was behind Cargill getting attacked late last year. Naomi came out but tried talking herself out of the situation, saying they should be focused on getting their tag team titles back. Belair said she wanted an answer. After Naomi tried avoiding the subject again, Belair asked her point blank if she was behind the attack, wanting a yes or no answer. Naomi eventually admitted that yes, she was the one that sent Cargill through a car windshield.

A tearful Belair didn’t want to hear any excuses from Naomi, who said she did it for Belair, and started to leave the ring. Right after Naomi called Belair an “ungrateful b****”, Jade Cargill got out of a car backstage and headed to the ring, continuing her attack on Naomi and eventually laid her out with Jaded.

Cargill, who had been out of action since November due to injury, made her return at Saturday’s Elimination Chamber. Instead of attacking Liv Morgan, who had been blamed for the attack, Cargill instead went after Naomi, who had to be pulled from starting the women’s Elimination Chamber as a result of Cargill’s attack.

Jade Cargill says she’s ‘played by the rules long enough’

Following her WWE return on Saturday at Elimination Chamber, Jade Cargill says she’s done playing by the rules.

Cargill attacked Naomi at the start of the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. She had been absent from WWE programming since November 2024, when a mystery attacker took her out on SmackDown. The angle was used to cover for a legitimate injury, though the nature of the injury has never been disclosed.

On Sunday, Cargill posted a video to social media:

She says in the video:

“There are wolves in the shape of women all around me. I can see the way they look into my eyes. I am not them, and they are not me. And I weathered every storm that was meant to break me. You can’t help but to talk about me. I saw the look in your eyes as soon as I walked in the door, mapping out how to send me to my demise. My presence makes you question yourself. I’ve let others block my destiny for legacy. People hiding their insecurities behind fake smiles and hugs, trying to knock me for simply being me. Looking like God carved me out of marble. They wanted me to hide that I’m blessed. They demanded proof I belong as if my scars weren’t enough. Losing my mother while being a mother, carrying the weight of it all while still thriving. You don’t have to like me, but you will respect me. I’m here because I’ve earned it. Every scar, every loss, every step. I will not shrink myself for anyone. Don’t mistake my grace for weakness. I’ve played by the rules long enough. Now is time for mine. I am one of one. I am that bitch.”

Cargill hasn’t wrestled since the November 11 edition of WWE Raw, when she and Bianca Belair successfully defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. On the November 22 SmackDown, she was shown lying on the smashed windshield of a car in a backstage segment. She was later replaced in the Women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series by Bayley.

Jade Cargill returns at WWE Elimination Chamber, mystery attacker revealed

Jade Cargill is back — and it looks like the identity of her attacker has been revealed.

Before returning tonight, Cargill had been away from WWE programming since being taken out by a mystery attacker in November 2024. She returned at the start of Elimination Chamber with revenge on her mind. As Liv Morgan and Naomi were about to begin the women’s Elimination Chamber match, Cargill’s music hit and she made her way down to the ring. WWE teased that she was going to go after Morgan, but Cargill beat down Naomi instead.

The indication given was that Naomi is turning heel and was Cargill’s mystery attacker. Cargill’s beatdown included kicking Naomi into a Chamber pod and slamming the cage door into her head. Naomi was then stretchered out and removed from the Elimination Chamber match.

From her Chamber pod, Bianca Belair was emotionally distraught watching the attack. Belair & Cargill were the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time Cargill was taken out last November. In Cargill’s place, Naomi teamed with Belair as her new partner. They dropped the belts to Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez recently.

Cargill did have a legitimate injury when she was temporarily written off WWE TV last November but is now cleared to compete.

Naomi replacing Jade Cargill as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion

Naomi has replaced Jade Cargill as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Bianca Belair.

In a backstage segment on Friday’s WWE SmackDown, GM Nick Aldis told Belair that he was forcing her to relinquish the Women’s Tag Team titles as the investigation into who attacked Cargill in a backstage angle continues.

Naomi offered to step in for Cargill, and Aldis relented under the condition that the duo defend the Tag titles on next week’s SmackDown.

Later in the show, Belair and Naomi defending the Women’s Tag Team titles against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae was announced for next week’s SmackDown.

The Cargill injury angle took place on the November 22 SmackDown, with the star shown laying on the hood of a car.

The most recent Women’s Tag Team title defense came on the November 11 edition of WWE Raw, with Belair and Cargill retaining over Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez in that contest.

Jade Cargill out of action with injury

Jade Cargill is out of action.

Dave Metlzer is reporting that Cargill being written out of storylines on SmackDown was to cover for an actual injury. It isn’t known how severe the injury is.

“We did get confirmation that Cargill is injured but the severity wasn’t known internally past those involved in creative were told it will be a minimum of three months out, maybe longer, which is why they released the story of such severe injuries,” Meltzer wrote in the Sunday Daily Update.

Friday’s show in Salt Lake City saw Cargill being shown unconscious after she was seemingly thrown into a windshield backstage. WWE later posted a social media update announcing that Cargill had suffered a number of injuries, including “deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, a sprained MCL in her right knee, a tibial plateau bone bruise of her right knee, and facial lacerations.”

Cargill was originally set to be part of the Women’s WarGames match set for Survivor Series this weekend. She will instead be replaced ahead of the match.

WWE issues storyline injury update on Jade Cargill

There is no timetable for Jade Cargill’s return, as an angle on SmackDown has written her off WWE programming for the foreseeable future.

Cargill was seen lying unconscious on the hood of a smashed-in car on Friday’s show. It was left unclear as to who attacked her.

WWE issued a storyline injury update for Cargill on Saturday, stating she is dealing with “deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, a sprained MCL in her right knee, a tibial plateau bone bruise of her right knee, and facial lacerations” as a result of the attack.

WWE.com wrote:

“After suffering a mysterious attack on SmackDown, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Jade Cargill has been diagnosed with numerous injuries including deep lumbar paraspinal muscle contusions, a bruised kidney, a sprained MCL in her right knee, a tibial plateau bone bruise of her right knee, and facial lacerations. There is no timetable for her return at this time. Make sure to follow all WWE social media platforms as this story develops.”

During the triple-threat Women’s United States Championship tournament on SmackDown, Cargill’s partner, Bianca Belair, was distracted by footage of Cargill in the back being shown on the big screen. She left the match, allowing Chelsea Green to get the pin on Blair Davenport and advance in the tournament.

Jade Cargill signs with Paradigm Talent Agency’s Sports Group

WWE star Jade Cargill has joined up with The Sports Group, a newly created division of Paradigm Talent Agency.

Variety revealed on Wednesday that Cargill has signed with The Sports Group for representation in all areas. The talent agency has a growing list of WWE clients that also includes Damian Priest, Tiffany Stratton, CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Liv Morgan.

In their announcement, Paradigm called Cargill a “living, breathing superhero.”

Paradigm is one of the top talent agencies in Hollywood, ranking behind WME (William Morris Endeavor), CAA (Creative Artists Agency), and UTA (United Talent Agency). Their Sports Group division has a specialized team of agents working to represent “a roster of elite athletes and iconic teams.”

Cargill is a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Bianca Belair. They currently hold the belts and have been champions since August.

Before signing with WWE in September 2023, Cargill made her pro wrestling debut for AEW and had a dominant reign as TBS Champion while with the promotion.

Cargill will be part of the women’s WarGames match at Survivor Series on November 30. The match is pitting Cargill, Belair, Naomi, IYO SKY & Rhea Ripley against Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Stratton & Candice LeRae.
