New ROH Tag Team Champions crowned at Best in the World

Chris Dickinson and Homicide captured the ROH World Tag Team titles on tonight’s Best in the World pay-per-view event.

Dickinson and Homicide defeated Jonathan Gresham and Rhett Titus in a Fight Without Honor match, with many weapons being used throughout the match. Homicide picked up the win for his team after pinning Gresham, who had already wrestled once on the show, following the cop killer vertebreaker.

The match was originally supposed to be Tracy Williams and Titus defending the titles. However, the storyline was that Williams was unable to be cleared by the Maryland State Athletic Commission. Jay Lethal was named as Williams’ replacement, but was taken out of the match by the state athletic commission after taking two Ganso bombs from Brody King earlier in the night.

The ROH TV title also changed hands on tonight’s show, with Dragon Lee defeating Tony Deppen to regain the title. Jonathan Gresham successfully defended the Pure title earlier in the show against Mike Bennett.

Tag Team title Fight Without Honor added to ROH Best in the World

The ROH Tag Team titles will be on the line in a “Fight Without Honor” at Best in the World.

ROH Tag Team Champions The Foundation (Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus) will defend their titles against Violence Unlimited (Homicide & Chris Dickinson) at Best in the World. The pay-per-view is taking place at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland this Sunday.

The announcement of the Tag Team title match was made on Tuesday’s edition of ROH Week By Week. A Fight Without Honor is an anything goes match that must have a winner.

The Foundation’s Jay Lethal is also facing Violence Unlimited’s Brody King in a singles match at Best in the World.

ROH has also announced that The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) will be in action against PJ Black & Brian Johnson at Best in the World. Plus, there will be a new edition of Matt Taven’s “Trending With Taven” interview show on the PPV. Taven is feuding with Vincent Marseglia and Vincent’s The Righteous stable.

Best in the World will be the first ROH event with fans in attendance since February 2020. Here’s the updated card for the show:

  • ROH World Champion Rush defends against Bandido
  • ROH Television Champion Tony Deppen defends against Dragon Lee
  • ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham defends against Mike Bennett
  • Fight Without Honor: ROH Tag Team Champions The Foundation (Tracy Williams & Rhett Titus) defend against Violence Unlimited (Homicide & Chris Dickinson)
  • Brody King vs. Jay Lethal
  • EC3 vs. Flip Gordon
  • Last Man Standing match: Josh Woods vs. Silas Young
  • ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions (Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun) defend against Dalton Castle, Eli Isom & Dak Draper

  • Demonic Flamita vs. Rey Horus (Best in the World Hour One)
  • PCO & Danhausen vs. The Bouncers (Beer City Bruiser & Brawler Milonas) (Best in the World Hour One)

Best in the World Hour One will air for free starting at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday. It will be available on platforms including HonorClub, YouTube, and PPV channels carrying Best in the World. The Best in the World main card will then begin on HonorClub and PPV starting at 8 p.m. Eastern.

New faction debuts at ROH 19th Anniversary

Homicide and Chris Dickinson appeared at the end of tonight’s ROH 19th Anniversary show, forming a stable with Brody King and Tony Deppen.

The angle started after Rush, who successfully defended the ROH World Championship, and the rest of La Faccion Ingobernable (Bestia del Ring and Kenny King), attacked Jay Lethal. The Foundation (Rhett Titus, Tracey Williams, Jonathan Gresham) came in for the save, but was overwhelmed by Rush and his stable. Brody’s new stable then came in and cleared the ring, eventually taking out both stables. All four men posed with one another to close out the show, making it clear they were a new stable in the company.

Brody King later wrote on Twitter: “Is it just me or is there something about @IanRiccaboni and @azucarRoc screaming “ COP KILLER “ that’ll make the hair on your arms stand up? The past, The present, THE FUTURE. Change is here. VLNCE UNLTD IS HERE. @ringofhonor #ROH19”

Homicide has been associated with Ring of Honor since the first show in 2002, and is a former ROH World Champion. He hasn’t appeared for the promotion since 2014, but was scheduled to appear at ROH’s Past vs. Present event last March before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Chris Dickinson has appeared on NJPW Strong in the last year and is also a regular for Game Changer Wrestling, most notably appearing on their Bloodsport events.

Homicide vs. Tom Lawlor announced for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport

A new match has been added to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport event that takes place next month.

Homicide will take on Filthy Tom Lawlor. Barnett made the announcement on his Twitter account.

The card has been taking shape in recent days. AEW World champion Jon Moxley has been confirmed for the event, as he will take on Chris Dickinson. Moxley had previously been signed to face Josh Barnett twice, but was unable to both times, first due to MRSA in his elbow and second due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matches announced for the show include Simon Grimm vs. Matt Makowski and Erik Hammer vs. Kal Jack. Other wrestlers slated to appear on the card include Josh Alexander, Calvin Tankman, Lindsay Snow, Killer Kelly, Alexander James, Davey Boy Smith Jr., and Allysin Kay.

The event will take place on October 11 at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is a part of GCW’s The Collective series of shows.

MLW Underground results & video: Christopher Daniels vs. Homicide

The Big Takeaways:

This week’s retro MLW Underground featured Christopher Daniels vs. Homicide in his promotional debut and a tag team match of debutants as EZ Money and Julio Dinero took on Nosawa and Masada.

Show Review:

We opened with the closing moments of last week’s MLW World Heavyweight title match between Kojima and Johnny Smith including the stuff we didn’t see during the commercial break like when Smith came off the top with a missile dropkick but Kojima roared up from the aerial attack and forearmed Smith to the ground.

Joey Styles then welcomed us to his week’s Underground by letting us know Hybrid Hell was the most-attended MLW show to date and began to hype the next TV taping back at Taboo in Orlando, Florida.

Hot Commodity (EZ Money and Julio Dinero) defeated Nosawa and Masada (9:37 aired)

Hot Commodity jumped their Japanese opponents as Styles told us Nosawa and Masada were a pair of the top junior heavyweights in CMLL (at the time). Commodity caught Masada off a dive but Nosawa took them all out with a baseball slide into his partner. Nosawa was giving everyone the middle finger in the early going, including the fans at ringside, and he enjoyed it so much that he didn’t notice Money tagging in and taking a cheap shot while his back was turned.

Masada hit a nice hurricanrana on Money as Nosawa clearly told the referee in English to “f*ck off” when he didn’t count the three for his team. Money fought back and locked in a reverse Boston Crab and moved into a pendulum as Dinero came in and they hit a nice elbow off the top/side slam combination. A corkscrew brainbuster followed for a close two count and a nice spin kick caught Masada right on the jaw. Dinero then busted out a pump handle fireman’s carry slam as they really started to wear down Masada.

Money hit a standing backflip splash on Masada for a two count as we went to a commercial. Nothing much changed after the break as Hot Commodity were still in control. Money went to the top but took too long. Masada caught him with a low blow as he landed and hit a German suplex.

Nosawa got the hot tag and went to work kicking and striking Hot Commodity. He came off the top with a frog splash on Money before they both powerbombed the larger Dinero. Masada got caught in a hurricanrana attempt and was powerbombed on the floor while Nosawa hit Dinero with a Michinoku driver inside the ring. But, Dinero took down Nosawa seconds later and he and Money hit a double team Ocean Cyclone suplex to pick up the win.

– Styles reviewed the feuds between Jerry Lynn and Paul London and Raven and CM Punk before hyping up the power of Mike Awesome by showing him power bombing Tanaka out of the ring and out of their match as he was not able to continue. We then heard from Tanaka as he cut a promo in Japanese with no subtitles with Styles explaining it was in response to Awesome and his power bomb.

– Styles caught us up with the Samoan Island Tribe-Los Maximos feud and listed off the Samoan family lineage. We heard from the Maximos as they were at the same spot the Samoans jumped them a few weeks ago. They said if they thought they got all of them, they only got a small piece and should expect the unexpected.

– Next up for Styles was the Extreme Horsemen-Dusty Rhodes/Steve Williams/Terry Funk feud where he told us the legends will be out for revenge.

– Before the main event, we saw a nice video package for Satoshi Kojima and his title win that kickstarted Kojimania with clips from his defense against Mitsuya Nagai.

– Styles wrapped by talking about the pairing of Francine and Michael Shane before we cut to a Simply Luscious promo where someone has done her wrong and Styles cant wait to find out who.

Homicide defeated Christopher Daniels (w/ Jerry Lynn) (4:22 aired)

This was a shame we saw so little of it. Homicide hit an amazing cannonball dive through the ropes before booting Daniels in the face in the corner. Lynn got involved but was knocked off the apron, but this was enough of a distraction for Daniels who took Homicide down face-first as we went to a break.

After the break, Daniels was still in control. Homicide had a brief hope spot by landing on his feet off a monkey flip and hitting a crossbody. Daniels smoothly took him down again with a quick urinage to regain his control. Homicide fought back with a suplex, a clothesline, a charge in the corner, and a hurricanrana off the top rope. He missed a diving headbutt and ate a urinage and a triple jump moonsault but he still kicked out at two.

Daniels went for Angel’s Wings but Homicide reversed to the Cop Killa but Daniels wriggled out of it. Daniels collided with Lynn on the apron and got a two count with a schoolboy. Homicide then hit a low blow while they fought for leverage in a backslide and then kicked Daniels in the head with the Mafia Kick to pick up the win.

Lynn and Daniels got their revenge by double-teaming Homicide as Underground went off the air.

Homicide announced for Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport

In what feels like a fitting addition to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport, Homicide was announced as joining the card on Friday.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11th as part of GCW’s rescheduled The Collective weekend in Indianapolis, IN, originally slated for the canceled WrestleMania weekend in Tampa, Florida.

The 43-year-old has been in the game since 1993 and is a former Ring of Honor World Champion and Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion and X-Division Champion. Of late, he has been working indies and had some dates with the NWA in 2019.

He joins Josh Alexander as the only other announced name for the Bloodsport show thus far.

This will be the third Bloodsport show under the Barnett name after taking it over from Matt Riddle starting in 2019. The shows feature between 7-10 matches in a wrestling ring with no ropes or turnbuckles with the only way to win being either knockout or submission.

MLW Anthology results & video: Low Ki

MLW’s Anthology series hit the streets of New York this week as we saw the Lone Wolf of Brooklyn battling Homicide in his MLW debut from 2004 and then Shane Strickland in 2018 for the MLW world heavyweight title.

Show Review:

Homicide defeated Low Ki (15:24)
Orlando, Florida | January 2004

Low Ki showed his athleticism early on by nipping up before wrapping Homicide up in the ropes with an armbar. They both then had the same idea by going for an arm drag before dodging kicks and coming to a stalemate which got an ovation from the crowd.

Low Ki then hit a crossbody and took control. He hit a nice butterfly suplex and a handspring overhead kick to the back of the head. Homicide fought back after taking one stiff chop too many and flew out the ring with a tope, ending up over the barrier and into the crowd.

Homicide then took over with suplexes of his own and a surfboard submission. He then dropped him on the top of his head with a hurricanrana off the top rope, but Low Ki still kicked out at two. Homicide then missed a diving headbutt and this gave Low Ki the chance to fire up. He hit a barrage of chops, a clothesline, and kicks to the chest followed by soccer kicks to the head. He slipped out of the Cop Killer and hit a rolling kick to the back of Homicide’s head. He then deadlifted Homicide up and planted him on his head with a German suplex, but Homicide got his foot on the rope to break the count.

Homicide caught Low Ki springboarding off the ropes and hit a dragon screw followed by another one off the top rope. He locked on an STF but let go when he thought Low Ki tapped out. Low Ki then slipped out the back and locked in a dragon sleeper but Homicide again got to the ropes.

Low Ki’s leg gave out on a suplex attempt, but he was able to come back with a kick to the head. Homicide fought back with a big clothesline, but Low Ki again slipped out of the Cop Killer but struggled to lock in the dragon sleeper once again. Homicide fought and fought and in the scramble, he was able to roll Low Ki onto his shoulders just long enough for the ref to count to three and get the win.

Jerry Lynn jumped Homicide after the match, but Low Ki saved his teacher from a beatdown which brought out Gary Hart. He instructed both Homicide and Low Ki to make an example of Lynn. They pummelled him and put the boots to him before a fan started badmouthing Hart at ringside, so he instructed Low Ki to confront him. Hart had a mystery man with him and he was (maybe strategically) blocking the camera’s view of Low Ki and the fan, but we did see a drink get smashed and then Low Ki trying to drag the fan over the guardrail.

Chaos ensued as Homicide also got involved. The fan tried to run, but Low Ki chased him and clobbered him with a right hand. A security guard tried to shield the fan but it took road agents and staff (including Court Bauer) to separate them. Hart was still on the mic and got in Bauer’s face, but the MLW founder was blindsided by Homicide and shoved to the ground. Hart sarcastically thanked Bauer for bringing him to MLW and promised to end Terry Funk’s career the next night. The situation looked to be calmed, but as Bauer was getting to his knees, he was hit over the head with a broomstick by Homicide.

— We saw a video package that helped introduce the next match, showing Low Ki in his “professional” persona being hired by Salina de la Renta to take out Shane Strickland.

Low Ki defeated Shane “Swerve” Strickland to win the MLW World Championship (13:19)
Orlando, Florida | July 2018

Ki’s title win came after a stiff and exciting match against the current NXT standout now known as Isaiah “Swerve” Scott. Sitting at ringside, alongside our JJ Williams, was Salina de la Renta who had put a $60,000 bounty on the champion’s head and hired Low Ki to take the title from him.

Strickland tried an armbar very early, but Low Ki was able to get to the ropes. Ki began chopping Strickland and that continued throughout the title fight. Low Ki beat him down early on, looking for the knockout with stiff kicks to the chest and one springboard version that knocked Strickland down.

After Low Ki jawjacked with the crowd in the direction of Strickland’s girlfriend, who was in attendance, the champion fired back but Ki was able to roll through and hit a double foot stomp to stay in full control of the contest.

Strickland was able to dump Low Ki to the outside and then hit a superkick when he tried to re-enter the ring. Strickland then hit a handstand flip over the top rope into a hurricanrana at ringside. Back inside, he hit a big overhead release belly-to-back suplex but only got a two count. Low Ki then took a powerbomb and a catapult, but stopped himself on the middle rope. While Strickland was on his back from delivering the move, Low Ki launched off and hit another double foot stomp, this time from the middle rope.

Strickland had another flurry of kicks, but was favoring his right knee. He eventually hit his rolling cutter, but took his time climbing the ropes due to his injured knee. Low Ki moved and Strickland landed on his feet, but his knee buckled. He then blew a kiss to Strickland’s girlfriend as he lined up a switchblade kick to the back of the head to pick up the pin and the title win to the shock of the crowd.

A video package from back in the early years of MLW ran featuring the trifecta from the first match: Ki, Homicide and the late Gary Hart. Hart was hyping them both up by talking about Ki using his martial arts and Homicide using his street mentality to protect Hart’s legacy.

**********

To close the show, we had this week’s montage of updates featuring current MLW stars. The Blue Meanie was outside the 2300 Arena, Jordan Oliver was drinking in the park, Gino Medina was saying “no comment” to his status with Dynasty, LA Park challenged CONTRA to any match they want, Mance Warner had some words for CONTRA if they think they can tell him what to do, Richard Holliday wants to buy MLW and then sell it for a profit, Savio Vega is going to remove Holliday’s moustache with a sidekick, Tom Lawlor and Dominic Garrini were talking online dating profiles, Konnan called out Josef Samael for ruining the end of the MLW/AAA Super Series, Myron Reed explained what Injustice means to him, the Von Erichs talked about the true meaning of champions, and Alexander Hammerstone wants to win the heavyweight title.

LA Park finished the montage but at the end of his challenge to CONTRA, he was blindsided and attacked by someone just off camera. CONTRA then interrupted the feed and Samael gave a warning to MLW saying that the infidels are rising.

Next week:

MLW Anthology: Satoshi Kojima

Two matches announced for ROH Past vs. Present

ROH has made a pair of match announcements for their Past vs. Present event.

Members of Generation Next and Villain Enterprises are set to face off at Past vs. Present, with Alex Shelley & Matt Sydal teaming against Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon.

Shelley and Sydal weren’t in Generation Next at the same time. Austin Aries, Roderick Strong, and Jack Evans were the other members of the group.

Homicide will also take on Brody King of Villain Enterprises in a singles match at Past vs. Present.

Doug Williams, Allison Danger, Necro Butcher, Delirious, and Grizzly Redwood are other names advertised for Past vs. Present. ROH posted a video on Sunday where Jay Lethal issued a challenge to Xavier for the show. Xavier was the second-ever World Champion in ROH history.

Past vs. Present is taking place at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, March 14. It’s part of ROH’s 18th Anniversary weekend. Sam’s Town Live is also hosting the promotion’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view on March 13, and tickets for both shows went on sale to the general public today.

NWA Power results: Tag Team title main event

David Marquez opened the show with The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. Ricky Morton talked about how he couldn’t wait to see Eddie Kingston and Homicide get their shot at the NWA Tag Team titles later tonight.

Kingston and Homicide came out and Kingston said that with the stamp of approval from The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, there is no way they’re going to lose.

**********

Trevor Murdoch defeated Caleb Konley

Murdoch hit a shoulder block, but Konley hit a monkey flip and a dropkick in response. Konley chopped Murdoch and charged at the corner, but Murdoch caught him and hit a spinebuster. Murdoch elbowed Konley in the face and said, “Come on, sunshine!” before hitting a knee and then two body slams.

Murdoch followed with a third when the fans chanted “One more time.” He went for a corner charge, but Konley hit a double stomp, swept the legs, and then hit a senton for a two count. Konley picked the leg and hit another double stomp for a two count. He went for the lionsault, but Murdoch got his knees up and hit a half nelson slam. Murdoch hit a flying bulldog for the three count.

This was a fun little squash match, and I like the story about Trevor Murdoch being the protege of Harley Race and Dick Murdoch as he tries to earn an NWA contract.

**********

Jim Cornette promised that Kamille would have an interview tonight, and that she would speak for the first time on NWA Power.

**********

Aron Stevens came out and said that he wasn’t even going to talk about what happened last week and that he is done with wrestling and the NWA. The crowd chanted the goodbye song, and Stevens announced that he quit. He promised to accept a movie role and leave forever.

**********

Marti Belle & Thunder Rosa defeated Crystal Rose & Brooklyn Creed

Creed and Belle started the match. Rose and Creed tagged back and forth before Belle tagged out to Thunder Rosa, who just murdered Creed with hard strikes in the corner. Rosa hit a great running dropkick in the corner and then hit a double stomp on Creed for the win as Belle prevented Rose from making the save.

Thunder Rosa has gotten very good. I really think if she got an NWA Women’s Championship shot, it would be a great match.

After the match, Thunder Rosa cut a promo with Belle. Belle translated what Thunder Rosa said about a fire coming to the NWA, a Phoenix coming back, and Allysin Kay having no idea what is coming for her.

**********

Another promo aired for The Question Mark, saying that he was debuting next.

**********

James Storm talked about how he had bigger fish to fry than Colt Cabana, though he was clearly upset about losing the National title to him. Storm promised to go after Nick Aldis next.

Cabana came out and talked about how happy he was to be the NWA National Champion. Cabana said he was representing everyone at home and was more than happy to be their champion. He talked about the first time he lost the title and how hard it was, but he promised to be a fighting champion.

Ricky Starks entered and walked around Cabana as he talked about Storm. Starks said he was sold on gold, indicating that he wanted the National title.

**********

The Question Mark defeated Dan Parker

Parker attacked with forearms, and I noticed that Parker’s tights said “Sorry” on the back of them, as he’s a good Canadian. The Question Mark hit a missile dropkick off the middle rope before hitting a big uppercut for the pinfall.

The crowd loved The Question Mark, but I have no idea if it’s going to actually translate to someone getting over.

**********

A video aired hyping Thunder Rosa’s MMA debut from last week. It promised that the story of her fight would be coming soon.

**********

Eli Drake came out and said he didn’t care if Kamille wasn’t talking. He said, “It isn’t about the why, but the what!”

Drake said that Aldis might be scared that Kamille would say something she shouldn’t — and mainly that there was one person that could take the title from Aldis. The crowd chanted “Question Mark!” and Drake said, “No, you have questions, so let me put an exclamation point: The only person on Kamille’s mind was Eli Drake.”

Thomas Latimer and Royce Isaacs came down and — before walking away — told Drake to keep his mouth shut. Mr. Anderson snuck up behind Drake and yelled in his ear to scare him. He said that Drake was looking for someone with a big mouth, that Anderson was his man, and that all Drake had to do was say his name. Drake looked horribly confused.

**********

A recap aired of Tim Storm and Aldis’ discussion from last week, which was so, so awesome.

**********

Aldis came out and talked about how James Storm thought the NWA was against him. Aldis said that as the Worlds Heavyweight Champion he wanted to remind Storm that the wrestling business didn’t owe him anything, as you had to earn it in the ring.

Aldis said he earned everything he has, and he’s the reason the NWA was where it was. Aldis promised to sit and watch the upcoming Tag Team title match to make sure there would be no interference.

**********

NWA Tag Team Champions The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs) defeated Eddie Kingston & Homicide to retain their titles

The announcers were getting ready to pitch it to break, but all four men started brawling so they didn’t go to an advertisement. That was a really nice touch. While this is pre-taped, it made it feel like the match was important.

Homicide hit a diving tornado DDT on Latimer and tagged out to Kingston, who flattened him with a clothesline.

Latimer hit a flying heel kick and tagged out to Isaacs. Isaacs beat on Kingston and tagged back out to Latimer, who nailed Kingston with a punch to drop him. Isaacs stomped on Kingston in the corner, and as the referee was distracted, Latimer choked Kingston. Isaacs tagged out and stomped Kingston in the stomach.

Every time that Kingston tried to fight out of the corner, Latimer knocked him back. As Latimer tried to send Kingston to the ropes, Kingston reversed, hit a uranage, and then tagged out to Homicide. Homicide ran wild and then hit a capture suplex on Isaacs. Kingston hit a clothesline on Latimer and got a two count.

Isaacs hit a DDT on Kingston, but Homicide broke it up. Latimer tagged in and tried to slam Kingston, but Kingston slipped out and sent Latimer into the corner and clotheslined him. Kingston tried to lift Latimer, but his knee gave out and Latimer started beating on the leg.

Homicide ran in and hit Latimer and Isaacs, then exchanged a double lariat with Isaacs and all four men were down.

Latimer ran at Homicide, but Homicide pulled the rope down and Latimer fell to the floor. Homicide went to the top rope, but Latimer grabbed Homicide’s leg and Isaacs sent Homicide crashing to the floor. Latimer and Isaacs hit a double team, with Isaacs ending with the full nelson into a deadlift German suplex for the win.

The show closed with Kamille coming out and arguing with Aldis, which brought James Storm out to argue with the both of them. Suddenly, Eli Drake, Colt Cabana, The Dawsons, and everyone else was arguing at ringside and officials had to come out to keep everyone apart. Chaos in the NWA!

Final Thoughts —

This episode of NWA Power was very easy to watch, but it did leave us with several questions: Who is the Question Mark? Is there some connection between The Wild Cards and Kamille? Is Nick Aldis associated with them, or is he aware that Kamille is somehow associated with them? Who will Aldis’ next challenger be? Also, will Tim Storm ever get another NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship shot?

The stories advanced here were very good, and as always, I can’t wait until next week’s episode.

NWA Power results: Tag Team title match, Aldis vs. Storm fallout

Last week, we saw Nick Aldis retain his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Tim Storm in an excellent match. After the match, Aldis refused to let his manager, Kamille, speak. We saw the recap video linger on that, as they’re telling a story there.

– Aron Stevens (the former Damien Sandow) made his entrance to talk to David Marquez. I thought Stevens showed more charisma here than he did in his entire WWE run, and he looked more like a star.

Stevens decided to catch the fans up on him, and he asked for no eye contact. He requested silence from the audience, said he was a real thespian, and then completely turned the crowd in a second. This was great.

Ricky Starks defeated Trevor Murdoch

Starks and Murdoch exchanged arm drags and chops. Murdoch posed like Michael Jackson, which was hilarious. He hit a big boot, a Russian leg sweep, and missed a leg drop. Starks hit a twisting neckbreaker for a near fall.

Starks hit a dropkick off the middle rope for a two count. He went for a tornado DDT, but Murdoch countered and threw him across the ring. Both men exchanged strikes, then Starks got a crucifix and pinned Murdoch.

Murdoch shook Starks’ hand after and said that Starks was the better man tonight.

Marquez then asked Starks what he wanted to do. Starks said he wants the titles, but also said that God didn’t have much beauty left over after making him, and he’s too blessed. He said “I might be a little funny, but I’m coming for your money.” Good promo here.

– Joe Galli had a news update about questions he asked Kamille. Galli said he was only searching for the truth, and sometimes you need to ask tough questions — questions that the audience needs answers to. This was excellent, as it hyped up the sit-down interview he was having with Aldis and Kamille later. It was refreshing to see a babyface announcer stand up to the heels.

– Colt Cabana came out to be interviewed by Galli, and he said he was going to go after the championships, including the Tag Team titles. He said he’s got a guy, and his name is — and it was cut off by Mr. Anderson yelling his own name. The crowd popped huge for this. Cabana stole his catchphrase at the end, and Anderson looked a little bewildered by it.

Colt Cabana & Mr. Anderson defeated Sal Rinauro & Jordan Kingsley

Cabana and Anderson dominated Rinauro early on, including Cabana yelling stop as Rinauro hit the ropes and then hitting an arm wringer takedown. Anderson worked on Rinauro and Kingsley for a bit, hitting a clothesline that saw Kingsley backflip.

Cabana hit a big flying elbow. Anderson hit a rolling fireman’s carry on Kingsley, then on Rinauro, who tagged himself in. Anderson hit the Mic Check for the win.

– Aldis was seen leaving the building as a cameraman came up to him. Aldis said he didn’t have to do the interview with Galli but came in on his day off.

– An ad aired for Tony Falk’s Waffles and Tire Irons. You have to see it. It’s incredible.

– Eddie Kingston and Homicide were backstage and cut a promo about how they were going to take out the Tag Team Champions.

NWA Women’s World Champion Allysin Kay defeated Ashley Vox in a non-title match

Vox showed zero intimidation here as she attempted to take down Kay, but Kay was too big and too strong. She beat on Vox all around the ring. Vox went for a roll through, but Kay caught her and hit a wheelbarrow suplex for a two count. Kay went for the inverted piledriver, but Vox rolled through into a sunset flip. Kay kicked out.

Vox hit a flying headscissors and a cannonball for a near fall. She went for the Fish on the Hook, but Kay hit the Dudebuster for the win.

Kay cut a promo saying that Vox’s future is bright, but not with the championship.

– Tim Storm was caught for an interview after his match last week, but he couldn’t speak and walked away.

– James Storm came out to cut a promo. Storm said he saw the National title as a prop to help him get the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, and he laid down the gauntlet. Storm said he was a real man, unlike everyone in the back.

Eli Drake entered and put over how the National title was a huge deal because it made him next in line for the World title. Drake said, “Maybe Nick Aldis is ducking you!” and he wondered if Aldis was ducking him too. Drake told Storm to take the shot, and no matter what happens, if he wins, Drake wants the first title shot.

NWA Tag Team Champions The Wild Cards (Thomas Latimer & Royce Isaacs) vs. Outlaw Inc. (Eddie Kingston & Homicide) ended in a no contest

Kingston and Latimer started the match. Kingston quickly went for the Backfist to the Future, but Latimer rolled out of the ring and tagged in Isaacs. Kingston hit a suplex and tagged in Homicide. Homicide hit a flying forearm for a two count. Latimer tagged in and started to brawl with Homicide. He got a near fall after hitting a back suplex.

Isaacs hit a powerslam on Homicide for a two count. Homicide fought out of the corner, but he didn’t see the blind tag from Isaacs, who was able to cut him off. Latimer locked on a headlock on Homicide. Homicide cut Isaacs off and shoved him off the top rope. Homicide made the tag to Kingston, who chopped the crap out of everyone.

The Dawsons ran in as Kingston was running wild. They attacked Homicide and Kingston, and the referee threw out the match.

– Galli interviewed Nick Aldis and he talked about choosing the Power premiere as the time and place for his World title match against Tim Storm. He put over Storm strongly and said the match could have went either way, but he walked out with the win.

Galli asked why he needed Kamille as insurance, and Aldis accused him of pushing buttons

Aldis said that he had no insurance at All In and lost the title due to Brandi Rhodes. Aldis said at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show, he decided he needed insurance. Aldis asked “Has she ever gotten involved in a match?” Galli had to admit no.

Galli gave Kamille a chance to explain why she was helping Aldis, and Kamille chose not to speak. Aldis said “I don’t want to hear another word about not letting her speak,” and the show went to the credits. This was fantastic.
