ROH cancels 18th Anniversary PPV, Past vs. Present

The coronavirus outbreak has caused Ring of Honor’s 18th Anniversary weekend to be canceled.

Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada was scheduled to host ROH’s 18th Anniversary pay-per-view this Friday and ROH Past vs. Present on Saturday, but ROH issued a statement today announcing that both events will no longer be taking place this weekend:

Dear ROH Family,

After much consideration and consultation with local officials regarding COVID-19, ROH has decided to cancel this weekend’s 18th Anniversary (Friday, March 13th) and Past vs Present (Saturday, March 14th) shows at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.

This extremely difficult decision was made in conjunction with the most recent developments surrounding COVID-19, known as the Coronavirus.

While the marquee ’18th Anniversary’ and the very special ‘Past v Present’ events were ready to show the world why Ring of Honor is truly the ‘Best Professional Wrestling on the Planet,’ the safety and health of our fans, talents and staff are always our utmost priority.

Additional Information will be provided as soon as possible regarding refunds and potential rescheduling of the events that were set to transpire this weekend.

Once again, thank you for understanding and we truly appreciate your continued patronage and support.

Rush defending his ROH World Championship against Mark Haskins was supposed to headline the PPV. Dragon Lee vs. Bandido for the ROH Television title and Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham vs. Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon for the ROH Tag Team titles were two of the other top matches on the card.

ROH’s next scheduled event is Supercard of Honor XIV in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, April 4.

A matchup of technicians has been added to Ring of Honor’s Past vs. Present event.

ROH announced today that Doug Williams vs. Jonathan Gresham will take place at Past vs. Present. The show is being held at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, March 14.

Williams tweeted about his in-ring status yesterday: “Thought I should put this out there since I’ve had a few enquiries. I intend to honour my retirement in the UK and so won’t be accepting wrestling bookings here. The only exception is if any foreign company I am contracted to or work run a tour here, then I might… if forced. I am still however open to making non-wrestling appearances, training seminars, backstage roles etc. and other foreign wrestling bookings.”

Gresham & Jay Lethal are the current ROH Tag Team Champions.

Generation Next (Alex Shelley & Matt Sydal) vs. Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon) has also been confirmed for Past vs. Present, along with Homicide vs. Brody King. ROH posted a video last week where Lethal challenged former ROH World Champion Xavier to a match at the show.
