Six-Man Tag Team title match added to ROH Supercard of Honor XIV

Will Ospreay, Rocky Romero & Amazing Red are getting an ROH Six-Man Tag Team title shot at Supercard of Honor XIV.

ROH has announced that Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus will defend their Six-Man titles against Ospreay, Romero & Amazing Red at April’s Supercard of Honor event. It’s taking place at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, April 4.

Bandido, Flamita & Horus won the Six-Man titles from Villain Enterprises (Marty Scurll, Brody King & Flip Gordon) at Saturday Night at Center Stage last month.

Ospreay, Romero & Amazing Red also teamed up for Warrior Wrestling in December, defeating The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz & Trey Miguel).

This is the third match that’s been confirmed for Supercard of Honor. Scurll vs. Jay White is also set for the show, along with KENTA & Taiji Ishimori vs. Jeff Cobb & Dan Maff.

Supercard of Honor is going against NXT TakeOver: Tampa on the Saturday of WrestleMania weekend.

Scurll & Gordon vs. Bandido & Flamita set for ROH Final Battle

ROH has officially confirmed Marty Scurll’s match for Final Battle.

It will be Villain Enterprises (Scurll & Flip Gordon) vs. Bandido & Flamita at the December 13 pay-per-view. The match was announced via a video that Scurll posted today. Scurll mentioned that there’s a lot of speculation about his whereabouts, then said he’s agreed to wrestle at Final Battle and gets to choose his own match.

Scurll also said that his match will go on first at the PPV.

Dave Meltzer reported on Scurll’s status with ROH in last Friday’s Daily Update: “Marty Scurll will be on the 12/13 Final Battle show even though his contract expires prior to that date. Scurll had agreed while talks were going on, that no matter what, he would work that show. He has not signed a new deal with ROH so when that match is officially announced, don’t take it as meaning he has.”

Final Battle is taking place at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland. It will be headlined by Rush defending his ROH World Championship against Scurll’s Villain Enterprises stablemate PCO.

Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • ROH World Champion Rush defending against PCO
  • ROH Tag Team Champions The Briscoes defending against Jay Lethal & Jonathan Gresham
  • ROH Television Champion Shane Taylor defending against Dragon Lee
  • Mark Haskins (w/ Vicky Haskins) vs. Bully Ray in a street fight
  • Matt Taven vs. Vincent Marseglia
  • Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon vs. Bandido & Flamita

Flamita reportedly signs one-year deal with ROH

Flamita looks to be the newest member of the Ring of Honor roster.

Lucha Blog reported on Sunday night that Flamita has signed a one-year deal with ROH. The report noted that Flamita is expected to start with ROH at Final Battle, which is taking place at the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday, December 13.

With his tag team partner Bandido out of action due to a knee injury, Flamita replaced him and wrestled on all three nights of ROH’s Honor United tour this October. Flamita faced Colt Cabana on night one, teamed with Tracy Williams against Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon on night two, and took on “Speedball” Mike Bailey on night three.

The Honor United tour was Flamita’s debut for ROH.

ROH has two events left in 2019. After Final Battle, their post-PPV television tapings will be held at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 15.

Flamita replacing Bandido on ROH Honor United UK tour

With Bandido currently out of action due to a knee injury, a tag team partner of his will be replacing him on ROH’s United Kingdom tour.

ROH has announced that Flamita will be in action on all three nights of their Honor United tour. This will be Flamita’s debut for ROH.

The tour will begin in London, England on Friday, October 25. Flamita vs. Colt Cabana is set for that show.

Night two is in Newport, Wales on Saturday, October 26. Flamita & Tracy Williams will face Marty Scurll & Flip Gordon.

Bolton, England is hosting the final night of the tour on Sunday, October 27, with Flamita taking on “Speedball” Mike Bailey. The tour will stream on HonorClub.

The Briscoes retained their ROH Tag Team titles against Bandido & Mark Haskins at last week’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. Bandido then missed ROH’s post-Death Before Dishonor television tapings the next night due to his knee injury.

Dave Meltzer wrote about Bandido’s injury in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter: “Bandido suffered a knee injury in Mexico prior to BOLA. He worked BOLA and the PPV, and it got worse. He basically pushed as far as he could go. The last we heard was they were hoping for six to eight weeks before he could return.”

Flamita to make MLW debut at Fury Road

MLW has announced another debut for this weekend’s Fury Road event.

Flamita will make his MLW debut against Rey Horus at Saturday’s Fury Road television tapings. The show is taking place at the Waukesha County Expo Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

MLW noted that Flamita has signed on to be a regular with them and will return later this summer after a tour of Japan in July.

The Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall) and Australian wrestler Adam Brooks will also make their MLW debuts at Fury Road. Ross & Marshall will team with MLW World Heavyweight Champion Tom Lawlor against Contra Unit (Jacob Fatu, Josef Samael & Simon Gotch) in a tornado tag match, while Brooks is facing Austin Aries.

Fury Road will include both a live special and TV tapings. Middleweight Champion Teddy Hart defending his title against Jimmy Havoc, Alexander Hammerstone vs. Brian Pillman Jr. in the finals of MLW’s National Openweight Championship tournament, and Gringo Loco vs. Myron Reed are set for the hour-long live special. It’s airing on beIN Sports at 9 p.m. Eastern time this Saturday.

Flamita replacing Yamato at Impact United We Stand

Rich Swann has a new challenger for Impact Wrestling’s WrestleMania week show.

Impact has announced that Swann will now defend his X-Division Championship against Flamita at United We Stand. The show is taking place at the Rahway Recreation Center this Thursday. It’s airing as an iPPV on Fite TV and will begin at 11 p.m. Eastern time.

Swann defending the X-Division title against Dragon Gate’s Yamato was originally announced for United We Stand. Yamato was supposed to be one of Dragon Gate’s wrestlers taking part in WrestleCon, but WrestleCon announced last Friday that Dragon Gate talent wouldn’t be able to appear due to visa issues.

With King Cuerno (El Hijo del Fantasma) getting his release from Lucha Underground, the Team Impact vs. Team Lucha Underground match at United We Stand is now advertised as Brian Cage, Moose & Eddie Edwards vs. Aerostar, Drago, Daga & Marty the Moth. Johnny Impact was announced as a member of Team Impact at first, but there was a storyline where he said he didn’t want to team with Cage and was going to be in the Ultimate X match at United We Stand instead.

Johnny Impact will defend his World title against Cage at Impact’s Rebellion pay-per-view in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, April 28.

Here’s the updated card for United We Stand:

  • The Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr. & Fenix vs. Rob Van Dam & Sabu)
  • Team Impact (Brian Cage, Moose & Eddie Edwards) vs. Team Lucha Underground (Aerostar, Drago, Daga & Marty the Moth)
  • Johnny Impact vs. Jake Crist vs. Dante Fox (AR Fox) vs. Jack Evans vs. Kotto Brazil vs Pat Buck in an Ultimate X match (winner gets a future X-Division title shot)
  • Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie defending against Jordynne Grace, Rosemary, and Katie Forbes in a fatal four-way match
  • X-Division Champion Rich Swann defending against Flamita
  • Sami Callihan vs. Jimmy Havoc in a Monster’s Ball match
  • Tessa Blanchard vs. Joey Ryan
  • LAX (Santana & Ortiz) vs. Low Ki & Ricky Martinez

PWG BOLA night two results: The Elite vs. Penta 0M, Rey Fenix & Flamita

Image: Derek Montilla

The Battle of Los Angeles continued in Reseda, California on Saturday night. Here are the results:

– Based on post-show reaction, this was considered among the best shows in company history. It was among the best shows of the year, and who knows how good it would have been had the ring not broken a few minutes into the main event.

The finals are today, which will be a long 11 match show with a three-way finale, plus the usual ten-man tag team pure comedy match.

This was one of the hardest tickets to get in wrestling. It would have sold out instantly, but when it was announced that Kenny Omega was on the show, the demand was ridiculous. One fairly major celebrity friend that I know couldn’t get tickets (although they would have let him in) and I know Ronda Rousey was scrambling for tickets, and she was there on the stage and Matt Riddle and Michael Elgin played to her during their match.

– Donovan Dijak defeated Trevor Lee with Feast Your Eyes.

I’d consider this an upset since Dijak is WWE bound and Lee is a regular here and one of the company’s best wrestlers.

– Sammy Guevara defeated Joey Janela with a 630.

This match was insane. The consensus was it was the best match so far this weekend, although there are four or five bouts you could argue for that spot. It was two guys trying to make a mark who decided they were going to do a match that reminded me of the Kevin Steen vs. El Generico Final Battle match. Guevara after the match said he was the best ever.

– Travis Banks defeated Mark Haskins

The finish was messed up which hurt what was otherwise a great match, and they were handicapped having to follow Guevara and Janela. There was a spot that looked to be a normal near fall, and then the ref yelled to ring the bell. Haskins may have been hurt, although he seemed okay after the show.

– Zack Sabre Jr. & Marty Scurll defeated Ricochet & Matt Sydal in a non-tournament match when Sydal did a top rope hurricanrana and Sabre rolled through for a cradle.

Excellent match. If these two pairs teamed up regularly for the long haul they could be among the best face and heel teams in decades. The match was old school psychology mixed with new school athleticism and creativity.

– Jeff Cobb defeated Sami Callihan with the Tour of the Islands.

Good match. Callihan did no comedy and played to Cobb’s power spots.

– Matt Riddle defeated Michael Elgin

This was a high-end G1 Climax style match: hard hitting, tremendous heat, and tons of near falls. With the exception of The Young Bucks and Omega, Riddle was the most over guy on the show. They hugged after and Elgin told him to go out and win the thing.

– Keith Lee defeated WALTER with a twisting powerslam.

WALTER throws some of the hardest chops around. He’s about 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-5, much taller than Lee and while not a pretty body, he’d have been an absolute monster as a Bruno Sammartino contender if he came around in that era. He got over great with the crowd to the point I think a lot of people figured he’d win.

– The Elite (The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega) defeated Penta 0M, Rey Fenix & Flamita in a non-tournament match

Omega pinned Flamita with the One Winged Angel. They went 27:00, with some early comedy and then got into all the creative spots. The ring broke only a few minutes into the match and the ropes sagged badly. They had to improvise and change on the spot and while a great match, it probably would have been a lot better without the ring problem.

One highlight was Flamita doing a top rope Asai moonsault where he got so high he kicked one of the overhead lights and actually knocked the power off. This had a lot of similarities to the Dublin Elite match except it got more serious and there was a lot more stuff. Marty Scurll did a cameo. They really tried to push Omega vs. Penta as the key face-off.

PWG announces first four Battle of Los Angeles 2017 entrants

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has announced the first four entrants in this year’s Battle of Los Angeles. Three of the competitors will be making their PWG debut, and all four will be appearing in their first BOLA tournament.

Flamita, Keith Lee, WALTER, and Travis Banks were the first four entrants announced via PWG’s Twitter account. Flamita, WALTER, and Banks will be wrestling in PWG for the first time. In recent years, the tournament has totaled 24 participants.

Flamita is an independent wrestler in Mexico who also works for Dragon Gate. He wrestled in AAA for a number of years as well before departing last year amid controversy over him using the Octagon name.

The Austrian-born WALTER wrestles for the wXw promotion in Germany, and gained some more recognition earlier this year through his performances in their annual 16 Carat Gold tournament.

Lee, who has been a regular for EVOLVE after leaving ROH, has been gaining notoriety on the independent scene this year with a number of amazing performances against the likes of Ricochet and Donovan Dijak. Banks (who is from New Zealand) has been rising similarly fast and has become one of the top stars on the UK indie scene.

This year’s Battle of Los Angeles is slated to take place on September 1-3 in Reseda, California.
