Confirming plans for some of the names who had been announced for the show, Impact Wrestling added a four-way match to the Slammiversary XVI card last night.
It will be John Hennigan (the former John Morrison, who goes by “Johnny Impact” for the company) vs. Taiji Ishimori vs. Rich Swann vs. Fenix at the July 22 pay-per-view. Hennigan is returning to Impact for the first time since filming the next season of CBS’ “Survivor” reality series earlier this year, while this is Ishimori’s first appearance for the promotion since joining New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Swann made his debut on the episode of Impact that aired last night, defeating Trevor Lee. His match against Fenix from the most recent set of tapings in Windsor, Ontario, Canada will air next week. Swann & Fenix also teamed with Pentagon Jr. against Sami Callihan & oVe at the tapings.
Pentagon is facing Callihan in a mask vs. hair match at Slammiversary, which is taking place at the Rebel Entertainment Complex in Toronto. Impact World Champion Austin Aries defending against Moose is set to headline the PPV.
After a recap, Johnny Mundo held an emergency meeting with the Worldwide Underground to discuss revenge against the Reptile Tribe. He noted that Jack Evans is going to wrestle tonight and that he wanted him to call out the snakes. Evans said he won’t, because he’s afraid of snakes and had a “colonics” appointment to get to.
Taya Valkyrie and the others made fun of him a little bit. Mundo said he owed Angelico an ass beating. The doll told Ricky Mundo, “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” Ricky had an evil smile after that.
XO Lishus defeated Jack Evans
Matt Striker and Vampiro kicked it off, hyping up the Three-Way to the Grave match later in the show. With Evans in the ring, the debuting XO Lishus (Sonny Kiss) made a very over-the-top entrance for a singles match. Evans stole the mic from Melissa Santos and introduced himself to a tepid heel reaction.
Lishus opened with some acrobatic moves and then hit a hurricane handspring slap. Evans countered the colorful style of Lishus with heel offense until Lishus hit a huge dive to the outside and twerked for the Believers. Evans applied mostly rest holds and slow-paced offense.
Evans mocked Lishus with the handspring into an eye gouge and continued the onslaught. Lishus made a comeback and climbed to the top rope. Evans kicked him, but Lishus fought back and hit a top rope split-out X-Factor for the upset victory.
Pentagon Dark Promo
After the commercial, Pentagon Dark stood in the ring with the title and cut a promo in Spanish. He talked about how he won Aztec Warfare against 19 other competitors and overcame Matanza Cueto. He said anybody else who wants the title will fail, too.
Cage ran out from the back and attacked Pentagon by surprise, beating him down in the middle of the ring. He nailed the champion with the title, then pulled a table out from beneath the ring. Cage drug Pentagon to the apron and powerbombed him through the table. He got on the mic and said that he’s gunning for the Lucha Underground Championship.
Three-Way to the Grave Match: Mil Muertes defeated Jeremiah Crane and Fenix
Santos came out to ominous-sounding music and a cool eerie green lighting effect. She explained the rules of the match. Striker put over the idea that this match was Mil Muertes’ specialty and that he’d be hard to beat.
There were some fast-paced lucha spots to start it off. Fenix carried the match early with a lot of high-risk offense.
Muertes chokeslammed Crane on one of the caskets on the outside. Crane hit a springboard splash off the back of Fenix onto Muertes, then powerbombed him through a table.
Muertes somehow wound up in the back, popping out of a door and continuing to beat up Crane on the bleacher risers. Meanwhile, Fenix climbed to the eagle’s nest-style area as Muertes and Crane fought. Fenix hit them both with an insane crossbody.
Muertes put Crane on the top rope and went for a suplex, but Fenix stopped him with a kick to the kidneys. Fenix went for a Frankensteiner from the top, but Crane tossed him out of the ring, where he landed on Muertes, putting him through a table.
Crane hit a piledriver while jumping backwards on Fenix through a table and rolled him into a casket. Crane pointed at Catrina, who pointed back at him. Before he could shut it, Ivelisse came out and busted him open with the hammer, knocking Crane into the coffin and shutting it, eliminating Crane.
Muertes beat on Fenix as Santos looked distraught. Fenix got busted open but kept fighting back.
They exchanged offense, as Fenix continued to fight back and overcome the odds. Finally, Muertes caught him with a flatliner when he attempted a top rope attack. Muertes drug him to the apron and opened a coffin. He fireman carried Fenix and placed him in the casket, slamming it shut for the victory.
Santos reluctantly announced Mil Muertes as the winner as Catrina and Muertes celebrated their victory.
– Arkangel Divino, Star Fire, Dinastia & El Hijo del Vikingo defeated Ultimo Maldito, Belial, Arez & Lady Maravilla
This was a crazy spotfest opening match, with everyone hitting all kinds of huge moves and dives. The only noticeable botches were Dinastia and Belial not having great timing with one another, and one point where Hijo del Vikingo seemed to almost slip while running on the top rope.
Everyone worked super hard. Star Fire in particular seemed to have something to prove, but Arkangel Divino was the star of the match. Arkangel Divino won with a really spectacular La Mistica on Ultimo Maldito.
– Mamba, Pimpinela Escarlata & Lady Shani defeated Black Danger, La Hiedra & Keyra
Keyra was making a surprise debut. Mamba and her continued their feud that they’ve had going on the indies. Pimpinela almost killed Black Danger with a senton to the outside, landing right on Black Danger’s head. Shani pinned La Hiedra.
After the match, Faby Apache came out, pulled off Shani’s mask, and challenged her to a mask vs. hair Reina de Reinas title match at Triplemania.
– La Parka came out and cut a promo on the MAD group. Fans chanted “LA Park” at him.
– El Texano Jr., Juventud Guerrera & Killer Kross defeated La Mascara, Maximo & Pagano
Mostly just a match. Kross put Pagano through a table at ringside before later getting the pin on Maximo.
– Aerostar defeated Golden Magic, Darby Allin, Australian Suicide, Sammy Guevara, and Drago
This was all big moves, but not as wild as the opening match. Allin, Guevara, and Golden Magic were debuting, with Golden Magic debuting as a surprise. Guevara and Allin got in all their signature stuff.
Aerostar pinned Guevara, then rudo ref El Hijo del Tirantes fast-counted for the win. The fans were confused and it seemed like it could have been a botch of some kind. Aerostar and Guevara brawled after the match.
– Juventud Guerrera, Killer Kross (with a guitar), and a limping hooded figure the announcers said was Konnan came out. It was very obviously not Konnan. Guerrera cut a promo, then the hooded man took off his hood and it was Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett challenged AAA Mega Champion Dr. Wagner Jr., who accepted for tonight, making the main event a three-way. La Parka ran out to help Wagner run MAD off.
– Rey Escorpion, Brian Cage & El Hijo Del Fantasma defeated Psycho Clown, Xtreme Tiger & Laredo Kid
This was supposed to be Escorpion & Cage vs. Fantasma & Psycho Clown, but Fantasma and Psycho hate each other in storyline and immediately started fighting. Cage and Escorpion helped Fantasma in a three-on-one until Xtreme Tiger and Laredo Kid ran in. (this was a surprise return for both).
They had an okay match, but the power in the arena went out during it an all the lights went dark. They had to stretch the match out until the power could come back on. Eventually, Cage pinned Laredo Kid with the Drill Claw/Steiner Screwdriver.
– Los OGT’s (Averno, Chessman & Super Fly) defeated El Poder del Norte (Mocho Cota Jr., Carta Brava Jr. & Tito Santana)
This was the best match of the night if you like wild brawls. Everyone bled, and people went through tables, hit big dives, nailed each other with a ton of chair shots, and on and on. Throughout the match, Averno kept trying to use a full bottle of beer as a weapon, but the referee kept stopping him.
During a ref bump, Mocho Cota Jr. got the bottle and tried to hit Super Fly with it. Super Fly moved, so Mocho Cota Jr. smashed the bottle right into Carta Brava Jr.’s forehead. Super Fly hit Mocho Cota with a chair before pinning Carta Brava for the win.
El Poder del Norte were emotional getting their hair cut, and Los OGT’s cut promos putting them over. All six guys lifted each other’s arms when it was all over.
– Jeff Jarrett defeated Dr. Wagner Jr. and Rey Mysterio to win the AAA Mega Championship
Jarrett stalled, and stalled, and stalled, and stalled, and stalled to start. Finally, Wagner and Mysterio started teaming up on him. El Hijo del Tirantes, the referee, started interfering and fast-counting for Jarrett, tripping Mysterio, and so on, until finally Wagner got sick of it and laid him out with a Wagner Driver.
With no referee, someone dressed as La Parka in a ref’s shirt ran out (it was clearly not La Parka), counted two for Wagner, and then stopped. Then Jarrett got a pin and fake La Parka fast-counted to give Jarrett the win and the title.
Vampiro ran out afterwards and unmasked the fake La Parka, revealing Konnan. The rest of MAD ran out and laid out Vampiro, Wagner, and Mysterio. At the very end of the show, in a surprise return, Fenix came out to chase MAD off.

Though the show is still over five months away, the list of people who will be appearing at All In continues to grow.
Penta El Zero M and his brother Rey Fenix became the most recent names announced for the show last night. Whether they’ll be teaming together as the Lucha Brothers or not has yet to be revealed.
They join Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, “Arrow” star Stephen Amell, and Tessa Blanchard as people who have been confirmed for All In.
The show is being self-financed by Cody and Matt & Nick Jackson and will take place at the Sears Centre Arena in the Chicago area on September 1st. Cody tweeted earlier this week that he expects May is the earliest that tickets will go on sale.
MLW also announced Penta El Zero M vs. Fenix for their show in Orlando on April 12th today. It’s a rematch from when they first faced off for MLW in January.
A tag team match will headline the Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground show over WrestleMania weekend.
But instead of a team from impact facing a team from LU, it will be Austin Aries & Fenix vs. Alberto El Patron & Pentagon Jr. The match was announced by Josh Mathews on Facebook Live today.
Aries and El Patron have been involved in a feud on Impact, with El Patron set to challenge for Aries’ World Championship in the main event of the company’s Redemption pay-per-view on April 22nd.
The other matches that have been confirmed for Impact vs. Lucha Underground are: Eddie Edwards vs. Sami Callihan (as Jeremiah Crane) in an I Quit match, Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) defending against Killshot (Shane Strickland) & The Mack (Willie Mack), and Andrew Everett, Dezmond Xavier & DJZ vs. King Cuerno, Aerostar & Drago.
The show will take place at The Sugar Mill as part of WrestleCon’s weekend of events in New Orleans on Friday, April 6th and will air live on Impact’s Twitch channel at 9 p.m. Central time.
Relationships, and the fighting that surrounds them, was a theme on the latest installment of Lucha Underground. The show tackled two different relationships. One involves a blooming romance between lovers and the other involves crazed siblings with violent tendencies.
Likewise, an eerie love triangle continues to develop in another sub-plot.
In the main event, Fenix fought in a match dedicated to Melissa Santos. Her character played a prominent role in a plot involving her being attached romantically with Fenix while Marty the Moth continues to stalk her. In the match dedicated to Santos, Fenix wrestled Mariposa in an intergender match.
All four matches on the show made up another block in the opening round of the Cueto Cup.
The opening scene showed Fenix arriving to The Temple earlier in the day. Fenix drove his sports car into a parking spot, where Melissa Santos met him for a romantic embrace. Fenix dedicated his match later on to her. They were unaware someone was watching them.
Lurking in the shadows, Marty the Moth spied on them as Santos and Fenix kissed. That greatly upset Marty, who is stalking Santos. Fenix and Santos left together, only angering Marty even more. He smashed his head into a glass window.
Moments later, after the introductory segment with Vampiro and Matt Striker, Santos was in the ring, As the ring announcer, she introduced the participants in the episode’s first match.
All the matches had a particular theme, with the opening match being about a murderous machine against a bum. In his first appearance since his character committed a gruesome murder on the previous episode, Cage enters the Cueto Cup tournament.
Cage defeated Vinnie Massaro to advance in the Cueto Cup
Cage had his gimmicked gauntlet. Massaro was doing a bum gimmick similar to the Brooklyn Brawler, without the New York Yankees apparel nor a cigar. Cage squashed him. Massaro did get a hope spot, but foolishly tried to steal the metal glove. He would pay for that by getting pummeled even more relentlessly. Cage gave him a brainbuster for the pinfall.
After the match ended, Cage kept attacking him. He put on his gimmicked glove to use as he pummeled Massaro some more. He laid out Massaro with a punch using the gauntlet. Massaro got color, bleeding from the forehead.
In the now-weekly segment hyping the upcoming match with Johnny Mundo defending his Lucha Underground Championship against Rey Mysterio, a sleek video package furthered the attempt at giving the match a big fight feel.
Mysterio trained, hung out with a mob of adoring young fans, and did an interview in front of a mural of himself painted by a street artist. The narrator played up the worldwide fame and notoriety of Mysterio.
Mundo trained by getting whacked repeatedly with kendo sticks. He also sparred with the kendo sticks and took out his sparring partner with a wicked shot to the neck. He twirled kendo sticks afterwards. He also did an interview playing a cocky and confident champion heading into the title match.
Marty “the Moth” Martinez defeated Saltador to advance in the Cueto Cup
The theme of this match was wackiness, so much so that the crowd chanted “let’s get weird” at one point. Striker called it “the odd versus the weird.” In a sub-plot of the wacky match, Marty made unwanted advances towards Santos. He leered at her as she sold being creeped out.
The personalities carried the match more so than athleticism, though they still had a good match with a simple formula of shine, heat, comeback, and the heel cutting off the comeback for the win. Marty spat on the referee during the match, which was somehow apparently not against the rules.
At the finish, Marty the Moth executed a dominator into a codebreaker before he pinned Saltador.
Backstage, members of the Rabbit Tribe worshipped Mascarita Sagrada. They bowed and knelt at his feet, praising him as their “king.” They groveled as he seemed dismissive of such a notion. Sagrada walked past them and headed to the ring for his match.
In another scene, Marty the Moth was in his lair talking to photographs of Santos. Marty muttered to a collage of pictures before his sister, Mariposa, suddenly interrupted him. Mariposa wants to fight her brother next week in the next round of the tournament.
Mariposa told him that his “lust for [Santos] has made you weak.” Mariposa and Marty slapped each other across the face. Mariposa walked away, leaving Marty to converse with the photographs.
Pindar (w/ Kobra Moon) defeated Mascarita Sagrada to advance in the Cueto Cup
The theme of this match was monster against mini. They actually had a fairly competitive match that still played off the ridiculous size difference. Pindar was a good base for Sagrada to fly around.
Kobra Moon tried to interfere at one point, but Sagrada thwarted her attempt. He then slapped her moments later. Sagrada got plenty of offense and a near fall after a moonsault press. Pindar eventually used the size difference to his advantage. He finished off Sagrada with a powerbomb into a flapjack of sorts, then pinned him.
Fenix defeated Mariposa to advance in the Cueto Cup
The theme of this match was man against woman. Moreover, two stories also played out involving two separate relationships that played into the backstory. One was romance between two lovers, and the other relationships dealt with an eerie sibling rivalry.
Fenix and Santos were at the forefront, linked together as a couple that blew kisses at each other during the match. The story of the siblings, Mariposa and Marty, played into the finish showing they will fight for family even if the family is at odds with each other.
The intergender match began with Fenix being somewhat timid with fighting a woman. That soon changed when he nailed a kick. Moments later, Mariposa countered with a tornado DDT. They fought on the floor with Mariposa getting the better with a hurricanrana. Mariposa did some lucha spots with Fenix.
Echoing the kick earlier in the match, Fenix first held back on a high kick when Mariposa offered a questionable handshake. He thought it over and then kicked her in the head. She fought back with a modified sunset flip powerbomb.
Fenix went for a Spanish Fly, but Mariposa blocked the attempt. She went for a flying crossbody off the middle rope, and Fenix caught her. He then dropped her into a Fenix Driver for the pinfall.
After the bell sounded, Marty the Moth ran in to attack Fenix. During the next round of the tournament, the two are set for a match. So Marty the Moth stomped on Fenix trying to soften him up, until Fenix fired up.
Fenix did a wild flip dive over the ropes to the floor. Santos seemed very impressed. More kisses were blown back and forth in celebration. Romance ruled the day, even if a stalker lurks.
Despite playing to cheering crowds around the globe, there was still one place on the map for Pentagon Jr. to conquer. On July 24th, he had his chance. And the Big Apple was ready.
“It was one of the places we wanted to wrestle in, and a lot of people from New York asked me, ‘When are you coming to New York?’ so that was also one of the things I was excited about,” Pentagon said through translator Javier Clorio. “But the reaction of the audience that day, I didn’t expect it.”
Wrestling in the main event of the Lucha Libre Promotions show at LaBoom in Queens, Pentagon was in with a familiar foe in his brother, fellow Lucha Underground star Fenix, and as expected, the two put on their usual stellar performance, delivering one of the best under the radar matches of 2016. When it was over, Pentagon got the victory, but to the fans in attendance, there were no losers.
As proof, money began flying into the ring. Not coins, but rolled up bills, and as Pentagon and Fenix acknowledged the crowd, a bag rapidly filled up with the evening’s proceeds. It was a testament to the power of wrestling to garner a reaction that you rarely see in any other venue.
“This happened to us in Mexico, and in the United States it happened in LA, it happened in Chicago, and it surprised me that it happened in New York,” he said. “But it was also very satisfying because people know that we were giving them our best. It was a sign of respect from the audience to us.”
It was old school, something that had nothing to do with Twitter followers or Instagram likes.
This Saturday, Pentagon Jr. and Fenix will be back in Queens and back at LaBoom, this time for a best two out of three falls match. Let the old school goodness continue.
“We’re excited,” he said. “The intention was to do a Mexican-style two out of three falls and we’re ready. Not only that, but the championship for the Perros Del Mal is on the line.”
When the two Mexican stars collide, it doesn’t matter whether a title is on the line, if it’s on television, or in an arena or nightclub. The chemistry is rare, and it always works.
“We both know what each other is doing and we’ve had so many matches together that that’s where the chemistry come from,” Pentagon said.
It doesn’t hurt that the two have been battling it out for as long as they’ve known each other.
“Ever since we were kids, we used to fight with each other,” Pentagon said of the siblings’ real-life origin story. “We broke three beds, we broke furniture. Our parents used to hit us because we would not sit still. And we used to wear underwear on our faces as masks.”
The 31-year-old native of Gustavo A. Madero del D.F. Mexico has come a long way since those days, with his stint on the El Rey Network’s Lucha Underground series exposing him to an entirely new audience that appreciates the intensity of the man whose motto “Cero Miedo” (Zero Fear) has taken hold, being chanted at live events and emblazoned on t-shirts.
On Wednesday’s season premiere, his clash with Rey Mysterio Jr. captivated the crowd, and with good reason. Of course, there is a price to pay for such success.
“It (life) does change,” Pentagon said. “I spend less time with my family. I try to spend as much time with them as I’m able to when I’m home, but because of the success of my career, that has changed. So I don’t spend a lot of time with my family, I don’t sleep a lot and I’ve been traveling. But that (making it big) was my objective, and it’s important to me, so those are some of the sacrifices I have to make right now.”
And when all those rough days pile up, there is still the ring, the roar of the crowd, and the ability to make people smile, boo or gasp thanks to what he does between those ropes. You can’t put a price tag on that.
“I want to leave a mark everywhere I go,” he said. “For me, the show (Lucha Underground) is important, but it’s also very important that every single show I do, even if it’s not for TV, I give it 100 percent because people are paying for a ticket, and they deserve to get an amazing show when they see me at an event.”
The road to Ultima Lucha Dos has been paved over the past few weeks, and with that show one week away, the card should take shape tonight. We see the death and rebirth of Mil Muertes and last week’s Rey vs. Puma challenge. Vamp says that he’s half out of his mind with excitement over Ultima Lucha Dos.
Striker says that the LU version of the Super Friends of Drago, Fenix, and Aerostar face Mundo, PJ Black, and Jack Evans tonight while Prince Puma faces his other former Trios Championship partner El Dragon Azteca. Next week’s show is run down and we’ll get Mil Muertes vs. King Cuerno to start things off tonight. Cuerno flexes his pecs to the “Cuerno, Cuerno!” chant. Mil shoves the cameraman away and we’re underway.
King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes
Mil drops down and goes for a tiltawhirl, but Mil hits a big kick to the gut and a spear to the spine. Mil stomps the groinal region, or as Vamp says “he stomped him right in the balls!”. Cuerno hits a boot, but eats a big lariat for 2. Mil hits a huge swinging chokeslam ala The Giant for 2. Mil is sent to the floor and eats a baseball slide and then the Arrow of Death hits! Ref is taken out with it and Cuerno grabs a chair and hits him in the head, but it’s no-sold and Mil punches his lights out!
Mil slams the back with a chair and he sets the chair up in the corner. Cuerno avoids a corner spear and Mil hits the chair and eats a schoolboy with the ropes held to give Cuerno the win. This was short, but fantastic while it lasted.
Dario meets with Taya and Ivelisse and puts them over for being tough – but says there can only be one baddest bitch in the building. At Ultima Lucha, they will determine who deserves that title most. Catrina walks in and wishes Ivie luck and she wants a rematch against Cuerno for the show. He says that she took over his temple, took over his office, tried to destroy his brother and says that their issue over a dented casket involves a funeral home – not him.
Catrina says they want a death match and Dario says he hates her – but she knows what to say to excite him, so it’s on and then she disappears. Puma walks down and then Rey brings Azteca down with him.
Prince Puma vs. El Dragon Azteca Jr.
Puma chops him and we get a tumbling exchange before a sunset flip leads to spinning and a legsweep gets 1. Back and forth armdrags lead a staredown. They shake, but Puma won’t let go – so Azteca hits a pair of chops and slaps him. Puma slides over Azteca, who hops up and kicks him before eating a snake eyes against the post.
This is a crazy-fast match – holy smokes! Puma gets a dueling chant and lands a European uppercut before eating a pop-up springboard rana. Puma gets crotched and chops him on top before hitting a springboard rana for 2. Puma hits a forearm shiver and then eats a running forearm from Azteca. Azteca hits a DDTJ for 2.
They exchange waistlocks and Puma traps him in the corner and hits a pop-up blue thunder bomb into a Northern Lights and then into a brainbuster for 2! Puma goes for the 630, but takes too long and Azteca crotches him up top. Azteca hits a super victory roll for 2! Azteca flows through a missed 450 but eats a belly to belly into the buckle! A spinning Benadryller gets 2!
A corner hesitation dropkick hits for Puma, leading to the 630 as he stares at Rey and gets the win. This was fantastic and easily Azteca’s best match to date. Puma says that will be Rey next week and slaps him.
Cage, Texano, The Mack, and Son of Havoc are mid-ring with Dario. He says that he feels like a kid on Christmas and it’s time for one of them to get a gift from him for Ultima Lucha Dos. He says they will be entered into the Unique Opportunity Tournament for a Unique Opportunity because they have a shot at a unique opportunity! The winner gets a Unique Opportunity and he tells them to rest up because their match is next! Or not….they brawl and Cage hits a big lariat on Texano on the apron.
This was poorly explained, but amusing thanks to Dario. Ultima Lucha Dos’ card is recapped, with everything run through so far along with the Gift of the Gods Title match. Matanza’s path of rage is recapped and we see a rundown of his issues with Pentagon Jr. Fenix comes out in new orange and black gear that looks slick. Mundo comes out and Vamp marks out over Mundo’s jacket and talks about how he helped Mundo put on his headband.
Fenix vs. Johnny Mundo
Fenix slaps Mundo and gets a standing moonsault for 1. Mundo’s basement knee strike gets 2 before a set of mounted forearms. Fenix machine gun chops him before cutting him out and then running chopping him. Fenix runs into a C4 for 2. Mundo chinlocks him, but eats knees. Mundo hits a hard spinebuster for 2. Mundo grinds his boot into the face – blocking the ref’s view from Taya choking him.
Fenix flips onto them while a dueling Lucha/Let’s Go Fenix chant breaks out. Fenix hits a diving chop to the fallen Mundo before hitting a big boot and a chest chop before a jumping Yakuza kick in the corner! A sunset flip powerbomb gets 2 for Fenix!
Taya holds Fenix up and he gets kicked – but lands on his feet before a Moonlight Drive gets 2. Fenix avoids the End of the World and lands a palm strike before a C4 off the top – but Taya has the ref distracted. Mundo grabs a Trios Title hits Fenix with it for the win – marking the first time this decade that a belt shot ends a match. I love that – it’s such a cliche for a nearfall now, and I like seeing it actually get a win so it matters again.
PJ and Evans come down to celebrate and play air guitar while Vamp describes Taya in a fairly unfattering manner. Drago and Aerostar come down, and then Ivie comes down to battle Taya. The faces clear the ring and we hear that Ultima Lucha Dos will be a three week event that starts next week.
The show begins with a recap of all the cop drama that has happened throughout season two. We see the death and resurrection of Mil Muertes and then Pentagon Jr’s return last week leading to his team entering into tonight’s feature content – the first-ever Six to Survive match where the winner gets a shot at Matanza Cueto’s Lucha Underground Title at Ultima Lucha Dos.
The Voodoo Glow Skulls play us into the show and Vamp and Striker run down that the main event will be an elimination match.
Pentagon Jr. vs. King Cuerno vs. Ivelisse vs. Taya vs. Johnny Mundo vs. Fenix – Six to Survive
Vamp says Pentagon’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle and he has no idea how he did it. Cuerno starts things off with a slick sliding schoolboy that gets 2 on Pentagon. Ivie gets double-teamed by Taya and Mundo and kicks out of the Moonlight Drive. Fenix superkicks Johnny and then kicks Taya right in the ass. Fenix and Pentagon double team Pentagon with a wassup spot – only with a double stomp instead of a headbutt. Cuerno lands a running deja vu DDT to Pentagon.
Mundo hits a flip dive onto Pentagon on the floor. Ivie gets picked up and tossed out onto Mundo and Pentagon by Cuerno and Fenix! Somersault superman punch by Fenix to Cuerno up top! Cuerno hits a rewind rana.Cuerno goes for the Thrill of the Hunt, but Muertes runs down and spears him to his doom before landing a nasty powerbomb to Cuerno. Mundo’s DILLIGAF face is perfect and he beats Cuerno with the End of the World.
Taya jumps Fenix and pounds away, before Ivie comes in and clubs away at her. Ivie kicks Fenix’s legs and then lands some kneeling kicks. Outside the ring, Pentagon kicks Taya’s legs out from under her. Fenix won’t fight Ivie, so she opts to chop and kick him. Ivie hits a high kick to Pentagon. Ivie charges in at Taya, but she moves and Mundo kicks Ivie. Ivie ranas Mundo off the middle rope and hits a high kick to Taya for 2. Taya hits a front slam, but a moonsault misses. Ivie goes for a Code Red, but Taya powers her into a Northern Lights and a double stomp for the pin.
Taya misses a corner dropkick and Pentagon goes after her in the corner and hits Shattered Dreams. Mundo gets hits with Snake Eyes into the post on the floor. Pentagon lands the nasty shush chop on Taya, or as Vamp puts it “he just chopped the bitch out of the biatch!” Pentagon lands another kick to Taya – only now it’s another ass-centric one. Mundo and Pentagon trade mid-ring forearms. Taya holds Pentagon for a Flying Chuck. Fenix hits a superkick and then a calf kick to Mundo.
Taya hits a rana and a corkscrew DDT-ish thing on Pentagon. Northern lights into the double stomp only gets 2 on Fenix. Mundo hits the basement knee strike on Fenix for 2. Fenix attacks Taya and Mundo goes after him. Shotgun knees to Pentagon by Taya. Fenix kicks Mundo in the gut, then Taya in the face, then Mundo in the face. Pentagon hits the package piledriver on Taya to eliminate her. Mundo consoles Taya on the floor before coming back in to fight.
Vamp puts over every single person here as someone who is tough enough to win – but Mundo isn’t scarred enough to beat them in a sheer war. Everyone chops everyone else a billion times. A billion may be a low estimate. Mundo lands a nice spinebuster and gets 2. Fenix goes for a handspring off the ropes, but gets stopped and a Batista bomb gets 2. They fight to the floor and Pentagon Jr. hits a flip dive amid a “lucha!” chant.
Striker talks about how everyone is going for strikes and palm strikes to avoid breaking their hands. Mundo hits a huge dive to the floor and nearly knocks over the camera man. Mundo tosses Fenix into the ring and lands a sloppy standing End of the World for 2. Standing C4 hits Fenix for 2. Pentagon hoists Johnny up top where Fenix hits a double stomp up top. Fenix and Pentagon pin Johnny underneath a wacky cradle combination.
Pentagon and Fenix face off to close out Six to Survive. Pentagon hits a flapjack and then the Haas of Pain. Fenix locks on a scorpion deathlock tequila sunrise! Pentagon locks on a double-trap backbreacker, but Fenix gets a Low Ki-style dragon sleeper. Fenix gets a run-up armdrag that sends Pentagon to the floor. Fenix hits a double-jump corkscrew dive on the floor! Fenix throws him in and gets 2.
Pentagon tosses Fenix into the buckle and hits a running punt to the gut. Fenix catches him for an Alabama Slam, but Pentagon turns into a Mexican Destroyer for 2. Pentagon chops him on the rope, but eats a palm strike. Fenix fires up before flipping a whole bunch and hitting a super rana for 2. Pentagon hits two Slingblades, but Fenix won’t fall. Fenix kicks him to prevent a third. Fenix misses a double stomp off the top on the apron and eats a superkick.
Fenix is sent to the floor and eats a Mexican Destroyer on the floor! Fenix is tossed in for another Mexican Destroyer, but Fenix counters it into a Dudebuster for 2! They’re each fighting off of their knees with slaps and meet face to face to fight more on their feet. Fenix swats him down with a hard slap to the face, and Fenix kicks him, but Pentagon superkicks him! Package piledriver gets the win for Pentagon Jr.!
The camera pans to Vampiro looking absolutely shocked. Vamp tells Matt to shut up and let him think so he can enjoy the moment. Matanza comes out on the steps and stares down Pentagon Jr. Pentagon Jr. tells Dario that he’ll break every bone in Matanza’s body, and Dario’s as well because he is Pentagon Jr. and he has zero fear!. Pentagon Jr. is an amazing promo and he says next to nothing in English. His passion says more than words ever could.
This was an excellent match and between this, Aztec Warfare, and the All Night Long match, Lucha Underground really has mastered the art of making one match shows compelling from start to finish.
