Four matches added to Impact vs. Lucha Underground card

Impact Wrestling has added four matches to the card for their WrestleMania week show with Lucha Underground.

It had been known that Scott Steiner and Teddy Hart would be appearing at the event, and Impact revealed today that they’ll be teaming together against Dave & Jake Crist. Brian Cage vs. Eli Drake, Trevor Lee vs. Famous B, and Matt Sydal vs. Caleb Konley vs. Moose vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Jack Evans vs. Matanza Cueto (Jeff Cobb) in a six-way have also been announced for the card.

The theme of the show is Impact vs. Lucha Underground. It’s taking place at The Sugar Mill in New Orleans on Friday night and will air live on Impact’s Twitch channel at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Austin Aries & Fenix vs. Alberto El Patron & Pentagon Jr., Eddie Edwards vs. Jeremiah Crane (Sami Callihan) in an I Quit match, Knockouts Champion Allie defending against Taya Valkyrie, Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) defending against Killshot (Shane Strickland) & The Mack (Willie Mack), and Andrew Everett, Dezmond Xavier & DJZ vs. King Cuerno, Aerostar & Drago are the matches that had already been announced for Impact vs. Lucha Underground before today’s additions.

Main event set for Impact vs. Lucha Underground

A tag team match will headline the Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground show over WrestleMania weekend.

But instead of a team from impact facing a team from LU, it will be Austin Aries & Fenix vs. Alberto El Patron & Pentagon Jr. The match was announced by Josh Mathews on Facebook Live today.

Aries and El Patron have been involved in a feud on Impact, with El Patron set to challenge for Aries’ World Championship in the main event of the company’s Redemption pay-per-view on April 22nd.

The other matches that have been confirmed for Impact vs. Lucha Underground are: Eddie Edwards vs. Sami Callihan (as Jeremiah Crane) in an I Quit match, Impact Tag Team Champions LAX (Santana & Ortiz) defending against Killshot (Shane Strickland) & The Mack (Willie Mack), and Andrew Everett, Dezmond Xavier & DJZ vs. King Cuerno, Aerostar & Drago.

The show will take place at The Sugar Mill as part of WrestleCon’s weekend of events in New Orleans on Friday, April 6th and will air live on Impact’s Twitch channel at 9 p.m. Central time.

Ellsworth-Riddle, Suzuki-Cobb, tag title match set for New Orleans

Yesterday was a big day for match announcements from the non-WWE shows that will be taking place during WrestleMania week in New Orleans.

Joey Janela’s Spring Break II, Revolution Pro Wrestling, and Impact vs. Lucha Underground were among the events that made announcements for Friday, April 6th. James Ellsworth vs. Matt Riddle became the last match to be confirmed for Spring Break, joining Janela vs. The Great Sasuke, David Starr vs. Mike Quackenbush, WALTER vs. Pierre Carl Ouellet, Penta El Zero M vs. Nick Gage, and the second-annual Clusterf*ck match.

The Pontchartrain Center will host Spring Break at 11:55 p.m. Central time.

Minoru Suzuki’s match for Revolution Pro Wrestling’s show was also revealed. It will be Suzuki facing Jeff Cobb at The Sugar Mill, with the card set to start at 4 p.m. Central.

RevPro is part of WrestleCon’s weekend of events, which also includes Impact vs. Lucha Underground. An Impact Tag Team title match has been announced for that show, with LAX (Santana & Ortiz) defending against Killshot (Shane Strickland) & The Mack (Willie Mack). Impact vs. LU will be held at The Sugar Mill at 9 p.m. Central.

Eddie Edwards vs. Sami Callihan I Quit match set for New Orleans

The first match between Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan since Callihan accidentally injured Edwards in a baseball bat spot gone wrong will be taking place next month.

Impact Wrestling announced today that Edwards will face Callihan in an I Quit match at their Impact vs. Lucha Underground show in New Orleans on April 6th.

Edwards will be returning to the ring at an indie show this week for the first time since he was injured after his match with Callihan at Impact’s television tapings in January. Callihan meant to hit a steel chair with a baseball bat, but the spot went wrong and he accidentally hit Edwards in the face with the bat. Edwards suffered a broken nose and broken bones in his face due to the incident.

Things have since been turned into a storyline, with Callihan acting unrepentant about what happened. He also got into a Twitter feud with Jim Cornette over the spot earlier this month.

Impact vs. Lucha Underground is part of WrestleCon’s weekend of events in New Orleans and will stream live on Impact’s Twitch channel at 10 p.m. Eastern time. Andrew Everett, Dezmond Xavier & DJZ vs. King Cuerno, Drago & Aerostar is the only other match that’s been announced as of now.

UPDATE: Though he wasn’t billed under the name at first, Callihan will be wrestling as his “Jeremiah Crane” character from Lucha Underground at the show.
