We’re also looking for reports on the WWE Raw house shows from Friday in Augusta, ME and last night in Springfield, MA to [email protected]

WWE EXTREME RULES ON SUNDAY AT 6:30 P.M. EASTERN ON THE WWE NETWORK

  • Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans for Universal & Raw women’s titles vs. Corbin & Evans not being allowed to challenge for titles again in Extreme rules match – This is the most heavily pushed match on the show and the extreme rules should allow it to be an exciting match, maybe better than expected, particularly coming off the last show.  Rollins & Lynch are listed at -560 favorites.
  • Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre no rules match – Undertaker and Reigns are -400 favorites.  Given the lack of rules, I expect some craziness from McMahon.  Reigns and McIntyre should carry the match itself and both are very good.  Still, based on Kambi odds, they don’t expect a great match.  Undertaker I feel will be very motivated here.
  • Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe for WWE title – Kingston is a -300 favorite to retain.  One would think Joe has been put in this match to give Kingston a great match that he really hasn’t had since the title win.
  • Ricochet vs. A.J. Styles for U.S. title – This could be the match of the show.  In fact, based on gambling odds it is predicted to be the best match.  Ricochet is a -130 favorite.
  • Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Cross for Smackdown women’s title – Bayley is a strong -280 favorite, with the idea I guess that Bliss costs Cross the match but blames her for it.  Bliss has been very sick for weeks which is why this was made a three-way.
  • Braun Strowman vs. Bobby Lashley last man standing – WWE last man standing matches are usually very good but this feud hasn’t had great bouts yet.  Strowman is a -165 favorite.
  • Daniel Bryan & Rowan vs. Big E & Xavier Woods vs. Heavy Machinery for Smackdown tag titles – A match with these six should be really good unless they are rushed.  Bryan & Rowan are -145 favorites to retain.
  • Revival vs. Usos for Raw tag titles – Should be a very great match if they are given time which with this many matches, that could be tough.  The Revival are -160 favorites.
  • Tony Nese vs. Drew Gulak for cruiserweight title -Gulak is listed as a -410 favorite in this one.  That’s pretty big odds for a belt where it really doesn’t matter who wins.
  • Aleister Black vs. Cesaro – Cesaro is in there with Black to have a good match with him and in theory put him over.  Black is a -675 favorite.
  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens
  • Finn Balor vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for IC title preshow match

EVOLVE FROM MELROSE, MA MEMORIAL HALL AT 7 P.M. EASTERN ON WWW.WWNLIVE.COM

  • Matt Riddle vs. Curt Stallion
  • Austin Theory & Arturo Ruas vs. Josh Briggs & Orange Cassidy
  • J.D. Drake vs. A.R. Fox
  • Joe Gacy vs. Babatunde

  • Tomoaki Honma & Toa Henare & Ren Narita vs. Evil & Sanada & Bushi
  • Hiroshi Tanahashi & KENTA & Clark Connors & Karl Fredericks vs. Minoru Suzuki & Zack Sabre Jr. & Lance Archer & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
  • Kazuchika Okada & Yoshi-Hashi vs. Bad Luke Fale & Chase Owens

It was surprising that — during the build to a pay-per-view where the top of the card has already been announced — Heyman’s presence was so obvious. Even if WWE didn’t announce his executive director role, it still would have been easy to tell that something was different about the episode.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight covering Extreme Rules and other news. We have a show covering the AEW show and G-1 show and some UFC up on the site right now.  This is one crazy weekend..

Extreme Rules will draw very well tonight. Not sure if it will sell out but apparently it could with a good walk up.

Britt Baker suffered a concussion in last night’s match at the AEW show from a kick from Bea Priestley right away. I think all promotions should have a protocol that if someone looks like they have suffered a concussion to get them out of the match even though the talent will hate them for it.

MJF may have been injured last night. Inspire Pro Wrestling in Austin, TX said that MJF would be missing today’s show due to a severe elbow injury. We haven’t gotten anything confirmed from the AEW side. He is their Pure Prestige champion and they announced Ricky Starks will face an opponent to be named to determine the new champion.

The Globe and Mail has a great story on the death of Jacques Rougeau Sr. (thanks to Lee Wall)

From the weekend so far, the only things trending on Google searches were Jeff Hardy from his arrest yesterday, as the ninth most searched for item in the country with 50,000 searches, plus two items from UFC, Urijah Faber was No. 6 at 50,000, and UFC Fight Night was No. 7 also at 50,000.  Neither AEW nor Evolve trended, although it would have been a huge surprise for either of them to have done so.  New Japan shows won’t either, since the Dallas show last week didn’t and that would have been the one if any would have.

The pre-show will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern. Two title matches have been announced for it. Finn Balor will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura, and Tony Nese is challenging for Drew Gulak’s Cruiserweight Championship.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting tonight’s pay-per-view. Here’s the updated card:

A 12th match has been added to tonight’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view in Philadelphia.

Owens and Ziggler have been in a program since the storyline where they were forced to team together on the July 2 episode of SmackDown.

Kofi Kingston, who was advertised for the main event of last night’s house show in Petersburg, Virginia, but didn’t wrestle due to a back injury, is expected to wrestle his match with Samoa Joe tonight.

Kingston was injured one week ago and did do a Trouble in Paradise on Ziggler as a run-in during the Elias & Sami Zayn vs. Xavier Woods & Big E match at last night’s house show. Ziggler interfered and Kingston made the save and hit his finisher. Kingston vs. Ziggler was locally advertised as the main event of that show.

Aleister Black to face Cesaro at WWE Extreme Rules

After weeks of asking someone to pick a fight with him, Aleister Black has his next opponent.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Black vs. Cesaro was announced for Extreme Rules. The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting the pay-per-view on Sunday.

The storyline of Black challenging someone to pick a fight with him led to him getting a knock on his door two weeks ago. Last week, it was revealed that there was no one there when he went to answer. Black applauded the person who knocked and said they’re now fighting on a spiritual level.

WWE hyped that Black’s opponent for Extreme Rules would be announced on SmackDown this week. At first it was said that Black’s opponent was choosing to not disclose their identity yet, but it was then revealed to be Cesaro.

Here’s the updated card for Extreme Rules:

  • The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre in a no holds barred match

The Usos & The Miz defeated The Revival & Elias in a two-out-of-three falls match on Raw last night. The Usos lost the first fall after they were distracted by Miz and Elias fighting on the outside. Elias walked out of the match, then Miz and The Usos won the next two falls. Jey Uso pinned Scott Dawson in the last fall.

The Revival have been Raw Tag Team Champions since winning the titles from Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins last month.

Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross set for WWE Extreme Rules

A Beat the Clock Challenge on tonight’s Raw set up a change to the SmackDown Women’s Championship match for Extreme Rules.

It will now be Bayley defending her SmackDown Women’s title against Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross in a handicap match at the pay-per-view. The match was originally announced as Bayley vs. Bliss.

Bayley and Cross took part in singles matches on tonight’s Raw, and whoever won in the fastest amount of time got to pick the stipulation for the title match at Extreme Rules. Cross defeated Dana Brooke in under three minutes, while Bayley defeated Sarah Logan in 4:32.

After the Beat the Clock Challenge, Cross cut a promo and told Bayley to find a friend of her own who is as loyal and honest as Bliss and who could slap some sense into Bayley. Bayley then laid out Cross with a Bayley-to-Belly and flying elbow drop.

WWE didn’t officially announce who would become champion if Cross pins Bayley at Extreme Rules.

Extreme Rules is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

Last man standing match announced for WWE Extreme Rules

After going through the stage last week, Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley are set to face off in a stipulation match at Extreme Rules.

WWE has announced Strowman vs. Lashley in a last man standing match for Extreme Rules. The pay-per-view is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday.

Strowman and Lashley’s falls count anywhere match on last week’s Raw ended in a no contest when Strowman charged at Lashley and both crashed through the LED board on the stage. Strowman has yet to appear on television since the angle.

A promo from Lashley aired on last week’s SmackDown, and he promised to send Strowman to the morgue in their next meeting. Lashley answered Rey Mysterio’s open challenge on tonight’s Raw. After Lashley picked up a quick win, he attacked Mysterio and attempted to throw him into the LED board. Lashley instead threw Mysterio at officials who were trying to stop him.

Ricochet vs. AJ Styles US title match official for WWE Extreme Rules

The United States Championship match is now official for Extreme Rules.

Prior to this week’s Raw, WWE announced that Ricochet will defend his US title against AJ Styles at Sunday’s pay-per-view. Styles turned heel and officially reunited with Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson after losing to Ricochet on Raw last week.

Ricochet has faced Styles on Raw the past two weeks. Styles defeated him in a non-title match on June 24. Styles appeared to win the title from Ricochet last Monday, but the match was restarted due to Ricochet’s foot being under the bottom rope. Ricochet then retained before being attacked by Styles, Gallows, and Anderson in the post-match angle.

Ricochet became US Champion by defeating Samoa Joe at Stomping Grounds last month.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting Extreme Rules on Sunday. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

Stipulation set for Undertaker & Reigns vs. Shane & McIntyre

A no holds barred stipulation is set for one of the top matches at Extreme Rules.

While appearing on a KO Show segment at the start of this week’s SmackDown, Shane McMahon announced that The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane & Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules will now be a no holds barred match.

The Undertaker & Reigns vs. Shane & McIntyre was announced for Extreme Rules after Undertaker made a save for Reigns on last week’s Raw and took out Shane and McIntyre.

This is the second stipulation match that’s been confirmed for Extreme Rules thus far. Universal Champion Seth Rollins & Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans will be an extreme rules match. It also has a winners-take-all stipulation where Rollins and Lynch’s titles are both on the line.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting Extreme Rules on July 14. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:

  • The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre in a no holds barred match

WWE adds Heavy Machinery to Tag Team title match at Extreme Rules

After announcing a SmackDown Tag Team title match for Extreme Rules earlier in the day, another team was added to the mix on this week’s SmackDown.

Heavy Machinery defeated Kevin Owens & Dolph Ziggler in the main event of Tuesday’s show. The stipulation was that the winning team would be added to the SmackDown Tag Team title match at Extreme Rules. It will now be Daniel Bryan & Rowan defending their titles against Big E & Xavier Woods and Heavy Machinery in a triple threat match at the pay-per-view.

Heavy Machinery vs. Owens & Ziggler was set up during tonight’s opening segment. Owens and Ziggler argued on the KO Show and both wanted a title shot against WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. Shane McMahon responded by having them team together in a match where they could earn a Tag Team title shot.

After their loss, Owens attacked Ziggler and gave him a stunner. Ziggler had accidentally hit a superkick on Owens at the end of the match, which led to Heavy Machinery hitting The Compactor on Owens to get the win.

Bryan, Rowan, Big E, and Woods were on commentary at the start of Heavy Machinery vs. Owens & Ziggler. New Day started a brawl with Bryan and Rowan. Bryan hit a running knee on Big E, then Rowan slammed Woods through an announce table.

Bryan defeated Big E in a singles match earlier on tonight’s SmackDown after Rowan interfered.

The updated card for Extreme Rules is listed below. The PPV is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14:

  • The Undertaker & Roman Reigns vs. Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre in a no holds barred match

Extreme rules stipulation added to Rollins & Lynch vs. Corbin & Evans

A stipulation has been added to Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans at Extreme Rules.

WWE announced this afternoon that Rollins & Lynch vs. Corbin & Evans will now be an extreme rules match. The match also has a winners-take-all stipulation, with Rollins’ Universal Championship and Lynch’s Raw Women’s Championship both on the line.

The mixed tag match was announced for the pay-per-view on last week’s episode of Raw. The announcement came the night after Rollins retained his title against Corbin and Lynch retained her title against Evans at Stomping Grounds. Evans was the special guest referee for Rollins vs. Corbin but was taken out by Lynch near the end of the match.

Extreme Rules is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14. The updated card for the PPV is listed below:

Nese to challenge for Cruiserweight title at WWE Extreme Rules

Drew Gulak’s first Cruiserweight Championship defense will be against former champion Tony Nese.

Nese defeated Akira Tozawa in a number one contender’s match on this week’s 205 Live and will challenge for Gulak’s title at Extreme Rules. The pay-per-view is taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14.

Gulak became Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Nese and Tozawa in a triple threat match on Sunday’s Stomping Grounds pre-show. Nese was champion going into the match but didn’t take the fall. After Nese was sent to the outside, Gulak hit a torture rack neckbreaker on Tozawa to win the title.

Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss title match confirmed for WWE Extreme Rules

Alexa Bliss is getting another shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

It was confirmed tonight that Bayley will defend her SmackDown Women’s title against Bliss at Extreme Rules. Nikki Cross defeated Bayley in a non-title match on SmackDown to win the title shot for Bliss.

Bayley retained her title against Bliss at Stomping Grounds on Sunday. Cross was in Bliss’ corner for the match. Bayley accidentally hit Cross with a suicide dive when Bliss pushed Cross in the way, and Cross tried to get into the ring and go after Bayley. Bayley got her knees up on a Twisted Bliss attempt soon after that, then hit the Bayley-to-Belly to retain.

On Raw, Cross blamed herself for Bliss’ loss and wanted Bliss to get her rematch.

The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is hosting Extreme Rules on July 14. Here’s the updated card for the pay-per-view:
